tommy (at this point already casually dating buck) hanging out with eddie and calling him out on his feelings
alternatively eddie last minute helping maddie before the wedding and maddie calling him out on his feelings
or both
both? both. both is good :D i hope you enjoy it, it got a little long haha! if you want to send me a buddie prompt, click here!
Tommy is the first one to bring it up.
They're finishing up on the basketball court, and everyone has filed out by this point, leaving the two of them alone. Tommy is driving Eddie back anyhow, and today was an intense game, so they're taking their time.
Why Tommy chooses to bring it up before the car ride, Eddie doesn't know. But what a way to make it awkward.
"Hey, man I need to tell you something," he says as they return to the car. "So you're not blindsighted when it happens."
"Everything okay?" Eddie asks, clearly concerned.
"Well, not really." he lets out a tired laugh. "Uh...I'm going to be breaking up with Evan. I wanted to tell you so that, you know, you could do what you do and be there for him."
Shocked, Eddie steps in front of Tommy, "Wait, what? I thought things were going great with the two of you." he feels his gut twist uncomfortably - the last thing Eddie wants in the whole world is to see Buck hurt again. "Tommy, come on, Buck is great. He's amazing. There's not a thing about him to not like."
Tommy scoffs, "Believe me, Eddie, I know that."
"So then what's wrong?"
"Eddie, seriously?" Tommy rolls his eyes. "I can't keep dating him and ignore...whatever it is you two have going on. I like Buck, a lot, I do but, there is clearly something between the two of you."
Eddie lets out a small laugh of disbelief. "Tommy," he says, grinning, trying to find his footing in this conversation. The rug has been swept out from under him. Him? And Buck? No way. "He's my best friend. That's all."
"You know Eddie," Tommy rolls his eyes, walking past him now. "I know everyone is a bit of an idiot with love, but you're acting obtuse purposely."
Eddie turns around and follows, "Hey," he snaps. "I'm sorry if we're too close for you to handle, but I'm not going to apologize for being his best friend."
"I don't want you to Eddie, really, I don't. But you should both take your head out of your asses so that you can stop hurting other people."
That stops Eddie from making a retort.
Tommy picks up his pace as he walks over to unlock his door, as though he can escape Eddie and erase the fact that he is also driving Eddie home. That they are going to have to share a space for twenty minutes before Eddie can leave and be alone, and send Tommy on his way to break his best friend’s heart.
Does Eddie love Buck?
Of course.
Buck is his best friend. Why wouldn’t he love him? How could he not? Buck is beautiful, and kind, takes care of his son, and has been there for Eddie since the day that they met. Buck is honest and hopeful, Buck is tender and funny, he is knowledgeable and earnest. He’s the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Eddie knows all this, and of course he loves him for it.
But that doesn’t mean he’s in love with him…does it?
***
“Thank you so much for helping me Eddie,” Maddie sighs as they walk into her house, Eddie with boxes stacked in his arms. He doesn’t even know what’s inside them - Maddie needed help, so he agreed.
“Sure thing,” he kicks the door shut and follows her to the kitchen, gently laying the boxes on the table. “Here’s okay?”
“Perfect,” she rubs his back. “Want some coffee? You’re welcome to stay for a while.”
“Coffee sounds great, thanks,” Eddie nods, watching her move around her kitchen. He feels a little awkward–he likes Maddie just fine, but really, he hasn’t spent too much time with her, so he isn’t sure where to strike conversation. They already spent an hour talking about kids in his truck, he feels like he’s used Christopher enough.
“So,” she says, tone careful and light, prepping mugs. “Did Buck tell you about Tommy?”
“Yeah, he did.” Eddie murmurs, Tommy and Buck broke up three days ago. Eddie listened to Buck tell the story, and hugged him tight. He gave him beer, ordered him food, and let Buck stay over for the night so he wouldn’t have to be alone.
At least you’re always going to be here, Eddie, right?
Nowhere else I’d rather be, Buck.
Eddie broke up with Marisol a day later. He has tried not to think too hard about why that is but…he has spent the last three days thinking about what Tommy has said.
Eddie clears his throat. “It sucks, I thought this would work out for Buck for sure.”
