Rant incoming
I feel like the problem with a lot of Disney's live action remakes (and arguably Wish) is they're trying to appeal to a crowd that no longer exists, namely the people who used to claim that the Disney Princesses were sexist.
All the interviews tend to include, "Well she's not chasing a MAN anymore" which...almost no one sees the princesses like that, anymore. Virtually NO ONE still believes the princesses are man-chasing sexist caricatures of women.
Cinderella is now hailed as an abuse victim who stayed strong long enough to get help to get out of her situation. Anyone who says she should have saved herself is basically regarded as a victim blamer. And it's very clear in the film she wasn't looking to marry the prince, she just wanted a night off. She was the only one who wasn't in line to meet him. She didn't find out she met the prince until he went looking for her!
Snow White is now hailed for her negotiation skills, ability to calm down after extreme stress (she had a moment of panic and had to cry for a bit, but who wouldn't after finding out The Queen hired someone to kill you?), and ability to take charge of a house of adult men. And again, she was an abuse victim, this time trying to escape ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS. While she dreamed of her prince, it was secondary to her main goal of SURVIVAL. There are also entire video essays about how Snow White gave hope to people during The Great Depression.
Everyone acknowledges that Ariel wanted to be human BEFORE meeting Eric. We all know she was a nerd hyperfixating on humans, and also standing up to her prejudiced father.
We understand Sleeping Beauty wasn't the main character, the Three Good Fairies were, AND PHILLIP WOULD NEVER HAVE BEATEN MALEFICENT WITHOUT THEM! He literally depended on them! WOMEN SAVED THE DAY! But even then, is it really such a sin for a girl to fantasize about romance and fall for someone with corny pickup lines?
We all understand Jasmine just wanted someone to treat her LIKE A PERSON. She rejected every Prince before Aladdin because they treated her like a prize. So why did they need her to want to be Sultan? How did that make her more feminist when she already wanted to be treated like an equal and have a say in her future? Is it only empowering if you want a career in politics?
We admire that Belle, despite living in a judgemental village, was kind to everyone (even though she found the village life dull), and her story teaches girls that the guy everyone else loves isn't always a good guy. What's sexist about teaching girls about red flags? And she didn't start being nice to The Beast until he started treating her with respect and kindness.
Do I really NEED to defend Mulan or Tiana? I think they speak for themselves.
Rapunzel was yet another abuse victim who just needed a little help to get out of her bad situation. In this case, she also needed to learn that she was an abuse victim, and that what Mother Gothel did WASN'T normal, much like many victims of gaslighting.
And don't get me started on the non-princess animals.
Perdita had a healthy relationship with Pongo to the point she was open to express her pregnancy fears to him, and was ready to TEAR APART Cruella's goons for daring to touch her puppies as well as adopting the other puppies. Like, she was so ferocious the goons mistook her for a hyena! She's basically that "I AM THAT GIRL'S MOTHER!" scene from SpyXFamily if Yor were a dog. She and her husband were a TEAM.....but they made a Cruella live action to turn her into a girlboss?! The literal animal abuser!? THAT'S the woman you wanted to put on a pedestal when Perdita was RIGHT THERE!?
Duchess kept her kittens calm after they had been catnapped and was classy as heck. Nice to everyone regardless of social class during a time period where that was uncommon.
Lady stood up to Tramp when she believed he had abandoned her and didn't really care about her. She found out he was a heartbreaker and was like, "Nuh uh. No. You are not doing that to me! You put me through enough."
Miss Bianca from The Rescuers was IN CHARGE the whole movie, and was willing to risk life and limb to save an innocent child. THAT TINY MOUSE TOOK ON ALLIGATORS! And she picked Bernard to accompany her because he was the only one who wasn't ogling her. And then in the sequel SHE DID IT ALL AGAIN! I wish I were as brave as her.
Like, the public haven't accused these ladies of being sexist caricatures since 2014 (Actresses and actors don't count, they're out of touch like the rest of Hollywood) yet Disney is operating under the assumption that the public still thinks that way, hence all the "sHe'S nOt AfTeR a MaN iN ThIs VeRsIOn" talk.
The live action remakes are trying to attract an audience that doesn't really exist much, anymore, and back when it did exist, was comprised mainly of people who didn't actually watch the films. The Disney princesses are no longer seen as sexist, and feminine qualities are no longer seen as weak or undesirable.

Miguel is like your best artwork, in your opinion. The way you took the hard seed he was and watered, loved, cared and nurtured him so he could bloom into the flower he was today is one of your greatest achievements.
When you met him he was cold, closed off, and angry. It took months of breaking down his wall before he could even admit his feelings for you, it took even more, to get him to express his feelings for you. It was like luring a stray cat, slowly getting him closer, and more comfortable with you before pushing your physical feelings onto him. You coaxed him out of his cave of isolation, of touch deprivation, and showed him how it felt to have someone love on him.
You were so proud when he started coming to you for simple little things, like a kiss or a hug. You’d be working and he’d stride in, tall and confident just to ask you, shyly, for a kiss. For a long time you explained to him that he didn’t always need to ask you, you were okay with him just coming in and kissing you. You also had to explain to him that he’s allowed to ask for more than a hug or kiss, he was very resistant on that matter but you managed to break him.
One day he woke up in the middle of the night, you were asleep next to him and he needed you. He laid there for an hour, debating on whether he should wake you up or not. When he did wake you up, you couldn’t have been prouder. You made sure to let him know that as you rode him.
At first, he wouldn’t even hold your hand or hug you in public. He got comfortable with PDA much quicker than the others, it only took him a few weeks. He plunged himself into it head first.
He went from barely touching you to being all over you. He started sitting you in his lap, resting his arms over your hips while standing behind you, or laying his head on your stomach whenever you guys were chilling in the lounge.
He even got into the habit of running his fingers over your tummy, going under your shirt or dissipating your suit just to feel you. Or he’ll just grope you through your suit, it doesn’t alway seem sexual for him… more like he enjoys the closeness, the intimacy of touching you, holding you in places no one else can. For example; your boobs, your ass, and his most recent, most consistent obsession… your pussy.. just cupping, your clothed pussy.
He says it’s calming for him, most of the time he does it absently. The goal isn't to make you cum, or prep your for his cock. He just loves touching you. It made you unbelievably happy to see him like that, your secretly sweet boy, loving all over you, not caring who’s around. It was one of the best things to ever happen to you.
Which is what makes this current conversation so awkward.
Hobie is rambling on and on about how disgusting PDA is. Miguel isn't around, thank god. He went to get a drink and never came back. Hobie has been ranting about how inconsiderate, and inappropriate PDA is as you awkwardly sip on your drink, feeling oddly targeted. Jess and Gwen agree with him, saying that it’s not that serious but definitely annoying. You’re just wishing for them all to just stop before Miguel returns, terrified that he’ll retreat back into his shell. That you’ll loose your sweet flower.
“ ‘M jus sayin’ it’s not like they can’t wait ‘til they get ‘ome. I jus feel like… come off it, y’know? Like you’re in public, right? Jus... keep it in your pants.” You down your drink and decide to finally butt into the conversation.
“Hobie. I love you but you’re the same guy who doesn’t believe in consistency.” You earn a little chuckle from the table. “Get in a loving, serious, consistent relationship, and tell me you’ll never want to be affectionate outside your house.” The words spit from your mouth with more venom than intended but you stand your ground.
“Aye, I guess. But like, some people don’t know when to dial it back. He laughs with Gwen as you get up to leave. Jess is sending you an apologetic look that you smile at briefly before turning to walk away. You’re stopped by a.. wall?
You open your eyes to see what you ran into and see Miguel smiling down at you. “Where are you going?” You smile back at him, genuinely, and tell him a half-truth. “I was looking for you! Where have you been?”
Miguel looks a little drunk, his face flushed, and his eyes hazy. You guys have been drinking but it usually takes more. He shrugs and sits in your seat, patting his leg for you to sit in his lap.
You start toward him but then Hobie’s words play in your head and you shake your head softly at him. He looks confused but nods at you and falls into the conversation, now talking about the latest mission.
You’re standing there considering Hobie’s words. If you imagine how you and Miguel act from an outsider's perspective… you can see why they’d find it annoying. Anxiety curls and makes a home in your chest as you flip through all your favorite memories of you and Miguel, all of them now tainted. You head over to the bar silently, needing another drink when you feel someone behind you.
You feel pressure on the top of your head and know it's Miguel, placing a kiss on your head, another recent habit of his. You do nothing, ignore it as he wraps his arms around your waist and leans into you. “Oh, Peter B. says Hello. He was here earlier for a bit. That’s what took me so long. He made me drink with him too. Puede que haya bebido mucho.”
(“I may have had too much to drink”)
A smile makes its way onto your face as you listen to him, his accent thicker with his intoxication. He’s leaning on you, not for support but just to feel you against him. You guys stand there in comfortable silence until you feel Miguel’s hand begin to slide from your hip to your pelvis, it slides underneath the band of your skirt and you stop him. “Not now, Miggy. Sorry.” Your drink arrives, you pay, and leave. Miguel follows behind you, slightly deflated by your rejection. Your mind is still on Hobie’s words.
Are we “too much”? Do we take it “too far”..? Maybe we should just dial it back a little...
You guys arrive back at the table and Miguel tries again. His hands come to your waist and quickly slide down, trying to get under your skirt. You don’t say anything, you keep talking to Gwen as you pull his hand out.
The night goes well from that point. Miguel makes more advances that are gently rejected or avoided by you. You all gradually get drunk as the night goes on, Miguel drinks a bit more than he usually would and recluses himself to a table next to where you guys are sitting. Jess leaves first, Gwen and Hobie following her not too long after.
You and Miguel decide to leave and Uber home in silence. He usually talks more after hanging out in a group, saying everything he thought but couldn't say, giving his rating on the interaction, and more. This time, however, he’s silent, looking out his window with furrowed brows the whole ride. The silence only breaks once you both are in the apartment and you speak up.
“Why are you so quiet tonight?” You’re staring at his back as he stands in the living room. He doesn’t answer you at first, he just stands there before sighing and turning around.
“Why won’t you let me play with you?” His voice is weaker than you’ve ever heard it, his eyes look sad and desperate and his hands are wringing each other. You’ve never seen him like this, nervous and unsure. It breaks your heart.
You rush over to him and wrap him in a hug. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you wanted to that bad, baby.” You let him go and kiss his cheek. “I—“ You sigh defeatedly. “Hobie got in my head about PDA. I don’t know why I listen to him.” Miguel lets out a sigh of relief at your words, some of the tension leaving his body.
“That idiot? Yeah, no. Don’t listen to him, amor.” You smile at him and he kisses you softly. When you pull away he still has that nervous look in his eyes. “Do you wanna play with me now?” you ask gently. He nods so timidly that you regret ever rejecting him. You kiss him with a smile as he walks you backward, only stopping once your back hits the wall.
His breath is already speeding up, his chest heaving as his hand slowly slides up your skirt. The moment his fingers come in contact with your clothed pussy he groans out, louder than you. You’re shocked by his reaction as he keeps rubbing your clit, gasping, and moaning with you as if he was touching himself.
His mouth is open as moans tumble through his lips. He’s not looking at you, just watching his fingers move on your pussy. His eyebrows draw more inward the faster he moves his fingers, his moans turning into whines the faster he goes.
At some point, his fingers roll over your clit more perfectly than you can handle and your hips buck into his hands. His knees almost buckle at the sight as he lets out a deep, rumbling groan.
“Santa mierda.” His eyes roll back as he feels your wetness soak through your panties and dampen his fingers. He’s desperately hard in his pants and his hips are thrusting up into the air in time with his movements over your pussy. “Echaba mucho de menos esto, cariño”
(“Holy shit.”)
( “I missed this so much honey”)
You giggle at his apology. He tends to do this a lot when you have him extra worked up. He always feels bad because he knows you can't understand him but the truth is that when he gets you like this… Whining, moaning, and pressing into him.
He cannot function.
He can’t think about anything but breeding you, getting his fat cock into your soft pussy, and painting your cervix. He’s not worried about what language it happens in. His brain can’t focus on things like that, he’s tried.
Your hips thrust up into his hand as you grip his biceps, your nails digging in painfully, making him moan even louder. His fingers move against you perfectly, the Spanish falling from his lips pulls you closer and closer to your orgasm. Your legs start to twitch and tense, your knees weakening as the burning in your stomach grows. Your hands come up around Miguel’s neck to pull him closer to you.
“You’re making me feel so good, Miggy. Fuck- I love you so much, baby.” He lifts you off your feet, pressing you up against the wall and lifting your legs over his waist. He takes a step forward and buries himself in your neck, his hips come forward, pressing his bulge against your mound with a groan. “Yeah, good. Good, Miggy- shi-it.” You feel his fangs slide out of his mouth and press into your skin as he whimpers. “Holy- Miguel, I- fuck, like that baby please.”
His whines turn to groans as he thrusts against you like he was actually fucking you. His hips swivel into yours, stuttering as he listens to your moans. “N-nena, estoy tan cerca. Maldita sea, te sientes tan jodidamente bien, mi amor. Siento que no puedo respirar. Mierda, te sientes increíble.”
(“B-baby, I'm so close. Damn, you feel so fucking good, my love. I feel like I can't breathe. Shit, you feel amazing.”)
You moan louder at his words, the way they roll off of his tongue. You can’t even describe how you feel when he speaks, especially in Spanish. It feels like his words vibrate through your ears, to your stomach, and settle in your core, winding you up as tightly as you can go. “Yeah? Oh, I’m gonna c-cum. Fuck- talk to me, Miggy. T-tell me how it feels, honey.”
Miguel can feel his eyes roll back into his head at your words. You know he can’t speak English right now, and he knows you love it anyway, the thought has him hurtling toward his orgasm. “Te sientes tan perfecta, nena. Voy a correrme tan fuerte por ti. ¿Lo quieres? ¿Quieres que te dé mi leche, miel? Te lo daré, todo por ti, nena. Mierda.”
(“You feel so perfect, baby. I'm gonna cum so hard for you. Do you want it? Do you want me to give you my milk honey? I'll give it to you, all for you, baby. Shit.")
Your legs crush his waist as you cum, trembling in his arms as his hips keep fucking against you, his moans growing in volume. You bring your hands up to dive into his hair, pulling at it, gripping it as he growls into your neck. He’s trying to hold off until you’re done, he wants to keep going, he wants to make you cum for so long that you can’t breathe but the way you’re grasping his brown locks makes it impossible. His muscles tense, his hands squeezing you into a bruising hold as his groans devolve back into whines, his body shaking as his cock explodes.
He cums so hard he thinks he blacks out for a moment. His cock pumps out rope after rope of his cum into his pants, he wishes it was inside you for a moment and he’s cumming harder at the thought. His hips continue to buck into you desperately as he moans out your name. You feel one of his hands leave your waist and rest on your cheek shakily, pushing your head in his direction and placing a kiss on your cheek. He grunts as he bucks against you one more time before putting you down.
You knees give out the moment you touch the ground and Miguel holds you up with a chuckle. “¿Qué? ¿No puedes soportarlo, cariño? ¿Tus piernas ya no funcionan?” He teases you as he carries you to the bedroom, your head rests on his chest, feeling the vibrations as he speaks.
