Yay, I finally finished the first chapter of my new fic...
†Our cursed love†
This is my first time writing an actual fic so it might not be that good, constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged! I would really like to know your opinions on what I'm doing right and wrong, things I should change and so forth.
A little PS this is not going to be absolutely canon, there will be some changes to the lore and techniques so be warned. I am also fully up to date on the manga so there will be manga spoilers.
Please enjoy the first chapter of ‡Our cursed love‡.
No warnings
~_Our cursed love._~
Chapter 1- Our pedestal.
~No one POV:~
The day is like any other day to most people. The sun blazing high in the bright blue sky, perfect white fluffy clouds dot the sky, moving along swiftly with the breeze. The sound of streets full of vehicles and streets full of people fills the air.
The day was like any other to non-sorcerers.
They all go about their lives, completely oblivious to the two Gods currently walking among them, blissfully unaware of the evil seeking to destroy these two Gods.
The day was like any other to the two Gods. Aware they’re being hunted but unaware of each other.
It’s true what they say, ‘ignorance is bliss’ and our two Gods will have to learn that lesson the hard way.
~3rd Person POV~
A young boy, around the age of 9 walks with an unusually cold face for a child wearing a blue hoodie with beige shorts and black sneakers. His expression isn’t the only eye catching thing about him, his eyes are quite simply breathtaking. Strikingly brilliant sky blue orbs. His short, fluffy white hair gently swaying in the breeze.
To passers by he seems like a relatively normal child with oddly spectacular looks but normal is not a word fit to describe this God.
Satoru Gojo decided to take a trip to Shibuya for no other reason than boredom. He knows it’s ‘dangerous’ because of the many, many bounties on his head but does he care? No, of course not.
Why would he care? He’s a ‘God’ right? All these fools are beneath him, besides its clear that none of them would even be a problem, he might be 9 but he knows his place in this world, he knows the ‘blessing’ he’s been born with and he knows how to use it -albeit not well- one glare is enough to dissuade anyone crazy enough to target him.
He can sense them all around him, thinking they’re hiding their cursed energy well but nothing can get past his six eyes, nothing.
~10 minutes earlier~
A young boy with long grey hair tied into a neat pony wearing a (f/c) shirt and (2/f/c) pants that are clearly too big for him and a pair of (f/c) boots steps out of a fancy black car in the middle of Shibuya. The 9 year old closes the door and the car drives off, left unattended which would be odd if he were just a boy, although his expression is somewhat normal for a boy his age, relatively bored, his eyes hidden by a pair of blacked out glasses with a circular frame.
He confidently makes his way through the busy streets, despite his small size he easily navigates a path through the much taller adults, some only sparing him a brief glance but none question why there’s a clear gap between him and everyone, a physically space none of them an seem to cross, naturally and absentmindedly moving around the boy to avoid it.
M/n Goto is aware of this gap as it’s intentional. He’s practicing although the few hungry pairs of eyes on him are distracting. M/n knows venturing out alone is ‘risky’ because of how valuable he is but hes a God isn’t he? Those fools are beneath him.
They’re clearly trying very hard to hide their cursed energy but alas it’s in vain, M/n sensed them following him since he left his estate. It’s not like any of them would be a problem for him, he knows his place in the world, he knows the ‘blessing’ he was born with and he knows how to use it -thanks to his loving father training him since he could walk-, one glare is enough to dissuade any idiotic enough to try and mess with a God, besides nothing can touch him without his permission, nothing.
~present time~
Destiny is a funny thing, many argue its existence.
If destiny exists then freedom cannot.
If freedom exists then destiny cannot.
Many argue its existence, many chose to deny its existence, they chose freedom.
The freedom of choice.
M/n Goto and Satoru Gojo do not believe in destiny.
M/n Goto and Satoru Gojo both chose to come to Shibuya today because they wanted to, they were bored and chose to do the riskiest thing by leaving unsupervised.
They both chose to walk this random street, they both decided they were tired of being followed and chose to turn around. A completely, random choice.
Completely random.
“Huh-?!”
“What-?!”
Time suddenly stops for two young, lonely, untouchable Gods.
M/n Goto and Satoru Gojo do not believe in destiny, so what is this feeling? Not the physical feeling of their shoulders colliding.
This sudden tug, this oddly familiar feeling like meeting a different version of yourself.
Luminous, sparkling sky blue orbs meet now uncovered blazing, blood red orbs and for the first time both are in absolutely awe of another’s appearance.
~M/n POV~
‘He- he bumped into me… his eyes… they’re… how did he-? This feeling… who is he, i feel like I should know… wait… he’s…’
~Satoru POV~
‘I didn’t sense him-? He touched me… i was sure i had it on… those eyes, they’re breathtaking… who is he? Why do i feel like I should know him? Wait… he’s…’
~3rd person POV~
“Cursed.” They both mumble at the same time causing both their eyes to widen, both taking a step back from the other.
The warm, carbon filled air suddenly feels a whole lot more suffocating, the feeling tugging at both of them gets stronger and they both know the other feels it.
It’s an odd sight, two unsupervised 9 year old standing in the middle of a busy Shibuya street just silently staring at each other in what can only be described as bewilderment.
For the longest time they’ve both believed them to have no equal. From the moment they opened their eyes they were forced to live in a word beneath them filled with people beneath them. They were put on pedestals so high no one else could ever hope to climb it and yet…
Their lonely pedestal is apparently bigger than they thought, all they had to do was turn around and be confronted with the other.
A shared pedestal is something everyone told them was impossible, they were born Gods among mortals, they were special, miracles, forever alone.
“Goto M/n…” M/n, finally regaining his brain, blurts out, feeling something he’s never felt before, nervous.
“Gojo Satoru…” Satoru eventually replies, having taken a few more seconds to recover and identify the unknown feeling in his chest, anxiety.
“We should probably lose them first before we talk…” M/n suggests, hesitantly turning his gaze away from Satoru and toward one of the groups of curse users currently hiding out in a tall building across the street with horror on their faces because the sheer amount of power coming from the two Gods is mind breaking.
Satoru turns his gaze towards another group hiding on a rooftop few building’s down with the same expression and hums in agreement. He slowly reaches out to grab M/n’s hand, he doesn’t know why but he just does.
The moment their skin makes contact they both jump, the feeling of physically touching another is so foreign, so intrusive yet so natural.
They quickly easy into the feeling, Satoru pulling M/n along and M/n following without complaint.
This action feels so normal it’s almost easy to forget the innocent looking 9 year old boys are running away from assassins hunting Gods not boys.
They both in this moment, forget they are Gods, they forget they are cursed, they both, even if only for a fleeting moment just feel like two normal boys, running freely through the streets of Shibuya, unsure of when they actually started running but unwilling to spend any time thinking about it.
They just run, the destination isn’t a concern to either of them and after running for what felt like both a lifetime and barely a second they stop in a dark, dirty alleyway, joyful laughter still bubbling from their chests as they catch their breath.
“Phew, I’m pretty sure we lost them.” Satoru comments as he leans against the wall, relaxing a bit more because he can’t sense anyone else.
“Hmm, it would be foolish of them to follow.” M/n adds, leaning on the opposite wall, also relaxing.
A short, comfortable silence envelopes the two Gods as their gazes lock, again being completely caught off guard by the other’s eyes. Millions of questions run through both of their minds, having finally found another like them is something they didn’t think possible , they were told it’s impossible.
“How… how did you touch me? Get past my barrier which I’m positive was active?” M/n asks incredulously, he should be absolutely horrified someone can bypass his technique but he isn’t.
Satoru looks at M/n in slight shock, now being made aware the other also had a barrier active at the time of contact.
“I… I don’t know, i also had a barrier active so maybe they cancelled out?” Satoru would have never thought he’d say that with such a casual tone, someone being able to bypass the one thing that makes him untouchable, he should see M/n as a threat but he doesn’t.
“So we both have a kind of barrier technique and they cancel out somehow… that should be horrifying right? Our one impenetrable defence rendered useless…” M/n’s voice drops to a low whisper but there’s no hint of defensiveness, simply taking in the fact he can be touched, he’s not unbeatable.
“It should but honestly it just makes me excited ya know?” Satoru chuckles, his eyes sparkling even more as his usual cold expression replaced a small grin, his heart is still pounding in his chest, the tugging feeling getting stronger the longer the talks to M/n.
M/n mirrors Satoru’s expression, feeling the same pounding in his chest, the tugging feeling moving his feet forward as he takes a seat on the floor next to Satoru, his barrier preventing his clothes from getting dirty. Satoru quickly joins him, activating his own barrier to stay clean.
Although both of them are just 9 years old, being born basically ‘God’s’ they naturally possessed some basic control of their techniques, both already having trained to use their techniques for a few hours none stop before they get tired.
“It is isn’t, my entire life I’ve been told no one would be able to challenge me and I thought how boring that sounds, they said I stand on a pedestal made for Gods and that I alone stand atop it, atop everyone else and then I thought how… lonely that sounded…” M/n says, pulling his legs to his chest as he rests his head on his knees, looking at his new found friend.
Satoru adopts the same pose, his mind and soul filled with pure joy as M/n speaks because he understands, he understands so well and he never thought someone else would understand.
“Mhm, they called me blessed my entire life, a miracle. Showering me in praises and gifts alike, telling me how special I am, how I’m better than everyone else. They also call me a God, put me on a pedestal too tall for a kid… They don’t see the view from the top, they don’t see how big and empty that pedestal is…”
M/n listens to Satoru, there’s something freeing in listening to him speak, like a weight lifted off his shoulders, the weight of being called the strongest and the loneliness that comes with it, a weight no 9 year old should even have to know about.