Maddie sighs sadly, starting to prepare the coffee for them, before she turns around and gazes at him fondly. “I already knew it wouldn’t.” When Eddie just continues to look at her, she rolls her eyes and smiles. “Eddie, come on.”
“What?” he asks.
“Seriously? You’re going to make me spell it out for you?”
He feels his heart skip a beat, understanding dawning on him. “Maddie,” he shakes his head with a small laugh, although what he wants is to run in the other fucking direction. “Listen-”
“All I do is listen, Eddie. I listen to my brother talk about you like you hung the sun in the sky. I listen to him complain when he can’t see you and Chris. I listen to him talk about everything you do for him, everything you say to him.”
“He’s my best friend,” Eddie says, feeling cornered.
“I know that I really do. And maybe I’m wrong, maybe I don’t know you as well as I think I do but…I know my brother. It could have never worked with Tommy, because he was too busy being in love with you.”
“Maddie-”
“Hey, maybe I’m wrong,” she says, pouring their coffee. Why do these things never happen when he’s about to leave? “But look into his eyes Eddie, and you’ll see it. Promise me.”
Eddie doesn’t know what to do.
A little part of him admits that he’s afraid to look. Afraid of what he’ll find.
“Maddie,” he says softly. “He’s my best friend.”
“Eddie.” she sighs. “You look at Buck the way I look at Chimney. The way Karen looks at Hen. The way Bobby looks at Athena. This is so far beyond what you think it is. Promise me you’ll think about it.”
“I promise.”
***
Eddie thinks about it all the way to Buck’s house.
He thinks about his life, about what makes sense, about his son, and what makes sense in his son’s life. He thinks about the obvious - is he happier when Buck is around? Yes. Did he like Marisol? Not really. Was that because of Buck? He doesn’t know.
Does he miss Buck when he’s not there? Yes.
Does he think Buck makes him a better person? Yes.
Does he love Buck? Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
He makes it to Buck’s apartment and knocks on the door. It opens a moment later.
Look into his eyes, Eddie.
Eddie looks.
Buck smiles, bright as a thousand suns. Just because Eddie thought to come over, to just spend time with him.
Buck’s eyes sparkle – there is love there, warmth, undying devotion.
Eddie, finally, can see.
“Can I come in?” Eddie asks.
Buck steps aside, and Eddie takes the first step into the rest of his life.

HI DIANA! This is a little longer than I planned, but I'm not sorry about that.
if you keep reachin' out (then I'll keep comin' back) Buddie || 2k || Teen
Eddie wasn’t always the guy in the harness repelling down the side of a cliff and when he was the guy repelling down, Buck was usually right there next to him. Today was a different story though. Buck had a minor wrist sprain, nothing so bad that it benched him, but just bad enough that he couldn’t do any heavy rescue for the next week.  Which is why Eddie was getting harnessed up instead of Buck. Eddie really didn’t mind these kinds of rescues, they could be really fun and the adrenaline rush of jumping over the side of a cliff would never get old. But he really preferred doing these kinds of rescues with Buck next to him instead of Ravi.  Not that Ravi wasn't great. He was. It was just… Buck was Buck. Eddie trusted him implicitly and not having him going down the cliffside with him always sucked. The only consolation was the Buck was going to be on the other end of Eddie’s line.  “All set?” Eddie asked as Buck ran his hands over the harness, checking to make sure everything was secure.  “Yeah,” Buck said after giving the harness one final tug. “Be careful.” “I’m always careful,” Eddie said and grinned as he lined up to drop off the cliff. “Plus, it’s just scaling a cliff. It’s not that fun.” “Don’t make me jealous,” Buck said, leaning in close and tugging at Eddie’s clips like he hadn’t already tested them three times. “I would never,” Eddie winked, relishing the way Buck blushed. It probably wasn’t the best idea to flirt with Buck before a rescue but Eddie couldn’t help himself. He’d been struggling with keeping his feelings for Buck locked down for months now, maybe even longer if he was honest with himself.

