This is a mixture of shower thoughts fic and lying in bed after taking a sleep aid fic, so is it good? who knows. but apparently ao3 is down so enjoy! lol
Warning: not proofread at all.
the band has been working diligently to make a name for themselves and while they have a decent following, they’ve all had to take day jobs
on one of the days they are all working, julie almost misses a call form a record label that recently saw them perform and would like to sign them on
she says she is excited by their offer but would need to speak to the rest of the band first, to which they are understanding and even offer to email a pdf of the first draft of the contract to them to review and they can set up a time to meet if things look satisfactory
she rattles off the band email before ending the call and texts the band group chat before heading back to work after her break
“a label wants to sign us! contract in band email. can’t wait to go over it with you guys! <3 <3″
she feels her phone buzz with an incoming response as she’s walking back to the front of the store she works at and quickly checks it.
L- yes! rock n roll hall of fame, here we come!
as she is reading that, another texts arrives and she laughs at Luke’s impatience
L- emails not there yet :(
back at the front, the afternoon rush hits and julie doesn’t have time to check her phone, but she’s felt it go off several times in her work apron and, while she’s never hated the customer service industry, she absolutely cannot keep a giant smile off her face the whole rest of her shift
so she’s a bit blindsided when she finally gets to check her phone again as she grabs her things from her work locker and the first message she sees is
L- I’m not signing this.
it must be a real bad deal then. her heart sinks as she continues reading
A- ?
R- oooo bad money deal?
L- money is fine.
L- not a good fit for the band
A- how do you mean?
luke didn’t respond and the next message comes 20 minutes later
A- F that. i’m not signing either
R- guys. what is going on?
R- oh
R- okay, yeah no
by now Julie’s anxiety is starting to climb because how could it not be a good fit? this label is known for signing bands in the pop-punk genre. What on earth would make the guys turn this opportunity down? an opportunity they have worked blood, sweat, tears and years to get. How could they dismiss it so easily?
she needs some time to think (but does she really? it’s the anxiety talking) so instead of responding, she pulls her bag strap over her shoulder and begins walking towards the exit, tying her hair up in a real messy bun to keep herself from picking at her fingernails
The clouds in the sky are pinkish purple against the darkening sky as the sun is low enough to be blocked by the surrounding buildings. heat still emits off the parking lot pavement, alluding to the Hot summer days thar have fallen upon the city.
Julie takes a deep breath before heading to the employee parking
Luke is leaning against the back of her car
"Luke? What are you doing here? Is everyone okay?!"
"Yea, Boss. Everyone's fine," he reassures her before pulling her into a hug. "I just wanted to see that million dollar smile."
Julie can't help but smile
She holds him tighter as her thoughts quickly jump back to the contract. She questions him about the group chat. How could they possibly all be saying no?
His arms tense around her, before letting her pull back to look at his face. He reveals that the contract actually starts off pretty decent. The label just had one stipulation that was a deal-breaker.
What? What could possibly be a deal-breaker when the rest is that good?
"If we sign it, they'd be able to force the band to undergo cosmetic dentistry."
"Oh." Her stomach drops. She wants to look away from the boy she's described as having the perfect smile. Alex and Reggie are basically right there with him. She forces her hands to stay put, but they scream to cover her mouth, her face. Her eyes drift down and stop on his Adam's apple. This is about her.
One of his hands gently cups the side of her face, tilting it so she is looking up at him again. His eyes are sad.
She can't stand it. She can feel tears welling in her eyes "I- I could do it."
He's shaking his head vehemently before she can finish. "No, Jules! You are perfect and beautiful just as you are. If they can't see it, then they aren't the label for us."
"But-"
His other hand moves up to cup her face in his hands.
"Be who you are, don't compromise, julie. Fuck them."
Julie is overwhelmed in that moment. Tears break free of her lashes, but a laugh rings out as she pulls his face to hers.
