This might be a jump that I’m only doing in my head, but so often a young girl not looking her age or not ‘acting’ her age is seen as enough of a reason to not treat them as their age. Like when pple say ‘ girls mature faster’ so some 20 year old guy can be ‘dating’ a 16 year old if she is posing on insta looking like a model in her 20s. Or like how a 13 year old black boy will get treated and seen as an adult while a white 13 yro still thought of as a kid.

So I just dunno if saying the show got it wrong from day one cause ‘if Elizabeth looked super young everyone would have understood it’s abuse’ is right. I don’t think Alicia looks her age, and I definitely get a young vibe from her performance. And the show states repeatedly her age and that she’s ‘a child’, if people still see it as a romance just cause they’re not automatically getting the ick watching it, I don’t think that’s really fair.

I get your point that with a younger actress the material would have been tamer, but the show obviously decided it was going to go there with the abuse which is why they didn’t cast someone super young, I don’t think that’s a fault of casting or Alicia, but a decision by the creators. But tbh even if the scenes had been much milder, I wouldn’t have liked to see the ’ ep 2 ‘rooster’ antics if Tom Cullen in his mid 30s was ripping the bed sheets off an 18 year old actress, never mind a younger one. I wouldn’t have been more tuned into Elizabeth’s age and abuse cause I’d be far too preoccupied seeing the actors behind the characters.

So I want to make it very clear since I guess that was opened to being misconstrued, I do not blame Alicia for taking the role and doing her job. It is not Alicia's job to manage the material, ask for rewrites, or do anything other than what she is paid to do, which she is doing. At no point am I blaming Alicia for choices made by the creators and nothing negative I say about the creative decision of the show is meant to be a negative about Alicia. Good? Clear? Great.

As I've said in my post, I haven't watched this show beyond clips. The information I'm getting is information from reviews and history/period drama reviewers I know across social media platforms that I've been engaging with on the subject (and also my mother who is watching the show, is as into the Tudors as I am, and is offering me her takes as she goes along). Take what I say with a grain of salt because I am currently not the audience watching the show (and probably won't be until the first season is finished).

But, all that being said: which is it? Is the show saying that Elizabeth's abuse is being excused by her abuser as her being "mature for her age", the way you mentioned, or is it repeatedly trying to let the audience know that she's "a child", the way you mentioned? And more importantly, my issue isn't about the show "going there" wrt to the abuse and my being upset it's not tame, my issue is that what the show is "going" towards is portraying a man in his forties fucking a fourteen year old in real time, that they're getting away with because they cast actors who have a more similar age gap to Elizabeth and Edward VI than Elizabeth and Thomas Seymour. My issue is that they are using Alicia being a grown woman, and thus not under the purview of things like child pornography laws, to make this as sexy and eroticized and graphic in the worst ways.

Like I said in my OG post, the problem is that the show's apparent mishandling of this abuse (particularly egregious, given how Anya Reiss was really hyping up that they were meant to be handling this sensitively and the end result is........This), combined with Alicia very much looking like an adult woman and not a girl who is meant to be starting this show who's been thirteen for less than half a year, offers ambiguity and thus cover for Seymour for people who aren't well versed in the history and are tuning into this show because they know who Elizabeth is and maybe saw Young Bess back in the day and were curious. They are presenting a scenario where, instead, of seeing someone barely into her teens being abused by a man practically the same age her own mother would have been, they're seeing two adults engaging in a tantalizing push and pull thanks not only to the apparent writing choices, but the choice to have Elizabeth be played by an adult.

On the subject of "I wouldn’t have liked to see the ’ ep 2 ‘rooster’ antics if Tom Cullen in his mid 30s was ripping the bed sheets off an 18 year old actress, never mind a younger one.", yeah, that's kind of my point. No one should be liking anything that's going on, nothing portrayed should be Open To Interpretation, considering how determined they were to hammer into everyone's head in pre-release material that they understood that the Seymour situation was abuse and they were going to sensitively handle it as such. Appropriate casting would have actually helped add to the story they were telling (assuming that's the story they wanted to to tell) by producing visceral shock and disgust and horror in the audience at Elizabeth's treatment at the hands of an adult man. Having it be two adults with the same age gap as my parents cheapens that.

Sorry to talk about GOT again cuz that's a shitshow if I ever saw one but the season 2 throne room scene with Sansa is legit awful to watch, meant to be awful to watch, and emphasizing the point of the scene, that Joffrey is awful and Sansa is in real danger and everyone is too scared of him to intervene save one of our core protagonists Tyrion, enhanced by the fact that Sophie was similar in age to her character (and it was still toned down from its source material due to the actress's age). And there's also things like cuts, filming tricks, editing, the use of body doubles in case things start running the risk, and obviously having appropriate counseling and anything else necessary available to the actress, so that they can avoid breaking the law and avoid causing undo harm to this hypothetical actress while still showcasing the abuse as abuse while having to deal with the fact that they don't get to add in ahistorical graphic sex scenes.

If you think I'm being unfair to Alicia, my apologies, none of these issues are with her and as I said, I think she's a good actress. If you think I'm being unfair to Anya, the rest of the writers, and their casting department (since casting is ultimately up to the creatives), then you are well within your rights to do so. But I am also well within my rights to feel that the casting choices made, compounded by the writing choices made, doesn't sit right with me, causes problems, and ultimately cheapens the tale they've told us they're telling, but failing to actually deliver on because of these factors.

Summary: In which Tommy needs glasses and (Y/N) has an opinion about every type of frame that's offered.

A/N: this was just a fun request to write...I think it’s one of my favorite stories of mine. Oh to be doing domestic things with Tommy Shelby *sigh*. Enjoy! :)

(Y/N) was able to hear the sounds of frustrated mumbling coming from inside Tommy's office as she walked past its slightly ajar door. "Tom?" she questioned as she peered her head in. Squinting her eyes to try to get them to adjust to the dim lighting of the room, she was able to make out that he was sitting at his desk.

"Yes?" he asked as he looked up from his papers, surprise clear on his face. He wasn't expecting her to be at his door.

"Everything ok?" she asked, taking his response as her ok to enter the room. If he hadn't wanted her in there, he would have told her to leave.

"Yes. I, uh..." he paused, his eyes glancing around his desk as he tried to find what he was looking for, "I'm just having a hard time balancing the logs is all," he admitted to her.

(Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows as she walked even further into the room. Once at his desk, she extended her hand and waved her fingers at him, her nonverbal way of asking him for what he was working on. He understood and neatly compiled the papers before handing them over to her. "Doctor said that you shouldn't be overworking yourself like this," she commented as she looked over the work he'd done so far.

"Yeah? Well fuck what the doctor says," Tommy grumbled, focusing himself on lighting a cigarette before he looked at her once more. (Y/N) sighed at his response, knowing that she should've expected something along those lines. But she tried anyway, wanting the best for her husband and his health.

"I think I know what your problem is," she announced after a few minutes had passed.

"What's that?" he inquired, his eyebrows raised.

"Your numbers are wrong," she told him, glancing up in time to see his face fill with confusion.

"That's impossible," Tommy shook his head, not wanting to believe that something like that would be the cause of the error.