I'm a simple person. I just need Buck to get kidnapped and Eddie to go all Staff Sergeant Diaz on everyone trying to figure out where his man is. And then at the end he loses it because he needs to find Buck and he's not getting closer and he's not Staff Sergeant Diaz anymore but just Eds. (Bonus if fighter Eddie era makes a show)
Anyone seeing this: you have my full permission to write this as a story (let me know tho cause I NEED to read this)

This is for my Buddie friends. My buddies, if you will.
I'm recently super in love with Eddie and Buck are already married when Buck joins the 118 and it just never comes up. Or they don't believe him. Or I don't know. It doesn't matter. Whatever the reason, the 118 fam and friends don't know that Buck is married. I've been reading fics like this recently. They're fun.
But there also aren't very many of them. So, first of all, if you have any recs, please send them to me.
Second of all, I had to come up with my own idea for something like this so keep reading to see what it is.
Trigger Warnings: canon typical violence and abuse (Maddie and Doug plus Buck), life threatening situations typical and atypical to the show, witness protection, Eddie potentially thinking Buck is dead so maybe tempory character death, and I think I'm going to make it where the Buckley parents are killed in a car accident or something. I would tag more things if I actually wrote this or anything.
So. Let's start at the beginning. Evan and Maddie Buckley are living with their parents when Doug comes into the picture. Maddie is so in love with him, it's a little concerning. At least, according to her parents. They are very adamant that she needs to stop seeing him.
She doesn't. She fights them tooth and nail to be with Doug. Her little brother Evan is torn between supporting her and agreeing with their parents. But he's young. He doesn't understand.
Sadly, their parents are killed in a car accident. Maddie fights to keep Buck and she's able to become his legal guardian. Doug becomes the dad Buck always wanted. For a while, it's good. It's great even. They're a small little family, but they're so, so happy. It's amazing.
Until it isn't. Until Doug shows his true colors. He gets so angry so fast. And might be young but he's not stupid. He knows that Maddie is hurting. So he starts acting out. When Doug is mad at him, he leaves Maddie alone. That's all that Evan cares about. If only he could do more. But for Maddie, he can at least be the one who ends up in the ER. Not her.
But Maddie can't let him keep doing this. She has to protect her little brother. They live in this horrible limbo for a few years until Evan is 18. He crashed his new bike that Doug bought for him. He's going to be so mad. He has to warn Maddie. Or maybe... maybe he can convince her to leave with him.
"You and me, Maddie. Come on. Let's go. Just the two of us."
And she wants to leave. She does. But she knows that Doug won't let them. Won't let her. But she agrees. She knows what she has to do. The next day, she watches him leave in the Jeep. She's battered and bruised, but watching him leave actually feels like a weight lifting off her chest.
Evan travels. He goes everywhere he can, trying to find somewhere he belongs. He worries about Maddie every day and sends post cards to her work so she knows he's okay. She holds onto them like a lifeline.
Evan eventually ends up in Texas. That's where he meets Eddie. Helping out on a ranch. It's hard work, harder than anything else he's done up to this point. But being there with Eddie actually makes it fun. He never wants to leave. He even gets invited over to the Diaz house where he meets a tiny little Christopher. The Diaz family is the one he always wanted. So warm and fill of love. They take him in, teach him Spanish, teach him how to make the best food. Teach him about family.
It's no surprise to anyone when he and Eddie start dating. He keeps Maddie updated through his post cards until one day he gets one in return. He recognizes her hand writing. She says she's so happy for him. And how she wishes she could meet Eddie and his son. But she also says that Buck shouldn't send her anymore cards. How Doug found one and how he had wanted to go to that place and bring Evan back home.
And, well, Evan can't do that. He needs to let Maddie know that he's okay. So every so often him and Eddie take a little road trip to send a postcard to Maddie from somewhere else. Just to let her know he's okay. Plus, him and Eddie are going to get married and she has to be there.
But on the day they're supposed to get married there's no sign of her. He's disappointed but he doesn't let it get him down. He's marrying his best friend. He's adopting a son. His life couldn't get any better.
And then, of course, it all comes crashing down. Maddie's friend at the hospital, her only friend there, calls Evan.
"Maddie hasn't been to work in a couple days. She hasn't called or anything. I'm worried about her."
