summary; agreeing to join vernon spectate an underground boxing match wasn't how you'd expect to spend your friday night. you also didn't expect to see seungcheol, someone you've lost contact with for years, become a part of the ring.

it was the beginning of fall when your family moved to daegu.
though it wasn’t a big or dramatic move, since you’re moving from the big city to a smaller town in the same province, it was still big to you because it was your first moving experience.
you vividly remember watching the colored leaves fall from the branches and onto the pavement, being stepped on by pedestrians and you imagined they made those ‘crunch’ noises as depicted by the many cartoons you’ve watched.
you were only 5 years old.
“___, are you excited to see our new home?” your mother asked from the passenger seat, turning to see you kneeling on the backseat, admiring the outside view. you turned to her with a big smile, letting out an excited ‘mm!’.
smiling at your enthusiasm, your mother turned to your father who was driving; reaching out her hand and placing it over your father’s resting on the armrest of the car. “do you think she’ll like the place?”
intertwining his fingers with hers, your father gave your mother’s hand an assuring squeeze, “i’m sure she will,” he spoke, “if she doesn’t, we’ll just have to hope it grows on her.”
your mother laughs at your father’s statement; at the same time hoping that it wouldn’t come to that.
the car stops in front of a white double-story terrace house. the second floor had been extended into a balcony and you notice the few familiar plants from your previous house put on display. half of the wall on the outside of the second story was an exposed brick wall, which adds a little bit of red-orange aesthetic to the full white design of the house. the ground level had a black gate, with two front doors in the same colour with floor-to-ceiling tinted windows.
getting out of the car, you ran up to the gates, attempting to climb them before your mother rushed over and picked you up. “sweetie, that’s dangerous!” she pointed out, a frown on her face.
your father was at the boot of the car, stacking two of the many boxes together before making his way to the gates. “honey, the keys are in my back pocket, could you get it?” reaching out a hand into your father’s pocket and fishing out the keys. unlocking the gates and the front door, your mother placed you down on the ground to help your father with the boxes while you decide to explore the interior of the house.
running up the stairs to the second story of the house, there were three gray colored doors. being a curious child, of course you went through all three of them. you opened the first door that revealed the master bedroom, which of course is going to be occupied by your parents. the second door lead to a bathroom; and when you reached the third door - a pink sign was hung on the door with your name written on it.
pushing the door open, the first thing you noticed was a pink bed tucked nicely in one corner of the room. across it was a white study table with a few trinkets decorating the surface, followed by a wooden closet right next to it. at the foot of your bed stood a similar level bookshelf, filled with all your favorite books and coloring books; alongside some of your plush toys.
“do you like it, babygirl?” came your father’s voice from behind you. whirling around and flashing him a big smile, you excitedly nod your head as he crouched down to your level, giving your hair a ruffle.
“i’m glad you do.”
he then proceeded to pick you up and placed you over his shoulder, legs hanging over his shoulders. “daddy!” you squealed, giggling as he gave you a piggyback ride.
“honey! ___!” your mother called out, “come meet our neighbours!”
you stared down at the young boy from your father’s shoulder while he stared back up at you.
as your father sets you down from his shoulder, the roles switched; you’re now staring up at the boy while he stares down at you.
seeing how the staring contest would not end anytime soon, your mother placed her hands on your shoulders, introducing you to the young boy and the woman standing next to him who you deduced to be his mother.
“my, what an intense staring contest,” she chuckled. “we’re the lees’! that’s my husband, and this is ___, my daughter.”
“intense, indeed,” the woman chuckled. “we’re the chois’. it’s nice to meet you, ___. this boy here is seungcheol, my son. my husband’s out back dealing with the garden.”
she then looked down at seungcheol, lightly patting his shoulders, “cheol, did you bring what i asked you to?”
snapping out of the staring contest he was having with you, seungcheol handed you a paper bag which you accepted after getting a nod of confirmation from your mother. looking inside the bag, you see a container of brownies, a small ‘wah…’ leaving your lips.
“mom and i baked them last night! we hope you’ll like them!” seungcheol said with a big grin on his face.
placing a hand on your head, your mother smiles, “our little ___ will definitely like them. she has an incredible sweet tooth.”
“no, i do not!”
“___, sweetie,” your father spoke up, “you ate half a tub of ice cream in half an hour.”
“daddyy!!”
you were 7 when your little crush on seungcheol began.
you were in the playground, swinging on the swingset with your bear plush in your lap when a group of boys approached you. “that’s our swing,” one of the boys spoke, arms crossed as they stared down at you.
you stopped swinging and looked at the group, “you can’t claim a swing. it’s a playground for everyone.” visibly upset by your response, the boys stepped closer so that they would tower over you. “well, this is our swing now. get off.”
“no.”
you could see the face of the boys turn red - from anger and embarrassment that you were refusing to follow their instructions. as they continued to stare down at you, one of them noticed your bear plush, snatching it out from your lap.
“hey!” you shouted, getting off the swing to try and get your plush back, “give him back!”
“nuh-uh,” the boy retorted, raising it up above his head so you can’t reach it, “that’s what you get for sitting on our swing!”
you then shove at the boy, crying out, “i said give him back!”
“back off, girlie!” another boy said, shoving you back with a harder force, causing you to fall back onto the ground of the playground.
as the boys walked away with your bear plush, leaving you to cry on the ground. they tossed it around, occasionally dropping it on the floor and purposefully stepping on the poor plush, later on acting as if they didn’t mean to do so. witnessing the boys’ treatment towards your plush, you pulled your knees to your chest, hugging it as your cries grew louder.
“___?” a worried seungcheol called out.
crouching down in front of you, seungcheol places a hand on your head, gently petting it in an attempt to comfort you. “___, what happened? why are you crying? are you hurt anywhere?” you attempted to answer him. but, due to your crying, you had a hard time forming words, only letting out harsh pants and whimpers.
“easy there, ___,” seungcheol said softly, “take a deep breath, okay?”
when your crying calmed down, the older boy heard the laughters of the group of boys. turning his head towards their direction, he saw them taking turns throwing a plush bear at each other. seungcheol recognised the plush bear - it was the very same plush he had gifted you on your 7th birthday.
he then turned back to you, noticing that you were looking at the group with a frown on your face. pressing his thumb against your forehead, he gave you a gentle smile, “don’t frown like that, you’ll get wrinkles.”
turning back to the group, he let out a sigh, “they took your bear?”
you sniffled as you nod your head, wiping the snot from your nose with the sleeves of your hoodie. “do you want me to get it back for you?”
“p-please…”
nodding his head, seungcheol got back up on his feet, ruffling your hair before making his way towards the group of boys.
“hey, you rascals over there!” he called out.
you don’t know why, but you felt your heart race, a small blush forming on your face.
after seungcheol had gotten your bear plush back from the group of boys (mainly by scaring them off because imagine an older, taller boy approaching you with a scary look after talking to the girl whose bear you had snatched), he walked you back to your house.
as his parents were out working, it wasn’t unusual for seungcheol to spend some time at your place with your parents as he waited for his to return home. sitting beside you on the porch of the backyard of your back garden, seungcheol was eating a piece of brownie your mom had baked while you enjoyed a cone of vanilla ice cream.
“you need to learn to stand up for yourself, ___,” seungcheol spoke, placing the now empty plate next to him and looked at you. “but, i have you to protect me!” you responded with a smile on your face, earning a small laugh from the boy. “i know, ___. but, i can’t always be there for you.”
“d-does this mean you’re leaving me…?” you asked, tears welling up in your eyes. “oh, ___,” seungcheol said softly as he places a hand on your head, “that’s not what i mean. i meant it as in, there will be times where i can’t always be with you. you remind me of a puppy,” he chuckled. “maybe that can be a nickname for you, hmm?”
when your eyes light up and nod excitedly at the older boy, he lets out another laugh and ruffles your hair.
“alright then, pup.”