(“What? You can't stand, honey? Your legs don't work anymore?”)
“You better hush up before I fuck you.” You spit back at him jokingly but you feel his pace falter at the threat.
“Uh, Qué... ¿Cuál es el dicho? Don’t threaten me with a good time?” He says in a teasing tone but his eyes are already clouding over again, desperate.
(“what... what's the saying?”)

His Haven
Homelander x Psychiatrist!Reader Pt. 1?
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
When Homelander first met you, he just came in because Madelyn cooked up some scheme with Edgar to 'prove' that the members of The Seven were sound of mind and could pass a psychiatric evaluation similar to the one used in the army. Of course, you had been paid a lot of money to do the evaluations and even more money to ensure that these heroes passed no matter what they said. You were a respected psychiatrist in your field; that’s why Madelyn wanted you specifically.
Homelander went to his appointment, planning on leaving until you said something that caught his attention. You said, 'I am here for you. I took this job because you all spend your days helping and saving people, but at the end of the day, who helps and saves you? Obviously, I couldn’t physically save you, but I can be a place for you to talk if you need it. Nothing you say will leave this room.' Boy, did that stroke his ego in all the right ways. He decided to stay. Something about you was comforting, and he wanted to talk, so he started small with the obvious stuff. He led the conversation by making off-handed remarks about being better than everyone and having to be perfect for Vought. It was clear you didn’t understand his pain, but you were listening to him. You were actually listening to him and responding.
You weren’t like Madelyn, who seemed to argue with every other thing he said; you didn’t respond with dismissive and uncaring responses like Queen Maeve, and you could actually keep up with the conversation, unlike The Deep.
Homelander surprised you and himself when he began attending regular scheduled sessions. You usually led the discussion by asking various questions. Some questions he would lie about, not feeling totally safe to dive into certain topics, or he would just dodge the question and change the subject. Homelander knew you noticed this because anytime he did either of those things, your body language would change, and you would write something down in your little notebook. That notebook had made Homelander incredibly nervous until he found out you were not in there calling him a useless pussy. You were just simply writing topics you two had discussed and what topics made him uncomfortable.
You seemed to actually care about Homelander’s feelings, even the bad ones. Stan Edgar put Homelander in his place, and Homelander looked down avoiding Edgar’s pointed gaze like a child being scolded by their father. Homelander needed some reassurance, but he would never admit that willingly. Homelander felt weak and stupid for needing someone, but you didn’t seem to mind even when he was ranting and raving, so he went to you. You had been his haven. The one person he could confide in and actually be himself.
He arrived at your office in the morning while you happened to be filling out some paperwork. He knew you didn’t have any appointments today because this had been previously the day Vought scheduled for the evaluations of the heroes. Homelander spent the whole day pestering you. 'What are we doing now?' He asked, not entirely oblivious to your mild frustration. 'Still just filling out paperwork,' you replied. He rolled his eyes. 'God, your life is so boring. Go to work, talk to the crazies, fill out paperwork and go home, and you do that all alone? I forgot how boring normal people can be.'
You laughed before telling him, 'no one is keeping you here.' Homelander’s jaw tightened. This pissed him off. You’re not supposed to say that. You’re supposed to offer to do something more fun. You seemed to notice that 1,000-yard stare he has as he retreats into his own mind. 'Look, I just mean that I have to finish work. I know it’s probably boring you to death just sitting here; you don’t have to stay if you don’t want to,' you told him, which seemed to make him feel a bit better, but he’s not entirely out of his head. 'It’s fine, we can just talk while you work,' he tells you with a feigned smile.
Homelander begins to perk up while you finish your paperwork and finally asks you the million-dollar question, 'What are we doing when we get home?'
'I am going home to cook up some dinner and watch some television,' you told him, trying to hint that you were wanting to be alone. Homelander was undeterred. 'What are we eating? I could use a home-cooked meal. We could watch one of my movies. I’ve been told I’m a great actor.' Homelander needs you to agree and compliment him. He desperately wants you to tell him he does a good job, even if you’re just talking about acting. 'Yeah? Your movies are pretty famous,' you say, accepting your fate that he isn’t leaving you alone tonight.
The night is spent with him at your house. Homelander wastes no time making himself at home and pilfering through your things. He feels comfortable being so ensnared in your scent. He becomes more comfortable as the night carries on. You fix his plate and drink for dinner, and the two of you share a dinner that he perceives as romantic. Your food isn’t as good as the private chefs at Vought, but Homelander loves it because he got to see the love you put into making it just for him.
You two clean up together. It’s really you cleaning, and Homelander helps by talking about which movie of his you should watch tonight. Finally, you try to retire to your room, but he follows. 'I thought we were gonna watch a movie… it doesn’t have to be one of mine,' Homelander tries not to sound too desperate, and he hated to say that last bit.
'I had planned on watching something in my room, but you can come lay with me if you want,' you tell him reluctantly. Homelander is excited but tries to keep that hidden. You two lay down and begin watching one of his movies. By the end, Homelander is 'asleep.' He knows you can’t tell the difference in him and ignores you when you gently shake him trying to wake him. He’s not the biggest fan of sleeping in strange beds, but for you, he can make an exception. Next time, he wants you in his bed though.

Haganezuka Hotaru Having a Crush on Being In Love with You (SFW)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Haganezuka x Fem!Reader
Requests are open!
Tumblr media
Whenever you're in close proximity, this man tries his absolute hardest to appear as nonchalant as possible — thank heavens for his mask, or else you'd instantly see his beet-red face.
Haganezuka is someone who lives on extreme emotions; from his rage towards Tanjiro breaking his craft to him feeling like his heart is about to burst from his chest whenever you smile at him — you have him (unknowingly) wrapped around your finger.
You may think he absolutely doesn't care for you, but he isn't the type to verbally express his affection; instead, he'd give you small gifts (like the last stick of Mitarashi Dango) or offer to polish your katana. This man's time is precious, but he'd always set aside time for you.
Once you got closer with one another, you opted to call him by his first name, Hotaru. The first time you uttered his name, you were undoubtedly worried he'd throw a fit because of how cute and unbefitting it is for a swordsmith like him. Surprisingly, he only grumbled and looked away (he was absolutely blushing, by the way).
You continue to call him Hotaru, and the villagers around you are so wary whenever you do so but end up pleasantly surprised to see how calmly Hotaru responds to your beckon. He's so smitten for you.
He's also quite the jealous type, seething in quiet rage towards anyone who dares flirt with you. You better be certain he has his four knives out and sharpened.
You really began seeing him as a close friend, as you've shared many afternoons together, talking about how each other's day went. You definitely laugh in endearment as he rants to you about his client (poor Tanjiro).
You were satisfied with your connection until, one day, Haganezuka built up the courage to tell you — in the most stiff, straightforward, yet genuine manner — that he is in love with you.
Let's not lie. You were surprised, to say the least. Haganezuka never showed any desire to be entangled in a romantic relationship. Kanamori even occasionally mentions how his rough, difficult personality is the main cause of his bachelor status at the age of 37.
Your entire image of him was simply upended once he muttered out his confession, his gaze faltering to your side, unable to maintain contact with your widened eyes.
You've always found him absolutely stunning under his peculiar mask — his amber irises framed by his upturned eyes; his pretty lashes that greatly contrasted his constantly furrowed brow; not to mention, his long, smooth raven-colored hair that cascaded down his muscular back — he was undoubtedly attractive.
You felt a twinge of jealousy at the thought of other women staring at his figure with evident interest.
You also funnily felt pride at the fact that they most likely could never truly handle the entirety of Haganezuka Hotaru — they weren't like you, who could calm him with the sound of your voice (as if you were the embodiment of a wind chime) or patiently sit with him as he yelled about his annoyances.
Maybe he wasn't just a friend, after all.
"Forget what I said,"
Haganezuka twisted his figure to steadily walk away from you, but you grasped onto his firm bicep to cease his escape.
He looked at you in mild bewilderment, simultaneously worried and hopeful with what your response might be.
You smiled your ever-so-gentle smile — the same smile he fell in love with and said,
"I like you, too, Hotaru."
Haganezuka's face held the most wonderful expression you have ever seen, and you were stuck between wanting to stare at his face for the next few minutes and the desire to kiss his lips that fell agape.
No worries. Hotaru decided for both of you and held you close as your lips met his for the very first time.
And it definitely will not be the last.
Tumblr media
A/N: I am so in love with this man right now; my head is full of him. Please feel free to send requests! If you want an NSFW version, I am more than willing to serve, hehe.

Jasmines and Vanilla
Relationship: Spencer Reid x Reader
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Request: No
Warnings: Fluff
Word Count: 2,869
Main Masterlist: Here
Criminal Minds Masterlist: Here
Summary: A certain smell catches Reid’s attention in the bullpen.
Tumblr media
American poet Diane Ackerman once said, “Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains.”
There was absolutely nothing remarkable about today. It was a paperwork day, which meant staying in the office. No flying on the jet to go stop an unsub in some other part of the country, or hopping in their government issued SUVs to find them on their home turf. The whole BAU team was stuck in the office and it was glorious. Having just come home from a case the day prior; everyone was excited about having a paperwork day to relax.
“Ugh, don’t get me wrong, I love these days where were not jet-setting across the country. But why do they always feel like they pass by slower than when we are going all over on the governments dime to stop bad guys?” The bored voice of Emily Prentiss called throughout the bullpen.
“An increased dopamine rush to your brain increases your internal perception of time. But dopamine and adrenaline cause such similar reactions inside your brain, it has the same effect leading to you feeling like time passes much faster when we’re in the field and-” Spencer was quickly cut off by the aforementioned agent.
“I really should know better than to ask after all these years.” Reid cast his eyes back down to his paperwork and felt embarrassment creep up his neck. In all honesty, he should be used to that after all these years but it still never got any easier to have someone shut him down. Turning back to his paperwork, he ignored the scoffed chuckle from JJ and tried to recenter himself.
There was no unusual sounds from the area heard for a while after that. Or maybe there was, but Spencer chose to bury himself in his work so that he would be less likely to go on an embarrassing factual rant. He did not know how long he kept his nose buried in the case files on his desk, but he knew what drew them out of it. A collective confused noise from the women around him, and perfume.
It was unlike anything he had smelled around the office, and it caused his head to perk up. In walked a woman around his age, yet much smaller than him, even with the heels she had worn. Her hair was curled up and out of her face, reminding him of the victory rolls worn during World War II by the working women of the era. In fact, her entire look reminded him of that era. She wore a type of secretary’s uniform from the era, had on red lipstick that complemented her features nicely and a winged eyeliner that drew attention to them.
A visitor’s pass dangled from on of the lapels. She was obviously here on purpose, but for what purpose, no one knew. But what drew him in, was that smell; the smell of her perfume. It was intoxicating to him. How he was this way about a woman he had never met before, let alone knew the name of? All he knew was that she had enraptured his senses in less than a minute, fifty-six seconds to be exact.
Heels clicked into the bullpen, and a tidal wave of color followed. It was almost comical seeing Penelope standing next to Derek, who had opted for all black for his relaxing day in his office. The clicking stopped shortly after the pair locked their eyes on to the new woman out in the middle of the floor.
“Who is that?” Garcia squeaked out, unable to pull her eyes from the mystery woman. Morgan’s eyes were glued to the same place, but he went to go introduce himself to her.
“Haven’t got a clue, baby girl. One sec.” He made his way down the stairs to where everyone was confused. But before he made it to her, Derek’s eyes caught on to something even more interesting than the visitor. It was the look on the resident genius’ face. With a smirk, he strutted to where the other man sat and placed his hand on his shoulder. Spencer jumped in his seat and looked to who had startled him out of his own thoughts.
“You should go introduce yourself, pretty boy. She looks a little lost.” The younger man pursed his lips and shook his head in defeat.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” While Spencer tried to turn back to the case files, his eyes kept flickering up to the young woman.
“Well, I think I’m gonna go introduce myself to her then.” And with that, Reid was forced to watch the spectacle of the enigma that was Derek Morgan in action.
“Hello, miss. Is there something I can help you with?” He stuck out his hand and waited for her to notice him. She looked down at his hand and offered a wave instead of reaching for it.
“Hi. I’m looking for Aaron Hotchner. Do you happen to know where he could be?” Her voice flowed like honey and Spencer was in heaven. He really needed to get a grip on his senses.
“Um, yes. I do. He’s up there, but you know Dr. Reid here could show where he is exactly. I’m running late for a meeting but I’ll be around if you need anything else.” Said Dr. Reid was starting to panic. Morgan was walking her towards his desk. Was his hair acceptable? Was his perpetually crooked tie still crooked? Was he slouching? She was getting closer and closer, and he could smell her perfume more heavily.
“This is Dr. Spencer Reid. Reid, this is… I didn’t actually get a name but I’m sure you’ll introduce yourself.” And with that, the suave agent left the two youngsters alone with each other. But they were not alone. Eyes stared at them from women all around the bullpen who were treating this like a mid day spa opera.
“Hi. I’m Reid, um Dr. Spencer Reid.” He raised his hand in a wave as he stood to greet the woman.
“Hi, I’m,” cut off from her introduction, was a deep voice sounding through the pen.
“Honey, is that you?” Mystery woman turned, and let out a bright smile at Aaron Hotchner who stood at the top of the stairs right outside his office.
“Hey. I was looking for you. I’ll be right there.” She turned back to the young doctor before her.
“It was nice meeting you Dr. Reid.” She turned to leave, but there was a moment that she hesitated. Spencer saw this, and without warning, or the ability to stop himself, he spoke.
“Did you know that in the Middle East Jasmine is typically called, ’Queen of the Night’ because the cooler temperatures and darkness allow the blossoms to emit a greater concentration of their scent? Also, the buds of the Jasmine plant are far more fragrant than the fully bloomed flowers?” As soon as he finished, Spencer cringed. He could not believe himself. Here he was trying not to make himself look like a fool in front of this mysteriously pretty woman, but that flew out with window with his big mouth and infinitely bigger brain.
“I did not know that. I’m quite shocked you picked up on that note. Everyone always smells vanilla.” With her body turned, Reid could not help but to profile her. Her shoulders were relaxed. One foot pointed towards Hotch and the other one him indicating that she wanted to keep her conversation going yet needed to turn and leave him. A soft smile let him know that she was genuinely interested in the conversation and her eyes sparkled at the knowledge that someone took the time with her.
“That’s because jasmine is not incredibly common in the perfume world, nor the botanical world. It’s a member of the olive family, although no one associates the two. Vanilla however is a far more common scent and is easier to use in bulk quantities to mask other fragrances.” He rambled. However unlike his colleagues, friends, family, and other women he had been interested in, she really seemed to appreciate his knowledge.
“Well, Dr. Reid, I always love learning new fun facts. Hopefully you’ll have some more for me when I come back out?” She looked towards him hopefully, and slowly turned to leave, keeping her eyes on him till the last second.
“Yeah. Definitely.” Spencer felt himself get giddy at the thought that she wanted to hear more fun facts when she came back. She wanted to come back. It almost felt to good to be true. He watched her ascend the stairs and get pulled into Hotch’s office before he returned to his paperwork. But the women of the bullpen and his team refused to let him forget that. Reid turned his face to where he felt the stares coming from and confusion twisted his features.
