🧸 𝐚/𝐧 ˖ ࣪ ⊹ — short first oneshot! starting strong with an angsty leo one, just because. fun fact: this is actually an excerpt from a scene I wrote for my novel’s wip; I switched up some lines to suit the riordanverse setting more, as well as the characters’ names (:
𖡼.𖤣𖥧𖡼.𖤣𖥧
leo was breathing raggedly, and I could hear his strained breaths through the phone he’d built for me.
“leo? you okay?” I asked.
“hey love, remember when you gave me that dagger with the teddy bear keychain? and the time I said the word ‘connoisseur’ all wrong and you took two hours to make me say it right?” he laughed.
“what’s going on? leo?” I was beyond confused. why was he telling me all this now? did he get into trouble with chiron, or mr. d?
he let out a dry laugh, and continued. “do you still have that dagger I gave you in exchange for your hair tie?”
I looked down at my shoes, and my gaze slipped to the dagger concealed at the side of my boot.
“of course I do.” it barely came out as a whisper. something was very wrong and he wasn’t telling me what. “please tell me what’s wrong, leo-“
“n/n, remember when you teased me endlessly about liking that one girl in that book you love?” he chuckled. he was talking about a character named jude from one of my favourite books. of course I remembered, but what the hell was going on? why was he calling me up and asking me all of this so suddenly?
“I… i’m sorry. I love you, n/n. so fucking much.” he paused, realising what he said. “in the best friend kind of way. obviously, shortie.”
“I know what you meant, dumbass.”
“oi, are we really going back to those nicknames now?” he laughed.
is he really okay?
“leo… you’re scaring me. please tell me what the fuck is going on.” I pleaded, my voice breaking.
“what, I can’t just call my best friend up and express my gratitude on a lovely morning?” he paused, understanding I wanted the real story. “there’s another quest, and… i’m not sure i’ll be back this time. but, n/n?”
“yeah?” my heart hammered in my chest at the mention of a quest. he should be all right. he was probably just assuming the worst, right?
“thank you.” he took a deep breath. “thank you for taking care of me. thank you for understanding and being with me, for all these years.” he was on the verge of tears and holding back a sob, and I could just tell.
“leo, I love you so fucking much too, my dumbass. please tell me what quest chiron has you on. I can help you. we can do this together!” I almost yelled the last part.
he sighed. “i’m sorry, n/n, I can’t let you get hurt too. I can’t see you die like that.”
rage consumed her, like a predator would a prey. if he couldn’t watch her get hurt, did he really think she could just sit around and wait for him to die?
“shut up. shut up. don’t you dare talk like you’re dying. you will not die, and you will tell me what’s going on, in detail. I swear to the gods, valdez, I will strangle you myself if you don’t come back to me alive.”
he breathes out something in between a laugh and a sob. “i’m sorry, n/n. I can’t promise you that. I have to go now, the others are waiting for me. we’re going to leave in a few minutes.” he took a few seconds to organise his words, and I thought he hung up. until, he said the words that wholly and completely destroyed me.
“y/n y/l/n, i’m sorry. I love you.”
there was a little click, which my heart shattered in rhythm with.
I had the most soul-consuming feeling that I would be deprived of his voice for millions of years to come.

a bunch of chalice of the gods questions, since you wanted some ;)
1. what part was your favourite? (yes, you can mention several. no, you can't mention the whole book)
2. which interaction with a good did you like best and why?
3. what is a subtle detail you caught and loved the most?
4. how did you find the ending? was it satisfying for you?
5. did you forget that it was set between hoo and toa and was confused why estelle isn't present only to realise what's going on when sally told percy about her pregnancy? (me? what? no, haha, i would never, haha)
6. did you see the sequel coming? and on a scale from 10000 to 1000000 how excited are you?
7. what do you want to see in the 7th (and probably 8th) book?
also if you want to talk about something more you can write or message me, i'd love to discuss anything pjo related :)
YAY OK HERE WE GO
when Percy was wrestling Gary, and he was thinking about growing old alongside Annabeth and Grover, his two best friends 😭 and then when he said hugging Gary was what he imagined hugging his grandparents would be like... i was sobbing
i loved his eye contact conversation with Athena!! It really showed how their relationship has evolved over the books due to Percy and Annabeth's relationship
the fact that Percy is canonically the in-universe author of the PJO books because of him talking about autocorrect changing the word "chorus" to "curse" as he was typing like that validates so many of my hcs!!
i LOVED it!! i wish it was a little longer, but it was such a good addition, and the fact that the last chapter had a similar title to the last chapter of "the last olympian"
tbh i got kind of confused when the book was first announced, but i think it provided a great bridge between the series, from heroes of olympus to trials of apollo, especially with apollo's recommendation letter in the book!
I DIDN'T AND I WAS SHAKING LIKE I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED THE BOOK AND WE'VE ALREADY GOT A SEQUEL COMING???? HELLO??? I CAN'T PROCESS THIS THE PJO RESURRECTION IS HAPPENING
I'd love to see more of Grover and Percy (as if we didn't get enough lmao), a Percabeth proposal, maybe some Thalia and Nico and Rachel? definitely more of the original PJO characters that we haven't seen in forever!

percabeth (ft. luke) + too much trouble
ayyyyy that's good shit let's get cancelled like it's 2017
u know i did an angstier ot3 sort of thing with tyre fire verse years ago and the vibe of this title is definitely more rom-com. so i think the set up is like, percabeth encountered luke in tartarus and Brought Him Back With Them because like. sure there was some complicated villain history there but ultimately a) luke was possessed! and b) luke was right, so they're kind of horrified that he was even in tartarus to begin with.
so luke helps defeat the...big bad (i have forgotten the plot of heroes of olympus) but now they like. have a dead guy in the world when dead guys are really not supposed to be in the world and no one even made and orpheus type deal about it, they just kind of absconded with him. so percabeth now take it upon themselves to keep luke from being discovered as being alive (or at least, dead and present on earth) by the gods.
this involves various shenanigans, including disguises, some love potion'd valentines chocolates (not eaten by either percabeth or luke, but probably eaten by grover to unfortunate effect), an upsettingly raw conversation with thalia, and a bewildered and kind of annoyed luke finally asking why they're going through so much trouble for him when he was such an asshole to them before.
but the fic has been a whole journey of like, Luke Trying :/ he's acerbic and embittered and self-deprecating, and his pride has him trying to reject percabeth's help as often as he accepts that they're going to force him to take it anyway. he is equal parts of the opinion that he can never make up for what he did, and also of the opinion that he shouldn't have to. but he does want to be good, so the fic has these instances of compassion from him towards like, stray demigods, and him quietly doing first aid for percy after percy gets injured doing something dumb to save him, and sob probably metaphorically and/or literally lifting some kind of burden off annabeth at some point as a callback to, u know, the whole atlas thing.
and percabeth at this point understand the value of trying and the trap that is trying to please the gods, and they are wounded and embittered enough themselves that this is a case of jagged edges meeting jagged edges in a way that fits together well instead of cutting each other deeper. i think they just kind of look at each other and shrug, and annabeth says 'life is more interesting with trouble' and then she holds his hand and percy slings an arm over his shoulder and they go yell at the gods until luke is allowed to stay in the mortal world mostly because annabeth bluffs about having built in a destruction mechanism to all of her olympus redesigns and she WILL blow up their house

The EagleOwl Swap Au Part 5A- Blood Of Olympus Au Part 1
Would you look at that: we're here, at the end :D. Spoilers, major character death coming up. And thanks to everyone who stuck with me till the end
When we last left Reyna and Posessed Percy, they were duking it out in the middle of Hades's Temple before she performed a magic trick in a panic, that somehow got them to Calypso's Island. Now, Circe and her assistants knew how to get to Calypso's Island, but couldn't because of the curse, which only letting heroes enter. However, the curse was sorta broken. Calypso still can't leave, because the curse is too powerful to fully negate it, but the gods can make a countercurse: which was that a heroine would come to shore and finally end the heartbreak Calypso faced for millennia.
Look I read this fic between Calypso and Reyna and it was so heartwrenching and good chemistry that I have decided to put it here :D Also I need some more Calypso over Zoe's sacrifice. (I have spelled Zoe's name wrong, but I don't know where to get the e with two dos on top) Just a few more years, and they could have seen each other agan.
Reyna offers to kill him, after Calypso knocks Percy unconcious as soon as they arrive in the island, but Calypso offers a non-violent option which was to help overcome the enchantment, though it's going to take while. At first, Reyna disagrees, but at Calypso's insistence (She has a soft spot for him, because he actually managed to help her break the curse), Reyna obliges.
At first Percy fights against them, and is very resistant to all the things Calypso tries to do to him, until Reyna asks if he knew Annabeth, where he stills. Sensing an opportunity, Reyna talks about her, and the memory of Annabeth that was coming in trickles alone broke the hold Gaia had over him. His memories are barely there at this point.
They stay there for what seemingly feels like a few months, but was just six days in real world time, because they need time to heal Reyna's wounds and break whatever enchantment Percy has. Calypso and Reyna bond, and maybe catch feelings for one another, and Reyna actually starts pondering what to do with her life. She had the most fun with her life when she was in a quest, travelling and seeing new sights (and terrors), and that staying in one place too long makes her senile. These new opportunities showed her a new way she could live her life. Having a taste of freedom was refreshing, and maybe, she once to follow that calling, after the war ends.
Reyna and Calypso bond over heartbreak, Calypso teaching her to be a little more emphathetic, that all problems cannot be solved by violence, and Reyna showing how to fight with a sword to her. Percy's recovery is slow, with the healing herbs and magic Calypso casts on him, and he slowly regains his memories, but some memories are just gone; aka the ones Gaia meddled with. He misses a chunk of memories he had with Annabeth, any memory of Sally past the minotaur kidnapping her in TLT is gone, and many of the memories he had during the Titan War in general are just gone.
He atleast remembered Circe Island, although that's a bit hazy at most, so Reyna gets to scream at him for just ditching them with the pirates, and it soon turns into trauma dumping and soon into sobbing, because finally Reyna cries, and it's sooo freeing and all her traumas are, while not gone, a lot easier to handle. Facing the world becomes easier.
So for the next few months, Calypso gives Percy a daily does of medcine, they then have a training session with Reyna, before they have therapy talks and check if a boat has magically appeared. (Reyna can't get out of this island with the teleportation trick she pulled, only get in the island. If she could, Calypso would have left oh so long ago) As Reyna start to learn snippets of Percy's life, and all the help he has done by making that wish at the end of the Titan war, she starts to forgive him little by little. The day she fully forgives him, is the day the boat arrives on the shore, and now Calypso can also leave yippee. But the boat carries... Annabeth?
Six days ago, the romans and greeks have fled from the ruins of CHB and have set up camp far away from Gaia's army. Thanks to Piper and Frank's efforts, and the battle they serverely lost and the many people they lost, they bond together and band together to take back the camp grounds. Leo and Piper mourn together the loss of Jason, crying their hearts out, and Frank and Hazel stick close, fearing that any moment could be their last.
Leo blames a lot of people for Jason while in the medical tent; himself, the Argo 2 crew, Gaia, Hades, his father, Percy, and Will, hearing that rant and surprised he had seen Percy, ask him for more info, and well, a few patients heard that.
Soon the rumours of Percy joining Gaia runs like wildfire through the greeks, and morale sinks to an all new low- betrayal, grief, anger. The counsellors hear word of this, and Clarisse confronts Nico and Annabeth with Thalia and Grover about this. Annabeth, surprisingly for her, does not break down like she did in the Argo 2, instead she holds her grounds, telling them Percy isn't with the enemy willingly like the rumours suggested, and that she will save Percy, even if it kills her. Her friends are worried, to say the least, but there's no time to save their friend, and how could they when they don't know where he would be in the first place. There's some little angst there with Chiron as well, because that's another one of the kids he became too attached too suffering.
Leo is feeling a little bit suicidal at the moment, because his first friend is gone and that trauma hits him like a truck, but Piper talks to him about that, relating to her own experiences of when she felt suicidal and hw she overcame it. It wasn't as helpful to Leo as Piper wanted it to be, but it was a step in the right direction.
Leo rebuilds Fetus, and the romans and greeks prepare for war, and they have an advantage, because they know the battlefield intimately. And because of the Hephaestus Cabin, and a surprise visit from the god himself, they finished the prep the day before the solstice. Hera arrives, saying that they are too busy fighting the other armies of Gaia, but that Gaia and the giants will be at CHB.
Rachel gets a vision of where Reyna and Percy are, and Annabeth pieces together that they are in Calypso's Island. Annabeth demands Hera to bring her there, and tutting at her insolence, but letting it slide, atleast for now, teleports her to a raft heading there
Once Annabeth reaches Calypso's Island, there's a bittersweet percabeth reunion, but it's not the same Percy anymore, with his memories gone and he still loves her, but it's just not the same anymore.
Reyna, Annabeth, and Percy aren't there when the battle for CHB and Olympus begins, and it goes sorta well, until the giants show up. The remaining Argo 2 crew fight them, with the help of the centruions and the other big three children, and it all seems to be okay, until they face against the revived Enceladus, who manages to make Frank and Piper spill their blood, and thus revive Gaia.
Instead of being in her otherworldy form, she takes the form of a mortal, for convenience, and starts to toy with the demigods. She engrages Leo, and he starts with a ferocious assault, that doesn't seem to harm them though. And to make matters worse, Percy shows up, with a tied up Reyna and Annabeth, and it seems like his on Gaia's side. Something seems off about him. The conversation between Gaia and Encleadus goes like this:
"Hmmm, something tells me I shouldn't trust him?" "Why so?" "I don't know what, but it's bugging me" "Well atleast you have him under control right" "..." "...Mother?" "...Oh that's what's wrong: the spell's broken completely, heh-wait a minute-"
Too late, because Annabeth and crew has sucessfully tricked the enemies, thanks to yours truly. And a little help from Calypso for the magic special effects. Catching everyone by surprise, mid speech Percy summons a bigggg tidal wave and earthquake at the same time and destroy almost a fifth of Gaia's army, and they start panicking.

Annabeth Chase x fem! Reader - Heartbreak Irony Part 1
A/n: Reader is a child of Aphrodite and I have no idea where this takes place in the timeline but I do know that it's after hero's of Olympus but they're all still at camp??? Idk man
Part 1 Part 2
Warnings: Swearing, I think that's it? You have been warned!
Summary: Children of Aphrodite are usually expected to leave a string of broken hearts behind them, yet your heart seems to be taking all the weight
Pronouns used: No pronouns but the reader is referenced multiple times as a girl
(Art is NOT mine, it belongs to the creator)
Tumblr media
Being a female child of Aphrodite you were always expected to leave a trail of broken hearts as you walked through life. Sure Piper had shaken things up, but it was still unsaid between campers to never fall for an Aphrodite kid. Much less one of the girls. Perhaps that would have happened if you were someone else crueler, more unfeeling, who had the guts to go out with a boy.
Yet every time you thought of yourself with someone in the future you didn't see a boy you saw a gorgeous girl and you.
And over time you saw Annabeth chase your best friend, and you were painfully aware that she was taken and happy. That was the worst thing about unrequited love when the other person was taken ya, but even worse happy. Happy beyond any time you've seen her happy before.
It hurt, every time you glanced over at her you could see she was happy, so, so, happy. You aren't but that doesn't matter, because although you could try and break her and Percy up, she wouldn't be happy, it wouldn't just be wrong it would all be in vain. Annabeth and Percy were as thick as thieves, they would figure themselves out, and you didn't want to be that person.
"Hey, Y/n." You're pulled out of your trance by the one and only Annabeth Chase.
"Hey, Anna." You smile softly at her, waving to her to sit beside you in the flowery field.
"Can I talk to you about Percy for a second?"
You press your lips together and roll your eyes, as much as Percy's done nothing to you in your head you hated him. Simply because he had what you couldn't.
"Sure, what do you need relationship advice? You guys seem pretty good."
Annabeth shifts uncomfortably but she doesn't advert her eyes from yours, her fiery gaze is upon you and you're suddenly hit that this isn't just some normal talk about life.
"I think you know what I want to talk about."
Your blood goes cold and you keep your eyes on the blue sky in front of you. You couldn't look at her, not right now, not if she's figured it out.
"Stop scaring me Anna, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about." You joke and inside your howling because that's the biggest lie you've ever told anyone.
"Do I need to spell it out for you Y/n!"
You whip your head to look at you as tears blur your vision yet that joking smile is still attached to your face.
"Gladly."
She angrily grabs onto your shoulders so that you're now fully facing her, and her face is only a few inches away from yours.
"You are my best friend and you're in love with my boyfriend!"
An uncaring silence settles between the two of you, the only sound that you can hear is her heavy breathing after yelling at you.
Then you laugh, you laugh because this is the funniest thing you've ever heard, you laugh a heart-wrenching-soul-crushing laugh. You laugh till you're sobbing so much it hurts. Oh, and she is still only a few inches away from you.
"You're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and I can't have you."
Then you pull her closer and kiss her, you kiss her because you've never loved anything more than her. It feels bittersweet, because it tastes and feels so good, yet you know that this is the only time that you will ever get to have her close like this. Your tears mix in as your lips mesh together, in a messy tangle of something that will never be, yet all at the same time it's the echo of what could have been.
Finally, you push her away and cry into your hands, you feel her hand on your shoulder. You know it's supposed to be comforting but it only adds insult to injury.
"Leave, just fucking leave me."
She does, Annabeth with her strawberry blonde curls and her twinkling, calculating, gray eyes leave you.
You are a child of Aphrodite you know you're supposed to leave a trail of broken hearts behind you as you walk through life but you couldn't, you don't think you would be able to love someone as much as you love that child of Athena.
Therefore you just cried on that hill, you wanted to scream but it wouldn't come out of your throat. This wasn't heartbreak, this was heart-crushing, you balled your hands up into fists the weight on your chest never leaving you. That ever empty feeling that you hated kept on growing till it surrounded you.
"Oh, Y/n." You hear Nico's voice behind you and you don't even bother to turn around to look at him. It wouldn't matter anyway, it would just be him, and although you have been very grateful for him because he's helped you through so much you wanted it so badly to be her behind you - taking you into her embrace.
"How did it feel when you used to see Percy with her all the time?" You whisper looking up at the sky that's stayed stubbornly blue this entire time, too happy, too enchanted.
Nico doesn't say anything for a long time your sniffles are the only sound filling the air, he doesn't sit beside you on the ground either. You must have caught him off guard, it was always just usually you trying to take your mind off of things, or trying to work through his current problems. You had never asked how it had been when he used to be in love with Percy.
"It was like someone was slicing open my chest... Every time. What about you?"
"It's like she's the only thing I ever see, sometimes I see this cute girl that I think I could get with but all I ever do is compare them. And she's always better, why is she so good?" Your voice cracks.
With a hoarse voice, you ask the question everyone who's ever suffered from unrequited love always asks; "Did it ever get better?"
You needed this answer, you truly wanted the answer to be yes. Your stomach felt like it was caving in with anticipation, please Gods let everything get better.
"For me it did, and I fell out of love but for you Y/n? I don't think it'll get better. I don't know why I just-"
"Because I'll always love her." You whimper, your bottom lip pulled between your teeth.
After that Nico doesn't say anything, and when you eventually look back he isn't there anymore. You can't say you were surprised, you would have left if you would have been in his shoes.
In the end, you knew she would never love you, yet there's one thing;
You'll never forget that she kissed you back.

V.
2889. Hell was erupting on the planet of Olympus-V in its final hours.
A fierce rainstorm barreled down on the alien world’s rocky cliff face. A dangerous surf crashed on the rocks, the sea threatening to scale the cliffs. The sky glowed crimson, illuminated by a Red Giant that was hours from its own collapse. The red light gave the rainstorm an eerie hue. It looked like it was raining blood.