“Well it was big and empty but perhaps we can share it?” M/n asks with a hopeful tone, somehow already knowing he doesn’t really need to ask.
“I… I would like that. Our pedestal?” Satoru has never felt this type of excitement, the idea of sharing, being equal to someone else, of not being alone is enough to make him feel like a normal kid.
“Our pedestal.” M/n repeats, the word ‘our’ rolling off his tongue so naturally.
“So what do you normally do for fun? When you’re actually allowed to do what you want ?” Satoru asks, clearly excited to do whatever friends do when they hang out, he’s excited because he doesn’t really known what others do because he’s never bothered to pay attention to anyone else, they were beneath him so there was no point in getting to know them but now, now he’s never been more interested in another.
M/n grins, suddenly standing up and looking down at Satoru with a sparkles in his already spectacular eyes. Satoru still can’t believe he likes someone else’s eyes more than his own, his attention immediately glued on M/n. They both feel that tug again as M/n extends his hand towards Satoru, the idea of physical contact regardless of their barriers still seems so absurd but so enticing.
“Wanna find out?”
Satoru takes M/n’s hand, the unfamiliar warmth of another comforting their souls , penetrating their minds. M/n pulls Satoru up and their hands stay linked as they exit the alleyway, M/n leading the way, unknowingly staring the first chapter in a very long and dangerous book.

Trying to start a giant-ass meta on why I ship Mycroft/Albert and what there is to see of it and right off the bat I'm like...I want people to look at every single panel of their interactions.
No, it's not Sherliam levels. And BIG OLD DISCLAIMER: very little of what I'm going to present here is like "We were clearly intended to read it this way." I'll always argue that Sherliam is meant to be romantic: it hits so many well-established notes and tropes it's almost impossible to think otherwise. MycAl is a bit different. I do think it's definitely like...we're welcome and even invited to see it. But a LOT of my shipping it comes from the way I personally read and interpret things. So this is about explaining what I'm seeing that makes me ship it, rather than trying to be like "This is canon and you should agree with me." Anyway, for reference, I'll be using the official translation as far as it goes and then swapping to teawaffles' wonderful translation for the rest!
So...like right off the bat throughout the entirety of their Chapter 4 interactions their body language and expressions and ways of talking are so flirty? (Also, I still find it funny that in the manga Mycroft is introduced before Sherlock and thus Mycal is introduced before Sherliam. Older bros first lol.)
Maybe it's just that 2 decades on the internet have skewed me towards reading suggestiveness into everything, but the way Mycroft addresses Albert feels so flirtatious even if he's literally just being normal. "And what would an Indian Army official such as yourself want from an intelligence official such as myself this late in the evening?" Like...am I crazy? Does that not kinda sound like a porn intro? 😂 (This could also be Sherliam Side-effects. The way they call each other Professor and Detective in That One Scene is like...almost undeniably foreplay. Now every time anyone calls each other by title/profession/rank is this series I assume they're hitting on each other.)
But also Albert is just so...handsy throughout that scene. He's touching Mycroft's knickknacks, and just sort of limp-wristing all over the place. And I mean, I think that's just one of Albert's public-facing personas (customer service peeps, you know what's up) but it definitely lends itself to the existence of Vibes.
Anyway, there's this parallel of "You have my attention. What do you want?" that I think is kinda neat. (But look how comparatively sad Mycroft looks in the second version!!!)
Chapter 4:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 23:
Tumblr media
Btw, in Scandal in the British Empire...why does Mycroft introduce himself to the Queen? Never mind, not why we're here. Again, my weird innuendo sensors perk up in Chapter 17 at "I did not drag you out of bed this early for nothing." Maybe it's because my perception of Victorian niceties, whether it's factual or not, is that there was this sense of avoiding talk of physical realities. We don't speak of pregnancy, we speak of "her condition" and "confinement." We don't "go to bed," we "retire." And so on. So conversely, it feels almost suggestive to even acknowledge that someone was in bed. In whatever state of undress the might imply. *Kellen Goff Sasaki voice:* OOOH how sCanDaLOus. (Mind you I DON'T believe there is anything of authorial intent in this, again, just trying to explain the factors that make me read things a certain way.)
The little mind games: Albert immediately recognizing that he's being tested, and Mycroft well aware that something is off, that he and Albert are using each other to their own ends. All juicy ship ingredients.
Then there's this...I can't articulate why it's important. But it is. Something about mouths and thoughts. If I wasn't terribly lazy, I'd go digging for examples in various manga series and I have a pretty firm suspicion that I could prove that, often, Mouth-Focus Thinking Panel + Name = Ship.
Tumblr media
Jumping forward to the start of The Riot in New Scotland Yard (Chapter 29), Mycroft's demeanour has really changed. During the meeting at the British Museum he's radiating "I'm not angry I'm just disappointed" energy. He's tense, he's not sure if the Moriartys are enemies and when he understands their plan he seems understandably sad about it even as he accepts it. But now, he's radiating an almost Sherlock-like excitement. He's just gotten to see a miniature version of The Plan in action during the Jack the Ripper case, and it worked. He says he's just visiting Albert as an acquaintance (read: friend in Mycroftian), and that's what it feels like. They're chummy. It's cute. Also Albert teasing Mycroft over his squabbles with Sherlock when he leaves? When did Albert find out about that, hmm? (I mean, could be spying of course. But I like to think it just suggests they've talked more than we've seen.)
Annnnnd....cutting this part off here because I'm bored of it for now and it's long. I'll do the rest when the mood strikes. 😂

Gojo Satoru and Emotional Strength
Now that the Hidden Inventory arc is over in the anime as well, and everyone is caught up on Geto and Gojo's backstory, I wanted to share some thoughts on Gojo's reaction to the Geto debacle and how it all ties into his relation to strength.
Gojo is a physical force to be reckoned with: we know that, every character in the anime, including Gojo himself, tells us this all the time. He is the strongest. There is no one stronger than Gojo (with the potential exception of Sukuna, but this is awaiting confirmation as *spoilers for the manga* the Sukuna vs Gojo fight is currently ongoing in the manga).
Every time we talk about Gojo's strength though, it's purely physical. Every observation and remark ever made is about his fighting abilities and his technique. However, there's also a key component of Gojo that allows him to be who he is, and that is sheer emotional strength, even if we always make fun of him for being outwardly emotionally immature.
(Note: I know this is Geto's episode, and me talking about Gojo's emotional intelligence doesn't take away from Geto's experience in the episode. However, everyone's already talking about it, and I have nothing to add to the discourse. So I'm going to talk about this instead.)
Geto touches upon that shortly during the infamous KFC breakup (2x05 - Premature Death):
Geto: You could do it (nb: create a world without non-sorcerers), couldn't you, Satoru? Yet you would try to convince someone else that it's impossible to do something that is possible for you?
And then we get *the* Geto quote (which is honestly so poorly worded and it's a bit fake deep but it does convey an interesting message): are you the strongest because you're Gojo Satoru, or are you Gojo Satoru because you're the strongest?
Gojo: What are you trying to say?
Geto: If I were able to become you, this foolish ideal would become a lot more grounded and real, don't you think?
Geto's jab at Gojo's strength and ability to execute his plan raises the following question: if Gojo could, why doesn't he?
I don't think the answer is as simple as saying that "Gojo is naive" or "Gojo is too empathetic for that" or "Gojo is a good guy".
Geto's been through hell by consuming curses and his life as a jujutsu sorcerer has definitely been more miserable than Gojo's. 16/17-year-old Gojo is removed enough from the reality of weaker sorcerers to not be as impacted as the rest of them. However, he's seen as much as they have: he's seen the numerous, pointless deaths, the destruction, all of it. He's just lucky and talented enough to avoid getting overinvolved (stated by Akutami himself - Gojo can do just about anything he sets his mind to, so he doesn't get too involved with anything). But that doesn't make him blind. We know he's frustrated with jujutsu society, the rules, and the suffering (of his students especially). He also knows that someone has yet to outrank him, and he's aware of the burden placed on other sorcerers, despite how often he jokes about them being weak.
It would be ridiculous to argue that Gojo is too foolish to know how curses and cursed energy work and that they all mostly come from non-sorcerers. But it's not like he doesn't want to stop people from suffering either. So, why did Geto join the 'dark side' (lmfao) and Gojo hasn't?
Emotional strength.
By emotional strength, I mean the character's way of dealing with his emotions and handling them correctly, no matter what is thrown their way.
Make no mistake: I am not calling Geto emotionally weak. In fact, to be able to withstand all that he did for such a long time, you'd have to be incredibly driven. There's only so much he could take.
No matter how close they were and how much they loved each other (and this is also why I'm making the case for Satoru's emotional strength - you can't look me in the eyes and tell me that he wouldn't have ideally done everything for Suguru or joined him in everything he did), this is their point of contention: when is it time to let go of traditional logic and moral and to give in to emotions?
They both have similar emotional baggage due to how often they were sent on missions together and how they both lived through the Amanai incident. Where Geto decayed over months and months, Gojo literally died. They both went through incredibly traumatic events.
I'd argue that the reason why Gojo didn't immediately join Geto, the person he loved the most, in his quest, was initially shock; but it's not naiveté. It's a mixture of genuine shock and a lack of understanding. As I said, though, he knows how the jujutsu world works and he saw what happened to Amanai. You can't possibly, in good faith, call him naive.