“What?” He was genuinely confused at their shocked faces. Emily’s jaw was on the floor, and JJ stared at him like he grew a second head. Penelope on the other hand just looked plain dumbfounded.
“What? What do you mean ‘what?’” Prentiss was the first to speak up.
“You talked with her.” Garcia spoke softly, trying to get over her shock.
“Well, she was nice and Morgan did kind of place her at my desk.” He tried to find himself lost within the papers on his desk, but it was in vain. Garcia marched her way over to his desk, and took the report out of Spencer’s hands to stare at him dead in the eye. He let out a noise of protest but that was overridden by the colorful woman’s own statement.
“Oh, you are smitten.” She stated so plainly.
“No! No, I’m not. Give me my report.” Spencer tried to take it from her hands but she stepped out of his way before he could take them back.
“His voice went up! 187 has got a crush on the mystery woman!” Her giddy tempo made the agent in front of her purse his lips in frustration. Reid stood up and tried once more to swipe the file, but was unsuccessful yet again.
“Garcia, give it back. I am not smitten nor do I have a crush.” He tried to protest, but even to him, his words sounded false.
“Oh, you are, my dear boy wonder. You’re blushing. I haven’t seen you blush in ages!” Penelope turned back to her female agents to gauge their reactions on her revelation. Spencer took this opportunity to take back his file with a snatch and go back to his desk.
“Spence, it’s fine to think she’s attractive. There’s nothing wrong with that.” JJ tried to reassure him in her motherly tone, but he still squirmed in his seat under the attention.
“I’m fine. There’s nothing going on. Sure, she’s pretty. But that’s it.” And with that, Spencer stuck his nose quite literally in the file that he was holding to get away from the scrutiny before him. However, he was unable to get away from it long, before he smelled jasmine’s again.
“I really appreciate you doing this dad. It means a lot to me.” Her voice carried through in the same way it had before. But now he was confused. Why was she calling Hotch dad? He only had one child, Jack.
“Anytime, honey. You need to come over for dinner at some point. Jack misses you, you know?” Now, everyone else’s attention was on the pair before them. Aaron’s hand helped her down the stairs and across the stair from her shoulders. He seemed to notice everyone’s eyes on them and turned before they made it out of the glass doors.
“Oh and this is, at least some of, my team that I was telling you about.” Everyone stood up to greet the woman standing near their unit chief.
“This is Emily Prentiss, Jennifer Jareau, Penelope Garcia, our tech analyst, and Dr. Spencer Reid.” Aaron introduced them one by one. And in that order, everyone shook her hands and greeted her with warm smiles and kind words.
“Doctor? What kind?” Her words held genuine intrigue, and Spencer could not help his smile from taking over his face.
“Um, the academic kind. I have three PhD’s.” A smile on her face overtook it in the same way it had his. Their eyes stayed locked onto each others, and neither felt the awkwardness of maintaining direct eye contact for that long.
“Everyone, this is my daughter.” He said her name, but everyone stopped for a moment and could not process this information. That hit everyone like a freight train.
“But, you don’t have any children other than Jack?” Garcia said so slowly that everyone could tell she was trying to wrap her head around the information before her.
“Well, when Haley and I were around seventeen, we got pregnant. But, realized that we were not in any capacity to take care of a child before we were out of high school or into adulthood. So we gave our daughter to a lovely couple that couldn’t conceive. We kept in contact and got regular updates throughout her life.” Aaron looked at his daughter with such adoration, everyone could see it.
“Now, she is about to finish up her second degree, and wants to go into law enforcement. Specifically, she’s thinking about joining the bureau and needed a letter of recommendation.” The words his boss said piqued Spencer’s interest.
“Second degree? What are the in?” He asked, trying to keep his voice level, but everyone could hear that tinge in it.
“My first was a PhD in criminal psychology, after getting a minor in psychology. Now I’m working on a BA in religious studies.” Reid was liking this girl more and more the more she talked.
“Oh, I could totally help with getting you into the bureau. I’ll give you my number and you just let me know when you put in your application. I can totally make sure you get into whatever department you want.” Garcia offered, her bubbly personality shining through her bright smile and fast hand movements.
“Garcia.” Hotch warned her with his tone.
“Totally legally, of course. I’m not doing anything that would jeopardize either one of our jobs. Nothing illegal, sir. Just want to help.” She stepped back just a little bit and held her hands in front of her to calm herself down.
“Well, I’ve gotta get going. I’ve still got work to do at home, but I’m hoping that I can see everyone here again.” She waved at everyone again, but stopped when she turned to the doctor in the room. Walking over, Spencer’s hands got all clams no matter how often he wiped them on his trousers. He could feel his heart beat out of his chest. Smelled her perfume getting closer. Jasmines and vanilla never seemed so enticing to him.
“I really want to continue our conversation from earlier. Maybe we can talk PhD’s or something similar. Here,” she handed a small card to him, “this is my number. Maybe we can meet for coffee sometime?” Hope laced her words, and Spencer felt giddy as he took the card from her hand. Their fingers brushed against each other and chose not to draw attention to the spark that flew.
“I’d really like that. Thank you.” He smiled at her, and ran his fingers over the ink on the business card in his hands. Aaron led her out of the glass doors afterwards, and everyone appeared to resume their work. Except, they did not. In fact, they watched Spencer return to his desk and set the card down within view.
“Pretty boy. My man!” Derek returned from where he watched the interaction with glee from the sidelines, and clapped the young agent on the back. This was now the second time today that he had done that.
“Spence got himself a date.” JJ sounded impressed and amused, and Morgan was eating it up. Beaming from ear to ear, he returned his attention to the man who just wanted to get some work done.
“Shut up.” Reid dismissed them quickly and it appeared to work. Although that may have also been because Hotch had just walked through the glass doors once more and no one wanted to be reprimanded today. All the agents dispersed, leaving the young doctor alone with his paperwork and thoughts.
However, his thoughts were overtaken when he could still smell that same perfume she had been wearing earlier. Spencer’s eyes drifted over to where that card laid perfectly against his desk. Bringing the card to his nose, he smelled perfume on it. It was still as intoxicating as when she was here. Setting it down, Reid turned back to his paperwork, and worked for the rest of the day in blissful silence. He knew that he would be smelling that perfume yet again, and soon.

Summary: Trent meets Y/n when she’s at her lowest and helps her to find herself again until she falls unrequitedly in love.
Angst & Fluff
Warnings: Reader has mental health issues
Note: I listened to this song while I was writing this ❤️‍🩹 + If you’re feeling alone or something like that, remember that you’re loved and you’re not alone in what you’re battling with 🫶🏻
﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋
It was just a normal day for Trent but for you it was more. You fell in love, with a guy who didn’t even want you. He just wanted to be loved. And so did you, more than ever. Turns out in the end that you were just a distraction, a person who he could lash out his feelings to, like it was nothing.
Whatever you thought you and Trent had, wasn’t love. It wasn’t real.
The day Y/n and Trent met
It was raining outside, it was cold as well. Trent hated the cold and wished he stayed home this day. Y/n on the other hand liked the cold but not the rain.
It was a real challenge for Y/n to get up from the bed this day. She just wanted to lay there all day, she liked the loneliness but still felt miserable.
Y/n got out of the bed and went on a walk outside, eyes still red and puffy from crying. The rain fell down on her and she wished she stayed at home. Y/n couldn’t help but cry, everything in her life felt meaningless at the moment.
She kept her head down as she walked and suddenly she dropped her phone, and figured she’d walked into someone. How embarrassing.
“Oh I’m so sorry.” Y/n apologised and the person handed her the phone.
“No worries!” He said and as you looked at him he noticed your red puffy eyes.
“Crazy whether today huh?” Y/n remarked and looked him in the eyes. They were brown and very pretty.
“Yeah, right.” He answered.
“What’s your name?” He added.
“Y/n, I live down the street.” You replied and the stranger shake his hand and said
“I’m Trent.”
You looked up to see that it stopped raining, and that’s how the story started.
Once you met Trent everything in your life stopped raining. Or so you thought.
-
From that day Trent could tell from your eyes that you’ve been crying. He wanted to know what was wrong and he didn’t even know you.
Months went by and you met Trent met each other on walks now and then, one thing lead to another and you were asked on a date.
You were nervous and overwhelmed, you couldn’t believe that this could happen to someone like you. You somehow felt special for the first time in a long time. Because Trent cared about you.
“I’m sorry you feel that way.” He expressed after you just ranted out all of your thoughts and feelings about your life. You were overthinking if you maybe shared too much, but you trusted him.
“It’s okay.” You answered and forced him a smile.
“How?” You implored.
“I think we’re alike in someways you know?” Trent observed, both of you chuckled.
“I mean I relate to that stuff with loneliness, you just want to be wanted. But I like being alone but not for too long.” He spoke up and you nodded in response.
“For a long time I’ve felt like there was no point in telling anyone what was happening inside of me.” You revealed and as you spoke Trent took your hand and draw small circles on your palm. He could see your eyes well up and wanted nothing more for you thank to be safe and okay.
“Y/n, listen to me. You are enough, okay? Don’t think that no one wants to listen to you, I do. I’ll be here for as long as you want.” Trent said softly as you dried your tears on your cheek.
You didn’t expect to cry on your first date, but it was something pure about the whole situation. You and Trent, two broken hearts are just beginning your “love story”.
4 months later
You’ve grown to love him and yourself.
You walked around in his house in his shirt that smells like him knowing that the smell of his perfume will soon fade, like his feelings for you.
You don’t know what’s going on anymore. You’re not in a relationship but you’re still here, in his house. Were you two just close friends? Who made love on the weekends, kissed each other whilst watching a movie one of you just put on to ignore the silence?
After months of being honest with each other you two couldn’t ignore the reality anymore. Deep down you knew you weren’t feeling better mentally, it was just Trent who made your days brighter and took your torment away.
For him you helped him feel at ease. He loved how he could tell you about things that happened in a match, he would be so angry and frustrated. But you were there for him. The greatest distraction he’s ever had. To you, he was the greatest thing you’ve ever had.
Then there was this silence.
“I don’t think I can go on like this any longer Trent.” You firmly said and looked at him, watching him close his eyes in frustration.
“I wish you wouldn’t look at me like that.” He mumbled.
“Like what?” You challenged.
“Like you could love me.” Trent angrily told you and you were shocked by his words.
“Don’t say that.” You sulked.
“Well, we can’t be together and we can’t be apart so I don’t know what to do Y/n.” He shrugged and sighed.
“It doesn’t matter anymore Trent!” You blustered and tears started flowing down your cheeks.
“The night you told me you love me,” You said laughed in disbelief. “I fucking believed you.”
Trent felt speechless. Perhaps he went too far with leading you on, thinking he loved you but the more he thought about it he just wanted to feel loved. He didn’t want to love.
“Well, then I’m sorry Trent that I loved you and it made you cruel.” You cried and began to walk towards the door before he stopped you.
“Y/n, I’m sorry.” Trent murmured but you didn’t listen.
“I should’ve never told you how I felt that night at the restaurant.” You said quietly as you were ready to leave him.
“Y/n, please.” He sighed.
“It was a long time ago anyways, it doesn’t matter anymore and yet I cannot let it go Trent.” You taunted and stood by the door, waiting for this daydream to end.
“Before you go,” He hesitated. “Don’t walk past me like a stranger next time I see you, please. He finished.
You laughed in response, I mean how were you supposed to live without him when you started living again because of him. Why didn’t he love you like you love him?
“Wasn’t it nice? To feel wanted even if it was just for a while?” Trent questioned, bringing up the feeling you felt before meeting him - to feel wanted.
“It wasn’t real Trent.” You said into the silence.
“But yes, it was nice.” You sniffled and looked down at the floor.
You stepped outside, it started raining once you started walking. Now everything was raining again, you lost him. He was the one you loved, the only one.
It pains you that he saved you but he never knew and he’ll never will.

☆♪Ace x childhood best friend reader (who he has a crush on)☆♪
Tumblr media
I’m trying to make my titles more appealing and fun to look at hopefully it’s working~!
(still not bothering with aesthetics this is something i personally wanna do)
For the record these are gender neutral so no worries
How y’all met? I’m not gonna go into specifics but you likely went into his territory
unless you met on one of his trips to the city for food n such
those three brothers are close and two didn’t trust easily back then
But once you make it in they’re circle there’s no backing down
from then on you always go to play with them and go on adventures together
they decided to keep you as a friend rather than a sibling
(back to present)~
ace honestly loves you because you accepted him, your cool, your (likely) strong whether that’s mentally or physically and most of all you’ve stuck by his side all this time
even him and luffy went they’re separate ways to become pirates
but you? You two met and have never separated since
you’ve literally kept your promise not to leave unlike no other
your always there
finally he has someone in his corner
and someone as cool as you?? How could he not fall in love 😍😍
Really he figured it out while just spacing out one day real early
like early enough to see the sunrise
he was just staring off, scouting just in case, although his mind was mostly on you
he laughed to himself thinking about memories of you two
and even more so that your still here
he noticed how nervous he now was to talk to you when you got up
he had a funny feeling in his stomach, his hands/breathing was jittery and he kept running his hand through his hair, trying to fight a smile
he was so incredibly nervous yet excited to see you!!
but why?! Today’s an ordinary day!
what is he some kind of love sick puppy?!…
lovesick?
LOVE???
WAIT WHAT THE CRAP HE NEVER CONSIDERED THAT!!
wait….no way, right?? He’s in love??
bro WHAT?! HE’S IN LOVE??
he’s..in love with (name)
wow…all this time he never even thought of that
NOW HE REALIZES HOW FLIRTY HE’S BEEN WITH YOU?!
it wasn’t even intentional!!
and now that he realizes it…….he always has the funny feeling every time he talks to you!
and his heart spikes when you call him!
bro…..wow.
*sits there in realization for the next hour*
how he acts when he has a crush:
Honestly he’s just trying to impress you and make you happy in every way
he acts chivalrous, paying for all the diners you stop at, opening doors, pulling out chairs, reminding you of things, grabbing your coat, doing you favors (ones you didn’t ask for but appreciate)
yes this is all very cliche and cheesy but you can’t go wrong with that right??
I mean…does it look like he knows how to love?! 😀
he never met either of his parents!! 😬🤦‍♀️
bro is trying his best okay?? 🤷‍♀️
he playfully shows off
he does it in a way that’s not annoying too, it doesn’t feel like he’s bragging when he does it
”hurrrr look at my big musclessss! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ”
LOLLL
he does it in a way that makes you laugh so it seems more like a joke
he gets you meaningful trinkets and stuff he remembers you like/said your wanted
when you two join the WBP
he also asks Marco and Izo for advice on how to act around you (just act normal bro)
as well as whitebeard!!
Thatch too
he rambled to literally everyone except you about you
then he has to beg and do favors for them not to tell you all the cheesy/embarrassing things he says
goodness Ace 🤦‍♀️
he goes around like a love sick puppy for a few weeks ranting about you and celebrating about becoming a man (😂💗)
but then when Marco asks when he’s gonna ask you out….
