“What’re you reading?”

Even though she knew you were there, MJ had been startled by your voice. It was quiet, showing you were slowly drifting into sleep, but she heard it loud and clear in your bedroom.

Her and Peter had joined you in a “Avengers Family” dinner, since it was a Friday night, and while Peter went to help Tony and your father, Bruce, with his suit, you and MJ departed to your room.

MJ lifts her book and turns the cover, showing you the title; The Great Gatsby.

You hum, leaning back down to where your arms held her waist, and your head rested on her thigh, “That’s a good book,”

“You read?” MJ teases, one of her hands leaving the book to rest at your upper back, nails scratching the skin revealed from your tank top,

“Pft, no,” You chuckle, “My dad read that to me when I was a kid. It was the only thing that got me to sleep at night,”

MJ hums back, the tips of her fingers drawing shapes at the back of your neck, “I was the same. But it always had to be Charlottes Web. Anything else, I was up all night,”

“I always knew you were picky,” You grin, shifting so you were on your back and staring up at her,

“Makes me wonder how you got me so easily,” MJ grins, your hand reaching up to flick her jaw,

“I’m just that special of course,” You cheekily state, “And you have a thing for the Avengers’ kids,”

“I never had a thing for Peter,” MJ corrects, and you shrug, lifting your head at a light knock at your door,

“You ladies alright in here?” Bruce questions, MJ marking her page as you nod, holding a thumbs up,

“We’re good, dad,” You respond, “Going to bed?”

Your father nods, “Tony and Peter are still in the labs if you two need anything. Try not to stay up too late,”

“Got it,” You smile, Bruce shutting your door so you drop your head, MJ patting your chest so you shift to lay next to her, allowing her to slide under the covers and beside you.

MJ flicks off the beside lamp, facing you with a smile that you mirror back, leaning forward to gift her with a quick peck to her lips, ending the night with shushed whispers and giggles.
