Thinking about the weird camaraderie that exists between demons but not angels in GO.
Have we ever seen two angels who are actually friends? Or even friendly to one another? We have met angels with a capacity to be friendly in general, but I think the closest we've come to two angels actually getting along would be Gabriel making a point to laugh at Sandalphon's terrible "can't have a war without War" line in S1.
Most scenes between the angels actually seem to have an undercurrent of absolute hostility. Teeth-clenched teamwork. No wonder it took them so long to notice that Aziraphale wasn't on the same page as the rest of them! The rest of them are barely on the same page as one another, either! When Gabriel goes against the majority vote, no one bats an eye at demoting him and wiping his memory. Michael and Uriel immediately begin vying for his job. The only times we've seen angels team up is when they're working together to bully someone else, like when they're trying to intimidate Aziraphale in S1 or going to the aftermath of the bookshop raid in S2.
Saraqael's overall neutrality towards Muriel is the closest we get to two angels in Heaven getting along, and it's more a lack of hostility than any kind of friendliness. At least until Gabriel loses his memories and Muriel shows up to spy on Aziraphale, and Aziraphale decides to be kind to both of them.
Demons, on the other hand, actually seem to form alliances and even friendships among one another. Hastur and Ligur are awful, but Hastur seems genuinely distraught over Ligur's death, not just fearful of suffering the same fate. Shax and Furfur conspire together and even though the 1940's investigation into Crowley's fraternizing doesn't work out for Furfur, it's not due to any double-crossing on Shax's part. Unlike the angels, who stick almost exclusively to making threats until the Metatron decides to try dangling a carrot at the end of the season, demons actually offer rewards to other demons when trying to work together. Beelzebub offers Crowley a promotion if he can bring them Gabriel, Furfur offers to back Shax up politically if she goes for the Duke position opening, and Crowley successfully stalls Hastur in S1 by pretending everything was a test and he's going to be put in charge of a legion as a reward for passing. They're still not great at socializing, but they're significantly ahead of the angels.
Of course, it's a fact that demons are awful to one another (Eric's treatment is really bad, they throw that random demon into holy water just to test it, "it'd be a funny world if demons went around trusting one another", etc) but they still seem more capable of forming friendships than the angels do.
I think that's because Hell cramps and crowds everyone together to try and increase their suffering and hostility, whereas Heaven isolates angels to decrease the odds of questioning or rebellion. Hell's methods are unpleasant, but it still ends up putting demons together, and some of those demons inevitably forge alliances and make friendships. Because as Crowley and Beelzebub demonstrate, demons are still social creatures with the capacity for love and affection, even if it's strongly discouraged and buried under nine million layers of trauma and a cultural mandate against kindness.
Angels are the same, but isolation makes is harder to form connections than overcrowding. Muriel and Jimbriel are both so eager to make friends, but Muriel's spent the past millennia shut in an empty office, and Gabriel has been distanced from his peers both through his position and also through Heaven's culture of fear and surveillance. He only breaks away from it when he finds something that's stronger than "choosing sides" (stronger than the fear of being rejected by Heaven and Falling, in fact strong enough that Falling seems worth it if he gets to be with someone he loves). Both Muriel and Gabriel are only able to start forming connections when they're away from Heaven.
I just think it's interesting that demons, despite being supposedly devoid of love, have an advantage in forming relationships compared to angels. Angels are supposed to love, but have far fewer opportunities to actually do so. Demons aren't supposed to love, but they make connections anyway.

WIBTA for telling someone i can't be friends with them and returning a gift?
buckle up gamers, this is gonna be a long one. so i (22nb but i present fem) was out at the bars the other night just kinda hanging out, and a girl (26f) came up and started talking to me. she didnt really seem...super present i guess? and i talked to her to be nice and she had a cool outfit on. well i was a little drunk and ended up giving her my phone number and meeting her husband (39m) and they walked me home. the whole time she was talking about how she doesn't have any friends and her ex friends just wanted to get with her husband. she told me she was bi and i was like hey me too but im not interested in sex so that was cool. she ended up walking me home w her husband bc it was late which was nice, but they seemed really shocked i lived in such a nice apartment(i do, its expensive but my parents pay for it. im really privileged to be able to do that).
i saw her again today because she kept texting me about wanting to hang out, so i went for ice cream with her bc it was in a public place and i wasnt super comfortable going back to her apt with her. i paid for her ice cream bc she said her card wasnt working, nbd bc my parents have money and her and her husband aren't really well off. i said she could pay me back sometime, buy me ice cream or whatever another day, but she really fixated on it. she told me her husband thought i was cute which made me a little uncomfortable but i laughed it of, and then she kept talking about how she was bi and would date a girl and how she approached me not to date but to be a friend and then 'see where it goes.' she also told me she did porn online to make money which is fine w me, that she's on disability but that the money isnt really enough to live on, and that she'd been raped in the past and drugged which yanno a little overshare-y considering ive known her for three days but she really seemed like she needed someone to talk to and im good at listening. well her husband showed up out of nowhere bc he apparently tracks her phone and we all went back to their apartment bc i couldn't say no(im a doormat. i know) and she ended up giving me two pieces of jewelry in return for buying her ice cream which felt a little like overkill. i tried to refuse but she said she wouldn't ever wear them again so it would be fine. it was really kind of her but now i kind of feel i owe her back for them. the whole time i was there they seemed really eager to get me to move in nearby, and while its true that area is definitely cheaper my parents are really fine paying for my expensive apartment bc my tuition is a lot cheaper than my sibling's. she and her husband walked me home again, mentioning they might be going on a cruise in november if they could save up the money and that they could bring a friend. i said id almost definitely have school which they seemed to accept. they kind of seemed to want to see my place, but i told them it was really messy(it is) i have anxiety around having people in my space(i do) and that maybe they could come up another day and i could make dinner, and she told me she didn't like people cooking for her bc she'd been drugged in the past and that i could go over to their apartment again instead.
my parents think theres some really big red flags going on and i should try to break this off sooner rather than later. i pretty much agree. im not gonna ghost her and they dont think i should either, but that i should somehow return the jewelry in a kind way and tell her i cant really be super close friends. my mom had the idea to draw myself wearing the jewelry and then say i still have a memory of it but to return it bc i cant accept such a nice gift which i could try to do.
to be clear i am shit at communication and setting boundaries, im very aware of that, and most of this can be solved by telling her hey i can't accept this gift and im really busy for school a lot and im sorry i cant be as much as a friend as you need. but i still kinda feel like tah for leading her on almost and then breaking it off like everyone else in her life. ive been under a lot of stress bc of school and my stepgrandmother passing and trying to take care of my grandfather so trying to be friends with someone that seems kind of high maintenance is not really tenable for me.
so, wibta if i tried to let her down gently?
What are these acronyms?

Hi👋 love your work, it always make me smile every time you post
Can you do one about a ghost seeker who is still alive and in control of mind and body, just trapped in the suit, and how the different companions +dead money companions react to them?
FNV Companions (+Christine, Dean, and God/Dog) Reacting to a Ghost Seeker Who's Still Sentient
➼ Word Count » 0.9k ➼ Warnings » None ➼ Genre » Platonic
Boone almost shoots you on sight and probably would've if it weren't for how oddly you seemed to be acting. He'll set his gun down slowly, brows furrowed in confusion as you walk toward him like any other person would instead of the scrambled way the other ghost people moved. He doesn't really understand what you are, but when he learns you're not hostile, he'll leave you be. He's not too keen on letting you travel with him though, not entirely trusting that you won't snap at some point and turn on him, but he'll refrain from killing you. Just... keep your distance... if Boone's at the Madre, he's going to be paranoid and there's a high chance he'll accidentally shoot at you.
Arcade finds himself being amazed by your existence to the point where he may even grab your shoulders and peer at you in curiosity. He sees you as a sort of time capsule and, if you could communicate, would love to ask you all sorts of questions about life before the war, or even your positions on the political environment in the Mojave. If you want to stick with him for a bit, he'd quickly decide to try and find a cure for your condition. Maybe get you out of that suit? Cure the radiation? He's aware that it's wishful thinking, and he doesn't mind how you are now, but if he can make it even slightly more comfortable for you, he'd jump at the chance.
Most of the other ghost people thought Raul was either dead or one of them, so he wasn't all that concerned when you approached him. He's pleasantly surprised that there's anyone still conscious after all those years stuck in the Madre. Either way, he's mainly just happy he's finally found someone he can relate to. Look at you! Two pre-war mutations! He'll punch your shoulder light-heartedly, throw a few jokes your way, and follow you around as if you'd known each other for years. He's honestly just happy he's found someone who doesn't want him dead.
Lily thinks you're one of the cutest and most interesting things she's seen in a while - maybe even her entire life. You being a ghost seeker doesn't bother her any, in fact, she thinks the whole hazmat suit is quite nice looking. You don't see many of those lying around anymore, or anyone wearing them, for that matter. You're special, and she'll tell you that over and over until you start to believe it. She'll hold her hand out for you and guide you out of that awful place. You deserve to live somewhere nicer and, although it's a walk, she's certain Jacobstown will welcome you with open arms.
You'd be lucky if you were able to approach Cass and not have her immediately trying to gun you down. She can get a little trigger-happy, especially if she's at the Madre. However, if you did manage to get close to her and convince her to put the rifle down, you'll find that she still isn't all that fond of you. She doesn't care who you are or what you've been through, she wants you gone. You'll only attract more of the ghost people and she doesn't have enough bullets for all of you.
Veronica is slightly wary of you at first, but will quickly warm up to you with time. You'll have to forgive her, she's not used to having something like you not be hostile toward her. Once she does finally get used to your company, she'll be her regular chatty and curious self. She finds your condition strange and will dig as much information as she can out of you. You're definitely a wonder and, if she were certain it wouldn't get you killed, she'd show you off to everyone else at Hidden Valley. But, alas, the two of you will have to make do with what you have for the time being.
Christine feels a strange sort of connection to you. You've both been victims of awful experimentations, and her knowledge from spending so much time in Big MT has made it so she's aware of exactly what you are. She'll do her best to communicate what she knows to you, feeling that you should be cognizant of why you're stuck in the hazmat suit rather than ignorant. She'll stick by your side for as long as you do hers. You need each other, and she wouldn't let anything happen to you while you're both stuck in the Villa.
Dean will exploit you the moment he can get ahold of you. You're going to be the ace in any scheme he cooks up. The other ghost people don't bother you any, meaning you're his ideal for cracking the code to the vault within the casino. He's not letting you go anytime soon, at least not until he can get his hands on those gold bars. Whether he has to threaten you, pay you off, or restrain you completely; you're going to get him inside those gates.
Dog doesn't quite understand the concept very well and will try to eat you continuously. He'll squint in recognition whenever you talk or move, as he's aware only a sentient person is capable of that, but his gluttonous side can't help but attack you anyway.
God may be a violent and wrathful being, but there's something about you that makes him feel soft. He sees the two of you as being a lot alike; both monsters chained to this place of unrest. He feels sorry for you. He wouldn't harm you in any way, taking on a sort of brotherly attitude towards you, especially when it comes to your safety and well-being. You're about the only person who doesn't make him want to shoot himself, and when he locks himself away, you're about the only person he wouldn't mind having to sit there and talk to him through the bars.

Can you tell a little more about the future AU May and June and their adoptive parents?
feverish and not even sure where that doodle came from. here's some odds and ends tho
people assume the fashion designer would like everything Just So, all neat and tidy, and the long haul fisherwoman who's off sailing for moths would be fine with controlled chaos
dead wrong
the INSTANT May docks in Duckburg her anxiety spikes because she can just FEEEEEL June's messy work space
May dropping off a bucket of sea serpent scales, filling the bucket with soapy water, whipping out a mop and dust pan, and attacking her little sister's room with all the wild, furious intensity of someone trying to bail out a sinking ship
Donald likes helping but usually gets tangled up in the vacuum cord at some point
June hides booby traps for May to find in her messes. Just to have a little fun
You know how much she's been missing her sister by how many and how complex the traps are
While May is busy cleaning (and clearing) her room, June has a tradition of going on May's ship and hiding nice little nick-knacks all over it- a cool rock, a candy bar, a cursed knife Webby brought home from her last adventure... just fun surprises to break up May's extremely regulated life at sea
Daisy knits May a new wool sweater every year, and May always tears up when she get it
Donald not only has a dozen pictures of all his kids in his wallet, he also has pictures of May's first catches and allllll the clothes June has ever designed.
He talks to May about sailing to make sure she's being safe and doing okay- He listens to June talk about clothes design and construction afterwards, to calm down and distract himself from thoughts of May fighting sea monsters.
June understands that fashion trends are a thing but since they're a thing that doesn't often align with her interests she chooses to ignore them and just make what she likes
She never gets super well known as a result and doesn't mind at all
Miss Glamour admires her confidence and ends up hiring her as an assistant after Daisy starts up her own business- which nobody understands, since June doesn't cater to Glamour at ALL and the vibe is more "doting grandmother happily has tea with her headstrong and irreverent grandchild"
Daisy and June do mother-daughter martial arts exercises every morning and evening, before and after work, to stave off the carpel tunnel, and Daisy still has no idea how she survived so long without it
May tries keeping a logbook while out sailing but usually ends up writing another paperback spy novel instead (penname: Gray Gullson)
Beakly is a BIG fan
Beakly has no idea why May keeps wanting to have teatime chats with her about the old spy days but enjoys them quite a bit in any case
June kindly pretends not to understand why her sister needs to know if you could sew secrets or poisons into dress
and she puts May’s latest novel draft back into its hiding place when she accidentally finds it
...
she also edits the draft for spelling mistakes and leaves suggestions in the margins, in May's own handwriting, knowing it'll freak her sister out when SHE finds it
they make an effort to be together for the anniversary of Black Heron's "disappearance" (June paradropped onto May's ship from the Sunchaser once) but still aren't sure how they're supposed to spend it
they always call or visit with Daisy and Donald the day afterwards though
"...you ever think about what we would do, if she came back?"
"Disappoint her, probably. We're not exactly super villains."
"Yeah...."
"..."
"I hope we'd fight her."
"I think we would. I mean, if she tried to hurt mom or dad..."
"Or Webby or the Sabrewings."
"The boys too."
"Ducks and McDucks. Beakly."
"Launchpad."
"Gyro?"
"I guess pretty much anyone, really."
"We do have a lot of people to fight for these days."
"Maybe she'd be proud of us for that?"
"..."
"..."
"Probably not."
"Well I'm proud of us."
"Yeah. Me too."
"And I wouldn't trade Donald or Daisy for anything."
"Never."
"Ever."
"..."
"...I miss them."
"Same. Let's go home."