You also couldn't say that the reason why Gojo didn't follow Geto was pure emotional strength. He was too young for that. But the event did contribute to building that part of himself.
Geto is partially right: there is a "simple" solution to end everyone's pain, to make sure that no one ever has to get hurt again and to look out for the next generation without them even touching a curse. Gojo could do it. The reason why Gojo is also the strongest is because he doesn't give in to his emotions when dealing with jujutsu matters. What we tend to mistake as carelessness is the complete opposite.
I don't think such strength could have been achieved without Geto's story. Gojo has thought about killing the higher-ups before and going on an actual rampage:
Tumblr media
(And, spoilers for the manga, they've all been massacred, and if I'm not mistaken, we still don't know who did it. Let's work under the assumption that it wasn't Gojo, because the signs don't point to him.)
Gojo's not *that* empathetic of a guy. He can and will be brutal against his foes and he has pretty much no mercy for them.
His anger is not directed at the victims even when we know he thinks of them as weak. I'd be willing to bet that every time he has those thoughts, he thinks of Geto to remind himself of what he shouldn't do. Again, sheer emotional strength to think of this guy you loved so much, with whom you've been through insane trauma, who engaged in the most heinous acts and not think "You know what, maybe he was right after all."
In the end, I'd say that there is an answer to Geto's riddle: when they were teens, Gojo was who he was because he was the strongest - he was strong enough to be somewhat oblivious to everyone else's pain. It's kind of like knowing something in theory, but not seeing it in practice. Later on though, he is the strongest because he is Gojo Satoru. He would be a significantly weaker character without his ability to handle his emotions the way he does. And no, if Geto were able to become him, this "foolish ideal" would not become a lot more grounded and real.
Now, the question is, is he eventually going to snap and let his emotions get the better of him?

Vil, idia and jamil with an s/o who likes to draw ship art of him and themself a lot?
How do they react to ship art of you and him...? (Vil, Idia, Jamil)
summary: oh yes, let's be realistic, you're into fandoms, a lot. And you're pretty good at drawing too! Which means... You could draw yourself and your boyfriend doing cheesy couple things!
genre: fluff, romantic
warnings: not proofread. im sleepy
Tumblr media
Vil is aware that some of his fans… write and draw things about him.
He knows about fanfiction, and while it isn't as common as self-ship art of him — he has seen it before.
He's pretty neutral about it, as long as it doesn't go too far it's fine by him!
Vil knew you liked to draw, sometimes he liked to stare at you wondering what you were drawing. Admiring your beauty as you moved your pencil along the paper, but you always seemed to shy away whenever he tried to take a look at your drawings.
One day, you were showing him a little doodle that you were proud of. Vil picked your sketchbook to see it upclose — and to also take his chance to finally see what you hid in those pages.
And when he saw… well you've never seen him smirk so brightly. Oh, stop feeding his already big ego please, how is it possible that someone with SO MUCH pride like him could get even worse? Well, you somehow did it!
'Oh, my~ Why would you try to hide this from me, darling? I don't think someone has ever drawn me the way you do. Hm..? Why would I not like it? Your art is beautiful, just like you.'
Tumblr media
Oh… Self-shipping… Idia's guilty pleasure….
He acts like Oh No That's Cringe but deep down he's a shameless self-shipper. There's nothing he wanted more than his favorite character to tuck him in bed and give him a kiss on the forehead.
And actually… He felt like that for you for a long time– No, he does still feel that way!
He has a bit of experience drawing, so Idia actually drew a picture of you and him holding hands. But he blushed so hard he impulsively burnt it.
One day, after a long day of gaming, you were sleeping on his bed and he decided to stay up a bit more to get some levels. — it was late, almost 2 am. And Idia finally decided to join you for sleep.
But your sketchbook was laying on the table, earlier you showed him a doodle of one of your favorite characters and forgot to pick it.
It took everything from Idia to not open it and see what you hid in there, and even then it wasn't enough.
With the lights of the computer that slightly illuminated his room, he decided to take a peek through the pages.
At first it was just normal drawings and fanart, nothing weird — until he saw a drawing of him, which made him even more curious. He kept going until he saw a drawing of him kissing your cheek and Idia almost dropped your sketchbook.
He put it in your backpack and sat on his bed, muttering about something — Idia almost didn't notice when you woke up and called his name in a worried tone.
Idia was so incredibly happy and it made his heart almost combust but– gosh he will never tell you about it.
Tumblr media
'Oh god how is my partner so good at drawing and why is it so cute why do I look so good in here does s/o think I look like this IRL ahhh I want to see it again but i shouldn't–'
Jamil, unlike the other two, does NOT understand fandom culture at all.
He has seen Idia once or twice muttering about idols or manga but he personally does not understand the obsession behind it. I can see him being the kind of guy to enjoy reading as a solitary hobby, but that's it.
That means, he doesn't know about shipping.
But Jamil knows you DO know about this stuff, and he'll let you info-dump about whatever you want.
He has seen you making fanart once or twice, and he really does love looking at your drawings!
But, every time he asks if he can see your whole sketchbook, you say no — and he doesn't understand why.
He lets you be… At first, since he likes his privacy a lot. But… Jamil can't help but feel a tiiiny bit curious.
His master plan to see what you hide is that whenever you show him some of your art, he'll ask you to search for another drawing you made before. In hopes that whatever you're hiding will appear "accidentally".
And wow… he wished he could tease you about it but… it's such a cute drawing of you hugging him and you both are smiling and the drawing is so good–
Oh gosh his ears are burning, and why are his cheeks so warm?
He doesn't know what to say, you broke him.
'A–Ah… No! I do… I do like it a lot– It's just… You should… If you want… I'd like to see more of this, if you'd like to show me. You're… really good at drawing.

BSD Theory: Dazai’s Drowning of Fyodor and Chuuya Is Just A Ploy to Manipulate Sigma
(Spoilers up until chapter 101 of the manga)
Personally I think the entirety of chapter 101 was framed as a misdirect, in order to draw our attention away from Dazai and Sigma’s interactions, and instead focus on all the new information we received as well as the cliffhanger of what will happen to Fyodor and Chuuya.
So, for this theory I want to do a thorough analysis of Dazai and Sigma’s interactions, both in this chapter, as well as previous chapters. Because in my opinion, Dazai’s interest in Sigma is very apparent, and quite suspicious.
Dazai’s Plan
Firstly, I want to address why I think Dazai feels the need to manipulate Sigma in the first place:
I believe that Dazai has plans for Sigma, and in order for Dazai to enact these plans, he needs Sigma to come back with him to the agency. But in order for this to happen, sticking with Dazai after this prison situation is over has to be something that Sigma actively wants. Dazai can’t force Sigma to join his side, all he can do is spend the little time he has alone with Sigma trying to convince him that Dazai is not only a better option than staying with Fyodor, but is also a better option than taking his chances of being alone in the world again.
For this theory, I will be working under the assumption that this whole ‘water trap’ that Fyodor and Chuuya are stuck in is just a manipulation tactic set up by Dazai to make himself look more intelligent than Fyodor in Sigma’s eyes. And because of this, Dazai never actually planned to kill Fyodor or Chuuya here, and has a plan to save them both.
With my thoughts on that matter stated, here is my analysis of Sigma and Dazai’s interactions so far.
(’m going to stick to chronological order for this in order to keep things simple).
Chapter 95.5/97: An Empty Port Part V & VI
Summary: The first chapter picks up just after Fyodor and Dazai fall through the floors of their cells and into the room with Nikolai and Sigma. The following chapter is where Nikolai fully fleshes out the rules of his game and ends with Dazai choosing Sigma as his tool to help him win the game.
In these two chapters, a lot of parallels are present between Dazai and Fyodor in terms of their behaviour and reactions to Nikolai explaining his game. They agree with each other, and show similar posturing and facial expressions. For us as the reader, this is not uncommon. Dazai and Fyodor have been shown to be very similar characters already, many panels feature their faces drawn similarly and that whole ‘communicating through secret code’ thing just shows how in sync they are.
But for Sigma, this is his first ever introduction to Dazai. He has never met Dazai before and knows nothing about him. So for Sigma, his first impression of Dazai, (made before the two of them have even interacted one on one), is that Dazai is very similar to Fyodor (a person Sigma is intimidated by and currently very fearful of).

Look at Sigma’s facial expression in this panel. He looks unsettled and confused at Dazai and Fyodor’s behaviour. He doesn’t understand them or what they could possibly be planning.
Now, I like to think that Dazai was fully aware of the comparison Sigma was making in his mind between Dazai and Fyodor, and that Dazai was actually purposefully playing into these similarities between him and Fyodor to encourage Sigma drawing parallels between them.
It could be possible Dazai wanted to do this so that he could subvert Sigma’s expectations later on. Sort of like ‘ah yes, look how similar I am to Fyodor, except, I am kinder and more intelligent. Wouldn’t it be nice if Fyodor were more like me?’
Chapter 98: Pier in the Sky, Part VII
Summary: This chapter picks up with Dazai and Sigma walking alone in the halls of Meursault, right after Dazai picked Sigma to be his aid in winning Nikolai’s game.
Now that they finally have a chance to talk one on one, what is the very first thing Dazai does when he and Sigma are alone together?
He teases him relentlessly. He dodges Sigma’s questions, he grabs Sigma and dances with him (I adore that scene so much, by the way), and generally, he treats the situation they are in as if it were a big joke, and not a life or death scenario. In short, Dazai does everything he can to get a reaction out of Sigma. Why?
