Hello! I'm loving Breaker Whiskey, it's so beautiful and it's also making me better at Morse Code, lol. I've got a question about episode 60, though, what's the music that's mixed into the morse and static? It sounds like a very old recording, and I love that sort of thing. Thank you for sharing your shows with us!
ahhhh this makes me so happy!! I LOVE that it's getting people into Morse Code, that thrills me.
(some spoilers below about episode 60 of @breakerwhiskey, including additional explanation from me that you may or may not want)
yes, the music mixed into episode 60 IS an old recording! it's a song played on a phonograph - I use a service called Splice to get a lot of the sounds I've put in a bunch of my shows, and there's a pack that's all sounds from vintage audio devices. there's a few of those sounds mixed into episode 60 - a phonograph song, the sounds of wax cylinders being played, and a recording of Thomas Edison explaining the phonograph - all of them distorted to be mostly unrecognizable.
the song file itself is just called 'phonograph song' - I think a bunch of audio engineers just recorded whatever they could off the vintage resources they had - but as far as I was able to glean from the lyrics (they're not that much clearer even undistorted) it's an 1860s confederate rallying song, which I thought would be just about the worst possible thing that you could hear played at random over a radio frequency. I wanted the sounds all together to be menacing, and Whiskey has talked a lot about the myth-making of America vs. the cruel reality, so it felt on theme.
that said, the phonograph sounds were chosen mainly for the literal quality of the sound - that tactile, fuzzy wax static - rather than any true story importance. there are story-relevant sounds mixed in there, but I'm not going to tell you what they are or what they mean!

(ETA: now edited and up on AO3)
Look. Eddie knows he can be a little uptight about these things, but. There are rules. If you become a vampire, you don’t need to go full gothic Count Von Dickhead or whatever, but you absolutely cannot just wander around in a puffy vest and light-wash jeans.
“Why not?” says Steve. He’s leaning back in an armchair, sipping on a bloodbag like it’s a goddamn juicebox. “What, are the vampire police going to arrest me?”
He pauses. “Wait. There aren’t vampire police, are there?”
“No,” says Eddie. “Probably not. I don’t know. But there are standards which you are refusing to uphold, Steven.”
“Thought you were all about hating conformity, Edward,” Steve says. He’s got an obnoxiously cocky little smirk, the smug undead fucker.
Eddie grimaces. “Don’t call me that, asswipe. Don’t you feel, like—the call of the night? The siren song of life coursing through fragile human veins? A hunger for destruction that those paltry plastic bags of blood can never truly slake?”
“The bloodbags aren’t so bad,” says Steve, around the straw. “Better than protein shakes.”
“I actually hate you,” Eddie tells him. “Vampirism is wasted on you.”
Steve noisily slurps the last of the blood out of the bottom of the bag. “Come on, you can’t really picture me in some Dracula getup, can you?”
The problem, of course, is that Eddie really, really can. When Robin had read him in on the whole situation, obviously he’d been horrified and concerned—but also, a whole wing of his brain had immediately been cordoned off to work overtime imagining Steve in elaborate Dark Prince regalia, maybe leaning elegantly out of a castle window on the moors, gazing into the foggy dusk. Velvet might’ve been involved.
“...guess not,” says Eddie. It doesn’t sound incredibly convincing to his own ears, but Steve just shrugs and gets up to throw the bloodbag away.
“There you go, man,” he says, clapping Eddie on the shoulder as he passes. “It’s the 80s. Vampires can be whatever we wanna be.”
———
It gets way too easy to forget about Steve’s condition, until Eddie ends up having to haul him out of a bar in Indy before they get banned for life.
“Simmer down, buddy,” Eddie says, pulling him into the shadow of the van. “Let’s get those fangs packed away before any of the nice villagers wander by with torches and pitchforks.”
“I’m good,” pants Steve. “It’s all good. Don’t worry about it. It’s fine.”
Eddie lifts an unimpressed eyebrow. “Sure, that’s why your eyes are glowing red and you’re, like, fully vamped out. Which, by the way, looks extremely dumb with the whole clean-cut vibe you decided to rock tonight.”
“Fuck you, I look great,” says Steve, pushing a hand through his hair. He’s not wrong, it’s just not relevant to how he also looks extremely dumb like this, wearing a pristine henley with fangs hanging out in the parking lot for anyone to see.
“So what the hell happened in there, man? I was finally starting to get somewhere with Todd, and…” Eddie trails off in dawning realization.
“Holy shit, am I—I’m like your territory, aren’t I? Your stupid vampire brain got all screwy and decided to loop me in with Robin and the kids as part of your freaky human coven.”
“Uh,” says Steve. He looks unhappy in a shifty kind of way. “Something like that, maybe.”
“Wait, so, are Nancy and Jonathan—are you okay with them because they’re both already in the vamp pack? Is Vickie gonna have to be inaugurated before she and Robin can bone down?” Eddie perks up. “Shit, is there a ceremony? We could totally do a ceremony.” He bets he can get the kids to liberate some velour curtains from the drama club. With a few candles, they could get some serious atmosphere going.
“No, shut up, nobody’s doing a damn ceremony,” Steve groans. “Vickie’s fine.”
“Okay,” says Eddie. “So…you gonna tell me what all that was about, then? Do I have to start running guys past you first so your vamp instincts don’t wig out? Or…hm, maybe Argyle’d be down to mess around sometime.”
Steve lets out an actual snarl with weird animal echoes, then claps a hand over his mouth.
“Sorry,” he says, muffled. The shadows around them seem darker somehow.
“So I’m just not allowed to get laid ever again,” says Eddie slowly. “For vampire reasons.”
“Do whatever you want, man.” Steve’s still got his hand pressed tight over his mouth.
“And it’s…just me?” Eddie peers at the tightness around Steve’s eyes; the way he’s scowling stubbornly at his feet. “Huh. Kind of…possessive, Harrington.”
“It’s—weird,” says Steve miserably, dropping his hand at last. “I know it’s fucking weird.”
“Maybe.” Eddie shrugs, biting down on the grin he can feel tugging at his mouth. “Lucky for you, I’m into that shit.”
“What?” Steve frowns. “You’re…”
“Always wanted a vampire boyfriend,” says Eddie. “Like, are you kidding? I would’ve sold my fucking soul at 15 for something like that.”
“I’m starting to feel a little objectified here,” says Steve, but he’s smiling, and he reaches out to snag Eddie’s belt loop and tug him stumbling closer. “Just in it for the fangs, huh?”
“Well, you’re kind of a shitty vampire, actually.” Eddie drapes his arms over Steve’s shoulders. “So I guess I must just be in it for you.”
Steve hesitates, searching Eddie’s face. Stray red lights are still sparking like embers in Steve’s irises. “Okay, but—you’re in it? Right?”
“Couldn’t get rid of me if you tried, Bunnicula. I’ll send the vampire police after you, just watch me,” says Eddie, and kisses him.

Book Club - Part 4
Pairing: Lance x Reader, Grid x Reader
Summary: no spoilers 😈
A/n: I’m not ready to let them go, so send in book club requests so we can keep the club going 🥲
requests are open 🗣️ masterlist
—————————
“Nico, when did you ask your wife to marry you?” you dangle upside down on his couch, just chilling and asking for life advice, similar to how the book club started.
“When I knew the time is right and she was the one. Are you second guessing Lance?” he asks, sitting in a chair beside you. You are both in your racing suits, ready for the upcoming race.
“Not necessarily, it’s just that we’ve been together for so long, and god I really love him. You could ask me to marry you right now and I’d say no, that’s how down bad I am,”
“He’s your pookie,” Nico says, smiling proudly at using slang.
“Hell yeah,” you high five him. “I know he wants to marry me, I just wish he’d propose,” you groan.
“Have you talked to him about it?”
“Never, ever, ask a girl that. And the answer is no. I just- I don’t want to rush him. I know Lancelot, and he’s gonna want to make it perfect, so I don’t want to make him feel rushed,” you explain and Nico nods.
“Well then, in an alternate universe, I have already asked you to marry me,” Nico says, trying to comfort you.
It’s true, on Earth 2, you and Nico are closer in age and married.
“God, I can only hope,” you grin at the Haas driver, moving to sit normally.
“Don’t worry about it, I see the way he looks at you, it’s only a matter of time,” Nico reassures you.
“Thank you. You really are one of my closest friends. Our little club is my family,” you tell Nico who pulls you into a hug.
“We always will be. Competitors on the track, family off the track,” Nico says as Kevin walks in.
“Y/n, you okay?” Kevin asks, sitting on the other side of you.
“I’m okay, just a little in my bag, probably about to start my period or something,” you wave Kevin off.
“Okay, well you are basically our grid daughter so if there is anything bothering you, let me know,” he gives you a small hug.
“Guys, stop, you are gonna make me cry for real,” you tell them, a little laughter in your voice.
“Alright, go crush this race,” Nico says, walking you out of Haas. You head back to your garage, feeling a lot better than you did before.
Little did you know, was you were venting to Nico, Lance was panicking in front of Fernando, Lewis, and Valtteri.
“What if she says no? Oh my god, she will finally admit that she actually despises me and barely tolerates me,” Lance paces.
“Mate. I don’t know if you noticed, but she looks at you like you hung the moon and the starts. You look at her like she is the thing that makes you live and breathe. You will be ok,” Lewis quotes the song he wrote based on the book you selected.
“Really?” Lance stops his pacing, his eyes shining happily.
“Yes, you two are insanely love sick, it is cute,” Fernando says, amused at the Canadian.
“Just ask her when she wins, she will be too excited to say no,” Valtteri says, Lewis and Fernando gasp, as well as Lance.
“That’s not nearly romantic enough,” Lance groans.
“We arranged for a romantic track walk and picnic at turn two, here is a book with a hole in the pages. When she opens it, eso,” Fernando says, confirming what they had been working on.
“It took a little convincing the FIA, but we did it,” Lewis says. Lance visibly relaxes, a lot of tension releasing.
“How can I repay you for this?” Lance asks, a little overwhelmed, but very grateful for their help.
“Take care of our grid daughter, make sure she is happy for the rest of her life,” Valtteri says simply.
“Hey guys, sorry we are late,” Daniel walks in with Checo.
“What did we miss?” Checo asks, sensing the odd atmosphere.
“Just giving Lance permission to marry our grid daughter,” Lewis tells them.
“Did you ask Kimi?” Daniel asks, the whole grid knows how close the two have gotten. You don’t have a great relationship with your dad, similar to Max, so Kimi has easily filled that role.
“He was the first person I asked, then I asked Kevin and Nico since she is really close with them,” Lance nods, knowing you are probably with them.
“We will be out there taking pictures, don’t worry,” Valtteri reassures the young Aston Martin driver.
“Amigos, it is race time,” Checo says, leading everyone out to the track. Lance spots you with Logan.
“Yeah, you can totally join, I’ll give my copy of this weeks book since I finished it. Just don’t tell the other non-club drivers,” you tell the American. You have gotten closer with him, seeing how excluded he is from some other groups in the Paddock.
“I’ll see you later, thanks for being a good friend,” Logan says, squeezing your shoulder gently.
“Hey, Lancie,” you grin, pressing a small kiss to his lips.
“Hello, love. Are you excited for our date after the race?” Lance asks, his hand resting on your waist, his warmth blocked by your fireproofs. You chat until you reach your respective destinations.
“Good luck, I’ll see you when I overtake you,” you tell him, and he returns your sentiments with a laugh.
You end up placing P4 after pushing the car harder than you ever had before, so you were extremely pleased. After a shower, media responsibilities, and debriefs, you change into a sundress and fix your hair. Lance meets you outside the motorhome, looking handsome in a button up and dress pants.
“You look so hot,” you tell him, jaw dropped a little. 10/10 girls would agree that the only thing hotter than a guy with a baby or small animal, is a guy dressed up in a well fitting suit.
“You look cuter,” he kisses you sweetly, grabbing your hand as he leads you through the paddock to the track. He told you about the track walk after weighing in. The grid helped him set up the date spot while you got ready. Your breath is taken away a bit when you approach turn two. There are fairy lights hanging from the fence and a blanket with a picnic basket on the track.
“Lance, this is incredible. How did you set it up?” you ask him in awe. The clear night sky lets stars shine bright above you.
“The grid helped, especially Fernando, he’s a big romantic and really liked the idea,” Lance admitted shyly.
“It’s perfect,” you take his hand to assist you in sitting down. Lance sits beside you, offering you a snack from the picnic basket. Conversation flows easily between you, talking about anything and everything except for racing, the one topic always off limits on date nights. Lance reaches into the basket and pulls out a book.
“I got you a little something,” Lance says, pushing down his nerves. Out of the corner of his eyes, he can see the grid popping out of their hiding spots in the grass area.
“I do love my books,” you smile, taking the book from him. As you usually do, you flip through the first few pages, pausing when you see a ring taped to the third page.
“I had a big speech planned, but will you let me make you happy for the rest of your life and make me happy the rest of mine by marrying me?” Lance asks and you can only nod as tears start flowing. You launch yourself into his arms, holding him close.
“I love you so much,” you whisper and he holds you tighter.
“I love you more,” he says. You pull away slightly and kiss him. Lance carefully removes the ring from the book and puts it on your hand. It’s simple yet stunning, absolutely perfect for you. You both look at the grid when they start cheering and hollering.
There is a social media intern for Formula One somewhere in the group who captured the whole thing on video, Fernando paid her under the table for it and he hid another camera and microphone on the wall of the track. He knew the guys would only remember to get pictures.
You take your time thanking each driver and hugging them, you really tear up when you see Kimi there.
“Congratulations, you raced so well today, I am very happy for you,” Kimi actually hugs you, if there wasn’t photo proof from Lando and Daniel, who’s jpg accounts broke the news of the engagement (you wouldn’t want it any other way), people wouldn’t believe it.
“Thank you. Wait, you said you weren’t going to be here for the race!” you gasp, looking at him a little betrayed.
“If you knew I was here, you would insist on getting dinner with me instead of going on a date,” Kimi shrugs, a small knowing smile on his face. Not only is he basically your dad now, he has been mentoring you a few times a week, even hopping in the sim once in a while.
“You’re right. I’m just glad you approve,” you smile as Lance wraps an arm around your waist.
“He was the first person I asked,” Lance kisses the side of your head.
“Wait, I thought we were the first,” Kevin says, looking at Nico.
“As long as she’s happy, I’ll get over it,” Nico jokingly mourns his loss of you.
“The ring is gorgeous,” George says, inspecting it. He is the babygirl of the group.
“Alright guys, let’s leave the happy couple alone,” Logan says, Lewis helping him herd everyone away from you and Lance.
“This may have been the most perfect day ever,” you sigh happily.
“Only because I am with the perfect girl,” Lance grins at you, holding you close as a blush covers your face.
“Shut up,” you giggle, pulling him down onto the blanket with you. He holds you in his arms for a few minutes before you yawn.
“Let’s get you back to the hotel,” Lance chuckles, helping you stand up. He is grateful that his assistant is taking care of the cleanup and your assistant packed up your drivers room for you.
“Mhmm, I need cuddles ASAP,” you yawn again, thankful for everything the day has brought you and that the hotel is close by. When you get back, it doesn’t take too long for you to crash.
“How did I get so lucky?” Lance whispers, pulling you close to him. Your steady breathing lulls him to sleep.