His lips ground her and she cant believe how lucky she is to have such a supportive boyfriend. She pulls back and remembers the others immediate refusal to sign as well. She couldn't ask for a better band and family. She thanks her mom for the millionth time for bring them to her.
She sniffles from the tears but a smile is back on her face as she teases him. "Did you quote our own song at me just now? What a dork."
He's grinning back. "Well, the gal who wrote that line is pretty smart."
He pulls her to the passenger door "let's go home"

For the December prompts staying in bed, sick + Julie and her ghosts?
Oh god. How the winter sun manages to slash through the curtains so brightly, she’ll never know. It should be a crime to be woken up this early when you’re sick. Even by the loving call of nature. Although she doesn’t feel any of the love right now, not when it’s freezing cold and the sun is offering eye strain in place of warmth.
Julie groans, pulling the covers over her head as she rolls over to turn away from the window. Her mouth is dry from keeping it open all night just so she could breathe. She sniffs now, just to see if she can get more than nothing this time, and is met with zero air flow. She heaves a sigh. Yep. Still sick.
She doesn’t know what time it is, and she couldn’t care less. Being sick is for waking up in the afternoon and staying in bed forever. Under the cosy warm darkness, Julie wills herself to go back to sleep.
Her eyes open on their own accord when faint voices sift through, muffled by the soft cushy barrier of her blankets. It’s probably Dad and Tia Victoria coming in to check on her. She sighs again. She loves them both and she’s grateful for their help. But sometimes they just need to know when to leave a girl alone.
Like right now. When it’s who-knows o’clock, and the sun has a personal vendetta against sick people called Julie Molina.
She can’t make out what they’re saying. They’re speaking softly, and it doesn’t help that her ears have been blocked for the past two days. Having her head under the covers probably doesn’t help either.
Julie shuts her eyes again. Usually, she can tolerate being talked about behind her back, but she’s sick, for God’s sake. She knows Dad and Tia are just looking out for her, but really? In her room? At her bed? That she’s currently in?
Julie huffs in frustration and whips the covers off her face.
“Okay, I love you guys but please give me like, five more minutes.”
“Oh!” exclaims a soft voice that sounds suspiciously like Reggie. “You love us?”
“Reg…” she hears Alex groan. Julie’s eyes snap open.
“Okay, you heard the lady,” says Luke’s voice. “Five more minutes.”
Julie bolts upright and grunts softly when stars fill her eyes. She squints in the direction of the voices, blinking the stars away, and sure enough—Reggie, Alex and Luke are all standing at the foot of her bed, staring at her like deer in headlights.
“What-?” she starts, before shielding her eyes from the sunlight and groaning. “What are you guys doing here?”
Julie can practically hear the few high-pitched “um”s and “uh”s hitting the ceiling. They better not have been watching her sleep, like some creepy… whatever. Her brain doesn’t work enough right now to come up with anything. But what she does know is that she does not appreciate being gawked at like a zoo animal.
“We wanted to run something by you?” Luke blurts out.
Julie drops her hand and deadpans. They haven’t been able to do any music or songwriting since Julie was deemed diseased by Carlos a few days ago when he’d heard her sniffle. Luke was disappointed when Julie called off any music work until she got better, but he knew it was for the best. He’s not nearly enough of an idiot to keep pushing.
“We, uh,” Alex cuts in, “we just wanted to check on you. We knew you weren’t feeling well, so…”
“Yeah!” Reggie smiles. “We didn’t want you to be lonely, so we came over to keep you company.”
Julie sighs shortly. She’s sick and she’s annoyed and she wants to stay mad. But as she rolls her eyes, Julie can’t help the way her lips curl up into a fond smile.
“Thanks, guys,” she says. “I appreciate that.”
They smile at her, and the room brightens. The morning chill strikes her back and she shivers.
“Right,” she chuckles nervously, settling back down in her bed. “Gotta stay warm if I wanna beat this cold!”
