Javier Escuella X F.Reader - It's never to late to repent (Part 7) 18+

It was very late at night and you were still lying wide awake in your bed. Outside it was storming and raining like crazy. It was always uncomfortable for you when thunderstorms were coming; you just felt uncomfortable. Every time it rumbled, you winced, and you could never understand how some people could see that as relaxation. Javier was such a person who could fall asleep very well during thunderstorms.

Javier had been gone for a week now and of course, you missed him. But on the other hand, you were very proud of him, because he worked really hard to earn his money and to start a new life together you needed every cent. The dress you had made for Mrs. Hantoon had brought you good money and she had been so enthusiastic about your work that she had told her friends all about your skills and you could be sure to get more requests soon.

Since there was no point in tossing and turning in bed to find sleep, you get yourself up out of bed. You turn on the light by lighting an oil lamp, and put on your robe before leaving the bedroom. You felt the need to eat something small. Sometimes hunger came at night and you couldn't do anything to get rid of that feeling; or rather, you didn't want to do anything about it. What was wrong with satisfying your hunger? You still had some oatmeal cookies in the tin and you were looking forward to enjoying them with a cup of tea. You were a bit surprised when you saw a burning oil lamp on the dining table. Have you forgotten about it? This was not typical for you, but on the other hand you were alone in this house.

However, you noticed a strange smell that you could not inhale at all and a strange feeling came over you immediately.

You carefully placed the oil lamp in your hand on the table and carefully observed your surroundings. Something told you to leave this house immediately, but it was already too late.

You stopped, transfixed, when suddenly dark voices spoke to you and the shadows slowly formed into two men. Two strange men you had never seen before. Instantly you recoil and the only thought you have right now is the shotgun hanging on the wall that was within your reach. But you knew you had to be careful because these strangers were also armed and you would have a bullet between your eyes faster than you would reach your shotgun.

"What are you doing in my house?"

"We're just here for Mister Escuella."

"Javier? What business do you have with my man?"

They both laughed. They were the same men who had watched Javier and you from a safe distance some time ago. Cole was waiting outside for his men. Javier was not the priority right now; Angel Eyes wanted you, for he knew that Javier would come to him once you were his prisoner. Still, he wouldn't make it quite so easy for Javier to find you...

"There is someone, including us, who has unfinished business with Javier. To find you here is a great pleasure for us."

"You better go now."

But the men were not intimidated by you, they were more amused at your attempt to force them out of the house.

"We don't take orders from women."

Henry, the big, robust man who looked like a bear, approached you and you could smell strong alcohol on his breath coming out of his mouth. You instantly felt sick.

"Sam, go to Cole. I'll be with you in a minute with this fine woman."

"What, you want her all to yourself?"

"Get the fuck out of here! I will fuck this whore's pretty pussy good! I've got priority! You can have her afterwards!"

"No!" you scream at the men in panic and horror.

"Now go!"

Reluctantly, Sam left, unable to argue his case as he was last in the gang hierarchy and so he had no choice but to listen to Henry and reluctantly left the house.

You didn't care what would happen if you reached for your shotgun now, because you wouldn't let those bastards violate you! But Henry immediately reached for you, lifting you up as if you weighed nothing. He sets you down on the dining table and you instantly fight back as he pushes himself between your legs. He wastes no time in pushing your nightgown over your legs. Immediately you hit him and scratched his face, which made him very angry. Without warning he hit you in the face, pressing your entire body on the wooden table and you scream aloud.

"Don't touch me! NO!"

You were scared and you panicked, because this man would rape you and there was nothing you could do about it.

"Hold still, little bitch!"

Another slap and the pain almost made you go numb.

"No... no..."

As he forcefully penetrated you, you screamed in pain and you couldn't believe what just was happening. This man was brutal and your whole body stiffened. He got what he wanted, yet you tried to escape him, but he kept pulling you back against him.

"You dirty bastard! Stop it!"

You instantly remembered the oil lamp that was placed on the table, just a few centimeters away from you and you tried to reach for it, over and over again, but with each of his brutal thrusts you were pulled towards him again.

"Yes, you like that, don't you?! Does Javier fuck you that well?! Whore!"

You manage to grab the oil lamp and hit him right in the face with it, whereupon your tormentor cries out in pain, because you just burned half his face. The one moment where he lets go of you is enough for you to get your shotgun and you didn't hesitate, but you knew it wasn't loaded. Still, you managed to intimidate him with it. He remained standing on the spot as you threatened him with a look of rage.

"Get out of here, you bastard. Or I'll blow your brain to pieces!"

But everything was about to go wrong for you tonight because, in the next moment, another man entered your home. It was Cole and immediately you aimed at him too, but he wasn't so easily to fool.

"Miss."

He took off his hat at the greeting and you could only shake your head as this behavior was absolutely inappropriate and ridiculous.

"Henry, what did you do to that lady?"

"What?! That fucking whore! Look at my face! I'll kill her!"

"You will do nothing of the sort. Calm down."

Cole was calm, relaxed. He was a man who was cold, who had no compassion for others. He always did a job cleanly and without detours.

"Miss, put the gun down before I'm forced to shoot you."

"GET OUT! YOU BASTARDS! OR I'LL KILL YOU BOTH!"

"We both know your shotgun isn't loaded."

Cole was very sure of himself. He pulled off his fine leather glove as he approached you and you knew you wouldn't get out of this desperate situation...

"Javier, thank you for your help. You did a fantastic job!"

"Thank you, Mister Hazard."

"George. Just call me George."

The man's sympathetic smile was infectious and made Javier return it. He really couldn't have picked a better boss.

It was just before sunset when the two men took another walk down to the lake.

"Ah, I could use a good beer right about now. How about you, Javier?"

"Yeah, sounds good!"

"Let's head on over to Billy's then."

Javier and George enjoyed the sunset for a moment longer. It was quiet and peaceful around them.

"George?"

Javier gazed out into the lake, also looking at the sky, which was turning the most beautiful shades of red as the sun slowly set. Leaning against the wooden railing, he relaxed.

"Huh?"

"I still wanted to thank you."

George didn't know why or for what, so he looked at him a little confused at first.

"For what, Javier?"

"For clearing my head. But also for taking me in, giving me a chance to start a new life."

But George just smiled and grabbed his shoulder, squeezing it softly.

"Don't mention it, Javier."

Real life was just beginning for Javier and you, and he would do anything so you could have a happy life, too. And who knew if you wouldn't become parents again? The desire was deeply rooted in Javier, but that was a very sensitive subject for both of you...

It was still dark when Javier saddled his horse in the early morning hours and started his journey home. He wanted to be with you as soon as possible. With a smile on his lips, he thought of you and he couldn't wait to hold you in his arms. It occurred to him that he could get you another gift, because he had earned really well for his last job and he wanted to make you happy. Maybe a big bouquet of red roses? And something sweet to go with it? And another beautiful necklace? In Blackwater he would surely find what he was looking for in jewelry! Javier smiled a little, because he simply enjoyed making you happy. He would have some time to think of something nice.

Javier didn't even suspect what terrible thing had happened...

My Street Ramblings

Ok ok ok so @gonedreaminggg put it into words very well when they described My Street characters as more of characters than people. Which is so true!! Like I can list off some personality traits of some characters, but can you honestly tell me what Katelyn really thinks about Zane? Even though they're both main characters?

(Editors note, this post ran the fuck away from me so it's long as fuck sjdfjsdhg)

The problem MS has is that a lot of these characters get boiled down to the silliest, memeist versions of themselves, until Jess did a spin maneuver and made the series a story driven show with a darker tone and promptly crashed her faster car into a brick wall. But even before that happened, a lot of MS characters were lacking because of the forced perspective.

Until the plot shows up in season 4 and mandates characters splitting up constantly, a lot of the series is (sometimes literally) only seen from Aphmau's perspective. If interesting character drama is happening and she isn't around for it, it won't be seen. This was somewhat rectified in Season 5, but it was really too little too late. Because Aphmau has to be around for important stuff to happen, we don't really know the characters on a smaller scale, because the series is allergic to taking things slow.

Imagine an episode that's just watching Nana go through her day. She wakes up, starts making coffee, pulls a blanket over Katelyn who fell asleep on the couch watching K-drama's last night, and then goes outside with her morning coffee, a small breakfast, and sits on her porch and scrolls through Tumblr while people watching.