Evan has to leave. Eddie wants to come with him, but Evan won't have his family anywhere near Doug. And he's coming back with his sister this time.
Long story, short, Evan goes back home to check on Maddie. She's hurt when he finds her and he's already called 9-1-1 when Doug finds them. It's ugly. And they watch Doug kill someone. One of their neighbour's I guess. And the police show up. And they're all rushed to the hospital. And they're met with even more police. And the FBI. Turns out Doug wasn't just the bad guy. He was A bad guy. A bad guy in a whole family of bad guys.
And so Buck and Maddie have to go into Witness Protection until Doug and his family are taken care of for good. Evan doesn't even get to say goodbye to Eddie and Christopher. He just gets carried away to a new place to start a new life.
Alone.
He ends up in Los Angeles, CA. He's going crazy. He can't talk to Maddie or Eddie or Christopher. He can talk to his agent. That's about it. Despite his agents better judgement, he goes out for the fire department. He's too restless to do anything else. He has to help someone. He needs to do something useful. Meaningful.
And that's how Kyle "Buck" Jones joined the 118. How'd he get his nickname? No one knows.

Delirious Confessions
The firehouse was quiet, the rest of the 118 crew having long since retired to their bunks for the night. Buck sat alone at the kitchen table, a half-empty mug of coffee growing cold in his hands. He could feel the weight of exhaustion pulling at his eyelids, the aftermath of a grueling 24-hour shift that had been one emergency after another.
Eddie had been by his side through it all, as he always was—steadfast, reliable, and so achingly present that he could hardly stand it. They had saved lives together, fought fires side by side, and shared quiet moments of vulnerability when the adrenaline had faded and left them raw.
Now, with the night pressing in around him and the tiredness making his head spin, Buck felt something shift inside him. It was a truth he had been dancing around for months, maybe even years, but in the stillness of the firehouse kitchen, it bubbled up, unbidden and undeniable.
He needed to tell Eddie. He needed to say the words that had been haunting him, the confession that felt like it was tearing him apart from the inside out.
Buck stood, his movements unsteady as he made his way to the bunk room. His heart was pounding, a rhythm that seemed too loud in the silence. He paused at Eddie's bunk, watching his friend sleep, the rise and fall of his chest a testament to the calm that Buck so desperately craved.
"Eddie," Buck whispered, his voice a hoarse croak. "Eddie, wake up."
Eddie stirred, his eyes fluttering open, confusion etched across his features. "Buck? What's wrong?"
Buck sank to his knees beside Eddie's bunk, his hands trembling as he reached out, fingers brushing against his arm. "I can't keep it inside anymore, Eddie. I'm so tired, and it's like I can't think straight, but maybe that's good. Maybe I need to be this tired to say it."
Eddie sat up, concern replacing the confusion. "Say what, Buck? You're scaring me."
"I love you," Buck blurted out, the words spilling from him in a rush. "I love you, and it's not just because I'm exhausted. I love you in the morning when we're gearing up for a call, I love you when we're covered in soot and sweat, I love you when you're laughing and when you're hurting. I love you, Eddie," Buck continued, his voice raw with emotion. "I know it's probably the worst timing, and I'm deliriously tired, but I can't hold it in any longer. You mean everything to me, and I can't imagine my life without you in it."
Eddie's eyes widened, a mix of shock and something softer flickering in their depths. He reached out, cupping Buck's face in his hands, his touch warm and grounding. "Buck, I... I don't know what to say."
Buck's heart hammered in his chest, uncertainty creeping in alongside the vulnerability of his confession. "You don't have to say anything, Eddie. I just needed you to know."
But Eddie's gaze held a tenderness that Buck had never seen before, a depth of feeling that mirrored his own. "I love you too, Buck. I love you more than words can say, and I've been too scared to admit it. I thought I was the only one feeling this way."
In that moment, exhaustion and confession mingled in the air between them, creating a space where truth could flourish. Buck leaned in, his lips meeting Eddie's in a kiss that was both gentle and fierce, a promise of all the words they had yet to say.
And as they finally pulled apart, the weight of their shared truth settled around them like a blanket, offering comfort and a promise of a future where their love could thrive, even in the midst of exhaustion and uncertainty.