“Oh, yep,” Reggie says, pointing at her as she pulls the covers back up over her shoulders. “You do that.”
Julie laughs softly and closes her eyes as she is embraced by the heavenly warmth of her bed. Finally, she thinks. No sick person should ever have to wake up during the morning.
Julie’s eyes open at the sound of someone clearing their throat. She looks up. “Are you still here?”
The boys splutter unintelligibly. Julie raises her eyebrows and purses her lips. “You can go now…”
“Mm-hm.” Alex nods, turning towards the door. “Let’s go.”
“We’re leaving,” Luke announces as they make their way out.
“Yes, ma’am! We are out of here.”
Reggie, Julie thinks, shaking her head fondly. Alone again, she closes her eyes once more and sighs into the comforting warmth. And honestly? The sunlight isn’t too bad right now.

Hey there!! Thanks for the ask!! ^_^
Since a fic wasn't specified I am gonna go nostalgic and talk about Slices of Summer
Gives me a chance to reread this early bit of writing I did.
So to start with, as I just said this was one of the earliest bits of writing I did. I didn’t have an AO3 account. I was still partially in denial about how much fanfiction writing I was going to do. Which quickly changed as I wrote 17 parts of this, quickly surpassing the record of the most I had written for any project ever up until that point. (the previous record was something like 14,000(guesstimate and probably overestimating) for an original piece of fiction I doubt I will ever finish).
What had happened was I found a summer prompt list with like 20 prompts for summer, and I decided as like a personal treat/challenge during some time off work I would see how many of them I could get through. I went in with very little plan, and no idea how connected I’d make each prompt.
When I say little plan I mean, I skimmed the list saw sunburn, and was like well, that’ gotta be Reggie. But how does Reggie get sunburned?? Because I still wanted to include Julie. . .so I went and found a few that made sense as sort of precursors, and Just started writing.
I knew I wanted sunburn to be Reggie’s POV, and I was at the time fairly comfortable writing Alex POV. Then my brain got weird and was like well we gotta include Julie and Luke POV’s as well even though I feel I am weakest with those. Especially Luke POV’s.
Which is part of why Luke ended up with the only “unprompted” portions of the series. Because they were bits of story and conversation I felt needed to happen but didn’t really fit well with any of the provided prompts and well, in the line up and divvying things up it worked out that in my attempt to keep the POV’s relatively even Luke ended up with those.
I do provide a lot of additional commentary in the author’s notes on AO3 if I remember correctly.
I did say in one of them that I had never written a kiss before, which upon rereading some older older stuff I’d written is not entirely true. I have written at least one kiss before but it literally amounted to: “and he kissed her”
Now here’s where things are gonna get really lengthy. Because I am like 90% sure I am never going to return to finish this fic. So here is a list of the remaining prompts, and wha(if anything) I had planned.
17- Stargazing-Reggie POV: The guys can’t immediately find Luke after Carrie’s visit. Eventually when they do find him, turns out he went to Trevor’s and was extremely close to confronting him but opted not to.
18- House Party - ?? POV: The Wilson House Party. Awkward as hell, the girl’s try to give Carrie a chance, Carrie has no idea how to act, Trevor is acting extremely weird. The boys are worse than Carrie in the “how do we act normal” department. Other guests gossip.
??) Vacation/Trip - No Plan
??) Beach Umbrella - No Plan
??) Beach Towel - No Plan
??) At a public pool - No Plan
FInale - Barbecue - The Molina family have a barbecue, this is either where the guy’s meet Ray and Victoria or where Ray and Victoria learn they are ghosts.

Hiiiii! Victoria, peony, homophobia please!