We follow her taking the bus to get to her barista job, and watch as she goes through an opening shift. Scenes fade showing the different parts of her job, maybe she has to deal with an angry customer and we see how she responds. Maybe while she's working one of her other friends from My Street shows up and gets an order and they have a chat as she's working. We watch the care she puts into it, and how she leaves little positive notes with drawings of cats, hearts, and flowers next to their name on their order.

My Street characters suffer from feeling like they aren't doing anything if the Main Character isn't around. How does Travis like to spend his weekends? We can make headcanons about it, but the show, the actual text, can't answer such a simple question about one of it's main characters.

My Street also suffers from having too many characters, but if the series was willing to slow down, all of them could be given proper time, especially because a lot of characters probably spend time together when Aphmau and Aaron aren't around.

I'm talking about an episode where it opens on Garroth honking his horn, and then Zane comes trudging out of his house, gets in the passenger seat, and lets out a huff. Garroth just gives him the aux cord, and Zane puts on his high school emo playlist he unironically enjoys. Garroth nods along to or even lip-sings some of the song (probably Welcome To The Black parade by MCR, I just know all the Ro'maeve brothers love that song.)

Speaking of which, they then pick up Vylad, and all three of them just go for a drive. Eventually they drive into the country side, pull off, and then turn the car off. Garroth pops open the trunk and the three of them all just chill out on a pile of blankets and pillows that were already there. They sit in silence for a while. Vylad and Zane pass a vape pen around, and every now and then Garroth takes a hit off of it.

Finally they all just talk. About life, about their feelings, about their parents, whatever they can think to talk about. Maybe Garroth brings up some of his gripes about his roommate, or Vylad confesses that they're struggling to figure out how to come out to their parents. This is clearly a routine these three established, and something all three of them greatly appreciate. Garroth and Zane never quite felt like brothers to me, but this? I could see myself doing this with my brother.

And for my final random idea I had while in the shower, I want to talk about Melissa my beloved. A character who only exists to help prop up an already existing character. Melissa has almost no identity outside of being Aaron's Sister. Let me ask you this, what's her job? Without checking the wiki?

My idea is that she works for her parents company, a boring, dreadful, and soul draining office job. It's the same routine day in, day out, nothing changes. Wake up, drive to work, sit at her office for 8 hours, go home, sleep, repeat. Until on Friday, when she's truly had enough, when she's just so tired as she slams the car door as she's getting in her car to leave and hangs her head. She's so exhausted, so drained, so miserable. Her moment of anguish is interrupted by her phone playing a stupid love song, and you can just see her face relax the minute she hears it.

She answers the phone, puts it on speaker, and sets it up on a stand in her car. Her relaxed expression turns into a love struck grin, her ears relax, and her tail starts wagging the minute she hears her girlfriend Lucinda's voice. After the drudgery of every single day being the same, just hearing her voice is like medicine to Melissa.

And then the two talk the entire time Melissa is driving to Lucinda's, and they're so so so gay when they see each other in person. They both get dolled up and flirt like dorks the entire time, and then we get a montage of them going out clubbing, singing karaoke, and getting white girl wasted despite neither of them being white.

My Street characters don't feel like people because they're not. They're mostly one dimensional characters who exist to fill out a roster or scene, and we get depressingly little insight into who they are as people.

I hope this post gave them and the MS fandom something to chew on.

Friends to Lovers Tournament: Round 2, Side B, Match 1

Chrobin:

Imagine finding a stranger on the ground, picking them up, and saying ‘you are one of us now!’ That’s Chrobin for you! Chrom quite literally found Robin laying in a field unconscious and decided to bring them along on his little routine mission but one thing leads to another and Chrom is never without Robin. The two fight off medieval zombies, travel the continent, suffer and heal together as their story goes on. The core of Robin and Chrom’s relationship is their friendship but the game gives you the option to have them get married and wow, Chrobin real!!! I could ramble about their tragedy or their silliness but it all leads back to their friendship and how they stick together no matter what life and death throws at them. In a later game in the series their souls are imprinted together in an ancient weapon. What’s more romantic than being a powerful magical bracelet together?

KidKiller:

Submission 1: Listen, I know their romantic relationship is not technically canon, but they obviously care so deeply for each other! They would they would kill for each other and they would die for each other. Killer didn’t hesitate to eat that SMILE for a chance to save Kid, and Kid was obviously heart broken when he noticed what had happened to his partner, so much that he gave up his just refound freedom for it. They are PARTNERS (canon) and you know how they mean that. They’ve been best friends for ages, their relationship just couldn’t help but bloom into something more.

Submission 2: They’re best friends, they grew up together, they’re in love. They need each other more than anyone else, would do anything or fight anyone to keep the other by their side.

Submission 3: They aren’t lovey doves, but the loyalty! Kid and Killer were children they had a friend named Victoria who they both had a crush on, but years later they both became gang leaders and Victoria got killed by the most powerful gang in their country. In revenge, Kid joined together all the gangs and took down those that killed Victoria, and later formed a pirate crew with all the former gang leaders, with Killer as his right hand man.

I love the LOYALTY these two have, because Kid is always like “Imma do something so stupid!” and Killer is like “You shouldn’t do it, but go ahead none the less, I’ll be right next to you”.

2 more reasons why I love them, but they are a spoiler just so you know.

That time Killer ate a fruit the permanently deformed his face into a smile and made him able to express his emotions only through laughter in order to protect Kid, Kid got furious because he knows Killer has always been insecure about his laugh and smile.

Killer taking a hit that could’ve killed Kid, keeping them both alive but badly hurt.

Submission 4: They’ve been friends since childhood. Kid’s been through some tough things throughout the show (eg. losing an arm) but the only time we see him cry is when Killer has been tortured and experimented on. Killer goes a bit mad from said experience but only begins to calm down when he’s reunited with Kid. They call each other ‘partner’ or ‘my partner’. I can list more but think I’ve made my point 😆"

Welcome back to SirWow rambles about Rhythm doctor thoughts, this time more just spitballing a ton of thoughts. Per usual cut to not flood TL

First off Samurai and Insom in the baseball arc; Samurai is generally someone who has hitting stuff come natural to him. Insom is still suffering from insecurity and jealousy deep down towards Samurai. As such he’s trying to do better then him and despite being a better 2nd pitcher with Nicole, Insom keeps pushing Lucky to be a main hitter. Lucky however felt Insom going down the same path of fame chasing he went down so took him aside while Samurai was hitting. Insom chilled out and let go of his pride to celebrate Samurai’s winning shot. Lucky and Insom also getting a strange but silent understanding of each other.

Lucky and Miner I see becoming surprisingly good friends with a lot in common (just bros, sorry minerscales fans!) Lucky is a brick wall and generally won’t shove on his ideals but Miner is very open to change even if he’s a bit too trusting sometimes. I need to write more about them but a silly thought I had with them was them being the ones to help set up the talent show Iv been writing. Miner constantly trying to make Lucky laugh with silly party things and the thing to get him being a inflatable anvil taking 3 slow seconds to fall on him.

Logan and Hailey.,.. Logan finally admitting his love for Hailey over playing (Nicole’s) guitar behind their school late into the evening. Lucky and Nicole teamed up, giving Logan monotone but genuine support to go for it.

