How I knew the taco bell worker was a dog person:
Me: *rolls up to the window*
Her: "Hi the-oh my god!"
Me: *glances back*
Fozzie in the back seat: *terrifyingly intent eyes focused on worker, his nose wrinkled as it is shoved through the window crack, lips over the edge of the glass like he's biting the window. Great globs of drool slide from his cheeks like a waterfall down the glass in anticipation of The Potential Drivethru Treat*
Me:
Her:
Me:
Her: "He's... SO CUTE. 🥺"
Me: "Thank you! He loves plain taco bell chips and your drivethru."
I do not have a photo of him at the drivethru because I was driving, so enjoy this shot of his wrinkly face and blep.

haven't been able to cook something rlly good or eat my favorite foods in the way that I like them recently and it's doing horrors for my mental health. I would honestly settle for Kraft mac n cheese and dino nuggies rn (I don't like Kraft brand mac n cheese and much prefer homemade but that's ridiculously expensive and dino nuggies are fine I guess but I prefer something crisper like popcorn chicken or McDonald's nuggets)

💌 Blurb: send in a character and an event/plot/topic/etc. to get a 100-200 word answer
what about tom holland x reader where it's her first time visiting london and she pokes fun at how british everything is but she's really in love with it all
Hehe okay!
Very British : Tom Holland x Reader Blurb
Tumblr media
“What was that?” Tom laughed, shaking his head in disbelief.
“You’re telling me that’s not exactly what you guys sound like?” Y/n teased with a grin.
Tom shook his head. “Darling, let’s leave the acting to me, huh?” he teased.
Y/n lightly scoffed. “You’re just scared, darling,” she remarked in her earlier fake British accent.
“What has gotten into you?” Tom chuckled.
Y/n shrugged. “I don’t know,” she hummed. “Maybe my brain is fried from all the fries being called chips, and chips being called crisps, and don’t even get me started on biscuits!”
Tom laughed so hard he had to rest his hands on his knees. “Are you trying to say something?” He asked humorously.
“It’s just all so… British,” she giggled.
“And is that a bad thing?” Tom pressed as he raised an eyebrow at her.
“No, ‘course not,” she promised lovingly. She quickly pecked his lips. “After all, you’re very British too,” she winked.

My Secret Ken-Doll (part one)
summary: Elvis has a little secret named Kennedy Jackson.
word count: 3.1k
Author's Note: Was in the mood for some angst.... As always.
Part 2, Part 3, Epilogue
Tumblr media
My Secret Ken-Doll
Elvis sat in the back of his Cadillac with Charlie Hodge on his left, Jerry Schilling driving the car and Red West in the passenger seat. Elvis could barely contain his excitement, he placed the palm of his hand on his shaking knee to cease the movement. He had to bite down on his lip to stop himself from smiling, the guys would tease him relentlessly if they saw how excited he was.
Jerry pressed on the brakes, pulling the car to the side walk in front of the building that Elvis always seemed to disappear to the moment he lands back in Memphis, he was starting to spend more time in this unknown apartment building than Graceland at this point.
“Good night.” Elvis said and quickly jumped out of the car. The guys had no idea where or who he was seeing in this apartment but everyone could tell it was a girl.
He rushed up the stairs, taking them two steps at a time. Elvis took a deep breath and knocked on the door, he was grinning ear to ear when he heard rapid foot steps approaching the door from the other side.
“Hi sweetheart!” Kennedy said grinning, opening the door wide open.
“Hi Kenny baby!” Elvis chuckled, opening his arms wide for her to jump in them.
Kennedy jumped in his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck and locked her legs around his slim waist.
Elvis smashed his lips on Kennedy’s lips, gripping her waist tight “I missed you.” he sighed against her lips. Elvis had been going back and forth between Vegas for the filming of Viva Las Vegas with Ann-Margret and Memphis.
“I missed you too.” she replied “Let’s go inside before my neighbors see you.”
Elvis chuckled and stepped inside the apartment, shutting the door behind him and placed Kennedy on the kitchen island while running his hands up and down her bare thighs. She was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt.
“Mmm what are you cooking?” he asked, the kitchen smelt like an assortment of delicious food.
“Well, I just finished cooking dinner. I made your favorite, mashed potatoes, fried chicken and biscuits and for dessert chocolate chip cookies.” Kennedy replied running her fingers through Elvis’ hair.
They had met a few months back when her friend was invited to one of Elvis’ many parties at Graceland by his entourage.
Kennedy had went to the party reluctantly seeing as she had work the next day and needed to be up super early. Kennedy under no circumstances wanted to say hi to Elvis, she didn’t really want to disturb him in his own house and seeing as he was surrounded by girls, she opted to steer clear but once she caught Elvis’ eye, it was a done deal. He shrugged off the girls that sat around him on the couch and walked over to Kennedy who was talking to one of the guys at the party.
“Hey, can you give us a second?” Elvis asked the guy, coming to stand behind Kennedy.