Tumblr media
if someone were to ask you how you got in this situation, you honesly couldn't say you have a clue.
walking into your childhood friend's parents' house hand-in-hand with him, you're still questioning how you got here.
well, to put it simply, you and heeseung grew up together. you even went to college together, and now you're back home together. but, you're now actually together.
at least, that's what you've told both of your parents, after constant nagging and pleading from both ends for you both to date someone. so, your solution was to pretend you're both dating each other.
now, you're shaking due to the nerve of the roles you're both about to play.
heeseung squeezes your shaking hand that's placed in his, sending you a reassuring smile. "hey, it's fine. we're only doing this to get them off our backs."
your heart flutters at his smile and the kind action.
mrs lee opens the door for the both of you. "____! it's so nice to see you," she exclaims, pulling you into a hug.
"moooom," heeseung whines. "what about me?"
she chuckles. "oh, hush. i haven't seen ____ in years."
as she welcomes the two of you into her house, you realize how natural this feels after all. besides, you and mrs lee have always been close, as your moms are best friends, so she's like a second mom to you anyway.
heeseung leads you through the wide hall into the large dining room. sending you a wink, he pulls back your chair for you. you send him a weird look as you sit down, but he ignores it and pushes your chair in, taking a seat next to you.
diagonal from where you and heeseung sit, your fathers are arguing about who's lawnmower does the better job. you chuckle at their pettiness as your mother chastises your dad for picking a fight over such a stupid thing. things haven't changed at all.
you're immersed in a conversation with heeseung until someone takes a seat across from you. it's heedo, your fake boyfriend's older brother.
and your childhood crush.
there's a girl sitting next to him, and they're holding hands, just as you and heeseung were a few minutes ago.
heeseung seems to notice your curiosity, because he leans closer to speak into your ear. "that's yeri, heedo's girlfriend." he takes your hand again and squeezes it. "are you okay? we can leave if you're uncomfortable," he offers, knowing about your long-term crush on his brother.
you shake your head. "i'm alright. just surprised."
he nods, understanding. "are you over him? i mean, you've dated since you last saw him."
"i think so, actually." you smile, nostalgia hitting you suddenly. "he was my childhood crush, so i guess it's just weird for me. it's not like i haven't seen him with a girl before."
you remember the time you saw him making out with a girl at a party him and heeseung had thrown in high school while yours and their parents were on a trip. you'd then gotten drunk on wine to the point of throwing up, and heeseung had held your hair back half the night at your house while you threw up.
then, when he brought his first girlfriend for dinner with his parents. heeseung had invited you over, not knowing he was there with his girlfriend, and you'd spent the evening crying in his room while he held you.
heeseung grins at you, seemingly remembering those nights too. you feel eternally grateful to have someone like him in your life.
he presses a kiss to your temple, seemingly trying to keep up the act. "you hungry, cutie?"
you nod shyly, blushing as he ruffles your hair. "starved."
within a few moments, heedo and heeseung get up to help their mother bring plates of food from the kitchen and set them in the middle of the large dining table.
yeri stares at you across the table. you feel self-conscious as she eyes you up and down, as if she's analyzing how big of a threat you are to her.
heeseung catches a glance at her eyeing you as he sits down, sighing as he realizes what's going on. he glares back at her, and she just smiles innocently, fixing a napkin on her lap. she glares at you as she kisses heedo on the cheek.
"what's her problem?" heeseung whispers in your ear.
you shrug. "i have no clue. I've literally just been sitting here."
he rolls his eyes. "i hope she doesn't cause a scene."
dinner does end up going without a hitch. besides a few more glares from yeri when heedo asks about your experiences in university and settling into your new job, you feel at ease. even when yours and heeseung's parents ask how you two began dating, you're able to answer the questions just as the two of you practiced earlier.
you notice heeseung looking at you with an expression you don't recognize throughout dinner. almost like admiration, except his eyes are fiery. you just think he's playing the role of your loving boyfriend.
mrs lee brings out a tray of sweets. "anyone hungry for dessert?" she practically sings.
heeseung grins and leans close. "mine's already here." he places a hand on your knee.
you choke on your own spit, and he pats your back. "please stop flirting with me, my parents are right there," you whisper-yell into his ear as everyone stares at you both.
your hear giggles, and you realize everyone must have heard what you said.
your mother smiles sweetly at the both of you. "don't worry, we're not judging you. the two of you are adorable."
you blush furiously, and heeseung ruffles your hair again.
yeri huffs from across the table, and you realize she must be jealous of the attention you two are receiving as a couple, not insecure of her relationship. she busies herself with fixing heedo's collar aggressively.
he grabs her hands as the attention turns to them. "what is your problem? you've been like this all evening. can't you just act normal?"
heeseung stifles a laugh from beside you and you nudge him with your elbow. "what's funny?"
he leans over to whisper in your ear for the third time tonight. "just that they're seemingly an actual couple and they get along worse than us."
you giggle, and yeri turns to glare furiously at you. "what the fuck is funny, you callous bitch?"
there are gasps all along the table, and heeseung nearly stands up defensively before you grab his arm to pull him down.
"don't think i haven't noticed you flaunting you perfect boyfriend all night." she laughs mockingly. "you're like a three. how did you manage to pull that guy?"
"get out." heedo glares at his probably soon-to-be-ex girlfriend, motioning towards the hall that leads to the front door.
"what?" her tough front cracks as she wears a scared face. "heedo-"
"i said. get. out." he gets up, pulling her up with him and marching toward the hallway.
you can hear the yelling and screaming still. "i've told you before, she's like a fucking SISTER to me! who are you to talk to my family like that?" "SHE WAS TAUNTING ME WITH HER PERFECT GUY-"
eventually, the screaming is muffled as it seemingly continues outside.
mrs lee gains her composure and proceeds with setting out the dessert. "kids these days are so dramatic. minus my ____, of course. you're an angel."
you smile at her. "thanks, mrs lee."
her smile falters. "honey, why don't you just call me 'mom?' i'll be your mother-in-law eventually, anyway."
you nearly choke again, and heeseung stifles a laugh. "just go with it," he mouths.
you smile again. "sure, mom. thank you for the dessert."
dinner wraps up rather quickly after the dramatic scene. heedo returns at the very end, looking very disheveled as you and heeseung make your way up the long spirals stairs to his room, where you'll both be staying the night.
heeseung lets out a long laugh after he closes the door to his childhood bedroom, nearly slumping against it. "that was a train wreck. heedo has terrible taste in girls."
you giggle. "he should've just chosen me when he had the chance."
heeseung's smile fades. "no, i rather like having you to myself."
your feel a twinge of pain in your heart at the way his smile drops. "hee, i was just kidding. i told you, i'm over him. i think i like someone else now, anyway."
the smile that began to creep onto his face at the first part of your speech drops again as he hears the last part. "oh." his shoulders slump, face looking dejected.
you catch his face in your hands as he turns away from you. "hee, do you really not realize who i'm talking about?"
his eyes widen in realization. "you mean..."
"yes, i mean i like you, lee heeseung." you grin at him.
before you realize it, he's taking you into his arms and picking you off the ground and you're spinning through the air. you both giggle as you come back onto the ground.
now flustered, you look away from him "so..."
"i like you too, ____. i thought that was pretty obvious." he ruffles your hair yet again, pulling you close by your waist.
you giggle. "it kinda was."
he looks at you for a moment, gentle gaze flickering between your eyes and lips. "can i kiss you?"
you nod, and he leans down to connect your lips gently. you wrap your arms around his neck, one hand resting on the nape of his neck, and the other tangling in his hair.
he pulls away and you lean your head against his chest, breathless.
"fuck, i think i might be in love with you." the words leave your mouth before you can even think about what you're saying.
he smirks down at you as you meet his eyes, yours wide. "yeah? what makes you think that?"
you inhale sharply. "you've been there for me through everything since we were kids. my heart hurts when you're sad, i feel angry when you're angry, and i'm happy when you are. also, i always find myself missing you when you're not around. i think that's love."
he smiles, eyes shining brightly. "if that's the case, i love you too."
minutes later, you're settled in a pair of heeseung's clothes, waiting on his bed for him to come back from the bathroom.
as he enters the room, your heart races. you've spent nights together as friends, no biggie. but now, it's the real deal.
he sprawls out on the bed beside you and turns to look at you. "cuddle?" he asks, opening his arms. you practically dive into them as they wrap around your body tightly.
you realize you feel safe here. that to you, there's never been any place safer than in his arms.

[☆] — long way home | c.sc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis ‣ choi seungcheol knew the city roads like the back of his hand. 30 minutes was more than enough time he needed to take you home, but driving slow whilst taking the long route doesn't sound all too bad, especially if it's with you
pairing bf!seungcheol x fem reader
genre fluff, drabble | warnings not proof-read, use of pet-names (baby & love), kissing, reader calls seungcheol a dork lol
wordcount 0.5k
✷ first post ! been reading tumblr fics for a while but its my first time publishing anything :—) idea was sparked by the 5sos song "long way home" and my current obsession over coups heh enjoooy !
Tumblr media
you were strolling around the park with seungcheol after having a hearty dinner at the newly opened italian restaurant you've been wanting to visit, followed by a quick stop for coffee on your way to said park.
hands intertwined, stomachs full, and the dim lights casting a glow on your lovely boyfriends face, you felt content.
and a tad bit sleepy.
"cheol, let's go home?"
you softly ask him, your head laying on his shoulder as you watch him snap a picture of a cute dog wearing a vest in an even cuter shade of pink. you make a mental note to look for one for kkuma, maybe you could even turn it into a matching outfit for all three of you.
"come on, baby"
the sound of seungcheol's voice breaks your train of thought and you look to him, his hand extended for you to take.
you gladly do so, jumping on your feet as you swing both of your arms back and forth all the way to the parking lot.
like muscle memory, seungcheol opens your door and buckles your seatbelt for you, not forgetting to send a cheeky wink your way when your eyes interlock as the buckle clicks into position.
"careful now, i've got a boyfriend you know"
"yeah? can he drive as well as i can?"
"for your information, he can!"
"well i'd like to meet this hotshot then, maybe i could snag his number and take him from you"
"hey!"
he giggles at your remark, admiring the way your hand fit in his as he drove through the roads of seoul with ease. you had always praised seungcheol for his driving, never once making you feel dizzy or nauseous especially for a person who gets motion sickness quite easily.
of course he was and is extremely proud about it.
driving together was easily one of your favorite things to do. drives with seungcheol always made you feel like you two were the only people in the world. laughter, intimacy, and conversations about anything under the sun filled the atmosphere of his cozy bmw.
"so we're taking the long way home?"
you ask in a teasing tone, hiding the hint of hoping that he would say yes. you loved drives with your boyfriend you won't let that get to his head, of course.
"you know it. i'd love to get lost and drive forever with you, baby"
a small giggle is elicited from you as seungcheol kisses your knuckle
"well i guess we should start our forever now."
"waaay ahead of you, love. been waiting for our forever... forever."
your smile widens as you spot his dimples, the streetlights casting yet another glow on your boyfriend's pretty face. the lighting gods must love him i guess, you do too.
"you can always make up for that lost time by kissing me everytime we come across a stop sign"
the amusement in his voice is evident as you spot a big red octagon with the word stop in its famous big bold white text.
the car does exactly as the sign says and seungcheol turns to face you, a boyish grin spread across his face, dimples present and everything.
"you're such a dork, cheol!"
that was all you said before flashing him your own signature smile and giving him a kiss that made him forget his name.
seungcheol made sure to pass by every stop sign on your route home after that.

the vibe you give out to others
pick a picture
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
left to right(top)-> 1,2
left to right(bottom)-> 3,4
°DO NOT take this as literal, take everything with a grain of salt as this is purely and intendedly for entertainment purposes. °Don't be afraid to give feedback and opinions about this post (as i would entirely appreciate it). ° This is a GENERAL reading, take what resonates and leave and pass on what does not!
PILE ONE
someone who can communicate hours on end with someone, usually about the deeper stuff. so you may like to share your thoughts a lot which leaves people guessing that you would be a very good person to talk to. you also are good with reading the vibes of a room, people almost expect you to change the atmosphere of the vibe within a group. you really are someone who solves problems, situation ships and other things people may need assistance with. i feel like you help others grow, you teach people from wrong or right and perform humanitarian acts. if you are in a bad situation, you get the heck out of there as soon as possible, people know that because you may express your thoughts and feeling through communication. i feel like you talk about the little things to others that they might even find that you can be oversharing at times. anyhow, you may look back on what people did you in the past or vice versa. you don't hold onto a thread, you make very clear decisions that take you wherever it may.
yeah, you learn from your mistakes and only go forward which makes you a stronger individual. there is still some youthful energy surrounding this pile, so don't forget to not be hard on yourself all the time, you give out but not necessarily get given back which allows people to use your time unnecessarily. people can also see a child in you, you may get told that you remind someone of their son or daughter. being behind the scenes is what you are used to and may project a certain insecurity that others notice. i feel like its that others see their own insecurities in you as well which may cause jealousy. you are careful though, you plan, you observe and you double check. there is nothing wrong with being in routine but i feel like people notice that you are too afraid of failure because you might have grew up to be the high achieving kid or the oldest child who had influence on the younger siblings and so forth. overall a very sensual and hardworking pile.
assigned song: Black beauty- Lana Del Rey
youtube
PILE TWO
very energetic around people or friends and family but think a lot by yourself, you may keep your true self hidden. you are such a good manifester and people notice that whatever you say out loud becomes real. people may call you a psychic because you just know things before others do, for example if a friend asks about something like an event and you just tell them like "watch this happen in there" and something like this and it happening. you are quite reserved with your feeling and emotions, you use them on better things. around you, others feel confident and secure. you are a very good empath and feel whatever others are feeling, so it is very easy to empress ones feelings to you. you are such a caring and observing individual that others feel nothing but security and comfort around you. honestly such a nostalgic pile!!
you crave a free life where you are not stuck to anything or anyone, people feel the freedom you possess. you don't aim to be powerful nor business oriented, you just want to see what's out there and see what other cultures and countries have in store for you. i feel like you have a plan that you have that consists of you travelling abroad and creating a happy home there at a new setting. you are good with legal matters like documents, credit cards, the law and so forth. you may know about it as you may be interesting in becoming a lawyer or working somewhere that involves a law, like police and so on. but on a real note, you balance everything out in your life, people see how well you split your routine in even pieces. overall, this is a very free spirited and intelligent pile!
assigned song: Ride- Lana Del Rey
youtube
PILE THREE
someone who reserves there space and energy, someone who talks very cautiously and are aware of their surroundings. a lot of people don't actually know how to figure you out and it may sound very cliché but i think its just because you don't reveal your feelings by making facial expressions and people don't know whether to laugh or cry when you tell them something serious. you might like to do stuff alone and may feel like a burden to others but it is not the case for other people, they see you as a sweet and isolated human being that likes their space and peace. i see a LOTTT of overthinking and just daydreaming in general. i feel like something is restricting you from taking action and i think it is your thoughts, relax pile 3😅. no but for real, others avoid you not because you are unlikable but because they see how you thrive alone and you don't look like the type of person that needs help from others.
you may have moved a lot as a child and felt like you lost many things because of that. i feel like you don't feel secure and people notice the disease you portray in your body language. that is totally not a bad thing but i feel like others see the frustration and a void that you have, this is very deep but I'm getting an image of just a black figure which may translate of you feeling numb or not feeling anything at all. i feel like this was in the past for some of you, however where there is hardships there is hope and that is exactly the case for this pile. on a good note, your smile brings comfort to others, may make others happy with your smile and that's just so sweet. you do have many ideas flooding in your mind and i feel like that could bring you excesses so be careful. you have many ideas to start over or to change your personality completely. overall, this is a very reserved and a busy mind pile!
assigned song: How to Disappear- Lana Del Rey
youtube
PILE FOUR
check out pile one if you felt drawn to it as it may resonate with some of you!! so, you care about others very deeply and this gives me motherly vibes. i feel like you may not listen to people and do your own thing but that's entirely okay but the way i see it is that you sometimes need to take advice in order to move forward. you stand your ground fairly and see the contrast between right and wrong, i feel like that gets people thinking how you pick up on things others don't pay much attention to. say if you called someone out for something, others may go like "oh yeah, i didn't even notice". you really cant be bothered to argue with no one, you feel like there is no point because people are childish and immature and that is something you would rather pass on. conflicts and any other sort of fighting is a strict no go for you. people get the vibe of how can you keep your cool??? they actually are very impressed of your skill to maintain your cool😊. i feel like also you go through very transformative periods in your life that actually change your way you act, maybe you go through different eras and like to experiment different styles and ways of living which is totally fine.
wow, you are a very powerful soul, you have some sort of power that others are stunned. you are literally the lion of the jungle, the boss, the CEO, the millionaire, the royal. WOwww just wow. people just keep getting surprise on surprise from you, you may have so many precious hidden facts about you that make people stunned by the fact that you have so much treasure hidden. people see you as a very humble individual who is always there for people and see the good in everyone. it is such a pleasure to be around you, people may feel almost lucky to have you in their life. you hold a lot of secrets as you may stand with he statement that if you talk about your achievements to others it may delay your success. overall, a very very very powerful and mysterious pile.
assigned song: LION- (G)-idle

that's it everyone, thanks for sticking by and like always don't be afraid to interact with this post however you'd like as i entire appreciate everyone's support and kindness!!

