A Poet in Agony

Dear soul I am but a man full of desire, this passion it drives me, I search for peace, I find tranquility, I look up towards the hills and feel the sun's shine provide clarity and light. I sit and ponder, why is it that in all this warmth I still long for the coldness of night? Why do I allow the comfort of the moon to draw me in, am I but a muse of which he delights. My dear soul, I am a man of great complexities, a man learning the craft of self mastery, I do not seek to be understood, yet for those who understand I seek to provide much clarity. I have truths and secrets untold, they say that life is all but a mystery, But to the one whose eyes are opened, I know there is much to see. If only he may look, lo and behold, the wonders of life that lay before him. Dear soul it bleeds me to see my people suffer, to see our world in misery. Made slave to weak hearts and great adversity, were we not meant to live happily and freely? Why does this soul cry out in pain, why does this heart share mankind's agony? “ Good Job? “

Have you ever felt

Both pride AND shame?

It’s an interesting duality,

Wearing you down

Yet lifting you up

At the same time,

I feel a looming sadness

Scraping against

The backs of my eyeballs

Fighting for recognition,

We all just want to be seen

These same eyes I try my darnedest

To look at my self

As a semblance of

Something to be revered.

All is fair in love and war

Though this feels more

Concentrated on the latter

I TRY my best

But does that even matter?

I want to believe it does

I want to believe that

Putting myself out there

Is a victory in itself

I want to believe that

All we can ever do is

Try our best,

Then hope for

A similar reaction

In the universe

I want to believe that

The universe is keeping score

That after all these L’s

I’ll ultimately end up

With a win on the board

Although I know

This isn’t guaranteed,

Shame can be a monster

If you let it feed

I’m proud of you.-

The Purple Rose - A Poem

Perhaps one of the greatest Poems that will ever be written, The Purple Rose is a Symbolic work of Art written by the Saint Lucian Poet Daneille Louis. The Purple Rose There will come a time, where I like death shall be no more, A time of grief, but there shall be no loss. Do not look for me among the bushes, do not seek my thorns, For the skies shall be opened, the heavens shall pour. Let my petals travel freely to the beautiful Amor, Do not miss me for I shall be in my lover's arms, Where I belong; The Nightingale shall sing his song, And you shall see me not for who I was or who I was meant to be, You shall see me for who I am, you shall see my legacy; For I stroll with time, and along our course we do not run, They say surely nothing lasts, that has been kissed by the sun.