“Umm sure, no problem..” the guy smiled timidly and walked off.
Kennedy frowned in confusion and turned, surprised to see it was Elvis that spoke.
“Hi.” Elvis grinned, looking down at Kennedy.
“Hi.” Kennedy smiled, feeling slightly nervous. He was very handsome especially up close. He had his hair pushed back and he was dressed in a blue button down with the first few buttons open, exposing his hairy chest.
“I’m Elvis.” Elvis outstretched his hand out to her.
“I know.” She chuckled “Kennedy.” She said, taking Elvis’ hand to shake but he instead pulled it to his lips and planted a kiss on the top of her hand while keeping eye contact with her. She raised her eyebrow and smiled awkwardly.
“You have a nice name.”
“Thanks, my parents thought I was a boy and didn’t bother changing the name.” Kennedy shrugged making Elvis chuckle.
“Nah, I think it suits you.”
Kennedy blushed slightly and chuckled. Elvis grinned at her reaction.
They talked all night but nothing happened between them. Kennedy had to go to work with almost zero sleep but she felt a deep connection with Elvis that night. She didn’t know if every girl felt that way but she thought she would never see him again until a few days later he showed up in one of his Cadillacs in front of her work place.
He rolled down the window and grinned at her, tipping his large sunglasses down.
She frowned and looked at him in bewilderment.
“Get in, quick!” He said as people walking around started to notice him.
“What?” I looked at him like he spouted another head.
“Quick!” He hissed.
Kennedy got flustered when she noticed people starting to quickly circulate around his car so she quickly rushed towards the passenger side and got in. Elvis quickly zipped out of there leaving behind a group of  screaming fans.
“What in God’s name are you doing here?” Kennedy asked him.
“Don’t curse the lord sweetheart.” Elvis chuckled “You know how hard I had to look to find you?”
“Seems like it was pretty easy if it only took you a few days.” Kennedy replied.
Elvis laughed and turned his head to look at her with one hand on the steering wheel and the other resting on his thigh “Well it was kind of easy since you’re probably the only girl that has the name Kennedy in Memphis.”
“Hey!” Kennedy smacked his arm “You said it suits me.”
“It does!” Elvis laughed and looked at Kennedy once again, his eyes roaming down her body before he turned to look back at the road “You look so hot dressed like a sexy librarian.”
“Woah there. You say that to every girl you meet?” Kennedy raised her eyebrow at him.
Elvis look at her with a slightly gaping mouth “I-I’m sorry honey, I-I didn't meant anything by it. You just look good.” He stuttered, feeling flustered with how Kennedy was staring him down.
“Elvis.” Kennedy chuckled “I’m kidding. Thanks for the complement… I guess?”
“Ah doll. I almost crapped myself.” Elvis chuckled, shaking his head.
“Where are we going?” Kennedy asked him.
“Anywhere you’d like.” Elvis replied.
“I’d like to go home.”
Elvis pouted and gave her his best puppy dog eyes“Wrong answer.”
“You said anywhere I’d like.”
“Anywhere else!”
“Fine.” Kennedy rolled her eyes “I’d like to get some food because I’m starving.”
“Perfect! We’re going to my favorite diner. It’s very quiet, don’t worry.” Elvis winked.
“So, what do you do exactly?” Elvis asked, taking a big bite of his cheeseburger. Kennedy sat opposite of him eating chewing on her own cheeseburger.
“I work in Finance.” She replied.
Elvis rolled his eyes.
“What?” Kennedy chuckled.
“Nothing. Your… partner doesn't mind you working?” He asked, eyeing her.
She chuckled and shook her head at him “Is that your way of asking if I’m single?”
“Uhh I-I-“ He stuttered, for some reason he always felt super nervous around her.
“I wouldn’t have spent the entire night talking to you if I had a boyfriend or a husband now would I?” She asked him with a raised eyebrow.
“Well… I tried to kiss you that night and you fully dodged me. Even then I still had to look for you.” Elvis replied, mumbling the last sentence as his cheeks turned bright red.
Kennedy leaned forward with her eyes wide “When?”
“What?” He looked up at her with wide eyes “When we went outside and sat in my backyard.”
Kennedy frowned “I don’t remember.”
“I gave you the look, I looked at your lips… You smiled. I leaned forward to kiss you then you just turned away from me and took a sip of your drink.” Elvis replied.
“Oh!” Kennedy covered her face with both her hands “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you tried to kiss me.”
Elvis laughed and shook his head. He grabbed a napkin and wiped his lips, taking a sip out of his Pepsi bottle before getting out of the booth and sliding in, next to Kennedy.
“What are you doing?” She asked, quietly when he scooted closer to her. His thighs were pressed up against her own.
“We’re gonna try this again. I’m telling you now, I’m gonna kiss you.” He whispered, looking down at her lips.
“Okay.” Kennedy whispered, also looking down at his pouty lips. She licked her lips unconsciously as he leaned forward, his eyes darting from her lips to her eyes and back. He closed the distance and kissed her softly. Kennedy kissed him back and placed her hand at the nape of his neck, playing with the ends of his hair. He smiled against her lips and cupped her cheek, deepening the kiss.
