It's raining in LA -- a drizzle, by my East Coast standards. A drizzle when we were promised a deluge, those fucking liars!
I complained to my husband, who told me the worst was yet to come.
"It's a tropical storm the size of Arizona," he reassured me.
Long pause.
"You don't know how big Arizona is, do you?"
"Big?" I guessed.
"Ha! No, it's actually super tiny."
"I don't believe you! Arizona is big!"
"It's smaller than Rhode Island."
"No! Rhode Island is the smallest state!"
"Second smallest."
"Really?"
"After Arizona."
I threw my hands up and left him to cackle to himself.
He just texted me this CLEARLY DOCTORED picture:

Winter 2019
It was a mild Winter's afternoon in LA. You walked down the stairs of your family home, bag in hand, smiling when you spotted your family sitting around the table, a board game in the middle.
"Y/N! Come join us!" Your mum called when she spotted you enter the room. You shook your head.
"Maybe another time, sorry guys. I'm actually just heading out, I'm gonna stay with Charlie tonight... is that okay?" Your father sighed before nodding.
"When will we get to meet this Charlie boy that we hear so much about?" He asked, standing up to walk over to you. You shrugged.
"I'm not too sure, but it will be soon, I promise." You grinned. Your little sister looked up from the game board.
"What's he like Y/N?" She asked, looking at you intently. A soft smile appeared on your face at the thought of your boyfriend.
"He's really sweet. He's funny, just like you Dad. He’s not super tall but it doesn’t even matter. And he loves dragging me along on hikes." You paused.
"I really like him." You finished. Your dad frowned slightly, but hid it quickly.
"That's nice to hear darling. Don't forget a jacket, okay?" He told you. You looked at your father knowingly. He had been like this with every boy you’d ever brought home, not that you'd brought home tons of boys before.
"No it's okay, it’s not that cold outside today. Besides, he's waiting outside for me." You said, glancing down at your phone to see the text from Charlie.
'I'm here' it read. You looked back up again, noticing your father watching you. He stepped closer, pulling you into a hug.
"Don't freak out Dad, I'll be fine." You assured him. He squeezed you tightly.
"I just worry about you." You smiled, pulling away.
"I know, I get that. But I'm an adult now Dad. I got this."
"I know, I know." He sighed. By now the rest of the family had gone back to their game.
You patted your dad on the chest before turning to leave, stopping when your hand touched the doorknob. You turned back around to face your father.
"Just remember Dad, you were the first man that really loved me." And with that you turned back to the door and left, leaving your dad to smile sadly. His little baby was growing up.
 Summer 2020
It was Summer and you and Charlie had a few days off from work. You had decided to head back to LA together, to visit your family. After all, you had been dating for over a year and Charlie still hadn't met your family yet. The family that you spoke so highly of.
You touched down at LAX and made your way through security quickly.
"You ready?" You asked, holding tightly to Charlie's hand as you made your way to baggage claim, where you had organised to meet your parents.
"Honestly? I'm fucking petrified." Charlie responded, causing you to laugh.
"You'll be fine. Everyone loves you Char, and my family will be no different." You walked around the corner, spotting your Dad quickly.
"Dad!" You called, rushing over to hug your father. Charlie walked over slowly. You pulled away and grinned, glancing at Charlie.
"Dad, I'd like to meet my boyfriend, Charlie." You introduced. "Char, this is my dad, Sam."
Charlie held his hand out for your dad to shake.
"It's nice to officially meet you Mr Y/L/N. Can I call you Sam?" He smiled nervously. Your father looked him up and down before taking his hand and shaking it.
"Sir will do. Charlie, short for Charles I assume?" His glare was stone cold. Charlie swallowed, nodding.
"Yes sir, but I prefer Charlie." Your father nodded before turning his attention back to you.
"How long are you two here for?" He asked, ignoring Charlie, who moved to grab the both of your bags that were coming along the carousel.
"We have 8 days off, but we're only here for 4." You responded. Your dad nodded.
"Well I guess that's better than nothing. Come on let's go, your mother is waiting in the car outside. She didn't want to pay for parking so she's been driving around while I waited in here."
And with that the three of you headed outside to the car.
Luckily for Charlie the rest of your family weren't as scary as your father was.
Your mother was lovely, and she had been very welcoming, even speaking to him in French when it was brought up that the two shared a common language.
Your brothers were really cool and invited him to join them to play video games whenever he wanted.
And your little sister, well, she adored the Canadian boy from the minute he walked through the front door.
And just like that Charlie’s first day at the Y/L/N house was over.
After sitting outside for hours with you and your parents, Charlie decided to head off to bed, and with a quick kiss for you and a murmured "goodnight" he was gone.
"So what do you think?" You asked once you knew that Charlie was well and truly inside.
"He's lovely darling." Your mother told you, smiling. You turned to your father.
"Dad?" You asked. Your father shrugged.
"He's not too bad, I guess." He admitted. You shook your head slightly. Of course your father would say that.
"I met his family you know? They're really nice, just like you guys." You told your parents.
"Oh, that's good sweetie." Your mum grinned.
"His parents are great, they're really down to earth. And his brothers and sister are really cool. Plus they love their hockey." You looked at your dad as you said the last part, knowing how big of a hockey fan he was. Your dad nodded in appreciation.
"That's good to hear. If they like hockey they must be good people." Your mother nodded in agreement with her husband. You fell into a comfortable silence for a few seconds.
"You know..." You began, breaking the silence. "I think he might be the one." Your mother put her hand up to her mouth, unable to hide her excitement.
"Oh Y/N, you really think so?" She asked. You nodded.
"Yeah, I really love him." You smiled.
"And he's a good man?" Your dad questioned, fixing his gaze on you. You nodded quickly.
"I swear on my heart. He loves me, and he'd never hurt me." You assured him.
"Good." He said, and with that the conversation was over, the topic changing to gossip about a family friend who's husband had cheated on her.
And later when you were heading off to bed you made sure to give your dad an extra big hug and remind him softly that he was the first man that really loved you.
The four days passed quickly and before anyone knew it, it was time for you and Charlie to leave.
Your family gathered on the driveway, next to Charlie’s car that he had collected on your second day back. After a few hugs with your siblings Charlie moved to bid farewell to your parents. Your mother pulled him into a hug.
"It was lovely to meet you darling." She said softly, before pulling away.
"You too." He smiled. "It was lovely to meet all of you."
"Don't be a stranger Charlie." She said.
"Yeah come back all the time." Your little sister agreed. Charlie nodded.
"I'll make sure of it." He turned his attention to your father, holding out his hand for him to shake. Your father took it, shaking it firmly.
"Thank you for having me sir." Charlie smiled politely. Your father paused, before faking a smile.
"It was no problem." You exchanged a knowing look with your mother. You both knew that your father didn't think that Charlie deserved you.
After a few more goodbyes you and Charlie hopped into the car and left, waving to your family as you pulled out. You had barely made it to the end of the street before you grabbed Charlie's arm.
"Wait we need to go back." You said quickly.
"Why?" Charlie asked, but turned around nonetheless.
"I forgot to tell my dad something." He pulled up in front of the house and you jumped out quickly, rushing over to your father who was still outside. He looked at you in confusion.
"I forgot to say, remember you were the first man who really loved me." You smiled softly, and with one last hug you left again.
 Spring 2022
It was a beautiful Spring day in Hawaii. You and your father were stood together at the top of the beach, dressed to the nines, him in a fancy suit and you in your chosen wedding outfit.
It was almost time.
Time for you to walk down the aisle and marry the love of your life.
You looked over at your father, noticing his tie was slightly crooked. You took a step closer, and fixed the tie, watching as he tried to fight back the tears that were threatening to fall. You smiled softly at him.
"You know, I've never seen you cry before." You whispered. Your dad smiled, a tear falling down his cheek.
"You just look so beautiful Y/N. No matter what, you'll always be my little baby." He responded, pulling you into a hug.
As you separated the music began to play, and he held his arm out for you to take.
"Here we go." You whispered, and the two of you began your walk down the beach to where Charlie was waiting, teary eyed, at the end of the aisle.
As you walked, your father found himself looking over at you, taking in the tears of happiness and the look of love that you were giving Charlie. Your dad smiled to himself, glad that you had finally found the perfect man for you.
You reached the end of the aisle and you pulled your father into a hug.
"Remember," You whispered. "You were the first man who really loved me." You pulled away, stepping back. Your dad hesitated for a second before stepping forward to pull Charlie into a hug.
"Take care of my little angel." He whispered. Charlie nodded.
"Of course Sir." They pulled apart and your dad smiled softly.
"You can call me Sam."

Wandavision: Spoilers (up to episode 7, just to be safe) cheesy sitcom talk, the fifties, the ‘dinner table’ scene, The nickname ‘kiddo’
Tumblr media
Oh, Kiddo
“Uh oh.” You didn’t need to check the recipe book to know that cookies weren’t suppose to make smoke invade the inside of the oven.
“Still better then the last batch.” Wanda said, a small cough falling from her mouth as you tipped the burnt treats into a small bin under the counter.
The sight of the now empty tray made you sigh sadly, the burnt pieces of dough was going to take decades to scrub off!
“I’m sorry about the tray.” You let it drop into the sink. “I promise, as soon as mom comes back, I’ll get you a new one.”
Wanda scoffed playfully, a point of her finger making the tray levitate in front of her. “Don’t be silly, kiddo!” You watched in awe as it turned back to its shiny silver. “I have an amazing cleaner.” You both giggle.
“Well I should at least do the dishes myself.” The sight of Wanda trying to argue made you hold your hand up in silent protest “No, no. You aren’t the only one who has hands.”
“You wash, I dry?” The perfect compromise.
The kitchen fell into peaceful silence except for the bubbly soap that filled the sink. It was the perfect start of a new day (maybe not for the oven) and you couldn’t help smile at the warmth that swelled through you.
“Busy hands make the heart grow fonder” Your mother’s words echoed inside of you as you finished the final dish.
The thought didn’t stay for long before the sound of a plate breaking made you jump, turning quickly as it hit the floor.
“My wife and her flying sources.” Vision quipped as the last of the shattered plate fell off his shoulder, dressed in a respectable suit and dress shoes.
“My husband and his indestructible head.” Wanda replied with a teasing smile. The perfect couple was a sight to behold as you grabbed the glass from the air above her and placed it back in the cuboard.
“Aren’t we a fine pair?” Vision gave his a wife a small kiss on the head and turned to you with a small smile. “Good morning, Kiddo.” You greeted him, drying your hands on the skirt of your dress. “I’m starting to think you came with the house.” Wanda chuckled.
“Mom will be back soon, I promise, the house will be teenage free before you know it.”
“Oh, don’t be silly!” He lets the newspaper in his hand slide across the countertop. “I’m only teasing.”
“What do you say to silver dollar pancakes, crispy hash browns, bacon, eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, and black coffee?” Wanda’s words made your mouth water, it felt as though you hadn’t eaten in days and a full breakfast was just what you needed.
“I say. ‘Oh, I don’t eat food.’” He smiled.
“Well, that explains the empty refrigerator.” Her words confused you. There wasn’t even the carton of milk you were sure was there earl-
“Wanda?” Vision’s voice snaps you out of your thoughts, she simply hummed in question.
“Is there something special about today?”
“Well, I know the apron is a bit much, dear, but I am doing my best to blend in.” You watch as she crosses the kitchen.
“No, no, there on the calander. Someone’s drawn a little heart right above today’s date.” He lets his chin rest on her head while you move closer to see. Sure enough, there it was.
“Oh, yes.” Wanda said with tense shoulders. “The heart.” She looked over at you for some guidance, the confused look she saw didn’t help calm her nerves. “Well, don’t tell me you have forgotten, Vis.” She turned in his arms with a look of accusation and hands laid on her hips.
“Forgotten?” He scoffed. “Oh, Wanda, I’m incapable of forgetfulness. I remember everything. That’s not an exaggeration. In fact, I’m incapable of exaggeration.”
“Well, then tell me what’s so important about today’s date.”
You had to stifle a laugh when you looked at him; mouth blown out like a fish and eyes wide, a stern look from Wanda made you cover it with a cough.
“What was the question again?” Vision turned quickly. “Oh, well. Perhaps, you’ve forgotten yourself.”
“Me? Heavens, no. I’ve been so looking forward to it.” You let Vision pass you, choosing to keep to yourself and take a sit at the table.
“As have I.” He said proudly with arms folded. “Today we are celebrating...”
Why were you so hungry?
“You bet we are...”
Why were you always, so hungry?
“It’s the first time we....have ever celebrated this occasion before.”
“It’s a.... special day!”
Something doesn’t feel right
“Perhaps an evening... of great significance...”
Can you feel her clawing?
“Kiddo?” Her voice makes you jump in your seat, letting out a small hiss from hitting your knee underneath the table. “You alright?”
“I...” Silly you, always dozing off. “I’m just peachy keen, Wanda!” A series of knocks on the door makes her pause and you’re quick to stand. “I’ll get it!”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that...” She trailed behind you, a polite smile on her face as you open the door.
You barley grab the large plant that’s shoved in your face, the woman breezing past you with her hand out.
“Hello. dear, I’m Agnes. Your neighbour to the right.” Wanda lets out a awkward laugh but takes her hand anyway. “My right, not yours.” She’s loud and very, very talkative. “Forgive me for not stopping by sooner to welcome you to the block. My mother in-law was in town, so I wasn’t.”
You pull the plant away from you with a huff. Wanda gives you an apologetic look, grabbing it from your hands, both of you watching as Agnes makes her way through.
“So, what’s your name? Where are you from, and most importantly, how’s your bridge game, hon?”
Very talkative indeed.
Wanda laughs as she crosses the room -leaving you to close the door - and sent Agnes a friendly smile.
“I’m Wanda.” She gestures to you over the woman’s shoulder. “And we call her ‘Kiddo’.”
“Easier that way.” You add as you smooth out your skirt once more, choosing to sit on the edge of the couch. Agnes turns to you with a smile.
“Oh, I’m sorry dear!” You wave her off with another friendly smile. “Wanda, Kiddo, lovely names for two lovely ladies.” You all share a small giggle.
“Golly.” Agnes’ eyes scan the room. “You settled in fast! Did you use a moving company?”
“I sure did.” You wanted nothing but to rip off that stupidly large bow off that equally obnoxious plant, but you didn’t want to be rude. “Those boxes don’t move themselves.” Agnes chuckled and you were itching to move it from the table Wanda placed it on.
“So what’s a single gal like you doing rattling around this big house? With a daughter no less.” You and Wanda were quick to explain.
“I’m not her daughter.” You move back as her dress skirt fills your vision, looking over at Wanda. “Just visiting.”
“I’m married.” She added with a gleeful shine in her eyes.
“Oh, I don’t see a ring.”
“Well, I assure you I’m married.” She covers her hand with the other. “To a man. A human one and tall.”
Agnes was a very suffocating presence; her dress bold and checker patterned, your polka dots looked rather bland compared to it and when she took a seat next to you - practically in your lap at one point of readjusting - you had never felt so small.
“As a matter of fact, he’ll be home later tonight for a special occasion. Just the two of us.”
“Oh, is it someone’s birthday?”
“Not a birthday.”
“Well today isn’t a holiday, is it?”
Were there any holidays in March? You - like most days - were left completely blank.
“No, it’s not a holiday...” Wanda’s hands fidget, you couldn’t help but join, opting to pick at a thread on your sleeve.
Today was.... hmm, what was today? You tried to remember if Vision or Wanda spoke of anything special, but nothing really stood out from the crowd.
“An anniversary then?”
“Ye... yes!” The relief on her face was almost comical. “Yes! It’s our anniversary!” Agnes couldn’t hide her excitement, grabbing your hand mid pull of the thread and held another one for Wanda to take.
“Oh, how marvellous.” She turned forward, putting both of your hands in her lap as Wanda joined on the couch. “How many years?”
“Well, it feels like we’ve always been together.”
“Lucky gal.” Agnes shook your hand with a smile. “Isn’t it just, having such a wonderful influence like that?” Wanda blushed. “The only way Ralph would remember our anniversary is if there was a beer named ‘June 2nd’. “ At least she was entertaining, right? “So, what do you have planned?”
“How do you mean?”
“For your special night. A young thing like you doesn’t have to do much, but it’s still nice to set the scene.” You and Wanda shared a glance as Agnes turned once more. “Say, I was just reading a crackerjack magazine article -“ She gave you both a playful slap on the thigh as she stood. “- called ‘How To Treat Your Husband To Keep Your Husband,’ and let me tell you, what Ralph could really use is, ‘How To Goose Your Wife So You Don’t Lose Your Wife’.”
Maybe you were just a bad judge of character or you were simply just insecure, but Agnes, to her credit, had quickly found a way to pull on your hearstrings in a perfect way.
Or maybe she was just very funny.
“Hang on. I’ll go grab it and we can start planning.” She turned to you before leaving and pointed a perfectly manicured finger. “Now, I hope you don’t have plans, Kiddo! Suducing a man is a lesson no school could teach you, Though a pretty gal like you shouldn’t need a whole lot.” She laughed and you couldn’t help but feel the warm rush to your cheeks at the compliment. “Oh, this is gonna be a gas!”
With a final giggle and smile, Agnes was gone. You moved closer to Wanda as she let out a happy sigh.
“Before she comes back,” She turns to you fully. “- can I throw that horrid plant out?”
———
“-and you don’t have a song? Nothing special you played at your weddding?” Agnes asked, the magazine sitting on her lap.
“No, nothing special.” That seemed to be the go to answer for Wanda; no song, no inside joke and not even a favourite date. Maybe that was the new era of marriage?
“I’ll just loan you some records then.” Agnes said before pointing to the notepad in your hand. “Mark that off the list, Kiddo.” You nodded and did just that. “What are we up to?”
“We’ve got wardrobe, music and...” God, you had horrible handwriting. “Oh, decor!” Agnes let out a happy hum and looked back at the article.
“Hmm... oh, what about seduction techniques?”
“Oh, I have those.” The loud chuckle made Wanda frown, suddenly unsure.
Agnes was really good at that.
“Of course, you do.”
“Just out of curiosity, what does it say?” You both leaned in, the chair you were sitting on unfortunately made it impossible to see over her shoulder.
“That you should stumble when you walk into a room so he can catch you. It’s romantic.”
“Any other tricks?”
“You could point out that the death rate of single men is twice that of married men.” She suggested with a smirk.
“Now, that’s romantic.” The shared laughter is quick to die down when the phone rings. “Oh.” Agnes hands you a glass of apple cider, a small enough glass to blur the moral line of underage drinking, and raised hers with a grin.
“Drink up, dear.”
“Vision residents.” Wanda said politely over the phone, the voice of her husband making her grin. “Vision, sweetheart.” You had to stop yourself from grimacing at the bitterness of the drink, not a hint of apple was in it. Alcohol was truely disgusting.
“Don’t worry, dear. I have everything under control.” She turned towards you both with a knowing smile, debating whether or not to wrap the cord around her fingers like the giddy school girl she felt like.
Agnes took another sip and clicked her tongue. “Oh! I knew you looked familiar.” She said, adverting you attention. “You’re Lori’s girl, aren’t you?” You couldn’t explain why your stomach dropped. “Lovely woman, real smart cookie. Didn’t she want to be an actress or a.... hmm, oh....um -“
“A journalist.” The bitterness of the cider in that moment seemed like heaven, and you downed the rest in one go. Agnes giggled and nodded.
“That’s right, a journalist, very modern.” The conversation died after that, instead filled with tonight’s plan for Wanda. But even when you laughed and giggled along, deciding which record of Agnes’ to put on, that pit of dread remained.
You just wanted to know why.
———
So maybe baking wasn’t your strong suit, or even a decent hobby, but you did know how to set a mood. The candlight that filled the living room and the smell of vanilla (Agnes had enough of it to make you dizzy) was just the right amount of sweetness and romance.
“All done!” You call with a proud smile on your face. You turned as Wanda peaked her head out from the kitchen door.
“Aw, Kiddo, what would I do without you?” She had her hair curled to perfection, and makeup that made her look like a porcelain doll. She was the perfect wife and you had to admit, Agnes was right about you taking notes. “Are you sure you’ll get home okay?”
“I’ll be fine.” You grab your coat from the dining chair and give her a final smile. “Have fun.” She disappears back in the kitchen and you try to hide the knowing smirk on your face as you hear the front door. “I know, I know, I’ll be gone in two min-“
“You never told me you had kids.” A male voice, one you had never heard before, interrupted you. Your coat buttons were long forgotten as the couple strolled in; Vision looking just as horrified and confused as you.
“I... uh.”
“I didn’t know you were joining us for dinner, Kiddo.” Vision said with a nervous laugh. “Mr. Hart, this is my...”
“Cousin. Just flew in.” You can’t stop your hands from fidgeting as Vision nods.
“Yes! Yes, my cousin, Kiddo.”
“You’re name is ‘Kiddo’?” Mr. Hart is hostile, and his wife has to slap his shoulder when he glares at you.
“Oh stop it, it’s a lovely name.” She steps from behind her husband and lets out a small gasp. “Oh, how every atmospheric.” You forced a polite smile, blowing out one of the candles when she turns.
“What’s going on here, Vision? You blow a fuse?”
“Why don’t you take a seat...” You are quick to grab onto Vision’s hand and pull towards you with a smile. “And we’ll go and fetch the lady of the house.” Vision almost trips on the way to the kitchen behind you, you were a lot stronger then you looked.
“What’s going on?” This was not at all what you thought was going to happen. Maybe you had too much cider? “Where is she?” Vision didn’t wait for you to answer, already out of the kitchen before you could even think of a answer. “Wanda!” She was only there a moment ago.
“Vision.” Her smile fades to horror and she’s quick to move her hands away from Mr. Hart. “Oh! Oh!” She looks back and fourth from Vision and the Harts. When she caught glimpse of you, she nearly fainted, covering her chest as her cheeks bloomed a bright red.
“What is the meaning of this?”
“Well, what is... yeah, what is the meaning of...” His stammering wasn’t helping, at all, to calm anyone’s confusion. “Oh, the meaning of it! You want to know the meaning of it.... and the meaning of it is that this is the traditional Sokovian greeting of hospitality.” Wanda nodded, quickly making her way over as Vision covered her eyes. “Guess who?”
“Is that my host behind me?” She faked a laugh and you chose to find interest in your shoes.
“It certainly is.”
“Lovely to make you acquaintance.”
“Yes!” You wished the floor would suck you down to a hole in the ground, the awkwardness almost suffocating. “See, I forgot to tell you my wife is from Europe.” You look up with a grin as Vision put a hand on your shoulder. “And... so is my cousin.”
“Oh, how exotic!” Mrs. Hart said with a grin of her own, how on earth did they buy that?
“We don’t break bread with Bolsheviks.” Her husband grumbled.
“Oh, hush, Arthur!” She slapped his chest playfully with a chuckle. “Have you no culture at all ? And that dress!”
“Yes! It’s... “ Vision can’t help but take a double take at his wife’s appearance. “It’s so... Sokovian, Is what it is! Yes!”
“Can I just see you in the kitchen for a moment, sweetheart?” Wanda was light and fast on her feet, making sure to pull the fabric from a lamp before going to the kitchen.
“Oh, Yes!” Vision gestures to the candles and follows his wife.
You turn to the couple, with the brightest smile you can muster.
“Please.” You say with arms wide. “Take a seat, make yourselves comfortable.” The minute they reach the couch and sit, you get to work on the candles. You only get five done before Vision barrels through the door.
“Can you help Wanda? She’s just... “ Mrs. Hart glances over her shoulder with an eyebrow raised. “- finishing dinner.”
You are quick to excuse yourself.
———
“Oh, where is she?” Wanda tightens her apron for the third time, eyes glued to the door. She had changed from the silk, now wearing a modest evening dress.
“Oh, thank heavens!” Agnes had barley even walked past the window and Wanda, wasting no time, opened the back door wide. “Oh, Agnes! You’re a life-saver.”
“What kind of housewife would I be if I didn’t have a gourmet meal for five just lying about the place?” Both you and Wanda grab for the various tins and trays, trying to save the poor woman’s arms. “Not that Ralph ever wants to eat anything but baked beans which explains a lot about his personal hygiene, mind you.”
“I can take that.” You weren’t expecting her to drop the large pot so carelessly, not being able to catch it in time as it hit your foot with loud bang on the floor. “Ow.”
“Oh, my!” Agnes dropped to her knees, wiping off your shoe and picking up the pot and lid. “Butter fingers.” You chuckle and wave it off.
“It’s okay.” She gives you a bright smile and placing everything properly on the bench.
“- sure she’s absolutely fine in there!” The sound of Vision’s voice booms through the kitchen, a warning that made you both flustered.
“Oh, thank you, Agnes. I think we’ve got it covered from here.” Wanda said, placing her hands on the woman’s back and pushing gently.
“Are you sure dear?” Agnes asked, getting a small “mhmm” back from her. “Many hands make light work. And many mouths make good gossip.”
“You’re so naughty.” Wanda scolds playfully, you were kept busy with unpacking several vegetables from her wicker basket.
“Oh, shall I pre-heat the oven then, dear?” The witch was quick to steer her around from it as you moved out of the way.
“That won’t be necessary.”
“Oh, alright then. Well I know you’re in a pinch so this menu can be done in a snap.” Agnes made sure to snap her fingers, always one for the theatrics. “Lobster Thermidor with mini-minced turnovers to start.” She moved back towards the counter, Wanda letting out a breath as she followed. “Chicken à la king with twice-cooked new potatos for your second course.” She gave you a pat as she passed you. “And steak Diane and mint jellies for your main.”
Wanda had to move back as Agnes turned once more, finger inches from her face. “Do you set you own jellies, dear?” You both nod. “Good girls.” Wanda grabs her waist again and pushed but as she inches from the outside, she calls out to you. “Recipe cards are on the counter.”
Wanda closes the door, hands up as you read one of the cards.
“So, I guess we should start with-“
“No time, Kiddo.” With a flick of her wrist; every cuboard opened and you had to duck your head down to advoid getting hit with a frying pan. “Sorry.”
The kitchen quickly was in complete chaos; the smell of various veggies and seasonings overwhelmed your senses, and while you tried desperately to grab a wooden spoon from the air to stir, the kitchen bar devider opened.
Yeah, take out the papers and the trash, or you won’t get no spending cash
You and Wanda both watched in a mix of confusion and fear, apparently Vision could sing. You reached up on your toes once more and pulled the spoon down with a satisfied grin.
If You don’t scrub the kitchen floor, you ain’t gonna rock and roll no more
Oh, right. Mrs. Hart was inches away from a stressed out witch and her teenage sidekick surrounding by levitating kitchen supplies.
Time to close the shutters.
Yakety yak! Don’t talk back
You closed them with a sharp slam.
———
The past ten minutes had to be on the list of “worst moments ever” of your life, the world felt a little too off center and you had to remind yourself that breathing wasn’t just a personal choice. Wanda wasn’t doing too great either; the chicken went from borderline ash to newly laid eggs, it was starting to feel a little too warm in here. If you weren’t panicking so much, you might have remembered that the large coat you wore that had wool lining was easily removable.
“How’s the potatos, Kiddo?” Wanda turned to you with a frown at your apparence; you were covered in flour and unmoving from the corner, bowl in hand and eyes shinny.
“Am I moving?” You ask.
“No.” She gently grabs the bowl from your hands, grimacing at the mush inside and pulling you to the table. “Why don’t you have a seat? Hmm, take a few deep breaths and just re- oh no!” It was too late to save the cream from spilling on the floor.
Wanda almost wanted to join you at the table.
“Oh, what was I supposed to do next? What was the main course again?” She let the cards float around her, hands quickly turning them.”it was... steak.” Wrong card. “No. Steak...steak Diane!”
“Yes?!” You manage to look over at the closed blinds, Vision’s voice following again soon after. “I’m just coming... Fred.”
Wanda - after taking her own advice - had finally managed to put the kitchen back in order, all pots and pans back perfectly in their cupboards. You were finally calming down, able take a minute to process as she floated the lobster to the pot of boiling water.
But both of you felt the familiar panic burn through your veins when someone came rushing in from the living room, Wanda letting out a startled gasp and throwing the meat out the window. It was only after the window slammed shut that you realised it was just Vision.
“How can I be of assistance?” He asked with huff. Funny, you wouldn’t think a robot would need to take a breather.
“Well, the chicken is no longer a chicken and the lobsters just flew the coop so the steak is the last man standing.” Wanda replied, grabbing the recipe card from the counter. “It says here I can cut down the prep time with a meat tenderizer.”
“Excellent plan. Where’s the tenderizer?”
“I’m looking at him.” He gingerly took the mallet with a small “ah” and was forced to look up when the divider opened once more.
“Hoo-hoo in there!” Mrs. Hart’s head popped in and Wanda was quick to move, almost ruining the poor woman’s curls when she closed it.
“Hoo-hoo back to you!” She pulls at the strings of her apron with a sigh. “Finish the meat, find the lobsters.” She turned to you. “Lose the coat, Kiddo.” Her apron is pulled from her hips and Vision barley catches it. “We’ll be right back.”
You stand, pulling off the emerald green coat. One look at your dress and Wanda lets out a gasp.
“Can’t go out like that.” She grabbed the coat from you and folded it on your chair, the dress was covered and she had hoped that the coat would have been an effective shield.
“I can go home and change.” You say with a wipe of your cheek. Wanda stops you from moving.
“No, allow me.” She clicks her fingers and - with a dramatic puff of smoke - your old dress is replaced with a beautiful turquoise one, white lining on the collar and floral skirt to match. It was gorgeous. “Perfection. Now, lets go.”
You give a quick “sorry” at the door, startling Mrs. Hart as you trail behind your frazzled friend.
“I hope you’re hungry.” She said with a smile.
“Starved, is more like it.” Mr. Hart replied as he pushed off the couch, a frown permanently placed on his face.
“My head is starting to feel woozy.” A low growl from your stomach seemed to agree with Mrs. Hart, luckily a loud bang from the kitchen covered the sound.
“Were either of you aware that married men are killing single men at an alarming rate?” Wanda’s hands never stopped moving, and the nervous chuckle only made Mr. Hart more frustrated.
“What are you going on about?” Another loud bang made you all jump and you had to stop yourself from cursing. “And what’s going on in there?” You luckily didn’t have to stop him from moving as Wanda fell ontop of him, his hands catching her by the arms.
The room seemed to spin, things were moving so quickly you could barley keep up. Wanda was still in the man’s arms when a loud knocking filled the room, you were sure you were going to faint.
“Who could that be?” Wanda practically ran to the door, happy for the distraction and Vision was quick on her heels. Mrs. Hart pulled at your sleeve, a kind smile on her face.
“Are you alright, dear?”
“I... uh,” The words got lost in your mouth. Could everyone just calm down for a second? The slam of the door forced you both out of the small moment.
“Who was that?” Her husband asked.
“A salesman”
“Telegram!” Vision felt the glare of Mr. Hart. “A man selling telegrams.”
“Wouldn’t you know it.” Wanda added, hands behind her back. “Good news is more expensive.” You couldn’t hear what Vision said after that, but by the way his wife frowned and pulled her apron off him, it must’ve been yet another problem. She glided past you, the sight of a pineapple behind her back didn’t answer any questions, but you let her go on her way regardless.
“Well.” Vision said, hands on his hips proudly. “I think tonight’s going swimmingly. Anyone for Parcheesi?”
“My head is spinning.” Mrs. Hart replied, feet dragging her to the couch.
“Oh, Mrs. Hart -“ You grabbed her arm, gently helping her down as Vision fanned her face.
“Did you hear that? My wife’s head is spinning. Generally speaking, I don’t like her head to do that.” You could feel the annoyance radiating off him. “You know, I’m beginning to think you’re not management material, Vision.”
“Sir, if you could just wait a few -“ The glare he gave almost made your knees buckle, looking at Vision for help as he continued.
“You know, I had high hopes for you. But from what I’ve seen here tonight, you can barley keep it together. I mean, look around.” He gestured around him with his hands. “There’s all the chaos going on in your household. Now, when are we gonna eat?”
“Dinner is served.”
Oh, thank God.
The table behind you was set to perfection; each plate the perfect distance apart, and each with a set of cutlery and wine glass. You’re stomach was growling and you were quick to move to your seat - the only glass filled with some kind of juice - and gave Wanda a grateful smile.
“Breakfast for dinner? How very-“
“European.” Mrs. Hart interrupted, eyes glued to the table.
“Ohh! Let’s have a toast!” Vision moves to his end of the table, the Harts following as you raise your glass. “To my lovely and talented wife.”
“To our esteemed guests.” Wanda adds with a smile. You all clink your glasses with a small “cheers” and take a sip of the juice. It was sugary sweet, but did nothing to fill your belly. “Well, please eat before it gets cold.”
You don’t have to be told twice; sitting besides Mrs. Hart - who Vision was quick to offer a chair to like a gentleman - and letting your napkin rest on your thighs.
“So,” She said as everyone settled properly in their seats. “Where did you two move from?” She grabbed her napkin. “What brought you here?” You cut a small piece of the sausage and raised it to your mouth. “How long have you been married? And why don’t you have children yet?” Wanda let out a small laugh, so many questions!
“I think what my wife means to say is that we moved from...” You took another bite, warmth filling your body, and it took everything in to not gulp down the whole plate.
“Yes, we moved from...” Wanda’s face was a exact mirror of her husband’s, both struggling with empty memory.
“And we were married...”
You couldn’t stop eating, fork always full of egg and toast, the conversation becoming background noise.
“Yes, yes, we were married in...”
“Well? Moved from where ? Married when?” Mr. Hart’s voice snapped you back, another bite and you swallowed it down with a gulp of juice, eyes now between each end of the table.
“Now, patience, Arthur. They’re setting up their story. Let them tell it.” His wife waved him off with a smile and bite of food. Wanda stumbled once more, her fumbling only causing the tension to rise.
“Yes, what exactly is your story?”
“Oh, just leave the poor kids alone.” You took another sip, gagging as you felt something on your tongue.
“No, really, I mean,” It was slimy and thin, and as you pulled it out with your fingers, confusion filled you at the sight of a brown leaf. “I think it’s a perfectly simple question. Honestly.” It dropped to your plate and you picked up the almost empty glass, the bottom was a dark orange, and the hundreds of little pieces floating in it made you feel sick. “Why did you come here? Why?”
Something’s Wrong
Mr. Hart slammed his hand down on the table, startling you to the point of completey dropping your glass, juice staining the carpet by your feet. You were left helpless as you stared at the man in front of you.
“Damn it, why? Why did you...” The air from his lungs vanishes, face turning red as he chokes.
“Oh, Arthur, stop it.”
Why won’t you move?
“Stop it.”
This doesn’t make sense
“Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.”
Mr. Hart grips the table, letting out another failed attempt of breath before vanishing under it, still chocking.
“Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.”
This is wrong, all wrong
“Stop it.”
I want to go home
“Vision, help him.”
And just like that, the world makes sense again.
You let out a shaky laugh as Vision helps the man up from the floor. You take one more bite of food as Mr. Hart checks his watch with a sigh.
“Well, would you look at the time?”
“Yes. We’d better be going.” Mrs. Hart replies, standing as you follow suit, making sure to tuck your chair in.
“Well... are you both alright?” Wanda asks, giving you a small smile as they walk to the door.
“We had such a lovely time.” She turns quickly and wraps her hands around Wanda’s eyes. “This guest is leaving your home.” She laughs.
“Yes, thank you for coming.”
You pay them no mind; body moving passed them on autopilot, you didn’t care to hear them say goodbye, didn’t care when Mr. Hart told Vision about a promotion, or when Wanda offered you the guest bedroom since it was just “too late to walk home alone, you didn’t care.
And when you finally slipped into the covers, eyes shutting as sleep took hold of you, you finally felt at peace.
Your mind was yours, and yours alone for the first time that day, and you wanted nothing more then to wake up under the star-lights in your bedroom.

