Artists Have To Own Their Power - Erica Wernick
Film Courage: Erica, would you mind reading a page or two from your book?
Erica Wernick, Personal Coach, Author and Speaker: I just so happen to have it on my lap right here. I would be happy to! I’m like a teacher This is chapter 16. It’s called Own Your Power.
Your dream comes from the most powerful place, you. It’s borne from divine inspiration, one of the most powerful forces in the universe. This calling becomes a burning desire, one that gives you ambition, perseverance, drive and even compassion in a way you’ve never felt before. It helps form that most powerful version of you there ever was. And yet the moment it becomes an impossible feat you have to achieve the power is immediately stripped away. It’s your superpower and kryptonite all in one. But the stripping of your power is really an illusion. It’s a choice to give away and a choice you don’t have to make…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).

What Kind of Times Are These - Adrienne Rich
There's a place between two stands of trees where the grass grows uphill
and the old revolutionary road breaks off into shadows
near a meeting-house abandoned by the persecuted
who disappeared into those shadows.
I've walked there picking mushrooms at the edge of dread, but don't be fooled
this isn't a Russian poem, this is not somewhere else but here,
our country moving closer to its own truth and dread,
its own ways of making people disappear.
I won't tell you where the place is, the dark mesh of the woods
meeting the unmarked strip of light—
ghost-ridden crossroads, leafmold paradise:
I know already who wants to buy it, sell it, make it disappear.
And I won't tell you where it is, so why do I tell you
anything? Because you still listen, because in times like these
to have you listen at all, it's necessary
to talk about trees.
What if I told you that you’re the only person that wraps sunflowers around my bones. What if I told you that you’re the only person that helps my head feel like it’s not stuck in a storm in the middle of the Atlantic. What if I told you that I’ve fallen for you, but I’m scared of loving you because I haven’t learned how to love myself.

Like Best Friend's Older Brother Romances? https://t.co/acuYwfrrQQ?amp=1
The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. 💫
Rating: 4/5 🌟
Danny and Maeve, the Conroy siblings, have lived in the Dutch House their entire childhood. When their stepmother throws them out of the house, the brother and sister have no one but each other to clung to. This story revolves around their life and the love they had for each other. They were truly comfortable only when they were together. Wherever they went and whatever they did, they always came back to the house. No matter how much they tried they never could overcome their past. Their relationship is finally tested when they had to confront the people from their past who had left them behind.
A story, set in mid 1900s, about a family and a sibling relationship full of love, pain, heartbreak and struggle. The house was the center of the story and a significant part of their lives. They just couldn't escape it no matter how much they tried. It was an absolutely beautiful story. 💫💕

Book Recommendation #1
Goodreads | Book 1 Book 2 | Tanaz Bhathena
The Wrath Of Ambar Duology by Tanaz Bhathena is one of my most favourite YA fantasy series' ever!! This book series is set an Indian (& Persian) culture and Hindu mythology inspired world, and it is UNPUTDOWNABLE!
There is a distinct lack of books that are *not* retellings of the Mahabharata when it comes to books which take inspiration from Hindu Mythology, and to find this series when I was getting incredibly frustrated with Indian-inspired fiction was a boon, honestly!
Bhathena does an incredible job of building a world that's complex and does not shy away from talking about the more cruel parts of Indian culture. She touches on the atrocities of the cast system and the rampant misogyny, but at the same time, she does not demonize the "common man" as it were. Everyone has a responsiblity to be receptive to change, but the government has a duty to bring that change about, and this book does a great job of showing how sometimes governements keep opppressive systems in place for their own gain.
While all this political and social commentary is heavy and present throughout, there is also some really fun banter, a sweet romance and a very interesting magic system in this series! The story is pretty much your standard Chosen One narrative, but it really did not get the least bit boring for me! Not because of the plot itself, but because the setting and the characters make it so engaging that you just want to keep reading!
Bhathena has talked about how she took inspiration from The Gulabi Gang for the group of all-female rebels in this book called The Sisterhood of the Golden Lotus. Which is like. HELLO??? These women are The Coolest™ part of this series and I adore them so much!!!
I definitely liked the first book more, mostly because it is a story that's character driven and it lets you explore Ambar as a setting and ~feel~ it out a little. The sequel is very plot-intensive and super fast paced, and I felt a little disconnected to all these characters I had grown to love for a good quarter of the book. It didn't dampen the enjoyment of the series that much for me, but it did feel like a little step down from the first book, so....you know.
Overall, though, this series made for a super enjoyable reading experience and made me feel all warm inside because it had characters who looked like me and dressed like me and ate like me in it!! I genuinely forgot that I was reading a book in English, tbvh. Like I'd read a very angrezi word and then realize that 'oh, wait, this isn't hindi!' That's how immersive it was!!!
LASTLY, WOULD YOU LOOK AT THOSE COVERS, HELLO???
(I A M D E C E A S E D)
Definitely pick this lovely series up if you're someone interested in Young Adult fiction because you're gonna have a great time! Also hmu if you've read and/or are reading these books and would like to scream about events etc.,
Rising Like A Storm releases on the 22nd of June, 2021. Links to purchase Hunted By The Sky and pre-order Rising Like A Storm from book depository are up there, if you're interested!
PS: Do NOT read that first book when you're hungry because there is a lot of decadent Indian food described and it will make you want to just eat the book.
CWs: mentions of physical and sexual abuse, torture, death, mild gore, panic attacks, PTSD, casteist and misogynistic violence.