For 'one sentence and I'll write the next 1k' please if vibes hit, "You called me baby." 🤍
hiii bby you know very well that it was five sentences not 1k words ;) but well I made it halfway there anyway xx
"You called me baby."
Eddie has been swallowed by the ground once before in his life and it's certainly not an experience he would recommend to anyone but in this moment he is begging for a repeat trip.
Abort. Abort. Deny.
"What? No, I didn't." Eddie says dumbly, turning his back so he doesn't have to see the look of astounded confusion that splashes across Buck's face. He sticks his hands in the sink, fishing around in the bubbly water for the cutlery he knows is hiding at the bottom.
“Eds, you called me baby.” Buck says again and Eddie can feel his heart shoot up into his throat.
“You must have misheard me.” Eddie says. Yes, dig the hole deeper.
“I really don’t think I did.”
Eddie lets out a hiss as his finger slides along the edge of a knife and yanks his hand out of the sink to suck his finger between his lips. Buck is next to him in an instant, pressed up close and reaching for Eddie’s wrist to inspect the damage.
“It’s fine, Buck. Just a scratch.” Eddie says and then every bit of air in his lungs disappears in an instant as he watches Buck lift his hand to his lips and kiss the side of his finger.
Once, twice, and then a third time against the side of Eddie’s wrist before he meets Eddie’s gaze with wide blue eyes. “All better now, baby.”
Eddie thinks he might pass out, this is it, this is how it ends, but then Buck smiles at him, wide and bright and it shocks life back into Eddie’s veins. Eddie ducks his head and feels his cheeks go pink and Buck laughs quietly.
“Okay, maybe you didn’t mishear me.”
“Oh, I know I didn’t,” Buck says smugly and Eddie rolls his eyes. He’s still so close, a long line of heat along Eddie’s side with one hip propped against the kitchen bench and his long, deft fingers wrapped around his wrist, Eddie’s hand still held up between them. Buck’s eyes flick to Eddie's lips and he finds himself leaning closer until they are but a breath away from each other. “Say it again.”
Eddie leans minutely closer and whispers against Buck’s lips; “Baby.”
And then they are kissing and Eddie’s head is spinning and he doesn’t even notice when Buck lets go of his wrist and it falls back into the sink with a splash.
send me a sentence and i'll write the next five-ish

I had such a weird Buck/Eddie AU dream last night.
Eddie had bought an old house up in Boston, moving there with Chris. While Eddie can't see anything different with their new house, Chris immediately can see that it's haunted.
Buck is the ghost, he was a firefighter in Boston in the late 1940s and was a "confirmed bachelor." Some of his coworkers on the BostonFD in the 1940s figured out he liked men - and killed him. He has been haunting this old house where he was murdered for the last 80 years.
Chris realizes that there is a ghost in the house first. He ends up befriending Buck, who helps him with his history homework. Chris gets a project at school about the history of the city and Buck tells him everything. The teacher can't understand how Chris (as a new student to the local HS) knew about some of the local lore that isn't really written down - and certainly wouldn't be available to a school student.
The teacher has a conference with Eddie asking how Chris found out all that stuff about the town. Eddie ends up asking Chris and Chris breaks and says it's the ghost. Eddie, at first, didn't believe him. But he finally notices that stuff around his house has been cleaned up and tidied up for him when he's had a long day.
Finally, Eddie like... lit some ritual or something in the attic of the house and he could see Buck in the smoke (it was this weird effect where he blew the smoke and the smoke acted like it hit against a solid object so he could kind of "see" the outline of Buck in the smoke.
Buck, the ghost teaches Eddie to cook and does stuff like turn off the oven for Eddie. One day when showering, Eddie caught a glimpse of Buck in the bathroom mirror. Then Buck was gone for like a month or something and Eddie broke and bought a ouigi board to try to ask him where he went. Buck apologized for watching Eddie in the shower, but Eddie was ok with it.
I am not really remembering the rest of it, except Chris ending up going to college and Eddie staying in the House with Buck. There was also this bit where Buck couldn't leave the House, but Chris figured out that Buck could go anywhere they brought a chair for him. So they got this old folding chair from the basement and took it everywhere with them (so this aquarium, to a zoo, when they when on vacation to Texas) so that Buck could be with them too. It was so so sweet.