Ace FREAKS out.
like he literally forgot about that part-
IS IT TOO LATE?! DID YOU ALREADY FIND ANOTHER MAN??-
wait you two are childhood best friends you would’ve told him 🤨
oh.
okay well great!-
now……how does he confess?🧍‍♀️
seriously he doesn’t know how. He doesn’t know what to say, do or give you
OR where to do it OR when OR if he’s even good enough OR if you won’t like him..
WAIT WHAT IF HE’S NOT A GOOD ENOUGH BOYFRIEND?!
wait..WHAT IF YOU DON’T LOVE HIM BACK⁉️
He’s feels like giving up already😞
theres so many women/men in the world why would you want some lost parentless pirate who questions his existence…
now when he goes to Marco and says all that he just laughs at him and calls him emo 😊
no but in all seriousness he brings Ace back to his senses and reminds him about what if you DO love him back 😏
😮🤩🤩
he forgot all about that!- (😀)
WAIT WHAT IF YOU DO LIKE HIM BACK!!
THIS IS SO EXCITING!!
him and Marco run to find izo and have a bro meeting immediately
which happens and the three immediately start planning the confession >:3
they put they’re heads together to conjure something they know you’d like but doesn’t seem too sappy
his confession !! 🤩
the next time the ship stops at an island he takes you to a calm beach area where you relax and have some fun all day
your nakama are around but it mostly just seem like the world is just you and Ace right now
midday is when Ace strikes!
this was izo’s idea
no! it’s not because if he had to wait the next day to interact with you as his girlfriend he wouldn’t get any sleep >:(
Ace brought the topic to your childhood past together as you ate lunch and at some point you didn’t notice he transitioned to how he feels about you and how much he cares about you and that it would be everything to him if you became his girlfriend.
now it’s your turn to ‘WAIT WHAT’ :)
that was so smooth!
you didn’t even notice he was trying to confess until the end!
Wow did that surprise you!
at least your muscles were still working so that you could nod your head because you certainly didn’t know what to say!
____________「what do you say?」____________
____________Yes. No.____________ ________________________ (mini bonus): if you aspired to be a pirate, simply don’t mind or would like to support his dream, you joined the spade pirates! (Which obviously gets consumed into the whitebeard pirates, but hey your captain made the decision so you don’t mind). If your strong he’ll make you vice captain since your his first ever nakama. <3 otherwise you might be the navigator, medic or something else your good at! Likely not something that puts you in immediate danger though. He worries about the ones he loves leaving him too much for that.
HOPE YOU ENJOYED LOVLIES !! 🦋🦋
I need to write about ace more but I also needs get past the impel down arc but I also don’t (spoiler) wanna watch his death but I also wanna see more of his backstory and finish one piece and- 。.:*。.:*💥 _:(´o`」 ∠): …… d( ̄ ̄) - I’m good

did i rant to my friends about dorian and orym just to be called a simp? yes i did. and i'll do it again.
these two characters? consume my waking thoughts. because just fucking think about this from a timeline/literary point of view for a second with me.
orym lost his husband and his father-in-law (who he always calls dad because he didn't have a dad growing up) in a violent attack on his leader a while ago and whatever magic was used to kill them kept them dead - no reviving magic worked to bring them back. in the space of a single attack, he lost two of the most important people in his life, and now he's a widow who still mourns and loves in equal measure even while far from home trying to save the world. he loves even though he's scared of losing again.
dorian is a runaway heir to a title he never really wanted, a musician for himself, a charlatan hiding behind an easy smile, who has really only ever wanted to see the world in his own time and make real friends for once in his life. and he did that! all on his own! he was with the group at the beginning of the campaign but then they ran into his older brother who was in trouble and needed to lay low and dorian went with him, falling back on old instincts that family by blood comes first. he ran from the group and from the foundations he was building with them. because dorian has only ever run from the things that scare him. but now he's back, re-traced his frightened footsteps toward the daunting promise of tomorrow - not yet with the group, we're getting his side of the story first. and he even said it himself, that he ran from the group and now he's not sure why he did it, why he left, when he stands here now and realizes everything he wanted was already in front of him.
they have sending stones, a once a day chance to say something to each other in 25 words or less. they've been using them, keeping each other updated on where they are, that they're still alive, and kindling this flame even without dorian at the table, without even seeing each other, and liam has been carrying this torch alone for 78 episodes but damn it the flame is still lit regardless!
and orym always updates on their progress and location first, and with whatever words he has left he drops in a sentiment to remind dorian that they still care - that orym still cares. and orym is practical through and through, he's a strategist so he always always always uses his words wisely because he's so fucking limited by this spell but the last message he sent? he repeated himself, he admitted a weakness, he faltered.
he told dorian where they were. he asked if dorian could come their way. he admitted to struggling while his voice broke. he asked again but in a different way if dorian could come their way. he ended the message with the most heartbreaking "fuck, i miss you," i have ever heard in my life.
orym, the man who messaged dorian 52 episodes ago and said "glad you're not here, wish you were anyway." because they're constantly in danger, and he wouldn't wish that on dorian, but he still aches to have him near. orym, the man who confessed 13 episodes ago during a trial with his friends that he's lonely, that he misses dorian and sometimes he thinks it's okay and sometimes he doesn't - because he was married and is still mourning and how dare he have feelings for someone else? how dare he move on even when his husband would WANT him to be happy again? he indicated dorian was missed by everyone in three of his previous messages before the trial, before finally shifting to 'I, orym, me - it's me who misses you'.
and dorian, the one who replied to a message orym sent him with "stay steadfast, sending you fairer winds" in the most longing tone i have EVER heard. dorian, who kissed orym's forehead when they parted ways but that is the closest they have come to acknowledging whatever is between them. dorian, who has been to orym's home between exu and c3 and met orym's mom and knows about orym's husband.
when orym died 58 episodes ago, he went limp and the sending stone slipped out of his hand because he was trying to message dorian before he died, before he ran out of words and breath. before he was revived, there was a moment he stood in the beyond and saw his husband and he told orym "you're not done," and orym said "i really wish i could stay," and then his husband said "i'll still be here," and orym said, heartbroken, "oh, i miss you so bad."
he told dorian, "i've really missed you," and "fuck, i miss you." i miss you is orym's way of saying i love you.
they're so close. they are so close. and orym fully died 19 episodes after dorian left, but he was revived and then never told dorian via sending that happened. part of me wants dorian to find out and the other part hopes he never has to feel like he failed orym by leaving. because nothing could have changed that from happening, not even dorian.
they are so close to reuniting, orym has needed dorian back for WEEKS and he's so close. i'm begging them to hold on so they can hold each other again.
and, again, from a literary point of view, you know the wildest part about all of this?
none of it is scripted.

a love worth waiting for - chs
content : bsf!vernon x f!reader ; a lil angsty but fluff & happy ending ; 1.5k words warnings : vernon curses like 2ce lol - you are the most important person to vernon, but is it requited? an : i keep going on random writing hiatuses for no reason even tho i have so many ideas idek someone sos!!
Tumblr media
vernon has loved you ever since he met you. as cheesy as it sounds, its something he cant deny whenever his friends ask him about, something he rants for hours about to his sister, something he finds himself thinking about more often than not.
he remembers it like it was yesterday, even if its been years. it was an unusual meeting; seeing a pretty girl on a walk in the middle of summer would usually be normal, if only he didn't trip on a rock and land awkwardly conveniently on your path… and then make a comment on how his sister has the same shoes as you as if you’d care.
but you did. you made sure he was okay and laughed at his comment, then blabbered something about how your boyfriend has a similar hat to him. and, oh. he should've seen that coming.
of course he should have. such a put together, sweet girl would obviously have lines of guys lining up at her feet (or falling, in hansols case). but that didn’t matter - you only just met, you’d probably become friends if he asked for your number, that would be enough for him.
and for the first few months it was enough. you hit it off great, messaging each other often and even hanging out occasionally… well, when your jackass boyfriend let you. he hated your boyfriend - no, despised him. it wasn't even a case of jealousy; more of a genuine worry, at least for a while. he made it vocal on how he doesn’t like how your boyfriend controlled your life, but obviously supported your choices anyway. who wouldn't? you became his best friend, he would do anything to see you happy.
behind the worry he presented, vernon was stuck.
“i don't get it, why would she be with him if he's so.. controlling and mean?” everyday he called his friends.
“she literally looks unhappy, i feel bad and.. i dunno, angry... is that stupid?” everyday he talked about it, about how he wants to help you and, well, about you. “shes so… nice and pretty and forgiving. dude, he really doesn’t deserve her.”
until one day, “i could treat her better.”
he accepted it. he knew it wasn’t fair, for him or for you. everything leading up to that moment that he did, he thought it was simply sympathy. he put on this friendly act to not hurt your feelings, but maybe it was to not hurt his own. you wore your heart on your sleeve. it was obvious you were in love with your boyfriend, not him. and no matter what he did, that wouldn’t change.
soon you noticed the same things that vernon begged you to see in your boyfriend for a very long time. the gaslighting, restrictiveness, the bored attitude, and when you drifted apart it was only a waiting game till you broke it off.
vernon was surprised that the way his eyes sparkled when you came to cry to him didn’t give him away. truthfully, he couldn’t care less about the way it all went down or what he told you while you broke up with him. what mattered was that you were out of the situation you were blinded in.
“he was a fucking dick,” no brainer, “its unfair - y'know, someone you love being out of reach.” those words sounded awfully familiar.
actually, maybe to him what mattered more is that he finally could reach you.
“i still love him,” you mumbled between your tears as vernon cooed at you.
he should've seen that coming too, and he couldn’t blame you at all - ever. but why did it sting so much more than the first time?
when he searched for your laugh after making a joke, you were laughing out of pity. when he comforted you, you weren’t thinking about him and how he was always there for you, instead you were thinking about yourself. when home to him was wherever you were, home to you was wherever your ex boyfriend was.
you just lost someone so dear to you and he was being so selfish.
you two breaking up should've been the greatest thing he has heard in months, but instead he suddenly couldn’t help but feel like there was a bigger wall between you both than ever.
of course, you never had feelings for him in the first place. vernon knew that. but something in him always held onto the possibility of you ending up together. not anymore, not after those four words left your mouth. he felt stupid for ever even having hope.
he paused to think before he spoke - something he rarely ever did when he was with you. “i know you do.” shaking his head gently, he added, “your heart just got broken, its a fresh wound, of course you still love him.” did everything he say have to apply to him too? it was almost humiliating in a way.
“its embarrassing… im the one who broke it off, i shouldn’t like him.” right, you felt it too.
at the end of the day, no matter who he was to you, you recognised him as someone you could trust. you spoke your thoughts freely, you were always by his side, you were his best friend; thats something vernon failed to see. he understood now to expect nothing but appreciate everything. because after all, being your friend would always be enough for him.
vernon promised himself he wouldn’t do or say anything stupid for your sake. he knew breakups are tough, and he knew that feelings don’t change in a day. he loved you, so he never would blame you for anything negative you made him feel. he wouldn’t blame you because you didn’t know.
or so he thought.
because months later when you arrived at his door looking more nervous than usual with a small smile on your face, vernon couldn’t be more confused.
“its almost 11pm.. what’re you doing here…?”
you let yourself in, setting your shoes aside and placing your coat on the hanger before grabbing his hand and dragging him to the couch to sit down.
“is it true?”
“...is what true?”
“is it true that you have feelings for me?”
was that a trick question? “i mean..” he cleared his throat with a harsh cough, leaving the room silent for a few moments that felt like hours. “is that really what you’re doing at my house at 11 in the evening?”
“stop it. stop avoiding the question. just answer me.”
“where’d you even get that idea from? dude i mean, you’re my best friend so if you’re asking -”
“you know what im asking..” your hands felt clammy, suddenly regretting knocking on the door after debating if you should for a solid 5 minutes. “i’m.. not mad or anything.” you added.
this was the million dollar question. he felt scared. “ha..” he couldn’t help but scoff to himself, “yeah.” though his tone tried being confident, the lack of eye contact and leg jittering was enough to see how nervous he truly was.
“im… so sorry,” you stared at him with your nose slightly scrunched - a detail he noticed whenever you were upset. “what? sorry? pfft.. theres nothing to be sorry for.” you figured he’d say that.
“im sorry for not noticing it earlier. i feel like an idiot.”
“no.. i feel like the idiot.” he quickly butted in, trying to take the blame, “you shouldn’t have to ‘notice’ anything. i should have told you ages ago so we could get past… whatever this is. i was just being a pussy and i -”
you admired his dedication to try explain but decided to stop him. “no vernon, im sorry for making you wait.”
making him wait? “what are you even talking about? you didn’t do anything i swear…”
“maybe you really are the idiot..” you suddenly smiled a little wider, catching him off guard, “i meant i'm sorry for not noticing my feelings.. for you.. earlier.”
if he was confused before, he was now completely dumbfounded. the frown on his face wiped into a completely new expression. one of certain shock and hope, but with an equal amount of doubt.
“agh..” you groaned in fake annoyance, feeling your cheeks heat up in embarrassment, “i’m telling you that i like you too.”
oh. for once, he didn’t see that coming.
“are you serious?” he mumbled out, struggling to process the consumed information, a million things going through his mind.
“no im lying.” you tilted your head, “obviously im serious, why else would i be here?”
“you’re right.. i don’t know why i said that.” he nodded, a smile forming on his own face, “im just… at a loss of words dude.”
he let go of a breath he didn’t notice he was holding, sighing from relief as he looked at you. no more words were exchanged before he moved closer to hug you. a hug of love, ease and joy.
“if so.. can i be your boyfriend?” he whispered in a happier tone than before, the previous fear moulded into delight.
“yeah. i’d like that a lot.”

The type of person they'd end up dating
Characters: Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Hitoshi Shinso
CW: Everyone is referred to in the 3rd person, swearing, insecurity, gn pronouns for the partner, Shinso's went kinda into a scenario,
A/N: I had no idea how to phrase the title of this, but oh well. Also this is just what I think they would realistically be into, you don't have to agree with my opinion
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya
He'd probably date someone patient, someone who would support and encourage him, as well as listen to his rants. He'd like to train with his partner, but would also enjoy someone who would clean the scratches and put ice on the bruises he gets It's likely that he'd end up with someone who's calm, but a bit extroverted, because in the crushing stage, and very early in the relationship he'd be very nervous, and they'd probably have to start the conversations. He needs someone non-judgmental. He's self-conscious about a lot of things, and he needs someone who will love him despite his secrets and odd quirks. In summary, someone who is supportive, understanding, and patient.
Katsuki Bakugo
Another person who needs a patient partner. He can be a lot to handle, especially considering how many emotions he hides with his anger. He needs someone who will understand his situation, and will accept him. Not someone who would try to fix him. He would probably end up with someone who is calm and polite, but who's not afraid to put him in his place when he's being an asshole. He'd most likely go to his partner after bad days and just sit there with them. He'll need some probing if he's going to talk about how he's feeling, because it's highly unlikely he'd talk about his emotions unprompted. In summary, someone who is patient, calm, but bold
Hitoshi Shinso
He'd do best with someone who would be quiet, but not shy. Like, just less interested in groups and parties, and who would prefer to be alone. Someone who he could just do his own thing by, but still enjoy each other's company. And of course someone who would go to cat cafes with him. When he first met them, it would be something like sitting at the same table in the library cause all the other ones were full, or had loud people sitting at them. He liked the way they looked when he first met them (like aesthetic attraction), but it didn't go beyond that until he got to know them. But he would need someone who would fully trust him in the relationship, despite his quirk. He'd like someone who would listen and at least try to understand his struggles with his quirk. In summary, someone who is introverted, calm, and understanding

omg i can’t believe ruben won the poll with like one vote! thank you so much everyone who voted and this is the story you’ve been waiting for, this is more like a prologue and make sure to give any opinions about the story to help me carry on💖
————
pairing: Ruben Dias x Y/N
summary: falling for your best friend is a bad idea, everyone knows that but what if it’s too late?
genre: again, a bit of everything
————
This is a story of two best friends.