Hamilton Inaccuracies/Corrections (because why not?)
Okay so, I saw a post on reddit that was like, “what’s some inaccuracies in Hamilton off the top of your head?” and I got a whole bunch...and then I had to double check to make sure if I was right...and I’m pretty long-winded...and  now I have this 5,000ish word monstrosity. And apparently you can only post 1000 characters at a time on reddit. Laaaaame. So here’s some Hamilton facts I’ve gathered in my brain. Since it was kinda off the top of my head despite being so long, it’s kinda vague in some places, so if anyone wants to expand on anything (or correct me if I oopsed somewhere) please do! Though nicely please.
Also I am also awful at citing things, but I know I learned some of this from @john-laurens and @ciceroprofacto so thank you.
LET’S BEGIN!
Act 1
Rachel Faucette was not a prostitute, but she was a “whore” in the sense that she did what she fucking wanted with her body. During her first marriage she may or may not have been sleeping around, but she refused to stay with John Lavien, her husband, anymore. So he had her arrested. And he could do that. Because patriarchy and theocracy. And she was essentially put in solitary confinement. You can see why she tried to leave, right? She tried to get their marriage annulled or get a divorce. I forget what the issue was but she couldn’t and eventually she just moved to another island where she met James Hamilton.
The intro song makes it seem like Alexander was an only child. He actually had an older brother, James Jr., but he kinda fucked off after their mother died, working and taking care of himself. They also had an older half-brother Peter Lavien, but I don’t think they really knew him other than as the son of their mother’s abusive ex who took everything from them when she died. John Lavien was able to do that because when Rachel was with James Hamilton, she had not been able to get legally divorced from him so she wasn’t really married to James Hamilton, so James Jr. and Alexander were illegitimate ie bastards. He was an asshole. I don't think Peter had anything against the Hamiltons, but I think he grew up to be a Loyalist so. He actually made some trouble in South Carolina for Henry Laurens, John's dad! But I think I read somewhere he also left money for Alex and James Jr. In his will, which is sweet.
This is more visual since it’s not specified in the song, but in the show, Hamilton’s cousin mimes hanging himself. Peter Lytton’s cause of death if I recall was inconclusive, but he was in his bed and there was a lot of blood. So, yeah, he didn’t hang himself.
Alexander did not punch the bursar. However he did return to Princeton later during the war and blew a canon through the school and apparently decapitated a painting of King George lololol. He was under orders, but yknow. Probably felt pretty good after he was rejected for accelerated courses. He wasn’t the only bastard rejected, though! Ben Franklin’s bastard son was too. The guy in charge of admissions, Witherspoon, hated bastards as a concept and Princeton was a very religious school at the time I believe.
It may have been the plan by Aaron and Esther Burr for Aaron Jr to graduate Princeton, but like, he couldn’t really be sure of that? He was like 2 years old when they died, and his older sister Sally was 4 I believe, maybe 5.
Hercules Mulligan met Alex in 1772. His older brother Hugh knew Alex’s old employer in St. Croix and helped him get to mainland America. Alex and Hercules lived together for a long while, and Hercules is actually who got him interested in the revolution.
John Laurens was in England in 1776. He wouldn’t meet Hamilton and Lafayette until he accepted his post as Washington’s aide-de-camp upon his return in August of 1777.
Lafayette couldn’t have met Hamilton before August 1777 because that’s when he met Washington, and he was appointed as a volunteer to the Continental Army only a week prior, and before that he had been in France. But Lafayette later declared their relationship to be like that of brothers, Alexander his closest connection in the states besides Washington.
Lafayette admired and absolutely adored Laurens and they were besties, but neither of them knew Mulligan. They may have met in passing, or heard about him from Hamilton, but nothing more.
“Lafayette” was actually a nickname based on his title of “Marquis de la Fayette”. In his autobiography, he wrote: “It’s not my fault I was baptized like a Spaniard, with the name of every conceivable saint who might offer me more protection in battle.” I’m glad he thought it was funny at least. His name is Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de la Fayette.
Hercules Mulligan is not known to fuck horses.
The Revolution had already sorta started. Actually, Hercules and Alexander had been part of local militias before 1776.
This is more of a miscommunication since the actors are close in age, though the lyrics try to get it across. There’s a reason Mulligan says he’s got the others “in loco parentis”. In 1776 Hamilton and Lafayette would have been 19, Laurens would have been 22, and Mulligan would have been 36.
I think we all know “Laurens, I like you a lot” does not cover the scope of their relationship but that’s rather self explanatory so unless someone asks I’ll leave it at that. And for other clarifications. But at the very least I’ll share this: Anyone who saw them knew they were like attached at the hip (without knowing how attached *winkwonk*) and you could almost always contact one through the other. Laurens was notoriously bad at answering letters, to Hamilton too (and Alex did bitch about it because he is insecure and needs love), but it became quickly known he got back to Hamilton fastest so people would be like “Tell Laurens I said hi!” or “Hey, I need to get these to Laurens, you send them to him.” Which is hilarious. I just imagine Alexander going, “Why me?”
While all of them are Revolutionaries, Laurens is the only one you could solidly call an abolitionist, and Mulligan’s even shaky on the manumission part. He was supposedly part of the Manumission Society Hamilton helped start, but Mulligan also personally owned slaves and was never known to have freed them (One helped him with spy shit. His name was Cato!). In fairness, Hamilton and Lafayette wholeheartedly agreed with Laurens, and Hamilton was the biggest supporter of his battalion plan, and both of them did try to continue working towards equality after the war, but it was never the top priority for either of them and their lives kinda went to hell, so it fell to the wayside. Lafayette actually did some nifty stuff worth looking at, and Hamilton might have tried to keep one of John Lauren’s freed men from Henry Laurens! But as slavery stuck around for a while, it clearly wasn’t anything significant.
Angelica would meet and befriend Thomas Jefferson in Europe, but she would never manage to convince him to put women in a sequel because he’s a huge misogynist and told her in multiple letters that politics isn’t for women and I think he deserves a shoe up his southern backside. Side note, it always bothered me that Lin played up the misogyny in the musical. I mean, yeah, all of them would be misogynists compared to us, but for their time, Hamilton wasn’t so bad. If there was anyone to play up misogyny with, it was Jefferson, because he would tell Angelica for years and years that politics could never make women happy, and that the women in France were foolish for trying etc.. Hamilton would actually discuss politics with Angelica frequently and openly. And there’s a proto-feminist in the cast that was never recognized—Aaron Burr! He respected Theodosia Sr. as an equal and she was his most valuable political ally, and he made sure Theodosia Jr. got the same education any boy of her time would have. He actually respected women to a decent degree. Not to say he wasn't as much of a ho as Hamilton cuz yeah that's accurate (but they were both disaster bisexuals more on Burr's sexuality later)
Farmer Refuted was an essay Hamilton wrote arguing against Samuel Seabury's posts. They weren't shouting in the public square(but Lin got the sass right. I love his face when Hamilton and Seabury are fighting over the podium). Seabury was also really really old, not young and cute like Thayne, hence the line about "mange". Blech.
General Montgomery didn’t take a bullet in the neck, it was a grapeshot from a canon in his head (and his thighs), but close enough I guess. Side note: Burr actually served a short interim on Washington’s staff, but only for like 10 days because they hated each other lolol.
Alexander didn’t bring Laurens, Mulligan, or Lafayette to Washington. Lafayette joined up with the Continental Army in 1777 and quickly convinced them he wasn’t like the other French nobles; he was a glory-seeking kid with a boner for America (for some reason???). Laurens was requested by Washington to join his military family and he arrived also in August 1777 just after Lafayette. Like previously stated, Mulligan was doing shit even before Hamilton did.
Alexander would not have been in charge of spy shit (though may have been somewhat involved). Washington had people like Mulligan for that, who actually saved Washington a few times. But also, the "King’s men who might let some things slide" was the tactic Mulligan used. He was actually very charming, and his wife was very high in British society and he was a skilled tailor, so they were thought of well among the redcoats, and he got a lot of information through chatting with his customers. He also could usually smooth-talk his way out of trouble. Actually, Mulligan blended in so well, when the war was over, people in the city wanted him out cuz they thought he was a Loyalist. So George fucking Washington paid him a visit and commissioned I think a coat from him, and that cleared that up. He got a LOT of business after that.
Alexander would not be Washington’s right hand man, or at least, not his only one if Lin was using that to mean aide-de-camp. In that case, Laurens would also be Washington’s right hand man, along with many men not named in the musical.
John Laurens may have been reliable with the ladies (comes with the territory of being hot, rich, and a perfect gentleman), but he most certainly didn’t want to be. His father noted, rather proudly at the time, that as a young teenager he expressed no interest in girls. John was also married by 1780, and at least Alexander knew. (he told John he'd found out in the well-known April 1779 letter. You know... “Cold in my professions...find me a wife...the length of my nose...” That one.) Because John apparently didn't tell people he was married. Laurens. Sweetheart. Get. Your. Shit. Together.
John also would not be at this ball. February 1779 to March 1780 he is fighting down south, and this ball was early 1780.
The tomcat thing may be half true. Martha Washington did supposedly name a cat Hamilton, but it was an affectionate thing. The slang tomcat meaning ho wasn’t a thing at that time, so it couldn’t be named to tease Alex for his promiscuity. I believe this was one of the many things John Adams made up to slander Hamilton.
Hamilton and Eliza had met before 1780. They had met once two years prior at a dinner her father had hosted. Also, Hamilton had been courting her friend Kitty Livingston, and his friend and fellow aide Tench Tilghman had been attempting to court Eliza, and they’d actually done at least one sort-of double date (which is adorable). So this shouldn’t have been the first time they’d seen each other. Could still be when they fell in love, though, since they started courting after this. Which is cute to think about.
Speaking of Tench and Eliza! I don't remember when this took place but Tilghman journaled it, he went out on something of a hike with a few ladies and they got to a cliff. Of course, he had to help the girls climb up. Except Eliza who started climbing by herself like a natural to the bewilderment and likely horror of the other ladies. Elizabeth Schuyler was a bamf okay?
Of course everyone knows by now, Angelica was married before Eliza. During the Winter’s Ball, she’d already eloped with Jack Carter aka John Barker Church and run away to Boston.
Their courtship was not that fast. Not like, weeks. More like months. Fun fact, Eliza is the only of the five (yes FIVE) Schuyler sisters who didn’t elope and actually got her parents permission! But here’s a heartbreaking fun fact: while Alex was courting Eliza, Laurens was taken prisoner and then on probation. He wasn’t allowed to leave the state of Pennsylvania. He was mentally in a very dark place. Alex kind of procrastinated telling Laurens about Eliza, didn’t say he was courting anyone until they were already engaged.
I can't leave this alone if I'm sad you have to be too. Alex was hella depressed during this time too. Of course he was a soldier so he couldn't see Eliza as much as he'd have liked. On top of that, he kept pushing for an exchange for John and kept getting rejected because they couldn't show preference for him. And then Laurens was sending him very few letters, of course, and the ones he did send were very depressed, even suicidal sounding. He had to work while dealing with that. He had to keep begging Eliza to write to him to be reassured that she still liked him.
No one could show up for Hamilton for the wedding. Some sources say fellow aide James McHenry showed up, but he’s the only one. Alexander even invited his deadbeat dad, offered to pay all his travel expenses and everything, guess how that turned out. So Eliza’s side of the hall was packed and his was empty. God, can you imagine how sad that is?
Another heartbreaking fun fact! John Laurens was out of probation and could have made it to the wedding, was invited (Hamilton, I kid you not, jokingly invited him to a threesome with his new wife in a letter: “I wish you were at liberty to transgress the bounds of Pensylvania. I would invite you after the fall to Albany to be witness to the final consummation.” (emphasis is original to Hamilton. As is the misspelling of Pennsylvania. Yes, seriously.)) and John did not go. Instead he went back to work trying to talk his way out of getting sent as an envoy to France and suggesting Alexander to take his place. You know. His boyfriend who just got married. Sure, he was right that Hamilton was better equipped for the job, but yknow. Another fun fact, one of the guys who voted for John to be the one to go to France was John’s ex-boyfriend Francis Kinloch. Who was a turncoat, and had been a royalist when he and Laurens split. How’s that for some twisty bullshit.
Sorry, this one isn’t about the musical, it’s a tangent, I just got excited about that quote. Both that style of innuendo and the misspelling of Pennsylvania are consistent in Hamilton’s writing. Listening to john-lauren’s podcast about the April 1779 letter can really help you understand how Hammy uses innuendo but also I just love listening to it it’s insightful and hilarious and I love John Laurens but y u do this and my heart hurts for Hamilton but he is also a ho but aNYWAY. As for Pensylvania...well, he kinda made that mistake on an important document. ...It’s The Constitution. He misspelled Pennsylvania on The Constitution. No big deal. Not like something that could haunt his legacy forever. Oh my god I’m so sorry.
Philip Schuyler did have sons. Five in fact. Two of them died pretty young though I think, considering there are three kids in a row named John Bradstreet Schuyler. The other two were named Philip Jeremiah and Rensselaer.
Laurens, Lafayette, and Mulligan were all married before Hamilton. Hercules Mulligan married Elizabeth Sanders in 1773. Lafayette married his beloved Adrienne in 1774. John Laurens was regretfully obliged to marry Martha Manning in 1776.
Sigh. Again with the misogyny. Anyway, I wanted to comment on the marriage as a loss of freedom. From what I can tell, Elizabeth helped Hercules with his spy work at home. John was literally fighting a war across the ocean from his wife, and probably having an illegal affair with Alexander (though to be fair to him, he was kind of running away from Martha because he didn't marry her for love, gosh, there are no winners here). Lafayette absolutely adored his wife but still was also fighting a war an ocean away, and had multiple affairs, at least one with his wife’s blessing. So yeah, losing your freedom with marriage? Bullshit.
Despite where it is in the musical and Eliza singing the beginning, Stay Alive is roughly about Valley Forge, which would be December of 1777 through June of 78. So before the ball and wedding. (Fun fact! A lot of people theorize Valley Forge as when Hamilton and Laurens’ relationship may have escalated into romantic and/or sexual territory. They may have had more privacy, as small temporary buildings were being made to better withstand the cold, and Hamilton was sick a lot during that time and did need tending a lot. West Indian boi did not like Northern winter.) But yeah, Congress being stupid and the army resorting to eating their horses sometimes and not being able to buy food and equipment? All true. It was a real bad winter.
Mulligan wouldn’t have to go back to New York, he never would have left. He remained there as a tailor and a spy throughout the war. He wouldn’t have been traveling with Washington.
Hamilton and Laurens didn't write essays so much as start working out John's battalion plan and writing letters trying to push for it.
This duel happened in 1778, so like. This timeline is so fucky.
Stay Alive makes it seem like Hamilton was the one who wanted to duel Lee, but it was 100% Laurens from the start. The off-Broadway version demonstrates it a bit better. Hamilton was Lauren's second to save his ass. Hamilton had a rough relationship with Washington, but Laurens admired him greatly and would have willingly defended his commander’s honor. John was a Good Boy who always bowed his head to his asshole father, even at first for his battalion plan, but John wouldn’t let even his father talk shit about Washington. Fun fact about this duel, Alex and John were late to the duel because they “got lost in the woods”. Oooookay. Suuuuuuure. And Baron von Steuben was straight. (Fact: Steuben was very gay and pretty much pushed out of Europe for it. And he actually also had challenged Lee! They talked things out before this.)
Aaron Burr was not Charles Lee’s second. His second was a Major Evan Edwards. Lin wanted a parallel with the final duel. To be fair, that was a really cool way to do it and I like it better that way.
Alexander Hamilton could NOT agree that duels are dumb and immature. He was in 10 duel challenges as a participant in his lifetime, 9 of which he was the challenger. One time he challenged two people at once. One time he challenged an entire politcal party apparently. No, I am not kidding. He had a bad day. And I think you know the one time he wasn’t the challenger.
Lee did not yield on the first shot, nor was Laurens satisfied. Lee was pretty much like, “It’s just a flesh wound!” and wanted to go another round and Laurens agreed, but Hamilton and Edwards managed to talk them down. Yes he was shot in the side. But that wasn’t all because Laurens absolutely roasted Lee at his court martial.
Lee: Were you ever in an action before?
Laurens: I have been in several actions; I did not call that an action, as there was no action previous to the retreat.
I love this man. So much. The sass of this man.
We don’t know if Washington was angry about the duel with Lee. We do know that Laurens, and probably Hamilton, had Christmas dinner with him two days later. When Hamilton left, it was because Washington had snapped over a misunderstanding (caused by Lafayette actually, and he really tried to make it better because Lafayette is a sweetheart), and then continued to deny Hamilton the command he requested, and he resigned. It was entirely unrelated to the duel and Laurens. However, the daddy issues are real.
I don’t know if Lafayette went to France for more funds and came back with more guns, but Laurens certainly did! Ben Franklin told him to chill, but he actually got super impatient and ended up supposedly disrespecting and maybe kinda threatening the court, demanding what he needed, and walking out. They were were kind of shocked and impressed into giving more than had been requested. Any existing deities bless John Laurens. I love him.
Lafayette actually nominated his own aide to lead the charge and Hamilton appealed for himself and Washington finally gave in to Hamilton.
Laurens was not in South Carolina. When he finally got back from France, he was sent to Yorktown. He actually was commanding the group Alexander led. (Power couple lol) He also helped with negotiations after the battle. Also, supposedly making the British play ‘The World Turned Upside Down’ on their way out was Laurens’ idea because boy is made of sass and spite.
Henry Laurens would not have sent a letter to Hamilton about John’s death. Even if he would have, he couldn’t. At that time, he’d been locked up in the Tower of London as a prisoner. We have no idea when or how Alexander found out, or who might have told him. We know he wrote to Nathanael Greene on October 25 and Lafayette on November 3 (literally 2 months after Laurens' death), and the mentions of Laurens were very short. It’s thought that he really couldn’t talk about Laurens. People have compared it to the stories of how Benjamin Tallmadge apparently couldn’t hear Nathan Hale’s name without crying.
After Yorktown Alexander resigned and John went down south to flush British troops out of the southern states. His group was ambushed at Combahee River and he decided to charge instead of wait for backup and he died. Many people think it was a combination of his usual recklessness, suicidality, and glory-seeking mixed with a desperation with the war coming to an end. It was such a small skirmish. He deserved better. He left his daughter, Frances, whom he had never met, orphaned, as her mother had died months earlier from sickness. She was adopted by John’s oldest younger sister, also coincidentally Martha Laurens (though married was Martha Laurens Ramsay).
The Levi Weeks case was years later than that, in 1800, though it was alongside Burr. Hamilton actually lost his first trial as a defense lawyer and was not with Burr.
The whole conversation where Hamilton proposes Burr help him write the Federalist Papers is fake. Lin made that up entirely.
John Church’s wealth kinda...varies. He was a gambler. At first, he was actually in quite a bit of debt. He did make it big eventually and he and Angelica moved to Europe. He really didn’t seem to be a lot of fun to most people, but Angelica eloped with him. She chose him against her father’s wishes. I don’t get why Lin kept writing lines saying she didn’t love him, at least at first. He also does this in the cut song Congratulations where she says “I languished in a loveless marriage” bish you eloped wat She also lived as a socialite and was adored by anyone who met her apparently, so like???? da fuq Lin. Didja really do Laurens dirty for these lies or at the very least uncertanties? Could you not prop up that romance without making her say she hates her husband?
Act 2
More of a personality miscommunication. Irl Thomas Jefferson was shy, quiet, and hypersensitive, nothing like how Daveed plays him. If you knew a guy like the real Jefferson in real life you might be endeared to him out of pity or because he seems sweet, but in the short time of a musical that would immediately be read as cold and unlikable. So the best way to portray “this guy is a likable asshole” is to make him loud and made of sass which is what Daveed does magnificently. So, not at all accurate to real Jefferson, but gets the concept of him across.
Thomas was not off getting high with the French. Probably. He was making negotiations for the Revolution. And abusing Sally Hemings (his, at the time, 14 year old slave, who was also his sister-in-law, and 30 years his junior, and was brought along to entertain his daughter). And actually probably chatting up with Angelica!
By the time Philip was 9, he had two sisters, Angelica (7) and his foster/adopted sister Frances Antill (6), but he also had two brothers already, Alexander Jr. (5) and James Alexander (3), with maybe another one on the way since William Stephen would be born next year.
The whole comma thing is backwards. It was Angelica who made the initial mistake. Hamilton pointedly and flirtatiously teased her about it before closing it with “Adieu ma chere, soeur” French for “Goodbye my dear, sister”. So it’s more playful and less lovey dovey in context, so the tone is all wrong. It’s not romantic, it’s teasing and snarky.
Say No To This feels like it’s over quick. The affair lasted a year, not just the summer Eliza was away.
Clermont Street wasn’t renamed until many years later.
I don’t know that Alex has always considered Burr a friend. Irl they weren’t as close, and Hamilton was keenly aware of how slimy Burr could be.
Lafayette was NOT fine. He was imprisoned a lot during the French Revolution, the poor man, and many members of his wife’s family were killed. HOWEVER! Hamilton was not just sitting by. Angelica and her husband did make an attempt to rescue Lafayette, and the Hamiltons fostered Lafayette’s son Georges Washington Lafayette (yes that was his actual name). So Hamilton also did not forget Lafayette.
Not all his defendants got acquitted, obviously. Stop being cocky, Ham.
People comment on how Jefferson whines about Hamilton’s fashion sense while literally dressed in violet velvet. The original plan was to have him in browns, but Daveed is just such a friggin star that they just had to give him something brighter and decided to go with a Prince-inspired look. Originally the browns were going to be representative of his supposed representation of farmers. Though note here: Jefferson’s agricultural representation is much the same as modern Republicans’ rural representation. More for show.
Actually, let's get political for a sec. I've done some research in my hyperfixation and in searches for Hamilton shiz I've ended up stumbling into far-right nonsense and I know how to recognize the degrees of nonsense from years of actually paying attention to it now because this is what I do apparently. Which is weird, right? Lin kinda portrays him like a lefty. Well, here's the thing. Any proud historically educated Republican will tell you that their roots are in the Federalist Party. Which is technically true. What they will neglect to mention is the flip between parties that happened when the Republicans decided to use southerners racism to their advantage in elections. Being subtly racist can get the racists and the non-racists on your side! Yeah, it's gross. Federalists are more like Democrats. The corporatists. They clearly care more about companies and Wall Street, but they put actual action into social progress on rare occasion. Democratic-Republicans are like Republicans, conservatives who don't want social change and rail against it and pretend they aren't for corporate interests while being just as bad as the other guys. But Republicans have a tendency to rewrite history to paint themselves as the good guys, or reclaim things that aren't theirs as their own. Just look at the Civil War! Or...literally just...America I guess. Yikes. But yeah, here's your warning. Don't just go looking at and trusting things labelled Federalist. It likely won't be friendly.
John Adams didn’t fire Hamilton, Hamilton left. Eventually. And this is not the only time this kind of verbal confrontation happens, and not the one that destroys the Federalist Party. That actually happens after the Reynolds Pamphlet. But John Adams hates Alexander Hamilton with the burning passion of a thousand suns and really kinda earns this.
I’m not sure if he specifically called Alex a Creole bastard but I wouldn’t be surprised, there were other similar racist and bastard-related insults. You know the tomcat thing mentioned above. He started the rumor of the affair with Angelica. He accused him of being a rake (male version of whore at the time). He also may have behind closed doors accused him of being a sodomite. His (probably gay) son Charles helped with that one, bringing back rumors from a dinner he had with Hamilton (who he was working for) and John Church because Church joked about Alex being fond of a guy. Adams probably thought working for Hamilton was what made his son gay and alcoholic (Charles was an alcoholic and may have died in part because of that; Hamilton was not an alcoholic, but he supposedly could not hold his drink. He was smol).
Jefferson, Madison, and Burr didn’t accuse Hamilton of speculation. It was James Monroe, Abraham Venable, and Frederick Muhlenberg. Lin wanted to keep consistent representation of the Democratic-Republican party. But anyway, the whole thing went to hell because Monroe sent the letters to Jefferson (or I’ve also heard Monroe gave them to Madison who sent them to Jefferson) who, the spiteful gangly fucker, started spreading rumors because fuck Hamilton, amirite? Hamilton challenged Monroe to a duel over that. And who stopped this duel? Aaron Burr. He gets to be the good guy now and then.
It wasn’t just total strangers that got Alex off the island. He was sponsored by his cousin Ann Lytton and his teacher Reverend Hugh Knox. Also, he was kind of expected to get an education and come back and help out the island...guess what he never did. Oops.
This one I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure. I think Eliza was upstate with her family when the Reynolds Pamphlet was released, away from Alex. I also know she had recently given birth to their son, William Stephen. A lot of people think Alexander had been keeping that in mind. Eliza had had a miscarriage once before, when she was under a lot of stress and alone and with the kids and he had to be away (Whiskey Rebellion), so some people think he made sure she was surrounded by her family and waited until the child was born to drop this on her, and gave her distance from him if she needed it. At least he knew he fucked up, and he really did love her.
Those weren’t Alexander’s guns. They belonged to John Church.
It was quite some time between Philip’s challenge and the actual duel.
Another age miscommunication; Eacker was 27ish and Philip was 19 when the duel happened. There was a whole 8 years between them!
Eacker didn’t shoot early. Actually, both of them stood staring at each other for a really long time doing nothing. But Philip went to make a move and Eacker shot him.
Alex and Eliza had made up from the Reynolds Pamphlet bullshit before Philip died. When he passed, Eliza was already pregnant with the son they would also name Philip in honor of his older brother.
Hamilton wasn’t really the deciding factor in the election of 1800. But he did say that about Burr and it did help swing the vote somewhat. But also, this was before Philip died. Philip died in 1801.
If a vote is that close, you can’t win in a landslide??? That’s not how words work???? Mister Miranda????? You are a writer??????? Sir???????
Burr actually held a term as Jefferson’s Vice President.
The Burr vs Hamilton Duel was in 1804 and was actually about another election and other things Hamilton was saying about him. Burr was running to be governor of New York and lost but heard about Alexander telling people the things he listed Alexander saying in Your Obedient Servant.
Thayne should not have played Alexander’s doctor. Sydney should have played Alexander’s doctor. Do you know why? Philip and Alexander had the same doctor when they died. Alexander took that doctor with him to the duel. His name was David Hosack.
While there’s evidence to suggest Burr experienced immediate regret (he stepped forward as if wanting to see if Hamilton was okay and supposedly asked after him and wished him well before Alexander passed) in the years that followed, until he was on his death bed, he expressed nothing but neutrality or even pride for having shot Hamilton. The ‘the world was wide enough’ comment could plausibly be entirely made up, and even if it were true, it was supposedly said toward the end of Burr’s life. Burr's life was quite a ride after Alex. He tried to make like his own empire out of Texas, and then of course was tried for treason, but he got out of that, but then everyone hated him for that ON TOP OF already hating him for killing Hamilton, so he had some crazy journey around Europe for a while. He kept a journal, writing entries like letters to Theo. The most notable things I think he writes he'd "been amused for an hour with a very handsome young Dane. Don't smile. It is a male!" which implies maybe Theodosia knew her dad was bi and was at least amused by it? And he spent a while living with Jeremy Bentham, who is generally accepted to have been gay (if you want more Burr gayness look into Jonathan Bellamy and Robert Troup. Troup knew Hamilton too!). Unrelated to his sexuality but I find it important, Burr spent, in modern cash, $40 on a coconut, in his own words, "like an ass." He returned to America eventually. I dont remember if it was before or after his foreign adventures, but his beloved grandson (also named Aaron Burr) died, and then not long after, Theodosia was lost at sea on her way to visit her dad. No one knows what happened to her. It's so sad. Anyway he married a wealthy widow named Eliza, spent all her money on charity, and died the day their divorce was finalized. And Eliza Jumel's divorce lawyer was Alexander Hamilton Jr..
Poor Eliza couldn’t go through all of her husband’s papers. Her son, John Church Hamilton, finished the work for her when she no longer could and put together the biography that inspired Chernow’s that inspired Lin’s musical. (He named a son Alexander and a daughter Elizabeth. He even named one of his sons Laurens! Aw.) And we have come full circle.
The End :33
There’s probably more but that’s what I’ve got. Thanks for reading!