Now then.. I think Iv finally settled on my ages and other stuff for everyone so long list time

yeah i’ll bite what’s ur more correct hoo? 👀

for friends who have not yet read the series this is gonna spoil pretty much ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, everything. heroes of olympus, trials of apollo, etc etc so on and so forth. i am full of Opinions and by god's big green tits i'm gonna make them Heard.

alright listen. I have so much beef with heroes of olympus because like. the things it could've been. I'll list all my grievances first to get it all out of my system before telling you about my more correct version. if you'd like to skip the salt and get to the good bits, scroll down to the bolded text xox

gaea was a weak-ass antagonist with no real motivation outside of "she's trying to destroy humanity because she's evil." arguably, kronos was the same way, which when you look at him from a mythological standpoint it makes sense because his whole thing is trying to overthrow the gods (and really, the same could be argued for gaea; mythologically, she tends to cause some shit on occasion). but kronos had the lesser gods/demigods on his side, which added a fascinating aspect to the conflict in the og series, especially since, in the end, percy realized that they were right. everyone who had fought for kronos had justification for it. the gods used them, abused them, and abandoned them, and they were tired of being tools. and percy realized that, and changed the status quo so it would never happen again.

fast forward to heroes of olympus. gaea and the giants are destroying the world...........because they want to. there were no other arguments. there were no other motivations/antagonists to add a more interesting aspect to it. it was a classic good vs evil conflict with little to no grayness which,,,,isn't a bad thing, but it just wasn't as compelling.

camp jupiter. boyyyyyyyy howdy do i have a ramble for that. it's so insane to me that the camp was defended by kids and teenagers when an entire city full of adult demigods was literally just a short hike away from the camp itself ????? like. I get it was because camp jupiter was meant to be camp half-blood's opposite force or whatever but come on. one could argue that camp half-blood is similar because chiron is training kids to go on quests, but like......that's his mythological role. in the myths, that's what chiron does. and without an established city/safe place other than a summer camp, the greek demigods are child soldiers by necessity, but the roman demigods are child soldiers for literally no reason other than that the plot needs them to be. which ,, i'm not saying that's bad. i'm just saying it's not as good as it could be.

also the 7!!!!!!!! THE 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! honestly, I think their whole deal is boiled down to a classic case of TELLING, not showing. we were told all throughout the series that the 7 are all best friends ,, a family, even. we were consistently told that. but there was very little actual instances of this being shown. group interactions were uncommon, and relationship dynamics were limited almost exclusively to romantic relationships or surface-level friendships that were explored only as an opportunity for quips and funny moments, but nothing deeper than that (percy and jason, for example). even the romantic relationship that preceded the series, percabeth, was broken down into a blander, flatter version from before, and both characters suffered for it. piper/jason was also flat and flavorless for most of the series, and frank/hazel is just. a mess. a 13 year old dating a 16 year old is squeamish in any context, and throw leo into the mix to make a weird, unnecessary love triangle, and it's just. even more of a mess. throw in the fact that every single character was motivated purely by romance and romantic relationships, and that every character ended up in a romantic relationship, and well. y'all know I'm aroace, so that's fairly self-explanatory. nothing worse than a piece of media claiming to be found family but focusing only on romance. kill die die die maim tear.

also about the 7, but it seemed to me that.......rick was trying to mimic percy's inner monologue with all of them--the sarcasm, the dark humor, etc. we all fell in love with percy in the og series, and I think he was trying to make us like the new characters in the same way, but in doing so he just made them all mini percys while also sandpapering the real percy. give each member of the 7 a different sense of humor/personality is what I'm saying. come on.

calypso. the only reason she was even in the books was to give leo a love interest, because apparently the single worst thing that can happen to a character is to not have someone to kiss (sarcasm intended). the gods not freeing her from the island just threw literally everything won from the og series out with the trash, and like. we know the gods are just Like That sometimes but look me in the eyes and tell me percy jackson, the boy who had just fought for so long and lost so much to get the gods' heads out of their asses, would just assume they followed through and not even check to make sure that another person wronged by the gods, someone he was very close to, got freed from her prison. that's right, you can't. my percy would never.

in that same vein: caleo. not only was the relationship kinda shaky in the first place because it was only there to give leo someone to kiss, it's also....not very good. calypso spends all her time belittling, talking down to, and sometimes even hitting leo, a character who canonically grew up in an abusive household. idk about y'all but.....an abused character already being thrown into a relationship for no reason, and then having that relationship be abusive?? and portrayed as the height of romance????? not a good vibe. I also really hated how, on top of all that, leo left his found family (canonically the only people who have ever made him feel loved/like he belongs) to go travel the world with calypso. which. another classic instance of familial/platonic relationships always, constantly being on a tier lower than romantic relationships. and y'all know how I feel about that.

the poc characters. I'm not the best resource on this one, since I'm not a poc, but there are plenty of people in minorities who have spoken out on this point, and I urge you to listen to them, because those arguments are all valid ones. (here is a good post that provides a good overview). I also remember seeing a really good post about piper's indigenous heritage as well, but unfortunately it's been lost to the void of tumblr.

aphrodite cabin. rick riordan seems to have this complex where the only female characters he can write about are tomboyish, tough, and badass. which isn't bad, of course, but it becomes a problem when all the more feminine female characters are portrayed exclusively as bullies/wimps. smfh there's more than one type of character in this world, richard

octavian. I get it, I hated him, everyone hated him, but I really can't deny that he had the potential for a compelling story. being manipulated by the oracle spirits into playing right into gaea's hands????? it COULD have been sooooo good, but octavian had hardly any development/focus, and I think him being manipulated only came up once or twice. storywriting equivalent of "he a little confused but he got the spirit."

now, for my more correct version :]

gaea's whole deal is completely different. instead of destroying humanity just because she Can, gaea is destroying the gods because she's furious and grieving her children, the titans. kronos was chopped into pieces and cast into eternal oblivion by the gods and demigods, and the other titans were forced back into subjugation, and gaea, who's been dealing with the gods' shit for thousands of years, has had enough*. so she rallies her other children, the giants, to bring down the gods and western civilization to avenge the millennia of heartbreak and injustice. which, yeah, fair enough. the gods suck and they've done some shitty things.

*this was actually touched on in the books when piper was using her charmspeak on gaea during the final battle. and I don't own physical copies of the books and tried everywhere to find the exact quote but it eluded me so I'll do my best to paraphrase from memory, but piper was sympathizing with all the grief and loss gaea has suffered over the centuries. tartarus banished, kronos defeated twice, etc etc. and I feel like that had potential for gaea's motivations but it was literally only brought up that one time smh

bonus points if there was some nuance to both sides. a few monsters who fight alongside the protagonists because they rely on western civilization just as much as the gods/demigods do, or even some gods or demigods who fight alongside gaea for one reason or another (like octavian, if he had been better developed). something to add some new facets to the conflict, because that was part of what made the conflict against kronos so damn compelling.

the 7 would be a found family FIRST, and a group of individuals w romantic relationships SECOND, if at all. percabeth can stay, as long as it's. actually the percabeth we all know and love, not whatever the fuck we actually had. piper/jason is on thin fucking ice, and only happens with the caveat that both their characterizations are my more correct versions (see below). hazel/frank is NOT a thing. piper, annabeth, and hazel have on-page interactions and friendships, and they have conversations about shared trauma and bonding over their common pasts in abusive households and shit like that, instead of talking about boys every fucking time. there are complex and multifaceted interpersonal relationships within the entire 7, and each friendship/dynamic has a chance to shine.

jason and percy. oughhhhhhhhh I have sooo many thoughts about them. they're character foils. percy had to fight for respect. jason had to fight to be treated normally. they're sons of arguably the most powerful gods of all time. they're opposites in nearly every way, but in the very same breath they're mirror reflections of each other*. I'm all for them being best friends, but the "sharing a braincell" himbo thing they had going on? that was played off purely for humor? hell no. they have a very deep and complicated friendship because they recognize themselves in the other and yet they're so completely different that they're on opposite ends of a spectrum. sure, they can hang out and have fun, but at their core, they have both a deep-seated understanding for each other but their personalities also grate a bit because they're so completely different. maybe there's a sideplot of them learning how to get along/be amicable with each other because they're both very traumatized TEENAGERS with so much pressure and stress to deal with, which, combined with the inherent complications of their relationship already, would make them a powder keg ready to blow. and I'm here for that. *the groundwork for their relationship being "two sides of the same coin" was already laid with hera switching them, and even with some characters stating how similar they were in some ways, but of course it was never expanded on so that's why it's here in the more correct version :]

piper. sooooooooo many complicated feelings about her. at first she was a generic Not Like Other Girls type, which. felt soooo cheap to me and is probably why piper/jason felt so. meh. because they were BOTH very flat and one dimensional at first. but in my more correct version, piper and drew were able to bond over being underestimated/ignored as daughters of aphrodite and as women of color, and I also hold the concept of piper being more feminine soooo close to my chest. I love characters who are so tough and badass who aren't allergic to dresses and makeup. her sexuality is also explored/brought up before she suddenly has a girlfriend.