Ruben was your best friend in the world, he was the one you turned to whenever things went south and he did the same. He listened to your daily rants about from people on the streets to your secrets, your relationship was perfect. You even got a job at Manchester and took the offer just to be closer to him and he was so grateful about your sacrifice.
So when did it become complicated? 6 months ago you were just dumped by the guy you were seeing and were fed up about not finding the one. Ruben, being the best friend he is, drove to you after his game and gave you his opinion on the topic.
“I think you’re too high maintenance.” he said whilst stealing a spoonful of ice cream from your part. He was extremely careful with his diet but this was after a match so he didn’t care.
“Hey!” you said both for stealing your snack and saying you’re high maintenance. “I’m not” you said offended but he just laughed.
“No okay I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant you have your standards and you get frustrated when they aren’t met.” he shrugged, if this was any other day, you’d think about this but tonight you were in defence mode.
“You’re one to talk, you can’t even find someone to have 2 consecutive dates for months because ‘oh Y/N I don’t know, she’s nice but…’
Now it was his turn to get offended.
“I need someone who can handle my lifestyle. It’s not easy, you know.”
You didn’t know how this conversation turned into you being laid down on your back in his bed taking him while he whispered in your ear how good you were. This was the first time it happened, something that you feared would change your relationship permanently. You couldn’t even blame this on alcohol as Ruben hardly drank, it was just your instincts and needs. Things became awkward immediately and you didn’t know how to approach it. After a few days with no contact, you decided it was stupid and childish to avoid each other and called him.
He came over to your place to talk and you had agreed about this being a one time thing because if it escalated, it’d put you in a hard position. It was actually Ruben who said it and you couldn’t say no because it was the truth. Two best friends hooking up was not the smart thing to do.
However, your infatuation with your best friend didn’t stop there. In fact, it only grew stronger because now you paid attention to his every move and blushed when he held you. You tried to be strong but one night out with the girls made you crawl back to Ruben, you called him after the night slowed down and asked him to pick you up. You normally wouldn’t knowing his early practice sessions but you couldn’t help it and once you walked in his house you threw yourself at him. You actually weren’t black out drunk but decided to go for it anyway because if he pushed you away you could blame it on the alcohol but he didn’t push you or yell at you. He kissed you back immediately holding your waist and telling you to jump. You had your second mind blowing sex that night.
It continued like this for a while, you thought it’d just be sexual and maybe it could’ve worked. Casual sex as best friends with benefits but it had to feel normal, you were spending even more time together now and most of it was just hanging out and doing things you enjoy, nothing too crazy or romantic but one thing that changed was you cuddled which was one of the first times ever. Before this, you only cuddled when the other needed extreme support but now you were all over each other at any given minute. At least that’s what it was like up until Ruben left the country for a camp for a whole month. You kept in touch but it wasn’t all day every day and you just figured he was busy.
You were currently getting ready for one of your friends wedding and this was also the first time you were going to see Ruben after a long while. As you were touching up your make-up your best friend Elena came in.
“Hey” she said trying to be calming but she had on a weird look.
“Hey, what’s up?”
“Heyy, are you Ruben’s plus one for the night?”
“What? No, I’m not, why?”
“Well, the planner just said there was a plus one in his invitation and I thought you’d get your own invitation but just wanted to double check.” she said nonchalantly but you froze for a moment before replying.
“Um, it’s not me. Maybe he’s bringing a friend.” you said confused about it but Elena was too occupied in herself to notice.
“You didn’t talk?”
“Nope, he’s been at a camp for a month.”
“Oh yeah” she said and went on talking about his relationship drama but you lost focus quickly.
Your confusion soon turned to shock when you finally saw who was Ruben’s plus one. It was Angela.
Angela was Ruben’s ex and she was a gorgeous girl, she was quite nice actually and she never had any problems with your closeness with Ruben which is all you can ask for your best friend’s girlfriend. At least it was until you hooked up with him. Now you didn’t know how you should feel although there was a little sting at your heart.
Your mind was racing with thoughts, this means that they’re back. Does she know, why hadn’t he said anything, how were you supposed to react? All this time you thought this was as innocent as it can get, just two best friends helping each other out but right now, you were questioning your feelings towards Ruben for the first time. You felt your stomach turn at the thought of him with Angela, but you quickly told yourself this was wrong. It was probably because the sex was out of this world and nothing else, it was just a stupid phase people go through and come out the other end stronger. Ruben was happy with Angela and apparently they found their way back to each other. As a best friend you should be happy about it and forget the newly found emptiness in your chest. This meant you had to step back immediately to let him be with the woman he actually loved. This was the right thing to do for both your sakes.
You realized you were stood there watching them for a while and decided to sneak out before they see you but just as you were turning around Ruben’s gaze found yours and every positive affirmation you gave yourself about not caring went out the window.

So Many Signs | Lewis x Nico
Summary: Sometimes regular elevator rides can lead to unexpected evenings.
Warnings: smut, angst, fluff
Tumblr media
That damn elevator.
Lewis greeted some of the staff members on his way to the shiny metal doors. All he wanted to do was get to his penthouse, get a drink and get in bed. His day had been filled with meetings, phone calls, more meetings, more phone calls.
As he waited for the elevator, he felt a familiar pinch in his chest. It was very subtle, and he almost ignored it. Until the elevator doors parted and he met a pair of familiar eyes. That pinch in his chest was too prominent to ignore now.
Lewis hesitated only a second before he stepped inside the metal box. There was Nico, dressed in a full, tailored black suit for some reason. He looked like a magazine model. Blond hair styled perfectly. Right hand in his pocket, left hand holding his phone. His thumb hovering over the screen like he’d been typing but stopped when he saw Lewis.
They both stared at each other for a fraction of a second. Lewis then went in, and stood beside Nico.
“Hey,” Lewis said, casually. He hoped Nico would pretend not to hear and keep quiet, but the latter always heard. And always responded.
“Hey,” Nico said.
This scene had occurred too many times now. Too many times had Lewis called the elevator only to find his ex best friend inside already. Too many times had they both had to suffer in silence inside the metal box until they each got out at their respective floors.
And each time, it was just as tense as the first time. That damn awkward silence.
Fuck, Lewis thought, why today? Why right now? As if he didn’t have a hard enough day already. Now this? This awkward silence felt heavy and painful.
Soon, the enclosed space was filled with both of their colognes. It smelt expensive and divine. Somehow, Nico always smelt familiar. No matter the day, no matter the time. There was something comforting in his scent, even now.
“Rough day?” Nico asked, surprising Lewis only a little bit.
Normally after a simple ‘Hey’ from both men, the elevator rides were quiet. But Nico was in a chatty mood it seemed. Lewis nodded.
“Yeah,” Lewis sighed, “It’s like the moment I cross something off my to-do list, twice as many things just appear on the list. Like cutting the head of Hydra or some shit.”
The men shared a laugh. Nico’s laugh remained the same, like when he was a boy. A wave of nostalgia so strong hit Lewis that he felt he was losing his balance. But it was just Nico’s laugh. His scent. His voice.
For a second, Lewis wondered what it would be like if they were still friends. What if Nico had retired purely just because, and not because of the rivalry that tore them apart? Would they share easier laughs? Would Lewis then have a friend to whom he could rant about his day to? Would it be like this? Except forever?
Lewis wasn’t so tense anymore as he turned his head to look at Nico. Lewis immediately frowned as he looked at who was once his best friend in the entire world. “What happened?” He asked before he could stop himself.
Nico looked so sad that Lewis asked the question before he even processed it properly. Usually the blond stood proud and tall, slightly arrogant looking. But now, he looked so distraught. It was not too visible, but as someone who once knew how to read Nico like a book, Lewis caught it immediately.
Nico turned to look at Lewis, a little surprised that the latter could figure out something was wrong just by looking at him.
Whenever they saw each other, Nico always wanted to be cold and be as distant as possible. But then whenever Lewis was close by, Nico just couldn’t be cold. There Lewis was, standing there in his loose t-shirt, and baggy pants. Braids tied into a little ponytail. Chains around his neck, rings on his fingers, tattoos all over his skin… and his pretty brown eyes. Eyes so familiar that Nico sometimes forced himself to look away.
Sometimes Nico wondered, when he looked at Lewis, what it would be like if they were still friends. Would Lewis make fun of Nico’s clothes, and tease him for what he wore? Would Lewis be the one Nico calls if he ever needed advice on something? Nico was not quite as adventurous or an adrenaline junkie as Lewis was, but he wondered if things would be different if they were still friends? Would Lewis manage to convince him to jump out of a plane together?
He felt the wire around his heart tighten a little more as he met Lewis’ eyes. ‘What happened?’ Lewis had asked.
“Nothing,” Nico lied, “Just tired. Dinner party I went to was exhausting.” He could’ve stopped there, but he felt like sharing, pretending that he was sharing stuff with Lewis who is still his best friend, “You know how pretentious people can be? Fake smiles and fake concerns. Asking you about work and what you did during the weekend like they care.” Nico chuckled.
Lewis smiled faintly. He was quiet for a second or two, then said, “We used to make fun of people like that, remember?”
Nico felt his hand shake. He hid it by clenching his phone harder than necessary. Of course he remembered.
Suddenly Nico flashed back to dinner parties and other events he attended with Lewis. He never looked forward to those things, he even hated them at times. But it was okay, because Lewis was beside him all the time. If Lewis was there, all was okay. Boring dinners, boring conversations, fake smiles… back then everything was tolerable when Lewis was beside him.
But now Lewis wasn’t with him. For almost a decade now, Nico had to face those things alone. And a sudden wave of anger washed over him. It went away as quickly as it came, but it lingered for long enough for Nico to mutter bitterly, “Oh I remember.”
Lewis looked away immediately, breaking eye contact first. Nico knew exactly why. Because Lewis remembered too.
Nico knew that they were both thinking about those nights. Dinners, lavish parties, pretty women, shallow conversations, the fame, the glamour… and yet in every room, they searched for each other’s eyes.
Then there were the moments that only happened in the dark at or after those parties and events. The moments that were somehow always the alcohol’s fault. The moments that were never talked about when the sun came up in the morning. The moments that were magically forgotten in the paddock. Moments that were never mentioned.
Soft lips that tasted like whiskey and rum. Eager hands, often shaky. Messy, wet kisses. Always having to be careful not to leave marks behind on each other’s skin. Fingers messing up each other’s hair. Whispered words in the dark, pleading each other to be quiet, and how they’d be in trouble if caught.
Lewis felt Nico’s stare burning the side of his face. There was an unspoken accusation in that stare. There was anger, and hurt. But mostly accusations. How could you leave me? I’m miserable without you and it’s your fault.
Lewis wanted to scream at him back. It wasn’t just my fault. I’m miserable without you too, I lost you too.
Then Lewis found himself speaking before he could process it again, “Do you want to come to my place for a drink?”
Nico had never been up there. It’s crazy to think that if they were still friends, living in the same building would mean they would often hang out together. Maybe Nico would have a favourite spot on Lewis’ couch, and vice versa. Maybe they would leave and forget their things behind at each other’s place, and that would be okay.
Those thoughts, along with a sudden yearning for what could have been made Nico say yes. “Sure.”
“Nice place,” Nico commented as he walked through Lewis’ foyer and into the living room. He didn’t know what else to say, the penthouse looked like only Lewis could live there.
Clever art pieces. Colourful decor. Everything was well thought out. Every single detail.
“Thanks,” Lewis said as he walked over to the bar on the other side of the space. Nico followed.
As he sat on one of the bar stools, Nico said, “I’m assuming half of this place is just your closet.” He wanted to see if there was room for jokes and teasing between them. He just wanted a sign from Lewis, a greenlight, anything.
“Shut up, man.” Lewis laughed, openly this time. The kind of laugh Nico had only seen and heard in videos of Lewis, never in real life, not in a decade at least. Nico took that as a sign.
He loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top of his shirt as he watched Lewis make two drinks. Nico expected Lewis to show off his own brand of agave spirit, but instead found Lewis pouring whiskey over ice. So he asked, “No Almave?” It sounded way more cocky than he intended it to.
Lewis turned to give Nico a sassy look, they both chuckled as Lewis shook his head and said, “I think we both could use some alcohol.”
Nico couldn’t help the scoff. Lewis caught it, but didn’t comment on it.
Nico murmured a thanks as Lewis slid a whiskey glass towards him across the counter. Lewis remained on the other side, as if needing that barrier between him and his once best friend.
He opened his mouth to ask something, but then he noticed something on Nico’s hand. Or lack of something rather. No wedding ring. He wasn’t gonna ask about it, but Nico caught him looking as well.
“I, uh, took it off for a while.” He said. He was going to say that he sent it to a jeweller to get it cleaned but decided not to lie. “Viv and I… We’ve been having problems.” He grimaced as he said it, almost regretting it. Lewis wasn’t his friend, why open up to him? He shouldn’t trauma dump, he had no right. Not anymore.
Nico thought he should leave, but then Lewis asked in a lowered voice, “Do you wanna talk about it?”
Nico chuckled humorlessly, “I shouldn’t.” He said, then looked up to meet Lewis’ kind, big brown eyes. Eyes like that should be illegal. They made you want to melt. Warm, caring, everything Lewis hadn’t been during those years that broke them apart. And now Lewis was looking at him like Nico was a wounded animal he wanted to care for.
How dare he? Nico couldn’t help but frown. His emotions were all over the place and Nico wanted to blame Lewis for it all. Even though he probably shouldn’t.
Lewis was quiet, then asked, “Where are the girls?”
To which Nico replied, “With their mom. We decided to spend some time apart and see where that takes us. The girls are our main priority right now.”
Lewis nodded. He understood, to some extent. He himself had never been in situations like these. His last real relationship had been so long ago he could barely remember what it was like. All he knew was that Nico seemed so sad. Like he was already mourning a relationship that wasn’t over yet.
He had seen that look on Nico’s face before. During those years which put their friendship to the test. Nico, now that Lewis thought, always knew their friendship wouldn’t last. Lewis often thought about those years, and it seemed that Nico had mourned the loss of their bond even before it snapped. He walked around with this same look on his face even back then.
How dare he? Lewis thought, suddenly feeling the need to demand answers. How dare he not fight for them back then? Why did he give up on them like he is now?
“I’m sorry, man.” Lewis said, truthfully. “I hope you both work things out.”
Nico shrugged, taking another sip of his drink and trying his hardest not to stare at Lewis’ tattooed hands on the counter. He always did have nice hands, but lately as he’s aged, his hands somehow look just as mature, hard-working, and elegant as Lewis himself.