Two prompts to go my friends! (Sorry they've been so off schedule lol, I'm hoping to have the last one up tonight as well). Since my brain needed an even number and I've now posted 7 Julie POV fics, 7 Rose POV fics, 7 Flynn POV fics, and 7 Carrie POV fics, I decided to round off the last two with some special guests. Thanks to @a-tomb-with-a-view and @joyandthephantoms for rigging my inbox <3
This prompt takes place in a new au @joyandthephantoms and I have affectionately dubbed "homophobia." WARNING: HOMOPHOBIA. The gist is-- Ray Molina deserves to be an imperfect parent Sometimes and that means he needs to make mistakes and unlearn some things after he's hurt his children with them. Don't worry, he'll get there. Enjoy!
When Victoria gets home from a long day at the office, her niece is crying on the front porch.
“Ay, querida!” Victoria cries, getting out of the car immediately to rush over to her. “Julie, what’s wrong? What are you doing here?”
A quick once-over does nothing to clear up the situation. Julie doesn’t appear to be hurt— she’s wearing shorts and a t-shirt with a butterfly on it, and there’s no sign of blood on any of her exposed skin, no scraped knees or obviously broken bones. Just tears streaming down her face as she sits between the two patches of Victoria’s peony garden and a slight tremor to her hands as she tries to swipe them away.
“Julie, nena,” Victoria pleads, sitting down on the porch next to her so she can pull her niece into a hug. “Dime qué te pasa. Should I call your papi?”
“No,” Julie hiccups, shaking her head. “No, please, don’t— I told him I was going to the library to study, I— I don’t want him to know I’m here.”
Something sour burns in Victoria’s chest. She holds Julie tighter, even as her tone turns serious. “Julie, if you expect me to lie to your father, you better have a good reason.”
Julie sobs, clutching tightly to Victoria’s blouse, and then she says, “I told him I’m gay, Tía.”
Victoria goes very still. Her mind races with things to say— trying desperately to think of the right thing to say— because clearly however Ray reacted wasn’t what Julie needed to hear. “Okay,” she says finally. “That’s news, ¿sí?”
Julie sniffles, tense in Victoria’s embrace. “There’s this girl in my class… Dad kept asking me if there was a boy I wanted to take to the Freshman Social, but there isn’t a boy, and I— I know that’s not really something we’d ever talked about as an option for me, but I didn’t think he’d—”
She cuts herself off with a fresh round of tears, and Victoria doesn’t know what to do, so she just keeps holding her, shushing her gently, praying to God and Rose for patience and strength.
She tries not to hold any anger for Ray in her heart, not until she knows the whole story, anyway. He’s a good man and a good father. He’s also Catholic, from a smaller town and with older parents than Victoria and Rose’s. He’s not perfect. She can’t expect him to be.
“What did he say, mija?” she whispers, pressing her lips into Julie’s curls.
Julie takes a shaky breath. “He said what I was feeling was unnatural. Th-That I needed to stop thinking that way, that I shouldn’t tell anybody, that as soon as a nice boy came into my life, I’d change my mind. He said… He said Mami always wanted me to be safe and happy and I couldn’t be either if I chose that lifestyle.”
“Ay, Dios mío,” Victoria breathes, and gives up on patience. She and Ray Molina are going to have words.
“Tía,” Julie says, sniffling. “Would Mom be upset if she were still alive?”
“No,” Victoria promises. “No, nena, she’d be so proud of you. I’m certain of that. I’m so proud of you. You didn’t do anything wrong. And your papi will come around, too, okay? I’ll make sure of it.”

from the fic writer asks: 12, 17, 31, 37, and 38!
12: Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
I've only binged Julie and the Phantom in like, large chunks so I honestly could not tell you where one episode starts and one begins. That being said that scene where Reggie is hanging out with Ray in the kitchen has gotten A LOT OF TRACTION.
(Same honestly with Leverage, I have no idea what scenes belong to what episodes or what the episode titles are.)
17: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
I try to stay vaguely start to finish, because else I'll write like three chapters and still not be able to post because I didn't finish the chapter before (Looking at you, Let's Go Steal A Protégé). The document is usually littered with little scenes/outlines/dialogue bits and very funny or poignant sentences for future scenes in pretty much the right order, though.