hi! i couldn't help myself so here is something with a bit of festive spirit. also i can't believe that is only a week left til christmas lmao
anyway, enjoy this one as well!
summary: y/n decided to finally reveal her feelings, a lot of miscommunication in the house of ferrari, fav red duo being completely chaotic (and all of that with christmas songs playing in the background)
warnings: none, its kinda fluffy at the end tho
pairing: charles leclerc x fem!ferraridriver
Tumblr media
Even though there was only a week left until Christmas, the festive atmosphere was practically unnoticeable due to the amount of work still involved.
Although the season was over and most of the sporting events had passed, the work was still piling up and had no plans to end.
Y/N sat in the chill room, waiting for two interviews she was scheduled to have later that day. She had been at Ferrari's headquarters since the morning, recording materials for social media. Of course she was accompanied by Charles, who was currently lost somewhere.
At that moment it was to her advantage, as she was lying on the couch and browsing the Internet, looking for a Christmas gift for him. Which, by the way, was quite a challenge.
Y/N and Charles became teammates three years ago. Three years were enough for the couple to find a common language and, apart from working together, became friends. Even though they knew each other well, the issue of gifts always remained problematic. What's worse, the girl's love language was giving gifts and surprises, so she always tried to give the best gifts for various occasions. Charles, however, was a tough guy to please.
She sighed, closing another tab in her browser. Time was running out and she still had no specific gift or even an idea of what specific direction she could go. Especially since this year her task was much more difficult, because for several weeks Y/N had a problem with looking at Charles only as a friend. At the beginning, everyone is in denial that no, he's just a friend, there's nothing in common between us and nothing more serious will ever happen, but when you spend so much time together and the bond is so strong and emotional, it's hard not to fall head over heels in love.
Which in Y/N's case just happened.
The problem, however, was that the girl had absolutely no idea how to admit her feelings to her friend. So she decided that this year's Christmas gift would be perfect and meaningful enough for Charles to connect the dots and understand that the girl's feelings were beyond their friendship. At least this was the scenario Y/N had hoped for.
"You look like you just ran the race of the century"
Charles said, which brought his friend out of her thoughts. He held two cups of coffee in his hands, he gave one of them to the girl and plopped down next to her on the sofa.
"I think I need your help."
Y/N said and looked at him as her last resort, which he actually was.
"Something happened?"
He asked and his expression immediately became worried.
"What Christmas present would you be happy about?"
Charles frowned at her direct question.
"Are you asking what you should buy me for Christmas?"
"No, what should I buy for you, but what would a guy around your age with similar interests generally be happy with?"
It was obvious that the contacts in Leclerc's brain were working like crazy, but despite this, they were unable to understand the given command.
"I like someone and I would like to show it to him with a gift. And since I have no idea, I'm asking you for advice"
She explained, trying to sound very convincing. Of course she lied like hell but she assumed that it was darkest under the street lamp and if she played it right, Charles wouldn't guess anything and would also give her a great gift idea.
Leclerc, hearing her words, only nodded and took a sip of his coffee. It was obvious that he was thinking hard and really wanted to help her with the answer.
"Maybe a leather belt, a wallet?"
Y/N frowned.
"Would you be happy with a belt or a leather wallet?"
"I don't, but I'm trying to give you some ideas. I would be happy with a new tennis racket, mine is currently being repaired and I don't know if it's time for a new one."
"A tennis racket?"
Charles nodded, but then changed the subject completely.
"By the way, firstly, why I don't know anything about the fact that you like someone, secondly, why I didn't receive any photo for analysis and thirdly, if you want to show your feelings through a gift, then I think you should do something with your own hand. Or at least show that it means a lot to you"
Y/N analyzed his words carefully. The racket idea wasn't a bad idea, especially since she could have gone a step further and, in addition to the racket, bought them a stay on the court together. Charles tried many times to convince her to play with him, but Y/N had no idea how to play tennis and in her eyes, making a fool of herself on the first date was a bad idea to impress her love interest.
"You actually helped me, you know?"
The girl said and smiled at him. Charles probably helped her more than he expected.
"That's great because you could help me too."
He replied, glancing at her. Y/Ns stomach dropped to her throat, but she decided to act unfazed. In a second of inattention, everything could go to hell.
"Do you also need some gift inspiration?"
"Yes, and I have exactly the same problem as you."
Charles sighed and drank his coffee.
"Some time ago I met a girl. We met a few times and it seems to be nice between us. I would like to give her a gift so that she can see that I care."
"You didn't mention anything about dating anyone."
Y/N said, trying to adopt as neutral a tone as possible. However, her heart was pounding like crazy and she had no idea whether Charles was following her tactics and was actually asking her what she would like to get, whether he had actually met someone and would like to reveal his feelings soon.
"Neither do you, so we're even."
He replied and laughed.
The girl shifted on the couch, feeling her stomach hurt from nerves. She was about to continue talking to him when someone entered the room and informed her that everything for her interview was ready.
Y/N apologized to him and stood up, saying that they would come back to this conversation. However, she sincerely hoped that today was her last day at the headquarters and that she would not have to come here until the new year, which would mean that she would not have to be in Charles' company.
To be honest, she felt idiotic. What if Charles is actually dating someone? What an idiot she would look like if she admitted her feelings.
When she finished all her duties at the company, she returned to the hotel without a word. She spent the rest of the evening on social media searching for any photos or mentions of whether Charles Leclerc was currently dating anyone.
The lack of any information did not help her at all. His words kept drilling a hole in her head, causing all the pre-Christmas cheer to evaporate from her like a burst balloon.
Maybe she was in a bad mood, but at least she had the idea of a Christmas surprise off her mind. She also hoped that Charles' new friend would give him some great gift, for fuck's sake.
The girl threw the phone into the pillows and fell onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. The thoughts swirling in her head were interrupted by the sound of an incoming message. The notification "new message from: lord perceval" appeared on the screen
"You still haven't helped me with the gift."
"If you want to show your feelings through a gift, I think you should make something with your own hands. Or at least show that it means a lot to you."
She replied, quoting exactly what he had recommended to her a few hours earlier.
She locked her phone again and stuffed it under her pillow. Y/N hoped that by the time they met again, she would have gotten over her feelings and Charles would be her teammate again. And the teammate only.
The next day, the girl returned to Monaco, spending preparations for Christmas alone. This year she happened to be spending the holidays alone. Did it bother her much? Not particularly.
She decided to spend this time in peace and quiet. She kept her phone on airplane mode most of the time and she also avoided social media. Did she have any specific goal for this? The only goal was to avoid Charles, both direct contact with him and any mention of him.
On Christmas Eve morning, she went in search of a Christmas tree, which she bought, brought it herself and even installed it in the corner of the living room, wanting to prove her independence at all costs. Although it was all pricked by fresh, sharp needles, the tree still looked beautiful. While she was in the process of decorating it, she heard a knock on the door. She flinched almost so much that she almost dropped the bauble from her hands.
She hung it on a branch and went to open it. How surprised she was when standing in front of her was none other than Charles himself.
"Hey. Something happened that you are here?"
The girl asked, glancing at him.
"I guess so, since I haven't had any contact with you for several days."
"I've been busy. You know, Christmas and all that craziness."
Charles looked at her worriedly, trying to read the truth on her face that he felt like she was hiding from him.
"Everything's all right?"
Y/N just nodded.
"I'm just busy. I guess you are too, so run away to your place. You're probably planning a big family Christmas Eve."
"Can I go in?"
The girl sighed, knowing full well that she wouldn't get rid of him anytime soon. She walked deeper into the apartment, leaving the door open for him. She went to the Christmas tree and took another ornament out of the box and hung it on the tree.
Charles followed her without a word. There was silence inside and the only sign heralding Christmas Eve afternoon was the Christmas tree standing in the corner, which she was decorating in silence. There was no indication that Y/N would be expecting guests in a few hours, so he was surprised that if she was to catch a plane back to her hometown today, she should have been getting ready to leave long ago.
"How are you spending Christmas?"
He spoke after a moment, walking up to her. Without thinking, he took the bauble out of the box and carefully hung it as well on the Christmas tree.
"Here"
"When are the guests coming? I don't want to disturb you."
He laughed quietly, trying to lighten the atmosphere that seemed extremely thick to him. However, when he glanced at his friend, she was straightening the decorations on the tree with a sad expression on her face.
"Why did you come anyway?"
"What do you mean?"
Charles asked, frowning.
"From what you said, you have another girl you should be interested in."
The Monegasque was silent for a moment, having no idea what she was talking about. However, when he connected the dots, he understood what she meant.
"Are you the one who's jealous?"
Charles asked and he couldn't hide his smile. But she was absolutely not in a mood for jokes.
"I'm not jealous, I'm just stating a fact"
"As I see, your entire attention has been completely taken over by your love interest, because since the last time I saw you, you have only replied to me four times."
The girl remained silent, gritting her teeth. She felt like an idiot again.
"Talk to me Y\N, please"
Charles touched her arm, trying to get her attention. He was afraid that something bad was happening between them and he couldn't imagine losing his friend.
"I have nothing to tell you, Charles."
"Nothing, absolutely nothing?"
He asked, looking at her. When she shook her head, he let go of her arm and snorted.
"Wow, your new boyfriend material totally took you away from me."
"There's no new boyfriend material!"
Y/N exploded, no longer able to stand the stupidity that she herself allowed to come to fruition.
"There isn't any and there won't be any, at least not when you are there, damn it!"
"What do you mean?"
Leclerc frowned.
"I like you, idiot! I like you, a lot!"
Y/N felt tears in her eyes and a blush on her cheeks. She was angry with herself for not being able to stand it and gave vent to her emotions, she was sad knowing that she would face some rejection and she was ashamed that despite everything she gave in and confessed her feelings to him.
Charles smiled when he saw the person standing in front of him. Currently in a messy bun, with eyes full of tears, in red Christmas pajamas. And he wasn't smiling because he was amused by her feelings, not at all. He smiled with happiness, because he felt exactly the same.
He stepped closer to her and took her face in his hands, wiping her wet cheeks with his thumbs.
"You couldn't have told me that straight?"
"How could I tell you that I like you, we are friends!"
She said, breaking down into another wave of tears. Seeing his smile made her feel even worse.
"Do you find it so funny? I knew it, I knew perfectly well that it would be like this!"
Y/N wanted to break away from him, but he held her tightly. He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, wanting her to finally calm down.
It worked magically, because the girl froze when she felt his lips on her. He pulled away from her after a moment and stroked her face with his thumbs.
"I like you too, crazy."
"Really?"
"Of course I do. Except I guess we had the exact same fears about revealing our feelings."
"But you said you were dating someone."
Y/N looked at him confused.
"I wanted to spite you. I was a little stung when you said you liked someone."
"I only asked because I wanted to know directly what you would be happy about. I wanted to give you a nice gift from which you could conclude that I like you."
Charles laughed and pulled her to him, hugging her tightly.
The girl squeezed her eyes shut and hugged him, breathing heavily.
"I'm sorry, it was totally stupid"
"For Christmas we should buy each other textbooks for successful communication"
Charles laughed, rubbing her back.
"Doesn't change the fact that you're probably busy today."
Y/N replied, pulling away from him and wiping the remaining tears from her face.
"Say hello to your family from me and wish them a Merry Christmas"
"You will be able to do it yourself. I invite you to join us"
He replied, handing her the last bauble from the box.
The girl looked at him uncertainly.
"I can't, Charles. I can't come empty-handed."
"I think your presence will be the best gift for everyone."
Y/N still wasn't convinced. However, he smiled reassuringly.
"Trust me"
She nodded and took the bauble from him, hanging it on the tree.
He hugged her and kissed her hair.
"Don't feel bad, from all this confusion I didn't manage to prepare any gift either. I didn't want to be a rival for your love interest."
He said and laughed quietly.
Y/N huffed and snuggled into him again.
Standing in each other's arms, they both couldn't believe that after such turmoil they finally managed to talk about their feelings. In an extremely twisted way, fortunately with a positive result. For both of them it was definitely the best gift in the world and the upcoming Christmas Eve evening looked really promising too.

time out (part 2)