The landscape was crowned by the fiery wreckage of an alien ship. It was the intended getaway vessel of a dangerous variant that managed to escape your team through a hijacked Time Door. Your team followed him boldly, not realizing it was never a getaway. It was a suicide mission. And you walked right into a kamikaze attack.
The variant was dead. Eight other Minutemen were dead. Your still-sorta-new analyst partner was dead. B-15 was badly wounded and unresponsive. You and C-20 were stumbling through the corridors of the ship, both sporting nasty head wounds, as you dragged-carried B-15 towards refuge.
Catastrophe was a mild description, never mind the looming apocalypse outside.
“Help!” another voice rang out from the distance. It was U-91. “Somebody help me!”
You turned towards the sound of the man’s voice, stopping in your tracks. You looked at C-20.
The ground beneath your feet was subtly moving, quaking the ship with every inch. The rocky soil beneath you was giving way under the weight of the wreckage. You and C-20 knew that soon the ship would be a fireball at the bottom of the cliff. But you couldn’t leave him behind.
“Go,” you ordered. “Get her outta here.”
You turned around and rushed back into the smoke and flames. C-20 watched you anxiously as you disappeared. She carried on her rescue mission, dragging B-15 towards a temporarily opened Time Door that would lead them safely back to TVA HQ. It would stay open, as long as the ship didn’t crumble down the cliff.
You were alone again, covering your mouth with your jacket sleeve, following the painful groans as they grew louder.
“I’m over here!” U-91 hollered, his voice echoing down a corridor that was bent nearly vertically. You spotted his position, flush against the ground, but you would have to scale walls of the hallway at a steep angle to reach him. “I’m stuck on something!” he shouted.
“Hang on!” you replied. You approached the base of the corridor with trepidation. Carefully and quickly, you began to climb up the hallway via the walls. You gripped door frames, pipes, handles - anything that you could use to scale the corridor.
“Where’s A-19,” the Minuteman shouted about his partner. “I can’t find A-19!” He sounded panicked, which was never good.
“Hang on, I’m almost there!”
“Did you find A-19?”
You didn’t immediately reply, seeing from your vantage point what he could not. U-91 was less than 10 feet from you, and was truly “stuck.”
His leg was impaled on a ripped pipe that had torn away from the wall in the crash. He was hanging there helplessly by his limb. You winced at the sight and scanned your eyes over the area. You locked on to another gruesome sight: the body of his partner of many years, A-19, crushed by a beam just feet away..
“I c-can’t move,” U-91 said with a choked-out sob. You’d never seen this hunter anything less than tough-as-nails. But now he was weeping. “I-I… I can’t find A-19.”
“It’s okay,” you said as calmly as you could. His wailing broke your heart. “I’m going to get you.”
The final hurdle was going to be just that. You needed to jump up and reach the top of the doorframe to be able to free U-91. You glanced down the corridor warily.
The ship growled impatiently as it shifted another inch.
You used all your strength to leap up in the air and catch the doorframe. You’re pretty sure you sprained your shoulder, if you hadn’t already in the crash. You struggled to keep a firm grip as you shimmied to reach him.
While supporting his weight, you pulled the pipe downwards and freed him. His weight fell on you, unleashing cries from you both. But you didn’t let go.
U-91 looked at you blearily, body wracked with pain and exhaustion. He froze. His eyes went black. You knew exactly whose body he could finally see.
“No,” he cried out pitifully. “No!”
“We have to go!” you implored him. “The ship is unstable and we’re going to fall.”
He couldn’t take his eyes off of his partner’s body.
You held him tightly, and looked down the corridor to where you began. This part was basically a giant slide if you aimed just right. Just like at a water park. Piece of cake.
You said a brief prayer and leaned U-91’s weight across your chest as you both slid down the walls of the corridor. You landed with a harsh thud and U-91 cried out again in agony.
You looked up at the Time Door, still open where you left it - where C-20 and B-15 had already made their escape. It was just you and U-91 alone. If you ran now, you could make it.
“You did this,” you heard U-91 moan beside you. He was delirious; you could only imagine the immense physical and emotional pain he was in. “We should’ve never followed you—”
His sentiments burned like acid, but you shook them off. “Come on!” you hissed, using all of your strength to pull him onto your back. Your shoulder was buckling from the weight, still ravaged from your last injury in the field.
Maybe you were bad luck. Maybe U-91 had a point.
“I need you to walk!” you ordered him.
“You killed us,” U-91 repeated through chattering teeth. “You killed us...”
You tried to throw him on your back and carry him fireman-style towards the exit. Four steps in and you lost your balance. Both of you fell to the ground as the ship started quaking. This time, it didn’t stop.
You felt a strong hand grip your upper arm and yank you to your feet. For a moment you expected to see C-20 back to rescue you. Your heart skipped a beat at who you saw instead.
Mobius pulled you up close until you were nearly nose-to-nose. You gaped at him like a literal deus ex machina come down from the heavens to deliver salvation. He wasn’t supposed to be on this mission. He wasn’t on the mission. How did he get here—?
The Time Door. He went through the Time Door. He came there for you.
“We gotta move!” Mobius shouted as the vibrations jolted you both into action. He reached down and grabbed hold of U-91, and you grabbed the injured man’s other side. It was much quicker to carry the man down the hallway until you were steps away from the time door.
Then the ground shifted, and your world was upside down.
Tumblr media
When you came to, the first thing you felt was the cold. You were laying on the ceiling of the ship.
There was a voice echoing— Mobius’ voice. He was crouched down over you shouting something that you couldn’t hear.
You noticed his TVA flank jacket and tie. Paired with the mustache he looked like a detective on a procedural cop show. This stupidly-handsome, hero time cop walked into an apocalypse to save you, now stared down at you with wide, terrified eyes.
That’s when you realized you couldn’t move.
“Stay with me,” he implored, as he lifted your head out of the water.
With your ears clear, you could finally hear the chaos around you. A symphony of groans from twisting metal squealed and cracked through the halls of the ship. You could hear another crushing sound on top of the din. Rushing water.
You lifted your head to see why you were cold. You were laying in rising water with your hips pinned to the ground by a fallen steel door. Mobius was pulling up on the door desperately trying to free you.
Your heart began to pound.
The ship had fallen off the cliff into the ocean below. You were now sinking, the wreckage falling deeper into the sea, with you trapped inside.
You saw water rushing in through the hallways, filling all the corridors. It surrounded you. It was going to bury you.
“Agent Mobius!” you heard from a distance. “Get through the portal!”
You turned your head to see two Minutemen shouting as they dragged the injured U-91 through a flickering Time Door. They were so far away.
“Get help!” Mobius ordered frantically. “I can’t lift it off of her!”
“We can’t keep it open!” one of their voices echoed back. “Sir, you gotta get out bef—”
The door shorted out and vanished. And now, you were both trapped. .
“Mobius…” you exclaimed, barely able to breathe through your terror.
The water was rising quickly. Mobius glanced down at you again, and he reached down deeper to get a grip on your restraints. You both struggled and grunted, but the door only slid a little further without freeing you.
You were allowed a little more space to breathe, and were able to lift your torso a little higher out of the water. The relief was short-lived. The water was flowing rapidly and neither of you were strong enough.
“Damn it!” he roared in frustration.
You glanced around frantically and spotted an opportunity. “Look! There!”
He followed the end of your finger to a pipe nearby. He was on his feet immediately, kicking the piece of metal loose as you continued to try to push the door off of you. Once he broke the pipe free, he brought it over to you and stuck it in the space between your body and the watery ground, driving it down deep beside your leg. He gripped the pole tight and lifted with all of his might.
You pushed up on the door as he shouted, his muscles burning. You were shifting and thrashing like a fish in the frigid water until you were finally able to pull your hips out. You kicked furiously in the tiny crawl space until your legs were freed.
Mobius dropped the weight, and collapsed on his hands and knees. You were reaching for him desperately, your fingers aching to hold him. He wrapped his arms around you, embracing you tightly, as you both kneeled in the ocean water.
A sob escaped your lips as you buried your face in his neck. “You came back for me…” Your body shook as you cried like a child.
He tightened his hold on you and you felt the hair of his mustache graze the delicate skin of your neck.
“Of course,” he replied.
You wanted to hold onto him forever, letting the tears flow freely down your cheeks. It was the greatest act of love that anyone had ever shown you. And it was about to be the last.
Your eyes focused ominously on other imminent danger pounding its way through the doors.
“Moby...” you shuddered as he pulled you up to your feet. The water level was crawling up your thighs, rushing in from everywhere.
He snapped into action, grabbed you by the wrist, and pulled you back down the (inverted) hallway where the Time Door once stood. You took giant strides to push through the current towards a less-submerged part of the corridor.
It became easier to run, but everywhere you looked, your nightmares were coming to life. Your brain began to cease; your mind locked up. You were being paralyzed by terror.
Mobius was shouting something again, but you only caught part of it.
“...outer ring of the ship. If we swim we can make it.”
“What?” you blinked incredulously. He pointed towards a submerged hallway. A water-filled tunnel into the deep darkness. You looked up at him with wide eyes, horrified at his suggestion.
“The ship’s emergency systems would’ve opened the door passages in the event of a crash,” Mobius rushed to explain. “The way should be clear. If we swim now, we can make it out of the ship and up to the surface.”
You were shaking your head, trembling uncontrollably.
“We can do this,” Mobius breathed, pulling you towards the deeper end of the water.
“No-no-no,” you shrank away from his grip. “No, please, no..!”
“We don’t have a choice!” he exclaimed, wrapping his arms around you. He took a breath and calmed himself once more, “We’re running out of time.”
“Please, don’t make me!” You were crying again. “I-I-I can’t, I’ll drown.”
“No, you won’t—”
“You don’t know where you’re going! You don’t know if there’s even a way out!”
“We have to try,” he explained, meeting your pleas with calm declarations. “If we don’t, we’re gonna die in here. The more we wait, the deeper we sink.”
He had stopped pulling you towards the water, but he wouldn’t let you pull away. He held your body close to him, and for a moment you thought he’d drag you under. He was begging you not to give him a reason.
“Please icanticantocant…” You gripped his chest desperately.
His hands went to the sides of your head, a placating touch matched with a stern voice. “Look at me,” he ordered. He was once again that person that you’d met in the time theater: calm, compassionate, but equally authoritative and focused. “Look at me,” he repeated. You did, and that was the last time he’d ever have to give you directions twice.
You reached up and covered his hands with your own as he held your face. His dark orbs were gentle as they drew you in, hypnotizing you into a vague sense of calm.
He was reading you again—reading and dictating the pages of your mind, writing miracles in the margins of your nightmares.
“You can do this,” he declared with resolve. He whispered to you at a frequency you could hear, even over the crashing current. “You’re the best hunter we have. I’ve seen what you can do.” He gazed at you like he could see the sun rise through your eyes. “You can do anything.”
Your heart swelled and ached.
“I swear to you,” he said softly, as if in prayer, “you will make it to the surface.” He touched his forehead to yours as he wiped the tears from your face with his calloused thumbs. “You’re not going to drown.”
He sounded so confident. Like it was already written and he’d read it many times before, and this was all just another page in the chronicles of the Sacred Timeline. You wanted to believe him. He was asking you to believe him.
That was the moment you realized it.
He was the only thing in the universe that mattered to you.
You couldn’t fathom a version of your story without him in it. You believed in him. And even if he was wrong, it was worth dying for.
You wanted to cry out; to tell him all of the things you felt for him - that you loved him, and would die for him, and wanted nothing more than to be back in his bed at the TVA where he could hold you and tell you that the nightmares were over and that you were safe with him.
“Okay?” he said to you, his eyes fixed.
You blinked at him, and gave him a gentle nod. “Okay.”
He took your hand in his and walked you into the icy water. You were soaked already but your body jolted from the shocking cold.
“We need to slow down our heart rates,” Mobius explained. “Preserve the oxygen a little longer, alright? So we’re going to take five deep breaths - together, then we go under, okay? I’ll give you the signal when it’s safe to breathe.”
You nodded, despite your terror. You couldn’t take your eyes off him, trying to burn into your memory every line and curve of his face.
“Just don’t leave me behind, okay?” you pleaded with him meekly. You didn’t even think about what you’d said until it was done. His eyes softened as they rested on you. “Promise you’ll stay with me?” you asked.
He contemplated you, then reached out and pressed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
“Always,” he promised.
You both turned towards the water, then back to each other. “Okay, five deep breaths,” he instructed. “In and out. Through your nose.” You filled your chest with air and exhaled deeply.
“That’s one,” he counted. “Pull in from the diaphragm.” Mobius rested his hand on your stomach and watched it move with your next inhale and exhale.
“Two.” Another deep breath. He removed his hand from your belly and grasped your hand. There was no way you were going to let it go.
“Three.”
You were gazing into his eyes again, losing yourself in their warm earthy tones.
“Four. One more, in and out.”
You pulled the air in through your nose and out through your mouth, in sync with him.
“Five. Deep breath.”
You filled your lungs as tightly as you could, and dived beneath the surface with him.
It was so much darker than you’d expected. You might as well have been swimming through a starry sky, and in your mind that’s what you wanted to pretend. There were brief flashes - sparks from blown fuses, mostly - that would illuminate your surroundings. You pretended they were flares from stars dying out as you swam through the milky way.
The water was so cold. It was the kind of cold that your skin doesn’t acclimate to. You started counting in your mind as your feet kicked. You weren’t sure how long you'd been holding your breath, but you’d only made it down the first hallway. Mobius pulled you around another corner, continuing on to some blind destination.
How did he know where he was going? You didn’t let your mind dwell on it, as you felt your heart start to pound under the exertion. He knows about space ships, probably an expert. An expert on space ships and jetskis.
Down another corridor. It was getting darker. Were you supposed to be swimming up, or down? You were moving so slow although every muscle in your body struggled to propel you forward. Maybe the cold was slowing you down.
Your chest was burning.
Mobius was still kicking and pulling himself through the water, holding your hand tightly. He was a strong swimmer. Fit for his age, which was… 1,000? Time moved differently in the TVA, so you didn’t know. He was moving slower now, you noticed. Or maybe time was slowing down. Maybe you were drowning already.
God, your chest hurts.
You reached another intersection. He hesitated, looking back and forth briefly. Your mind registered the brief pause, but before you began to panic he pulled you along.
The stars had all gone out. It was so dark.
You kept thrusting your arms deeper through the water, picking up the pace. They were burning from lack of oxygen, but it only made you fight harder.
Mobius pulled you to a stop and you went through another door. It was an elevator shaft of some kind, and the sparks above illuminated the path forward.
Bright lights were filling your gaze, but not from the sparks.
You kept kicking. You could see light. Red light.
Mobius is pulling you forward now. The opening is right there. You’re almost out of the ship and can see the red glow of the surface.
Every thrust of your arms makes them weaker. Like you’re swimming in molasses.
Your lungs are on fire. You’re kicking freely past the confines of the ship. The surface is getting brighter. How deep were you - maybe 40 feet? 30 feet?
You weren’t going to make it.
You were running out of air fast. Your body was beginning to convulse as Mobius held you against him. The world around you was getting brighter and darker.
You weren’t going to make it. You were running out of time.
Mobius stopped his upward push and for the first time you could feel he was losing it too. He let go of your hand, but grabbed the sides of your face. His mouth was on yours, and he gripped the knape of your neck.
That’s when you felt it. The double-squeeze. The signal.
You breathed inwards instinctively before you realized what he was doing. He emptied the last bit of oxygen into your lungs and you felt his grip soften.
It wasn’t much, but it was enough to save you from blacking out. You felt his touch disappear. Your hand shot out through the water and gripped him by the arm. You turned your gaze up to the surface and kicked as hard as you could, reaching up for the sky.
No, no, no, no, no.
You were busy trying to convince your mind that this wasn’t really happening. That Mobius was not limp in the current beneath you. You climbed furiously upwards. 15 feet. 10 feet. 5 feet.
Your head ripped through the surface as you gasped for air, choking on the blistering pain. Rain pelted your face as you kicked to stay afloat on the surface. “Mobius!” you cried out as you dragged him up above the water. His head rolled back in a way that gutted you.
You glanced around frantically as a wave crested over you both, filling your mouth with sea water. You spat as you broke through the surface again, kicking even harder to keep him afloat.
You started swimming towards the shore. The tide allowed you to ride the current most of the way. It was dumb luck. You probably would have drowned otherwise.
You held Mobius tight, fighting to keep his head above water, as another surge pushed you forward. A beachhead at the base of the cliff was visible in your sights. One more wave and you both washed up on the crystalline white sand of the shore.
Every muscle in your body throbbed, but you didn’t stop. You squirmed to your feet and dragged your partner with all of your strength further up the beach.
He wasn’t moving. You crouched down beside him, your body shaking with terror. You dropped your ear to his mouth.
He wasn’t breathing.
“No... no, Mobius...”
Your teeth were chattering cold while hot tears flooded down your cheeks. Your mind struggled frantically to process a solution.
You stacked your hands firmly in the center of his chest and sat up on your knees, counting each compression under your breath.
After the count of ten, you tilted his head back, opening his airway, pinched his nose and breathed deeply into his lungs. Tears were falling freely from your eyes onto his face, and you choked back a sob after your second breath did not resuscitate him.
“No,” your voice was thick with anger. “No - you promised me.”
You repeated the process of CPR, compressing his chest and breathing into his mouth to no avail.
“You promised me, you son of a bitch,” you hissed. “You promised you’d stay with me!”
You shoved the heel of your palm into his chest even harder. Your shoulders were filled with a strength that the rest of your body was drained of. This was worse than heartbreak. Your soul was crumbling.
“Please don’t leave,” you were begging. “Please come back... Please, I need you...”
A cough sprang forth from his throat as water shot up from his mouth.
The rush of joy winded you and knocked you to your elbows. Mobius turned his head and expelled the rest of the sea water from his lungs, coughing harshly, his whole body shaking.
You were shaking too, not just from the cold.
“God,” you breathed, overcome with immeasurable relief. Hearing him gasp for air was the closest you’d ever come to heaven.
You laid your head on his chest as silent cries racked your body. You were now a disciple, a humble and devout witness to whatever miracle brought you two together. You squeezed your eyes shut as you listened to the sound of his heartbeat, the gentle sound of each blessed breath. And you worshipped him.
“S-See,” he said with a cough, that sly smirk on his face. “To-toldya w-we’d make it.”
And for that comment, you were going to kill him.
Part 6
A/N: Ok kids, the next chapter is straight up hard R-rated. Like X-rated. Like. The. Whole. Chapter. I’ve never written anything like this. And it’s long! Is that weird? I keep thinking 4k words of smut is like… whoa… Your thoughts in the comments, please. Part of me also just wants to cut the smut in the middle but that would be cruel, right?
Did you like this chapter? Reblog & let me know! If you're not tagged, it's because I couldn't tag you.

heroes of olympus ranked by the saddest/worst childhoods:
(my opinion. you don’t have to agree, that’s okay).
1. HAZEL - i think this is self explanatory. black girl in southern america in the 30s, bullied badly. then watched her mother get possessed by the earth mother, father didn’t care, forced to move on her thirteenth birthday to alaska. was repeatedly told she was a bad, sick child. then was forced to do unspeakable things by marie/gaea, used her powers to make a body for a giant, then had no other choice but to kill herself and her mother to stop gaea from rising. THEN gave up elysium so her mother wouldn’t get the field of punishment. in the Son of Neptune, during one of her backstories, Hazel says, “Hazel felt as if she were expanding to the breaking point, just like that spire in the pit. Her misery would soon become to great to hold inside, and her skin would shatter.” excuse me while i go and sob 😭
2. Reyna - girl her backstory is so fucking sad. watched her dad become insane and paranoid. her dad collected weapons and turned their house into a fortress, and locked her in her room, and when she and her sister would sneak out and get caught, he would throw furniture and yell at them. then he becomes convinced that reyna and hylla are the enemy. ghosts of her ancestors would watch reyna from afar (creepy af). then julian becomes a mania and after they snuck out one day, reyna was TEN, julian got so angry he started glowing, ripping up their house and threw a chair at hylla. reyna then thought her sister was dead as it knocked her unconscious, then had no choice but to kill her own father. a ghost appeared before her and taunted her, telling her she would never flee her crime and never forget her past, calling her a murderer and traitor. then she went to circe’s island and that got destroyed by yours truly percy jackson and annabeth chase, then she was kidnapped by the pirates (who did gods knows what to her) for months and then managed to escape. then she and her sister parted ways after all those years together where they had no one but each other. okay, maybe reyna should be number one.
