it definitely took kokomi some getting used to. at first she was kind of hurt by just how often kusuo would deny her requests or disagree with her, but after a while she started understanding it from a new perspective. he's not being disrespectful, in fact he's being exactly the opposite. he's showing her that his love is not based on his perception of her, but rather on who she truly is. the time they spend with eachother isn't based on a desire to worship kokomi, but the activities they enjoy with each other and a genuine appreciation for the time spent with one another. of course, kusuo's going to have to do some things he may not want to do, but so is kokomi. in a relationship between two people regarded as higher beings for once they can regard someone as their equal. and thats everything to them.

they teach eachother to be open in different ways. kusuo teaches kokomi that it's okay to be negative sometimes, that she's not any less of a person for getting upset. he teaches her that the most perfect person she can be is her authentic self, and that having negative emotions is natural and doesn't make her worse in any way. just like how kokomi teaches saiki to look at things from a more positive perspective, she helps him learn to see the beautiful side of things he once regarded as ugly. she teaches him that being kind and accepting people into his bubble will not harm him, and will in fact make him all the better.

they bring out each other's most authentic selves. theyre both terrified of being so open about the worst parts of themselves but not once does the other judge them. they think that the other is all the more beautiful for it. they accept each other's flaws and find them endearing in a way.

their love for eachother is soft and gentle, it's something they can always return to for comfort and oftentimes do.

kokomi helps kusuo to be vulnerable, even if just with her. she provides a safe space for him to be his truest self without even a shred of disregard. she shows him that she cares and that no matter what he does she will not love him any less for it. she shows him how it feels to be accepted for his powers and not to be made into anything for having them. not a monster, not a god, not selfish, not selfless, nothing. she lets him define himself, not his powers.

I've been trying to become closer to God lately! One of the things is... can I still have an identity outside of my Christian faith? I know Jesus calls us to love God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and I genuinely would love to! However, my brain tends to take things to the extreme (I have OCD, so this is a common theme for me even outside of my faith). I guess I'm just scared that if I love God wholeheartedly, will I lose different aspects of my life other than faith? And if I do have other aspects of my life other than my life, does that mean I'm not actually loving God with all my being as Christ calls me to do?

Hi there, so sorry for the delay! This is an excellent question, and here is my answer (yes, in meme form lol, I couldn't resist):

If a faith community or leader is telling you to let go of things that bring you joy, that nourish your God-gifted creativity and uniqueness, that help you connect to the larger world in your own distinct way...run, don't walk, to the nearest exit. That's not a faith community that is invested in Jesus's design for abundant life for all beings (John 10:10).

Loving God and following after Jesus doesn't mean relinquishing what makes us us — God makes us us, bestows unique gifts upon each of us, because God delights in diversity!

We can't have community without distinct parts that come together into the whole. We can't have relationships — with God, with other humans, with all Creation — without having a self out of which we relate to the other. So cultivate your identity — your true identity, liberated from a pressure to conform to capitalism and other evils; and seek ways to support others in achieving their truest selves.

Instead of seeing some parts of your life as "outside your Christian faith," learn to see even the most mundane elements of life as part of how you live out your love for God. Maybe you love making jewelry, or cute lil comics — take the time to feel gratitude towards the God who gifted you that creativity; or use your art to bring a smile to someone's face. Maybe there's a piece of fiction that you're really into — what lessons does it teach you about how to live in relationship with others, or how can you cultivate kindness in the fandom community? Maybe you have a really distinctive sense of humor; use it to cheer someone up who's having a bad day. And on and on.

I direct you to this post where I talk more about how we bring our individual identity into our relationship with God and God's community.