← PART 1 / THE AU
Tumblr media
Boxing — you tried to be as well versed in it as possible, learning as many terms and moves and whatever else you could pick up from Aaron when he was helping Miles train for all those weeks. What you weren’t sure of, though, was if a “time out”, or a break, had to be this awkward. What you also weren’t sure of was what on Earth your boyfriend was thinking doing here at midnight training (or splitting his knuckles open, though you didn’t quite know the difference anymore,) right after his tournament had finished.
Regardless, there was nothing you could do about it. Even if you wanted to, you couldn’t just leave and “give him space” as you might’ve done before. The weather didn’t look like it was going to clear up anytime soon, and you had no signal or money; it wasn't like Miles would call a car for himself anyway — stubborn.
Miles was sat on the floor against a set of shelves with various things that belonged to Aaron, and you were on an unbearably stiff bench press seat, legs close together so you wouldn’t fall off and your jacket hung around the weight. Cold, uncomfortable, dead silent — the perfect atmosphere for a productive conversation, of course.
Truthfully, you had no idea what to say. Yeah, you’d just talked big game to your boyfriend and scolded him like his mother probably would’ve if she knew what the hell he was up to, but you hadn’t planned anything after that. Miles wasn’t a talker — not by any means. Right now, he was sat on the floor with his legs crossed, stretching uncomfortably on his elbows with his hands in awkward positions to try and not strain them too much. He hadn’t said anything, so you hadn’t said anything either, and now you were stuck without any words and too many thoughts.
It was a lot of unmet glances and quiet shivers, and you tried your best to kill the urge to just... lean over and hug him. As much as you missed him and wanted to let out everything you’d been feeling for the past couple of weeks, now wasn’t the best time — Miles probably couldn’t even hug you with those gnarly injuries anyway.
Miles’ eyes were dull and tired, fixed on the ground or maybe somewhere you couldn’t see. As usual, you couldn’t gauge anything from his expression besides mild annoyance. It was like a constant guessing game. First, why your texts weren’t going through, secondly, where the hell he was, and now you had to figure out why on Earth he was so frustrated. Your luck had ran out with those first two guesses, and his silence certainly didn’t help — again, not a talker. Not even a looker; he wasn’t stealing glances of you anymore, like he was thinking about something. If only you knew what.
The most you could guess was that this was about not winning — but it couldn’t just be that simple. Miles was stupid sometimes, but he wasn’t delusional — he knew that he probably couldn’t beat every single person in that championship when he was just starting to go professional. This wasn’t some kiddish, lofty dream Miles had either — he was serious from the day Aaron got him those gloves, which were now crumpled up in the corner next to you. He wouldn’t throw a fit over nothing.
It wasn’t right to force it out of him though, and you could still sense the stubbornness lingering in the crease between his brows. You resisted the urge to smooth it out with your thumb, instead just killing it with every other thought you deemed “selfish”. Apparently, waiting was just as much of a competitive sport at boxing.
The door rattled as icy drafts bit at your ankles and fingertips. It sounded like the sky was going to collapse from how intense the storm was growing. Miles was just in a tank top, his hoodie abandoned on the bar behind you. You figured he could get it himself; any sort of help always seemed pitying to him anyway.
“I’m training with uncle Aaron tonight — stay home.”
“I can handle myself. How else you think I got this far?”
“You ain’t comin’ to Vegas with me.”
You found yourself reaching for the hoodie anyway. Miles didn’t notice, of course, but you could see the goose bumps on skin even from this far away.
“Hey,” you muttered, making him look up. “Are you gonna tell me what’s up, or sulk some more?”
His mouth opened, but only to let out a breath, before silence fell between you again.
“Fine, I don’t… get it, or whatever.” You continued, fingers trailing into the sleeves of the hoodie. “But I don’t get how I’m supposed to when you’re not talking to me.”
“There’s nothing to get.” It was like you had Vegas between you two again — like he wasn’t even here.
The fabric of the hoodie was warm, and a part of you didn’t feel like letting go of it — if only your boyfriend was in the hoodie too.
“I don’t get why you’d box without wraps, for one.”
“I’m just… frustrated,” he yielded, albeit unhelpfully. “‘S nothing serious, promise.”
Serious enough to have your fingers hanging on by a thread. You noticed his thumb nursing the blackened skin around his knuckles, and his expression seemed even more distant than it was before. It was always some impossible game, and you hadn’t lost, but were drained and out of words for now.
Maybe he’d figure it out for himself; you weren’t too convinced of that. Despite that, it was getting annoying to hear the constant howling of wind and rain outside. Walking over to the shelf, you dropped the hoodie in Miles’ lap. You doubted he had even looked at you, but you didn’t need him to. Right now, you needed something to fill this boring, cold and wordless room.
Looking through the shelves behind Miles, you noticed a picture: a much younger Aaron wearing boxing gloves, a medal around his neck and standing next to someone you assumed to be Miles' dad. You'd never looked at any of the pictures close up, but you noticed there were a lot of old pictures like that, before finding Aaron's collection of records.
Taking the first one out, you put it into the player and carefully set the needle, glancing at the name of the song. His taste in music wasn’t exactly popular, but you’d rather listen to “DREAMER” than “inconveniently timed Brooklyn storm” right now.
Letting out a sigh of your own, you slumped down next to him as he pulled the hoodie over his head, arms going back to being crossed.
"~Dreamer... dreamer... Like a fool, I thought that it could be..." Of course it was a sad song. Blues? The haunting melody made you feel blue. It made the cold feel more numbing than biting on your skin. It made you feel, in general — what, you couldn’t really place.
“…Are we okay?” you muttered without much thought. The urge to talk had come back, and you hadn’t decided if you regretted speaking yet.
"~Dream on... dream on... surely someone, will understand me..."
Miles let out a breath, and it felt like you were exchanging more sighs than words. “Yeah. I just… ‘S not you.”
No “promise”, though. Did that make it more or less honest?
"~What do I say, when I've, oh, said too much? I think by now, I'm wastin' time..."
“...I love you, y’know?” you continued, hating how out of place it sounded. It was as useless as that text you tried to send, but you were tired, and missed your boyfriend, and wished he would give you even a glance.
“~I'm going… oh Lord I'm gone…”
“Love you too,” he mumbled in reply. It wasn’t very reassuring, and it didn’t seem like it to him either, because he reached out to brush your hand against his. You took his hand first — gently, and his thumb pressed into your palm in a sort of silent apology.
You hated how futile it was, and how much you craved it again. You hated you couldn’t be even a little mad at him, and how you were defending him to yourself. Maybe you were both in the wrong. No — you weren’t wrong, you were trying to be understanding.
You weren’t wrong for feeling this way, were you?
“~You are the absence, of my mind…”
You hated how much you missed that boy from all those months ago — even though he was right in front of you. It didn’t feel like Miles Morales was yours anymore, he was theirs — whoever “they” were. His competitors, his managers, the media… It was like there was no trace of the Miles you knew before. Maybe it’s because you couldn’t deny it anymore: that Miles had a dream, and you probably weren’t in it. You hated how you took it so personally.
And you hated how you reached out to hug him, despite all of that.
It was just you for a moment, and you were about to pull away before his arms wrapped loosely around the small of your back.
You hated how you hid your face over his shoulder, and how nice it felt. You hated how warm he was, and how the room was freezing.
You hated how familiar this was.
“~Lord, dreamer… dreamer…”
“Sorry, cariño. Didn’t mean to be an asshole.” Miles’ fingertips dragged uselessly over your back, and you shamelessly tightened your arms around him as he pressed his cheek into yours. You might’ve shed a tear, if it weren't for how heavy your eyes were already with the late hour. Neither of you could go home yet, though you weren’t sure if you wanted to right now.
“~Like a fool… I thought, well, that it could be…”
The long sigh you let out was followed by Miles’ own quiet one before he kissed you on the cheek. His breath warmed your frigid face and brushed at your heart, as he always did. You wished you could be upset, overreact, scream at his face, tell him how you felt all this time. It just always had to end with forgiveness, because now, you couldn’t even remember what you had felt.
And you hated it — not as much as you’d like.
Closing your eyes, you buried your head into his hoodie while the music, the storm and the sound of your own breathing blurred together in your mind. All you were left with were your own thoughts.
This boxing thing didn’t involve you — it never did. He didn’t want you there to see him, or even tell you he was home from Vegas, and now it felt like he was just putting up with you here. It felt like you and him were on opposite sides of the pavement, only walking together to share the same umbrella. He just didn’t want you to get soaked — or hurt.
“I told you not to come today… I’m walkin’ you home.”
He didn’t want you to expect too much.
“Nah, you don’t need to see me train. It’s borin’ as hell.”
He didn’t want you to give up on him.
“I’ll make it big — promise.”
He wanted his dream — did he still want you?
“Just be patient with me, cielo.”
Patient, huh? If only you could be like Rio. It felt like you were just as bad as Miles. Maybe you were — both just as bad as each other.
“Why didn’t you text me? …At all?” Muffled against his hoodie, you hoped your voice didn’t waver. It felt a little manipulative, even if it wasn’t in the slightest, but you couldn’t keep telling yourself things were all good. Miles had been avoiding you, whether that was intentional or not. You were just being open — trying to be open. You hope he’d try too.
The boy in question was silent, before he pulled away, hands lingering at your sides.
“I was…” Miles took in a breath, voice dying out for a moment. “Look, I…”
“~Down the wrong way, on a one way street…”
“I can’t be a boxer anymore.”
It felt like the rain had gone quiet. There was no need for an umbrella between you two anymore. It felt like you’d closed it yourself, walking to the opposite side of the pavement again, watching him and the dull, empty sky from afar.
You were the one that asked him — you wanted him to speak to you, and now you weren’t even sure what to say.
“~You'd think by now, I would have learned…”
“What do you mean…?”
“My contract got terminated.” His voice sounded forced, strangely robotic. Was that what you so wanted to get from him?
“Can’t you just… get signed by somebody else?”
“There is nobody else. I had a contract with Norman Osborn — he basically owns boxing.”
“~I saw a little, but I learned even less…”
Your heart dropped a little — you wouldn’t let it drop any more than that. It made sense why Miles was so excited back then if he got signed by someone like that. Now, that excitement meant nothing. All you could think of was that video, that interview…
“I jus’ hope you watchin’, cause I’m here. Miles Morales made it!”
So he’d just… given up? Miles had given up? Was that it? The end of it?
Boxer or not, you suddenly had the urge to punch him — maybe even punch yourself. It didn’t even matter who was right and who was wrong anymore, because you didn’t even know who was in front of you. It was almost uncanny to see Miles like this, so dejected; that’s what he’d been feeling all this time. As much as it seemed like he was mad at you, or was avoiding you, or lying to you, it was never really about you.
Miles was refusing to let go of his dream — of himself — until right now.
And you didn’t know what overcame you at that moment. Maybe it was Rio’s words, or the fact that Aaron wasn’t here, or the fact that you felt like you’d lost your boyfriend — if he wasn’t going to be stubborn about it anymore, you sure as hell were.
“So you’re telling me nobody else is gonna sign you? At all? You haven’t even looked?”
“You don’t get it, ‘s more complicated than—”
“Baby, look at me for a sec.” Your hand was on his shoulder with more confidence than common sense, eyes were square with his avoidant, dull, hopeless gaze. You haven’t ever seen Miles hopeless before. You couldn’t let him be if it was the last thing you did. “You, Miles Gonzalo Morales—”
“Aight, you don’t need the full name.”
“I do need it, because my whole ass boyfriend changed boxing history.” Frankly, you had no idea what you were saying; it felt like you were shooting in the dark, but you didn’t care if you sounded a little stupid, or over-the-top, because if that’s what it took to get your boyfriend to crack even a little… “His 'legendary left jab'—”
“Babe, where the hell did you get that from?” The look he was giving you was probably more of a “jab” than anything.
“…The news.” The corner of your mouth quirked up despite your best efforts, face pricking with heat as you remembered reading through that Bugle article like it was divine revelation. A little stupid, a little over-the-top, sure, but it was true.
Miles’ lips pressed together, and your face heated more trying to decipher his expression. You didn’t have to, because the snicker that escaped his throat was enough make all the rain and thunder and lighting, and even the song insignificant.
“~I only learn to regret…”
“Miles, I’m serious,” you muttered, rather unseriously, brows furrowing as you tried to smooth out the meekness on your face.
“Legendary?” There was a hint of his usual mirth in his tone, and you tried not to be bothered by it. Anything was better than seeing Miles like that: ridiculous, over-the-top, unserious, but not hopeless.
“Look, it was the Bugle, okay? Some millennial wrote that — like, some lady called Mary.”
“Why do you even remember that?” Anything that could come to mind, you’d tell him. No more silence. Just be yourself. Keep talking.
“I read it, like, a lot, okay? I was really proud of you and I just…”
The smirk fell fast from Miles’ face, and you held back any words you might’ve had. The rain eased back in as a constant patter against the windows — the silence had come back despite your efforts. Your heart started to sink a little again, but all you could offer was an awkward smile.
“You’re proud?” he asked, like you’d just lied to his face.
“Yeah…? I always am, but seeing you make it so far…” It was something you didn’t say enough, you realised. The words echoed in your mind as you found the confidence to look at him.
“…Miles Morales made it, right?”
Another tiny breath left Miles, his eyes closing for a moment as you waited for him to speak. You wanted to backtrack, maybe hope the rain would die down soon so you two could leave — you had sort of snuck out… That wasn’t the point, though. You weren’t sure what the point was right now, and you weren’t sure what he was thinking, as always — again.
His lips pressed to your forehead, and then your forehead was against his chest — somehow.
You still had no idea what he was thinking. Now you had no idea what he was feeling — or what you were feeling.
The room was freezing, but you were sure you were slowly setting on fire. Traces of the awkward smile you had were stuck on your face as your cheek pressed into the fabric of his hoodie, and suddenly every little thing you’d thought about saying to him had disappeared in its entirety.
“Dios (God), am I a dumbass…” he murmured to himself. With no clue what to do, you could only focus on the hesitance in the way he held you close, because of his injuries, you weren’t sure. His fingers were cold, like the air was. You didn’t hate the warmth this time.
The silence returned again, and instead of your heart sinking, it was fluttering wildly. You so wanted to take it in your hands and hold it still, but you couldn’t even hold Miles back.
He did this sort of thing often — used to do this often, when he was stressed for whatever reason. He wouldn’t say if he was, but you could always tell. Sometimes he’d ask, and right now, he didn’t, but it wasn’t like you ever refused; it was nice, safe, and away from the storm — close.
"~Surely someone, will understand me..."
He kissed the top of your head, like he was hoping you’d understand.
If only you could. If only you could understand why your boyfriend couldn’t see it — see how far he’d come, how much he’d achieved, how proud he should be of himself, how neither of you should be here right now.
If only Rio was here to tell him how proud she was. Or Aaron. Or his dad.
You never really knew his dad. You knew he’d be proud, at least. He'd probably be beaming seeing how far his son Miles had come, like he did in those pictures with Aaron.
You were proud too. Did that count for anything? Would that change anything? It wouldn’t get him another contract.
You wanted to squeeze his hand, but that was a stupid idea considering the state of it. A lot of your ideas felt stupid as of late. None of them would get him another contract.
It felt like a lot more than just the contract, though; maybe that's why it was so hard. If only he’d tell you.
But waiting wasn’t a game, or a competitive sport. It was nothing like boxing; there was no winner. Waiting was a choice — a promise, that you’d be there when he was ready.
“Just be patient with me, cielo.”
You wondered if he’d ever be ready.
"~Dream on, baby."
You wrapped your arms around him, finally. At the very least, you promised to hold him, if not before, then now. He tightened his grip too, just mariginally.
“I’m sorry, mi cielo.” he started, voice barely audible. “I swear, I didn’t know you actually…” Miles trailed off, resting his chin on the top of your head instead.
“Cared?” you suggested, wondering if he could hear you. “It’s a lot more than that.”
You felt his chest fall as he let out a sigh. “I know.”
“I want you to know.”
“I do, I just… I’m being real dumb and—” You squeezed your arms around him before he could finish his sentence; no more avoidance. What you were going to say after, you didn’t know.
“…What?” His voice was suddenly soft, controlled. It was like he could hear what was going on in your head.
“You ever…" You moved your head away from his chest slightly, so he could hear better. "You ever had a stage name in mind?”
It was the only thing you could think to ask, though you didn’t ask it with much thought at all. Still, things weren't going to go anywhere if you kept dodging the subject.
Miles was silent for more than just a moment — it was enough to guess he did have one. “...Why?”
“Cause… when you get back in the ring, people gotta know you right?” It wasn’t just blind optimism — you decided that you did really believe in him. They weren’t going to see the end of someone like him, not by a long shot — or a legendary left jab. Your boyfriend was one hell of a boxer; it wouldn't just stop here — no way.
“I mean, '17-year-old from NYC' isn’t exactly catchy,” you continued, despite his silence.
Just one loss before so many wins. At his age, a win, against a “long-time champion” no less, was worth a million times more than that Norman guy’s contract, no matter how much of a big-shot he was.
“You think I’m gettin’ signed?” They’d be stupid not to.
“I know you’re getting signed.” Rio's words came back to you, and despite your hesitance, you found yourself saying: “If not, I’ll sign you and go to Vegas myself.”
Patient — like his mom, but also with that fighting spirit. You realised you had to be on his level too — match his energy, his enthusiasm. He’d spent long enough being on his own.
“...Fine, fine,” he shrugged. The edge in his tone seemed to fade as he thought for a moment. “If you’re signin’ me, you’re signin’… The Prowler.”
Miles loved boxing? Screw it, you loved boxing too. You loved boxing more than him, in fact — because it was a part of him. And even when he didn’t love his dream so much, you’d be there to love it for him. He loved all of you, and you loved all of him. That was still true now, even if he was going through something not so lovely.
And soon, you’d have something else to love too. Something new.
“The Prowler,” you repeated, a smile of your own creeping up on your face. “…You sure?” The groan Miles let out was enough to curb your need to annoy him… with love.
“Cariño…" he mumbled. "You ask just to make fun of me?” Miles shook his head, and you just squeezed him around the waist again.
“No, no way. I wanna welcome you to the team, Prowler.” A few firm pats on his back got him to laugh again, and though it was barely, that moment felt worth all those weeks.
“You can’t be serious.”
“I’m a hundred percent serious. You and your 'legendary left jab' and all.”
“You…” The hint of a smile was in his voice, and his good hand came to pull you closer, pressing the two of you flush against each other.
“Me…?” Your voice was muffled as you rested against the hollow of his neck, feeling the vibrations of his voice as he spoke.
“Can’t believe you’re still here.” It sounded more like he was talking to himself, speaking under his breath. The way it came out, it seemed like something he'd wanted to say for a while.
“Why would I leave?” Why would you ever leave?
“No clue.”
His good hand found your face, and you turned your head a bit so it wouldn't be so awkward to reach it.
“Don't know why I ever thought that.”
You felt his thumb run across your cheek, before pulling away and tilting your face up to meet his eyes.
“Damn, you're beautiful,” he murmured, dipping his head down to bump your nose with his, stoic expression and all. You were just about able to keep your composure.
“You trying to make it up to me with flattery?” It wasn’t like he had much to make up for — in your eyes, at least. The tease made his eyes narrow, but the ghost of a smile was on his lips.
“I can make it up to you a hell of a lot better than that.”
“Morales,” you warned, thought it didn't come out much like a warning. Especially not with how quietly you said it, your face so close to his.
“What?” It was his turn to be annoying. “Lo imaginé…” (I thought so…) You weren't sure you minded it.
It was nice to be joking, and flirting, and close again. There was no need to protest right now — no reason to pretend to be mad. His arm shifted to search for your hand, and you unconsciously laced your fingers together as your faces drew closer. You were already squeezing his hand before—
“Aye…!” Miles hissed, slipping his hand away as you both remembered the nasty, loud bruise that was spreading across his hand. His left hand, you realised, was the one he’d injured — it wasn’t exactly legendary now.
“Sorry…” you muttered, lips pressing together tightly as you took in the sight again. “But that was your fault."
Miles frowned at you almost incredulously as he held his own hand. “Nuh-uh.”
“Time out, Morales.” You couldn’t help it. Or help the smile on your face.
“You’re kidding.”
“Nope.” You kissed his cheek to really rub it in. No more words from him, it looked like.
After a moment more of silence, and watching Miles nurse his own hand, you spoke up again. “…Are you gonna go back? To boxing?” Miles looked back at you, before nodding.
“Yeah. Eventually, I guess...” He let out a sigh, but it seemed like one of fatigue rather than frustration. You blinked away your own tiredness that was creeping back. "As the Prowler.”
“Got a lot of… prowling to do, then.” He pursed his lips at you in contempt, and you gave him a meek look in return. As much as you made fun of the name, it was pretty cool. “When are you thinking?”
“I’ll wait a little. ‘S too soon." Miles put his less-brutalised hand on your knee, looking at you a bit more earnestly. "Gotta make it up to you, first.”
“Obvio.” (Obviously) You tried hiding your smirk this time, but he caught it anyway.
“Driving me crazy for no reason,” he mumbled to himself, shaking his head. The few times you did speak Spanish, it usually wasn't to be sweet.
“A good crazy?” you tried, hoping he'd humour you a little. Maybe he could find it sweet?
“Ni hablar.” (No way.)
Sweet enough to kiss you, anyway. With his better hand, he held the side of your face by his fingertips, pressing a short, chaste kiss to your lips. The feeling was warmer than anything, and you were left with a smile tugging at the corners of your mouth as he pulled away.
“Te amo (I love you),” he whispered with his own shred of a smile. You caught a glint in his eye before his expression faded into that same serious look. “I'll fix up, I promise.”
“No need to promise." With your thumb, you finally smoothed the crease between his brows — an old, shared habit. It made his expression soften a little. "Cause you will, and you’ll make it even further next time.”
“Right,” he agreed, hand still lingering by your jaw. “I will. Gimme a time out if I don’t.” A laugh escaped your mouth at that.
"Sure." You met him with your own chaste kiss, your heart swelling as you felt him smile a little against your lips. “I love you too, by the way.”
The record had stopped playing, ages ago, you noticed, and there was another stretch of silence. Total silence, actually — it had stopped raining entirely.
“We should probably head back,” Miles stated as he looked out the window with you, before getting up with a bit of a groan. The two of you needed rest, especially him.
“Yeah,” you murmured, reaching for your jacket. “I mean, I sort of… snuck out.”
His silence made you turn back, only to be met with an unamused look. You tried not to laugh again. “So you’re sayin’ we’re both dead.”
“Pretty much.” He rolled his eyes at your sheepish smile, but you caught the corner of his mouth lift up as he turned to the door. It wasn't like the two of you hadn’t snuck out before — this was just like all those other times, just more… unplanned.
The night time air was strangely cool and breathable as you left the warehouse. Though the concrete was slippery, and you and Miles had to hold onto each other to not fall, Brooklyn was glimmering almost ethereally by the moonlight, the sky clear with any lingering clouds now gone. You hooked your arm in Miles' arm, his hands loosely tucked into the pocket of his hoodie. He’d have some explaining to do to his mom about his hands, and you’d have to creep back into your apartment as quietly as possible — but right now, in the silence hum of the city, you felt that things would be okay. Maybe they weren’t excellent, or ideal right now, but okay was a good start. The Prowler was a thing of the future, albeit near future. Right now, it was just you and Miles Morales, going home together past your curfews.
Ping! Ping Ping Ping Ping Ping Ping—
Way past your curfews.
At the same time, the two of you pulled your phones out, only to be bombarded with notifications of missed calls and texts. You were a short distance away from the warehouse now, and your phones had only just gotten signal. It was 1:02am, and you had walls of texts asking you where the hell you were and to "get your ass home right now" on your lock screen. Miles gritted his teeth, and you didn't want to think about what Rio had to say.
As the pinging died down, your eyes met, the both of you thinking the exact same thing:
“We’re so dead.”
You shot a quick message back and mental prayer, Miles doing the same before hastily linking arms with you again. He returned your sheepish look with his own as the two of you kept walking, trying not to slip in the puddles. It had already been a long night, and it was about to get way longer, but at least you could have each other’s company.
"~All my life, been a dreamer..."
"~Dream on... dream on..."
After all, you could guess that a lot more than just a “time out” was waiting for you at home.
"~Maybe somewhere... maybe somewhere..."