In my opinion, it’s because this is the easiest way Dazai can figure out a person's character. He’s pushing Sigma’s buttons intentionally because he wants to see how Sigma reacts when he is put under a bit of stress. What sort of actions does he take when he is irritated? How does he react to being ignored?
So, what is the reaction that Sigma gives Dazai as a result of all this teasing?
Dazai pisses him off enough to where Sigma threatens to go off on his own, saying that there is no way Dazai can defeat Fyodor, and then we get this panel:
Tumblr media
This little bit of poking and prodding on Dazai’s part has rewarded him with a large amount of information on Sigma and his character without Sigma even realizing it.
Dazai spent a couple minutes being an annoying brat, and because of that, he now knows that Sigma would rather face the horrors of this prison alone and unarmed than lose this game, he believes Fyodor is untouchable in terms of intelligence and strategy, and that he has personal motivations for wanting to win this game. All of this can be used to further manipulate Sigma for his own benefit.
And how does Dazai react immediately following Sigma’s outburst?
Tumblr media
He acknowledges Sigma, which is something he hasn’t done so far. Every time Sigma speaks to Dazai up until this point he is ignored. He also calls him interesting, and promises Sigma his safety.
(Also, look at Dazai’s body language here. Look at how casually he is acting around him, as if the two of them have been friends for ages.)
Dazai’s Switch in Behaviour
The reason why I think Dazai was purposefully antagonizing Sigma in order to get a reaction out of him is because after the above panel where Dazai promises to get Sigma out of the prison alive, Dazai stops screwing around and actually gets started on putting his plan into action.
He got what he wanted, so he changed his behaviour, no longer having a reason to annoy Sigma.
But something that is super interesting is that it seems like this shift in Dazai’s mood is hidden in the manga’s narrative. Right after the above panel is where they first hear Chuuya banging around and Dazai acts more serious as he explains to Sigma how dangerous Chuuya is. And that’s where the chapter ends, and then we get two chapters of airport shenanigans before we are back with Dazai and Sigma in the prison.
When we pick back up with Dazai and Sigma, Dazai’s mood is lighthearted and nonchalant, but unlike the first few panels where he and Sigma were alone together, Dazai has now fully dropped his ‘idiot persona’. He isn’t trying to dance with Sigma, and instead of ignoring Sigma’s questions he is answering them quickly and earnestly.
Now it would make sense to attribute this shift in Dazai’s behaviour to Chuuya’s arrival. Since Chuuya is now here, the game can truly start which means Dazai needs to get moving. But I can’t shake the feeling that Chuuya’s introduction was placed right after the panel above for a specific reason, with that reason being an attempt to hide the fact that Dazai had no plans on further messing with Sigma after he got the reaction he was looking for.
If we aren’t supposed to know that Dazai is manipulating Sigma, or at least, not to its full extent, then directing our attention away from their interactions like this would be the best move.
This is a tactic that is also heavily present in chapter 101.
Manipulation; Fyodor vs Dazai
For this section, I’ll be referring to this amazing post by @blackandwhitemusician analyzing the differences in how both Fyodor and Dazai manipulate people (I highly recommend reading it, it’s short and completely blows my mind).
OP explains that Fyodor manipulates people by treating them like pawns, by finding their weak points and exploiting them through blackmail, threats, and pretty promises.
While Dazai also manipulates people, he is much more focused on encouraging his pawns to act within their own free will. He wants them to make choices in accordance with their own personal codes of conduct.
To add my own little analogy based on this analysis (please know this is in no way a perfect analogy, more a loosely related example to understand the general idea of what I am trying to say):
Fyodor views the people he manipulates as his own personal collection of action figures. He moves their limbs how he wants, controlling their every movement, and placing them exactly where he wants them.
Dazai, on the other hand, views the people he manipulates as ants in his ant farm. He still thinks of them as ‘his’ ants, but he also recognizes them as individuals, every ant has their own name and personality. He lets them do their thing, admiring them from afar, and every now and then, he’ll release them into a maze he created and watch to see how they’ll get out on their own.
Dazai’s Manipulation of Sigma
Sigma says himself that he knows Dazai is manipulating him. The kind of manipulation I think Dazai is using on Sigma here, is designed to increase Sigma’s self-esteem and sense of agency.
Sigma has a tragic background of being used and abused for as long as he can remember. He is missing his past, he is missing a home, he has no friends or family, and he now believes Fyodor wants to kill him. He has built Fyodor up in his head to be this all powerful monster he has no chance of ever standing on equal ground with.
When Sigma first shows up in the prison with Nikolai, he looks extremely uncomfortable. He obviously didn’t want to be there. When Dazai picks him for his team, he wants to speed through the prison and win as quickly as possible, even though he truly believes deep down that there is no point in trying to win against Fyodor, since he has no faith in Dazai winning.
Keeping Sigma’s current view of Fyodor in mind, if Fyodor had walked up to Sigma in those first couple minutes of their reunion and told Sigma ‘I am going to kill you now’, would Sigma have tried to fight back? If Fyodor had instead said to him ‘I am giving you another chance, join my side again’, would Sigma have said no?
Personally I don’t think Sigma would have defied Fyodor at this point. I think his self-worth was too low and he was in too dark of a place after just losing the home he had longed for all of these years.
So, if Dazai can discern these feelings, fears, and insecurities Sigma has, and if he wants Sigma to come join his side willingly instead of returning to Fyodor, what would Dazai need to do in order to insure this happens?
In my eyes, Dazai has three main goals in his manipulation of Sigma;
He needs to get Sigma to raise his self-esteem and self-confidence
He needs Sigma to stop viewing Fyodor as some unstoppable force of evil no-one can defeat
He needs to build Sigma’s trust in him and his skills/plans (basically convince Sigma that he can, and will, beat Fyodor)
If Dazai's desired outcome from his manipulation of Sigma is to convince Sigma that sticking with him is the better option than crawling back to Fyodor, or facing the world on his own, then these ‘three goals of manipulation’ will help him achieve it.
The focus of all of these goals is to positively change Sigma’s current mindset and view of himself, gain Sigma’s trust and admiration, and to help Sigma build a sense of agency, so that when the time comes, and Sigma has to make a choice between going with either Dazai or Fyodor, he’ll pick Dazai.
(For this next section, I’ll be talking about chapter 101 in chronological order for simplicity. I’ll refer back to these ‘three goals of manipulation’ as I see them occur throughout the chapter)
Chapter 101: Sinking to the Bottom
Since I think manipulating Sigma is Dazai’s main goal right now, I believe that this whole ‘trap’ for Fyodor that Dazai has orchestrated is just a way for him to impress Sigma. In other words, Dazai isn’t actually planning to kill Fyodor and Chuuya here, and he already has a plan to have them live that just hasn’t been revealed yet.
So keeping this in mind, how exactly does chapter 101 play out if we are analyzing it through the lens of Dazai manipulating Sigma and the ‘trap’ being a lie?
________
Firstly, the chapter begins with Sigma asking Dazai if they will really be alright now that Chuuya is here since he is so powerful. Dazai immediately brushes Sigma’s concerns off, and tells him that he’ll have no problem handling Chuuya.
By building Chuuya up in a previous chapter and not being worried at all about Chuuya in this chapter, Dazai is setting himself up in Sigma’s eyes as someone competent that has the situation under control.
(This will only actually pay off if Dazai can carry through on his talk and actually defeat Chuuya though. Hence why he had to take his act of drowning them so far.)
________
Next, Dazai prompts Sigma to ask questions about how Dazai is receiving intel. He does this by dropping the word “angel”, which triggers a memory in Sigma’s mind of Dazai saying earlier that an “angel” whispered something to him.
Dazai drops hints that he is getting intel, obvious enough for Sigma to pick up on and ask him about. He’s guiding Sigma to be the one who takes the conversation in the direction Dazai wants it to go. And when Sigma asks him if he’s getting “intel from an ally on the outside”, Dazai compliments him, telling him he’s “pretty sharp for someone who’s three years old”.
This is one of the instances where Dazai is trying to build Sigma’s confidence (goal 1). He’s letting Sigma talk, listening to his questions, and rewards him with praise and compliments his intelligence.
________
Then, Dazai tells Sigma how he is in contact with Ango, and that he sends information to Ango via his own heartbeat. Sigma tells him that can’t be the entire truth, because that doesn’t account for how Dazai can get messages from Ango.
Dazai looks surprised that Sigma noticed he was leaving out information, which I think was a fake reaction on his part, since the way Dazai explained his methods of communication makes the fact that it is only one-sided very obvious.
Again, I see this as one of Dazai’s methods to help build Sigma’s confidence (goal 1). As after Sigma is done explaining how Dazai must be leaving out information, Dazai smiles and tells him he makes a “good point”. Again, he is encouraging Sigma to voice his thoughts and rewarding him with praise.
________
Directly after that, we get this:
Tumblr media
This is one of the most interesting examples in my opinion, as it touches on all three of Dazai’s “three goals of manipulation”.
“If you can get it, it means you’re smarter than Dostoevsky.”
Here, Dazai is simultaneously raising Sigma’s self-esteem (goal 1), makes Fyodor seem less impressive (goal 2), and is also insinuating that he himself is more intelligent than Fyodor, for coming up with a method of communication that Fyodor couldn’t sense (goal 3).
Whether or not Sigma is able to guess Dazai’s method of communicating with Ango doesn’t actually matter, the only thing that matters is that Sigma now knows Fyodor doesn’t know either.