It's time for Step 4 Cove's posts, and first up is what choices change his look!
As before, my first post on Step 2 Cove's appearance modifiers will tell you a lot of what you need to know if you haven't already read it, but to summarize:
The things that your MC notices/favors/picks up/focuses on influence Cove's look, though there are some exceptions.
In some cases (though there are none in this step), a choice that changes Cove's appearance may also affect his coldness/warmness as well as his studiousness/sportiness. This is coincidental, so Cove's personality doesn't largely impact his look.
If you want a different Cove without using the Cove Creator, try choosing different aesthetic/taste-based options.
Specific to Step 4, however, there are a few key things to note.
Firstly, similar to Step 3 where some earrings would not be visible on Cove depending on what hairstyle he has, the same applies here. The black stud earrings will not be visible with the fluffy hair and the silver huggie earrings will not be visible with the tied-back hair. Ergo, Cove could be wearing earrings in one of your playthroughs if you have either hairstyle on him, but you just might not see them.
Also, the dark raspberry sleeveless shirt with the white anchor symbol and the yellow shirt with the orange flower pattern hide the silver ring necklace, so that's another thing to keep in mind.
Secondly, and I'll have to rip off the bandage for any poor person who wants their Cove to have a tattoo, but there are no choices that will give Cove a tattoo. It's something you can do only with the Cove Creator, which I imagine may be because one of Cove's tattoos can trigger people's trypophobia.
Third, it appears that the modifiers for Step 4 Cove's pants in Step 3 are not the ones actually used in Step 4. In all of my tests, Cove's pants always defaulted to the tan shorts with the gray trim and blue polka dots. If anyone has any evidence to the contrary, then I can test them out, but it appears that the plan was originally for Cove to have six different pairs of pants rather than four - with two of the pairs having color variation like Step 2 and 3 Cove have - but it was changed by the time Step 4 was made.
Below is what you would get if what I presume to be the original intent was kept in place:

There are two other types of pants - an alternate color version of both Pants #3 and #4 - but these aren't attached to any choices so they may have been scrapped even earlier.
In addition to this, though this is nothing the player themself needs to worry about, there is unused code in the game for Step 4 Cove's swimming trunks. This may have been for the scene where Cove strips down to his boxers to take a swim in the ocean, though he would've had swimming trunks on instead.
These are the choices that would've changed them:

If the MC was sick/scared and was brought downstairs by Cove, who asks if they want a drink (if non-Indifferent):

There are additional unused articles of clothing for Step 4 Cove, but these weren't attached to any choices (similar to the two pairs of pants mentioned above): two pajamas shirts and two pairs of pajama pants, as well as two formal shirts.
Cove also has code for a fourth pair of earrings, wristwear (for both wrists), and glasses, the latter two being connected to choices, but the game will simply change it to nothing. Cove's hair doesn't have an extra option exactly, but weirdly there are options to disable all of his hair (this won't give you a bald Cove, but default to the tied-back hair). I wanted to mark these just for the sake of being thorough, so if there's anything that says "[nothing]" rather than "[no change]" then just note that it's because the code is different for those options for the reasons above (so they might be calling for all hair to be disabled, for the fourth wristwear accessory, or fourth pair of glasses).
Keep all that in mind while checking out this list of chances you have to change Cove's look:

One undertheorised aspect of Elisabeth [yes I'm approaching the show like a research field] is that of the POV in Mayerling. Setting aside/ignoring my favourite interpretation (ie. Lucheni's POV colours every scene from beginning to end), I started thinking: could it be we're seeing it through Elisabeth's eyes?
The first time Elisabeth acknowledges the mirror imagery (which is built between her and Rudolf in the Vienna-based productions) is literally right after his death - "you were like me, you needed me / I left you on your own to free myself -- / The fault is mine". She seems to see "the truth" (what the show has constructed for us to see from the start - Elisabeth's emancipation and Rudolf's isolation) and blames herself for it. And that "truth", as it is represented in the show, includes (personified) Death.
But is it really "the truth", or is it what Elisabeth has come up with in her long solitary hours despairing in the crypt? Has she, while mourning him, just begun to think back on everything she knows about Rudolf and reinterpreted his life as a nightmare similar to her own - looking to Death for guidance and comfort and yet suffering as a result? Maybe Elisabeth isn't just observing; she's interpreting and creating (the narrative) before our eyes. What we see happen to Rudolf before that point is her hindsight. And ok the implications are kind of horrifying especially for Schatten reprises where Tod really goes at it physically, like, her imagining Rudolf suffering like that - like she has with depression as well, in DLT and WITW - over and over (in Mayerling too) and not being able to stop it because he's already dead.
Granted, there are some things that make this less likely: ie. the overall strength of the Lucheni interpretation (I think it's the canon one honestly, there's too much evidence to ignore) as well as the historical fact that Elisabeth remained mostly ignorant of Rudolf's political writings and aspirations even after his death, but it's still interesting to think about.
In any case I don't think Rudolf is in control of his own narrative like traditional fictional characters are - and why should he be, he's a minor character in a show using storybook/circus/etc aesthetics as an artistic device. He's in control of his actions within that narrative (ie. Elisabeth saying his death is her fault is not really true), but he's really a plot device. And therefore:
1)conspiracy bad XDD
2) Mirror imagery good, hence removing the mayerling kiss horribly bad
3) what if Elisabeth made up Mama, schatten reprise and Mayerling after the fact, while despairing and overthinking what she could've done differently during Totenklage (out of all the candidates for "narrator"/POV character, Rudolf is just about the unlikeliest person in the show - he's only born halfway in and dies before it ends)