Buddie prompt for adoption
Throwing a prompt out into the wild. If you write it, please let me know!
Inspired by this amazing post about the parallels between Tara and Willow and Buddie, by @yramesoruniverse
Post season 6, Buck starts watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and gets really into it. He pulls Eddie in with him and even the rest of the team when he starts watching it on the station tv during quiet times on shift. They all get invested in it. Then they get to the episode when Tara dies. None of them had any idea it was coming when they watch it together.
And Buck loses it. It’s too similar to how Eddie was shot. Worse, because Tara and Willow had admitted their feelings and were in a loving, committed relationship. He didn’t even have that when he’d nearly lost Eddie.
Eventually Buck and Eddie, with the others, talk about what Buck went through that day. Which leads to them all talking about what they went through when he was struck by lightning, and ultimately to Eddie talking about what he remembers from when he was shot.
Which was a whole lot more than he’d told Buck during that conversation in their kitchen after his coma…
They name their daughter Tara, years later.

I’m thinking (I’m already doing it) of pulling a Buddie prompt list together based on quotes that could spark a Buddie connection or just inspire a Buddie fic. Quoted from the show, since I seem to have already done a few. I’m looking up Buck quotes now and then Eddie quotes, quotes from other characters about Buck and Eddie, etc. Also, might restart my rewatch (again) to pull quotes as I watch.
If you have a quote you would like see turn into a Buddie moment, feel free to send it! Let me know if you’d like it to be an established relationship or not if you have a preference.

Eddie in his "slut" era that leads him to wear that pink suit with no shirt underneath and buck freaking out about it and they get together. (Sorry, that pink suit is now my roman empire)
OMG that suit had me on my knees too!!
It's just too much for my delicate sensibilities, he looks so fuckable like that!!
And with Ryan's flushed and squishable cheeks it's too much!
I will LOVE to write that - once I get off work 😁

eddie and chris having a whole convo about tommy, and then eddie's feelings realization when chris starts talking about buck after in comparison (bonus: buck walks into the house and overhears)
thank you for the prompt! i hope you like it :) you can request one here!!
Eddie smiles tenderly as Chris recounts the time he spent with Tommy, while Eddie was out doing groceries. In the forty-five minutes that he had been gone, it seemed like he had a lot to say on the matter, going on and on about how fun he is, and how awesome he is, and how much Chris loves spending time with him.
"I'm glad you like him, kid," Eddie chuckles, moving around in the kitchen while Chris works on his homework at the table. "He's pretty cool."
"Well, not as cool as Buck, but yeah, pretty cool." Christopher agrees.
"You shouldn't compare Chris." he replies, looking over his shoulder. He's in the middle of making them enchiladas, which Chris is weary about, but Eddie is determined to make just right. Buck is coming over for dinner, and Eddie really wants to impress him.
Once, Frank asked him why it was so important to do these little things for Buck, the way Buck does for him. Eddie remembers feeling uncomfortable about the question - he doesn't know why that comes to mind right now.
"I'm just saying," Chris mumbles - Eddie hears a noise, making him frown, but Chris continuing his chatter makes him think he imagined it. "I really like that you have a new friend, cause you need them but-"
"Hey!"
"-buuutt," he stresses. "I don't want you to forget about Buck. I already miss him."
"I won't," Eddie promises, as if it were even possible. The idea of being without Buck is just about the worst thing Eddie could think of. Those times in the hospital, when Eddie didn't know if he would live or die...Eddie still has nightmares about it. "Buck is part of our family, that'll never change." He's warm just thinking about it - Buck is comfort. Buck is easy. Buck is knowing that no matter what he does, Buck will be waiting for him.
You're avoiding your feelings, Eddie, Frank says in his head.
"Well, you're with Tommy 'cause he does things with you that Buck doesn't, right? But Buck does a lot else for us, and he really loves us."
Sometimes, Chris will come at Eddie with these types of sentences and he never knows what to say back. The thing about kids, no matter their age, was that they were so honest. That type of honesty made Eddie uncomfortable.
