how i remember the shadowhunters episodes! aka oh boy this got long

season 1

1x01 - the one w the magnus on his throne scene!!!

1x02, 1x03 - eps magnus is tragically not there in (although i remember 1x03 by the weird (read: cursed) camille and simon scenes OH AND the isabeliorn scene)

1x04 - obviously malec’s first meeting (oh and elias, we deserved more of him)

1x05 - ??? does luke become the alpha in this one

1x06 - MAGNUS’ BEST OUTFIT (ok maybe one of them i could never choose one) AND SHARING STRENGTH SCENE AND DRINKS ‘TO US’ SCENE

1x07 - lol is clace’s first kiss in this one

1x08 - oH magnus sees alec training shirtless

1x09 - alec tells magnus hes getting married

2x14 - hMM oh downworld cabinet (OF COURSE THE mr. lightwood and mr. bane scene oh my fucking god)

2x15 - some Good magnus content once again (”there’s nothing ugly about you” SOBBING 😭😭)

2x16 - hmm magnus isnt in this ep, also alec finds out about the soul sword

2x17 - shit goes down... before shit goes down tho, malec have a super super super sweet kiss which i Love and also magnus looks Very Good

2x18 - HMM besides the obvious we get some REALLY GOOD FLASHBACKS and malec’s actual first time <3

2x19 - some broken up malec....

2x20 - beach fight!! (that is the funniest thing i’ve seen) and “i don’t think i can live without you”!!!

season 3

3x01 - some GOOD communication between malec <3 also pool scene!!

3x02 - ooh warlock party and shenanigans that follow (many malec scenes bitching on lorenzo AS THEY SHOULD)

3x03 - dinner w maryse,,, AND too domestic for my heart to handle cooking scene

3x04 - aaa the “we’ll make it through this” scene (my HEART)

3x05 - ah some malec angst (and alec makes some stupid decisions) and!! one of my fav magnus outfits

3x06 - some more malec angst AND drunk alec and also the whole family dinner thing djfhj hilarious <3

3x07 - malec hug in the institute,,, magnus blames himself for things he Shouldn’t

3x08 - magnus’ outfit in this one <33

3x09 - magnus is running himself ragged for no reason

3x10 - magnus loses his magic... Yeah. oh and also the last ten minutes of the ep are probably the best thing in the show objectively (meaning, when i’m thinking of the plot and not of malec)

3x11 - oh some magnus angst... APOTHECARY SCENE!! ALSO MADZIE SCENES!! AAAAND “oh you know how we get”

3x12 - ah ofc the training scene <3

3x13 - oo some good magnus & izzy interaction followed by some good lightwood siblings interaction

3x14 - oh wonderful magnus gets lorenzo’s piss magic and loses his apartment :/

3x15 - magnus... almost dies (also the jealousy scene djfdhj) aND HEIDI FINALLY DIES

3x16 - OOF THE ‘STAY WITH ME’ EP,,, malec’s dance scene and alec crying for the first time in the show (lol one tear) AND ALEC SAYING THAT MAGNUS IS HIS EVERYTHING

3x17 - some bad decisions are made... (ykw that should be the tagline of this show) and alec almost proposes,,, magnus breaks down (hsj oscar when)

3x18 - the best acted scene in the show... the malec breakup

3x19 - magnus wanders thru nyc because alec forgot he doesn’t have a fucking apartment! OH ALSO MAGNUS GETS HIS MAGIC BACK <3 ALSOOO some flashbacks <333 ugh the lock one <3 crying

3x20 - MALEC GET ENGAGED!!! also the most aesthetically pleasing scene in the show 👌 alec pulling magnus into a kiss (BY HIS LAPELS) with the world burning behind them <3

3x21 - aa some angst AND ALSO MALEC’S REUNION <333 (BEST HUG I SAID WHAT I SAID)

3x22 - mALEC GET MARRIED!!!!! ALSO THE ONE YEAR JUMP MALEC SCENE,,, LIVES IN MY HEAD RENT FREE

Chapter 10: Knowledge and new friends

Hours later the group of Parabatai returned to the institute, their heads hanging low. Izzy was running up to them as they walked in but draw up short as she sees them. Running up next to her came Xander and Ruthie. Seeing their face they all went ghost white.

“What happened?” Ruthie asked?

“We failed…” Angelique sighs. Jace and Mekyle punch the wall they were each standing next to. This made Clary jump a little. Alec walked over and placed his hand on Jace’s shoulder.

“Hurting yourself is not going to do us any good. We need to find the Prince of hell and send him back,” Alec says.

“Or kill him!” Simon snaps

“We will make this right. We are Shadowhunters,” Izzy says, offering them all a warm smile.

“Plus we got a leg up on Sinara now,” Ruthie says with a bright smile.

Jace worlds around and glares at her. This makes Ruthie cringe back, losing her smiles. “A leg up! A leg up! How the hell is letting a prince of hell free into our world a Damn leg up newbie!”