4) i keep saying this ad nauseam but we do not really need more/expanded mayerling (or rudolf immorality) stuff in the show ahsjfkggkkf. I get that in terms of history and the public sphere, we need justice and spotlight for Mary, but the show is about the death of liberal politics through Rudolf and it's already unclear to some people so we don't need to make it more confusing for them. Based on the level of reading comprehension online re my favourite shows I don't trust people to understand the symbolic death of liberal Europe in the face of Hass AND the rudolf-elisabeth mirror imagery AND Rudolf as a historical person being complicated and shitty. The last one can be brought into it through acting I think, but we don't need to change the staging to be heavier on the historical Mayerling stuff. You can criticise the portrayal, you can think Elisabeth does a bad job of portraying Rudolf and normalizes abuse or murder or something, but you can't really change how it's depicted without wrecking the architecture of the show. Rudolf literally has no canon personality beyond "sad" [being gay for death is part of this] and "struggling politically"
I promise i'm not sexist and horrible btw akjsjdjdfkgkg. But like legit. Rudolf already comes as a matching set with the mayerling affair in the public sphere. Elisabeth is like the only thing where his political legacy (or lack thereof) is of equal importance, and the portrayal is generally sympathetic. I'm not saying we can't do more rudolf media that addresses it with more complexity, but Elisabeth is not the time or place - especially since if we did include more of the Mary stuff (as a staging choice, since the script is set), it would almost certainly fail to do anything meaningful in terms of her historical legacy, given that she wouldn't be named (can't stop the mayerling sequence to give a spoken rundown of events...), and her life and personality beyond the circumstances of her death would once again be overshadowed by her ending up in Mayerling

Yes there are quite a few moments of the show that's taken straight from popular cinema (there might be a few moments here that's just popular in general). And to be honest I really can't remember much from the one one mentioned and two below that I mentioned but I SWEAR there were more scenes. I can even imagine my mother going "omg this is just like the film"

Arnav Khushi's Choti Si Duniya
There was a very strong inspiration from Rockstar's moment where Heer tells Jordan that all the outdoor noise is now gone and this is their own world. Over here Khushi muses that she finds the outer world weird and this is her innermost sanctum - her, Arnav and their world.

The difference here though is that Rahul Anjali share more of a comedy friendship bond and Rahul is being a chill flirt while Arnav is being very very intentional, not quite open with his feelz, and there's just a LOT more history over here. SO this is not a copy more of a similarity that the makers MAY or MAY NOT have taken a look of.
The ‘Tika’ Scene
Thanks to @hi-this-is-permabanned Ok bonus points to IPK for making it look more aesthetic but this was COPY PASTE from the Hindi film Judaai. Essentially the second wife is more proper - shes raised abroad but she has better values and in one of the scenes where she undermines the first one and unintentionally proves herself as a better wife is during the ‘Tika’ scene. Tbh I had no idea what this meant during IPKKND. The swami track is a fever dream to me.