3. Nico - lots of people would think he needs to be 1, but i don’t think so, and i’m talking about backstories only. he saw his mother walk into a hotel and then watched it explode after it got struck by lightning. then he got his memory wiped and then they were left with a bank trust and a lawyer would come in to check them every once in a while. oh, and then he got stuck in the lotus hotel for seventy years, which they only thought was a month. then westover hall. then bianca dies. yeah.
4. Jason - ugh this boy. his mother left him at the wolf house and told him that she’d be back, but never was. so jason, a little two year old boy, was left crying in the ruins and yelling for his mom and thalia. he was then taken in by wolves (can you imagine how scary that must’ve been for a little boy?) and was raised and trained like a roman soldier. there was no weakness. he wasn’t allowed to, or else he would be eaten alive. yeah. then he made it to camp jupiter and was offered first cohort for being a son of jupiter but denied it. he befriended the least popular kids and went on the least glamorous quests, but was still considered a prince and had everyone’s eyes on him from such a young age. he spent twelve years in the legion and was always the leader. then he led the assault on mount othrys and defeated the titan krios with hand to hand combat, and toppled kronos’s throne. this isn’t tragic, but what is tragic is that he and the legion never got a thanks from the gods.
5. Leo - his fucking nanny tia callida laid him in an actual fire pit and sang him lullabies like some sort of psychopath. and tia callida gave him knives when he was three. she told him to poke a rattlesnake in the grass with a stick (oh that’s super smart for a four year old boy to do). his cousin raphael bullied him. his aunt rosa made him eat with dead people. then, when trying to hurt gaea, she made him angry and made his hands catch on fire. leo fell into a rage and tried to save himself and his mother, but accidentally killed his mother and burned her alive. and then his aunt rosa turned his entire family against him (called him the devil) and told the social care workers to take him away and stuffed him into foster care. he was bullied badly and would run away from his foster care homes and, when he was in between foster homes, would sleep under an actual bridge.
6. Annabeth - since she was a demigod, annabeth was a target for monsters which caused constant fighting between her dad and her stepmother who felt like she was putting everyone (as in her two twin stepsiblings) in danger. she was assaulted by spiders, her worst fear, for three days each night as a seven year old girl. she would scream for her father but he was never there and her stepmother didn’t believe her. as a seven year old girl, she believed her family hates her, so she ran away and smashed monsters with a hammer with the guidance of her immortal mother for MONTHS. then she was taken in by luke and thalia and they became her family. then they found grover and were chased by monsters sent from hades, who was looking to kill thalia for revenge. grover took wrong turns and led them into a cyclops lair on accident. then the cyclops lured everyone except annabeth, who stabbed one of the cyclops in the foot. the group was chased by a pack of hellhounds and all three furies on their way to half-blood hill. she was forced to watch thalia be overran by monsters and killed and dragged away by luke. she heard the great prophecy when she was ten and had nightmares about it because chiron told her she “would have a big part to play”, and that brings us to tlt. damn.
7. Percy - strangled a snake at a day care center when he was two (this is pretty traumatic). was bullied and abused by his stepfather from a very young age and had to watch his mother be in an awful relationship. was bullied badly by other people. he was in military academies where they believed “paddling is good for the soul.” he was stalked by a cyclops in the third grade.
8. Frank - his mother died in a military accident and was then raised by his grandmother. he was then told, at his mother’s funeral, that his whole entire life depends on this little piece of fire wood that if burned, he would literally fall over dead. then, that same evening, he was told he was going to be shipped off to wolves and then to camp jupiter (if he survived its trials ofc).
9. Piper - she fell off a horse when she was six and drove past a meat processing place that made her sick 😭 (this is a joke). but for real, her rich super star dad avoided her and didn’t pay any attention to her, which caused her to act out. she was bullied for being cherokee. and then she finds out months of her life was just a trick of the mist and that her boyfriend doesn’t actually like her at all? sad man.

Even when chosen one succumbs to the fields,
the hero will never yield.
To save Olympus and finish the war,
Is everyone’s final goal thus far.
The son of Zeus stands high and proud,
While the other watches happily from the ground.
The war is to end when the other is safe and sound,
To break the chains keeping Olympus bound.
Tumblr media
Y/N collapsed on the floor, her mind racing a mile a minute.
Joonhyuk is dead.
From behind her, she can hear Ari—daughter of Aphrodite and Joonhyuk’s girlfriend—break into hysterics.
Bongjoo—son of Demeter—fretted over the girl and Beomjae—son of Athena—wracked his mind for solutions to the current dilemma.
“What do you mean my brother is dead?” Y/N muttered from her spot at the floor.
No one bothered to reply.
In that one corner, she never felt as alone as she did.
She just lost her little brother, the boy who has been by her side through everything—her little protege who never let the title son of Zeus get in his head.
Joonhyuk, the savior of the prophecy, is dead.
Beomjae’s eyes softened as Y/N pulled herself up.
“He—Joonhyuk can’t die, guys. The prophecy said he’s the hero, the son of Zeus. He’s the only son of Zeus so—“ Y/N stuttered out.
Beomjae approached the girl with a soothing pat on her shoulders.
“I-I know, I don’t understand either, Y/N,” Beomjae sighed.
“We can’t win the war without him,” Bongjoo mumbled.
“Is there any way to get him back?” Ari sobbed. “I love him—I want him back!”
Y/N whirled around to the grieving girl, fire in her eyes as she snarled.
“Can you stop being selfish for once?!” Y/N growled.
Ari cried harder as she glared at the daughter of Zeus.
“Y/N, that’s enough,” Beomjae mumbled soothingly as he pulled the angry girl away. “I can think of a way,”
“What?”
“Souls have been saved from the Underworld before, through diplomacy and negotiation with Hades,” Beomjae offered.
“Do you think it’ll work?” Ari asked weakly.
“I think so,” Beomjae sighed.
“I think we can pull it off and reason with Hades—after all, it is the war of the gods we’re fighting,” Bongjoo sighed, still comforting Ari.
“Okay, not to be pessimistic—but this is Hades we’re talking about,” Y/N said. “One: we’re not fighting the war of the gods—we’re fighting the war to save Olympus. If you haven’t noticed, Hades is the god that hates Olympus. I doubt he’d care,”
Ari opened her mouth to talk, but Y/N continued her rant.
“Two: This isn’t a Disney cartoon. You can’t just go down and go all Hercules and steal a soul off Styx—Styx doesn’t even have the souls. We won’t know where Joonhyuk is,”
Ari started to cry once more as Beomjae sighed.
“Well, do you have any other solutions?”
Y/N stopped talking, lips pursed as she thought of another loophole.
There wasn’t.
“Well?” Beomjae asked.
Y/N sighed, grabbing her coat from a nearby rack.
“Fine, but I’m going with you,” Y/N said, grumbling under her breath. “If this fails, I told you so,”
Tumblr media
Y/N pulled on the loose threads on her jacket as she groaned.
“I can’t believe this is happening right now,” Y/N hissed.
“Better believe it, we’re here,” Beomjae scolded as he cleared his throat as he looked up at the gigantic door leading to Hades’ castle.
“How exactly do we get in?” Bongjoo asked, flinching as Ari scoffed.
“The faster we get in,” Ari said, stomping forward and pushing the other three demigods out of the way. “The faster I get him back,”
Y/N blinked as Ari pounded on the gigantic wooden door with a scream.
“Hades, let us in!” Ari screamed hysterically. “Let us in!”
Y/N pulled Ari away.
“Calm down—we don’t want to infuriate the god—“
Click!
The four demigods looked over at the wooden doors swung open.
Another wooden door was visible at the end of the hall.
Ari brushed Y/N’s hand off her shoulder to shoot the girl a glare.
“You we’re saying?” Ari hissed as she stomped in the castle with an arrogant pep in her step.
“That’s it—we’re going to die,” Y/N said, smacking her lips as she followed Ari into the hall.
As they neared the second door, it swung open as well—and they were met with a man their age.
He was decked in a black turtleneck and jeans as he slumped on the throat—head propped on his palm as he looked onto the group.
“Hi,” he sighed, straightening up. “What can I do for you?”
His voice was so deep, charming—simply alluring.
There was no reply as the demigods looked at each other.
Y/N stepped forward, clearing her throat as she looked at the boy straight in the eyes.
Very cute boy—with long legs, jet-black hair, bright brown eyes, upturned lips.
“We would like to speak with Lord Hades,” Y/N spoke, voice firm and determined.
The boy smiled, chuckling silently as he tilted his head.
“You are speaking to Hades,” The boy laughed.
Y/N’s eyes widened as she turned back to her companions.
By those words, Ari was gaping, Bongjoo looked confused and Beomjae just looked downright shocked.
“Y-You’re Hades?” Ari asked, holding a hand to her mouth. “I thought you’re like 43? You’re not 43—you’re cute!”
Hades blinked on his throne before looking back down at Y/N, coughing awkwardly.
“I—uh—I look like this usually,” The god muttered as he fidgeted in his throne.
He cleared his throat before smiling once more.
“Anyway, what can I do for you?” He asked.
Y/N was mesmerized as every move of the boy made the diamond jewelry on his body glint in the firelight.
She shook her head as Hades looked at her expectantly.
“My brother—his name is Joonhyuk, son of Zeus. He’s the hero of the prophecy for the current war, but he died,” Y/N spoke.
“Prophecy?” The god asked, furrowing his eyebrows. “Like, the war of Olympus prophecy?”
“Yes,”
The god look taken aback as he opened his mouth.
“Oh, but,” Hades frowned. “he’s dead, and even I can’t dictate what the fates would decide. If he’s dead, he’s dead,”
“He can’t die, my lord,” Beomjae started, stepping up next to Y/N. “He’s our only chance at winning—and you’re our only chance at getting him back,”
Y/N turned back to the god as he only tilted his head.
Beomjae launched into a monologue of explanation.
“Orpheus and Eurydice—you gave Orpheus a chance to get Eurydice back,” Beomjae reasoned.
“I knew he was going to look back,” The god shrugged. “Wouldn’t cost me a soul, so—“
“Please, Hades,” Ari pleaded.
“I don’t get paid for this shit,” Hades sighed, running a hand through his hair and smiling tiredly over at the demigods. “Fine. There is a way,”
“We’ll do it!” Ari said, stepping up. “What is it, my Lord?”
“I need a soul in exchange of Joonhyuk—there needs to be a balance,” Hades sighed. “There are other ways but this is the guaranteed—fastest—way,”
Y/N turned over to her friends, who started to talk amongst themselves.
“Guys? What do we do?”
Ari started to tear up once more, and Bongjoo looked lost.
For the first time, the son of Athena was lost for words as his shoulders slumped.
“I-I don’t know,” Beomjae said silently.
“Look, I’m really sorry,” Hades said, frowning. “But that’s the way—even gods have rules to follow,”
Y/N screwed her eyes shut as she stepped forward more.
“I’ll do it,”
All heads snapped over to her.
As she opened her eyes, her gaze locked with Hades.
“If I do this—there’s a guarantee that Joonhyuk will survive, right?” Y/N asked.
Slowly, the god nodded.
“Yes, you have my word,”
“You swear?”
“I swear on the River Styx,”
There was a strike of thunder, sealing the deal.
Y/N closed her eyes and breathed deeply as she turned back to her friends.
Ari’s tears started pouring out as Beomjae gasped in shock.
“Y/N—“
“Bongjoo—make sure you three make your way up with Joonhyuk, alright?”
The boy nodded sadly.
“Beomjae—You are so smart,” Y/N smiled softly as she patted the younger’s hair. “And with you and Joonhyuk fighting side-by-side, you’ll win this,”
Beomjae only regarded the girl with soft, sad eyes.
“Ari,” Y/N started, taking the girl’s hands. “We may have had our differences—but I know you, and I know you love Joonhyuk. Can you tell him I love him, too?”
Ari sobbed harder as she launched herself on the girl.
When they pulled away, there was a hand that landed on Y/N’s shoulder.
The girl tensed up as she felt Hades’ tall presence behind her.
“I’ll take care of you, don’t worry,” Hades soothed before looking up at her companions. “Joonhyuk will be outside the throne room,”
As the other demigods bid their goodbyes and made their way out, Y/N turned around slowly to look over at the god.
“Lord Hades,” She said softly, bowing.
“No! No, none of that!” The god rushed, burning red as he shook his head fiercely. “And—uh, call me Soobin,”
“Soobin?”
“That’s my name,” The god nodded slowly. “Hades is just the title—but, uh, I’m Soobin,”
“Soobin,” Y/N mumbled, letting his name roll on her tongue before she looked back up at the god—boy—with a frown. “Shall I proceed to the Fields of Asphodel, then?”
“No,” Soobin said, smiling softly as he shook his head once more. “I’ll show you to your room upstairs.”
“Why?”
“Because I feel bad for you, for essentially keeping you here against your will,” Soobin shrugged, walking forward as Y/N followed behind him. “Letting you stay in the castle instead of being lost in the Fields is the least I can do—you technically aren’t dead, anyway.”
“If you really feel bad, you’d let me go back with my friends,”
The boy turned his head back, shooting the girl a sympathetic look.
“I’m really sorry, but you know I can’t do that—it’s either one of you or him. You were the one that wanted to stay,”
“Yeah,” Y/N pursed her lips as she looked out at the window they were passing—catching a quick glimpse of her former companions.
This time, there was another figure—a tall boy with brown hair—following them. Joonhyuk.
“I know,” Y/N sighed sadly as Soobin shot her a sad smile.
“I hope you at least like your room,” Soobin offered as he threw open a set of double-doors. “Take a look,”
Tumblr media
Y/N sat on the couch, uncomfortable as Soobin sat across from her—completely immersed on the novel he held in his hands.
“Big library,” Y/N squeaked out.
Soobin smiled as he set his book down.
“You didn’t have to say yes to accompanying me here if you were that uncomfortable being with me, you know,” Soobin said, eyes amused as he looked over at Y/N.
“No, no, it’s fine. I’m great!” Y/n said, as she reached out to take a random scroll of parchment nearby. “I’m just going to read this parchment!”
Soobin chuckled as he turned back to his book.
Y/N cleared her throat, wincing at her awkwardness as she unrolled her parchment—eyes scanning the words on the paper.
Today, I took a stroll on the beautiful gardens of the Underworld. I particularly loved the Scintilla blossoms and the Gumamelas. Strangely, there was a bush of white roses with golden outlines. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Maybe it was being grown for me?  I feel like he really is in love with me—despite what my family tells me. I do feel more and more endeared to Hades—Soobin. I grow more and more in love.
Persephone.
Y/N blinked as she let her hand run through the parchment.
“Persephone,” She mumbled.
“What was that?” Soobin asked, raising his head once more.
“Oh, nothing,” Y/N shook her head as she passed him the parchment. “Just—uh—read a little something,”
“Ah,” Soobin winced as he glanced at the handwriting. “Persephone.”
“You must really love her to start a whole flower garden for her, huh? And a new type of rose?” Y/N asked, tilting her head. “I want to be loved like that—I mean, minus the kidnapping—No offense.”
Soobin chuckled as he rolled the parchment once more.
“None taken, seeing as I didn’t grow a garden for Persephone, or make a new kind of rose for her,” Soobin shrugged. “or even kidnap her. I did none of those.”
“What?” Y/N blinked.
“Hm, how do I start?” Soobin smiled, adjusting his sitting on the couch. “I saved Persephone. I didn’t kidnap her,”
“But Demeter?”
“Demeter nags. She nags a lot,” Soobin snorted. “But no, I didn’t kidnap Persephone or anything—I never even married Persephone, or wanted to. I didn’t like her like that. I didn’t like anyone,”
Y/N pursed her lips as Soobin fiddled with his thumbs.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as the god narrated his story, laying himself and his history bare in front of the demigod.
“So, if that all didn’t happen—what exactly happened?”
“Well, I saved her—she was in an open field. There was a god rampaging that day, and he saw Persephone. Left alone, who knows what could happen to her?” Soobin shrugged. “She was a sweet kid and I was there anyways, so I figured—sure, why not? She did stay here for a while, I accommodated her though I kept telling her to go back to her mom in Olympus. She didn’t want to. It felt rude to kick her out, so I didn’t,”
“So, what gave Demeter the impression you kidnapped her?”
“I don’t know,” Soobin shrugged. “She just came down here and started calling me a kidnapper. Persephone didn’t defend me or anything,”
“Why did you make Persephone go back and forth, then?”
“Please,” Soobin snorted, smiling at the girl. “That’s not true—notice she’s not here? It’s drought season,”
Y/N nodded slowly, processing the information as Soobin cleared her throat.
“I never made her go back and forth—I never wanted to be with her. I never wanted to marry anyone, really,” Soobin said as he mumbled under his breath. “I don’t even know why I’m telling you this,”
“That’s got to suck—Why?” Y/N smiled sympathetically as she tilted her head.
Soobin cleared his throat as he shrugged.
“I—uh—think Aphrodite hates me? I’ve never loved anyone or had anyone fall in love with me,” He said. “It’s not like I don’t want to, it’s just that I haven’t felt it, so,”
“I don’t understand,” Y/N said—curiously taking the bait to peek into the life of a god. “gods fall in love all the time—you guys literally have sex all the time,”
Soobin laughed.
“Sex, sure—I had it,” Soobin smiled. “But never love. It’s scary—have you seen Orion, Medusa, Helen, Cleopatra?”
“Not all love stories end in tragedy, you know.” Y/N said, frowning as Soobin shrugged.
“My life is a tragedy—I’d be more surprised if my love wouldn’t be,”
As Soobin shot the girl a small smile and returned to his novel, Y/N had an epiphany—Hades was never the villain of the story.
Hades was just a victim of Olympus—thrown away and used as a scapegoat when he was just a kind and gentle creature too shy to defend himself from all the allegations thrown to him by the gods playing protagonist.
Hades—Soobin—was just the misunderstood outcast living under the shadow of Zeus and Poseidon.
It was her next to Joonhyuk—and Beomjae, Ari and Bongjoon.
Maybe, for the first time, she finally found somebody understood how she felt all these years.
It just so happened he was the god of the dead.
Tumblr media
Y/N laughed as Soobin scrunched his nose, grip tight on his fork.
“I’m not the god of death, okay? I’m god of the dead.” Soobin scoffed as he stabbed into a plate of ambrosia. “Death is Thanatos.”
Y/N shook her head as she took a bite of her eggs.
Soobin looked at her with a tilt of the head.
“You know—you’re technically a soul. You can eat ambrosia by the bulk now,” Soobin said, pointing over to the big serving plate of ambrosia in front of him.
“I—um—like the sense of humanity,” Y/N smiled, shaking her head.
Still confused, Soobin nodded.
“So, um, are you busy today?”
Y/N looked up, raising an eyebrow at Soobin.
“I mean I have nothing to do here, so—“
“Right, right,” Soobin said, coughing awkwardly. “I just—have a free day? I was thinking maybe I could show you around the castle.”
Y/N bit her lip, smiling softly.
“Yeah, Okay,” She said with a chuckle. “I’d love that.”
Tumblr media
After breakfast, Y/N found herself taking a stroll at the castle gardens with Soobin by her side.
This time the boy wore a loose, white, collared shirt, black slacks and black dress shoes—the whole ensemble fitting him just right.
His hair was styled delicately—black hair perfectly parted by his forehead.
He looked ethereal.
Y/N shook herself out of her stupor as Soobin bent down to admire the sunflowers growing out of a small patch in the gardens.