“That’s easier said than done.” Nico said, as he looked back into Lewis’ eyes.
That damn look. Lewis tried very hard to ignore that accusatory look in Nico’s eyes. Suddenly he thought that maybe inviting him here was a mistake. Was it? Lewis noted a few things about Nico. The smile lines, the crinkles by his eyes, the tired look in his eyes, but fuck that hurt and anger in his stare couldn’t be ignored.
It wasn’t fair of Nico to look at him like this. So Lewis, despite knowing it was wrong, found himself saying, “It will be if you don’t give up like you did in the past.”
Oh, the silence which followed was unlike anything either man had ever experienced. This was it. This was the moment that would determine the future of whatever kept them bound together. If Nico stood up and walked out of here, Lewis thought, he would never speak to him again. If Nico stayed and argued, it would be ugly. But Nico was quiet, a faint smirk on his face. That familiar, handsome face.
A chuckle left Nico’s mouth before he asked, “Are we going to pretend like it was my fault, like you didn’t give up on us?”
So direct, it made Lewis chuckle. “It’s been almost a decade. I think we should probably stop accusing each other.” It also made his heart race. This subject hadn’t been discussed, ever. They never had a conversation about it in the past years.
Guess they were having it now.
Nico nodded slowly, “This is what you do, isn’t it?” He asked, his tone bitter and cold. “You run.” He accused. “From everything.”
Lewis placed his glass down on the counter. He took his time in formulating an answer. He didn’t want to say the wrong thing and ruin what is already ruined even more. But by the time he even opened his mouth, Nico stood up and shook his head at him.
“This was a mistake,” Nico said, Lewis rolled his eyes at him. “I never should’ve come here.” Nico started walking towards the foyer again.
Lewis walked around the counter and grabbed his elbow to stop him. He always hated being the shorter one of the two, just by a few centimetres, but he hated it still. “Who’s fucking running now, huh?” Lewis refused to let go until Nico had turned to face him completely.
Nico was quiet, he just stared.
“I thought we could talk like adults,” Lewis explained. “But it’s good to know you’re still holding on to things that no longer matter. Real mature. It’s good to see that you think I’m still the villain in your story or whatever.” Lewis shook his head, muttering quietly, “So dramatic,” under his breath.
“Oh really?” Nico was pissed now. “You think it no longer matters?”
Lewis was quiet for a while, then said, “I’m trying here, alright? I know we can’t go back to how it used to be but I thought maybe we could start on a fresh page.”
“We could,” Nico said, and added, “If you admit that you were wrong–,”
Lewis cut him off with an exasperated sigh, “There we go, classic Nico blaming me for shit I didn’t do.”
“What do you mean shit you didn’t do? We were both there,” Nico explained, “We both know what happened. Now if you want to pretend that it–,”
Lewis cut him off again. “We were best friends,” He said, raising his voice a little, “And then–,”
Nico cut him off this time, anger taking over as he raised his voice as well. “We were more than that and you know it! And I’m so sick of you pretending we weren’t!”
Lewis froze for only one second. After that, he grabbed Nico by the collars and pinned him to the nearest wall. A framed artwork even fell off but neither of them cared. Nico was momentarily surprised at Lewis’ strength, given he himself was pretty strong.
But Lewis barely gave him enough time to think and he pressed his lips to Nico’s. Time stopped.
Nico tasted like the expensive whiskey he’d just had. Lewis instinctively groaned at the taste of his mouth.
Nico froze initially, the taste of Lewis’ lips made his brain malfunction for a short while. But then he kissed him back almost angrily. Just like that, the memories of when they were young men came flooding in. Lewis’ fingers slid into Nico’s hair like it was something he did everyday. Nico hissed into the kiss when Lewis pulled his hair.
Feeling Lewis’ beard against his soft skin was a feeling Nico was sure he would never forget.
Lewis only pulled away to let them both breath for a moment, his lips still brushed against Nico’s when he asked, “What the fuck do you want from me?” He sounded just as breathless as Nico. “Huh? You want an apology?” Lewis was angry too, Nico could tell given the bitter tone of his voice. “For what? For breaking your little heart?”
Lewis could be purposely cruel like that, Nico knew. Trapped between the man who had once been his everything and the wall, Nico was a mess. His suit was all over the place, his hair was messy, he could feel it, his lips were probably swollen and red. Meanwhile Lewis looked just as put together as ever. Always so perfect. It angered Nico even more.
How dare he look so effortlessly perfect while Nico was falling apart in so many ways?
That thought made Nico attempt to shove Lewis. But of course, Lewis was stronger than he looks so he didn’t even move an inch and Nico was only even more embarrassed.
“Fuck you,” Nico hissed. But he didn’t do anything to free himself from Lewis’ grip. Didn’t even punch him, even though he wanted to hit his pretty face more than anything.
Lewis chuckled, pressing into Nico’s body even more. Nico just closed his eyes and groaned. Lewis didn’t let go of his collar, but one of his tattooed hands slid to the back of Nico’s neck. Nico could feel the cold metal of Lewis’ rings against his skin, and hated how much he liked it.
“You were yelling earlier, now you have nothing to say?” Lewis taunted.
Nico was done for, he knew that. They both knew that. “I hate you.” He said.
Lewis scoffed, “No you don’t.” He said before leaning in again. Nico was ready this time, even deepened the kiss when Lewis least expected it.
Hands reaching up to cup his face, Nico held Lewis’s face so gently that it scared him. Scared both of them actually.
But Lewis was done holding back. Nico was here, and that’s all that mattered. He pressed his hips against the blond, and the latter moaned into the kiss. When Lewis pulled away from the kiss this time, Nico didn’t find that warm or comforting look in his brown eyes. Instead he found a fiery hunger, nostalgia and just pure want.
“You piss me off.” Nico stated, breathless from Lewis’ kiss. He tried his hardest but failed to fix his suit.
Lewis just smirked. “Yeah? Show me how much.”
Nico, with anger and accusations in his eyes, finally snapped and shoved Lewis hard in the chest. The latter could fight back but he didn’t. He just smirked which annoyed Nico even more, as he kept pushing him until Lewis found himself laying on his back on his couch.
“Careful,” Lewis said, “It’s an expensive couch.”
Nico frowned still, pouting like a brat as he straddled Lewis’ lap. “Always your expensive shit. Your expensive couch, your expensive cars, your expensive women…” Nico listed, bitterly, as his hand wrapped around Lewis’ throat.
Lewis had a cocky look on his face. “Jealous? That you aren’t the only one with money anymore?” He chuckled. “You really did love to gloat, didn’t you?”
Nico tightened his grip around Lewis’ throat, Lewis just chuckled like any of this was funny. Nico leaned down, his face hovering inches above Lewis’ gorgeous one. “It was never about money,” Nico said, “I only ever wanted to impress you.” He admitted. “I liked the way you looked at me. I liked showing off to you. Everything I did was to get your fucking validation. Did you not see that?”
Lewis didn’t say anything, but his hands moved all over Nico’s body. They were crossing a line and neither of them wanted to stop. Lewis slid Nico’s suit jacket over his shoulders, the latter took it off completely and threw it somewhere on the floor.
But upon seeing Nico in that skin tight white dress shirt, and even though he looked mouth-watering, Lewis just couldn’t help from making a comment to rile him up. As he ran his hand down Nico’s clothed torso, Lewis said, “Nice dad bod.”
Nico wanted to slap his pretty face. Instead he just grabbed his hand, then the other one and pinned his wrists above his head. Lewis, who isn’t used to being pinned down like this, rather enjoyed it.
“Shut your fucking mouth.”
Before Lewis could say ‘make me’, Nico was already kissing him again. He wasn’t rushing this time, it wasn’t like those stolen moments at parties. They had time now, they didn’t have to hide. There was no one to catch them. So Nico kissed him, passionately.
Lewis eventually freed his hands and ran them down Nico’s body, undoing his shirt in the process and touching his warm skin. Nico moaned into the kiss again, feeling Lewis’ familiar touch.
Nico left marks behind as he bit and sucked on Lewis’ skin, down his neck, around the base of his throat, smirking against his skin as he marked him just because he could and wanted to.
Lewis tried to hold back from moaning but he couldn’t, not when Nico purposely bit him hard to make him hiss and groan. Not when Nico’s fingers slid under his t-shirt and traced his muscular chest, his abs, and lingered around the waistband of his trousers.
“Ah fuck, don’t bite,” Lewis hissed as Nico mercilessly bit and kissed around his collar bones.
Nico pulled back and stared down at him, then asked in that cocky tone of his, “Do you also say that to the women you fuck, or just me?”
Lewis smirked, looking up at him. “I can feel how hard your cock is, so don’t talk about the women I fuck right now.”
Lewis’ hand moved down Nico’s torso again, but the latter just slapped his hand away and began undoing his trousers instead. Lewis let him. He held himself up on his elbows as he watched Nico undo his bright red trousers. Nico hesitated only for a moment before lowering Lewis’ boxers along with the trousers, freeing his hard cock.
Nico would be lying if he said he didn’t think about this once in a while in the past years. He still remembered the first time he had Lewis in his mouth. Even now, he could feel himself getting harder just thinking about it.
“You’re just gonna stare at it?” Lewis’ voice broke Nico out of his reverie.
Nico’s heart raced just a little as he took Lewis in his mouth, moaning as he filled his mouth. Velvety and smooth against his tongue. Lewis’ fingers found Nico’s hair again, he tugged on it gently as Nico took him perfectly.
“Fuck,” Lewis groaned, “Your fucking mouth…”
Nico swirled his tongue around the tip, making Lewis grunt even louder in pleasure.
Nico quickened his pace slightly, Lewis moved his hips along with him, matching his pace and moving in and out of Nico’s mouth, making both of them groan.
Lewis was so ready to come in his mouth, but as soon as Nico felt Lewis’ cock twitching inside his mouth, he stopped and removed him from his mouth, but not before licking the slit on top of his tip and tasting his precum on his tongue.
“Not so easily,” Nico whispered, straddling Lewis again after denying him an orgasm.
“Brat.” Lewis spat.
Nico smirked as he took his shirt off, then tugged impatiently at Lewis’ t-shirt until he also took his t-shirt off. Nico had to pause a second.
Of course he had seen Lewis shirtless all over social media, but seeing him in real life, shirtless under him was enough to make him feel like he was a young, inexperienced man again. The one who lived for those stolen moments with Lewis, the one whose hands shook even after Lewis was done with him.
Lewis was different now. He looked like a god. Golden skin, tattoos, defined muscles. Nico knew he looked good as well, but Lewis was on another level. So Nico stared, shamelessly. He liked seeing the marks he’d left earlier on Lewis’ skin.
He stared, until Lewis scoffed before flipping the two of them around. Nico now laid under him, and Lewis smirked. “Done staring?”
Lewis liked looking at him from this angle he realised. Especially now that he had swollen lips.
“Hurry up,” Nico groaned like the brat he was.
Lewis frowned, “Hurry up what?” He grabbed Nico by the chin and insisted, “Say it, what do you want?”
Nico was quiet for a moment. Then said, “Fuck me.” He whispered it so quietly.
Lewis was cruel enough to say, “What was that? Say it louder, I didn’t hear you.”
Nico was done letting himself be bullied so he repeated himself, louder, “I said, fuck me.”
Lewis laughed as he undid Nico’s fancy trousers and freed his cock as well, immediately wrapping his hand around it.
Nico couldn’t think now that Lewis’ warm, rough hand wrapped around his throbbing cock. Lewis moved his hand gently at first, then he sped up as soon as soft moans and mewls escaped Nico’s lips.
Nico was a mess, his body shuddering each time Lewis’ thumb would brush against his leaking tip. He hated how well Lewis still knew his body, after all these years. His own hand gently wrapped around Lewis’ wrist, subtly guiding his hand up and down his own cock.
“Look at you trembling already,” Lewis taunted, looking down at Nico who looked like he belonged there, under him, on his expensive couch, in his home.
Lewis leaned down to kiss along Nico’s jawline, playfully biting him at the same time. Anything, Lewis would do anything to keep Nico moaning for him like this.
Lewis bit and tugged on Nico’s earlobe and watched how he trembled under his touch. He chuckled and kept kissing his skin, also leaving marks behind. And just when Nico started to thrust his hips gently into Lewis’ hand, trying to chase his orgasm, Lewis removed his hand, denying Nico his orgasm as well.
The latter groaned angrily. “You just can’t ever let me have anything, can you?”
Lewis laughed, “Where would be the fun in that?”
Nico couldn’t help but chuckle. And in that moment, it felt like how they were when they were just young boys chasing their dreams. There wasn’t all this pressure back then, there were less problems. They were just young men driving fast cars, living their dreams with their best friend in the whole world beside them.
The air got warmer, filled with even more tension now.
Nico’s hand reached out to touch Lewis’ face. “We can stop if you want, we don’t have to–,”
Lewis cut him off with a kiss. His hands lowered Nico’s trousers and boxers even more as he deepened the kiss. Nico kissed him back urgently as Lewis made himself comfortable in between his parted legs. Lewis placed his hands on each of Nico’s thighs and separated his legs further so he could fit his muscular frame in between them.
Lewis kissed down his neck as his hand aligned his cock to Nico’s hole. But then stopped and pulled away briefly, “We don’t have lube.” He said.
Nico rolled his eyes and gave Lewis one of those looks which could be interpreted as a look of fondness but also of disgust. Lewis often made fun of him for it in the past.
“Really?” Nico asked, “I remember so many times when we didn’t have lube either, and not once did that ever stop you from fucking me. Stop making excuses.”
Lewis chuckled, unable to stop himself from leaning in for a kiss again. “Brat,” He whispered against Nico’s lips before slowly pushing himself inside.
They both groaned at the feeling, Nico panted and moaned as it hurt just a little before feeling so good that he thought he might die from pleasure.
Lewis set a pace that had them both moaning in no time. He wrapped his hand around Nico’s cock again and moved his hand up and down his erected length in sync with his thrust. Meanwhile Nico was so lust-drunk he could barely keep his eyes open as his hands gripped pillows on the couch, eyes rolled to the back of his head and with his lips parted and occasional moans escaping his open mouth.
Lewis’ hand reached out to touch Nico’s face, his thumb traced his lips, tugging on his lower lip as he pulled away. Nico could not even form a coherent sentence as Lewis rocked in and out of him relentlessly while stroking his cock at the same time.
Lewis watched how Nico squirmed under him. The latter was an even bigger moaning mess when Lewis bent down to kiss him again.
“Make me come,” Nico whispered, breathless.
Lewis smirked. The sounds of their skin slapping against one another was soon the only thing which could be heard; other than the occasional grunts and moans which left their mouths as they stared into each other’s eyes.
Nico’s hair was damp, darker with sweat as Lewis’ skin was now shiny. They both had a glow on their faces. Lewis sped up, hitting all the right places. Soon, they could both feel a pressure forming at the base of their spines.
“Come for me…”
Lewis’ hand stroked Nico faster, and faster as he fucked into him just as hard. They both stared at each other in awe, lips parted, gasping for air. Nico touched Lewis’ face again, saying a thousand words with one look.
“Come for me,” Lewis repeated.