"It's what's wrong," (Y/N) insisted as she moved around the desk so that she could be standing right next to his chair. "See, lookit...you've got 119 pounds listed here on the intake and then, for the same day's totals, you've written 109 pounds. You're never going to get the correct numbers if you don't have them consistent everywhere," she explained, glancing over at him before she trained her eyes on the books once more. "Do you have the initial papers you've copied this off of?" she asked then. Tommy nodded his head. "Can I see them?" was her next request. Silently, he grabbed them from his pile and handed them to her. It only took her a few moments to find yet another problem: "these aren't even the correct numbers, Tommy."

"What do you mean?" he questioned, his brows deeply furrowed as he took the paper back from her and then looked between it and the log on his desk.

"What day are you doing the totals for?" she asked him.

"Thursday."

"And what day does that say on the paper?" was her next question.

"Thursday," he responded with confidence, but (Y/N) shook her head.

"That says Tuesday, love," she corrected him before pointing to the paper in his hands, "see? T-U-E-S..."

"I know how to fuckin' spell, alright?" he cut her off with aggrivation in his tone.

"Then why don't you have the days right?" she asked him, not realizing how accusatory her question sounded until she said it.

Tommy inhaled deeply and then exhaled his breath in a long sigh. "It's because the words are blurry," he answered, his voice coming out in a low mumble.

"What's that?" she asked for him to repeat what he'd said.

"I can't tell what's what because the words on the fucking paper are blurry, ok?" he repeated himself, his words stressed and his agitation evident.

"Ok," she nodded, agreeing with him in a soft voice. She wanted to say that she was shocked by his admission, but honestly, she was expecting something like this to happen. He did just come back from his extended hospital stay, where he suffered a cracked skull and internal bleeding around his brain, among other injuries. The fact that he didn’t have many lingering effects or problems from it surprised her greatly.

Tommy sighed again and dropped the paper onto the desk before he ran his hands through his hair. He then dropped his face into his hands as his elbows rested on the desktop. "What am I supposed to do now, eh?" he finally questioned after a few moments of silence had passed. He then looked up at (Y/N) with an expression on his face that gripped at her heart. She'd only seen Tommy Shelby's desperation a handful of times, and a similar reaction was elicited from each.

"Well..." she trailed off as she sucked in a breath and let it out slowly, "I suppose we should take a trip to an optometrist," she suggested.

Tommy nodded silently as he took in what she had to say. It was pretty obvious to him that he needed to seek help with his vision problem. It was impeding on his ability, which in turn made him extremely frustrated. "Ok," he agreed with her, nodding once more, "I know someone who probably has a person he goes to. I can ask him who he'd recommend for me," he then laid out his plan for getting this problem fixed.

"Good. I suggest that you get it done as soon as possible," (Y/N) was happy to hear that he was willing to get some help with this issue.

"I will," he assured her, "but for now, can you help me with these logs so that I can get them finished for tonight?"

She agreed to his request within seconds. "Of course, Tom. I'd be happy to help," she answered with a smile before she managed to drag one of the empty chairs over to his desk so that she could sit and help him finish his work.

"I've got that appointment today," Tommy mentioned as he entered the sitting room (Y/N) was occupying.

"For your eyes?" she asked, even though she already knew the answer.

"Yes," he nodded, chuckling slightly at her obvious intrigue.

"Oh, that's great," (Y/N) said with a smile before an idea came to mind. "Say, can I come with you, Tommy?"

"For what?" he was confused. In his mind, a trip to a doctor's office seemed like a bore.

“Because I want to be there when you pick out your glasses,” a smile formed on her face as she spoke.

“And you’re so sure that I’ll need glasses?” Tommy shot back.

She sent him an ‘are you serious?’ look as an initial response to his question. “I think that was made pretty obvious the other day,” she said in a matter-of-fact tone. Tommy shook his head as he tried to stop the smile from forming on his face. “Can I, Tommy...please?” she asked him again, putting on her best ‘puppy dog pout’.

“Fine,” he agreed to her ask after taking less than a minute to contemplate it. What bad could come out of his wife attending his appointment with him?

(Y/N) jumped off of the couch with a newfound excitement, and she quickly ran into the foyer to ask Mary to grab her coat and purse. Soon enough, she was ready to go, and Tommy had met her outside in the car that he brought around.

Tommy quickly realized that something bad could come from his wife attending his appointment.

“What about these frames, Mrs. Shelby?” the doctor asked as he came in with yet another option to look at. After about the fourth time, he stopped asking Tommy and decided to begin appeasing the woman in the room.

(Y/N) pursed her lips as she examined the thicker-framed glasses that held an oval-shaped lens in the middle. She then held them up to Tommy, who wordlessly tried them on without having to be asked to. She then tapped her chin as she stared at him for a few moments. “I don’t like these either. They’re too bulky,” she finally gave her opinion, her words simultaneously making Tommy sigh and the doctor nod profusely.

“That’s just what I was thinking...I couldn’t see such a stately man wearing lenses like these. I’ll go see what else I have in stock,” the doctor was quick to agree with the woman, and Tommy silently cursed him for egging her on. He then quickly hurried out of the room to get another pair. Soon enough, he was back with more options. This time he held two in his hands. “I brought both sizes of these. Let’s see what you think,” he said as he sat them down on the desk.

(Y/N) grabbed the first pair and looked them over. The frame was thin and gold and it once again held ovalic lenses. “Try these on,” she told Tommy before handing them over to him. Tommy nodded and went through the motions of placing the glasses on his face. Once again, (Y/N) pursed her lips as she took in his appearance. “No...I think they make you look like Scrooge from that one Christmas book,” she gave her opinion on it, her words making Tommy sigh.

“I don’t care about what they look like on me, love, I just need to see,” he finally voiced his exasperation, effectively showing her that his patience was running thin.

“I’m the one who’s gotta look at you though, so I’d at least like to find something that suits you well,” she challenged his statement, her words making him exhale a sigh. He knew that this would be a losing battle for him, so he just kept his mouth shut. “Try these on,” she told him then, raising a pair that looked almost identical to the last up for him to look at. The only thing that had been changed was that the lenses were smaller and circular.

“How are they, Mrs. Shelby?” the doctor then asked after it’d been quiet for a few moments. He was eagerly awaiting her opinion on the frames.

“I like these,” she said, nodding her head slightly before she doubled down on her statement: “yes. These are the ones you should get, Tommy.”

“Finally,” Tommy let out a breath of relief at the fact that the trying-on portion of the appointment was over before he turned to the doctor, “I’ll take these.”

“Very good choice, Mr. Shelby. I’ll have those made in the proper specifications as soon as possible for you,” the doctor nodded his head, a pleased smile on his face. “You’re free to go now,” he then told the couple before he stood from his chair and shook both of their hands.

The rest of the day passed by without further talk of the glasses that Tommy would now be using. It wasn’t until he entered their bedroom for the night that (Y/N) decided to bring them up once more.

“Are you excited about your new glasses?” she asked him from behind her book as he got himself changed into what he’d be wearing to bed.

“What kind of question is that?” he responded with a question of his own, his words holding no malice or condescending tone, “of course I’m excited to be able to read properly again,” he blatantly stated, his vocal tone making (Y/N) giggle.

“No, I mean are you excited about how they look?” she specified her question once her giggles had subsided.

“I honestly don’t care what they look like, love,” he gave her his honest response as he got into his side of the bed, “I just needed to be able to see.”