Do you have any headcanons about either of Kira's biggest fans, Misa and Mikami?
To be completely honest with you, I only originally came up with headcanons for Light, Near, Ryuk, Mello, and Beyond—BUT so far I've been good at coming up with shit on the fly so HERE WE GO! :D
✂️ -Misa and her parents were on vacation in France when her parents were killed, but because of them being tourists and Misa not speaking French very well, her witness testimony was heavily compromised. That's why the man who killed her parents was almost let go before Kira killed him. BUT, given that Misa was stuck in a different country with no parents, no translator, and no idea how to access her parents money, she couldn't get back to Japan afterwards, so she was stuck in France. That's where she was supposed to die—attacked by some random stalker in a foreign country—before Gelus saved her.
✂️ -Connected to the one above: Misa dyed her hair blonde because, while in France, someone approached her about becoming a model for their brand, and Misa, low on money at that point, said yes. This introduced Misa to the modelling industry, and she quickly discovers how fucking cutthroat it is. She finishes the first job but has the second snatched from her by an uppity French girl. Blonde hair and blue eyes are all the rage nowadays, you know? And sex is what sells, not generic prudish goth bitches, doesn't she know? Misa takes that to heart, dyes her hair, takes a pair of scissors to her wardrobe and comes back on scene looking like sex and death on legs. Needless to say, she steals her gig back fairly quickly. AND proceeds to rub it in that French bitch's face :) Fuck you Yves.
✂️ -After a guy dies right in front of her, Misa dives deeper into the occult. She already had a taste for witchy aesthetics, but she kept it to a minimum for her parent's sake. But when Kira comes to light and people start dying all around Misa, she decides that now is very much a time to buy all those voodoo and spell books that she always made herself walk past. She starts looking into Kira and trying to find him through tracking spells, but that doesn't work because she doesn't have anything concrete. She curses several of her modelling rivals just for fun, but she doesn't get into anything really nasty becauuuuse Rem shows up :3 With a murder notebook :3 And so Misa abruptly loses all interest in regular magic.
✂️ -Misa is bisexual, but she is so fucking repressed about it man, it's insane. She keeps telling herself that the burning feeling in her gut she feels every time she gets a glimpse of a fellow model's naked shoulder, her long neck, the curves of her legs, is rage. Obviously. This is begrudging jealousy brewing in her chest, maybe even hatred or competitiveness, definitely not attraction. Even though it may feel similar to the attraction she has for pretty men, it's totally not the same thing. Totally not. (Imagine the 'Starting Fights Because The Guy Girl is Hot And I Want Her On Me' meme and picture Misa starting shit with her fellow models).
✂️ -Misa is your stereotypical yandere. She and Light are similar in the way that they both are used to everyone falling in love with them, wanting to be with them, even trying to force themselves upon them, but neither of them are very used to rejection. But where Light has been taught by his father to take rejection (not humiliation, there's a difference) with grace, Misa has quite literally never been rejected before. You cannot reject her. She has learned to fight viciously for what she wants, and she can and will do anything to get whatever and/or whoever she decides that she wants. If that means killing someone, then she's laying out a tarp and selecting her sharpest knife. If that means locking you in her basement, she's putting tranqs in your tea and tying you up. Light's manipulation and lies are the only thing keeping him from being chained to the radiator in Misa's apartment. Though, being kidnapped by Misa and having her handfeed you in an alluring maid dress to try and Stockholm you into loving her doesn't sound so bad to me 👀 (Yes I'm a simp for hot villains leave me alone).
⚖️ -Mikami is canonically incredibly smart, but I picture him as less intrinsically smart and more as someone who worked extremely hard to get where they are. Mikami has very rigid societal views, and he's had them from a very young age, so it makes sense for him to have practically planned out his whole life in the way that he's always known exactly what he wanted to do. He was a very studious student, more so even than Light, because even Light made it a point to be social. Mikami's smarts are hard earned, but still incredibly impressive.
⚖️ -Mikami is known for going to the gym routinely and being strong (being jacked in a profession where you don't need to be jacked) but what you DON'T know is that Mikami took up body building so he could beat the absolute fuck out of people. In Mikami's backstory, we see him defend people from bullies repeatedly, even to the point where his other classmates abandoned him. I imagine getting beat up all the time doesn't feel good, so once Mikami realized that no one was gonna side with him anymore, he took up a rigorous exercise routine in his late teens. He even enrolled himself in a martial arts class to learn how to fight. Mikami got into ONE (1) more fight after that, and he fucked the other guy up so bad that no one else even wanted to get near him. If you're bullying someone in the hallway and Mikami Teru rolls up, you fucking sprint the other away.
⚖️ -After his mother died, Mikami was moved in with an estranged Uncle. The Uncle was fairly neglectful but Mikami enjoyed the freedom—it was certainly a better alternative to his mother always scolding him and punishing him for coming home with bruises and scrapes. Mikami was basically taking care of himself at fifteen and he liked it that way. He moved out at eighteen, and when his Uncle was arrested for drunk driving and tax evasion two years later, Mikami was the prosecutor that put him in prison. Not because he resented him, but because he was just another filthy criminal on trial.
⚖️ -Due to all the time he spends studying and living for the Grind™ (Jesus Christ someone knock this man out and take him on vacation) Mikami is a coffee fiend. He is feral for it. He has to brew his own coffee at home because the one time he got to the office and the coffee pot was empty he broke it. Maybe by accident, maybe on purpose; he doesn't really remember because the pre-coffee fog is fucking REAL. Mikami will fist fight you over coffee. But usually he doesn't have to because if someone gets to the pot before him he can just,,,,pick them up and move them (very gently) out of the way. However, every six months he has this whole health crisis where he goes on a coffee detox and becomes a tea drinker instead—like a werewolf but for tea. Teawolf 🍵—and he feels really good for a while... BUT then he eventually has to take another all nighter and the coffee demon Reawakens™.
⚖️ -Mikami has mild sociopathy. And I don't mean in the "Oh my God he's insane run!!!" type of way—I literally mean the actual disorder. Mikami has lowered emotional responses and empathy. It makes it really hard for him to connect with people, especially if they don't share a common interest, which means that even though Mikami is successful and fit and pretty—he has no friends. He occasionally goes out to bars whenever the loneliness gets to be too much, but he always leaves vaguely unsettled and frustrated because he just can't connect with people properly. He's had a few girlfriends before, but they all dumped him eventually because he puts his work first. (Of course, when you're Mikami's God boss this is the opposite of a problem ♥️). Given Japan's godawful stance on mental health, Mikami's never been diagnosed, and honestly he most likely wouldn't want to be, even to get help with it. It would hurt his reputation too badly.

fecto forgo:(sorry for bad pic i need to redo its entire reference sheet) just an hospital gown w medical tomes that werent removed from them (my best friend gave me that idea n what to add lol), i think theyre best described as a blob of weird elfilis slime that can take a humanesque form rather than a human form that can blob, theyre constantly melting n all its veins are visible, theyre v cold to touch n in the tube their body flows in a way that gives them cherub imagery similar to what was intended w canon forgo, also its legs are useless, theyre very weak and unstable and not naturally formed (also since i picture the elfilis split as some uh.physical form?? of disassociative trauma random trivia when they front post game elfilins eyes get replaced w theirs, just for the aesthetic)(credits to my bestie for coming up w that interpretation lol)

and miscellaneous designs i havent given a final sheet to yet!! taranza and dark taranza r based off more fantasy victorian (? medieval???) clothing, susie is holographic bc i didnt want to give her gray shading n her limbs r all floaty (i imagine shes always making some weird electric noise due to that), gooey is just like cute tbh? their cape is based off their mock matter form, chuchus hair is based off the shape the octopus species she apparently is has, i dont have any notable commentary for drawcia or claycia (was that her name) other than drawcia is like a paint blob.also claycias supposed to be way chubbier but i underestimated how huge her coat would look.gotta fix that