Elvis and Kennedy continued to see each other and would constantly hang out secretly in Kennedy’s apartment since it was the most secluded and private place until Elvis asked her to be his. Kennedy said yes but insisted on it being fully monogamous, she knew how Elvis was with other girls and she didn’t want that, she wanted someone who will be faithful and true to her and Elvis agreed.
The oven dinged indicating that the cookies were ready. Elvis moved from between her legs and grabbed the dish towel, pulled the oven door open and pulled out the batch of cookies that Kennedy had just finished baking “Hmm, Hmm, Hmm.” He hummed while sniffing the freshly baked cookies “Probably my second favorite smell.”
“Huh and what’s your first?” Kennedy asked with a raised brow.
Elvis smirked, placing the batch of cookies on the kitchen counter and walked back over to Kennedy, standing between her legs once again. He leaned down and kissed down her neck, nuzzling her neck and sniffing her simultaneously “You.”
“I’m your favorite smell?” Kennedy giggled, running her fingers through Elvis’ hair.
“Uh huh.” He hummed against her neck and continued to kiss down her shoulder.
“Are you happy to be back in Memphis?” Kennedy asked him.
Elvis pulled back and cupped her cheeks “I am so happy. I’m ready to rot on that couch all weekend and just cuddle you.”
Kennedy grinned and kissed his soft, pillowy lips.
Elvis and Kennedy had dinner and got caught up after not seeing each other for a few weeks when he was filming Viva Las Vegas.
Kennedy placed the batch of cookies on a plate and scooped some vanilla ice cream on top, grabbing two spoons for her and Elvis. They both got settled down on the couch and turned on the TV to some random movie playing.
“Oh I missed this.” Elvis sighed, leaning back against the pillows and threw his arm around Kennedy’s shoulders, pulling her to him. He kissed the top of her head as she laid her head on his chest, placing her hand on his little belly.
“I love you.” Kennedy said and kissed his open chest.
“I love you too, Ken doll.” Elvis replied, running his hand up and down her arm. His favorite two nicknames for her were Ken doll and Kenny baby. Kennedy on the other hand hated nicknames but she didn’t mind it when Elvis gave her all sorts of nicknames when they had first met, finally sticking to those two.
Elvis tipped her chin back and kissed her gently. They made out for a while on the couch before moving to her bedroom.
It been a week since Elvis left again for Vegas when Kennedy spotted his and Ann-Margret’s face plastered on the first page of the newspaper with the words “Engaged” in big letters. Kennedy frowned, hating that people thought they were together, she never wanted to be in the spotlight but she still hated when girls were associated with her boyfriend. She then opened the newspaper and read the article, her heart sank to her stomach when she realized it wasn’t just a rumor from some random stranger instead it was Anne-Margret herself who had said those words.
Kennedy gulped and threw the paper in the trash. What the heck? Why the hell would she say that? Kennedy chanted in her head repeatedly that it wasn’t true but she was panicking slightly. Elvis and her had already fought over this topic when he first started shooting the movie and picture of him and her being all close were published and rumors started to swirl that they were together.
The phone rang and she knew it was Elvis but she was very upset and in no mood to argue with him. She instead chose to take a tub of ice cream to bed and just watch movies all day on her day off. She could hear the faint ringing of her landline but it was easy to muffle the noise when she increased the volume of the TV.
Elvis was in his dressing room on set when Jerry came rushing in “What the heck Jerry? Knock!”
“You need to see this.” Jerry said, ignoring what Elvis just said. He rushed over to where Elvis was sitting on the couch and handed him the paper. Elvis gave Jerry a confused look and grabbed the paper from his hands. He looked down at the paper and read the words that were plastered on the first page “What the fuck!” Elvis exploded, getting up from the couch.
Elvis threw the paper down on the coffee table and speed walked to Ann-Margret’s dressing room.
“Hi.” she smiled brightly.
“What the fuck is wrong with you!” Elvis yelled.
“Oh. You read the paper?” She smiled.
Elvis growled and punched the side of his fist against the door frame “Yes I fucking read the paper. Why the fuck are you going around telling people we’re engaged?!”
“It’s good publicity.” She whispered, feeling intimidated by this side of Elvis.
“I. Have. A. Girlfriend.” He said with a clenched jaw “You know that.”
“Yet, I’ve never met her.” Ann shrugged “And we clearly belong together.” She said running her hand down his chest.
Elvis gripped her hand and threw it off aggressively “Don’t touch me.”
Elvis left and rushed back into his dressing room, calling Kennedy’s landline while tapping his foot anxiously.
After an hour of the persistent ringing, it finally stopped indicating that Elvis had finally given up.
As the sun was setting a few hours later, heavy pounding shook the front door of Kennedy’s apartment. She huffed and shuffled out of bed, she looked through the peephole to find an angry looking Elvis standing on the other side of the door.
