"I don't need you to soothe me, Susan. I'm not a child."
"Good," she said seriously. "I'm not a nanny. I personally like to avoid most children, since they're rude, ill-mannered, and usually smell like freaky kinds of juice and mixed fruit." She frowned as those words struck her with a bit of humor. "Wait a second, given all that, you DO remind me of a child."

‘The Bandit Queens’ by Parini Shroff
Genre: Adult Fiction – Thriller
Published: 2023
Format: eBook
Rating: ★★
A revenge comedy sounded interesting, but I was disappointed. There wasn’t a lot of comedy, even dark comedy, and it was difficult to read. Perhaps because I’m not au fait with the culture and a lot of the language and terminology it just felt like a hard slog, and I didn’t enjoy it at all.
One thing I did like was the…

Thurs. July 20, 2022: Milestone for Legerdemain and Adventures with Murder Maps
Thursday, July 20, 2023
Waxing Moon
Pluto, Saturn, Neptune Retrograde
Cooler, with wildfire haze
Latest on the garden over at Gratitude and Growth.
Busy day yesterday.
Today’s episode is from Legerdemain and marks the ONE YEAR anniversary of this serial’s launch! I love the serial, the characters, the kind of whacky humor mixed with action and adventure, with moments that are more serious.…

US transphobes are running with a new gotcha of “you never hear about WOMEN becoming MEN, hmmm curious!” and everyone is saying that you don’t hear about it because trans men are completely under the radar and like…that’s not true!
Did I hallucinate the “little girls are mutilating their bodies” “mentally ill girls are taking hormones” “what happened to our lesbians” “you wanna be a man I guess I can hit you” arguments that have been made for years??? Some of the main talking points of JKR???Hello!?
People are erasing trans men and it’s YOU TOO!

PRESENTS 13/2/23 - ‘HOW TO KILL YOUR FAMILY’ - BELLA MACKIE
I eyed this book up last autumn when it was in hardback but didn’t succumb (much as I have a thing about hardbacks).
In the new year Philippa from book group mentioned that she was reading it but wasn’t impressed and at the weekend she offered it to me. This morning she knocks on the door with it and I am delighted.
We had previously exchanged emails when Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ was published, due to this highly creative independent book seller’s window display …