Before coming to Meursault, Fyodor likely had an unmatchable level of intelligence in Sigma’s eyes. Someone untouchable and cruel. Someone that held his life in his hands and wasn’t afraid to crush him when he lost his usefulness. To ever think of himself as being on even ground as Fyodor has likely never crossed Sigma’s mind before this point. But now he can see that at least in this one aspect, they are equals in their ignorance.
________
Next we have Sigma trying to figure out how Ango is sending messages to Dazai, and we get this panel:
Tumblr media
(ugh Sigma is so adorable in this panel and I can’t handle it)
This isn’t directly related to Dazai’s “three goals of manipulation”, but I thought his thoughts here are interesting when reading this chapter from the perspective of ‘Dazai manipulating Sigma’.
Here, Dazai has drawn a comparison between Sigma and Atsushi. This is good for him, it means that moving forward, the most likely method to get Sigma to think and act the way Dazai wants him to is to treat him in a similar way he would treat Atsushi.
________
Next, Sigma gives up his thinking and instead yells at Dazai as they don’t have time to waste with all of this chatting, and that they need to focus on escaping. Dazai tells Sigma he isn’t planning to escape, and is instead going to kill Fyodor.
By targeting Fyodor directly, Dazai is again putting himself above Fyodor (goal 3), seeing him as nothing he needs to be worried about.
He also uses the phrase “we’ll kill Fyodor”, including Sigma in the plan.
________
Dazai spends the walk to the security room explaining to Sigma why Meursault’s walls will prevent Chuuya from breaking out, opens the security doors to reveal all of the guards are already defeated, and tells Sigma about how he’s been receiving intel via the ‘time-stopping’ ability.
At this point, Dazai is trying to flaunt his intelligence and meticulous strategic planning to Sigma as much as possible. This is in an attempt to aid goal 3, which involves Dazai wanting Sigma to build trust in Dazai’s skills and competencies.
I’d say this plan of ‘info-dumping to impress Sigma’ worked quite well, as look at what Sigma’s internal thoughts were like after Dazai finished his explanation of his trap for Fyodor:
Tumblr media
“This means that from the start, Dostoevsky had no chance.”
Tumblr media
“Against these two overpowered opponents Dazai on his own…”
This is exactly the kind of reaction I believe Dazai wanted Sigma to have. Dazai’s talk about how easy it will be for him to kill Fyodor and Chuuya doesn’t actually mean anything until he can show Sigma proof. With this trap, Dazai has proved his competence to Sigma.
As a result, Sigma is now starting to see Dazai as someone who can be relied on. Someone who has treated him kindly and has destroyed Fyodor, his personal monster, without even breaking a sweat.
Chapter 101′s Purpose
Look at how drastically Sigma’s view of Dazai changed in such a short amount of time. Because keep in mind, their first interaction to now has all happened in less than a half an hour.
I personally find Sigma’s changing view of Dazai much more important than Fyodor and Chuuya’s drowning, which is why I believe this chapter may have been left on a cliffhanger on purpose. The need to know what happens to Fyodor and Chuuya distracts from Dazai and Sigma’s interactions. Plus all of the knowledge we receive from Dazai about his plan, including the ‘time-stopping’ ability user, is quite distracting as well.
Could I be completely wrong about this, and about Dazai’s tactics of manipulating Sigma as a whole? Yes, absolutely. I wouldn’t be surprised lmao. But overall, I still think it’s interesting to think about, and to bring attention to.
Now, to end this theory off,
Predictions For Fyodor and Chuuya
Keeping in mind everything I have said so far, I can only really see Fyodor and Chuuya being saved by a third party.
If someone else comes in and saves Chuuya and Fyodor, that wouldn’t be Dazai’s fault. His plan still technically ‘worked’, so Sigma’s trust in Dazai wouldn’t be negatively affected, as not even Dazai could account for an external variable coming into play.
This way, Chuuya and Fyodor can both live without us losing any progress between Dazai and Sigma’s relationship.
If either Chuuya or Fyodor use their powers to free themselves, then Dazai would have made a ‘mistake’. His confidence in his own plan would have been unfounded, which would damage Sigma’s brand new trust in Dazai and his capabilities.
I’d say the most likely option is that Nikolai comes in to save both Fyodor and Chuuya, as his ability would allow him to bypass the locked doors entirely and would only take a couple of seconds. (Also if this does happen, then I’ll almost be entirely convinced that Dazai and Nikolai have actually been working together this entire time. But I’ll expand on that in another post, this one is long enough already).
------
Alright I’m cutting myself off here for this theory (I have around four other theories that all interconnect with this one that I’m currently working on, but if I put them all in one post that would be wayyyyy too long lmao). I’m hoping I explained my thought process well enough. As always, please feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts!!
All of the manga panels used here were taken from fan translations, so thank you to everyone who does fan translation!!!

Delicious in Dungeon - First Impressions Review
Tumblr media
This is based off the first 3 episodes of the anime and does contain spoilers. Please be aware that I have not read the manga and am not spoiled.
I actually got to watch the first 2 episodes of the anime live at Anime NYC last year. It also came with a sampler manga volume that includes a bit of the first volume of Dungeon Meshi. I’m glad they gave this out, this is a cool and unique item. It was nice being able to look at the manga art while waiting for the panel to start, so then I could compare it to the anime. I think the visuals match the manga very well and think both look great. I think there may be slight differences in facial expressions but nothing notably different or anything I would notice if I was not intentionally looking closely while writing this. The visuals of the anime are very high quality. The animation and art are clean, detailed and smooth.
I like the intricate details of monsters. The mollusks in the armor in episode 3 are fantastic and easily my favorite part of the show. This is creative, unique and fascinating. This was completely unexpected. It is so interesting and inventive. This took a classic fantasy enemy and explained it in an entirely new way. If they can pull this off every episode, I would be ecstatic. I hope we get to see more reimagining of classic creatures on top of one's original to the series.
Tumblr media
I also enjoy the cooking aspect of the show. It's very satisfying to watch. I do like very detailed cooking and eating animation. I think the show is at its best when it presents an interesting creature followed up with an interesting way that they are cooked. Again, this is done well in episode 3, where we see the multiple ways that the living armor could be cooked.
Another specific moment I loved was the detailed look into traps in the dungeon. Traps in any kind of dungeon-like structure are a staple, but usually they are breezed past as the characters avoid them. It was great seeing how these mechanically function. And even greater to then see how these traps can be used to cook food. This is another time where Dungeon Meshi does something truly unique and inventive.
It’s also decently funny. I do not think it’s laugh out loud funny, but there’s good jokes. I do think Marcille’s reluctance may get a bit repetitive if it keeps getting leaned into so hard but hopefully it won’t be too bad if we continue the same pattern of each episode featuring a new monster or two that they show us how to cook. I am totally down if it primarily wants to continue the trend of creature cooking of the week for now.
When it comes to the characters, Laios is the main one I have much to say about. I think he is a solid main character. He is pretty straightforward but with the funny flair of being concerningly fixated on eating dungeon creatures.
Tumblr media
It creates lots of great rapport between the characters, and I am totally up for this simply being a weird hyper fixation of his. I enjoy when writers embrace characters having weird specific passions like many real people do. I think there is potential for there to be some more depth to him through his responses to his sister being in danger, but sadly I do not think that element is being hit properly, at least not yet. I hope going forward we will get more perspective from Laios on his sister that makes me care more about her and them as a family.
The previous point is a good transition into my primary gripe. I think the main premise of saving Falin clashes with the tone of the show. You’d think they would be rushing to save his sister but it does not come across that way at all. And I do not feel like this is out of caution for moving through the dangerous dungeon or any reason along those lines. I understand that the dragon probably digests slowly but it still doesn’t change that this is between life and death. Falin being in danger does not feel very relevant. A lot of the time it feels like they are taking their time and enjoying themselves. Which is not fundamentally bad, but feels strange when the reason for them being there is to save the main character’s sister from dying. It feels so irrelevant that I genuinely forget that she existed for a time. With the general tone and content I think a serious motivation like his sister being in danger isn’t needed as a plot point. They could just want to finish where they failed, and Laios just wanted to go through it but be able to cook the monsters this time. And I think nothing would need to change. I think a simpler and less serious motivation would be better. A more dramatic plot like someone slowly dying would fit better if the series seemed to have more intent on being dramatic. But I do not see many attempts at that so far. Even at the very beginning when they realize she is down there we do not see much emotional expression. It seems focused on just having fun with its concept of cooking in a dungeon. Which is totally fine, but for me this creates a very poor tone. If I want to just be invested in the cooking and adventuring then I do not see the purpose of Falin being slowly digested being in the back of my mind while they relax with some food. If I am supposed to care about Falin then it doesn’t feel right to see the characters spend time and effort just to test if they could use trap oil to safely fry something when she is being digested by a dragon. For me there is clear tonal whiplash that harms my investment in the show.
I will definitely continue watching as I am enjoying the fun adventuring and cooking. Hopefully the tone will be improved as we go forward. The anime is already slated for 24 episodes so we have a lot ahead of us. I do like the basic episode structure of “creature of the week” but I do worry about it continuing to be interesting for 24 episodes 24 weeks in a row. But I think and hope we will get some more dramatic elements eventually and more focus on Falin being in danger while they take their time cooking. Thank you for reading!

Not sure anyone will read/care about this but I need a spot to vent about this whole "Idols "recommending" Made in Abyss" thing that's currently trending on twitter because I feel like I'm losing my mind (also I have no one else to talk about this).