jason doesn't DIE right when I start to actually LIKE him. smh (I'm sorry but it felt SOOO cheap to me. like it was purely for shock value. killing and biting). I do, however, love the concept trials of apollo introduced of jason being much more relaxed and comfortable with himself both as a greek-leaning demigod and as a kid who no longer had to deal with all the weight and pressure of being a Leader (tm). and jason acting more like a greek demigod vs percy acting more like a roman demigod can be another aspect of them being mirror reflections of each other. as percy begins to pick up more roman traits (because i LOVE to study how trauma/circumstances can change a character), jason starts to pick up more greek traits. it's another facet to their very complicated, very deep relationship with each other.

i ALSO love the concept of jason having a villain arc. he was a mirror to luke in so many ways; child soldier, abandoned by his godly parent, huge responsibilities on his shoulders, etc. I'd even argue jason had it worse than luke since he was a son of jupiter and thus had the constant pressure accompanying that. I think he deserved to go a little apeshit instead of that "high priest of the gods" bullshit

leo started out as my favorite, but as the series progressed, his character development stayed right where it was in the lost hero. I would have loved to see him change and grow as a person; maybe having a sokka-style arc where he grows out of his misogyny and sexism, and also gains some maturity (I liked his jokes, but come ON.) he would also have a different sense of humor, because as I said earlier it felt like rick was trying to make everyone into a mini-percy. I would also have loved to see a character not end up in a romantic relationship, since leo canonically had a lot of complicated feelings about family; it would have been great catharsis for me, someone who also has a lot of complicated feelings about family, to see a character I could relate to be able to find a family all of his own, with people he genuinely cared about and who loved him back.

hazel gets more development in how she was literally from the past. she died. I want more development and focus on that smh!!!!!!! how much is different in the modern age?? how many times does she walk down the street and do a double take because something's so completely different??? how many nightmares does she have about dying???????

frank stays chubby throughout the entire series. he does Not have a sudden glowup where he's No Longer Fat. he also doesn't date a 13 year old godbless

NICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nico. first of all, him being gay is built up from day fucking one. maybe not said outright for a while, but it's at least CODED. it's not suddenly flung out of nowhere. for that matter, him being forcibly outed against his will is talked about more!!!!!!!!!!!! yes, jason was probably one of the best people he could have been forcibly outed to, but STILL !!! the trauma of having the choice taken away from you!!! especially for someone like nico, who was 1) raised in the 1940s where being gay was practically a death sentence and 2) sooo slow to trust. I need him to have some focus on that shit because it was fucked!!!!!!

in that same vein, solangelo is sooo much different. will solace gets some characterization in the pjo series to build him up beforehand, and he and nico interact a few times on-page in pjo as well to give their relationship some foundation as opposed to just. throwing them together for no reason. I would've really loved seeing them working together during the battle of manhattan!!! nico canonically has an admiration for will's bravery during the battle, and I would've loved to actually. ya know. see them work together on the page. I also think their dynamic has SOO much more to it than "sunshine bf/goth bf" that everyone+rick have turned them into. one of them is the son of death. one of them is a healer. will's probably lost so many of his friends because he was unable to save them. nico's lost so much of himself. they're soooooooo <333 by the time blood of olympus rolls around, they're already good friends, and almost losing each other in the battle only brings them even closer <3

annabeth and percy are still the same fucking couple/characters that i fell in love with in the og series, not the watered down romance we got

the final battle is much longer with much higher stakes (I want the camps having 24 hour watches while waiting for the enemy to attack again!! I want makeshift hospitals!!!! I want!!!!! a war!!! not a battle!!!!!!!!!)

Hello joifee I am once again here to ramble about my ideas!! :3

Ive been working on a little spinoff for eal, like a little "what if jimmy and fwhip found each other after the world ended" scenario.

Gem and fwhip having been living by themselves for about a year or two when they find jimmy. Or when he passes out in their front yard. But unfortunately he doesn't remember anything, even fwhip, because he's been away from the water too long, and now they have to figure out a way to get his memories back.

Putting him around water helps but it's a very slow process. And the whole time fwhip is just suffering. He's happy jimmy is back and alive, but they can't really pick up where they left off. (Plus they both have baggage and trauma from the world ending) fwhip just doesnt feel comfortable doing anything romatic if jimmy cant remember ya know? But he is scared to qnd does have to resist the urge to be casual affectionate a lot because of it. He really misses his orchid but has to hope they can get him back :(

Gem hates seeing what jimmys memory loss is doing to both of them, and gets really determined to help them. She starts studying magic again, and tries to find spells or something to help jimmy get his memories back faster. She also researches any magic that helps with severe pain/healing, because all three of them suffer from phantom/chronic pain, damaged limbs and a whole list of other medical and mental issues (jimmy living in the woods made his so much worse lol). Fwhip jokes about her becoming a doctor of sorts

Jimmy is just, really confused for the first few months. And every new thing he remembers doesn't help. But he can tell he and fwhip were more than friends before (he still gets butterflies around him <3) he doesn't know how close he was with gem before the memory loss, but he figures they weren't strangers, since she's working so hard to help him. All he remembers at the start is his cat, but that's because normans been following him around the whole time. Norman kinda becomes a constant actually, when jimmy’s memories get all scrambled and he's not really sure what to feel about fwhip

This story does have a happy ending!!! Maybe they finally get married once all of jimmy’s memories are back <3 that's all I have for right now but I'm sure I'll come up with more later hehe

One good thing about my current insomnia sure is that i was able to see that before I attempt to sleep! NGHHH DELICIOUS DRAMA gosh that just hurts so well like the happy moment of "omg my orchid is alive!!!" and "oh no he doesn't remember me at all" is just too good. Like the pain of longing to go back to what they had before but also then the fear that it wont be the same

also fwhip just pushing his desires and feelings aside to aid jimmy, because he knows that this is more important like its so important jimmy heals from his time and the apocalypse

Gem just being a hero but then i figure she also just misses jimmy in a way of a piece of her former life coming back. Because i can imagine while she didn't lost a lover, she sure did loose a friend which also hurts - considering all the other people they lost as well.

norman is just the best cat and genuinely happy that he sticks to jimmy. gosh i cannot imagine what happened to jimmy in those two years being probably very confused about everything.

ALSO YES HAPPY END AHHHH SUCKER FOR THAT also genuinely fics with marriage in the end - gosh i love them so much

! TW for mentions of trauma and mental health !

Okay so I know this might sound bad but in all honesty...I think we need more Crowley angst. I love him dearly and he's one of my favorite characters, he's even my comfort character, and that's exactly why I need to subject him to as much sad as possible. And I don't just mean angst surrounding the fact that he loved Pauline and had to cope with her getting married to Halt, though I do think there's good angst there and that it can be a great thing to explore, it can also be a great factor in the next thing I'm about to say. The angst I mean is like full blown trauma and mental health issues being explored. Like, you can not tell me that Crowley isn't traumatized at least a little bit. He's been through war, has seen countless deaths, has made so many incredibly difficult decisions that almost no one else may have been able to make, has Halt for a best friend- The list can go on. And then there's also the fact that I genuinely don't believe that Crowley just doesn't have mental health issues. That's because I'm pretty sure that he'd have at least some level of PTSD from all the war and stuff, not only that but he'd also have carry all the guilt and stress that his job brings as well.

I think he also has to be like a constant support for many people so that adds on to his stresses too, though I think that could be one of his reasons to live too depending on the situation. I'm sure he does care about them but I don't doubt that it could still weigh on him. I've also noticed that he jokes around and smiles a lot, which is fine, but it could be like a coping mechanism. Or it could also be a way to hide how he's really feeling. It could be absolute hell in his head but he still might never let anyone know, he may not even think of doing such a thing. The reason could be that he's worries about bothering people with his mental health, that he thinks everyone else is in enough pain that he doesn't want to add on with his own, or that he doesn't think he can even be saved at this point, or it could even be for some other undiscovered reason.

Not to mention that I don't think we even know much about his backstory, though I could be missing something and I could be very wrong. But if I'm right that means that we have no idea of the pains he went through when he was younger, and that we can forge a past for him for him to have to suffer through.