Frank again, and why is that, Eddie?
"I know he does," Eddie says quietly. "You know I love him too."
"More than Tommy?"
Eddie sighs and turns around, looking at him.
"Of course more than Tommy. Buck is..."
Looking at his son, he opens his mouth and is about to say something about friendship, something about how there are different kinds of friends, and that's okay. But Chris' eyes undo something in him, and all Eddie thinks in his head is...I love Buck more than anyone but you, Chris.
Frank taps his pen on his notepad, irritated, What is Buck to you, Eddie?
Everything.
Eddie feels his chest constrict with uncomfortable realization - Chris looks at him strangely, not satisfied with an open-ended answer, but sighs, seeing that this conversation may not go further, and gets up from the table, grabbing his book to make it to his room. When the door shuts, Eddie sighs, going back to his cooking. He barely has a moment to process the fact that he's just admitted to having very big feelings about his best friend when-
"You gonna finish that sentence?"
Eddie whips around, eyes widening when he sees Buck standing there with a six-pack. He's looking at Eddie with such an endearing, soft look, gently placing the beer down on the table. He almost looks sad - Eddie knows that he's heard everything he's said to Chris without having to ask. He can see it in his eyes.
"You're early," Eddie says stupidly.
Buck laughs a little. "Well, I haven't been able to spend much time with you lately, seeing as you've been with Tommy so much."
"Buck, come on," Eddie laughs, turning back around. His hands shake a little as he goes back to chopping something, he has to take extra care to not cut off a finger. "He's just a friend. It's no big deal."
"Eddie,"
Eddie sighs and turns, backing up against the counter when he sees how close Buck is to him.
He's not an idiot - he isn't blind to how Buck has been acting lately. But now, with his own feelings at the forefront of his mind, and Buck standing so close to him, he is afraid.
What are you afraid of, Eddie?
Eddie's eyes glance down at Buck's lips for a quick moment, before they meet his eyes again.
"I'm going to say something to you," Buck says, his eyes soft, vulnerable. Asking Eddie to do the same for him. "I've been...kinda trying to get your attention for the last couple of days."
Eddie grins, "You're about as subtle as a car crash, Buck."
"With Maddie's help though," he continues with a smile, spurred on by Eddie's sarcasm. "I realized why. And it's about a whole lot more than feeling like you'd replace me."
"Buck, I'd never--you're..." Eddie puts a hand where it always goes, right by Buck's neck, feeling his pulse. He does that often, to remind himself that Buck is here, in front of him, alive. Because once, for three minutes and seventeen seconds, he wasn't.
Buck smiles sadly, putting a hand over Eddie's. "If you can't finish the sentence, Eddie, then I don't think--"
"You're everything," he whispers. "Everything Buck." And then he moves forward and kisses him.
As far as kisses go, it's the best one that Eddie Diaz has ever had. It's gentle, the kitchen bathed in soft light, Buck's hand still over Eddie's. Eddie swears that he feels Buck's pulse skip a beat.
Buck's lips are so pleasantly soft against his as they move, and Eddie feels himself release a shaky breath into the kiss, not quite being able to believe that this is even happening.
He pulls away, looking at Buck from under his lashes.
Buck smiles, tugging Eddie in for a hug, and Eddie hugs him back tightly.
"Sorry it took me so long." Eddie whispers.
"It's okay," Buck whispers back. "We're here now."

Need a fic where Marisol realises Buck is in love with Eddie and that causes tension in their relationship purely because I need Eddie to go to the team (minus Buck) and have this interaction -
Eddie: My girlfriend is being weird about Buck
Chim: Wow, doesn’t she know being weird about Buck is your job?
Bonus points if she figures it out bc of Taylor Kelly’s book

I am in the middle of MULTIPLE fics. Yet as I'm rewatching 4x14 my brain goes... what if Buck was shot while climbing the crane?
I don't have time to write that. Does anyone know any fics with that. OR EVEN BETTER: can someone write that 👀👀

HERE IT IS!
this kiss is something I can't resist Buddie || Mature || 1.6k
Happiness snuck up on Evan Buckley like a summer storm in Florida, but unlike a summer storm, the happiness he was feeling didn’t seem to be going anywhere. If anything, it was getting bigger, the feeling threatening to jump out of his chest at any moment.  He didn’t think breaking up with Natalia would lead to him being happier than he had been in maybe his whole life, but somehow it had been the first domino to fall and now here he was, blinking slowly to wakefulness with Eddie’s arm like a safety belt across his middle, keeping him safe and warm in bed.  How could he have guessed that texting Eddie a few hours before a shift that he and Nat were over would lead to Eddie showing up at his loft an hour later, out of breath like he’d run up the five flights of stairs to Buck’s floor. He really couldn’t have known that Eddie would walk into the loft, lean against the counter, and tell Buck he had just ended things with Marisol.  And there really was no possible way for Buck to have seen what came next. Not even in Buck’s wildest dreams did he think Eddie would look at him with his eyes all soft and say, “I’m in love with you.” Buck had blinked a few times and then, when he was sure this was really happening, he’d take three steps across the kitchen to kiss Eddie.  That was all two weeks ago, two weeks of secret touches, two weeks of waking up in Eddie’s bed to the sound of Chris watching TV before school, two weeks of nothing but happiness. Even the intense conversations about what they both want and need out of a relationship, late night talks about how Buck still sometimes wakes up and swears he can taste Eddie’s blood in his mouth, even Eddie quietly admitting that he can sometimes feel Buck’s ribs breaking under his hands as he worked to restart his heart. It was a happiness that was rooted so deeply in love and in the life they had been making together for the last half decade that Buck wasn’t sure it would ever go away, not really. As long as he had Eddie, he knew that the happiness would always be there under the surface.   “I’m not sure I can go the whole day without kissing you,” Eddie said, pulling Buck from his sleepy morning thoughts.  “Good thing you don’t have to,” Buck rolled and pressed a kiss to Eddie’s neck, then his jaw, then his mouth.  Somehow, they hadn’t had a 24 in the two weeks since they got together. They’d had a run of 12s and one weird 18 hour shift because half of B shift got food poisoning and A and C shift each covered half. Buck knew this shift was going to be the real test of their restraint.  “And good thing we still have an hour before we need to leave.”

Buddie soft morning
The first light of dawn crept through the half-open blinds, casting a warm glow across the room where Evan and Eddie were nestled under a cocoon of soft blankets. The world outside was quiet, the usual hustle and bustle not yet begun, allowing them a few more precious moments in their sanctuary.
Buck's eyes fluttered open to the sight of Eddie's peaceful face, his breathing deep and even in sleep. A smile tugged at Buck's lips as he watched the man he loved, the rise and fall of Eddie's chest a comforting rhythm that he had come to cherish. With the utmost care not to wake him, Buck inched closer, closing the miniscule distance between them, until his forehead rested gently against Eddie's.
It wasn't long before Eddie stirred, the sensation of Buck's warm breath against his skin coaxing him from the depths of sleep. His eyes opened to meet Buck's soft gaze, a silent greeting that filled the room with an unspoken affection. "Morning," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep but tender with emotion.
"Morning," Buck replied, his hand finding Eddie's under the blankets, fingers intertwining as naturally as if they were made to fit together. They shared a smile, and then Buck leaned in, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips. It was a simple gesture, but it held all the love and history between them.
The kiss deepened as Eddie responded, his hand cradling Buck's cheek, thumb caressing the skin there. They took their time, savoring the intimacy of the moment, the way their lips moved together in a dance as familiar as it was exhilarating. There was no urgency, no need to rush through the affection they so freely gave one another.
Eventually, they parted, but only just, their foreheads still touching as they shared soft breaths and quiet laughter. "We should probably get up," Eddie said, though he made no move to leave the warmth of their bed.
"In a minute," Buck replied, and that minute turned into several as they lay there, wrapped up in each other, exchanging lazy kisses and soft touches that spoke of a deep, abiding love.
When they finally made their way to the kitchen, it was with a sense of contentment, their hands still joined. They moved together with an ease born of countless mornings just like this, making coffee and breakfast with shared glances and small touches.
