that devastating feeling of hearing a breakup song / heartbroken song and thinking of a platonic friendship instead of a romantic relationship

THE LAST ONE!! The last song from this collection!! I thought it was going to take me forever but I've gotten better at this and it wasn't that bad, especially because I didn't want to do anything fancy with this. It feels like I've been working on this project forever--- it's been over three years--- and I'm so happy to be done. I'm ready to start working on the songs that I've written more recently, that are more relevant to my life now, and that I can play at open mic nights.
Lyrics below the cut :)
She used to share my bed, now I’m sleeping on my own
I thought that I’d forgotten how to smile when alone
Eight months later, I’ve remembered no one is a home
I was never made of stone
She isn’t still my lover but I still call her a friend
And we made no empty promises to never love again
Sometimes a bond needs space to bend
Not every ending is the end
I would’ve given anything to have her by my side
When she left I thought I’d failed before I’d had the chance to try
I thought it was forever when she finally said goodbye
But changes don't mean that it died
She isn’t still my lover but I still call her a friend
And we made no empty promises to never love again
Sometimes a bond needs space to bend
Not every ending is the end
Finally I'm moving on
Leaving doesn't mean I'm gone
Erased lines can be redrawn
Setting suns bring a new dawn
She isn’t still my lover but I still call her a friend
And we made no empty promises to never love again
Sometimes a bond unbroken needs space to bend
Not every ending is the end
Not every ending is the end

Me: listening to music
Breakup song: exists
Me: about to hit skip
My hyperfixation riddled brain that can't let anything exist without making it into a reference about my favourite things: What if it was about your favourite ship
Me: ...you motherfucker.

i love it’s a beautiful day by michael bublé because it is the most gorgeous “fuck you” song i have ever heard in my life
like it sounds like such a pretty love song what with the horns and the vocals but it’s literally michael telling his ex that she’s s toxic bitch and he’s better off without her. i love it this is how angry breakup songs should be