Xander steps in front of Ruthie and right into Jace’s face. “I respect that you're our institute head and I know you could most likely kill me six ways from Sunday but I won’t let any member of my squad be talked to like that!”

Jace’s face goes red and he balls up his fist and starts to swing at the young Shadowhunter when faster than anyone could blink Alec has grabbed Jace by the arms and was halling him back. Jace was fighting Alec the whole way. Xander however did not move from in front of his teammate.

Clary quickly got into Jace’s face and glared at him. “Jace knock it off. They were not there they don’t know what happened plus let’s see what this leg up Ruthie is talking about really is.”

Jace goes limp in Alec’s arms, his face Softening. Clary turns and looks at Xander and Ruthie. “Ok guys, what is this leg up you are talking about?”

Ruthie gives out a little squeak and steps out from behind Xander. “Is he going to yell at me again?”

“No honey it’s ok now,” Clary says with a soft voice.

“We have one of the gatekeeper here.” Ruthie slowly replied.

“What?” Simon spoke up and moved in front of Jace, Alec, and Clary.

“We made a trip to the Shadow Market and Learned. That an old friend of mine is one of the gatekeepers.” Izzy explained.

“You know a really old Shadowhunter?” Mekyle asks, raising an eyebrow.

“No, she is a downworlder.” She replays

“Huh,” the group of Parabatai all looked very dumbfounded.

Izzy leads them to the infirmary with Xander and Ruthie at each side of her. Cassandra was laying in one of the beds, her right arm was wrapped in bandages. She slowly set up her eyes flicking yellow like a dog.

“Guys this is Cassandra Willows she is a warlock,” Izzy says and points to Cass.

“Sup guys great place you got here,” Cass says with a cheerful voice. Ruthie walks over and looks at the bandages and shakes her head and starts unwrapping the bandages and points to Xander then to the cabinet that has the clean new bandages. “Sorry, Doc the wound started itching.”

“You're healing fast and all but I want you to keep this clean and wrapped,” Ruthie orders her as Xander hands her the new bandages. Ruthie starts wrapping Cass’s arm again.

“Push little thing ant she?” Cass says with a giggle.

“You have no idea.” Xander, Mekyle and Angelique say in unison.

Alec walks over to Cass and puts his hand out. “Hello, Cassandra, I am Alec Bane-Lightwood, Console of the Clave.” Cass blinked and shocked his hand with a look of duda I know who you are. “We understand you are one of the Gatekeepers. What gate do you look over and where is it?”

This made Cass go white and her eyes darted around the room mental mapping a way out of the room. Right as she was about to throw the blanket off and head for the exit. Xander lad a hand on her shoulder and smiles at her.

“Trust us Cass, we want to keep all the Gates safe.” He says and ameetly Cass softens and looks back at Alec.

“I guard over the gate of Gluttony.” Cass answers but was cut off by Simon before she could finish

“The Gate of what?” Simon asks

“The Gate of Gluttony you know like the sin,” Cass states coldly looking at Simon. “You do know what the 9 circles of hell are, don’t you?” Everyone turns to Simon and he just stands there looking confused.

“You mean like the Anime?” He asks.

“No you nerd the Book!” Jace snaps.

“It’s the same thing,” Simon mutters.

“The gate here in New York is Limbo. Seeing as New York was the place where other countries came to the U.S. Hersheypark of Pennsylvania sits the Gate of Gluttony.” Cass says, laying one of her hands on top of Xander’s.

“Why there?” Angelique asks

“Most sites of the gates have some ties to what gate is belt there. Gluttony is simple with a theme park.” Cass answers, trying to sit up on the side of the bad. Xander held his hand out to her and she smiled and blushed, taking his hand. “I will take you to the gate. If this Sinara wants to open my gate she has got one hell of a fight on her hands.”

“We can’t all go,” Alec says

“And why not?” Izzy asks.

“We need to keep A group of Shadowhunters here so that New York stays safe” Alec explains

“He is right, we can’t leave New York unprotected,” Clary adds.

As the group tried to decide who was going and who was staying. A ring from the Institute doorbell came. Jace, Alec, Clary, and Angelique break away to go answer the door. Standing at the door when Jace opened it was Bat the local werewolf clans secant in command. Alec gave him a very odd look. “Bat what are you doing here?”

“Is Maia here?” He barks out.

“Huh?” Jace says

“Are all you Shadowhunter stuped or death? Where is Maia” Bat snaps out his eyes glowing yellow.

“Stand down Lykin. Don’t make me put you down!” Jace yells out moving into Bat’s personal space.

“Like to see you try. No one to stop me this time blondy.” Bat growls low in his through.

Before Alec could move in between the two men Angelique was already there pushing them apart. In a very Com and even voice, she speaks to them “ok guys this is not the time and remember we are at peace here. Bat, Maia is not here, she has not been here. Jace, he is only worried about this alpha.”