And sometimes when I'm having a bad day I will let myself write something out of order as a treat, aka the 'Bobby got a concussion because you threw a condom full of jello at him' scene in the Foster Care AU, even though it's 2 chapters out from where I am.
31: Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
Lol what is canon compliant don't know her.
Canon is only the bits I like. Or, if it's very bad, Canon is a Very Expensive AU the creators made.
37: Talk about your current wips.
Okay, so there's Let's Go Steal A Protégé, which I neeeed to finish but is hard because my brain is fixating on another fandom at the moment.
There's the Darkest Timeline BDSM AU sequel to Envelope Day, which is currently 82 k long and will probably be around 375k if I ever finish, based on the current chapter lengths. It's very dark in subject manner but pretty wholesome in actual scenes, most of the time.
And then there's the Foster Care AU, which is 'The Molinas foster Reggie and later Willie' and it's very good and very wholesome and I just finished chapter 10 (of maybe kind of 21 probably). It's written in different povs per chapter, which was a fun challenge. Especially because sometimes there's overlap so you see a scene from two different perspectives. Also I'm screaming because REGGIE JUST CALLED RAY DAD without realising it and the next chapter is going to start with Ray reacting to that aaaaa.
There's also the little AU universes I sometimes write drabbles in but I don't think they count because I'm never going to make it an actual fic.
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
Fun fact, I often add screenshots of reviews and tags in my scrapbook so just know if you ever sent a lot review there's a good chance you will be in my scrapbook.
There's a review for Let's Go Steal A Protégé that always pops into my brain when I get this question. LGSAP has a non-binary main character who gets kidnap-dopted by the basically-canon OT3 into their little crime family. I was worried nobody would like what is basically a 2020 take on a mary sue plot (getting around it by calling it an outsider pov lol). But people really like Jamie and the best review I ever got was one that said that Jamie helped them because their kid just came out as non-binary.

Writer ask meme! N U Z
N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?
Ahhhhh thank you for asking, there are SO MANY (and I know you already know about these so thank you for giving me the chance to share them! <3) I limited myself to two:
I'm currently obsessed with this Luke/Bobby/Reggie/Julie fic where Luke and Bobby are in a physical relationship, but Bobby wants more and Luke thinks they're already together. They live with Reggie, who just got a girlfriend, and she's impossible to dislike, even if she steals a lot of his attention at first. It's going to snowball into a lot of yearning and a bit of miscommunication from every corner. There's way more but it's still a bit incoherent and I could ramble about it forever (but if anyone wants to know more they're welcome to ask!)
Also I have a story in my head that starts with Rose teaching little Reggie piano. He and his mother attend the same church as the Molinas, and she can't help but notice his fascination, so she offers to teach him (and she's already teaching Julie, who could use a friend). Reggie's mom hears him playing, and he's Really Good, and it stops her short, because she almost said no! She nearly denied him this! The fic would probably alternate between Rose and Reggie's mom's POV (and Julie and Reggie would be the cutest kids the whole time and I have this whole scene in my head where they play house).
U: Is there a pairing you would like to write, but haven’t tried yet?
I haven't written a lot of Luke/Bobby yet. I love their dynamic, though! Bobby's POV still intimidates me a little (but I'm starting to get over that and I actually really like writing it). I'd also like to try writing for Julie/Luke on their own, but I'm happy here in my little niche, so I just haven't (although I have tried to give them more moments in my more recent Julie/Luke/Reggie fics).
Z: Is there a story you’ve written that doesn’t seem to get much love?
I know it's just because the fandom is way less active (which sucks because my writing has gotten so much better since I started and all of the engagement on my stuff feels backwards), but Third Time's A Charm hasn't garnered much of a response (although it could also be the premise).