For instance, there's this quote from theologian Shirley Guthrie in Christian Doctrine:

Guy Crimson and Ramiris are incredibly similar in the regard that they love bragging, though for Guy, not as vigorously and bluff filled as the fairy queen always explains. Displayed on his trophy case for all to perceive and believe, stuffed in the faces of the other Demon Lords. Pretends he's unaffected, (Sticking his finger even longer in the mud if you manage to really rile him up, it's never for too long however) pretty effortless in spite of your clingy nature, but it's just another day at the office. Any way you seek him out, Guy is unfastened from any main form of tenacious contact since he isn't physically picky in the slightest and practices an extraordinary amount of patience for your proceeding attempts to catch him off guard. In fact, you're encouraged to get as energetically clingy as possible. Guy strives to uncover all your multiple states of personal desire surrounding your romantic relationship, how you go about test your flexibility and mental limitations. Even when it may risk seemingly tilting him over like a Jenga tower-assuming you can, considering his insane level of demonic prowess-he will mindlessly laugh you off as a joke. Burying your head in his neck, he covers you in his musk. A strong masculine scent, a marker. Striking to the human senses, reek of demon bloodlust and ability, you dare not forget it. Your nostrils flare and twitch, but not in irritation. His hands pet your hair, stroking it lovingly. He isn’t picky, whichever way it goes. There aren't a lot of things Guy Crimson is personally threatened by. Fear even less. Guy is a lot of things himself, one of such is protective. Thieves have no honor. He may deride and joke like a jester would but presents no mercy to those who aim to steal his rightful claim, his betrothed one. You won't let go, nor will he, not without a fight. The new moon is coming up so I want everyone to know this

The stellium: Sun, Neptune, Mercury, & the Moon

will be making a sextile with pluto

Expect life changes here in these areas with self expression, emotions and the mind.

It will be in Aries so it'll be time to set new intentions for the next month ahead, as there will be an eclipse on the 20th of April.

With venus conjuncting the north node, this new moon is asking for us to step out of our comfortable zone as new horizons await us. It isn't til we come out of the darkness and allow our truest selves to come to the light we become blessed with what the universe is willing to show us.

Be mindful that this is the time to have a vision for what you want as the sun and the moon will be at 0 degrees Aries. Pisces energy is strong with saturn moving into pisces so we must be realistic about what we want and then visualize it so it can become reality.

Patience, patience, patience.

Saturn is making a sextile with the venus/north node conjuncting. This will all pay off ! Keep going and keep pushing. Anything you start now you will notice you'll be doing it for the next 2 years. So pay attention to your creative energy and where its going because it'll all pay off in the future.

With venus squaring pluto expect passionate energy to be up in the surface especially with relationships. People may end their partnerships with others to embark on a new journey and come out greater than they were before. Toxic family, friends and lovers may be put on hold due to a reflective period going on for the next month or so.

Mars being in gemini wants us to pick up the pace, while saturn in pisces wants us to slowwwww it down. You need to balance this energy and figure out which way to express it because there will be times you will need to utilize all your energy for a particular goal and there will be times you must except slowing down is better than burning yourself out.

Lilith in Leo is bringing the fire out of the shadow and we will see peoples desires be a theme for this month, expect some people to go crazy as some people cannot handle this hot energy coming in. Lilith is out for whats hers, so all lilith placements especially strong lilith holders will be going up in flames potentially reeking havoc but it'll be for something deeper than what we can fathom.

Jupiter in Aries asks us to have faith in our beliefs and dreams and just to go for it. it doesn't have to be perfect you just have to put your faith into it and watch how everything works out for you in the end.

Uranus is in taurus so expect everyone to reinvent themselves, their own realities and styles will be changing. Forgive the random ask, but a thought occurred to me earlier - are there any references/easter eggs/inside jokes that you've put into your work that you are especially proud of (and are happy to talk about), which you don't think anyone has picked up on/commented on ?

I know there are little bits in mine that I've added in which seem to have gone beneath the radar (like Joe's mother-in-law's name being Maeve in "She", which only you noted, I believe), but I was wondering what I'd missed of yours

bring on the random ask! i really do love the random asks, and especially ones that ask me about my writing. though, then i end up writing an entire essay when it wasn't called for, like i did here. but you asked!

i think most of my easter eggs are self-referential, i.e. details that i've mentioned off-hand in other fics that come around again, or even just repurposed ideas from drabbles that i work into a longer fic. i do also love to pull from erin's diary when i can. i'm not sure what's been picked up on or not, but here are a few that come to mind:

1. i have my own private joke that erin has never, and probably will never actually see armageddon all the way through. it plays a role in smoke break and in the most recent posted chapter of someday. she just always seems to get a little too distracted. 2. james brings erin apple turnovers in both personal space and someday because he thinks they're her favorite. they're not; per erin's diary, they are only the third best bun in derry (though she does like them, and even more that he brings them to her).