Sometimes I wonder if my words are worth anything or they are just a lost lament that inks the pages with nothing but delusions and heartbreak. I wonder sometimes if I am nothing but lost in the dark heart of sadness and why did I ever dare show my words the light of day. Once my hands were silent and I kept them all inside. Was I such a fool to let them come out? Before they hurt but now it's so much more and sometimes I wish I could just forget how to weave them together because sometimes they weave themselves into flowers but sometimes they weave themselves into sharp edges that make me cry. A poet's is not an easy life.

Wanna be my friend..
Looking for friends. I follow back
I’m looking for friends. I have autism and been abused (in al forms) by pretty much ever friend I have had. I’ve been called annoying and the R word.
I’m looking for tumblers to follow that have the same interest as me and to meet fellow geeks and nerds.
I am new to Tumblr. I really don’t know how to run a blog (I know, I know awkward for 20 something year old right?)
I’m just looking for somewhere to fit in. I never seemed to fit in anywhere. I thought maybe I’d give tumblr a chance.
I like fanfiction. I haven’t wrote in 12 years, but decided to get back into it. I post the link to my fanfictions on my blog
I sadly seem to come into fandoms late- always late to the party.
I love Merlin, Once Upon a time, Disney, Marvel (Irondad and Ironwinter), Narnia, The Dragon Prince, TrollHunters, Jurassic park: camp cretaceous, Loud House, How to train your Dragon, Netflix’s the baby sitters club, Carmon sandiego, Jule and the phantoms, Dragon heart, LOTR, harry potter
I ship: Merlin/Arthur (Merthur), Bucky/Tony (Ironwinter), Harry/draco (Drarry), Aragorn/legolis ( Legara), Bucky/Sam (winter falcon), Strange/Tony (ironstrange) to name a few.
I also love: Adult fantasy, Grimdark, Coming of age fantasy, Epic fantasy, children’s books, some YA books.
My favorite series: Black Thorn Key by Kevin Sands,
I love to receive prompts from the fandoms above and ask from people though I am shy.
Also I would Love to follow you if your into any of these!
I will Follow back (follow for a follow)
I WILL NOT FOLLOW ANY ADULT (MATURE THEMED) TUMBLRS!
I hope to find my place on tumblr soon!
30 Days of Witchcraft - Days 7 & 8
For day 7 I read some more of Magick from the mat and lemme tell you I've got thoughts about that one. The more I'm reading the worse I feel about it.
My deck has thoughts about the upcoming week as well it seems like. Three cards, two of them Major Arcana, and all three are reversed... I mean it didn't read like a week of doom but I def gotta be wary and keep checking in with myself. But not too much. That's a fine balance to keep.

The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry.🐍
As I have just finished reading it, here's a quick review-
I found the novel beautiful in parts. Set in Victorian Era, it's primarily a story about friendship - in all shape and form. Science and religion, facts and myth wonderfully mingle during the course of the novel. The story builds up steadily, pulling you right into the daily life of the characters. But I felt the ending kind of fell flat, after that promising build up. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading it, and now I'm really looking forward to the Apple TV adapted series, starring Tom Hiddleston as William Ransome and Claire Danes as the protagonist, Cora Seaborne.
Also, on another note, how GORGEOUS is that book cover!! It's so aesthetically pleasing, with a Slytherin vibe ( or maybe a Loki vibe ;p ) !! 💚