Soobin turned to Y/N waving her over, making her smile and press closer to the flowers and to Soobin.
“Sunflowers are actually my favorite,” Soobin confessed as he caressed the petals of the flower. “These are one of the first plants I had growing here. Don’t you think they look pretty?”
Y/N smiled as she reached out to the flowers herself.
“Pretty,” she agreed.
She wondered how these flowers, especially ones that thrived on as much sunlight as it could muster, prospered underground in the world of the dead, but as she looked over to Soobin who smiled fondly at his garden, she realized that she was with someone who could do the impossible.
Soobin looked over at her, chuckling as he stood up.
“What’s your favorite flower?”
“Roses,” Y/N answered without a beat.
A look of recognition flashed in Soobin’s eyes as he dragged her over to another area of the gardens.
“Remember when you read about the white and gold roses that I made?” Soobin smiled, presenting her with a rosebush in full-bloom.
“Oh,” She gasped. “Oh, wow.”
Soobin smiled, letting his hand wander over the bush and pluck a rose off—expertly cutting it off.
“Soobin—the thorns—“
“Here,” he smiled, giving it to the girl.
Y/N blinked as she looked over at the rose—no thorns.
“I—no thorns?”
“Nope,” Soobin smiled as Y/N reluctantly accepted the flower. “Nothing can hurt you here, Y/N, not even a flower—so don’t worry. I got you,”
Y/N smiled as she smelled the flower in her hands.
“It smells nice,” She commented as she looked around, smiling at the gardens. “It’s beautiful—everything is beautiful,”
Soobin smiled, letting his eyes dance on her face as he echoed her words.
“Beautiful,” Soobin said, his hands reaching out to brush Y/N’s hair away from her face. “You’re beautiful.”
Her shocked eyes snapped over to his equally wide ones, but none of them pulled away or made a move to stop the action.
Then, she smiled.
“You’re beautiful, too,”
It was dangerous—what she’s doing— growing fonder and fonder of the boy who swore up and down that was scared of falling in love.
It’s alright.
This feeling was probably nothing, anyways.
Tumblr media
Y/N smiled, leaning on the gates of hell as she chuckled.
Soobin groaned as he rolled his sleeves back to his elbows, wiping the sweat off of his forehead.
This time, the boy wore a loose grey hoodie and kept his hair undone.
He looked so, for a lack of a better word, boyfriend.
Y/N winced—she just called the god of dead so boyfriend.
That was disgusting.
Still, she couldn’t help but observe the male as he picked up a gigantic red ball and tutted at the three-headed dog.
“Cerberus. Here, buddy!” He whistled before throwing the ball up.
The dog—dogs?—yipped as they shot up for the right head take a bite of the ball.
It, then, leaned down to place the slobber-covered ball by Soobin’s feet.
Soobin frowned, looking back at Y/N.
“You know, I still can’t believe you convinced me to play ball with Cerb,” Soobin deadpanned as Y/N walked forward—black skirt trailing behind her as she wrapped her arm around Soobin’s.
“Aw, come on—you’re having fun, I can tell,” Y/N laughed as Soobin sighed, picking the ball back up.
Y/N laughed at the sight—the ball was the size of an extra-large-sized Yoga Ball that almost engulfed Soobin.
“You come here and throw it, then!” Soobin humphed, passing the ball over to the girl.
Y/N yelped as her hands made contact with the slobber-covered ball.
“Soobin—“ She started to whine before she looked up to see Cerberus’ three heads looking down at her with bared tongues and a furiously wagging tail.
“Uh,” Y/N started, stopping short when hands wrapped around hers and a body pressed on her back.
“Okay, just uh—Throw the ball up so he doesn’t crush the spirits coming into the underworld,“ Soobin guided her. “and then—uh—step out of the way so he doesn’t crush you too. It’s not fun,”
Y/N nodded stiffly as Soobin adjusted her grip on the ball, his hands falling down to her waist.
“Okay, and go,”
Y/N threw the ball up.
As Cerberus leaped up to catch the ball, Soobin’s hands gripped her waist and roughly pulled her back and out of Cerberus’ way.
Y/N yelped as she stumbled, falling back.
Soobin groaned as he fell down, Y/N’s weight crushing him.
“I—am so sorry—“ Y/N stuttered, turning around.
Immediately, both of them froze with bright red blushes.
Soobin’s hands rested on her hips as she sat directly on his lap and hovered over him.
Soobin gulped, eyes locked onto Y/N as she burned redder.
“Oh, um—“ Y/N rushed, pulling herself off of Soobin. “Sorry,”
“S’okay,” Soobin smiled softly, a fiery red blush on his cheeks as he gestured over to the chimera. “But—uh, look. Told you you’d get crushed if we didn’t move,”
Indeed, Cerberus was plopped down on the place where they previously stood—middle head happily gnawing on the red ball.
“Oh, that’s uh—great—“
Soobin and Y/N turned away from each other—the latter with a soft smile on her face.
He gets cuter and cuter by the day.
Tumblr media
Soobin chuckled as Y/N propped her elbow on the dining table, staring fondly at the boy.
This time—the god wore a silk black shirt with a collar, then an expensive-looking black blazer over it.
Y/N had to hold her praises back because dear gods, he looked so good.
“So,” Y/N spoke. “Do you want to hang out today—“
Immediately, Soobin frowned sadly and sighed.
“I wish I could, but I have work,” Soobin shrugged sadly. “God of dead things to attend to,”
“Oh,” Y/N said dejectedly, looking back down on her plate.
“I’m really sorry,” Soobin frowned, reaching out to place his hand over hers and running his thumb over the back of her hand.
“No, no—it’s okay! It’s your job, of course you have to go,” Y/N shook her head, before her eyes widened with mischief. “but that doesn’t mean you have to go alone,”
Soobin raised his eyebrows in confusion as Y/N perked up.
“I can go with you—I promise I won’t be a distraction or something!”
“I don’t know,” Soobin said, scratching the back of his head as Y/N gasped.
“Come on, please?” Y/N pleaded, intertwining her hands with his and giving it a gentle squeeze. “It’ll be like take your daughter to work day—except I’m not your daughter and the work is, you know, death,”
Soobin laughed in amusement as he tilted his head at the girl.
“I don’t know, Y/N—You? My daughter?” Soobin snorted. “No, thanks,”
“What—I don’t have the daughter of Hades spunk?” Y/N scoffed in mock offense as she held a hand to her chest. “Frankly, I’m offended,”
“Do pray tell,” Soobin shot back, leaning his head on his free palm as he squeezed their intertwined hands. “Who’d be your mother, then?”
“No idea,” Y/N quipped as she looked up in thought. “Who?”
As he looked over at the girl, Soobin muttered under his breath unknowingly.
“How can I imagine you as my child when I keep seeing you as the mother of mine?” He mumbled.
The statement was not fallen onto deaf ears as Y/N shot her head over to Soobin.
The boy’s eyes were only trained on their intertwined hands.
Y/N chuckled awkwardly, blushing as Soobin realized that she heard him.
“Stop being cute,” Y/N giggled as Soobin burned red.
“Why did I just say that?” Soobin mumbled to himself once more.
“I can still hear you,” Y/N laughed, reaching out and brushing his hair off of his forehead. “I promise I’ll behave,”
Soobin sighed.
“Okay, but just because you asked me to!”
Tumblr media
Hours later, Y/N and Soobin stood in the middle of a barren field with cloudy gray skies.
There were hazy white figures wandering around.
One of Y/N’s hands gripped Soobin’s hand, the other clutching on his sleeve as she looked around.
“What is this?” Y/N asked, eyes confused.
“This is the Hall of Judgement,” Soobin smiled, wrapping his arm around her figure. “Don’t be scared,”
“I’m not scared,” Y/N said, pressing herself closer to Soobin—making the boy smile. “Just, uh, don’t leave me,”
“Okay, follow me,” Soobin laughed as they neared a soul of a female girl in war-gear. “Hello,”
The soul flinched, turning around swiftly with a fierce glare.
“Who’s there?” The spirit demanded before looking at the two. “Wait—Y/N? Daughter of Zeus Y/N?”
“Aris?” Y/N asked, eyes wide as she pulled herself from Soobin. “You’re—“
“Where—You were missing?” Aris gasped.
“Aris, I— you’re in the Underworld,”
“Oh, the Under—Are you dead? Wait, am I dead?”
Y/N’s eyes turned sad as the girl gasped in realization.
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Soobin asked, stepping forward and letting a hand rest on Y/N’s lower back.
Y/N’s hands reached behind her back, clutching his as she smiled at him.
“And you are?” Aris’ challenging tone was back.
“Aris,” Y/N started gently. “This is Lord Hades—the god of the Underworld,”
Aris’ eyes widened as she gasped.
“I-It’s real—“ She said as she observed Soobin. “You’re—I really am dead,”
“I’m sorry, Aris,” Y/N sighed. “But what’s the last thing you remember?”
“Um,” Aris started, voice quivering as she gathered her thoughts. “I was—I was talking to Joonhyuk—“
“Joonhyuk, is he okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, he’s alive,” Aris said. “He, uh, told me he came back to finish the war and save us all,”
Y/N smiled gently as Soobin squeezed her hand.
“Okay,” Y/N said softly, urging Aris on. “So, you were talking to Joonhyuk? Then?”
“Oh, uh, we heard that, um,” Aris’ eyebrows furrowed as she worked hard to remember the details of her dead. “We heard there was a breach in our defenses over at the bridge—Cyclops attack, so I went there. It was a big flock. I led the army and next thing I know—I was on my way here,”
Soobin nodded softly as he leaned in and whispered to Y/N’s ear.
“I have to talk to the judges, would you be okay with her?”
“Yeah, Bin,” Y/N smiled softly as Soobin pulled away. “I’ll be fine,”
The boy shot her and the spirit a small smile before striding over to a large black tent.
“Y/N?” Aris asked, eyes turning confused. “Why did you call Lord Hades ‘Bin’?”
“Oh,” Y/N chuckled, realizing that not everyone was familiar with his real name. “That’s his nickname—he likes being called by his nickname,”
“Ah,” Aris nodded. “Well, are you here to be judged too?”
Y/N smacked her lips before shrugging.
“He told me I didn’t need to—I’m not really dead and I’m staying with him anyways,” Y/N said.
“With him?”
“His castle is so big—there’s so much rooms!”
Aris furrowed her eyebrows as Y/N’s eyes shifted back to the black tent—waiting for Soobin to exit.
“Y/N?” Aris asked, tone grave. “Why aren’t you fighting up there?”
Y/N’s eyebrow raised in confusion.
“What do you mean why am I—“ Y/N gasped in realization. “Do you guys not know—Do you all think I abandoned you?”
“Didn’t you?” Aris blinked in confusion.
“No—of course not!” Y/N shook her head rapidly. “In order to get Joonhyuk out of here and back to life, someone had to stay so the souls were balanced in the Underworld. A life for a life, so I gave up mine—so he can come back and fight for you all,”
“Oh,” Aris nodded slowly. “They—Beomjae, Bongjoo, Ari and Joonhyuk never told us. We figured you just up and left,”
“I-I didn’t,” Y/N’s eyes turned sad.
“Why are you staying with Hades, then?” Aris asked, crossing her arms before she gasped with wide eyes. “Is he—Did he kidnap you like he did Persephone? Is he—“
“No, he’s not like that!” Y/N said, sighing in frustration.
Her eyes wandered back over to the tent as Soobin exited, making a beeline for a nearby flock of child spirits with a smile.
The boy crouched down, eyes soft as he talked gently.
“I love being with him,” Y/N said, eyes soft as Soobin continued to converse with the children—reaching out and ruffling the hair of one. “He’s nice, kind, considerate, charming—“
Soobin looked over at Y/N and smiled, winking before he turned back to the kids with a chuckle.
Immediately, her heart pounded in her chest.
Gods, she was doomed.
Y/N cleared her throat before looking back at the girl.
“I’m happy to be here,”
“But it’s not exactly Olympus—“
“I know, and I’d rather be here with him,” Y/N said softly.
The girl flinched as a figure in a dark cloak approached them.
“Im Aris—Daughter of Ares, you must proceed to the Judgement Pavilion,” The figure spoke in a muffled voice.
“I—This is it,” Aris said softly, eyes downcast as Y/N nodded to her.
“Good luck, Aris,” Y/N mumbled, watching Aris shoot her a small smile as she followed the figure to the tent.
A hand landed on her waist, making her heart stutter as she looked up to see Soobin smile down at her—his figure towering over her.
“Hey,” he greeted as he looked over at Aris’ departing figure. “Good to go?”
“Yep, yeah,” Y/N nodded smiling up at him. “Come on, let’s go home,”
“Actually, let’s go on a walk,”
Tumblr media
Y/N gasped as Soobin pulled her towards River Styx.
“Come on, over here,” Soobin smiled as they walked by the river bank.
As the clear waters of the river flowed gently, a soft haze floated above it.
The haze contained hundreds of different artifacts streaming back and forth.
“I—I thought they said that the Styx was polluted because of the lost hopes and dreams and stuff?” Y/N asked as she marvelled at the sight.
Yeah,” Soobin pointed down at the water. “Some of the dreams fall down,”
Y/N looked down at the water just in time for a broken baseball bat to fall out of the haze and sink into the water.
“Oh,” Y/N winced.
She reached out to intertwine her hands with Soobin.
“I take a walk here sometimes, when I want to think,” Soobin softly smiled as they continued walking. “Seeing all these lost hopes and dreams remind me that I’m actually pretty fortunate to be where I am right now, even if I’m not doing such a good job as the god of the Underworld,”
Y/N frowned, squeezing his hand as she reached out and brushed her hand against the haze.
“Soob, you are doing amazing,” Y/N said smiling softly as her hand grasped on an object in the haze.
Immediately, her vision sparked—showing her a quick memory of a child forced to give up his dreams of being an actor to be a doctor.
“What did you see?” Soobin asked curiously as Y/N pulled her hand out of the haze to find a rusty Oscar Award. “Ah,”
Y/N sighed, releasing the award back to the haze.
“So, you see the memories, huh?”
Soobin nodded, tugging her along as he continued walking.
“When the memory is strong enough,” Soobin shrugged, smiling as Y/N continued to run her hand through the mist.
When her hand gripped on a small square item—she pulled it out.
It was a velvet box.
Soobin looked down at the box, stopping his walk as he opened his mouth and let out a soft ‘oh’.
Immediately, Y/N pried the box open and she was shot into a memory of a girl whose dream was to get married to the love of her life—but she wasn’t able to because he was a soldier that died fighting in a war.
“She said no?” Soobin said as Y/N returned from the memory, her thumb softly caressing the small diamond atop the rusting gold ring.
“He died,” Y/N mumbled softly as she closed the box sadly, returning it to the haze.
“Oh,” Soobin said, eyes downcast. “A lost love,”
Y/N nodded sadly as she looked back up at Soobin, who was silently observing the passing stream of lost hopes and dreams.
She can’t be like that girl with the lost love.
“Bin?”
“Hm?” He looked back down at her with a small smile. “What’s up?”
She’s got to take a chance.
Mustering all her courage, she inhaled softly and locked her gaze with him.
“I love you,” Y/N said firmly before her gaze wavered, looking back down. “Or like—I’m not really sure what love feels, so I can’t say for sure,”
Soobin blinked in confusion as Y/N gulped.
“Anyways,” Y/N nodded. “I like spending time with you, and everytime I look at you or talk to you, my heart just deadass wants to sprint out of my chest,”
Soobin blinked, body tense as Y/N ranted.
“Everytime you to hold my hand, or pull me close or brush my hair, I—I really want to kiss you and I literally just stop myself. It’s at that point where I’m really going crazy and if I don’t knew what you feel in the next hour, I’m going to lose my mind,” Y/N pleaded as she looked back up. “So, please, just say something so I know what to do with myself,”
Soobin only gaped—eyes shifting around speechless.
“Binnie?”
His mouth opened and closed in shock as he stood—unsure what to do.
His eyes flew behind her pulling her closer to his body to avoid the water of the Styx splashing on them as a person—a demigod, from what Soobin felt—stumbled into the Styx.
Y/N’s hands clutched his arms as she heard the pained screams of the demigod falling into the Styx.
When the screams silenced, Y/N softly pulled herself out of Soobin’s grasp.
The boy looked down at Y/N.
“Y/N,” he started softly.
“I should have known,” The girl only smiled softly, nodding.
“Wait, Y/N—“ Soobin said, reaching back to grasp her arm and frowning when it was pulled out of reach.
“No, it’s okay—You have a mess to clean, Lord Hades,” Y/N nodded.
Soobin’s eyes turned sad as he looked back down at the demigod underneath the Styx, running a hand over his face.
“Soobin,” Soobin said, looking over at Y/N. “You call me Soobin, remember?”
“Please don’t make me do something that will make me feel closer to you,” Y/N said, furrowing her eyebrows as she bowed. “I’ll make my way back to the castle, my Lord,”
Soobin can only watch as Y/N walked away from him.
Tumblr media
Soobin sighed in frustration, throwing his head back in exhaustion as Y/N didn’t appear for breakfast with him yet again.
One of the spirits serving him came out, refilling his glass of nectar.
“Where’s Y/N?” He asked softly.
“She ate her breakfast early, my Lord,” the soul replied.
Soobin furrowed his eyebrows as he set his fork down.
“I don’t understand—didn’t you say she ate at this time yesterday?” Soobin asked, growing frustrated.
“Yes, my Lord, but she changes her eating schedule often,” The soul replied, eyes downcast as she bowed in apology.
Soobin calmed himself down, breathing deeply.
“I-I see, I’m sorry, thanks,” Soobin ran down his face as he stood up. “I’m done eating,”
The souls serving him bowed and started to clean up as he left the dining area.
It’s been a week since he last saw any trace of Y/N—much less heard.
He missed her.
He wouldn’t admit it, but Soobin even dressed up today—remembering how Y/N once mentioned she liked it when he wore clothes that made him look more teenaged liked his face and not “a half-dead CEO”.
Soobin sighed, clutching the ends of his black windbreaker as he stopped in front of Y/N’s bedroom door.
He never made his way over to here, no matter how much he wanted to.
He wanted to give her space—she obviously didn’t want to see him.
In truth, he never replied to her because he didn’t know what to say.
He never thought about whether or not he was in love with her to be honest—he just wanted to be with her.
With that thought in mind, he nodded to himself and cleared his throat.
He placed a soft knock on the bedroom door and waited.
There was no answer.
He tried again.
No answer.
He sighed again, running a hand through his hair.
Maybe today’s not a good day.
As he turned to make his way out, his ears heard the distinct barks of Cerberus—along with a laugh that was all-too-familiar to him.
He made his way over to the nearby window, looking down to see Y/N laugh as she played with Cerberus.
With a smile, he made his way down—leaning at the door as he watched Y/N pat one of Cerberus’ heads as the other snuggled her and the last one chewed on their ball.
Y/N hummed as she scratched the back of the dog head’s ear.
“I do, I do like Soobin,” The girl ranted. “But like, I’m stupid, you know? He’s a god—a cute god, which is way worse,”
Y/N sighed as the dog tilted its right head.
“Like, he told me he’s never even fallen in love before—at all—so what makes me think I’m better than Persephone, right?” Y/N snorted. “Like I’m in way over my head. Persephone—really?”
Soobin pursed his lips, exhaling slowly as Y/N frowned to herself.
“I mean if he didn’t fall in love with Persephone—fat chance of falling in love with me, right?” Y/N cooed as Cerberus’ right head barked. “You didn’t have to agree,”
“Y/N,” Soobin said, walking forward.
Y/N flinched, wincing as she turned over to Soobin.
“You didn’t hear all of that, right?” Y/N said, clutching the skirt of her dress.
Her hair was down in pretty curls—she was dressed in a long, flowy, white dress.
Soobin only smiled softly as he looked over at her.
She looked beautiful.
“Can we talk?”