I was tagged by @welcometololaland and will participate even though this is about to be all over the place
For Julie and the Phantoms, which I haven't written for in ages:
A series of one shots based on the lyrics from evermore by Taylor Swift involving a bunch of different characters. I was most excited about ivy from Nick's POV, evermore for Ray, and it's time to go for Bobby.
Julie Molina, Clothing Thief Extraordinaire, possibly 5+1
The boys find their graves, extreme angst
For RWRB:
Milestones in Henry and Alex's relationship told through social media announcements using Taylor Swift lyrics
Alex calls the Pope out for being shitty about queer folks on Twitter
The Super Six and how they feel about The Mountain Goats
Interviewer is shitty to Alex and Henry after they get married
Henry and Alex trying to plan their family
Small moments between Henry and Alex set to the lyrics of You Are In Love

@claire8216 requested 82! This prompt had a small existential crisis from me that really doesn’t matter but you know! What’s life without a little crisis here and there? 😅 Unedited to keep it real (flashes fake gang signs to look cool)
Pick a number between 1-102 (7, 13, 17, 23, 31, 45, 82, 97) I am working on them slowly so please be patient!
---------------
Luke blinks slowly at the page, his grip on the pen loosening. God, what time is it? Maybe they should call it quits for the night. He looks around but they haven't had a chance to get a clock yet. Tapping his phone screen, nothing happens. Dead. Sighing, he recalls he hadn't charged it last night because the charger was at the bottom of one of his moving boxes.  Thankfully he'd spent the afternoon unpacking after he'd gotten off shift at the diner.
He gets up to plug the phone in and Julie only gives a tilt of her chin in acknowledgement that he's moved away, her pen still flying across the page.  Smiling, he leans against the wall to wait for the devise to power back on, taking in this gorgeous scene.
Last night the room had felt weird. The walls laid bare, boxes shoved into a precarious tower in the corner, the mattress directly on the floor. His mom wouldn't let him take the bed frame. Something about it once belonging to his great uncle. It was a lot of change and while he's definitely better about it than Alex, he wouldn't lie and say it was the best sleep of his life, finally out of his stifling childhood home. Even if the room still didn't feel like him yet, having gone through the majority of his boxes helped to at least breathe easier. But now, seeing Julie lying on his bed, lost in the words of a song he's sure will win them awards, he realizes how much she's becoming home to him. No matter where he finds himself, he will always be alright if she is right there with him. His eyes drift closed.
The tinny startup sound alerts him that his phone is turning on, the battery finally charged enough. Dragging his eyes open, he checks the time.
Shit! Fuck!
"Shit, Jules, we have to go!"
All tiredness leaves his body as he searches around for his car keys. He'd put them in his pocket yesterday when he gotten in from the last trip of bring things in. Yesterday's pants. Shit, shit how does he already have so many clothes piled on the floor? He scatters clothing around him in a flurry. Not finding them, he looks around trying to figure out where they might have gone. His eyes cross over Julie who hasn't moved, only paused her pen to look at him.
"Don't just sit there, it's after 3! Your dad is going to kill me!"
Ray is a very lenient man but even he has his limits. Luke is frantic as he starts rummaging through the open boxes.
"Luke."
"Where the fuck are my keys?!"
"Luke!"
Her soft hand slides up his cheek and pulls his face to look over at her. She's no longer on the bed, but she's also not rushing to gather her things so he can take her home. Why isn't she rushing?
Laughter dances in her eyes as she calmly says, "We don't have to leave. Did you forget I moved into the dorms last week?"
He blinks at her, still feeling in crisis mode as his brain slowly supplies him with the memories.
"Also, he would've killed me. I take responsibility for myself, thank you very much."
He snorts at that. She does take responsibility for herself. And Ray is notoriously bad at staying mad at her long enough to enforce a punishment.