Bat looks down at the small hand that was on his chest pushing him away from Jace and he starts to chuckle. “Your one brave little girl.”

“She is right though. Bat you have not heard from Maia?” Alec asks.

Bat steps away and ruffles Angelique’s hair. “No she was sent to meet with you and the other members of the Alliance and she never came back.”

“That was weeks ago,” Alec says in shock and a tinge of panic in his voice.

“I know after a few days I thought it was odd but it’s Maia and she does as she wants. After all, she is the Alpha. But after a week it’s not normal.” Bat explains.

“We need to look into this.” Angelique states.

“Ok, I want you to put together a team and look into this Angelique.” Alec orders.

“Me?!?!?” Angelique shouts.

“Yes you, I need to stay here and deal with clave business and the rest will be going with Cass,” Alec says.

“Xander should lead then,” Angelique says.

“There is no way he is not going to go with Cass,” Clay says.

“Oh, you got that too.” Jace chimes in clary smiles and nods.

“This is your mission Angelique as order by your Console.” Alec orders again. This time Angelique just nods. Bat looks at Alec and Angelique. “Bat return to the pack and Angelique will come to you with her team,” Alec adds.

“Ok see you soon Shadowhunter,” Bat says and bonds down the steers.

All the Shadowhunters and Magnus, who had portaled to the institute a few minutes ago now sit around a huge round table in the war room. Alec leads the meeting deciding who is going on what mission and agreeing with the Shadowhunters Angelique picked to take on hers.

Angelique chose Mekyle and Ruthie for her mission Simon and Izzy were picked by Alec to back them up. This leaves Jace, Clary, Xander, and Cass going to the gate.

“We have one more idam we need to deal with,” Alec announces.

“We do?” Simon asks puzzled.

“Yes the names of are Young Shadowhunters,”

“Oh yes, the last name ceremony.” Magnus snickers. Alec shouts him a living eye roll.

“Anyway Xander, Angelique and Mekyle have you chosen your Shadowhunter name?”

Xander stands up. “I have out of respect and honor for my Headmaster and her amazing Daughter. I like to become a Fairchild.” He looks over at Clary and she gives him a small nod.

Alec smiles seeing this. “So be it, welcome Xander Fairchild.” Xander smiles and sits back down. “Angelique, Mekyle, have you?”

“Yes I would like Waterheart.” Angelique says standing up. Mekyle jumps up next to her.

“This was not an easy choice for me but if you would allow. I like to be Mekyle WolfScar.”

Alec gives them a soft smile. “Welcome Angelique WaterHeart and Mekyle WolfScar.”

With the teams assigned they split up and head off to get what gear that they would need and even a little sleep if they could before heading off. This gave the couples some time to be alone leaving the Newbies and Cass to find something to pass their time with if they don’t want to sleep.

Angelique and Ruthie decided they would sleep in the same room for the night so they could talk about the mission and some boys they liked back at the academy. Mekyle was not going to sleep at all so he headed up to the Training Room to punch the bag a little and work on his dagger throws. This left Xander alone with Cass.

Xander leads Cass to the common room where the TV was playing Ghosthunters on the Discovery channel. “I know now that I am a Shadowhunter. I have been rewatching them and the Taps crow came really close a few times to finding a real ghost. I wonder if one of them is related to the Herondales?” Xander says.

“I am a bit shocked to see a TV at all in an Institute,” Cass replies.

“Ya most are still old-fashioned but Clary and Simon need their Anime, is what i got told,” Xander explained.

“Oh man, I love me some Death Note.” Cass giggled.

“You have the cutest laugh, Hold on did you say you like Death Note,” Xander says looking a little flushed. Cass just smiles and winks at him as Xander turns a bright red.

Story:

Alec groaned as he fully pushed into Magnus, bottoming out. He shut his eyes as he felt his Alpha clench around his dick. Through shaky breaths, he quickly started reciting runes to distract himself from tipping over.

“Okay there, Sayang?” Magnus teased as he looked over his shoulder, watching as his Omega struggled and attempted to stop himself from moving. Magnus’ glamour finally broke at the image of Alec strained to keep his composure while the runes persisted, glowing slightly against his angel’s sweat-coated skin.

“Magnus,” Alec groaned and opened his eyes to look at his husband, regretting it. All of Alec’s distraction techniques were rendered null by the sight of his bonded laid out on a sea of amethyst sheets. Magnus’ warlock mark on display, and Alec could smell the possessiveness and pleasure coursing through his Alpha.

“The excess angelic energy won’t work itself out, Alexander,” Magnus playfully chided and rolled his hips to encourage his angel to move finally.

“Fuck,” Alec cursed and gripped Magnus’ hips, keeping the warlock still before pulling out slowly. He saw as his slick seeped back out of his Alpha. Alec had taken his time stretching and working Magnus open the moment the portal behind them closed. Glimpses of dropped clothing and teasing kisses flooded his mind, not helping his situation.