3. personal space itself as a fic is going to be referenced pretty significantly in the upcoming someday chapter, and i've always meant for it to be a sort of mirror to someday with the "erin and james make a film" premise. throughout the entire maybe someday series, there is/will be a theme of writing letters that don't get sent (and then those letters being found 👀). with the written letters (and to an extent in the upcoming chapter, james's camera), the idea is that james and erin can reveal their truest selves when there is something between them that can mediate/create a barrier. there's some imagery in the last someday chapter that i was proud of, where james feels like the dark of the motel room feels like a veil, or a confessional partition, and this perceived barrier between them allows them to take action that they've wanted to take. they'll eventually get to where they can just say/do some things directly, but i've been intentional about weaving the different ways they have to talk through to each other, rather than just to each other, and the "secret" letters are a part of that.

4-6. there are a couple of easter eggs that haven't been posted yet because it's in the next someday chapter (so here's a preview), but: erin will use an inane excuse of needing to get home to "bleach the coffee cups," which is a reference to mary frantically trying to prepare the house before the clintons visit derry; and there's a reference to a photo of erin painting james's nails at a sleepover which is a call out to something that happens in one of derrygirlstrash's fics. in making moves and in the upcoming someday chapter, i reference james dressing up as daphne from scooby doo for halloween; this is pulled directly from a joke in erin's diary.

i feel like i'm missing some big ones, especially because i'm always referencing something when i'm writing, but these are what came immediately to mind!

the brainworms got me again so I have come to ramble about sk8.

I simply think that it is SO NEAT how the show uses S as a way to represent the true self, and how their personas let them be their truest selves. 

Reki is always himself as I see it. He has his insecurities, but he is unapologetically HIMSELF. He is loud and excitable about his interests, and when he is feeling something he shows it.

Langa uses skateboarding to FIND his true self. When we first meet Langa, he is lost in himself and his grief, and just wants to live quietly. Then he finds skateboarding which helps bring back a passion and want in his life. He smiles, and laughs, and makes mistakes and its thanks to skateboarding (and Reki) that he feels ALIVE again.

then we have MIYA. I think people don't put a lot of thought into Miya, but he is such an interesting character. He is a child prodigy, always putting on a smile for interviews and award ceremony's even when he is so lonely and hurting. Then we see him at S being a complete little shit. he’s cocky and acts his age and plays game and bullies his friends but cheers them on with his whole heart when he sees them as his friends. Because of S he finds friends that let him be his annoying and bratty self, because they know he is just a kid figuring himself out.

AND CHERRY. I love cherry's character so SO much. He is a professional in such a traditional field, he is always held to such high standards that he constantly has to upkeep. He has mastered the customer service smile, but at heart he is a grumpy punk. Because we actually get to see him as a teen, we know that cherry is a punk and more alternative than his fashion lets on. and when we see him skating at S he doesn’t force a smile for anyone. He is grumpy and fights with joe any opportunity he gets, but still happily takes on the role as mentor and gives advice to Langa and Reki when he thinks its useful. He doesn't have to be anyone but himself.

Joe is most similar to Reki. He is who he is, and he is passionate about it. He’s a flirt, a lover of food and a man made of muscle, but he is still a professional who does his job with a smile. At S, he’s just there to have fun and cheer on his friends, making bets with cherry or mentoring the others

Adam. Oh Adam. His is the most OBVIOUS divide between real life and him at S. He is a politician always chasing his family's and the publics praise, even if he does bad things to get it. Yet, even inside of S its all a persona and we always see his loud eccentric self hide away once nobody is looking. He is loud and aggressive and powerful at S, seeming like nobody could ever best his abilities until he meets Langa. Yet even when skating, he forgets what S is all about, and stopped having fun along the way and used it as a way to put all of his hurt and frustration and ‘love’ into something other than himself. Adam at S is both a persona and mixture of his entire life mixed into one and its SO INTERESTING TO ME!! I like to think that rediscovering how FUN skating is might help him find his true self again instead of always trying to be whatever everyone else wants. 