I understand that none of this may be canon and I'm not claiming that any of it is, I just want to see more people explore just how much sad a broken and mentally ill Crowley can cause. I understand that we have established traumas to work with like Will's enslavement and Halt's family issues, and I do think they're good to play around with, just to be clear. But I want to see people mess with Crowley a bit more.

Not to mention the different ways that we can play around with it too. Just him having trauma and horrible mental health alone could be bad enough but just imagine him having to suffer through it alone. Or you could imagine how it could be if anyone found out. That could be through him either telling someone or through them finding out in one of the worst ways possible, or through any other way your mind can create.

There are so many possibilities with this in my opinion and I hope I have convinced you at least a little bit with this ramble of mine, though I completely understand if I didn't and I am in no way trying to pressure anyone into creating something they aren't comfortable with. Like I said before, I absolutely love Crowley and believe that he deserves the world so I have no issue reading and seeing him getting that, in fact I'd love to see more of it! But I also can't help but wonder what it would be like to see his world burn to ashes, or worse, to see the people who see him as their world have to watch him slip through their fingertips just because he could save everyone, and yet no one could save him from himself. But I think that's enough of me so I will leave you with one final question: will you join me in exploring just how traumatized Crowley Meratyn can really be?

He sinks into that hug like his celestial life depends on it and clings to her jacket so tightly. It's grounding.

As promised, here’s another snippet from my current WIP, in which the demon Crowley accepts that he actually does need a friend and confides in Nina. And also in which Nina accepts the idea that celestial beings do in fact exist. It took a hundred years just to put these two paragraphs together. I’m still a shy bean.

It’s finally got a title. Memory Reboot.

Disclaimer: It’s not yet beta read. And I have no idea how to write drunken conversations, lol. If anyone has any pointers, please message me.

Crowley glances to his left, rests his head against Nina's and sighs quietly. He can smell the wine on her, mingling with blended scents of coffee, tea and eccles cakes. It's almost overpowering to his serpentine senses, but he doesn't move away. He's feeling lots of things. Things that are much more prominent with the amount of alcohol he's consumed. Anger. Pain. Loss. Heartbreak. Loneliness. He can easily sober up, but he doesn't want to. He wants to suffer through it. Half of him says it's what he deserves, but the other half is telling him he's hurting so much because the love he has for Aziraphale is real. He wants to scream, cry, curse at God, at Satan, at somebody, but, in his drunken stupor, the only thing he ends up doing is rambling brokenly about Aziraphale to Nina.

Nina wraps her arms around Crowley and listens to him talk. She doesn't say much of anything, but he doesn't need her to. He sinks into that hug like his celestial life depends on it and clings to her jacket so tightly. It's grounding. "Six thousand years," he chokes out. "For six thousand years, I've loved him without realizing that's what it is. This is just a body," he hisses. "I shouldn't even be able to feel human emotions. Ngk, he's gone native." He spits the last word out, like it's poisonous before softening his tone. "Other people's love lives always seem so much more straightforward than our own. I'm a demon, and he's just an angel I know. It's not even right, but…" "You want it to be." Nina says it so quietly that he barely hears her. "So, why can't it?"

I just finished your Electric Organisms fic series on ao3 and i just wanted to express some sentiments towards your work "^^

1. The fics are so damn good aaa it infected my brain so much i would regularly tell my best friend all about it even though she doesnt watch star trek

2. The fact you dug up unused scenes and scripts and wrote them into fics is so damn cool!! Also may i ask where you found those?

3. Your character writing is so well done, i was so disappointed they didnt explore Geordis personality more in the show. I love that you went into his family background and mental health properly also I honestly love that he just gets to be happy a lot of the time, the show constantly made him suffer for some reason

4. The drawings are such a nice addition to the fics and theyre sooo well drawn <3

5. The way u handled the Fajo&Borg queen assualt implications was so well written. Im still angry the movies and show basically dropped the whole thing and never went into what it would do to datas mental state

6. The romance was so well written i cant- i dont usually read romance but maaan was i invested in this one <333

Believe me, I'm also surprised how much I've written for this series since I started it in June 2022. I didn't expect a one-shot fic that came from Brent Spiner saying he much rather would've found Geordi instead of Spot in the Enterprise-D wreck to have led to all this.

Your horror movie post inspired me. Please tell me your Top 5 Recommended "Please watch" horror movies.

Hi friend! Thank you so much for this ask, I love talking about horror movies!!

I want to preface this by saying just because I like or recommend a horror film doesn't mean everyone else will like it! Horror is highly subjective, so there may be films on my list that don't appeal to everyone and that's ok :)

Answer is under the cut. I listed them in no particular order, just how they came to my brain as I was answering :)

Warning for murder, cannibalism, general horror things, and possibly also spoilers...(I tried not to give away too many things but I really got excited to talk about the movies so I may have rambled a lot for some of them)

The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - I find this movie fun and interesting on so many levels. There's the character of Hannibal Lecter himself; a psychologist with a refined air to him which is pretty much the exact opposite of what people tend to expect of cannibals in horror films. It's the lovely contrast between his charisma and charm and the horrific act of eating another human. I love that, although Hannibal is a major part of the story, he is not the sole focus. There is another antagonist, Buffalo Bill, and I just find it fascinating that the protagonist of the story is using Hannibal to capture the serial killer. I love the female lead, Clarice Starling, I think she has so much depth and is just so interesting. I absolutely love Anthony Hopkins' performance as Hannibal; he did such a fantastic job and is such an icon. I love so many of his movies. I think he brings a unique charm to Hannibal that makes him seem intriguing and even desirable in the movie. I didn't find this movie so much scary, and I think of it more as a crime/murder mystery than just strictly horror, but it is categorized as horror and it definitely has its moments. 10/10, absolutely recommend people watch it if they enjoy horror and mystery. Also, the ending line of "I'm going to have an old friend for dinner" while mysteriously smiling at a person he hates who is unaware he is watching them? Top Tier Hannibal moment. I know you don't like puns, friend, but I just gotta throw in my appreciation for the cannibal puns and jokes. It's just so funny to me and I love it.

Saw (2004) - I mean, is anyone surprised this is on the list? I love the Saw movies. I rewatch them frequently with one of my best friends and I love reblogging things about them. However, I'd have to say I really really love the first one and if someone was going to ask me just to recommend one, I would recommend that one. Because 1. Saw actually has a plot that connects all the movies so if you don't watch the first one you won't get a lot in the other ones, 2. Saw (2004) is, in my mind, unique even among Saw movies. The majority of the film takes place in one room, the trap itself is pretty simplistic in design, the plot twist doesn't feel overly complicated, and 3. I think everyone needs to see Adam and Lawrence fall in love over the course of a few hours in the dirty murder bathroom. :D But if you want a more "deep" interpretation; I recommend Saw as a series because of the exploration of how far people are willing to go to save their own life even if they'd seemingly given up hope, as well as discussing the way in which John "Jigsaw" Kramer is hiding from himself by claiming he is "helping" people be "reborn", when in reality he is setting them up in traps to die and wants them to suffer and fail. (if anyone is wondering where I get that idea that he wants them to fail, see Saw X, where he imagines the Eye Trap and in his imagination it fails. This is an indication that he doesn't think so much about how he wants people to escape and succeed, but how he wants to see them suffer for causing suffering. He's less about redemption and more about an "eye for an eye". Executioner in denial).