She rolled her eyes and opened the door “What?” she asked with a raised eyebrow.
“What do you mean what?!” Elvis growled, pushing the door open, slamming it against the wall causing a small dent to appear on the wall “I’ve been calling you! You haven't been answering.”
“I don’t think your fiancé would appreciate you talking to your side mistress.” Kennedy replied.
“You know that’s not true.” Elvis growled getting in Kennedy’s face but she stuck her ground, not really scared of Elvis no matter how scary he looked with his blue eyes turning a shade darker in rage, his nostrils flaring and his jaw clenched tight “You know that’s just publicity for the movie.”
“She knows you have a girlfriend right? You told me, you told her, right?” she asked.
“Yes.”
“Okay then why the hell would she go and say those things? That you proposed to her and that you two are engaged what the hell is that about?”
“I-I don’t know!” Elvis said and side stepped Kennedy to walk into her apartment, pacing in front of the TV “I don’t know why in god’s name she chose to tell those damn reports that!”
Kennedy sighed and closed the door of her apartment, their neighbors definitely heard Elvis’ yelling “You’re fixing that.” she pointed at the dent on the wall.
Elvis rolled his eyes and walked over to her, pulling her into his arms.
She sighed once again and wrapped her arms around his waist. He kissed the top of her head and swayed gently back and forth. Kennedy pulled away from his chest and turned her head up to look at him “Tell me nothing happened between you two.” she whispered, her heart raced at the question. Praying he would say nothing happened and nothing will ever happen.
“Nothing happened.” He gulped.
Kennedy winced “Elvis. Tell me the truth.”
“N-nothing happened.” He stuttered, his eyes watering as he spoke.
“Oh my god.” Kennedy whispered and shrugged him off, taking a step back from him “What happened?”
“It was one time.” Elvis whispered, biting down on his lower lip anxiously.
Kennedy’s lips trembled as she spoke “Was it more than a kiss?” she felt a lump form in her throat, her eyes filling with unshed tears.
“Baby.” Elvis said and took a step towards her. She took a step back and away from him, shaking her head at him.
“Elvis.”
“Yes. It was when we first started shooting the movie. B-baby I-I’m so sorry, honey. Please forgive.” Elvis’ voice cracked, fresh tears rolled down his face.
“You need to go.” Kennedy whispered, wiping the tears away from her face.
“What? No.” Elvis shook his head.
“Elvis.”
“No. I’m not leaving. You’re my girl and we need to talk about this.”
“Not anymore. I’m not your girl anymore.”
Elvis let out an audible breath, his eyes wide in panic “Kennedy.” he took a step closer to her, shaking his head “Honey, please.”
“Please go.” Kennedy’s voice cracked as more tears rolled down her face.
“Kennedy.” He cupped her face and kissed her.
Kennedy kissed him back before she pushed him away from her “Go.” she said and walked to her bedroom.
“Kennedy wait a second!” Elvis rushed after her but she had already slammed it shut and locked the door before leaning against it and cried into the palm of her hand.
“Kennedy please open the door.” Elvis said, knocking on the door “Baby. She doesn't matter. It was a mistake.”
“Please just go, Elvis.” Kennedy sighed, closing her eyes. Her heart couldn’t handle the heart break she felt at that moment and she wanted to cry out loud but not when Elvis can hear.
“I’m not going.” He sighed.
“Please.” Kennedy’s voice cracked, clenching her eyes shut.
“Okay.” Elvis sighed and leaned his forehead against the door “I’ll come back first thing tomorrow okay? It’s gonna be okay.”
“Don’t bother.” Kennedy replied which made Elvis wince. He placed the palm of his hand on his chest, above his heart and rubbed that area as if it physically ached him. He didn’t want to leave but he wanted to give her a break to breathe.
“I love you.” He gulped, wiping his tears and left, shutting the door behind him. Feeling his heart ache with unbearable pain.

Trying NOT to be obvious and ask for something with Diana (beloved) again, so how about a new girl - Freda, with "Cloying sweetness on the back of your tongue" from the Sensory Prompts, please?
Tumblr media
And she thought she was supposed to be the welcome wagon.
"Miss Fred, Miss Fred!" Two small boys came running up to meet her jeep, waiting at a respectful and safe distance until she'd turned the engine off and gotten her box out of the back. She was on the lunch run today, and the turkey and cheese sandwiches weren't going to keep if she left them out in the sun too long.
"Well, hey there, Adam. George. What's doing?"
"Have you got any extra doughnuts today, Miss Fred?"
Fred shrugged theatrically, setting the heavy box-tray down at her feet. "'Fraid I don't, fellas. But I do have these cookies - er, biscuits - the mess hall just finished making. I was bringing them for Ken and the crew but I might have a couple extra. How do you feel about chocolate chips?"
You could have knocked the boys over with a feather. "Chocolate CHIPS?? You make biscuits with chips in 'em, Miss Fred?"