So, one tweet from an unverified account posted that several idols were out here promoting and recommending the manga/anime Made in Abyss to their fans... and like... that's not at all what happened? One of them mentioned in a live off hand that he was going to watch it (along with a list of other shows), but stated he probably wouldn't finish them because he was currently touring. He apparently has never brought it up again. Another had a volume on the floor in the corner of a photo he took on his instagram story. He has also never talked about it before or since.
I have not read or watched Made in Abyss, but I follow several anime accounts online and basically every single person was recommending this show when it came out in 2017. It's still highly regarded in the anime community. I have never seen a single person ever speak about the "sexual" moments in it. I was curious and decided to read the first 3 chapters and... yeah, there's one part right in chapter 1 that has a pretty gross illustration of the child protagonist, which I'm not going to go into more detail here because it did make me extremely uncomfortable. I will note that apparently the South Korean version of the manga/anime is heavily censored and also rated mature, but I've not seen what the censoring in question looks like, so I don't know how much they could have read/watched that in, say, the North American/Japanese versions.
My overall opinion, after sleeping on this, is that calling these idols predators or worse is an extreme over-exaggeration. I'm not surprised people are saying this because the tendency for fandoms to overreact and be the morality police are worse than ever before, but if we're really cancelling these people for reading "problematic" fiction/dead dove content, then I'd be right alongside them.
From my physical manga collection alone, I can name three series I own that would get me cancelled:
After the Rain: protagonist, a high school girl, falls in love with an older man (mid-40s?) who serves her at a family diner. She starts working there, and they develop a friendship. Spoiler: nothing happens between them
Cardcaptor Sakura: pretty well known magical girl series so I won't go into the plot, but like.... looking back on it, there were a TON of age-gap romances in here, one of which being a teacher and an elementary school student. I remember being in elementary school and reading it for the first time and being weirded out by it. Spoiler: nothing happens here either (though I have not read the clear card sequel series)
Daytime Shooting Star: Romance with a love triangle between her teacher (wow I'm realizing I read a lot of age gap/teacher/student stuff) and a classmate. Spoiler: she doesn't end up with her teacher!!
I can think of a ton of other non-anime related examples of "problematic"/dark fiction that I love too: Game of Thrones, Last of Us, House of Leaves, My Dark Vanessa.... One of the best books I've read last year was about a cannibal. I guess to twitter, I am also a cannibal?
I think the unfortunate reality of being an anime fan is that basically 80% of the shit out there has "problematic" elements to it, or as I like to call it, "anime bullshit". And I think a lot of kpop fans have not actually watched anime or read manga and aren't aware of this.
You're allowed to feel uncomfortable with fiction. You're allowed to be weirded out that an idol likes a dark manga that has children as the main protagonists, where awful things happen to them. But at the same time, people are allowed to read dark content as well and that does NOT make them pedos, abusers, etc. That is a horrible accusation to make against someone, especially with no proof other than the fact that they may or may not own a volume of an extremely popular manga series. I really feel like the internet as a whole does not realize that words have meaning, and accusing someone of such vile behavior because of the fiction they may or may not read is just... insane. It's insane behavior. Please go outside.
Anyway if you read all of this, congrats. I'm basically word vomiting this all out at 6 am because I'm bad at sleeping. Would love to hear anyone else's thoughts on the matter honestly!

From the new cover am i the only one who noticed hoe's Ryusei behaviors around Koji is different ? Even before Kojiro decided to turn him into a pinara with no candy, since in their flashbacks Ryu looked like the calmer one meanwhile him with Toman and his classmates looks more opened and playful
I don't think it's because he's un-happy with Kojiro ( well of course in the current time he isn't but i'm talking in general ) since he's like this even before things went wrong
I'm nit the best analyising personalities but does it have to do something with when you feel responsible to ta ke care of someone ? i'm asking i don't know, i'm just comparing it to myself since it's all i know, with younger kids in the bus cause i want them to feel having someone cares to listen
For Ryusei maybe that it's that he's used to Kojiro impulsive and un-aware of his actions so it's like "if i didn't keep my eyes open he might hurt himself" ?
Ananlyising. personalities. Is. Confusing.
i don't much like how the side manga covers aren't that myuh special, they have their normal clothes and all, nothing much to analys. But anyway Koji here looks too delecious for a hair. His design doesn't look like any other cgaracter of any part
Well to start off with i agree Ryusei was definitely not unhappy with Kojiro, Kojiro himself wasn't the problem (at least not at first) we see him being playful and smiling a lot around Kojiro when they were small kids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We didn't really get to see a lot of them as younger kids so it's a little hard to tell but as they get older he does seem more laid back. And this is also when he starts to get unhappy with Kojiro. Kojiro seems to become more violent and they start hanging out with these other gang members, this is when he see Ryusei's smile disappear. And yeah I'd agree with your analysis I do think the reason Ryusei is a lot more serious and sad looking during this time is because he's stressed. He doesn't like the way things are going, he feels responsible for Kojiro (we can see this with the way he tries so desperately to save Kojiro and stop him from killing Baji). Ryusei just seems to want the old Kojiro back, he was perfectly happy when it was just the two of them. Revenge, gangs he never seemed to want any of that, those were Kojiro's ambitions meanwhile Ryusei just wanted to stay by Kojiro's side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh and with the cover thing yeah it would be nice to see them in more intricate outfits, I can kinda see why they just went for uniforms though. I actually really like the green bits in Kojiro's hair too, it was unexpected but as you said it's different! I like how the colour matches his eyes too

Trigun Stampede ep 1
-THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TRUGUN STAMPEDE!!!!-
I gotta say that the first episode of this remake is really living up to my hopes and dreams. While a shall forever be disappointed that it’s not a full redo I’ll be content with this I think. I’m gonna talk about my thoughts/feelings/observations about the new series and what’s different so far. THIS IS NOT A SUMMARY
Characters
1. Vash - I’m loving his characterization right off the bat, he’s goofy, kind, and has his serious moments, pretty true to his original character. I do like however that he doesn’t seem as jaded(so far) because they seem to be portraying him as younger than he was in the original. His introduction of a batshit evil laugh was amazing honestly. I had some initial issues with his redesign but I think it meshes well with the character. His arm being addressed and then instantly being used to make a joke was great honestly, very on brand. I think it’s really interesting that they are having him be more actively involved with the plants and their upkeep unlike the original where he only interfered occasionally.
2. Meryl - so far I feel like Meryl has been changed the most. She’s much younger in this, it’s called out specifically that she just graduated from a fancy school and seems to be very naive. Nothing at all like the original character. She does have her stubbornness and morals which is good and I think her over all character here will mesh well but may not be as bad ass and the original Meryl. Her design though is kickass and very reflective of how young she is
3. Roberto De Niro - A new character! One that I have nothing to compare against! I think he’s really ingesting so far. Obviously very jaded and aware of the how bad the world is but Al’s has some sense of morals. He doesn’t seem to be a reporter that cares about leads to much but he does know how to throw his status around and use it to help out.
4. Knives - we saw very little of him in this episode but what we did see was pretty cut and dry evil. He’s got and evil organ and some control over the wildlife of the planet, using it to spy on his brother. I did like the larger emphasis on him attempting to have Rem be saved as well as them. His design is extremely interesting when compared to Vash’s. Knives completely seems to embrace his inhuman tech side while Vash is trying very hard to look human.
Observations
1. I found the pacing interesting for the first episode. There’s already some man ikr things being addressed such as the plants and Knives and their connection to Vash. The new series obviously isn’t shying away from these things like the original material did and it makes me wonder about how the plot progression is going to go.
2. I am likening all things being used, the setting of Jenora rock and the references to the city of Julai (July I believe) and the direct reference to the Bad Lads gang. Speaking of which I am truly excited for the possibility or brilliant dynamites neon to be animated in this way I think it would be spectacular on all levels.
3. The people of jenora rock are used in two ways I think. 1. To show that Vash is a good guy and not what he seems to be despite his bounty. And he’s known for things despite his crimes. 2. That while the legend of the humanoid typhoon is widespread the bounty is not common knowledge.
4. The design for the plants are completely new as far as we’ve seen. I’m looking forward to seeing how they are going to address the design of the plants themselves, the original anime made them seem a little more monstrous than angelic and the manga was more angelic that human so I wonder agent they will look like. I also can’t wait to see what the red plant means.
5. The entire scene where Vash is begging for a bullet from anyone already shows so many things. The first being that Vash is a complete goof. The second being that Meryl has a strong sense of involvement with things, unlike her mentor. The third being that people are willing to help him even with his bounty, this being shown by Rosa giving a bullet to him. Also the scene is a great call back to the first episode of the original anime where something similar happens with Vash in a tight spot with no bullets however he has no one to help him out there.
Overall I’m really pleased with the start of the new adaptation and I’ll see you all on the 14th for episode 2!

Altered - Heaven and Hell 6
Author: Akira
Characters: Eichi
Translator: Mika Enstars
"But, as a result, those many, nameless members supporting fine were then ignored. You should be resenting that fact. You should be angry, and complain."
Season: Winter
Location: Time Street
⚠️ This is an import from a unproofed Twitter Livetweet!
Tumblr media
Noon, the next day, on the second day of OO. OO Venue 2, Time Street
Eichi: (—Of course, this “Altered” does not exist.)
(So no matter how hard someone looks, they won’t be able to find this unit.)
(It amounts to nothing more but an urban legend rumored around the internet. In other words, it’s up to you to believe if it exists or not.)
(Well, it doesn’t exist… But for a unit formed by the Five Eccentrics to participate in OO, an event where various unofficial units battle for glory—)
(Well, if you know their personalities, you’d know there’d be no way for it to be true.)