His arms wind around her waist and pull her to his chest. She's still looking up at him with a soft smile, and he could drown in her eyes. He rests his forehead on top of hers and takes a deep breath, releasing it with a slow "fuuuuuuuuuuck", trying to slow his heartrate down. Her hands slide up his back before slipping into the ripped armholes of his shirt, pressing cold fingers against the skin of the small of his back.
Suddenly, he's aware of the fact that they are alone at his apartment. A fact that he'd been very aware of when he first opened the door to let her in earlier. He'd stared down at her with a goofy grin that she had reciprocated. No parents, no Aunts, no little brothers to interrupt them. No curfew. That's when Reggie's elbow had dug into his pec as he pushed Luke out of the way (read: into a wall) to hug Julie. There were, after all, still bandmates.
But no bandmates right now. And no place they need to be. His nose drifts down her temple as his hand drifts up to the nape of her neck, pulling her into a kiss.  Warmth spreads throughout his entire body, set aflame everywhere they touch. The kiss intensifies as she presses closer and his hands begin to wander.
She pulls away all too soon, her hand pushing lightly against his chest as he tries to follow. Breathing hard, he looks down into her eyes which are darker than they were before.
"I have class at 9am. We should probably go to sleep."
A groan leaves his body at the idea of stopping, but he knows school is important to Julie and it's her first week of classes.
"Okay, yeah. Let's go to bed."
A different type of thrill thrums through him. For the first time, Julie is going to sleep in his bed. She will be the first thing he sees in the morning when he opens his eyes. That's something he could get used to. He'd take Julie anyway he can. Tangling their fingers together he drags them back over to the bed. He goes to empty his pockets and he pulls out a car key.
"They were in today's pants??"
Julie snorts from where she is putting on a pair of his basketball shorts. "Did you forget you went to work today, too?" She shakes her head in amusement. Apparently he is more tired than he'd thought.
He lets out a small laugh as he shucks his pants and pulls his shirt over his head before climbing into the bed. (climbing down? it's so close to the floor!) She slides in next to him and he can't help but pull her close for another kiss. Now that he's laying down, exhaustion floods him. He pulls back and she's staring at him tenderly.
"Love  you."
"Love you too."
There's a soft smile before she is settling her head against his chest. He relaxes into his own pillow, sleep already trying to pull him under.
"Goodnight, Boss."

Writing meme: before the beginning 👀
Hey Ash!! Thanks for the ask!! ^_^
[no excuses writing meme, askbox version]
Since I still don't know if I am going to post the Reggie POV tie in to A Matter of Time, have this definitley not a snippet of it.
Luke sullenly sat at one of the cafeteria tables, staring off, barely poking at the food in front of him. Who knew where his mind was. Reggie was just surprised to see him at school in the first place. “Hey man.” Reggie greeted plastering his best smile on. “Why so grumpy?” “Got stuck with a writing partner in Humanities.” Luke mumbled, eyes still looking off at nothing. “The world must surely be ending.” Alex said full of sarcasm as he joined them at the table. “Luke Patterson, actually having to work with someone on a group project, say it isn’t so.” Luke shot a quick glare and not so subtle middle finger at Alex before his eyes focused back into the middle distance.  “Who is this poor soul so that I may extend my condolences?” Bobby said as he sat down.  “Some new girl who transferred in today.” Luke pouted. “That her there in the flannel.” Bobby asked, using his chin to point in the same direction Luke had been consistently scowling in.  Reggie followed the gesture and caught sight of a familiar plum colored flannel. He hadn’t noticed all the black striping that’d been added to the back of it before. Oh, she was new…and sitting alone. That had to suck. So, Luke hadn’t just been staring off into the distance. He’d been staring at her, which was something. Reggie’s never seen Luke focus on anything that long that wasn’t music related in, well, ever. “Yeah that’s her.” Luke said, his tone not nearly as sour as his face was. “Julie Molina.” “Maybe we should ask if she wants to sit with us.” The words tumbled out of Reggie’s mouth as the thought formed in his head. At Luke’s affronted look the rest of his thought process soon followed. “I mean, no one else seems to be sitting with her. And if she’s new she might not have any friends yet.” “Yeah, all right.” Luke said, grabbing his tray and heading towards her table. With a quick exchange of bemused but exhausted looks with Bobby and Alex, they soon followed after him. She looked absolutely stunned when Alex asked, “These seats taken?” Bewilderment that only grew when Luke sat across from her before she’d even answered. Reggie sat beside her, and Bobby blocked her attempt to shrink into the other corner of the table.  “You looked like you could use some company.” Bobby said, with one of his casual smiles. “I’m fine.” “You sure? You look nervous as hell.” Alex chimed in now that he’d sat down, after his brief grumblings to the ceiling. “Right. Because it’s so unusual to be nervous around four cute strange boys who take over your lunch table without warning.” Julie grumbled under her breath, not really looking at any of them. “Oh, you think we’re cute?” Reggie asked, a familiar fond warmth blooming in his chest. Barely just learned her name but excited all the same at being called cute. And there’s that startled look from her again, causing Reggie’s smile to deflate slightly. It deflated even more with her eye roll and head shake, she focused all of her attention down and away from them. Reggie almost regretted suggesting they talk to her. She’s clearly not interested.  “So, March’s a weird time to transfer schools isn’t it?” Luke said, the first thing he’s said to her since sitting down. Julie’s pout shifted as she glanced up at Luke, and ooooh, maybe she’s just not interested in the rest of them. That wouldn’t be a surprise. Luke was the only one at this point unaware of how many people pine over him on the regular. Many had tried and failed to get with Luke Patterson.  Then again Reggie’s never really seen Luke smile like that with anyone else. And Julie wasn’t even flirting. Somehow the conversation had shifted to his and Julie’s writing project and turned into some brainstorming session. A topic Reggie thought for sure would be just the two of them, but they’d managed to drag him, Alex, and Bobby into it as well.

Preview:
You start off feeling
Strange.
Like there's a woodpecker
needling away at the back of your mind.
You don't understand why
so you ignore it
because you're just happy to be reunited
with Her.
Happy that
Caleb Covington
seems to be a thing of the past.
All is Quiet
but then
it gets unsettling.

The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone is one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the entire country. Every year thousands of prospective chefs apply with only a handful chosen to attend. There is a long history of friendly fire between the Baking and Pastry students and the Culinary students, each specialty attracting specific personality types that don't always see eye-to-eye. While the bakers thrive off of order and precision, the hotsiders lean more towards gut feelings and controlled chaos. Never has this been more apparent than between Lukas Patterson and Julianna Molina.
For Luke, the CIA is a chance to appease his parents while still working on his music career in the background. Cooking isn't quite the same as writing music, but there's an art to it that can't be denied. Sure it stings a bit that his parents are willing to support this creative endeavor and not the one he cares the most about but beggars can't really be choosers.
For Julie, the CIA is a way to fulfill one of the promises made to her dying mother without having to fight through the pain of a different promise. The quiet of the Bakeshop in the early morning and the routine of prepping a recipe and moving through the steps has helped her find a sense of order in a world that felt out of control after the loss of her mom. There are still traditions to be carried on when it comes to baking, and if she uses school as an excuse to stop pursuing music, well no one has to know that but her.
And while at first they may believe themselves to be complete opposites, in time they come to realize they actually have a lot more in common than they originally thought. It's hard to hate someone when you start to find pieces of yourself reflected back in them. What starts as light teasing on Luke's side and pure annoyance on Julie's slowly starts to melt into something a lot softer. Turns out that sometimes when opposites attract and walls break down, the best kind of fire finds a way to burn.
look at me making a moodboard and writing a synopsis for a fic I am barely three chapters into writing😅 maybe posting this will force me to find a way to finish this fic, or maybe it will continue to live unfinished in my google docs forever.
