Buck, drunk: I want you wrapped in my arms… like a burrito… be my bae-rrito.
Eddie: Please just go to sleep.
Buck, holding Eddie: Ok, but what about you being my boo-rrito, or my ed-rrito?
Eddie: Yeah, Buck, I'll be your edrrito.

Y'all practical effects bitches are really sleeping on the Mission: Impossible movies.
"Oh everything is CGI these days!" Mission: Impossible uses practical effects whenever it's safe to do so, and their definition of safe is incredibly skewed because Tom Cruise is, frankly, batshit insane.
The man refuses to use stunt doubles because he insists the audience can tell when it's not him. He's apparently one of the best stunt drivers in the world. He drove up a cliff and skidded to a stop right on the edge for real in Dead Reckoning. He got a fucking helicopter license and spent like three years training for the climactic scene in Fallout.
Most of the helicopter chase in Fallout was real. The midair oxygen-tank swap in that movie was also real. They practiced for it in a wind tunnel and then did the real thing in freefall.
When Tom Cruise dies, it's either going to be because he realized Scientology was a crock and tried to get out and they fucking killed him (highly unlikely that he'll ever come to that realization), or because his luck finally ran out while filming a stunt for a Mission: Impossible movie (significantly more likely).
Seriously, if you have the blu-rays of any of these movies, I strongly encourage you to watch them with the director's commentaries. Especially the ones directed by Christopher McQuarrie. That man has an almost pathological distaste for CGI (and when they do have to use it, he's incredibly respectful and complimentary of the people who do the special effects).
Do yourself a favor and watch these movies. They're not just kitschy action flicks. They're kitschy action flicks with a metric fuckton of practical effects, and a production team that really cares about the stories they're crafting.

Prompt 20
Jaskier is wasted. Absolutely shitfaced. Drunk as a
s k u n k.
Geralt is exasperated, but he can't be too mad at Jaskier. Jaskier's been acting kind of sad recently. Maybe he's working through another breakup. Geralt can be concerned, but he's not angry. He'll just roll his eyes a little and drag his drunk bard to their room and make sure he passes out on the bed and not the floor. Except drunk Jaskier has quite a lot to tell this mysterious new man who came and brought him to his room. Does this man know Geralt? He's sharing this room with Geralt, did you know, mysterious man? Oh yes, dear old Geralt, his bestest friend in the world... He's also MADLY in love with him. Terribly so. Hasn't had a fling in months, not that Geralt has noticed. (And shit.. He hadn't.) Jaskier is just so stuck on Geralt. Has been for years, but lately it's gotten so bad he can't even fuck around or flirt too much without just feeling... sad. But fret not, mysterious man. As long as you don't tell any of this to Geralt, I'll bother you with my sorrowful tale no longer :)
Jaskier wakes up with one hell of a hangover, and a suspiciously antsy and overly-friendly witcher. Geralt's clearly nervous to bring up something.. But what?

Okay.
I am incredibly drunk( I am safe at home with wayer, do not fret), and I sincerely apologize if the sincerity in this i lost bc of my inebriation, but I want to thank u all for following and liking and sharing my stupid little stores <3. It genuinely means the world to me and I wouldn’t still be writing and sharing my shit if no one liked it.
Whether u followed for bad omens or Lorna shore, it means the world to me, ESPECIALLY when I see the folks who followed for BO liking the shit i wrote for Lorna. I adore BO, but LS is my true end all be all reason for existing.
I’d you don’t follow my main, tune. Ur probably not aware of my tumoltuous mental health, but just know Lorna is a BIG reason I’m still existent, so it really means a lot when I seee ppl who followed for BO also vibe with the Shit I wrote for Will and Adam.
Again, I’m INCREDIBLY drunk and relying HEAVILY on autocorrect, so I apologize if shit is incoherent and jumbled. I just hope I all know I appreciate so so much regardless if followed for BO or Lorna <3. I missed fandom spaces a lot while I was away from Tumblr.

But the tragedy is that after everything that passed between us, I still love you. I carry so much love for you I am fit to burst, overflowing with it, and it's heavy and I can't just give it to someone else because it doesn't belong to them. I can't give it to you because you cannot accept it, and I respect that but darling what do I do with all this love that spills from me, flows from me, I feel as though I will spend my life drowning in all the love I cannot ever give you.