What Is Love?
Read on AO3
"I kinda love you."
Buck freezes at the words, keeping his back to Taylor as his brain works on processing what he's heard. Maybe he'd heard wrong. Perhaps she'd said something else. Maybe… Except then she's repeating the words.
And Buck still stands frozen.
The words are there on the tip of his tongue as he finally turns to face her. He should say them back, right? That's what he's supposed to do. He has this gorgeous, intelligent woman, his girlfriend , standing in his kitchen telling him she loves him. He's supposed to say it back.
But the words don't come. Because he knows if he says them now, it wouldn't be true.
Because he can't love her. Not when his heart already belongs to someone else. Maybe it has this whole time.
He thinks back to what he'd told Eddie months ago when he said he was going to stick it out with Ana even when he knew it wasn't working. How it wouldn't be fair to her to stay in a relationship he couldn't fully commit to.
Yet here he is, doing the same thing. He's been doing exactly what he told Eddie not to do. Even if it has been unintentionally.
Still, perhaps he should have seen this coming from the start. When she stood in front of him and said, " You didn't chase me ."
And he hadn't. Because he'd run to Eddie instead, he'd always run to Eddie.
Maybe that should have been a big glaring sign then. But he didn't want to see it. Because Eddie had been with Ana. And being with Taylor had been nice, fun.
But it's taking a serious step, and Taylor's jumped off the precipice, and Buck can't follow her over.
He thinks she must realize that. He watches as the smile slowly falls from her face, and her walls start to go up as she turns away.
"I'm sorry," he whispers.
She sighs. "What for, Buck?"
"You deserve someone that can love you, Taylor," Buck says. "And that's not me."
"Because you're already in love with someone else," she says, looking back at him. It's not a question. And Buck has to wonder just how long she's known.
"You knew?"
Taylor snorts. "Please. The day I met you, it was obvious you had feelings for Eddie. I just...I guess I never realized how serious it was. But that's on me."
Buck shakes his head. "No. I shouldn't have gotten involved with you knowing how I felt about Eddie."
"Perhaps not," Taylor says. "But I'm a grown woman, Buck. I make my own choices. And well, this was never supposed to get serious."
"But it did."
"Just not for you," Taylor points out. She finishes off the rest of her wine and sighs. "Maybe not for me, either. I've spent so long with my walls up I'm not even sure I know what love is. But I thought…."
"What?"
"Nothing," Taylor says. "I don't know. It feels like it should hurt more than it does. But maybe it doesn't because we've always been heading here."
Buck isn't sure what he's supposed to say to that. If he should say anything. He watches as she gathers her things and then walks her to the door. She hesitates, her hand on the doorknob,  and turns to him.
"You should tell him."
Buck blinks. "What?"
"Eddie," Taylor says. "You need to tell Eddie."
Buck shakes his head. "Eddie doesn't…."
"Buck, he does. Trust me. He does. You need to tell him."
"You're really telling me to go tell my best friend I'm in love with him as we're breaking up?"
"We were broken long ago, Buck," Taylor says. "And yes, I am. We both know how short life is. If you love him, you need to tell him."
She kisses his cheek, takes a step back, and shoulders her bag. The door is opening, and she's slipping through it, closing it behind her before Buck can react.
You didn't chase me.
You need to tell him.
And maybe she's right. Buck's almost lost Eddie so many times. More times than he wants to count, especially in the last year. And each time, it felt like someone held his heart in an iron grip and kept squeezing until he couldn't breathe. At least not until he saw Eddie was okay.
He feels something similar now. That itch under his skin. The need to see Eddie.
He grabs his keys, wallet, and phone and runs to his jeep before he can think too much about it. He drives almost on autopilot the whole way across town to Eddie's place.
The lights are still on in the house when Buck pulls into the driveway. He turns off the car and just sits there for a minute, watching the house. A shadow passes by the window, and Buck knows Eddie must have seen him pull in. Must know he's out here. But like with everything else, Eddie gives him time.
He doesn't text or call him or open the door. He just waits. Maybe he's been waiting this whole time.
Buck takes a deep breath and opens the door. He walks the short distance up the sidewalk to the door, a path he's taken so many times before. But this feels different. It is different.
He debates knocking but talks himself out of it. They're way past the knocking stage. So he opens the door and steps inside. Eddie's leaning against the wall in the hall, watching Buck as he takes his shoes and jacket off.
"I was wondering when you'd come in," Eddie says.
"You don't seem surprised to see me," Buck says. He leans against the wall across from Eddie, all too aware of each inch of space between them.
"Should I be?"
Buck shrugs. "I suppose not."
"Taylor told me you might come by," Eddie says. "Or that if you were smart and listened to her advice, you would."
Buck frowns. "Taylor called you?"
Eddie nods. "Oh yeah, about ten minutes before you got here."
"Did she say anything else?" Buck asks him, wanting to know just how much Eddie already knows.
Eddie's face softens. "She said you two broke up."
"Yeah."
"You okay?"
"Yeah. I um… She told me she loved me."
"Oh?"
"I couldn't say it back," Buck says. "I couldn't lie. Not when I know I don't feel that way. That I can't feel that way. Not when I…."
"Not when you what?"
Buck fights the urge to look away. He knows once he says the words, there's no going back. He's at another precipice, and this time he's the one that's about to step over. But this is Eddie. If there's anyone he could trust to take the leap with him, it's him. He has so many times before, without question. He has to believe he will now.
"Not when I love someone else," Buck says. He pushes off the wall and walks slowly towards Eddie. Eddie's gaze stays on him as Buck draws closer. "I love you ."
There's a long few seconds where silence falls between them. Eddie's face remains unreadable, before a smile stretches across it. His hands come up, strong and sure, and take Buck's face between them. "I love you too."
When Buck leans in to kiss him, Eddie meets him halfway.

The Faery Etiquette
Tumblr media
1)Not giving fae your name. Even if you think that this fae can be trusted or it's not a fae that's known to want to hurt people, it's never a good idea to give a faerie your full name. They could give your name to someone else, there could be someone else listening, they could not be as nice as you thing, or they could be perfectly nice and do something they think is good for you but you view as harmful. As for why names are important, names- especially full names- are actually a pretty intimate detail. Think about it, when humans want to dedicate themselves to something, they sign their name on it. Not only can fae think you're agreeing to something by giving them your name or do something with your name, but they can also feel they're indebted to you in some cases. You don't want a fae owing you or trying to make good on a debt. You're better off giving them a nickname or an alias, preferably one you actually use, but don't use that often, and/or saying "Call me BLANK" instead of "my name's" or "I'm". That way you aren't lying, but it doesn't have the same sense of identity that your actual name has and there are less tricks to be played by any fae who know that name. For example let's say your name is Alexander, but you usually go by Alex. You run into a faerie in the woods and they ask you your name. Not telling them would be rude and we know what happens when you're rude to fae. Instead you should say they can call you "Al" or "Xander" or a computer handle or nickname that people don't call you out loud but is technically your name or that you do go by just not out loud.
Tumblr media
2)The "thank you" one is not on it's own a good rule and is kind of dangerous on it's own, but it has a point. "Thank you" in a way is a suggestion of debt, and there is almost never a good time to say it to a faerie. That not to say you shouldn't give thanks to or show appreciation to a fae, but the specific words "Thank you" can be dangerous and even offensive when said to fae, and it's hard to explain. There's a certain intimacy and gravity to it. The only situation I've come across where it was comfortably excusable is when it's a protective fae usually living on the person's land. "Thanks", "Thanks so much", "you have my thanks", "That was very nice/generous/sweet of you" are safer alternatives, but still should not be said to excess. Faeries don't do things to be thanked, they do things because they want to or they feel it's right; and they tend to be very annoyed with how easily humans throw around their thanks. Honestly, if you feel indebted to a faerie folk, the best thing you can do is leave a gift where you met them.
Tumblr media
3)You usually shouldn't ask for a faerie's name. Like I said names are quite valuable, and asking for their name can imply a debt or even be offensive. Usually they'll give you their name once they know yours, it often won't be their real name but it works all the same much like the first rule, which is another reason you shouldn't give them your full real name. If certain boundaries have already been breached by the faerie, (as in they're in your house, they've lead you off into the middle of nowhere, they have you more or less cornered, etc) it's acceptable to ask them their name along with other more useful questions in trying to gather their intent. Usually though, you'll get a more honest less violent answer by asking a broader question like "Who are you?".
Tumblr media
4)  Don't trust faeries is kind of right and wrong too. Plenty of faerie are perfectly harmless and completely trustworthy and many like to be nice and helpful to humans. But that being said, they are a different being all together and live in a very different context than humans and often don't understand humans at all. They can think they're being nice, or they can think it's okay to not tell the whole truth because they think it's not a big deal, even if it has a severe impact on the person that they hardly even comprehend. The best way to explain it is a conversation my mother and I once had "Hey mom, do you think that the lady of the lake would help someone get back to their realm since she can use lakes as portals?" "Well, she could..." "Could she get them there alive, without them drowning?" "I don't think she'd really care if she got them there alive. She wouldn't understand the problem with not getting there alive. She'd figure them and their souls got back home, so it's fine. Yeah, 'but their dead', but she wouldn't understand what the issue was with them being dead.
Tumblr media
5)This one is tough. While you should be very careful going anywhere with anyone, especially a faerie, I'd be hard pressed to say Never go anywhere with one. But you should be very very cautious about following fae. First, of course, do not follow them without permission. Secondly, slow it down, ask "Before we go anywhere, I want to ask you a few questions. Will you answer them?" If they say no, say you won't go then, and walk away if you're able. If they say yes, question them. Where do you want to take me? Will you promise my safety? Will I be hurt? Will I die? Will I be allowed to come back? I need to return here by [specific time/event later]. I can only go if you promise to bring me back by then if I so wish. Do you give your word you'll bring me back if I ask you to? If they give favorable answers, and you chose to go with them, if they made promises to you, YOU MUST TRUST THEM COMPLETELY. If you don't put your trust in them but accept those promises and go with them, they do not have to keep those promises and don't have to keep true to anything they told you. If you have any doubt you shouldn't go with them. If you choose not to go with them you should tell them very firmly "I'm sorry but I’ll not follow “

anderperry week 2k21 day four; genderbent
this is mostly just . so so so so soft. feat. lots of talks of hair lol. todd -> jean and neil -> eloise / el
taglist my beloveds :) @charlies-cigarette @finding-an-angle @in-love-with-their-relationship @babo0shka @aedan-mills @nothing-gonna-wake-me-now @squidwards-fave-tentacle @cresswell-for-life @tuskofthyme
jean's voice is soft and nervous and low. she stands out from the rest of the junior class -- the only new girl, the only one not wearing a welton uniform. instead she's wearing what must be her sunday best; a nice skirt, dark sweater, and the shoes that click in the halls every girl and her mother hates. her hand is soft when eloise shakes it, introduces herself as el, her roommate, and jean's eyes are blue and kind and maybe that's all it takes for el to fall in love.
her voice is soft when they're alone in their dorm, and she says, "you looked nice, today. during the ceremony."
el blushes and says thank you. maybe that's all it takes to fall in love.
a few days later, el's hands are shaking as she's sitting at her desk, fretting over her hair. jean quietly sits down on her bed and grabs her wrist. "let me help." she says, and she listens as eloise tells her about her father, how he didn't like it when she said she wanted her hair short, which is stupid cause half the girls their age look like this, and boys don't mind. but el thinks it's mostly about charlie -- how her dad has never liked her, the fact she's able to get away with so much. says she's being a bad influence, no one will like a girl who smokes or swears. she cuts herself off when jean says she's done and hands her a mirror. "sorry, you probably didn't want to hear all that."
"no, it's fine." what jean doesn't say is, i like to hear you talk. i'd listen to you read some textbook if it meant i got to hear your voice. and, i know what you were getting at. i know you're not just talking about hair. i know what it's like. "im sorry about your dad." you look beautiful. i think you'd look beautiful no matter what. and instead of saying all that, jean offers her a sympathetic smile.
"thank you."
and then a bell rings, and they're off to class.
despite how friendly she'd been since the start, jean is surprised when el offers to be her partner on a project in english. she can't help but wonder if maybe it's just out of pity. eloise doesn't actually want to be friends, she just feels bad jean doesn't have any. or maybe just out of convenience, being roommates and all. but jean quickly pushes these thoughts from her mind when she agrees and eloise beams. maybe that - her kindness, her genuine smile that takes over her whole face, is all it takes for jean to fall in love.
they grow closer as the year goes on, and el makes it known she wants to spend time with jean -- which jean, of course, reciprocates wholeheartedly. el and charlie and all their friends intimidated her at first, but she quickly learns they're just girls. it makes her buzz with excitement anyway when el chooses her to link arms with while walking from class to class, her to sit next to and her to lean against when they laugh.
and sometimes, when it's just them in their dorm and lights should've been out hours ago, they'll stay up chatting, long since abandoning the notion of homework. they'll talk about school, their friends, classmates, and eventually, more personal things. their families, the way jean has always lived in her brothers shadow and el has always been in a harsh spotlight. charlie kissed a girl in ninth grade and el won't tell jean who, because apparently, they're still figuring things out. jean had a boyfriend for three months in seventh grade and this isn't really a subject eloise likes.
el doesn't think her dad will want her to act. jean tells her to try asking, anyway. el doesn't care. she lands the part of puck in a midsummer nights dream. she knows her father wouldn't like that. she goes on with it anyway.
it's early in the morning when el is sitting on her bed, reading over her script for the third time since she got it on friday, and she hears jean swear. "el, can you help me with this?" she sets down her script and looks up to see jean seated at her desk, holding out a necklace.
"sure." she crosses the room and sits at the end of jean's bed, leaning against the railing and taking the chain from her hand. she brushes off the feeling this has happened before. "since when do you swear?"
"what?"
"sit still. since when do you swear?"
"oh. um, i probably picked it up from you."
el nearly drops the chain, flushing, then laughs. "really? me? im being a bad influence?" there's a teasing tone in her voice and she finally clips the necklace together, lets it fall to jean's chest for her to adjust. she turns to face el and smiles. it's warm and she's biting back laughter. she rivals the morning sun.
"i guess so." el smiles back. and for a moment, they stay like that; silent, smiling, close. it'd be so easy to just lean over and kiss her.
then jean stands. "well, the bell is about to ring." she's looking in her mirror, adjusting the necklace and running her hand through her hair. her reflection makes eye contact with el. "thank you."
el's not sure jean hears her say you're welcome, hopes she doesn't notice the way she's blushing and bites her lip when jean turns to go.
-
everything about jean is soft. the way she pulls back her hair, folds her sweaters, reads her books and kept quietly to herself the first few weeks of school. and eloise is the opposite; faux confidence in everything she says, loud and bold in a way that most everyone likes. she's able to snap into the role of model student around her parents and teachers, top of her class every semester every year and they don't see her cry, she's friends with everyone and she's getting better at styling her short hair than charlie ever was -- or maybe the choppiness is a part of charlie's style, a part of her silent bullshit rebellion to the school, i know you don't like me and i don't like you, but my parents are rich so I'm stuck here and you're stuck with me, and whatever i do.
it's a few weeks in that they learn about the dead poets society from their english teacher, miss keating, and eloise and charlie and their whole group decide to reconvene it themselves. it's a few weeks in that jean starts taking after el, or maybe el starts to take after her.
jean's the one who helps el with finding new ways she can pin her hair up -- so it won't get in her face while she's reading, they say. el's the one who tells jean it's alright there's a tear on her skirt, it must've gotten snagged on something on the walk to the cave but that's alright, she'll mend it the minute they get back. sometimes they chat quietly while jean's hands are in el's hair or her skirt is in el's lap, about the meeting or school the next day or anything else they can think of. and on others, they sit in silence, on one of their beds or on the floor with nothing but moonlight -- and maybe one or both of their desk lamps -- and it's a comfortable sort of quiet.
the next couple months pass in a blur of private smiles and foolish urges running up their necks and taking root in their minds and hearts and el running lines with jean -- not anyone else, she always wants to do it with jean -- over and over until jean is sure she could recite the whole play backwards, she's just making up reasons to spend time together. which is silly, jean wants to say -- she'd be content sitting in silence with her. maybe it doesn't take a lot to fall in love at seventeen, maybe that's alright.
before they know it, it's a week before el's show, and they're running lines at the docks even though she knows them all already. jean uses her voice and for what seems like the first time ever, it's loud and it's strong, and they both laugh and el thinks, i love you. holy shit, i love you.
before they know it, the show is in a day, and eloise's father, by some miracle, still hasn't found out about it. she's stressed out anyway, and it's not over the show. she knocks on miss keating's office with a green ribbon pinned in her hair. she looks at the photo of a woman framed on her desk. a good friend, miss keating tells everyone.
eloise lets her guard down and her voice shakes as she tells miss keating about jean. about how she's sure jean loves her back, but maybe that's a strong word, maybe she doesn't. miss keating grabs her hand and says she should tell her. jean is too kind a girl to hurt el if she doesn't feel the same, but really, you should.
jean grabs the same hand the next day. eloise has been rushing around their dorm, grabbing her jacket and bag and making sure she has everything, and jean just wants her to slow down. breath, for a minute. she won't be late. yes, i saw you grab that paper. im sure. "i-" jean starts, catching her hand an el finally halts. i love you. i love you. holy shit, i love you. "i know you're going to do great. good luck, anyway." jean drops her hand and el smiles and says thank you.
and then she's gone.
jean wears her sunday best, again. she's long since forgiven cameron for calling her a priss on the first day, which was an awful first impression but now she just finds funny because cam is undoubtedly the prissiest of them all. she's the best in both school and keeping up appearances, so she's the one who helps jean tie up her hair. and the bow she makes is perfect, but -- maybe it'd look better if the ribbon were blue instead of red. she knows it's a silly and lovesick thought, but jean suddenly wonders what it'd be like to have el's hands in her hair.
the show is lovely. eloise is lovely. jean loves her. and she is going to tell her.
jean catches her eye when they're doing bows and her friends are pushing her forward. i love you, i love you, i love you.
they link arms as their friends talk over each other to tell eloise how wonderful she's done, and all jean can think, looking at her beaming face, is, i love you. eloise turns to her and smiles as if she knows, tugs her arm and they finally make their way through the crowd, following charlie's lead walking back to welton.
they've walked a couple blocks in a comfortable silence before jean says, "you were amazing. i knew you would be." and she doesn't know if el flushes from the cold or from the compliment or maybe, she foolishly hopes, because they're in love.
"thank you." she says softly. i love you.
there's a beat of silence. jean drops her arm from el's, and her heart is beating out of her chest when she swiftly grabs eloise's hand with her own. "i love you." jean finally says, soft and low and sweet.
"i love you, too."