Little Miracle
It had been two years. Two long and frustrating years. When Harry and Y/N first started talking about trying to get pregnant, it was exciting. They had been married for about three years at that point and Harry had finally started to slow down in his career a bit to focus a little more attention on his wife with the prospect of starting a family. But things hadn’t gone to plan. They didn’t expect to get pregnant on the first try. Maybe not even the second. But by month three, they started to get discouraged. Maybe their timing was off. Y/N’s period was irregular, after all, and their ideal of ‘letting it happen when it happens’ was starting to become easier said than done. So, Y/N started taking ovulation tests.
She took a text every single day for a week, and all of the tests came back negative. Not a big deal, there’s only three days of ovulation in a month. She continued to take them. The third week, nothing. Maybe her ovulation days were spread out further apart since her period was so irregular? By week five, Y/N began to worry, but she hadn’t lost hope, yet. She visited her OB/GYN who encouraged her to keep trying, try to stress less, and eat healthier. So she did. She started exercising, changing her diet, taking more vitamins, even starting couples yoga with Harry, doing everything within her power to live a better lifestyle. Nothing worked.
With every negative ovulation and pregnancy test they got, Y/N spirits dwindled. Harry began picking up more work, doing anything he could to distract himself from the ranges of emotions that were running through him. Of course, he wanted to have a baby with Y/N. She was the love of his life and to be able to bring a piece of both of them in this world would be the biggest blessing he could have imagined. But seeing the pain and heartache in Y/N’s eyes each day after another negative test felt like a stab in his chest.
He tried to do little things to take her mind off of it. Spontaneous dates, trips to the spa, exotic getaways, concerts, you name it. But when they got home at the end of the day, passing by the empty room they had always talked about one day making into a nursery, he saw the flicker of hope in her eyes die. It was even harder whenever tabloids speculated her pregnancy or friends and family asked when they would have a baby. They always played it off, simply saying ‘it’ll happen when it’s supposed to happen’, but the rage he felt whenever someone brought it up was something awful. It took everything in him not to lunge at the person joking about it. If only they knew, maybe they wouldn’t be so insensitive.
After a year and a half of trying, they decided to bite the bullet and meet with a fertility specialist to see what was going on. Harry had just finished a tour and they thought now was the perfect time to get serious again. Dozens of tests were done between bloodwork, urine screenings, semen samples, and finally an ultrasound. That’s when they were given the news. Y/N had a pretty severe case of PCOS. It was the cause of her irregular periods and the reason why it had been so difficult for her to conceive naturally.
The doctor had sat them down in a room to discuss what this meant. According to him, the chances of Y/N ever conceiving naturally, without medical intervention, were slim to none. And even though there were several medical and procedural routes they could go, the chances of a baby sticking, though not impossible, did not look to be in their favor. The look on Y/N’s face was enough to kill.
After the doctor laid out all of their options, he gave them some space to digest, and as soon as he left the room, Y/N collapsed into Harry’s arms. They had given up hope. What was the point in trying? Why go through all the pain and discomfort of medications and procedures for the high probability that it’d end in miscarriage? When they got home, they began discussing their options. There was always surrogacy and adoption. But the more they talked about it, the more frustrated Y/N got. She tossed all of her unused ovulation and pregnancy tests in a drawer under her bathroom sink and slammed it shut.
“Maybe we can get a second opinion about your PCOS,” Harry suggested, following her into their bedroom.
Y/N shook her head, shrugging her shoulders, and curling up on her bed, tired from all of the crying, “Maybe the universe is telling us we shouldn’t be parents. Maybe it’s just not time yet.”
Harry pouted, curling up with her, “Love, we’re going to have a baby. It may not have your eyes or my dimples, but we’ll have a family someday.”
Months had passed and Y/N continued to take her ovulation tests out of the habit of taking them every day for nearly two years, and every day they would still come up negative. It was Father’s Day, and after a long day celebrating with Y/N’s dad, the couple came home and got ready for bed. Y/N opened a drawer to her bathroom sink to get some floss and to take her daily ovulation test, setting it on the vanity counter before finishing her business, and as she washed her hands, she noticed the faintest extra line imaginable.
Laughing, she threw it in the trash, almost certain that it was either a false positive or a trick of the light. Still, with over four hundred negative ovulation tests under her belt, it was a bit strange. She didn’t mention anything to Harry, afraid he would think she was crazy. The number of times she had convinced herself she was pregnant because of a ‘feeling’ was starting to become ridiculous. But, what’s the harm in trying? Harry looked especially hot today with his hair extra floppy and the perfect amount of stubble on his chin. All it took was her dropping her dressing gown to get him in the mood.
But when the next day rolled around and her ovulation test was negative, she figured the previous night was just a dud. Typical. She had completely forgotten about it, her mind distracted by the fact that Harry had to leave for a few weeks to work on a new album, meeting with producers and mixers, songwriters, and masters in LA. Y/N stayed in their London home, spending time with his family and meeting up with friends.
The day Harry was supposed to return, she decided to get all dolled up for him. It had been a while since she had gone all out, and she wanted to surprise him. First thing’s first, she needed a shower. She stripped out of her clothes, tossing them in the hamper, and decided to use the bathroom real quick before she got in. The sink drawer was slightly ajar and she saw the outline of the unused pregnancy tests she never got the chance to take. She frowned, pulling it out of the drawer, all of the lost hopes and dreams fluttering away with this one pregnancy test. She should get rid of them. She sat on the toilet in thought for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. What’s one more test, for old time sake?
She held the test under her stream for a few seconds and shook it dry before tossing it to the ground, barely out of sight, knowing that the test would be negative like it always was. Besides, she had no symptoms of being pregnant. She felt fine. So, she finished her business and washed her hands. But just as she was about to get in the shower, she happened to look down and saw it. It was faint. Very faint. But it was there. Two blue lines.
Fully naked and one foot wet, she rushed over and grabbed it off the floor, pulling it to her face and holding it up to the light to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. But no matter how she turned it, she couldn’t unsee the two lines.
“Nope. It’s just a false positive,” she told herself before tossing it on the counter and getting in the shower.
But she could barely focus. Her mind kept wandering back to the test. Was it possible? She remembered the ovulation test she had taken on Father’s Day. Maybe she had ovulated. Maybe she was pregnant. No. Not possible. But….maybe?
It was a good thing she drank so much water that morning because when she got out of the shower, she had to pee again. This time, she made sure to get a cup to pee in, wanting to try multiple tests, just in case. She dipped three into the cup and set them on the counter, leaving to get dressed before returning. She took a deep breath, trying not to get her hopes up, before looking down. And her heart began to race. All three, barely visible, had two lines. Were they too faint? Did that mean she wasn’t pregnant?
So, to be sure, she took out the big guns. An electric pregnancy test. She needed to see the words. It wouldn’t be clear until she got a definitive answer. Pregnant or Not Pregnant. So she dipped it in and saw the little hourglass blink, and watched as the bar got closer and closer to completion. It took a moment to register, but when she saw it, an audible gasp escaped her as she clapped her hands over her mouth and stepped back.
Pregnant
“Oh my god!” she cried, tears rolling down her face in streams.
She picked it up, put it down, and picked it back up again to make sure she was reading it right. Pregnant.
Y/N had always imagined telling Harry in a cute, fun way. Putting a bun in the oven, or with a game of Pictionary. Maybe even a little onesie. But all of that went out the window. He was going to be home any minute and there was no way she could keep this to herself long enough to figure out how to tell them. It was something they had been waiting on for two years. She wouldn’t wait another second.
She gathered all of the tests she had taken, capped them so nothing could be exposed to the pee, and took them down to the dining room table, scattering them around and staring at them. Her leg shook, anxious for her husband’s arrival, and she bit her fingernails, still in shock that this was even happening. The beeping of the motion sensor went off, signaling that the front door had been opened and Harry’s voice rang through the house.
“Y/N?! I’m home! Where are you?!”
She tried to shout, but she couldn’t find her voice. The butterflies flapped around in her stomach like crazy and she felt like she could vomit from the nerves. It only took seconds for him to find her, though. He wore sweats and his hair looked almost greasy from his long flight home, a smile had stretched across his face at the sight of her. But it quickly turned into confusion when he neared.
“What’s this?” he asked, looking at the objects scattering the table as he got closer.
He picked one up to examine and upon seeing what it was, his eyes widened, gasping, “What? No way?” he put the test that he had been holding down and quickly grabbed another one, and another, and another, repeating, “Is that a line? Y/N, is that a line?” before finally grabbing hold of the electric test that read ‘Pregnant’. He gripped it tight, finally looking up at his wife, tears rimming his eyes, “You’re pregnant? We’re going to be parents?”
Y/N grinned, her eyes beginning to water, and nodded, “We’re going to be parents.”
Harry lost it, unable to control his emotions anymore. Two years of pent up sadness had blown out of him and he bawled, collapsing into Y/N’s arms and squeezing her tightly, blubbering, “I’m going to be a dad.”
They waited a while before telling anyone, terrified of their fertility doctor’s prediction that their baby would most likely not stick. But after three months of regular appointment and growth checkups, all of which looked great, they felt comfortable enough to tell their immediate family and very close friends, all of whom were beyond thrilled for the couple.
It was easy to hide her pregnancy for a while. She had no symptoms, she hardly showed, and it was at a time where Y/N and Harry hardly left their house anyway, so most people hadn’t suspected anything. They had managed to get halfway through the pregnancy without any leaks, and finally, at their twenty-week checkup, they would be finding out whether they were having a boy or girl.
They were especially nervous because, although they had been tossing names in the air for months now and had a boy’s name picked out almost right away, they hadn’t been able to agree on a girl name quite yet, and Y/N was almost certain they were having a girl, though Harry had been adamant that it was a boy.
“I don’t care, either way. I just want to know what kind of laugh they’ll have,” Harry said as the ultrasound technician moved the wand around his wife’s belly, taking measurements of all of the baby’s extremities and organs. “Like, will it have that cute high-pitched baby laugh? Or will it have one of those laughs that sounds like demonic possession, you know? I just want to be prepared for what I might hear in the middle of the night.”
Y/N laughed, rolling her eyes, “I hope they have a demonic laugh. Imagine how much more fun Halloween would be? And everyone would be too creeped out by their laughing to want to stay too long. Imagine all of the awkward or boring situations we could get out of because of it.”
Harry’s eyebrows raised, “Well, when you put it like that…”
The nurse giggled at their conversation and turned to face them, “Okay, are we ready to find out the gender?”
“Yes,” they grinned, squeezing each other’s hands tighter.
“Alright, let’s see if baby’s cooperating,” sang the technician, sliding the wand down further and pressing it harder into her skin. They saw their baby’s legs moving around wildly as she tried to get a better look in between their legs, digging the wand in harder. And that’s when they saw it. They shared a look with each other, mouths agape, as the nurse smiled, “It’s a boy.”
Y/N laughed, turning to face her husband, expecting him to start gloating. But she saw the reflection of light hit the water that started to collect at his lash line and a single tear rolled down his cheek, his chin quivering and sniffling as he quickly wiped it away.
“We’re having a boy,” he choked, catching his breath and pressing his lips to her forehead, his hand squeezing hers even harder now. The nurse grinned at his display of emotion as Harry whispered into her ear, “Paxton Robin Styles.”