“Please, my Omega,” Magnus called out, wiggling against Alec’s hold. The Alpha was patient, but after what had felt like hours of being licked and teased open, he needed his husband.

Alec pushed back in and watched a shiver journey down Magnus’ back, beckoning him deeper. Alec followed the call quickly, picking up the pace. He basked in every whine and praise he coaxed out of his Alpha. He felt when Magnus’ hands gave out and quickly draped his body over his husbands. Alec almost lost himself feeling Magnus’ heated skin against his active runes.

Magnus clung to the sheets under him as he felt Alec’s hands move from his hips to cage him against the bed instead. All the Alpha was allowed to do was push back on his Omega, and Magnus planned to take full advantage of this. Every time Alec would pull out, Magnus would be sure to meet him on the push. Magnus could feel his knot threatening to pop, rutting against the sheets with every push.

The Alpha’s eyes shot open when he felt Alec start to mouth and nip at his mating scar. It had been years since they had completed their bond, but they both still behaved like freshly mated, constantly fixated on the tethers between their bond.

“Alexander, please,” Magnus moaned and babbled, gripping the sheets closer as he tried to stave off his orgasm. “So good for me, my Omega.”

“Mine. My Alpha,” Alec groaned as he rutted against Magnus. His Alpha kept twitching and clenching around him; Alec knew they both weren’t going to last longer.

Echos of each other’s names were all the warnings they received before they both tipped over.

Without realizing it himself Alexander Lightwood sweeps Magnus off his feet, and along the way Magnus finds that he's in deep and has no plan, his dream guy is already in a relationship and every day he is closer to his return to Edom.

And even if he manages to get Alec's attention, will there ever be a good time to tell him he's been a prince all along?

Shadowhunters Recap: Season 1

All the while, Jocelyn and Luke changed their last names and lived in peaceful hiding in the mundane world. Jocelyn became an artist, Luke became a cop, both raised the baby together and tried to protect her from Valentine by actively gaslighting her for eighteen years. And, like, not in the way fandom uses it. They were so busy convincing Clary that reality isn't reality, every time she saw something supernatural, that they took her to a powerful warlock named Magnus Bane to actually alter her memories.

(Clary Fray and Luke Garroway, who should be her dad, but her mom was an idiot. If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it, Jocelyn)

That works until Clary's eighteenth birthday, when she goes out to celebrate with her best friend the nerd Simon - and gets dragged into the supernatural.

They run into Alec, Izzy and Jace, who are there on a demon slaying mission. The thing is, those three are using their rune-magic to be invisible to mundies - which works on Simon, who can’t see them, but doesn’t work on Clary, who can see them, since she is a Shadowhunter. Clary is startled and when she runs back home - it’s to find her apartment trashed, her mom gone and a demon waiting for her. Thankfully for her, Jace was intrigued by the supposed mundie who could see him and followed her (because it’s not like Shadowhunters just casually live in the world; there aren’t that many anymore and they live in the Institute and work there too).

Jace gets very involved from the get-go, Izzy is very friendly with Clary and is also on board with helping her, Alec is incredibly against this idea. He’s outvoted.

They investigate and find out that Clary is Valentine Morgenstern’s daughter. At the same time, Simon - who may not have understood what was going on but wasn’t going t let his best friend do this alone - gets kidnapped by vampires and, consequently, turned into a vampire by (Magnus Bane’s ex-girlfriend) Camille.

Their investigations lead them to Magnus himself, since he was the one who had taken Clary’s memories as a child. To piece the whole picture together, they think they have to get those memories back. Additionally to everything else, Magnus is also the High Warlock - basically, the warlock in charge of all warlocks in New York (though he bears the title “of Brooklyn”, which makes little sense and is unnecessarily confusing).

Naturally, that doesn’t work out so easily, because Magnus had fed Clary’s memories to a memory-demon “for safe-keeping” and to get them back, they would each have to sacrifice a memory of the person they love the most. For Alec, that’s Jace. Not because they’re parabatai, but because he’s in love with Jace - a thing he has been hiding for many years at this point now, so this makes Alec panic and break the circle and thus spell, causing Clary’s memories to be lost forever due to just how deep he is in the closet.

Meanwhile Luke, whom Clary hadn’t sought out due to a misunderstanding after overhearing half a conversation, is revealed to be a werewolf and Valentine’s parabatai and he also claims the title of alpha of the pack now, so he can protect Clary better. They now also learn about the existence of a Jonathan and about an ancient artifact known as the Mortal Cup that Jocelyn had stolen when she disappeared.

This mess unfolding in New York also reaches the higher-ups and the Clave sends an envoy to seize control of the New York Institute from the Lightwoods, because the whole Valentine-revival-party apparently made them think that maybe it’s not a great look to have two former Circle members be the leaders of an Institute.

Alec, still very deep in the closet, thinks it’s a good idea to get married to Lydia. Perfect beard. Also perfect solution to getting his family back in power, because usually a married couple rules an Institute.