V3 Girls x Shuichi's Twin
At the Class Trial, it was revealed that your twin had unfortunately been poisoned. It was devastating to you; your own lifelong brother, the person you were closest to, had been killed. Was it your fault?
Tumblr media
"Hey... S/O, let's get out of here."
She noticed you still standing at your podium, staring blankly. All the others were already gone.
She smiled sadly at you, and took your hand in hers, giving it a tight squeeze.
"You know, Shuichi was such a great guy, S/O. Kind, caring... I was glad to have him as a friend, and he was probably a great brother."
Kaede led you off the podium, and started to walk with you, hand in hand. To your surprise, instead of one of your rooms, she led you to her lab.
"I could tell you were feeling a little guilty, and I just wanted to let you know that nobody thinks it's your fault. Nobody could've known about the poison, S/O."
She sat at the piano.
"Please, allow yourself to get lost in the music. This one... I dedicate to Shuichi."
She started to play whatever was in her head at the moment, not being concerned with how the melody flowed or which notes would go together. She noticed how you closed your eyes and just listened to the soft notes she played, getting lost in the music.
Tumblr media
She's never been the best at comfort and emotions.
Kirumi more so specializes in completing tasks and requests that people ask of her; comforting was never one of them.
It absolutely broke her heart to see her significant other in such a dark place. It made her angry. How could the killer do this to Shuichi? To you?
"He would've wanted you to be strong, S/O."
She sat next to you on your bed, holding you in her arms as she rubbed circles on your back. Her eyes widened as you started sobbing about how you should've seen it coming, how you should've disposed of the poisons in his lab when you first saw them.
"Your brother... he requested something of me, before he died. He asked me to protect and take care of you, make sure you make it out alive. As a maid... I'm honor-bound to fulfill my request."
She looked you in the eye as she wiped away your tears.
"You may have not been there to stop the killer, but it wasn't your fault, and you need to realize that right away. It was theirs for killing someone we hold so dear to us. Now that we know there's real shady people here, I won't leave your side until we win."
She kissed your forehead, pulling you into another hug.
Tumblr media
She feels a little bit awkward.
How was she supposed to tell you everything was going to be alright, if she didn't even believe that herself anymore?
Still, she tried to make you happy, by going to your room and handing you flowers from her wand.
"I know you probably don't want them, but Tsumugi said they'd be a nice gesture..."
As the expression on your face didn't change, she sighed in defeat.
"S/O, I really did like Shuichi. I'm really sad that he's gone. To tell you the truth, I'm... actually kind of scared. He was one of the only ones here who actually seemed to care about me. And now..."
You were surprised as she burst into tears. You unvoluntarily burst into tears as well, and you two held each other.
"I-I wanna go home! I don't want to be in this stupid game anymore!"
Tumblr media
"How fuckin' lame is it that they poisoned Shuichi?!"
It was an attempt to cheer you up. A sorry one, but it was an attempt no less.
She panicked after seeing how her attempt didn't work.
"H-Hey! I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry about your brother... a-and if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, I-I'm here."
Her softer side came out. It made you smile a little, but you were still devastated. You pulled her into a tight hug, which she was taken aback by.
Eventually she rose her arm up and hugged you back, burying her face into your shoulder.
"I-I'm sorry, he didn't even deserve that. You'll always have me, S/O."
Tumblr media
Seeing you sad makes her sad.
During the class trial, she'd been relentless, accusing almost any person who dared to speak up.
When the killer was revealed, she was disgusted. She spat out a slew of names, telling them Shuichi deserved to live, and now here you both were, minute's after the killer's execution.
"What a piece of scum! He was the only male in this whole building who wasn't a complete degenerate! How dare they toy with my sweet S/O's heart like this!"
She looked over to find you in tears, and she hugged you, stroking your hair.
"I know, I know. It's okay... it's alright... nobody blames you for what happened."
Tenko let you cry into her chest, and glared at your fellow classmates.
"Well?! Show's over, move along! She's grieving, hello!"
Tumblr media
Maki was very used to comforting people, due to her experience with kids.
She knew exactly what to do. She led you outside, where she knew Kaito wouldn't be tonight.
"Talk to me."
You two laid on the ground and talked about everything that you were feeling. You felt partly responsible for his death; you should've been looking out for him more carefully.
"Shuichi is just as mature here as anyone else. Even though that's not saying much, it was out of your control. Don't let the survivor's guilt get to you, please."
You kissed her on the cheek tenderly, thsnking her for being with you.
"It was nothing, S/O. Come on, you should get some rest."

Analysing Episode 6 Sylvie - her actions, her choice and a whole bunch of theories (Spoilers!)
After watching the Loki finale, I have been scrolling through Tumblr for quite a long time. I already knew that people's opinions were gonna be incredibly different but I definitely did not expect this much negative backlash. Especially when it comes to two specific topics - the Sylvie and Loki kiss and Sylvie's betrayal (/choice/actions). I'm gonna be talking about the latter, for it is another time I'll talk a lot about Sylki's relationship. (Beware that this post is also really long though)
First of all, everyone has different opinions and I respect that. I absolutely adore movies, books, TV-shows and videogames because despite what's happening within the story, each viewer has the opportunity to see something else in what they are shown (besides the obvious canon). What I mean is that everyone interprets certain scenes differently and gains the opportunity to make up theories. Therefore I want to clarify that I do, by no means, want to force my views upon others. It's nice to see people talk about the Loki Series (as long as it doesn't get too negative and hateful, iykwim) because every viewer can share their specific experiences with it :)
I'm gonna analyse Sylvie's character a bit ( because, well, I'm bored and I kinda wanna protect my beloved character that I've only had for a few weeks >:^0 AND the only thing I could think about the past day was this episode) and try to explain her actions in the finale (keep in mind: not justifying them, but explaining them).
I'm terribly bad at concentrating on one single topic point so I kinda made a 'list' with questions and whatnot that I wanted to dive deeper into. Your thoughts are also more than welcome!
I already want to apologise for grammatical mistakes, for I am not a native english speaker.
Sylvie's reason for being taken away by the TVA is still kinda unknown
You know, I've heard quite a few theories about Sylvie's nexus event by now. Some people say that she got taken away because she was playing with her toys in a way that indicates her having a good heart (playing as a Valkyrie and wanting to save someone, another hint may also be the reaction she showed towards someone else who got kidnapped by the TVA, yelling at the soldiers to "help them out"). Another theory is that she already knew she was adopted, unlike Loki who found out way later than her. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but we never got to hear the actual reason why Sylvie got kidnapped. Even Renslayer didn't say a word about it.
Now I'm gonna come up with yet another theory. What if Sylvie didn't really have a nexus event in the first place how we know it? In the final episode, Kang has said that he has planned out everything beforehand so both Loki and Sylvie would end up right in front of him. Did Kang's plan also possibly involve him getting killed by Sylvie? Hear me out: We don't actually know if the Kang we saw in episode 6 is the actual 'nice' Kang and not one of his evil variants. He has already talked about 'reincarnation', so who says that after ending the first universial war, Kang didn't reincarnate into someone with an unpure heart (aka, one of his evil variants)? That'd mean that the real Kang would have been killed and the Kang we've seen in the finale is actually an evil version that simply lied to both Loki and Sylvie. Besides that, we also don't know if Kang actually had that 'point' where he didn't know what would happen next. The show revolves a whole lot around trust, not only regarding the characters, but also the viewers. Who's to say that Kang said the truth? Maybe he planned it all out: He created the TVA, let Sylvie get kidnapped and therefore give her a reason to hunt after Kang, who in return could reincarnate if he got killed OR get killed and therefore give his other variants a possibility to conquer the universes yet again. Don't you think that it was kinda suspicious that Sylvie escaped so easily out of Renslayer's hands? The one person who's probably closest to Kang? (Even though, yes, she doesn't know who he is but Renslayer seems to play a very important role in his plan). What if the Kang we saw was the nice Kang though? Would he plan everything up to a point where another universial war would break out because he might know that there is indeed something/someone out there who could end it and therefore, possibly end Kang as a whole or create a new kind of system revolving around the universe? And therefore, get rid of the possibility of another universial war happening? Who knows. I am definitely overthinking and reaching at this point. One more thing that stood out to me while thinking about the episode again today (which kinda weighs more into my theory of Sylvie being a keypoint (or rather a puppet) in this plan): Kang has talked about his Tempad and that he knew that he would need it to have enough energy. But for what? Yes, his initial idea was to give it to Loki and Sylvie to rule over the TVA, but what if it was supposed to be used for another reason? Sylvie used it to transport Loki back to the TVA (though I kinda think he was accidentally transported to another timeline, hence the reactions of both Mobius and Hunter B-15) and therefore get rid of the only thing that could prevent Sylvie from killing Kang. The Tempad was used to secure Sylvie's path and therefore eradicated Kang's only option of safety. You can see the Tempad loosing it's glow after Kang was killed, possibly due to Kang himself being the origin of it's energy. But maybe, it only had enough energy for one specific action: getting rid of Kang's protection. I do think that Sylvie is now stuck at this place and somehow has to find a way back to Loki's reality. The Tempad clearly doesn't work anymore (at least in my opinion) and there was quite a long shot showing the Tempad up close, which is kinda suspicious tbh. Also, something regarding Sylvie's unanswered nexus event feels kinda odd to me, too.
My theory in conclusion: Sylvie (and Loki) are unconciously helping Kang with his plan (a big, big, BIG plan). They're his puppets, especially Sylvie, because she's the one who created the Multiverse to begin with. Think about Loki, who was said to be manipulated by Thanos in Avengers? It's basically the same train of thoughts.
Sylvie does not take Kang's offer into consideration
To be honest, this was something to be absolutely expected of her. Sylvie was kidnapped as a child, taken away from her home and family, and had to grow up in countless apocalypses where she could never form a real bond with anybody because she knew that those people were all going to die anyway. (Please don't judge me if I got that wrong, maybe I understood the next thing wrong? Idk, if so, I'm very sorry) She revealed that she was kidnapped way before Loki was even born (something I have to think about, too, because, if Loki is the actual Loki the other variants are based off, why did he exist after Sylvie? Wouldn't that make him a variant of Sylvie instead? Idk timelines and parallel universes are hard to understand for me :') I'm kinda stoopid ), therefore she must've had spent several decades of her life running away. She had no life at all. Her only goal was to bring down the TVA and whoever is behind it, driven by pure rage, seeking out revenge for stealing her life and basically forbidding her existence. And now that she has found said person, the only thing that'd be right for her character would be to go for the kill. As immoral as it may sound, it is the only thing that makes sense. And I am actually very happy that Sylvie's goals didn't change besides the fact that she did indeed soften up a little and has gotten someone really close to her. In contrary, it makes sense for Loki to do the exact opposite. His goals have changed. He does not act the way he did in Thor or Avengers anymore. He has found another goal for himself: to make Sylvie feel alright. He has had immense character growth and didn't take a chance to change his goals back in the Thor movies or in Avengers, (....maybe later in Thor: Ragnarok, kinda). This is exactly what I think might happen to Sylvie, too. She is at the beginning of her character arc. She doesn't take the chance to change her goal, but goes for her original goal instead. Said goal does not really have positive consequences (though, maybe it might have some? We're about to find out), which results in a so called 'negative character development', which Loki has already gone through. I think that Sylvie is gonna grow as a character in season 2 and get a positive character development in addition, just like Loki did. I highly doubt that she's gonna become the antagonist, it does not make sense at this point.
Why does she not take Kang's offer (besides her very obvious intention ofc)? That leads straight (or not so straight, pun intended) to the next thing I wanna talk about. Sylvie's distrust in everything and everyone. Besides not wanting to let other people go through what she has been gone through and wanting to let people have a free will, she also does not trust Kang with his offer of 'ruling' the timeline. And it might be because she also does not trust the one she'd be ruling with: Loki.
Why does Sylvie not trust Loki?
I don't even have a specific answer to that, except that Sylvie has an incredibly thick wall built up around her. Loki has always been portrayed as the one you should not trust because he's known for backstabbing people. Loki could have thought the same about Sylvie, but he didn't. Due to his character arc, he himself has learned to trust other people and tries to redeem himself with making himself a person others can trust (He may project that onto Sylvie, meaning that he puts his trust into a Loki variant and therefore in himself, too). You can connect that fact with both Sylvie and Mobius. They're both people who are incredibly important to Loki. He wants them to trust him. He openly told Sylvie about his mistakes and tells her that he's not that person anymore. Sylvie on the other hand does not trust that easily and is - in my opinion - a very important key regarding Loki's character development. It is incredibly hard for Sylvie to trust others (probably due to her trauma) and it therefore creates a very difficult situation for Loki, where he has to 'prove' himself as trustworthy. It's basically about 'trusting yourself' if you put it that way. It's something Loki has to learn about himself: not betraying the trust of others. Sylvie might have to learn something like this, too: learning to trust someone else. It's kinda like a two sided coin - one side is about putting trust in others, whereas the other is about gaining trust from others (and what you do with it). (Good) Relationships in general are always based off trust and honesty. So in order for them to be able to have healthy relationships with others and themselves, they have to learn about trust within themselves (I hope you understand my point, I got carried away, sorry). Loki started to trust Sylvie very easily (maybe because of love? Maybe because of something else? There are still a lot of unanswered questions) whereas Sylvie doesn't trust Loki very easily. Sylvie's character arc might (hopefully) carry on with this topic in the next season.
Was that kiss initiated due to emotional or practical reasons?
Kinda both, somehow. I do think that Sylvie used the kiss to her advantage but you can also clearly see how moved she is while hearing Loki's words. Facial expressions are insanely important when it comes to acting and both Tom and Sophia delivered perfectly. You might've already heard of the quote "The eyes tell more than words could ever say". Look at Sylvie's face when Loki tells her that he wants her to be okay. She is teary eyed, sighs even. She is indeed touched by his words and I strongly think that Sylvie also has non-platonic feelings for Loki, despite barely showing anything.
Here's a snippet out of an interview with Sophia:

Both Sylvie and Loki are said to be people who can not trust others. They both have a vulnerable side though. Loki clearly showed that several times when with Sylvie (singing to her, the blanket scene, the comfort scene in the room of the timekeepers, the confession of wanting her to be okay) and is also shown incredibly vulnerable at the end of episode 6: there are several shots showing him, crying. Sure, we have already seen Loki cry a few times beforehand but this time, it's different. He cries because the one person he is the most vulnerable with doesn't trust him, and that does hurt like hell. By the way, if you look at the close-up shot of Sylvie after she yeeted Loki back into the TVA, you can see pain in her eyes, too. But that pain quickly shifts into rage and determination. Something that I have to admit was incredibly well executed by Sophia and the people who directed this shot. Sylvie does show her vulnerable side for a brief moment before putting up her walls again and reaching for her goal.
In conclusion: I think Sylvie initiated the kiss as an emotional response to Loki's words but also used it to distract him to be able to kick him back into the TVA at the same time. Keep in mind that it was because he was in her way of fullfilling her goal. She didn't want to kill or hurt him, so she sent him away instead. So, yes, I think the kiss had both emotional and practical intentions.
Did Sylvie betray Loki?
Even though it really felt like she betrayed him, she didn't. Let me tell you why:
Loki knew exactly what Sylvie was gonna do after reaching the person behind the TVA. Loki supported her all the way up until Kang suggested a deal to them, that's where Loki's and Sylvie's paths divided. Loki is a very smart character, he outsmarts a lot of Marvel characters and therefore I think it's very in character for him to consider one part of the deal and outweigh the pros and cons. Not because he wants the throne, no, but because he wants Sylvie to be okay. A universial war could lead to countless casualties - possibly those people close around him, so of course he would want to keep her safe through that decision. Making them both rulers over the TVA and the sacred timeline would probably guarantee a strong protection from several threats. Also, maybe he thought about the possibility of Sylvie regretting her decision (which she clearly did in the end) and wanted to protect her from even more emotional pain. But as we know, Sylvie's intention has always been laid out in front of her and it didn't change. Loki knew what choice she was going to make and merely tried to change her way - without being successfull.
I don't really know what to think about this scene though. To me, it doesn't meet the requirements of a 'betrayal' but at the same time it does feel like one. It's very difficult to explain :'D
Also, I've seen some people asking themselves how or if Loki will ever be able to forgive Sylvie for making her decision. Let me assure you one thing: he will forgive her. He has said it himself: "I know what you're feeling, I know what you're going through". He has been at Sylvie's point, too. Not only once, but several times already. He seems to have learned from his mistakes, Sylvie has yet to do so. ("I betrayed everyone I've ever loved" is a line to keep in mind now, too. Maybe it could even be projected onto Sylvie this time, because Loki is indeed very dear to her) If there's someone out there who can empathise with Sylvie the most, it is Loki.
Why would Sylvie straight up cause another Universial War?
As I already said. Sylvie's arc is a negative character arc. It does not end well and causes a lot of chaos. Think about Peter Quill in Infinity War and his rage moment on Titan. They could have had the infinity gauntlet way before but Peter got emotional (understandable) and therefore destroyed the chance of an early good ending. The same happened with Sylvie. Her decision was mostly emotional, but also practical on the other hand (giving people free will and freedom). She will face the consequences and I'm pretty sure she's gonna redeem herself and tries to help fix the big mess she has caused.
Sylvie's breakdown
Another scene that was absolutely brilliant was the scene after Sylvie has killed Kang. She backs off slowly and then slumps to the ground, breathing heavily (now that I think about it, I think she even started to cry). She has waited for this moment her whole life, but now that it's done, it kinda feels like she didn't exactly get what she needed. Hunter B-15 has already mentioned it before that Sylvie needs to hunt the person behind the TVA down, unlike Renslayer, who only wants to find out who it really is. Although Sylvie might have recognized that this wasn't everything she needed at this point. We already got to know that she didn't have a clue what to do after she's done with the TVA. She didn't have a goal beyond that. And now that she has reached the point where she is clueless, she might have recognized what she really needed beyond finishing her goal: friends, a life, literally anything that doesn't make her feel alone. And she literally just kicked that one thing away from her. Loki, the one person who has been closest to her and gave her the feeling of not being alone anymore, the feeling of having a friend (or someone more than a friend), has been pushed away by herself. I think that in this exact moment where she sinks to the ground she recognizes that not trusting Loki was a mistake this time and that revenge isn't enough to satisfy her forever.
But maybe that one thing that will satisfy her for a long time is something she's returning back to in season 2. I am so excited to see her again and find out more about Sylvie's character!
Thank you so much for reading this! If you want to add something to this list or correct something or anything, feel free to do so. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Sylvie's character in the finale and what you think might happen with her in season 2 :) see y'all, stay safe and have a nice day/night!

Take Me Away (Helmut Zemo x F!SE Asian!Plus Size! Reader) [PART 1]
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1244
Description: The unassuming prison librarian catches Zemo's attention. When he escapes, she could take him back to prison. But does she?
Author's Note: Guess who's finally sliding in with their Daniel Brühl character fic debut? I was going to write all the parts first and post them all together, but I don't even know how long I want this to be and which events from the show I'm including. Hopefully uploading in chapters like this will also motivate me to write more and eventually create a routine (*laugh cries in I write whenever the fuck I feel like it*)
Special thanks to @unlikelymilliner for that post about Zemo's books, because only God knows how long I'd be looking for the title of that Machiavelli book.
Warnings: Mentions of experimentation
(Y/N) didn't think she would ever fall in love with a criminal.
She lived a good deal of her life under the oppressive thumb of a group of them.
A remnant of that past remained in the form of what was essentially a shock collar strapped around her neck as part of one of their sick experiments.
Thankfully, the strip of velvet sent electrical jolts only when an attempt was made to remove the device.
No one knew the story behind it, save for one man.
She quickly took note of him the moment he walked into the library. Several inmates had already come in and left, but none had paid her any mind. She didn't expect them to. They came to get their books and went about their day. But there was one person who left an impression.
He wasn't intimidating like most other inmates. In fact, she was shocked to discover he was in solitary confinement.
It helped immensely that he was easy on the eyes, though she knew better than to let something like that put her at ease. That's how they get you.
Due to his status, he wasn’t allowed around other prisoners. It was just the two of them, plus the guard who stood by while he browsed the non-fiction section.
She greeted the man, just as she would anyone else, and received a small grin in return.
Dorothy, the head librarian, had given (Y/N) the task of updating the book logs since the computer was down the previous day.
The latter logged in with her newly acquired employee ID and got to work inputting names, ISBNs and book titles.
Halfway through the list, she sensed someone in front of her.
When she looked up from the computer screen, the man who came in stood at the other side of the big walnut desk, a book in his hands.
The first thing she saw was a pair of brown eyes that turned gold when the fluorescent lights hit them at a certain angle. The second was a mild-mannered aura, similar to the one she’d seen earlier. Something about his face seemed different this time. It almost reminded her of herself
She wouldn't have picked up on it unless she stared enough at both, which is what she was doing.
Unbeknownst to her, he'd spoken.
"Are you new here?" he inquired again.
His inflection showed no signs of incredulousness, simply curiosity.
Over the course of her working at the library, she would have the displeasure of prisoners telling her off when she politely asked them to keep noise at a minimum or leaving the seating areas in disarray. While she only knew this man for all of two minutes, (Y/N) could see he wasn't going to cause her trouble.
She said, shyly. "Today's my first day."
Now that they were engaged in conversation, she observed a few more things about him: he had short, light brown hair, most of which was straight, save for the curl framing one side of his pale face.
When he smiled, his lips didn't take on the shape of a crescent, as one's normally would. Instead, they formed a soft "w".
He had an accent. From where, she couldn't place. Russia? Germany?
"Ah... well," he placed his book on the countertop and slid it towards her. "It's nice to see a different face, especially a kind one."
Her cheeks got warm, a tinge of pink upon them. Thankfully, her tan complexion made it nearly impossible to detect. Yet, somehow, she thinks he did.
She averted her gaze, and in doing so, she remembered what she was supposed to be doing.
"Let me just log your books real quick," she slipped a chart from the bottom of the four-paper pile on top of the one she was transcribing earlier.
The book was Fortuna ist ein Reissender Fluss by Roger D. Masters. From what she could tell, it was about Leonardo Da Vinci's and Niccolò Machiavelli's quest to turn Florence, Italy into a seaport.
Intellectual, she thought to herself while writing down the book information.
"Have you read Machiavelli?" he asked, eyebrows raised.
For the fraction of a minute, she was torn between lying and looking stupid. If she said yes, he would more than likely ask what she thinks of something she's never even read before. He would see right through her. If she said no, she would out herself as someone who was uneducated, which was true to some extent. Yet another person would see her the way she felt since she left her homeland: a girl from some faraway place barely anyone knew existed, let alone cared about. The only stories about her people she's heard from outsiders were of inhabitants who didn't go to school, only wore rags and lived in filth.
She didn't want someone who has been so decent to her so far turn against her because of these prejudices.
"No, I haven't, actually..." she replied, meekly.
He nodded a bit with a small grin. "What I find intriguing is the relevance it holds today as well as its testament to his era. I think everyone should read them."
"I'll have to look into it," she hummed curiously and turned the form towards him, setting her pen down parallel to it. "I'm always looking for something to read."
"What kind of books do you like?" he asked while writing his name and initials.
He made eye contact with her again when he was finished.
"I've read a bunch of different genres: horror, satire, poetry," her lip perked when his eyes lit up.
She felt more confident and continued, "I'm currently reading a biography on RFK. When I heard how he was sensitive, the 'odd man out' in his family... I knew I had to learn more about him. I think his empathy allowed him to see past the labels society put so much weight on, like social class and race. I like biographies and learning about certain people. Some more well-known than others."
Though she wasn't able to attend a university due to her captivity, she was lucky enough to have a grandparent who was a teacher, instilling a sense of discipline and dedication to learning. Once she got to a mainland, she read constantly. She managed to restart her education and a new life from the ground up.
"Hm," the prisoner hummed, seemingly mulling over her words. "Impressive."
He threw her another smirk, one she found charming.
"T-Thank you," she mirrored the expression, except she was sure she looked like a timid schoolgirl.
What was he doing to me? she asked herself.
The guard at the door caught both their attention.
"Hey," he said sternly to the man and tilted his head towards the hall, hinting that they have to go.
The latter nodded and turned back to the librarian, taking the book in his hands after she'd stamped and closed the back cover.
"Well, it was nice chatting with a fellow bibliophile. I hope to see you again," he glanced at her name tag. "(Y/N)."
"You as well—" she was about to refer to the log he'd signed, but he saved her the trouble.
"Helmut," he smiled again, eyes crinkling a bit and waved his book in farewell before leaving.
She watched the two men leave and read the log.
In the third column, was the name: Helmut Zemo
She swore she knew it from somewhere, but where?