"How do you get the chips to taste like chocolate? I think my mum needs that."
Fred cycled through a a moment of brief confusion until she realized the mistake. Chips…crisps…fries…oh.
"What, you fellas ain't ever had chocolate chips before?" Ken asked, coming out from underneath the engine with a grin on his face. "You're missing out. Are those all for me, Miss Fred?"
Freda passed over the container to Ken, who made a big show of opening it and investigating what was inside while the two boys looked on, still absolutely sold on the idea of cookies that somehow managed to have fried potato inside.
"Maybe if you're real nice to Mr Lemmons he'll share," Fred suggested, holding in a smile.
"Naw, I don't think so," Ken said, hamming along for the sake of the joke. "I think me and Wink and the boys are gonna eat 'em all ourselves."
"Yep," Wink said, nodding very seriously. "Takes a lot of cookies to keep one of these things flying, you know."
Ken made a noise and suddenly drew his hand out of the box like he'd been burned. "Oh, darn. Would you look at that. This one's broken. Definitely can't eat that now, Wink, it's spoiled."
Up went the waiting hands, the two boys practically bouncing in place. "We want it! We want it!"
"Are you sure?" Lemmons looked the both of them over with a skeptical look. "Eating broken cookies can be dangerous."
"We love danger!" George said, loud enough for the both of them.
"Well, all right," Ken said, like he thought he might regret this, carefully picking up the broken cookie like he was handling broken glass and gently depositing it into Adam's outstretched hands. "Looks like this one's broke, too, George. 'Fraid you're gonna need to take both."
Both boys bit down hard, chewing carefully to investigate. Adam frowned. "Why, this is just bits of chocolate."
"Well, that's what Miss Fred said, isn't it?" Lemmons replied, clearly enjoying himself. "Chocolate chips?"
"Ohhhhhh." The light finally went on, and the boys giggled, still eating their cookies with glee.
"Chalk one up for American English," Fred said, watching the two boys run off through the tall grass.
"I don't care what anyone says, those are still fries where I'm from," Wink declared, pulling another half a cookie out of the box in Lemmons' hands and chowing down. "Thanks for the grub, Fred!"
"You're really good with 'em," Fred said to Lemmons, sitting down on the tarmac in the shade of the wing and watching as the rest of the crew ambled over for the sandwiches and apples, pulling handkerchiefs out of pockets to wipe off oily hands. "The kids, I mean. Some guys wouldn't take the time." How many 19 year olds would stop and play with their kid brother of ten?
"Helps, you know? Keeping it all in perspective. And I figure, if you make 'em listen here, if you really need to keep 'em out of trouble they'll listen later, too. Might even learn something." Lemmons nodded, mostly to himself. Ken Lemmons, you're a wise man and a scholar. "You eaten yet?"
She smiled and shook her head, taking the cookie he offered and biting down slowly, the chocolate cloying and sweet on the back of her tongue, still just the tiniest bit warm and gooey. Shortage of sweet things in this world at the moment. I'm glad human kindness isn't one.

which of your characters is the best cook?
Wally, since everyone in his family helps in the kitchen so he naturally learned since he was a kid. He makes the best spaghetti ever.
Vi can cook, but it’s mostly comfort foods like grilled cheese and sloppy joes.
Boxcars cooks too but makes things like hot dogs dipped in homemade queso sprinkled with tortilla chips. Or biscuits stuffed with fried chicken that he dips in queso. He likes cheese.

7 African Americans who changed the way we cook and eat
February is African American History Month. To commemorate, we pay tribute to some of the African Americans in history who have made huge contributions to the way we prepare and eat food both here in California and all over the USA.George Washington Carver
Tumblr media
George Washington Carver – Agriculture
George Washington Carver pioneered the growth of peanuts as an alternative to cotton to help sustain the farmers and their families and as a way to promote crop rotation. While he may not have been the actual inventor of peanut butter (it had been made as early as the Aztec peoples in Mexico) his interest in botany made him one of the earliest environmentalist in his time.
Tumblr media
George Crum – Potato Chips
Purportedly, It was Crum who was responsible for creating potato chips as the customer he was serving at the time kept sending back his french fries for being too thick. Out of spite, he sliced a batch so thin, they became crispy after being deep fried. They were then brought to the customer, who actually enjoyed them, and thus one of the most popular snacks was born. Later in life, he opened up a restaurant in the resort towns of Malta, New York.