The sound of ice dropping from the refrigerator and into the metal thermos clanged around the kitchen. Once she was satisfied with the amount in her water bottle, she topped it off with water. As she turned around, screwing the lid into place, the soft hums of her husband could be heard as he came out of their bedroom, their suitcases trailing behind him.
“You know,” she started, the humming coming from her partner reminding her of something, “you still haven’t told me what song you chose to sing tonight.”
“And you know I told you it was a surprise,” he replied, placing the luggage out of the way and coming to stand next to her at the island.
“I hate surprises.”
“No, you don’t.” Dimples formed on his cheeks as he kept his smile tight-lipped, his wife rolling his eyes at her.
“Please! Just tell me,” she jutted out her lower lip in a vain attempt at mocking her brother’s puppy-eyed look.
“Fine, I chose “Having My Baby,’” Jensen sighed, his shoulders sagging.
“You did not! Please tell me you are kidding.”
“What’s wrong with Paul Anka? That song is a classic.” The actor stood up taller, his voice growing defensive.
“I hope to god you are kidding because believe me when I say that if you so much as mention your ‘seed’ in front of hundreds of fans, I’m taking this baby and I’m leaving.” Y/n pointed to the still-growing bump attached to her abdomen before flicking it towards the door, the most serious expression written on her face.
“Oh, so that’s how it’s gonna be? Fine,” Jensen cleared his throat, and she knew it was coming before he even had the chance to open his mouth again. “The need inside you, I see it showin’, oh, the seed inside you, baby, do you feel it growin’—”
Y/n’s hands flew to her ears, the ‘la, la, la’ falling from her lips in an attempt to drown him out. His face split into a wide grin as he snatched her wrists and pulled his wife into his chest, placing a soft kiss to her nose before her lips.
“You’d be so lucky, baby, but no, it’s a surprise. You will find out tonight, so let it go.” Jensen released her from his grip as the security system chimed. It noted movement near the garage door just before the couple heard the voice of her brother coming from the other end of the house.
“Let’s go, Ackles, we’ve got three antsy kids in the car and need to hit the road pronto!” Y/n snatched her backpack and water bottle from the counter as Jensen grabbed their bags and headed towards the garage. The guys took the bags to stuff them in the trunk as Y/n set the house alarm.
Jensen pulled open the passenger side rear door to the Padalecki’s SUV, helping his wife into her seat before climbing in the front passenger seat. They greeted Jared’s kids as the family set out on the road towards Dallas and the Supernatural convention.
****
The sign that flew by on the side of the highway indicated that Dallas was about eighty miles out still, giving them at least another hour until they made it. The kids had long since fallen asleep in the backseat, their bellies full of snacks and their distractions in hand. Y/n glanced back at them before digging out the bag of Goldfish she had packed for her snack. Before she could even get it completely open, her husband’s hand appeared between the side of the vehicle and the seat, palm up. The woman chuckled before dumping a handful into his hand. He transferred the crackers to his left hand before returning his right to its original place to rest it on her calf. Jensen ran his fingers up and down her leg, the action soothing to both of them.
From the seat next to her, Y/n could see her sister-in-law turned to her, a knowing grin on her face. For being an actress, Gen sure did have an awful poker face.
“What?”
“Nothing, I’m just really happy you two found each other,” the smile on Gen’s face growing wider as she spoke, the eyes of the men in the front seats flickering back to her. Jared glanced over from the driver’s seat just quick enough to see what Gen was referring to. There was a twitch of a smile on his face too before he covered it up to fake a gag. “Speaking of, how was Toronto?”
“Oh, I’m in love with Toronto!” Y/n gushed, her mind going back to the trip she made to visit her husband on set. Because of the break-in, they were making up filming days and he couldn’t get away, so the couple decided to celebrate their first anniversary together with her going to visit him. “The city is so beautiful, albeit not as beautiful as Vancouver, but there is just something about it. It reminds me of New York a lot, but like, cleaner.”
“You two had a good weekend?”
“We did. Jensen took me to Alo for dinner, and I know I’m pregnant, but it was the best food I’ve ever had in my life. I wanted to take the chef home with me.” Thinking back to the dish she had, Y/n ran a hand across her abdomen, the memory of her baby coming to life after the meal making her smile to herself.
“I believe you, even if there is something about being pregnant that just makes everything taste better,” Gen giggled along with her sister-in-law, the two of them sharing a secret that their husbands would never understand. “I’m glad you had a good time with what you had.”
“Well, either way, I was going into my third trimester. I was not up for some extravagant trip across the globe. My back hurts too much to pretend to be relaxed.” As she thought about the way her body had continued to change as the finish line came onto the horizon, it was like her body throbbed in response. The makeup artist flexed her limbs, rolling out the kinks from sitting for too long in one position.
“I’m sorry girl, but it only gets worse from here,” Gen scrunched her nose, wishing she could tell her anything but the truth.
Y/n sighed, the action rolling through her whole body, “I was afraid of that.”
****
Clif was waiting at the back doors to the convention center of the Hilton where Creation was hosting their convention this weekend. He was there to escort them all inside as well as stay with Gen and Y/n during the show. Creation provided their own security for Jensen and Jared, so Clif was more than happy to spend time with his favorite girls. They were running a tad late, having hit traffic after dropping the kids off with Jensen’s parents who had graciously offered to babysit.
“Hey, kid,” Clif greeted Y/n with a bear hug once they were inside, his large arms engulfing her and squeezing tight. “Let me look at ya.”
Y/n stepped back as he released her, running a hand over her now unmistakable bump to emphasize it underneath her maternity clothes. “Not much of a kid anymore.”
“No, you aren’t, are ya? Went and let this idiot over here corrupt you.” Clif locked his arm around Jensen’s neck, bringing him into his chest to ruffle his hair with the opposite hand. The group laughed and Jensen struggled to get out of his hold, his hands immediately flying to fix his hair once Clif relented.
“You’ve been spending too much time with Jared,” Jensen scowled at his friends, who shared a look and a shrug. He took his wife’s hand and moved to continue down the hall before pausing to turn back. “And I’ll have you know, she was already corrupted when I got ahold of her. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy the ride.”
A gasp of her husband’s name fell from her open mouth as he tossed everyone a wink and pulled Y/n deeper into the hotel. Her surprise morphed into a giggle as he pulled her along, her cheeks flaring with residual embarrassment. Her family was bound to push him too far one of these days, and she was just waiting for him to drop some sort of bomb on their unsuspecting ears. She just hadn’t anticipated it would be today.
Jensen had been in a particularly good mood since that morning. Y/n couldn’t place whether it was the excitement of being at a convention again or if it was being home, but whatever had him smiling like an idiot she was thankful for. Jensen’s attitude had always been infectious, and right now she was thriving off of it, the joy of being able to make her forget about her swollen ankles and face. It was nice to be in the moment for once.
Louden Swain was already starting their soundcheck on the main stage as she and Jensen entered the hall. Y/n let Jensen go and went to sit in the chairs in the front row to watch them busy themselves around the stage. She was alone until Clif, Jared, and Gen caught up and joined her in the seats. It didn’t take long for the band to run through everything with all their guest stars who would be performing with them. Jensen did a quick verse from “Like A Wrecking Ball” before also joining those that were in the audience.
The fans could be heard already outside the doors to the hall, their excitement palpable even from a couple of hundred feet away. Not that she blamed them, Louden Swain always put on an amazing show, as did the rest of the cast who chose to join them. Her husband was obviously her favorite to watch; the rough honey trickle of his voice had a way of splitting her soul in half. After that, she was obsessed with watching Briana. The woman was a powerhouse and had a way of captivating everyone watching her. It was no secret that she often found herself on YouTube watching Bri and her husband dueting “Shallow,” making it her most-watched video by far.
Everyone was escorted to the green room while fans filled the hall, then Clif escorted them back to watch from the sidelines once the lights went down. They took a seat in the chairs that had been put aside for them against the wall, joining in the squeals of the audience when the guys took the stage.
Louden Swain captivated everyone with their songs and stage presence, as per usual, but when Rob introduced Jensen onto the stage, it was like a train had just rammed into the wall of the hotel. She could feel the floor shaking underneath the insanity that ripped through his fans in the seats of the audience.
“Well, good evening Dallas!” Jensen bounded on the stage, the leather jacket he was wearing somehow looking that much better in the lights of the stage. The Texan pulled Rob into a tight hug before taking his place in front of the microphone stand. The stubble that had arrived in just a few days of not shaving was more evident on his jaw and neck as he craned it sideways to work the stand up to his height. Y/n had to admit he looked absolutely scrumptious.
“I’ve got a new song for you guys tonight that the guys have been so gracious to learn for me.” Jensen paused for the screams from the crowd before continuing his introduction. “This one is for my wife. I love you, honey.” He cast his eyes to where she was seated, watching the smile that spread across his features and letting it calm her anxious heart.
You can hold my hand
When you need to let go
I can be your mountain
When you're feeling valley-low
I can be your streetlight
Showing you the way home
You can hold my hand
When you need to let go
I want a house with a crowded table
And a place by the fire for everyone
Let us take on the world while we’re young and able
And bring us back together when the day is done
Jensen’s foot tapped against the stage as he found his groove in the first verse. Almost instantly, Y/n recognized the opening chords to the song making her heart flutter in her chest. She’d first discovered this song before they’d even found out they were expecting. There was an instant connection to the lyrics, and in typical Y/n fashion, she had played the song on repeat until she knew the lyrics backward and forwards. She really couldn’t believe he’d remembered it.
If we want a garden
We’re gonna have to sow the seed
Plant a little happiness
Let the roots run deep
If it’s love that we give
Then it’s love that we reap
If we want a garden
We're gonna have to sow the seed
After everything the two of them had been through the past few months, the lyrics falling from his lips brought tears to her eyes. She chose to completely ignore the fact that she was pregnant. This was his way of reminding her of that night and the promise he’d made. The actor was more than ready to start a family with her, and he would keep reminding her until he ran out of breath.
The door is always open
Your picture’s on my wall
Everyone’s a little broken
And everyone belongs
Yeah, everyone belongs
I want a house with a crowded table
And a place by the fire for everyone
Let us take on the world while we’re young and able
And bring us back together when the day is done
And bring us back together when the day is done
If Y/n thought that the screams that greeted Jensen on the stage were deafening, it had nothing on the roar that now filled the hall, never mind the thrumming of her heart in her chest. She was sure time had stopped. Her husband blew a kiss to the audience before bowing off stage. It was his disappearance from before the mic that had on her feet without a second thought, chasing after him behind the stage and to the green room.
She burst through the doors, her eyes meeting his as he turned to the sound of the latch. Without a second thought to the others in the room, the pregnant woman launched herself into her husband’s arms. Both of them dug their faces into the embrace, knowing just what the other needed at that moment.
“You’re right, I did love this surprise,” she mumbled against his neck. Jensen ran a hand down her hair, his arms instinctively squeezing her tighter to him as she spoke.
“Anything for you, babe.”

Behind the scenes of conventions was far less exhilarating for the guests than it was for the fans attending. It was quiet in the green room, most people eating or napping in between events they were to attend, which was why Y/n and Gen chose to stay behind the next morning and let the kids sleep in as much as possible. The guys were up at the crack of dawn to get to the hotel in time for the gold panel, and neither wanted to deal with pulling three little ones out of bed that early.
It was nearly midday by the time the girls had wrangled the kids into the car and to the hotel. Clif met them at the back door much like he had done the night before, ready to escort them wherever they wanted to go. When they arrived in the green room, the guys were off to their respective photo op rooms.
The kids took center stage when they got there, livening up the room in an instant. Odette fed off the attention far more than her brothers did but being the youngest, that didn’t come as a shock to anyone. Y/n wanted to hit the vendor’s room before her husband got back and they had to be on stage for the main panel. There were often hidden gems at some of the booths and she wanted to support the small business that set up there. She invited Gen to join her, and naturally, Odette wanted to tag along. The two of them left the boys in the capable hands of Kim and Briana before grabbing Clif and heading out.
The room was bustling with people who were in between activities when they entered. Y/n picked up the small girl and put her on her hip so she could keep better track of her, not that Odette protested. They made their way to a booth surrounded by original artwork. Most of the displayed pieces were Supernatural related, but there were a few other pieces that encompassed other shows and movies, as well as art that encompassed just about anything else. Y/n got the artist’s information, intending to order an original piece from her.
From there, it didn’t take long for the room to realize who had joined them. The hushed whispers of the con attendees could be heard as they moved on to a shop that sold handmade jewelry. Luckily the looming presence of Clif was enough to keep people at bay. He was very good at subtly guiding those who dared to walk up to them away from the scene. Right now they preferred peace and would greet some people once they were finished looking.
Gen bought something from the jeweler for Odette, seeing as once the toddler set her mind to something, she was relentless. Then the trio moved on to a few more booths before acknowledging the fans in the room. Clif took Odette from Y/n while the wives talked with some people in the room. There were many congratulations and asks for photos which Y/n politely declined while Gen agreed.
With a glance at her watch, Y/n signaled to Gen it was time to head back. They said goodbye to the fans and headed back to the green room. Jared and Jensen were back already when they entered, eating a quick snack before they had to go back on stage.
Jensen pushed his chair back from the table when he spotted his wife. He patted his thigh as she made her way towards him and she took a tentative seat in his lap. The actor placed a kiss on the underside of her jaw before offering her the food on his plate. She decided on a carrot, biting into the hard vegetable as her husband spoke.
“I missed you this morning.”
“I know, I missed you too. Still hate waking up to an empty bed,” she frowned, tossing the other half of the carrot in her mouth.
“Just a few more weeks, then I’m done and it’s just you, me, and this baby,” Jensen promised, resting his large hand over her growing abdomen. He ran his thumb over the swell of her stomach as she contemplated his words.
“Promise?” She cocked her head, knowing full well he intended every word. Before he could answer, the Creation handlers appeared to grab the boys and bring them to the stage.
“Promise,” he kissed her again before urging her off his lap so they could head out. Gen rounded up the kids to go and Jared picked up his daughter to carry her out to the show. Jensen and Y/n walked hand in hand down the back hallway until they had to go separate ways. Jared handed Odette over to his wife and they were off to get show-ready.
The girls and the kids followed behind Clif and took the empty seats in the front row far off on the right side of the stage, the lights lowering just as they were getting settled. Rob and Rich appeared and did their usual bit before introducing the boys onto the stage.
Watching them together was something Y/n always enjoyed. The two actors played off of each other so well and never failed to make her chuckle. Especially now, she loved that after everything that had happened, their relationship was not hindered. They were truly brothers on and off camera, and Y/n couldn’t ask for anything better.
Jensen went to his usual chair on the right side of the stage, pulling it more forward and center before sitting down as the crowd continued to cheer for them. Jared followed suit, spinning his chair around and putting as close to Jensen’s as was humanly possible. Her husband frowned and leaned away from Jared, who only played along and leaned into his best friend.
Jensen brought the mic to his lips and scowled, “Dude, why are you so close to me?”
“Cause we’re family now, officially bonded by blood,” Jared retorted, still trying to lean into Jensen as he continued to pull away. The older man rolled his eyes at his brother-in-law’s antics but couldn’t fight the smile on his face as the crowd cheered at Jared’s words.
“Don’t remind me.” Jared leaned into Jensen, whispering something in his ear before the pair shared another laugh. Jared spun around and started the questioning. They got a few typical questions about Supernatural and the final season, nothing too crazy, but one specifically piqued Y/n’s interest.
The girl asking the question stood not even twenty feet from her at the mic on the right side of the room. “My question is for Jensen.” Her voice was steady, but she was looking at her feet as she spoke. “Now that you are on The Boys, the show has far more carnage than Supernatural, and you have said in the past that you dislike being covered in fake blood, so I was wondering if you have come to terms with it, or has your hatred only grown?”
Jensen threw his head back in laughter at her question, surprised that he hadn’t been asked it before today. “Well, you are right, I have not been shy about my contempt of stage blood, but nowadays I do find it far less annoying than I once did. I think I got over it filming season fifteen. There is nothing like staring at a beautiful woman to take your mind off of the stickiness. Y/n was a great distraction.”
“Alright, that’s my baby sister you are talking about,” Jared faked a gag before dropping his mic in his usual fashion as the crowd let out a collective ‘awe.’ Jensen shrugged before moving on to the next question. He rounded to the next fan on the opposite side of the stage.
“Hi,” the boys said in unison, bright smiles on their faces for the girl.
“First of all, I want to congratulate Jensen on the pregnancy. So, my question is for Jensen and Jared. Jensen, since you learned about the pregnancy, has your perception of life and love changed, and if so, how? And for Jared, being a father yourself, what are some things or advice you would like to share with Jensen? How has becoming a dad changed you? Thank you!” The girl stuttered around her words, her nerves of having the guy’s undivided attention seeping through her voice.
“What?!” Jared dropped his jaw as he turned his head back to look at his brother in law in the seat next to him. “You’re pregnant?”
Jensen leaned back in his chair and ran a hand down his torso, “Do you think I’m showing yet?”
“No dude, you look good, women everywhere hate you.” The duo fell into a fit of laughter, their heads were thrown back in unison at their stupid joke. Naturally, the whole crowd joined in. How could one not when those two were cracking up? It was infectious.
“I’m sorry about my friend here. Thank you, we are very excited.” Jensen leaned around Jared to smile at the fan that stood with a Random Acts volunteer’s arm around her shoulders. “As for your question, it didn’t really hit me until we heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time. Anyone who has kids knows how important that moment is. I never thought I could love my wife more than I already did, but there is something about looking at the woman you love carrying your child. It’s a completely different kind of connection to another human being. As for our baby, well, she was just a flicker on the screen then, but I knew there was nothing I wouldn’t do for that flicker.”
“Y/n is gonna kill you later for saying ‘she,’” Jared cut in, but Jensen just smirked knowingly. The man always had to cut the emotion with a joke, something the pair of them had in common. Life was too short to always be so serious anyway.
“Well, what about you dad?”
“What are you talking about?”
“She asked you a question too, so answer it,” Jensen reminded his costar, much to the amusement of everyone around them.
“Oh yeah. Well, I’ve given Jensen tons of advice. He’s constantly coming to me for my superior wisdom.” Jensen frowned behind him, his eye roll visible even from the back of the room. “Nah, but in all seriousness, the best piece of advice I could ever give him would be to just be there for your wife, whatever she needs. She just gave you a child, the least you could do is get her some water and snacks during feedings.”
In the shadows of the audience, Gen leaned over to Y/n, whispering in her ear, “I think he’s done that maybe twice.” Y/n laughed along with her friend, knowing full well that sounded just like Jared.
“Being a dad has taught me an abundance of patience and understanding. While they are your kids, they are also humans with real feelings and thoughts. It’s important to listen to your children, and I mean really listen to them. It’s not easy some days, but what they’ll remember in twenty years is whether mom and dad were there or not, so that’s what’s most important to me.” The girl whispered a shaky ‘thank you’ to the guys before they moved on. There were more questions about Supernatural, Walker, and The Boys, but what Y/n didn’t expect was another question regarding her, the words cutting her like ice as they left the fan’s mouth.
"Now that Y/N is pregnant, how hard is it being away from her while filming? How do you handle the emotions of being away from your wife in this kind of situation?" The fan had a bright smile on her face as she asked a question that was sure to have the fans falling even more in love with her husband and the amazing man he was.
Gen’s hand fell on her shoulder as she noticed her sister-in-law’s body tense, awaiting the answer from the actor on stage. Jensen turned his gaze to her, offering a small smile to her before turning back to the fan.
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I feel like I’m dumping everything on her shoulders and leaving her to figure it out alone, and I hate that. You know, I made a promise to her on our wedding day that I would always be there for her, and I feel like I’m breaking that promise. On the nights that the baby is rolling around and not letting her get any sleep, she will FaceTime me to show me, and anyone who’s ever seen this knows it’s just as cool as it is creepy when it looks like the kid is trying to escape from her stomach.” Jared nodded in agreement alongside him as the audience laughed at his admission. “My heart clenches in those moments because I know there are a hundred other moments that I don’t get to be there for, but even more so that my wife doesn’t get to have me next to her for. I know it’s just as hard on her, experiencing all these new milestones alone. We are both just very lucky that she has Jared and Gen so close. Those two have been her rock through this whole thing.”
“If there is anyone who can handle it, it’s Y/n,” Jared cut in, sensing his friend’s growing discomfort. “My sister is one of the strongest women I know, so don’t worry about her too much, Jay.”
“Right, yes my mistake, what was I thinking worrying about my pregnant wife?” The shorter Texan played up his words with a stiff nod of his head, much to the enjoyment of the crowd. The guys thanked the fan for her question just as Rob and Rich came back on stage, starting up the last question song. Y/n excused herself then to go to the restroom, assuring Clif she’d be okay and she would be right back, imploring him to stay with Gen and the kids.
The pregnant woman slipped past Creation security near the stage to the hall that led to the bathrooms. She sped down the hall on her toes, the urgency not hitting her until she stood up. Her mind was focused on getting to the bathroom, unconcerned about anything else until she was inside the first open stall. Y/n took care of her business, coming out of the stall to a figure standing directly across from her at the sinks. Her eyes trailed up the broad person who had their back to her until she met their eyes in the mirror.
“No!” The gasp left her lips, her feet instinctively stepping backward until her back hit the stall.
“Hi, Y/n,” the man’s voice was rough, the sound of grating against every nerve in her body. It perfectly matched the smirk that he held as he turned to face her, the same smirk that had been haunting her dreams for weeks now. The woman swallowed around the lump in her throat as her pulse rose, the thrum of it beating behind her ears.
“How?” It was the only thing she could force past her lips as her mind raced through all the possible outcomes of this encounter. If anything, she was trying to buy time until someone came looking for her, but she had no idea how long that could be.
“I expected a hello, but I guess I can’t really blame you,” the guy shrugged, his nonchalance unsettling Y/n even more than she already was. “I’ve been waiting for you for a long time now.”
“Waiting for me?”
“It was only a matter of time before we found our way to each other,” he took a step closer to Y/n, her heart skipping in her chest at the action. No matter how frightened she was at this moment, Y/n refused to back down. Instead, she squared her shoulders and lifted her chin at the man.
“Wh-what do you want?” Her tongue tripped over her words and the woman fought to control her breaths, letting the air out slowly through her nose as she refused to look away from the stalker across from her.
“I want you. It’s always been you. For years I’ve waited for you to come to your senses about that actor you call your husband, but it seems you may need a little push,” he explained as his feet began to pace in a line, cutting off her only route to the door of the bathroom, to her freedom.
“Excuse me?” Y/n was genuinely confused now, her adrenaline-soaked brain struggling to comprehend what he was telling her.
“He’s all wrong for you. The bastard married you and ran off to Canada the second he could, leaving you to tend to his house, and now look at you, knocked up with his spawn and he still could give a rat’s ass about you.” The man’s voice was rising in tone as he became agitated, with what exactly she wasn’t sure, but she didn’t want to stick around to find out.
“My husband loves me—”
“No!” He rounded on her, his pacing halted as he looked at her. “He’s poison. He doesn’t care about you or your career, he only cares about what you can do for him, but me? I’ve been your number one fan since the beginning. With me, your possibilities are limitless. Nobody could stop us.”
It was now even more apparent to her at that moment that this guy was far more unhinged than she had originally thought. He believed with every fiber of his being that what he was saying was the truth, she could see it in the fire raging behind his eyes. It was the same fire that had her biting her tongue from firing back. She had more than just herself to think about in this situation, and she had no one way of knowing how he would react, but she also knew that staying in that bathroom was not an option either.
It was now or never. He was no longer pacing across her escape route, and she wasn’t that far from the door. If she could at least get on the other side of it, she could create a commotion to draw attention. The second his eyes flickered from her own, she leaped into action, setting her focus on the door, and only the door. As her fingers wrapped around the handle, she felt his rough grip on her bicep. She was only able to get the door open a fraction of an inch, but it was enough. Her frantic eyes met with the shocked ones of Gen and Clif on the other side of the door.
“Damn it!” He hollered as he yanked her back. The door didn’t even have time to close before Clif was pushing his way into the bathroom after her, watching as Y/n stumbled and nearly fell on her ass from the force of the stranger’s pull.
“Alright, let her go,” Clif’s voice was calm and demanding as he assessed the scene in front of him. “Don’t make this worse for you than it already is.”
“You make it sound so easy,” the guy chuckled dryly, the sound of it finally breaking whatever false sense of confidence Y/n had created. Preparing for a struggle, she squeezed her eyes shut, the action sending the welled up tears cascading down her cheeks.
“It is that easy. Because trust me, if you hurt her, it will be the last thing you ever do.” The sound of the bathroom door opening again had her opening her eyes, a few of Creation’s security guards filing in to back up Clif. Knowing he was outnumbered, the man roughly released his grip on Y/n’s arm. The pregnant woman scrambled away from him, past security, and out into the hallway.
“Y/n...” The sudden grip around her wrist startled the traumatized woman, her body reacting against it until her gaze met the familiar green eyes of her husband. Her body relaxed in an instant, throwing her into his arms as a sob racked through her body. Jensen squeezed his wife in his arms, holding her shaking frame close to his chest as she let out all her emotions. He shared a look with Jared before burying himself into her as well, just as relieved to have her back as she was to be free.
It had only been about thirty seconds since Gen had come running back from checking on Y/n to tell them that something was wrong, but it was all it took. He felt his heart sink as he looked at the fear in Gen’s eyes. He and Jared were up from their chairs like lightning, allowing their long legs to get them to the bathroom with security hot on their tail. It killed him to have to wait outside, but he knew it was the best chance of getting her out of there safely, so he bit his tongue and did as he was told. None of that mattered now anyway, she was safe in his arms, and that was the most important thing.
It felt like an eternity later when the cops showed up, taking the place of the unarmed security detail. They emerged with the guy in cuffs, a deep scowl on his face as he was carted out of the hotel, Clif and the security following behind.
“Clif, what the fuck happened?!” Jensen growled, fury about the day’s events creeping upon him, seeing the guy that had his hands on his wife only fanning the fire in his belly.
“I’m sorry, Jensen—” Clif's words were cut off by the raging actor.
“You’re sorry? You were supposed to be protecting her!” Y/n lifted her head from her husband’s shoulder, using the back of her sleeve to wipe away the tears and snot from her face. The man’s whole body was tense, the anger rolling off of him of barely perceptible vibrations.
“Hey, Jay,” she put her hands on his face, making him look at her. Reluctantly, he tore his gaze from Clif to look at his wife, his face softening as he took in her fragile state. “It’s not his fault. I told him to stay with Gen.”
“Y/n/n...”
“No. Clif is not to blame right now and you know it,” Y/n lowered her voice, the little bit of sternness she was able to muster dissipating. “You’re scared and I am too, but don’t take that out on him.” Jensen nodded at her, leaning in to kiss her forehead with trembling lips.
“I’m sorry, Clif,” Jensen breathed, his eyes opening slowly to look back up at his long time friend. Still trying to come to his senses over what had just happened, he had one arm around his wife, refusing to break contact with her. The fear of being out of control was still too overpowering.
“It’s okay, I understand.” The two men shared a nod. Emotions were still on high, and everyone needed a moment to take in the events that had just transpired. Before anything else could be said, one of the cops cut through the tense scene playing out in the middle of the hotel hallway. He had a concerned look on his face, but he had a job to do too.
“Ma’am, can I ask you a couple of questions?”