Tadashi is short but sweet. Outside of S he puts everything above himself. When he skates at S as Snake, he gets to be selfish. He does things against orders for what he thinks is for the best of the person that matters to him. I hope in the future he gets to be selfish more!

I really admire your meta and I have no one else to geek out with about KP, so I hope you'll please bear with me. I'm almost positive you would include this scene in your Lines meta, so I apologize if I'm only repeating what you intended to write.

Did you notice the sudden reflections of Pete and Vegas' scene at the very end? I'm a former film editor and film student, so I'm geeking a tiny bit lol.

The first transition happens when Pete first moves closer to Vegas and then the second transition happens when Macau interrupts, then a third transition during their family cuddle. <3

I cannot get over the visual narrative this really simple transition. It was so jarring at first, but like it actually makes so much sense and it's genius and I am so mad about it.

Vegas and Pete bring out each other's most authentic selves. They are the only ones who truly see each other for who they are and everyone else will only see what is reflected on the surface.

So when Pete moves into Vegas' space and we see the first transition, it's almost like they enter their own world """inside the mirror"""?

It's like such a subtle visual way to imply "I am not hiding anything from you. This is my truest, most vulnerable self before you."

The second transition then feels like stepping out of that "mirror" world and back into their every day world. Macau interrupts to tease them and suddenly Pete's reassuring smiles returns and Vegas' authoritative tough guy/big brother voice comes out, etc. Gosh I hope I'm making sense.

The last transition just gives me so much hope for them. After the transition, you see that they have this beautiful little moment of genuine, honest affectionate joy with each other. No masks, no roles, no pressure. I cry, I weep, I sob, I wail.

Three transitions were all it took to get me foaming at the mouth, climbing up the walls, howling at the moon, bellowing into a cavern. The editing direction this episode certainly gets a chef's kiss from me.

Anyways I will leave you alone. Thanks for humoring me and my ramblings. Feel free to throw in your thoughts as well :)

On this most romantic of days, I wish upon you two only peace and happiness. Through fire you both become your truest and happiest selves, and you deserve only the best! Please accept my congratulations on your continued relationship and for your daughters! I did a double take when I heard how many there were - five? The thought of Daeran taking care of even one child made me chuckle. That you two are managing five? I’m so happy for you both. Dae has come farther than I would have ever thought - yes I know you’re reading this Dae you could barely even take care of yourself when we first met so don’t get insulted.

Hopefully someone can watch the girls to give you two some alone time on this day. I’d be more than happy to visit to watch them sometime if you needed a little weekend trip away! It would be nice to get out of Citadel Darvhage for a while - though Regill might disagree. And by that, I mean lonely, though he won’t ever admit it. 

Regardless, hopefully this wine and these cheeses reach you in good health! I’ve also included some fascinating grimoires I came across recently that were slated for destruction by the knights. A very happy Valentines Day to you two as well. It brings me joy to see you both finding fulfillment. Hopefully the two of you can fulfill your duties for today with enough time to take some time to yourselves. Daeran says to let him know if he needs to set Regill straight.

I shall pass on your regards to my daughters. They were truly… unexpected. Daeran seems to have recovered from having his sou shattered. It has been a difficult time for all of us. He and I do have plans for today. After all we’ve been through, we need it. I am certain the girls would be delighted to meet you. We always have room for you in the Arendae estate.

The wines and cheeses have been exquisite. I am tremendously grateful that you thought of me for the tomes. If it isn’t too much trouble to send them over, they always have a place in my library. I hate to see literature of any sort get destroyed. I hope the brandy and macarons made it to you. My daughters have also taken up drawing and embroidery. I hope you don’t mind the mud stains, and be careful of any thorns. Daeran also included a package that he says will “set Regill’s Bleaching back by a hundred years”. I am still unsure as to what he means. Just…be prepared.

