Vicious
Tumblr media
Autor:
- V.E. Schwab
Verlag:
- Fischer Tor Frankfurt am Main
Inhalt (Klappentext):

She opened the book, leafed through the pages
Her eyes darting through the words, lost between the letters;
She did not notice the loud shouts , nor the noisy cars
For she was in a world of rain and snow, hero of the kingdom
Changing the world for the better.
She didn’t talk a lot, people thought she was wrong
They whispered behind her, words she once read in fairytales
They hurt her, ridiculed her, for not being like the rest,
And she would clutch her book, her savior, her only friend
She felt safe, she felt accepted
Felt okay, and respected
In a world with no place for magic
She hid her dream, their nightmare
She walked paths of ice, ran on flame
Flew on dragons and wore metal armor
She read about ships she could never sail
And read about people she could never be
She turned the last page, closed the book
Closed her eyes and heard the noise
Life crashing down on her, reality threatening
She wanted to go back where life wasn’t hurting
But we all want what we can’t have, and she wants what no one will give

Book: Wicked Seduction Author: by Estelle Pettersen Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My Thoughts: If you're a prune this ain't the story for ya and it's best to keep it stepping otherwise prepare to be blown away. My god, Alistair is the embodiment of a bad boy with a heart of gold and a soul as pure as a newborn. At times I wanted to slap him into next week, then I wanted to just hug him close to my bosom and let him know it's okay and he's safe, and other times I just wanted to shy away from the intensity of his naughtiness! Vera is simply a diamond! That girl has been through it and still came out fighting in the end and I've been her cheerleader since Lessons on Seduction. I'm glad these two side characters got their own story, it was heavier and darker compared to Book 1 but you know what, I loved it! My absolute favorite chapter is 37(Brothers in arms) I reread it twice and cried twice. I could go on and on about the story but there's a word limit 😆. What I've read is a simple draft and I wait patiently for the day Wicked Seduction joins Lessons on Seduction to my collection. Verdict: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 👍🏽 #review #recommended #bookreview #readitnow #bookworld #wattpad #wattpadbooks #bookadventure #readnow #leaveareview #bookrecommended #aurthorsreadingtime #aurthortime #takingabreak #collection #romance #desire #secondchances https://www.instagram.com/p/CQArU9CA1Wv/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Insignificance, my friend, is the essence of existence. It is all around us, and everywhere and always. It is present even when no one wants to see it: in horror, in bloody battles, in the worst disasters. It often takes courage to acknowledge it in such dramatic situations, and to call it by name. But it is not only a matter of acknowledging it, we must love insignificance, we must learn to love it.”
Ratings✨:
Characters: 6/10
Writing: 9/10
Creativity: 7/10
Pace: 8/10
Plot: 3/10
Ending: 4/10
An overall 3 ⭐️.
More about the author✍🏻:
Of all the writing styles a reader gets to see, Kundera’s stands remarkable, here’s why:
* His twisted metaphors trigger plenty of philosophical questions, such as: existence-versus-oblivion, insignificance of things in absence of knowledge or perception,..etc.
* His characters are well-carved and legit realistic. They’re swept in human conflicts and imperfections. You cannot spot a 2D plastic fictional character in any of his works.
* He knows how to teleport a reader to the era and location of his work setting. The social and political events are pretty much put on the focal point of his works. If we get to pinpoint a distinction for Kundera’s literary voice, it’ll be the voice of a historian.
On the book📖:
Then comes the part where my expectations for The Festival of Insignificance got hit by a lorry..
First of all, the process of switching between the characters is highkey confusing. Second, the narrative swapping between what’s supposed to be a character’s thoughts/flashbacks/delusions, and the actual events is so bizzare, almost like Shakespearien Macbeth - but not in a good way. And third, as for me, I love open endings, but in this one, it’s done as if someone has stolen the last chapter *shrugging*..
So I’d say this book may be a light poetic piece with a deformed plot-spine.
Recommended for:
Philosophy lovers / those seeking short reads.

Book: Desire Me Again Author: by Virginia Wallace, Gibby Campbell, Dee S. Knight, R. M. Olivia, Jan Selbourne, Patricia Elliot, Zia Westfield, Carol Schoenig, Annabel Allan, and Alice Renaud Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My thoughts: At first glance, the cover of Desire Me Again gives the illusion of abundant romance and about your partner desiring you again, or so I thought! It was more about earning/begging a second chance at love, partnership, connecting, forgiveness, and of course desire. Stories like Temperance, A Convict's Prayer, Fight to the Stars, and The Holiday Mermaid all had the element of forgiveness along with lingering love behind them. While Renewing Forever, The Handcuff Proposal, Second Chance, Lost&Found: Solider's Return, Together at Last and Xpose spoke more about reconnection along with the rediscovery of desire for your spouse. Overall, Desire Me Again was another beautiful collection by the BVS authors. Super recomendable. Sula
Tumblr media
Author:
- Toni Morrison
Publisher:
-  Pengiun Random House UK
Content (Blurb):
As young girls, Nel and Sula shared each other’s secrets and dreams in the poor mid-West of their childhood. Then Sula ran away to live her dreams and Nel got married. Ten years later Sula returns and no one, least of all Nel, trusts her. Sula is a story of fear – the fear that trapes us, justifying itself through perpetual myth and legend. Cast as a with by the people who resent her strength, Sula is a woman of uncompromised power, a wayward force who challenges the smallness of a world that tries to hold her down.
My Review:
“Like any artist without an art form, she became dangerous.” (Toni Morrison, Sula)
As you already know I am Tony Morrison fan and I wanted to read Sula’for a long time. With Sula Toni Morrison is telling the story of two young black-women, Nel and Sula who grew up in a poor neighbourhood between the 1920s and 1940s. I loved how Morrison discusses feelings such as grief, rage, heartbreak, joy, and a deep longing for freedom, self-determination and human nature with this book. While telling the story about the two young girls and discussing these feelings she created unique and compelling moments throughout the story. Sula is a strange book, but for me all Toni Morrison books have a unique strangeness which gives them their compelling and fascinating character. I envy her story telling again and again with every new book I read. What distinguishes Sula from other Toni Morrison books I have read so far is its easier story telling. For me Toni Morrison books are always harder to read than other English books because of the rich use of language and her unique style of writing. Even if Sula talks about complicated relationships and issues such as heartbreak and injustice, to me, this story was easier to read and not as complex as other books by Morrison. So Sula could be a good start for anyone who is interested in reading Toni Morrison books and haven’t started yet.
“Lonely, ain't it?
Yes, but my lonely is mine. Now your lonely is somebody else's. Made by somebody else and handed to you. Ain't that something? A secondhand lonely.” (Toni Morrison, Sula)
I guess what I love most about Toni Morrisons books is her writing style which I want to point out again. Morrison’s writing style always creates an alive, beautiful and mystic atmosphere within her stories. No other books have challenged me so much and I love how I am always able to learn something new through her books. Every book has a certain message for the reader and I really enjoy exploring these messages.
“There in the center of that silence was not eternity but the death of time and a loneliness so profound the word itself had no meaning.” (Toni Morrison, Sula)
Resume:
With telling the story of Nel and Sula Morrison created a beautiful book about the relationship of two girls growing up together, about friendship, love, grief, heartbreak, a longing for freedom, self-determination and human nature. You can never go wrong with a Toni Morrison book and I absolutely recommend this one! Sula was easier to follow than the other Morrison books I have read so far, so it could be a great start for anyone interested in reading a Toni Morrison book and haven’t started yet.