Behind Closed Doors
Keanu Reeves x OFC (Emma Mathers)
Masterlist Behind Closed Doors Masterlist
Warnings- tension, again.
When In Paris
Tumblr media
The suite at the five star Parisian hotel was far more glamorous than anything Emma had ever experienced, and that was coming after an extensive flight spent on a private jet. The wonder in her eyes was unmatched, and by just looking at her face, Keanu could tell that their trip was her first time traveling in luxury. Something about the twinkle in her eyes made him want to see it more, he wanted to spoil Emma, just so he could hear that, melodic, breathless laugh that she'd emitted when they boarded the private jet, see the way her red painted lips parted in awe when they landed in magnificent Paris and be privy to the way her pretty eyes widened when they entered the suite.
Upon Miranda finding out that a new collaboration with a New York based cosmetic company would have her missing the premiere in Paris, Keanu had found himself breathing a sigh of relief. Partially because he didn't want to spend the trip, and by extension his birthday, tolerating Miranda's constant nitpicking of Emma's methods and the little insults she usually threw the girl's way. But there was another part of him, softer and more cautious about letting its intentions known, that insisted that he was actually relieved because no Miranda meant more time alone with Emma. Keanu knew that he shouldn't have been thinking like that, he was engaged and highly doubted that Matt and Poppy's nanny even returned his not-so-platonic feelings. She was young and would probably be repulsed by the idea of being tied down by a man his age, far less one with young children.
As Keanu settled into his room, the master bedroom right next to the slightly smaller room where the twins would be staying and directly across from Emma's room, he tried to push away the intrusive thoughts, only to be interrupted by none other than the subject of his wandering eyes. "Got a minute?" She smiled shyly, loosely gripping the knob of his ajar door.
"I could spare a few," he grinned brightly despite himself. For her, he'd carve time out of the busiest of schedules.
"Great," Emma blushed, noting the way his gaze roved her form, clad in a snug, white sweater and a simple pair of blue jeans, "The kids, they want to go out. I'd take them on my own, but I've never been here, and I wouldn't want to get lost." Glancing at the floor, she tucked an escaped strand behind her ear, and Keanu didn’t think he could put into words how much he wanted to be the one doing that; his thumb caressing her high cheek bone, her skin soft and warm to touch. “If you don’t have time, then-”
“No,” Keanu dropped the shirt he was holding back into the suitcase, walking around the foot of the king sized bed, collecting his leather jacket and scarf on his way towards Emma. He stopped closer to her than he should have, and with that proximity, she had to tilt her head to meet his gaze, “I have time, we could go for a walk and if I remember correctly there should be a great café about a block away. You’ll like it.”
Stunned, Emma blinked quickly, not expecting Keanu to be so readily on board the idea of going out mere hours after they’d gotten to the hotel. She had started to forget how much fun and how carefree he could be when Miranda wasn’t around and even if she knew that her opinion didn’t really matter in the scheme of things, Emma thought she preferred Keanu when he was alone.
Surprisingly, he led her towards the drawing room with his hand on the center of her back, almost weightless even as comforting warmth emanated from his palm. It was almost as if he wanted to touch her, though he knew he shouldn't.
Calling out to the kids, who came running excitedly, both still dressed to go out, Keanu swiped Emma’s camel coat from off the back of the grey, floral patterned cabriole sofa, helping her into it. His fingers brushed her shoulders through her sweater, electrifying her nerves, and when he absently passed his hands over her arms after it was on, Emma sucked in a breath, restraining herself from leaning into him, “Thank you,” she blushed, hoping he wouldn’t see it.
“Of course,” he hated having to take his hands off her and before he could stop himself, Keanu found himself wondering what it would be like if he were with Emma instead of Miranda, surely, he hadn’t known her for as long, but being with her came naturally, and as he watched her kneeling to get Poppy into her pink, fuzzy, petite coat, closing up the large plastic buttons at the front, Keanu couldn’t deny how purely familial it felt; just her, him and the children. No one moaning about how the children should stay back for the evening, telling Matt that he couldn’t wear blue on blue or making snide remarks in his ear about how the nanny was overstepping when she pecked the kids on their foreheads. Keanu liked it when Emma overstepped, when she cared for his children as if they were her own, when she lightened the mood with a joke told under her breath and when she’d, even if accidentally, showed her concern for his own wellbeing, as if he were more to her than just an employer. “Everyone ready?”
“Ready guys?” Emma turned the question to the twins as she slipped her cell into her nude colored shoulder purse, proceeding to stylishly wrap a floral scarf around her neck, adding a pop of color to her cool toned outfit. When they both nodded vigorously, bouncing in agreement, she offered her hand, giggling when Matt went for it, leaving Poppy with him, “Alright, then let's go, lead the way,” Emma beamed, turning to Keanu.
The café that Keanu had told Emma about was right where he remembered, and they were led to a table quickly by the young hostess; perk of being a celebrity. They were tucked cozily in the corner of the patio dining area, where their scenic surroundings were still visible; orange and yellow leaves peppering the sidewalk after having fallen from trees planted along the edges, while picturesque buildings on the other side of the worn brick street added to the view. A small platter of strawberries and cream macarons as well as orange and chocolate madeleines, along with two hot chocolates were enough to get Matt and Poppy settled for a while, talking and giggling amongst themselves. Emma was sitting across from him, occasionally slipping small forkfuls of French silk pie into her mouth as she drank in the beauty of city, “Do you like it?” Keanu interrupted her thoughts, just as she was setting her latte down, her cherry red lipstick lightly staining the delicate china.
“The coffee, the chocolate or Paris?” She held his gaze, tongue darting out ever so slightly to moisten her lips, just before she brought the silverware to her mouth again, a playful glimmer dancing in her eyes. She was so, so beautiful, and Keanu had caught himself staring a few too many times.
Smile still evident, he shifted around a sliver of his moose cake, the plate streaked with pink, white and brown, trying not to fumble on his words. Emma didn’t really make him nervous per say, it was quite the opposite actually, Keanu usually felt a comfort and ease around her that was absent in the company of most others, like she was simply encouraging him to be the best version of himself. Still, that didn’t mean he didn’t long to be close to perfection in her eyes; say all the right things at the right times, impress her because even if she didn’t make him feel like he had to, Emma made him feel like she deserved it. “All of it, Paris, the chocolate, the coffee,” he quoted in reverse.
“Its…..perfect,” inhaling, a lone shiver ran through her, and she sipped her latte again, “I’ve actually never been out of the states, so this kind of feels…….magical.” There was a childlike sparkle in her expression, something Keanu hadn’t witnessed in anyone other than children in years, at his age, there weren’t many luxuries that he hadn’t yet experienced, and despite their two years together, Keanu had yet to see anything close to that on Miranda’s face. There was a time, within the first few months of them dating where he’d strove to impress her, going any lengths just so she’d be happy with him, but by the eighth or ninth month, it became a daunting, tiring task, and Miranda didn’t seem to care what he did, as long as it was up to her expensive tastes. Emma though, there was an air about her that made Keanu feel special, like he could give her the smallest thing and she’d just be in awe.
“You’ve never travelled?” Keanu frowned, his kids had been travelling with him since they were a year old, and at that point, he didn’t think they knew a life that didn’t involve leaving their home country at least twice a year.
She nodded, tearing her gaze from across the street and casting it back towards Keanu, “Nope, not out of the states,” embarrassed, Emma drew in a soft breath from the chilly autumn air, “First we couldn’t really afford it, but even when I got older, after my mom got us in a good place, she had to save so I could go the college. I don’t mind though,” straightening her back, Emma regained her quiet confidence, “I’ve got a lot of time for that.”
“You do,” Keanu agreed, bringing his espresso to his lips, blowing on the scaling beverage before taking a long sip, “I mean, one day you’re gonna be a famous designer and you’ll get to go wherever you want.”
Laughing quietly, Emma bent her head shyly, wispy dark strands falling over her face, having escaped from her high ponytail, “I don’t know about that,” she dismissed, “I mean, its gonna take a while before I even cement myself in the L.A. fashion scene, famous…..that’s something else. It’s a nice thought though.”
“Its a great reality too,” tentatively, he reached for her hand laid on the top of the wicker table, squeezing affectionately, before catching himself and reluctantly retracting, “I’ve seen some of what you can do, those dresses your made yourself, that purple tutu you made Pop for her recital last month, you can do this Em. I know it probably doesn't mean a lot coming from me, but I believe in you.”
“I,” she stumbled on her words, astonished by his faith in her, “It actually does mean a lot to me Keanu,” Emma dragged her lower lip through her teeth, and Keanu shifted in his chair, inhaling sharply, “Thank you.”
“Anytime,” he croaked, trying to slow his breaths. It was amazing how he could go from being wonderstruck by Emma to being turned on in just seconds. She was truly an enigma, one of a kind. “You know,” he huffed, hoping to change the topic and get them talking again to steer his thoughts away from anything too perverse, “This is my favorite, here, try it.” He offered her some of his cake on his fork, encouraging Emma to lean in. So much for going for something more innocent.
Hesitating, Emma eventually leaned over the table, letting Keanu feed her a bit of the cake, moaning in pleasure at its taste. She could easily see why it was his favorite, the raspberry, vanilla and dark chocolate all melded together in her mouth to create a symphony of flavor, each one complimenting the other perfectly as the moose melted on her tongue. “That’s amazing!” And at that, Poppy and Matt started cheering about how they wanted to try it too, their faces lighting up at how delightfully sweet the creamy desert was.
Dragging his lip through his teeth, Keanu chuckled as he looked on at Emma, “You have a little….” he gestured to the corner of his mouth, only laughing louder when Emma missed several times over. “Here,” he grabbed up his napkin, reaching over the table, “Let me,” dapping the corner of her lips, Keanu eyed the way her cheeks reddened and took a chance at carelessly brushing her skin with his thumb, his ragged breath matching hers. “Em…..” Knowing that the right thing would have meant pulling away wasn’t hard knowledge to come by, but knowing how to just be Emma’s friend and boss certainly was.
Her head tilted ever so slightly to the side and Emma’s blinking slowed, roughness of his touch so inviting that she wanted it to last forever. There was something at the tip of her lips, and Keanu yearned to know what it was, perhaps permission for his feelings, indication that she returned them, but alas, their moment was cut in half when Matt spotted a walking balloon vendor across the street, him and his sister protesting loudly, clamoring about how they wanted balloons. Immediately, Keanu pulled away, collecting his bearings and discarding the napkin, as Emma averted her stare, hoping to find anything more interesting. They’d come so close to crossing a line, and Keanu knew that had they kept going, he’d have hell to pay when he returned to L.A.
Tumblr media
One Week Later The premiere had fallen exactly on Keanu’s birthday, which was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, him being gone for the day meant that Emma would have enough time to put her plan in action, but on the other, it also meant that by the time Keanu had gotten home, they kids were beat and borderline cranky. Thankfully though, Keanu had returned by half nine and neither Matt nor Poppy had fallen asleep in the cute little semi formal outfits Emma had dressed them in. As he’d walked in, flicking on the lights to illuminate the main room, looking tired and a little more down than she’d been expecting, Emma and the kids yelled excitedly, “Surprise!”
Shocked, Keanu jumped, holding his hand to his chest, speechless for a moment. Though, that, fortunately, didn’t last very long, “What is all this?” Second by second, a wide grin split his lips and his eyes scanned the room, landing on their set up on the coffee table; a layered cake, the one he’d mentioned as his favorite at the café, glasses along with a bottle of cider and a few presents, wrapped in cheerful paper with ribbons and bows adorning the top.
“It’s for you daddy!” Poppy was the first to run up to Keanu, grabbing his leg in a hug, followed only second later by Matt, who did the same. And just as he bent over, taking them into his ready arms, Emma stood from the sofa, not wanting to intrude on their moment, “Happy Birthday!” Kissing his cheek, Poppy, was sure to hug him as tightly as her little arms would allow.
“Happy Birthday daddy,” Matt followed suit, clinging to his father, playing with Keanu’s simple, black skinny tie as he hoisted them both on either side of his lips, “Do you like it? It was all Emma’s idea!”
“Well, I can’t take all the credit,” she admonished lightly when Keanu glanced to her, “I had a couple of excellent co planners,” tentatively, Emma finally approached them, her heels clicking quietly on the cream marble floors, “We just wanted to do something special for you.”
The warmth in his heart was reflected in his expression, and if his arms weren’t so full, he’d definitely lean in to pull Emma in a consuming hug, “Thank you,” it had been a while since anyone put that much effort into his birthday, the older he got, the less he’d want his family to do, and it went without saying that Miranda was never big on getting him anything more than a cushy present. In fact, usually, Keanu would be inclined to spend his birthday with just his children, watching movies with them on the sofa after a take out dinner. The quiet affairs never bothered him, he'd had enough parties and glitzy birthdays in his twenties and thirties, and was wholly ready to continue on with smaller, more intimate ones.
When he set the kids down, Keanu placed a hand on her elbow, still an arm's length away, leaning in to peck her cheek, "This is amazing, I can't tell you how much it means." When Keanu pulled away, despite his efforts not to stare, he found himself doing it anyway, absorbing the way her burnt orange sweater dress hugged every curve perfectly, boasting her legs when the hem cut off mid thigh. Her hair fell in voluminous waves down to the center of Emma’s back, framing her delicate features, and her simple, clean cut make-up accentuated her full lips and dark eyes. “And you,” Keanu stuttered, affectionately squeezed her elbow, “Look beautiful.”
Caught off guard, Emma blinked quickly, her deep burgundy lips moving to form words but never quite making it through any. “Oh!” A wider smile threatened to break through just as the apples of her cheeks unintentionally went red, “Thank you,” she took a step back and Keanu took that as a sign to reluctantly retract his touch. “Uh,” stuttering again, she looked around wildly, not really sure who’d done the initial overstepping but knowing that someone had to put an end to it, “Why don’t we sit? Yeah, you still have to blow out your candles and open your presents.”
“We can’t wait for you to see what we got you daddy!” Poppy jumped excitedly, a few raven strands escaping the braid Emma had put her hair in, falling over her face as she clapped small her hands. Without settling down in the slightest, she grabbed Keanu’s hand, the size of hers almost muted by his larger, rougher one as Poppy pulled her father towards the sofa, urging him to sit before hopping into his lap. Looking on, Emma offered her hand to Matt, leading him to the chair as well, trying not to think of how much she wanted something like that one day. The real deal, not just a pseudo family, where it felt like she was getting paid to play house, but a husband with children of her own who adored her as much as Matt and Poppy did Keanu.
Leaving a healthy, safe distance between them, Emma claimed a spot on the long sofa, chuckling when Matt mirrored his sister and situated himself in her lap, squirming in anticipation. “So,” securing the boy, she wrapped a slender arm around him, gently flattening her palm to his chest so he wouldn’t fall with all the movement he was doing, “What’ll it be birthday boy? Cake or presents first?”
“What do you two think?” Keanu bent forward to look at both his children, laughing softly when they both bounced in their places, cheering that he go with cake first. “Cake it is,” he determined, and soon after, Emma was reaching for the lighter on the table, keeping Matt away from the flame as she lit the tall candles strategically sunken into the cake, among the cluster of raspberries decorating the top. When all five were lit, Emma and the kids sang happy birthday, clapping when he blew out the candles. Afterwards, she cut them each a slice, and between bites, they moved on with presents.
Up first was the one that Emma had helped organize for Matt and Poppy to give him; they had done most of the the work while she’d simply provided guidance and occasionally, assistance. They’d chosen to make their father a picture frame, using popsicle sticks and colorful craft items, and it had turned out wonderfully, the neatly arranged painted, sticks decorated with buttons, cut out shapes made of plastic, and ribbon had a picture of Keanu and the twins on the inside. “I love it!” He hugged them tight, kissing their heads, still staring at his present. Even off to the side, Emma could see the softness in his eyes, the warmth clinging to his features, there wasn’t the slightest bit of untruth when Keanu said he’d loved the gift, and she admired him for it. A celebrity, who could probably buy anything he wanted at any given moment, appreciating a sweet, handmade gift as if the world had been served on a silver platter. “This is the best present ever!” Keanu hugged them again, keeping Matt and Poppy close.
It was only when he’d released them, did Emma present him with her gift, wrapped up in a blue and white polka dot box, held closed by white silk ribbon, “This one is from me,” her shy smile faltered when their hands touched, and she he'd her breath, hoping he’d like it.
Giving the edge of the ribbon a tug, Keanu undid the bow, opening the box. His jaw hung slack in breathless awe, and trying to be as gentle as possible, he reached into the box’s depths, producing an exact replica of the bike he rode to work almost every morning. It had been spray painted in the exact same colors, carried a downsized version of the very same details and even had a tiny license plate with his initials engraved onto it, “Em…” he gasped, running his fingers over the perfectly mimicked details, “This is….wow,” he huffed a chuckled.
Dragging her lip through her teeth, Emma searched his features, “Do you like it?” She probed nervously.
“Like it?” He glanced up at her, his emotions spilling out in just the way he looked at her, “I love it,” he chuckled louder, “Emma,” Keanu set his gift down on the coffee table, reaching for her bare knee with the hand that wasn’t holding Poppy close, “It’s so thoughtful of you.” The smile brightened his rugged, somewhat tired features as he added, "I love it."
"Great," Emma tried not to look him straight in the eye, knowing if she did, she might be wholly responsible for what happened next. His touch, warm on her thigh, squeezing affectionately, sent shivers up her spine and Emma was caught between wondering how things might have escalated if they were alone and thinking that it was time to pull away. "I'm glad you like it," even if she knew she'd already let his touch linger for far too long, Emma placed her hand over his, and faintly, she heard Keanu's breath hitch as his eyes widened slightly.
They both knew that at that point, their position wasn't unintentional, yet, before either of them could act, they were interrupted by Poppy stretching sleepily, admitting that she was tired. In an instant, whenever they were sharing had been broken, the moment was gone. Leaving them blinking quickly, seemingly emerging from a trance, and prompting them to get the kids ready for bed.
That night, Keanu helped Emma out with bedtime rituals, sticking around during bath time all the way through until they informed him that they wanted Emma to read to them before lights out. It was nearly eleven when she finally emerged from the hallway, shoes clicking softly until she finally decided that they were too much noise, nudging them off with her toes and resuming her small stature. “Hey,” she smiled tightly, calling Keanu’s attention as he stood at the floor to ceiling window, nursing something far stiffer than cider, the glittering lights of illuminated the Eiffel Tower casting a yellow glow on his face, the only thing brightening the room after he’d dimmed the lights.
“Hi,” he grinned widely, the way he always did when Emma walked into the room, “Whiskey?” He offered, moving to the mini bar, ready to get her a drink.
“Sure,” in minutes, Keanu was approaching her, offering Emma the glass he’d gotten, their fingers once again brushing during the hand off. That time, they both just huffed shyly, pretending to ignore it as they approached the window, staring in silence for a while, until Keanu scoffed a chuckle. “What?” Turning to him, Emma observed his profile, wondering if people were even supposed to be made that perfect.
“Its just,” shrugging, Keanu punctuated his words with a brief sip of his drink, not even hissing at its strength, “It’s almost over. Another year gone.” He seemed pensive, his thoughts colliding and confusing him; she’d never seen him in that light and all Emma wanted to do was help.
The alcohol burnt her throat as it slid down, and unlike Keanu, it showed on Emma’s face, though, it created a familiar warmth in her belly, one that she liked; even if she was quickly going to learn that it wasn’t just breaking the autumn chill, but also ebbing away her inhibitions. “You sound disappointed,” and when Keanu didn’t offer a response, she gently pressed, “Are you?”
Shaking his head, Keanu downed the rest of his whiskey, wincing slightly and discarding his glass on the top of a nearby accent chest, slipping his hands into his pockets as he turned to face her. His tie was loosened at the neck and before the twins’ bath, Keanu had discarded his blazer on the chair nearby. He was striking, even when he was close to disheveled. “I don’t know,” the disconcertment echoed in his tone, “Do you ever think that you’re doing the right thing, but then…...there’s one little change, and suddenly it feels like you’re making a huge mistake?”
Pulling her lower lip between her teeth, Emma tried to decipher the true meaning behind his words, opting for an analogy when she couldn’t, “When I first started college, I knew exactly what I wanted; I wanted to be a designer,” she smiled wistfully, “And my nana always taught me to go after what I wanted, even if it was silly to everyone else. So I started fashion school, but then the fees started to take a toll on my mom’s finances, and even if I got two part time jobs, it still didn’t save me from starting to sink.” Emma sighed deeply, looking out towards the city again, “The circumstances changed, or maybe I just noticed them for the first time, and suddenly, going to fashion school seemed selfish, like I’d made a terrible decision, a huge mistake. But when I told my nana what I was thinking, she asked me where I saw myself in ten years and……..that’s how I knew I had to stay.”
Knitting his brows, Keanu seemed more perplexed than when they’d started their conversation, “I don’t understand,” his voice was gruff and low and he hung on, waiting for her explanation,
Sighing, Emma’s contemplative soiree softened, “I guess it meant, if you’re sure about something, if you know it’s right in your heart, then even if things get in the way, you’ll find your way back to it. We’re constantly searching for happiness, and what’s right is always so……subjective. But if you know it's right in here,” stepping closer, Emma gently tapped Keanu’s chest, “Then even if it wavers here,” her cool fingers rose to his temple, “You’ll always go back to it.” Like Keanu, Emma finished off her drink, leaning past him to leave her glass next to his, her other hand still on his face, then cupping his cheek.
“What if……” He mulled on his words, letting them rattle around in his mind fitfully before spilling, “What if what makes me happy, and what’s right in here,” he reached out, pressing two fingers to the center of Y/n’s chest, just above her breasts though still where he could feel her heartbeat, “Are two different things?”
A lump had settled in her throat and a minute part of Y/n knew where things were going, while everywhere else screamed that they shouldn’t have gotten there in the first place. Keanu was her boss, her engaged boss. Yet still, she couldn’t find it in herself to tear her hand away from his face, or push him off her. “They’re always the same thing,” sparing the city of love one last glance, Emma shifted her sights to Keanu, stoking the apple of his cheek, marveling at the way he tilted into the softness of her hand and barely noticing the way his hand had slid up to cup her neck. “Maybe you’re confused right now, but they're always the same.”
“I’m so confused right now,” Keanu confessed, closing the final inches of space. They were lost in each other’s stares and at that point, there was probably nothing in the world that could push them apart. With his hand on her neck, she could feel his callouses and his warmth, radiating, doing more than the finest spirits ever could. The cloud of air between them was tainted with the aroma of expensive booze, still clinging to their hot breaths, mingling with the smell of smoked cigarettes and the alluring fragrance of Emma’s perfume. With every exhale, their chests touched, ever so slightly.
“What do you want?” Emma nudged, licking her lips when Keanu’s face drew closer, tilting her head so she’d grant him access, anticipating what would happen next.
“I want…….” He furrowed his brows again, “I want to be happy.”
“Then be happy,” and that was all it took; the final thread snapped and her words were the permission he’d been seeking. And though, all along, Emma sensed it would happen, when Keanu’s lips were finally laid on hers, she was completely and utterly surprised. They started slow, locking and moving in tandem at a most leisurely pace, though as the pair felt each other out, Keanu’s free hand found the dip of Emma’s waist while she clutched a fistful of his shirt, the silky fabric wrinkling in her grasp, the air took on a new heat and their kiss grew steamy. Six months worth of almosts and boiling tension just swirled around them, pressing them together, and when his tongue broke past her lips, sliding over hers, Emma moaned into Keanu’s mouth.
No one had ever tasted like that, like their lips were meant to spar with hers, no hands ever fit so well on her body. Wrapping his tie around her fist, Emma yanked him closer and they stumbled back. By then their longer, passionate kisses were punctuated by shorter, sweeter pecks, and all she wanted was for him to hoist her up into his strong arms and press her against the cold glass.
Then it hit her; the criminality of what they were doing. Miranda already hated her, and she was going to marry Keanu. That make out session alone was putting her job on the line, the job that she so desperately needed. Logic kicked in and without warning, Emma was letting go of Keanu’s tie and pushing him away. He looked just as frayed as she was, and even a little hurt, “We shouldn’t…...this is wrong. We can’t do this,” Her whispered words were more to convince herself, and before Keanu could respond, Emma was apologizing, turning away from him and scuttling out of the room.
“Em,” he tried to call after her, but it was too late, Emma was already gone, and Keanu had a feeling that things had just gotten way more complicated than he could have ever imagine.

