He stepped forwards as Augus and Gwyn walked over, and there was an expression on his face Gwyn hadn’t seen before. The way the Raven Prince stared at him, like his eyes were hungry, but also…fond? Gwyn opened his mouth to speak and then closed it. He’d felt every day for the last week that his life was going to be the same once he returned to it, but it was already different. The Raven Prince walking over to him with this expression on it was new. It was so new. Gwyn knew the Raven Prince as someone stingy with his praise, cold instead of warm. Tears came to Gwyn’s eyes, and he had to look away, and the Raven Prince reached out and stopped just shy of touching his arm. ‘I want to go home,’ Gwyn said. His voice was cracked and rough.

I wanted to do something about merman Dimitri for so long, that when I had the opportunity I was indecisive about what tail he should have lol Anyway I took white sharks', I think their scars fits Dimitri pretty well.

Also I love the dinamic between gigant depths monster Dimitri and little petit Claude chiquito. If you ask how he ended in a bottle, someone threw him away ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Don't worry he is ok. Dimitri saved in time (as every AU). Maybe next time Dimitri could go to the surface.

I was kind of planning to keep Dr gary faceless in my art, but i couldn’t help it. It was kind of fun to mess around with the design. I might keep him faceless if i do any other art after this. Efnisien will likely be the one to fall victim to my color studies more often because his curly hair is way too fun to play with :)

I love @not-poignant's The Ice Plague and Fae Tales dearly and I've wanted to make myself a physical copy of the series from the moment I started bookbinding. And since The Ice Plague is reaching its conclusion (!!!!!), it felt like the right time do it.

I highly recommend the series if you haven't read it.

Anyway, here's my copy of the first book in the series, The Forest of Fire. I had alot of fun binding it. I'm gonna do similar cover designs for the next ones, but with different colors and a diffrent drawing.

Construction & typesetting notes under the cut

It was my first time using a suede-like fabric as bookcloth, and I really like how it looks. I want to use it everywhere. However, it unfortunately doesn't take to foil well. So the tree and the spine text are painted on rather than foiled with a heat pen (which is what I usually do).

I made some light marks on the fabric using my bone folder (truly my most versatile tool!) and then painted over those.

I saw a rec post floating around asking for the best fic you've ever read, so I thought I'd toss out my annual rec for @not-poignant's Fae Tales series. If this sounds anything at all like it'd be up your alley, give it a shot. I don't think any published work has hooked me as much as this series. I've been reading it and obsessed with the characters in it for years. It is quite dark and deals with dark themes, kink, and trauma, but if any of that speaks to you, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