synopsis: You finally work up the courage to go back home for día de muertos after nearly twelve years for a trip you find that both you and George needed.
pairing: George Weasley x hispanic!reader
warnings: mentions of death, mentions of the wizarding war(s), a bit of grieving
a/n: I know, I’m bad at time management but I loved this idea too much to not post it. I know it says hispanic reader but please don’t feel like you need to be one to give this a read!
Also I’m a native spanish speaker so if you google translate the spanish it might not make too much sense so I’ve put the spanish phrases in italics and the translations will be right after [bolded and in brackets like this] just to make it a little easier to read.
I’m curious to know what you guys think about this one so feel free to hit me up with your thoughts/questions if you’d like!
Tumblr media
The soft golds and warm reds that met every single place your eyes landed on brought back an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia. Sugar and smoke mixed together in the air like nothing else did and it was like you were seeing yourself as a child all over again. Memories floated around in your brain. Ones that were happy. Ones you knew didn’t deserve the treatment you’d been giving them recently.
“Can you tell me about these?”
The sound of George’s voice interrupted your thoughts. He was drifting towards one side of the uneven cobblestone street crowded with people and lined with booths. You couldn’t help but stare at the soft, excited smile on his face as he looked all around him. He was curious and it was a look on him you’d never get enough of.
With a smile on your face you held his hand tighter and pulled him in the direction of a booth covered in little wooden animals painted in every bright color you could imagine. You picked one up and set it in the palm of your hand, grinning in amusement when George touched the top of its head just to see it bob up and down again.
“It’s an alebrije,” You told him, setting down the little figure. Almost immediately he picked up another to examine it more closely. “It’s mostly just art. Tomorrow especially, though, they decorate almost every ofrenda since kids tend to love them.”
George nodded, hanging on every word you told him just as he had been for the last two days. It had been that long since the two of you had arrived at your mother’s house. It was only that long that you stayed and now you were headed off to the place you really wanted to visit.
“Tomorrow’s the first day, right?” George had to resist the urge to pick up every single little creature he saw and hand over a pile of colored bills. Instead he let you pull him away again, his attention being caught by all the buildings surrounding him.
“Yeah. Everything has to be prepared by nightfall to greet the spirits of children on the first of November.” You nodded and stared down at the stones underneath your feet, kicking a few across the street as you walked. George immediately noticed your silence but before he could say anything you spoke again, looking up at him with a newfound smile on your face. “Have I ever told you about my Tia Valeria?”
“Once or twice,” He laughed a bit, recalling the countless stories you’d told him before already. He dropped your hand just long enough to be able to throw an arm around your shoulders to pull you closer to him as you walked. “Tell me more.”
“We’re going to see her now actually,” When he looked at you shocked you only grinned. “She’s the one who took me in after I started at Ilvermorny. My mom wasn’t too into the whole magic thing after -”
You stopped again and George knew exactly why. It was the same reason you’d avoided being home for years now. It had been twelve years now since you’d been back and it had taken a lot of convincing along with an argument or two to get you here. He didn’t fail to notice the way you plastered another smile onto your face, pushing the topic to the back of your mind.
“Anyway places like these are called pueblos mágicos [magical towns] by the muggle government. See how every place here is a different color?” You watched as George looked around again, waiting until his attention drifted back to continue. “It’s to symbolize the town’s culture. For some places it’s the history it has, others it's the traditions that have been in place for as long as anyone can remember, and for some it's just the natural beauty they have. They’re called magic because of those reasons. There’s 121 right now all over Mexico but there’s something muggles don’t know about them.”
“What’s that?” George asked before you could say another word. When he caught you holding back a laugh he rolled his eyes playfully before leaning down to press a kiss to your cheek.
“Come see for yourself,” You turned down a seemingly normal street until you came to a steep grey staircase that looked like it was built right into the rising hillside.
But you didn’t go up the staircase. Instead you moved to the right side and placed a hand on a statue that sat on the very bottom step. Once again George focused only on your movements as you dropped his hand and traced a swirling pattern on the back of the statue, mumbling a quiet revelio.
There wasn’t a single thing you did that didn’t amaze him and this wasn’t any different. He watched as the stone stairs shifted, morphing into an archway before his own eyes revealing a whole separate part of the town that looked even more alive than the one they’d just snuck to the outskirts of.
“Almost all of them are hiding actual magical communities.” You smiled as you stepped into the shimmering archway, turning around to find George more astonished than ever before. “Well c’mon.”
George had been in awe of everything you’d shown him so far. The view of the sun setting from the peak of the little town your mother lived in. The carefully crafted decorations that hung all over. The sea of colors that blended perfectly together everywhere he looked. The way you lit up with excitement every time he asked you to tell him more about the things and places you grew up around.
This place was different though. It was so much like the places he’d visited as a kid but at the same time it was in a league of its own. There were kids running around and potions shops and small evidence of magic everywhere. But there were also items he didn’t recognize in shop windows and spells being said he hadn’t heard before. He wasn’t too sure he’d ever seen anything like it at all.
“She’s waiting for us,” You said after glancing at the pocket watch that hung on a chain on your own bag. “Trust me, we don’t want to be late.”
George didn’t move though. Instead he bit his lip momentarily before fidgeting a bit and holding on tighter to you. “I’m nervous.”
“You’re nervous? Really?” You couldn’t help but smile as you moved back in his direction.
“Don’t laugh,” As he said the words, though, he let out a laugh of his own. “Fred and I must’ve read practically all her books when we were trying to work out some of the products for the shop. It’s a little intimidating meeting somebody who has their own chocolate frog card.”
“But your own brother has one?”
“He doesn’t count,” George shook his head and gave in and started walking beside you again. He didn’t take in everything just yet, though. “Honestly, do you think she’ll like me?”
You nodded without hesitation. “I know she will.”
It took an extra hour but finally you and George had managed to weave your way through the countless streets until you reached the main square, only stopping to buy little trinkets twice.
The door you walked up to led to a shop that had papel picado decorating the outside of the windows. It wasn’t like the ones you’d seen earlier though. These had little figures dancing across the colored paper, almost looking like they were laughing.
You smiled at the sight of them, memories of helping your aunt make and enchant them flashing through your mind. George’s eyes followed the little figures across the paper and he laughed at the sight of them, “You said she makes them herself right?”
“More than just a world renowned alchemist,” You smirked a bit as you walked into the shop with ease despite the closed sign on the door. “Though I guarantee she’s still going to yell at us for being late so get ready for that.”
It was like it was planned. The moment the words left your mouth was the moment your tias voice rang from the back of the shop. George chuckled at the way you winced and started trudging towards the source.
“Que hora es esta de llegar? Ya pasan de las seis, te dije que llegaras antes de las tres!”
[”What time do you think it is? It’s passed six and I told you to get here before three!”]
“I know, I know,” You sighed as you stepped into the backyard the shop led into. It was covered in plants of all sorts, both magical and non magical. No less than three crups ran back and forth all over the place, the biggest of which barked loudly and ran for you. “Es que este quería ver las ofrendas que pusieron en el pueblo alla afuera. Como le puedia dicer no, iralo, que lindo.”
[“Well this one wanted to see the ofrendas they put up all around the town. How was I supposed to say no, look how cute he is!”]
“Quien -” [“Who -”] She looked up suddenly, forgetting for a moment that you were bringing somebody with you. Almost immediately she sighed and she put down the large steel cauldron she’d been burning some leaves in. “Of course!”
“Tia this is -”
“Don’t bother, mija, I know exactly who he is already,” She walked over and stood beside you, staring at George as if sizing him up despite the fact that she was at least a foot shorter. He couldn’t help but feel as if she was looking into the very depths of his mind and honestly given what he knew about her he wouldn’t be surprised if she was. “Es el marido.” [“He’s the husband.”]
“Novio, tia,” [“Boyfriend, tia,”] You tried to fight the blush that crept up your face as you shook your head quickly. “We’re not quite there yet.”
“Y porque no?” [“And why not?”]
You changed the subject quickly, shooting around to face George again. He could tell you wanted to change the topic but frankly he was curious about the bits and pieces of the conversation he was able to pick up. “George meet -”
“Call me Valeria,” Your aunt immediately waved you off, shooting a momentary glare in your direction, silently telling you the conversation was one you’d be forced to continue later. “Believe me, I’ve heard so much about you, mijo, we hardly need an introduction.”
“Thanks for letting me come visit,” The quickness with which he went from feeling a little nervous to completely at ease surprised him. It felt shockingly similar to being at his own home and he loved it immediately.
“Por supuesto,” [“Of course,”] She shook her head with a smile that faltered for only a second, so fast that he almost didn’t notice it. “I think we all needed this after the year we’ve had.”
“So um,” You gulped a bit at the overwhelming sound of silence that felt much too loud. More memories flashed through your head. This time it was everything you had dealt with during the war. Things you shouldn’t have had to face but ones you did anyway without hesitation. The fights and the training and the dueling and the teaching.
It was all the reason you had gone to England in the first place. What had started off as an assignment turned into something you couldn’t have possibly imagined. Funny enough you didn’t regret parts of it at all.
“Where do we start?”
*
George had rarely been anxious before in his life. He didn’t like the feeling. Not at all. But as he stared down at all the things he’d brought with him with your assurance that they would do, he found himself slowly pushing the feeling away.
It was especially comforting to feel your presence right next to him despite the fact that you were as anxious as he was. It was your first time celebrating dia de muertos in twelve years. He knew all about your own struggles with accepting what had happened during the first wizarding war all those years ago.
It was then that your father had died in a duel not a couple days before the first defeat. When you were old enough to understand you’d decided immediately you would follow in his footsteps. It was the cause of the rift that had grown between you and your mother, the same one that pushed you and your aunt closer than ever before.
She was the one to support you when you decided to attend Ilvermorny over Castelobruxo. She was the one who had told you stories of your father. She was the one who had seen you off when you left for England and never once judged you for not being able to handle the overwhelming emotions and memories that flooded your mind at the beginning of every November.
And she was the one who stood with you now, helping to prepare the ofrenda that would soon hold pieces of memories you'd been ignoring for twelve years.
“Three levels,” Your voice was soft and a little hoarse as you took George’s hand in yours, each of you feeding off of the feeling of each other. “They represent the underworld, the earth, and the sky.”
You moved to hand George various pieces of papel picado before picking up the purple tablecloth and the white lace for yourself. “Hang these along the edges and above.”
He could easily recall the explanations you’d given him as the two of you had bought the rest of your necessary items earlier. George looked between you and your aunt for a moment before gently touching the tip of his wand to each piece, watching as the little figures came to life right before his eyes. “The wind right?”
“When they blow in the wind it means our difuntos [deceased] have arrived,” Valeria offered him a smile that didn’t quite look completely there before handing him the orange marigolds he’d seen everywhere the last few days. “The charm to get the petals off the cempazúchitl is simple. Scatter the petals up all the way from the front doorway to the foot of the ofrenda.”
George stared at the marigolds in his hands for a few moments, frozen in place. The color was bold and loud and reminded him too much of his brother. There was a bouquet of them sitting on the kitchen table at the Burrow and they were the exact same kind of flower he had left in front of Fred’s grave just a few days before alongside you.
You had told him the meaning of them then and your words echoed through his head now. They’ll help guide him home.
When he came back you’d finished setting up the bottom level with your Tia Valeria finished the highest level. You walked over to him the second he entered the room, wiping the ashes off of your hands before reaching up and setting a hand on his cheek.
George hadn’t realized there were a few tears in his eyes until you gently wiped them away. It was silently that you reached up and pressed a soft kiss to his lips and almost immediately he sighed.
“Are you ready?” You nodded behind you and when he looked he could see your aunt digging out several pictures from a cabinet on the other side of the room. “This is the most important part.”
It took George a few moments before he nodded, eying the bag he’d left in the living room carefully. “I’m ready.”
First came several mismatched cups and two large pitchers of water. Each cup was poured to the top and the pitchers were refilled before they too were set on the middle level. Next was the bread you’d picked up from a bakery, pan de muerto, along with the sugar skulls.
Valeria put down a variety of sweets, ones she said your grandfather, uncles, and various other family members loved. You placed a few bars of a bittersweet chocolate you’d picked up at a store in the muggle part of the plaza earlier on the table. The same ones you could vaguely remember your dad always having stocked in his pockets. George put down a couple chocolate frogs and a box of Every Flavor Beans, the bad ones already picked out.
The three of you laughed together as you put a couple different bottles of alcohol, both magical and non magical, down next. A bottle of Ogden’s Old Firewhiskey brought back more than a few bittersweet memories of Order meetings at 12 Grimmauld Place.
Then it was time for the pictures. One by one photos of family members who had passed were set on the ofrenda. Your grandfather and one of his brothers who had both fought against Grindelwald years ago. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins alike. Your father who’d been a casualty of the first wizarding war.
George held on to the picture of Fred for a second, not daring to look at it just yet. You couldn’t bring yourself to either, you’d been close to both of them after all.
“Let me tell you something my brother, your father, told me when our papa died,” Valeria walked over and took the picture out of George’s hands. It was clear where you got your personality from because she placed one hand on top of your intertwined ones.
The two of you watched as she looked at the picture, smiled, then moved towards the ofrenda.
“Hay que vivir sonriendo para morir contentos,” She set the picture in the very middle right next to the chocolate frogs, a handful of ton-tongue toffees, and a faux wand. “You have to live smiling to die happy. What do you think your brother would say if he was here now?”
George suddenly let out a loud laugh and looked at you, both of you thinking the same thing. “Reckon he’d tell us to snap out of it.”
“Then snap out of it,” Valeria took out her wand and placed it at George’s temple first. “Think of your happiest memory of him.”
George closed his eyes and thought his hardest for the perfect one. When he found it he let out a shaky exhale and nodded. His eyes opened just in time to see a blue whisp at the end of the wand being placed into a vial.
Valeria repeated the same process with you, telling you to think of your dad. Then she took the vials and set them down on the ofrenda. “Memorias, memories, to remind them of how much we love them.” She then motioned towards the single bottle of firewhiskey that was left on the counter and grinned at the two of you.
“Vengan, [Come on,] that bottle isn’t going to drink itself.”
*
Three days later both you and George felt more at ease than you had in awhile. The celebrations had come and gone and you’d cried a bit, sure, but also laughed and took part in every celebration going on both in the magical part of town and the muggle part.
You’d even gone to visit your father’s grave for the first time since you were just five years old. The strange feeling of being at peace was one you weren’t expecting. One you weren’t sure you’d ever feel again.
But there you were sitting in the middle of your Tia Valeria’s backyard in the dark watching the fireworks dance across the sky for the third night in a row.
“Did I ever say thank you?” George asked from where his head was laying in your lap as your hands ran through his hair. He was focused only on you and chuckled a little when you grew genuinely surprised.
You shook your head, hair falling in front of your face as you looked at him. “For what, mi amor?”
He couldn’t help but grin at the name, now knowing fully well what it meant, and reached for you. “For making it easier. For being there for me when I really didn’t think I could get through it.”
A soft look of complete understanding and affection spread across your face as you took his hand. “You did the same for me, you know.”
“Guess we really did need this then, didn’t we?”
“Yeah,” You nodded, kissing the palm of his hand before letting your head fall onto it. “We did.”
“Any chance we can come back soon?” George laughed again and looked up at the sky, his view a combination of you, the fireworks, and the dozens of the little wooden alebrijes he’d finally given in and bought flying all around. “I quite like it here.”
“Any time you want, mi amor.”

***also this is after breaking dawn and the cullens r gone and resume never happens :)
your mother had called la push her childhood home. it was the place she had learned to walk and ride a bike, it was where she experienced her first love and heartbreak, and the place where she knew unconditional love and friendship.
embry’s mother had been her best friend since she could talk, the woman knew her like she had known herself. where one was, you could always find the other.
they were the same person, all before yours had moved away. the second she was able to free herself of the chilled and misty winds of the torrential northwest, she was gone.
while she was utterly in love with the life she built, she itched for something beyond the quiet comfort of gentle rain. still, she always knew that she could find solace in the waterlogged soil if she ever needed.
and so she began with college, where she rooted herself with a man just a few short years older than herself. she moved in tandem with him, where he stepped, she followed.
when she fell pregnant with you, she found herself settling down and building a home. from crumpled photos on the fridge, to the sea smoothed stone that littered the windowsill above the sink, she left subtle reminders of the home she had left behind.
your father was initially a happy man, loud and boisterous with a grin so contagious, even the moon smiled back. you suppose it was what your mother had fallen for.
as you grew, his sunny aura shifted, hidden from the dark and looming clouds of a more than stressful work week. by the time you hit middle school, you understood that even though he had loved you and your mother, his priorities were found elsewhere.
your mother understood that raising you was best alone. though her husband responsible, living with the shell of the man he once was, was pointless. he was far too rooted within the floorboards of his office to quell the brewing storm of their marriage.
by the time you were in high school, your parents had divorced, and your mother had asked you about moving back to her own home town.
while she understood that moving away from your own home could be hard, all she had to do was mention embry.
Embry Call was the highlight of your summers. Your father was always too busy for family vacations, and so your mother always took you to La Push for a few weeks during the summer or over the holiday. Her job allowed to work from the comfort of her home, so trips to visit Embry and his mother weren’t entirely uncommon.
whenever you went to visit, you were both joined at the hip. As children, your fingers were always laced as he brought you all over the reservation. From the beaches to the middle of the forrest, he made sure you always ended up caked in mud, hair tangled messy.
In middle school, you were introduced to Jake and Quil, where you graduated from mud pies and forts, onto bonfires and the dryness of jake’s workshop.
of course, you still went on the occasional hike with embry, eager for at least some alone time away from your mutual friends.
it was pretty obvious that the both of you liked each other, but you were young. it was playground love, if you could even call it that.
into high school you stopped visiting so much, your mother grew busier, and you began to focus more on your own studies... during the summer, you enjoyed time at home, with friends not so far away.
still, you both stuck to phone calls. they were generally late at night, usually with the excuse of studying and school. you had no idea that it was actually because he ran on a much later schedule due to his shift.
and so when she all but mentioned Embry Call, you agreed... apprehensively, of course. at the end of the day though, you knew that you wouldn’t exactly be alone.
and truth me told, you always kind of liked it there better... the memories you made in la push were the best you had.
when you had arrived in la push, your mother had breathed in the air with a gentle smile, eyes closed as she took in the misty air. it was then when you began to wonder how much she had actually missed her home there.
embry’s mother had come to help unpack, explaining that embry was off running a couple of errands for her. a lie of course.
you were obviously bummed, a small pout gracing your features before your mother had all but rushed you to start unpacking. embry was not forgotten, the boy still on your mind as you grumbled throughout the rest of the night.
it wasn’t until after dark, when the sky was surprisingly clear with stars, did you get to see your long time friend.
with a knock to the door, and a shout from your mother telling you to answer it, you had flown down the stairs... with a small gripe of course. she was in the dining room. why couldn’t she get it?
the attitude all but vanished from your being as you opened the door to see embry, so much more different than you had last remembered.
it took you a moment to recognize him— his chest and shoulders were broad, hair cut short compared to the long inky strands that you were used to.
it took maybe a few seconds at most to register that the boy standing before you was indeed embry, and once that small fact had clicked, you all but flung yourself into his arms.
“em, oh my god just look at you! what in the hell did you do to your hair?!” your exclamation was muddled into nothing to embry, taking a few seconds himself to respond to your embrace.
little did you know that when the door had flung open, and his eyes met yours, his mind went blank as the world stopped spinning. the only thing on his mind, was you.
with gentle hands, he pulled you close and returned your hug. he had laughed a little bit, letting go of the breath he seemed to be holding, “it’s good to see you too, y/n”
embry hadn’t expected to imprint at all, let alone on the one person he wanted it to be the most. it was the first time he had seen you since his shift, and he had all but forced himself to forget any chances with you. all until you had opened the door.
you pulled away with a grin, quick to tug him inside your home, “you okay though? looks like i lost you in space there for a second.” and in all honesty, it looked as if he still was.
“yeah yeah, no... i’m okay! promise. i just... i’ve got a lot on my mind, is all.” you chose not to pay any attention to the way his eyes looked to the ceiling when he spoke, or the way he stammered out his response.
instead, you turned to your mother, where she sat at the counter with embry’s mom, tea in hand. They were smug as you spoke, “if it’s okay, i’m going to drag embry upstairs... i can’t put my bed frame together for the life of me.”
your mother shrugged her shoulders and looked over to her friend, “i don’t care—” and before she could finish, you yelled out a quick thanks before rushing up the steps.
neither of you missed the, “keep the door open!” from embry’s mother. you laughed it off, meanwhile, embry’s skin darkened with blush as he stuttered out a complaint. to say he was horrified, was an understatement.
embry was up in the clouds. it was you. of course it was you. it has always been you. though embarrassed, he couldn’t help but admire the way you could laugh something off so easily. how you blew the constant teasing off from his mother without question. and then he thought about how you did the same with jake and quil... you accepted it. you played right back.
images of you with his pack floated through his mind like dreams, a soft smile on his face. if you could get along with quil and jake, and take their endless amounts of teasing, then there wasn’t a doubt in his mind about his other friends, his brothers.
embry hadn’t noticed that you had laced your fingers between his, or that you were talking aimlessly to him. it wasn’t until you stopped leading him down the halls of your home did he realize.
you had turned around to look at him fully, head tilted in wonder as you held eye contact with him, “i wasn’t kidding when i said i needed help, embry. but if you have too much on your mind, we can talk it out too, you know?”
his heart fluttered a bit, eyes wide as he stared down at you, “no! no. i can help. i just... i’ve missed you.” and before you could squeeze in a cheeky comment, he continued, “well i mean, i mean we all do! my mom missed you visiting... i did too! and then jacob and quil never stoped pestering me about when you were going to visit again... and... and now your here! for good...”
you giggled as he rambled on, trying to cover up his obvious mistake. rather than watch him stutter over his words, you shook your head and lead him into your bedroom, “okay embry i get it. i missed you too. now, please for the love of god help me with my bed.”
this seemed to shut him up as he gazed into your bedroom, where your bed frame lay across the floor... somewhat put together, and lopsided, “well i mean you’re half way there... i guess?” he noticed the screws and various tools scattered across the floors and smiled fondly, “don’t worry, i’m here the save the day. let’s see what we got.”
and as he began to reconstruct your bed frame, you watched on in admiration. he wasn’t aware of your silent stare as he worked. instead, he was focused on the task at hand... admittedly, also day dreaming. ever since you had opened the door, his brain had turned to mush.
“so em... are you going to tell me why you cut your hair? or how you changed so much since the last time i saw you? you never even mentioned it over the phone!”
the boy looked up at you as you questioned him, hand moving to scratch at the back of his head, “i mean... well.. i just needed a change i guess. long hair is a lot of maintenance and with school being so... busy? i guess i just wanted one less thing to worry about.” his excuse seemed rehearsed, but you payed no mind. if he didn’t want to tell you the truth, you weren’t going to make him. not now anyway.
you nodded, and let out a hum. you thought about a lot of things, such as why he seemed so stressed and up tight. or why he felt the need to lie about his hair. using the excuse of “it’s too hard to keep up with” was bs. at least to you. whenever you came to visit, you had noticed that his hair was a priority to him, just like it was for jake and some of the others on the reservation.
he kept it well, carried around hair bands for when he needed to keep it back, and even had a brush sometimes. he wouldn’t even let anybody except for his mom touch it. why did he think you were going to believe his lie so easily?
the rest of the night went on with ease. it took embry less than fifteen minutes to figure out your bed frame, insisting that he put on the mattress himself.
the rest of the time, embry had watched you unpack. you wouldn’t let him help after he put the bed frame together, so he settled for asking you about life since he last saw you. he danced around your own questions, making up excuses here and there for his appearance or tired complexion.
eventually, you took a seat next to him as you spoke. you smiled as his head fell against your shoulder, “you can rest your eyes em, i won’t mind.” he all but nodded, hair brushing against your cheek as he settled closer. he hadn’t realized how exhausted he was until you told him.
it wasn’t long before embry’s mother had come up the stairs to find embry asleep on your shoulder. she leaned against your door frame as you waved to her, “i’ll wake him up and send him down. it won’t be but two minutes.” at that, she nodded and turned around.
hand coming to rest against the skin above his knee, you ahook his leg gently, “okay emmy. you gotta wake up, your mom is waiting for you downstairs...” he stirred awake, body stretching as he hummed, “i’ll see you tomorrow? maybe?”
he nodded at your inquiry, rubbing his eyes, “yeah, i’ll see you tomorrow... just, just call me when you wake up or something. the boys will want to see you... maybe i can take you to meet some more friends of mine? a bonfire maybe?”
you agreed, and pulled him up for a hug goodbye. his body was hot against yours, another question forming at the top of your tongue. it was like he knew, and before you could mumble it out, he pulled away to ruffle your hair. with a quick ‘see you later’ he all but rushed out the door, leaving you in a comfortable silence.
embry and you only grew closer after that. he couldn’t help but cry a little inside when he saw you interact with his brothers the following night. you all sat around a fire at the beach, where you had laughed and played into friendly banter as you snuggled up into his side.
you stuck your tongue out at quil nd jake whenever they had something to say about you both together.
into the following weeks, you and embry acted as if you were already dating. he never uttered a word about the wolf thing until seth had let a comment slip past his lips, something about how, “us wolves are just like that”
and then embry told you. you had all but laughed in his face when he told you, turning to cry after he shifted. it wasn’t like you were upset, you were just... overwhelmed. he walked you home that night, where he tucked you into bed and kissed your forehead, apologies rushing from his mouth. you refused to let him leave you after that.
you pulled him beside you and buried your head in his chest and basked in the silence of your room. he let you, running his fingers through your hair as he let you think everything out. he was afraid to speak, terrified of losing you.
you were the one to break the silence, peaking up at him, your eyes red from tears, “you owe me so many answers, embry call. too many for you to even count.” embry laughed a little, letting the tears he held back fall down his cheeks, nodding as he pressed a kiss to your forehead.
he did give you answers. all of them. he told you about when and how... and why. he told you that after the cullens left, he stopped shifting so much. he wasn’t as busy anymore, no longer needing to patrol the woods for roaming leeches. after they left, the trouble they brewed followed.
he calmed your worries before you even spoke of them, promising that everything was okay, and that you’d be the first to know if they weren’t. he all but promised to keep you safe.
later, when he asked you on a date, you agreed as fast as ever. you had claimed that you already thought you were together. embry sort of died a little at that, peppering little kisses over your face.
he only told you about imprinting after having an established relationship so you could get used to the wolf thing.
made sure to explain to you that he loved you before it happened.
dating embry was... simple. it was like being his best friend with the exception of intimacy.
he loved cuddling, and always found a way to pull you into his embrace when you weren’t looking.
he was literally glued to your hip. in the kitchen, he hugged you from behind.
on the couch, he preferred to pull you into his lap or against his side, arms wrapped around you.
honestly
this man would use your chest or hips/butt as a pillow, you are not getting away from that.
dating embry also means cooking. a lot. you had practically beg emily for her muffin recipe before she finally caved. she made you swear it to secrecy.
when you first made them, embry had walked into your home and nearly cried in excitement. he was not expecting the sweet smell to greet him when he opened the door.
when you’re sick, you have to shove embry out the door. while it’s nice to know that he’s worried about your well being, he’s extremely annoying. and you love him for it.
he settles for pressing kisses to your forehead when you’re sound asleep.
embry also is the kind of guy to be like, “do yOu nEed heLP?!1?!?1” :/
no sir they does not but thank u for asking
“arE yOu sURe??1??” :// dude if u don’t stop ✋
he means well but sometimes you really have to grab his face and press your forehead to his nd say, “embry. i am more than capable of doing this by myself. i need u to sit down and be quiet or do something else because i am b u s y” instantly makes him check out for a hot second tbh
he knows you’re more than capable and that you don’t need his help, but like???? he’s still?? like he wants to ask and be helpful all of the ti m e
this usually happens when you’re making dinner for him or something
he feels bad cause he feels like you do too much for him
so you usually tell him that he can help clean up HDHSJ
when you told your parents that you guys were dating, they were all like, “oh baby,,, we already knew that” they have been planning your guys’ wedding since u turned 10 and they caught u guys holding hands
maybe u join jake nd quil in teasing embry
you have to make it up with kisses
embry strikes me as a pouty type... not like, the annoying?? pouty??? but a cute pouty. one kiss to his forehead tho and he’s g o n e
anyway,, dating embry is as easy as counting. he’s loveable and sweet and he’s funny and the love of your life.
the person who requested this brought up marriage too but this is already too mfing long u feel
so maybe another day