The most sweetest thing(Yandere Trey x reader)
Tumblr media
Thank you to @swirly-writes for sending me yandere prompt from which I gained my inspiration
BAKERY BOIS BIRTHDAY! NO DENIAL IN SAYING HE'S MY FAVORITE IN HEARTSBYUL!😍🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
A new bakery opened up in town, it's popularity sky risen in a short amount of time. It was known for its sweets that taste like another food entirely. An astounding feet something that no one could understand how he did it, almost like magic.
Said baker and owner named Trey Clover was deemed a master at what he did. His smiles toward customers who would enter where his pearly white teeth would show had any girl fall for him instantly. He wouldn't pay them any mind though, he was only focused on making his bakery a success that was until he met someone that changed his goal.
It wasn't as crowded in the morning when he first opens the shop. No one would come in until about three hours later. That is until one day she did.
Her name was Y/n who was beautiful in looks standards but with an expression of apathy on her face you'd think she was nothing more than a doll. Trey had heard her enter with the bell above the door alerting him and immediately went to the counter to serve her.
At first he was surprised seeing such a beautiful young lady enter his shop, he couldn't even deny the blush that was visible on his face. Something about her seemed off though as he examined her for a quick second he noticed how empty she looked. He didn't know why but it did make him a bit curious.
When he caught himself staring for awhile he cleared his throat a little and put on his best smile.
"Hello, Ms. Is there something I can get you?"
"A slice of cake."
"And what would you like it to taste like?"
"Nothing the way it is would be just fine."
This answer actually surprised him seeing as people come here for desserts that taste like whole other foods. No one ever asks for the things he makes himself without the help of his magic.
His bewildered expression didn't go unnoticed by the female in front of him as she thought about how easily his expression changed with her order. She assumed he didn't get orders like hers often.
"Ah, coming right up Ms."
He wouldn't admit it but he was actually giddy for once like he wanted to be famous for his sweets in general, he did run a bakery after all. He served it to her and she ate it inside the small cafe like place.
He actually pretended to clean the counters while she indulged herself with the blank expression she came in with. He couldn't deny the anxiety pounding in his heart when he saw the fork come up to her lips as she took a bite.
That's when he saw it. A small smile grace her angelic features. He was sure it was real and rare at that, but he couldn't believe nor get it out of his head. From that day forward she started to come in around opening time and Trey would anticipate meeting with her. She would order different sweets all tasting how Trey would make it and bringing a smile to her face that Trey would long to see. Energizing him every morning and keeping him eager to see the sun rise on the next day.
After about the first five meetings with him she gave him her name, Y/n L/n. As nice as it sounded to roll off his tongue hearing her repeat his name was far more appealing. They would now exchange more conversations with one another in the mornings that was barren and empty with no other customers. She would wait for Trey to make a sweet she had asked for that he didn't have in stock already which left some time to conversate.
She actually brought up how he didn't mention her emotional detachment not once.
"Everyone has their reasons for who they are I wouldn't want you to have to explain yourself just for the sake of my curiosity."
"Th -thank you." That's the first time he heard her stutter before, he found it cute.
"To be honest I really like your sweets, they are divine, and I can't help but feel happy when I eat them." Her words offered Trey to chuckle a little seeing a small smile on Y/n's face he could feel his heart beat faster.
So he responded with,
"Keep smiling like that. It makes my heart happy."
🥳🥳🥳 . 🥳🥳🥳 . 🥳🥳🥳 .🥳🥳
Of course not all good things come to an end. Trey had gotten closer with Y/n and knew she was not the apathetic girl he first saw, he was able to decipher her feelings a lot better. She was shy, kind, polite, and virtually loved his sweets. With how she was raised by a high classed family that undermines women expressing themselves he could understand the general picture of why she had an apathetic look on her face half the time.
It did anger him to some extent but at the same time if he had seen her smile so often it wouldn't be so precious as when he had first met her. The fact that she likes his desserts for what they are also stood out to him as what made her different. There were so many things Trey could list in his head that would entail why he had fallen for the lovely lady that entered his shop every morning.
At this point he was head over heels for her awaiting to bake any treat the girl asked for the very next day. Until she didn't come one morning and that had him worried.
'What could possibly be holding her from coming here? She never misses a day.'
Questions and inquiries ran through Trey's head, running a hand through his green hair throughout the morning up until he heard the bell ring. It caught his attention except it wasn't her, it was just a normal group of customers that came a few hours after the store opened. He hadn't realized how long he had been standing there.
It was going to be a long day.
. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 .🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 .🥳🥳🥳🥳
Finally the day was almost done, at least in Trey's head he praised being able to close the store. His mind was still running rampant on not seeing the sweet angel that would bless his morning with a ray of sunshine and motivate him to move on with the day.
He sighed with exhaustion seeing as everyone always ordered their dessert to taste different which meant no breaks on using his magic.
As he pushed up his glasses the little bell above the door leading in rang again. He took a breath and plastered on a fake smile to hide his exhaustion. It was a couple that came in, he couldn't hide his shock though when he saw the female paired with a man.
She didn't look happy as she did the previous morning with anticipation to try his sweets. Instead she had the expressionless face that she usually had except it looked more sad. Trey had gotten better at reading her emotions often over the course of their encounters. She was wearing an expensive dress which contrasted with her casual clothing. Of course Trey thought she looked stunning, but the look on her face wasn't making it very complete.
He didn't realize he was staring for a while as the couple had already stopped at the counter. The man cleared cleared his throat obnoxiously and Trey could already tell he was someone already unfavorable to him.
"What would you like sir?"
When he ordered Trey had to try hard not to let his smile falter, clenching his fists behind the counter in agitation. He took a quick glance over at Y/n who had avoided his gaze and looked as though she was repressing a frown for an empty look instead. It was like she was pretending not to know him which he couldn't deny did sting quite a bit. Trey being the calculating person he is went along with the charade as he deduced it had to do something with the man next to her.
"And for you Ms.?" As soon as the man had finished he glanced over at Y/n and secretly winked at her.
"Ah, for her just a dark coffee is fine. You've look like you've been gaining more weight recently which is unbecoming of you my dear fiancee. So make it taste like a salad please."
Trey couldn't help but looked toward Y/n who looked like she wanted to speak but shut her mouth immediately after opening. It definitely rubbed him the wrong way, not only was this guy arrogant and rude, he blatantly insulted his angel on her weight of all things when she looked as though she hadn't gained anything. Not only that but he was going to be married to her! The world was unfair and hell had frozen over with such a man like that Trey could only imagine how miserable Y/n already was by the look on her face. She always loved his sweets and only ordered that when she came, and he would always adore the smile adorned on her face that would shine light brighter than a sunrise in the Afterglow Savanna.. He decided to at least try and speak up for her.
"Excuse me sir but that doesn't look like what your fiancee wanted to order." The venom in his voice when he mentioned her partnership with the man was clear as day.
"I don't recall asking for your opinion sir, I choose what's best for my future wife she is one of a kind in her looks and I want to keep it that way." Trey's entire body flinched seething with rage as he stayed in his place and smile visibly twitched into a frown.
He did learn to keep his mouth shut and have patience, if serving under the former dorm leader back in his NRC school years taught him anything it was that first and foremost losing your cool wouldn't do any good.
He apologized maintaining a cool facade before going to the kitchen. Where he could quietly say a few profanities to himself. As he did almost finished the order with all that was left being to change the taste with his magic, he considered changing the flavor the man had ordered on her coffee.
With a wave of his pen it tasted just like the cakes she'd ask for on the usual mornings. Serving their food to them both he kept his golden eyes on her reaction when she tasted it.
Her eyes did in fact widen with shock not expecting sweetness to touch her tongue afterall. It caught the attention of the young man who had asked her what was wrong. She quickly fixed the look on her face to go back to expressionless.
"Nothing it just amazes, the amount of talent this baker has. It really does taste different." Her words were enough to send his heart up in the air like fireworks.
He could see the light coming back in her eyes again. It gave him life he cherished it and begun to crave it.
🥳🥳🥳 . 🥳🥳🥳 . 🥳🥳🥳
Over the next couple of days the same routine occurred. She'd come in with her husband to be and he'd ask for different things. All at different times of the day though, that part wasn't consistent. Trey believed he was hoping for Y/n to gain more interest in eating healthier even though Y/n told him when she came to the bakery it was her first time eating sweets.
He did notice over the pass few days even with him secretly changing the taste to something sweet her eyes were getting duller. She no longer smiled like she once did before.
So once he heard yelling outside his shop before closing time after yet another day, he took a peek through the glass windows near the entrance. It was Y/n and that man with not a single soul to be seen. Except her eyes were beyond what is considered life like.
It was emotionless and still empty would be a better definition. The man was yelling at her, he couldn't hear why but it didn't matter. She heard a few brief words about her not wanting to marry him and the situation was easily pieced together in Trey's mind.
He saw the man's rage and his own was overflowing. Not to mention when he came inside and he finally saw her. Still in a beautiful dress, but with a bruise on her cheek. He was about a second from killing the man across from him.
Trey was a gentleman meaning he'd never hit a lady even if they cheated or whatever the case. He didn't have to do any of that because she denied his marriage. More than likely she was quiet and shy when she told the man.
Lucky for Trey he was just given even more of a reason to kill him. Pretending everything to be fine when he ordered. As Trey went in the kitchen yet again he changed up his usual ingredients for a few more deadlier ones.
It didn't take long for the one of the two to fall asleep peacefully and the other to have a face full of cake taking his last bite of anything he'll ever eat again. Might as well make good use of all NRC has taught him afterall.
🥳🥳🥳 . 🥳🥳🥳 . 🥳🥳🥳 .
"Oh, I see your up." A pleased smile came on to his face as he walked into the upstairs room of the bakery.
She sat up from the bed she was resting in still feeling her mind hazy and the bruise on her cheek aching.
"Trey? What happened where's Dylan and-" She was already wide awake and asking for information on what had occurred.
"Whoa, whoa, calm down I talked to him and he said he'll cut off the marriage. Okay? I managed to convince him since he loves to come here to eat so much I gave him a recipe he wouldn't forget. 'He was going to make millions off of it', so he said. He had no need for your families riches anymore."
"Wha? But that doesn't make much sense." She was trying hard to process the information but the headache she had made it hard.
"Hey it's okay, it's okay. I know it's a lot to process you passed out from the shock so I kept you here overnight." He said trying to take her mind off the situation.
"I know this isn't the best time but here I know how much you wanted another slice." Before he could hand it to her she hugged him tightly to where he almost fell and dropped the cake while he was at it.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you Trey! Your the most sweetest person to do something like this just for me." She even had tears in her eyes. She really didn't like Dylan apparently. That made him happy at the very least.
"Don't mention it, I'm just happy to see your okay. Why don't you stay here for the day all the shock must have drained you. Not to mention that bruise has got to heal. You can have sweets anytime of the day you want." His heart was hammering in his chest and his face had turned up the heat like an oven. This reaction was far more than he expected but he wasn't unhappy about it.
He saw the sparkles of life in her eyes when he mentioned sweets. Chuckling to himself he handed her the slice of cake.
Seeing her take a bite of it always did bring him hapiness. He would have to give her a sedative toward dinner time and reexplain the all the false information again since her and her former husband to be was considered missing. They were supposed to come into the bakery but Trey feigned innocence when the authorities asked if they had come in. It would be fine though. He made a whole bunch of different treats with drug inducing forgetfulness just for her.
All he cared about now was protecting her smile. He admired her smile from afar seeing it as the most sweetest thing he'd never get tired of.