A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be [2] - Max Verstappen
written by alocon
Note: Name and Part One based on the song A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be by Jess Benko
Summary: After the release of your first song, released the day before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, there is some obvious tension in the garage as you and your ex boyfriend have one final fight for the championship.
Warning: Angst? I guess. Use of Y/N (sorry, I don't like using it but there were a couple of times that I had to bc I didn't have any alternatives), some social media at the end.

A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be [Part Two] - MV¹
2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Thursday - Media Day
"Lovely to see you all," Crofty said, looking around the group of drivers in the press conference. On the couch was Max, Lando, Charles, Lewis and You. "Firstly, Y/N, all of us over at Sky Sports are loving the new song, it’s been the talk of the paddock all morning too. Lots of us want to know, who is it about?”
You chuckled, knowing that you’d be asked at some point. You hadn’t expected it to be so soon. “Firstly, thank you. I’m glad that so many people have been liking it. Lew and I have literally been working on it since like the start of the year. I’m so thankful that he agreed to do the guitar for me because I wouldn’t have been able to do this without him. As for who it’s about.” You paused, looking quickly at Max, who’s eyes were already on you. You looked at him for a moment before turning your attention back to Crofty, making sure to look at glance at the drivers as you did. “It’s about one of my ex’s. I won’t say which one.”
“And the name. How did you come up with the song name? How are you feeling about this weekend, by the way?”
“It was something that he said to explain why we broke up. I like to think that everything happens for a reason, you know? And sometimes, things aren’t meant to be. And that’s just life. I’m just glad that people like it. I’m so excited for this weekend. As you all know, it’s been hard working towards this weekend, and I’m looking forward to giving Max a hell of a hard time.”
He chuckled, looking at you. Your eyes went straight to him, sending him a competitive grin. “Hope you’re looking forward to P2 in the drivers, buttercup.” Him hitting you with the teasing childhood nickname was a surprise. He started calling you that when you were both 14 because he slipped a buttercup into your hand and it scared the life out of you. So since then, he has never let you live it down. You didn’t even hesitate in your response to him.
“I hope you’re looking forward to seeing me on the top step of the podium, Princess Max.” The glare he shot you was almost instantaneous as Charles started laughing, obviously having understood the reference.
“Right, just for that, I'm taking you out of the race on turn one.” You recognised that teasing tone in his voice, feeling your stomach flutter a little at that beautiful, happy tone that you had missed being directed at you. But you shook it off. ‘He wasn't meant to be, remember?’ you told yourself as the conference continued.
The moment you got out of the press conference, the atmosphere changed. Max walked straight past you, not even daring to look at you. You and Max still rarely talked. Since the start of 2024 you had become more civil, but you were nowhere near friends.
Max slumped down onto the seat in his driver's room. He ran his hand through his hair, sighing. Fuck. He heard the door open and shut and, moments later, felt a presence on the space beside him on the couch. “Go on, then. What’s up?”
He raised his head to the man, looking at the seriousness all across his face. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“Max. I was your teammate for like 2 years. I saw the way you loved her and I saw the mess after you broke up. I also just watched that press conference. Start speaking.” Daniel was persistent, to be fair to him. But he also had a point. Over the years, Daniel had heard a lot about how he felt but he never talked about you to him.
“I regret it. Basically every day. It’s not left my mind since I listened to her song.”
“Still? Max, it’s been 6 years since you broke up with her. Also, YOU broke up with HER. Why would you do that if you didn’t want to?”
Max sighed, the memories of his prior conversation coming back to him.
[November 2018]
“You need to break up with her.” The seven words he had always dreaded hearing. Never in a million years would he ever consider breaking up with you. You were his muse, his soulmate. You were the person he wanted to marry, the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. It was funny, the words that left the man in front of him’s mouth. He knew he had a long shot of ever getting him to do that.
“Give me one good reason why I should.”
“She’ll just distract you, Max!” Jos’ voice was already doing Max’s head in and he had only said 12 words so far. ‘What happened to hello, how are you?’ He thought, rolling his eyes at the poor excuse that he spilled.
“As if she had ever distracted me before. Seriously, dad. We have been karting and racing together for years, for our entire relationship, and nothing will change now that we are in the same team.”
And that’s how it became an argument. The pair were shouting at each other. And then the bomb dropped. Jos handed Max a photo, making a comment about how he wouldn’t want it to be leaked. Max looked at the photo, his stomach instantly turning with disgust as he realised the photo that his father had managed to get ahold of and was now using it to threaten him, attempting to get him to break up with you, his person, because he wasn’t a fan of you. Jos never had liked you. Whilst being with you, you had helped Max realise that Jos was not a good person by any means, and Jos didn’t like that. As if on queue, your head poked around the door, quickly apologising when you realised that Jos was there. Jos smiled at you, before speaking. “No problem, I was just leaving. Think about what I said, Max.”
“What a dick,” Daniel declared, having taken a few moments to process what Max had just explained.
“Daniel, I miss her so much.”
“I know, mate. I know.” Daniel paused his speaking for a minute, attempting to come up with some kind of recommendation. He was fully aware that Max couldn’t express how he felt in person, so he came up with an idea. “Maybe write her a letter. She likes displays of affection like that.”

Race Day.
Crossing the line was the happiest you had been in a while. The race was excellent. For most of the race, Max and you had been fighting for P1 until he barely managed to get out of your DRS range. He ended up being a good few seconds ahead with 10 laps remaining. You didn't let that get to you, though, opting to keep pushing to the very last lap. And you did, getting closer and closer. However, you would've been perfectly happy if Max won. You both put up a brilliant fight and the drive against him was superb. But then you saw your golden opportunity. You overtook him, riskily but safely and fairly, regaining the lead of the race. Final lap. You heard the radio sound, being disappointed when Christian could be heard through it. “Give Max back the position, please.”
“Why should I?” You were pissed. Once again, they were attempting to strip you of everything you had worked hard for, everything that you wanted and dreamed of. Everything that you and Max talked about when you were kids. One day, he would say, one day we'll both be world champions, driving for Red Bull together and happily in love. Well, that last part didn't happen but you weren't about to give up on that.
“Max has worked so hard for this.”
“Fuck off, Christian, so have I.”
He said your name with venom, chuckling as he spoke. “We have a meeting to sign your contract extension tomorrow, remember. You've got to respect what your boss says if you want to keep driving.”
You scoffed as you crossed the finish line. No congratulations from Christian, a congratulations from your amazing race engineer, of course, but he was quickly shushed by Christian. You knew at least Crofty and Martin would be cheering in that commentary box, likely would be referring to it as the most interesting race since Abu Dhabi 2021 or Bahrain 2022.
Getting out of the car, you saw the red bull team. But they weren't cheering for you, they were cheering for Max. You hugged your engineer, excitedly celebrating your first world championship. The one you had worked so hard for day in and day out. You then rushed to hug a bunch of the drivers who were there, starting with Fernando who finished P3 in the race, as well as the championship. Then you went to them all, starting with Lewis, then Charles and Carlos, then Yuki, then Logan and so on. And then you saw Max. He walked to you, giving you a congratulatory hug. You hugged back, your arms going around his waist. You felt his hands move around your shoulders to your neck, confusion filling you as you pulled away from the hug, noticing the Dutch flag wrapped around your shoulders. “If I won, I was going to wear it to the podium. But this time, it's your turn. Congratulations.”
The post race interview started with Fernando, then only Max. When he was asked about how he felt about losing to you, he, too, referenced your childhood. “On the 14th of February 2012, she asked me what my dream was. I told her that it was for us to both make it to F1. For us to both be world champions, driving in the same team. Together. And a couple other things. Whilst we didn't get those other things, I'm happy that we have finally achieved most of our dreams.” It then went onto you.
Jenson asked about the race, congratulated you, the normal stuff. He then brought up the request from Horner about letting Max win. He smiled softly, signalling for you to speak as much as you wanted. “To be quite honest, Jens, I think it was a stupid team order. For them to assume that I would willingly give up a championship to give it to someone else is insane. I’ve been listening to his orders for years, letting Max through most of the time I was asked. However, when I don't, all I would receive is a lecture. ‘You should’ve listened to us’ he would say. ‘You didn’t deserve that win, you are lucky you are even driving for us, don’t push your luck.’” Your eyes scanned the crowd as you spoke. Disgust about Christian’s actions was over all the driver’s faces. Including Max, who was clearly surprised. Christian, on the other hand, looked as white as a ghost. You continued speaking.
“However, I am not, by any means, upset with Max. I know that none of this was his fault. It was Christian’s,” you said, pausing to take a breath before saying the next thing. This whole year had built up to this moment. “Which is why I am incredibly happy to announce that the contract renewal meeting will not be necessary, because I will be driving for Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team in the 2025 season.” You glanced over to Lewis who had grinned at you, winking, having already known the news. You took this opportunity to lightly tease him about his inability to say the team name. “See, Lew? It’s not that difficult to remember the name.”

