the big short (2015)

bro, you can go to versailles in the airport. good cuban food, right there. it's literally everywhere. you can't go more than a few miles in miami without stumbling into cuban food.

this a small part of why i got so incredibly riled up watching this the other day

#the big short #hamish linklater #rafe spall #don't know if they're actually on location at miami international airport but i have spent a fair amount of time there #and they definitely used a sound from that particular airport and again i was transported back to a very unpleasant period of my life #okay so now i'm looking it up and it appears there's only the little grab and go style versailles...#i am ... 85% certain there was a full fledged restaurant in the airport at the time depicted (2007)#because i worked for a company that supported their accounting software LOL (now i'm doubting myself)#honestly this movie is incredibly good at taking an extremely complex and confusing and dry situation that led to the 2008 housing crash #and making it punchy and fun (of a sort) but still packed to the brim with actual details about how it went down #and i think by the end steve carell captured how fucking horrifyingly awful batshit enraging this whole thing was #it was soothing how mad he was lol #i was meryl streep clapping and pointing by the end. say it brother!!!#also the food and coffee is the top of the list of things i miss about miami

𝐿𝑂𝐶𝐴𝑇𝐼𝑂𝑁 : the back of the hall of heroes museum, storage room 𝑆𝑇𝐴𝑇𝑈𝑆 : closed, for @lovecorrupted and @deceptafm (can answer separately)

rafe had expected another flooding ; strangely enough, it was not due to damage from the heavy rain && strong weather from a while back. no, however it was something far worse.

❝ the genius who designed the place chose to place the plumbing system behind this corner here, ❞ he says, leading the way. he's careful with his steps, trying to step on dry patches, though eventually giving up once they reach what seems to be a ... strange amalgamation of pipes and valves.

❝ in order to preserve the rest of the museum's aesthetic, i chose to reserve this part of the wing for staff members only. ❞ some of the water seeps out of cracked && poorly maintained tubes, with various buckets shoved haphazardly underneath them.

however, some of the cracks and dents appear manmade.

❝ this is the second time the room has flooded in a month. i was lucky to be expecting it this time around. the first, i was not so lucky. we lost pieces of artwork to water damage. ❞