The ABC's of Death 2 (2014) - so the reason I say the second one and not the first is because I haven't watched the first one yet. I just had more access to the sequel. Not that it matters: the whole thing about this movie is that 26 different directors across the world were each given one letter and were to make a horror film in which people die in a way related to a word that starts with their respective letter. There are several reasons I recommend this anthology of 26 short horror films. First, each short is very unique. I watched the entire thing, and there weren't repeating ideas or shorts where I went "this is exactly like the other one"; they were all very different from each other. You get a nice little variety, like a fruit platter but for horror. Second, I think it's incredibly difficult to achieve such unique scares in such short films. The stories are all amazing pieces of art. Third, building off the first point, since there's a variety, even if you don't like one story, they are all only a couple minutes long and with 26 unique stories there will likely be one that you enjoy. I think that can be helpful for people to figure out what they will enjoy or what areas of the genre they might want to explore more. And lastly, my favourite thing about this film is that the directors and film crews and actors are all across the world. You get to see horror through the lenses of different countries and cultures. What one culture finds scary is not always the same as what a different culture finds scary. I find it so fascinating to watch foreign films and see how they introduce terror to the screen and what sort of cultural aspects (local legends, myths, religions, parables, and even just the experiences of living in different landscapes) can influence what different people find terrifying. It can really shine a light in how different and unique people are. If you can see what scares someone, you can ask "why would that be what they're afraid of" and you may develop a better understanding of people and what they've lived through. (also I liked trying to guess the word each film was centred around because it was always revealed after each short)

Ring (1998) - I am going to come right out and say it (not that I haven't said it before, because I'm sure I have) but the original Japanese film is a hundred times better than the American remake(s). If a person is thinking of watching one of them but isn't sure which one, please watch the original. It's just so much better. The scares are subtle and more eerie, and it feels like the tension builds more naturally. That's my opinion, but I was asked for my recommendations so I'm sticking to it :) As for the general story, I really liked that again we have a female lead who is smart and resourceful. I love the dynamics between her and her ex-husband, who helps her with figuring out the mystery surrounding Sadako. I love how determined she is to solve it and save herself, her ex, and her son. I love how far she is willing to go to save her son. I always love exploring how much a mother is willing to do to save her child, and I find an interesting comparison between her relationship with her son and Sadako's relationship with her mother.

Scream (1996) - Gotta have a good ol' slasher on the list. Honestly, I really enjoyed this movie when I first watched it. I liked the mystery of who was behind the killings as well as the plot twist when the murderer was revealed. I remember having a lot of fun watching it with my best friend in high school. It wasn't the kind of scary that made me terrified to go to sleep at night, but it definitely had some good scares in it. I also love horror movies where characters do things like listing the "rules" of horror movies without realizing they're actually in one. Horror buffs within horror movies make my brain do the happy dance. Don't know why. It's just fun. Plus, we love to see a Final Girl kick ass. :D

So, there you have it, my top 5 recs for horror movies. While this may be subject to change as I watch more movies, I think these are all pretty good movies and I like to talk about them and recommend them to people. Hope you enjoyed!

Right bear with me, it's 'A Promise of Infinity' time.

I'm gonna blank out whose is whose in the collage versions below and then reveal them from most blessed to most forbidden under the cut, with maybe some thoughts about the path. Spoiler warning, obviously.

There'll be comparisons to their Main Story result (My post on those is here), their Sequel Story result (My post on those is here), and their Musing On Love result (My post on those is here) where applicable.

This time I'm gonna go back to the way I tried to work rankings out in the sequel post and add these to them and see what the definitive list comes out like.

Plus a major thing I want to cover here is whether MC ended the route as Human or Goddess and whether I agree with it or not.

Right that's way too much rambling, let's get on with it. And by it, I mean way more rambling. 🤣

1. Aigonorus

Position in Main Story: Equal 8th with Karno

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 3rd with Partheno

MC at the end of route is: Human

Agree/Disagree: I think agree (with caveats)

I wonder whether any of you saw this coming? *squishes Aigo tightly like a marshmallow*

Aigo is just soo sweet.

Thinking about it there's two Infinity stories that deal with the idea of the death of MC but this one does it way way better than the other one. Probably because Aigonorus has grown so much.

It's nice that Huedhaut offered to help him prove that he would be alright after MC was gone but geez what a mess. And Hue seems so focussed on making sure it's not affecting MC negatively that Aigo's own suffering isn't fully realised until too late (though I can't fully blame him when Ai kept insisting to MC that it was just Heaven's Rift affecting him and not to bother the others).

I don't recall the becoming a Goddess thing ever coming up at all here but from Aigo's determination to prove to MC that he'd be alright I don't think he would have ever wanted to follow that path. A mention might not have gone amiss though.

Poor Aigo - sleep has actually become a necessity to him and now he can't because of a horrible nightmare. At least it all worked out in the end.

2. Ichthys

Position in Main Story: Equal 1st with Hue

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 7th with Leon, Teorus, and Scorpio

Position in Musings on Love Story: Equal 6th with Hue

MC at the end of route is: Goddess

Agree/Disagree: AGREE

That's more like it! This is more like what I recall my feelings of Ichthys' route being.

But this story my word my heart 😭

Ichthys knows how much her human life means. He enjoys sharing the Earth experience with her. Rather than tell her what is going on he tries to make memories for right now and have a really great time and as per usual ignore what is looming upon him.

He might have been able to pass through the rift without incident if he'd just rested like Zyglavis had told him to but as per usual he didn't want anyone else - least of all MC - to worry about him.

He couldn't even bring himself to even ask MC about becoming a Goddess until right at the last moment. He just isn't that selfish. He doesn't want her friends and family to forget about her.

But of course she does it for him. And finally, finally Ichthys' mortality is no longer a problem.

I'm a little frustrated at him at the very end for implying she was causing problems with her powers already but honestly? That ending is just so Ichthys *hugs him tightly*

(... Please tell me I wasn't the only one wondering whether Ikky was still alive at the end of Scorpio's route...)

=. Partheno

Position in Main Story: Equal 5th with Krioff and Teorus

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 3rd with Aigonorus

MC at the end of the route is: Goddess

Agree/Disagree: I think I agree but... more for the universe's sake than theirs.

So Partheno has gone from equal 5th, to equal 3rd, to equal 2nd? Well his main story may not be the clearest measurement when as I said in his section there I felt more like I was picking what I thought was the right thing to pick than my gut reactions... it wasn't the case with his later stuff.

I like how he hasn't fully realised his Godhood yet and that there is still an unease up in the heavens but that it's not coming from within the departments any more.

He's as perveted as always but he's also really sweet too and I think genuinely so at this point, and it's nice that his power realisation is what helps MC in the end.

MC becoming a Goddess in this route? I dunno... Partheno himself is pretty new to the Heavens and the Heavens are still unsettled. On the other hand when you look at it from a wider view point I can see why the King allowed it as long as he could understand family love. It's like the other Zodiac Gods were worrying - MC keeps him on the right path. She's what keeps him grounded. Who knows what could happen if she ever left him alone. So it kinda seems necessary in this one, much as Partheno himself might have been torn about her doing this.

Partheno would probably rank higher overall as a character for me if there were some slight tweaks to his Main Story. The demon thing I don't have a problem with, but by making him not only a demon but the Dark King's Son, and the one who was actually orchastrating everything in the second prologue events, and wanting to destroy the heavens...

I can't see how MC can really stay with him after that. Making him see he could fit in, that he could have people who care about him, sure, but...

Look. He was upset and alone in a destroyed under realm... he was placed and pretty much abandoned in the Heavens where everyone grew to distrust him and stay away from him.

I do still sympathise with him but I just wish at the very least his plan had been to destroy everything from the start - including the Dark King - rather than to decide to do that near the end on impulse. They put him a little too close to the action. Which is a shame because overall he has a very nice redemption arc and his Promise of Infinity is arguably one of the nicest ones.

=. Teorus

Position in Main Story: Equal 6th with Partheno

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 7th with Ichthys, Leon, and Scorpio

Position in Musings on Love Story: Equal 2nd with Scorpio

MC at the end of this route is: Human

Agree/Disagree: Disagree. Or at tne very least I disagree that it was never discussed.

If Aigo's is a mature look at dealing with death and remembering a passed on loved one, Teo's is the immature look at it. Neither reaction is wrong, it's just...

Look, King of the Heavens, you interfere in other routes, iirc you even offered it to MC in Ichthys' route as a way to make sure he would always be around and you definitely forced her to do it in Scorpio's route cos you wanted to use her to save the Earth, and don't get me started on Hue's route...

Yet here, Teo causes utter chaos by letting go of his grasp on time due to being in such a grieved state about the idea of death. He's clearly never thought about it before. The Earth's in chaos due to the day and night cycles being wrong, and it even messes with time in the heavens...

Why does no one suggest MC become a Goddess in this one? I'm not saying that doing so would have been the correct ending to this - perhaps Teorus needed to come to terms with the idea of death in order to grow as a person - but this was nearly an utter disaster.

And pretending that he's gonna wed his friend? Thinking about it he's lucky he didn't cause turmoil in MC and cause even more problems, considering the adverse affect her mood had on the weather in another route.