(However, if you're a fan who's been deeply dedicated to this day, the notion is appealing.)
(If such a unit truly exists, then they’d want to see it no matter what, yes?)
(Essentially, humans only believe what they want to believe.)
(This was once said about a great man long ago who was enshrined as a dictator, despite the fact he never wanted to become dictator.)
(The simple-minded masses believe only what they want to.)
(No matter how much politicians or scholars preach the truth, they will only believe a quasi-truth in accordance with their own knowledge—And latch onto conspiracy theories.)
(All I did was simply tell a lie that’d appeal to that crowd.)
(Although it’s rather regrettable, my experience from back during the war has come in handy.)
(With the establishment of ES, the concept of idols has gradually infiltrated the world. The world we live in has become an alien one, where the common sense we once knew no longer applies.)
(Despite all that, human nature does not change.)
(Here remains to be the planet of the apes, where cavemen with clubs roam.)
Tumblr media
Eichi: —Hello. Yes, I’m aware of the current state of things. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Do nothing but your best, members of fine!
Fufu, I see. It’s been a long time, so you feel strange being called that. You don’t feel like it applies to you, is what you’re saying?
I guess so. You guys are no longer fine. Every one of you now works individually or under a different unit name, don’t you?
In the past, during the time of the war, fine formerly was a large group.
Back then, there was no limit to the number of members allowed in a unit, and we could endlessly increase the number of members in fine.
During the time Chess, once prided as the largest within Yumenosaki, split up, fine took in the lost lambs with nowhere to go.
Thus, fine became the largest unit in Yumenosaki in terms of number of members.
Throw a rock, and it’d hit a fine member.
Hiyori-kun and Nagisa-kun were the only ones suitable to stand on the stage, but there were countless nameless angels behind them.
And of course, these numbers meant power. Through that, we were able to become a force capable of overthrowing the Five Eccentrics.
It’s a fact not as well known as one might think. Nobody cares about the nameless crowd, after all.
Even those who claim to be well-versed about idols still believe that the fine of that era of war consisted of Hiyori-kun, Nagisa-kun, and their leader, Tsumugi…
I, Tenshouin Eichi, who took over the leadership position and kept fine alive, am the only one who thinks of it as a group of four members.
Although in reality, it was a large group, not just four people.
It’s pretty obvious if you think about it. It’s a simple math problem.
If the ability of each individual is inferior, even if at our very best… With only four people, there’d be just no possibility to surpass five geniuses.
However, due cognitive distortion and false rumors…
A shounen manga-esque plot was spread and believed in—that the fine revolutionaries, inferior in number, managed to defeat the great evil that had infested Yumenosaki.
It was a convenient rumor for us, so I influenced rumors of that sort to spread.
But, as a result, those many, nameless members supporting fine were then ignored.
You should be resenting that fact. You should be angry, and complain.
There is nothing more excruciating than to be ignored. Especially for an idol, whose goal is to be on everyone’s radar.
You should be angry. Be angry, scored heroes.
Engrave your existence into this world.
My heart aches for your current situation. I consider you my former comrades, I cannot leave you behind.
No, this whole time I’ve been waiting for the change to shine a light upon you guys one day.
I agree. Right now’s the time.
You shall return to the front of the stage again, through this OO.
I have a path set up for you. All that’s left for you to do is to dance well.
Yes. I’m counting on you. No, I know you can do it… my friends.
Show those people of the world who know nothing what it means to be a true idol.
Tumblr media
Eichi: (…Fufu. So far, so good.)
(It’s been a while since I’ve devised a plan with a lie as big as this one.)
(Since the establishment of ES, I’ve enjoyed idol activities healthily, but it appears my skills haven’t declined too much.)
(No, rather, since the beginning… I’ve always had the essence of a schemer, with perhaps idol activities becoming more akin to a hobby.)
(Though I’d like not to think so, even if that is the case.)
If possible, I would have preferred to be an honest idol, rather than a scheming mastermind, or an emperor that reigns supreme.)
(I’m not sure if anyone would believe me if I said that, but it’s the truth.)

The following scene where WWX has had his first kiss stolen.
He stood still for a while, clenching his sword. His grip was tight, exerting so much strength that his knuckles grew white. As though he had somewhat calmed down, he suddenly looked over again, his gaze pinning Wei WuXian.
Wei WuXian felt a strange, unexplainable sensation. His eyes had been covered by the ribbon for over two hours. The sunlight was still a bit too dazzling for him. After he took off the ribbon, his eyes keep on tearing up. His lips were somewhat swollen as well. Wei WuXian felt that what he looked like right now must be terrible.
Being stared at so hard, he couldn’t help but touched hischin, “Lan Zhan?”
“…”
Lan WangJi, “Nothing.” With a clang, the sword was unsheathed. Lan WangJi turned around to walk away.
Maybe I'm slow.. but what is the strange unexpected sensation he was feeling? Is the above wwx feeling embarrassed by the way he might look in front of lwj? Or was he upset about his first kiss being stolen?
...Arousal.
OK more seriously...wait no I am being serious. I really do think that WWX was still very aroused over the kiss earlier and also very confused over it. WWX was weak in the knees and practically swooning when LWJ kissed him, and he clearly just had no idea what was going on or how to handle it. He even does shoujo manga things like put his fingers to his lips after they've been kissed!
I really love how canon can explore that it was wrong of LWJ to kiss WWX against his will...but WWX really did enjoy it, and the two play around after their marriage with plenty of make-believe 'forced' scenarios like this. All of WWX's body language makes it clear that despite his initial shock and the fact that it was against his will, WWX did wind up finding it arousing and is totally unsure of how to handle that or even of what he's feeling. He's probably also a bit embarrassed by how he looks, confused/distressed over his first kiss being stolen, and feeling self-conscious around LWJ because even though he isn't consciously aware of his feelings for him, he still has had a crush on LWJ since they were 15. Lots going on!

Word Count: 1479
DO NOT REPOST. DNI IF PROBLEMATIC. BLOCK NOT REPORT.
It was a day in winter, which month? That isn’t exactly important. The only thing important to a certain student was how he felt. Which student? Shoto Todoroki.
Shoto sat on a bench slumped over and leaned on his knees with only a scarf that's giving him added warmth. He didn't need much, he had his quirk. Even though he wasn’t fond of his quirk at times, he still was blessed because it kept him warm. Not that blessed because of his depressing backstory, but you catch my drift. Todoroki continued to stare blankly at the manga that he was going to give Sero in return for the one he had borrowed. Something was off, it wasn’t the same as all the other times. Hell, the boy had even been avoiding his friend some days because of it. He would’ve asked Mina, but since she was close to Sero he was worried she’d spill and tell him everything.
So he just stuck with ranting to Midoriya. It was only fair since Midoriya tends to talk his ear off a lot. Not that it was a bad thing, he was fond of it. It helped Shoto realize some of the nerves that he had whenever he was nervous or if they were in some sort of bad situation. He sat up, continuing to look at the manga in his hands with a scowl. Was he this mad over a manga? No, he wasn’t mad at the manga. He was mad at the lack of knowing his own emotions. What was this feeling? Every time Sero was around, Shoto felt.. clingy? No, that’s not the word for it. He just felt touched, that’s all it could be. There’s no way he felt romantic attraction towards him. That would be absurd; bad for his image. That’s what he had always been told. That’s what he believed. All those years he would have to shut out certain feelings. Guess that was really making a difference now, huh?
“..roki.”
“Earth to ‘roki!”
Todoroki must’ve been so deep in thought that he hadn’t noticed Sero calling his name. He looked up, seeing the grin that he seemed to be addicted to on the tape user’s face.
“You okay? You seemed pretty deep in thought there.” Sero laughed softly, meaning no harm by his actions nor his words.
“I’m fine.” The words came out stiffer than Shoto had wanted them to. How would he recover from this one? Now it was sure that there was something wrong. How could Shoto say it? Just say what was on his mind? That would probably end in disaster. Without realizing it, Shoto’s eyebrows had furrowed, his eyes narrow as he went back into deep thought once again.
“Okay, sorry bud, but somethings definitely wrong. You wanna talk about it?” Sero asked, taking a seat next to Shoto with a slightly worried expression. The question made Shoto sit up straighter, obviously tense.
Say what’s on your mind. Nothing could go wrong with that.
Say it.
What if Shoto gets rejected? What if Sero thought he was weird? Wasn’t it wrong to love someone like him? There was so much that he didn’t seem to understand. Relationships, sexuality and social cues weren’t his best strong suit. He knew about friendship and he knew about the basics of whenever it came to simple relationship prompts. That was such as dates, marriage and eventually kids. That’s all he was ever taught.
Stupid Endeavor.
“I don’t know how I feel. I don’t understand.” Shoto said after a moment of silence. He refused to look at Sero, the sight of him would only make things worse for him to explain.
“Okay, well what are you confused abou-” “All of it. I’m confused about all of it,” he paused, motioning his hand between the two as if to make a connection somehow. “There’s a part of me that doesn’t know how to explain it. I was always taught that romantic feelings were reserved for a perfect woman; someone worthy enough to bear the ‘Todoroki’ name. I can’t help but want to do small things like… hug you. It’s random. I’m normally not a touchy person, but lately whenever we read manga together I feel the need to lean on you. I guess that’s just being comfortable, I just saw it as being romantic.” Another pause.
Sero was stunned, going to speak before being interrupted by a confused Todoroki yet again.