(Y/N) frowned slightly at the absence of desire he had to talk about the topic. She leaned over and set her book down on the nightstand before looking back at him again. “I think you looked really good with the glasses on,” she stated in a matter-of-fact tone as a grin formed on her lips. “I didn’t think that anyone would be able to make frames like that look attractive, but you certainly did.”

“Yeah?” he asked, certainly amused by her sudden statements.

“Oh yes,” she answered, then rolling onto her side so that she’d be closer to him. “You made all of those frames look attractive, but this pair....this pair is special.”

“Well I’m glad that you think that,” he grinned at her as his arm wrapped around her from underneath, making her move even closer to his chest.

“And just when I thought that you couldn’t get any more perfect...” she trailed off, placing her hand flat against his chest so that she could sit up slightly. Her grin widened as she leaned down so that her face was closer to his, “I can’t wait until you get them delivered so that I get to see them on your handsome face again,” she whispered against his lips before she closed the gap and kissed them.

Tommy only exuded a chuckle in between the kisses she was giving him. He had a quick-witted, cheeky comeback prepared to give her, but it got lost in the feeling of her lips dancing across the skin of his jawline. So he decided to let her keep going, already knowing that her affection towards him would be increasing tenfold the moment that he was wearing those glasses again.

a/n: posting his next as requested !! one of my best friends said "minghao makes me want to believe in scorpio men" and she was so right for that. i have also said that if someone doesn't feel about me the way that "hai cheng" describes, i don't want it. this is my long-winded way of saying minghao is my kryptonite <3 pics not mine !!

like a movie you mentioned on your second date ?? he has watched it several times and can recite most of it from memory but it remains on that list like a souvenir of your first conversations

a coffee drink you said he had to try the next time he went to that one coffee shop in that one neighborhood ?? not only is it on that list, but he also makes notes of what he was doing every time he drank it

this notebook is basically his diary chronicling your relationship it's so beautiful and sentimental and a precious belonging to him <333

he revisits these places or things when he wants to feel close to you :-( there are pieces of you everywhere in his life and he'll never let them go <3

the best listener in the world !!!

... now this, took a minute to answer in some ways. There a lot of ships I like, so this was really easy and hard to answer at the same time. Some ships it was an immediate yep yep and others I had to go '... but is it a fav of all time, though?" But I think I got it narrowed down.

So here we go, fav ships of all time from any media, no particular order. I didn't get any specific no. to do so I'll just list a handful until I can't think of any others. (Anyone who comes across this that sees a ship on here you don't like and feels the need to say something about it, stay in your lane this ain't about your opinions it's about mine.)

The main FMA ships

Arakawa Hiromu, nigga, you cooked. Imma just put the FMA ships as one and leave it there because if I do it separately, we'll be here all day. But if you wanna see me diving into why I like these ships in a manic ramble, here's a post I made on that here. The romance in FMA is literally a category and a discussion all on its own that I can go about on for hours. FMA has the best romances in shounen so anyone who has consumed FMA will know what I'm talking about. Like, whenever anyone tries to use a manga being 'shounen' to justify shitty romantic writing, I point at FMA's brilliant riding. NaruSaku

Toxic shippers, again, stay in your lane, I don't feel like dealing with y'all any day. I have been shipping this shit for years, always have, always will. Ignore the fact I ship Sakura with literally everyone from the Akatsuki to Hinata to Sai to Shikamaru. (Y'all I used to look up Kisame/Sakura fics, unironically TAT). (Same for Naruto honestly, I've shipped him with Sasuke, Ino, Temari, Tenten, the list goes on and on.) The way Sakura goes from finding Naruto annoying to almost dying multiple times to keep him safe, I will never EVER be over that. Naruto's love going from puppy to something as passionately red as the thread of fate itself. The MinaKushi parallels. I have a lot (and I mean a lot) of ships in Naruto pertaining to these two, but NaruSaku is my absolute favorite. Like it was literally confirmed that Sakura got over Sasuke and then it got retconned for some bullshit. Saying it with my whole chest, argue with a wall, it should have been them. I won't dog any other ships, but yeah, it should have been them. 699 chapters of Naruto being in love with one woman, I sing the praises everyday.

SakuHina

Hinata's prince charming is literally Sakura. I have a whole ass fic I am slowly, painstakingly writing about what Naruto would have been like if Hinata had a crush on Sakura the whole time. I just think they're really cute together, have amazing chemistry and balance each other out. I didn't expect to like SakuHina as much as I did but here we are.

Kyoru

I mentioned it before in another answered ask but Fruits Basket was my first manga (if you're curious what my first anime was, it was Yu Yu Hakusho) and Kyoru was probably my first OTP. There are two characters I think upon so many rewatches and rereads that were prime game for who Kyo and Tohru could have ended up with had things been different (which, I do really ship as well. Multishipper here guys) but I'm not mad about the endgames that we got. From start to finish, Kyo and Tohru's relationship is beautiful and you can feel how strongly they feel for one another. It's like, wow, Takaya really gave us one of the best ships in shoujo and didn't even apologize for it.

Klance

Red + Blue = True. They had chemistry, supplemented for what the other lacked and we really don't need to have me diving into the bs that was VLD. That show wasn't even out long, my god, it was a mess.

NeuviFuri

Should I explain to you the romanticism of Hydro x Hydro? Oof how I love them. A Genshin ship after my own heart, truly. But if anyone is trying to against MiHoyoverse (I was here from the Mihoyo days, leave me alone) in terms of seeing who ships NeuviFuri more, we all lose. They literally paid people to do an ice dancing program in NeuviFuri cosplay, paid a guy to make a companion piece to Furina's song from Neuvillette's perspective and several other animations concerning their relationship in some way. But the Mihoyoverse shenanigans aside, it's the build up of 400+ years of working together, the care they still have for one another and yes the complementary abilities and color palettes. Not enough time in the day to talk about them, I don't think.

Almost thought I wouldn't have a gif for them, then I remembered THEY GOT A MOVIE. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is one of my favorite books in the world. I have reread it once a year religiously since 2017 when I first discovered it. This is such a beautiful novel and relationship and if you haven't had the pleasure of reading it or the sequel, please do yourself a favor and buy it or rent it from your local library. It's just, the way Ari has been in love with Dante for so long and didn't even realize it but it's so, so clear to the reader because of just how he talks and describes him? I don't even want to go to deep into this one just in case there's someone here that hasn't read this book because it deserves to be read and experienced blind. Just, just please y'all read it.

am not medical professional, so can tell only abt my experience & experiences that i've heard of in community.

here's diagnostic criteria for did from dsm-5:

two or more distinct identities or personality states are present, each with its own relatively enduring pattern of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the environment and self.

amnesia must occur, defined as gaps in the recall of everyday events, important personal information, and/or traumatic events.

the person must be distressed by the disorder or have trouble functioning in one or more major life areas because of the disorder.

the disturbance is not part of normal cultural or religious practices.

the symptoms cannot be due to the direct physiological effects of a substance (such as blackouts or chaotic behavior during alcohol intoxication) or a general medical condition (such as complex partial seizures).

1st criteria describes alters, 2nd criteria describes amnesia. 3-5 criteria are general criteria for any disorder (it's distressing, it isn't normal part of development / culture, it isn't caused by something else). so i'll try to describe how you can feel things in these criteria (& some other things you may feel when have did).

alters ("other people" in your body / mind)

here's some ways people can feel alters' presence & communication with them:

voices in your mind / thoughts that seem don't belong to you. some people hear their alters like voices. personally i don't. i feel like some thoughts are not mine as alter, but they feel like mine as a system. like. it's not my thoughts, but they came from inside me.

sudden emotions or urges that seem unrelated with events & your thoughts & feelings. they seem not yours / not in your character.

changes in your behavior, self-image, identities (like name, pronouns, gender identity, orientation, etc.), priorities, values, opinions, maturity, etc. you may notice these changes happen in specific situations (for example, when you need to protect yourself, you may feel your other unrelated identities change).

changes in small daily things like handwriting, speech manners, gestures, body language, etc.

feeling like someone else controls your body, & you're just a passenger.

feeling like someone else controls parts of your body.

innerworld / headspace — imaginary space where you can see alters & communicate with them (it's visual communication). not every system has innerworld & you may have access to it not always.

some of your actions seem "out of character" when you remember them.

this list isn't exhaustive.

amnesia (memory loss / lack)

there are some terms for describing amnesia. blackout means a complete loss of memory abt an event. greyout means a partial loss / lack of memory.

some examples of experiencing amnesia:

someone tells you abt event you have participated in / things you have done, but you don't remember it.

someone recognizes you, but you don't recognize them.

you tell someone something & they say you have already told them, but you don't remember it.

you find notes that you don't remember doing.

you find notes that describe events you don't remember.

you find other signs of events you don't remember (purple links that you don't remember clicking, have your work done but don't remember doing it, things that you don't remember getting, etc.)

you only remember that event happened, but nothing more (for example, you remember you were at a meeting, but don't remember what happened in the meeting).

you remember only key points abt event, but can't recall any details.

you remember only part of memory (for example, you can recall visual information, but not sounds, smells, etc.)

your memories are blurred, you struggle to recall them & feel extremely detached

you don't remember abt something until are asked abt it. then memories suddenly pop up in your head.

you may forget your amnesia! events may look logical & complete, you may have no idea that you forgot something (i have this shit). some examples of forgetting amnesia:

events seem consistent at first sight, but when you try to track everything, you find out that some pieces are missed.

you are sure that you remember everything abt event, but when you try to recall, understand that you can't.

this list isn't exhaustive too.

other dissociative & ptsd symptoms

because did is dissociative disorder caused by trauma, people with did experience other dissociative & ptsd symptoms (here's some overlaps with feeling alters because alters are dissociative thing too).

feeling like the world isn't real, like you are in the game / movie / cartoon / book. (derealisation)

feeling like objects are too big or too small, like sounds are too quiet, etc. (derealisation)

feeling like you look on the world through the glass.

feeling like your body doesn't belong to you. problems with mirrors, problems with seeing your body, etc. (depersonalization)

feeling like your life doesn't belong to you.

feeling detached from your emotions, experiences, some events, etc. (dissociation)

feeling like you don't have a personality, like you don't live, don't exist. (dissociation)

flashbacks: vivid memories abt traumatic events. they may mix with reality, may really drag your attention into them, it may be hard to redirect attention from them, etc. (ptsd)

emotional flashbacks: emotional reaction connected with events in the past, & not with current situation. for example, you have argument with someone & get scared or defensive when they don't threaten you because the situation remembers you abt traumatic events. (ptsd)

nightmares: dreams connected with traumatic events. they may repeat traumatic scenarios or deconstruct them. for example, people may act differently, but the whole scenario is connected with your trauma. (ptsd)

hypervigilancy: waiting of danger from everyone, search of threats in the environment, anxiety & stress responses, etc. (ptsd)

tension in your body. (ptsd)

difficulties with executive function, learning, work, rest. (all of it)

feeling lost. (all of it)

this list isn't exhaustive too.

kinda conclusion

as i have said, these traits are neither exhaustive nor required. it's some experiences that i can recall. people with did may have part of them, may have something else, may describe it differently, etc.

also there are several disorders under cdd umbrella. osdd-1 (nowadays, it's kinda community term because dsm-5 doesn't distinguish subtypes of osdd, but it's still useful) describes disorder when 1st or 2nd criteria for did doesn't fit. osdd-1a describes situation when you have amnesia, but your alters are not so different & fully-formed (they described as "different versions of oneself"). osdd-1b describes situation when you have different & fully-formed alters, but don't have amnesia. pdid (partial did) describes situation when one alter dominates & fronts almost always except traumatic / triggering / stressful events. cdid (complex did) aka polyfragmented did is a subtype of did where system have complex structure, low splitting tolerance (split often & easily), often split several alters at the time, have a lot of fragments (not fully-formed alters).

also you may notice that most of these experiences may present in other disorders or even be normal part of life for some degree. for example, neurotypicals may change they behavior depending on situation, but these changes are not so deep as when alters switch (for example, neurotypicals usually don't change their gender identity, values & priorities depend on mood & situation). lack of feeling self & dissociation may be part of (c)ptsd or personality disorders. voices may be part of psychotic episode (although psychotic voices are usually described differently from feeling alters, but it's individual & may be mistaken). so it's important to look at the whole picture & check what explanation fits better.

These days, everything just feels like a loop. Invitations, invitations and more invitations for parties, fashion shows and work. You felt full of it. You wake up and have to go straight to some meeting, you wake up and have to go somewhere, just to stare at people talking, you wake up...and you have people peppering you with questions and asking you to step on them. Not that you hate your fans, but you're just tired. You need some time. You are overloaded.

Sitting at one of the tables, not far from the stage, watching another fashion show that you were invited to and had to attend, because your husband is obsessed with money and knows that the source of all this is you. You let out a sigh, hoping this will be over soon. With the way you are barely able to concentrate on the show in front of you right now, you know this day is going to be unbearably long.

After trying and failing miserably to pay attention to the presenter on the stage, you decide to give up. You've given yourself a good forty minutes of trying, but your interest in what’s going on is non-existent and you're more than convinced that if you need whatever he's presenting, chances are it's already in the package you got.

What you still don't know is how you're going to spend the rest of your time. Not wanting to be too disrespectful by using your cell phone mid-presentation, you grab your not-so-big bag and pull out a blank piece of paper and a pen just to do some random doodling. Aimless. But sadly, drawing eyes or hands are no longer on your to-do list. But even so, you continue to draw, your eyes almost closing from sleep. A few minutes go by and you're just getting even more bored. Somehow while drawing you can’t shake the feeling of someone watching you. This is starting to make you uncomfortable. With a spunk of curiosity you lift your head to look around, trying not to be too obvious for everyone to notice. You can the other tables in the room, trying to discover the source of the sensation. When you finally achieve what you've been unknowingly looking for, you feel your breath hitch at the sight. All you find is a woman watching you like you’re a piece of art.

And in your opinion, this woman could be a painting that came to life. As you stare at the woman, you can tell that she could be the most beautiful woman in the world. Her medium blonde hair with curls like a tangle of beauty. An invitation to affection, the strands making small curves, like a smile. Unlike you,who’s pretty much just awkward, the rest of her is something like everything that could be described as something indescribable, the picture of professionalism. The delicate white skin that you would love to touch with your kindness, the lips of blood that boil not for heat but for love, the crystalline eyes, so deep that they carry more stories than a book can tell. It's the color of someone who carries something more than windows of the soul on her face; it's brute strength, beautiful and affectionate. That pulls your eyes to hers The irises of her eyes being the true art-stained space. Eyes you find hard to look away from.

Still sitting and looking at the woman, you can tell she noticed the red in your cheeks, shoulders and collarbone. Just like her, after being caught looking. But she doesn't look away, being unflinching with her eye contact. Her focus makes you even more flushed and confused, which makes you feel that the look isn't for you. After scanning the room thoroughly for the second time. You're sure the looks is for you, and it makes you cringe a little. Meeting her eyes again, you see that she smiles a little wider as she sees that you finally understand that she is looking at you.

But the universe might not want you to have a distraction or something. The man on stage calls your name, grabbing your attention. He’s talking about the models and the shows. Congratulations to you, since You helped with this. But now, really? The man continues, trying to keep your attention.

Try as you might, you can't break free of the woman's gaze. Smiling gently at the man, the rest of the adults and your husband standing around, you can't help, but steal some looks in the woman's direction. It's like you're stuck like this. And sometimes you can catch her looking and it's emotional, leaving warm little goofy smiles when you catch her looking. It's more exciting to know that she's interested in you and the game you've played with her. When everyone was up for the treats you got out of your chair so fast, you almost fell. You noticed the woman laughing and you're not sure how, but you somehow heard it. You just want her with now, because the sound was the most divine thing you ever heard.

"Are you well?"

Your husband asked, a small tone of false concern in his voice. You just wave chim away. Not much dialogue, just looking for the woman in the crowd. Your interest in her just grows, you want to go to her. But you’re failing. So you decide to go ask your close friends about this woman. Whispering to the not so short woman to your left you ask: *f/n = friend name*

"f/n do you know who this woman is?"

"Which one?"

"That one. Medium blonde hair, red lips, tall and pink dress."

You gesture vaguely in the direction of the mystery woman, not wanting to be too obvious.

"Oh, her. Her name is Gwendoline Christie, an actress who works with Tim Burton."

"Oh okay. Thanks."

"Why the question? Don't say something is going on."

Your friend whispers questioningly, with a rather interesting face and a sly smile. You just shrug your shoulders and curse under your breath. Going back to looking at the woman, she looks like she is not noticing you, she's talking to a man with glasses. They look really close. You blink with a frown on your face but try not to care too much and just walk over to the treats. Flirting certainly made the time pass faster than expected, but it also does something else. It made your heart beat faster in anticipation. What you have no idea. And hope to feel that, again. Take a moment to consider her thoughtfully, looking unobviously in your direction, for which you are more than grateful.

Hello, hope you're having a pleasant day!

I've been meaning to ask you for a bit of professional jonsa opinion for a pretty long time about this little theory of mine - could that be a thing or am I being delusional jonsa (as I always do).

So in SoS, Sansa IV there is this moment in her period dream where she calls for people who could possibly protect her, her father and brothers are among this list. And it's seems like a normal thing to do - to call for her family - but, but, but, BUT! - she never calls for her mother. She never calls for arya. She calls for people (and Lady) who could theoretically actively protect her as she thinks (Dontos and Loras are here too)- so people are not there by default, her subconscious actively chooses people to call for.

And that raises one teeny tiny question. Why would she then be calling for Bran and Rikon? I can't imagine that Sansa who is old enough to see them as little boys crying in their cribs just a couple of years earlier would think of them as said brothers who can protect her/save her. Robb is understandable choice - but then who would be this at least one other brother?

So yeah, I've convinced myself that when she calls for her brothers to help she means Robb and Jon. Like, you know, all those hidden times characters think of other characters without "thinking" of them (I'm looking at you, Jon, with your little "willowy creature" and "sight so lovely" comments). Because it would be actually understandable thing - she may not be very close with boys in their childhood, but she would probably see them training or playing together or whatever noble boys do being boys. It would be enough for her to see them both as "strong brothers who could protect her in case of something bad happens" - consciously or subconsciously.

What do you think? Is it too far fetched? May be it's been discussed and I'm just unaware? I just wish we could have the level of "thinking but not actually thinking" from Sansa as we do with Jon.

You know, I think you may be onto something because she is calling out to people who are in that "hero" role for her, it isn’t simply who she is close to (cuz you’re right, she doesn't call for her mother) and considering how she thinks of Bran and Rickon around that same time, it doesn't really fit her perception of them to think they're the ones she calls for?

"Sansa, did you hear? I'm to ride in the tourney today. Mother said I could." Tommen was all of eight. He reminded her of her own little brother, Bran. They were of an age. Bran was back at Winterfell, a cripple, yet safe. Sansa would have given anything to be with him. (ACOK, Sansa I) By now Arya was safe back in Winterfell, dancing and sewing, playing with Bran and baby Rickon,(ACOK, Sansa II)

As young as Robb is, she does view him as a hero who might avenge her as far back as AGOT,

After my name day feast, I'm going to raise a host and kill your brother myself. That's what I'll give you, Lady Sansa. Your brother's head." A kind of madness took over her then, and she heard herself say, "Maybe my brother will give me your head." (AGOT, Sansa VI)

and while we don't have a similar thought of Jon, we have good reason to think he might lurk as a hero figure too, considering how she romanticizes knights and thinks of the Watch:

In the songs, they were called the black knights of the Wall. (AGOT, Sansa III)

And, Jon is listed among her siblings in her next chapter, so he is in that "brother" grouping at this point in the story:

She sang for mercy, for the living and the dead alike, for Bran and Rickon and Robb, for her sister Arya and her bastard brother Jon Snow, away off on the Wall. (ACOK, Sansa V)

There's more of a distinction later, Jonsas have suggested Martin intentionally aims to create distance between her and Jon in ASOS where she seems to forget him:

But she had not forgotten his words, either. The heir to Winterfell, she would think as she lay abed at night. It's your claim they mean to wed. Sansa had grown up with three brothers. She never thought to have a claim, but with Bran and Rickon dead . . . It doesn't matter, there's still Robb, he's a man grown now, and soon he'll wed and have a son. (ASOS, Sansa II)

That exclusion might just be because she's thinking of who has a claim? It certainly heightens the "alone in the world" feeling she has in ASOS and AFFC until our favorite moment,

Oh, and the Night's Watch has a boy commander, some bastard son of Eddard Stark's." "Jon Snow?" she blurted out, surprised. "Snow? Yes, it would be Snow, I suppose." She had not thought of Jon in ages. He was only her half brother, but still . . . with Robb and Bran and Rickon dead, Jon Snow was the only brother that remained to her. I am a bastard too now, just like him. Oh, it would be so sweet, to see him once again. But of course that could never be. Alayne Stone had no brothers, baseborn or otherwise. (AFFC, Alayne II)

Where he returns to being "brother." So no, I don't think this is far fetched at all, especially when Martin has designated Jon as her hero, a fun twist we don't get until ADWD and will truly play out in TWOW, so it makes sense to me that he wouldn't name Jon (to kinda, preserve the element of surprise), but that upon their reunion we will see that even though Jon and Sansa aren't close and Sansa will have this curious, brother and yet not quite, view of him, it's a positive light in which she sees him, a heroic light.

Outwardly, isn't phased and honestly doesn't care what your profession is as long as you're safe. Inside, he can't help but imagine what you might look like in your work outfit or the things you say and do. It makes him blush a little. Maybe he'll stop in sometime? Maybe.

Majima Goro

This man has two modes and two modes only. He's either super cutesy about the whole thing, sometimes even greeting you with a phrase you might say at work in a cutesy voice, or he's very protective, saying things like "Tell me if a guy creeps on ya at work, okay?".

Saejima Taiga

For the most part, he just thinks it's really cute. Also probably one of the only guys to ask how your job ACTUALLY works. Like do you come up with the cute phrases yourself or is there a script? Things like that.

Akiyama Shun

Most likely of all the boys to actually visit your work just to get the adorable special treatment from you. Knows how your job works and will gift you little accessories to wear to work. He secretly think it's really hot.

Tanimura Masayoshi

Kind of surprised but not bothered by it. It's just not a job he would've really put at the top of his list of guesses as to what you or anyone would do for a living. Likes to stop in on rare occassions to share an adorable dessert with you.

Ryuji Goda

As long as you like the job, he's content. He just wants you to know he could easily financially support you and that you don't have to strain yourself to work if you don't want to. Silently cheering you on. In his heart, you are the number 1 maid at the maid cafe and anyone who tells him different can chew on his fist in their face for all he cares.

Nishikiyama Akira

Secretly a little jealous and he hopes customers don't get the wrong idea or try to get too close to you. He tries to work through it himself as he doesn't want to make you feel bad. Might be a little physically clingier than normal, like walking around with his arm around your waist more often.

Daigo Dojima

Similar mindset as Ryuji. He just wants you to be happy and to know that financially you're both quite secure. He does secretly think the outfits look very adorable on you. He won't ever say it though, he just avoids eye contact with you every time he sees you in a new outfit.

Mine Yoshitaka

Actually probably totally gets off on the idea, more so than Akiyama even. He'll definitely visit you at work at least once just to get a feel for it. Of course, he'd much rather it be just the two of you at home.

Tatsuo Shinada

Also sort of the jealous type like Nishiki, although he might actually say something about it. Not necesarily in a way to make you feel bad or that even needs something to be done, he just wants to get the thoughts off his chest and in the open. Totally supportive though, says things like "Knock 'em dead!" a lot when you leave for work.

Ichiban Kasuga

He turns red as a tomato every time your work comes up. Poor man can't help himself, he just thinks it's so adorable! He'll totally help you practice your cute phrases at home. Ichiban can get very into the spirit of things, but for the most part it's not sexual. He just thinks it's that cute!

Tianyou Zhao

Honestly neutral, even more so than Kiryu to an extent. Wants you to do well and hopes no one tries anything that makes you uncomfortable. Packs you work lunchboxes before each shift you have, sometimes with little cute notes inside.

Joon-Gi Han

Probably has the most of an opinion about which accessories go with which outfit. Lots of times he'll be outside and be like "Ah, those shoes would be good... I should get them" and most of the time he's almost scarily spot on with his taste for your work clothes. Seldom stops by your work but when he does, he usually brings you a gift.

• Honestly? Daisuke doesn't care much about looks. All he worries about is your physical and mental health. And if you're happy then he's happy!

You and he had always been more than friends bur not in an established relationship and someone tries to flirt with you after finding that you're not 'technically' seeing anyone- jealous viktor??

For as long as he could remember, you and Viktor had been close. Even as children, you’d appeared in his life one day and dug your heels in: you encouraged him in everything he did, stood up for him when he felt like nothing, made him laugh when he was unhappy and, when you couldn’t get him to laugh, you were his shoulder to cry on and his ear to talk to. Hell, he even listed you as his Partner on his school documents, so he wouldn’t have to leave you behind when he became a student at Piltover’s academy. You were his friend, yes, but your relationship far exceeded that - you were soulmates in his opinion, if such a thing even existed.

But you were also platonic, in every sense of the word; you knew this, Viktor knew this. Even if your lives revolved around each other -and HexTech, of course- you were just friends. You’d tried on multiple occasions to set him up on dates, first with women, and then with men when he seemed nonreciprocal to your endeavors: but each outing had ended the same way - with a mutual agreement that a relationship wouldn’t work, and no plans to meet up again. And always you would ask him why he wasn’t putting effort in, assuring him that if he just wasn’t into dating then it was totally fine, because not everyone feels that kind of attraction. He -perhaps stupidly- had agreed with you. I’m just not interested in other people, he’d told you, and had nodded your pretty head and agreed to drop the matter.

What he didn’t anticipate was how drastically you would misinterpret his words. Ever since he’d lied to you about not wanting to date anyone, you’d been distant; missing dinners with him, rescheduling your study sessions, canceling outings. So much so, that it was nothing short of a miracle he’d managed to get you to come to this stuffy little party: full of rich sponsors he and Jayce were supposed to impress, and non-negotiable in terms of his attendance. But at least you had come, dressed impeccably in navy velvet, and were keeping him company.

Or you would have been, if you weren’t letting some complete snob slide their arm around your waist. It was none of his business, but he couldn’t shake the way it made him sick to his stomach - seeing someone else’s hands on you. Is that where you’d been the past couple weeks? Going out on dates, or to parties, meeting people and getting close with them? You don’t belong to me, he reminds himself, even as he makes his way over and coolly dismisses the person at your side; even as you shoot him a glare and quietly ask him what the fuck was that, Viktor? “What indeed?” he replies, wrapping his arm around your waist and pulling you close. “You’re mine, miláček,” he says faintly, against the shell of your ear, “and you have been ignoring me for weeks.” You frown up at him, and tell him softly that you weren’t ignoring him, and that you just wanted to give him space, since he wasn’t interested in being around you. It takes him a couple seconds to remember the conversation you’re referencing, but when it dawns on him, he squeezes you further into his side. “I said I was not inclined to other people, dear, but us?” he presses a kiss to your temple, “You are the only person I have ever been interested in.”

What is your worst IE headcannons?

I may be too out-of-touch from the fandom to know what people would consider bad and worst but I do have some that others may have an issue with! AND I WAS JUST ABOUT TO ASK YOU ABOUT HEADCANONS TOO, BUT YOU GOT ME FIRST! AND I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW YOURS VERY MUCH!! (although I haven't watched most of ares and orion so i may not understand some for now, I would love to hear them still!!)

This ended up a long post, I'm making this cut...

I'll start with a tame one (may also be really boring), but this one needs my other hcs for anyone to understand the actual one I want to share. Here's a "brief" list of the others (happened between og series and inago):

Gouenji has unparallel knowledge of ALL Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, and Ghibli movies and will defend the female characters with his life. (This is why I thought he probably knows MLP as I said on the last ask)

He's not a fan of social media and does not use anything outside of inalink and private messaging. Not bcs he's cool, he just doesn't understand them. Much like in honosuto with the laptop, initially with inatube, and him always forgetting his useless phone.