Tumblr media
Joseph Lee – Bread kneading machine Joseph Lee’s Bread Kneading machine Source:blackinhistory.tumblr.com
A  successful baker, restaurateur and hotelier, Joseph Lee invented a machine that would take day old bread and turn it into crumbs used for cooking into other dishes, later on, he would invent a machine that would knead bread dough more efficiently, which would result in a higher quality product. This machine is the predecessor to all modern day bread makers and, for his efforts, he received a patent for both.Ashbourne’s biscuit cutter
Tumblr media
Alexander P Ashbourne – Biscuit cutter
Something so insignificant as a cutter for biscuits might not be a big deal to us in the present, but during a time when biscuits were a staple on the dinner table, an invention like this ensures a consistently even batch each and every time. Another interesting fact: Alexander P. Ashbourne also patented a process for treating and refining coconut oil.Alfred Craelle’s Ice Cream Scoop Source: blackinhistory.tumblr.com
Tumblr media
Alfred Craelle – Ice Cream Scoop
Inspired by the ineffective way that ice cream was being served to customers at the time, Alfred Craelle was the first African American in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to receive a patent for his invention of a more efficient ice cream scoop.Source: Minnpost.com
Tumblr media
Frederick McKinley Jones – Refrigeration
in 1935, Frederick Jones created the first portable refrigeration units, making it possible to transport perishble items, including foods, over long distances. His creation saw heavy use in WW II not just for food, but for other perishables like medical supplies and blood packs.
Tumblr media
Wallace “Wally” Amos – Founder of Famous Amos cookies
Wallace Amos had an interest in cooking growing up with his aunt, he was especially interested in his Aunt’s chocolate chip cookie recipe. After a career in both the US Air Force and then William Morris Agency,  In 1975, Mr. Amos set up his first cookie shop with a $75,000 dollar loan from Marvin Gaye and Helen Reddy. After selling the original company, he now operates a new comapny called “Uncle Noname’s Cookie Company” and then later on, founding “Uncle Noname’s Muffin Company” with a former distributor of his original company.

~Excessively Twee Borderlands Headcanons: Cuisine Edition~
Gaige has a big appetite, yet can easily forget to eat when she's busy vault hunting or tinkering with robots. It usually fell to Axton to remind her to eat; while he may not be the maturest of men, he understands that the body needs fuel. Gaige has made some attempts at cooking, but her marshmallow and crisp spaghetti carbonara proved to be an acquired taste.
Amara loves Partali's spicy, aromatic cuisine. She laments that few of the Six Galaxies' take-away dishes come close to the authentic taste of dhal makhani and a keema paratha. Her appetite is enormous, however, and she could eat a kilogramme of lamb biryani while complaining it isn't as good as her personal chef's.
Claptrap can bake. He hands out a lot of side-quests to fetch him ingredients, which he turns into delicious, albeit messily constructed pies, cakes, biscuits and loaves of bread. If you're nice to Claptrap, a surprisingly tall order for some people, you'll seldom find yourself without something in the cupboard.
Moze likes soup.
Ava is a veritable gourmet. As a homeless child, her favourite foods were "not rotten" and "provided willingly", treats which she didn't always manage to scavenge. When Maya adopted Ava, she made sure to feed her up, and Ava's palate broadened to the full extent of Athenian cuisine. Now she is an adventurous eater who loves trying new dishes, but will pretty much eat anything within two basic criteria: "not rotten" and "not too many olives".
The basics of cookery are also known to Ava. Although it's hardly her favourite activity- hardly, perhaps, the sort of activity she'd admit to enjoying- she can make pasta, okonomiyaki, salad, scrambled eggs and other simple dishes with aplomb. She used to send Maya anonymous Mothers' Day breakfasts, for which she'd refuse to admit any responsibility, because no way was she ever going to be cute. Food love stories, brought to you by the Crimson Raiders.
Lilith enjoys spicy food and is quite good at cooking. She isn't a fancy chef, but can be relied upon to make a lovely fried breakfast, tossed salad, or burger and chips.
FL4K doesn't eat, but they take great pains to secure good food for their pets. Meat-Thief loves fish and chips, Broodless likes a fruit salad, Mr Chew has a taste for Lancer tyres, and Ms Loader Bot partakes in only the finest Lithium Ion Batteries.
Salvador is quite the chef, a barbecue expert and master of Mexican-influenced-part-of-Pandora cuisine. He can be very particular about his ingredients; no, you can't use skag liver instead of bullymong chops, it'll ruin the flavour profile of the whole meal. And what do you MEAN ketchup's another kind of mole?!
Tannis has seven perennial favourite foods: boiled eggs, carrot cake, toast with peanut butter, bananas, rice balls, Salvador's famous bullymong pancita, and sausages. She used to love bacon, but gave it up for personal reasons.
Roland was always an accomplished sandwich artisan, with the ability to house delicious combinations of ingredients between two slices of bread. Sometimes he took it to strange excesses such as the pie sandwich (or Wigan kebab), the spaghetti carbonara sandwich (or Sloppy Giuseppe), and the full English breakfast sandwich (or Sandwich That Annoys Lilith Because It's Just Missing the Point).

….i feel like I ended up in a romcom or a sitcom or a SOMETHING because my dinner experience has been utterly bizarre. GOOD, but unexpected and mildly confusing.
So I got off work, right, and my wife left this afternoon to go visit her grandparents so I’m on my own for dinner and I figure “oh I’m craving fish and chips and she generally doesn’t do seafood, I’ll go to red lobster!”