At Y/N soft nod, he turned back to lead her to the gardens—smiling softly at her soft cursing.
As soon as they stopped by the rose bush, Y/N sighed.
“You know, this is the part where you break up with me,” Y/N said, her hands tracing the gold outlines of the petal of a nearby rose. “but since we’re like, not dating or involved in any way at all, I’m assuming this means your’e kicking me out of the castle to the Fields of Asphodel—or the Hall of Judgement or something,”
Y/N bit her lip as she looked over to Soobin, who only put his hands in his pockets with a smile.
God, she hated that he looked so good even when he was booting her out.
“If that’s the case, can I like change into comfier clothes before you cast me into eternal damnation or something?” Y/N asked, chuckling nervously.
Her nervous smile fell as Soobin soflty shook his head.
Y/N sighed, screwing her eyes shut as she fiddled with her thumbs.
“I messed up, didn’t I?” Y/N said, scratching the back of her neck.
She looked back up at the god, who only smiled wider.
She hated how her heart still pounded at the fact that he was smiling at her.
Y/N cleared her throat as she nodded.
“Well then, I’ll—uh—escort myself to the Fields. I know the way,” Y/N said with a deep breath. “Uh, thank you—for taking care of me even for a short while. Sorry I screwed things up,”
She turned to leave, biting her lip as she felt tears spring up to her eyes.
She swallowed down the lump in her throat as she turned back to Soobin.
“Uh, since I’m here, I just—I wanna tell you that I’m angry at myself for falling in love with you, but there’s not a thing that I regret from that,” Y/N said, sighing as she smiled over at him and tried her best to hold her tears at bay.
Soobin’s eyebrows furrowed slightly.
“I’m not going to lie—I still love you. I think even more than i did when I told you the first time, and I’m grateful to have spent all these moments with you and for having met the man behind ‘Hades, the god of the dead’ title,” Y/N continued, gathering her thoughts as she fiddled with her thumbs. “And, um, Olympus is missing out of you, because you’re so perfect!”
Soobin’s smiled, eyebrows raising in surprise.
“And, I hope whatever you do or get up to in the future—you’d be okay, and happy,” Y/N said, nodding her head. “Because, the thought of you being sad makes me sad—though, obviously you wouldn’t care about that,”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as her mind snapped into attention at Soobin’s lack of response.
She nodded to herself, pursing her lips.
“Yeah, okay, I’m saying too much,” She turned abruptly. “I’m gonna go now,”
As she took a step forward, a hand grasped onto her wrist to pull her back.
She stumbled, letting her body follow as she was turned around.
Before she could say or do anything, she felt his soft lips crash on hers.
As soon as she felt him clutch her waist, Y/N swore she fell in love with him all over again.
Her heart skipped a beat as she let her hands reach up to run through his hair, eyes falling closed as she melted into him.
It was like the world could melt and break down all around her, but all that would matter to her was Soobin’s lips on hers.
Soobin smiled as he pulled away, leaning his forehead on hers with a soft chuckle.
Y/N blinked—stuck in a daze.
“Wha—“ Y/N started, looking up at him. “What was that?”
Soobin laughed, leaning back in and brushing his nose with hers.
“I love you too, genius,”
“Oh,” Y/N’s eyes widened as Soobin brushed her hair away from her face. “Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed we spent a whole week skirting around each other—that was so much wasted time,”
Y/N’s eyes softened as she sighed, brushing her lips on his and wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I’m sorry,”
“It’s okay,” Soobin smiled. “We have all the time in the world to just—stay here,”
“Here?”
“Here with you,” Soobin nodded. “When I’m with you I feel nothing—I’m not the Lord of the dead, or Hades, or some weird godly outcast. I’m just Soobin. I feel nothing but you,”
Y/N breathed deeply, closing her eyes.
“You know,” she started. “When I told you I loved you I really wasn’t expecting you to love me back, so if you’re just forcing yourself to love me back then I—“
“I’m not,” Soobin said, shaking his head as he let his hands fall down to grip her waist again. “Look at me, Y/N,”
The girl opened her eyes, frowning as she locked gazes with Soobin.
“I’m not forcing myself to love you because it’s not hard to fall in love with you, okay? And I really do feel so lucky because you chose to fall in love with me,” Soobin said, hand softly lifting her chin and lips softly placing a peck on hers. “You are extra-ordinary, and I can’t believe you fell in love with me even if you’re stuck here like some prisoner—“
“Soobin, I don’t feel trapped here,” Y/N smiled, hands reaching up to cup his face. “Not when I’m with you,”
Soobin smiled happily, chuckling as he leaned back down to press another kiss on Y/N’s lips.
Tumblr media
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as a group of Empousa stood in the throne room in front them.
Soobin, sitting on his throne next to her, rubbed his forehead in stress as the Empousai listed their demands.
He reached out, grabbing Y/N hands and setting it on his lap—squeezing it to relieve his stress as he looked back up at the Empousai.
“You know you’re in Tartarus for a reason, right?” Soobin said with a sigh.
The leader of the Empousai scoffed.
“We believe we are misjudged,” the empousa sniffed. “we demand that all empousa be taken out of Tartarus—immediately,”
Soobin groaned, head falling back on his throat as he grumbled.
“Baby, my head hurts,” he whispered over to Y/N.
The girl shot him a sympathetic smile—squeezing his hand as she turned to the Empousai.
“You’ve killed demigods, correct?”
“For a good cause!”
“No,” Y/N shook her head as Soobin looked over at her. “You killed them to take over the world—That’s called ill-intent. No matter how you spin this narrative, it’s called murder,”
“No, we are doing it for the greater good—Olympus knows nothing!”
Soobin blinked in wonder as Y/N’s gaze turned fierce, standing up and sauntering over to the unruly monster.
“As far as I’m concerned, you’re dead. If I were you, I’d go back to Tartarus, accept I’m a monster, take my punishment, and do better when I’m reborn,” Y/N hissed at the Empousai before turning around and walking back over to Soobin. “Take these demons back to where they belong,”
At Soobin’s affirmative nod, the spirits dragged the Empousai back to Tartarus—nothing but their shrill screams to signify they were ever there.
“That was something,” Soobin blinked over at Y/N as she chuckled, sitting in his lap and kissing his lips.
“You know I never butt in, but I’ve seen how stressed out you were these past few weeks over them—I had to do something,” Y/N smiled as she leaned her head on his shoulder. “Besides, they’re like the bratty cheerleaders that were mean to be in middle school. Sweet revenge,”
Soobin chuckled, laying a soft kiss on her temple.
Y/N pulled away and smiled at Soobin as he caressed her cheeks—eyes soft as he gazed at the girl.
“What?” Y/N asked. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Like what?”
“Like you had a mind-blowing realization about me,” Y/N narrowed her eyes.
“Because I did?”
“What?”
“I want to marry you,” Soobin quipped, smile widening at her shocked expression. “Surprised?”
Y/N blinked before scoffing, punching his arm.
“Stop making fun of me,”
“I’m not kidding,” Soobin laughed, letting his hands run through her hair and his forehead attach to hers. “I’ve been thinking it over for weeks—I want to marry you,”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as she clambered off of Soobin, crossing her arms.
“Bin—Getting married is serious, okay? You’re a god—you can’t just marry whoever you want,” Y/N said. “Your wife is going to be queen of the Underworld,”
“Don’t you want to?”
Y/N’s head snapped up to Soobin, who also stood up and walked over to her—hands buried in his pockets as he tilted his head at her.
“Don’t want to what?” Y/N asked.
“Get married,”
“With you? It’s a god damn dream come true,” Y/N chuckled as Soobin smiled, taking her hand. “But I’m not fit to be the queen,”
“Yeah, you are,” Soobin snorted. “with how you handled those Empousai? I’d say you’re perfect already,”
“Binnie, you’re just saying that,” Y/N rolled her eyes as Soobin shook his head.
“You’re already perfect, Y/N,” Soobin said, smiling as he pulled a ring out of his pocket and fell down to his knees.
Y/N blinked in surprise—not even a sound or a peep or any movement from her as her eyes followed Soobin.
“I was supposed to plan this whole thing in the gardens, propose to you the greek way by tossing you an apple and then do it the modern way with romantic lights and a ring and everything—but I couldn’t wait,” Soobin shook his head, taking her hand and squeezing it. “Please, marry me,”
Y/N pressed her hands to her mouth as she gasped.
“I’d be the king and you’d be the queen—and we’d be so in love and we’ll have a lot of godly kids,” Soobin chuckled as Y/N laughed, tears welling up in her eyes. “and we’ll run Underworld—just you and me together, like it’ll always be,”
Y/N bit her lip, holding back her smile as she cleared her throat.
“Are you sure you want this?”
“More than anything in the world,”
“Then, yes.”
Soobin smiled, an emotional laugh bubbling out of his lips as he slipped the ring excitedly on her finger.
Y/N smiled as she marvelled at it, Soobin standing up and pulling her close to him.
“I’m going to marry you,”
Y/N giggled, leaning forward and placing a deep kiss on his lips.
Soobin laughed through the kiss, hands desperately clutching on her hips as he pulled away.
“My queen,” he whispered against her lips.
Tumblr media
Three months later, Y/N and Soobin giggled amongst themselves as they talked about everything and nothing.
Their hands were intertwined, Y/N’s diamond ring glinting in the firelight as the book Soobin was reading was thrown haphazardly at the side.
“What’s the first thing you’ll do when we get married?”
“Consummate it,” Soobin snorted, bursting out with laughter as Y/N slammed a hand down his chest.
“We already did, doofus!”
“Well, we can do it again,” Soobin said, wiggling his eyebrows. “Wanna try tonight?”
“You are insane—“
The couple was interrupted as loud knocks sounded on the door.
“Come in,”
“Lord Hades, my lady,” The spirit stuttered as it bowed. “An iris message appeared at the throne room,”
Y/N rose up slowly, furrowing her eyebrows at the spirit.
“An iris message? Throne room?”
Soobin stood up, frowning as he followed the woman down to the said room—gaping at the rainbow in the middle of the room.
“Oh, wow, it’s been a long time since I saw one of these in the throne room,” Soobin commented as he neared the message.
“It happens?”
“Yeah,” Soobin shrugged. “Last time it happened was Hercules, I think,”
“That’s amazing,” Y/N smiled as she peered into the rainbow.
She gasped as the face of a tall figure manifested—features all-too-familiar.
“Joonhyuk?”
“Y/N!” Joonhyuk screamed as he slammed his hands on the desk in front of him in relief. “Are you okay?”
“I’m good,” Y/N furrowed her eyebrows. “How—It’s been months, why are you only calling me now?”
“The war isn’t over yet, Y/N,”
“It’s not?”
Beomjae popped up next to Y/N with a worried face.
“Y/N, we cracked the prophecy,” He said. “You have to get up here,”
Soobin walked over, a soft frown on his face as his hand rested on Y/N’s waist.
Y/N looked up at him, frowning.
“I can’t. I have to stay with Soobin—Hades, I mean,” Y/N shook her head. “I exchanged my soul for yours, remember?”
Joonhyuk’s eyes turned worried as he glanced at the boy next to Y/N, hand tightly wrapped around her torso as he frowned.
Y/N reached up, softly cupping his hand and squeezing it.
“Is that Hades?” Another voice asked from the iris message.
Y/N paid no mind as she turned, looking over at Soobin.
“Bin—“
“I sort of knew it,” Soobin whispered as he pressed a kiss on her forehead. “I just wish it wasn’t this soon,”
“Baby,” Y/N said, pulling away and cupping his hands. “what are you talking about?”
Soobin only sighed as Joonhyuk and Beomjae gaped, Ari appearing next to them equally as shocked.
“Baby?” Ari asked in surprise.
“You and Hades?” Beomjae asked as Joonhyuk sighed, shaking his head.
“There’s no time—Y/N you have to leave him. You’re the only one that can save us,” Joonhyuk said. “Go now,”
Beomjae turned to Joonhyuk with worried eyes.
“Why me?”
“It’s what the prophecy said,” Joonhyuk said in frustration. “and there’s a magic barrier around the chains—no one can break it but you, just like the prophecy said. So, come here now,”
“Why?”
“If you break it the gods can wake up to save us—why do you have so many questions?” Joonhyuk said, eyes leaking tears as he almost cried in exhaustion. “Y/N, please. This is our one shot,”
Y/N bit her lip as she turned back to Soobin, burying her head on his chest.
“No,”
Soobin’s eyes widened as he looked down at the girl.
“What?”
“Y/N!” Joonhyuk called, but the girl only waved her hand through the message to disconnect the call.
There was a moment of silence, before one of them moved.
Soobin’s heart panged as she felt Y/N’s shoulders shake with sobs against him.
“Baby,” Soobin sighed, gently pushing her away and wiping her tears. “I think you know what has to happen,”
Y/N shook her head.
“No,” She whispered. “I don’t want to,”
“Babe,”
“I’m not going, Soobin,” she said, body shaking as she sobbed even harder.
Soobin sighed, smiling sadly as he let his eyes take her in.
“You know,” Soobin said, brushing hair away from her face. “I was fixing our wedding already,”
Y/N looked up at him, tear-stained eyes drinking him in for all it’s worth.
“Bin,”
The boy bit his lip as he squeezed her hands softly.
Y/N closed her eyes as tears start to silently roll out of Soobin’s eyes.
“I was dreaming that we’d get married soon, and then I’d be the king, and you would be the queen—the most beautiful goddess queen to ever exist,” Soobin said, holding back the quivering of his voice as he cleared his throat. “We’d have a lot of children playing around, and it’s just you and me for eternity,”
Y/N opened her eyes cupping his face.
“Soobin, Soobin, look at me,” she mumbled as she lined her gaze with his. “There has to be another way,”
“It’s the prophecy—there’s no other way,” Soobin shook his head, tears now free-flowing. “It has to be you,”
Y/N cursed, leaning her forehead on his.
“I—I can just not do it,” Y/N said. “You won’t get affected, you’re not in Olympus. We can just stay here, they don’t deserve to be saved,”
Soobin sighed.
“Baby,”
“They pushed you away, Bin,” Y/N said, cupping his face. “They made you an outcast, they made everyone think you’re evil—“
“Y/N, they’re my family and yours,” Soobin said, eyes pained as he breathed. “Baby, you have to go,”
Y/N’s eyes shook as her lower lip quivered.
“B-But I love you,”
“I know,” Soobin said, smiling as he cried. “And I love you too—but you know you have to go,”
Y/N nodded her head, as she sobbed.
“Soobin,” Y/N started. “I love you—more than anyone else I’ve ever loved before, more than anything I’ve ever loved my whole life,”
Soobin smiled, leaning forward and pressing a harsh kiss on her lips.
Tears flowed out of both of their eyes as their hands intertwined.
Slowly, Soobin pulled away with a smile.
“When you die, I’ll be there—for you,” Soobin said, nodding to himself. “I’m going to pick you up myself, and if you still want me, we’re finally going to get married. You’re going to wear a beautiful white wedding dress. You’re finally going to be the queen and we’re going to fall in love all over again—and we’re going to have a lot of kids and we’re gonna run the underworld together, okay?”
Y/N bit her lip, nodding.
“Okay,” she said, caressing his cheek. “Wait for me,”
“I will—no matter how long it takes,” Soobin said, pressing another desperate kiss on her lips as he pulled away. “Remember that I will always love you. Now go, and don’t look back,”
Y/N let herself look at him one last time before turning her back.
Not even when she heard him collapse to the floor, sobbing.
Tumblr media
With tear streaks on her face, Y/N found herself stumbling into the tall building and into the elevator to the top floor.
Y/N bit her lip as she held back her tears, hands clutching her torso as she cried.
As soon as the elevator doors ring open, she faced Beomjae, Joonhyuck, Bongjoo and Ari at near the entrance to the border—surprised to see her.
“Y/N,” Joonhyuk started.
Y/N promptly ignored her as she marched forward, past the barrier and turning the key shoved inside the chain.
There was a bright shimmer as the chains dissolved.
Seconds later, there was the large crack of thunder.
After a few minutes, the entrance to Olympus opened—Y/N being met with her own father.
“Joonhyuk,” Zeus boomed as he neared his son. “you have saved us all. The war has finished,”
Immediately, Y/N broke to a loud sob—falling into a heap on the floor as she clutched her stomach.
“There, there, daughter,” Zeus soothed. “I know it’s been hard, but the way is over—we can celebrate!”
Y/N didn’t reply, crying harder as her hands tightened on her stomach.
Hera observed the girl sadly.
“This war is not without casualty,” Hera commented. “I can feel the grief of a mother who lost her child,”
At those words, Y/N cried harder as she curled up.
“Take me back,” Y/N mumbled. “Bring it back,”
“She’s—“ Joonhyuk said, eyes widening in horror as Y/N grieved.
“Yes, why would you think she broke through the barrier, child?” Hera explained. “Only a god could—a god like her child, who gave up it’s spirit and godly essence to his mother to save you all,”
“We killed a baby,” Ari gasped, sitting next to Y/N. “Your baby with Hades—I’m sorry,”
“Is she a goddess?” Joonhyuk asked, eyes trained on his sister.
“Not yet,” Hera hummed. “but she is promised,”
Joonhyuk frowned, looking over at Hera—eyes burning in recognition.
“Epirus—“ Beomjae gasped as he reached the same conclusion as Joonhyuk. “This is the Phyrric War all over again,”
“King Phyrrus of Epirus—the man who sacrificed too much to win,” Hera nodded grimly. “Your sister sacrificed everything to win this war—her love, her happiness, her husband and her child. Congratulations on your win, boys,”
Hera nodded at the two as he neared Ari and Y/N, laying a soothing hand on her shoulder as Artemis and Aphrodite approached the grieving girl.
Joonhyuk’s sad eyes locked onto his sister.
A win at much too high a cost.
Tumblr media
70 years later, a bed-ridden 90 year-old Y/N lay in bed—eyes trained on her great-grand daughter with a smile.
“Grandma!” The kid bounced as she held up her book.
Y/N sighed softly as the kid clambered up the bed.
This child looked so much like Ari.
Y/N smiled fondly at the memory of the late daughter of Aphrodite.
Right after the war—Ari never left her side, having found out about her and Soobin.
The girl was obsessed with her tragic love.
While Y/N never married or fell in love with someone else ever again, she was happy to have witnessed Ari and Joonhyuk grow as a couple—and soon, parents to a healthy baby boy—Donghwa.
That boy grew up to have a daughter—Bongsoo, named after Ari’s other best friend and Donghwa’s uncle, Bongjoo.
Said daughter bounced her way into her grandma-aunt’s frail arms.
“Bongsoo,” Jiyong, Donghwan’s wife, chastised the kid. “I told you to be careful around grandma,”
“Grandma, I’ve been reading!” The kid exclaimed—waving her book. “It’s about Hades,”
At the mention of the god, Y/N perked up—eyes softening with love as she turned over to the girl.
“What about him?”
The kid made a fart noise, crossing her arms.
“He sucks—he kidnapped Persephone,” The kid said.
By the doorway, Donghwa arrived to watch with a sad smile—having known of his aunt’s story with Hades.
“Bongsoo,” Donghwa said softly. “Don’t say that,”
“But he did!” Bongsoo argued.
Y/N tutted her tongue as she softly patted the area beside her.
“Let me tell you about Hades, a good man and a good god who never kidnapped Persephone and was never in love with Persephone,” Y/N said as Bongsoo settled on the spot next to her.
“But, grandma, the book said so!”
“Let me tell you the real story,” Y/N smiled softly as Jiyong wrapped her hand around Donghwon, listening in.
“Once, there was a big, big war. There was a boy that wanted to finish it, but then he died. So, his friends and his sister went down to the Underworld, but Hades said that he can’t come back to life,” Y/N started.
“But why?”
“Because there are rules, little one,” Y/N smiled, poking the girl’s nose. “There has to be a soul that stays to make sure that there was balance in the world, so the hero’s sister stayed with Hades instead so the hero can go save the world!”