A few seconds later, they both came undone. Nico all over Lewis’ hand, and the latter deep inside him. Moaning and gasping for air, they both went limp on the couch. It was wide enough to accommodate both of them lying side by side.
After a while, Nico said, “I still hate you.”
Lewis scoffed, “Sure.”
When Nico began picking his clothes from the ground, Lewis asked, “You’re leaving?”
Nico gave him a look and said, “Yes?” That same sassy tone. “Don’t want to have you kick me out like I’m a hooker overstaying my welcome.”
Lewis laughed, sitting up to look at him. Nico put his shirt on, and suddenly, Lewis didn’t want him to leave.
“Stay.” Nico froze. Lewis stood up, and dared to place his hand on Nico’s waist. “Stay.” He said again, softly.
Nico chuckled, “Why? You don’t have a pretty woman to keep you company tonight?”
Lewis shook his head, smiling, pulling Nico closer by the waist, “Don’t test me. I’m ready to go again,” He looked down to where their abdomen touched. Nico’s eyes followed. “And I won’t be gentle this time.”
Nico scoffed, “That was you being gentle?” Acting like he didn't know.
Lewis laughed, “Just stay.”
“Fine.” Nico acted like he wasn’t dying to spend the night here. Like he wasn’t waiting for Lewis to tell him to stay. He felt like that young boy again, wanting Lewis’ validation at all cost. “You’re making me breakfast in the morning though.”
Lewis shrugged, “I’ll give you a bowl of Frosties and call it a day.”
Nico grimaced, “You cheap fuck.”
Lewis kissed him. Nico kissed him back. They each had each other until the sun came up tomorrow morning, and that was enough for now.

In the short span of time that had passed between that first day when the Sully family arrived in your home, seeking uturu and pleading for the safety of their lives, your life had slowly began to change.
Because, in all that time, Neteyam Sully, the eldest son of the two new outsiders, had been nothing but kind to you.
The conversation you’d had that one time with him, when teaching the other Sully’s how to properly travel within the waters, had clearly sent him some messages you weren’t aware of. Since then, he’d sought you out more, wanting to be a part of your company and slowly chip away the walls you’d built for protection against your own fragile heart all those years ago. You guess you should’ve known this would be happening - he did ask whether or not there was a chance you’d get along with him - and, now, he was doing everything to ensure that you did.
Neteyam picked up on your shy mannerisms, too, during this time, realising that compared to the rest of the clan he’d met, you weren’t exactly the most confident one out there. It was difficult for you to do or say or go through certain things than it was for others, but, he understood that. He understood that because he was never overbearing to you, never putting you under any pressure in anything in particular, never forcing you to do anything you didn’t want to do.
And, slowly but surely, he was right. You were beginning to get along with someone like Neteyam Sully. This boy - someone who you shouldn’t have gotten along with in the first place simply because of your stark differences, someone who you should’ve stayed away from because everywhere he went, danger followed his family - made you feel nervous. But, it wasn’t the normal feeling of nerves that would settle at the bottom of your stomach, festering and rotting themselves whole until you wanted nothing more than to claw them out. No, these nerves felt like beautiful butterflies swarming gracefully within you, ones you were slowly beginning to enjoy and seek out more of.
They made you feel more alive, and so did he.
Of course, you couldn’t have been going through all of this, basking in the territory of the unknown, without Tsireya being there and knowing about it, too. You hadn’t told her too much, not wanting to overshare, but, you’d made sure to tell her enough that you could go to her should you have the sudden need to rant or ask any confusing questions. It also wouldn’t be Tsireya if she didn’t slightly tease you whenever you were alone with Neteyam (which, actually, happened to be more times than you’d come to realise…), loving the idea of her lifelong friend slowly beginning to poke her head out of her safety blanket of a shell and become the person she really was for all to see.
As your best friend, she loved seeing you comfortable in places or circumstances you never thought you would’ve been in. Clearly, Neteyam was a good influence on you, and she was entirely too happy that the two of you had met.
But, even with the time of meeting them having passed by in a sudden blur to you, it clearly wasn’t going as fast to the rest of the world, the Sully’s included. The younger of the lot were still continuing to struggle with fully taming their ilu’s, despite the several times you all had tried teaching them. Some had it better than others (mainly the girl’s, but you weren’t surprised there), but there were still moments where even they couldn’t get it down to perfection, not to the point it needed to be at if they wanted to live within Awa’atlu.
After much deliberation, yourself and the others decided the cause of their struggles was due their breathing techniques and not being able to hold it as good as it needed to be. So, Tsireya exclaimed that it would be better to attempt to tackle that problem first. That way, they might improve in other aspects, too, arranging a day for the group of you to focus on that particular area.
Sat in a circle, legs crossed over as each of you faced one another, you showed them the correct way they should be controlling themselves within the depths of the waters. Tuk was situated in front of you, allowing you to help instruct her like you’d requested - she was a delight to teach, and you wished to continue to do so throughout her entire Metkayina training - and you were in between both Tsireya and Neteyam, a situation that fell into place subconsciously without either of you fully realising it.
Tsireya’s calming words spoke comfort over those learning, guiding them in the right direction as they each watched on in earnest, wanting to best at something they weren’t expected to all those years ago in their home. You watched with tender eyes as Tuk’s own never left the girl, doing her best to replicate her movements. Leaning forwards, you held your palm against the youngest girl’s stomach, delicately pushing it further and allowing her to even herself out as she held her breath. Even when doing so, wavering on, she sent you a small, slightly giddy smile of appreciation. It was clear she was getting the hang of it.
However, someone who wasn’t getting the hang of it like his youngest sister was the eldest one to your right. You noticed in your peripheral vision that he wasn’t doing it correctly, the way you’d been showing him, as he stuttered on his breathing and struggled to calm himself down when he felt it leave his lungs.
There was a moment of hesitation that filtered through your veins as you thought your options over, knowing what you needed to do - not only to help aid Neteyam in his exercises, but to also push yourself that little bit further. You were doing so well, especially with Neteyam, and you didn’t want things to end with him.
So, with one last lingering look around the rest of the group and taking note that each of them were focusing on their own breathing or guiding someone else, you turned a little in Neteyam’s direction, patting gently atop his arm. In an instant, he’s stopping, looking over and down at you expectantly, and you immediately feel the butterflies make their home within your stomach once more - how could they not, when his eyes only filter in your own, so intense and eager?
You watch as he leans subconsciously closer down to you, making sure that he would be able to hear every quiet word you uttered to him. This was a move that had happened recently, but one that made you feel seen. Because, Neteyam knew that you struggled with words sometimes, and when you finally gained the courage to say something, it wasn’t always the loudest. But, still, he wanted to hear every word you had to offer, and he wasn’t going to miss anything you said to him.
This time, however, you struggled to say anything, staying silent, instead. You found that the words you wished to speak, the question you wanted to ask him, was getting stuck in the back of your throat, something that happens more times than you’d like to admit. And, you hated it when this happened, because it made you look so stupid. How could someone struggle asking a simple question, when it was the easiest thing in the world?
In an instant, it’s as though your mood suddenly deflated, and you feel terrible about yourself. Your eyes gaze upon the floor, too scared to look the boy in front of you in the eyes and show him your vulnerability, despite knowing he’d understand - after all, he’d seen you go through this before.
And, when you feel one of the most gentlest taps against the top of your knee, knowing already that it had come from him, you slowly realise that you don’t need to hide from him, because in some way, he’s like Tsireya. He’s someone you can trust wholeheartedly without any worry of being judged or belittled… the only difference is there are other feelings lingering there with the Omatikaya boy, ones you’re still too scared to admit.
When you make eye contact with him again, there’s already such a soft look upon his features, the sunlight painting him in an ethereal light as he smiles reassuringly down at you. Those butterflies are back again, almost like they’d never left, and just one looked shared between the two of you had your spirits lifted once more.
You don’t think about the words you couldn’t speak anymore, simply refusing to acknowledge them and let your mood decrease again, instead pointing downwards, motioning to his stomach and looking back up at him in waiting.
It was obvious he was confused, just by the look of him - from the way his brows furrowed, questions lingering behind his gaze, and his mouth turned, trying to think of all the things you could’ve meant. So, you push your palm flat against your own stomach to help line your breathing, before motioning back over to him.
There’s a small oh that escapes his lips upon the realisation, a blush forming on his cheeks as with a giddy smile and sheepishly nodding. He gives you the space to move, watching as you hesitantly bring your hand close to him, before pushing your palm against his stomach. This is the closest the two of you have been to one another, accepting the boundaries between the two of you and never touching the other in such an intimate way.
It’s obvious the move has its affects towards the both of you, as you feel Neteyam’s breathing begin to stutter upon the contact, shaky exhales falling from his lips. There’s no doubt a darkness to your cheeks, too, as you feel everything within you begin to heat up, and you’re not quite sure how you’re supposed to react to all of this, ensuring to keep your gaze locked on your hand to further any embarrassment that might occur. Neteyam, however, simply cannot take his gaze away from your face, basking in each of your features and willing them to imprint themselves within his mind, not wanting to forget a single detail about you. You’re so ethereal to him, so beautiful and enchanting that the thought alone causes his ears to flutter and his tail to smack gently against the ground in a small burst of excitement.
His trance within your presence helps calm his breathing, and when you feel that, along with the soft patter of his tail against the sand, you bring your hand back to your person. There’s a proud smile already lingering upon your lips, happy that you had managed to help teach him something, but also happy for him having gotten better at something, too, that when you look up, only to find him already intensely gaze at you, everything falters within you. It feels as though your heart had just skipped a beat, as though your smile faltered and became a little shaky, and all that was on your mind was him.
He has gazing at you in such an intimate way even when you weren’t concentrating, when you were paying any attention… imagine how he’d look if the two of you ever had something more.
You’re only broken from your thoughts, the staring contest between the two of you not faltering, when you’re brought back to reality when he speaks up. “Thank you,” he says, breathlessly, almost as though he’s in some type of trance, words strangely quiet.
Collecting yourself to the best of your ability, you smile up at him slightly shakily, nodding, struggling to form any words due to a mixture of being out of your comfort zone and basking in the way this boy was looking at you, hoping your actions conveyed the words you wished you could say.
In that moment, too, you realised how close the two of you had gotten, your faces so close to one another, like any moment now, something else could’ve happened.
And, something might’ve done, but you would never know when suddenly, everything filters back into the front of your mind as to where you are and who you’re with. The sound of chuckles made their way to your ears, the once Neteyam-filled trance dissipating and focusing instead on those around you. Your head snaps in the direction of the laughter only to find Rotxo and Lo’ak giggling to themselves as they looked on at you two; Kiri and Ao’nung were rolling their eyes and grumbling under their breaths; Tsireya was trying to keep her ever-growing smile hidden behind her hand, and Tuk was none-the-wiser, too busy concentrating still on her breathing exercises.
“Oh, shut up,” Neteyam groans, speaking up before you can even attempt to hide away. He shoves the top of his younger brother’s head, before Lo’ak pushes him back. Before you know it, they’re shoving one another teasingly, in a way you know brothers do after, having seen ‘fights’ like this beforehand.
You find yourself laughing softly at their antics, watching as they push and shove at one another before they’re both on the ground, and your eyes subconsciously travel over to Tsireya like they always do, like they always wish to seek her out, just for one small moment of comfort. She throws a knowing look your way, one that has your cheeks heating up again, but then her smile turns gentle and tender, reassuring - after all, at the beginning of all of this, Tsireya was the one who had said that this could be good for you, and now look at where you were. Sure, things were still going to be difficult for you - you had no doubt they always would be - but, already, you were doing things you never thought you’d be able to do just months ago.
Looking back over at Neteyam as he had his little brother pinned against the ground, demanding jokingly that he apologise to him for whatever reason you didn’t know, you realised that you were slowly starting to believe that Tsireya was right.
Tumblr media
Only a few days had passed since that moment shared between yourself and Neteyam, but somehow, it had felt like longer. In that time, you hadn’t had the opportunity to see him again - your clan were planning a small celebration together (although, they were never small when it came to the Metkayina, so you knew exactly what to expect), and your time had been taken up by helping them prepare.
A small part of you was just slightly grateful that you hadn’t been able to see him yet, mainly because you needed to get yourself together, and truly understand what you were feeling. You had an inkling, but it wasn’t like you’d felt something like this before, and you didn’t really know what to do with it.
Tsireya had obviously been a huge help, and she’d told the truth, one you knew was inevitable. You’d been thinking the same thing, and maybe you were just too scared to admit it. But, when Tsireya said what even she knew to be true, it was like everything fell into place and some things began to make sense.
Neteyam began to make sense.
So, begrudgingly, that’s why you find yourself willingly turning up to the clan get-together, secretly telling yourself that it wasn’t really because you wanted to just catch a simple glimpse of him, but because you helped set this up. Even you couldn’t convince yourself that well.
The entire front was alive the moment eclipse had fallen towards the ground, setting the atmosphere alight with so many different spirits. There were several tables aligned along the edge, a variety of foods you swore you couldn’t even name they were so exotic, the hunters having gone out extra early to collect so much; a group of Na’vi were at the front, swaying to the music they were creating and lighting everything up with their melodic voices, creating an aroma of peace and tranquillity.
Everyone you had ever come to see in your short life was present, either dancing along with the music or chatting away their day with a friend or their families. So much noise was filtering in through your ears, you could barely hear yourself think.
Things like this were never your thing, simply because of the amount of people in one area and how loud it could get - when you enjoyed listening to the soft sounds of nature on your own, you were never going to get along with an environment like this. But, like you’d told yourself, you had helped put this together, and it only felt right to watch as others enjoyed themselves in their element, basking in the feeling of the family of Metkayina coming together as one… definitely not for Neteyam…
Arms crossed over your chest like a protective mechanism, shielding yourself away from anything that made you feel even slightly uncomfortable, you stayed towards the edge, not wanting to get mixed up in the thick of the crowd, knowing that would only be your worst nightmare. Your eyes flickered from one set of people to another, searching for your best friend, only to quickly find her close to Lo’ak, the two of them sitting side by side, smiles bright and achingly adorable. Hoping to talk to Tsireya, you let this one time go, knowing she was enjoying herself with someone she really cared for, especially after the talk the two of you had no too long ago where she admitted to finding him attractive.
So, you left the two of them to it, staying in your hidden place at the back, too scared to venture any further. Allowing the sounds of wonder, awe, and bliss reach your ears and satiate a part of you inside that warms at the idea of happiness, you’re too focused somewhere else to realise there’s someone coming up behind you. “Not a party person?” they question, their voice unintentionally startling you.
Your head turns around quickly, wanting to get to the source of the scare as soon as possible, only to find the other person you’d been hoping to find - Neteyam. He hadn’t changed much for the get-together - some people like to go extra and all the way, dressing up in their most fanciest clothing just to show themselves off, but, Neteyam stuck to his roots, his usual clothes adorning his muscled skin, the same ones he ritually kept from his home in the forest.
You liked him that way.
With a calming sigh, one to rest your suddenly beating heart, you turn your attention back to the rest of the clan in front of you. “Not really,” you reply, shrugging.
“Yeah, me neither.” Neteyam laughs nonchalantly, slowly taking steps to walk up beside you. You can’t resist the small smile that begins to curve up your lips at his attempt to start a conversation with you.