Ranking the ASOUE parts because I’m bored and my friend isn’t online
i would love to keep it extensive but i also don’t want tumblr to crash so i will keep it brief. spoilers, obviously. also charcater death.
13. The Grim Grotto
Listen just because it’s 13th doesn’t mean it’s BAD, it just means i’m kinda indifferent to it as opposed to obsessing over it like i do with the others. It’s just that I’m not THAT into nautical themes and I have 2 nautical-themed assignments to do in school today so I’m a little sick of it.
Also, I’m just not that big on Fiona as a character. I didn’t really like the two-girls-hate-each-other-for-no-reason thing that she had going with Violet (especially because it was really out of charcater for her), her romance with Klaus seemed out of place, and her being related to Fernald just seemed like it was pulled out of nowhere to get an emotional reaction. Again, I get why you’d like her and the part, it’s just not for me personally. Also esme’s worst outfit was featured here. Also in the netflix series it just wasn’t as funny as the other ones and that’s a huge thing for me
12. The Wide Window
Honestly didn’t expect this one to be so low, but it’s difficult to choose between these bc i love them all </3 anyways I actually liked Josephine as a charcater, I like the idea that she wants to help the children but is rendered basically incompetent because of her fear, they really popped off with that. HOWEVER they did a very similar thing with Hector but way better so alas </3 12th place
Also like I said, not a massive fan of sea-themed aesthetics. Also also I LOVE all of count olaf’s disguises but I’m kind of indifferent to captain Sham so that also might be why. Also, again, the rest of the netflix series was way funnier
11. The Carnivorous Carnival
Honestly, not much to say about this one. The “not really feeling strongly one way or the other” section has come early this year apparently. Esme and Olivia both SLAYED in their outfits and we got introduced to the circus crew which was cool as fuck. Sadly I have knocked SEVERAL points off for horny count olaf. The scene where he describes madame lulu as buttered really makes you appreciate how little force it takes to rip one’s ear off. It provides me with a new and informed understanding of the phrase “skin crawling”. other than that it’s pretty good :)
10. The Slippery Slope
Now I was one of those people who didn’t know what Mount Fraught syndrome was before reading this book, and the reveal of why the mountain was named that fucking eviscerated me. I was used to this series pulling shit like this constantly and yet this one destroyed me for some reason. If you already knew what mount fraught syndrome was before reading/watching this scene then you didn’t get the full experience and i’m sorry for you.
I also don’t LOVE quigley and violet. I know i just said that about klaus and fiona so it kinda seems like i hate romance, but i really dont. i hate forced romance. romance just isn’t daniel handlers strong suit but he insists on writing it anyway, and that’s fine. it’s what i do with basically everything i write about. Especially since in the netflix series duncan also has a crush on violet so it’s kinda ??? for her to end up with quigley. like do you guys think when quigley and duncan reunited quigley told him about this really cool girl called violet he met and duncan was like “…”. anyways imagine getting cucked by your presumed dead twin brother could not be me
9. The Austere Academy
okay so i felt bad putting this lower because i know someone that really likes this part but i’m sorry it’s just kinda there. i mean it was super funny and the dead horse bit is literally everything but that’s pretty much it. idk maybe there’s a metaphor in there that i’m missing who knows
also olivia was introduced so bonus points for that i guess. she reminds me of miss honey from matilda <33
8. The Ersatz Elevator
honestly i feel bad that this is only 8th but there are so many good ones imsorry. anyways esme and jerome got introduced in this one which gives is a LOT of extra points. i love esme and i pity jerome which makes me also love him. also shoutout to günther for being the only count olaf disguise that could theoretically get it.
my only issue with it is that jerome disowning the baudelaires was kinda forced yk?? like i know it had to happen for the plot to carry on but i don’t think he had a good reason to do it. i guess points for doing something other than just killing them off again?
7. The End
OKAY so you might be thinking “oh, this part is exactly in the middle! surely that means you’re neuteral about it” LMAO I WISH i have extreme positive and negative opinions.
okay so first off it took me a couple of rewatches to get this one because when i first watched it i didn’t know about the quote that it was referencing (“religion is the opium of the people”) but MAN they mentioned that quote in class and i was catatonic for like 2 minutes because oh my god. not only did the incredibly deadly viper come back (yippieee) but they also implied that in the bible adam and eve were actually saved from something by eating the fruit?? the 4chan atheist that lives in my head really likes this one, is what i’m saying. also i know i say that about all of them because my sense of humour is basically based on this series rn but it was so funny. i live and breathe for olaf’s lil christopher columbus moment.
sadly it does have its downsides (olaf and kit) (i really hate olaf and kit) (i don’t think they’re good together). i mean SURELY kit has better taste than that. i mean don’t get me wrong they’re both my favourite characters but they have no common ground on literally anything. plus this is biased but i liked him better with georgina or esme because they remind me of several songs i really like. they literally just pulled the kit x olaf thing out of their ass so that olaf would have some semblance of a reason to die. oh yea i also think olaf didn’t need to die, i know Kit didn’t eat the antidote because it would have affected the baby but olaf could have totally eaten it!! he was offered it!! he wasn’t pregnant!!! it was so out of charcater for him not to eat it!!
6. The Hostile Hospital
Okay this one is SUPER biased because as y’all probably know i love the mad scientist trope it is my favourite trope ever AND i love count olaf so seeing them get put together was so cool. I know I keep bringing this up but i really do love the aesthetics they’re so cool. also also loved all the horror film references. most importantly (actually not that important) esmes outfit went so fucking hard literally i will never recover from the sheer power and moxie of Knife Heels. When I become actually talented at textiles i will recreate her outfit and probably ruin my carpet with those heels.
5. The Bad Beginning
a classic <33 the netflix version of this was literally one of the funniest eps of anything i ever watched i could feel my brain chemistry being rearranged as i watched it. also count olaf’s best era idc what he did he was literally just being sillay. also it has one of the best songs in the series honestly. OH ALSO justice strauss <33 and the troupe <333 literally all the beloveds are here there are no flaws
4. The Reptile Room
MONTY <333 HIIII MONTYYYY <33333333 literally my fav character he has never done anything wrong in his life ever. Also I love his fucking house it’s so cool if I had that much money I too would base my entire house on my special interest. also one of the only parts of the nickelodeon movie i didn’t hate so that’s fun.
3. The Miserable Mill
Lots of cool shit here!! First of all Shirley served astronomical amounts of cunt she had zero bad lines. Also I honestly think Georgina and Olaf were so underrated they remind me of several songs i like also they’re both fucked up and evil <333 she’s like esme but without the ulterior sugar bowl motives. also the fact that her name is GEORGINA ORWELL like ok. queen of subtlety. Like I get it if I was named that I would prolly start hypnotising people too. I also kinda love orwellian themes yk those are always fun.
AND OMG HOW COULD I FORGET CHARLESSS i feel so bad for him constantly he has never done anything wrong in his life and is also inexplicably british i love him sm
2. The Penultimate Peril
I love a good reunion episode tbh i love seeing all the characters together <33 also like this episode is so fun to dissect? (is that the right word?) i loved figuring out who JS was i loved finding differences between Frank and Ernest I loved figuring out what the fuck was going on it was so fun it’s like the best thing about this series.
of course that’s only partially true tpp would be nothing without those sexy sexy monologues