First thing: It’s a tiny bit slow getting my order taken bc they’ve got a big party that’s trying to pay separately and they’re obviously understaffed bc everyone always is these days. My server stops briefly as she passes to apologize for the wait. Then she takes my order and the kitchen, y’know, takes time to cook food. She comes by to apologize again for the wait, and to apologize for the wait on the cheddar biscuits bc she waited for a fresh batch to be done for me. I’m delighted because fresh from the oven cheddar biscuits FUCK YES. I tell her very sincerely that I am not in a rush and I’m just treating myself bc my wife’s out of town so I’m on my own for dinner, and that she doesn’t have to worry about me. She seems intensely grateful. Maybe she had a rough day and impatient customers? IDK but I go back to my reading.
Second thing: Manager comes out with my food. She says it was the last of the fried fish that had been prepped and it looked a little puny. I look at it. It looks like a perfectly serviceable size to me but okay. Manager says that because of that, and the wait earlier (I’d only been here like half an hour at this point, mind you), she’s comped the dish AND was having them prep and fry more fish so that would be out in a bit. I tell her she doesn’t have to. She says she insists. I thank her sincerely and set in. And when the fresh order comes, it is delicious but I can only eat like half of it bc I was right and the first one was plenty big.
Third thing: my server asks if I want dessert. I say Yeah, I’ll splurge, I order a brownie a la mode. She comes back with it and says she made it herself, “with extra love put in”. She is bubbly and sincere and pretty cute to boot. I grin and say I’m sure there is and tuck in. It’s very good. I can only eat about half but NOM.
Fourth thing: I ask for the check. My server asks if I want a container for the rest of the brownie. I say sure why not. She comes back with my check and a little container. “I didn’t put the brownie on there,” she says in a stage whisper as she hands me my check. I have been charged for one (1) overpriced cocktail and nothing else. My server apologizes the little container might not hold my whole dessert and says she scoured the back for something bigger but came up empty. She is delighted when the whole thing fits in the little container.
…Like, this was BIZARRE in the nicest way? I just don’t know how to process it all I think XD I in no way asked for any of this, I just came in with my ipad and sat there quietly and smiled and told them not to worry about apologizing for the wait with me because I was not in a rush and I knew how food service could be.
Anyway I’m leaving a tip like I paid full price for everything so hopefully this evening will be as nice a memory for my server as it was for me.

As someone who loves sweets, what fine desserts exist across Tamriel? I’ll bet the bosmer get super creative! And the Khajiit are sure winners.
Aside from candies and sweets, desserts across Tamriel reflect local tastes and vary in complexity, flavour, and texture.
Altmer
Dessert in Summerset is always served cool or chilled, and is bound to be just the right amount of flavourful and refreshing. Take, for example, the famous sorbet cups served everywhere from street corners in Alinor to posh dining tables. Some of my favourite flavours are candied cherry blossom, jasmine with dark chocolate chips, and mint with lime zest.
Argonians
Nothing beats the popping "onde-onde" balls beloved by Black Marsh residents. These sticky "cakes" are made of glutinous rice, and have a liquid coconut or palm sugar centre, and are liberally coated in shredded coconut. While small and easy to eat in a bite, the glutinous rice does get quite filling, so four is usually enough for dessert!
Bosmer
Custard, in its most perfect, creamy, glorious, silky form, is one of the staples of Valenwood desserts. Made with sugar mammoth cream and eggs, these lightly sweet custards are served as is, chilled, or topped with bacon bits for some crunch. My personal favourite is the non-Green Pact version of a creme brulee, where custard is drizzled with moon sugar and blasted with a flame spell until caramelised and crisp on top.
Bretons
The humble chocolate pastry is probably every Breton's favourite everyday treat, and for good reason. Sweet dark chocolate enveloped by buttery puff pastry is oh so simple yet oh so decadent. Best served with a cup of tea or coffee.
Dunmer
A traditional Dark Elf dessert loved by all from Mournhold to Windhelm is a deliciously weird "cake" made from a layer of sweetened glutinous saltrice, and topped with an equally-sized firm layer of marshmerrow custard. Served chilled, these "kueh salat" are enormously addictive and satisfying. One of my favourite desserts.
Imperials
Every Imperial dessert is enjoyable in my book, especially those containing a drop or two of something boozy. Take, for example, the humble tiramisu of Bruma. Almond and coffee and all things flavourful make up this rich, mascarpone-based cake, made traditionally with almond biscuits soaked in amaretto as a base. Topped with a mound of glorious cocoa powder, it's a sumptuous delight of a dessert.
Khajiit
Miso...caramel? Umami fermented soy bean paste meets rich moon sugar caramel for the ultimate flavour fusion that I certainly wasn't prepared for! Big batches of Miso caramel are always on hand in any confectioner's kitchen. It goes in everything from ice cream and cheesecake to being mixed with dulce de leche for an outrageously decadent pudding. On that note, I'll have one miso caramel pudding with a miso caramel cream coffee, thanks.