I’m skipping over some minor details here, because they don’t factor in the overall plot, but Izzy’s Seelie on-again-off-again boyfriend Meliorn gets arrested and rescued by Izzy, which causes her to get arrested, Camille (the vampire clan-leader) gets fired because she turned Simon into a vampire without his consent and instead Raphael (who is like a son to Magnus) is promoted.

We are now going on a side-quest to an alternate universe because - and, just, don’t question certain things, they don’t necessarily make sense, they make plot - they need a thing that they can’t find in their reality and Jocelyn was carrying a shard to a portal so Clary goes seek that portal to check in that alternate reality to find the thing. It gave us a visual of soft pastel Jace, so I’m not necessarily complaining here.

Meanwhile, Inquisitor Herondale arrives in New York as judge for Izzy’s trial. She’s basically the highest figure of authority in the Shadowhunter society.

While Imogen, Izzy, Alec, Lydia and also Magnus - who jumps in as Izzy’s lawyer for no really understandable reason (meaning: he is not a lawyer) - are busy with the trial, Jace and Clary, on their way back from the alternate universe, find Michael Wayland. Very much not dead. Only that he’s not Michael Wayland, of course, he’s Valentine, who once again took that form to mess with his children’s head.

This time, by telling them they’re both his children. Which, they are. But he makes them believe that they are both his biological children and that Jace is Jonathan #1. Since no one aside from Valentine knew that there were two Jonathans, this works. Because, well, at that point in time it made quite sense; if Michael was really Valentine, then Michael’s son Jonathan must be Valentine’s son Jonathan (at which point, let me note: Shadowhunters are not creative when it comes to naming their children).

This reveal is very disturbing for Clary and Jace, who over the course of the past eleven days of knowing each other have developed a mutual crush on each other. (Yes, all of that has happened in less than two weeks so far. Which, at this point in time, is actually still a believable timeline, honestly.) Also, they find Jocelyn here, with Valentine, but she’s in a magic coma.

Izzy is cleared off all charges, Lydia and Alec are pretty much set for their wedding, yet another acquaintance of Magnus’ comes up as useful in all of this but he turns out dead, Magnus is developing a crush on Alec and is being pushing about Alec maybe not marrying a woman considering he’s gay as a rainbow. Which Alec doesn’t want to hear, because the gay’s gotta stay in the closet and he also can’t quite deal with his own blossoming attraction to Magnus.

It’s the day of Lydia and Alec’s wedding (after a long-lasting four day engagement)! And everything goes to shit. Naturally.

Magnus crashes Lydia and Alec’s wedding in the plot of a twelve year old’s first fanfiction, dramatically sweeping Alec off his feet in front of all of his co-workers and family, despite the whole rampant homophobia and the fact that Alec was so deep in the closet he was ready to marry a woman just a second ago. This one wasn’t written for the plot, it was written for the ship, hence the personal judgement of “a twelve year old’s first fanfiction”, because the dramatic moment’s serious repercussions are just... skipped. Shadowhunters kind of forget to be homophobic from hereon out and Lydia is very okay with this public embarrassment too, all works out well and Alec has gained a boyfriend with zero personal consequences despite having spent all his life fearing said consequences!

(A side note: Tackling big topics such as homophobia and then just not actually tackling them and dealing with the realistic outfall of them is one of this show’s biggest flaws. They just kind of pretend the big, systemic problem... goes away.)

In the aftermath of the failed wedding, a close friend of the Lightwoods betrays them and steals the Mortal Cup. (It had been hidden inside a tarot card that Jocelyn’s best friend had kept safe. They had found it and wanted to bring it to the Clave after the wedding.)

The group - Magnus, Alec, Jace, Izzy, Clary, Simon - chase after it, but Valentine tricks them. He threatens to kill them all if Jace doesn’t go with him. Jace chooses his friends’ safety over his own and goes with his abuser.

After being reborn, did they meet friendlies first or hostiles: Both. He met Vex who were attacking and rampaging The Last City, but fought them and was then met by Zavala who’d come to handle the situation, only to see a new Guardian had already done this. Zavala saw the distress on Magnus’s face at this, and assured him over and over again.

Did your Guardian get reborn with, or find, any indication of their past life? If so what do they have/found: Magnus has no indication of his past life, and knows nothing about it. He assumes he wasn’t Reefborn, but he partially wonders if he was just because of his vehement hatred for Mara Sov. Magnus can’t find anything on who he was, nor does he really care to know.

How did your Guardian get their name(if they didn’t rez with past life momentos): He knew/remembered it, and also Einar addressed him by “Magnus” when he was first revived and woke up.

Going back to your Guardian’s lore book, what would be some some quotes or passages from their book: Two passages are actually readable at my Ao3, dawnbreakerdystopia! Most of the lorebook passages would recount the tales of Magnus’s efforts to join the warring species of the galaxy together in unity, and would likely use the Hammer of Sol which he wields as a metaphor, leading those who read them to wonder if Magnus actually wielded it (he does). The passages would also recount the daring exploits he’s done to protect his friends, family, the training he put Ghaul through to be a strong and independent Guardian, and overall they’d just be written like poetic legends.