Wen Qing has been alive the entire time, and Jiang Cheng is the last to find out. What does our disaster boy do? And what does Wen Qing do when he produces the comb again out of nowhere (a la Chenqing in episode 50)?
Jiang Cheng grit his teeth and sighed as he wandered through the crowded streets of Yiling. Since the first siege, the people regarded him with an understandable wariness and unease. He could feel the eyes bearing into the dark violet fabric of his cloak, trying not to watch as a mother huddled her child closer to her side and out of his way. It was easy to forget at sometimes that most outside of Yunmeng and Lanling feared him to some degree. With all the lofty titles and accolades, he had undoubtedly sacrificed some of humanity. The price of becoming the Sandu Sengshou.
Really, he knew he should not be in Yiling.
Jin Ling was too old for Jiang Cheng to follow him on his night hunts, and Wen Ning had proven himself somewhat trustworthy after ensuring Jin Ling returned to Lotus Pier unscathed on multiple occasions. After watching his sisters heart shatter upon the death of her husband, only to hold her in her arms as she drew her last breath, then have to listen Lan Wangji’s cries as his brother threw himself off that cliff edge in Nightless City, Jiang Cheng would say his paranoia was justified.
Jin Ling was his only family left aside from the complicated relationship he now had with Wei Wuxian, denying himself the chance to grieve the man who was once his brother and the woman he once loved as a boy, who sacrificed herself in his name.
Sometimes he thought he saw her, her wide, brown doe eyes under the hood of a travellers cloak, but when he looked back, she would be gone, and his heart would ache anew behind the comb he still kept in his robes all these years. In his thought, his shoulder bumped with someone smaller than him, pushing a soft grunt from him.
“Forgive me, sir. I was not watching where I was going.” The small woman said softly, steadying herself on his arm.
That voice !-
“Are you alright?” He asked gruffly, reaching to help her, only for her to pull away from him pointedly.
“I don’t need your pity, sir.” she said sharply, keeping her head bowed.
It couldn’t be...
He felt stupid to hope, the longing such an alien feeling after so long of denying himself it. Without thinking, he reached for her hood, only for a smaller, slender hand to clamp his wrist in a bruising grip. He grit his teeth and winced. It was too late though, he had nudged the hood just enough that it fell back onto her shoulders, and sure enough, those wide reddish brown eyes were glaring up at him.
“Wen-Guniang...” He said dumbly, eyes wide in shock. “You’re... You’re alive...”
She ripped her hand away from him, shoving him back and pulled her hood back up, pushing through the sea of people and through the main street. He was losing her.
No!
He grit his teeth and gripped Sandu tightly, weaving through the crowd, eyes trained on the smaller, black cloaked hooded figure. He couldn’t lose her, not again.
“HEY!” he shouted, mumbling an awkward apology to the old man he almost ran into. “Hey! Stop running! Come back!”
He followed her into the thick, dead forests that lead toward the Burial Mounds, nearly tripping up over the gnarled, exposed roots as she weaved expertly around them.
“WEN-GUNIANG!” he shouted after her.
He was too old to run after women like this. He should have given up when he’d been blacklisted. He stopped against a tree trunk to catch his breath, wincing in pain. The wounds from Guanyin Temple had never quite healed right, both physically and mentally. He cursed as he tasted the all too familiar tang of blood on his lips.
What was it with the Burial Mounds and making him cough up blood? Every time he came here he always wound up coughing it up in some way or another. He sighed tiredly, catching his breath for a minute before marching on. She can’t have gone much further.
“You’re staggering.” she said steadily, appearing from nowhere and pressing her hand to his abdomen.
“Gah! Gods, woman! You run away from me and then appear out of fucking nowhere?” He jerked back, feeling mildly scandalised to say the least.
“Shut up, there’s blood on your lips. What did you do now?”
“What did I do?! What did you do?! You’ve been dead for 20 years! What is it with Wei Wuxian and his friends and not staying dead?!”
“Believe me, you wouldn’t want to know. Open your robes so I can see the damage.” she deadpanned.
“The fuck?! I’m fine! Don’t try and medically violate me again! I know about my golden core!”
“Yes, A-Ning mentioned that.” She rolled her eyes. “Stop screeching and let me see, I’m not going to sedate you unless I need to.”
“That’s fucking reassuring!”
She shoved his back against the three trunk, gripping the front of his robes and forcing them open, exposing his chest and abdomen. He made a startled sound, feeling his face and neck burn as she studies the stitches and scars on his chest and abdomen, pressing her hand against a particularly fresh wound on his hip.
“A-Ning mentioned the little bastard injured you... Should have healed by now if you rested enough. Knowing you though...”
“The fuck was that supposed to mean?!”
Unbeknown to the pair, the comb that was usually in Jiang Cheng’s pocket had fallen to the ground, lying by their feet as the snapped at each other, Jiang Cheng failing miserably to conceal his mortification that the object of his adolescent affections had shoved him against a tree trunk in a desolate burial mound and began to - medically, Jiang Cheng reminded himself, medically - feel up his bare torso after pulling his damn robes open.
“You and your stupid brother are too thick headed to rest properly after injury or surgery. The idiot got up and started walking around again after I had pulled his golden core out and stitched him up, and he’d been awake the entire time. Yunmeng men, I swear. There is something seriously wrong with your brains.” She huffed, pressing diligent fingers against his abdomen, checking his core. “You need to be careful, if you continue as you are, carrying as much resentment as you, you risk deviation.”
“I... I know...” He mumbled, ashamed. It was difficult to let go and forgive after all these years aching alone. Still so many unanswered questions, new grudges, fresh wounds.
“Jiujiu?”
Jiang Cheng startled and pushed Wen Qing away, pulling his robes shut.
“What the hell are you doing here? It’s too dangerous for you to be here.” He questioned his nephew.
“I’m not a child! You would have died in the second siege if it weren’t for us!” Jin Ling snapped back. Jiang Cheng felt his migraine come back. “What are you doing here anyway? Were you following me again?”
“No!”
“Then why are you in Yiling?”
“Why are you in Yiling?!”
“Answer the question!”
“Don’t talk back to me!”
“Or what?”
“I’ll break your legs!”
“Pah! I’m not scared of you, you’d never actually hurt me!”
“Will everyone just stop shouting? Please?” Pleaded Lan Sizhui, stepping into the forest with Wen Ning, Lan Jingyi and Ouyang Zizhen in tow. “We were in the area and I just wanted to visit my cousins and pick up some medicine from Auntie Qing, okay? Ba got sick again, his core still isn’t strong enough.”
“Hold on... Jin Ling. You knew Wen-guniang was still alive?” Jiang Cheng asked, brow furrowing.
“Uh, yeah. We all do.” He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes, hugging Suihua against his chest. Jiang Cheng felt his heart twinge at how similar he looked to his father.
“All of you?”
“Yeah. Jin Ling was getting so desperate on his wife search for you he insisted to tag along to beg Wen-guniang to be your wife.” Lan Jingyi snorted, earning an elbow in the ribs from Ouyang Zizhen.
“Jin Rulan.”
“Uh oh, he’s using the courtesy name.” Lan Jingyi commented.
“What the hell is he talking about.”
“Nothing!”
“He’s a Lan, Lan’s don’t lie. Tell me. Now.”
“Do you seriously think he abides by their 50,000 rules?”
“4136 actually.” Lan Sizhui added.
“There’s more?” Wen Qing asked.
“Shufu keeps making rules to stay away from Ba.”
“Rules I would happily follow if Lan Qiren didn’t curse my name every time he needs me to heal one of his disciples.”
“Lan Qiren knows?!”

100th Sniper/Spy short - The honeymoon 2
Here it is, the final request! Made by my dear friend, Vana, bless him.
Here we go!
"Ready for your first day in my country?"
"Yeah, show me your home, darl', let's go!"
"Wait, before we go. You know why I took you here?" Lucien asked.
"Yeah." Mundy smiled, his cheeks turning pink. "For… I mean because…" He looked at the ring on his hand. "Our honeymoon."
"Then I need to say it before we proceed."
"Say what?" Mundy asked.
"I love you." Lucien looked up with those ice-drop like eyes at his husband.
"So do I, darl'..."
Their lips met, they needed it like a period to their sentence. Lucien and Mundy exited their hotel and on they went under the bright sun of… Bordeaux!
"Some would argue she is the capital of the South West of France."
"Are you part of those 'some'?"
"Oui, I am. Bordeaux is what Paris would die to be, but never will."
They strolled along the streets.
"Paris and Bordeaux have very similar architecture styles. The difference is the mentality of the people, the rhythm of life and look above your head…"
"The sky?"
"Oui. Blue sky here, while Paris has pollution, rude people and almost more tourists than rats!"
"Sounds like you don't really like yer capital city, eh?" Mundy said with a smile.
"It is cultural. Paris thinks they have the elite and the rest of us are peasants. We know that they are played like fiddles, working like sheep, while we get the good weather and the smile on our faces."
"I see…"
The visit lasted the entire day. Churches, places, squares, parks and of course, vineyards! They did it all. Come the evening, they finished their dinner in a restaurant by the quays of the river, La Garonne, and decided to stroll along the riverbanks.
The buildings along La Garonne were brightly lit with their yellow lights, slicing through the blue of the night. The street lamps were made of intricate wrought iron laces and some shed multicolored lights.
They dragged their feet lazily on the quays, their gaits waving left and right, exchanging their usual banter, the one that made them more than friends.
"Gosh that was one hell of a long day…" Mundy said.
"Are you tired?"
"A bit yeah."
"Let us sit down somewhere. Is this bench over there alright?" Lucien asked.
"Sure."
They stopped and took a seat. In front of them, the river reflected the city lights, deforming them slightly under the current of the stream like an oil painting. It was fairly calm now and the quays had their success in the evening. Passer-bys of all ages, families and couples were enjoying the same warm evening than Lucien and Mundy.
"That's quite a lot of bridges you have over the river." Mundy noticed.
"Indeed and the traffic is always dense on them. The right banks used to be full of factories while the left ones were where the selling of the products would happen. But nowadays it has all changed. The factories became ultra modern apartments and the buildings you see behind us, those made of those beige stones, part of them are a museum and the rest is fancy offices."
"Ah, I see…"
Silence fell and they could now hear someone playing the guitar somewhere behind them. The quays had been converted to a space for all. There were playgrounds, gardens, benches, spaces for picnics…
"Lu'?"
"Oui?"
"D'you think… things happen for a reason?"
"To some extent, oui, I do. Why?"
Mundy took a deep breath. The air smelled of the river passing in front of them mixed with the flowers that laid along the quays.
"I don't know, it's just… I think that's it."
Lucien raised an eyebrow.
"That's it, what?"
"That's it, I'm happy." Mundy answered. "I spent my adult life alone, hunting because that's the only thing I know, and look at me now…? I'm here in France with you and I'm… I'm bloody married now!"
Lucien chuckled.
"Indeed you are, and so am I. But I understand your point. Oui, it seems that the life of running and killing is over, or for you, driving and killing. What I find comical is that it all took me back where it all started, in Bordeaux."
Lucien's eyes went on the river, the lapping sounds of the current, on the surface.
"I love you, Lu'."
"So do I, with all my heart."
"You know, my mind's been a bit stuck on the vows we took." Mundy said.
"Ah, the wedding vows? Strong words, hm?"
"Yeah… Strong words. I thought it was just a movies' thing, y'know, all made up and exaggerated and all… But no. When I said I'd stay with you and only you till the end, I meant it. I meant it in a very serious way, it wasn't jokes or made up."
Lucien smiled and leaned his head on Mundy's shoulder.
"I meant my words too, Mundy. For better and for worse, in health and in sickness." The Frenchman repeated. "Because I know all too well that 'home' isn't a place. It isn't a flat, nor is it a house. Home is when I'm with you, regardless of what is around us. Today we are in Bordeaux watching La Garonne flow, but who knows where we will be tomorrow…?"
"Still in Bordeaux cause the return ticket is for next week?" Mundy answered with a chuckle.
"I guess, oui, but you understood what I meant."
"Yeah, I do." Mundy took Lucien's hand and sandwiched it in both of his. "Gosh I can't think about anything else but you. It's like I've met you and I know I'm in love with you but we didn't meet properly yet and you don't know what I feel for you. You know, those days before you tell someone you love'em, when you're just obsessed, and it's all only in your head, cookin' and boilin' on its own…!"
Lucien smiled.
"Oh I know what you feel and I feel it too. Although in my case, this is quite a first."
"First marriage?" Mundy teased. "You plan on havin' others?"
"Non…!" Lucien laughed on Mundy's shoulder. "That is not what I meant. It is the first time that I sit in front of the river and show her the face of a happy man. I doubt she even recognises me with the grey hair and the tired eyes with lines at the corner."
"I'm sure she does." Mundy answered. "Hard to forget them."
"Forget what?" Lucien asked.
"Your eyes."
The Frenchman felt it in its core, the warmth. He slid his fingers between Mundy's and he felt the ring there. It brought some pink to his cheeks.
"Merci."
[Thank you.]
"Thank you too. You're a good guide, y'know."
"You sound surprised." Lucien said.
"Yeah, nah, I don't know. The more I know you, the more I find things that I like in you."
"Have you found something that you didn't like so far?" Lucien asked.
"Your music taste." Mundy answered.
"What?"
"You have a problem with your music, I swear you must be the only one likin' French stuff from the fifties!"
"Non I am not! It used to be hugely popular and it still is!"
"Popular? Stuff from the fifties? In French? Nah… Only an old frog like you could like that."
"Ah…" Lucien sighed. "The younger generation has no taste whatsoever."
"Oi, I like some good stuff!"
"American pop songs that are broadcast on loop on the radio and dull your senses? The same that have no lyrics, or barely any meaning, no poetry? This is no taste, Mundy, I am sorry."
Mundy chuckled and tilted his head to lean it on Lucien's.
"Funny old man."
"Acceptable young one." Lucien teased.
"Acceptable? Really?"
"Look here." Lucien said and Mundy looked down at him. "Oui, acceptable and only by me."
In the dark of the night, their lips met between their smiling lips and their closed eyes. When they parted, they added to the lapping sounds of the river.
"You will be the end of me." Lucien said.
"Can I be everythin' before that too? I feel like we're skipping quite a lot of things before we got to that point."
"Of course you can, and you are. I love you."
Mundy softened and tightened his grasp on Lucien's hands.
"Love you too, darl'. You're everything."

Part 6
Tumblr media
“Mum?” you sniffed once your mother had answered the video call. It had been five weeks since Keanu’s revelation and he had already been gone again, the filming in New York continuing. He had been devastated, but took your decision not to join him at the Big Apple in stride. You couldn’t even return his sentiments without fearing it would end before it even began.
“What’s wrong, honey?” she asked, concern coloring her words. “Did something happen to the baby?”
Shaking your head, you leaned back in the chair, seeing your mother watch you closely. “N-No.”
"Alright, that’s good, Sweetie," your mother sighed relieved. “Can you tell me what’s going on?”
“H-He wanted me to - ugh.” You rubbed at the tears that were making their way down your cheeks again. Fucking hormones. “He wanted me to c-come to New-w Y-York with him.” Your mother strained to hear you over the hiccups that escaped you while talking to her.
You could see your mother take a deep breath, probably trying to calm herself down. "Who wanted you to go with them? Tommy?"
A groan left your lips, annoyed that she wasn't listening to the things you had told her before. "No! Keanu!" you nearly screamed, frustrated with your mother and with yourself for acting that way. "He was so afraid, mum."
"Honey, please calm down." She spoke so softly, like the day you called her about the baby. "Tell me again what's been going on with the two of you."
"Is dad listening?"
You heard him chuckle in the background, of course he had been tuning into the conversation. "You know how he is, now say what's on your mind."
"You remember when I told you about that guy, my boss?" you asked, feeling your breathing turn back to normal again. "Well, he's kinda acting like he's the actual father of my baby."
"Say what?" came your father's astonished reply and you knew your mum must have been shocked as well. "But he isn't, right?"
"No, daddy. He's not, but Tommy is."
You could hear some squabble on the other end and finally the face of your father came into view once you had accepted and could see your mother behind him glaring at her husband. "Right now, that's better Pumpkin." he smiled. "Now let me get this straight. This Keanu fella isn't the baby daddy but really wished he was."
"I guess so yeah, we haven't talked in like five weeks, because he's filming and hasn't been back in LA since then."
"Huh." your father made a comic sound, rubbing his chin the same way the actor often did. "Would it be so bad?"
Your eyes widened and you sent a quick look to your mother not sure what to say. "I, well I don't know, I guess not. But still." you finally answered, shrugging your shoulders. "What's gotten into you, dad? When I introduced Tommy you've been acting like"
"I already knew he was an asshole." He interrupted you, pointing his finger at you as if he was sitting right there across from you. "Tommy's always been the kind of guy to be careful about, but from what your mum tells me this new guy must be something special, even if he's an actor."
Rolling your eyes, you leaned your elbow on the table top, supporting your head with your hand. Of course your father would talk like that. It wasn't as if he didn't know Keanu Reeves, but if you had to bet, he'd probably not want to think about his daughter dating someone only a few years younger than him.
"Now Pumpkin, let me in on this, too. What's been going on with him and you?"
You were astonished that your mother hadn't already told him the whole story, so you repeated it again, how you had met, that we was your boss and did everything for you and the baby. "And then he said he loved me, that he wants me to come with him to New York." With bated breath you waited for your parents to react, scream, cry, whatever just to do something.
"And how do you feel about it?" your mother questioned, giving you that look she always did when you already had an answer. "Do you love him, too?"
The mood swings were coming in now, making you agitated or tearing up in a matter of seconds. "I don't know." you sighed, tears gathering in your eyes again as you leaned back in the chair, angling your phone so your parents could still see you. "There's so many things to consider. Keanu is a celebrity, he's always in the spotlight even if he doesn't try to be. And I'm pregnant with another guy's baby, working at the motorcycle shop he's the co-founder of and"
"Take a breath sweetie, it's a simple yes or no question." your father interrupted your rant. "Do you love him?"
"Why are you so chill about that?" you sniffled looking at your father, absolutely expecting him to rant about your possible relationship with Keanu.
"You're old enough to make your own decisions. You didn't ask me when you got pregnant, so now answer the damn question."
Putting your hand over your bump protectively, you glared at your father. "Don't curse in front of her, she can hear you." you nearly shouted to make point, but calmed down when you thought about your feelings for Keanu. There was definitely something there but you'd have to explore it, take it easy before you said anything else to hurt him.
"Sweetie, please, yes or no?" your mother asked, hoping to bring your wayward thoughts around.
Rubbing a hand over your belly, you felt your daughter kick, telling you to suck it up. "I guess so, yeah. But"
"No but, Pumpkin, you get up of your ass and tell him how you feel."
"Peter." your mother admonished him, lightly hitting his shoulder. "Just take your time, honey, but you should really talk to Keanu before it's too late."
***
"It's been eight weeks, don't you think you should talk to her?"
Keanu was back for the weekend visiting his mum and his sisters. Kim had agreed to come over to his place and talk, they knew his mother would be okay with his decision as long as he was happy, but he needed his younger sisters opinion on the matter. "She walked away the first time."
"Ke, don't forget she's pregnant and hormonal." she said, watching her brother, a cigarette in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. "She's prone to react that way, Y/N was shocked. After what you told me about her ex, I guess she is careful with her feelings." He puffed out the smoke and turned to the wonderful view in front of him. He kind of missed it while being in New York, and the warmth during the winter. "You kinda put her on the spot you know. The whole thing with Jenny and Ava has made you panic even more now and I think you just want to throw it out in the open before it's too late, try to do it the right way now with Y/N and the baby and hope everything goes smoothly." The actor grunted when he mulled over Kim's words. She was right to an extent, he was afraid of losing you or the baby, that's why he wanted you to know how he felt, no matter the costs.
Maybe he should try to talk it over with you, get to terms with your feelings.
Keanu sighed, knowing no matter what you decided, he'd still be there for you. You and the baby.
God the baby, it would be born soon. If he still got it right there would only be five more weeks to go. Before his confession you had updated him every day, now there wasn't even a sign you were still in the same country, only Gard had told him how you were doing right now.
"I just - I want them safe. I couldn't help Ava and I couldn't even save Jenny." he finally agreed, tears gathering in his eyes. "It's been years a-and sometimes I still question myself if there was something, anything I could have done differently, if I didn't make those movies and the music they would still be here."
Kim knew he was still hurting, never really gotten over the death of his girlfriend and unborn daughter. She gathered him in her arms like the small boy he felt at the moment despite his age, rubbing her hands along his shoulder and back. "There was nothing you could have done, Ke, sometimes it's just - it's fate."
"Fate's a cruel mistress." he mumbled, throwing the burnt out cigarette into the ashtray next to him, the wine glass still in his hand.
Nodding her head, Kim laid a kiss on his dark hair so much her own. They had always been so close, he was there for her when she had been diagnosed with Leukemia, spend every day sitting next to her hospital bed and holding her hand, but she couldn't understand how he would act that way with a woman he barely knew, and still it shouldn't surprise her. Keanu barely knew Jenny and he told everyone she was the love of his life. There was a time when he had that exact look on his face, talking about Jennifer and the baby, that happy and smiling face. Now he had it again, but this time the woman wasn't even his.
This time it was a woman, pregnant with another man's baby and her brother was totally in love with her. Kim just hoped Y/N would be able to wrap her head around it before he drew away from all of them, shutting himself off and only doing his movies. Their mother stood in the doorway to the balcony, listening to each word they had spoken. Patricia knew that he must have taken the young woman by surprise. She herself had been surprised when he talked about Y/N, a woman younger than him by twenty five years, the way he had talked about Jenny at that time, but she instantly knew that there would be more than just friendship in the future. His mother had yet to meet her, to really know who he was so infatuated with to be able to judge the situation. With that thought in mind she went back to Karina, who was standing in the kitchen trying to sort out what they would need for dinner that night.
"What are they talking about?" her youngest daughter questioned, watching both siblings outside on the balcony of Keanus home.
"Y/N, his life in general and how he secretly longs to be the father of her child." their mother said, sitting down at the kitchen isle.
Nodding her head, the producer breathed out a sigh. "Okay, well I secretly long for something, too." she said, earning a raised eyebrow from the older woman. "My big brother doesn't have anything to eat in this house, meaning I need to go shopping for dinner."
"Well then, let's get shopping, I have a quick errand to run, too." Patricia got off the chair while Karina let her two siblings know that they would go get some groceries.
When she came back, the younger woman linked arms with her. "So, what's this errand you need to run?"
***
"Are you sure you should be working?"
Looking up, you saw Gard standing in the office doorway, arms crossed over his chest and eyebrows raised. Sighing you turned back to the bills you had prepared for Laura so she only needed to send them off. "I'm not doing much, Gard, besides it's better than sitting at home."
He sighed, walking over to Laura's empty desk and taking her chair. Pulling it over to your side, the co-founder of ARCH sat down and watched you intensely. "When are you going to talk to him. You've both been walking around like zombies, you here and he up there in New York." he mutters throwing his hands up. "Did you know Keanu's been asking about you and the baby all the time because you don't update him anymore?"
The question caught you of guard. You would have guessed with your display those weeks ago he would have been angry and you had to do all the groveling." I-I didn't know." you admitted, looking at your boss with wide eyes.
"He's done nothing but call or text so he had an update on your condition." Gard said, putting his hand on your arm. "That guy's crazy for you, Y/N."
Groaning, you felt your daughter kick, obviously agreeing with him. Now nearly at the end of your pregnancy you already felt the so called Braxton Hicks, the pain in your lower belly as your body started to get ready for birth. Your midwife told you it was completely normal and that your baby would kick more than before because she didn't have as much space as when she had been smaller.
"You okay?" he asked, putting his hand on your arm comfortingly.
You nodded your head with a slight grimace when you felt a twinge in your back. "Yeah, just the baby playing soccer with my kidney and these mock contractions."
"And you're sure those are just Braxton Hicks?"
Rolling your eyes, you got up from the chair, well tried to get up, with a lot of difficulty before Gard helped you. "I'm sure, my midwife told me the signs, so I know that I still got a few weeks before this one" you pointed down at your large belly. "Is going to make an appearance."
Putting his hands up in mock surrender, your boss grinned at you. "I was just making sure, not that I need to take you to the hospital now."
Shaking your head, you walked out of the office and towards the main entrance, preparing everything for the client that would come in to get his bike tomorrow. When you came to the reception desk you stopped abruptly, causing Gard to nearly topple you as he walked into your back. He looked up to see what was going on when a smile crossed his features while your face was frozen in shock and the only thing flashing through your mind was 'Shit'.
"Patricia, Karina." your boss greeted the two women, signaling to Kelly at the desk to bring some coffee for them. "How have you been? Is Keanu home yet?"
The older woman sent you a quick glance before a soft smile graced her lips. "He is. We're there for dinner at his house which reminds me." She patted his arm and made her way over to you.
You felt your hands grow cold from anxiety and your spine tingle, like you needed to be ready to jump at any opportunity. It wasn't that Patricia Reeves was looking at you like she would murder you, right here in the entrance hall of ARCH, but still you felt nervous, after all you probably broke her only son's heart.
"Do you mind if we go somewhere a bit more - private, I don't want everyone to hear what we talk about." She laid her hand on your back and steered you to the offices, obviously having been there a lot of times. "I'm Patricia, by the way, Keanu's mother."
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you nodded wide eyed at her, not sure if you would be able to utter one sound. You were thankful when you finally reached the office again, sitting down at your desk and getting off of your swollen ankles. As happy as you were with your baby and the pregnancy, you would be even happier to get it over with.
"I think you know what I want to talk about."
"Y-Yes." you stuttered, wringing your hands together. "A-And I'm sorry how it must look like, that you mu-ust think I'm ungrateful."
A quick laugh escaped her and his mother shook her head. "Believe me when I say I know my son better than anyone."
"I know you do, every parent knows their child better than a stranger would."
Patricia eyes you rubbing your belly, knowing you were nervous around her. "Do you? Because then you wouldn't know that my son loves you."
Biting your lip, you avoided her gaze, knowing you'd probably end up crying like a baby, like you did all those weeks ago. "H-He told me."
"That he did, but you didn't answer, Y/N." she said so calmly you were afraid to utter any unnecessary words. "You haven't contacted him, why? I thought you were good friends despite everything."
Cocking your head you bit back the groan as another wave of pain flashed through you. Why did it have to be now, when you were already mentally preparing your funeral once Patricia was done with you. "I didn't think he would -ah- want to talk to me."
His mother watched you carefully, leaning closer and putting her hand on your jean clad knee. "That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. You love him, too, don't you?"
"Please, don't curse, she can hear you." you mumbled and pointed at your bulging stomach, hoping that your baby wouldn't be born and her first word was 'shit'. "And yeah, I-I think so."
With a chuckle and a shake of her head the older woman patted your knee. "Gosh, you young ones are so dumb sometimes. My son is so utterly in love with you, you can't even imagine. He's been so desperate to know about you and the baby that he called Gard every day. The one time I visited him in New York we walked by this shop that sold baby clothes and he stopped. Keanu stared at that little dress in that window, even before Ava died he never behaved like that. He was in love with his baby, but he didn't have that look."
You shifted, trying to find some relief from the constant sting in your lower half. "What look?"
"The look of a proud father to be, so utterly in love again that he’d do anything for them."
You shifted again and Patricia shot you a questioning look. "Are you alright, dear? I didn't mean to frighten you or make you uncomfortable."
"N-No, it's not that." you admitted, putting your hands around your belly. "I've just been having these Braxton Hicks all day, but my midwife said it's normal."
"Oh, that's not Braxton Hicks, darling." she said and you felt your eyes widen in surprise. "Those are contractions, I've had three kids, I know it when I see it."
Another sharp pain went through you, fiercer and longer than the ones before, eliciting a pained moan from you. Leaning forward as good as you could to lessen the ache in your back, you felt a cramp, like the ones you usually get when you're on your period. Patricia got up, coming over to stand next to you.
"Do you feel like you need to bear down, like when you use the toilet?" she asked, calmly rubbing along your shoulders.
Taking a deep breath you looked at Keanu's mother. "At the moment I feel like I really need to pee." you moaned, closing your eyes.
"I think you'll be welcoming that baby today, honey."
Shaking your head, you grabbed her hand. "It's too soon, I still got six weeks." you cried, but instantly felt a wet sensation between your legs. Patricia and you looked down, shocked at what was happening.
"I think I just peed my pants."
***
Kim and Keanu were pulled out of the comfortable silence when the doorbell rang. He turned to his sister with a raised eyebrow. "I thought mum and Kar have a key."
"They do." his younger sister shrugged, not sure what to answer.
Again the shrill tone sounded and the actor got up to investigate. If they couldn't wait that long it must be someone really desperate. When he reached the door he pulled it open, coming face to face with a hard breathing Gard. "Hey man, dinner's not until eight tonight, don't you have some bikes to take care of."
"Keanu, we gotta get to the hospital."
All color drained from his face, not sure how to respond. "W-What happened? Who's"
"It's Y/N." his friend said, clapping him on his shoulder. "She's gone into labor, your mum and Karina are with her, but she's asking for you."
Kim had come over, to see what the commotion was about. She, too, greeted the friend and co-owner, but when she saw the pale face of her brother turn to her, the former actress instantly knew something was wrong. "What's going on?"
"I need to take him to the hospital, Y/N has gone into labor and she's been asking for him." the mechanic explained and Kim rolled her eyes.
She hit her brother's shoulder to get him out of his stupor. "What are you waiting for, she's asking for you and at the hospital. Get your ass into gear." she admonished, grabbing their light coats and pushed the actor out of his house.
He looked at her, fear mirroring in his brown pools. "What if"
Kim interrupted him, holding her hand out as a sign for 'stop'. "Don't even finish that sentence. Y/N is going to be fine and so will be the baby, no matter if it's too soon. The baby is going to live."
Keanu sat on the passenger's seat of Gard's truck, watching the scenery of Los Angeles rush by as they made their way to the hospital. Inside he was praying to every God he knew that both would survive it, that Y/N would be strong enough to handle the birth and that the baby would be living. He knew if something went wrong he wouldn't be able to live on, not for the second time.