Nords
Steamed treacle pudding gets my vote as one of Skyrim's best desserts. Dense and gooey, and sometimes even drenched in mead, these puddings are served hot at every tavern (rivalling Breton sticky toffee pudding). Topped with whipped cream, the rich treacle is a real treat when poured over and infused into the rich butter pudding!
Orcs
Sweet potato pudding is a set custard infused with lots and lots of roasted sweet potatoes! Mashed and mixed into a plain creme patissiere, then swirled through with a spiced caramel swirl, these ganache-like treats are simply to die for (and you just might, if you try nick this off an Orc).
Redguards
Cardamom and saffron are ubiquitous in Redguard cooking, and this includes desserts. "Rasmalai", a dish made from fried, spongy patties of cottage cheese soaked in cardamon syrup, floating in a thick and sweet saffron and cardamom milk sauce. While it sounds a bit odd, rasmalai is a true treat for the senses, and is a rich and flavourful end to any meal.

When I’m feeling depressed, it can be nearly impossible to take care of myself, and that includes eating. Here’s a list of some foods that require little to no effort (aka: can be eaten right out of the package or just need to be microwaved), mainly for my personal reference, but also so others can find easier alternatives when they’re struggling.
Water bottles or canned water - stay hydrated!!
vegetables - green beans, peas, corn, black/kidney/pinto beans, chickpeas (all canned or microwaveable frozen bags) - I’ve also tried Harvest Snaps, which are baked snap peas & they’re v good
Fruit - grapes, raisins (or any other dried fruit like apricots/dates), mandarin oranges, apples, applesauce cups, bananas, pears, peaches, etc. (most fruits require no prep anyway, but especially if they’re canned - you can also buy frozen bags)
Canned soup or chicken, beef, or veggie broth
Pasta (ramen, spaghetti, mac and cheese, chow mein) or instant rice are my go-tos. You can buy these in individual cups or bulk packs.
Any microwaveable food - frozen/tv dinners, burritos, toaster strudels (they make an egg bacon & cheese version too!), mini pizzas, breakfast sandwiches… there’s a lot you could do here :)
Dairy - Yogurt, cheese sticks, (or just straight up eat cheese slices, there are no rules here), cottage cheese, almond/oat/soy milk, powdered milk (if you want something shelf-stable)
Grains & carbs - cereal, crackers, chips, popcorn, toast or bagels (I’ve eaten plain bread before tbh and it kinda slaps), Oatmeal (these packets are dinosaur themed & have little sugar eggs!! - https://www.quakeroats.com/products/hot-cereals/instant-oatmeal/dinosaur-eggs)
Nuts - peanuts, peanut butter, almonds, cashews, walnuts, trail mix, etc.
Meat - deli turkey, trail bologna, spam, jerky, frozen chicken strips or nuggets, Morningstar vegetarian corn dogs, canned tuna
Eggs
Fast food or take-out is also a good option if you don’t feel like making anything yourself.
A little tip - most foods you would take on a camping or hiking trip are great! for some, all you need to do is add water & heat it up. they are usually on the expensive side, though!! here’s some I’ve found that are decent:
https://mountainhouse.com/
Things to keep on hand for particularly bad days:
Boost/ensure/Soylent - liquid meals for when the idea of chewing or mixing anything is too much.
disposable cutlery/bowls/utensils so you don’t have more dishes to worry about.
Multivitamins
Liquid IV, Gatorade, or some other form of electrolytes. It’s too easy to get dehydrated!
If you do have a little energy to cook or make something, here’s some ideas:
If you have a blender: frozen spinach + frozen banana + shelf stable almond milk + peanut butter makes a great smoothie.
frozen fruit + frozen spinach/kale for smoothies
Adding whey protein makes it more filling.
dried pasta + jarred pasta sauce (Rao’s is low sugar and awesome, but pricey) + frozen meatballs
Boil tortellini on hand. Its as easy as boiling water. You can eat it plain, add a spoonful of pesto, sprinkle with a little olive oil or butter and some garlic salt, or pour it back in the pan after draining and add a little pasta sauce
frozen fried rice + frozen stir fry veggies
favorite frozen protein and veggies for sheet pan meals
canned refried beans with a tortilla and some cheese to microwave, can add extra toppings too
oatmeal + pb + dried fruit of choice
rice cakes + pb + jam (or substitute bread if you have it)
Rotisserie chicken in a salad, soup, sandwich or wrap
Frozen salmon with some veggies
air fryer foods - chicken nuggets, tenders, fries, etc. You can also toss different vegetables (baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc.) in a little olive oil and throw them in there
chicken broth & frozen dumplings - you can dress it up a little with some miso, soy sauce or other seasonings. You could also add some frozen vegetables.
snack type food - a combination of canned Garbanzo beans and black olives. The olives are salty enough that you can get low sodium beans and it will still taste good.
A lot of these ideas I stole from the good people of Reddit (particularly r/depressionmeals)!Here’s the post I referenced if you’d like to look further into it:
