“This is going to end, isn’t it? When summer ends.”
Steve turned to you. “No, it won’t.”
You were both laying down on the grass, near the lake, chasing clouds and living dreams. He covered the sun for the both of you.
“No, I know it will. Why else is this all a secret?” You asked, ignoring his gaze. A cigarette hanging from his lips.
“Secrets are good.”
You sat up, stealing the cigarette from him and giving it a hit. “So you won’t be embarrassed to talk to me when we’re back at school?”
“C’mon. We’ve always talked,” he took the cigarette back from you.
“No, not like this.”
Steve watched. “I’ll talk to you.”
“And meet in public?”
He pursed his lips, playing with the cigarette.
“Or are we still sticking to meeting behind the mall?”
“That’s what makes us… us.”
Yeah, right.
It had been years since that conversation and it usually played in your head when you least expected it.
The diner never closed. You usually stayed up until 5 am, working long hours with barely anyone showing up past 1.
That’s when you could finally enjoy some time to yourself. You always thought you’d end up somewhere else. Not here, though. With dreams that never came through, or never became plans and how good can dreams be when they don’t turn into plans?
Dreams are for fools, and you were a fool. Hawkins never offered another option. Though lately, it has offered rumors and fear. Not anything for the dreamers.
But that didn’t matter at 1:52am as you sat down, a coffee jar in your hand, and faint music playing in the background. You moved your feet along the music.
You did want music, another variety however. Not whatever was playing on the radio at 1:52a—53 am now.
Minutes seemed to be hours at this boring old cafe. You’d think that after the whole disaster, your boss would’ve closed the diner and ran away like everyone else was doing.
That was not an option it seemed.
Times were, undoubtedly,  dark. Casualties were still hanging up in everyone’s hearts. And Hawkings offered no hope.
The cook sang along to the song.
You disliked this.
All of it.
Margaret, Maggie, your older coworker just watched him with pain.
“You know, Charlie, you’re going to scare y/n off.”
“Nothing scares me, Maggie, if it had, I would’ve run away a long time ago,” you joked, staring at the coffee pot.
Maggie smirked, “are we sure nothin’ scares you? Surely a Betty like you gets scared by something.”
Charlie shrugged. “I was scared by recent events.”
You pursed your lips.
“Those don’t count,” Maggie said. An older woman who made a living out of this diner, who actively encouraged you to get out of here before life got in the way. “Y/N here should be out there, living her life, falling in love, not worrying about this ridiculous shit.”
You sighed. “What do you mean, Maggie? I have enough with the both of you, working at a stinky diner at 2 am, with greasy burgers still cooking just for fun and a coffee pot that’s getting cold , that's a dream.”
Maggie chuckled. “And what about a boyfriend? Don’t you want any of that? I’m sure boys would like to hang out with you instead of us.”
You snorted, “I doubt anyone would turn to look at me in these… fashionable clothes.”
Maggie grinned. “I’ve noticed a guy, the one with the hair, he comes here often and I see that you’re always rushing to get away from him. I assume you like him.”
You chuckled, feeling the blush building upon your cheeks as you rolled your eyes. “Yeah. Right.”
“So you do like him? He is handsome,” Maggie commented.
“No. I actually hate him.”
“Who?” Charlie asked.
“Waffles with extra whipped cream guy, extra bacon.”
“Ah,” Charlie laughed with a smirk. “Handsome one he is. Yeah you always run away.”
“Because—he’s boring, he always orders the same thing,” you tried defending yourself. “Besides, when he’s not here with Dustin, he comes in with Robin. I’m pretty sure they’re dating, and if that weren’t enough, he is Nancy Wheeler’s ex.”
“I don’t know who any of those people are,” Charlie commented.
“Robin works with him at Family video, they used to work at Scoops Ahoy at the mall. She’s nice, she’s pretty. Steve…He— hangs out a lot with Dustin, he is younger, they’re all kids, Max and Mike and Lucas… Not Will anymore. He’s gone. With that girl—who—well. Nancy is dating Jonathan Byers now, which—I would’ve never thought they would back in high school.”
Maggie laughed. “You seem to know a lot about him.”
“I didn't say anything about him, I just randomly namedropped people. But I know nothing about King Steve Harrington. Other than he used to be friends with Carol and Tommy, and other jerks. But he stopped being friends with them. He was a jerk, at first. I did not like him, less when he was around Carol and Tommy H, they sucked.” You leaned against the counter. “And— I know he used to be the worst in French class, and chemistry… and every single subject, actually. I used to tutor him. For a bit, only. I don’t think he even remembers my name, but he was terrible, really, I helped him but boy, was he bad at it, but I discovered more about him. He wasn’t only this idiotic jock…he was misunderstood. Don’t get me wrong, he was an idiot. Treating girls like they were a notch in his belt. Trophies, let’s say. But I gathered from him that he—he was really insecure of himself, he probably thought that by dating all of them he would be worthy of something. Which— even when he was perfect in mostly everything he did from the basketball team to the swim team.”
Maggie only crossed her arms with a smirk.
“He dated, a lot. He  He—uh, he dislikes his parents. And he tried to look the closest to Tom Cruise, only days after Risky Business had premiered he showed up talking like him,” you nodded. “College women can smell ignorance like dog shit. He made that movie his whole personality. I know he cried with Annie. He once told me he was a lifeguard. He did not get along with Billy, no one really did, actually…. And currently, he’s helping out with the homeless at our high school. I bumped into him and he was folding clothes and he’s really bad at it. He sucks.”
Charlie and Maggie watched you and then gave each other a knowing glance.
“So you know nothing about him,” Maggie crossed her arms with a smirk.
You shook your head, “no, I don’t. Nothing. I only know he’s a jerk.”
“Uh-huh,” Maggie chuckled. “Let’s hope he visits you tomorrow so you can get to know about him. You can get his order next time.”
“Why would I? He’s an idiot. He probably comes here just to make fun of me.”
Maggie chuckled, “I’m pretty sure he comes in very often and I don’t think it’s because of the waffles.”
“My waffles are the best,” Charlie defended himself,
“They are,” you agreed, nodding your head and pointing with the coffee pot to him. “He’s got a point, besides it’s dinner and a show with Charlie’s singing.”
Charlie frowned, “hey, I’m the best at singing.”
“Change the station,” Maggie offered with a smirk. “Get some of your grooves going as you keep lying to yourself. But please, before he keeps singing,”
You snorted. “Grooves,” you teased  as you changed the radio station. A groovy one.
Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin.’ started playing,
“Now this is music!” You said, moving your head along.
Maggie watched you, chuckling. “You young people scare me.”
You moved your shoulders to her.
“You think you can give a better show than me?” Charlie questioned.
“Is that a challenge?” You grinned hopping to the counter as you laid down on it. You kept loving your shoulders as you sang along. “I was beat! Incomplete! I'd been had, I was sad and blue, but you make me feel, yeah you make me feel!”
Your off key singing suddenly turned into a show as you used spoons as your microphone, and danced behind the counter, putting on a full show with exaggerated movements and dramatic theatrics.
“Y/N stop,” Maggie said.
“Touched for the very first time!” You sang to her even louder.
“Y/N,” Charly shook his head.
“Like a Virgin!”
Madonna would be proud, hadnt it been for the fact that your dancing and singing was distracting you, enough for you to ignore the small bell at the door that had rang as someone had walked in.
Mid dancing, you turned around to continue your performance.
“You’re so fine! Fuck!” You said before wishing Hawkins to give another earthquake and suck you in. You dropped your spoon and felt like you were dying. You ducked behind the counter.
“Hi,” King Steve Harrington stood there awkwardly as you showed your face having watched part of your performance. Robin Buckley standing next to him with a big smirk on her face.
Dustin Henderson, right behind them.
You ducked again.
“Hi,” Robin spoke now, with a smirk. “That was an incredible performance,” you could tell she was trying hard not to be sarcastic and seem nice instead.
“Hi,” you said, dying of embarrassment. “I’m so sorry you—were not supposed to see that, usually at this time no one comes in and—“You were speaking too fast, you cleared your throat and avoided Steve’s gaze.
The whole trio looked tired. That was an understatement. They were all covered with gray circles around their eyes and they looked sad
What they were doing here at 2 am was beyond your thoughts, you only cursed that they’d decided to join you amidst your Madonna performance. But you didn’t questioned their emotional state. Lately everyone in Hawkins was sad.
Dustin was the first to smile. “That was cool! Wasn’t it, Steve?”
Steve offered a smile. “Uh—“he coughed. “Yeah it was—something.”
You’d heard about a ghost or monster of sorts killing or disappearing people. You, right now, wished you were one of the victims.
Maggie joined in. “Hey fellas, you can take your seats and hopefully y/n here will give you all another show, how about that?”
They went and squeezed on a single booth.
You sank behind the counter again.
Maggie watched you. “Are you kidding me?”
“Can you get their orders?” You begged.
“No,” she smiled, politely.
“There is more I know about him,” you admitted. “He’s a jerk and he was a bigger jerk back in high school,” you admitted. “He broke my heart and I dislike him so much.”
Maggie watched you. “So you do know about him.”
You did. More than you wanted to admit. And he knew about you, the things that you didn’t want anyone to know.
Secrets. Which was funny, were you not both based on secrets?
“Yes, I know he’s an idiot.”
An idiot who used to have wine with you, an idiot that laughed on a rooftop, an idiot that laid down on the grass with you.
“But do you like him?”
“No, I try to always show up so he feels guilty.”
Maggie watched them. “Go get their order. I’m busy.”
No, you didn’t like him. Not anymore, you wouldn’t go on that lane again.
Hawkins offered enough darkness for you to search one in yourself.
“Busy? Busy? Doing what?” You called her out.
She just walked away swaying her hips..
You breathed in, slowly. “Fine.”
You stood up and made your way over. “Hello ladies and gentlemen, I hope you enjoyed the show, what can I get for you tonight? May I offer anyone some coffee?”
The three of them started to unanimously tell you their orders.
“You know fellas, I don’t have a super power so I’m gonna need you all to give them one by one.”
Steve turned to you, “Sorry, y/n,” he apologized.
So he remembered your name.
You made eye contact with him for what seemed a second. Then you were reminded of who he was. A good reminder for you, it’s good to keep track of your heart.
There had always been something in his eyes. Something you loved and hated, eyes which spoke.
Steve had always been quiet, but his eyes had always been loud.
“So, coffee. Who wants coffee?” You asked again.
They all raised their hands.
Great.
When had Steves gang turned into a child and a girl whom you didn’t hate was not an answer you had.
“‘Kay, I’ll be right back with coffee for and then you all can, in order, tell me what you want.”
“Thanks y/n,” Steve said as you walked away. You filled the coffee pot and got each a cup. Except for Steve. Consciously.
Because it was one of those days, when you had remembered what it felt like to be hurt. When you remembered how bad Steve Harrington can hurt you.
You laughed against his chest. “Are you kidding?”
“I haven’t slept since, that movie scared me. You should take care of yourself, you’re a babysitter sometimes.”
“I’m sure Mike Myers won’t come after me.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I can’t believe Steve the King Harrington is scared of a movie.”
When one is most lonely is when the mind is most annoying. You were always lonely.
Dustin watched you curiously. “Uh you forgot a cup, for Steve.”
“Did I?” You asked. “Ah,” you took out your notepad. “So, what can I get for you?”
Robin watched you then with a big smirk on her face. She snorted and watched Steve.
It was with little things that you could get back at him. Slowly.
“I’ll have—“Steve started.
“Yeah, I know, waffles with extra whipped cream and extra bacon.”
You did know him. He hadn’t changed his order since that one august. People don’t change.
Or maybe they do. For the better, hopefully.
You had, hadn’t you?
Maybe you believe heartache to be the first spark to ignite a change in people. Perhaps when the heart is most vulnerable is when you can mold it.
There is a chance, perhaps, that hearts don’t break, but they become weak, vulnerable, moldeable. Perhaps a heartbreak may not be literal. Or does the heart lose something when it breaks?
Maybe.
Maybe the heart loses and keeps trying to build back up, of new pieces, with bandaids and tape. Building from scattered parts that we find.
But had you built it?
Robin grinned, watching Steve get uncomfortable.
“You’re not getting his coffee?”
You took a deep breath, “Yeah. I’d rather get Charlie cooking first. I’ll bring it in a second.”
Steve watched. “Actually, Can I get a milkshake, too?” Steve asked.
You took a deep breath. “Hm-hm”
“Strawberry, still my favorite,”  Steve awkwardly said. You glared.
Strawberry milkshakes. He was doing it on purpose. Strawberry milkshakes was your thing. But you had to ignore it for now.
Saying us.
“Never have I ever—had a strawberry milkshake,”
“That’s bullshit.”
“I swear, it’s true,” he chuckled. “It’s always chocolate, vanilla.”
“You don’t know what you’re missing on,  Harrington.”
Robin watched between the both of you. She nodded to herself. She knew part of the story, not all.
How august had come in and gone so, so quickly. She didn’t know it, she’d only known about you hanging out with Steve Harrington.
‘Why?’
‘He’s not that bad’
‘No, he is.’
He was.
“Robin?” You turned to the girl, whom you’d been friends with, for a while. Until you graduated and before she was friends with Steve. Which, you could not understand. How a friend can betray you and be with someone who had broken your heart.
She had said it, ‘you’re young, it’ll pass’.
No, it wouldn’t.
‘He’s Steve Harrington, who in their right mind falls for Steve Harrington?’
Maybe she’d been right for that one.
Robin and you had been close, until you weren’t. You blamed Steve. And there was a longer story behind everything.
“Yeah, uh, I’ll have—the cheeseburger, with fries,” Robin said. “And milkshake, too”
Dustin looked up and gave you a smile. You smiled back. Even though he’d made the conscious choice to be friends with a jerk you knew the kid had nothing to be blamed on.
Besides, you knew him to be grieving. You’d learned he’d been friends with Eddie Munson, another old friend from high school, someone whom you’d blantantly avoided the summer with Steve happened.
“Hey, y/n,” Eddie had called. “Are we seeing each other today?”
You licked your lips, it was a Friday morning, and Steve had yet to call.
“No, I can’t. I’m busy—“
“Busy?” Eddie laughed, “I thought you would join us for DnD?”
“Can’t tonight, Munson.”
Steve didn’t call.
Steve had, undoubtedly, taken away everything from you. There was a reason why you didn’t want to be friends with him anymore. Friends.
As if you’d ever been friends.
“I’ll have—a burger too,” Dustin said. “Chocolate milkshake for me.”
“Me too, cheeseburger,” Steve said. “Time for a change, right?”
You ignored Steve’s gaze, just like he had all these years.
You placed their orders and waited behind the counter. You could tell Steve was uneasy. Dustin and Robin only watched you while gossiping with him.
Were they making fun of you?
You had seen Steve show up regularly lately, you had noticed that and he always watched you and tried talking to you, you ignored him every time and let Maggie take his orders.
It was rewarding.
You did give him his coffee, but ran away as fast as you could before he could engage in any conversation.
“See? What did I tell you?” You heard Steve tell Dustin and Robin.
You sat by the counter.
“He always asks for you, you know,” Maggie said as she was making the milkshakes, letting the blender be as loud as it could so you could talk to each other.
You shrugged.
“I don’t like him,” you said. “And I have a fair reason not to.”
“Which is?”
You took a deep breath and stared at him, when he noticed he gave you an awkward smile and a wave.
“He’s an idiot,” you admitted to Maggie.
“What’s the real story? I know there is a long story behind that.”
Was it? A short summer that had gone too fast. A summer that would be remembered every now and then.
So much for one summer. A summer that comes as a chalk drawing on the floor, easily erased with the rain.
“I’ll see you on Monday, maybe I’ll pick you up for school.”
“Can’t wait.”
He never did.
“Not really, look at him, he’s an idiot,” you said as you watched the guy drop his coffee as he saw you staring again. The cup was shattered. He had a talent for shattering things. “We spent—“you cleared your throat. “We spent a summer together. It was a secret, then we came back to school and he ignored me. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll clean up his mess. As usual.”
You went back to him as he was already trying to clean it up.
“I’m really—really sorry,” he was whispering. “I broke—“
“It’ll be on your receipt,” you said.
“He’s an idiot, we are sorry,” Dustin said, helping you clean.
Steve was shaking. “I’m—sorry, uh, y/n can I—“
“I’ll get you another one,” you said as you went to the counter gathering a broom and a mop.
Steve followed. “No, I’ll get it, I did that. I’m sorry.”
You turned to see him and handed it to him.
“I know what it’s like to have ugly customers,” he said, smiling awkwardly. “I’m sorry.”
You only stared.
“Hey, maybe—uh, next time, this could be your microphone,” he grinned, playing with the mop. “You know, like—“he swiveled the mop. “Madonna is more—“
“Oh, please don’t.”
“No, no,” he grinned as he shook his head, letting out his hair hang loose. “Uh—I have seen you helping out.”
“Yeah, the kitchen,” you said.
“I’m helping too, sorting clothes and such,” he grinned.
“Uh-huh.”
“Maybe—-uh, maybe I could uh, give you a ride home one of these days, you know, it’s not,” he cleared his throat. “It’s not safe.”
“I’m okay.”
He turned to his friends who only watched him disappointedly. he cleared his throat and stared at the radio, turning it up. The news were on repeat. only a reminder of these dark times.
He cleared his throat and clumsily changed the station. Holiday by Madonna started playing. “Perfect.”
You crossed your arms, humored.
“More—next time try moving more uh—“he started moving his shoulders.
“Enlighten me, please.”
“Actually,” he handed the mop and broom back to you. “I remembered Madonna doesn’t like the mic stands so—“
You watched as he took a deep breath.
“Madonna is more—“he cleared his throat as he failed attempting to dance as Madonna. Moving up his hands in the air, with two left feet moving around the diner as if it were come kind of horrific dancefloor. Moving his hips to the sides and jumping.
Steve Harrington was making a complete fool of himself in front of you.
Humming and not knowing any of the lyrics to the song that was playing.
“Celebrate!” He said as he raised his arms, with every lack of rhythm he could have.
You were deciding how to react. You were embarrassed by him and tried not to laugh. You turned to look at Dustin and Robin who were just as embarrassed of their friend. Dustin covered his eyes and Robin was only laughing to herself and shaking her head.
But Steve continued, he had started so he had to finish. Even Maggie and Charlie had stopped what they were doing to watch the man make a fool of himself.
And for a moment, there was the Steve you’d met for a summer, a Steve that only you had been lucky enough to meet.
“I’ve seen the video,” he said. “I know she moves like this.”
You smiled then, and even chuckled. “You’re done now, you don’t have to make a fool of yourself.”
He approached you, “I think we all need to dance in such dark times.”
You rolled your eyes, as he only watched with a smirk as he snapped his fingers. You found yourself smiling and you didn’t like that.
“I know you’re loving this!”
Were you?
It was weird how he assumed to know. Did he really? Had you not been gone from his memory?
You turned around as Maggie placed the plates for you to hand them. He approached you as he tried engaging you to dance with him, you were quick to push him away.
“Come on? You were dancing just fine before,” he grinned.
“It was a private performance.”
He chuckled. “Weren’t we once, a private performance?”
You ignored him and took the orders to the booth.
“Y/N,” he said. “Dance with me, please?”
“So, here’s the three burgers with a side of fries each and your milkshakes.”
You had decided to ignore him because you knew him, perfectly  fine. And you were not falling for his tricks again. You didn’t want it to rain again, you didn’t want to curse another month.
“Y/N?”
“Uh, I forgot the ketchup, sorry,” you turned around to see Steve waiting for you.
He gave you a look. A single look. Had you not been on your senses or perfectly aware of who he was you would’ve fallen right away, down to his feet.
Stupid eyes he had.
“No,” you tried walking past him but he stopped you.
“Please?”
“No, and let me walk, please.”
He sighed and cleared his throat. “Sorry, you’re right, you’re a better Madonna than me,” he sighed.
“I am,”you said . “Enjoy your meal. You can clean when you’re done,” you handed back the mop and broom.
He sighed and sat down as Robin and Dustin chuckled.
“I know,” he said. “I know.”
You walked to Maggie who gave you a sad smile. “He’s not bad.”
“He is.”
There was a moment of silence, you only turned the music louder, with songs you loved from last year, or decades before.
Maybe you were too harsh on Steve, but really, you weren’t. No, you werent and this probably was another one of his tricks, another game on you.
You didn’t know how long it happened until they were paying. Steve had tried talking to you once or twice more but you’d only faked to miss him.
Robin and Dustin had walked out but Steve had stayed to clean the mess he had made.
“No, I was kidding, that’s my job you don’t have to do it,” you said.
“No, I do. I have a new philosophy, to clean up the mess I’ve made.”
You chuckled. “That’s going to take you a long time.”
He sighed. “So, you don’t like me.”
“What gave it away?”
“I thought we were friends, we used to be friends in high school.”
You snorted and looked away. “Friends? Friends?” You let out a cynical laugh. “No, we were not. I tutored you for a bit. We were not friends.”
“And what about—“
“What about what?”
“You know, that summer.”
He had to be kidding right now. “Yeah. That proves we are not friends.”
“Right. Look,  I was a jerk. And I’m—“
“Yeah. Big one.”
“I’ve changed.”
“Good.”
You walked away trying to find anything else to do, as he followed after you.
“Please, y/n.”
“You think just because you dance to Madonna I’ll just magically forgive you?”
“Well.”
“No, Steve, I don’t like you, I don’t know what you’re trying to do and I know you’ve been trying to reach out to me—“
“Yes, for a while now! I’ve even called you—“
“Years after you were a jerk, what came to your mind? Why now?”
“I’m just sorry.”
“Look, I’m sorry,” you chuckled. “I know, I know. It must be so hard for you for a girl not to fall at your feet but I’m sure plenty of girls are dying to have Steve Harrington talk to them.” Irony and sarcasm were stirring form each and every word.
He sighed, “May I make it up to you?” He asked.
“Is guilt not letting you sleep?”
He sighed, “ I know I was—probably the biggest jerk to you back in the day.”
“Yep, you were.”
“May I make it up? Let’s go watch a movie—“
“Oh, who paid you this time?”
He took a step back. He knew there was absolutely no chance against you. You’d defeated Steve Harrington.
He bit his lip, “I really have changed. And I’ll prove it.”
“What for, Steve?”
“I’ll prove it!” He said, before walking out.
Maggie watched you. “You’re too harsh.”
“No, I'm not even close to being harsh.”
“Why, y/n? Why not give him a chance?”
“Because—Because it’s his fault I curse an entire month.”

We're Just Friends! (Omega!bakugo x alpha!reader x omega!Izuku) pt. 1/?
Pt 2 / pt. 3
A/n: kinda annoyed that I had to split this but it’s almost 2k words so,,,, another series is born!!!
Lore: Once an Alpha reaches 21 they get their first rut, they’d either already have their mates or the rut will act as a push for them to get together and bond.
Summary: Reader and Katsuki have been friends for years, and everyone expects them to get together, until reader rescues an omega that lives in their building, and things get a touch more... complicated
Warnings: omegaverse, obvi, yandere themes (my boi Izuku is a stalker), possessiveness, pining, hurt/comfort, reader is kinda dense, mad swearing,
“So are you and Bakugo like- ya know-?” Mina mimed what you assumed was meant to be a bonding bite, and you thanked god Katsuki was elsewhere.
You were sitting in the college park with Denki and Mina, and since you were approaching your 21st birthday, when alphas usually decided on their mate, or mates if they wanted a triad, and they were grilling you to high heaven-
“No, we’ve just know each other since we were teenagers so we’re just kinda close friends!” You waved your arms frantically, and Mina just raised her eyebrows as Denki laughed.
“Bro- we’ve seen him scent you, you’re always lending him your jackets that reeks of you, and you’re trying to say the two of you aren’t courting?” The blonde stopped laughing just long enough to ask, but he dissolved back into laughter when your flustered scent filled the space.
“I tried to bring it up with Katsuki but you know what he’s like! I asked what he was gonna do for his heat and he locked me out of the apartment! I don’t think he wants an alpha at all, really-“ you stopped the second your nose picked up the familiar burnt sugar smell, frantically shushing Mina and Denki when they made kissing noises as Katsuki approached.
“You forgot your fucking lunch, dumbass.” He dropped a bag in your lap, completely ignoring your friends as he inhaled and then gently shoved your head. “Why the fuck do you smell so worked up?” The hint of concern in his voice made your heart twinge, maybe you did wish things were different, but you pushed that thought aside as you reassured him nothing was wrong and you were just worried about a test. Katsuki believed you, barely, reminding you not to be late to dinner before he stalked off to god knows where, Denki and Mina bombarding you the second he was out of sight.
You were two minutes from home when you smelt it, an omegas scent that was so distressed it almost had you gagging. You back tracked your steps to where it was strongest, heart dropping when you couldn’t see down the alley but could hear some kind of scuffle. Katsuki was going to kill you. You walked down the alley as quietly as you could, the distressed scent only getting stronger and sending your protective instincts into overdrive, and if you weren’t so worried maybe you would have stopped to wonder why the omegas scent was affecting you so much.
“But you smell so sweet omega, surely you’re close to your heat?” That voice made your skin crawl, and the nails you had been digging into your palm were quickly turning into claws.
“I-I’m not really, please, I just want to go home- I’m sure you have places to be-“ the second voice trembled and your heart broke at the fear in it, that must be the omega.
“Bullshit, we can fuckin smell how much you want it-“ the third voice was accompanied by a thud, and distressed chirps followed, pushing you over the line and causing a growl to rip out of your throat.
“Well look here, somembody else wants to join-“ the sleazeballs voice cut off when you stepped into the light, your teeth bared with your canines extended, when an alpha was this pissed off the best thing to do was run. You kinda hoped they didn’t.
“Don’t worry man, we can all share him-“ The second one tried to passify you, but couldn’t help baring his neck in submission when you let out an even louder growl, your angered scent pumping off of you in waves.
“Leave. Now. Before I make sure the two of you never fucking mate anyone.” A feral grin spread over your face at their fearful scents, unable to resist tripping one of them when they ran past. Only once they’d disappeared onto the Main Street did you register the distressed chirps coming from the figure hunched on the ground, and your scent instantly switched to as comforting as you could get it, subconsciously crooning to try and calm the omega down. It seemed to work, and you gently crouched down across from him, desperately wanting to hug him but not wanting to over step. The decision was made for you, however, when the omega launched at you, rubbing his cheek against yours and thanking you over and over in one of the sweetest voices you’d ever heard.
“Hey no problem, uh, what’s your name?” You asked when he finally calmed down, pulling back just enough to take out his features. You almost got a nosebleed. Teary emerald eyes and matching green hair framed his face, with freckles dusting his cheeks and a slight blush covering his entire face, you were so in awe you almost didn’t hear his name.
“Sorry! I’m Izuku Midoryia- I live just down the street and was walking home when these guys chased me down here, thank you so much for saving me!” He hesitated, and you realised you hadn’t even told him your name.
“Oh! I’m y/n l/n! Do you live in the big blue apartment complex?” You gently stood up, reaching down to help Midoriya up with you, and ignoring how warm you felt when he immediately nuzzled into your side.
“Yeah! Do you know it? I only moved in a couple days ago!”
“I actually live there with my friend, I can walk you home if you’re comfortable with that?” You almost died when he let out a happy chirp, he was so cute.
“That would be so amazing, are you sure it’s not a bother?”
“Oh course not- anything to make sure you get home safely!
Midoriya had moved into the apartment opposite yours, (you were too tired to wonder if it was more than a coincidence) and the two of you had laughed about it before you said goodbye, promising to catch up again at a later date. Now, you were standing outside your apartment door, ready to face the music from what would surely be a very, very angry friend. Katsukis enraged scent hit you the second you walked in the door, almost completely covering the smell of the ramen that must have been dinner, and you called out as you took off your shoes.
“Katsuki, I’m home, sorry I’m so late! You wouldn’t believe what-“ you were cut off by a growl, slowly straightening up and looking across the room to where your housemate stood. Katsuki stalked towards you, and you froze when you saw how wide his pupils were blown, was he really that pissed about you being late?
“Why the fuck do you reek like some scared omega.” He snarled, and your eyes zoned in on how his fangs had elongated. Shit, this was bad, was he nearing his preheat? That could make make him more sensitive-
“Funny story- I was walking home and I heard this commotion and…” you trailed off when he reached you, red eyes fixed on your neck in a way that made you blush.
“I don’t care, you smell fucking disgusting.” He pulled you close once he reached you, and you were too scared to say anything, face going bright red when he rubbed his scent glands over you, until your scent just smelt like him.
“That’s better, now we can actually eat before you shower and get the remainder of that stench off of you.”
Katsuki didn’t know why he was so on edge, and when you came home smelling familiar, that mint and honey scent that he hadn’t encountered in years, his instincts had pushed him over the edge. You were his, how dare you let some other omega scent you? The two of you were practically together, he cooked for you and scented you, and you’d scent blankets and pillows and such for his nest, so why the fuck were you coming home reeking like that? He was just waiting until you turned 21 and had your rut for the two of you to seal the deal. He couldn’t sleep, growling to himself as he realised the only way he’d get any rest was with you. The apartment was dark as he quietly opened his door, walking down the hallway and not even hesitating before he opened the door to your room. You were asleep in the middle of the bed, hair a mess over the pillows and your shirt rumpled up so your midriff was exposed. The room was saturated in your content scent, and Katsuki let out a sigh of relief when that was all he could smell, other than his own scent quickly spreading through the room and mingling with yours. He padded over to the bed, crawling under the covers and positioning himself so he was facing you, his face pressed to your neck and one arm thrown over you. You mumbled something in your sleep but didn’t wake, and Katsuki couldn’t help but let out a happy chirp when you automatically rested your arm on his waist, pulling him closer till your legs were tangled together. It was… more peaceful than he was used to, and he pushed down the nagging feeling that something was missing, your scent and warmth quickly lulling him to sleep.

Сhapter 6
Life had never been particularly kind to Hange Zoe. Tragedies and heartbreaks followed her ever since the day she was born – kicking, screaming and nearly killing her own mother. Her mother never recovered from that blow, her health diminishing while vexation with her own child grew.
That day gave a start to Hange’s life – and to the endless stream of misfortunes she had to face.
Those misfortunes frequented, the amount of bad days increased as Hange was becoming older. But even as a child, driven solely by curiosity and fascination for the world, uncaring of the workings and the rules of the society around her, she had her fair share of frustrations. They usually appeared when her father was around – luckily, due to the nature of his work, he very rarely was. Hange didn’t know her father well, he was always absent, always somewhere else, doing something incredibly important, shaping the future of their country. He was many things - a leader, soldier, hero. But he was not a father. Hange had but a few memories of him, and after all these years she had forgotten the sound of his voice, couldn’t for the life of her remember if his hair was as brown as her own, or had she inherited that vivid color from her mother. But what Hange could never forget, what was etched into her memory for all eternity was the look in his eyes – full of incomprehension, bewilder, disappointment – that he always aimed at her. No matter what she did – excitedly gushed about her studies, showed him a shiny rock she found or urged to go and see the frog she caught, her father had the same reaction, always told her the same thing,
“I expected better from you, Hange.”
Those words were the first dagger that was buried in her chest. But it was far from being the only one.
Her father died before she reached her eleventh birthday. And despite the mourning clothes mother had forced her to wear, despite the endless eulogies she had to sit through, Hange didn’t feel the same sadness that everyone around her did, she didn’t – couldn’t – share their pain or understand their grief. Her father meant something for all those people, but to her he was just a stranger, an unpleasant one at that. When he died, a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Without him, it was so much easier to breathe.
But her sorrows, her frustrations— sadly, they didn’t end with her father’s death.
Once Hange finished her studies, completed her training, she was sent to the outside world, far away from Marley. And for a moment, for one fleeting moment, she was happy, excited to do what she always wanted – learn and explore. But she was not meant to busy herself with research, to familiarize herself with different cultures, she was sent to these distant lands as a soldier, a weapon of great Marleyan Empire. Instead of books and quills, she held a rifle and a knife. And the only thing she learnt was how much blood her motherland was spilling on the foreign soils.
Sleep was coming harder to her after that, her dreams were haunted by visions of red, by screams of pain and anguish. She had become a soldier, her hands made for creation were now covered in blood. Her brilliant mind was now broken by the horrors she had faced.
And so Hange decided to cover herself in thick armor, to hide behind a smile and false happiness. The bad days persisted, losses following after her like a shadow, chasing like an infatuated lover, but she didn’t let it break her, continued moving forward with her chin raised high and her lips curled up.
However, despite the positive attitude she had adopted, there were lots of days Hange considered bad, awful even – the day when she learned just how Titans were created, what price Eldians had to pay for that; the day when she realized that her teacher, brilliant Tom Ksaver was one of those so called shifters, that his days in this world would end abruptly; the day when she received her first wound and spent the night in infirmary, wallowing in pain; the day when she killed another human for the first time and saw the light fading from someone else’s eyes; the day when Wall Maria fell and she witnessed just how much destruction and devastation she helped to bring to this little island; the day when Mike and Nanaba died; the day when her squad perished; the day when she had to leave Paradis behind; the day when she was brought back.
There were lots of days Hange considered to be bad. But nothing – absolutely nothing – could compare to the fucking shit show that was waiting for her next.
___
This fateful day was off to a good, if only slightly weird, start. As always she was woken up by a knock on the door. However, this one was very different from Moblit’s – less rhythmic, and much louder. In fact, it didn’t sound like a knock at all, more like someone was kicking the door repeatedly.
Confused and still sleepy, Hange rolled from the bed and went to greet her guest, not bothering to put her glasses on. Behind the now opened door she found… a shape that could or could not belong to a human. She raised her hand, mumbled a quick ‘sorry’ and darted back inside the room, blindly searching for her glasses.
Once the specs took their rightful place on the bridge of her nose, Hange returned back to the shape that now took the form of a young, blonde man. She trailed her gaze down, to the tray he was holding. There were plates with pastries, omelet, sandwiches, sausages and a cup with brown liquid that had steam coming out of it.
“I’m sorry,” she spoke through her confusion, “But do I know you?”
“Not… yet?”
Hange couldn’t understand if his words were meant to be an affirmation or a question. Nevertheless, she took a step back, letting him in.
He went straight to setting up the table, humming under his breath as he did so. Hange watched him work, not knowing how to feel – puzzled or amused. She tried to catch the boy’s gaze and ask for his name, but, considering the amount of food he brought and how exquisitely delicious it looked, Hange already had a pretty solid guess about the persona of her visitor.
“Be my guest,” he gestured to the table after he finished setting it. Then, as an afterthought, he added, “My name is Niccolo.”
“I guessed it already,” Hange smiled, taking a seat. Her stomach growled, as the delicious smell of homemade food entered her nostrils, her mouth filling with saliva even before she took a fork in her hands. She forced herself to look away from the food, however, directing her eyes at the man who had prepared it all. “Thank you for the food, but may I ask what is the occasion?”
Niccolo didn’t answer right away. He took his time, dragging the chair to sit on the other side of the table, then absentmindedly fixing the napkin and pushing the plate closer to Hange.
She didn’t urge him, patiently waiting for him to start talking. She had a feeling that whatever he came here to tell her was going to be extremely interesting.
And Niccolo didn’t disappoint.
“I’ve spent most of my life hating Eldians. Like every good, conscious Marleyan, I believed them to be devils and abominations. When these people captured me I thought it’d be better to die than live among them. But then I’ve got to know them better, I cooked for them, I’ve talked with them, I… grew to like some of them.”
He took a pause, and Hange used this moment to push some food into her mouth. Just as she expected – it was finger-liking good. And it tasted even better, because she also had an intriguing story she could listen to while eating.
“And there is one person that I like most of all, more than anyone I had ever met. I’ve realized my feelings long ago - perhaps, they were born the moment that I set my eyes on her, perhaps, it was destiny that brought both of us together. And to think of it – a Marleyan and an Eldian. If someone had told me years ago that I’d fall for a devil from Paradis, I’d probably punch that person in the face, but look at me now…”
A Marleyan and an Eldian? Hange had heard that story before. Hopefully, Niccolo’s would have a happier ending.
“I wanted to confess to Sasha for a while now, but the time was never right, and I kept stalling… You know, I thought there was no reason to be hasty. but then Jean told me what happened during the attack on Liberio, how I almost lost Sasha and my chance to tell her how I truly feel, so…” Niccolo looked Hange in the eyes, his gaze shining with the love he had for Sasha. “I came to say thank you. For giving me another chance.”
Oh, what a sweetheart. Hange felt her chest warm at the sight of such devotion. She always was a sucker for a young, tender love.
“And?” she leaned over the table, eyes alight with curiosity. “What did Sasha say? She returned your feelings, right?”
“Um.” Niccolo brought a hand to his neck, rubbing the back of it. “I didn’t do it, didn’t, eh, confess. Yet.”
“And when—”
“Today,” he said, confidence returning to his voice. “I planned a dinner for Sasha, invited her family and friends. Actually… I wanted to invite you as well.”
Despite regret that spread through her, Hange curled her lips in a comforting, gentle smile. “Not the best idea, but I appreciate the thought. And,” she added, her smile turning into a cheeky grin. “I’ll be expecting another visit from you, where you’ll share all the details.”
Hange wished she could see it for herself – Niccolo standing before Sasha red in the face, stuttering his undoubtedly sweet confession, Sasha gasping, with her mouth opening in shock, their audience watching it all with a mix of mortification and amusement. Hange wished she could have the privilege of being the part of that audience, alongside a certain Captain, who would cringe horribly at the scene, unfolding before their eyes.
Hange wished— for many things. Alas…
“I’m sure your plan will work out perfectly, but just in case,” Hange winked, snickering, when she saw red spread through Niccolo’s cheeks. “Good luck.”
“Knowing Sasha’s friends… I’ll need all the luck I can get. But for now, I also need to get going, the dinner won’t prepare itself. So thank you once again.” Niccolo stood up, bowing his head. “For everything.”
“Make Sasha happy, that’s all the thanks I need.”
Niccolo nodded, showing her a smile. He headed to the door, and just before he left the room, Hange gave him thumbs up, wishing him luck once more.
As the door behind him closed, she slumped back in the chair and continued munching on her breakfast, a blissful expression appearing on her face.
So… not only a great cook, but also a romantic? Sasha was such a lucky girl.
___
Her next visitors were just as unexpected, and their conversation - a lot less pleasant. It was in that moment that Hange started to suspect that this day would take its rightful place in the collection of her awful ones. But she was far from knowing just how horrible it had the potential to become.
The moment that Armin tumbled inside the room without knocking, throwing the door open in his haste, and Mikasa trailed after him, her pace much slower but just as unsure, dread settled in Hange's stomach.
"Hange-san!" Armin was speaking in a quiet, but barely controlled voice. His chest moved rapidly, as he struggled to keep his breathing slow and even. Hange swallowed her worry, her thoughts running at a lighting speed. What could possibly have happened to make him so panicked? She chanced a look at Mikasa - the young girl wore the same guarded expression she always did, but her eyes kept shifting from side to side, hands clasped together tight enough to make her knuckles white. "We need to talk."
Hange gave them a cautious nod and stood up from the bed, the book she was reading moments ago all but forgotten now. Pieck's warning was loud in her mind, as her fear grew. Marley... they couldn't have attacked so swiftly, right?
Hange gestured for her guests to take their seats at the table that stood near the window. Absentmindedly, she wondered where Moblit was. He didn't show his face to her even once this day. What could he be so busy with?
"Your guard told us that you had a visitor today," Armin stiffly began. "Mind telling us who that was?"
Hange frowned, cocking her head to the side. If the guard told Armin about the visitor, didn't she also mention that it was Niccolo? The cooking boy had to be known around the barracks, if he was that close to Sasha.
"Niccolo came by, he wanted—"
"You mean, Marleyan came by." Armin corrected.
"Sasha's and your friend, if I understood properly," Hange protested.
"But he's Marleyan. Just like you."
So, Armin was accusing her. And not only her, but Niccolo too. Accusing them of conspiring, but for what purpose? By which means? Against who? Hange was so confused. Hange didn't understand. Armin was always so rational, so coolheaded. What could possibly make him so frantic? What drove him to such desperation, to such wild guesses?
"Armin..." any other time, with any other person who trusted her just a fraction more, Hange would have taken their hand in hers. She'd caress it gently, try to calm them down, but in Armin's state... Hange worried that it'd make matters even worse. "Armin," she repeated, lowering her voice ever so slightly, making it sound more trustworthy. "What happened?"
Armin didn't answer, lowering his eyes - in shame or indecisiveness, Hange couldn't guess. And so Mikasa took the word.
"Chief Zacklay is dead," she said. And if that wasn't mind-blowing enough, she added, "Eren escaped from the prison."
"Fuck."
What else was there to say? Everything was turned on its head - Paradis' biggest defender seemingly had gone completely off the rails. Hange wondered if the threat of Marley invasion was still the scariest crisis the island would have to face. The absence of the clear answer was… unnerving.
“We don’t know what to do, or where to look for Eren. That’s why… Armin hopes that you’ll shed some light on that.”
Armin hopes – an interesting choice of words. He didn’t think, didn’t speculate, didn’t hypothesize. He hoped – exhibited a desperate, illogical kind of feeling. So… it was that bad, huh?
“I know nothing about it.” Hange said truthfully. “As you’re aware I’m not even allowed to leave this room.”
“We know.” Mikasa agreed softly, pressing her hand to Armin’s. “But it’s hard to come to terms with it.”
“He is your friend.”
Hange didn’t understand what they were going through, she never had someone that close to her destroy the trust between them, but she knew it wasn’t easy. Eren had changed, Eren had already lied to them once, but he was their friend, they’ve spent years, believing him and in him. They couldn’t change their opinion of him in just one night, they couldn’t let a few mistakes kill what they had created over the course of their lives.
She couldn’t help but wonder if that’s how her friends felt. Was it just as hard to believe in her betrayal? Did Moblit and Levi feel just as lost and unsure? Were they just as desperate to come up with a reason for her behavior? Whatever they did, whatever they felt, Hange hoped she would never have to learn about it. She was miserable enough as it was.
But Eren knew what his friends were going through, had to be aware of the consequences of his actions, of what he was doing to his friends, how much he was hurting them. What drove him to his decision then? What happened to the boy with bright eyes and big heart?
“Do you have any idea what Eren is going to do?”
“I don’t think it’s Eren’s doing, Zeke is probably lying to him, but…” his eyes were still cast down, his finger weakly tracing some vague shapes, when Armin muttered, “Hange-san… do you by any chance know what rumbling is?”
Hange froze. Her throat constricted acutely, creating a quiet, choking sound. For one second, one terrifying second her heart stopped, ceasing its usual rhythm.
Rumbling? Did she hear correctly? Was Armin speaking the truth, did he mean what Hange was worried he meant?
Rumbling.
A short, but scary word. One that was mentioned in but a few frowned upon books. One that was only whispered amongst the members of Titan Society, too horrifying to speak it loud and clear. The word that meant death, the end of everything they knew about their world.
“We were meant to experiment with it,” Armin explained, wriggling his hands. “Nothing too serious, nothing too… devastating. Just a showcase of the power we yield, to keep the other nations on their toes. To keep them away from us. But ever since Zeke had appeared, Eren became so…”
Even since Zeke had appeared, Eren had decided to act on his own, distanced himself from his comrades and friends, joined forces with his brother. Hange would have believed, would have been convinced that the boy she once knew was incapable of such cruelty…
But Liberio, the heart of her homeland was standing in ruins. And it was Eren’s doing.
She narrowed her eyes, gave a scrutinizing look first to Armin, then to Mikasa. Hange really, really hoped that she was wrong. Against all sense, she hoped that they would drive away her doubts, that Eren’s closest friends knew him much more intimately than she ever could, that their opinion of him was right and just.
“Do you think he is capable of proceeding with it?”
“No,” Armin answered.
And the same time Mikasa said, “Yes.”
Yes, said the girl, who was in love with Eren, who was devoted to him above anything or anyone else. She said yes, spoke it quietly, in pained voice. But without a shadow of a doubt.
Hange shuddered.
She— they had to stop this. Somehow. Anyhow. Before it was too late.
"Eren can't activate the rumbling on his own," Hange mused out loud, biting at her thumb.
"Right," Armin confirmed. "He needs the bearer of the royal blood."
And that was good, that meant not all hope was lost. To go through with the rumbling, Eren had to find Zeke, and Zeke was out in the woods with Levi. He would never get away from Levi, and so the world was safe, but—
Zeke wasn't the only one with special blood. There was also—
Fuck.
"Historia, where is she?"
Armin's eyes widened, a gasp escaping him as he came to the same conclusion as Hange. "She arrived in the town... This morning."
And that was the morning Eren decided to make his escape. Hardly a coincidence.
"You don't think..." Armin began tentatively, his eyes pleading Hange to say that it was a joke, that she was wrong in her assumptions. She wished she could give him that reassurance.
"I don't know."
She didn't know what Eren's plan was, what was his goal, what was Zeke’s role in all of this. She didn't know what means Eren would use to ensure his success.
Would he go to his brother, would he trust him enough? Or would he go to Historia and risk hurting his friend?
And how Eren would get to them? Both Zeke and Historia were heavily guarded - Zeke as the hostage, Historia as a Queen and a future mother. But who was the easiest target?
With Levi being in charge of Zeke, Historia was an obvious choice, unless—
Hange swallowed heavily.
Unless Zeke was planning something too - some rouse, or a play, something that would fool Levi, make him lose his focus.
Make him lose Zeke.
And if that worked—
"Where is Historia?" Hange repeated that question. Hidden in the forest, theoretically, Levi was safe. He could hold his own in a fight against Zeke, Hange has seen him do just that in Liberio, even if some part of it was a spectacle. She also had seen Zeke after Shiganshina, personally tended to his wounds that refused to heal properly because of the amount of his injuries. Back then, every hiss of his was like a melody to Hange, a miniscule payback for the carnage he had born.
Zeke was far away from Eren, guarded by Levi. Hange had to trust him with that task. She had to hold onto hope that Levi would be safe. But Historia... Historia was another matter. She was here, close, and as good as her security was, they were not on par with humanity's strongest. They had to protect the Queen first.
"Historia chose this day to arrive because of Niccolo's invitation. She's probably in his restaurant, along with the others." Mikasa said.
So she wasn't alone, surrounded by soldiers and friends. Would that be enough to hold off Eren? Possibly, although, Hange wasn't sure.
But Eren was not alone, he had followers, the ones Moblit was so worried about. Would they be just as amicable? Would they not hurt the ones Eren cared so much about?
"Historia is our main priority. We have to go to the restaurant and make sure that—"
"We?" Armin interrupted.
Hange deflated. Of course, how could she forget? She wasn't their superior, their commander, their friend. There was no we. She was an outsider. She always were.
"I didn't mean to—"
"No." Mikasa curtly said. "We need you, Hange-san. We do," she repeated to Armin, who was already opening his mouth with a protest on his tongue. "We need all the help that we can get."
Armin studied Mikasa for a moment, then turned to face Hange, regarding her pensively. The intense look of his big blue eyes was unnerving, almost impossible to hold without flinching. There was a man Hange once knew with the same intent gaze. Oh, how she wished to see him again. He'd know what to do in a shitty ordeal they were facing right now.
"You're right," Armin sighed at last. "We might not have same goals or even enemies... but our concerns align. With you on our side, our chances are much higher. So, Hange Zoe," Armin offered his hand for a handshake. "Will you help us?"
An unlikely alliance then, huh? Hange could work with that.
She shook his hand with a smile.
___
Something was turning, twisting inside Hange on the way to the restaurant. Even the air seemed stiff, the landscape outside of the carriage bright, pretty but ominous all the same. Liberio - her city - looked just as lively before it got crushed.
And today, right now, she couldn't get that image out of her mind. The streets she walked through hundreds, thousands of times; bakeries she visited day after day; parks and playgrounds she admired from afar - everything was now gone, turned into debris, into nothing but broken stone and crushed glass.
And all of it - all the destruction, pain and blood and death - all of it was a courtesy of one Eren Yeager, the boy with bright eyes and passionate soul.
Would the same thing happen to another city? To all the cities in the world? To hundreds and millions of—
Hange took a deep breath, stopping herself before she screamed in fury, ripped something apart, overturned the carriage, or worse - started crying.
No. Nothing of the sort would happen to the other countries or their people. They would stop this— this catastrophe and Eren, and Zeke, and whoever else was involved. They would not allow another tragedy.
In the meanwhile, Hange did her damnest to focus on small, trivial things - the inside of the carriage, the bumps on the road, the subtle similarities between Mikasa and Levi, the sunbeam playing across Armin's face - anything to keep her mind from other, much scarier things. It didn’t really work.
"We are here," Armin announced, cutting through her morbid thoughts. He put a hand on her elbow - a tentative, but heartfelt gesture. Hange wondered just how disturbed she must have seemed to earn it.
"Let's go," she shook off all the worries, all of her fears. They weren't needed. They would slow her down, serve as a distraction, nuisance. And today, she had to be on her best. "We have no time to spare."
Mikasa and Armin seemed to be of the same opinion, and so the three of them left the carriage and started moving towards restaurant's entrance.
The place was much bigger than Hange had imagined it to be. She expected to see something small, but snug, something homely. But Niccolo's restaurant was grander than most buildings on Paradis. It didn't quite reach the luxurious and exquisite nature of restaurants in Marley, but— clearly, that was Niccolo's inspiration.
The restaurant - as big as it was - was packed, the merry sounds of laughter were heard even from the courtyard. People were celebrating, people came here to have some fun. Hange knew just how rare those instances were. And she hated being the one to put a stop to it. But she'd rather ruin someone's day and be wrong about her assumption or ruin someone's say and be right, than— Than not ruin someone's day, be right and waste precious time.
The three of them walked through the dark brown door, and instantly Niccolo stood in front of them, appearing seemingly out of thin air.
"Armin, Mikasa! I didn't think you'd make it! And you brought Hange with you!”
The happiness on his face was so endearing, so genuine. Hange was wrecked with sympathy for him. Niccolo was just a boy, who loved a girl, and decided that today of all days he'd make his feelings known. Unfortunately, the day he had picked turned out to be one of Hange's bad ones.
"Congratulations once again," Hange made sure to put on an extra gentle smile, in vain hope that it would soothe the effect of her next words. "But that's not why we are here."
"No?" the happiness was gone from Niccolo's face, suspicion overtaking it, but only for a second. Next came anger. "I thought we were over this," he leveled, glaring at Armin. "I thought we've already discussed everything you wanted. And I'm not going to deal with this bullshit again. Not today."
Niccolo whirled around, his leg raised to, no doubt, dramatically storm out. Mikasa's gravelly voice and a tight grip on his wrist stopped him. "If you don't want to ruin this day for Sasha, then take us to Queen Historia. Right now."
Oh. Even Hange felt shivers at that tone of voice, and the threat wasn't even directed at her. Was Levi teaching her his tricks? Or was every Ackerman just naturally good at being so scary?
Niccolo yanked his hand out of Mikasa's grasp, massaging it with a wounded expression. He didn't try to argue once again, though. And soon Hange, Armin and Mikasa were following after him to the banquet hall.
He took them through the lengthy hallway, past kitchen and washing room. At the edge of it, Hange could see two familiar figures - one tall, another short. They were standing next to a wooden cupboard, snickering quietly to each other. As they came closer, Hange realized that Jean and Connie were holding several bottles of wine, clearly having trouble choosing which one to open.
"Niccolo!" Connie yelled out, waving the bottles over his head. "Which one is better?"
"That's not for you, you idiots!" Niccolo snatched the bottles from their hands, his retort vicious— and more shaken than the situation truly called for. Any other day, Hange would have found it weird, would have paid more attention to it. Any day, but not during her bad day.
So she shrugged it off and after giving Jean and Connie a painfully awkward wave, continued following after Niccolo.
Once they were inside, Hange couldn't help but marvel at the amount of people gathered. There were lots of civilians, none of which Hange could recognize. And among them, there was a sea of green, representing the members of Survey Corps. Most of these faces were known to her. One of those faces in particular swiftly left the conversation he was having, gluing himself to her side.
"Hange-san? Armin? What is going on?"
Moblit had his mouth open, his eyes shifting between the three of them. Hange didn't know what he had seen there, what face she was making, but Moblit didn't ask another question, silently falling in step with them.
Sensing the change in the room, Jean and Connie hurried to do the same.
They all stopped in front of the table in the corner - one near the window and with a nice bouquet standing on it. The table was occupied by two - giggling Sasha, who was retelling some story in a rather animated fashion, and Historia, who listened to her friend with a joyful smile.
Looking at her, Hange couldn't help but be amazed. Last time she saw the girl, she had just become a Queen, still doubtful and unsure in her position. And, although, the woman before her eyes didn't look exactly royally – what, with her simple dress and long, loose hair - but Historia had certainly grown, become tougher, more confident in her abilities. However, she was still as pretty as a picture, and the motherhood had enhanced her beauty even further.
"Your Majesty," Hange was the first to take the word, but after that she faltered, not sure how to proceed further. Should she bow? Kneel before the Queen?
She was spared from making that decision. Because right in that moment, right when she was meaning to open her mouth and explain everything to Historia as curtly as was possible— her day turned from simply bad to straight up shitty.
"You!"
Familiar voice. The anger in it wasn't unusual too. Never before it was directed at her but—
Hange recognized the pride of Marley, the future Warrior right away. It was all she was allowed to do before getting promptly tackled to the ground.
"Traitor! Liar! How could you do that to us! How could you side with the devils?"
Gabi kicked and punched anything she could reach, accentuating her every word and accusation, but the blows were barely registered by Hange. She felt no pain, only huge amount of relief.
Gabi was furious, Gabi was loud. Gabi was alive and well.
A month, a whole month she spent worrying about these kids, only to have fate throw them back together in the most ludicrous way possible.
“Gabi,” despite her kicks, despite her loud shrieks, Hange smiled happily. She pulled the girl closer, wrapping one arm around her, while her other went to softly brush the girl’s hair. “Gabi, are you alright? You’re not hurt?”
“And why would you care?” Gabi suddenly sniffled, voice muffled by Hange’s shirt. “You never cared about us, did you? Only about those devils!”
“Gabi…” Hange sighed, finding herself at a loss of words. How could she explain something so complicated? Something she couldn’t understand herself?
Luckily, an unexpected help arrived.
"Don’t judge too harshly, child. You may not understand it yet, but humans' hearts are tricky things. No rules apply to them, they never listen to reason. They don't act like we want them to. They create emotions, make our lives brighter, and at the same time... So much more confusing. And accusing someone of caring for the wrong person… it’s just not right."
Hange looked up, surprised to see a middle-aged man standing before her. She was fairly sure that she had never met him before, but his eyes, his manner of speaking... Somehow, they were familiar.
Before she could connect the dots, however, her attention was ripped away once more, this time by Niccolo's deep voice.
"Eldians, Marleyans," he scoffed. "All of us are vile, devil is in each and every one of us. We're all imperfect, but all of us yearn to find the place where we belong, where we're loved. We don't choose who these people would be, we love others for what they are, not what they represent, or what side of the conflict they come from. And if loving my enemy is treason, I’ll gladly go down as a traitor."
Niccolo glanced back, meeting the eyes of the one he had dedicated this speech to. Hange caught Sasha’s bewildered, loving look and smiled, feeling her eyes go misty.
So, Marleyan and Eldian? Was a union like that even possible? Four years ago, on the dawn of the day when she left the one she loved the most behind, she'd say that it would never work out. But... times were changing, right? For the better, or so, at least, Hange hoped.
"Hange-san..." Moblit crouched beside her, painfully awkward. "Erm..."
Oh right. Only now, Hange realized that she was still lying on the floor. And that in on itself wasn't so unusual, but most of the times... she didn't have a ten or so pairs of eyes watching her.
Hange cleared her throat. Then, as absurdity of the situation caught up with her, snickered quietly.
"Hey, Gab," she stroked the girl's side. "Would you mind letting me get up?"
Gabi rose on her elbows, considering Hange. The frown on her face didn't vanish, but— her eyes weren't so full of rage anymore - clearly, the speeches had left an impression on her.
"I'm still mad at you," she said, lip stuck out petulantly. "But... I'm glad that you're here. Because it means they're coming for us, right? Commander Magath and Reiner— Reiner will save us, right? We just need to wait for a little longer, until they arrive."
They're already here, Hange wanted to say. If Pieck came, there was no way that Reiner would want to sit that one out— or be allowed to, anyway. Marley was coming, their guns blazing. But in the room full of members of the Survey Corps and Queen herself, Hange couldn’t say that, wasn’t yet ready to betray her country like that. She could only kiss Gabi's brow and promise, "You will be alright."
Reassured, Gabi nodded and let Hange get up. As soon as her feet had touched the ground, Hange found herself with someone once again wrapped around her. This time, however, the embrace was that much warmer and a lot less violent.
"Falco," she carded her fingers through his sandy blonde hair. "I take it you've missed me too?"
"You can't imagine," he spoke, his face pressed to her stomach. "Going on missions with Gabi is a torture! I could barely keep up with her!"
"You'll learn with time," Hange looked back, exchanging a look with Moblit. "It's not that hard to deal with annoying shits like us, right, Mob?"
He tugged at his collar, strategically evading her curious eyes. "Perhaps, after a very long while..." he reached out, patting Falco's shoulder. "And with the help of a good alcohol stash."
"Oi!" Hange slapped his arm. "He's only a kid!"
Moblit shrugged. "He has to know what is waiting for him."
"Don't listen to him," she gently consoled Falco. "He's joking."
Although... Hange had to agree with Moblit on that. If Falco continues running after Gabi like that, he'd have his first grey hair by the age of fifteen.
With the boy still clinging to her, Hange surveyed the room, swiping her gaze across Sasha and Niccolo, who stood side by side, wearing identical, enamored expressions, to Connie and Jean, who were whispering something to one another, and finally to Mikasa and Armin, who hid Historia behind their backs.
Right. She didn't come here for a cheerful reunion. The fate of the world was at stake. Hange pulled herself together and— pulled Falco away from her.
"Sorry, dear," she fondly ruffled his hair once again. "I need to go now, but I'll get back to you."
Could she do, though? Could she return to these kids, ask them to be placed under her care? Should she do it, considering that she didn't even know what was going to happen to her, where would she be one hour from now? Was it wise then to drag kids along with her? They were sharp and strong, more than capable, and they did survive on their own for so long— wait.
How did they manage to survive on a foreign soil, all by themselves? And why they were here today, in Niccolo's restaurant of all places?
"I guess these ducklings are yours?"
Oh. The familiar man that Hange had never seen was back, now standing in front of Hange, showing her a kind smile.
"We haven't been introduced, but it's hard to mistake you for someone else. Hange Zoe, right?"
"Right," Hange shook his warm, calloused hand. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Braus."
"The accent was a dead giveaway, huh?" he laughed, the corners of his eyes crinkling. He had a nice laugh, Hange decided, deep, heartfelt and genuine. She liked Mr. Braus, just as much as she liked his daughter.
"I understand that you're the one who had taken care of my ducklings," Hange giggled, catching Gabi's very much unamused look. "Thank you for that."
"And thank you for saving my daughter's life. For that deed I could never repay you."
"That was... that was nothing. I did nothing, just happened to be in the right place, in the right time."
"It's only because of you that we're here, celebrating, instead of mourning. So," he gripped her shoulder tightly, his brown eyes staring into hers intently. "Let me express my gratitude, for that is the smallest thing that I can do."
"I think," Connie inserted himself between them, his mischievous smile lighting up the room. "This calls for a toast!"
No more than a second later, Jean had produced a bottle of wine, opening it swiftly and skillfully. Once the bottle was dealt with, he filled a glass with wine, thrusting it to the person standing closest to him. Which— happened to be Gabi.
She took all but a tentative sniff from the glass, before it was roughly yanked out of her hands. The drink splashed everywhere as Falco hurried to finish it, before Gabi caught up and took it away from him.
There was just as a couple of droplets left, everyone watched the scene in amusement, until—
Until Niccolo screamed.
He pounced from his place, wrestling the bottle out of Jean’s hands. “It’s not for you, morons! I told you not to touch it!”
Ice spread through Hange’s veins, as she heard the desperation in his voice. If her first thought was the right one… she had to make sure of it immediately.
“Who that wine was meant for?” she seethed, grabbing Niccolo by lapels of his shirt, suffocating him in her white-knuckled grip and currently not caring about it. Everyone in the room tensed, Sasha jumping closer to them, but Hange didn’t care, ignored all of them completely. “Who that wine was meant for?” she shouted, shaking the boy like a ragdoll.
“F-for the military officials! It’s the good stuff, expensive, it was meant only for them!”
The good stuff, the best one they got, Hange reasoned. The next question was pointless, she knew the answer already, was the one who came up with this idea in the first place, but— Niccolo was a good guy, a sweet boy in love with a kind girl. Hange wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
“What’s wrong with the wine?”
And that was it. That’s all she had to do to get to the bottom of it. One short, simple question, and Niccolo crumbled. He didn’t try to fight her, made no attempts to protect himself. He hanged his head in shame, avoiding the dozen pairs of eyes that now were boring into him.
“They made me do it,” he whispered, his hands, his lips— his whole body shaking. “I had no choice, you wouldn’t understand—”
Oh, but Hange did understand. Better than Niccolo knew. She knew how it felt to be forced to follow the current, accept every cruel tide. She knew just how frustrating, how painful it was to lose control.
So yeah, Hange understood. But she could not excuse.
However, she had no place to judge as well, she herself was a reason for so many tragedies and disasters. She couldn’t judge, and she didn’t have the time for it. The deed was already done, now they had to try and undo it.
“Who gave you the orders?”
The spine fluid, injected into wine, came from Zeke, that Hange had no doubt about, but Zeke was far away, deep in the forest, under Levi’s watchful eyes. So who had redistributed the wine? Who was the betrayer, the real culprit?
“It’s—”
He didn’t get to finish. For only now Hange had realized what had happened moments prior. Falco drank the wine. Falco. Drank. The. Wine.
Her heart thumping, Hange pushed Niccolo away, grabbing Falco’s hand instead. Armin, Mikasa, the Queen, let someone else deal with that shit, for now she had to try and delay the inevitable. She looked around, her eyes wild, mind racing. “Where— where is the bathroom or— or a—”
“I’ll show you.”
It was Moblit’s quiet, reassuring voice. He gripped her elbow gently, taking her away. Hange let herself be led, rubbing soothing circles into Falco’s palm all the while. She didn’t know what do, wasn’t even sure that spinal fluid can be taken out of someone’s system, but she’d be damned if she wouldn’t at least try. Falco, sweet, smart Falco, he didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve to be turned into a Titan, a mindless creature with no loyalties and feelings. Hange wouldn’t allow it, she was ready to do the impossible and then more to save the little boy.
Once they reached the bathroom, Hange set out to work - took off her coat, rolled the sleeves of her shirt, sat Falco down on a stool, pushed his head under the faucet, instructed him to try and rinse all the wine out.
It was possibly entirely pointless, Hange was pretty sure of it— but. What else could she do? Sit tightly and wait for the young life to vanish?
"That thing in the wine..." Moblit spoke up - calmly, but defeated, as though he had already surrendered to whatever tragedy that would befall him. "It's bad, isn't it?"
Hange tensed. Hange jumped to her feet, fisting her hand into Moblit's shirt so desperately, the fabric creaked in protest.
"Moblit," she croaked, her voice shaking, broken, eyes begging him to say that he was joking, that his inquiry was simple curiosity. "Moblit, did you drink that wine?"
"It was served at every government meeting. I couldn't refuse."
No. No. Hange couldn't believe, didn't want to believe it, Moblit— not Moblit, she didn't want him to fall victim to this, become another casualty in her long, extremely bloody career. Anyone else, but not— not him.
"It's the same tactic we used in Ragako village," she explained numbly. "Back then it was gas, this time the fluid that turns people into Titans was added into wine. It activates after Zeke screams."
"Ah," Moblit shook his head, a faint smile on his lips. "If - when - I turn, you could experiment on me. Just— don't give me a stupid name like Sawney or Bean, I'd like, I think, I'd like to be called Moblit. If I'd still have some semblance of consciousness by that time, if not - you can call me whatever you—"
"Shut up." Hange choked, tears gathering in the corners of her eyes. She ignored them, glaring fiercely at him. "Shut the fuck up, Moblit, you will not turn into a Titan, I will not allow it, I'll do whatever I can—"
"Hange-san," he smiled, and it broke her heart. "It will be okay."
It won't. Because it was her damn creation, made to defeat faceless, unknown enemies. And now it was used against people she cared about.
She had to do something about it. With a start Hange realized that the solution was... fairly easy.
"Avoid Zeke at all costs." She told Moblit, urgency turning her speech more frantic. "Don't go near him, try— try to get away if he gets into city—"
But Zeke couldn't get into the city. Zeke couldn't get out of the forest at all, couldn't make a single move without Levi knowing it.
Levi was the solution. He would keep Zeke under his guard, he would keep Moblit, and the rest of them, safe. Hange finally could take a breath.
But the calm didn't last for long.
As soon as she returned to Falco's side to check on the boy's condition, a loud crash came from somewhere deep within the restaurant. Hange heard the sound of hurried footsteps, then a concerning scream.
She exchanged a look with Moblit. Both of them started running at the same moment.
When they tumbled inside the main room, they froze in shock.
Sasha's family, members of Survey Corps and among them— soldiers with rifles. Hange scanned the room once more, her eyes travelling further, to the table by the window. She breathed out in relief - Historia was guarded by Connie and Jean. At least, the Queen was safe.
But not the rest of them.
"Squad Leader Moblit," the ginger head took a step towards them, a too wide smile plastered on his face. Hange didn't like that man and his smile. And the gun in his hands. The gun that was now aimed at the ceiling but could be very well aimed at Moblit, or anyone else in that room. “You’re the one I need.”
Moblit inched closer too, his chin held high and eyes defiant. Hange didn’t miss the fact that his movement hid her behind his broad shoulders. Oh, loyal, caring Moblit. How could she leave him to his fate?
“I’m here,” he leveled to the redhead. “What do you need me for, Floch?”
If it wasn’t for the gun in his hands, or the smile on his face, the way Moblit spelled his name – the obvious aversion, unhidden contempt was enough for Hange to understand that this Floch guy wasn’t very nice. And, despite the Wings of Freedom on his back, he certainly wasn’t Moblit’s friend.
So. That was one of the famed Yeagerists? And the rest of them, the ones that held civilians on gunpoint were the part of the same group? Hange was so not impressed.
“You’re buddies with Captain Levi,” Floch continued. “That means you know exactly where he is hiding.”
“Perhaps.” Moblit nodded. “But what makes you think that I will tell you?”
Floch’s smile grew, and the gun that was held lazily in his hand, pointing at the empty air, moved. It was lowered down, its barrel now staring right at Moblit. But the gun didn’t stop there, it moved again, shifting just a little to the side. To where Hange was standing.
“Hange Zoe, right?” Floch tilted his head, so he could look straight at her. “I didn’t have the pleasure to make your acquaintance before, but I’m glad that life threw us all together. Especially now, for you see…” he lifted a hand, and a soldier took his place, his rifle raised, while Floch paced from side to side. “I’m not allowed to hurt them,” first he pointed at Jean and Connie. “Or her,” now at Historia. “I’m, however, allowed to do with the others whatever I want. And since hurting our dear Squad Leader Moblit wouldn’t bear the needed results…” he spread his arms, shrugging helplessly. “No one would miss a traitor, right?”
“Don’t you dare!” Moblit surged forward, shoulders shaking from the unbridled fury. But he made no more than a few steps, before he was immobilized, two soldiers coming from behind to grab his arms and twist them painfully. Moblit didn’t back up even then, continuing his fierce resistance. “Leave her out of this!”
“Ah, yes,” Floch chuckled to himself, observing Moblit’s struggling with morbid fascination. “The luck is surely on our side today. You will be useful after all, Hange Zoe. We will take you with us.”
No sooner than these words left his mouth, Hange felt a pair of hands around her, subduing and enabling to make a single move. She thrashed, she kicked, but to no avail.
“Floch—” Moblit grounded, pulling on his restraints.
“Don’t you worry,” Floch squeezed Moblit’s shoulder, showing him a look of feigned affection. “No one is going to get hurt, if you cooperate.”
No. They couldn’t cooperate. Cooperating meant leading Floch and his bunch to Zeke, and that meant leading them to Levi.
“Mob! Don’t listen to him! We can’t–” instinctively, momentarily forgetting about the arms that held her down, Hange reached out to him, trying to catch his eyes.
But Moblit turned his face to the other side, avoiding her gaze. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled. “I can’t let you get hurt.”
Ah. Hange’s heart sunk, while Floch clasped his hands in delight.
“I’m glad you’ve made the right choice! And now,” he raised a finger, and Hange with Moblit were forced to move forward. “Let’s get going!”
___
Outside, the weather changed. The sun hid behind the heavy, grey clouds, the rain was now steadily falling down, creating puddles under their feet.
The gloomy weather further enhanced the trepidation inside Hange. The feeling, the certainty that something was going to get very wrong and very fast persisted, forcing her to grab the reins of the horse tighter, in vain hope of providing some miniscule outlet to her ever growing anxiety.
Despite the fear, Hange spurred her horse forward, doing her best to ignore the rifles pointed at her back. It was proving to be quite a vexing task, when the said rifles kept pushing her to move even faster but— it wasn’t the worst situation Hange had found herself in. That time when she and Zeke were captured by the enemy forces and put inside a fortified prison was so much worse. The prison had anti-Titan artillery surround the perimeter, they were alone and cut off from their allies. And still they managed to escape. Compared to that, a few Yeagerists were nothing.
Although, Hange had to admit – the stories did them no justice. In reality they were a lot more vile and disgusting.
But, apparently, Levi still trained some of them. And, boy, did he teach them well. One soldier behind Hange kept huffing, cursing the weather under his breath. Hange waited, and when he once again got distracted by the mud that splashed on his boot, she thanked Levi for his absurd obsession with cleanliness and acted, stealing that little moment for herself.
“Hey,” she leaned closer to Moblit who was riding right beside her, and whispered to him in a voice just slightly louder than the sound of the rain. “Remember that thing we did during Erwin’s coup-d'etat?”
Moblit winced, anxiety reflecting in his eyes. “When we punched people that were armed with rifles?”
Hange grinned. Atta boy, of course, he remembered. “I’ll give you a signal,” she nodded discreetly and returned to her previous position, now directing all of her attention on their fearless, redheaded leader.
“So Zeke is your main goal, right? You don’t actually need Historia?”
Floch scoffed, rising his nose up in distain. “The Queen is a back-up plan.” Wow, getting information out of them was that easy? Some devoted followers they were. Hange continued listening, eager to know what else Floch would reveal. “We’re not sure what exactly is going to happen, and Eren… doesn’t like hurting his friends.”
They weren’t sure what was going to happen. Only for these words Hange was ready to throttle each and one of them. What was going to happen? Mass destruction and death, a lot of unnecessary deaths.
But did these children care? Of course, they didn’t.
And would Zeke care about it? Hange wasn’t sure. Zeke was many things – cruel, violent, heartless, he never cared that much about other people. However, he was his father’s son, and, as much as he had loathed Grisha Yeager, Zeke still carried around the hero complex that his father fought so hard to plant inside him. Was it possible then that Zeke would be against the rumbling? Was it possible that he didn’t know of Eren’s true intention, that he blindly trusted his little brother?
Was it possible that their goals didn’t align? If so… then Zeke was a key player in this game of chess. He was a powerful figure they had to get on their side. If Hange could talk to him—
A loud sound, a crashing bang interrupted the flow of her thoughts, making her jump in the saddle.
That noise, it was similar to a thunder, but not quite. Hange knew that sound all too well, was the one who created the devise that was activated with the very same sound.
It couldn’t be— that noise couldn’t come from a thunder spear explosion. But… what other explanation was there?
“Let’s head there!” Floch commanded. “Something must have happened.”
Hange’s heart raced as they inched closer and closer to the place where the sound had come from. It wasn’t hard to find, the gory sight of the poor, wounded horse and the blasted cart was easy to spot.
They approached it slowly, and suddenly Hange froze, her eyes landing on something near the riverbank. Something that looked a lot like a body – a short one with strong stature and black hair—
“Moblit,” she whispered, begging him to clear her suspicions, to reassure her that she was mistaken.
But Moblit pursed his lips, and shook his head – brief, but resolute.
For a second, Hange froze, overcome with desperation and fear. Her heart stopped too, if just for a moment.
Levi, he couldn’t— but what if he did?
Ignoring the insistent shouts and strict orders to come back, Hange jumped off the horse, scrambling to get closer to the riverbank and to him.
She fell into the mud, uncaring of her clothes, of the mud she was splashing around. She felt nothing, the rain, the river, her captors, it all faded into background. She cared for nothing else, except the limp body in her hands.
Oh, please, please, please.
Her hands trembled as she turned the body to face her, careful as she could be. A bloody mess, her personal nightmare stared right back to her.
And in that moment— Hange felt her heart break, ripping, shuttering into thousands pieces. She thought she knew loss before, she thought she knew what pain was.
She was so wrong.

4 times Buck and Eddie pretend to have sex to get rid of someone + 1 time there's no need to pretend
prompt
1) Shannon Diaz
You see, the first time it happened it was totally an accident and misunderstanding (not that Eddie complains how the things turned out in the end).
Shannon just showed up after leaving Christopher (and him) a few years ago. And it seems like she not only wanted to see Chris but expected to get back together with Eddie like there’s no bad blood between them. And that was a firm Nope. No, he does not want to have anything to do with her. He’s not sure he wants to let her into Christopher’s life after her abrupt leave. For Christ’s sake, she didn’t even call to check how their son is doing! What did she expect? A warm welcome? He ranted about this to Buck.
So, the second time she shows up, unannounced, might he add, Buck is conveniently at Diazes’ house. Both of them just came back from 24 hour shift. Chris is at Abuela’s still. So when Shannon comes over she did not expect the half naked guy to open the door to her (technically) husband’s house. He looks like he just came out of the shower and before she can say (yell) anything (like “who the hell are you and what are you doing here undressed like that?”) Eddie comes from down the hall in only a fucking towel.
Eddie: Cariño, who’s there?
Shannon is speechless. She knows enough Spanish to understand this. In all the time that they were together Eddie never called her sweetheart. And by the looks of it she does not need any context here, it’s pretty much obvious what they were doing.
She leaves abruptly without a word, forgetting to ask after Christopher. It is obvious that their marriage is officially over.
Both men quickly guessed to what conclusion she might have came. It was hilarious. And incredibly convenient for Eddie. Buck didn’t mind the assumptions at all.
2) Taylor Kelly
The second time it happened because Buck panicked. Taylor Kelly was at the station. Eddie is not a fan, Buck is not as well. She shamelessly flirts with Buck ignoring the fact that he looks extremely uncomfortable because of her attention. The reporter just does not get a hint. Buck hides in a locker room, that’s where Eddie finds him. He’s freaking out and practically begs Eddie to help him to get rid of Taylor. And Diaz is totally on board with that (not to mention that he might have sought Evan with familiar suggestion).
Eddie just finished working out which helps to reinforce their act. His hair is sticking out like someone ran their fingers through it. And he’s flushed and sweaty, perfect. Buck, though, doesn’t look convincing. So Eddie has some ideas™. They’ve been friends for a few months and they got close quickly. Some might say they ended up real close. They liked to kid around and were shameless and sometimes had no boundaries concerning each other. It felt natural. So Eddie gave Buck some hickeys, both of them giggling the whole time while doing it. Buck gave Eddie some too, you know, to make it look real.
After the dynamic duo’s impromptu departure and then their sudden appearance, firefighters of 118 took a note of how Taylor Kelly was pissed and acted even more bratty than before. She stopped chasing (because that’s what it looked like) Buck and left station with her crew soon after. The team sighed in relief.
No one said anything about hickeys because everyone is used to Buddie’s weird behavior.
3) Abby Clark
The third time, Buck was a bit oblivious when it happened. After Abby came back to LA, and with a fiancé no less, Buck was moody. Not because he missed her (that ship sailed a long time ago), but because he was annoyed and pissed at her behavior. He talked at length with Eddie about his abandonment issues and how Abby contributed to it.
She wanted to talk. Buck did not. Abby kept calling Buck a few times a day but he never picked up.
Then one evening, after a long shift, Eddie and Buck were hanging out at his loft. Evan was a bit distracted at the moment. You see, his bad leg was hurting so Eddie was giving him a massage, it was a normal occurrence. So when Abby fucking Clark called again Buck wasn’t mindful of what kind of sounds he made or what he was saying while answering.
Eddie: Is this ok?
Buck: Of course it is! Fuck, don’t stop, Eddie.
Buck asked what did she want and please, stop calling me, I’m busy.
Abby was mortified. She finally left Evan Buckley alone. Her apologies were too late and not needed anymore.
Though Buck was oblivious at first, Eddie certainly knew what he was doing and how did it sound to Abby. He was a little bit petty, so what? Plus when Buck realized what did they sound like they lost it again. It was like that time with Shannon. When they told the team about it they lost it too, for different reasons though.
4) Ana Flores
The fourth and last time it happened, it turned real.
Eddie was seeing Ana for a few short months, frankly speaking, he didn’t know why he asked her out. She was pretty (not completely his type tho) and nice at first, then she started to act snobbish. They had nothing in common, and she creeped him out after their math date™ or whatever the fuck she tried to turn it into. Ana was pushy about being intimate when he hadn’t felt any sort of attraction to her. He thought maybe it was because she was practically a stranger and they needed time, but she was adamant on getting into his pants and he noped right out of this, because fuck if he was going to let someone to pressure him into doing anything he didn’t want to.
He told Buck about this shit and he suggested to break this thing off and fast, this is not healthy.
So Eddie broke up with Ana the morning the shooting happened after she snooped around on GoFundMe site. Evan was aware of the break up.
So imagine Eddie’s frustration when he was getting discharged and Ms Flores thought it was a brilliant idea to show up and try to convince him to start over.
Eddie got the message from Hen that Ana was coming to his room at the hospital (let’s say Hen was there restocking the ambulance when she noticed her). Buck was trying to help Eddie dress into sweatpants when the door opened and Eddie had a second to come up with their usual plan of making people to fuck off. He put his hand on Buck’s neck and quietly asked him to play along.
Ana determined to make Edmundo see reason and get back together was quite shocked at what she saw. Evan (his best friend, she should have known) was on his knees before Edmundo who definitely wasn’t wearing pants and moving his head quite enthusiastically, while Edmundo looked down with the dark eyes and the hottest expression on his face (she wished he looked at her like that). She should have known this was the reason he was so harshly refusing to get intimate with her. Edmundo was fooling around with Evan this whole time! How many times did they do this behind her back? How dare they?
And yeah, Ms Flores never entertained the thought that she might have been the problem all along and she had some creepy vibes (many of her exes can attest to that).
Embarrassed and angry that another one of her relationships ended in disaster, she stormed away.
The thing is that during their little play Buck actually slipped Eddie’s boxers off, not that Eddie minded. They promptly forgot about Ana or anything else.

Chapter 3: Expectations
It was bitterly cold outside the burrow, and you wondered if winter had come early. Your icy hands clenched your sides, refusing to go back inside even if your knuckles burned and your bare feet began to crack from the hardness of the grass on your soles.
You walked on the grass feeling the dew wetting your fingertips. On the other side of the garden the gnomes were burying one of Molly's ornaments with what, you guessed, the woman would be very angry when she found out, but no more than she already was. Molly's words were harsh. Even if her intention was not to make you feel bad, she had managed to put a huge weight on your stomach after the fight.
You didn't blame her, it was almost certain that Molly would react that way, however, you hoped that within her there was a bit of empathy for the situation you were experiencing with your family. It wasn’t easy for anyone to go through a war that could have been avoided in one way or another, however, for the Grants it was an even more difficult challenge knowing that the trigger for such a war was grandpa Tim Grant's half brother.
You walked around the house, crossing the barnyard, watching the chickens peck at a rubber boot on a very rusty cauldron. The cornfield grasses moved with the wind at the same rate. From right to left, right to left, right to left and then they changed the rhythm from left to right, left to right, left to right ...
The barn was just behind the thick grass rising into an old stone sty, which had several crooked stories attached to it. Four or five chimneys dotted the roof of the cellar, and most likely the entire building was held up by magic due to its crazy bolt-on construction. You took a look back at the main entrance of the house where you could hear the voices of Bill's brothers next to Molly's, deciding to get away from the Weasleys before starting a new fight.
You crossed the cornfield finding a pond full of frogs that you dodged with a little scream and a ballerina jump. Then you came across an old broom shed that was half stowed and a pervasive smell. You headed there, thinking of helping out with the cleaning and wasting some time in the process until William came home from the ministry in the early afternoon.
The brooms were on top of each other in a corner of the shed where the garden gnomes used them to play with each other. One of the gnomes had gotten a match with which he had managed to light a couple of strands of the broom of one of the twins -You knew it because each of the brooms had the initials of Molly's children painted on the base. That one had a huge G in the center - which soon expanded into the rest of the broom's dark fibers. You immediately turned it off earning yourself a tiny kick from the gnome.
The smoke from the fire mixed with dust, and the foul smell of expired wax made your eyes water . You wondered vaguely when was the last time that place had been cleaned up, however, the density of the raised dust and the rottenness of the broom wax on the floor told you about the nonexistence maintenance of the shed. The orchard was contained within a paddock, so you assumed there would be no problem cleaning it up later.
You collected each thing by hand placing them where you thought they should go. You finished cleaning the shed earlier than expected, securing the door when exiting to prevent the gnomes from entering and destroying everything again.
You continued your way in a straight line until you reached the barn where a thick layer of dust hid the doorknob. You opened the warehouse with your wand finding the worst scenario ever imagined. The walls were hidden in ghastly cobwebs, the shelves were clothed in huge mountains of dust, and Muggle stuff were strewn everywhere. Mr. Weasley's old Ford Anglia was on the left side of the barn,  storing certain flying objects that you couldn't recognize from the cloud of dust that rose and entered to your eyes.
Well, that seemed like an even bigger challenge than the shed on the other side of the garden. You started by washing the car using your wand to launch several aguamentis causing a waterfall of mud falling from the roof to the fender. Then the car doors flapped open like a pair of wings, letting out the flying objects. You raised your wand by closing the barn door blockig them the exit and initiating a chase that lasted a couple of hours to catch each object, throw it inside the Ford Anglia and finish polishing the hood before the flying, spoiled car got upset.
You forgot the last time you helped your household servants clean a simple fireplace ornament. Years before, when you were little and your brothers liked to spend time together, you helped the butler to clean some objects in the house because it was more fun when you formed competitions between you, Anthon and Margaret to know which of you cleaned the house ¿faster . You had fun and old Alfred got less tired. But that was a long time ago and in the present you didn’t remember what was the proper order of cleaning.
You were lugging box after box for several hours getting a terrible allergy in the process. The last box was made of recyclable paper where you put Mr. Weasley's old newspapers and Molly's worn recipes. You carried them to the fourth shelf from the right, previously cleaned, raising it with both hands. A speck of dust flew across the room, stopping on your nose causing you to sneeze so hard you fell backwards with the box on your face. The papers flew around the corners causing a disaster worse than the initial one.
“Shit”
You stayed lying on the floor taking the box off your face staring at the ceiling. Undoubtedly that would be a difficult life without anyone to help you doing the things more than yourself, however you were willing to try ‘cause you didn’t want to return home where things were simple but with a high cost. You weren't sure you wanted to trade your freedom for a few extra comforts. You let out a sigh ready to stand up when a singular sheet of a recent newspaper flew towards you, stopping on your chest. You caught a glimpse of a fairly familiar photograph in the ink, so you took the paper and read:
"Dark Mark sparks panic." Muggle family murdered.  Death Eaters numbers grow”  Your hands trembled over the paper, caressing each of the words, reading them over and over again. The weight on your stomach grew and grew, as if it were suddenly going to explode. A huge picture of uncle Tom stood in the middle, with that toothless grin and throbbing nostrils “Merlin’s beard”
Your fingers tingled, and you couldn't help but run your touch over your uncle's face trying to think how he got to that point. Grandpa Tim never talked so much about his half brother and you never had the courage to ask him even if the curiosity was eating your insides. There were few times where Tom Riddle's presence was in the family conversations and if that happened, then your father changed the topic from one second to another. It was annoying living in the shadows, but it was even more to be tied to a cause that no one sympathized with, not even his own brother. But Tim Grant was reserved, perhaps too reserved. Maybe that was the reason why he allowed the actions of his little brother to escalate to those levels and allowed too that his only son had choose the wrong side. However, you didn’t understand - or support - Voldemort's ambitions, neither did your grandpa and that cost you to be rejected by the rest of your family.
Your eyes watered and you didn't know if it was because of guilt or if the damn dirt had entered your eyelids. You looked at the ceiling in the haze. You searched your mind and realized that the situation affected you too much. You weren't welcome with the Weasleys, nor with the Grants. You felt desolate, as if the barn walls were closing in on you.
Molly's reaction was valid, you repeated yourself as many times as you could, because anyone who had lost a large part of it’s family to a member of another's would have done the same thing or something so much worse. You shook your head, once again feeling the rejection you were used to.
The barn door opened suddenly, letting in a gust of wind hitting your body directly on the ground. Your skin prickled from the cold causing the newcomer to laugh.
You looked up to find yourself face to face with the distorted figure of Arthur Weasley who was holding a couple of drinks along with a weird smile that made you laugh. The man sat on the floor next to you leaving the glass next to your face.
"I'm sorry I scared you. it’s freezing cold out there and in my defense, nobody comes to this place”
“It’s okay, I wasn't expecting visitors”
"Fine, then" Arthur took a sip of his drink licking his chapped lips, but still showing you that smile so much like Bill's. You folded the newspaper on your lap, nervous. "So ... what are you doing lying in my barn?"
"I ... I was trying to clean this place up”
"Is that so? ‘cuz It seemed like you were about to take a nap."
“Yeah, i had a little mishap here”
"I see, do you want to get up?"
"Yes, thank you." Arthur held out his hand, slowly pulling you up to leave you sitting in front of him. He offered you the drink and you clinked glasses before drinking. It was hot chocolate, you guessed, made by Molly. Your stomach churned.
Mr. Weasley glanced around the barn, surprised to see more than half perfectly arranged
“This place hasn't been so clean since Bill was born”
“Sorry?
"No, no, it's okay," he mentioned, waving to play it off, "Molly had been asking me for a long time to do it, so I think you just made my job easier."
"It's nothing, Mr. Weasley
"Did you see something you liked?"
"Uh, yeah," you answered wiping your lips. "Ignoring the fact that your car almost killed me, I noticed that you have a lot of muggle stuff."
“Ah, yes. They are fascinating, don't you think?”
"Certainly, but I also realized that most of them are useless, why do you still have them here?"
"I like to collect them," he replied, taking another sip of his drink. You mimicked his action “to be honest, I don't even have a clue how these things works, but I suppose I'll find out in time. Muggle devices are not as advanced as ours, much less functional, however, I find them entertaining and special somehow, did you know that they use a subway to transport themselves underground? And they must leave coins in a machine so that they give them a little ticket. A ticket! The first time I used one I was deadly excited!
You smiled, imagining how it would to see Mr. Weasley that happy
"I could help you understand how they work." You winced when Arthur looked at you with wide eyes. "My ... my grandfather lived with Muggles for a while and knows a lot about this artifacts. Several times he spoke of his usefulness to my brothers and me”
“Fantastic!” He replied cheerfully. You smiled “It's wonderful (Y/N), thank you”
“No problem”
Then a silence settled between you, being cut off only by the babble of the gnomes outside the barn kicking the timbers trying to get inside. Arthur cleared his throat as he ran his little blue eyes over each of the walls of his newly renovated barn. He smiled again placing one of his hands on your shoulder
"I found out what happened with Molly in the morning," he mentioned. You nodded “My children told me what you said to each other and ...”
"I'm sorry I spoke badly to your wife, Mr. Weasley" you interrupted, sipping your glass all at once, leaving it on the floor. "I know after this I'll have to talk to William and find another place to stay."
“She is not like that. She rarely has such behavior with the people and I can only think that my Molly has a lot of mixed feelings. The war has us all nervous and the fact that the memories of the past have arisen again ... they make her have reactions that are not very usual in Molly.”
"I'm not blaming her. I think she's right”
“Why?”
"What I did to my family ... running away, betray them..." You started playing with your fingers on your lap, embarrassed. "It's not something a trustworthy person would do."
“What are you talking about?”
“For the Grants, it’s very important to support the family in their endeavors without stopping to think if that could be harmful to the others. With uncle Tom becoming the most dangerous dark wizard of all times ... people would think that his relatives would follow his steps and they did “Mr. Weasley listened attentively, ignoring the screams of his wife announcing that the food was ready “At least most of them. Now all of us are tied to the He-who-must-not-be-named, whether we want it or not. It ruined our lives and I couldn't stay in that place forever
"Why aren't you on his side?"
"Because I can't see my brothers make a wrong decision" You crumpled the newspaper with your hands looking at how the pic of Lord Voldemort turned into a streaked stain "I have my own convictions, even if you don’t believe so”
"I don't believe anything of you, (Y/N)" Arthur's voice turned stoic as he stared at you harshly. "Neither the good nor the bad. I am a believer that you should judge someone by what demonstrates, not by what it’s said about them. Right now you aren’t showing me anything but that there is something in your family that you don’t like and that the dirt in my barn is intolerable to you”
You smiled
"We're all here waiting to see what are you capable of. Good or bad, you get to decide who (Y/N) Grant is from now on. Starting over. Forget that the Grants' actions make you worthy of the consequences”
Warmth attacked your chest. It was comforting to feel for the first time the acceptance of someone who wasn't doing it out of mere compassion or that it was Bill. That Arthur gave you the benefit of the doubt encouraged you to continue as before: trying, trying, trying.
"I think his wife doesn't think the same."
Arthur Weasley patted your shoulder.
"I'll talk to her, she'll understand. Meanwhile let's go home, it's time for lunch”
"Did Bill come back?"
"Yes, my son and I came back from the ministry a while ago.He wanted to find you, but I asked him to let me do it. You know, because sometimes it's good to have the daughters-in-law on your side”
Your cheeks heated up and then the rest of your face turned completely red. Arthur studied your reaction, smiling as he realized you were just a kid looking for approval. He patted your shoulder again, inviting you to leave the rest of the mess and accompany him to the burrow.
"These aren’t a good times to trust the Daily Prophet," Arthur mentioned, noticing the crumpled newspaper in your hands. You skipped the pond and skirted the cornfield until you reached the garden entrance where Bill's brothers and Bill himself had set up a long table near Molly's apple tree where they planned to spend the afternoon. One of the twins raised his wand putting the cuterly across the table, one set for each of the family members. You wondered if there would be a place for you at the table “Honestly, these are not good times to trust anything or anyone, so if you accept my advice, don't worry too much about reading the newspapers, they will leave you more questions than answers, Hey, you will break that!
Arthur scolded his twins when they fiddled with forks in a battle to find out which of them would wash the dishes after eating. Arthur ran towards them while Bill approached you greeting you with a kiss on the cheek. He frowned, watching you closely and then removed his coat, draping it over your shoulders.
"What the hell were you doing outside without a sweater?" It's freezing!”
"You worry way too much," you told him, pressing the faux fur against your shivering body. The truth was that, after the exchange of words with Bill's mother, you didn’t have the time to get a sweater before leaving and of course your wounded pride wouldn’t let you get dressed again before going to hide in the barn. Bill clicked his tongue rubbing your arms. "I'm fine, I just lost track of the time cleaning your father's barn and I didn't feel the cold until now”
"You're bad at lying, did you know that?"
"You should stop asking so many questions." You smiled at the grimace on the older Weasley's face. "Nothing happened."
"That's not what the twins told me," he suddenly mentioned. You felt the tension in Bill's body when Molly passed by him giving you a dangerous look, however you decided to ignore it for the good of both of you “ What my mom said ...”
"It’s okay, it doesn't matter I discussed it with your father and we worked it out”
“Are you sure?” You nodded “I hope so. Not because she’s my mother I will let her offend you in any way”
Your smile widened. You couldn't possibly love that man more than you already did. You approached his body, throwing your arms around Bill's neck, having to stand on your tiptoes to reach only to kiss his chin. He lowered his head, managing to bring his lips together.
“Help your brothers set the table, I'll go take a bath”
"Don't you prefer i help you instead?" You laughed
"I can do it by myself, thanks”
"Hmm ... you sure?”
"William ...”
"Okay, okay, okay," he urged you leaving a couple of kisses on the corner of your lips. "Don't be gone too long. i’ll miss you, love."
“I will not. Wait for me just here, yeah?”
You went upstairs to the room you shared with Bill and jumped into the shower enjoying the warmth of the water above your head. You leaned against the tiles thinking that your first day in the burrow had turned out very bad, but better than you had thought. Even if Molly didn't believe your words, you would do your best to fullfil the expectations of the others members of the Order. You would be loyal to them, to the Aurors, and you would fight whoever you had to to prove that your actions were worth more than the rumors surrounding the Grants did.
You were going to prove how wrong they were with you and, incidentally, you would forge a reputation of your own, one of which you would proud of

Landings Through the Grapevine
Chapter 1: Introduction
Masterpost: here

Pairing: Elliott x OC
_________________________
It was a quiet morning in Stardew Valley. Birds were singing faintly in the distance and a hazy mist hung in the air, transforming everything not directly close into blue-ish hues and indistinct shapes. The sun had just risen over the horizon, chasing after the last traces of pink in the otherwise clear, blue sky. Not one cloud was in sight.
This was indeed a pleasant surprise. The villagers had feared for the constant downpour, that has persisted for the last couple of days, to delay the annual spring festivities. But now, only the wet squelching sound under the farmer's boots disrupted the idyllic scenery, as she made her way around the forest clearing, where the annual Flower Dance would be taking place. Undeterred by the early hour, the preparations were going just as planned, though they were far from finished. Riley herself had only a few decorations left to hang up, but they were still waiting on a cart to bring a few chairs and parts of the sound equipment.
A loud continuous thumping echoed over the meadow as Robin was still busy with setting up Pierre's booth. The noise was shortly interrupted, as Robin readjusted the planks she was working on, before spotting the farmer.
“Good morning Riley! Oh, you cleaned up nicely.”, Robin greeted her cheerfully and looked her over. Though Robin had apologized for ever doubting Riley's ability to take over her grandfather's farm, it were comments like these that made conversing with the carpenter a bit difficult. As Riley still didn't know Robin too well, the double meaning of the statement was not lost on her. But today, the farmer wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, hoping that Robin was just a little aloof sometimes.
'Don't rock the boat now. Think about the barn upgrade' .
So, she forced herself to just smile and wave before turning back around and the noise of the hammer picked up again. For the occasion, Riley had indeed ditched her usual overall and stained-shirt combo, in favour of one of her nicer outfits she used to wear back in Zuzu City. The only thing left from her usual farming attire was her sword which, clearly visible on her left hip, marked her as a member of the Adventurer's Guild.
While she had been quite pleased with her decision at first, something about the outfit had triggered a weird feeling. It had taken some time for her to remember, that she had not worn these clothes since the fatal day, that she had quit her job at Joja Corporation. However, by the time Riley had come to that realization, it had been far too late to change into something else. The whole morning, she had tried to push the thought away, as today was supposed to be a good day, after all. The farmer was usually not the person to care much about traditions. Nevertheless, after walking around in clammy work clothes for the past week, even Riley was looking forward to the Flower Dance. It had been a little awkward during her first year, as she had been completely new to the community. And while most villagers had been rather welcoming towards her, it were customs such as the dance that still made her feel like an outsider.
'Well, what do I expect?' , Riley asked herself, while carefully climbing a ladder, to hang a couple of pastel-coloured, flower garlands into the lower branches of a tree. “This is my second year after all. Shane came to live with Marnie and Jas three years ago. Leah and Elliott moved here, roughly around the same time. They might be part of the town now, but otherwise, all of them are kind of outsiders too.” Even so, and the thought made her pause mid task with a snort, that was probably also due to their very  individual  personalities.
“Well, at least someone is having a good morning.”, remarked a deep voice from below. Speaking of the devil. Shane was looking up to her, an unreadable expression on his face and dressed in the traditional sky-blue uniform, all attending Bachelors would be wearing to the dance. In his hands was a bowl of pepper-poppers from which he ate one ever so often, while watching her work.
“Oh wow Shane, I would say you cleaned up nicely too but I might be lying”, Riley replied with a grin, to which Shane just rolled his eyes and kept chewing completely unfazed .
“Fuck you. I know I look just fine, so you can suck it!”, he grouchily mumbled, though it sounded more like he tried to convince himself rather than her. “You sure do, buddy”. Finally happy with her work, Riley descended the ladder to greet her friend properly. “And you would look even better, if you stopped stuffing your face like a pig!”.
“They're my favorite”, he protested childishly and provocatively grabbed another pepper.
“And I spend a lot of time making them all by myself.”
“I helped too”
“No, you flaked to play soccer with Jas and Vincent!”
Shane's expression bore a cheeky grin, probably anticipating to say something rude. But the pair was interrupted by Pierre, calling out for their help to unload the cart that had finally arrived….
Since Marnie was still in a not-so-secret- relationship with Mayor Lewis, she insisted on taking part in the preparations of any official festivity. Many of the dishes, decked onto a couple of large folding tables, had been prepared the previous day at Marnie's farm, with Riley chipping in her labour and even part of her harvest.
“What happened to breakfast, you greedy gremlin?”, asked Riley, saving the half empty bowl from Shane's grasp, to return it to the buffet. The gremlin in question trailed behind, pretending like he was not sulking over the loss of the food:
“As you like to remind me, microwaved pizza is no proper breakfast”. At that Riley raised both eyebrows in mock-astonishment:
“Oh, so now the good sir suddenly cares about what  I have to say ?”
Tumblr media
“So Riley, you're not dancing?”, Marlon asked in between sips of punch.
The sun had risen higher in the sky, and the cool morning had turned into a bright midday. Everything was set up and ready. Soft music played over lively conversation, as bit by bit all villagers arrived. Riley didn't really know what to do with herself, when she could no longer hide behind tasks and actually had to socialize. Seeing Marlon standing in a far corner of the meadow, one hand calmly resting on the hilt of his sword while overseeing the scenery, presented a great excuse to escape dreadful smalltalk. They were well acquainted by now and she had not seen him in a while, other than when she visited the Guild directly. It wasn't too weird, if she made use of that affiliation, right?
If Marlon felt disturbed through her presence he didn't let it show. He just nodded in acknowledgement and together they watched the Spring Maidens enter the clearing, garbed in white from head to toe, with lacy floral decorations sewn onto their dresses and flowers in their hair.
“I think, such ' spirits ' might have other things to worry about right now”.
Unfortunately for her, even Marlon seemed talkative today and Riley answered him reluctantly: “No. As far as I am concerned, the couples dancing stay mostly the same. Wouldn't want to disrupt that order, y'a know”, That was not entirely true, though. The other reason was that a certain someone would most likely turn her down if she'd ever asked him. And Riley was not willing to open THAT can of worms anytime soon. Marlon hummed in understanding: “I see. I just thought, since you're a farmer, you might want to participate.”
“What does being a farmer have to do with that?”
Marlon looked at her, the brow above his remaining eye slightly raised in surprise: ”The flower dance is an ancient fertility ceremony. Back when the village still believed in the spirits of this land, the dance was held to gain their favour for the upcoming harvest. Surely you wouldn't want the spirits that make things grow on your bad side, ey?”.
Riley was not sure what to make of this new piece of information, so the farmer and the monster hunter fell back into silence. Looking around, the meadow didn't really look like an old or magical place to her. It most definitely didn't feel like one either. Compared to the eerie solitude of the Community Center and the claustrophobic depths of the mines, the clearing seemed so very ordinary. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time that the Valley proved to be full of surprises. One year ago, Riley was some disillusioned worker's bee in a corporate nightmare. Now, she belonged to a world where magic was real, wizards lived in secluded towers, monsters hid in the depths of the wild and animals could talk. Or rather, Riley could suddenly talk to them (?). Overall, the land was full of entities and forces, Riley didn't plan to meddle with, let alone offend. For a moment she got worried enough, that she almost asked Marlon directly, if he thought the Junimos would truly be cross with her, for not attending the dance. But she decided against it, as someone might end up overhearing their conversation. Surely, Marlon was one of the few people in Pelican Town, who knew about the otherworldliness of the valley. He had probably seen more than Riley would ever experience in her lifetime. But this wasn't the time and place to talk about such things openly.
“And they better have their priorities straight. If they ever dare giving me shit, for not doing that stupid dance, I'm out. Have fun rebuilding the Community Center without me !”,
was what she did not say. “Besides, wouldn't it look silly to be wearing a sword with such a dress?”, she jokingly gestured in the direction of the Bachelorettes, but to no one in particular. Marlon, again, shortly averted his eyes from the crowd to look at her, in what one might consider to be amusement: “Silly? Kid, that sword is a badge of honour. Of course we wear it to any occasion, men and women alike. Back in the days, Old Linda wouldn't be caught dead not wearing her sword. Also made the lads keep their hands to themselves, if you know what I mean.”, at this he cackled quietly to himself and took another sip.
“What happened to them? Linda and the other women in the guild?”, Riley asked curiously since Marlon rarely was so chatty. “What do you think? This was way before your time. They're probably dead or very old. Some got married, moved to the city and forgot all about their old lives here. ….Your grandma was one of the last”.
Marlon's eyes were back on the gathering, but there was something harsh crossing his features. Riley didn't know what to say. So she just kept watching him in hopes he would elaborate on that. But he remained shrouded in silence. She knew that their conversation was over for good. And knowing Marlon, he wouldn't want to talk about it anytime soon either. So, she tried pushing her questions into the back of her mind and rather focused on the gathering at hand, where the female villagers were now the centre of attention.
The first Bachelorette she saw was the blue haired bar-maid who was hard not to overlook, thanks to her outgoing personality. Emily's dress was full of ruffles and detailed embroidery and made her look even more whimsical. Like a fairy, she was all smiles and joy, half-dancing half skipping over the grass barefoot, as her skirts flowed and billowed along her every movement. If Clint was trying not to stare at her directly, he unfortunately wasn't very good at it. And with concern, Riley noticed the disdain in his eyes when she hugged Shane and started chatting excitedly. Abigail was the polar opposite, in the way she acted all nonchalantly and kept her posture extremely casual. She smirked and rolled her eyes at anyone complimenting her dress, but soon settled into her usual group of friends and as far away from her parents, as physically possible. Haley posed a little to better show off her new dress and happily chatted with Jody and Caroline about the cut and some issues she had with shipping.
Tumblr media
It was then that Riley caught a glimpse of auburn in the crowd and her heart skipped a beat, when she saw Elliott and Leah chatting with Marnie and Harvey. He looked handsome (but then Riley always thought he was) with his blue overcoat complimenting his fair skin tone, while contrasting his coppery hair. Leah, who didn't seem too interested in the conversation at hand, ended up catching her gaze and gave a small wave. Riley felt like she missed a step on a staircase and could hardly control the nervous flutter in her chest, when Elliott turned his head in her direction too. His noble features turned from confused to an amused smile as he spotted her. And just like the gentleman he was, he gave her a courteous nod. Riley could not help, but smile back warmly with butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
It was silly.
But a crush was a crush.
Ever since Elliott had invited her for drinks during a chance meeting at the saloon, Riley had been head over heels for the cocky and slightly eccentric writer. He was charming in his good old fashioned way. Not only did he look like the figurative embodiment of a Jane Austen character. He also played the part: always most polite and private in an outside setting and so very concerned about the impression he made on others. But once rather tipsy, Elliott had been much more forthcoming in what was actually going on in his mind. Riley fondly remembered how she couldn't stop laughing after unexpectedly hearing Elliott say ' shit ' for the first time.
It was nice. …
Just a shame, that his interest in her had not survived the night. While they had parted in good spirits, the next day, their interaction was back to pleasant conversation and occasional discussions on his drafts. Riley respected that. Of course she did. But that didn't stop her from developing quite a passion for fishing, in hopes to see him standing at the docks when battling his usual writer's block. For a moment Elliott looked as if he tried to excuse himself from his current company. He kept looking back at her with, what almost seemed like, impatience as he waited for Harvey to finish talking. But then, Mayor Lewis announced for the dance to begin and Elliot took Leah's hand, to gracefully lead her to the middle of the clearing, along with the other couples.

" Now now Little Dove, I can't avoid her if you don't even know her name. But if I must say it then... Hmm" Keigo's eyes gleamed mischievously at the female in front of him as he uttered a word that made y/n go red with anger .
" Enchantress? "
" Keigo. " Y/n gave him a stern look and he just laughed at her face like it was a joke.
" Listen Kid. Looks like you gotta have another reality check. I can't avoid her because.... " Keigo paused his eyes never leaving y/n's angered face.
" Because? " Y/n growled impatiently as she crossed her arms.
" 1. We're Not even dating but here you are acting like you're MY girlfriend when you're clearly you're.... Not. " Keigo chuckled and y/n who knew that it was a fact flinched; feeling as if a million bricks were dropped on top of her head. The way he said it was like a harsh blow to the gut but she kept her usual strong expression.
" 2. We're working under the same agency so getting paired up with her isn't avoidable... Plus as her hero name states... She is enchanting " Keigo's smirk only grew as y/n's face became flushed with anger. Her eyes burning up dangerously as she gave a venomous glare at Keigo.
" And last but not the least... 3. I'm not interested in a first year kid. So chances of the two of us of ever dating is a Big fat No. Plus I think Enchantress is a lot more prettier than the average and if you ask me... I'd go after adults like her than Kids like you so stop acting like we're---" Although Keigo's Tone was indeed playful and the smirk on his face made it even more clearer. His words stung like hell.
Y/n who was visiting their agency and went straight up to his office to complain had taken in the harsh damages and blows. Yes she may be a first year brat in U.A but was it really terrible to love someone older than her by a few years?.
Apparently she was a little naive in terms of love so when Keigo saved her when she was still in middle school she fell in love. Who wouldn't? He's got undeniable charms, a pretty face , a well sculptured figure but most of all. He made her feel safe and protected, setting she never felt before so when she finally began studying in U.A she decided to pursue Hawks so it was very common for her to come by the agency. Almost everyone knows who she is by now.
So this was the usual; but it was the first time she walked out on Keigo who was still Talking.
Because it was honestly too much. After she confessed to him and started pursuing him, Keigo decided to be a Jerk and gave her a very hard time. When she'd come over to give him lunch he'd purposely fly away and call her to deliver it to a specific place but when she gets there he calls her again to either say that she was taking too long and left or he had 'accidentally' gave the wrong address and he needs her to send it on this one instead.
And he keeps doing that everytime. He even went as far as to go to another town to have her chasing him like a madman. Yet her determination never faltered. Something Hawks had came to acknowledge her for.
He sends her on wild goose chases and one time he gave her 3 wrong addresses even though he was only sitting in his office the whole time.
And if people think his wings are sharp then his words are sharper. He may be sweet to the media or the other people outside but when talking to her, his words are venomous, sarcastic, and over all it's just rude and pretty painful to hear.
How y/n had managed to stand strong until now was a mystery and everyone in the agency had grew to respect her for this but also carrying a little hatred for Hawks who purposely plays with her.
Keigo who was left in his office was speechless, he blinked a few times and even pinched himself to see if he was dreaming and when he found out that he wasn't he gave out a sigh.
It was quiet, far too quiet. His mind drifted off to y/n who had stormed out of his office awhile ago. Yes he was very much aware of the cruel treatment he was giving her but that's only because he wanted to see how persistent this girl was with her love for him, he thought she'd give up within the second time but when she never did he grew even more intrested and began testing her a lot more than intended and when he found out that her affection for him was too strong.
He didn't know what to do and began running away like a coward. It was wrong in so many levels. She was younger than him not to mention she's still studying in U.A, His job isn't necessarily designed to have a normal life and finding love and making a family IS normal, and he might die one day and he didn't want her to carry the burden of losing him so it's better to make her hate him.
But boy was he wrong when she kept coming back stronger than before. She was already forcing her way in his heart that he became distressed with his emotions.
And poof, he suddenly realized that he loved her back.
Something about her allured him to no ends and curse his animalistic instincts when it comes to mates because as much as he hates to admit it, he had already acknowledged her as a Mate. HIS mate. He can't help but be greedy and possessive of her, and the the mighty knows how many nights he had to lock himself in, restrain himself while his self control was being brutally tested on ; because with one wrong move he may have already infiltrated U.A causing a security distress, Crashed inside her dorm room , fucking bred her like a feral animal and claimed her like the pretty little mate she was.
Everytime he sees her, his control weakens and he had to hit himself and punch his face multiple times literally to remind himself that she was still a goddamn minor and he can't have his way with her yet.
She's not making it any easier for him so he developed a bad habit of taking it out on her because if his words can't do the talking then he might as well jump her bones and have her screaming his name.
Keigo groaned as he planted his palm on his forehead.
He was beginning to feel anxious. Like something bad was about to happen; something he didn't like at all.
He turned on the T.V and started reading through a few papers works but he couldn't hold himself back anymore.
He jumped out the window and began feverishly looking for the h/c haired girl.
" Fuck me and my Fucking Hormones... God.... Kid what have you done to me? " He mumbled but it came out as a growl instead. He was agitated, frantic and nervous, he couldn't get her out of his head even if he'd hit his head on a fucking billboard.
His eyes darting to every direction he knew she would take to get here. As creepy as it may sound but he knows every single route she'd take to get to his agency including the transportation she'd take to get there every time.
After some time he finally spotted her after dashing and flying at jet speed throughout the city like a mentally deranged patient he had finally spotted her .
A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he tried to regain his cool.
" Hey Kid" He yelled out once he was near enough and he got no answer.
Y/n had purposely ignored him. His words still rang inside her head and everytime she remembered. It made her heart clench in pain.
And when she heard her name being called out by the said Male . She wanted to turn around. hell she even wanted to run to him like a love sick little puppy but she can't let him see that she was crying.
So she ignored him and began walking at a faster pace.
" Oohh~ playing hard to get now aren't we? You know you gotta try harder. A little silent treatment isn't going to have me falling for you ya know" keigo casually stated with a hint of playfulness but he knew any better; he was desperate to have her attention back to him.
God, what did he do? Did she finally wake up and decided that she was sick of his bullshit treatment? Shit now what?.
After minutes of no answer Keigo began to feel frustrated and without thinking he landed behind her and grabbed her by the shoulder. only to whirl her around to face him.
" Kid---"
Keigo froze after seeing here blood shot eyes and tear stained cheeks.
He did it this time and he felt like a full blown jerk for doing this... For hurting her.
Y/n avoided any form of eye contact and placed her eyes on anywhere but him, lips quivering in a mixture of anger and sadness. She looked like a mess.
But Keigo thought otherwise though, he felt so sick of himself. The face she was making, teary eyes, flushed cheeks, quivering lips. It had disgustingly turned him on even though the situation screamed otherwise. His thoughts began to drift into the dirtiest part of his mind wondering if this face would be the reward he'd get if he'd have her under him, sprawled all over his sheets, sweaty and needy for him while crying-- no begging for him to give her more while he rearranged her guts. Damn he really was Messed up in every possible way.
He wanted to slap himself for thinking that way but a part of him couldn't blame himself because ever since she started coming over he had been so pent up it was a miracle he hadn't fucked her on the spot. And he didn't even have the guts to fuck another woman because he already acknowledged her as a mate; HIS mate.
He swallowed hard before forcing himself to speak.
" What's this? Now you're giving me a Sad and Pity worthy face? If you're making me feel guilty then it's working. I didn't think you'd stoop this low th---"
" Takami leave me alone. I don't want to see you right now, if you came here to insult me even further then just Go. " Y/n cut him off, she was unable to bring herself from listening to another one of his remarkable insults again when the wound was still fresh.
Keigo paused as his once playful stare began to change into a more intimidating and stern look.
' Leave you Alone? After what you've done to me? Oh~ what a naughty baby bird... No Never.... I'll keep this in mind when I finally claim you, I'll punish you for ever thinking of leaving' those thoughts circulated through Keigo's head as he silently stood there. Staring at her.
Y/n who was unable to handle the pressure tried to yank herself away from his hold but he had a grisly grip on her shoulders and his gaze managed to intimidate her enough to stop moving.
" Listen.... Y/n---"
" Senior Hawks! " Keigo was cut off from speaking and to top it all up he was taken by surprise and his reflexes kicked in; pushing y/n away quite harshly.
Their gazes were flung to the left where Enchantress, the new Hero in their agency was running towards them with a devious smile.
Keigo groaned and y/n rolled her eyes after seeing the pink haired female make her way towards them.
" Hey " Keigo muttered but again; he was caught by surprise when Enchantress had wrapped her arms around his while smiling proudly at y/n.
" Who's This Senior? " She asked pointing at y/n but the look on her face made it obvious that she already knew who y/n was.
" She's y/n...a fan" Keigo's persona shifted in a heartbeat and was now wearing his natural and charming smile.
" Oh? She's a Fan? Well nice to meet you. I'm the new Hero Enchantress, Say... You have a pretty face " Enchantress smirked making y/n fight back a scowl.
" Thanks " As much as y/n wanted to drop all the pleasantries and Immediately move to the part where she's ripping of Enchantress's left boob.... She can't.
So she decided to keep it neutral and gave Enchantress a small nod and a smile.
" You have a pretty face... But... Senior if you were given a chance to pick, which one of us would you choose? I wonder" Enchantress cheered innocently but her question got Hawks cornered.
She was doing this on purpose; placing him in a situation where he'd most likely fuck up and judging by the looks the two females were giving him... He can't smooth talk his way outta this. Not this time.
" Of course.... I'd pick you-- " Keigo's eyes we're settled on y/n but he pulled his gaze away from her and towards enchantress. " Enchantress" Keigo finished and The look of triumph on The pink haired female's face was floor-bash worthy.
Y/n stood in place, for a moment there she had her hopes up. Keigo was cruel enough to pull that stunt on her; giving her false hope only to bring her down and rub it in her face.
" Or course you'd pick me, miss y/n is still a kid and she's... Take no Offense in this miss y/n but Senior Hawks is a bit... Hmmm... Out of your league?" Enchantress smirk grew wider and Hawks who was already lying through his teeth was still fighting his Pride for dominance.
With a sharp glare sent towards Enchantress who didn't seem to notice only scooted closer towards him.
" Oh, Really? Ok then "
Keigo blinked at how nonchalant and uncaring y/n's reply was. He was genuinely expecting her to explode like usual but this time it's different.
Y/n was fighting back the new batch of tears, heartbreak was a real pain in the ass. Couldn't he just put her down slowly? Why is he taking pleasure in hurting her this way? Now he's rubbing salt onto the wound.
In which area did she lack in? Her face? Body? Skill? Intelligence? Now that she thought about it, Enchantress tray lived up to her Hero name. She was perfect in every angle.... Perfect for Hawks. Enchantress had a nice body, a seductive face and y/n heard of the achievements done by the Female Hero.
She can't beat her even if she tried. She's mentally, physically and emotionally drained to even give a reaction. She'd just get hurt even more.
Maybe this is a sign.
For her to finally give up, move on, shift her focus and concentration to something more beneficial.
This was hopeless and all she ever got was pain. She's not a masochist who yearns for the continuous and brutal impact of emotional pain. Heck even masochists needs a little love too.
She's tired and y/n knows better than to put herself down with her own insecurities. So she needed to make a move fast because she'll only get hurt again.
It's wise to forget him.
With a deep breath she pulled out a strong front with a genuine smile on her face as she gazed at Keigo and Enchantress.
Keigo wore an anxious look while Enchantress held a surprised expression.
" Well, you two do look compatible and you're right he is out of my league.... That's why I'll look for someone else within my reach. He's not the only fish in the pond.... I'm sure I'm holding you guys back.. Carry on with your hero duties, I'll go back now Bye~" Y/n turned around and gave them a wave before skipping away from the two.
Her tone along with her smile looked far too cheerful that it scared Hawks.
Did she just say she'd look for Someone Else?, she had the guts to say that right in front of him?.
He balled his hand into a fist, and for the first time in his life he had never felt this scared to lose someone. He was breathing heavily while throwing a mental tantrum.
" You know.... I thought you'd finally stop that bad habit of yours Hawks.... I learned from the rumors and wanted to see for myself and probably give you a hand to confess to her but now that I've witnessed it, You really are a Fucktard" Enchantress shook her head as she crossed her arms gazing at Hawks with disappointment.
" Fuck off. This was your fault to Begin with. It's not as easy as you think"
" Really? You're blaming me for all the fuck ups you're responsible for? A girl's heart is fragile Hawks... I didn't live for a hundred years buried in the shelter of naivety. Her love was true and I think you just lost your chances.... If you wanna fix it. Fix it fast because once a girl has enough, she'll leave you like you're worth nothing. "
" I... I know I fucked up but your meddling wasn't necessary "
" Really? I was getting tired of watching you hurt her. I'm a woman too and I don't appreciate seeing other men hurt a woman who clearly loves them.... I did her a favor by giving her the ultimatum to let go... Looks like she took it in the end " Enchantress chuckled while Hawks stood there, his demeanor turning darker by the passing second.
" You're saying it's better that she leave me? " Keigo muttered Darkly , a dangerous look in his eyes began to resurface.
Enchantress kept a calm expression and nodded her head.
" You're Toxic Hawks. And it's better for her to leave you than seeing her get hurt over and over again... I've been in that stage before... And it hurts more than any injury I've suffered... "
" Since you're so knowledgeable about this then why not tell me how to fix it? Before I decide to go rogue and slit your throat" keigo threatened as he plucked out a feather which turned rudged and sharp; pointing it at Enchantress .
" Hmm... You seem to Love her judging by how strongly you reacted ... But you're worst than shit in showing it... But here's a tip . If you wanna fix it then fix yourself first. Learn how to treat a woman you like as if she's greater than a queen and remember that I'm not the one who hurt her...it was you." With those words being uttered Enchantress disappeared in a puff of smoke.

You frowned down at your notes as a soft breeze blew in from the open window next to you, the pages of your notebook fluttering in the wind as you placed a hand on top of them to prevent them from blowing as you sat back in your chair. Your teacher’s voice seemed like a monotonous drone that filled the classroom’s silence as he continued talking about the effects of the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment movement and how it changed the world’s thinking of space and the world they lived in, but in all honesty in this moment in time you could honestly care less about what he was saying. Your mind was already too preoccupied with the most popular girl in all of JYP Academy, Chou Tzuyu. Your eyes had left your notes long ago as you couldn’t help but stare, she was so effortlessly beautiful that it was almost infuriating. If you didn’t know any better you could say she was perfect.
She had everything any high school student could ever hope for. She’s beautiful, popular, rich, and oh so perfect. If time would allow you, you probably wouldn’t stop thinking about her at all. But, just as you were about to dive deeper into thought a sudden shrill ring of a bell pulled you out of your thoughts as you blinked, shaking your head as you realized class had ended. You sighed as you closed your notebook and reached for your backpack, stuffing your things inside as you stood from your seat but before anyone could leave your teacher suddenly announced, “Remember, we have a test on this chapter next week! And it’s the last one before the end of the quarter so this will severely make or break your grades!” A loud chorus of groans followed as all the students began filing out of class and out to lunch.
You shook your head as you threw your bag onto your shoulder, ‘Shit.’
-
You breathed out a sigh of relief as you got out of the class, dodging the flow of students heading out of the school halls towards the cafeteria as you made your way to the back of the academy, where the art building was housed. Set on retrieving your friends so they wouldn’t miss lunch and beg you for food later.
The walk there was surprisingly peaceful as you used most of the time lost in thought, your mind filled with images of Chou Tzuyu and history. The halls toward the back buildings were much quieter, save for the sound of a piano being played in one of the practice rooms. A smile growing on your face as you followed your ear towards the music, stopping in front of the open door that housed the source of the sound.
Your eyes landed on the brunette playing, then drifted to the silver-haired fox next to her as their heads both swayed to the rhythm of the song. A small chuckle left you as you knocked on the open door, “Knock, knock.” The interruption does its job and the music stops as Chaeyoung and Dahyun turn to face you, smiles growing on their faces as they get up from the piano to hug you.
“Y/N! Finally!” Chaeyoung says happily as she punches you lightly in the shoulder, “I was starting to think you forgot about us back here.”
You laugh as you lean into her, “What? Never. Classes just ran late since we have finals next week.
Dahyun groaned as she threw an arm over her eyes dramatically, “Don’t remind me, I hate this time of year.” You shake your head as a giddy smile takes over your features.
“But, hey, it’s Friday! Wanna go to, Cup of TT, after school. My treat?” Both Chae and Dahyun nod enthusiastically.
“Sounds good, but you’re paying. No take backs.” The brunette says with a playful smile as you wave her off.
“I know, I know. I’m not gonna come up short, unlike some people.” You raised an eyebrow that was directed to Chaeyoung as you dodged her about to tackle you.
“I swear to all things holy if you make one more short joke.” The tiny tiger seethed as you and Dahyun laughed, putting your hands up in surrender.
“Sorry, I can’t hear you from down there.” You smile as you start running down the hallway, your’s and Dahyun’s laughter filling the halls as Chaeyoung chases after the both of you.
-Finals Day-
The crisp spring air did nothing to relieve the pounding you felt in your mind as you rested your head in your hand, flipping through your notes about world history as you could faintly hear Chaeyoung explaining something about a mountain painting she had seen at an art exhibit recently as Dahyun listened. Her attention fully on the shorter blonde as you absently flipped through every page, trying to cram any last minute information you could before the final next period. But, to be fair, not paying attention in class wasn’t your fault.
How could they expect anyone to focus when Chou Tzuyu was in their midsts?
But your brief study of about three months of work had come to an end with the sound of a shrill bell, signaling the start of your history period.
“Alright, good luck Y/N! Hwaiting!” Dahyun smiled as she squeezed your shoulder.
“Good luck, and don’t get distracted!” Chaeyoung winked as she moved just in time to avoid your reach, cackling as you were left in your classroom. Watching your classmates file in as you let out a breath.
‘I can do this.’
-1 Week Later-
Your stomach has been in knots for the past week as you waited for your teacher to post the grades of the final. Making silent prayers to whatever divine being that heard you as you held your breath waiting for the teacher to post the paper on the bulletin. The lack of air in your lungs makes you dizzy as you had to remind yourself to breathe.
Your heart raced as your teacher opened the door to his classroom, regarding his anxious students with a quick look over as he kept his body in front of the board. Taking his sweet time to staple the papers to the corkboard to prolong his students anticipation before finally taking pity on their bated breaths as he finally moved.
Barely dodging the stampede of students that nearly trampled him in their haste to see their scores. Some rejoiced while some looked close to tears as you finally got to the board, running your finger down the column on the paper till it landed on your name. You held your breath as you removed your finger, revealing...an A!
You had to stop yourself from jumping in excitement as a large smile was plastered onto your face, running to find Dahyun and Chaeyoung to tell them the good news.
-
“Guys!” You yelled happily as you finally found them. Slightly out of breath since you had to run around a bit to find them.
Chae turned first as she took in the smile on your face, “Survey says?”
You smiled brightly, “A!” Both your friends smiled excitedly as they sandwiched you between them jumping in celebration.
“Alright, get together at my house?” Dahyun asked you and Chae as you both nodded, “Great!” You smiled as you slung your arms around both your best friends, the three of you walking towards the entrance of the school before you stopped.
“Aww, crap. I left something in my history class, I’ll be right back.” You turned back as you began running to your classroom, the halls pretty much void of students as you made it through the last corridor before your class. Barely rounding the corner when you spotted Tzuyu in front of the board. You quickly stopped yourself as you hid on the side of the wall, peeking over the side as you watched her, scared to face her head on. So you just waited for her to leave, but what came next surprised you more than just seeing Tzuyu by herself instead of surrounded by her entourage.
She began to cry.
For a second you felt very unsure of what was happening. ‘She’s crying. Chou Tzuyu is crying. I should probably do something.’ Your thoughts seemed to finally catch up to you as you tried to spring your body into action, ‘I should probably do something!’ But your body was frozen in place, unable to move as Tzuyu sniffed loudly. Her head down as she began to walk away, leaving in the opposite direction as you. (Thank God)
You finally felt movement come back to your body as you stepped into the light, walking slowly towards the board as you searched down the list for Tzuyu’s name. Your breath catching as you found it, D. Oh no. That’s not good. You purse your lips in thought as you forgo getting your forgotten pencil as you walk towards the way Tzuyu left, deciding you might as well see if she was okay. But, you turned up empty handed, having no idea where she had run off to and decided to just cut your losses and return to your friends.
A look of relief on Chae’s face as she spotted you, “There you are! We thought we’d have to send out a search party for you.” You smiled weakly at the comment, Dahyun’s smile faltering as she took in your shift in mood.
“Is everything alright, Y/N?” You shook your head, clearing your thoughts.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m good.” You gave her a thumbs up as you put your arms around them again, “What are we still doing here? Let’s go!”
-The Kim’s House-
The three of you had gone through at least two movies as you laid your head on Dahyun’s lap. Her finger’s threaded through your hair as your brows furrowed, the action usually calming you but had no effect on your consciousness as your mind still replayed the events outside your history class.
The brunette glanced down as she saw the serious look on your face, reaching over to pause the movie. Chaeyoung looked at her, ready to say something but stopped as Dahyun held up a hand, “Y/N,” No response, “Y/N.” Her tone became firmer as you blinked, turning your attention to her.
“Did you say something?” Dahyun sighed, making you sit up.
“What’s going on Y/N, after you came back from your class. You seem...sad?” You frowned slightly as you looked at both of your friends.
“Uh...okay, you got me. When I was going to my class, I saw Tzuyu outside since our grades were posted today then she started crying. I didn’t know what to do so I waited till she left and saw she got a, D.” To your surprise you heard Chaeyoung groan in annoyance.
“Dammit Chewy, I told her she needed help.” You and Dahyun both raised an eyebrow as you looked at your silver haired friend.
“I’m sorry, what?”
Chae shook her head, “I told Tzuyu that she needed to get herself a tutor since she was struggling with the paper. But, she didn’t want to since her parents are such hard asses about her being ‘perfect’ and what not.” But this only seemed to confuse you and the brunette further.
“Hold on. You know Tzuyu? Like personally?” Chaeyoung just nodded like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Yeah, we’ve known each other since we were in diapers. Our parents are family friends, so we’ve spent our whole lives around each other.” The shorter Korean continued talking, oblivious to your’s and Dahyun’s shocked faces. “So, I know all about her grades and things. She was having such a hard time with it, I feel so bad.”
You sat in shock for a little longer, “Wait, so you know Tzuyu and just never thought you should mention it.” Chaeyoung shrugged.
“Must have slipped my mind. But,” The silver haired girl smiled at you, “I think I know how to make her feel better.”
You looked at your suspiciously, “What do you have in mind, Chaengie?”
But Chaeyoung just smiled.
-Monday-
It was early in the morning as you stood in front of Tzuyu’s locker, a small note in your hand as you tried to psych yourself up to put it in. ‘Come on Y/N, she doesn’t know it’s you. You’ll be fine.’
You bit your lip as you slid the note in, saying a prayer as you ran off.
-
The bell rang, signaling the start of school as Tzuyu stood before her locker. Opening it as she watched a few pieces of paper flutter to the ground, ‘More secret admirer letters.’ The Taiwanese girl shook her head as she opened them briefly, tired of reading about how beautiful she was since it was kinda getting old. Until she came across a note that differed from the rest.
Tzuyu, keep your head up. You’re so smart and don’t forget to live while you’re young and wild :) -Anon
Tzuyu nodded as she read the note, ‘Huh, now that’s new.’ She smiled to herself as she secretly tucked the note back into her locker, her head held higher as she walked to her class.
-Wednesday-
It been two days since the first note you had written and you were back with another, holding it to your chest as you breathed out. Before pushing it in.
-
Tzuyu yawned as she moved her hair away from her eyes, opening her locker as a note fluttered to the ground. A smile growing on her face as she noticed the handwriting was the same as the one she had seen on Monday.
Hey, Tzu. Hope your days are getting better! Remeber you are smarter than you know and stronger than you think ;) -Anon.
The Taiwanese girl smiled as she tucked the note with the one she had received on Monday. She was really starting to like this admirer.
-1 Month Later-
It been a month since you had started leaving notes at Tzuyu’s locker every other day, and unbeknownst to you, Tzuyu had actually started looking forward to those days. You stood in front of her locker again, placing a kiss to the note as you slid it in.
-
When Tzuyu arrived to the academy she rushed to her locker. Pulling it open as the note she waited for to fall to the ground.
Tzumong! I hope your classes are going well, remember you are strong enough and amazing. If I had the courage you did I’d ask you out on a date if I could. Have a great day ^ㅊ^ -Anon.
Her eyes widened at the last sentence, so this person did like her. And she couldn’t deny, she had also fallen a little bit for the person writing her, her favorite letters.
-1 Week Later-
You sat bored in your history class as you absentmindedly spun your pencil around your fingers. Barely listening to your teacher as he explained a project he was having the class do on Imperialism. Your eyes focusing slightly on Tzuyu, who you hoped still had no idea it was you leaving the notes.
“Y/N. Y/N!” You shook your head as your gaze was ripped from looking at Tzuyu, to face your teacher.
“Yes?”
He shook his head, tutting, “I said, you’re partners with Tzuyu. Move so you can sit next to each other.” You felt your heart rate spike as your lungs seemed to be completely void of air, getting up on shaky legs as you moved to sit next to Tzuyu.
A small smile on her face as she mouthed, “Hi.” You gave her a smile as the teacher explained the project, before finally allowing the class to talk.
You swallowed the nervous lump in your throat as you faced your crush, “H...Hi, I’m Y/N.”
The brunette smiled, “Hi, I’m Tzuyu. Nice to meet you.”
You nodded, “You too.”
The class went by in the blink of an eye as you talked about the project and how it would work out when the bell rang. “Oh, I’m so sorry. I have to go. Can you write your number.” Tzuyu held open her notebook as you quickly wrote your name and number on the lined sheet of paper as she rushed out of the class. Your eyes following her retreating form as you sat back in your desk.
‘Well that just happened.’
-
The Taiwanese girl had to run to the student council meeting since she was behind on one of her projects. Panting as she entered the room. Taking a seat as she opened the notebook she had given you to write in. Her eyes barely glanced at the paper, when your handwriting caught her attention.
Her eyes widened as she pulled the note she had received this morning out of her binder, holding it next to your name and number. An exact match.
‘Oh my god.’
-The Next Morning-
You walked sleepily to your locker as you ran a hand through your hair, yawning as you put in your code. Pulling it open, only to have a piece of paper come fluttering out. You raised an eyebrow as you squatted down to pick it up, turning it over as you gave it an experimental sniff. ‘It smelled like Tzuyu’s perfume?’
You felt your heart begin to pound in your chest as you slowly opened the note. Your eyes widening in shock.
Found you! Now how about you keep your promise about that date you wanted to take me on. -Tzuyu <3.
You couldn’t believe what you were seeing as you read the note over and over again. Tzuyu stood quietly behind you. Her chuckle greeted your ears as you turned around slowly, catching her gaze. A smile growing on her lips as she looked at you expectantly.

Chapter 3: A Wild Crow Father has Appeared
Phil wasn’t expecting to be returning to Planet A112 so soon but Wilbur had sent a distress signal and that was the Dream Team Craft’s next stop.
The planet itself stood as a port market place. There were many of these planets around the galaxy, but it was probably the more popular ones for criminal ships and such. Poachers and Scientists alike came here to get supplies to take the biggest beasts in the galaxy, Humans.
Phil never understood the appeal, but both of his sons had gained that sort of adventurous aspect that he had lost so many celestial years ago. He assumed the only reason people ever chased the creatures was to fill their pride.
That was the exact reason Techno had joined the poacher ship three years ago. He only returned when it had crashed three months ago. To this day he has yet to reveal what horrors had gone on the ship.
Wilbur had another reason to go after the infamous creatures. His crave for knowledge was eating him up as was for most scientists. He joined the Dream Team Craft only six months ago and was already heading back to the SBI Craft.
Techno was pacing around the marketplace studying different weapons and supplies. Phil had been standing off to the side, leaning on one of the building walls. Every once and a while he would check his communicator to see where Wilbur was. Thankfully he had turned on his location so Phil could easily watch as he made his way through the maze-like market.
“Is he getting close?” Techno asked running low on patience.
“He’ll be here in two minutes or so.” Phil bit his lip, “You can head back to the ship, I don’t mind waiting for him.”
“I am not leaving you. Prime knows what Wilbur brought back this time.” Techno replied. Wilbur always had a knack for bringing back things he found interesting. This wasn’t the first time he had left the SBI Craft. This would be the 37th since he turned 14. Now he was 24 and the Craft had been designed to handle whatever he brought back. There was a holding room fit for literally any species, a mechanics room full of technology he gained an interest in. A garden and a gardener which was also retrieved by Wilbur. And of course Wilbur’s pride and joy, the laboratory.
“If you want mate..” Phil said, shaking his head.
Not even two minutes later he saw Wilbur coming from the middle of the crowd. He was carrying what looked like a hurt child.
“Well this should be interesting.” Techno mumbled as he spotted Wilbur.
Once the phantom saw them he strode over and they made their way over to him.
“What do you have this time mate?” Phil asked, curiosity filling him to the brim with questions.
“Someone I can’t explain till we get to the ship.” Wilbur states with a tone he had never heard from his son.
After a second of standing awkwardly they had come to a silent agreement to head to the ship.
It took less than five minutes. Wilbur was half sprinting to the lab before Techno’s assistant had even registered that Wilbur was back. Phil gave a quick greeting to the gardener and assistant before following Wilbur to the medical part of the lab. He almost fainted when he saw what was laying on the medical bed.
“I know it looks bad, but I couldn’t help myself.” Wilbur said apologetically, “I know you’re gonna want answers but I really don’t have a lot of time before serious damage is done to him. I’ll explain after I fix him up.” He glanced up with a face full of sincerity.
Phil sighed pushing aside any fatigue and collecting his thoughts. “How can I help?” He states without an ounce of shown-fear in his voice.
Wilbur took a moment before answering. Prime the silence was loud. “Keep everyone out of the lab, and set up another room.. that would be great.” Wilbur said. The worry in his voice was apparent, but Phil said nothing of it. Instead he started on the tasks that came with being the captain of the craft.
——————
He woke up to LED lights blinding him. Tommy blinked a bit before sitting up.
He was sitting on what appeared to be a hospital bed. An IV was attached to his wrist and there were strange alien restraints attached to his legs but not to his wrists. That would be a mistake if he knew how to take the sticky black cuffs off. Which he didn’t. Plus he was too weak to attempt.
He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and looked around. The bed was pushed into the back corner directly across from a window. There was no glass or plastic covering the window, only a shiny force-field looking thing. The window also was the length of the wall. To the right of the window was a little slot and shelf, clearly used to deliver food. To the left of the window was a place for a door. The only thing was there was no visible door, just more of the light blue painted wall. To the left of the space was a bunch of shelves with a bunch of weird toys, games, books, and puzzles. Across from that was a card table and two comfortable chairs. At the end of the bed was a bench looking thing in which the lid lifted up.
All in all the room was clearly used to keep people occupied while keeping a close eye on them. The inhabitants of the ship had prepared it so it could withstand most things. The furniture in the room had been nailed to the floor. The chairs could move either closer or farther from the table with whoever was sitting down using a strange contraption. None of the toys on the lower shelf could be eaten and all games and puzzles were on higher shelves. The books were also all hard covered. There were even plastic bookmarks in a small container next to the shelves. The window was clearly impossible to get through and looked like it would absorb whatever you threw at it. The food shelf had three mechanisms that wouldn’t be easy to get through. There were no vents or places to hide. It was very apparent they had done this sort of thing before.
The last thing Tommy looked for was a light switch. By some sort of luck he spotted it. It was a weird sort of dial thing that was right by the IV stand. It was currently at 100 and he then dialed it down to 35. It was dim enough to sleep but bright enough to see everything clearly. Not even five minutes later he fell into a deep sleep.

“YOU BROUGHT A HUMAN?!” Tubbo yelled, fluttering his wings furiously, making him hover ever so slightly.
Ranboo swiftly put his hand on Tubbo’s shoulder pushing him back onto the ground. The enderian shifted anxiously making Techno ponder if he was also gripping Tubbo to keep himself grounded. Phil stood near Will expectantly. Wilbur shifted from foot to foot and rubbed his arm, yet kept his head up to look at everyone. Techno was leaning against his security desk, side eyeing the now asleep human.
“I knew you were stupid, I just didn’t know you were this stupid.” Techno stated without a hint of remorse. Wilbur scoffed before attempting to collect himself.
“I couldn’t just leave him there! It was a mission built for researching humans. Meaning they would be doing nasty experiments for prime knows how long!” Wilbur snapped, with a seriousness Techno hadn’t seen since Wilbur brought back the other children on the ship, “He is a kid. Not an adult that had nowhere to go and was doing prime awful things. He is a kid with no family, no home, and barely making it through the day. I read through his file and he has gone through awful shit. I wasn’t gonna let him die in misery too. If you don’t want him on the ship, then I will get myself my own ship.” Wilbur threatened with a tone not to be questioned. Techno took a moment to think through Will’s response before coming up with an answer.
“He can stay. As long as you keep him in line and take care of his rations. He is not to leave his room until we make sure he can do no damage. If anyone wants to visit him, you are either outside the window or I am present. No excuses.” Techno finished satisfied with his answer. Phil may have been the legal captain of the ship, but when it came to rules Techno was always the one to make them.
Phil nodded in agreement. The two children nodded aggressively, both of which clearly had no intention of going near the human’s holding cell. After a minute Wilbur nodded.
“Fine. If those are the rules I will comply.” Wilbur said, “I need to adjust some things, I will assume Techno will be coming with me?” He asked reluctantly.
“Yes.” Techno bluntly said.
“So be it.” Wilbur snapped. Techno just brushed it off as they headed towards the lab cells.

Tommy was running through the forest on the edge of town.
It was his favorite trail and the only one his parents let him go on alone. Which cost a long series of promises and supplies he had to go with.
Usually he would be running on the trail for fun but this time it was a sprint home. He didn’t know what was wrong but he knew something was wrong. Especially when he saw the blue and red lights light up the evening sky.
“I didn’t do anything you bastards!!” His dad yelled over the sirens. They had him in cuffs repeating the Miranda rights to him as they pushed him into the back seat.
“What’s going on?” All Tommy could manage his throat was tight and he was struggling to hold back angry tears. He caught one of the officers' attention. She smiled softly.
“He got caught doing something bad to his wife.” She said sadly.
“What did he do?!” Tommy cried even louder this time tears slipped down his face. At this point the officer got more serious.
“I am not obligated to say.” She bit her lip before continuing, “Why don’t you go back to your parents?” She replied softly. This was the first time Tommy got angry, not annoyed or that childish angry. The kind of anger that makes you wanna burn the world down. It was a quick flash but enough to make him snap.
“You took my dad…. What did he do to my mom?” Tommy answered coldly. His answer clearly shook the officer.
“Aw kid, I- .. I am sorry.. he killed her.” Tommy already knew the answer. He shouldn’t have been surprised, but he was. He heard someone scream from far away. Maybe it was him, maybe someone else. They pushed him through a series of questions all of which he could barely answer. His mind was somewhere else. He couldn’t calm down. Everything was too much.
He woke up in a cold sweat. Tears were running down his face. His breath was rapid and uneven. He hadn’t had a dream like that for a couple of months, granted he barely slept. After a few shaky breaths he calmed himself enough to grasp where he was. He wiped the tears just in time for the spot where the door was to open.
In stepped Wilbur along with a really tall alien. The tall alien stood in front of the door as Wilbur rushed to Tommy’s bed. Tommy lost control of his breathing, barely calming down.
Wilbur grabbed his hands to which Tommy snapped his head towards the alien. “I want you to breathe with me okay?” Wilbur said softly. He moved Tommy’s hand to his chest and started taking deep breaths. After a minute Tommy managed to even his breath to Wilbur’s pattern. “Good, good. I am gonna take off your IV since you don’t need it anymore. After that I can get you some food and water, then we can talk alright?” Wilbur said, keeping his tone soft and slow. Tommy rubbed his eyes and nodded.
Wilbur took his arm, there was a small pinch then the IV was off. Wilbur quickly left and came back after about two minutes. Within those two minutes Tommy got a better look at the other alien.
The alien had light pink ruff skin with neat pink hair tightly braided. They were wearing a puffy cream shirt that was tucked into dark brown pants, which were tucked into black boots that went up to their knees. Their knees bent backwards and the boots were shaped weirdly, like they were built for hooves. They had hooves where their hands would be, that somehow had thumbs. They also had tusks poking out of their mouth. Along with blood red eyes that had white pupils. Their ears poked out of their hair and were both torn and pierced with gold earrings. They also had a gold chain necklace with a stone that resembled an Emerald. They also wore a black belt with a gold clip. Attached to the belt was an alien sword leaning against their right hip, on the other side was what resembled a gun.
Tommy swallowed down food that was threatening to come up. He waited patiently for Wilbur to come back, trying his hardest not to stare at the other alien.
“My name is Techno. He/him. Same with Wilbur and most of the crew. The only one who has other pronouns is Ranboo who goes by he/they.” Techno, stated bluntly. Tommy collected himself before responding.
“I am Tommy Innit, er- he/him.” Tommy finished with a shaky voice.
Luckily the awkward tension didn’t last long as Wilbur practically sprinted through the door, shoving Techno out of the way. He pulled a tray that was neatly folded out of the wall and put a glass of water and some food on a plate.
“Some parskey with hatatoes. It tastes good I promise.” Wilbur explained. He then went to grab something he left outside and sat at the card table. He put two plates down and Techno joined him. The door closed after that. There was no button or anything, it just closed. Tommy was a little baffled by it but looked towards the food put in front of him.
It was a white meat, similar to chicken, with a brown version of mashed potatoes. He looked over to the other two who were talking in a different language while eating the same food. With that Tommy decided it was okay to eat. Just like what it reminded him of, it tasted like chicken and mash potatoes with small differences. Like the meat was dryer and more salty and the potatoes were a little sour. Either way it was still good. He then drank the water. There was no odd taste this time so he assumed it wasn’t drugged.
Once he finished he attempted to listen in but was only met with a series of strange sounds. He gave up and pushed the tray away. Almost too quickly he fell into a deep sleep. He didn’t even notice when the visitors took their stuff and left.
——————
Ranboo poked at his food glancing up every once and awhile. The two crew members had returned from the human’s room and decided to finish their food with the rest of the crew. Everyone sat in a tense silence.
“So,” Phil clapped his feathered hands and turned towards Wilbur. “What do we know about the kid?” He asked.
“His name is Tommy Innit, pronouns he/him. He is 14 and was living on the run for six months. No family according to him and he’s allergic to nuts.” Wilbur answered.
“From what I can tell he isn’t super dangerous, just fearful. He already trusts Wilbur, somehow. Though I think it is due to Wilbur saving his life. It will be harder for the rest of us to gain his trust.” Techno added. Ranboo swiftly wrote the responses down, making sure to keep major notes.
The rest of dinner was uneventful and everyone awkwardly washed dishes and went to bed. Assumingly to sleep. Everyone except Ranboo that is. He couldn’t wash dishes due to his biology and he didn’t really sleep. Every time he tried the void would wake him up or he would go into a half-conscious state that the crew deemed as enderwalking.
So for what felt like the hundredth time they stayed awake laying in bed. This time however their mind was racing with thoughts. Traveling through situations that used to seem impossible before the human boarded the ship. Still curiosity was eating their insides.
With a half made up mind Ranboo shot up in bed. They stalked over to where the human was being held and peered into the window.
Almost instantly the human sat up. After yawning and getting into a position he was comfortable in he just stared at Ranboo making them incredibly uncomfortable.
“Who are you?” The human asked, Ranboo couldn’t remember his name.
“Oh! Uh, I am Ranboo.. I am kinda like an assistant, I-I guess.” Ranboo said, fidgeting with his fingers.
“Ah cool. I am the biggest man! Tommy Innit. You should be grateful to be in my presence.” The human practically flowed with confidence making Ranboo question if all humans were like this. He shook off the questions and turned back to the human who was now playing with the light monitor.
“So… what was your planet like?” Tommy asked, startling Ranboo a bit. “I-I mean you don’t have to answer of course.. just wondering..” the human stuttered. They took a moment to go through their thoughts, narrowing down what they could.
“I guess it was peaceful.. in a way.. no one really fell out of line. It was unified, creating a peaceful haven. It wasn’t like people couldn’t fall out of line it’s just they didn’t want to. M-most of them were content with the way they were… but if there was something wrong they would absolutely take any measure to destroy it.” Ranboo finished bitterly, trying to shake off his old hurt of how they treated him. “W-what about your planet?” Ranboo asked.
“Ah.. Earth is interesting to say the least… We don’t all follow the same rules. And there is a lot of falling out of line… But I guess that’s what gave it a certain charm and a certain aspect that made it brutal.” Tommy finished his serious tone melting in an instant, “But that’s there not here! I wanna know what everything is like.” He said looking at Ranboo with curiosity.
That’s how Ranboo created a bond with the strange blond creature. They bounced from topic to topic mainly ending with one of them going into a deep explanation of one thing or another. They talked until both of them ended up passing out sitting next to the window.

Gratsu Weekend 2021 Prompt: Secret Pairing(s): Gray x Natsu, Sting x Rogue For @walkinginfiction
AO3 | Next: Ch 2 Summary:
“You little pervert!” Sting teased, “You’ve been watching him, haven’t you?”
 “I haven’t!”
“Bullshit! How else would you have known that?”
“I -,” Natsu tried to think of any other way he could have discovered that little fact, but came up empty. “It’s only been a few times, I swear! I was just trying to find an excuse to approach him.” He hid his face in his hands, embarrassed at being found out.
“Well, lucky for you, I’ve got just the thing!
Chapter 1
“Nghh, that’s soooo good!”
It mattered little to Natsu whether his housemate Sting was fucking his new boyfriend Rogue or just eating. He’d already discovered the hard way that it was impossible to tell the difference from their sounds. Each one a reminder that while Sting was feasting, Natsu was very much in the middle of a famine.
“You like that?”
Natsu scowled in response. Did they have to be so fucking loud? He turned his stereo on, determined to drown out the noises that were coming from the room next door. It helped a little, but not enough to distract him from what may or may not be happening. And it was late enough there’d be nowhere for him to go.
Where were those comic books he’d been meaning to catch up on? A quick glance around his room was enough to let him know there was no way in hell he was finding anything. Clothes, both clean and dirty, littered the floor and just about every other available surface except his closet. Sealed boxes lined up the walls, waiting for him to get his shit together and finally unpack.
Fiine.
He grabbed as many clothes as he could carry and made his way to their laundry room, also known as the bathroom.
Lalala I can’t hear you, he thought as he walked past Sting’s closed door, although of course he could, and now Rogue was joining in, expressing his approval at what must arguably be the most delicious ice cream sundae ever fucking made.
Why had he agreed to room with Sting again?
Open the washer door, chuck clothes inside, pour detergent in the dispenser and hit start. Great, ten points for adulting. Covering his ears with his hands, he hurried back to his room, grabbed the nearest box and sat down, using his pocketknife to open it up. Might as well get started on some of those now that he could walk around his room again.
That was his intent, but in the end he couldn’t help but examine the items one by one, fascinated by what he found among them. To be fair, even he would admit most of it was junk. He had no recollection of how he’d ended up with most of it, but that’s what made them so fascinating.
Score!
Finding a container of spicy jalapeño cotton candy, age unknown, he shoved some into his mouth. It was a little stale, but perfectly edible.
He placed the textbooks on the floor without a second look, having already seen more of them than he ever wanted to. There were some more clothes, the exercise ones he’d been searching for, for quite some time.
He scratched his head, wondering who the hell had packed this box. A set of three sex dice, a gag gift from Loke, were next. Maybe he should give them to Sting. He’d certainly get more use out of them.
Knit Your Own Boyfriend, another gag gift from Sting this time, joined the textbooks on the floor. Porn for Women, a book which had pictures of guys doing household chores and shit, almost joined it until Natsu realized some models in it were pretty hot. He’d keep that one.
101 Ways to Annoy Your Roommate
He glared at the wall between their rooms. Yep, keeping that one too.
Next came decision dice with messages like Fuck it, Fuck that and Fuck If I Know, followed by a nose flute, a bottle of Maybe You Touched Your Genitals hand sanitizer, a tube of bacon lip balm, and a bar of Uranus soap. Every item he pulled out was more entertaining than the last.
He positioned the flute over his nose and mouth and breathed out, having a great time attempting to play along to the music while he continued unpacking, bursting into giggles and some rather interesting sounds when he realized how terrible he sounded.
It was only when he took out the last item, a pair of binoculars Igneel had gifted him when he’d been a boy scout many, many years ago, that he realized all he’d done was clutter the floor again by spreading out the box's contents.
In no mood to do even more cleaning up, he examined the binoculars carefully, worried they might have broken in the move. He should probably test them out.
Picking a random subject- the dragon poster hanging above his bed, he aimed the binoculars on it and looked through them. They seemed in great condition, outside of some smudges and dust on the lenses. He grabbed a microfiber cloth off his desk and used it to wipe the lenses clean.
With nothing better to do, he pulled his curtains back and held the binoculars up to his eyes, searching for anything that might hold his interest for a few minutes. He’d settle for a trash-digging raccoon at this point.
What he found, however, was much more interesting. The house across from theirs, which had sported a For Rent sign for as long as he could remember, had a moving van in front of it, and the lights inside the house were on. He was a little curious why someone would move in this late at night, but that thought ceased to have any importance as soon as he got a good look at his future husband- uhm, new neighbor.
The guy had dark hair that stood up in unruly spikes. His skin gleamed in the moonlight, so much so Natsu wondered if he might be glittering like a certain gay vampire. He can absolutely bite me! Yum! And if that wasn't the sexiest fucking glower he’d ever seen in his life, Natsu didn't know what was.
He couldn’t make out the guy’s eyes, but he was almost willing to bet they were blue. This was all great, but it was his chest that Natsu kept staring at because for once in his life God had been merciful and the guy was shirtless, giving him the opportunity to ogle every one of his taut muscles.
“What are you doing?”
Natsu jumped at the sound of Sting yelling behind him, almost losing his grip on the binoculars. His hand moved to his heart as the nose flute squeaked loudly from his rapid breaths. He removed it, tossing it on his bed, and glaring at his roommate who stood laughing at him. “Jesus Fucking Christ, Sting!”
“What? I tried calling out to you, but your music was too loud.” Sting tiptoed his way around the mess on the floor to get to the stereo, lowering the volume so they could speak without having to shout at each other.
“Well, if you and Rogue hadn’t been having a food orgy next door, I wouldn’t have had to play it so loud.”
“Yeah, nice deflect. Wait, are those your scout binoculars? What were you looking at?”
“N-nothing, yep nothing at all.” “Ah, so you like listening in and spying on people, huh?” Rogue stood in the doorway, still licking what Natsu only hoped would be sundae off his fingers.
“I do not!” Natsu spluttered, “You guys are loud enough the new neighbor probably heard you!”
Fuck.
“There’s a new neighbor?!” Sting jumped over the box, grabbing the binoculars, which were still hanging around Natsu’s neck, and pulling them up to his eyes. “Oh, I see what you were looking at, alright,” he snorted.
“You’re cho-king me,” Natsu gasped out. “Whoops, sorry about that-” Sting pulled the string over Natsu’s head and continued to observe the scene across the street. “You should go over there and offer to help him out.”
“Hell no.” “Why not? He’s cute.”
“Because it’s like 11 o’clock and he’ll think I’m a weirdo.”
“It’s not that late. If we were still at the dorm, you wouldn’t think twice about it,” Sting pointed out. “You could take your shirt off too.”
“Yeah, cause that’s normal,” Natsu didn’t like the way Sting’s eyes seemed to twinkle. Not one bit.
“Man up, Dragneel,” Rogue dared, joining them at the window to get a look at the guy they were talking about.
“Look, I get you guys would like nothing more than to get me out of the house, but I’m broke and I’m not about to go make a fool of myself just so you can get it on. Besides, newsflash, not everyone is gay.” “Your point? Not everyone’s straight, either,” Rogue countered, crossing his arms. “Yeah, and I hate to break it to you, but we’re gonna get it on regardless,” Sting snickered, earning himself an eye roll from Rogue when he used the binoculars to zoom in on him.
“Right, well, don’t let me keep you,” Natsu said, grabbing the binoculars from Sting before he shoved both of them away from the window and closed the curtain.
“Ooh, sex dice!”
“You want them? Here, take them,” Natsu said, offering the dice to Sting and then throwing them out the door as hard as he could.
“Hey!”
“You don’t really expect him to chase after them, do you?” Rogue chuckled, unconvinced, but his laughter died abruptly when Sting hurdled over all the crap on the floor like some kind of Olympic athlete. “Suck, toes, 50 seconds!” “You were saying?” Natsu’s grin was smug as he shooed Rogue out of his room, locking the door behind him and collapsing in a tired heap on the floor. Those two were fucking exhausting.
A few moments later he realized he was wasting precious time and dragged himself back to the window, hoping to find his new neighbor still out there lifting boxes out of the van. Sadly for him, he was not. Although the lights were still on, the doors to the moving van were closed and despite his best efforts, Natsu wasn’t able to see him anywhere inside the house either.
He had to admit that Rogue was right. It was stupid not to even try just because he was afraid of a negative outcome. That had never exactly been the Dragneel way of doing things, although of course that might also be why he crashed and burned much more than he scored.
His cheering squad, however, was about as dangerous as a firing one, so if he was going to make a move he’d have to keep it a secret from them for as long as he could manage it.
He’d just have to watch a little longer, at least until he found an opportunity to introduce himself. Satisfied with this plan, he set his music on a timer and climbed into bed, already looking forward to learning more about his neighbor in the coming days.
0-0
“He’s so not straight,” Rogue called from the bottom of the stairs, closing the front door behind him and announcing his arrival a moment before coming up.
“Yay, you’re back,” Natsu muttered, not even bothering to look up from the magazine he’d been reading.
“Who’s not straight?” Sting came out from the kitchen, holding a bowl of chips and plopping on their living room couch.
“Your new neighbor,” Rogue said, looking incredibly pleased with himself as he took off his shoes and jacket.
Natsu flipped the page, refusing to take the bait even though he was itching to know more. “Fascinating, and how would you know that exactly? Did he show you his membership card?”
“In a manner of speaking.”
Well, that caught his interest. Natsu waited for him to say more but the sonofabitch knew he had him and now he was going to force him to ask. Sadistic asshole.
He stayed strong, willing Sting to ask for him, but the bastard just kept shoving chips into his mouth and watching the two of them with interest.
Natsu turned the page of his magazine slowly, attempting to wait Rogue out.
“I saw him arrive when I got here, so I thought I should introduce myself,” Rogue explained, keeping Natsu waiting while he joined Sting on the couch, greeting him with a kiss.
“You talked to him?!” Natsu threw his magazine on their coffee table, dropping all pretense of disinterest. “What did he say?!”
“He said his name’s Gray Fullbuster, and that he moved in a few days ago. So then I said, yeah, I know, we watched you through a pair of binoculars.” Natsu could feel all color vanishing from his face, while Sting almost choked on his chips. “Kidding,” Rogue snorted, smacking his boyfriend on the back a few times. “I asked him where he’s from since he has a bit of an accent. Turns out he’s from Isvan.” “He’s got an accent?” Natsu groaned. He was so screwed.
“What’s the matter with him?”
“Natsu has a thing for accents, always has.” “And you have a thing for assholes!” Natsu retorted, tossing a pillow at Sting’s face, hoping he’d stop laughing. “I mean, don’t we all?” Sting caught the pillow and put it behind his head. “Oh, speaking of which, how do you know he isn’t straight?” “It wasn’t hard,” Rogue shrugged, shoving his hair back away from his face, “His backpack had a bi flag pin on it. Oh, and he asked me if there was an art supplies store downtown, so I figure he’s an artist.”
“Yeah, he is.” Natsu blurted out, recalling the night he’d spent an hour watching Gray sketching a cat, fascinated by how lifelike he’d made it seem. The sudden look that passed between his friends made him realize his mistake.
“Well, lucky for you, I’ve got just the thing!”
Natsu peered at Rogue from between his fingers, not sure he liked the way he’d said that, especially when he looked like a cat who had just swallowed a canary whole.
“What did you do?”
Almost as if by magic, several envelopes materialized in Rogue’s hand.
“I may have liberated some of his mail.”
“Are you out of your mind?! You can’t just take someone’s mail, Rogue. That’s illegal!” “Says the stalker. Besides, it’s only illegal if you get caught,” Rogue smirked, examining the envelopes in his hand before setting them on the coffee table. “These were just delivered to the wrong mailbox, that’s all. They look important, though. You should make sure he gets them back. We wouldn’t want him to get in trouble.”
Sting had the decency to look shocked, but that only lasted for about a minute, replaced by what Natsu could only interpret as admiration. “That’s perfect!” And next thing he knew, they were in full scheming mode, mumbling to each other as if he wasn’t even there. “He should open up a few buttons, don’t you think?”
“Yeah. Maybe fluff up his hair?”
"On it!"
“Oh, no. I want no part of whatever it is you two are thinking!” Natsu made a show of grabbing his magazine and opening it back up, but Sting had already gone off to his bedroom. The ominous sounds of him rummaging through closets and drawers traveled through the walls, and soon he returned holding a bunch of items. A comb, a tube of hair gel, some fancy-looking body spray, one of his infamous crop tops, and… was that Natsu's bacon lip balm?
"Did you just steal that lip balm from my room?"
"It's not stealing if I'm using it on you, dumbass. Now be still."
“Get away from me with that crap!” Natsu stood up from his chair, ready to bolt and lock himself in his bedroom.
“You wound me,” Sting sighed. "I even grabbed you my best one-" he held up the top and pouted at it.
“I am not putting on one of your stupid shirts.”
"His shirt's fine," Rogue sided with Natsu for once, “it just needs some re-adjustments.” He straightened the collar of Natsu’s button-up, pulled down the sleeves so he could roll them up neatly again, and opened up the two top buttons.
“Pucker up!” Sting made kissy faces as he approached him with the lip balm, and although Natsu refused to purse his lips, that did nothing to dissuade him. He still managed to apply a generous amount of it on the general area of his mouth.
“Ugh, that tastes awful!” Natsu complained, wiping the excess off with his hand.
“It’s bacon, man. All dudes love bacon, am I right?” “On my plate, yes. But on your face?” Rogue looked like someone spit in his socks.
Sting didn’t let Rogue’s response get him down, cheerfully moving on to the next item in his arsenal. A bottle of body spray that had little bits of something floating in it. Was that-
“Glitter?! No way, no how. I’m going to look ridiculous.”
“You’re going to look and smell awesome.”
“It’s glitter.”
“Which of us has a boyfriend?”
Okay, Sting had him there, but did he really need to be primped up like some schoolgirl about to go to Prom just to say hi to the guy? It was humiliating. If he went through with this ridiculous ploy, and that was still a big if, he wanted to at least make a good impression.
“It smells nice, and Gray’s an artist. Maybe he’d appreciate the glitter,” Rogue said, grabbing some chips from the bowl and moving over by Sting.
“He doesn’t make kids art projects. He draws beautiful, realistic looking pictures.”
“Oh, sorry,” Rogue fake apologized, holding up one hand next to his head while feeding Sting chips with the other.
Sting took advantage of Natsu’s distraction, spraying him before he could protest further.
“Hey, watch the face!”
Natsu had to admit the spray smelled nice, but in his rush to do a sneak attack, Sting had sprayed very liberally, covering not only Natsu but the coffee table, which had Gray’s mail on it.
“Oh, great. How am I supposed to explain that?”
“Will you chill? By the time I’m done with you, Gray won’t care about some stupid glitter on his mail,” Sting promised as he set the spray down and opened the tube of hair gel, squeezing some into his hand and moving to pluck at Natsu's hair.
“That’s what I’m afraid of,” Natsu grumbled.
“Oh, come on, have I ever steered you wrong before?” Sting grinned, brimming with confidence, only to wince as he paused to think. “Okay, maybe don’t answer that.”
Natsu chuckled, thinking back to some of Sting’s more hare-brained suggestions over the years. He had this habit of getting carried away, but Natsu had never regretted going along. Even when things went sideways, they always had fun, and he knew his friend’s affection for him was genuine. So why was he fighting him so much now, when he was only trying to help?
“Fine, fine, do your worst.”
"Pftt, please. I perform nothing but miracles."
Rogue grabbed a stool from their kitchen island and brought it into the living room, gesturing for Natsu to sit so Sting could get started.
He let Sting fuss over his hair for the next ten minutes, his fingers sculpting it into well-defined spikes away from his face.
“Done!”
“Not bad,” Rogue said after giving him a once over. He grabbed the mail from the table and handed it over. “Now get going.”
“What, now?”
“No, next week. Yes, now!”
“I don’t know if it’s a good idea,” Natsu hedged.
“On that note,” Sting stuck his hand in his pocket and pulled out an object that he placed on the coffee table. “Roll.”
Natsu recognized the decision dice he’d left on his desk. "Seriously?! What are you two, kleptos?"
“Just roll.”
“Okay, but if it says no, we’re done here, right?”
Natsu picked up the dice and studied them, unsure of what he wanted the outcome to be. He shook them lightly in his hands and tossed them on the coffee table.
“Fuck in’ a?” “Fuckin’ A!” Sting cheered and raced to his room again for more digging through drawers, and this time he returned with only two foil packaged items that fitted between his fingers. Both things Natsu easily recognized but had no intention of using during his first meeting with Gray. “Oh my God!” he backed away, “I’m just gonna go return his mail and introduce myself!”
“You were a Scout, weren’t you?” Sting grinned, extending his hand to offer the packets. “Didn’t they teach you to always be prepared?”
“I’m just gonna go drop these off,” Natsu rushed out of the room and down the stairs, hearing Sting and Rogue’s laughter and a warning to not be back soon.

I’ve been thinking about this for ages and have just gotten round to writing it.
Some quick background information before we start. Peter is 27 in this and is dating Bucky who is genetically still 28 - 32 because of the cyro freeze. They’ve been dating for 3 years now and no one knows they’re dating (well, maybe some people know. They live with two assassins so Natasha must know, Wanda must suspect at least and Loki knows because he walked in on them doing the you know once. They had to slave after him for a week to make sure he didn’t tell anyone).
It’s not like they’re hiding it but are at the same time. Who knows what Steve and Tony would do if they found out their precious little peter was dating one of their closest friends.
Enjoy!
__________________________________________
The avengers have just finished fighting a villain, some kind of alien or something. Like any other time they’re in a fight, they didn’t all get out unscathed. It’s not too bad this time, Peters just fractured his wrist and dislocated his elbow when swinging around and falling. His dads (and Bucky in secret) insist that he goes to the hospital wing to get it checked on.
This is how they’ve ended up in this situation.
6:48 pm
“But Jamieeeeeee! I want to do the interview, it’s James Corden. You know how much I love James Corden. My hand and arm are fine!” Peter whines trying to get out from under the scratchy hospital sheets Bucky wrapped him in. Bucky rubs the bridge of his nose, sighing deeply. He loves his boyfriend but he can get really whiney and clingy when he’s doped up on pain killers.
“Doll, you know you have to stay here. We’ll have plenty of times to go on to The Late Late Show in the Future. For now, you have to rest,” he says as a nurse walks into check his vitals, “I’ll be back later Peter, be good for the nurses”. Bucky starts to exit the room, looking back as he reaches the doorway to see his boyfriend chatting away to the nurse with a pout on his face. ‘He’s probably asking her if she can discharge him without his dads knowing’ he thinks to himself. James smiles to himself as he walks down the corridor to the main floors so he can get ready for the interview.
8:34
It was going well. The avengers had just been introduced and had taken their seats on the 3 couches they brought out for them (Couch 1 = Tony, Steve, Natasha and Thor/Couch 2 = Wanda, Vision, Clint and Pietro because he never died/Couch 3 = Bucky, and supposedly Peter.) Tony and Steve were running late but promised they’d make it by 8:45. Traffic must of gotten bad because of all the paparazzi.
Once the audience had stopped cheering and they had all been introduced to the audience, James started off with the obvious question.
“I notice that we are missing a few people. Does anyone know whats happened to the Roger-Stark family?” James asked. Before anyone could answer they heard a voice coming from the back of the audience
“We’re here, we’re here. The Stark-Rogers are here. This one insisted we take him, no matter how much meds he was on. Children am I right?” Came the voice of the one and only Tony Stark-Rogers. Tony walked in front of Steve who was carrying Spiderman who was wrapped in a blanket burrito. They walked to the front where the rest of the crew were sitting, Steve going to the last couch to dump Peter.
Bucky could feel his emotions swirling around in him. The frustration of Peter not listening to his advice, worry about his boy’s injuries and if they’ve healed properly as well as adoration for how adorable he looked wrapped up, while completely out of it. As Steve puts Peter on the couch, he let out a small ‘oof’ which James had to resist cooing at. Instead, he gives Steve a nod of acknowledgement and returns to surveying the area with a cold, emotionless look on his face, trying to keep up his dangerous, assassin persona.
At least that was what he was trying to do. It was kind of hard to be a murderous assassin when your precious boyfriend is all tired and clinging onto a blanket a mere 3 feet away from you. He tries his hardest to ignore him. He really does. But all hope is lost when Peter starts to slowly shift closer to him, muttering something about the warmth and ‘my bucky bear’. Peter, bless his little drugged out self, slowly and discreetly shimmies over to his boyfriend. All the attention is on the most well known of the avengers at the front so no one notices Peter nuzzle into Bucky’s side.
“Babe, doll, what are you doing? We’re on live TV.” Bucky whispers, subconsciously wrapping his metal arm around his boy.
“Oh Jamie, your nice and warm,” Peter says, muffled from where his head is buried in the crook of his neck. Everything blurs out in the background and the only thing Bucky can focus on is Peter. About how his steady breathing is hitting the exposed skin of his neck and how his petite frame is starting to koala hug his own muscular built one. The boy is perfect in his eyes. His boy is perfect. His. He can’t help but to copy his boyfriend and bury his own face into the boy’s neck.
“Bucky, what are you doing back there?” Comes an English accent from somewhere around him. As if on instinct Bucky replies,
“Hugging my boyfriend what does it look like?”
There’s gasps heard around them
Shit! He must have zoned out badly. Bucky looks up from where his face was in Peter’s neck, face a scarlet red and eyes like a deer caught in headlights. Looking around him, he sees a majority of the avengers with their eyes wide open, mouths agape. The crowd aren’t much better. The studio is dead silent. Peter lifts his head slowly, totally dazed, and innocently asks,
“What did I miss Jamie?”
Buckys eyes land on his boyfriends face, momentarily relaxing but quickly his eyes catch the ones of the people in front of them. His best friend and his best friends husband. Peter’s parents.
Gently placing Peter to the side, Bucky stands up with his arms out, as if he were approaching a lion. Steve has a look of shock and hurt on his face while Tony’s is radiating off pure anger.
“We, I can explain. Stevie just - fuck, Stevie just listen to me. I love h -”
Before he can finish the sentence Steve is grabbing him by the arm and taking him backstage into a private room.
8:58
“MY SON! MY SON BUCKY! You were telling me about this relationship for months! About how you’ve been seeing someone, someone younger. But you don’t really have a choice now with people your age, you can’t exactly go chasing 102-year-olds who look 30! He’s 27! Buck, how, why, Bucky -” Bucky cuts him off by placing a hand on his shoulder and massaging
“Stevie just shut up,” Bucky still knows how to shut him up when he’s about to have a panic attack, “Look, first I want to say that I’m actually only physically in the 28-32 age range. You are now older than me punk,
“Secondly, I’m sorry. I wish I didn’t feel this way, you have no idea how many nights I wasted trying to convince myself that I didn’t like him. I love him, and he loves me. You know better than most that you can’t control who you love. Peter, god Peter deserves so much better than me but I’m going to stay with him for as long as he’ll have me. I, I just adore him with every cell in my body. He makes me happy, when I see him he just lights up a room. I, I just love him, words can't express how much ”
Steve stays silent for a moment, looking deflated. Like the small, frail boy he was back then. He looks at Bucky and in that look, Bucky knows, knows that he is forgiven, given half the permission he needs, that he still has his best friend.
“Come here Punk,” Bucky says stepping over to Steve and pulling him into a tight embrace.
"Love you Buck"
"Love you too, Stevie"
9:17
Bucky and Steve had been hugging for just over 7 minutes when Tony barges in with Peter groggily walking in behind him. He's still confused on what's going on, why are his dads so angry at him and Bucky?.
"Bucky," Tony starts off, "I give you forgiveness, a roof over your head, I fucking convinced the government that you weren't a threat! And you go ahead and date my SON!" You can see Tony slowly growing more angry by the second. He continues
"I'd have every intention to throw you out if it weren't for the fact that your Steve's best friend and Peters boyfriend. That would hurt them and I dont hurt those who I love, not anymore. So, I'm here to hear out your side of the story because funnily enough, doped up Peter can't really say things that make sense.'" All eyes turn to Bucky as he gulps but nether the less, starts talking
"Tony, and Steve because I didn't tell you the whole story. I'm going to be honest with you guys, yous deserve to know. I want to start of by saying that I am forever grateful for everything yous have ever done to me. I love yous,
"It was 4 years ago, just after I moved into the tower when Peter came up to me. The kid wouldn't shut up. I wanted to be alone, at least that's what I thought I wanted. We slowly became friends. I trusted him with my life. I helped him with school work, he helped me with nightmares. We clicked, we worked. Feelings started to develope after a while and one night when we were studying on his little balcony, he kissed me and I kissed back. We've been dating 3 years now and they've been the best 3 years of my life. I love him, so so much. So please, don't make us break up, I don't think I'd survive without him. He's my light, my star. I want to marry him and start a family, live in a house just outside of New York so its still convenient for spiderman and avengers business. Maybe have a dog and definitely some goats. I want all that with him" Bucky finished with a tear rolling down his cheek. He really hoped Tony would understand, understand that they love each other
Tony sighs and rubs his forehead. All the gears in his head are turning and he's getting a headache. Tony sighs.
"Well, I guess there's not much I can do. I believe you Bucky, your a good man. I give you my blessing or whatever to date him. Can we go home now" Tony says walking away, talking to no one in particular. Steve chases after him, leaving the boyfriends alone in the studio room. Bucky is grinning like the Cheshire cat, that's not how he expected that to go. There was definitely more shouting in his head. Peter suddenly comes up to him and plonks a kiss right on his lips.
"Well then Bucky Bear, shall we go home?" Peter holds his hand out but instead of taking it, Bucky scoops him up and carries him out of the room.
"Of course doll, anything you want"

Bakudeku canon divergent, vampire quirk AU

Talking with the authorities would have given Bakugou some information, at least on where they’ve already searched or who they may have spoken to. But he didn’t want to risk being held there under their watch. So, the only thing he could think of was to start at the beginning, at the last place Midoriya was seen. Maybe there could be a clue, a direction, or something that would point him towards the next step. It was a long shot for sure considering if his friend wanted to travel far, he could use his quirk to boost himself greater distances. Hopefully not!
The battle had taken place near the border of Fukui and Ishikawa prefectures. They’d tracked All for One to a hideout in the forests surrounding Lake Manahime-ko, presumably because of the dense trees and sparse communities of the area so he could regroup. It was a pro-only mission that Bakugou, Midoriya, and Todoroki were brought in for, but in the ensuing last stand, All for One slipped away while the pro heroes were busy dealing with the remnants of villains still loyal to the League. Seeing this happening, the trio of students had taken off after him.
From the outskirts of the forest, it’s dense pines served well to hide the battle that had raged only a month ago. But using his quirk to take him above the tree line, Bakugou was able to see the hole in the canopy that was blasted apart by their explosions along with a slight trail because of the Nomu skirmishes. As his eyes tracked it for a moment, flashbacks of the fight ran through his analytical mind, but ultimately, his focus circled back to the final destination. He landed in the newly created clearing and took a moment to scan the area for any obvious clues… that didn’t exist.
As Bakugou stood in the spot where All for One had fallen. He sat down on the ground running his hands over the few areas that were still marked by their fight. Some rutted dirt, charcoal singe marks that were starting to fade, dozens of broken trees and mangled brush surrounded him, in fact the depressed area he sat in was levelled by the battle. The scorched crater, approximately two meters deep looked like a small meteor had created it. A month in the open elements had washed away much of their action but there were enough traces of it, like the darkened, burnt earth, to bring back all the memories. He closed his eyes and recalled the events like it was yesterday.
While chasing after AFO, a pair of Nomu’s that guarded All for One had broken off at the villain’s direction to attack the students. So, a tactical decision was made, Midoriya continued after the villain while the other two dealt with the Nomu’s. ‘Those bastards were tough…’ Bakugou sighed. They were probably the most advanced Nomu’s under AFO’s control. But the longer they were fighting the creatures, the more distant Midoriya’s blast sounded, the more worried he became at leaving their friend on his own. “Hurry the fuck up icy hot!” He had screamed at his fighting partner. An unusual panic was building in the blonde’s veins as he unleashed his fury on the creatures. Once one Nomu was down but not dead, Bakugou barked at Todoroki to finish it while he took off in the direction Midoriya and All for One had gone. He was sure the fire and ice user could handle things, while his old friend was at a disadvantage. The OFA holder was strong… but history had proven he could become reckless without a certain person’s guiding hand.
Bakugou had blasted his way through the dense brush and tightly packed trees, searching for his friend. The sounds of explosions, splitting wood and occasional smoke guiding him on a path. It took a quarter mile to get to them and what he saw made his blood boil. Midoriya was covered in green lightning trying desperately to break out of All for One’s grip. Stupid idiot for getting caught! Bakugou sent a long range shot at the villain, throwing him off just enough for Midoriya to break away. The pair then teamed up and all hell broke loose.
It was tough. All for One doesn’t look as physically opposing as most villains but the man was a level above for sure. Over a hundred years of experience, coupled with a plethora of unknown stolen quirks at his disposal made both close range and long-range attacks difficult to determine or engage in. Speed was the one advantage the younger students had on their side, as well as an uncanny ability to coordinate their movements.
Blow after blow the pair threw everything, they had at All for One, but it was barely making a dent. Bakugou was growing frustrated and heated that his quirk was almost useless against this foe and even with OFA on his side, Midoriya was struggling. There was a damn good reason no one had been able to stop AFO before. He didn’t know how much time was passing by, maybe a lot, maybe it was mere minutes of heavy skirmishes. They were keeping up, but at that pace, soon enough their strength was going to give out.
Then the scene that haunted Katsuki’s dreams came blasting through and his fists tightened.
“Fuck! Why won’t this bastard die!” ‘So much blood… I can’t tell how bad our injuries are cause it’s everywhere… no time to catch a breath. This wasn’t the first time I’ve seen Deku in action, but he’s moving faster than I can register! Think, Katsuki, think! Fuck! Idiot! He’s getting sloppy! “Izuku!!!” I screamed and pushed him out of the way…’
Katsuki’s closed eyes tighten to the harsh flashback. Maybe he should have trusted Midoriya to dodge, but when he saw the blast, his body just moved on instinct and that’s when it happened. One wrong move on his part rocked him so badly that he’d been thrown against a tree, landing hard and almost immediately knocking him unconscious. At the same time, seeing him go down that way, Midoriya’s quirk exploded. Shit! Midoriya’s one trigger, and Katsuki had just set it off! His vision was starting to blur but in Bakugou’s mind it registered that his friend had spiked to 100% full power. Even though his friend had finally mastered that level it was still dangerous, but there was nothing he could do to stop it. And as his eyes closed, and mind faded into blackness, the last thing he saw was the brightest light being shot from both adversaries.
Bakugou opened his eyes again and let out a long exhale. That’s all he knew, all he remembered. His stupid mistake might have costed his friends life and that didn’t sit well with him, at, all. Using 100% alone could have killed Midoriya, let alone not knowing what kind of blast AFO had shot at the man. Though he knew that his friend hadn’t died right there, or he would have been found along with All for One. Clearly Midoriya had been able to move and get away.
So… “Where are you?” Bakugou whispered to the wind. Stupid dumb ass. If he’d been injured, he should have waited for help to arrive. “Making everyone worry you asshole!” He screamed and punched the ground. In his heart he knew that Midoriya wouldn’t just run away for no reason. There had to be one. What it could be he couldn’t even begin to comprehend. But if it was to die alone somewhere like some sick stray dog, he swore to holy hell he’d kill Midoriya’s corpse a second time!
He scanned the area, squinting through the suns glare at the tree line. If there had been a blood trail it would’ve washed away long ago and there didn’t appear to be any more broken foliage that wasn’t attributed to the battle. Bakugou got to his feet and groaned. So, this really was a dead end after all. Not surprising since the authorities probably went through the area with a fine-tooth comb and obviously nothing was found. Bakugou tilted his head up one last time with his eyes closed in thought and sighed… Of course, this wasn’t going to be easy… “But I’ll find you Deku…” A promise is a promise.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

A pounding in your head was no what you were expecting to wake up to, neither was the sight of a black padded room with glass doors.
To your shock you shot upright, making the pain in your head worse, you took in your surroundings trying to figure out what was going on, the floors, walls and ceiling were padded, like the type you see in mental hospitals. But one wall was made out of glass.
Shakily, you got to your feet, stumbling over to the glass like a new born deer and trying to find an opening. When that didn’t work, you took a few paces back and projected purple flames towards it. Still nothing.
Sucking in a breath, you ran towards it, throwing all of your weight into your shoulder in an attempt to shatter it.
“You’re just going to tire yourself out” you heard from the other side, as soon as you heard the deep rumble you remembered what had happened. The chase, the rooftop, the capture weapon.
Gazing down at your wrists, you could see the bruises it had left around them and your hands. It hurt to make a fist.
You watched as a figure came towards the glass, it was him again, “Let me out, Eraserhead” you barked, gritting your teeth at him. He was no longer in his black overalls but instead a pair of black jeans and a black v-neck top, that gave you an idea that you had been out cold for a while.
“Call me Aizawa-Sensei, like you used to” he smirked at you through the glass, putting one forearm against it to lean. Disgusted at his words, you threw another bolt of purple flames towards him, you watched it consume the glass and then slide down it. When the flames cleared you saw that he hadn’t moved an inch, not even flinched at the attack.
Desperately you conjured flames on the floor, walls and ceiling, trying to get something to burn, but all you did was make the room very warm, you were starting to sweat through your hero suit.
“You’re going to tire yourself out” he laughed watching your attempts as though he was watching a puppy chase it’s tail, you turned on the spot to face him again “This entire room-” he interrupted himself “This entire building is flame proof, I had it specially built for you” he smiled as though it was something you should thank him for.
You glanced around the room, taking everything in, this wasn’t something that was built over the weekend. “How?” you asked, coming closer to the glass so you could see the room beyond it “It took me a little over 4 years and a lot of help” he said casually.
“Wait, 4 years?” you repeated to which he just nodded, he was staring down at you, watching your features as they reacted to their surroundings.
4 years ago you were a second year student, he was your teacher, but he said ‘a a little over’ meaning you must had been a first year then. “4 years ago I was-” you started thinking out loud.
“Just joining my class at UA” he answered for you, your eyes stopped travelling around the room and stopped dead onto his, you wished you had seen some kind of humour in his face but he was serious.
“W-why?” you asked question you didn’t know if you wanted the answer to “I knew there would be a time when I had you with me, as soon as I saw your quirk I knew how much trouble it could cause if you couldn’t control it. May as well make your future home something you couldn’t burn down” he explained flatly, as though what he was saying wasn’t completely insane.
“I was your first year student, do you know how fucked up that is?!” you shouted, punching your fist against the glass. Immediately you regret your decision and winced at the pain it brought.
“It’s a little strange, I guess, but my intentions were pure, I wanted to build you a safe space you could practice your abilities. It was only when you were close to graduating did I see you in a different light” he raised his eye suggestively and you looked at him with disgust while you nursed your hand which you were sure was broken.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t have those types of thoughts about you until you were in your third year” he added, wetting his bottom lip with his tongue. You couldn’t face him anymore, you turned your back on him and walked away from the glass, you hated what you were hearing but you needed answers.
“Why this? Why all of this?” you gestured to the glass prison you were trapped in, “If you were interested in me once I’d graduated, why not talk to me like a normal fucking person” you spat at him, he features turned defensive against the hatred in your eyes.
“This-” he mimicked your gesture of the padded cell, “-was because of you” he spat back, “Me?” you laughed angrily, as though you were clearly the problem here.
“Yes, you! You chose Endeavour over me” he accused you, pressing the tip of his index finger against the glass as he pointed at you. Baffled at his words all you could do was shake your head and shout out another “What?!” of disbelief.
He had made up an entire narrative in his head that never happened, “When you joined Endeavour’s agency I knew he would turn you against me, I had to have a back up plan, something in place where he couldn’t reach you” he slammed his palm against the glass startling you.
At your scared expression he seemed to calm down, getting closer to the glass again, “I needed to protect you until I knew for sure that you loved me too” he said as though that was something you said to a person.
You walked back towards the glass, looking up at his grey eyes, it was strange to think that if the glass didn’t exist you would be at a very intimate proximity to him, but you were contained. He flattened his hand against the glass, expecting you to do the same.
Crinkling your nose into a snarl and distorting your features to show your anger you shouted “I will never love you”, making sure to drag out ‘never’. His smile dropped and the look in his eyes frightened you, it was a mixture of obsession, pure evil and determination.
“We’ll see” he announced, pushing himself off of the glass and walking out of sight. It scared you more not being able to see where he was than when he was staring at you, something you used to worry about only with spiders. When you could see them you knew what they were doing, but they were up to God knows what when they were out of sight.
How the Hell had you gotten yourself into this situation?
By the clock hanging tauntingly on the wall opposite your cell, it had been about 6 hours since you last saw Eraserhead. Every moment you had used to try an escape, you were thirsty, hungry and exhausted.
Standing with your back flat against the padded wall, you aimed both of your palms at the glass and conjured your purple flames. You pushed yourself as hard as you could, watching the flames grow and lick the glass.
He said it was flameproof, but if you heated it up enough surely it would crack eventually.
Straining yourself, you slid down the wall. It was impossible, the more flames you produced the hotter you made the room, it was making you sweat through your tarnished hero suit and you desperately needed water.
Condensation was starting to roll down the steamed up glass, at least that way you could have some privacy. You unzipped your hero suit and shimmied it round to your waist, allowing your torso to breathe.
You must have passed out from exhaustion because the next thing you new you were opening your eyes to the sound of tapping. Brushing the sleep out of the corner’s of your eyes, you blinked the sleep away, that’s when you saw Eraserhead staring at you and holding a big cardboard box.
Hurriedly, you pulled your damp suit back up to try and cover you and regain some modesty. “Move into the corner” he told you, when you didn’t move he raised his voice slightly “Just do it”. Shuffling back until you felt the padded corner hit your shoulders, you waited to see what he was going to do.
You watched as he pushed a button on his side of the wall and a section of the glass slid into another making an opening, your legs twitched as your instincts told you to run, but you were too weak to fight him and you definitely wouldn’t be faster than him.
Eyeing him cautiously, you surveyed him as he walked into your space, placed the box down on the floor and gestured for you to take it. As he backed away and turned towards the exit, you subtly lifted your hand and flicked your finger in his direction, sending a small flame towards him.
His back was turned but he somehow managed to sense it, whipping his head around to scowl at you but it was too late, the flame had already landed on his top and was starting to burn a hole in it.
“Shit!” he cursed, leaping past the glass and slamming his hand onto the button to seal you in. Only when the door was closed did he pull his top up over his head and toss it to the ground, stamping on it to extinguish the flames.
You made no attempt to escape, you just needed something to cheer you up and watching him dance about had done just that.
He was furious. His eyes were glowing red and if his hair wasn’t tied up in a bun you were sure it would be floating too, although he was now topless too. “What the fuck was that for?” he scowled at you, picking up the ruined top and throwing it into a nearby bin, “Payback” you smiled trying to avoid eye contact with him.
He started to mumble to himself so you took the opportunity to inspect the parcel he brought in, you shuffled along the wall and towards it, trying to hide as much of your exposed body as you could.
Ripping the tape off the box caught his attention, he swivelled himself around and watched you intently, under other circumstances you would have liked to stop and stare at his toned abdomen and strong arms.
“I went to all that trouble to give that to you and this is how you repay me?” he scolded you, you ignored his words and opened the flaps to reveal what was inside. Spotting a plastic bottle your hands sprung for it, you twisted the cap off and sniffed it cautiously, it smelt like nothing so you assumed it was water.
You had to stop yourself from chugging the entire bottle at once, you took a couple of big gulps and then set it to the side, you felt instantly so much better.
Inside the box was some clothes, a few snack bars and other bits. You laid the clothes out on the floor in front of you, noticing that they were all your size including some pieces of underwear, you glared at him not wanting to know how he knew your measurements.
“I thought you would want a change out of your hero costume” he commented, inspecting your every move. At the bottom of the box was a blanket, you stroked it first feeling the soft fabric grace your finger tips and then picked it up to reveal the bottom of the cardboard.
You squealed and threw the blanket into the air when you saw what was left, “What the fuck are those?” you gasped completely shocked, you heard him laugh as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“We have many different types of needs, I wanted to make sure I fulfilled all of them for you” he explained with humour in his voice. In your shock you had managed to kick the box away from you which sent its contents flying across the floor. It was a vibrator and other toys, but not just random toys. They were yours, from your home - the ones that no one other than you had known about.
“You’re sick” you shouted at him, “I think you’ll find I’ve been quite pleasant to you considering” he snapped back, “Do you know how much money the League of Villains have put out for your capture?” he barked.
You were speechless, you had no idea that the League was interested in you, or even knew who you were. Realising he’d caught your attention, he grinned “I could have just handed you over to them and let them interrogate you in whatever way they wanted” he was really trying to rub it in.
Crouching down to be at your eye level, he peered at you through the glass,“If you give me information on the Heroes plans and operations, I can prove to them that you’re not a threat and they’ll leave us alone and we can be happy” his voice had swiftly changed from anger to kindness, he was pleading with you.
“I will never help a villain, let them kill me” you shifted your body so it was leaning towards the glass to make sure that he could see how serious you were.
Running his hand down his face, he stood back up again leaving you to look up at him “I’m only going to ask this once, what are Endeavour’s plans?” his jaw tightened and he waited for you to answer.
You pushed yourself up off the ground unsteadily and strutted over to the glass, leaning your body against it and staring at him dead in the eye “I’ll never tell you” you spat, refusing to back down.
He shook his head lightly and moved his eye line to the ground, “I really didn’t want to resort to this” he muttered, when he raised his head to peer at your angry features his eyes were soft and for a second you believed him.
“Actually, I really did” he smirked and leaned out of sight, you heard a mechanical thump from over your head.

warnings: extremely negative feelings towards a sibling, distressing / intrusive thoughts. placed under a break due to the content of the message. remember, I'm not a mental health professional.
updated with additional viewpoints from readers at the bottom!
I'm sorry in advance.
I really hate my older sister. She never respects my boundaries, insults me frequently, and is just annoying and hypocritical in general.
I've always had these issues with her, but she lived at her own apartment away from me and the rest of my family, so I've been able to control my hatred of her. But last year in March she moved back in and sold her apartment. She has no plans of leaving anytime soon, and I can't stand her.
We shared a bedroom for about a year because we were also taking care of my cousin who also moved in with us last year. My cousin has since moved out, but my sister is unfortunately here to stay for a couple of years. But with extra space, I was able to move into the spare bedroom and thought that would be the end of my problems.
It wasn't. In fact, she has become even more unbearable. The hardest part of this relationship is that she has a weird obsession with being with me. I'm not sure if this is because she loves me, or she's just weird. I think she's weird because my parents never act like she does.
Our bedrooms are right next to each other. There's really no reason for her to miss me. But every single fucking minute she's coming into my room to bother me. I would have more empathy for her if she acknowledged my limits, but she doesn't.
She's constantly cuddling me after I've said for MONTHS that I don't enjoy it and it makes me uncomfortable. She constantly belittles me by saying I couldn't live without her, and that I would be a mess if it wasn't for her (mind you, I've lived without her at the house for YEARS and I was perfectly fine). She's constantly in my business, interrogating me about every little thing. She once locked the door and wouldn't let me leave the room without answering her questions for 20 minutes; she asked me about a $30 Amazon order containing manga I ordered with MY OWN MONEY. And I had permission for my parents to order it! It wasn't her business whatsoever.
I've tried to keep her out numerous times; I've gotten in trouble for it. My parents say I'm being mean and that this is her way of loving me. What I feel like they ignore is that I'M UNCOMFORTABLE. Her way of "loving me" HURTS.
I've tried communication. I've had multiple meetings with my family about my boundaries and they say they'll change, but they never do.
Another factor that worsens this is that I have borderline personality disorder. I'm currently being denied therapy or intervention of any kind. I get told my mental illness is a result of me having an attitude and hating my family.
I writing this to you because I've been having very alarming thoughts recently. I'm been somewhat suicidal as long as I can remember, but this is different. I've been having nightmares about killing my family/my family killing me. I don't want to kill my family. As much as they have abused me, I know they truly love me deep down. But when I'm in a mental breakdown, I don't think for the most part. I'm afraid I'm going to do something to hurt them if they continue to push me. I'm too scared to turn myself into the police and I don't want to be taken away from my home. I truly need therapy, but it's expensive and I'm not allowed to get it.
Are there any options left for me? I love my family and I want to get better, but I can't stand them. It'll be a while before I can live on my own, and I don't think I'll make it that long.
I'm so sorry.
I appreciate that you came to me, however, please remember I am not a mental health professional.
I do not have the best relationship with my family. I've come to accept that they just exist and I moved away from them. I keep a strict level of familiarity with them for my own sanity and well-being. There are people in my immediate family I don't talk to anymore or only speak to in certain situations, with other people around to buffer my emotions. No one in my family understands or respects my mental health issues and I have ceased talking about it with them.
I will admit, I had to ask for help. I'm going to share the answer of someone I trust, because they are much more level-headed when it comes to something like this.
Use different words with your sister. Instead of "I'm mad or annoyed", use words that bring out more empathy - "You're making me sad and uncomfortable. You're hurting me." Anger is usually perceived as something within you, something you must control. But sadness is usually not perceived in the same light. People usually see sadness as something that has a cause and perhaps letting her know that she is the cause will have an effect on her. Using different words when speaking to her may slowly change her perspective.
When it comes to your parents, well, parents do not usually understand sibling dynamics. They're fucking useless most of the time when it comes to problems specifically between siblings. It might be better if you say something like, "Her constant intrusions are affecting my school work. My grades are going to drop." Usually, parents respond more urgently if you say you education is affected - and it doesn't matter if it's true or not, we're just trying to get them to help in some way.
I had to remind them it's summertime lol
Oh shit, you're right. Er. Well, In any case, it seems you've tried having reasonable discussions with your parents and it doesn't seem helpful to continue discussing this particular topic with them. Maybe get into fitness since it's summertime. Go outside, do something active. She can't cuddle you if you're running, right? Then you can also be stronger and feeling better physically improves mental health. Put some music on, go hiking or running, take yourself out of the situation.
I don't know if this is possible, but perhaps if you're experiencing a mental breakdown and you're afraid of hurting your family, run out of the house? It might be better to be physically away from them at that time to avoid saying or doing anything you regret. It may help clear your head and help your family realize that this is something that is truly debilitating to you.
I don't know your age, so I don't know if the school thing is relevant. It's only a suggestion.
You said it will be a while before you can live on your own. When I knew the cons of living with my family outweighed the pros, I did everything in my power to prepare myself for leaving because I needed a goal in order to survive. I needed distractions, reading, writing, gaming, music, anything else to occupy my mind and help control my thoughts. There was a time when I needed music to fall asleep (headphones in on low volume).
Also... uh.
I'm not saying you should do this. I'm only saying I did.
My siblings and I have physically fought before. One has scars from fighting me. The scarred one is the one closest to me currently.
Not saying you should do it.
But I did.
If anyone feels comfortable enough to share how they dealt with it in their own situation, please do. Maybe more perspectives can help this person.

some other experiences sent to me:
anon #1
I don't think I had a situation that extreme but my brother was a little like that. I honestly had to become kinda rude and indifferent. Like he'd always use my laptop and stuff and I put passwords on everything and just don't tell him. And then when he tried to hug or cuddle id say I don't liek it and just push him away physically now this soudns fucking obvious when I say it this way but like I don't think I read that u tried it ? Idk I discovered I have a loud annoying scream that neighbours will hear, and fucking strokg legs I used to kick him away but like I was tiny so I don't really endorse violence but I didnt like being close to a 'boy' essentially at taht age so yea... Idk man siblings are weird and I have had intrusive thoughts so I think I didn't handle it well but for a few years I became an asshole to him and then now I'm good with talking sometimes and I keep it short and sweet and I've mentioned that I'm sorry for being mean in the past bcuz like I am ? Bcuz I'm not an asshole ? ( But like I did what I had to do ) I hope u get the help and support u need
anon #2
I read the message from the previous anon and I have to say I relate to what they say. I wouldn’t say i’ve completely dealt with the situation when it comes to my parents.
I have 4 siblings and i’m the oldest, my sister that’s 2 years younger than me always gets in my way and is a tyrant. Because she’s much taller than me she overpowers me and i also have scars from when we’ve fought. My parents don’t intervene because they say we’ll make up soon and I honestly can’t stay mad at people for long. I also live with my parents and am not able to move out anytime soon until I get my degree.
A few weeks ago my mother was complaining to my father that I don’t help around the house and all that bullshit but it’s obviously not true. Anyway. My father came into my room and threw all my clothes from my cupboards on the floor and said my sister and I must get out of his house. He was literally pulling us and we were crying because where the hell would we go. My smaller siblings were begging for him not to chase us out of the house but he was ballistic. He was constantly throwing insults at me, calling me selfish and disrespectful. I was having a mental breakdown and I said i hope that God takes my life away because i’m too weak to do it myself. I kept saying that and when my parents heard me. They called me crazy and were laughing at me and said i should take it back because instead of me another one of my family members would go.
My parents don’t care about mental health and therapy. It’s all unnecessary to them. But after that night I tried to find my own way of getting rid of the negative thoughts, I choose to ignore what everyone tells me. I agree with everything that you said about trying to get away from their family when they have those thoughts. I try meditation and praying. I’m not sure if that person follows any religion but that’s what helped me. And writing can be cathartic. Also remember that you’re not alone, there are so many people out there who share your sorrows and can relate to your situation. I think about my little siblings who i’m close to and what it would be like if i wasn’t there.
Maybe if they could get a pet? I know having a pet can make you feel less alone and you feel a sense of responsibility towards them. As for their sister, she needs to see their point of view and tell her that she makes her feel overwhelmed with the things she does. She can spend time with her and try to make her understand that they need their space too.
anon #3
I also have sum advice 4 the sibling anon frm a fellow bpd buddy:
Does ur view of ur sister change from "i hate her" to "she's alright" sometimes? Viewing sum1 as all bad or all good is common in bpd ppl and usually changes alot. I rec writing down the moments where she shows she loves u. This could be thru buying smth for u or doing smth 4 u. I had a similar relationship w a friend and this exercise helped me remember that she might not have intentions to hurt me and might b trying 2 bond. Repairing the relationship might take a while. Talk alot if u can, it seems like ur family is at least willing to hear u out, even if there behavior doesn't change much. Keep sum distance if needed. Working out and finding fun hobbies is good.
If u feel like ur breaking down, try breathing exercises n identify 5 things u notice thru ur senses. What do u feel? What do u smell? What do u taste? What do u see? What do u hear? I personally like taking myself down rabbit holes. For example: I see a yellow jacket > this shade of yellow is a cool tone > what makes a color "cool" or "warm" > why do we associate red with warmth > what if the sun was blue > what if ocean water looked orange > is water wet
I usually end up forgetting what was making me upset. If it was a big deal I would still remember, but at least I would b less emotional and a bit more rational.
Search up cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy and try 2 practice sumthing similar 2 exercises u would perform w a therapist. Squeeze stress balls. Masturbate (this blog is perfect 4 that lol). Maybe watch some videos done by therapists on youtube. I watched a couple of videos abt therapists reacting 2 fighting in movies and I learned alot (this video was very fun to watch)!
Anyway that's what helps me! Good luck 2 u!!!

Happy birthday Himiko!
==================
Tumblr media
==================
Genre: Wholesome (attempt at) to angst
Fandom: Boku no hero academia
Characters: Mr. Compress, Twice, Shigaraki Tomura, Himiko Toga, Dabi, Magnet and Kurogiri.
Warning(S): Mentions of death, hints at child abuse and maybe manga spoilers too.
Summary: It’s finally Toga’s birthday (07/08) and she is determined to make this day the best one in her life and to force everyone in the League of Villains to take a group picture. Some might be unwilling to do it at first but they are secretly pleased about making the youngest member of the group happy. Little do they know…
==================
I don’t know who is picture’s owner but I found the picture here.
==================
“Come on, please! It will only take a few minutes maximum I promise!”
“It’s still a no from me Toga, I don’t see the point of doing one of these ‘photo shoots’. It won’t change society’s perspective so why should we do it?”
“But it’s my birthday today and you know I’ve always wanted to do a photo group!” The now-adult woman starts swinging her arms up and down like a child whose mother just disagreed to buy them something.
“What would we even get from doing that?” Even behind the giant hand covering his face, the venom in Tomura’s tone was obvious.
“Well-“ Toga didn’t even start explaining that the blue-haired man had already taken off his gloves and chased her around the bar.
======
A few hours later, the leader of the League of Villains stood in the middle of a deserted park, facing him was Toga and Kurogiri currently busy placing the camera in the right direction.
Suddenly Dabi’s annoying voice materialized a few feet away from him.
“Look at you, the oh so scary S-rank villain, being ruled around by a crazy and childish teen.” He snickers under Shigaraki’s death glare.
Compress, who was playing with cards in a nearby spot until now turned around to look at the duo. “You know Dabi if I was you I wouldn’t tease him that much, since you also agreed to participate in this group picture thing.”
Dabi blushed a little and seemed ready to punch someone. “In my defense, she had very good arguments.”
“Sure sure we believe you, you roasted chicken man.”
“The fuck did you just say?”
These two never got along, but this had to be expected considering that Dabi insulted him in their first meeting, which seemed like so long ago already. If they were left alone a few minutes more, hell, even a second more they probably would have thrown a fist but they didn’t have the time to.
“Guys it’s ready, get in the places we’ve discussed before!” Dabi and Tomura both mumbled in annoyance and unwillingly walked over their assigned spots, walking as slow as possible and making sure everyone knew they were not happy about that. Compress just stopped playing Poker with Spinner and the both of them just normally walked to the place, chatting about anything and everything on the way.
Magne sighed, putting down her weapon as she couldn’t have it during the picture, it had been a few weeks since they started to work together and Toga already knew she would swing her weapon at someone after or during the picture just for fun. Talking about her she was now bouncing happily to her spot humming in content, Twice following close behind with his costume, no matter how much she tried to, he wouldn’t take off his mask, much to her disappointment.
But that didn’t matter, today was still a good day and as Kurogiri also posed in front of the camera, she could feel her heart thumping in her chest in excitement. This was the first time she would do something normal with her friends without feeling pressured to do it and damn did that felt amazing.
The audible backward counting of the device seemed to grow louder as time passes, it was coming to an end and she was barely able to keep herself in place. Magne looked at her with an eyebrow raised, no one was humanly this excited to take a picture, what was up with her?
“3…”
“2…”
“1…”
A chorus of ‘CHEESE!’ echoed in the place as the device flashed a blinding white light on everyone’s visions, earning a few groans and these people jumped away right after the picture was taken. Toga hurried towards the camera to snatch the freshly made picture as Kurogiri shouted to be more careful with the expansive machine, she didn’t listen to him though as she was too busy examining the paper in her hands with starry eyes.
Suddenly her smile faded.
“HEY DABI WHY AREN’T YOU SMILING IN THIS?”
“I already agreed to participate in your damn picture, I am not going to smile for shit. This wasn’t part of our deal, talking about that I’m still waiting for my payment.”
“Oh whatever, I’m still going to cherish this forever!” She hugged the picture tightly with a smile, not the psychotic one, just a genuinely happy smile. The sight just made Dabi turn around, not able to look at such adorableness, Twice smiled under his mask, her happiness was contagious okay.
“Toga, if you make us do something like that ever again I swear I will disintegrate you.” Tomura hissed, starting to scratch his neck. A normal person would nod their head and run away in fear but Himiko Toga wasn’t a normal person so instead of doing that, she ran straight in Shigaraki’s arms, almost knocking him on the ground.
“Haha, thanks Tomura-kun you’re the best best friend someone could ask for!” The sudden compliment froze Shigaraki in place, no sounds came out of his mouth as he just awkwardly stood there before Toga finally released him and changed target.
“whAT THE FUCK GET OFF-“ Dabi shrieked as he got tackled hugged from behind, the cat-like girl who jumped on him giggled in amusement.
“IF YOU DON’T GET THE FUCK OFF I WILL BURN YOUR FACE OFF!” Dabi might be screaming that but he wasn’t trying to push her away, Toga noticed that and smiled brightly.
“You might be stubborn but you’re always so helpful, I’m glad that I met you!”
“Wh- I- Gh- Hh- EH-“ No coherent sentences spilled from the burnt man’s mouth.
“Are you on drugs or something?” And she was already running to Magnet by the time he had finished his sentence, also attacking her with some compliments before moving on to another person.
“I don’t know if I like her stabby phase or this genuine happy phase better, both are scary as fuck.”
“I agree with you for once.”
The rest of the day was spent with Toga just bouncing around in happiness, blushing even more than usual which everyone thought was impossible, and stabbing people left and right, but again we were talking about Himiko so this wasn’t new. It was just odd to see anyone in the League this happy, but it could only promise a good future am I right?
=======
Toga sat dully against the grey and cold wall of the cell, hugging her knees to her chest and resting her head on them. She never felt that empty since she was born and it was… odd. She overheard how the policemen were going to execute her the very next morning they planned to burn her against a heater, what a joke.
She was sure that when she was brought here, they have seen the scars on her back, that was probably what had inspired them with her execution. She turned into a young adult and the heroes and policemen stopped being ‘kind’, a few years ago she found out that they were a little more merciful with children, blaming it all on their parents but the second they turned 18 all the mercy was gone as fast as it appeared.
Her mind waltzed back to her execution.
The thought of going through that punishment again made her tear a sob through her throat and a tear rolled down her cheeks. If she doubted it, now she didn’t, the heroes never considered her and the other members of the League as human beings, just nuisances that they needed to get rid of in the most hurtful way.
As if on cue, the wounds on her back started to sting, making her fall down on the floor and hissed miserably from the pain in her wrists, did every blotch decided to hurt her now out of all times?
It hurt, a lot, and she couldn’t do anything about it, from the moment she was thrown into that cell she knew she wasn’t going to rest but she never thought it would be because of being kept awake by the agony, being chained to the cell’s wall didn’t help ease it. It made it worse since it hit a little too much close to home for her liking.
For some reason the heroes let her keep something in her pocket, why? She had no clue but she didn’t give a care, more like she couldn’t.
She hugged the group picture of the League, pressing it against her heart in an attempt to stop the tears and sobs from escaping her throat. She knew they couldn’t come to save her, she was going to be executed tomorrow and nothing could stop that. She didn’t care about dying or she thought so at least.
After years of searching and rooming in the streets, she had finally found her place in this world and they decided to take that away from her.
The fact that she would never be able to see them again hurt more than dying ever would.
==================
I have gotten the heater idea from the story called “Let’s never go home again” by MockingRed on Archive of our own.
This story is awesome and I really recommend you take a look at it if you have spare time.
If you are confused by anything or need to point out something you’re free to leave a comment.
Have an amazing day/afternoon/night.