Gender as Ship Ranks and Titles: A Drunken Ramble from Yours Truly.
Not particularly edited in any way and very Raw in its creation. So please forgive the hideous nature that this piece is written and articulated in.
Dead Dove. Do not Eat.
Tumblr media
I have another weird influx of people resonating with the gender system of ship ranks and Naval History in several other groups and circles/communities I am in. And it's strangely wholesome right now because it has created an influx of individuals with varying degrees of understanding that specifically comes from Polar Exploration. This new influx is a bunch of Polar Explorers who have a particular niche interest in other Expeditions such as the Crozier-Ross Expedition, Terra Nova, the Ross Sea Party, Amundsen, Captain Scott, and Shackleton. So now, included in this, comes an influx from some people who attended Terror Camp and got to discuss some things with Francis Spufford who spoke about how strangely and very unexpectedly gendered it was on these Expeditions.
In my mind, despite the crews being all men, gender sort of melted away into ranks and how they provide for one another as individuals both through rank and their skills aboard the Expedition. He spoke a little about how the crews engaged with one another through almost "neo-gendered" roles that replaced conventional social structures and settings that you would normally have been seeing in the period appropriate binary that was so strictly enforced. From caregiving and support concepts as well as other nuanced aspects that were important for the crew and their social structures. This was because there was this immense amount of isolation and removal from conventional society and no other "binary" to compare themselves as individuals to. This removed gender altogether for the crews as they were so isolated and far from civilisation that such concerns, matters, and focuses were no longer an applicable structure. But still, yet, gender as a social structure plays a prominent role in understanding one another in a more social way and not a way to uphold "Gender Roles" or the "Gender Binary". It was not a necessity.
This was particularly true about the Shackleton Expedition and it seemed to impact a lot of others that have a sort of niche interest in the concept of gender associations that are expressed through varying "era's ship ranks". We observed this particularly with how some of the crew sought out very particular individuals and referred to them in almost an exclusive way where they connected the ship rank or the ship role to the crew member and began to exclude conventional pronouns in their journals. There was a fluidity to the way that they saw one another after being isolated for so long. The years spent away from the structures of conventional society meant that they needed to reinvent social society for themselves.
They could not afford to abide by the usual structures of society in the Polar Regions because it was not a safe way to survive.
The structures of Naval roles and Navy Ranks provided a good chain of command that could be relied upon as a narrative for who provides and does what for the expedition as well as the personality and entire energy of that individual.
Naturally, eventually, everything else fell away.
So there is this concept of conventional grasps of gender falling away entirely and no longer being useful to the societal structures that they once had. By extension, there is no need for the other concepts and structures that fit into the social binary. They don't exist. The Polar Regions are sterile. You are isolated. Without need of anything else but the chain of command to keep everything in a way that makes sense to the crew.

Maybe I’m just two martinis deep but I’m so glad I found this part of tumblr. I love hearing other people love the thing I love, ya know? Even when I disagree I’m like “yes we all love this show and we all have experienced a piece of art that had made us think in some way and that an incredible thing, combined with the kindness and artistic creation that has come from this fandom.
Anyway, love this place

I really like the line "And the universe said I love you because you are love" from the Minecraft poem, specifically for the word choice of "love" over "loved" the second time.
Because it's not saying you are worthy because of what other people think of you. It's saying you are worthy because of what you are. You are love, you are made of love, it's bursting at your seams and it's every bit of your being. You are love. You are love.

'Kay so when I first watched Agent Carter in 2015 back when it was brand new and Ana hadn't even been cast yet, I low-key shipped Jarvis and Peggy, on like an entirely conditional basis (i.e., if Ana were to die and then after some time had passed Jarvis and Peggy would connect over their shared grief of losing the loves of their lives and that would eventually blossom into romance etcetera), but then the moment we actually met Ana in season two I was like 'nope I totally get it now I get why Jarvis risked the noose for her she's delightful'.....
ANYway all that to say that after my many, many rewatches of this show, I honestly love Jarvis and Peggy's friendship so much more when it's read as entirely platonic. Like their genuine fondness (and utterly chaotic ride-or-die behavior) for each other is actually more interesting if there isn't anything romantic or sexual about it. They're just Like That and I think that's beautiful.

Folio isn’t a golden retriever boyfriend. He is a Labrador Retriever boyfriend. Very similar, but twice the energy and chaos but also so down to just lounge and be your best bud and be in your personal bubble all the time. Does not know the meaning of personal space.