Okay, I desperately need to rant about Apocalyptic Natasha Romanoff in this episode of What-If and I've decided to do it here over Reddit. Screw me.
First off...
Holy Fucking Shit! That was bloody AMAZING!
Second, I'm basically going to be explaining my excitement and jumping on the ceiling about each scene she was in, but also pointing out a few things as well.
Tumblr media
(This feels like a Guardians of the Galaxy reference. No?)
I absolutely love this line because it says so much. In the main timeline, Steve had no clue about her Russian Vodka Family (as I've seen someone call it). In that timeline, I don't think she told anyone, not even Clint. But in Peggy's timeline, that Natasha clearly had to have opened up to Peggy which just shows how close those two had become during the year following the Battle of New York. Natasha Romanoff isn't an open person with anyone, in any timeline— even with Clint, the person she literally sacrificed herself for so he could live.
That says a million words I can't explain.
I also love the fact that the filter on Apocolypse Ultron World is dreary and it dulled out all the colour, and the sun's missing too. But in this shot, you can see hints of the sun shining through. It represents the hope Natasha saw when she saw them. The colour on Peggy's face and hair pop out. It automatically feels less dark and hopeless.
Also, I don't care what anyone might say this line is what sold Natasha that Peggy was an ally and that something was going on that she didn't yet understand. At the mention of Alexei, she just knew.
However... I must point out there are a few inaccuracies with this line. Actually, this entire line doesn't work.
Not really.
As because, up until ghosty Red-Skull said it on Vormir, Natasha had no clue what her birth father's name was and Peggy getting the serum instead of Steve wouldn't change that. So if she didn't know, there's no way she could tell Peggy.
And for the second part of that line... up until the events of Black Widow (the movie), Natasha was still lying to herself that their family in Ohio wasn't real— that it was just a mission and they were all just roles, nothing more.
But, I will say, maybe in that universe she and Peggy had a talk about it and Peggy make it clear she was a bloody numpty for thinking that and it was real regardless of the reason they were brought together. That could've happened in that universe. It's been made clear that those two traded stories with each other as her Nat knew about Steve, yet, main-timeline Nat didn't know about Peggy until she saw him staring at her photo. So who really knows.
But regardless, I still let out a jump of joy at this line because the What If series is letting the Russian Vodka Family be real!
Not that it wasn't real, but you get what I mean— anyways, onward!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene... oh my gawd... bloody-hell it's fucking terrific!
I cannot say how fucking overjoyed I am that when it came down to it, fucking Natasha Romanoff and bloody Clint Barton saved the entire bloody-fucking multiverse!
The (and I quote some random asshole) "Useless Avengers", saved everything ever known while also being the only survivors in an entire universe.
Let that sink in.
IT'S FUCKING AWESOME!
Like...
Holy Shit That's Awesome!
(I need more adjectives)
That's Bloody Insane.
I don't care how tacky they may be, I fricken loved these slow-mo arrow shots. And with the mirroring of Clint's (albeit fucking stupid) sacrifice coming full circle and to a close is outstanding.
Which brings me to my next point, that's kinda also this point too.
This point is part II we'll call it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I
Am
So
Fucking
Happy
They
Didn't
Forget
About
What
Clint
Meant
To
Nat
And
Also
Just
Plainly
Forget
About
Clint
'Cause that would've sucked. I would've sued Marvel if that happened.
This scene. These two shots.
For someone who hides behind fake smiles and witty remarks, these shots show exactly what she's thinking at that moment and it's amazing. You can literally see the absolute peace on Nat's face that they did it, they ended Ultron, she avenged Clint's death, she avenged everyone's death, it was over. And hey look, Yelena, they didn't even need one of the big ones to do it!
But also look, see what I said about the filter— Natasha's hair actually looks fiery red instead of vibrant brown. Also, SUN!
Moving on...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't really have much to say about this line, but I fucking loved it, and serves the dude right.
She Has A Very Valid Point.
Tumblr media
The pure amazement and life in Natasha's eyes and face is everything.
She saw everything she ever knew nuked and murdered because a robot spent five seconds on the internet and yet here she was now in a clusterfuck war full of life. Life that was at war with each other. But an alive war nonetheless and that's all she cares about at that moment.
Tumblr media
Natasha and Clint being best buds part threeeeeeee........
On come on we all know what was going through Natasha's mind at this moment.
PAYBACK BIATCH!
Seriously I just love this short little bit. And the fact that Loki took over the world in a week, yet, this Natasha took him out with a kick and a small poke says things.
It's awesome.
Tumblr media
As heartwarming as this scene was, I was hoping for more and truthfully it's a load of bullshit.
I don't care whatever the fuck Nick Fury has seen in his days, he did not know about the multiverse and if he wasn't happy as hell to see her on that Helicarrier then he was suspicious as hell as to who was this Natasha Romanoff imposter was. I'm sorry, I refuse to believe otherwise. No one's first thought after they've seen an alive version of someone they buried in the ground is—
"Oh, you must be Natasha just not my Natasha. Yeah, that makes sense."
Yeah, no.
Also... might I again remind you EVERYONE ON HER PLANET WAS FUCKING NUKED TO DEATH?! Did everyone seem to forget about this?
The first time we've seen Natasha Romanoff cry (almost cry) was Fury's death in The Winter Soldier. That's proof enough for how much Fury meant to her.
So the first person in like over a year (probably) she sees that she recognizes (besides Thor) who she also knew for a fact was dead— her reaction should've been more than a smirk. Especially if it was someone she cried over when they died. The line the two Natasha's share after Peggy's "I've got the shield. You've got the sword." line proves that different universes don't change a person's personality. So her seeing Fury again should've been a helluva lot more emotional for her, hell, for the both of them.
It probably should've gone something more like...
"Natasha...?" A very familiar voice behind her breathed. It wasn't one she's heard for over a year but she recognized it immediately. She froze— which was not a thing she did, ever, but it was only truly hitting her now that not everyone she knew was dead anymore. That the Steve Rogers over there was, in fact, alive. That the Nick Fury behind her was alive. That hundreds, millions, billions of other people were alive.
Natasha turned around slowly like her limbs were stuck in the gallons of maple syrup Cooper put on his pancakes.
"Fury—" She choked, honestly too overwhelmed to say anything else coherent. The tears in her eyes stung as she didn't let them fall.
Nick's one eye narrowed, he was pissed. "Who the hell are you?" He questioned, voice threatening. "I know you ain't Natasha Romanoff 'cause she's dead. So who are you?"
She was sure she just stared at his face probably for a full minute but she didn't really care. It was really nice to see and hear another face and voice.
Nat took a much-needed breath. "I know your Natasha is gone, the giant baby-man cape dude said so. I'm not her. I'm from somewhere else. But I am Natasha Romanoff... and it is really good to see you, Nick..."
Ah, shit the tears fell.
But maybe it was worth it as his eye widened and some form of recognition or some sliver of understanding set in. It was honestly hard to tell through her blurry eyes.
"You're aware none of that makes any sense, right?" He asked, voice much gentler now. Fury looked over her outfit and very dirty/beat-up appearance. "And I take it wherever you're from didn't have showers either? Because I can smell you from here." His nose wrinkled as he smirked.
She knew he was trying not to gag.
Natasha choked out a wet laugh. "Not for like a year, they kinda got all nuked from a psychopathic robot."
She was pretty sure that was the first time she'd ever seen Nick Fury actually shocked.
Okay, yeah so basically something like that.
And the reason I kept saying over a year is because Clint lost an arm and was honestly ready to die. He did die. After a year of being almost the only person on an entire planet and losing Laura and the kids, he hit his breaking point. In the five years of the blip he definitely became close to his breaking point, probably was about to hit it before Nat showed up, and that was with half the universe gone and he was alone without Nat. It could honestly be longer than a year, it probably was much longer, but then I started thinking about food and how much food would actually be safe to eat— or actually there. It was a matter of time really until both starved to death honestly.
And the shower thing, it's honestly impressive anyone could stand near here and not pass out. Like seriously if everyone is dead, I doubt any showers still worked— let alone be standing.
Anyways, I do have a couple problems with this episode despite how much I loved it.
Going back to the "EVERYONE ON HER PLANET WAS FUCKING NUKED TO DEATH?! Did everyone seem to forget about this?" part I mentioned earlier.
It seems no one outside of Nat actually seemed to acknowledge that everyone was dead. That Natasha, previous to their arrival, was the only living thing in that universe and that was it. You would think even Peggy would show some care or sympathy or some consoling words to her so-called BFF. If not that at least recognize the truly apocalyptic scene around her and look at it with disbelieving eyes. For someone who has so much compassion, she seems to have none in this case. Or at least she didn't outwardly show it. Which is completely fine. But it just bothered me no one seemed to really think about it all.
Another thing:
This isn't really towards the episode per-say but I'm just really fucking pissed about it.
It's great— no sorry— it's absolutely amazing that Apocalyptic Natasha is now in a universe that was thriving with life. It's awesome and she deserves it.
HOWEVER....
Are you fucking serious that out of all the universes that Natasha died in, you put her in a one that ALSO has a STILL DEAD Clint Barton???
SERIOUSLY?!??!?
I've said this what, three, four times now— Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton are more cursed than FitzSimmons. Because at least FitzSimmons always find their way back to each other in the end, Nat and Clint always just find the other fucking dead.
I swear, how the other doesn't have PTSD from heights now is a bloody miracle.
Anywho:
That's my entire rant on this week's episode. If you actually read this all, one, I'm so sorry for wasting your time, two, wow— congrats.
Also, I really need to see someone make a fic about Apocalyptic Nat seeing Laura and the kids for the first time again, and also for Coulson too.

Rhett's proposal to Scarlet to be his mistress
Scarlett, you do like me, don't you?"
That was more like what she was expecting.
"Well, sometimes," she answered cautiously. "When you aren't acting like a varmint."
He laughed again and held the palm of her hand against his hard cheek.
"I think you like me because I am a varmint. You've known so few dyed-in-the-wool varmints in your sheltered life that my very difference holds a quaint charm for you."
This was not the turn she had anticipated and she tried again without success to pull her hand free.
"That's not true! I like nice men--men you can depend on to always be gentlemanly."
"You mean men you can always bully. It's merely a matter of definition. But no matter."
He kissed her palm again, and again the skin on the back of her neck crawled excitingly.
"But you do like me. Could you ever love me, Scarlett?"
"Ah!" she thought, triumphantly. "Now I've got him!" And she answered with studied coolness: "Indeed, no. That is--not unless you mended your manners considerably."
"And I have no intention of mending them. So you could not love me? That is as I hoped. For while I like you immensely, I do not love you and it would be tragic indeed for you to suffer twice from unrequited love, wouldn't it, dear? May I call you 'dear,' Mrs. Hamilton? I shall call you 'dear' whether you like it or not, so no matter, but the proprieties must be observed."
"You don't love me?"
"No, indeed. Did you hope that I did?"
"Don't be so presumptuous!"
"You hoped! Alas, to blight your hopes! I should love you, for you are charming and talented at many useless accomplishments. But many ladies have charm and accomplishments and are just as useless as you are. No, I don't love you. But I do like you tremendously-- for the elasticity of your conscience, for the selfishness which you seldom trouble to hide, and for the shrewd practicality in you which, I fear, you get from some not too remote Irish-peasant ancestor."
Peasant! Why, he was insulting her! She began to splutter wordlessly.
"Don't interrupt," he begged, squeezing her hand. "I like you because I have those same qualities in me and like begets liking. I realize you still cherish the memory of the godlike and wooden- headed Mr. Wilkes, who's probably been in his grave these six months. But there must be room in your heart for me too. Scarlett, do stop wriggling! I am making you a declaration. I have wanted you since the first time I laid eyes on you, in the hall of Twelve Oaks, when you were bewitching poor Charlie Hamilton. I want you more than I have ever wanted any woman--and I've waited longer for you than I've ever waited for any woman."
She was breathless with surprise at his last words. In spite of all his insults, he did love her and he was just so contrary he didn't want to come out frankly and put it into words, for fear she'd laugh. Well, she'd show him and right quickly.
"Are you asking me to marry you?"
He dropped her hand and laughed so loudly she shrank back in her chair.
"Good Lord, no! Didn't I tell you I wasn't a marrying man?"
"But--but--what--"
He rose to his feet and, hand on heart, made her a burlesque bow.
"Dear," he said quietly, "I am complimenting your intelligence by asking you to be my mistress without having first seduced you."
Mistress!
Her mind shouted the word, shouted that she had been vilely insulted. But in that first startled moment she did not feel insulted. She only felt a furious surge of indignation that he should think her such a fool. He must think her a fool if he offered her a proposition like that, instead of the proposal of matrimony she had been expecting. Rage, punctured vanity and disappointment threw her mind into a turmoil and, before she even thought of the high moral grounds on which she should upbraid him, she blurted out the first words which came to her lips--
"Mistress! What would I get out of that except a passel of brats?"
And then her jaw dropped in horror as she realized what she had said. He laughed until he choked, peering at her in the shadows as she sat, stricken dumb, pressing her handkerchief to her mouth.
"That's why I like you! You are the only frank woman I know, the only woman who looks on the practical side of matters without beclouding the issue with mouthings about sin and morality. Any other woman would have swooned first and then shown me the door."
Scarlett leaped to her feet, her face red with shame. How could she have said such a thing! How could she, Ellen's daughter, with her upbringing, have sat there and listened to such debasing words and then made such a shameless reply? She should have screamed. She should have fainted. She should have turned coldly away in silence and swept from the porch. Too late now!
"I will show you the door," she shouted, not caring if Melanie or the Meades, down the street, did bear her. "Get out! How dare you say such things to me! What have I ever done to encourage you--to make you suppose. . . . Get out and don't ever come back here. I mean it this time. Don't you ever come back here with any of your piddling papers of pins and ribbons, thinking I'll forgive you. I'll--I'll tell my father and he'll kill you!"
He picked up his hat and bowed and she saw in the light of the lamp that his teeth were showing in a smile beneath his mustache. He was not ashamed, he was amused at what she had said, and he was watching her with alert interest.