How to Edit Your Novel (Pt. 1)
If you haven't finished writing your first draft yet, feel free to save this for future use :) If you HAVE finished first drafting (BIG CONGRATS! That's a massive accomplishment, and I hope you're super proud of yourself ❤️ ), I really hope this helps you!
There's a lot to get into regarding editing, so this post will focus on more macro edits while part 2 will focus on micro edits.
Reread
In my opinion, one of the MOST IMPORTANT parts of editing is rereading your own book.
I highly recommend printing out your book into a physical copy. Generally, you can print out hundreds of pages at the copy or stationery shop (e.g. Staples), and then put them in a 3-ring binder.
For presets, I highly recommend at least 12 pt. font and DOUBLE-SPACED!!! This is so you can annotate easily DIRECTLY between lines on the paper while you're rereading. For me, I annotate with a red pen. The biggest things to focus on for a first reread are:
Plot + subplots! Example questions:
What things don't make sense?
What things don't you like?
(Spec fiction specific, mostly) Any worldbuilding issues, like no introduction to the cool fantasy gadgets, lore not matching up, or no logistical possibilities (e.g. how do gladiators in your book use modern flush toilets when the world is based on Ancient Rome?)?
Is anything too confusing?
Unnecessary scenes?
Issues with important plot beats (e.g. inciting incident too late, climax too early, etc. depending on how you want your story to flow)?
Characters! Example questions:
Is the development clear?
Are their personalities, motivations, and backstories fleshed out?
Do they have distinct voices that can be relatively easily distinguished in dialogue?
Are their names/appearances/personalities too similar, causing confusion?
Do you have too many or too few characters?
Are the character/group dynamics organic, significant to the plot, and enjoyable to read?
Other things to get picky with include:
tone, mood, voices, general atmosphere
prose issues like dialogue, description, etc.
plot discontinuities (e.g. John has blue eyes in Chapter 4, but in Chapter 6, he has green eyes)
grammar
Go in with your red pen and do whatever you want, as long as you can clearly read what you scribble. Let yourself go wild with *circle* "GRAMMAR ERROR!" or *underline* "STRANGE CHARACTER INTERACTION" or *large bracket spanning paragraph* "BAD SCENE!" Don't worry about making it look "aesthetic," just go for it in whichever way is most efficient for you.
However, for your first reread, or just an earlier one, focusing on the big picture things should be your first priority! Imagine tweaking the prose in one chapter for it to read like the love child of Victor Hugo and Charles Dickens, but then you realize the chapter doesn't serve the plot at all and needs to be cut...
Revision
After rereading, it's time to revise. Revision is the BIG PICTURE, GENERAL edit! Remember those issues that you found? Now, you're actively brainstorming how to fix them. This is not the REWRITING stage yet—that comes after!
Refer back to the list of questions above, and find solutions. I like to do this in a systematic method where I make a table (in this case, using Notion):
You can make this in any spreadsheet software, or even just create columns in a doc or on paper. I sort it by the ISSUE, SOLUTION IDEAS, TYPE OF ISSUE (e.g. character development, worldbuilding), and STATUS (done?).
Of course, doing this in a linear fashion is also fine, where you directly go down the chronological plot order. However, I would suggest separately brainstorming for each issue before you begin this step.
For example:
ISSUE: Heist is too easy and underwhelming
IDEAS:
Increased number of trained security personnel + improved tech (e.g. city hired guards who were former thieves themselves, security cameras, classic laser beams protruding from walls, a door with more locks and a very hard constitution)
In the thief group, more tension between each other -> harder for them to all cooperate and coordinate, leading to some things going wrong
Decreased competence of certain thieves, or just careless mistakes (e.g. tripping, coughing because of dust and attracting attention, not scaling a wall properly, etc.)
After you comb through all the issues like this (or however much effort each issue warrants), you'll find yourself at the REWRITING step! We'll cover that next time :)

I used to dread revising, especially after I'd finished the first draft of my first novel, but now, I quite like the process :) Yesterday, I just finished re-plotting an improved version of my story after LOTS of revising through 4 drafts! I can 100% say that no matter how difficult it is, a thorough revision is totally worth it!!!

I love that fact that Nika is a huge Talia simp xd, don't you?
Yeah! I love to imagine that Nika goes all starry eyes when Talia (and Ra's Al Ghul) brings the ninjas into the arena, watching her(and Ra's) effortlessly controlled the whole scene. Nika just wants to be a girlboss like her, and she DID take over Lord Death Man's empire later, she’s a Yakuza leader now.xD
The way she just looks at Talia once, instantly becomes a fan, then chooses to dress in the similar style of clothes, a leather-wearing, hooded cloak with a strip on the edge of the hem(Al Ghul's fashion?) in later issues… for me, Nika really is cute and childlike like a 15-year-old girl who looks up to the idol she admires, and felt connected with.

And I can't stop thinking about how confident and stylish Nika is. Like in the annual, she comes prepared in a skeleton attire(I'd like to think that she also had taken inspiration from her grandfather's cross-bone gloves), and requests to be Lord Death Men's apprentice. Now I feels like she is determined to impress Talia with her new clean fit too, to give a great impression to her ideas of mentors, match up their aesthetic(if she ever get a chance to show it).

To bad that Robin2021 comes to the end so soon(good ending actually), I'm not sure what things will the future writers pick up on Nika and continue her characterization, but I certainly hope that she could truly become Talia's ally, and it would be a little funny if she dating Damian but always takes Talia's side anytime.
Would love to see Nika bonding with other batfamily members too, especially the woman and girl members, cause Nika's own big sister is quite mean to her, and her mother looks really passive from the annual, it would be cool if she gets more great female roles to hang out and look up to.

Will Powder and Silco meet in the future?
What's Powder's fashion style in the fic? Do you have any visual description of an outfit she'd wear in the revolution verse, or an aesthetic pic with the right feel?
Speaking of visual aids, I'm sorry but can you help me out identifying the support cast and who is who from the show? It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize who Scar and Kai were from the show, and Eve I know is the pink haired Firelight Jinx shorts, but I'm a bit confused as for the others 😅

oh my gosh these are great lol and certainly provide a (more than welcome) challenge! I'll do my best!
the plan is that they get to meet at least once, not far from the end of the story. By then, things have gotten pretty crazy, and Powder has to appeal to Silco's dad mode
I feel like Powder would still be generally in the Jinx color palette, lots of pinks and purples and black, but also blue. Lots of tank tops and t-shirts, and she's pretty much always stomping around in combat boots. I imagine her wearing a good bit of denim. She has a favorite denim jacket, too, kinda bomber jacket style, totally swallows her up, that sort of vibe. High collars, chokers, etc would still be part of her look. I see her as certainly liking style but keeping it more practical these days to make things easy. Like an effortless look. She still paints her nails fun colors.
I figured I'd pull up some Mush pics to honor the originator of the reverse au design that started it all lol. These I think Powder would wear:

no problem! So as far as the supporting cast is concerned, Sky is Jayce and Viktor's lab assistant. Megan's an OC, but they'd look similar (I needed someone to work at the hospital for chapter 3 and then I liked her and just kept her around lol). Gianna is based on the Firelight who kicks Caitlyn in episode 6 lol and is working on the mural in episode 7, though we never see her face. Ajuna is part of Ekko's lore from League, a friend who dies and he's unable to save. He's connected to the predecessor to the Firelight mural from the show. i just kinda threw him in there for fun because "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" did the same. I think that's it for actual characters. The rest are OCs. I really ought to gather some visual references for them. Marnie is around Mel's skintone, for example...
UGH favorite scene this is so hard lol. I still really like all of chapter 2. I just can't help it. But since I've talked about liking it before, let me get out of my comfort zone. I think it's a little too hard to pick one, so I'll give a handful: the last section of chapter 3, all of chapter 7, really, the deal scene in chapter 10, the hospital in chapter 16, the balcony in chapter 18, the room key scene in chapter 19, and Caitlyn's conspiracy board in chapter 22 are all ones I'm pretty proud of or just enjoy reading because I think they're funny lol. I'm also proud of chapter 20 in general because plot twist!
I pre-write a lot of things, but as far as a scene I haven't written yet, I'm really excited to finish some stuff for Ekko's collection and there are some fun scenes of Powder really coming into her own. In particular, there's one that'll be quite a ways off where Powder sits down with Vi and they hash out a lot of the things between them, acknowledging the need to give each other space to live their lives as they've chosen to live them.
ahhhhhhh these idiots are gonna have so much fluff! What I will say is they should be dating within the next ten chapters (lest the story get away from me which is possible but I think by then they should be together lol). Before then, though, they're going to do some graffiti, fall into a fountain, and get all sappy in Ekko's car. And then after they get together they cuddle a lot and have a bunch of sex lmao. In a way, the physical relationship relates to the broader story in that Ekko helps Powder work on her confidence and articulating what she wants, which is similar to her journey of growing as a leader, a journey he also kicks off (though he kicked that one off by accident lol).
I think as the story keeps going it'll just get more taxing for me in general, if that makes sense. I'm always worried about coming off as preachy or heavy-handed. I'm probably overthinking things a lot. But I'd say that some of the setbacks the characters are going to face in pursuing their goals are going to be taxing in that emotional way. So far I think some of the stuff at the beginning was hard, and chapter 17 with Powder thinking about her hair was also hard, but it's kind of cathartic. The most I struggle with is how do I write a liberation story that works, because there's not a lot in the world for me to draw on in the way that I want due to international sabotage, etc. So I'm kinda taking these movements and trying to learn from their mistakes without feeling like I've got a perfect solution, because that's certainly not true, but I want to be hopeful. That balance of hope, a gesture at realism, tone and balance, trying to learn from the past, all of that can get a bit difficult for me.

2023 Year End List - #3
Desire, I Want to Turn Into You - Caroline Polachek
Main genres: Art Pop, Electronic
A decent sampling of: Downtempo, Alternative R&B, Dance Pop, UK Garage
Seizing the essence of life itself. The search for the meaning of everything. The sheer sense of adventure and danger that is going it alone for the first time.
Caroline Polachek has more artistic vision than just about any other pop artist out there right now. She takes a concept and runs marathons with it, working to achieve its platonic ideal.
This ethos is reflected in her intricate songs, laden with layers of meticulous, hyperreal production courtesy of her long-time co-producer Danny L. Harle, her commitment to weaving rich lyrical webs of different aesthetics, ideals, and mindsets that all fall into place like a great jigsaw puzzle, and her equally impressive, high-concept music videos that harkens back to the likes of other cinematically ambitious female artists such as Lady Gaga, Björk, and M.I.A.
Her voice has often been compared to the function of auto-tune itself, mostly thanks to how masterfully and seamlessly she modulates across complex melodies that jump notes seemingly almost at random, but actually follow an elaborated structure. Meanwhile, the timbral qualities of her voice are crystal clear and hyper-articulate, almost to the point of crossing the uncanny valley and into the supernatural.
So yeah, suffice to say, this was my #1 anticipated release of 2023. It certainly helped that she kept on teasing it, dropping the lead single all the way back in summer of 2021, and then another one in the first few weeks of 2022. It also obviously helped that her first album was simply one of the best art pop records in recent memory (eclipsed only in it's own release year by Twigs' Magdalene).
Polachek's solo pop debut Pang was a headfirst dive into painful love, and the act of relieving oneself from the shackles of self-doubt. The album played out like a series of short stories in a greater narrative storybook anthology, each song its own cerebral headspace, dissecting and sometimes psychoanalyzing the artist's own emotions. To put it concisely, my own interpretation was that of an album about learning to listen to what the self feels, needs, and wants.
This record then, broadly speaking, is about the restless pursuit of those wants.
Desire, I Want to Turn Into You is like the flickering light from the torch's flame that illuminates the ancient wall glyphs inside of an old cave of ruins. It is the feeling of catching your breath, and quenching yourself with that vital taste of water after you’ve just ran a marathon. It’s a thrilling and euphoric experience from start to finish. Art pop with adrenaline and passion.
The prominent Alternative R&B elements that made her previous record more rhythmically complex and sonically contemplative take a bit of a step back on this project, peeking through every now and then on tracks like "Billions" and "Pretty In Possible".
But by and large, Polachek leans more towards sugary pop and dance-oriented songs with high art ambitions, with many tracks influenced by the hop-and-skip beats of the UK Garage EDM scene. There's also a fair bit of more atmospheric downtempo moments in similar fashion to tracks like "Go As A Dream" on Pang, but even they have a little more pulse on this record. A more extroverted sound altogether this time around.
There are also frequent references to Greek mythology, as well as a myriad of melodic motifs that are revisited and re-imagined between different tracks, like the opening melody of "Crude Drawing of An Angel" appearing in the second verse of "Butterfly Net", or the chorus of "Fly To You" being interpreted by a bag pipe solo in "Blood and Butter". Never underestimate Caroline Polachek's ability to tie an album's concepts together into a beautifully interwoven and interconnected symbiosis.
The album takes off with its central thesis, "Welcome To My Island", a declaration to defy all expectations and become desire itself. It opens with a single rapturous siren cry, soaring into the stratosphere and heralding the beginning of a new era. Suddenly, the song's aircraft comes to meet its landing strip. Bright, beady, bubbly little synths make pops and flares over the verses, before the unleashing of a total power chorus that showcases the very best of Polachek's ability to carry zephyrous long notes, meanwhile with her irresistibly cute and sassy "hey, hey ,hey, HEY!" chants forming the backing vocals. Every last ounce of her unapologetically bold artistic personality is lavishly painted over this ridiculously catchy and charming pop song.
"Sunset" pays homage to Spanish flamenco and appears to be taking some cheeky inspiration from the Gerudo Valley theme in Zelda: Ocarina of Time according to a TikTok that Polachek herself posted. This song tastes of the juiciest citrus fruits and the richest olive oil, pouring out of a marble chalice like a waterfall. An excellent demonstration of her artistic versatility.
"I Believe" immediately gets my heart racing with its crisp piano stabs and exhilarating 2-step shuffle. Makes me feel like some kind of JRPG mage, hopping through the air by casting levitation spells and gazing upon the cloudswept Earth below. Totally dreamy and life-affirming.
I find myself deeply immersed in the humid forests of "Blood and Butter". This downtempo track incorporates some very SNES era sound fonts, hand drums, kalimba, and acoustic guitars into a euphoric and ritualistic performance, with the atmosphere of swirling magic mists and even a left-field instrumental bridge featuring some very festive bagpipes. Simply impeccable sound design; listening to this one with headphones is like discovering a sixth sense I didn't know I had.
"Butterfly Net" is the sublime sunrise that turns the entire sky a goldenrod yellow. It's an auditory gateway to beautiful plains of crested wheatgrass, with psychedelic folk undertones and echoing vocals and digital landscapes that stretch off into the horizon for dozens of miles. One of her greatest songs yet, and one I couldn't get enough of for basically all of spring last year.
"Billions" would be my song of the year, had it not already been released in 2022. I cannot overstate, nor begin to describe with all due credit it deserves, just how fucking brilliant the production on this track is. If "Blood and Butter" was the sixth sense, then this is the seventh. Tantalizing, mystifying, erotic, bountiful, reaching towards enlightenment. Everything that must be and will be, maybe truth itself is contained somewhere hidden under the plentiful layers of beats and microbeats in this stunning art pop pedestal. Musically, it sounds ancient, medieval, renaissance, modern, and post-modern all at once. Also - maybe the best incorporation of a children's choir in all of music history? What a bold move to put this as the album closer. If this is the page she chooses to close this chapter on, I can only imagine what magnificence is to come next.
I thought for sure this was going to be my AOTY when it was announced. The fact it didn't end up being so and landed at number 3 instead is just a testimony to how brutally stacked this year's competition was.
I could still nit-pick this quite a bit if I really wanted to. "Hopedrunk Everlasting" and "Bunny Is A Rider" are not only both easily weaker than any of the other material here, but both of them seem to disrupt the respective flow of their placements on this record. But barring that, this is damn close to a masterpiece.
Naturally, this has landed on loads of other 2023 year end lists besides my own, and its definitely not hard to see why. Caroline Polachek is a staunch perfectionist and over-achiever, and shows no signs of stopping any time soon, and Desire, I Want to Turn Into You is an uplifting work of creative genius that only she could have made.

