My favourite thing about the MXTX leads is how their whole thing is not leaving no matter how many times they're rejected. But it's not toxic the way popular (often heterosexual) media is, with the dude declaring love every day until the girl he likes is nearly gaslighted into accepting it. They've been rejected. That's fine. They're not here for love. They genuinely want to help, even if it means they will never be loved back. They won't even confess their feelings if they can help it. They just can't stand seeing the person they love suffer alone, and that's why they keep coming back.
The point when they then realise that the feelings are mutual....are always hilarious. Like "Why didn't you tell me?! You didn't want to be in my way? I've had a crush on you since forever!"

one of the painful things about wangxian
Okay so here we have mxtx three main couples : Bingqiu, Wangxian and Hualian.
So I think many people has to know how painful it was for LWJ to wait for WWX.
Sure, SQQ waited, he knew that Binghe would come back and Binghe came back way earlier than in PIDW and both of them atleast knew that and the other knew he was atleast safe and would survive well until they meet again.
and then we have hualian , in this hua cheng waited. For 800 fucking years. Out of the three of them, he had to wait for 800 years. More like, he searched for him in the three realms, looking out for his beloved in any ways he could -god I can't stress enough about this- BUT he atleast knew that Xie Lian was alive. Even though he was not okay and suffering even in the tiniest bit, he knew that he was alive, breathing and living.
But Lan Wangji? He didn't know. This man didn't even know that his beloved got killed until he came back from his punishment and HE DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO BELIEVE THAT HE DIED. So he dragged his heavy body with injuries to the mounds where he could atleast see for himself that if he's there or not. Trust me when I say this, he wasn't going to accept that WY was dead until he saw his corpse which he never did. So he believed that he'd come back. Because death never stopped Wei Wuxian anyway. You know why? The first time being the incident of Xuanwu cave, it was serious but he came back. The second being the 3 month disappearance after wwx's core thing and the burial mounds. Everyone thought he was dead. But LWJ didn't, he wasn't going to believe until he search him and see it with his own eyes. And WWX did come back. Even after the siege , he wanted to search. He wasn't going to believe the rumours (cough cough) that the mighty yiling patriarch was dead. So that's what he did.
He spent YEARS for searching someone who was dead and let me tell you. He was not just dead. He was LONG dead. No one could summon his soul, no spirit or god could even tell where wwx was. If a person wasn't dead, then there is no use in asking the deceased but LWJ did anyway. He knew that he might not see wwx ever again, deep in his heart but he wasn't ready to believe. What breaks me even more is the fact that if MXY hadn't summoned Wei Wuxian, Lan wangji would have never even found him and wwx would have been stayed as the horrible yiling patriarch.
Lan wangji would have never found him, even more, he would have still searched for him until his death.

"You're so short, love," Xiao chuckled patting his girlfriend on the head. Y/n pouting like a child. "And you're as tall as a freaking ladder."
It was time for Xiao to leave for work and he was teasing Y/n by not giving her a goodbye kiss. "I'm warning you, if you don't kiss me goodbye, you won't get to sleep on the bed tonight," Y/n said turning away to hids the smile creeping up her lips.
"Oh c'mon babe. You know I was joking, babe please look at me," Xiao tried turning his lover to face him but Y/n stiffened up her body, resisting his gentle pulls.
Xiao knelt down in front of her, still trying to make Y/n look at him. Suddenly, Y/n turned around, pulling Xioa by the collar giving him a long kiss. Xiao was stunned for a second before kissing back as passionately.
As they pulled away, Y/n smirked. "See. I made you come down for me."
Xiao smiled sweetly. "How can I not, my Tinker Bell?"