Day two! This is Lepidoptera, the Goddess of Individuality! She’s an ascended changeling, and works to help people bring out their truest selves! She isn’t super big, and probably never will be, but if she were to stretch out as much as possible, she could theoretically disguise herself as Luna during the first couple decades after her return so long as no one grabbed a really long tape measure. She has zero reason to do that though.

I’ll probably get into more detail on her later :D

The way he turns on this charm toward them, it really brings home for me not only the fact that he’s a really good actor, but the fact that we are only ever truly ourselves, to ourselves. Every person we interact with, every space we interact in, is a construction. We are all, always, on stage. Now, in some people, and some situations, this is more obvious than others, but when i think about it, even with the people who know what I would consider to be the truest version of myself, am I not thinking about them, too? I’m communicating the person I want to be for them, even if that’s not always my natural response, or thought, or impulse.

THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVE. I feel like when we get into questions of our true self, the perception is that the true self is the most desirable, and I do not hold that out as true. Most people’s true selves are a bit selfish, and sometimes catty, and inconsiderate. FRANKLY, I think most Americans at least could do with a little more construction of the self as an ideal. Most of American culture is particularly guilty of this masturbatory fantasy of being ‘real’ as the goal, and like, respectfully speaking, it makes us insanely annoying from time to time. “Because this is what makes me individually more comfortable” is not necessarily what I consider a great way to look at life.

Kali Ma-Goddess of Truth

Kali Ma is my Matron Deity and I have worked with her for the past 20 years. She came to me early on in path of Witchcraft. At the time I knew next to nothing about Her. I still remember that night quite clearly like it was yesterday. The group I was working with at the time had set up the altar for that night. The presiding Priestess was a follower of Kali and placed her image at the center of our Altar. I was completely entranced by her. There was some fear and also comfort I sensed from Her divine presence. I couldn't really explain it but it was plain to my then High Priestess that Kali was calling to me. She allowed me to take her statue of Kali home with me until I was able to get one of my own and the vary next night began my deep dive into the universe that is Kali Ma.

After I spend some time mediating on Kali's image and energy I felt the shift begin. At first I was fearful since her iconography was terrifying to my western eyes at the time. Yet I also felt safe and protected. As time went on I began reading several books about her, especially about the Hindu culture that she comes from. Some of the info about her was from those who where Her devotees and others were just simply from Hinduism. Even within the Hindu tradition there were many cultural taboos around her which only reflected the fear from those, who while growing up within the tradition that still venerates her today, also carries with it many fears around Her imagery.

Kali Ma is a very ancient Goddess, who most likely originated as an Indian tribal Goddess, intimately connected to the power and beauty of our Mother Earth, who was later assimilated into the structure of the Hindu religion bringing with it taboos that later became attached to Her.

Kali is the personification of all that is creation and destruction. She is the Earth itself, untamed and wild who takes as much as She gives. The universe is Her womb of creation from whence all things are born in the sea of cosmic potentiality and possibility. Her skin is black like the darkest night for we can never truly understand her deepest nature. She takes our fears, ignorance and pain and transforms it into course, truth and strength. As a matter of fact, I believe that is what most people fear, They fear truth. We do our best to ignore the deep truths of live and spend so much time encased in the delusions that are fed to us by a technological and controlling society that wants to keep us ignorant and wanting of so much material garbage that they tell us will somehow makes our lives better, make us more beautiful and maybe someday live forever! Of course all of this is in vein because the truth is much more harsh. Life is fleeting, material goods come and go and death is an absolute. The only way out is within. Through recognizing our true selves and our place within the universe we can find our strength, courage and real self. Through Kali we must first face our fears before we can embrace our courage. Yes Kali is blackest of black in the night sky. From a distance she can be difficult to see but the closer we get to Her, the more we embrace our truest selves and Her infinite Divine Love we will begin to see that beyond the darkest night She is the brightest star in the Sky!. Kali Is Truth.