Yuuka convinced him to make an inatter (twitter) and inagram account bcs she does not want anyone to steal the @ and that she also wants to be able to tag him on her posts (and of his teammates/friends) so they can keep the memories. He saves all the pictures he gets tagged in and sometimes prints them out to keep in an album he designed (he's very good w crafts). I still can't believe honosuto came up with those social media names (except for inagram)

He only cared about the bare minimum use of social media so he only ever retweets in inatter (never made his own tweet ever; but he does reply on some that addresses him) and only posts his creations on inagram with no caption or a few words about what he made (made takoyaki, felted a bunny, crocheted a penguin, made cupcakes, etc.).

He only has three kinds of inatter rts: about soccer, about making art, and tweets of his friends and family. Yuuka made his bio in both of them. He also became good at taking pictures of his creations thanks to Yuuka.

However, he is mildly updated with internet language bcs that's all he hears from his sister and her friends and from his own friends in the group chat that he only talks in when he's mentioned. He assimilated most of the phrases they use in chats.

Having said all this, he almost has no social media presence. You're lucky to see his page updated after two weeks. He doesn't reply with strangers either unless it's a kid who loves or interested in soccer.

He also doesn't share much in interviews. Very bare minimum of answering questions and always answers in short sentences and just poses for the camera shortly before he bounces. His favorite answer to questions is "oh that's private" not bcs it's private but bcs he doesn't want to talk that long unless youre asking him about his opinion on human rights-- something that his agent and/or soccer club prevented the press from ever asking him again (an hc drop another time). But anyway, he always had strong opinions and doesnt hold back in expressing them (og series and inago) and that's trouble for the club sponsors so they make a lot of effort on stopping anybody from having the opportunity of asking him anything outside of his personal and athlete life.

And the last context here is that Gouenji is autistic, but we already know that.

Okay so now time for the actual bad HC I want to share... which is how Gouenji came out as bisexual to the public

This started with an inatter thread of a person criticizing Anna (Frozen) for her actions in the first movie that reached Gouenji's timeline. Gouenji answers with 7 tweets worth of respectful paragraph of why Anna shouldn't be criticized bcs of how she was brought up, bcs of her isolation, and bcs of her grief, etc. So, everybody lost their mind, etc etc. AND NOW, at the midst of all this, a soccer fan asked him the question below that he answered without thinking much about:

This blew up and his notifications gets flooded with questions about his sexuality and questionable taste that he really didn't mind answering if it wasn't blowing up his phone.

He was out with everyone in his circle that he forgot the world didn't know he's bi. So, he fixed that by tweeting "yes, im bisexual" on his timeline. He logs out and then decided to wait a few months before logging in again.

This didn't sound as fun as I amped it up to be but I think it's a terribly bland HC that I find kind of funny

First impression

I actually have a screenshot of me, last january, going I think Hal would be cool but I've never read anything with him in it. Uhhh I did use to think he's scared of the bats which eww.

How can I put him down to a single sentence? A single paragraph? He's literally everything to me. He's so complex. He's insecure, he's suicidal as hell. He's flawed, he hates himself and he makes that other people's problem, he takes so much onto himself, he wants to be the shinning knight of the stories, he's inspired by old tales of knights and fair damsels and good and bad and black and white. He thinks himself as right and those who disagree with him as wrong and i just love him.

Favorite moment

It's like telling me to pick a favorite child. You're talking to someone who has a 200 issue long hal rec list, but I want to do a more neglected moment beyond the popular issues like emerald twilight and gl 0.

I would have to say Spectre #23, I love the dynamic between Sinestro and Hal there and the way it harkens back to older comics and how it can make later comics make so much sense???? Hal always reaching out to Sinestro, despite Sinestro not wanting his help. It's such a good way of showing Hal's character of reaching out to those he once trusted even once they betrayed his trust!

Another favorite of mine is action comics #615? I want to say. It's after the Hal gains his ability to feel fear back arc, but only directly. He's barely able to fly he's so unused to feeling fear, but he has to. He has to because there's someone on a ledge about to jump, and he's able to work through his fear just because he wants to help someone else, and that's who Hal Jordan is to me. Someone who deeply, deeply wants to help others, even at the expense of himself.

Idea for a story

Hmmm, I want to do one I haven't talked about here so none of my fifteen million different Parallax wips.

I haven't really thought it out much beyond oooh wouldn't it be fucked up if this the guardians did this, but we know from silver age comics that the guardians can see the future, and we know from all comics that the guardians are controlling bastards, so what if in an attempt to be even more controlling than usual, the guardians kinda um kidnapped younger gls, once whatever that happened to put them on their track had happened.

The original idea focuses mostly on Hal and John years and years afterwards, trying to rebuild the lives taken from them. They don't really remember their names from before, they're trying to find their family, trying to find out who they would be if they weren't green lanterns, if the guardians hadn't taken them, and the scene floating in my mind is Hal, Jack, and Jim reuniting. Hal's been missing since he was 10 years old, and none of them know how to react.

Also I want a fic where Hal and Jess compare their experiences with possession but I don't want to write it myself so I'm stuck there.

Unpopular opinion

oh god so I'm like blocked by like half of Hal blogs for some reason???? I honestly don't really know why, it's like half of them are my mutuals and half have me blocked :(.

okay my biggest one in the circles I'm in is that I feel like the parallax recon could be done well. Geoff was a little coward with it, but if tweaked slightly, relying on the amount of inconsistencies even within issues that Geoff wrote, let alone the amount of different writers tackling it, it could be fixed. (Like both Hal and the space bug say they don't know what stuff Hal did versus the space bug, and Hal says he murdered the green lantern corps before becoming parallax multiple times).

Also I have fun with Hal and pals. It's not the best comic (especially at the beginning with Soranik) but the last 20 or so issues are enjoyable and I've read everything 30 on multiple times.

Favorite relationship

See the favorite child comment above. Okay, so my top three romantic relationships are Hal and Carol, Hal and Sinestro, and Hal and Ollie. I discussed Halcarol in the carol post so I'll focus on the other two. Hal and Sinestro...Hal and Sinestro like actually make me fucking insane. Its the homoeroticism of killing someone while calling them your best friend, your best enemy. It's about being so similar that you hate and love someone at the same time, its about wanting them by your side, no matter the cost, but it can never truly work, they'll never truly be on the same side again. But, but, but, the tragedy of all this is that they'll always be friends, that they're the same underneath the skin (cries).

Hal and Ollie are opposites who want the same thing, in comparison to hal and sinestro who are very similar but want different things. Halollie to me is about nostalgia and rose tinted glasses and a past you can't go back to, a truck you pulled out of the river but its never the same, they're not the same. Plus they also have the whole murdering each other and resurrection thing going on and I have well demonstrated my love for a good murdering each other story.

Platonically? oh god. I love Hal and Kilowog and then i love Hal and John. Hal and Kilowog are so...like they also have the murdering thing going on. Like issue 40 of gl 2011???? Its complete insanity. The devotion the two of them have towards the green lantern corps??? also the scene in gls where Hal goes I would have done the same for Kilowog to Simon who had let jess go free??? I love the little mentions like that.

Hal and John are so interesting because Hal is an absolute shit friend and sector partner to John and John says that explicitly in story and still forgives Hal anyways, still says he loves him, still says they're best friends. Like my brain is mostly spitting out !!!!!!! for them but its a very excited !!!!!.

Favorite headcanon

Undiagnosed adhd Hal for the win! Like he suffers for it too, his relationship with his dad shows a lot of his dad doesn't understand him and doesn't want to. He can't focus, he can't stay still, he can't keep his feet on the ground and his head out of the clouds. It's just very much something I project on him based on canon evidence.