Is your Guardian a part of a clan: Not officially. He’s sort of a part of every group regardless of whether he chooses to be or not. Life finds a way to drag him into them all.

He’s had plenty of rough encounters with them, but nowadays, they accept him as their Evocate General, and bend to his every command (Magnus NEVER abuses this). Magnus has had very few positive interactions with Hive, as Savathun and Oryx have constantly tried to seduce him with Darkness and ruin him. He struggles to trust Hive, but knows that there is good in everything just as there is bad, nothing is inherently evil, and thus, he has to and does accept Hive who are willing to be his allies. Magnus’s interactions with Eliksni have always been positive, and he’s always gotten along with them. Scorn and Vex, he has yet to meet any who’d be willing to work with him. Magnus personally hates the Vex entirely, but still holds out the belief that there is at least one out there who’s good and friendly.

Does your Guardian have any unconventional allies or connections(By Vanguard standards): PLENTY!!!! Ghaul, Spider, being Evocate General of Cabal, you name it.

How does your Guardian feel about themselves or others using Stasis: Magnus is against himself using it. He understands that others can make use of the power, but he HATES the Darkness, and would never trust a single thing from it, let alone a “gift” which would inevitably corrupt him, not to mention bring him nearer to it which he refuses to do.

Did they run The Last Wish raid? How did they react to seeing a live Ahamkara a.k.a Riven: Magnus has not run this raid yet.

Did they run The Deep Stone Crypt raid? How did they react to the Crypt and seeing Exo Eliskni: Magnus has not run this raid yet, either.

Where did they go and what did they do during The Red War: Magnus followed the main story, and was the only Lightbearer, thus he spearheaded the entire operation and literally held the fate of every single life on his shoulders and his alone. He fought, nonstop, and never gave up or slowed down.

Osiris, First Warlock Vanguard, originally exiled: Magnus looks up to Osiris for his wisdom, only a little, though, and he’d never tell Osiris this. Both of them know it, though, and words are not necessary to convey their mutual respect.

Eris Morn, Bane of the Swarm: He loves her, he wants to help her at all costs, and he knows to never pity Eris, or try protecting her without asking if she needs protection first, as she’s highly capable and strong-willed.

Cayde-6, Sixth Hunter Vanguard: Magnus is fucking head over HEELS for him, and would lay his life on the line for Cayde. He was devastated beyond words when Uldren killed him, but came to understand that it was the Darkness’s doing, not Uldren’s. And thus, he forgave him.

Ikora Rey, Second Warlock Vanguard: Mom. She’s just straight-up his mom.

Commander Zavala, Second Titan Vanguard: Mentor, dad-like friend, always reliable.

Saint-14, legendary Titan, First Titan Vanguard: Extreme respect, love, honors him deeply, aspires to be like him, MUST PROTECT!!!

Lord Saladin, Iron Banner handler, One of the last remaining Iron Lords: Indifferent. Magnus entirely disagrees with and somewhat hates what the Iron Lords did, but he senses good in Saladin and sees it as well. He holds onto that good, as he does for everything and everyone.

Lord Shaxx, Crucible handler, Hero of Twilight Gap, living megaphone: FRIEND!!! Always a good motivator, always reliable, selfless af which Magnus respects, and Magnus aspires to be so much like him. Is also slightly intimidated by Shaxx.

The Crow, New Light, Ex-Enforcer to The Spider: Friend, must be protected, is a new person and not Uldren, is capable of great things and must be guided to do just that. Magnus sees Crow follows his heart, and that’s more than enough for him to know this man is on the right path.

The Spider, The Shore’s Only Law, founder of “House” Spider: DAD!!! Spider adopted Magnus after (reluctantly at first) he went to Spider with a bounty from the Vanguard saying to kill him. Magnus knew this had to be a setup, it was, and Spider was immediately thankful, and then began calling Magnus his son. Both of them trust each other with everything and anything, and Magnus knows Spider is a good man at heart.

Uldren Sov, Prince of the Reef, Master of Crows: No. Don’t trust him, he’s misguided as FUCK!

Mara Sov, Queen of the Reef, Queen of the Awoken, Ex-Kell of Wolves: FUCK! YOU!!! Magnus would throw her off the throne and take it himself if he wasn’t so busy being Evocate General. He’d imprison her until her natural death. The things Mara has done, to the Awoken, the galaxy, and her brother, are unforgiveable, and she MUST pay for that.

Variks, the Loyal, founder of House Judgement: A friend, an ally, someone Magnus can rely on. He values Variks, even if he made mistakes in the past, but Magnus is a firm believer in destiny, and thus thinks Variks’s actions have been done for a reason which is to bring the world to the present it’s at.