Sonsal Celebration Year 2, Day 7
On the seventh day of the Sonsal celebration hosted by @boundforfreedomsonsal we have the prompt of peace. Something I’m sure many of us would have loved to have seen the Freedom Fighters get to enjoy when their respective series came to an end. Sadly the screw-ups of Archie Comics, Ken Penders well being Ken Penders, and a little of Sega’s own mishandling caused us to never truly see Sonic, Sally and Co. have their day of peace canonically. Luckily we fans can fix that.
PEACE:
“...It brings me great pleasure to formally announce the end of the war started by Julian Kintobar, aka Dr. Robotnik, and perpetuated by his counterpart Dr. Eggman. Any and all allies of the two Empires created by these evil men have also been dealt with, leaving no one seeking to resume their mantle. Not only has this long, and difficult conflict finally over-.” Pausing in her speech, Sally took a lungful of air, but her smile never waned, as she also purposefully dragged out the pause to reign in the audience more. “All the nations of Mobius, be they any species of Mobians, or Humans have signed a hopefully lasting peace accord to not only end any potential future conflict but bring all the peoples’ of Mobius together as they never have before.” Despite prepping herself to keep her emotions in check, Sally found her eyes moisten but she kept a straight face, save for the smile widely forming as she couldn’t hide her joy. “We don’t have to live in fear anymore, and our world is truly free from tyranny. Everyone gathered here or not, thank you for your contributions. Now… LET’S CELEBRATE WE ALL EARNED IT!!”
At Sally’s last words, the crowds gathered before the stage in front of Castle Acorn hollered and cheered. After ten-plus years of living in fear of an evil scientist and his armies; the planet Mobius was free at last. Watching her people be happy made Sally’s heart glow with a warmth she didn’t know she needed. Bowing her head she turns from the podium and walks over to where her friends waited for her; especially a certain Hedgehog with a matching wedding band on his finger just like hers. As she wiped her eyes Sonic took a few steps to meet the distance, instantly his arms were around her for a hug and their lips met for a quick, but sweet and loving kiss.
Once it broke, her dear childhood friend, lover, and husband all rolled-into-one flashed one of his well-known grins. “Way past speech Sal.” “I started to nearly cry at the end.” She giggled, rubbing her eyes some more. “You’d think after all my practice I could have nailed it better.”
A familiar hand rested on Sally’s shoulder, with a soft southern drawl reaching her ears. “Aw heck Sally-girl, so you started to mist a little. Nobody will blame ya’ I mean fer’ Pete’s sake you did just announce the end to a nearly thirteen-year war we’ve been fighting since we were kids.”
Bunnie’s husband, Antoine moving to stand beside his wife, and as always holding her hand, gave a nod with his own smile. “Oui, as my dear beloved put it, no one would be zee upset at you being over the joy with the war’s end.”
Moving over a young two-tailed fox wrapped his arms around Sally’s waist, giving a squeeze before looking up so his gaze could meet Sally’s. A smirk mirroring Sonic’s adorning his face. “I think what we’re getting at Sally is, you did great, so don’t think you messed up the speech for getting misty-eyed.”
With a loud, merry chuckle Rotor merely crossed his arms as he walked closer himself, the old gang gathering once again. “I think I’m going to have to stand by the others in saying you did great Sally. Personally, even after my stint as a council member, I’d have choked up half-way through that.”
Unable to help herself, Sally giggled, enjoying the banter as she looked at her husband and friends with a playful smirk. “What is this, pick on Sally after her speech day?”
As if on cue, Nicole materialized from a nearby emitter, and reached over to pet Sally’s head. “Maaaaybe, we all just love you and wish you still are too hard on yourself. Your speech was lovely, to the point, but also if I may add, the start of the tears I think helped the audience accept this was ‘finally’ over.”
Looking at the faces of her dearest friends, Sally internally acknowledged they were right, and simply held her arms out. “Freedom Fighters… one last group hug? As a team?”
Without a word, the band of friends all formed a group hug with Sally at the center. A multitude of emotions coursing through each of them as their bond as friends and Freedom Fighters held them together and steered the course of their lives as much as the war that forced them to grow up so fast. One by one, not an eye was dry as happy tears began to leak from everyone and their mutual holding of one another tightened but never enough to cut off oxygen.
“D-do you think now that the fighting’s over we won’t see each other much anymore?” Murmured Tails in a soft voice as the thought crossed his mind. It was one that briefly flared when they first thought they won after Robotniks’ defeat. Of course, now things were so different than it was back then. He had his parents whom he was still making up for lost time with. Rotor still had family in the Tundra waiting for him. Sonic, Sally, Bunnie, and Antoine were married and could now start their own lives. Nicole was probably gonna be busy since she now had a bio-nanite living body and could have her own life beyond the administrator of the city and the nanite colony.
Reaching over, Sonic ruffled the head-fur of the fox he deemed his little brother affectionately. “Heck to the no there li’ bro. We all might do our own things for a bit but we ain’t gonna just treat the other like strangers.” Eye twinkling he eased from the group hug to wrap his arms around Tails and give him an affectionate noggie. “Plus don’t forget you’re big brother to Manik and Sonia. That means you’ll see us plenty since Sal and I are also on tap babysitters from time to time like you are.”
This seemed to assure the fox while smiled and wiped his eyes, his expression much cheerier now. “Heh, good point, us big brothers gotta help teach the li’ sibs right?”
“That’s the spirit!”
Giggling, Bunnie smiled at the scene of brotherly love and looked over to Antoine, a crafty, yet loving gaze sent his way. “Now that we know no boogie-man is gonna pop outta th’ ground. I’m all for enacting our plans for extended second-honeymoon Sugah-Twan.”
At the mention of this idea, the coyotes’ eyes twinkled as he held up his wife’s hand and kissed her knuckles. “Oui, oui  my love, I am how do you say..? ‘All-in’ on this idea.”
The rabbit’s own eyes sparkle with love and plans, lots of future plans. “Maybe we could start planning for our own li’ brood?” When her husband’s only response was to blush but nod his head vigorously, Bunnie laughed and leaned in to kiss him. “I love you, ya’ you big sweetie!”
“Going for kids already?” Inquired Rotor with a raised eyebrow, and a smile.
“We’ve been discussing it a lot, and frankly being a Mom is something I wanna be, so why not?” Bunnie giggles, her cheeks flushed as she rubbed her belly longingly. “I got all mah parts flesh again, and we don’t gotta fight, so dreams and rest of our lives here I come!”
“Speaking of extended honeymoon’s…” Sally walks over and hugs Sonic from behind. “That sounds like a wonderful idea.”
Nodding, Sonic rested his hands over hers around his waist. “Yeah, we didn’t exactly get to have one. Just a long weekend to ourselves.” Rubbing his chin, Sonic began to ponder on where they could go. With the planet free now, sans any areas in need of rebuilding the sky was the limit.
Then a thought hit him, with a grin he urges Sally to follow him. The two make their way over to another group of friends who were like they had been, celebrating. “Yo Knux’!”
Hearing his nickname, Knuckles the Echidna looked away from the discussion he was having with Vector and Julie-Su. Spying the Hedgehog and Squirrel-munk coming his way. “What’s up Sonic?”
“Can Sal and I borrow your island for our proper honeymoon?”
“Excuse me?” His spines bristled mostly on reflex to anyone mentioning doing, well anything with his island.
Knowing how easy it was for Sonic to antagonize Knuckles without trying, Sally interjected. “What he means Knuckles, is could we visit Angel Island and just… have our honeymoon there? We’d stay out of the way, we’ve just never, been there without some crisis going on. All the different biomes and vistas just scream to be explored and enjoyed.”
“Plus given it flies over the planet the views off the edge are gorgeous.” Quipped Sonic, who now clapped his hands together and bowed his head humbly. “C’mon Knux it’s the perfect place for newlyweds to get lost and have a good time.”
Covering her mouth, Julie-Su snickered. “Oh, you bet it is.”
Picking up on this, Sally smirked widely. “Oh? Maybe you can give us some tips?”
Running with the topic, Julie kept on still smirking widely if her cheeks were now a bit pinker. “Well, not per se Knuckles and I’s make out spots but I can recommend some. Although one mutual spot I must, ‘must’ recommend is this tiny waterfall that has a small spot where an overhanging rock creates this gap big enough for two people to stand inside without being constantly pelted with water. Hmmm..” Her cheeks brightened and her body fidgeted with the memory. “Nothing like standing under the falls with your man behind you, wailing-.” Putting a hand over his ears, Vector turned away, loudly and in a very grumble-y voice chanted. “La-la-la-la I can’t hear youuuu!”
“Walkers alive Julie!” Knuckles exclaimed his muzzle beat red as he gently grasped his girlfriend by the arm. “I don’t think anyone needs to know those details!”
Both Sally and Sonic snicker, and yet also mentally filed away this idea and would get the exact location from Julie later. Refocusing, Sonic reached over to pat Knuckles on the shoulder. “So joking aside, whaddya say Knux? It’s your call but it’d be a way-past cool favor. You know we won’t disturb anything nor go where we shouldn’t.”
“Please? We’ll owe you and Julie.” Sally added, trying to sweeten the deal with the cute-eyes routine and a pouty lip.
After just staring at the two with his usual impassive expression, Knuckles let out a long sigh but then smiled. “What the heck, sure. Consider it a done favor anyway since you guys helped bail me and the island out a number of times-OW!” At a sudden pinch, he looked at Julie. “What was that for?”
“They were gonna owe us a solid and you dismissed it? Knuckles, honey, my one and only…” She cups his face, and pinches his cheeks. “You always accept being owed a favor back! Think about the possibilities!”
“Ow, ow, ow sorry!”
Laughing, Sonic waved a hand. “Consider the favor still on, and thanks a million!” He insisted, figuring he should offer if to help Knuckles out of his situation with Julie in thanks for letting them stay on Angel Island.
“You won’t even know we’re there! Promise!” Sally quipped, giving both Echidnas a hug. “Thank you so much!”
Rubbing his nose, Sonic couldn’t help but smile as he looked around at his friends and the gathered crowds all celebrating. It took a long time, and probably more sacrifices than he would have liked, but finally, they had peace.
He closed his eyes, saying a silent prayer to the fallen, those he knew and those he didn’t. He wasn’t a religious sort but the departed were owed respect. He hoped they could rest easier now, just as those still alive could now truly live their lives to the fullest.

The love of my life pt 2
Tumblr media
Vernon x Reader
Genre: Old love, Sad AU
Summary: And in that moment your eyes met, you knew you haven´t forgotten him, he took you back to the start with a simple glance.
Part 1
———————————————————————————————————
“Do you have everything ready?”
“Ready!” The little girl exclaimed happily
“Wow but look who is the most beautiful baby girl on Earth” You said to your beautiful daughter
“Daddy bought this dress to me yesterday” She said showing turning around for you to see it
“And is gorgeous” You replied kissing her forehead “Daddy has the best taste on clothes” You said looking at your husband who had just entered the room
“And on women too” he said kissing your lips “Everything ready?”
“Everything ready” you smiled at him “It’s been years since i’ve been home”
“Aren’t you excited?”  He hugged you “I can’t wait to arrive to my own hometown too”
“I’m glad Chicago isn’t that far away, i wouldn’t stand another long flight so soon”
“Me neither each hour on a plane means less hours to…”
“Johnny!” You said placing a hand over his mouth, knowing what he was going to say
“Less hours to arrive my home sweet home! you  are so dirty minded”
You sighed  and he held your daughter on arms
“Your mom is really dirty minded”
“Johnny don’t tell her those things!”
“She doesn’t understand shh” He said softly placing a kiss on your lips
Johnny was a wonderful man, you were so happy you had formed a family with him, he had a good job, was a good husband and a good father, you had no complains about him, your family adored him as well.
You couldn’t believe the first time you were going to be back was going to be married and with a daughter, you had the opportunity to go back since your parents flew at least once a year, but you were busy with college.
“A lot of years had passed by” you thought,  it was really probable that most of the people you were close to were in the same situation as you, with families and stuff. You hoped you would see them, at least some of them.
-You are home!-Your parents greeted you and your family when you arrived, they had move back a couple of years after you finished your career, but you decided to stay since you were already with Johnny, it wasn’t such a big deal since they flew often for business, but it was the first time you were visiting them.
Your home was exactly as you remembered, just a few changes but it was almost the same. You went upstairs to leave your bags on your room. When you opened your room so many memories came to you, as the house your room was exactly the same too, your bed, your dressing table, even your box of toys was still there, you smiled and walked to your window.
And then it hit you.
“Hansol”  You thought, you grabbed your necklace with the ring he gave you hanging in it, wow, it’s not like you forgot about him, (well it was actually impossible keeping that ring with you) but as you said It’s been years since you’ve been home, and certainly Hansol was someone you also left behind. The las time you saw him came back to your mind, you sighed… maybe you two could have work it out, maybe.
“Knock knock” Your mom appeared in your door
“Mom” You smiled “You didn’t change anything”
“Why would I?” She smiled back “Mila can sleep here”
“I was actually hoping to sleep here” you joked
“I don’t really think Johnny fits” Your mom laughed
“Yeah, he’s way to big” You laughed too
“Oh yeah, before i forget” Your mom said “I saw Chiara a few days ago”
“Chiara? really?, Is she still leaving next door?”
“No, not anymore, but it’s a small town you know”
“Yeah, i remembered texting with her a few times when i left but eventually we lost communication
“Yeah she told me the same, but I told her you were coming”
“And what did she said?”
“She said that she was really glad about it since they were doing a reunion party with the guys from your class”
“Wow, that’s nice, i was really hoping to see them” You said smiling
“She gave me her number and told me to call her as soon as you arrive”
———————————————————————————————————
“Hello?” You heard the voice of who was some time ago your best friend
“Chiara?” You asked kinda shy
“Yes? who i am talking to?”
You laughed
“Yeah it’s been a long time, it’s normal you don’t recognize the voice of your best friend”
“(y/n)?” She asked excited
“Yes!” You replied the same way
“Oh my God you are here! I can’t believe it!”
“Ikr, it’s been years”
“Yes! Omg I’m happy you already arrived, I thought you wouldn’t make it”
“To what?”
“To the reunion party!”
“Oh yeah, my mom told me about it”
“It’s tonight!”
“Really? Wow i was looking forward to see all of you, but that was fast”
“Well…soon better right?”
“Totally!”
“I’m texting you the address then, can’t wait to see you!”
“Me too!”
You smiled when you finished the call, you were going to go downstairs, but Johnny entered the room
“Who were you talking with?” He asked smiling
“An old friend of mine, Chiara”
“Thats nice, are you hanging up with her?”
“Actually, theres a reunion party tonight”
“Really? Are you going?”
“Totally, it’s been years since i’ve seen them. Why don’t you come with me?”
“Mmm” He pouted “Isn’t it a class reunion?, probably i’ll bother you with your friends”
“You would never bother me” You said hugging him
“Well, i never turn down a party” He smiled kissing you
———————————————————————————————————
You arrived to the nice rooftop where the party was being held, you recognized a few faces from school who greeted you with smiles, hugs and common questions.
“(y/n)!” You heard a familiar voice
“Chiara!” You said excited turning to see your long time best friend
You both hugged tightly almost containing to scream from excitement
“Oh my God, I can’t believe you are here, you are wow, let me have a look at you”
She said separating a bit from you
“Stunning, you got prettier, how is that even possible?”
You smiled shyly
“You are beautiful too, as always”
She smiled back
“And who is the lucky gentleman?” She asked giving a glance at Johny who you were holding hands with
“This is my husband Johnny’ You smiled looking at him proudly
“Handsome husband” he joked “Just kidding, nice to meet you…Chiara?”
She nodded
“Well…(y/n) there’s someone you might like to see”
“Really? I think i’ve already seen everyone” You said kinda nervous, you knew who she was talking about
“Come with me” She said holding your hand
Johnny laughed by the way Chiara was pulling you and eventually the way you were pulling him
As Chiara was walking you through the rooftop your heart was beating fast, you felt as if it was going to come out of your chest in any moment, “Come on, it’s been years, you are already married, don’t be silly” you tried to calm down yourself when she stopped behind a small group of people.
“Hansol” Chiara said patting his back with her fingers
“Ye-” But he didn’t finished his phrase he just looked at you straight into your eyes, and in that moment your eyes met, you knew you haven´t forgotten him, he took you back to the start with a simple glance.
Hansol listening to loud music in his roof with his messy hair and melancholic look the day you met, The afternoons in his room watching the sunset and now you listening to loud music with him, Hansol asking you out and later showing up to your first date with a star wars shirt because it was his favorite, his failed attempt to cook in your second date, your first kiss, your first time, the pillow talks, the fights, the plans, and the goodbye.
Everything.
Everything passed through your mind like a movie
And the same happened to him, just by looking into each others eyes, nothing had changed, you still had that unreal connection.
“(y/n) is here” Chiara said still looking at him
You both blinked twice like coming out of a trance
“He-hey” He half smiled, he was even more handsome than what you’ve remembered, he looked more mature, his dark hair shorter  and the same spark in his eyes
“Hey” You smiled the same way, nervously
“Hansol, this is Johnny (y/n) husband” Said Chiara trying to make some conversation
“Your, your husband?” He said with surprise in his voice, you nodded
“Yes” You muttered as Johnny stretched his hand to him
“Johnny this is my husband Hansol” Chiara said finally
Your eyes widened as plates
“Your, your husband?” You asked the same way Hansol did
Chiara smiled kinda nervous
“Long story” She giggled
You nodded still shook, of all people in the world, you wouldn’t expect Chiara would end up marrying him, they barely talked when you two were together
“We studied together in college, that brought as together” She said simply, you tried to understood her, you were gone for good, a lot of years had passed and there was no way she thought you were still in love with him, because you weren’t, right?
You nodded again without saying a word
“Well this is way weirder than it should be” Chiara said
“What? no, no it’s isn’t” You said smiling “It’s just, It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other” You looked at Hansol who had the same melancholic glance he had the day you met him “I guess, it just brought us memories”
Hansol nodded
“Yeah, it’s kinda surprising seeing you after all this years” He said
“Yeah, it’s just that” You said taking deep breath “Uhm, there’s some people i haven’t see yet, i’ll be around” You finished grabbing Johnny’s arm
“Yeah, it’s fine, maybe we can go out and have a cafe or something” Chiara said
You nodded
“Call me” You smiled
You walked away holding Johnny’s hand without saying a word
“Is there something i need to know?” He asked calmly
“What? no! what about?”
“Ahh such a bad liar” Johnny sighed “There was a magnetic camp between that girls husband and you, and for the way you’ve just answered i can tell theres something happening”
“Not a big deal, he’s just… my ex” You said trying to sound calm
“Ok…There’s nothing wrong with that, i’ve had girlfriends before you too” He laughed
“I told you it wasn’t a big deal” You smiled
“I’m your husband now” He smiled back kissing your forehead
“Yeah i know” You giggled
“Yeah you know” He said.
———————————————————————————————————
The party was almost over, you and Johnny decided it was time to go home and you were saying goodbye to your friends. Eventually the time to say goodbye to Chiara and Hansol had come.
“We are leaving” You said smiling
“I hope we see each other soon” Chiara smiled “I’m being serious about that cafe”
“Just call me” You said
“Are you staying at your moms?” She asked
“Yes” you said, you noticed how Hansol frowned, you knew that expression, something had crossed his mind
“The same house?” He asked with a low voice
“Yes” you smiled at him
“I’ll go around then, i miss the neighborhood” Chiara said
“I’ll be there”
“Well i don’t quit you guys more time, bye ” she said while placing a kiss on your cheek
“Bye” you said the same way, giving a quick kiss to her and just waving to Hansol
You walked away with Johnny and entered to your parents car
“I never thought I was going to say this a party, but off  i’m glad it’s over” Johnny said trying to smile
“It was that bad?” You asked
“Well it wasn’t really comfortable” He said
“I’m sorry”  You said reaching his hand
“Don’t worry, maybe you were just shook you ex best friend married your es boyfriend” He said kissing your hand, but more like trying to convince himself
You kissed his hand back and again didn’t say a word.
———————————————————————————————————
You looked at your clock next to you, 02:17 am and you couldn’t sleep, Johnny was completely asleep, between the both  you was your baby girl, who had stepped into your room a couple of hours before because of nightmares.
You stood up trying not to wake them up, and went downstairs, maybe drinking a tea or something would help.
You reached your kitchen and grabbed a cup, about to pour water into it something caught your eye, through the window that was right in front of you, you saw a car and a man you didn’t take long to recognize, he was standing there, smoking alone looking at the stars. You didn’t even think about it, you were already outside your house.
“Hansol Vernon Chwe, smoking outside my house, looking at the stars” you sighed “Such a vision”
He giggled
“I can’t believe you actually came out” he shook his head
“What?” You asked
“I parked here saying to myself I was delusional for thinking you would come out when you didn’t even know i was here”
“Guess we haven’t lose our connection” You said glancing at him
“After al this years” he nodded
“I know right, sounds silly”
“What?”
“Nothing” you shook your head
You kept silence for a few minutes, standing there, just enjoying each others company
“Do you still have it?” He asked suddenly
“What?” You asked
“The ring” He said looking at you, deeply, just the way only him could
You took your necklace from inside your shirt and showed him the ring hanging from it
“I can’t believe it” He said melancholically, he then showed you his left ring finger, with the ring on it
“Unbelievable” You said “I will never forget that day” you sighed
“Neither will I, it was the riskiest love demonstration i’ve ever done in my life” he laughed
“Yeah, the way you jumped and run through the security filters were worth a movie scene”
“I think someone actually recorded me and uploaded to youtube” He laughed again
“Really? you laughed with him
“We went through a lot together, right?” He said when he stopped laughing
“Yes” You said looking at the ground “I can barely remember a day from my teenage years without you
“It was actually kinda toxic you know?, we couldn’t be separate from each other” he pointed out
“Well it wasn’t necessarily my fault”
“Was it my fault?” he asked jokingly
“Who else then?” You replied jokingly too
He laughed too, but then, when he stopped laughing, he grabbed your hand with certain fear, you got goosebumps just by feeling his skin touching yours
“Did you ever think, we could have possible work it out? if we talked about it properly”  He said without taking his eyes aways from you
“No” You said looking at the ground for then looking straight into his eyes “Not, until i saw you again today”
He kept silence
“How did… you and Chiara?” You asked without knowing how to formulate a right question
“It was curious actually” He said with a half smile “I ‘met’ her the same way i did with you, she heard the loud music”
You half smile feeling a press in your chest
“Really?” You asked
“She came by, and we started hanging out, but she became a close friend first, we started dating like a couple of years later in college
“She’s a nice girl” You said looking at the ground
“And you?”
“Me?”
“How did you and your husband met?”
“We met at a university party, and we started dating”
“He seems nice”
“He is, i couldn’t have ask for a better dad to my daughter” you said smiling
his eyes widened softly
“You have a daughter?”
“Yes, she is three years old, her name is Mila”
“That’s a sweet name” He smiled back “I have a son”
“Really?”
“Yes, he’s just a year old, his name is Simon”
“Like your dad” you smiled
You looked to the stars, they were beautiful that night
“I guess we are happy the way we are now” You said
“We wouldn’t change a thing” He said
You nodded
“I should get in, it’s late”
He nodded
“Goodbye Hansol” You said approaching to him, you then pressed a soft kiss in his cheek rubbing gently the other one with the palm of your hand
You took a step back and walked through your door
“You are always going to be the love of my life” You heard him say before you entered
You turn your head back
“And you are always going to be mine” You smiled and finally entered to your house
You went downstairs and saw your daughter and husband still sleeping.
Life was at it should be and you wouldn’t change a thing.