“Wow,” The child gaped.
“At first she was scared of him, but then he was so kind and gentle—she fell in love with him and he fell in love with her. Soon, she was going to be married with her and she was going to have a baby,” Y/N narrated, straight from her memory as the thought of Soobin and her lost child resurfaced in her frail, fragile heart.
“Then what happened?”
“Well, Bongsoo, one day the girl found out that she had to leave him because she needed to save the world too. Her baby died while saving the world. Until now, she still thinks about him—and she always wishes that Hades thinks about her too because she loves him so much,”
“Oh,” Bongsoo pouted. “Is the girl still alive?”
“No,”
“Do you know her grandma?”
“Yes,”
Donghwa smiled in sadness as his aunt’s eyes sparkled.
“Grandma, you do?” Bongsoo gasped. “Can you tell her that I’m sorry for judging Hades, and I hope she gets her happy ending, and get married to Hades soon,”
“Of course,” Y/N smiled softly as she urged the child to her mother. “she says to go eat some dinner,”
“Okay!” Bongsoo squealed as she made her way out of the room followed by her mother, leaving Donghwa.
“Auntie,” Donghwa started as he walked over. “You didn’t have to do all that,”
“You know how much I’d defend him—of course, I had to,” Y/N hummed, closing her eyes.
“Alright, well, I’ll go get dinner,” The man sighed, kissing her forehead. “I’ll be back to feed you afterwards,”
Y/N didn’t reply, turning sleepier and sleepier as Donghwa left.
She closed her eyes.
——
It feels weird.
For once, Y/N felt no pain in any part of her body as she shot up abruptly.
No pain in her back, head, feet, waist—nothing.
Y/N lifted her hands in wonder to gasp as the diamond ring on her finger—Soobin’s ring—glistened under the florescent lights.
Another detail she also noticed was the lack of wrinkles on her hand—just like it used to when she was young.
When she was—
Y/N stumbled over to the vanity, gasping and grasping her face as she only saw a hazy figure on the mirror.
It was her—she was almost transparent to the fact that she almost looked like mist.
She then realized she was wearing something too puffy—this wasn’t her regular pajamas.
No, she was wearing a white ballgown with diamonds encrusted at the bodice—a wedding gown.
Her hair was styled neatly, a ring of her favorite white and gold roses from Soobin’s garden embedded with beautiful jewels sat on top of her head.
Even her shoes were jewel-encrusted—the platform heels felt so light, yet she can see the diamonds glinting at the straps and the heels.
Y/N turned, gasping as she saw a body on the bed—her dead, 90 year-old body.
She was dead—she was dead, and wearing a wedding gown.
She felt expensive, regal.
Like a queen.
Picking up her dress as she realized it, Y/N bolted out of her room—stopping short at the dining table to smile at her blissfully unaware family as they dined.
They’ll be alright.
Y/N smiled as she nodded to herself, continuing her way out of the house.
She saved the world—it was finally her time to be happy.
As soon as she stumbled onto the front porch, her eyes trailed over to a tall figure wearing a tuxedo at the end of the driveway.
The man was tall—too tall for his own good as he clumsily rocked back and forth on his heels.
His black hair gently swept around with the summer breeze as he fawned over the rose bush that Jiyong carefully tended to.
Y/N walked over slowly, heart pumping fast as she smiled delicately.
She drank in the first sight of him she’s seen in 70 years.
“I didn’t know Thanatos wore tuxedos now,” Y/N hummed.
The figure only tensed slightly, before there was a familiar laugh.
He turned around, brown eyes softly landing on her as he shot her a smile.
“Nope, but I’ll tell him it’s a good look,” Soobin said, eyes raking down at her figure with a soft smile. “You look beautiful,”
Y/N laughed, tears pouring out of her eyes as she reached out to kiss him—tears pouring out of her eyes as they shared their first kiss in seven decades.
The first kiss for the eternity to come.
Soobin’s hands ran through her hair as he kissed her back, a smile permanently etched in his lips as he pulled away.
“I’m never letting you go again,”
“I’m never, ever, going to go away,” Y/N said, smiling happily.
Her smile dropped as Soobin’s hand trailed lightly over her stomach.
She smiled sadly, hands reaching down to bring his hand to her lips.
“Let’s go,” Y/N said, smiling as she tugged him lightly to place a soft peck on his lips. “I believe we have a wedding to get to,”
Soobin smiled, laughing as he nodded.
“Okay,”
Finally, he got his happy ending.

Dark Leo -Dark  seven au part2
@reading0mens Hope you enjoy it, I put a bit under read more because it’s kinda long XD
Leo‘s world is shattered after Jason‘s death
He knows it was a storm or fire
He knows that his cheating death caused the fates to take Jason away
At Jason‘s funereal he cries into Piper‘s shoulder
The boy that told him he was important, that made him believe he was worth something was gone
His sorrow makes him burst into flames and as Piper lets go he sinks over his friends grave
Things only got worse from there
He can‘t look at Calypso anymore
She was the reason he cheated death after all
He thinks about how she always complains about him, never truly helped him as Jason did
He goes back to Camp half-blood not caring that there is a battle coming for the Romans
He couldn‘t help them anyway
He locks himself in Bunker 9 building machines to distract himself from the cruel reality
Jason Grace was dead and he was alive
Calypso tries to get through to him but he yells at her that he regrets having saved her
He doesn‘t mean because of her of course but it is still her that he cheated death for
Calypso leaves in tears
Leo continues building and as his hands work on inventions his mind goes to Hera
Why didn‘t she save Jason?
He was her hero, wasn‘t he?
The bridge between greeks and Romans
So what kept her from saving him?
Anger begins to rage in him
Maybe Jason was just a tool for her
A weapon she could use and then forget
A scream breaks out of him and flames start floating over everything
He begins to despise the queen of Olympus just like he once hated Gea
At least Gea never acted like she wanted to protect them
He feels a desire to make Hera pay, to play with her just like she did with him
He knows that he can't take revenge on Hera all by himself Isn't there an emperor in new york
A plan starts to form in his head
Nyssa brings him the news
Camp Jupiter beat Caligula and Commodus now only Nero is left
The only change for Leo to take revenge on Hera
He leaves in the early morning
He is not nervous only strangely excited
Finding the emperor was not hard he could oversee the whole city on his metal dragon
„What do you want demigod?“, Nero asks coldly sitting on his throne arrogant as always
Leo only smiles darkly „I want to treat Hera just like she treated me and my friends.“
Nero has picked up many demigods from the streets but this one is special
He has an almost feral look in his eyes like he would be ready to burn the world
„And how exactly do plan to do that? Nero asks his voice full of curiosity
After hearing the plan Nero allows Leo to stay
He has a big room full of machines, engines automatons
Leo loves it
He builds robots small ones at first but his anger makes his talents grow
Somehow he manages to equip them with laser eyes ten arms that shoot fire canons, their fingers made of blades
He makes other inventions to ones that he prays to one day use on a certain goddess
A part of him is terrified of his work but another screams justice for Jason so he continues
Two weeks later Leo gives Hazel and Frank a surprise visit
They are happy to see him, they are his friends after all
Leo laughs with them, jokes as if everything was normal
One night he and Frank even mourn Jason together
When he feels real tears form in his eyes he is grateful for Franks hug
He can tell that Frank wants him to feel loved just like Jason once did
He is thankful and when Frank leaves his firewood feels heavy in Leo‘s hand
The next day horns are blowing, demigods scream in terror
A huge robot army is threatening to enter new Rome
The Legion is horrified but they swore to protect the city so they get ready for battle
None of them is showing their fear when they stand between the robots and their city
Reyna and Frank stand before their cohorts but Frank is not too worried
Those robots are made of metal and he sees in Hazel‘s smile that she knows this too
The daughter of Pluto raises her hand to save those she loves
But then a voice close to her speaks up coldly
„Hazel stop “, She almost did not recognize it
Leo stands a few feet away eyes gleaming darkly, Franks stick lays in his hand
Franks feels a cold dread in his stomach
„Leo…...what are you doing? Frank asks unable to hide his fear
Leo lets out a pained humourless laugh, I‘m destroying the god's ego by crashing their glorious temples.“ he explains and Hazel feels her heartbreak at his words
How is this the same boy who made her smile with his jokes
Reyna curses“ How dare you betray us? After Jason-“
Leo interrupts her with a mad shout
„That's exactly my point! Jason died because Hera for some reason refused to save him. We are all just puppets for the gods don‘t you see that!“I'm trying to save us from them but if you don‘t surrender now I will be forced to let you suffer for the god's crimes.“, Leo explains his tone almost hysteric
There is silence for a moment
The robots stand like dead status, new Rome's citizens glance towards them from behind the barrier, the roman soldiers are glaring at Leo
„Romans don‘t surrender.“, Frank finally responds his voice brave, his eyes full of pain
Leo smirks like he expected that answer
His whole body bursts into flame
Frank falls to the ground as his stick is swallowed by fire
Pain ignites in his heart, he hears Hazel‘s scream
He looks at his girlfriend a hand stretched towards her as if to hold her one last time
She stretches her hand towards him as well, her mouth moving as she sobs
A weak scream leaves his lips when a Robots blade impales her neck the blade coming out bloody at her throat
Her hand sinks, her body collapses into a puddle of her blood and Frank‘s world goes black
Leo stares at their unmoving bodies
The stick in his hands is now only ashes
He knows he should feel something
He should feel remorse
Instead, he just feels empty
The gods could have saved them but they didn‘t
If the gods would just be better he would not have done this
The gods are to blame not him
So he joins the massager
The demigods are fighting bravely but nothing prepared them to fight eight feet high machines
Blades are piercing through their bodies, the fire burns their flesh, dozens get trampled
Leo is in the middle of it all shooting fireballs burning everyone who gets too close
A fireball hits Reyna‘s hair and the Praetor is doomed to a firey cruel death
Soon the city falls, Terminus  barrier is not strong enough to hold the metal beasts off
New Romes citizens are slaughtered in their streets, their buildings, temples destroyed
Their screams ring in Leo‘s ears but he continues to fight
This is for Jason. This is for Jason
He keeps using this excuse even though a part of him tells him that Jason wouldn‘t have wanted this
When Leo the last screams finally have died new Rome is in ruins
On Olympus, the gods are raging
Their pride has never been attacked like this
Hera looks at Leo wandering through the dead city with worry
He was her hero once just like Jason but now he seems …..changed
Maybe somehow she could convince him to come back to her
She is his grandmother after all
So she goes down to him in the form of his old babysitter
Leo growls when he sees he sees her
„Now you decide to show up? After I slaughtered thousands of People? Wow you are a horrible patron goddess!“, He snarls
Hera looks at him in pity
„Leo I know you are angry but this is madness. Jasons death was in the hand of the fates and I couldn‘t do anything sometimes even we gods are powerless. Don‘t go down this road my hero it will only bring you to suffering.“ Hera warns but that only makes Leo more furious.
They are standing in the smouldering ruins of her city and yet all she can do is makeup excuses
„You ……..you are so arrogant Hera! First, you act like my protector, my babysitter for years and then you don‘t even save my mother, then you give me fake memories about my best friend and then when I‘m finally growing closer to him you watch him die too. I bet if I hadn‘t killed Frank today you would have done it! Jason Frank and I were just pawns whose lives you controlled and that you now don‘t need anymore!“, Leo yells his hands balled into fists.
Hera listens to her face showing guilty embarrassment
She is too lost in thought, that is why she sees the net that Leo throws over her too late
The strings are made of celestial bronze but when she tries to escape the net only grows tighter cutting into her skin
Leo smiles at her in amusement.
„I hope you enjoy your new home your high majesty., He mocks
Hera realized that this was all part of his plan
Destroying new Rome to get her attention, louring her here so he could capture her
„Let me go immediately demigod or my wrath-“. She is cut off when Leo gags her
He has enough to listen of listening to her
He just wants to visit Jason's grave one last time
Leo returns to Nero with his army and with Hera
She is carried by one of the Robots trapped in metal strings
Nero welcome Leo with open arms
This child is a blessing even better than Meg Mc Caffrey
He tells Leo that he wants to wait with his attack on the greeks
He wants the news about camp Jupiter to reach them first
Leo agrees and grins at Hera
The goddess tries to change from even her real one but the strings only golden
„They drain your godly essence. The emperors are no strangers to dark magic Hera. You won‘t get out of here unless I allow it.“, Leo mocks once he has taken her to his room
The image of Her lying helpless and restrained on the ground gives him chills of joy
He picks out a knife from his toolbelt, Heras's eyes widen
„Now let's see how you like being hurt without someone there to help.“ Leo muses and drives the blade into the goddess's arm.
He smiles at the golden blood and Heras agonized groan
He is going to have so much fun with her
Leo almost feels disappointed when Nero tells him that it‘s time for the attack
By now all demigods know what happened
Chiron evacuated Camp half-blood taking the younger Campers to safety
Nero knows it‘s only a matter of time until the rest disappears to
So Leo and the emperor fly to  Long island alone with Festus who hold Hera in his claws
The robots are deactivated until Leo's command, Nero wants to give his enemies hope of winning
A handful of Campers is already waiting for them at the top of Half-blood hill
Leo winces when he sees Percy and Nico
He had forgotten the people close to Frank and Hazel
„Surrender or face the same end as your roman friends!“, Nero demands
Percy spits to the ground
Nico gets out his sword his eyes piercing into Leo soul
„Do you think Jason still loves you after what you did Leo?“, Nico asks coldly
Leo‘s heart feels like it‘s torn apart
Nico‘s words are the truth in the back of his mind. The truth that his lust for revenge drowned out
Jason, sweet kind Jason would never love someone who killed his friends
Leo feels panic, he has to move forward he has to distract himself from his thoughts
„Let that be my concern.“, Leo spats and drops Hera to the ground
Her body is covered in deep cuts, golden blood covers the strings
The attack begins
Leo decides to take out Percy first
He shoots fire but Percy uses the lake to his advantage
Water and fire clash together in the air squishing as they meet
Leo gets more furious
He creates big flames that lit the threes next to Percy on fire, tiny flames to grasp Percy‘s hair
Percy seems to be prepared for everything
He protects himself with shields of water and creates tentacles in an attempt to drag Leo to the ground
Their fight is hard, full of hatred and so none of them notices Nico‘s fight against Nero
Until the emperor screams while he's being sucked into the earth
Neros household, all young brainwashed demigods panic and run
Leo yells in frustration
Why did he choose such bad allies?
Nico collapses from the uses of his underworld powers, the grass around him black
Leo wants to take his chance and flames flicker from his hand#
But then a big hand of water grabs him and lifts him off his dragon
Leo is taken by surprise but soon blind rage follows
„Now!“, He hears Percx yell and when he turns his head he sees Annabeth cutting Heras net with Nico‘s stygian sword
Desperation and fear will Leo
„No please!“, He Beggs but Percy drops him on the ground without mercy
Hera although wounded immediately grows to full size her eyes blazing with fury
„I WARNED YOU MY HERO NOW FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS.“Hera yells her form glowing
„No wait!“, Percy says his eyes widened in shock
Leo knows what is coming, he has seen it once before
Tears of sorrow, of fear, of anger stream down his cheeks
He wonders if Hades will let him see Jason again after he murdered his daughter
In a last attempt to turn his fate he reaches for his toolbelt
But then he stops
How can he destroy the greeks after they took him in after they tried to make him belong somewhere?
His thoughts wander to Piper and his heart is split by deep guilt
Leo Valdez opens his eyes and stares right into the godly flames that even he can‘t survive
His last thought is a prayer of forgiveness to all he has killed in his path for revenge
Leo is buried at Camp half-blood
There are a lot of discussions about it but no one can think of a better place
Hera assures the Campers that in a few years there will be new roman demigods
This does not help the losses though
Percy and Annabeth spend many nights crying with each other about their lost friends, their lost future
Will has to hold Nico for countless nights too, Has to remind him that he always will be there for him
Apollo becomes a god again
And in California Piper Mclean cries out her prayers to the gods
She prays for them to free her out of these new fake mist reality
She prays for them to let her wake up in a world where her best friends are still alive
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly I wished Hoo went more into the fact that frank Jasons and Leos lives were all controlled by Hera! That would have been such an interesting dynamic!

AHHHHHHH this is unrelated to uno but my friend and I dared eachother to read something thatd make us cry, and I made her read the boxer and I'm on the floor sobbing over gourmet hound 😭😭 neither of us have done any work for like two days we're just binge reading
This is like, exactly how I felt when I was reading uno, but to a less extreme degree. Any of y'all felt uno legit messing with you mentally? Like actually I should've taken a break while reading it but I just read it continuously over thee days straight and was mentally and emotionally exhausted for a week after lol. I always stop rereading when the joker arc starts up bc I honestly can't handle it 😅
ik people call uno cheesy and it is, but what I felt while reading it was so intense. Ive felt that way over a precious few pieces of media. And it's so strange. I can't find a pattern at all. It isn't very well written, and the storyline is vaugely problematic, and tbh I've seen better world building, but I still love it. Same for other media I've loved, I can admit that I've read better, but I still, for some reason, resonated with these totally random (?) ones the most
If anyone's slightly curious the other works I've loved as much as uno (I call these things soul art make fun of me) are eleceed by jeho son and ZHENA (available on webtoon), the poppy war by R F kuang, his dark materials by Philip Pullman, and the Percy Jackson series and the heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan (pls don't pick on me lol). Ofc there's been stuff that's sent me into various states of existencial crisis but the characters from these works have literally always stayed with me
And Ik no one can psyco analyze me with these bc there's no way someone here has read them all mwahahaha *knocks on wood*
This was nothing really just a random baring of the soul to people who might relate 🥴
- Boba anon 🧋
Oh my god the mortifying ordeal of being known what have i done this is too personal ahhhh I'm to emotional rn I'm deff gon regret this later
UnO definitely delves into many serious topics. Like thinking back about the comic and everything that’s happened is definitely intense.🍿🥤🍭🍬🍫🧋🥨🥬🍦🍧🧊🐇🍩🥖📦🌻
I also gotta say that UnO has been one of my longest lasting passions (idk if that’s the right word lmao). I first started reading it around the time John’s ability was first revealed (i gotta admit, that was the only time of my reading uno that I’ve come close to being a jimp lmao) then I put it down for about a year and I came back and that kept happening to this point. Like most stuff that I completely put down I don’t pick up again. I could probably count on one hand the content that I’ve put down and picked up with the same passion.
I love UnO so much. Like I think that’s part of the reason I have so many criticisms about it just bc it has so much potential bc it’s already amazing with all of its flaws. I don’t think I’ve consumed a piece of media that I’d consider ‘flawless’, but UnO is sooooo close to being perfect in my opinion. The criticisms I do have are things that would be so easily fixed.
And dude, you’ve already issued the challenge. The psychiatrist anons are gonna flock to you now. You did not learn from my mistake lmao It's like self fulfilling prophecy now. You're going to get psychoanalyzed
Now they're not gonna do it bc I said this with such confidence lmao

SPOILER WARNING
So I was reading ToN and I got to the part about not being able to destroy the fasces, and my mind started racing with ideas so I got down my idea of how the book would end before reading the rest of it, just to see how wrong I was. Anyway I ended up liking it a lot so here’s my alternate ending to the Tower of Nero
Warning this makes no sense if you’ve read any point in the book past where I stopped, so keep that in mind.
Nero’s words still rang in my mind. “You haven’t destroyed it yet, because you can’t. Even if you could, you’d release so much power it would burn you to cinders.” After he said that we ran, fast. He didn’t even bother calling the guards on us. He knew Python would get us first.
I was at the back of the group, because I was carrying the fasces, and it weighed me down. This thing had Nero’s soul in it, it was the only way to kill him, but breaking it would destroy everything around it. And even then, there was still no way to defeat Python. I’m not strong enough to take him out. If only there was some way to… oh. It’s so obvious, why didn’t I think of it earlier? Well, I don’t even want to think about it now, but it’s my only option that gets everyone out safely.