Mithrax, the Forsaken, Kell of Light, founder of House Light: Absolutely reliable, always a good friend, Magnus will drop everything and go help protect Mithrax or aid him in his endeavors if he’s able. Magnus loves him as a close friend, and is deeply bound to House Light.

The Exo Stranger/Elizabeth “Elsie” Bray, Granddaughter of Clovis I and Sister to Ana Bray: Can be trusted, must be trusted, and Magnus also takes pity on her for what she went through both in the future, and by the hands of Clovis Bray.

Eramis, of House Salvation, Kell of Darkness: FUCK NOPE, don’t trust, avoid at all costs.

Empress Caiatl of the Cabal Imperial Empire: An ally and definitely trustable. Her motives are questionable, but Magnus understands where she’s coming from, and therefore believes she can be a great companion with some compromise.

Taniks the Scarred, the Perfected, the Abomination, the Shadow Thief: Nooooooooooooo get away get away get away GET AWAY!!!

The Darkness is fast approaching. How is your Guardian handling it: A N X I E T Y! !! !!!! ! !! But Magnus is taking action, fighting it head-on and never backing down for even a moment. He refuses to let the Darkness take hold, and aims to destroy it entirely once and for all.

Fake heat

Magnus hasn't felt well since he woke up this morning. His joints are aching, his scars are itching, and he feels sick all over. But there is no use. He planned to paint the nursery a beautiful mint green, and he wants all the fumes to be out of the room when Rafael moves in come Friday.

Their little boy. Magnus can't believe the time has finally come for them to become a family. He's nervous and elated. He manages to push the doubts away. Well, most of the time. That he will raise him together with Alec surely is the only thing that doesn't make him want to revoke the adoption process every six hours or so.

He knows he's ready. He truly is. His therapy sessions have been reduced to once a month. His life is not all rainbows and sunshine, but it is his life—their life—and the ghost of Valentine leaves them alone most of the time.

The media interest has subsided, too, with Magnus' name solely popping up in subordinate clauses whenever there is progress in the legislation regarding the status of omegas in society.

Magnus still loves seeing his name in the papers and signing contracts on his own, every single time shooting a shiver through his body. With the emancipation letter came the option to choose if he wanted to keep Alec's family name or go back to his mother's. The decision-making had blessed him with a few sleepless nights. But when he learnt that future children could carry both their fathers' names, the decision was easily made.

Magnus wipes sweat off his forehead. No one in the northern hemisphere should transpire in February. But he does, from an easy paint job. He feels disgusting and can't wait for the shower he'll take after cleaning up the room.

"Magnus?" Alec's voice comes from the hallway.

"Rafe's room," he shouts and can't suppress a smile.

Rafael Santiago Lightwood-Bane. Not for the first time, tears prick Magnus' eyes from the sheer force of emotions, thinking about his little boy. Or maybe it's hormones? His instincts kicking in? Who knows? He loves Rafe so much already. The now eleven months old orphan had stolen both their hearts the first time they saw him in the orphanage in Buenos Aires. And now, he will find a home with them and with it two fathers who will love him unconditionally.

"Hey," Alec says when he enters the room. "I wanted to help." He presses his lips gently on Magnus'.

"I wanted to surprise you," he replies into the kiss.

Alec smiles at him. "It looks great!" He cups Magnus' neck with his long fingers and his relaxed features morph into a concerned frown. "You feel warm. Are you coming down with something?"

Magnus shrugs and bunches up the plastic sheet that protected the wooden floor. He regards the room that used to be his. Soft light shines through the newly installed window. Magnus can't wait to move the furniture in.

He sways a little when he straightens, and Alec steadies him. "Maybe," he answers morosely. "I'm sweating as if I trained."

"Did you eat something?"

Magnus shakes his head. "I wasn't hungry."

Alec furrows his brow even deeper. Magnus always likes to eat. It's one of his joys after years of starvation and the lack of it a clear sign that something's wrong.

"You smell very sweet today," Alec states and Magnus' eyes shoot up at that.

"No, not again," he whines. "My last was—what?—seven weeks ago? I'm done with these fake heats! And our baby boy comes. There's still so much to do."

Alec pulls him into his arms and guides him to his neck, his scent rising soothingly into Magnus' nose.

"Everything he needs is his Papa and Daddy, our nest, and all the love we can give him. We have enough formula and diapers for a month, the clothes are already washed. The crib and the changing table and all the other stuff can wait."

Magnus nods against his shoulder, thankful for Alec to keep him grounded.

"Come on. Let's get something into your stomach, and then we'll take a shower. What do you say?" Magnus takes a deep breath and nods again.

Alec brings Magnus a protein bar, the only food his mate can really stomach through his fake heats. They had quite a few in the last two years to deal with—never predictable, always a bit frustrating, given that they never turned into a real one, never triggered a heat-rut in Alec. They are a painful reminder of what Magnus has lost, despite all the good things he experienced since he became Alec's omega. At least, the waves are becoming shallow quickly, are easily satiated, and the fake heat usually lasts no longer than two days. Enough time to do the laundry before little Rafe moves in.