Rhett's confession and proposal again
"'I could not love thee, Dear, so much, loved I not Honour more.' That's a pat speech, isn't it? Certainly better than anything I can think up myself, at the present moment. For I do love you, Scarlett, in spite of what I said that night on the porch last month."
His drawl was caressing and his hands slid up her bare arms, warm strong hands. "I love you, Scarlett, because we are so much alike, renegades, both of us, dear, and selfish rascals. Neither of us cares a rap if the whole world goes to pot, so long as we are safe and comfortable."
His voice went on in the darkness and she heard words, but they made no sense to her. Her mind was tiredly trying to take in the harsh truth that he was leaving her here to face the Yankees alone. Her mind said: "He's leaving me. He's leaving me." But no emotion stirred.
Then his arms went around her waist and shoulders and she felt the hard muscles of his thighs against her body and the buttons of his coat pressing into her breast. A warm tide of feeling, bewildering, frightening, swept over her, carrying out of her mind the time and place and circumstances. She felt as limp as a rag doll, warm, weak and helpless, and his supporting arms were so pleasant.
"You don't want to change your mind about what I said last month? There's nothing like danger and death to give an added fillip. Be patriotic, Scarlett. Think how you would be sending a soldier to his death with beautiful memories."
He was kissing her now and his mustache tickled her mouth, kissing her with slow, hot lips that were so leisurely as though he had the whole night before him. Charles had never kissed her like this. Never had the kisses of the Tarleton and Calvert boys made her go hot and cold and shaky like this. He bent her body backward and his lips traveled down her throat to where the cameo fastened her basque.
"Sweet," he whispered. "Sweet."

Rhett's marriage proposal
Rhett Butler: So I'll change the subject and say what I came to say. Scarlett: Say it, then, and get out! What is it? Rhett Butler quote: That I can't go on any longer without you. Scarlett: You are the most ill-bred man to come here at a time like this with your filthy Rhett Butler: I made up my mind that you were the only woman for me the first day I saw you at Twelve Oaks. Now that you've got the lumber mill and Frank's money you won't come to me as you did to the jail. So I see I shall have to marry you. Scarlett: I never heard of such bad taste. Rhett Butler: Would you be more convinced if I fell to my knees? Scarlett: Turn me loose, you varmint, and get out of here! Rhett Butler: Forgive me for startling you with the impetuosity of my sentiments my dear Scarlett. I mean, my dear Mrs. Kennedy. But it cannot have escaped your notice that for some time past the friendship I have felt for you has ripened into a deeper feeling. A feeling more beautiful, more pure, more sacred. Dare I name it? Can it be love? Scarlett: Get up off your knees. I don't like your common jokes. Rhett Butler: This is an honorable proposal of marriage made at what I consider a most opportune moment. I can't go all my life waiting to catch you between husbands. Scarlett: You're coarse, and you're conceited. And I think this conversation has gone far enough. Besides, I shall never marry again. Rhett Butler: Oh, yes, you will, and you'll marry me. Scarlett: You? You? I don't love you! And I don't like being married. Rhett Butler: Did you ever think of marrying just for fun? Scarlett quote: Marriage, fun? Fiddle-dee-dee. Fun for men, you mean. Hush up! Do you want them to hear you? Rhett Butler: You've been married to a boy and an old man. Why not try a husband of the right age, with a way with women? Scarlett: You're a fool, Rhett Butler, when you know I shall always love another man. Rhett Butler: Stop it! Do you hear me, Scarlett? Stop it! No more of that talk. Scarlett: Rhett, don't, I shall faint. Rhett Butler: I want you to faint. This is what you were meant for. None of the fools you've known have kissed you like this, have they? Your Charles, or your Frank, or your stupid Ashley. Say you're going to marry me. Say yes. Say yes. Scarlett: Yes. Rhett Butler: Are you sure you meant it? You don't want to take it back? Scarlett: No. Rhett Butler: Look at me and try to tell me the truth. Did you say yes because of my money? Scarlett: Well yes. Partly. Rhett Butler: Partly? Scarlett: Well, you know, Rhett, money does help, and of course I am fond of you. Rhett Butler: Fond of me? Scarlett: If I said I was madly in love with you, you'd know I was lying but you always said we had a lot in common. Rhett Butler: Yes, you're right, my dear. I'm not in love with you any more than you are with me. Heaven help the man who ever really loves you. What kind of a ring would you like, my darling? Scarlett: A diamond ring. And do buy a great big one, Rhett. Rhett Butler: You shall have the biggest and the most vulgar ring in Atlanta. We'll go to New Orleans for the most expensive honeymoon my ill-gotten gains can buy. Scarlett: That would be just heavenly. Rhett Butler: And I think I'll buy your trousseau for you, too. Scarlett: Rhett, how wonderful, but you won't tell anybody, will you, Rhett? Rhett Butler: Still the little hypocrite. Scarlett: Aren't you going to kiss me goodbye? Rhett Butler: Don't you think you've had enough kissing for one afternoon? Scarlett: You're impossible. You can go and I don't care if you never come back. Rhett Butler: But I will come back.

Just as you were about to say something else to Mikasa, the doorbell rang, interrupting the moment. She let go of your hair and stood at her full height.
"Are you expecting anyone?" She asked.
"No, we're not." With confusion evident on your face, you got off the stool and lightly kicked it under the counter.
Your eyebrows knitted together as you made your way to the front door.
On the other side of the glass, you saw a blond bearded man struggling to hold around five suitcases. He noticed you reaching for the door handle and grinned widely.
"Surprise!" He shouted and dropped his luggage on the marble floor when the door was fully opened. He raised his arms and tried to hug you. Scowling, you evaded his embrace.
"Zeke, what the hell are you doing here?" Your grip on the door tightened with every word.
Zeke frowned. "Do I need a reason to visit my sister?"
You rolled your eyes. "I'm not your sister. And typically, yes, you would."
"Okay, well, you're like my sister." He paused to adjust his glasses. "Have you forgotten? Eren's twenty-second is coming up. There's so much to do!" His excited facade was transparent to you.
"You didn't care about his twenty-first. Or his twentieth, for that matter. What's the sudden interest in your brother's life?" You raised an eyebrow as he visibly grew nervous.
"Well, you see, uh-" He twiddled his thumbs and your eyes narrowed. "Here's the thing-"
"Spit it out, Zeke." Mikasa cut him off when she rounded the corner. She crossed her arms as she leaned against the staircase railing.
"Mikasa! I didn't know you were back!" Zeke made rapid hand gestures toward her, eager to change the subject.
"I didn't know you were back, either. At least I gave a warning," she uttered, earning an incredulous look from the blond.
"Zeke, why are you here?" you continued.
His eyes briefly shifted to a houseplant before training back on you. "What if I told you I'm not allowed in the state of Nebraska?" He gave you a meek smile and your jaw dropped.
Mikasa snorted. "What the hell did you do in Nebraska?"
"Nothing!" he assured. "It's just that I may or may not be several million dollars in debt and on the run from the police." He looked down at his muddy boots in shame.
"You're WHAT?" You gaped at him. You'd known Zeke long enough to have it figured out that he brought trouble wherever he went but he was usually careful enough not to get banned from a state.
"It's not as bad as you think! I just got into a little quarrel with some guys. Everything is fine. Just let me stay here for a while," he said sheepishly.
"I am not letting a fugitive stay in my home!" you exclaimed.
"I'm not a fugitive! There's no need to use terms like that!"
"You're banned from Nebraska! I'll call you whatever I want!"
"What's all the commotion about?" Eren was walking down the stairs when he saw his older brother at the door. His mouth dropped open and he gripped the railing beside him. "Zeke?!"
"Why didn't you tell me your brother was in town?" You glared up at him.
"Because I didn't know!" He started to flail his arms around while simultaneously trying to make sense of the situation.
"Hey, little brother. Can I sleep in your room?"
"No!"
"Zeke's not allowed in Nebraska," Mikasa informed.
"What?!" Eren clutched the railing with one hand and his head with the other whilst continuing his descent down the stairs. "What even is Nebraska?" he mumbled with wide eyes.
"Doesn't matter. I wanna know how he managed to be banned from it." You glowered at the man in front of you.
"Y/n, will you please let me inside? It's cold even in March, you know." Zeke pleaded and pretended to shiver.
You glanced back at Eren for a sign of his approval. The house was yours, but Zeke was his brother. It wasn't like this was the first time he needed to stay over, anyway. Unlike mere seconds before, he now held a serious expression. He nodded at you and beckoned for Zeke to follow him.
He heaved a relieved sigh and nearly tackled you with a hug. "Thank you so much, Y/n! You won't regret this, I promise."
It felt like your bones were being crushed by his weight as your face was pushed up against his jacket. He reeked of an old car. "Okay, get off me, old man!" Your voice was muffled as you tried to push him away. He backed up and brushed your shoulders off before grabbing his luggage and disappeared into the basement with his younger brother.
You sighed heavily and plopped down on the stairs. "He got mud all over my floors. I just cleaned them too." Your head fell into your hands as you stressed over Zeke's sudden arrival. As if there wasn't enough on your plate already.
Mikasa laughed quietly as she draped an arm around your shoulders and sat down beside you. The sudden contact made your ears burn red. "Any particular reason for cleaning?" she hinted teasingly.
You lifted your head as you apprehensively stammered out a poor explanation.
She laughed at you again and you couldn't help but wonder if it's always been that easy to make her laugh. You thought about it for a moment and concluded to yourself that it didn't matter what made her laugh, as long as you got to hear it.
A dreamy smile spread across your face as you watched how her newly short hair fell in front of her eyes when she laughed like that.
It seemed she noticed your thoughtful gaze because she tucked the hair behind her ear and peered down at you. "What are you looking at?" she whispered.
"You."
The sound of footsteps resounded from the stairs behind you. "Woah, I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Jean smirked when he saw how close you and Mikasa were. He parted the two of you by removing Mikasa's arm so he could walk in between.
Your face grew red when you realized what you had said to her and it grew even redder when you noticed Mikasa had a similar amount of color dusting her cheeks.
"Heads up, I'm going to Marco's right now so if anyone asks that's where I'll be." He corrected the slight wrinkles in his new shirt and grabbed his keys from the key-hook.
Mikasa was quick to add to his words. "It's nice to see you and Marco are still going strong. I'm happy for you, Jean, really." She smiled up at him honestly.
Jean's tinted cheeks gave away his embarrassment. "Oh, thanks. Uh, I'm also really happy for, um, whatever you guys have going on." He grinned but quickly covered his mouth when he saw a look of distress flash across your face. "Uh, sorry, I have to go now. See you guys later." He mumbled another apology and turned sharply on his heel to make a mad dash at the front door.
Mikasa chuckled and shook her head. "He can be such a dork sometimes," she said when the door closed behind him.
"That's true," you admitted softly. You were a little displeased that she kept her arm in her lap instead of wrapping it around you again now that Jean had vanished.
"I take it Zeke's kept up with his habits since I've been gone?" she assumed.
An exasperated sigh left your lips. "He shows up at least once or twice a year wanting to stay. He always owes somebody money but, as far as I know, this is the first time he's been permanently banned from a state. I don't love letting criminals in my household but you know how Eren gets."
"I see. I do remember how angry he'd get with us when we wanted Zeke to leave," she recalled dejectedly.
"I just wish he wouldn't get his hopes up every time he asks to stay." You frowned and tapped your fingers against the wooden stair you sat on.
"I hope he can stay long enough for Eren's twenty-second. It'd be nice if he could spend his birthday with him."
"That can be arranged." You ran a shaky hand through your hair. "Will you be okay at a party for him?" you inquired timidly. Considering what happened the last time she was at a party, you felt the need to know if she'd be alright with going since Eren's birthday was rapidly approaching.
Mikasa was surprised by the question. "Of course I will be. Y/n, you know I'm over what happened. You don't have to worry about what I think. It's cute you care, though." She squeezed your shoulder gently and gave you a reassuring smile.
Before you could respond, she stood from her position next to you and started up the stairs. "I'm gonna get changed. I'll see you later."
When she was out of your sight, you gave a final weighted sigh. You had to figure out what you were going to do with Zeke. The feelings that came with Mikasa being home already clouded your mind, not to mention the stress of Hitch on your ass as well.
For Eren's sake, Zeke should stay for a little bit. Mikasa suggested he should leave once Eren's birthday passes and that made sense. However, that would mean he'd be living in your house for two weeks.
You groaned and leaned back. There was only one person who would know how to help. You spun around and scrambled up the creaky stairs.
Facing the office door, you opened it and watched Armin move hastily to turn off their monitor.
"What are you doing?" You raised an eyebrow and leaned on the doorframe.
"Important research." He swiveled the chair to face you and rested his arms in his lap.
"Yeah, right," you snickered. "Did you know Zeke is here?"
Armin nodded. "I overheard everything. It's not like you people are quiet."
"Okay, so what should I do about it?" Moving to sit on the couch, you placed your hands on the cushions under you.
They shrugged. "I don't know. What should you do about it?"
"Come on, Armin. I came in here because I need your help with this." You sent him a worried glance.
"Y/n, at the end of the day, this is your house. You decide who stays and who doesn't. If you want him here, let him stay. If you don't, kick him out."
He couldn't just ignore the obvious issue present. "But what about Eren?"
"What about him? Eren respects you more than he respects anyone else. He wouldn't want to do something if you weren't comfortable with it. The guy trusts you with his life." He spoke like the answer was so clear.
You pursed your lips and thought over what they said. "I don't want to hurt him, though."
He wore a compassionate smile. "None of us do, but the difference between us is that he would listen to you.  So, with that said, how long will you let Zeke stay?"
You looked down at your hands and thought back to your conversation with Mikasa and about the conversation you just had with the man across from you. "He can stay until Eren's birthday party. When that's passed, he'll have to leave."
When you looked up, you noticed Armin was still smiling at you. "I knew you'd make a good decision."
"I always do, don't I?" You joked.
He snorted and adjusted his chair to face his computer again. "You wouldn't be able to without me."
You feigned offense and stood up. "You're too cruel."
"Sure I am. Now leave my office, peasant. I'm busy." He waved you away with a dramatic flair of his hand.
You scoffed. "I bet you don't have actual work to do and you're just being a freak on the internet, like usual."
He flipped you off. "If you don't leave I'll have to use brute force."
"Whatever, whatever, Armeen, don't be harsh." You sauntered out of the office before he could scold you about the nickname.