La Vie En Klosé
Nicky Hemmick huffed as he walked out of the gate at Berlin-Tegel after a rough Christmas at home. He was just ready to get back to his host family. The Stuttgart airport was never this crowded, so he tried his best to look confident and totally not lost as shit, and finally, with the help of the signs and his growing understanding of the German language, he made it out past the passport checks. Peering out over the crowd, Nicky saw a few people waiting around with signs and advertisements for taxis and rent-a-car services, but couldn’t spot either one of his host parents yet.
“Nicky!” he heard someone call. Nicky stood up on his tiptoes and saw who had to have been Erik Klosé standing by a shitty looking Burger King with a bouquet in his hand.
…And promptly tripped over a little girl’s bright pink suitcase.
As soon as he hit the ground, Erik was offering him a hand.
Nicky suddenly realized that he was staring. He’d seen pictures of Erik around the Klosé home, but wow. “Erik?”
“Hello, Nicky. These are for you.”
“Beautiful. I mean. They’re beautiful. The flowers,” Nicky stammered, taking the flowers and hugging them to his chest as Erik helped him up.
Erik grinned.“You’re telling me.”
-
Nicky and Erik shuffled their feet along the winding stone path ahead of them. The quiet there was almost unsettling–It felt like the only things in existence were the hundreds of lilies in the gardens around them, the two of them, and one word hanging in the air between them.
“So your parents aren’t okay with it?”
“No. In their eyes, I’m an abomination. They’re stuck perceiving the Bible the way they want to,” Nicky shrugged, stuffing his hands in his pockets in an effort to keep himself as small and contained as he felt.
“They don’t deserve to claim the title of ‘Christian.’ You do know that, right?” Erik said, stopping mid-step and turning to Nicky.
“I know. That doesn’t make it hurt any less.”
“I didn’t say that it should.” Erik placed a finger under Nicky’s chin and directed his gaze upward so they could make eye contact. “But hiding hurts even more, doesn’t it?”
Nicky swallowed hard and nodded wordlessly, reaching up to wrap his hand around Erik’s wrist. Before he could force the words he wanted to say out of his chest, Erik spoke up.
“Me too.”
“You’re— “
When Erik kissed him, those petal-soft lips made Nicky bloom as excitedly as lilies around him, and for the first time in a long time, Nicky felt the sun again.
-
“Erik?”
“That’s your concerned voice,” Erik said, marking his place in his book and setting it down on the nightstand next to their bed. “What’s wrong, Love?”
“I never talked about him much, but…My cousin Aaron’s mother just died in a car accident. His…You know the long-lost twin thing. Andrew was with her. He survived.”
“Oh, Baby,” Erik whispered, motioning for Nicky to join him in bed. After his boyfriend crawled in next to him, Erik wrapped his arms around Nicky and kissed his forehead. “I’m so sorry.”
“They don’t have a mother anymore,” Nicky started, then paused. “They’re not old enough to be independent yet, either. That means that they’d go to—“
“Luther and Maria.” Erik knew what that meant, as much he didn’t want to acknowledge it. “You want to go take care of them, don’t you?”
“I don’t want to leave you,” Nicky sniffled, but then his voice broke. “I—”
“You know I will respect whatever decision you make. I will be beside you the entire way, if you’ll have me, Nicky. If you want to go, that is what you’ll do. I want to make this work, and if you do, too—”
“That isn’t fair to you, Erik,” Nicky shook his head.
“Nothing is ever fair. Not wholly. I love you, and I love your heart. I trust it. Right now, it belongs somewhere else. And as long as it can share,” Erik smiled. “I don’t mind. We’ll still make time for one another. We can visit on holidays. You should go. They need you. I can wait. I will.”
“I don’t deserve you.”
“Says the man who is uprooting his entire life to take care of family he hardly knows. No one deserves someone as selfless and bright as you.” Erik reached over Nicky and plucked a long stem of forget-me-nots from the arrangement beside their bed. He tucked the flowers behind Nicky’s ear and kissed the end of his nose. “You won’t be able to get rid of me that easily.”
-
“Erik?”
“Any updates?”
“They found him. He’s alive. He…Well, he looks fucked, to be honest. But he’s alive, and he’s dating Andrew.”
“Holy shit.”
“I think Aaron almost had a grand mal seizure,” Nicky shook his head. “I think I actually did. Anyway. They’re with the feds working through everything. They want him to go into witness protection, but God knows we aren’t letting him go anywhere. And Andrew? I think he’d kill the next person that even looked at Neil for too long.”
“So it isn’t just physical? Andrew actually has feelings for someone?”
“Feelings might be an understatement,” Nicky teased. “He choked out Kevin over the fact that Neil was nowhere to be found.”
“That will make my next visit all the more entertaining, won’t it?”
“Speaking of, you’re still coming to the championship, right?”
“I got approved for time off and already booked the flight. I can’t wait to see you again.”
“I love you,” Nicky sighed dreamily. He could almost see Erik smiling in the stands, now. “Today just—The way Neil looked at Andrew today, it was…The same way you look at me. It was like the day you first kissed me, when you saw me for the first time. It’s…I miss you, and—Today just made me realize how quickly things can change”
“I miss you too, Nicky. I love you so much.”
“I know. I love you, Erik. Be good. Don’t get into trouble.”
Unbeknownst to Nicky, Erik popped open the small box that held Nicky’s engagement ring in his hand and closed it again. It almost made him laugh to know that Nicky would hear the click when it shut but would have no idea what it was. “I’m always good.”
“One: Bullshit. Two: Bye, Honey. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“Bye, Love. Be safe.”
-
“Nicholas Esteban Hemmick, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?” Renee asked, closing the Bible in her hands with a soft look in her eyes.
“I do.”
“Do you have a ring for the groom?”
Neil smiled and pulled the simple platinum band out of his pocket before handing it to Nicky. Go get ‘em, he mouthed.
“Please repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed.”
“With this ring…” Nicky slid the ring onto Erik’s finger, a single happy tear running down his cheek. “I thee wed.”
“Now for the part you’ve been waiting for. By the power invested in me by the state of South Carolina, I now pronounce you to be married. Erik, you may kiss your husband.”
Only Matt and Dan’s catcalls managed to pull the two of them apart.
“You’re insatiable,” Nicky laughed breathlessly, wrapping his arms around Erik’s neck and pressing their noses together.
“What can I say? Mr. Klosé looks good on you.”
Before Nicky could speak, Erik pulled him in again.
-
“He’s smaller than I thought he would be.”
“Wyatt is just a baby, Love,” Erik chuckled, leaning over to rest his chin on his husband’s shoulder. “They’re small.”
“He was just born so early. He’s too small.” Nicky pressed his hand to the glass wall of the incubator in which their son was placed with a sigh.
“I think he takes after Andrew,” Neil smirked (despite the look Andrew gave him). “Really though, Nicky. He’s perfect. I know he’ll be alright before you take him home to Germany.”
Andrew crossed his arms and shifted his weight to one foot. “Katelyn said we—You have nothing to worry about. He’s finally eating well and he’s been gaining weight for the past week.”
“Speaking of babies, we have to go feed ours. Sir is a menace when she’s hungry,” Neil mumbled, whispering something else and receiving a nod before taking his husband’s hand.
“When we were out late for Wyatt’s birth, she tried to escape in retaliation,” Andrew nodded.
“Thank you for stopping by, you two.” Erik gently squeezed Neil’s shoulder. “We’ll see you tomorrow.”
Once Neil and Andrew said their goodbyes, Nicky pursed his lips and looked up at Erik. “Do you think we’re ready for this?”
“I know that we are,” Erik nodded, wrapping his arms around Nicky’s waist from behind and kissing his cheek.
“How can you be so sure?”
“Nicky, you’ve already been a parent. You were there for Andrew and Aaron when they had no one else. Because of you, they went to college. Because of you, they grew together instead of uprooting the support system you gave them. Because of you, they have a family outside of blood. You gave them all the love they never had. I have seen you love and care for people for so many years, Nicky. You are going to be an amazing father,” Erik whispered. “After everything you’ve been through and everything we’ve been through together, I think we can handle just about anything.”

A day at Disneyland; Chris Hemsworth x reader
*Author’s note*
Tumblr media
Hello and good afternoon everybody! So this is a request that I have had done for the past couple of days but I’ve been on a deadline with another request that I’m trying to get done before their bday tomorrow (I’m about half way done with it) but this one is probably my first ever Hemsworth story I had ever done (So I’ve done half of the Chris quartet). Now my knowledge of Disneyland is minimal to none cause I’ve never been to Cally so the only Disney experience I’ve had is Disneyworld down in Florida, but I hope I still did some justice for this fic.
No warnings except PURE, UNADULTERATED, TEETH-ROTTING G RATED FLUFF!!!

_______________________________________________________
I was packing up the car getting ready to prepare for the 2 and a half hour drive to downtown LA so that the kids and I could go to Disneyland.  My name is (y/n) (l/n) and I’ve been a single mom for three years.  My ex-husband and I were having some problems, constantly fighting until finally one stupid mistake on his part landed him in the LA prison.
Furious and disappointed, I filed for divorce because I didn’t want his bad influence to affect our children and it was hard on us, especially my eldest son Dean.  He and his daddy were close ever since he was born, but when I was forced to tell him that his daddy wasn’t ever gonna get out of prison, it was hard for him to cope.
It was tough raising not only 2 growing boys but a newborn baby girl at the same time.  My little girl, Leia will never get to know her father because of his stupidity and I don’t want to expose her to him. At first I thought I’d never get to have the father figure my kids needed because it was just me and my sister and my mom who was helping me raise my kids, my dad sadly passed away due to a stroke shortly after my second son Henry was born.
That was until by sheer luck of fate as I was coming home from the store when I accidentally dropped all my well-paid food, that a handsome blonde stranger came into my life.
I had no idea at the time who he was until Dean (whose obsessed with all things superheroes both Marvel and DC) that when we saw the second Avengers movie Age of Ultron, it was shocked to see that it was him.  Chris Hemsworth.
We kept in contact and whenever he wasn’t too busy, he’d come over for a visit and we’d have a couple of dinners.  Soon couple dinners turned into months’ worth of dinners, then starting a relationship until just recently about a year ago he moved in with me and the kids.  Right now he was busy filming “Avengers: End Game” down in his homeland of Australia.
One night as we were all facetiming with each other, Chris had given us a surprise.  He said that he and the entire cast would be in Disneyland to help promote the film and not only that, he got all four of us tickets to go throughout the park and spend an entire day at Disneyland.  The kids were so excited that they were finally gonna go to Disneyland, especially my little girl since she’s finally big enough to ride some of the rides.
Which leads us to here.  As I was putting the bags into the car I said.
“Dean, don’t forget to bring your chargers okay?”
“Yeah mom.”
“Leia, do you got your Simba plushie with you?”
“Right here mommy.” She exclaimed as she held out her stuffed Simba plushie that Chris had given her last Christmas.
“Henry you’ve got your lightsaber right?”
“Yeah, do you think I could really fly the Millennium Falcon?” he asked me.
“We’ll see. Okay Got the bags, toys, gaming consuls, DVD is all set up. Everyone got everything?” My kids all cheered out in choir unison. “So whose ready to go to Disneyland?” they all cheered and raised their hands and I continued, “Alright. Tickets are in my purse and off we go!” I started the car and started up the installed DVD player which played Leia’s and Henry’s favorite movie “Hercules”.
Thankfully with the help of a movie and Dean busy playing on his Nintendo, there wasn’t much complaining from the kids (which was perfect for me).  Finally after the long drive, we finally reached the archway of the entrance into Disneyland.
“We’re here! We’re here! Look over there I can see Woody!” All my kids were in pure awe as we drove under the archway, I could just feel from the front seat the energy these kids were about to unleash.  I was now waiting in line to pay for parking and when I had gotten up I greeted the worker and handed her my license and money.
But when she saw my picture she handed me not only my license but the cash back as well and she told me.
“No payment necessary ma’am, we’ve actually been told of a special reserve spot for you to go to.” At first I was confused but then it dawned on me.
“That Aussie I tell you what.”
“One of our workers will escort you to your special reserved spot.” It was then another worker came up and he asked if he could hop into the car so he could be my navigator. I allowed him in the passenger seat and he told me exactly where to go.
We drove around for about 5 minutes till we reached the reserved front corner entrance where standing there with sunglasses on was Chris.  He grinned and waved to us and the kids waved back to him.  I parked in the parking spot and as soon as I turned off the engine, all the kids raced out and glomped him.
“There are my favorite three little munchkins!” Chris proclaimed as he wrapped his arms around all three of my kids at the same time and even lifted them up and spun them around, making them laugh and cheer.
“And what about me? Am I just the cabbie driver? Or just some old maid here to serve your favorite three munchkins?” I teased.  Chris set my kids down and he said.
“On the contrary, you my lady are the beautiful good witch who protects and nurtures them. A witch that has put even a god like me under her spell.” He wrapped his arms around me, swaying me gently from side to side grinning down at me.  I grinned up at his sweet talk before our lips joined together only to be disrupted when a choir of voices cried out.
“EWWW!!!!” We separated to see all three of my kids with a look of disgust on their faces.
“Ahh no it’s not gross. Be patient soon enough all of you will be doing this.” Said Chris.
“Over my dead body.” I mocked.  “I want my babies to stay this young forever! Especially my little man.” I said as I walked up to my kids before hugging my eldest son close.  I swarmed his face with kisses and ruffled his ‘lion mane’ like hair that he inherited from his father.
“Mom! Mom, you’re messing with my mane!” Dean cried out as he tried to get out of my embrace. When I finally released him he backed away and tried to readjust his hair to that sweep-over hair that looked like it belonged back in the 1980’s.
“I need to plan an appointment to get your haircut mister.”
“No!” he then raced over to Chris and hid behind him.
“No worries mate, I won’t let any barber cut this hair of yours.” Chris said as he stroked my son’s hair.
“Coming from the very man whose worn the same long blonde wig for years.”
“Hey the last few movies I didn’t have to wear one. But this meeting isn’t about haircuts, now whose ready for a full fun day at Disneyland?!” The kids all raised their hands crying out ‘me! Me! Me! Me!’ “Awesome, already got our tickets, so let’s go out there and have a full day of family fun!” We all cheered before racing onward into the park.
There were so many rides that it was almost impossible to pick just one.  However my daughter who has always favored the merry-go-round no matter whether it was a state fair, amusement park or whatever, anytime she saw a Merry go round she wanted to go on it.
So as a nice little warmup, we all got in line for the merry-go-round.  We waited for I don’t know 5-10minutes in line before they let the next several people to go aboard.  My sons went straight for the two twin black horses while my baby girl went for a white stallion with a pink saddle on it.  As I was about to get on my horse, Chris came up and he said.
“Allow me my lady.”
“Why thank you good sir knight.” I mocked in probably the worst British accent I could muster. I felt his hands go to my waist and he gently hoisted me up and I ended up rising side-saddle but then what I didn’t expect was for Chris to get right behind me.  “Uhh Chris, I don’t think we’re allowed to do this.”
“Relax love, it’ll be okay.” He assured me.  The bell soon sounded off and soon an accordion version of ‘A dream is a wish’ started plaything through the speakers and the ride began.
All around us, kids were cheering and waving to their parents who were standing along the railings watching their kids ride all by themselves, young couples riding side by side holding hands or riding in the sleighs nonchalantly kissing each other.
I felt Chris take my hands in his and I felt his head gently lean against mine and a kiss at my temple.  I smiled and nuzzled against him as the ride continued to go on.
After the ride we continued to walk around the park riding more rides like the Mad Hatter’s teacup ride, and Toy Story Mania that was until we finally reached the famous Splash Mountain.
“Ohh mom look! Splash Mountain!” Henry proclaimed as he was now riding on top of Chris’ shoulders.
“I see it Henry.”
“Can we go on that next, please?”
“I guess we can, but I’m not sure if everyone’s tall enough to ride it.” I teased as I looked down at my daughter who was holding my hand.
“Yes I am mama! We measured me last month! I’m big enough.” She said as she pulled on my hand.
“Ohh that’s right, well let’s get a second opinion from the official park height measurements.” We all headed over to the line entrance of Splash Mountain and Leia immediately went up to the height chart.  “Okay, now stand still baby girl.” She hummed happily as she could barely contain her excitement. “No cheating now.” I told her in my mom voice and that made her stand still.
In the end, she was eligible to ride Splash Mountain.
“Okay, everyone stick together now.” Leia cheered happily and her brothers high-fived or fist-bumped her and even Chris did a double fist bump with her as he cheered and picked her up.
“Alright that’s my girl! I told you were growing like a weed!”
“Okay everyone let’s get into the line before it gets too long.” We all got in line and we waited. After what felt like forever and the kids complaining about when the line would move faster, hanging off both mine and Chris’ hands and arms, we finally got closer to the ride.  Since there were five of us we decided to divide up the group, I took Henry and Leia while Chris and Dean rode together, being the big boys that they were.
I got in the log first with the help of the ride attendant and I told Leia to get in first so that way she would be in the middle and Henry could ride up front.  Once we were buckled in and the guy gave us the all clear and the worker at the controls gave a thumbs up and soon we were off.
We went along the trail before going up the first hill.  Hearing the ticking of the controls as it took us up higher and higher before finally dropping us downward on the small uphill.  We were all cheering and laughing as we allowed the current to push us faster than we did when we first went out.
We were now shrouded in darkness as we were now inside the mountain before we would go off the big hill that would take our picture.
“Is this the big drop yet?” asked Leia.
“Yeah Leia, and watch this, this time I’m gonna have both my hands up in the air!” proclaimed Henry.
“Just make sure you don’t unbuckle yourself Henry.” We soon saw the light at the end of the tunnel and I said as I hugged my daughter’s waist. “Here we go.” As soon as we went off the drop-off we all screamed before finally splashing down at the bottom, getting soaked with water.  Both my kids were laughing and clapping. “So Leia, was it everything you thought it would be?”
“It was better mama! We went up and up and up till we went SHOOSH!!” I smiled down at her and I saw Henry was about to get out as soon as we saw the exit point.
“Hold on Henry, wait till we come to a complete stop.” Another worker soon placed their foot on our log and she said.
“Please watch your step as you exit the log, and we hope you have a good rest of your day at Disneyland. And don’t forget about our fireworks show tonight at 8pm in front of Cinderella’s castle.”  She helped my kids out and I got out on my own with a bit of help from her.  As we collected our stuff, we waited at the bottom of the exit point for Chris and Dean.
A few minutes later we saw them coming down (well Dean was more like racing down while Chris was the one walking).
“Did you boys have fun?”
“You bet we did, and how about you Princess? Was it exciting?” Chris asked as he scooped up my daughter and she laughed giddily.
“It was soo much fun, can we go on it again?”
“Maybe later, for now let’s go see our pictures.” He answered.  We walked further down the trail till we reached the giftshop and went up to the picture booth and waited and that’s when I pointed out for Henry and Leia.
“Look there we are.” All three of our faces filled with screams or joy.  Henry as promised had both of his hands in the air and his eyes were wide.  Meanwhile I turned and saw Chris and Dean’s pictures.  Chris had covered Dean’s eyes with his hands while his blue eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his sockets, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Shall we get a copy?” he asked.
“I don’t know…..”
“C’mon this is my treat.”
“Baby I don’t want to feel like I’m taking advantage of your well-earned—”
“You’re not. This is me treating my lovely girl and her children on a day of fun.” He pecked my cheek before turning to the kids giving them the signal to back him up.
“Please mama, please!” They all ganged up against me giving me the puppy dog eyes, Chris included as he had all my kids in his arms looking right up at me.
“Ohh…..alright.” The kids cheered and then turned to Chris telling him what they wanted.  In the end Dean got a keychain, Henry got a small picture frame and Leia got a small locket, and Chris got him and I a copy of a picture frame of our picture.
After a few more rides, we all began to get hungry so we found ourselves a nice little food court restaurant called “Mickey’s Italian shop”.  As we ordered out food, like you would see on Youtube of the characters coming up to the guests just to hang out with the customers.
So we ended up having Mickey and Pluto coming over to our table.  Pluto being my daughter’s favorite Disney dog was thrilled and gave him a big hug and of course Pluto hugged her back before using that tongue that always hangs out to give her a ‘doggy kiss’.  It was so adorable that I just had to get a picture of them together, I also got some pictures of my boys with Mickey and Chris took one with me, Pluto and Mickey.
The day continued to press on and soon it was nightfall and everyone gathered at Cinderella’s castle to grab the best spot for the fireworks show that was about to happen in the next 7 minutes.  Even with the crowd of people that were already sitting down, we still managed to get good enough seats to still see the castle’s full stature.
After waiting a few more minutes the lights went off and we all cheered as the castle first lite up a lightshow for us.  Showing images and clips from various Disney films as ‘Circle of Life’ blared from the speakers.  Chris and I looked at each other before leaning against one another watching the light show and seeing the kids stare in awe.  Then the big event happened.
A giant red firework shot up and exploded into the sky.  Everyone oohed and ahhed as more fireworks began to fly into the sky before exploding into various colors and sizes.
“Did you have a good time love?”
“This was the most wonderful time I’ve ever had at Disneyland. Even when I was a kid, it didn’t compare to this.”
“I think this might get a little more interesting.” He said.  I was about to ask him what he meant by it but he pressed a finger to my lips and turned my chin back toward the sky.  We continued to watch the fireworks but then something happened I had never seen happen at a Disney firework show.
One firework that went off created an image of Mjolnir, Thor’s famed hammer before three fireworks fired off immediately spelling out.
“YOU AR WORTHY TO ME.” My jaw slowly dropped and I felt my heart stop.  Soon another phrase spelled across the sky, “WILL YOU LET ME BE WORTHY OF YOU?” I turned to Chris who now stood on one knee holding out a small ring.  A spotlight came down onto us and I could hear everyone gasp and cry out around us.
“(Y/n), these past few years have been the best years of my life. I didn’t think I would be happy, until you came into my life. Will you make me the happiest man in the world, and marry me?” he opened the box revealing the ring sparkling under the spotlight’s bright light.  I was in tears as I was covering my face with my hands.
Everyone around me, including my kids telling me to say yes.  I nodded rapidly and kissed him with as much passion as I could muster while all around us, everyone was applauding and my kids cam around us and hugged us.
“Ladies and gentlemen we’d like to have the honor of introducing Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth and his new fiancée!” I cupped his cheeks and he kissed my forehead, down my cheek before reclaiming my lips with his.

Saturday 6th November 1824
8
2 ½
Breakfast at 9 20/60 from 9 ¾ to 10 ¾ (3/4 hour translating the Italian and the other ¼ turning into French) about a page of Jacopo Ortis – Mrs Heath then came to call on me and staid ¾ hour – she talked to me unreservedly of herself – she seems amiable and good tempered and I really like her. She spoke of her great affliction in losing her husband the ruin of all her fair prospects, and the envy she could not help feeling of the prosperity, she had left home because instead of rejoicing at her sisters happiness who was just returned from India. She could not bear to see it, it made her miserable and she sought to hide herself among strangers, she knew what virtue was and nobody admired it more but she could not help these bad envious passions. She spoke with a degree of candor and simplicity that pleased. I told her I had never met with anyone so candid, many were like her but would not own it, there was a proverb, misery likes companions and it was true of all the world –
Just before Mrs Heath went Mrs Barlow came and sat with me till 3 20/60 all the while Mme Galvani was here who came at 1 40/60 and staid till 3 ¼ - I changed her this morning to oblige Young de Boyve spent all the time in conversation – said I had translated too little and would shew it another time - Mme Galvani had expressly for me gained permission for me to visit the Catacombs – nobody allowed to see them now but I might go with the inspector general of the public works – asked for Mrs Barlow to go – that she would accomplish - saying Mrs Barlow was my Castor and I her Pollux – She would get me [abs] billets tickets to see the Fusco paintings at the Pantheon (Ste.Genervieve) the column in our Place Vendȏme, &c &c. I like Mme Galvani
She may have been galante, Mrs Barlow told me she had made out from her conversation she had had three amants [lovers] but I care not for this, she is an Italian – flirting and lovemaking to Mrs Barlow but nothing particular save that she said she was not fond of kissing, never let her friends do it, it was not like her to let me do so. Wondered why she did, could not quite excuse herself I said it was all my fault but she knew not the pleasure it gave me to kiss her, it could do no harm and was kind of her to indulge me. I liked not the thing in general nor liked seeing ladies kiss each other but I myself had different feelings and only did it when I felt them interested. She certainly resists me less and less I put my arms round her waist and she said nothing but stood quietly, my thigh touching hers all its length –
Mrs Barlow went to her daughter who arrived from school at 3 20/60 at 3 40/60 we went out – bought gloves in the rue de la parix, took the round of the Tuileries gardens and came in at 4 40/60 – Looked at the books M.Cologue lent me the other day – Cuvier’s Mammalia, Temminck’s birds, and another work on birds – Sat down to dinner at 5 40/60 – Sat all the eveing close to Mrs Barlow (near the fire and latterly apart from all the rest) talking only to her – M.Le Viconte de Nappe (mad as the winds to all appearances, singing and playing a thousand pranks – he had been in confinement and M. Dacier and M. de Billevue came – they played at secretaire all sitting round the table and before that they party has assembled round the table and Miss Harvey read aloud to them – still I sat talking to Mrs Barlow –
At first mere badinage then somehow or other told her the Blackstone Edge business with Pi [Mariana] last September, said I had promised to forget it but could not. Pi [Mariana] had mentioned it to and consulted one of her friends who said Pi [Mariana] was wrong but I took it too seriously. I asked what Mrs B [Barlow] thought, she said she could tell me better if she knew whether Mrs L [Lawton] had given me the rings, and why should I tell her first one thing then another what could it signify whether she did or not fearing to make a mystery of it. I said Pi [Mariana] did give them, said they were binding so far as this (Mrs Barlow had before desired me to look at them) if Pi [Mariana] was a widow our living together would be judicious and convenient to all parties and in a foolish moment as one often does, we had so agreed but it was mere friendship, and if I met with anything beyond this of course it was a different thing and was at liberty to take, but it would seem necessary to give some explanation and to tell Pi [Mariana] the nature of the circumstance, which might be awkward and disagreeable.
Mrs Barlow said and seemed to think and feel yes but said it would never pass farther but Mrs Barlow said she thought Pi [Mariana] liked me, ah said I significantly, if she liked me as well as you do I should (but she acted properly she was married and it would not be right now -) be satisfied and perhaps, she answered she likes you better, no no said the circumstance I have just told you [Blackstone Edge] is proof against that. Yes, said Mrs Barlow, if there had been love in it she would not have consulted a third person but she added she would suit you best for many things, I am too old for you and she will have a good fortune to add to yours, what will she have. Oh, said I, perhaps a thousand a year but she must have five hundred and I never like to think of the most and therefore only calculate on the latter sum. This led me to ask what will be your income should your daughter marry, said she, that depends upon myself and I have not calculated them, said I, would it be three hundred a year or tell me what is your income now, I would answer you any question you asked me here. We were interrupted but I do not think she liked or meant to give me a direct answer.
She had said in the morning she thought Pi [Mariana] liked me, I declared not and said besides that I had no inclination I always went on as I had begun I had begun with friendship to Pi [Mariana] and should end with it. I was too much accustomed to her, the charm the witchery of something dearer was destroyed forever, but I have begun differently with Mrs Barlow and be my fate what it may, I must end with her too as I have begun. I asked if she understood me, she said yes. I had before told her I preferred the society of married ladies, single old ladies who had not been married had not so much tact, one could take more liberties with them, their conversation was more lax &c. We agreed, said I spoke from one or two instances, hinted Anne Belcombe and Miss V [Vallance] but almost wholly at the former. I had begun by disliking but her assiduity had worn this off, she used to come to my room, had staid till three in the morning and I should have been tired if I could not have amused myself. I said ladies sometimes made curious presents, said no more but hinted at the hair of their privy parts.
Told her when she asked me I should be thirty two the third of April next – she said tonight after I had told her the Blackstone Edge business she had often told me, before Mrs Mackenzie she was, I had been in love she was sure I could love deeply she knew it from the distinction made tho only in joke but perhaps after this (told her it happened last September), did I not like Pi [Mariana] well now as before – said I thought she, Mrs Barlow, would not have done so in such a case she thought perhaps, but said she, you know I am very romantic, too much so yet I would not part with it – In coming away with Mrs Barlow, Madame de Boyve wished me goodnight saying she had not seen a great deal of me I gravely said I was sorry I had seen nothing at all of her she asked me to go with them to the Oratoire tomorrow and then to call on Madame Galvani. I said I was sorry I had promised to accompany Mrs Barlow and Miss de Sans and M. Dacier to M Denons at two and could not – she seemed disappointed and is deadly jealous I will make up to her a little on Monday – Mrs Barlow certainly enjoys the attention I pay herself – Came upstairs at 11 10/60 – parted with Mrs Barlow at her room door – very fine day –from 11 55/60 to 1 ½ writing all this journal of today – Fahrenheit 58 at 1 1/2 p.m E… O.. –

Fun Fact:  Secretaire - is apparently a French parlor game ‘in which players try to communicate in sentences reduced to their initial letters.’