Silence envelops the two of you, something that seems to happen more often than not, but you can’t find yourself dreading it. No, you’re basking in it - in everything around you. There’s such a loving atmosphere filtering in around you, from the clan, the people, from Neteyam. Just being in his presence alone seems to make you the happiest you’ve been, and you realise there’s nothing you won’t do to continue chasing that feeling.
But, whilst you soak up in the silence, the Na’vi next to you can’t seem to take it anymore. “Look,” he started, moving forwards so he’s standing directly in front of you, capturing your whole attention. Now your eyes are on him, you notice he’s looking a little nervous - his hands are fidgeting, fingers wringing and his eyes are flickering between each of your own, like they’re not sure what they should really be doing. He takes a deep breath, like he’s preparing himself, and you find yourself leeching onto that nervousness of his and taking some of it as your own. “I know that this might be a bit out-of-nowhere - or maybe it isn’t… I kind of hope it isn’t - but I… like you, like… really like you. And, I was hoping maybe we could try…” he gestures between the two of you, his words so unbelievably soft and scared, “…this?” Your eyes have widened automatically, in complete disbelief at what he’s just admitted and asked you. “But, only if you want to,” he quickly adds on, not wanting you to feel any type of pressure. “You know, I don't want to make you uncomfortable in anyway." There’s a small laugh at the end of his rambling, one that’s hesitant and hopefully understanding.
His words course and filter their way inside your mind as it begins to cloud over with so many different, lingering thoughts. You’re not quite sure what to focus on first, because you’ve never done this before, and you’ve never really prepared for it. Sure, you knew one day there would come a time where you’d have to choose a mate and go through the whole process of courting, but you’d never spoken about it in much detail with your mother. So, now that something similar was happening before your very eyes - with Neteyam, nonetheless, someone you had come to treasure hardheartedly within you - you didn’t know where to start.
The butterflies swarming in your stomach had come back, crediting to this entire situation. Thinking on it, you knew since the moment you’d first laid eyes on him, you had found Neteyam Sully attractive - how could you not? - but, not once did you ever believe he could think of you in the same way, and especially not enough to tell you that he wanted to try the two of you out together. None of this made sense - you weren’t good enough for Toruk Makto’s eldest son; you weren’t good enough for someone who was supposed to be an Olo’eyktan back in his home.
But, despite thinking these things, that didn’t mean you didn’t want him in the same way. Your negative thoughts were trying to put you down, attempting to steer you in the opposite direction and away from a beautiful opportunity presented in front of your very eyes, one that could blossom into something ethereal and unique if you didn’t give it a try. In your fight against yourself, you look down at the ground, swallowing deeply as you think over your next words. You need this time to truly understand what could happen next with whatever words come out of your mouth, you calm your racing nerves and steady your rapid heart - because, you wanted to this, too. You just had to learn to counter yourself against those pessimistic thoughts.
Looking back up at him, you smile warmly - it’s shaky and scared, but, it’s warm, nonetheless, something he picks up on. “You do not make me uncomfortable, Neteyam.”
A breathy, hesitant laugh escapes his lips, like he’d been scared of overwhelming you and somehow managing to push your further away than he ever wanted you to be. “Good, good.”
There’s more silence that surrounds you, except this time, neither one of you are feeling anything else other than one another. Your eyes pierce into each other’s, your intense gazes never straying away. You will yourself to hold this contact with him, wanting to feel even just a smidge of confidence when you admit your next words. “I would… like to try it, too.”
A small, shy smile accompanied your words, and when he saw that, along with his mind processing your wonderful words, the tension once residing in his taut shoulders dissipates, and a smile radiates upon his features, becoming wider and showing his fangs on display within his excitement. Just at the sight of his happiness from your words somehow quickens your heart from within its cage, continuing to wonder how someone as beautiful as Neteyam could hold such feelings towards you.
Almost like he knew where your mind was spiralling towards, he takes it away from you, licking his lips in concentration and taking a step that continues to scare him, despite knowing you were beginning to feel the same way. Wiping his hands together out of nerves, he brings one of them up towards you, palm facing up as he gestures for you to take it. “Would you like to dance?”
It’s only when he’s asked you that particular question that you realise the women’s singing have slowed down, a much softer, gentler tone emanating from their voices. You look in the near distance behind Neteyam, watching as couples dance sensually to the melodic sound with their partners, pressed up against one another as they show off their love to everyone else.
Neteyam notices your change in expression immediately, watching it fall as the prospect of dancing in front of others - to such an intimate-sounding song, too - has your nerves beginning to spike. Wanting to reassure you as quickly as possible, hating the sight of you so worried and distressed as it pierces his heart painfully, he moves himself directly into your line of sight again, not allowing you to look at the others anymore. Still, he hand continues to wait for you. “We don’t have to go over there,” he shook his head, wanting you to feel reassured by him alone, “we can dance here, or somewhere a little more private.”
With your heart evident in your gaze, watching him and only him, appreciation fills within your system to him. Since first meeting him, Neteyam has understood your boundaries on the same wave length as Tsireya always has, allowing you to put up walls and tending to your needs to willingly, so lovingly. This was all even before he slowly started to fall in love with you, and now that he had you, he was only going to be the perfect gentleman for you that he always has been.
A sheepish smile plasters upon your lips, and you nod up at him, your shaky hand taking his and holding on tightly, his life force aiding to calm you down. He turns his head to look at the clan, just checking up on something quickly, before gesturing the two of you in the opposite direction and leading you further into the trees.
It’s even more secluded now that you’re blanketed from the trees, darker and much more hidden away, but not an inkling of you feels scared that you’re here with only one other person, because it was Neteyam, and you know you never have to feel scared around him.
Your hand is still tight within his grasp, and you were close to letting go of him, expecting to start engaging in a dance you’re used to having watched growing up - one that was original to your clan, or maybe even his, one slightly less intimate and more fun - but, he doesn’t let you pull away. Instead, he keeps your hands clasped together, placing his other one gently against the back of your waist and slowly pulling you closer, repeatedly watching every expression you make to ensure that you’re always comfortable.
Now that he’s in position, he chuckles softly at the confusion warping your features. “This is how they dance on the star where my father is from,” he explains, watching as you slowly nod in understanding. Still, it doesn’t feel right to you, mainly because whilst Neteyam’s hands are where they should be, you still have one of your own hanging limply at your side, unsure what to do with it. Thankfully, upon noticing this, Neteyam unwraps his one from around your waist and guides yours up and around his shoulders, before returning once more to its place. “Is this okay?” he asks you softly. “Are you comfortable?
His questions that you can tell are truthful and sincere have the awkwardness you were previously feeling disappear, feeling as he gradually starts to sway the two of you side to side, the Metkayina music faintly beating in the background, quiet in an atmosphere such as this one. You find that you can no longer shy your gaze away from him. “Yes,” you reply, so soft and delicate that it has his heart fluttering, “this is perfect.”
Somehow, his smile grows wider at your words, elation coursing through your veins, feeling one of the happiest times he’s ever had the pleasure of being in. His feet continue to gentle guide the two of you in this sky-person dance, the warmth emanating from his presence alone slowly calming your once racing heart and allowing you to succumb to him entirely. Subconsciously, your head falls to lay against his chest, his rhythmic heartbeat echoing within your ears like a mantra, wishing it was all you could hear for the rest of your life.
As he lays his chin atop your head, pulling you in impossibly closer and thanking the Great Mother for allowing him to feel something so special - let alone, allowing him to take this in the palm of both his hands and call it his own now that he knew you felt for him the same - Neteyam thinks back on the moment he’d been told they were moving to a different clan for their safety, back to the moment he’d first arrived at such a startlingly different place. He remembers wishing he could go home, wanting to feel the presence of familiarity through his person again. But, he also remembers that his father had once told him that home isn’t always necessarily a place… it can be a person, too.
And, for the first time since arriving in your home, in Awa’atlu, wrapped up in your embrace, Neteyam found himself not missing the forest as much as he used to.

am i the asshole for cutting off my mentally unstable friend without any explanation whatsoever?
(🧠🌩️ so i can find it)
tw for abuse and cheating mentions
ok typing out that title makes me feel like i might be TA to, like, some degree but just hear me out first.
i (19, f) was in my first semester of college when i met rachel (20). we shared a class and grew to be friends over our shared nerdy interests. i admittedly didn't really like her that much at first and didn't consider her to be that close of a friend. she was really just someone to talk to when class got boring or we had a break or something.
i was actually kinda regretting talking to her at all because i clocked that she was a little unstable almost immediately; she was very quick to anger and constantly talked about fighting people that had ""wronged"" her (which included our professor who she was convinced was out to get her for some reason?? idk why our prof was a really nice lady), constantly trauma dumped without asking (i'm talking like early into our relationship too. first day we met she was ranting about her abusive mother and her childhood trauma and stuff), and always found a way to turn the focus of the conversation about her any time i tried to talk about myself or anything that wasn't our shared interests. the only reason i gave her my number is bc she asked for it and i didn't know how to turn her down without hurting her feelings--i'd been planning on ghosting the second our class ended.
so we continued to talk/text for like a year and (at her insistence) met up for lunch in between class the following semester. i warmed to her a little at this point so it wasn't too bad; at the very least her constant drama gave me something to talk about with my real friends, and like i said i didn't really know how to cut her off in a way that wouldn't start something.
so time goes on and she shuffles through a few boyfriends--all who either cheated on her or were inattentive/verbally abusive. she constantly asked me for advice, which was confusing bc she never listened to it? like she asked me if she should take back her ex who cheated on her 3x and i said "no that sounds like an awful idea" and then she exploded at me and screamed that i could 'go fuck myself' and to 'stay the fuck outta her business bc it's her fucking life and not mine'. but then the minute he (predictably) cheated on her again and dumped her guess who had to sit with her on the phone for 2 hours while she cried? yep. me!
this kinda bullshit continued all the way up to a few months ago. she met a new guy, told me all about how he was "the one" and "he's gonna be different this time" blah blah blah. at this point i genuinely stopped giving a fuck about her and her problems. the only reason i hadn't cut her off was because my other friends loved hearing about her drama secondhand and i admittedly did enjoy making fun of her with them. which i know is kinda shitty but at least she'll never find out about it?
anyways, shit starts to get particularly juicy bc two months into rachel's relationship with this new dude he proposes. and she accepts (?!!) not only that but she informs me (not asks. INFORMS) me that i will be a bridesmaid. and i panicked and just said "uhhh cool i'm so happy for you!!" so this is the point where i decide that i need to end this relationship bc having to attend her wedding is just not something i wanna be apart of and i felt that if i went through with that it would solidify our ''friendship'' in her mind and i'd never be rid of her.
so i stop responding to her texts as frequently and began ducking her calls. didn't have to stop initiating bc i never initiated convos with her in the first place. i'd answer every once in a while bc she would start spamming that she was having ""emergencies!!!"" which. they never were true emergencies; she just wanted to vent about her fiance and his shitty family or something his ex-wife did to piss her off (her fiance was like 20 and divorced twice with three kids. YIKES) and i'd listen until she got tired of talking and ended the call. not once did she ever ask about me btw. at this point she wasn't even to pretend to care about me or my life; i was just her dumping grounds for all her trauma and venting.
i thought she might've got the message that we were done bc she hadn't texted for like a month, but a few days ago i recieved a message that said something like "omg i haven't heard from you in a while, are you okay??" and. i'm not sure if i can put into words the sheer amount of exasperation and annoyance those words filled me with. like i could tell right off the bat it was just a ploy so she could get me talking and then vent and saddle me with all her stupid emotional bullshit. so i blocked her, finally. this shouldn't cause any problems bc she dropped out of school last semester (she was failing so she decided to start her own business).
the thing is, i know that she's mentally not well. she is very erratic and immature, add that to the fact that she's gone through a lot of trauma throughout her life and the end result is a deeply flawed person. at the same time i'm not responsible for her mental health and continuing to play friends with her what i don't even like her in the first place seems disingenuous. but she's got abandonment issues, so me doing this is probably gonna hurt her. although me being honest and saying that i can't stand her and her drama anymore probably wouldn't feel any better.
AITA?
What are these acronyms?

love bites
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING ➔ jj maybank x pogue!gf!reader
WARNING(S) ➔ reader is quite literally just biting jj
SYNOPSIS ➔ reader shows her love in a different way
A/N ➔ when i was reading the request i laughed because this is literally how i’d treat my man if i had one 😭😭 + was listening to cigarette daydreams while writing this?? i thought it was fitting
-
whether it was being close to one another, someone resting their head on the other’s shoulder, you and jj were always touching each other somehow.
you don’t know when or how you developed it but it sure did happen some way, somehow.
you’d been sitting at the wreck sitting with the group & next to jj, waiting for food when you slyly leaned over and lightly bit his shoulder before pulling away quickly and resting your head on his shoulder.
jj looked down at you then back at the rest of the group, before pointing at you, “did she just bite me?” he questioned.
sarah laughed and looked at him, “i didn’t see anything, so i don’t know what you’re talking about!”, although she saw the entire thing.
you laughed to yourself as jj went on an entire rant about how you bit him.
-
walking down the dock of the chateau, you smiled, hand in hand with jj. from the incredibly dangerous adventures to the quiet nights watching the water glisten in the moonlight, you were so incredibly thankful to have jj by your side.
you giggled before his hand up to your mouth before you bit it and you immediately heard him laugh, “what is it with you and biting me?”
you shrugged, “just gotta find some way to be closer to my boy.” you said smiling brightly.
“but why biting me? you could be kissing me.”
“ehh, still not close enough!”
jj smiled as he quickly kissed your cheek.
-
the group had been walking along the beach, scouring for a solid place to surf, and you couldn’t help but notice how good your boyfriend looked.
the outer banks skies were almost always painted the perfect shade of gold.
you sat in the sand along with sarah, “you guys coming?” john b yelled back at you guys, running towards the water. “in a few!” sarah responded back.
“sarah you ever think that your life would be different if you never met john b?” you said as you looked over at her.
she tilted her head as she thought about it, “i think about that almost everyday, i mean, i’d probably still be with topper, i’d probably still be unaware of what my dad and brother were up to, so yeah, my life would be pretty different.” she said laughing, “what’s on your mind?”
“i don’t know, i mean i’ve known jj for so long and we just got together. i mean i don’t think it’d be any different but i’m really falling in love with him.” you said as you watched him surf across a wave.
sarah nudged your shoulder lightly, “oo, i’ve never seen you so in love before!” she said smiling from ear to ear, this prompted you to laugh.
and she was right, you’d never been so in love with (biting) someone before.
-
after what seemed to be and felt like hours, you all had finally called it a day after surfing. (you and sarah had joined the others shortly after your conversation.)
you’d set your board down, groaning out loud before laying on top of it. “i know for a fact i’m gonna be sore tomorrow.” jj said as he quickly plopped down into the sand right next to you.
you rolled over propped your head on your elbow, looking at him, as he peacefully watched the sky.
not realizing the huge smile that was very evident in your face. kie took the moment to whip out her small polaroid camera and capture the moment.
“how freaking cute.” she said, grabbing the film from the small slot and shaking it, waiting for it to develop.
she handed it to you & jj smiling brightly.
you took this as a opportunity to bite his arm one more time before laughing.
