Obsessed with the characters who stay light hearted and joyous but who have stolen it from the darkness. There is blood under their fingernails — there is pain under their eyes — there is hurt in their timeline and they have felt every blow. But they have refused to let it take their joy, their sun, their kindness, their heart. This. This is mine. This is the thing no one gets to touch. The people who are unbeatable simply because they will always look up from the ground with blood on their lip and a light in their eyes. And nothing can ever cut out the light in their chest. Nothing can touch their rebellious, boundless belief that the universe has a sense of humor. I stay silly, I stay open, I stay alive and alive and I lived when the whole world said otherwise. the dandelion in the pavement. The vine on the wall. I lived and I loved the inherent brokenness of a once whole thing and it was me, I was the thing that is whole no longer. I gave flowers to the darkness. I gave my soul to the light.

eddie loves the public library, once he moved in with wayne he would regularly bring home a stack of books and devour them. wayne had barely gotten his head around the last lot eddie regaled him with, before eddie was onto talking about the next.

eddie using the school library sometimes, though it had nothing on the public one. would watch as steve harrington slumped in during lunchtimes, face bruised, just looking for somewhere quiet.

eddie in the library, secretly spying on steve harrington on saturday. there with a brown curly haired kid. eddie uses dustin speaking a little too loudly about dnd as an excuse to go talk to them. show them where the best dragon books were kept. heart clenching over secretly catching steves warm smile as dustin gets exited.

the librarians of hawkins being some of his few supporters during that terrible week. having the same learned faith in him as wayne - that hurting someone just wasn't in eddies nature.

librarian eddie - crushing on but always being too embarrassed to talk to the guy who comes in for the audio books.

So Gaz and Bookworm!Reader having been meeting up for weeks now and he's a really great guy. You really like him and you want to start dating him before he goes away on deployment for months. You're so nervous, worried how he'd react. Worried he might not like you romantically. But then you get the courage to ask him out while you're both reading in the library.

And he's so confused. He thought you two were dating already, that your little meet-ups at cafés and restaurants were dates! Poor Gaz, he's like "I've even told the squad about you". The 141 knows all about you, been teasing him to get you to meet up with them so they can finally see the person Gaz has been gushing about. Oh the guys would get a kick out of teasing Gaz about assuming he was already in a relationship with you.

But don't worry, if you don't think those little meet-ups were dates, then he's taking you out on an official date! He doesn't care to be embarrassed about misinterpreting the past few weeks, he just wants to make it up to you. So he'll scrounge up whatever money he has and will take you to the fanciest restaurant he can afford, treating you like royalty the entire time.

i saw this post a while ago about how it’s common for former avid book readers to have burnt out and now solely read fanfiction because the characters and dynamics aren’t a new thing to assimilate, which i definitely relate to, but i also think there’s another component to it, which is divided in three parts: 1- there is no word limit for fanfiction; 2- the authors don’t have to worry about selling a good enough base story before getting to the details; 3- since we already know the general stuff about the characters, there’s more space to explore their psyche and thought processes in depth. this makes fanfiction an extremely rich method of storytelling – it’s not just about cause-consequence relations and sharing of information that is crucial to a story. it’s character analyses that stem from years-long observation; it’s different points of view on the essence of characters and nature of their interactions. it’s a raw portrayal that enables us to connect to the story and feel the relationships that make it in a way that is simply not possible when reading a material whose source is relatively finite. and idk i just think sometimes reading or writing fanfiction is seen as something fun but sorta immature. like we’re not ready for the real stories, when actually, the stories we have access to are often richer than anything you could get from a 250-page book.

#don’t get me wrong i LOVE books #been a bookworm since i was like 5 #but i also know that when the book is done and the story has ended #i look to fanfiction to explore more sides of the characters which just weren’t viable to show because the story was finite