Alec undresses Magnus with trained hands. He knows every single of his mate's especially sensitive spots by now and avoids touching them as much as he can. Then he guides him under the shower and smiles when the lukewarm spray from above elicits a soft moan from his omega.

Alec lets his inner alpha run free. By now, he knows that he has a caring wolf that longs to make his mate feel good under any circumstances, but especially in situations like these when Magnus' biology kicks in.

Alec massages shampoo into Magnus' scalp, lathers his body with neutral soap, and presses kisses against his neck, just like Magnus likes it best. He gives himself a quick wash and dries Magnus off with the fluffiest towel they could find in a specialist shop for heat supplies. The scars are much more sensitive during the heats. It had taken them five cycles to find an ointment that numbed the itch enough for Magnus not to want to scratch himself until he draws blood.

Alec leads Magnus to their nest and massages the balm into the sensitive skin. Magnus sighs into the pillows when the numbing and cooling effect sets in. After an obligatory sports drink, they finally cuddle up and take a nap. They'll need the rest for the first wave that is always the hardest.

"Alpha."

The sound alarms Alec instantly. It had taken Magnus quite some time to learn that giving in to his inner omega during these fake heats is a sure thing to make the whole ordeal easier. And if his wolf wants to present his belly or his ass and call his alpha just that, so be it.

"I'm here, my little omega," Alec coos.

Magnus' omega loves when Alec talks to him like that, lovingly, not depreciatory. It also likes his strong, sure hands on his body and the relief that comes with his perfect knot. Although Magnus likes these things out of heat, too. But who cares who's in charge now? He hands it over to Alec anyway.

"Need you," he begs shamelessly.

"I'm here, love. How do you want me?"

Magnus rolls on his back with great effort, his whole body aching, his skin dampened with a sheen of sweat. He's thankful that they are still naked from the shower. Waking up like this in his pyjamas is never fun, the wet fabric sticking to the burning skin like glue. Having his heat start in the middle of his shopping, neither. Lucky for Magnus, he doesn't smell like heat for other alphas. Another perk in his book.

Alec smiles at him, and for a long moment, time seems to stand still. Magnus is so in love with the alpha, who treats him like something precious, but never as weak or fragile.

The too-familiar pang of sadness resonates in his chest. Yes, he'll be a father in three days, but he will never grow a baby in his body, will never give birth, or nurse it. Usually, he's fine with it, but never at the beginning of his fake heats. Damn hormones!

Alec crawls between his legs. "Touch or no?"

The two mates are such a well-oiled machine by now and it shows. Magnus assesses the state of his body. He's more sensitive this time, the scar tissue on his abdomen still itching despite the balm.

"No," he says.

Alec nods and shuffles closer, pulling Magnus' butt onto his spread knees. He gives his cock a few strokes to get to full hardness and slides into Magnus with little effort. The miracle of omega biology.

Alec glides in and out of him with as little contact with Magnus' angry red skin as possible. He's a master of it by now. He smiles down at Magnus. "You're so good for me," he whispers and his omega chuckles.

"I'm doing nothing," he jokes and elicits an even wider smile from his alpha. Alec doesn't remember when they had this dialogue for the first time, but it has become a tradition.

"It's getting worse," Magnus hisses, the heat setting his whole body aflame. He hates this. It isn't how a heat should be. Yes, unease is normal, but this simply hurts. There is no passion from his side, no lust or urge to be intimate. They have sex because they know that it will ease the pain. And because they love each other, of course.

Alec could never let Magnus suffer, even though they learnt that the pain would subside on its own even without them having sex—thanks to an impromptu heat when Alec was in Los Angeles for a book reading.

Alec doubles his efforts, and his knot swells soon enough. He takes Magnus' cock into his hand, and after a few strokes, Magnus' body locks up, and he comes all over himself, quickly followed by his alpha.

They come down from their heights rather quickly—Magnus because his skin is still burning despite the fever slowly coming down, Alec because he's already in caring alpha mode again, propping up Magnus' body as best as possible with pillows so that they can stay like this until his knot comes down.

Magnus smiles up at him tiredly. "You're such a good alpha," he praises, and Alec's wolf dances a happy cha-cha-cha in his reptilian brain.

He shakes his head in denial. And yes, Magnus lost many things in his life, fought hard to get some of them back. But this here? Alec? That was simply destiny, and he thanks the angels every day that they brought them together.

Because even through the pain, the fever, and the dizziness, he can feel the love radiating off Alec and through their bond. And it smoothes out the worst edges. Alec's presence doesn't make everything good, but every moment so much better.

"I love you, Alexander," he whispers.

"I love you, too," Alec replies and sends him a kiss through the air that lands like a weightless butterfly on his lips. Magnus closes his eyes, and the last conscious thought he has before he slides into sleep is that fake heats aren't all that bad if you spend them with the man you love.