Basically, every kindergarten teachers handwriting ever.
3. What architectural or design aesthetic would best suit them?
Cottage Garden | Lots of flowers, growing your own fruits and veggies...all in a idyllic little cottage.
4. If your OC likes art, talk about which piece they would love best.
Alfred Augustus Glendening Jr | A London painter, Glendening usually painted various scenes of the English countryside. lots of flowers, light spring colours and beautiful Victorian women surrounded by flowers. Her favourite is The First Days of Spring.
5. What character from myth or fairytale best represents them?
Snow White | Although not similar in terms of looks, both her and Elodie are kind and gentle, with a love for animals and nature. She is loved by most that meet her, as she has a generous heart and a tendency to make those who surround her feel loved. Although she isn't as perfect as the princess, both have a collection of traits very similar.
9. If your OC were to imagine their idyllic life (realistically or otherwise) what would it be like?
A small cottage in a small village, surrounded by forests and flowers. Days spent picnics, going for long walks through meadows, failing to bake pies and other goodies with nights spent looking up at the stars with Eli with their doggy Lily curled up next to them

Elodie has a slight French accent with some words (especially when angry) as a result of living most of her childhood on a farm in Champs Le Sims. Eli loves teasing her for it, and says it makes her sound cute.

Often people believe, usually because she has such a kind demeaner, that she is fragile and needs to be looked after. Elodie is stronger than she looks, maybe not on the outside, but on this inside she is very brave and always willing to fight for what is right, no matter what it might cost her. Although being looked after is not necessarily a bad thing, if it is ever constElodie finds this is usually quite difficult in relationships, as it is usually quite suffocating.
16. What trait do they find most attractive/appealing about others?
Gentleness | People who choose to be more careful, calm, and peaceful. A person who walks through the world with kindness and softness to them.
17. What sort of role do they take on in relationships, either familial, romantic or platonic. i.e. are they a defender, protector, nurturer, etc.
Dee was always the nurturer of the family or friendship group. She would always look after her mum more than she would herself, and is often the parent of a friend group. Although often she finds this a burden (that being, always having other peoples worries and fears on her mind), she has always loved to take care of others and make them feel safe and comforted, even if that meant sacrificing her own needs.
21. What was it about their significant other that made them fall in love with them? Was it a single eye-opening experience or many gestures over time?
slight spoilers for the story that may or may not come so honestly you may as well just read this because it might be the closest we're gonna get. Elodie is very stubborn, often unwilling to accept her emotions, especially when it comes to love. Eli made it very difficult for her, she tried to ignore him, tried to push down her feelings but Eli is one of the most lovable people she has ever met. Truth be told, Elodie fell in love (although not in a romantic way) the first time they met when they were kids. When they met again at university, her anger at him leaving her was fuelled by her unwillingness to be hurt by him again. However, he is one of the most happy and loving person she has ever met, and she realised once and for all she loved him when he was the first person there when [REDACTED] got sick and spent the whole night with her in the hospital bringing her tea and snacks and holding her when she felt like her world was falling apart. She truly loved him then, more than ever, because she knew that he would drop everything to be with her, sacrifice his time just to sit with her and listen.
22. What is some advice or guidance they received that had a big impact on their lives or outlook? Was it a positive or negative impact?
Her mother always told her to be the good in someone's life. To be what makes them smile when they're down, be the shoulder to cry on, hand to hold and a smile when they need one. She has tried to live up to that everyday. Although sometimes she finds it taxing, often listening to peoples problems and issues often more than her own, the reward of making someone feel better or just being there for someone always makes it worth it.