“So… Mercedes, huh?”
“Yes, Max. Mercedes. You won’t miss me too much when I’m gone, no?”
He chuckled, sitting on your couch as you packed your stuff up. “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. Are you going to the Red Bull Team Party later?”
“I wasn’t invited. Never have been.”
“Really?” He watched you nod. “Well, come anyway. Be my plus one, show them who’s the boss.” He stood up, stepping closer to you. “I’m sorry they favoured me. I never rewatched the races so I never saw the radio. I truly am sorry.”
“Max, it wasn’t your fault. I’ll think about your offer, I need to go.”
“Wait.” He reached in his pocket, pulling out some paper. “Read that when you get to the hotel, please.”
Y/N,
You’ll have to bear with me, I will try my best not to waffle too much. I struggle to express how I feel through words, so Daniel suggested a letter.
When I think back to 2018, I realised that I never gave you a proper explanation on why I broke up with you. It was not a choice which I wanted to make. If given the choice, I would’ve chose the opposite, however, given the situation, the choice was obvious.
My father threatened me with a photo. I know what you’re thinking. “Why would a photo give you a reason to break up with me?” Jos managed to get a hold of an inappropriate photo of you, one which he threatened to release if I stayed with you. Believe me, if the opportunity was there, we would still be dating now. However, I couldn’t do this to you. I couldn’t let your reputation in the F1 community get destroyed because I decided to be selfish and stay with you. I hope I can be forgiven for this. I loved your song. It might’ve been the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.
I know that our break up was irreparable. I handled it way worse than I should have. However, I again have reason for this. I feared that, if I wasn’t harsh, you would’ve been determined to keep us working. And I have a soft spot for you, I always have done. I would do anything for you in a heartbeat.
I know I never said it when we were together, and I know that I should have, but I love you more than I have ever loved anyone before. I have since the day we met to the current day. I’m planning to give this letter to you the day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after the race, but it was written before. I hope you know that, no matter what, even if you win the championship, nothing will ever stop me feeling devoted to you. You are my life, my soul, my person. I will love you until the day I take my last breath.
I know we may never be able to repair what we had, but maybe we could just be friends? If so, my number is *** *** *** ***, please message me, schat.
Forever yours,
Maxie xx

You messaged him. Of course you did. Deep down, you missed him. He was your person. You were happy he at least wanted to be friends. Sure, he absolutely was a soulmate who wasn't meant to be, but maybe you could at least talk a little more now.

youruser: My time at Red Bull Racing has come to an end. This decision was not one I took lightly, however, it took little to no consideration to make this decision. The treatment that I received from Red Bull Racing over the years and, more specifically, Christian Horner, has been one I would not wish upon any driver. That being said, Max, you have been a wonderful teammate. Can't wait to beat you again next year, just in a Mercedes this time. Goodbye Oracle Red Bull Racing, hello Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. (P.s. Christian, I am bringing my race engineer with me xoxo)

C/w : crude language, forced marriage, matchmaking, homophobia is implied, abusive parents, parental abuse (minor violence), drug mentioned, smoking…
A/n : just some warning
-> this story will be a series so don’t worry if the characters seem to hate each other, it won’t stay that way
-> I’d like to remind y’all that English is not my first language and that I make a lot of mistakes (I simply hope it won’t be noticeable or troublesome)
-> This is a fanfiction, none of the events are based on real life events and I even if the characters have the names of real people, they have been used purely for fictional purposes.

You lighted a cigarette and placed delicately in between your lips, with a quick movement, that perfectly reflected how smoking was a habit for you. You were in your own bubble and with how peaceful you looked, it was complicated to guess the actual atmosphere around you.
Indeed, the music was pounding in your ears and the laughter and screams of the people around you could almost cover the loud music. Almost. But still, you weren’t moving, it was just you and your cigarette and also the two entire bottles of alcohol that you had just finished two minutes earlier. Honestly, you were just drunk and all the people trying to talk to you just seemed so far away.
Oh, how much you loved your life.
Nothing was better than enjoying life with your friends at 3 a.m on your yacht.
You loved your friend.
You loved your yacht.
And you loved being drunk.
And that’s with these enjoyable thoughts that you drift off to sleep, a cigarette still trapped between your lips and a faint smile on your lips.

Hands were on your body and you could hear your name being called. You were being shaken so hard by those hands that you couldn’t help but wake up. As you slowly opened your eyes, the sun filled your vision and all you could do was growl in discomfort. You squinted a little before actually noticing your surroundings. Your friends were all sleeping in different parts of the boat, in positions that didn’t look comfortable at all. Your eyes then followed the hands on your body just for them to fall on the face of your own mom.
“What the fuck are you doing here ?” You asked, your voice rough from your hangover and from how much you screamed the lyrics of some stupid songs yesterday.
“Language !” She squeaked before lifting you up, abruptly from where you were lying, making you grimaced and completely dizzy.
She then started shaking you again with a displeased scowl on her face.
“S-stop… stop !” You exclaimed, removing her hands from your body and taking a step back. You then straightened your clothes and looked her dead in the eyes before asking : “What do you want ?”.
But perhaps the tone didn’t please her because the disgust could be read in her eyes and without a second thought, she slapped your cheek.
Your reaction showed the signs of a routine. You were used to your mom lashing out on you and because of that, you didn’t bat an eye at that slap, you just waited for her to tell you what you did wrong this time.
“How dare you be here instead of at the date I took days planning for you ? ” she screamed. “Your…” she looked around, pointing an accusatory finger at the mess that your friend and you had made the night before. “Your lifestyle is starting to spread among the good families and your chances of getting married keep on decreasing. You little ungrateful brat, you don’t know how much your existence is tarnishing my reputation. ” You listened to her ranting but after a while, you couldn’t help but yawn which she noticed immediately. “I’m going to find a husband to tame you and after that you can say goodbye to partying, getting drunk because you’ll be too busy carrying your husband's kids.”
You tried your hardest to not gagged because what your mother was describing seemed like the deepest part of hell.
You were 24 for fuck’s sake. You had your own business that was making so much profit but all your mom cared about was the fact that you were an unmarried woman enjoying her youth.
“I don’t have time to think about marriage.” You simply answered and to that she slapped you again.
“Don’t raise your voice at me !” She said before turning on her heels, going back from where she came from.
You knew she was up to something and you weren’t that excited to find out what was her new way to ruin your life.
Sighting, you slowly sat on the floor, suddenly too tired to stand.
“Your cheeks must hurt a lot.” You heard a voice mumbling close to you, making you flinched.
“God, you scared me !” You gasped. “When did you wake up ?” You asked Yunjin who was still lying on the floor.
“I mean… your mom screams a lot.” She giggled.
“I know… she’s so annoying.” You answered.

Bada’s life was perfect.
She truly had nothing to complain about. She had started her business 3 years ago and it had flourished so fast that she was known among the most notorious circles. What was her company ? She was the boss of a prosperous matchmaking company for wealthy people.
And she was truly popular. All the affluent figures were passing through her to find a good match with an equivalent prosperity since rich people don’t mix with the plebeian.
There was something that she was so proud of : she never failed to create a good couple where both parties were beneficial for each other.
Today, she had a new meeting with a mother who wanted to find the perfect match for her daughter. Usually, her employees would take care of that but when she realized that the woman was a part of the Shin family. She was such an influential person and if she managed to marry her daughter to a good man, that would make her business skyrocketed.
The woman that entered the place was an elegant middle aged woman. She had a smile that looked friendly but also quite cold. She was an intimidating woman and Bada was really curious about what her daughter looks like.
Bada stood up to bow slightly, indicating the couch in front of her with her hands for the woman to sit. And once the woman was sitting, Bada followed on the other couch.
“I heard that you were capable of miracles.” Said the mother without introducing herself, not that she needed to.
“I’m flattered by your words Mrs. Shin.” Chuckled Bada.
“Those are not my words though. Not yet but I would love to see if the rumors are true.” She said before searching for something in her bag while Bada tried not to show any discomfort by what she had just said. “This is my daughter.” She said showing a photo on her phone.
Bada took a look at it and she found a beautiful girl, smiling widely at the camera. If this was the appearance of her daughter, Bada was sure that there would be no problem to find her a good husband, as long as she was not as rude as her mother.
“Don’t be fooled by her appearance, she’s a debauched woman.” Scoffed Mrs. Shin and Bada couldn’t help but be shocked by the way this woman was talking about her daughter.
“There’s nothing I can’t do.” Bada finally said respectfully. “I would simply need a meeting, and I’m sure I can find someone fit for your daughter.”
“I’ll leave it in your hands then.” Declared the middle aged woman as she stood, leaving the contact information of her daughter on the table.
Bada bowed a last time, feeling slightly uneasy about what was coming.
.

.
You laughed loudly as you received a text from your mother saying that she enrolled you in a matchmaking program. You couldn’t believe it, she had actually lost her mind. How dare she put her nose in her daughter's private life like this ?
A few days after this text, you had received an email from “HeartSync” and you assumed it was this matchmaking program your mother was talking about. The mail mentioned a meeting but you didn’t bother reading it entirely and to be polite, you answered simply that you were busy with no time for a meeting. You thought that would be enough but, oh, how wrong were you.
The following day, you received a mail destined to you at your workplace but when you realized where it was coming from you simply tore it apart before throwing it in the trash, not thinking much about it.
It lasted a week. For a whole week, you received mails and letters, always more persistent than the preceding one. It felt like you needed to get a restraining order against this HeartSync company. But at least you were only receiving letters that could be thrown or deleted quickly so you didn’t care that much.
You wanted to slap yourself just for thinking that because you just had brought the worst luck upon yourself.
The following week, while you were working in your office on the floor above the showroom you own, your assistant walked in. For a second, you thought that she was bringing another letter but that was before she opened her mouth :
“Someone is waiting outside and she is saying that you two have to talk. Should I let her in ?”
“Is she someone I know?” You asked instead of answering.
“I don’t think so.” She said after pondering for a second.
You hummed, thinking before allowing your assistant to open the door. If it was someone dangerous then the bodyguard standing outside of your office would step in within a second.
Your assistant nodded before getting out, probably to tell the woman outside to come in. As the door opened a second time, it was not your assistant who entered but a woman who had a slender body and was wearing a nice and fitting black suit. Her hair was black with some hidden blonde hair under the top layer of strands. She was pretty, you thought. But the minute you saw her smile, you changed your mind, she was actually gorgeous even though there was something unsettling about that smile but you simply couldn’t point it out.
With as much respect you could gather, you invite her to sit on the chair in front of your desk.
Bada looked at you up and down, taking notice of your clean and elegant look that she could guess was a Chanel tweed jacket. You seemed to be quite a glamorous and well put together lady which surprised Bada, still having in mind the words that your mother used to describe you.
“My name is Lee Bada.” She said after realizing the silence. “I am the CEO of HeartSync, perhaps you have heard through all the mails that have been sent recently.”
Your smile completely fell off. Of course, she was sent here by your mom. You signed, slightly massaging your temples, suddenly feeling exhausted.
“I don’t think I need to guide you to the door.” You said coldly.
“I guess marriage is a sensitive topic for you. It’s okay, I’ve met a lot of people like you.” Claimed Bada.
“Oh ? And did you invade their workplace with importunate mails too ?” You snickered.
Bada’s smile stayed unwavering but the hand on her thigh clenched slightly. “Well… It must have been quite bothersome and I apologize for that. However, I was simply doing the task that had been assigned by your mother. She really hoped that you could find a good partner and I’m here to help you with that.”
“You misunderstood something.” You answered her. “She doesn’t care if whoever I’m going to marry is a good person or not, she wants wealth and she’s tired of me tarnishing her reputation, that’s why she wants me to find a husband. Unfortunately for her, I couldn’t care less about what she wanted. And you, you’re a monster enriching yourself off of people’s desperation. I know exactly how your little business works. Personally? Good partner? You’re just creating couples with the same social status. Everything is about gaining more money and I’m not interested in that.”
Bada wouldn’t say that you were wrong. Actually, you were absolutely right. Bada’s job could be quite awful and she knew that what she was doing was more of a business contract than genuine love but how could you blame her, the matchmaking industry was giving her so much profit.
“Your mother thought that you would say that.” Eventually said Bada. “And she gave me a list of insults and threats to use to convince you.” She laughed a little. “However, that’s not really how I work. I want what is the best for my clients. It is true that a wedding is a way of improving wealth but what we prioritize is the human relationship. Allowing a matchmaking company to do the work will help you save time in your research. ”
What she said sounded like a business proposal and it was boring you to death.
“It is also important to say that we won’t throw you into a date so abruptly. Every month, we organized social gatherings for single people. Most of the time, the parents are present which helps us create bonds among the family and set up the future dates with the potential match approved by the family.”
This, however, peaked your attention. Your mom would be present at this social gathering? You tried to hide your mischievous smile as you quickly straightened your back.
“Wow ! Perhaps I misjudged your matchmaking company or whatever. When would that social gathering be held?” You asked.
“This weekend.” She replied.
“I see. Then I will see you there.” You responded, standing up, forcing Bada to stand up too, by politeness. You took her hand into yours, shaking it, making her spurt out a surprised noise. “It was a pleasure meeting you.”
And after you shoved her outside, making her completely overtaken by the situation but if her convicting speech actually worked then she could go back to work, the mind appeased. Little did she know that everything would go downhill this weekend because of you.
.
.
.
Bada spent the last few days working on this social gathering. Food, decorations, people. Everything had to be perfect for Mrs. Shin. It was a chance that she couldn’t let pass. If she managed to have the Shin family on her success list then everyone would rush to her company. It was her chance to become bigger and to destroy all competition.
She was glad the description that Mrs. Shin had made was completely wrong. Her daughter was everything but a debauched woman. You owned a showroom that was the place a lot of high end women were spending their time and money. You were really elegant but eventually, she noticed that you and your mother had the same witty attitude. But nothing was impossible for Bada, she was going to find the perfect man for you.
When the day finally came, Bada was feeling way more stressed than she ever had. Her hands were sweaty and she tried her best not to wipe them on her dress. For now, she looked quite put together with her black silk dress.
The room was already full of people but Mrs. Shin and her mother were nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they had found someone else? She thought. Was her service not good enough? Where had she messed up ? Perhaps you didn’t like how she talked to you the other day? She tried not to show her nervousness by greeting all the people present.
Fortunately, she saw the face of Mrs. Shin after an hour and she rushed to greet Mrs. Shin but she halted after taking a look at her face. She looked really displeased and Bada wasn’t sure what had angered her, but looking nervous couldn’t be an option and because of that, she walked up to her, bowing respectfully.
“I’m glad to see you here.” Said Bada, looking around, a little bit confused. “But where is your daughter?”
“She’s coming.” She snarled.
And coming, you were. You walked in like you owned the place and Bada should be offended by that, because she was the one actually owning the place. But how could she, when she was so captivated by your looks. You were radiating confidence, which she was not in that moment, making her feel self conscious about herself. While she was pretending to have it, you were not acting. However, her awe quickly disappeared when she realized why your mother was making that face. You were wearing a black dress, a really pretty dress but also a very short one, clearly not the type of dress you were expecting to see in a high end social gathering where sophistication was required. The dress had a lace corset integrated that made your bust parts see through. It was indecent. That was the only word that could describe this outfit.
She walked up to her mom, standing right behind her to bow slightly at you but on your face, no sign of respect could be seen.
“It’s a pleasure meeting you again,hm…” she started, trailing off at the end of her sentence.
“Lee Bada.” Reminded the matchmaker.
“Yes ! That’s your name.” You giggled, knowing it would annoy your mother. And you were right, you felt her glare piercing your skin. You looked elsewhere to hide your smile and you noticed something interesting. “Well if you’ll excuse me, I would love to go around and say hi.”
Bada looked pleased to know that you were going to get involved in this social gathering however, your mother was frowning her eyebrows like she knew your polite act was nothing but a facade.
You saw someone in the distance that you recognised right away and quickly excused yourself to go stand by his side, knowing that it would surprise him.
“ Are you looking for a wife?” You asked from behind and when he turned around, his dull eyes suddenly sparkled.
“No fucking way, you’re here too ?” Replied Wonbin, a smile on his lips.
“Unfortunately.” You answered, standing next to him. “But it’s more surprising to see you here. How did your parents convince you?”
“They said that if I didn’t come, they would make me go back to their house to live with them.” Sighed Wonbin.
“I’m so glad my mom has not resorted to that yet. That’s the most terrifying threat ever.”
Wonbin could only nod in agreement. He wishes he was like and could find a way to emancipate himself from his family but starting business was not as easy as it used to be. Until now, he had been forced to live off his family allowance and it was hell. Seeing you here was the best gift the universe could offer.
“But why are you here?” He asked after pondering. “It’s not like your mother has something she can use against you since you’re totally independent from her.”
“I’m not here to look for a husband,”you answered truthfully. “I want to make sure my mom will never pay a matchmaker for me.”
Wonbin seemed hooked by what you just said and you two started a conversation about how parents should leave their adult children alone and not force them to get married.
Bada looked at you two from afar and she couldn’t be happier. If you managed to sympathize with someone, it meant that this event was a total success. The stress finally left her body for a few minutes but of course, something had to go wrong.
Bada felt a presence in her back and she quickly turned around to find Mrs. Shin with a scowl on her face.
“Stop these two from talking.” She growled.
“Hm…why ?” Asked Bada, since she couldn’t understand what was wrong.
“That’s one of her friends.” She responded, annoyed. “It’s one of her drinking partners. I refuse for them to be seen together. It will just destroy her image even more. Keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid.”
Bada quickly understood and she walked up to you, clasping her hands together.
Coming back to you. You were still talking vividly with Wonbin, letting him keep you up with the recent gossip.
“You know who else has been dragged here ?” He asked with a playful smile.
“Don’t make me guess. Tell me.” You declared, frowning a little.
“Well… first it seems that you two had the same dress code because she’s wearing a really sluty dress too.”
You pondered for a while, trying to think of which one of your friends had as horrible parents as you and Wonbin. But you didn’t have time to actually get the answers out of Wonbin because you felt someone coming to your side.
Lee Bada was here, wearing her usual smile. “Mr. Park, if you will excuse us. There’s some people who would like to meet Ms. Shin.”
You faked a whine, looking at Wonbin with pleading eyes and he answered by lifting his hand, reaching for you but you were too far. Once you guys were done with your dramatic act, you turned to Bada who was still smiling at you. You had to lift your head a little to make sure you were looking at the woman in her eyes since she was at least a head taller than you.
You finally realised why Bada was so unsettling for you. It was a customer smile and they were actually nothing genuine about it. Bada’s smile was as fake as the relationship she was creating. She was not different from the other rich people in your life. You still followed her to where she was bringing you and of course, you walked up to some insignificant man who was only looking at your breast.
This conversation was the most boring thing you had done this evening. After the mas started to talk about his income, you completely stopped responding, letting Bada, who didn’t seem to want to leave your side, filling up the gaps.
After fifteen minutes of hell, you noticed someone with a really short red dress walking in front of you and winking at you. It pass unnoticed by the two talking in front of you but you noticed it right away.
“Im going to the bathroom.” You murmured in Bada’s ear before going immediately not letting her stopping you.
Bada left her gaze lingering on you before going back to her boring conversation with this guy (she had already forgot his name).
You entered the bathroom, full of people, and went ponding right away on one of the stalls doors where you could see shoes that you recognised. The women in the bathroom quickly walked away, outraged by such a display of rudeness.
You didn’t care and when the door unlocked and you saw the woman who had walked in front of you earlier, you smiled. At first Wonyoung looked pissed but when she realised who it was, she giggled, reassured.
“You have no manners.” She exhaled, walking past you to the sink and washing her hands. You watched as Wonyoung dried her hands and then proceeded to apply a new layer of lipstick. Making sure that no one was watching, you got something out of your bag and when Wonyoung noticed what it was, her eyes widened. “Are you suicidal? Why do you have that here?”
She tried to take what eas in your hands but you were quicker, moving the little plastic bag to your other hand.
“Don’t you want to have a little party with me?” You asked, feeling playful and agitating the little container.
“You’re not serious right now?” She huffed.
“I’m dead serious but I’m not crazy enough to do weed in this public place.” You said putting the weed sack in your bag. “However, when we’ll be out of here, you, Wonbin and me…” you said, letting the end of your sentence unsaid, knowing that she would immediately understand.
“You don’t know how much I would love that.” She mumbled. “But my parents are here and I can’t go anywhere untill I have a wedding contract or something.” She said, apologetically.
“Don’t worry. I have a plan.”
She tilted her head in confusion and you approached your mouth near her ear to murmur something that made her giggle immediately.
“Let’s do that !”she exclaimed, already exiting the bathroom, feeling excited. You walked behind her, letting your gaze admiring her dress that was completely in lace. “Stop looking at my ass.” She said like she could see you.
“I can’t help it, your dress is even shorter than mine.” You uttered in awe which makes her laugh.
As you got back in the main hall, you immediately went to the bar where everyone could see you. You walked past your mother and Bada who was probably blaming the young woman who had letting you escape. You almost felt bad for what you were about to do to her. Almost. It’s not like Bada cared about you that much, you were sure it wouldn’t hurt her.
“Hm… I think we need to grab everyone attention.” You whispered to Wonyoung.
“Don’t worry. I got it.” She whispered back.
She looked at the bar behind her and she then dropped a tray of glasses on the floor, which resonated loudly in the room making everyone look in this way. She didn’t loose a second, she quickly grabbed your cheek before kissing you passionately. It didn’t even catch you off guard since you had planned that, you kissed her back with as much passion you could gather.
Shocked gasps quickly filled the room and even the classical music stopped playing. Everyone was looking at the two women kissing, offended by such an act. It seemed that only Wonbin was appreciating the show, sipping slowly his champagne.
Your mom was the first to move, wanting to separate you two quickly and save a little bit of her reputation but Bada had longer leg and she grabbed your arm quicker. She was dragging you outside, you realised.
“I’ll see you tonight, my love !” You shouted at Wonyoung.
“I already miss your lips !” She screamed back, laughing. You saw her giving a head tilt to Wonbin who answered with a thumbs up.
You were before the exiting doors and finally Bada let go of your arm, violently.
“What the fuck.” She muttered but you heard it and it made you snicker. So this woman wasn’t as stiff as she pretended to be. “W-why would you that ?” She asked in desbelief.
“Do what?” You responded, innocently.
“You know !” She shouted, her cheeks red, clearly embarrassed to say that out loud. “I thought you agreed to come here. I thought it was okay.”
“Then you’re probably stupider than you look.” You claimed, smiling.
“Excuse me?” She huffed, clearly offended by your words but she didn’t have time to retort anything since your mon emerged from the hall, looking angrier than usual.
Your mother looked at you with such a disappointed and disdain look that you almost felt bad. Almost and then you remembered that you mom insisted on you being here and she bro that on herself.
She sighed, she wanted to scream at you but you were still in public and looking at you disgusted her so much. She just decided to give up.
“Just go.” She declared and you cheered loudly, making her even more angry but you didn’t care, you were finally free.
You quickly exited the place, leaving the two women alone.
As soon as Mrs. Shin gaze met Bada’s, the young woman bowed trembling.
“I deeply apologise…” she whispered but she was quickly cut off.
“No need. I shouldn’t have trusted you to do the impossible. You’re pathetic company has way more fame than needed. I was fooled by everyone’s opinion, you’re just another new money person thinking you can scam the high end world. Let me tell you something, with my words, I give you a week before you go bankrupt.”
Bada took a little time to process the threat and she realised how much those words coukd
impact her. She quickly readjusted herself and grappled Mrs. Shin hands, who, disguised, freed herself immediately.
“Please give me another chance ! I did a mistake but it won’t happen anymore.” Shouted Bada but Mrs. Shin wasn’t listening and made her way to the exit. “Please give me a month ! Just a month and you daughter will be married.”
This, however, grabbed her attention. She turned around, letting her cold gaze meeting Bada’s pleading eyes.
“You’ll find her a husband ?” She asked.
“I manage a marital company. It’s my job to create marriage.”
Mrs. Shin let the offer pondering in her mind before nodding, giving Bada a last chance.
“You have a month.” She reminded the woman.
“I won’t disappoint you.” She murmured, closing her eyes, feeling reassured.