I stopped walking, and the rest of them turned to face me. Rachel asked, “Apollo, what are you doing? We need to keep moving.” I steeled my nerves. “I have a plan to take out Nero and Python in one move.”
“Great, let’s hear it,” Lu said. “No. No time. I need all of you to run, run as far as you can. I’m going to take them out, but you need to be out of the blast zone. Don’t come back for me.” I half wished somebody would protest, say no Apollo, we can’t let you sacrifice yourself, but they nodded, and ran.
Except Meg. Meg was holding back tears.
“Let me help, Lester. You can’t do it on your own.”
“I know.”
“Then how-”
“Destroying the fasces will incinerate anything around it. I’m not strong enough to break it, but he is.”
Meg wasn’t even holding the tears back at this point. She was crying. Over me. “Lester, you can’t,” she sobbed. “You’ll die!”
I pull her into a hug. “Hey, that’s the price of being human.”
“Now go.” She nodded, and gave me a weak smile before turning to run.
I rummaged through my bag, looking for anything to secure the heavy fasces. After a bit of searching I find what I’m looking for. Oh, thank the gods for Duct Tape, truly one of mankind’s greatest inventions. I strap the fasces to my back and shuffle onward towards my doom.
When I finally got there, my old enemy Python has wrapped his way around the entire chamber. His eyes are closed, so he doesn’t see me approaching, and for a second I have to admit, I’m tempted to just flee. Give up this lapse in judgement and live the rest of my mortal life hiding in shame.
But Jason didn’t think like that. Or maybe he did, I guess I have no real way of knowing. Maybe he was just as terrified as I am right now, hesitant to sign his own death warrant. But nevertheless, he jumped into the fray and sacrificed himself to save his friends. So had all the heroes I’ve met on my journey. They were so brave, much braver than I will ever be. But I owe this to them.
“Python!” I yelled into the echoey cavern. Names have power, especially for immortals. Calling the name of someone who wants to kill you is a death wish. But it sure got his attention.
The enormous serpent opened its eyes, the size of lakes, and stared right at me. “Little Lester,” he growled in that horrible voice. “You appear to be all by yourself, but that can’t be possible. I’m sure you have a whole cavalry hidden with some sort of magic. You might as well reveal yourselves, it won’t make a difference.”
I was frozen, shaking. I remember Python well, he terrified me back when I was a god, as a human teen his presence was simply too much. “No,” I squeaked out. I held on to any courage I had. “It’s just me.”
Python smiled, but tilted his head in confusion. “Then how on Earth do you intend to fight me?”
I dropped my bow and ukulele. “I’m not here to fight.”
Now he was incredulous, and angry as well. “I am going to consume you, your entire essence. You will be destroyed, and I will control this world’s future, and you mean to say you aren’t going to fight it?”
“I’m doing this so my friends can survive.”
Python reeled his head back. “Are you sure you’re Apollo?” He hissed. “No immortal in their right mind would be so cavalier with their existence.”
At that I had to laugh. “I don’t think I was ever in my right mind until I was cast down here. I was arrogant, selfish, and cruel. I cared only for myself. But worst of all, I treated mortals like they were expendable. Insignificant humans, good for a laugh, or a duet, or to fetch me something.
“But these people, they live lives that are so full of value and meaning. They form connections that I’ve never had, bonds stronger than anything you or I are capable of. And then… they end. And humans come to terms with it, they accept it. Their lives are so short, but more full than mine ever was. And if sacrificing my life means that they can live another day, then I am fully willing to do so.”
Python was quiet for a moment, looking almost contemplative. Then he curled his sharp teeth into a menacing grin. “Well, Apollo, one thing certainly hasn’t changed about you. You’re still a fool.”
He unhinged his terrifying jaws, and I dove in without hesitation. In the moment before we collided, I could see myself reflected in his eyes. My face was determined and resigned, but my eyes were the real. They were glowing bright orange, two burning orbs, bright and harsh like the unforgiving desert sun.
I could see Python, my oldest enemy, finally recognize me. His mouth didn’t move, but his expression morphed into one of pure terror.
And then he clamped his jaw down.
A fang came down right on top of me, the impact puncturing my body and shattering my spine. The pain was searing, I was probably a few seconds away from death, when I heard a hum from near me. My plan had been a success after all, the fasces was shattered as well, and was slowly getting brighter and brighter, and I could hear Python screaming out in pain. In a burst of light, we were both gone.
I don’t quite remember being dead. I didn’t have any thoughts, not even a haiku crossed my mind. The only reason I knew I was still there was the pain. It got duller and fuller over time, and I started to worry if that meant I was fading away, out of existence. But even then, that barely concerned me. I knew Python was gone, I had done my job. If I faded away now, it didn’t matter, my friends were alive and safe.
And then suddenly I was alive. The first thing I saw was my sister. She was sitting next to me, arm around my shoulder like she did when we were little. “I’m glad you’re here.” I had never heard those words from Artemis before. I started to tear up. “Zeus wants to see you.”
It took me a while to remember how, but I appeared in my father’s palace, right in front of him. I saw his glowering expression. Then I heard his stern, familiar tone. “You were not supposed to die. It took all I had to bring you back this much, but even now…
“You’re still a god, but not powerful like you used to be. You’re on the level of the most minor of deities, not an Olympian. I know this must be very upsetting to you.”
The strangest thing was, it wasn’t. I had lost my status, most of my power, I should be furious at how diminished I’ve become, but it didn’t bother me in the slightest. Alarming, to say the least.
For some reason, my mind kept drifting back to Camp-Half Blood. My children, all the others I had saved, and my brother, Dionysus, still stuck there. It was odd how happy he had been, just to have someone else to work with. I hadn’t seen him that excited since he was first sent to that camp. I had laughed at the time, but now I think his punishment was no better than mine.
Zeus cleared his throat. “Well, at least you’ve learned your lesson now.” I looked at my father, the man who had caused all of this in the first place. “I’ve learned many lessons, Father.”
“I’m glad you’ve learned how to respect me now, Apollo.” Suddenly I was overcome with anger. This… god consistently refused to take responsibility for his actions, and never took into account anyone’s feelings but his own. He was callous, and egotistical, and awful.
But, that’s just what I was like before my journey, wasn’t it? I was just as awful as he is. But I’m better than that now. I don’t have to go back to the way I was, I can make changes. We gods always said we were stuck as we were, that we needed mortals to change things, or we would keep repeating our history forever.
But the truth is, we could have changed at any time, we just refused to accept that we were the same as humans. We refused to accept that we could be wrong, in need of changes. We just continued pretending we were perfect, because we are cowards. I was a coward. But not anymore. And I am going to write my own prophecy, change my future.
“No, actually, I think that’s the one class I skipped.” He furrowed his brow. “What. Did. You. Say.”
“You need to release Dionysus from his post at Camp-Half Blood. Now.” Thunder roared throughout mount Olympus. “That insolent child hasn’t served his full punishment yet!”
“Doesn’t matter. I’ll be taking over his post effective immediately.”
When I appeared at Camp-Half Blood that day, I kept myself invisible at first. I wanted to see what was going on at camp before I made my presence known. The scenery was always beautiful, but now I looked at it with a sense of nostalgia. Not just as a place to pop in and show off to the young demigods. But as a home.
The first thing I spotted was, in fact, spotted. It was my brother, in his usual ugly leopard print shirt. The second thing I spotted was Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, at camp. I had last heard they were at Camp Jupiter, but they were here now.
Percy and Dionysus were arguing loudly with each other. I caught a snippet of it. “Look Mr. D, me and Annabeth were on the other side of the country, you can’t just teleport us here on a whim!” Dionysus sighed. “It’s not a whim, Peter Johnson, I brought you two here so you could hear my big announcement! Ah, speaking of!”
He amplified his voice, and began. “Attention campers! Please proceed to the courtyard immediately, I have a very important announcement to make!”
Head counselors shuffled kids out of their cabins until everyone was in the courtyard. I heard some kids muttering things like “ugh, this better not be another end of the world.”
Mr. D cleared his throat. “Now that I have your attention, see you losers!” There were cries of confusion from the crowd. “That’s right, Zeus has lifted my punishment early, which means I don’t have to take care of you brats anymore!” He looked almost giddy. He looked to where I was standing, invisible, because of course gods can see each other, and gave me a nod of gratitude, before disappearing in a flash, leaving behind a cluster of grapes. I had the feeling he wasn’t coming back.
The camp fully erupted into chaos, children freaking out left and right. Even the oldest around were confused, this was new territory even for them. A young child ended the chaos by crying out “who’s gonna be in charge of the camp?” The campers paused for a moment, before turning their heads to all look at Percy Jackson.
The poor boy looked almost ready to cry. He so desperately wanted to be done with everything, to have a normal life, go to college with his girlfriend. He didn’t want to spend his whole life at this camp. But he sighed, and said “if I have to step up, I will.”
In a flash of golden light, I made myself visible. “That’s very noble of you, Percy, but it won’t be necessary.” The whole crowd was stunned. I had to smile. Despite it all, I still loved a good dramatic entrance. I heard a familiar voice from the crowd say “Lester?”
I had never been so happy to see a little girl with a terrible pageboy haircut. I did a little wave and said “hi Meg,” weakly.
“I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?” She yelled across the courtyard, but I could see she was smiling.
It occurred to me that I still looked like Lester, and even more surprising, that I hadn’t cared to check. I used to spend hours a day agonizing over what form I took, but it hadn’t crossed my mind this whole time. Even stranger, I didn’t feel like changing to someone more handsome. This Lester form felt somehow fitting to me, like I wouldn’t want to change it at all.
“I kinda did die, but I’m back now, and immortal again. But I’m not Apollo. I’m not anywhere near as powerful as I used to be. I’m not even on the Olympian council anymore.”
“Wait, then there’s an empty spot?” Annabeth asked. “An unbalanced council isn’t good.” I nodded my head. “Yes, that’s why I yielded the post to Hestia. I figured she deserved a turn back in the spotlight.”
Percy grinned. “Wow, man, that’s a lot to give up.”
I sighed. “Yes, it is.” I turned back to Meg, tears welling in my eyes. “It’s good to see you again.” She wiped a tear away from her eye. “Well, are you gonna lead us or not?” I smiled. Never change, Meg, never change.
“Right. I’m running this camp now, and you will see some major changes.” The campers looked nervous, probably remembering Mr. D and all his ideas.
“For starters, I’m creating a parents day here at Camp-Half Blood, twice a summer. I understand that some of you don’t have great relationships with your parents, but there are many who do and wish to see them. For those campers, we will provide safe travel so your parents can be here to see you.”
Some kids looked very excited, especially younger ones who had just been pulled away from their parents. I looked up to the sky for this next point. “And also, attendance from godly parents is mandatory!” The sky rumbled with loud thunder. “Don’t try to fight me on this! You all have infinite time and can be in multiple places at once, there’s no reason you can’t be there for your children for a couple of hours!”
The younger campers definitely all looked ecstatic at that, the prospect of meeting their godly parents. The older campers, though more jaded, still smiled at the idea of their parents being there for them. The kids were all chattering excitedly amongst themselves, until one piped up. “What about quests?”
This was the question I’d been dreading, because I didn’t have a good answer for it. I paused. “Quests and prophecies are an unavoidable part of life as a young hero. However, I am aware of how dangerous and traumatizing they can be. So I am instating a policy. If you have gone on a quest, you do not ever have to go on another. You are allowed to opt out, and the gods have promised they will not hold it against you.”
A half-hearted clap of thunder pulsed through the camp. Percy and Annabeth gave me grateful looks.
“Any more questions?” I asked the camp. My son Will raised his hand. “Yeah, what do we call you? You’re not Apollo anymore, and I’m guessing Mr. A isn’t right either, so who are you exactly?”
That was tricky. I didn’t quite know yet. I was certainly still immortal, yet I felt human, so human. But I think I was starting to get the idea.
“I’m Lester. God of Camp-Half Blood.”

the hills of alaska
#48 “I don’t want to be alone”
Quests were dangerous. It was common knowledge to demigods that there was a threat just around every corner. They lived a life of uncertainty. The only thing that was certain was an early death, but even then, they never thought it would happen to them.
No one ever did.
Percy’s heart broke in two as he watched Annabeth take a shallow breath. She couldn’t breathe, and with each rasp of her lungs, Percy wishes that there was anything he could do for her. She’s laying on her side, her arms wrapped around her trembling body. There was a white puff in the cold air with each small gasp she gave. Percy just watches her, refusing to put his hands on her. If he did, it would feel too much like admitting defeat.
They sit in silence, up in the hills of Alaska. It’s snowing somewhere outside of the cave, and every part of Percy screams for him to find a way out of this. He doesn’t move. There was no way out of this.
They were trapped. The Gods sent them on this quest, the two heroes of Olympus, and he should’ve known better than to listen. He should’ve known that the second they were in trouble, the second they needed help, they would be abandoned.
He should’ve known.
“I’m so cold,” she whispers, and a single tear makes it way down Percy’s cheek. His hand, frostbitten long ago, finds its way to her waist, trying to offer her some semblance of comfort. “When can we leave?”
And Percy sobs. “We can’t.”
But she was aware of this. “I don’t want to die.”
Percy doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t want to admit it, but he knew deep down inside that she was going to die. They both knew it. Death was inevitable, and they were lucky enough to cheat it for so long. At some point, things would catch up. It was the way of the universe.
Annabeth musters the energy to lift her head over her shoulder. The cave is dark and damp, in the negative degrees, but the most painful part is having to bear the look she gives him. “Why do they do this to us?”
“Do what?” But he knows exactly what she means.
She sputters a little, and he gives her a moment to catch her breath. It seems to take longer to do so each time. “They abandoned us.”
“We’re going to be okay,” he tries to distract.
“No, we won’t.” She lays her head back down and closes her eyes. The pain is starting to disappear. She is both joyed and petrified. “We’re dying.”
“I’m so sorry,” he whispers. “For bringing you on this quest.”
“The only people at fault are the gods. This was a trap, and they knew it.”
“You shouldn’t be here with me.”
She coughs. “I don’t want to be anywhere you’re not.”
“It shouldn’t end like this,” he says, a bitter tone creeping into his voice.
“They could get us out of here if they wanted to. They have the power to.”
“They could,” he admits, but he knows the gods. When given the option between strength and fear, they chose fear. “They’re not going to.”
Annabeth’s lower lip quivers and she tightens her arms around her some more. “So cold.”
Percy doesn’t hesitate to rip off his jacket. It was the little cloth he had left to keep him warm, but it wasn’t going to do him much good anymore. They were encroaching the end at the speed of light. She doesn’t argue when he settles it over her frail form.
“I love you,” she says. “Don’t leave me.”
Percy manages a hint of a smile even though it’s the last thing he wants to do. “Never.”
“I don’t want to be alone,” she admits.
“You don’t have to be. I’m right here.”
“But what about after? What happens if you’re sent to Isles of the Blest, and… I’m not?”
He inhales deeply and settles onto the floor beside her. He wraps his body around hers, hoping to help relieve even an ounce of the burning pain, and he says, “Annabeth Chase. I have never met someone stronger than you. You have saved the world in more ways than I can count, and if it weren’t for you, neither of us would’ve made it this far. Because of you, we got the chance to live. I got to fall in love with you, and that is why I know that you are going to make it to Isles of the Blest.”
“You can’t guarantee that.” Her voice is fragile.
“I know you, Annabeth.” Percy presses a kiss to the tip of her ear. It feels like ice. “You’ll make it. I will see you again, and if the gods try to play another trick, I will not stop fighting until I’m by your side. I’ll burn Olympus to the ground.”
Annabeth swallows, numb. She nods her head, and they settle back into a tense silence. It’s comfortable, but there is the thought settling between them. The end is coming soon. They can both feel it in their blood, running through them.
Being a demigod was never fair. They were the chosen ones, and even though this is not the way he wanted his life with Annabeth to end, trapped in a cave with no escape, he feels so grateful to have gotten the chance to live this long. He made it to twenty-one. He spent five years loving Annabeth with every fiber of his being. The five years were the best years of his life, but another part of him, deep down inside, is glad that this is happening now.
He has Annabeth by his side, and he can’t think of a better way to go. He no longer has to worry about the next attack, the next time he’s going to be hurt, or watch Annabeth get hurt. He doesn’t have to live his life in fear of the future, constantly looking over his shoulder. A part of him is finally free from this hellish life imposed on him.
“I can’t breathe,” she mutters, the rising and falling of her chest imperceptible to him. “I’m scared.”
Percy kisses her neck. “Don’t be, princess. I’ll right there with you.”
“Promise?”
“I swear it,” he says.
He holds her, and at some point, the shaking of her body stops, and she takes her last breath. He doesn’t let go, and he doesn’t cry. She’s not in pain anymore, and that’s the only thing he could’ve asked.
The gods were unfair, but in the end, maybe they were showing the them mercy. They could finally be happy with each other. They could see their friends again — They could see Jason again. Percy could see Beckendorf and Silena together again. Every demigod he’s had to watch die right in front of his eyes — he could finally see them again. He and Annabeth could finally live the life they never could here on this planet.
He stops shaking from the cold as his life flashes behind his eyes. He feels a warmth surround him, and he feels like a child again, sitting with his mom eating chocolate chip cookies. He feels twelve again, meeting the girl with princess curls for the first time. He’s suddenly sixteen, fighting in the Battle of Manhattan, and then he’s seventeen fighting the second war.
And then he’s twenty-one, dying next to the love of his life.
He’s finally free, and he knows he’ll see her waiting on the other side, her arms open wide. He’ll get to kiss her again, and all of this will be a mere figment of the past.
His final breath is taken with a smile gracing his face.

Nico Di Angelo AU - Part 1
Spoliers for the entire Percy Jackson Serise. If your not caught up do not read.
Disclaimer - I don’t own the characters or any of the books plot. That is owned by Rick Riordan not me I sort of own the idea. There is other people in the internet who have this idea, this is just my take. Also I got most of the information of the plot and details thanks the the Fandom Wiki so credits to them.
AU - Nico Di Angelo was the child of the prophecy instead of Percy Jackson. Pretty much the serise as a Solangelo cannon instead of Percbeth. Some things are different but most things are kinda the same like the quests.
P.O.V - So in the orignal series it’s all in Percy’s POV but I got the idea that it switches POV’s like “Heroes of Olympus”. This is switched between Nico,Will, and Bianca
The Lightning Thief
Arrival at Camp
A twelve year old boy and thirteen year old girl were taken out of there military school by a lawyer (Alecto in disguise) to go to a Camp for them to be safe. There names were Bianca and Nico Di Angelo.
On the way they were attacked by the Minotaur which was chasing the limo.
Alecto told them to run to Percy’s tree and tell the people at the camp there that there haftbloods. Bianca and Nico ran towards a big pine tree but the Minotaur caught up to them. To protect her brother Bianca killed the Minotaur with her bare hands and somehow survived. Bianca and Nico fainted by the pine tree and before Nico passed out he yelled Help.
A camper immediately saw them and rushed them to the infirmary.
Nico woke up and saw a cute blonde hair boy (Will) rambling about how Bianca killed the Minotaur with her bare hands and how these kids are powerful. The boy noticed and got him a glass of water. Nico asked “Where am I”and “Where’s Bianca”. the boy said “Your okay and your safe” calming him down. Another boy (Lee Flecher) came in and told Will to take Nico to Mr.D and Chiron.
The blonde hair boy took Nico to two men both in there late 40s and Bianca who Nico immdently hugged. The men introduced both as Mr.D and Chiron. Chiron asked the blonde hair boy who he called Will to set up a place where Bianca and Nico to sleep in Cabin 11. Chiron explained to them about the Greek Gods and how there real. Nico was in shock while Bianca thought that it was all fake. Chiron asked them if they had ADHD or Dylexisia, if they’ve had an absent parent figure, or if werid thing have happened around them.