5. Tauxolouve

Position in Main Story: Equal 3rd with Zyglavis

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 11th with Krioff

MC at the end of this route is: Human

Agree/Disagree: Agree (with caveats)

Well Lou's back up a bit more to where I would expect (I'm seriously wondering whether I replayed a bit of his sequel and changed the meter a little).

I like how this one plays on his ability to see death, and how determined he is to change it even if it could mean losing himself along the way.

But... he mentions the change to the others (seems either at this point or at some point leading up to it he told the others about his extra power) yet no one suggests MC becoming a Goddess?

Like... I don't think it's the actual answer. As the King himself said, they make a good bridge betwen Heaven and Earth because of Lou being a Demigod. But I can't help but feel that it at least should have been mentioned.

Huedhaut's so sweet in this path. Lou originally doesn't tell him about the broach because it's a forbidden art, but Hue's clearly concerned about his friend.

He's also concerned about the idea of making sure that their love remwins strong enough though, cos he tried to warn MC off taking the other half.

Can you tell why I decided in my latest fic that Hue could also be a part of this relationship without contradicting anything in the storyline?

=. Karno

Position in Main Story: Equal 8th with Aigo and Leon

Position in Sequel Story: 2nd

MC at the end of this route is: Human

Agree/Disagree: Agree, and it's not like they had time to do anything else either!

Oh good grief. I see why quite a few people seem to ship Leon with Karno because sheeeeesh. Way to go way overboard.

Do you think if MC had actually forgotten when you erased part of her memory and got Teo to turn time back a bit that Karno would ever have forgiven you for this?

If you're simply worried about the fact MC's life is finite then tell him that instead of stubbonly acting as though you are as important as they are.

Karno would never agree to MC becoming a Goddess anyway. Especially after playing more sub stories and stuff, Karno's more likely to throw away his Godhood. He seems to actually prefer the Earth. Mind you I'm not that surprised when he has to deal with this kind of thing!

=. Krioff

Position in Main Story: Equal 5th with Partheno and Teo

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 11th with Tauxolouve

MC At the end of this route is: Human

Agree/Disagree: What does it matter? Krioff's Dad can just make her a Goddess later if they really wanted. But they do at least mention the other way - Krioff becoming human and MC wants him to remain the way he is.

I still don't have much to say about the silent but gentle Krioff. I think this is the one route where they didn't even need to mention Goddesses though. MC is likely still a little wary having actually experienced what people forgetting her would be like without even mentally preparing herself, and Krioff is still unsettled by some of the Heavens thinking of him as the God of destruction.

Focussing on his powers in this one rather than anything relationship wise probably made sense - they'd done enough of the former in his sequel. This just isn't the most interesting route.

I will say though, whilst there's not much to back it up anywhere else, I kinda don't mind that Krioff's route introduced a way to raise someome to Godhood other than the King doing it. Maybe there's the potential there for MC to become a Goddess later on in some routes.

8. Zyglavis

Position in Main Story: Equal 3rd with Tauxolouve

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 5th with Hue

Position in Musings On Love Story: Equal 4th with Leon

MC at the end of this is: Human

Agree/Disagree: I'm torn on this one.

Oh Zig. Zig, Zig, Zig. You burying your feelings for what you think is for the good of the balance really causes a mess here. If you had just talked properly (and MC trying to be considerate doesn't help matters much either) you could have avoided yet another trial.

Here's where I'm torn though. Zyglavis is very by the books but is also the one second most likely (after Hue) to do thorough research. Now we know Zig was the last to leave Earth and maybe he doesn't even feel it's his place to ask MC about leaving that behind and becoming a Goddess... but the idea isn't even thought about let alone mentioned at any point - not even in his His POV story.

Yes an Earth marriage was one way around it... though it clearly didn't fufill his desires enough.

That said, Zyglavis' thought process when it comes to MC seems to get a little muddled. He's still battling with himself rather and maybe he really did need this shove from his shadow to realise what he truly wanted.

Overall they probably would have stayed God and Human no matter what happened here, but I do worry with him being Minister of Punishments and the uproar that has already been caused in this path what will happen in the future*.

Still though, he was so crushed when even his loophole of getting married on Earth was getting pulled away from him. Give poor Zig some chocolate ganache.

*: Yes, I know, Hue, it's no more my job to predict the future than it was the courts. Thanks for having their backs. (And Zig? Divulge stuff to Hue more often. You're a good team).

=. Dui

Position in main story: 11th

Position in Sequel Story: 1st

Position in Musings on Love: 1st

MC at the end of this is: Human

Agree/Disagree: Agree. They didn't really have time to discuss anything else. And Dui was hardly going to ask her to abandon her Human life after the first attempt failed.

Yes, I clearly have trouble in the storylines that focus on Shadow Dui, but I think this was the right move here. The idea of him worrying that he's technically two different people to the extent tthat he nearly loses a part of himself entirely...

This just shows how much Shadow Dui cares about the both of them. For his more agressive side he's actually very sweet deep down.

The story might have been very focussed on Dui as a person as opposed to so much their relationship, but it was a nice change of pace for that to be the only focus now that he is more at peace with his friend's death.

10. Scorpio

Position in Main Story: 12th (Forbidden)

Position in Sequel Story: Equal 7th with Ichthys, Leon, and Teorus

Position in Musings on Love: Equal 2nd with Teorus

MC at the end of this route is: A Goddess

Agree/Disagree: Agree but it's not like they had much choice!

The King reaaalllly hates her being wih Scorpio doesn't he? I kinda get the impression he's not happy with Huedhaut linking back up with her either when it was him that caused MCs existence, but here it's more like he's angry that Scorpio has changed. The King is as bad as Leon was in Karno's route, just in a different way.

Fancy implying he'd allow their marriage if she was a Goddess but telljng Scorpio in no uncertain terms what he thought of the idea. Now they're both troubled for different reasons and it's tearing them apart.

It's not just them though. I get why the King did it this way to make sure they had a way to save the Earth without anyone getting into any arguing before it was way too late to come up with a different plan but... my heart... Hue's reaction when he wonders whether it might kill her again 😭

Overall I don't think I'd change anything about Scorpio's Infinity story, it's so intense and action packed. It might actually be one of my favourites.

I wouldn't have minded a little addedum at the end though when MC finally wakes up millenia later. Maybe it's just me but I wanna know how the other Gods are doing.

*MC surrounded by flowers and a relieved Scorpio as she comes round and they have a wonderful emotional reunion.*

Agree/Disagree: Look Leon's just taken the rulebook and ripped it to pieces! There's no agree or disagree here! She still has everything she had before but now she'll never leave him. It's the best of both worlds. But then, as Leon's the King by the end of his route, maybe both worlds are going to change a lot anyway. There's a reason the rift picked him.

Talk about action packed. From the King's attempts to drive him and MC apart, to Leon's trying to protect you from the others backfiring because the thing he summoned to protect MC is the thing MC almost destroys herself with...

And yet... I thrive more for some of his comments about Zyglavis in this one.

Clearly under the King's control because Minister Ponytail would rather drown himself in his own reflecting pool indeed. 🤣

Ahem, more seriously the ending of this one with all the Gods fussing round MC and an actual public ceremony is nice. It doesn't feel as though it cuts off as abruptly as some of the others because of that. (Leon's, Scorpio's, and Partheno's are probably the ones with the most rounded end. They're also the three where she's immortal).

Oh... oh dear. I've got one left to talk about and I'm actually not looking forward to this...

Agree/Disagree: Urrrrrrghhhhhh.... it's not so much agree or disagree but fuck the King. Look I know she has memories of her previous life in this path but that's no reason to do the raising up as erasing her completely and reinstating Clotho.

Poor Hue! He can never catch a break. Seemingly fated to always be together, but always seeming to lurch from one disaster to the next.

I've been thinking on this and I really wish after MC had experienced some time actually as Clotho and saved Hue in the past in his Musings on Love story that it had been made 100% clear then that Hue absolutely sees her as another person. That he cares about her as much as he once did Clotho.

And that once did is the important distinction I'm making here. The King is taking advantage of Hue's sin to get the Goddess of Fate - who should have been lost to save the Earth - back, but in doing so he's making Hue lose the woman he loves. Again. I almost feel like he's still punishing him, and some of the side stories I've played the past few days or so just add to that feeling.