Now I'm curious cause of your tag. What did Swedish media say about the eurovision thing?
Oof yeah, here's a post detailing it ... here another... Basically they've absolutely flipped over the fact that Finnish public didn't give Loreen points at all (which I find absolutely hilarious) and suddenly started wielding such rhetoric as "the former eastern part of our kingdom" referring to Finland, which is???? like??? do I even need to say how Not Okay that is?
It might seem to some that the Finnish people are reacting to Sweden's (unfair) win and them being sore winners (which, points to them, I didn't know was possible!) with too much drama, but it's all tied to our history together. Finland has traditionally seen itself, and has been seen by other countries (Sweden included) as the sort of "little brother" to the more advanced, better-faring, glorious Sweden. While Sweden to my knowledge doesn't much care about what Finland gets up to (perhaps overlooking/ignoring us and our merits), Finland is always comparing itself to Sweden and trying to live up to it. It's a very common rhetoric and sort of, the atmosphere over here. We know more about Sweden than Sweden knows about us; we're constantly conscious that Sweden exists. Sweden gets talked about in international news; Finland, if mentioned, is often tied to - you guessed it - being Sweden's neighboring country.
We used to be part of Sweden for 600 years. During that time, Swedish was implemented as the language of the culture and the "civilised" whereas the finns living in the eAstErn pArT oF tHe kiNgDoM were seen as "wild" and "uncivilised" and just, generally a lesser people to the Swedish speaking population. We haven't been under Sweden's rule for some 200 years and STILL we can't seem to shake their influence on us. Swedish is still a mandatory language to learn at school (and I have many opinions on that, but that'd be another post). Finnish as a language has been disregarded for its whole existence. Our leading national thinkers and poets in the 19th century, who were the first ones to really push for the Finnish identity instead of us seeing ourselves as part of Sweden or Russia, wrote in Swedish. The first novel in Finnish was published in 1870.
So this is monumental to us, to have the whole word watching Finland and not Sweden. Finland has a lot of merits, especially considering how small a people we are (just 5,5mil). To have a song in our language, in Finnish be this popular, is something we couldn't have imagined. We as a people are humble to the extreme, so much that we might easily scorn anyone who is too successful (not a good thing!), and this is the first time in my life that I'm seeing the whole country rally behind someone like this. When we say "Our Jere" we mean it with our whole hearts. We're so so proud of him, everyone is, and for once Finnish people seem to think in unison that someone deserves all the praise and the success.
SO, to have Sweden in this UNIQUE moment of Finland raising its head and being "we're so amazing", with the rest of Europe going "yes you're so amazing!!", spew rhetoric like this, is just, unbelievable to me. Like I can't just believe that in the 21st century there are people in Sweden who hold up 200 year old thought patterns of our country. It's been shocking 'cos though there's always been rivalry, it's felt more... tongue in cheek. We "love to hate" Sweden over here. It's been "I hate Sweden (affectionate)". But now we find this unbelievably condescending and belittling attitude towards us raising its head, and we wonder, we thought we two were okay?? But have they always held these beliefs???
So there's a sense of betrayal in the air as well. And just, full on disbelief. And maybe we're starting to see that it has been like this all along, but we've decided to turn a blind eye to it? True colours shining through? Perhaps not... but yeah.
Sweden not looking good here!
(here's one more post that says the same that i did but was better at making it SHORT oops)