Karma in MDZS - Part 1 - Chenqing
Part 1 of 3
Part 2 | Part 3
Chenqing: expressing old feelings
This is the name of Wei Wuxian's flute
Wei Wuxian was born cursed. His mother was a disciple of Baoshan Sanren. Baoshan Sanren was said to have accepted a lot of disciples, but she never let them leave the mountain, because she didn't understand the outside world. If her disciples left, she told them to never come back, because it would let "disputes of the outside world into the mountain".
Three disciples, however, still left the mountain. These disciples are Yanling Daoren, Cangze Sanren, and Xiao XIngchen.
The first disciple who left was very outstanding. When he first left the mountain, due to his mastery over his skills, everyone praised and admired him, and he became a famous cultivator of the righteous path. But afterwards, people don’t know what he went through, but his personality changed drastically, and he suddenly became a villain who killed people without blinking twice. In the end, he died under thousands of swords.
Chapter 40
This is the story of Yanling Daoren (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). We all know Xiao Xingchen's story. Then we have Cangze Sanren, who died, and left behind a child, Wei Wuxian. You know what they say, one is a fluke, two is a coincidence, but three is a pattern. There's a clear pattern of Baoshan Sanren's disciples suffering once they leave the mountain. Wei Wuxian's story echoes both Yanling Daoren's (having the world turn against him), and Xiao Xingchen's (sacrificing a necessary body part for a loved one), which I think proves that there is a similarity here.
I do not know the Chinese understanding of karma FOR SURE, but I am guessing, due to Buddhist influence, it'll be similar to the hindu understanding, which I'll be using in this post. And, in Hindu and Buddhist theology, monkhood or isolating oneself from society and not interacting with it is a way to remove oneself from samsara, the endless cycle of life and rebirth, which karma plays an important role in. As in, by living in a mountain, they are removing themselves from karma entirely. This removes suffering, but, it also removes a lot of the joys in life. The path of living without karma requires that you treat pain and pleasure equally.
A-Qing, “Then how can you withstand the boredom? There’d definitely be disciples who want to go outside and play.”
Xiao XingChen, “You’re right.
Chapter 40
We don't know the mechanics of all this. Is Baoshan Sanren picking up disciples with bad karma and training them out of that karma? Is it bad karma that these three defied their teacher and left the mountain? What did Yanling Daoren do, to be treated as a villain? But, there is one question we do have an answer to, which is... could their suffering have been prevented? There is no one who hasn't died tragically among these 4 people. Cangze Sanren seemed to have a fairly pleasant life before she died, and didn't die as tragically as Yanling Daoren or Xiao Xingechen, but that suffering seems to have been passed down to Wei Wuxian, who did suffer. So, I'd say, the answer is no, their suffering could not have been prevented.
You can have theories, probably, of what happened to Wei Wuxian specifically. Was he evil in his past life, to deserve such terrible treatment? Did his soul decide to take on the pains of Changze Sanren's karma to give her a more pleasant life? We don't KNOW. I'm leaning towards evil in his past life than soul being self sacrificial, because of his personality, and because of his story, lol.
MXTX actually gives us an example of a self sacrificial someone with good karma in another one of her books, which is Shen Yuan!Shen Qingqiu in scum villain. Shen Qingqiu is a very different person from Wei Wuxian. Shen Qingqiu is almost unendingly kind, thinks well of everyone, even when they hurt him, he holds no grudges from the beginning, and he ends up saving the world without doing anything but being loving.
Wei Wuxian, on the other hand, clearly holds grudges. He dislikes people like Jin Zixuan, he's petty towards Lan Qiren and Lan Wangji when Lan Qiren picks on him. This is understated, but WWX's major driving force in the world is spite. The need to prove himself, the need to have everyone see that he is, unequivocally, the best, and to respect him for it. He tries his HARDEST to help people, and fails.

Okay, but Autistic characters somehow being portrayed as rude and definitely aware of their rudeness whilst being viewed as fucking infants is so weird and shitty.
Like, Lan Wangji is seen by all the other characters as intimidating and shit because he's formal with his speech (when he even speaks, which he rarely does) and he has a "deadpan face".
Like those are just neurodivergent and probably even autistic traits????
And then there's Quan Yizhen who's asocial af and doesn't seem intered it in any form of social etiquette (it's "asocial" not "antisocial" ffs, those are two completely different things) and he's seen as a rude and brash god.
He's also viewed as a baby because he doesn't understand sarcasm or jokes and has a very straight forward thought process unless someone actually bothers themselves enough to explain it to him (which I doubt anyone even does).
Just stop??? The characters, the narrative, the fandom, everyone is just being abliest in one way or the other when it comes to to these characters.

Tag Game: First Ten Lines
Rules: share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway.
@deducingcircumference tagged me on this, so here I am. Uh, honestly, lately my top first line would be my thesis, but that's boring and no one wants to read that, so I needed to do a bit of dumpster diving into my folders to see what were my latest WIPs since everyone knows I have a figurative billion of them.
Crossing Universes - ORV x DCMK, posted
[The time limit for the first game is over.]
Untitled - FKBU x DCMK, WIP
Inspector Kanbe Daisuke glanced around at the somewhat-organized chaos that was happening all around him with a furrowed brow.
Insider - DCMK, WIP
Finding out had been a complete accident.
Refusal to Kneel - DCMK, WIP
His perp was someone with a narcissistic personality.
Commanding Officer - FMA, WIP
“Edward Elric.”
Stealing and Healing Hearts - DCMK, WIP
The headline on the newspaper that morning was different from any other headline ever written.
Here Be Dragons - DCMK, WIP
There had been whispers, rumors, of the National Police Agency obtaining some sort of “secret weapon.”
Wraith - DCMK, WIP
Twenty-one-year-old Kudou Shinichi had never seen eyes so dead in the face of a living person.
Untitled - MDZS, WIP
Fuck, I knew it’d be bad, but I didn’t think it’d be this bad… though in all honestly, I wish I was dead.
Untitled - SVSSS x MDZS, WIP
The arid heat and sulfurous scent of magma and the shrill, breathy notes of a dizi greeted his return to consciousness.
As far as who to tag going forwards, @thrushsong-kvaris, @villklovn, @ota-chan, @tangentiallly, @artistfingers, and @privateeye-cj, any one of you want to give this a shot? No pressure to do it, though! :)