Okay I actually did this last because I have a lot of sad headcanons? But um, I really like the idea of Hal and John having a lot of inside jokes. They will reference random things during jl meetings and sometimes they're true sometimes they're not. The justice league sure doesn't know.

His father's jacket was destroyed in Coast City along with all of his stuff. The one he has now is one made out of his memories, which is why its different than before post emerald twilight.

Also I have a headcanon where he gets invited to do a speech at the 10 year anniversary of Coast City's destruction. He cries during it.

He's using his ring to cover up his gray streaks. They never really went away, Parallax wouldn't let him go that freely, but he covers them up because he's too scared to see everyone else's reaction.

I don't do a lot of headcanons to spite canon? Like I genuinely think that canon is fun and something we should work with. The closest I got is my joke that current gl hal is the ring suppressing his emotions again because that ain't my hal.

a headcanon about their family

I have so many. oh god one of the biggest I would say would be that Jack and Hal were specifically pitted against each other. We see this sometimes, with in a few flashbacks Martin saying why aren't you more like Jack, but I would like to see more of it. Hal hates Jack because he was the perfect one and then he went to college and Hal and Jim were left behind in the suffocating house.

In my head, Jim was very young when Martin died and does not remember him, and Jack was almost in college already and he left, leaving Hal to really baby Jim. He saw Jim as his responsibility, his little brother to protect, which is why he still calls him his kid brother, even when Jim has two kids of his own.

Also Jim really looks up to Hal which is basically canon. I mean he counts down the hours in between Hal leaving and returning and his security password is Hal's birthday.

He and Jim used to go to baseball games together, sneaking into the coast city angels baseball field. He always thinks of Jim when making his baseball construct.

a post-canon headcanon

hmmmm. My biggest one is that due to the amount of ridiculous bullshit that he dies and comes back from, he's functionally immortal. He physically can't die. He's stuck here forever, even after all those he loves are dead. He becomes a legend, the man without fear, the man he never wanted to be. He wanders out in space, only coming back when he's needed, which these days are few and far in between. Eventually the legends morph to him never having existed, a story made up and embellished over all the years. He just wants to sleep.

a missing scene that definitely happened

Okay so something had to happen in between Spectre and gl rebirth that made hal go from going I don't deserve to be human to I have to have my life back and geoff does not show it. I usually have something happen with Helen that makes Hal have to erase both of their memories, which is why she isn't there in gl rebirth, and pushes Parallax, the entity into being.

I recognize canon has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I've elected to ignore it (+ what should have happened)

The fucking Hal is younger than Roy post resurrection thing. Literal hatred in my heart, that man is in his 50s and everytime dc makes him younger he gains a year.

This is basically canon but specifically Guy and Ollie most believe that he wasn't in control during Parallax. Hal himself "tries to forget" who was in control and that interests me so much.

He genuinely believes that the other founding jlers, especially Superman doesn't think much of him. He projects his own insecurities onto them, while they do think he's capable, they don't think he's going to go evil again.

This is basically canon, but to me the memory he's most nostalgic for is being on the road with Ollie, just the two of them. That's what he thinks of when he thinks of home, and it'll never return again.

People like to say its his father's death, but he barely remembers that these days. It's not even coming back from space and learning what happened to Coast. No, it's his older brother looking at him and snarling that what happened was his fault, that he murdered their mother by the crime of existing.

He doesn't really have any fanon relationships? Like besides bruce but I can't stand fanon's version of that. Ummmm, fanon makes his and barry's relationship a little less boring but that's not hard to do because a sock is more interesting than them.

Oh wait! Okay my fanon version of Hal and Arisia (not romantic). I basically jumble up all the different versions and recons and plus put in some of my own extraplations to make a good friendship there. Arisia looks up to Hal and holds him to high standards but she doesn't hero worship. She's still holding a grudge for the beating up Kilowog plot.

Seeing this as romantic so sinhal. I mean if one of them was female they would have been mainline canon years ago. Morrison is the only dc writer who gets me (made sinhal canon in an alternative universe and I'm eternally grateful for that). They're such good parallels and if they got together??? Insanity

Sorry it took me a while to respond, I wanted to think about which ones to recommend because there's so many good ones and I just can't cover them all. Like, do you prefer ×Reader fics or with OC's? Personally, I prefer my reads to be as immersive as possible, so my list will lean more on the former. ✌🏻😅

If you like beautifully-written one shots, @applinsandoranges and @spaceyaceface both have an incredible portfolio of fluff, angst and serotonin-inducing short fics. Like, I can't choose. You're gonna have to see for yourself, but boy, you're in for a treat!

@sebastianswallows is also another favourite of mine. She has both series and one-shots that are just exquisitely written.

@awkwardauthorwrites' 2-parter Wildest Dreams is probably one of the best things you could ever read, like, I don't know where to start with this one. It just gives me all the feels! 😭💖

And of course, @arthenaa, my darling, my baby, my little writing genius, has a must-read titled Histoire de Toi et Moi that is just 😘👌🏻

oooh this is fun! I'm gonna bend the rules slightly and do 5 recs of my own work AND 5 recs of other people's work and those can then carry the chain on if they want!

Okay so for my work I have to say

Memory Served and Court of Public Opinion (I'm combining these because CoPO is the sequel! It's darker than all my other work and full of fun twists and turns!)

Burnin' Up (I cannot put into words how much I love this series and I'm so sad it's coming to an end soon!)

Forgotten Lands AU (This is a newer one and there's not a lot there at the moment but I have so many ideas and I just loved diving into the world of fantasy!)

Fixer Upper (This one hit me out of nowhere and has taken me on a wild ride into the world of Mechanic!Curtis and I totally blame @sweater-daddiesdumbdork for my Curtis Obsession!)

As Long As You're Mine Pt 1 and 2 (I never expected I would write mob stuff because I very much live in the world of fluff and rainbows and all things happy, but I love this and I did struggle picking between this one and Nomad's Girl!)

As for other writers:

I absolutely LOVE @sweater-daddiesdumbdork 's work that its near impossible to pick just one but I love Life's Short So Make It Sweet and The Pack series! Also all of Amber's Halloween series are amazing!

@time-for-a-lullaby is the QUEEN of Chris AUs! The Boston Brute got me obsessed with Hockey! Out of Left Field was AMAZING and Cowboy Chris makes me weak at the knees

@anika-ann writes the best Steve. Her work is so poetic that I feel like I'm reading a classic. Her Attached Series is amazing and makes me wish I had a professor Steve in my life

@stargazingfangirl18 is the QUEEN of Smut and everyone should BOW DOWN! Necessary Arrangement is INCREDIBLE and I cannot wait to get my hands on the published version! I'm also so happy that she is back and I can fully dive into more of her work!

@drabblewithfrannybarnes has the BEST Hockey AU with all the faves! I don't think I could actually pick which one is my favourite! Also she's another fave of mine that has returned and I can feel nature healing!

I could honestly go on and on with fic and writer recs because there are SO many amazing writers on this site so just go give them some support! Engagement has been real bad lately and as much as us writers say we write for ourselves, we share our work for you guys and it shouldn't be a one-way street, we should be getting more engagement than just serial likes in return for sharing our work.