As you stared into Quinn's eyes, under the flurolenst lights of the parking lot, you knew that it was over. The distant hum of traffic and the occasional flicker of the overhead lights were the only sounds breaking the stillness of the night.
Quinn's expression mirrored your own; a mixture of sadness, resignation, and regret etched across his features. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something, but the words remained trapped, unspoken, as if even he couldn't find the right ones to mend what had been broken.
In the quiet of that desolate parking lot, you prayed, as you hadn't in a long time, for Quinn to say something, anything, that could mend the gaping rift between you. The silence between you two was deafening, heavy with the weight of unspoken words, unfulfilled promises, and a shared recognition of the inevitable.
As you stared into his eyes, his beautiful eyes, the eyes that still somehow showed admiration, you knew that this was the end. And in the depth of that painful realization, you also knew that, somehow, it was for the better. The love that had once bound you both was still there, but it had transformed into something unrecognizable, something that no longer served the happiness you both deserved.
──
ONE YEAR AGO
──
"You come here often?" were the first words that came from the unknown beautiful man's lips. The beautiful stranger's confidence and charming smile were hard to ignore, and his well-worn pick-up line had almost made you laugh.
You had experienced countless encounters with men using the same old pick-up line, wearing that familiar confident grin, and creating a typical atmosphere. Yet, there was something about this particular interaction that stood out.
You responded with a gentle smile, shaking your head in acknowledgement. "No, I just moved here." Well, that wasn't exactly true ─ you had lived here almost a year now but you were still new.
The corners of the beautiful stranger's lips curled up even further as he chuckled at your response. "Well, that explains why I haven't seen you around," he said, his voice carrying a playful undertone.
He kept turning around with a smirk and you noticed his group of friends and you suddenly understood what exactly what was happening ─ he was trying to prove something to his friends or win some kind of bet.
Sure, you first found his charming approach somewhat appealing, the growing suspicion that this might be part of a playful dare or a friendly challenge from his friends left you feeling intrigued and slightly amused. Nevertheless, you decided to go along with it, maintaining a friendly smile, eager to see where this interaction was headed.
He glanced over at his friends once more, who were now watching the two of you with amused expressions. It was becoming increasingly clear that this was more than just a chance encounter.
You decided to keep the conversation fun, playing along with his playful undertone. "I guess I've been flying under the radar," you replied with a grin. "But now that you've found me, what's your next move, mystery man?"
He laughed at the nickname before he leaned in closer, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret, playfully. "Well, I could offer you a drink and continue this intriguing conversation, or I could simply disappear back into the crowd, leaving you with the mystery."
"I like mysteries," you replied with a flirty undertone. Now this was something new ─ he was actually engaging which made you even more interested. "I'm Y/N."
"Quinn," he responded and extended his hand with the same smirk he's had on the entire night. "Quinn Hughes," he repeated, emphasizing his name in a way that made it clear he wanted you to know it.
"Good to meet you, Quinn Hughes." You replied playfully. "Now, where's my drink?"
Quinn's grin widened as he held onto your hand for an extra second, making sure you knew he appreciated the introduction. "The pleasure's all mine, Y/N," he said with a wink before releasing your hand. "What are you like feeling tonight?"
"Bellini, please."
He looked at the bartender who was cleaning the glasses and nodded his head, "Two Bellini's, please."
The bartender soon returned with two frosty Bellinis, each garnished with a sweet slices of peach. You took a sip and savored the fruity and bubbly flavors.
"Cheers," you said, raising your glass to Quinn. "To unexpected encounters and intriguing mysteries."
Quinn clinked his glass against yours, his eyes locked onto yours. "To new beginnings and unforgettable nights," he added, his tone suggestive.
──
What started as a one-night stand quickly became something more. Nights spent together soon became a weekly thing that excited the both of you. Quinn found himself smiling at mere thought of your presence, and that was when he knew it was over for him.
Sweet words exchanged as you fell asleep together, talking about your dreams and hopes, your worst fears and nightmares, building something that could only be described as perfect. Everything that you had ever wanted was Quinn.
He was a gentlemen, he opened doors and made sure you got home safe. He gave you forehead kisses, treated you like a princess, paid for everything and respected your boundaries.
But nothing is meant to last forever.
"You told me you blocked her!" You yelled in frustration as you threw the phone on the bed.
Quinn's face flushed with anger, his eyes narrowing as he retorted, "Well, what about you, Y/N? You promised me you'd stop bringing up the past every time we argue!"
Your anger flared in response as you threw your head back in anger. "This isn't about the past, Quinn. This is about you lying to me!"
He clenched his fists, his voice rising with fury. "And what about your constant need to control everything, to question every little thing I do? It's suffocating!"
The room seemed to crackle with tension as the argument escalated. Voices raised, accusations flying, both of you venting the pent-up frustration that had been building over time. It was a clash of emotions, a heated exchange that left no room for compromise.
Quinn's face was red with anger as his usual calm demeanor broke, his voice laced with frustration. "You never trust me, Y/N! It's like you're always waiting for me to mess up, to prove that I'm not good enough for you."
Your own anger burned hotly, and you shot back, "Maybe if you didn't lie to me, I wouldn't have reason to doubt you!"
"Lie to you? Y/N, come on, I never said-"
"Don't you try and twist your words, Quinn!" you interrupted him, your voice sharp and accusing. The hurt and anger in your eyes were unmistakable as you continued, "I saw the messages, Quinn. Don't insult my intelligence by denying it."
Quinn's jaw clenched as he realized there was no way out of this argument. His own anger surged, and he retorted, "Fine, I lied about blocking her, but it's not what you think."
Your heart broke truly for the first time that night as he said those words. Your lip trembled as you continued, "Then what is it, Quinn? Why couldn't you just be honest with me?"
He let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair. "I didn't want to upset you, okay? I knew how much it bothered you, and I thought I could handle it on my own."
Your anger began to mix with a sense of betrayal. "So, you thought it was better to lie to my face instead of talking to me about it? Is that how you see our relationship?"
Quinn's shoulders slumped, realizing the gravity of his mistake. "No, Y/N, that's not what I meant. I messed up, and I'm sorry."
Silence enveloped the room, heavy and suffocating, as you sat back down on the bed. The tears you had been holding back finally began to flow, tracing a path down your cheeks. The pain and betrayal in your heart were almost too much to bear.
You felt Quinn's presence beside you on the bed, his touch warm on your shoulder. His voice was filled with regret, and you could sense the genuine concern in his words.
"Wait, baby, please don't cry," he implored, his voice soft and tender. He moved closer, his arms encircling you in a gentle embrace. You laced your arms around his waist as you let the tears freely fall.
Despite the anger and hurt that still lingered, you couldn't help but feel safe in his comforting touch. His embrace offered a sense of solace, a reminder of the love you share.
"I'll block her, okay?" He hummed softly as your cries paused and you nodded in his arms. "I'll block her," he kissed your head as he mumbled those words.
Those weren't the last lies you both would ever mutter. More lies would follow, weaving a tangled web of deceit between you both.
──
You had never been one to care, before Quinn. It was always one after the other, leaving no room to heal. No one had ever taken you like Quinn, no ever felt Quinn. He was one in a million, he was your equal.
Maybe that was the problem, he was too much like you. You should've known it was a bad idea once you realized how similar you two were. You were both fiercely independent, with strong-willed personalities and a desire for control over your lives. While these traits had drawn you together in the beginning, also fueled moments of conflict and clashes of wills.
Perhaps it was the old adage of "too much of a good thing." The intense passion and stubbornness that had drawn you together now threatened to tear you apart.
Arguments that once seemed passionate now felt exhausting, and you found yourselves butting heads more often than not. Quinn's stubbornness mirrored your own, and instead of compromising, you often clashed fiercely over minor disagreements.
Amidst the commotion, you couldn't deny the depth of your feelings for Quinn. He was, and would always be, the love of your life. You realized that love was not about finding someone without flaws, but rather finding someone whose flaws you could accept and embrace. Quinn was not perfect, and neither were you, but together, you were something good, something worth fighting for. Something good was something that was hard to find nowadays, and something you had never experienced, something that you now relished in.
So, you made a choice. You chose to ignore the problems, at least for the time being. It wasn't the healthiest decision, and deep down, you knew it. But the love you felt for Quinn was powerful, and you were willing to overlook the cracks in your relationship, hoping they would somehow heal on their own.
Now, in hindsight, you realized it wasn't the best choice.
"Jesus, Y/N! Give me some room, I just won the best game of my life and the only you wanna talk about is something you heard from someone you know is a shit-talker, Y/N." Quinn shouted as he walked away from you, into the kitchen. It was obvious he was avoiding the topic, you'd try to bring it up multiple times but now you just wanted answered.
Your frustration boiled over as you followed him, your voice sharper now. "Quinn," you snapped, "this is important, and you can't keep brushing it aside like it doesn't matter. We can't keep avoiding our issues."
"There aren't any issues, you're making them out of thin air Y/N." He replied sharply as he opened the fridge. "Fuck, I lost my appetite. Thanks, baby." The sweet pet-name sounded like an insult now as he glared at you.
His dismissive attitude only fueled your anger further. You couldn't let him brush this off any longer. "Quinn," you said firmly, "I'm not making this up, okay, this is just something that has bothered me from the beginning and I can't keep trying to ignore it. I want you to be honest with me."
Quinn let out an angry groan as he slammed the fridge making you jump as you leaned back from him. He noticed the change in atmosphere and he sighed. Tonight was supposed to be about celebrating his win and now it just felt like another night where you two fought.
He slammed the fridge door shut, his frustration boiling over. "You want honesty? Fine. I'm tired of you constantly questioning me, doubting my every move. It's suffocating, Y/N!"
"Quinn, what happened the first night we met?"
That statement made his face pale. Quinn shifted uncomfortably, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape from the conversation. The air grew heavy with the weight of unspoken words, and for a moment, it seemed like he might try to evade the question.
But then, with a resigned sigh, he finally relented. "Fine, let's talk about it." He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture of nervousness that you had come to recognize. "It was a stupid bet, okay? My friends dared me to approach a beautiful girl like you and get your number."
Your heart sank as the truth spilled out. It confirmed your suspicions, but hearing it from him still stung. "No, but there's more. What about her?"
He knew who was "her" was, as he swallowed.
Quinn's discomfort was palpable as he reluctantly began to share more about that fateful night. "It wasn't just the bet," he admitted, his voice filled with regret. "There was this girl, one of my friends' exes. She was there that night, and she dared me to take things a step further."
Your heart sank even further, a mix of anger and hurt bubbling up. "You slept with me because she told me to?"
He nodded, unable to meet your gaze. "Yeah, I did. I'm so sorry, Y/N. I should've been honest from the beginning, but I was stupid, and I wanted to impress her."
The room seemed to close in around you as Quinn's confession hung in the air. It was a heavy blow, and your emotions swirled in turmoil. The pain of betrayal and humiliation washed over you, making it hard to find words.
"You used me," you finally choked out, your voice trembling with a mix of anger and sadness. He tried to touch your hand but you moved it, "Don't touch me."
And now it all made sense, the texting, him insisting she was blocked (when you knew she wasn't), the glances back from his friends on the night you met. It all clicked, like a switch.
But as you looked back at him, it hit you like a truck. Your sweet boyfriend, the whole foundation of your relationship had been because of a bet and an ex. "You still talk to her?"
The silence answered your question and you felt your stomach turn in disgust. The room felt suffocating, and you couldn't bear to stay there any longer. Pushing past Quinn, you rushed out of the kitchen, the weight of the revelation heavy on your shoulders.
──
You and Quinn faced each other as you both laid in bed, smiles hanging on your lips as you exchanged sweet whispers of "forever."
The room was bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight streaming through the curtains. It felt like a moment suspended in time, where the worries of the past and the uncertainties of the future faded away.
Quinn gently brushed a strand of hair from your face, his soft eyes filled with tenderness. "I love you, Y/N."
Your heart swelled with affection, and you caressed his cheek with your fingertips. "I love you too, Quinn."
As you lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, you both knew that the path ahead wasn't easy. But for now, in that moment, you held onto the hope that love would prevail, and your story would continue, marked by its ups and downs, but bound together by a love that refused to fade.
──
Forever was the sweetest con. Promises of the best future were mere phrases, no literal meaning behind them.
In the midst of that silence, you could almost hear the echoes of all the beautiful moments you had shared with Quinn. The laughter, the whispered promises, the warmth of his embrace – they all seemed like distant memories now, fading into the abyss of what could have been.
Finally, Quinn's lips moved, and he let out a heavy sigh. "Y/N," he began, his voice tinged with sadness, "I wish things could have been different. I never wanted to hurt you like this."
Your throat tightened, and you fought to keep your composure. "I know, Quinn," you whispered, your voice trembling. "It's just too late to fix what's broken."
The words hung heavily in the air, a painful acknowledgment of the damage that had been done. You both knew that there was no turning back, no magic words that could erase the pain and mistrust that now defined your relationship.
The pain of parting was excruciating as you took a step back from each other, the unspoken love still lingered in the space between you. It was a love that would forever remain a bittersweet memory, a chapter in your lives that had come to an end.
With one final, longing look, you turned away from Quinn and walked towards your separate futures, leaving behind the shattered remnants of a love that had once felt like forever.
You would never love again, not like you did with Quinn. No would ever make you laugh like he did, or touch you like he did, or make you cry like he did. And maybe in some way, that was a good thing.
Maybe, in time, you would discover new forms of love, different from what you had known before. You didn't know if you even wanted that, you just wanted what you once had with Quinn, before any of the shit hit the fan. At the same time you knew you were destined for failure the moment he had come up to you at that shitty bar, the foundation was destined to break into a million pieces for you to pick up.
Maybe, in some other universe, it would've worked out. Quinn would've come up to you willingly and bought you a bellini and maybe, he wouldn't have been so hung up on his ex. And then, your promises would've been fulfilled; the big house in Michigan, with two dogs and a big family and an even bigger heart. Two boys and two girls, like he'd promised. So that the son had a brother, and the daughter had a sister, just like the both of you had.
It was a beautiful vision of what could have been, a dream woven with the threads of love and real commitment. And maybe, in this reality or another, there were still beautiful moments and dreams waiting to unfold and that brought you some kind of peace.

tender | chris sturniolo x fem!reader
request: ""i love you." "what?" "i love you and it terrifies me." with chris s? tyyy!!" from anonymous
description: after having a conversation with y/n, chris reveals his feelings.
trigger warnings: mentions of anxiety, subtle angst, mostly fluff, foul language, etc.
word count: <1k
"Did you seriously have to say that in front of all those people?" You laughed as you and Chris both slipped through the exit doorway of a convenience store. The air was brisk and caused the skin on your face to tighten. As you released breaths, it appeared like smoke in the cool atmosphere.
"Hey, it wasn't on purpose!" Chris giggled as the two of you held the paper bags of snacks you had gotten for the triplets, since they'd be filming one of their car videos later that night. "My voice just carries!" He continued laughing.
"Yeah, whatever," You rolled your eyes as soft chuckles began to escape your mouth.
"Before we head back home, do you wanna head to the lake for a little while? I know you haven't seen much around here, so.." Chris trailed off as you began to smile.
"Sure," You nodded as the two of you walked along the paved sidewalk. The store wasn't far from their house in Boston, so you decided on walking and Chris reassured you that the lake wasn't far.
.
Along the side of a back road, sat a babbling brook that ran through the trees. It was a gentle scene with doves mourning in song and bees buzzing in the air. It looked as though it was a scene written out of a book or from a movie. You smiled at the way the water danced across the rocks poking out from under the shallow parts.
"I wouldn't have expected such a beautiful place around here," You admitted.
"Me either," Chris pressed his lips together as he admired the way you observed everything.
"It's so green," You released in a breath.
There was a rusty old bench that sat right before the water and you ushered Chris to follow you towards it. He obliged and took a seat with you on it, after you did. It was small so you were fairly close to one another.
"It smells like spring, like.. you know when the grass is freshly cut and stuff," Your pupils dilated as you watched the water. It settled your mind and for a mere second you had forgotten about all your anxieties and all the tasks you knew you needed to get done.
Chris sniffed as he had his eyes on your profile, it took you a bit of time to take note of his staring.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" You furrowed your brow.
He laughed nervous, "Nothing."
"How'd you find this place?" You asked, curiously.
"Nick likes to come here a lot," He replied. You nodded with a soft smile and turned your head back to watch the water.
There was stillness for a while. The only sound came from the gurgling water.
"Y/N," Chris started and you turned your head to face him.
"Yeah?" You asked, your gaze was relaxed.
"I think I.." He trailed off, trying to figure out how to piece his words together with great care.
"You what?" You urged.
He swallowed a lump that built in his throat and stared at you, "I love you."
It came so suddenly and you didn't know how to react, "What?"
Chris released a breath, "I love you and it terrifies me. I haven't ever done or felt any of this before and it's always been because I've been so scared an' shit. But every time I try to push down these feelings, they always come back up, no matter how hard I try to push them away. It's like a cursed boomerang."
You chuckled lightly and stared at him with a warm gaze.
"I guess I'm just scared of what this could do to you and me if we don't work out. I love being your friend, but I also hate seeing other people look at you the way I do," He spoke softly.
"How long?" You questioned.
"What?"
"How long have you felt like this?"
Chris thought for a moment, staring into the distance, "I met you two years ago, right?" You nodded and he continued, "Two years. I guess the only thing that's been keeping me from telling you is–"
"I love you too," You interrupted with a soft growing smile. Chris was shocked and said nothing, his lips parted gently as you leaned over to implant a kiss to his cold skin.
After you pulled back slightly, Chris stared at you, "This is crazy."
"I know," You nodded, "But it'll be okay. We'll be okay. I promise."
.
a/n: hi angels!! thank you so much for this request! it definitely gave me a new challenge because in all honesty i was super unsure of how to execute this properly. based on how chris comes across, i've always gotten the vibe that he's terrified of commitment and being in a relationship in general, which is totally normal for a lot of people and i hope this piece captured that well enough! thank you so much for 1k once again!! i love you all so dearly. — angelina.

Singer! Reader x Older! Eddie, she sings at the Hideout, and Eddie goes there every weekend, and they met, and they fall for each other and start dating (I was listening to For K part 2, and this came to my mind, if you could write something like this request but better pls do it, love your work! 🩷)
I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy reading. Thank you for requesting <3
The singer
Tumblr media
Eddie always looked forward to the weekends. It was his time to sleep in, do nothing, and go to the bar. Eddie was a known regular at the hideout, his band used to play on the weekends when he was in high school. He liked the alcohol, the atmosphere, and the girl he couldn't take his eyes off.
Y/N was a local singer who performed every weekend at the hideout. One night she showed up and Eddie hasn't forgotten her since. After her sets, she'll come down, buy a drink, and sit at Eddie's table. They talk until the bar has to close. There was something about her that Eddie was connected to.
He wanted to ask her out more than anything, but he was scared she wouldn't be interested. Sure, they flirted a lot, but he wasn't sure if the age gap would be a breaker for her or not. He didn't want to lose what they had. But he wanted more. He wasn't sure where she was at with her life, and if she wanted a serious relationship so young.
Eddie sipped on his beer as he watched her perform. As always, she looked gorgeous and sounded amazing. It was nearing the end of her set, and Eddie was nervous. He told himself he was going to ask her out tonight.
"This one is a new song, I've recently fallen for someone and this is for him."
Eddie felt all his confidence sink, she fell for someone? Eddie listened closely to the song dedicated to this new guy. But then he got lost in his thoughts, and he hated how in love she sounded.
"Thank you, guys." She announced as she left the stage.
Eddie sulked in his seat as he ordered another beer. He took too long and now his chance is gone. This new guy was probably young, someone she met at a bar or club. They probably liked the same things since they were so close in age.
"Guess who." Eddie's eyes were covered as a familiar perfume filled his nose. The sweet sound of her voice against his ear, he felt himself shudder.
"The next top model?" He teased, laughing as she scoffed in his ear and took the seat next to him. She was sweaty and her hair was thrown up. Her neck and chest glistened as she ordered a drink. It took everything in Eddie to avert his eyes.
They sat in a small amount of silence. Y/N felt nervous as he hadn't said a word about her song. She made it obvious it was about him. Maybe she was too forward?
She awkwardly coughed as she sipped on her drink. Eddie fought in his head if he should say something or not.
"Did you like the song?" She asked, looking at him as she watched him.
"Yeah, it was nice. Sounds like a lucky guy." Eddie smiled, but he sounded more mad than he intended.
Y/N picked up on his negative energy. He almost sounded bitter and jealous.
"Could you tell who it was about?"
"A guy you met at a bar?" Eddie guessed.
"Yeah...the one across from me." She said shyly, her eyes back on her drink.
Eddie felt himself smiling, enjoying the way she hid away from him. The song was about him, she liked him too.
"I wanted to ask you out tonight, but I was worried I would be too old for you," Eddie confessed, her eyes catching his as she looked at him.
"Your age doesn't matter to me. It's just a number. It doesn't change your personality, how well you treat me, how sweet you are, and how handsome you are. I like all of those things about you and that's why I wrote the song." Her heart skipped a beat when he admitted wanting to ask her out.
"So if that guy in the song were to ask you out, what would you say?"
"I'd say yes."
Eddie smiled as he threw money down at the bar, grabbing her hand as he stood up.
"Let's get out of here then."