They both said yes and we’re taking it in. Chiron asked if they had any parents. Bianca responds with “Are mother died and are father was never around but after are mom died, are dad that we never met sent us to this hotel for a few weeks and then to a miterally school.” Chiron said “That’s strange, the records say - never mind there probely wrong. Mr.D told them to go to Hermes Cabin which Luke led them to since he was passing by.
Nico saw Will and went over to him. He thanked him for fixing his arm. Will blushed and told him that he didn’t and that was Lee. Will said that he really wants to be a child of Apollo because he loves working in the medicence field and that Lee let’s him help sometimes. Will asks him that if he knows the game Mythomagic and Will teaches him
Over the next few days Will and Nico became inseparable and did all there activitys togther. Until a few days before the Capture the Flag game a Aries camper was roughhousing with there sibling, which resulted in a wound on there arm. Will quickly fixed and healed with magic (Like Magnus Chase’s healing magic) and was claimed by Apollo. Nico was heartbroken. His best friend was claimed. Will and Nico still spent there free time togther but it wasn’t the same and Nico was all alone execpt he had Bianca
The Claiming
On the Capture the Flag game the captins were Athena and Aries. Athena took the Hermes and Apollo cabin while Aries took the rest. Nico and Will were on border patrol being kids but Will was asked to help in the infirmary as an Apollo kid so Nico was alone. Nico heard something in the woods and went to go look at what is was. It was a hellhound and it almost attacked Nico but Bianca stopped it and the hellhound backed away. Everyone saw what happened and were shocked. Bianca hugged Nico and made sure he was okay and then they were claimed by Hades. Everyone had fear in there eyes including Will.
No one talked to them after that and if they did they had fear in there voice. Everyone treated them differently as they were the black sheep of the camp. Chiron ended up letting them stay in the big house since the Hermes Cabin were terrified. He also gave them a new schedule so most of the time they wouldn’t be with the other campers.
One day they went to the forge to make weapons with Cabin 9. The Hephaestus kids were all terrified. Becknodorf didn’t care there were children of Hades and told them if his siblings gave any trouble talk to him. Bianca made a sliver bow and arrow and Nico makes a black Celsetial Bronze sword.
The Prophecy
Later that night in the big house. Nico couldn’t sleep because he heard noises from the room above him. He went to check it out and the Oracle started to speak to him and gave a prophecy to him.
“You shall go west and face the god who has turned,
You shall find what was stolen and see it safely returned,
You will be betrayed by one who calls you friend,
And your journey shall be a fight till the end”
Chrion finds a terrified Nico and tells him a prophecy has been issuied. He calls a councilor meeting instantly. It was pretty much all the oldest campers in the camp with the exception of Annabeth because the head counselor for the Athena cabin was in the infirmary thanks to a grusesome sword fight with Clarisse and she went instead.
While taking Bianca decided to go on the quest since she could not leave her brother alone. Even though Annabeth has been waiting for her chance she decided not to go because two children of the big three will result in a “death trap” which Luke whispers in her ear something about being nice. Nico tells them the lines of the propchey and they all unpack it. They also explain to the Hades’s kids about what happened at the solstice and what’s at stake in which Nico is internally freaking out since the fate of the world is on his shoulders
They still needed a third quest member. Nico asks Becknodorf but he declines since he’s needed at camp. Bianca thinks that no one wants to come since there children of Hades but Nico still has some hope. The next day Will gives Nico a “Quest kit” packed with ambrosia, necter, a first aid kit, and money. Will tells him how this quest is important and he’ll do great. Nico dosen’t and says “I can’t. The fate of the world is in my shoulders and I don’t even have a third quest member”. Will calms him down and tells him he’ll go and Nico hugs him and says “Thank you”
Nico and Will tell Chrion and he announces it at Breakfest. Bianca is shocked but happy. Most of the camp is shocked that a son of Apollo is going on a quest with two children of Hades. The Apollo cabin is mostly mad execptially Micheal Yew.
After breakfest Will goes to his cabin to grab a few things before the quest. Micheal Yew is infuriated and yells at Will on how he’s going to get himeself killed and how he can’t trust children of Hades because there evil. Will yells back and tells all of his siblings how Bianca and Nico are good people and how there all judging them for their dad which is stupid. He leaves the cabin and is off to Percy’s tree. Before he leave Lee tells Will he’s proud of him for standing up for his friends and that he’s going to do great on the quest.
Bianca, Nico, and Will are by Percy’s tree off to find Zeus lighting bolt. Before they leave though Beckendorf gave Bianca a magic rope he made, to help her in tricky situations.
Starting the Quest
After Nico, Will, and Bianca are driven into town, they take a bus into New Jersey. When they get on the bus, Zeus send monsters after them which Bianca defeats with her bow and arrow
They escape to Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium. After they are served food, Aunty Em wants to take a picture of them to use as models for her statues. However, she tries to turn them to stone instead of using them as models because she is Medusa. Nico cuts off her head, and they leave. They find a lost dog, return it, and get $200. They buy train tickets with that money and get off at the Gateway Arch.
When Nico is alone on the top, Echidna reveals herself, along with her pet, the Chimera. Nico battles the Chimera and is poisoned during the fight. Before he “dies” he prays to his father that Bianca and Will will be safe on the quest. Before Echidna kills him Nico accidentally shadow travels away ( there were shadows around him. I know it dosen’t make sense but I have to work with it) to the ground beneath him.
Going Futher West
Weaken, Nico tries to find Will and Bianca in which he dose. Will and Bianca are crying because Nico is on the verge of death. Will tries to use his healing magic but it isn’t enough. He was sobbing at that point and his tears healed him and took away the poison. They all cry happy tears and Bianca punches Nico is the shoulder and told him not to do that again.
The trio gets on the train and are taken to Denver.
They get off, and go into a diner. Ares comes in and tells them to get his shield at Waterland, and, in turn, he would give them a ride west
They go to Waterland and find out the ride was set up with a trap by Hephaestus. They get out with Aphrodite's Scarf and go back to the diner, and Ares shows them a Kindness International truck
Las Vegas
Once they reach Las Vegas, a bellhop from the Lotus Hotel and Casino invites them to come in. Bianca is a little skeptical and says this place is familiar. The bellhop insists and says it’s okay. The argee and went in. The receptionist asks for there names and when Bianca says them. The receptionist says that Nico and Bianca have a room and asks if they want to renew it. Bianca didn’t trust them but ends up going so Nico and Will are safe.
Nico, Will, and Bianca are given a room. After they enjoy the perks of staying in such a luxurious suite, they decide to go down to the arcade.
Will finds a boy, Darrin, who thinks the year is 1977. Will asks a few more people what the year is, to which they answer 1985 and 1993.
Will finds Nico and Bianca and they immediately leave the hotel
They are relieved to find out from a newspaper that it is still the same year. However, 5 days have already passed, leaving only one day to retrieve the lightning bolt.
The Night Outside
That night they decide to camp outside so they can get some rest. Nico decided to take first watch while Will and Bianca slept. Will woke up in the middle of his shift from a nightmare.
Nico asks if he was okay and Will said yes. Nico knew he lied and asked him again. Will said he dreamt of Nico dying in arms like he did before. Nico promised him he won’t do that again.
Will saw there was something wrong with Nico and asked him. He blurted it out of how he hates being a child of Hades. How everyone thinks of him as an outcast and that they wouldn’t cared if he was dead. Will told him he would upset if he was dead. Nico was his best friend.
Nico thanked him and also thanked him for coming on this quest. They stared into each other eyes for a moment and then Nico quickly looked away. He asked Will why is the pine tree on the hill called Percy?
Will tells him the story of Percy Jackson the other child of the big three. A group of haft bloods and a saytar were chased by a Cyclopes. There names were Annabeth Chase, Luke Castellan, Grover Underwood, and Percy Jackson son of Posiden. He was very loyal and did anything to protect his friends. They were about to reach Camp but the Cyclopes caught up to them. Percy sacrificed himself to save his friends. Posiden was upset his only son was dead and turned him into a pine tree. That tree watches over the camp and once you reach it you know your safe.
Bianca who wasn’t sleeping the whole time but the boys didn’t know that, decided to take watch. Nico and Will fell asleep and Bianca defently knew something was between them.
Reaching the Underworld
While searching for the entrance to the Underworld, they encounter Procrustes. Since Posiden is mad that Hades had two children breaking the oath twice, he sends his son Procrustes to trap Nico and Bianca. He traps Nico and Bianca using his signature technique — causing them to lie down on a bed while being stretched by ropes until they are exactly the same height of the bed
Will tricks him into lying down on one such bed. Procrustes is killed, and the trio proceed to DOA Recording Studios, the cover place for the gates to the Underworld, then enter. There Charon lets Nico and Bianca being children of the Underworld but doesn’t let Will in. Nico says that if he dosen’t his father will hear about this. (Please tell me someone got that reference)
Inside, they discover that the entrance to the Underworld proper is being guarded by Cerberus. Bianca tames him and then Will plays with the giant dog by using a little red ball to keep him distracted, giving Nico and Bianca enough time to pass to see there father
They walk through the Fields of Asphodel and pass by the path to the pit of Tartarus. As they approach the entrance to Tartarus, Beckendorf’s rope try to pull Bianca into it, but she manages to slip out of it. They get into there father’s place.
Nico confronts Hades who believes that he and Bianca were just some spawn and that he dosen’t care about them. He only cares because he needs them to clear his name. Hades says that’s not true and that he cares he just dosen’t have a good way of showing it. He then explains there past of how he put them in the Loucas Hotel for about 70 years to protect them from Zues. He also explains about there mother Maria Di Angelo and how he begged her and there children to live in the underworld which she declined. He also explains how Zues struck her with a lighting bolt and how he needed to protect them. Nico and Bianca were surprised but understood.
While Hades was taking, Nico realizes that Ares has tricked him when he discovers the Master Bolt is in his backpack. He and his friends were teleported by Hades out of the underworld
Fighting Aries
Hades return Nico, Bianca, and Will back to an ocean. They reach the shore, meet Ares, and confront him. Nico then challenges him to a fight.
He uses his sword to battle Ares. Nico eventually stabs him in the heel and Ares starts to bleed ichor. He is about to kill Nico when an evil force in the form of a dark aura convinces him to not strike Nico.
Ares then leaves, giving Nico the Helm of Darkness. Nico tosses it to the Furies, and they take it back to his father
Ending
Nico,Will, and Bianca fly back to New York City to give the lightning bolt to Zeus, despite the dangers of flying.
He proceeds to the Empire State Building and reaches the top, where Olympus is currently located. Zeus accepts the bolt and decided not to kill them. Hades was there to congratulate his children in not dying. Nico and Bianca have a short talk with there father before returning to camp.
Nico bumps into Beckendorf who reveals that he stole the bolt and helm for Kronos and then calls out a poisonous scorpion which stings and nearly kills Nico. Nico is unconscious after the attempt to kill him. Beckendorf manages to escape and leaves Camp Half-Blood. Will cures Nico and they, along with Bianca and Chrion discuss Beckendorf betrayal.
The camp beads are awarded, and the bead for this year - Nico, and Bianca’s first year is a white bead painted with a black helmet in the middle. Will’s was a black bead with a golden sun in the middle. Will leaves Camp Half-Blood to visit his mom Naomi Solace. Nico and Bianca stay at camp year around. The camp slowly learns to accept them and relized there kind, caring, funny people and didn’t judge them on there parentage. Sure some camper still have them dirty looks or talked behind there back but they didn’t care. They found a place where they belonged.
How was that? I worked pretty hard on it and I think it was great. This is going to be a serise and I’m planning on doing PJO and HOO but not TOA because I do not know how to write around that. I hoped you enjoyed that, I tried my best to make it different and tried for it to make sense. Thank you for reading.

disney’s ‘the hunchback of notre dame’, early 2000s kid nostalgia, and other midnight musings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“What the fuck, Stina? I thought this was a blog for book reviews!” you say.
“Books, amongst other things. Hence the -ish suffix,” I say. “And all my mediocre ‘reviews’ are hit-or-miss in terms of engagement, so I’m pretty much free to post whatever the fuck I want.”
I toss my head. My hair whacks me in the face.
The first time I watched Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame was been circa 2006, in the ‘movie room’ of my preschool, huddled around a CRT TV with the rest of my five-year-old classmates. Not much about the film particularly stood out to me at the age.
Fast-forward fifteen years later; I’m cooped up in quarantine, hundreds of thousands of miles away from that first viewing. I’m living my best life, rejoicing in my introverted tendencies and having a laugh at the expense of all the suffering extroverts. I haven’t moved from my bed all day, except for the bare necessities, and I’m bingeing YouTube videos. All is well.
I discovered Lindsay Ellis’s channel quite recently- embarrassingly enough, through her videos on Omegaverse and the whole Addison Cain fiasco. I stumbled down the rabbit-hole of her channel, and here I am, a few dozen videos later, and I find her one on this film.
Which, of course, led me to want to re-watch the film, with the eyes and mind (supposedly) of an adult. And it went far beyond and above my expectations.
The film is dark, much darker than the average Disney film of today- not just thematically, but the graphics too. Except for the first parts with the Festival of Fools and the last scene, the rest seems to have a dark filter put over it all. Obviously, given its themes (I’m pulling these out of my arse; I’m a STEM major and I have zero to no knowledge about film) of freedom and equality, acceptance of those different from us, corruption and lust- all that good shit, in other words- you can’t exactly have sunshine and rainbows. But it’s such a stark contrast from what I’ve been accustomed to from Disney; Frozen has Hans about to decapitate Elsa, but the background remains bright and light; Simba sobbing next to Mufasa’s body in The Lion King is heart-wrenching, but a few scenes later, we have an anthropomorphic meerkat-boar duo singing about eating bugs and farting and all that classy stuff, so it’s not as traumatizing.
The themes are a lot more on-the-nose than a lot of other kids’ movies (forgive me if I err, I am aged and forgetful)- cue la Esmeralda saying, “What do they have against people who are different, anyway?”- you get what’s essentially the same ‘accept others regardless of their differences’, ‘prejudice is bad’ morals from, say, Zootopia, but having given the main characters fursuits makes it less obvious than in this movie.
(Or maybe I’m just a dumbass. I have no elaborate notes for this; I’m high on sugar and deprived of sleep so I might be spewing bullshit.)
Admittedly, the resolution is a bit… unrealistic. The citizens of Paris = sheep, essentially; they go from throwing fruit in Quasimodo’s face because the guards started it, to helping defeat them. Maybe there’s something about mob mentality in there, but I find it hard to believe that people who showed up to watch Esmeralda burn to death were suddenly totally cool with not getting what they didn’t pay for. But then again, this is a Disney movie, and you can’t make kids too cynical too early on. Let them have their innocence and ‘people will be with the heroes in times of peril because humanity is inherently good!’ before they realize that humanity kinda fuckin’ sucks.
The characters are some of the most human from those I’ve seen in Disney (other honorable mentions: the main characters of The Emperor’s New Groove, Moana, Tangled, Anna from Frozen). Quasimodo’s the main character (lol DUH, will I ever say anything not obvious?), and he’s so lovable, but not without flaws- he’s biased against gypsies in the beginning because Frollo’s the literal scum of the earth. To borrow from the K-pop fans’ dictionary: UwU he’s so pure!
Esmeralda sparks a bit of controversy because she’s another POC leading lady from a Disney film of the 90’s (a list including Jasmine, and, sigh- Pocahontas) who’s markedly more sexualized than the white Disney princesses. It’s not something I particularly noticed nor cared about until I saw it being brought up- I mean, the woman shows a bit of cleavage and then dances for a couple of seconds- but. I’m just putting that out there.
She’s an empowering heroine without having to belt in in your face (not me making a dig at Naomi Scott’s Jasmine from the Aladdin live action film), and I also love how her role in taking down the Big Bad doesn’t have to do with her ‘power of seduction’ (the scene in the animated Aladdin film where Jasmine kissed Jafar truly traumatized me as a kid).
Phoebus is… well, he exists. Kind of a Regulus Black archetype, but not exactly. The guy on the bad side who turns good and all is forgiven. Well, at least it’s not the ‘her love made him a better man’ trope. And he is a good guy. Even if he did spend a considerable amount of his adult years on the side of the bad guys.
Systemic oppression? Nah, it’s one or two corrupt baddies. But again, it’s a Disney film, we need everything to work out for the good guys in the end.
Let’s get the gargoyles out of the way. To reference Lindsay Ellis’s video (she’s a lot smarter than I am and breaks this down better than I ever could): yes, the comedy’s oft ill-timed and inappropriate… for an adult audience. And the primary demographic of Disney films, especially princess ones (obviously Esmeralda isn’t a princess, nor does she marry into royalty, nor is she included in the group of princesses in the dumpster fire that is Ralph Breaks the Internet, but I had a book imaginatively titled ‘Disney Princess Stories’ as a kid that included Esmeralda’s story alongside Belle’s and Ariel’s, so I’m calling her a princess), are kids. And kids love fart jokes.
Additionally, I have a theory-that-is-not-really-a-theory-but-a-pretty-obvious-thing-that-happens that the gargoyles are figments of Quasimodo’s imagination, and the, at times crass and ridiculous things they say are just the voices in Quasimodo’s head (THIS IS OBVIOUS, STINA, YOU HAVEN’T STUMBLED ACROSS A STARTLING NEW REVELATION); maybe what he imagines normal townspeople to act like.
And then we have Judge Judy Chrissy Teigen Frollo. This dude is the embodiment of pure evil. He’s bigoted and rapey and abusive and one of Disney’s most successful villains- even better than Mother Gothel, who previously held the crown. It’s rare that a villain genuinely terrifies me, especially a cartoon one. Frollo, unlike your typical fairytale antagonist who wants power/fame/fortune/to overthrow Olympus, is far more sinister; driven from deep-rooted hatred instead of plain greed. He’s so much closer to people in positions of power and authority even in the modern world, and that element of reality makes him so much better as an antagonist instead of a literal sheep who hates carnivores (seriously, Disney, enough with the twist villains- they’re not working out).
Also, Hellfire slaps. In fact, the entire soundtrack does.
Speaking about Hellfire, I love the contrast between that and Heaven’s Light; how Esmeralda is viewed by Frollo (an object to possess, “Destroy Esmeralda, and let her taste the fires of hell; or else, let her be mine and mine alone”) as opposed to Quasimodo (someone with free will, “I dare to dream that she might even care for me”).
Another argument brought up, and admittedly one I had as a child was, ‘but if the whole point of the movie is acceptance and love as opposed to lust, why didn’t Quasimodo get the girl?’ Which, years later, I realize is an extremely misogynistic way to look at it. As Princess Jasmine said four years before The Hunchback was released, she is not a prize to be won. Quasimodo is Frollo’s antithesis; he lets Esmeralda choose, and she chose Phoebus. And Quasimodo accepted that, because he is good and kind and sweet and loving. Severus Snape, take note.
On a sidenote, I’m always kind of caught out of left field when the plot in films moves really fast- I’m really not a movie-watching type; I prefer to read, and books usually indicate how much time passes from one main plot point to another, and there are little slice-of-life, filler parts that tie in to character development and moving the plot forward, but at a snail’s pace. So, whenever I’m watching a movie and it’s one important event after another, I usually haven’t had enough of a refractory period to process it.
Let’s pretend that I segued smoothly into the next part of this (already tedious and long drawn out) review.
The Hunchback is the darkest film I’ve ever seen come out from Disney. Re-watching it as an adult made me pause every so often and wonder why the hell I wasn’t traumatized by it as a kid. I mean, the whole movie kicks off with Frollo about to throw an infant down a well. And then there’s that horrifying shot of the stone renditions of the Israelite kings on the church walls. Frollo falls to his death into fire. I mean, good riddance, but still. I guess it’s because the kids’ shows of today are awfully censored and polished so kids don’t have nightmares forevermore.
Update: tried to watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Exited just as fast as I clicked on it. Disney sequels really ain’t shit (yes, I’m looking at you, Frozen 2).