Clotho chose saving the Earth over Hue's love, Hue knows Clotho would do that again in a heartbeat. I'm not convinced he'd even want to be with Clotho anymore even if this transformation had worked.

'You can't be a God because you don't value the life of the Earth over your own' oh screw you, King. I think when I played this I was feeling somewhat uneasy because of the Clotho stuff, and Hue trying to use the rest of his stars yet again but at the time I had no context to how the raising to Goddess worked, so that bit didn't bother me as much...

Until I read Ichthys' story.

Now it's possible the raising of MC as Clotho is somehow the only thing that can happen because she has her memories in this route, but I don't really see why. There's nothing implied that that was the only option.

Also in Hue's Sequel they proved he and MC were stronger together, that by not letting her step through that door alone this time, they saved the world together without harm to each other.

I'm really pissed off at this. The MC should have known Hue didn't want or need Clotho back, but the King should never have damn well done this in the first place.

Musings of Love could have rounded off the past and this could have instead focussed on the future but noo... Clotho just had to be involved again.

... I think I'm beginning to see why so far I've put MC with Zyglavis if it is set after she's married. At this point in Hue's route I feel as distressed as he does!

Hue, you deserve better. I want your sarcastic snark and banter with the MC, I want to see your actual smile...

... And now I'm imaging an AU where he looked into the future and saw the fountain reject their proposal as his Promise of Infinity Story instead. Hmm... I wonder...

Them!! 😭

They are EVERYTHING to me: Okay, so, I've been familiar with Detective Conan for about a decade, yeah? Ten years ago is around the time that I first started watching the anime, and let me tell you: I don't remember caring for Heishin—or even Heiji!—like, at all back then. (The Reveal (Episodes 57-58) was fun, but I wouldn't say my feelings really went much deeper than that.)

But I've been rewatching, and getting way further than I ever got the first time around, and my fictional taste buds must have changed because these two have now absolutely destroyed me. I wrote my very first DCMK meta about them, and, well, I put this together for another post also about them that I've been working on, the intention being to highlight all the Heiji-Shinichi relationship analyses on my Ramblings page in order emphasize my utter infatuation with this duo, and... yeah.

Of all the Detective Conan essays listed here, 17/43 of them concern Heiji and Shinichi to some extent... and since I only update this page periodically, this list doesn't even include my last Heishin post, which would make the count 18/44.

So, nearly 41% of my writing about this series involves discussion on them... and one of these characters is only included in maybe 10% of the story.

They really, truly are so much to me.

They drive me crazy/insane /pos: Clearly! "Miss Mystery," Opening 33, has me screaming, crying, and throwing up with its depiction of their relationship...

And I flipped through the manga version of Episode 174 for the first time recently (Files 225-230), and the way that Conan imagines Heiji's smiling face when he fears that the worst happened to his friend utterly destroyed me (File 228)...

And one of my GIFs (from Episode 277) got passed around some more a bit ago, and I was once again reminded of how gently Heiji places Conan on the ground, how careful he is regardless of the minimal distance, and I once again felt like the pleading face emoji...

And have I mentioned "Conan's Dream Vacation" enough yet?

I could go on and on and on. (And considering that I've, uh, written a whole Heishin masterpost, I guess I kind of already have.)

Relationship goals <3: They've got problems, absolutely, but the way they just... sync? The way they Vibe? #Goals for sure.

They get each other. Immensely. They finish each other's sentences, come to the same conclusions at once—they both serve as a reminder to the other that they're not alone.

It's easy to meme on this panel of Shinichi in the manga (File 520), but it is beyond sweet to me that he's so eager and excited at the notion of someone just like him.

Heiji and Shinichi are genuinely a place of comfort for each other, and that is the definition of "relationship goals."

I need a 30k hurt/comfort fic on my desk by Monday: Detective Conan seems all but entirely disinterested in depicting its heroic men as vulnerable. Heck, if the "Murderer Shinichi Kudo" case (Episodes 521-523) is any indication, there's the message that a person like Shinichi would never do something like cry. He's too "strong" to.

Needless to say, the sentiment leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Relying on others and crying aren't "weak" things but human things, and one of the biggest draws of Heishin—for me, anyway!—is that Heiji and Shinichi do allow themselves to be vulnerable with each other. Shinichi admits to some of the trauma he's suffered in as soon as his third encounter with Heiji (Episodes 77-78); later, he completely opens up about the pain of hiding his identity from Ran, and he even asks Heiji for advice (Episode 189). Heiji, similarly, isn't too afraid to reveal that he cares deeply for Shinichi to Shinichi's face. He easily conveys how haunted he was by a nightmare in which Shinichi dies, with minimal prompting, in Episode 118. In Episode 479, he also lays his insecurity bare in Shinichi's presence and asks if all the criticism and mockery he's received is warranted.

Canon gives us these crumbs. Fanon can take it so much further. Shinichi spilling out details of how scared he is to Heiji, trying desperately not to freak out or cry, all while Heiji tells him that he can cry when he feels like it, just as Shinichi told Ran when they were in preschool (Episode 854). Heiji actually working through his unhealthy tendency to make everything a competition with Shinichi's help and support.

I think the focus of my last Heishin post, about how the nasty attitude Conan gives Heiji on occasion stems from his resentment that he can't be Shinichi when they're together, also lends itself well to hurt/comfort fic. What if Heiji calls out Conan's cold behavior, and he doesn't act like it's a joke or a minor nuisance for once but really communicates that it hurts to be treated like that, and Shinichi reveals the truth? Or what if Shinichi has a moment of self-reflection and regrets his cruelty when Heiji winds up seriously injured or dead on his behalf?

If you throw in potential romantic feelings, other possibilities open up. It kills Shinichi that he can't hold Ran in his arms (FUNimation's English dub for Episode 42), that he can't tell her he loves her with his own voice (Episode 3), but he doesn't think Ran's aware of his predicament. With Ran, Conan can put on an act and lie and pretend like none of his romantic feelings for her exist, and maybe that provides relief.

But Heiji is well aware of Shinichi's predicament. There's no playing a completely separate, unrelated child with Heiji; Heiji's already broken the illusion, and there's no going back to it. When Shinichi's by Heiji's side, he's by someone whom he can be himself around, whom he can't be anything but himself around, and that's got to make the impossibility of a romantic relationship a pain that festers like an open sore. There's no putting a Band-Aid on this one. No separating himself from the situation. No covering up the sting with an invented personality.

Okay, maybe that's more hurt no comfort, but there is so much potential here, I swear! Heiji isn't just the goofy, silly comic relief guy with the Osaka accent, and his relationship with Shinichi deserves more serious exploration and treatment. I think there's especially a lot that could be done with Heiji's jealousy, and—in my eyes, anyway—it stinks that canon plays Heiji's obsession with one-upping Shinichi's confession to Ran as a joke rather than the sad, insecure thing that it comes off to me as.

They're going to be the death of me: I bought a movie guidebook for The Crimson Love Letter, the 21st Conan film, which I haven't even seen yet, purely because I liked the cover art (and included poster) showing Conan and Heiji being unabashedly happy together...

And I am so tempted to get this Heishin mug set...

And I'm looking to add some Treasured Selection Blu-rays to my largely DVD-comprised DetCo collection, and while I don't believe the Treasured Selection Blu-rays for traditionally animated episodes really increase the quality that much, I'm still thinking I'll get #5 because it has The Boys on the cover (and also includes one of my favorite cases, Episodes 277-278)...

And there's also that merch from Carddass...

If nothing else, these two might be the death of my wallet!

(It's maybe also worth noting that I mostly store my DVDs for this series in 6-DVD cases, so only a select few covers are actually displayed. I purposely ordered things in a way to display the majority of the Heiji-and-Conan covers—5 out of the 7 that I own. I'm love them.)

They,,, kimss,, holde handss,,,,: I used to be like, "I don't really ship them; I just like their relationship!" And got, "Sure, Jan" in response.

But heck with it—while it's never, ever my intention to undervalue platonic bonds, I do like romance, and I'm tired of being ashamed of it! Shinichi and Heiji should open up their own detective agency and also kiss and hold hands, yes.

Which can absolutely be platonic, too! I love them either way.