“I’m sorry, what I guess I’m trying to say is… I love you? Is it wrong? Is it wrong for me to feel this way? It’s fine if you reject me, I just felt the need to have to get this off of my chest. Midoriya says talking is the best way to relieve tension. I guess he’s also rubbed off on me. I’m still ranting after all.” Shoto stopped himself after that, wanting to give Sero a chance to speak.
Sero was a bit stunned. Honestly, Sero had felt some romantic feelings himself, but how could Shoto think so badly of something like that? He didn’t seem to mean any offense. Sero would just have to educate the clueless boy.
“Of course it’s not a bad thing. Love doesn’t stop directly at a guy liking a girl. You can like a guy too. It’s not just one solid thing, y’know?” Sero smiled, slowly taking Shoto’s hand. Shoto was a little surprised by the action, yet wasn’t complaining.
“Look, I’m not going to reject you. I don’t think you’re weird either. In fact, I would like to take you up on your love. If that makes any sense at all.” Sero admitted.
Of course, to Shoto that made no sense. In fact, it dug him into a deeper hole of confusion.
“Offer? What do you mean?” Shoto asked, his voice back to his normal soft tone. It was such a change in demeanor.
“I didn’t mean offer as in like you offered your love. I meant that I love you too. I was just trying to be cool, like a knight in shining armor to remedy the fact that you were so confused on this subject.” Sero was the one to be nervous now, rubbing the back of his neck softly.
Shoto felt his tension release, relieved that Sero didn’t think lowly of him. So this was okay? Shoto could love a guy? He didn’t have to be confused anymore? Scratch that last one, he still had a lot more to learn. That could be done at a later date.
“This is okay? That we both love each other?”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way, ‘Roki. C’mon, let’s go back inside. The others are probably waiting for us to help set up.” Sero said as he stood, holding a hand out to the dual quirk user. Shoto, while hesitant at first, took his hand. Sero didn’t let go, so neither did Shoto.
“Oh! By the way, here.” Sero pulled out the manga, swapping it out with the one that Shoto had. “We were so busy talking and confessing to each other that I had completely forgotten about the manga.”
“This is a new series, isn’t it?” Shoto asked, looking at the cover of the different manga.
“Yeah. It’s a love story, ironically about a clueless boy trying to figure out his own identity. I think now you can relate to him.” Sero grinned, nudging Shoto with his elbow gently.
“You think so?” Shoto asked.
“I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t.” Sero said, his other hand going inside of his pocket.
“Alright.” Shoto nodded. “What does this make us?”
“We don’t really have to label it, but if we love each other equally, we could consider ourselves dating?” Sero suggested with a more serious look in his eyes.
Taboo. That’s all Shoto could think of. This was something so taboo to him he almost wanted to search up everything about it so that way he could understand easier. Though, Sero could be there to help him with that. Sero couldn’t understand everything though. Or did he?
“I would be-.. Happy. If we did start dating.” Shoto was awkward about it which made Sero laugh at how cute he looked clueless. Who was he kidding, Shoto always looked cute. How was Sero just now figuring that out?
“Alright, then we’re officially dating. Now come on, this Christmas party isn’t going to help set up itself!” Sero said, now pulling Todoroki along with him gently.
That’s right. It’s December 24th. Christmas eve.
Guess Shoto did get what he wanted for Christmas after all. Even if it wasn’t stated directly.

For the Shipping bingo card:
Sigurd/Riddle
Mikamatsu
Ienzo/Sephiroth
👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
You manufacture situations in which I can talk I love you
Sigurd/Riddle
Tumblr media
An actual bingo for once??? Their POWER
So uh if you haven't read Undertaker Riddle yet and you don't want to be spoiled I heavily suggest you look away because there's no way to talk about them without spoilers
Anyways BY GOD
You wanna talk King and his knight? Try king and his most loyal secretary
French revolution came to town and on his way to hell Sigurd stopped his soul and was like "I see myself in you (affectionate derogatory)" and then gave Riddle his current name. Very "If you have nothing to live for then live for me" this whole situation kinda is for them
But oh god the DRAMA
Sigurd has been King for so long that he doesn't believe things can get better and that the human world just keeps going downhill, so because of his unique position of being so detached from so long he decides that the only way to fix everything is to shake things up
To which "shake things up" means use his power to swap the positions of the real world and hell
And so Riddle has past decided he'd do anything for him, HOWEVER
Sigurd instructs Riddle in the event that he fails, Riddle is to be the one to kill him so he can make sure his soul reincarnates so that Sigurd can have another chance. And YEAH Riddle does it! But by god does he have tangible feelings about it! All of the other undertakers who knew him at this time describe it as if Riddle was never really the same after that
Heck Riddle was so broken up after that that Roen ended up curating a seemingly onesided love where he wished to live domestically with Riddle and make him happy so he'd never look so sad again
Riddle is so devoted to Sigurd's plan that he plays the long game, and orchestrates practically everything, so he can tear Sigurd out of Hayato and see him again
And that whole event is a BUNDLE of devotion and betrayal and angst holy christ
Do you ever spend centuries following the person you care about most, even after they're dead, and everything goes perfectly except by the time you see him again you've also fallen for his reincarnation and his reincarnation's humanity so you have to be the one to end your beloved once more but you also betray your other beloved in the process because you feel as if you should be eternally punished?
God damn, Riddle
Anyways they're married they're divorced they're married again they're having sexual intimacy in secret they're best pals they're soulmates they have tension they have an unexplained scene in front of a mirror where they're hugging🙂
Ooooh haha Mikamatsu I never get to talk about them
Tumblr media
Two in a row?? CRAZY
Okay I bet you're wondering how a certified rarepair could get so many squares
Well, let's begin with where this ship began for me
Anyone who knows me knows I used to end up with a lot of ships that center around the same person, but wouldn't include the third ship in what would make it a triangle (for example, like liking xxc x sl and xxc x xy, but not xy x xxc). Now, however I tend to be more open to that "secret third ship".
All this to say that I sorta entertained the idea when I was already shipping mikalight and matsulight
But anyways. One day I got to thinking about the death note ending (be aware that I wasn't aware at the time that the manga ending was different)
Or, more specifically, an au in which Mikami lived after yellow box (which I am aware now is canon). I had seen the manga panels of how Matsuda felt about Light after all this, so I thought about them both having feelings about Light.
And that created an angsty Mikamatsu au where Matsuda visits Mikami in prison to learn about what he knew about Light at first, so both of them learn about parts of Light they didn’t know through each other, bond over his death, kiss and yeah
That was the gateway, and now they're everything to me
They're perfect for angst, aus where they were roommates during the events in canon or met at the gym. They're perfect for child raising aus and bonding over the same guy
And yes, they would get sexually intimate with the same guy (Light) in my head
Everything I enjoy about them is made up but oh the what ifs oh the possibilities. Throwing Matsuda’s sweetness and Mikami’s devotion into everything
Also if you haven't already or I convinced you...read these fics
This one is Xion's. It's a fairy-tale au and I adore it:
And this one is just ah so so sweet man I love it:
And now for the one no one expected!
Ienzo/Xexion x Sephiroth
Tumblr media
So you all might be sitting here wondering
Why
Why them? An utter crackship
Well, some of you are aware of a funky au I have that has leagues of lore and worldbuilding and only two fics, the most self indulgent au in my catalog.
That au, is the Twilight Prince au.
What I have learned through fandom is that if you make the situation in which the characters interact, you can make up almost any ship that no one would have thought up otherwise, and you can make it believable by giving them a dynamic.
So, in the business of maybe getting some of you to understand the why, I will explain a bit of the au that no one but my beloved best friend knows about
Now, the aus "Twilight Prince" in question, is Riku from Kingdom Hearts. I had to think up family structures for characters in this au, and so because I love dumb things like this, Xion and I came up with the idea of having the other Rikus as Riku's siblings, and Sephiroth as the current King of the Twilight.
So, yes. One of those "Sephiroth is Riku's dad" aus😂
The next family structure I had to think up was Kairi's. You see, Kairi kingdom hearts is the current young adult queen of Hyrule. She's trying to facilitate peace between Hyrule and the realm of twilight. In the renga fic for the au, I made references to their being war and tensions, so of course I had to figure out how that all came about.
Thus I decided that Ansem the Wise would be Kairi's grandfather, because I decided that, well, he would be my choice for making tensions and the war worse. Through this, I put some structure into the castle staff. Even is head royal scientist and has a secret but not so secret thing going on with Ansem tw. Kairi needed parents. Ienzo is practically the Ansem tw/Even adopted child in kh canon. Ansem tw practically pays high status women to sleep with him until he can produce an heir (Ienzo).
So, long story short. Kairi is Ienzo's test tube baby, Ansem tw is super controlling during Ienzo's short reign as King. Ienzo doesn't really love being King anyways and feels trapped. When Kairi comes of age and is decently prepared he fakes his death and passes the Kingdom on to her (she is aware of this btw)
And so, King Ienzo rebrands himself as Zexion, royal scientist (after splitting for a while and learning more before ending up working his way up through the castle of course).
Now, keep in mind. The people don't know he's the same guy. To most of the people, Zexion isn't incredibly well known. The castle family structure? They're aware by now, but they can't do anything about it. So, they allow Zexion to go on trips to the Twilight Realm on Royal business (or basically, Twili King Sephiroth and Queen Kairi both allow the other to handpick people to send across borders under supervision, and Zexion is there for scientific reasons).
Now, Sephiroth isn't stupid either. He knows Zexion is the presumed dead King Ienzo.
And pretty much what happens is they sorta end up in this will they won’t they relationship where they're passive aggressive to each other but also Sephiroth invites Ienzo to what's practically a private Twili spa and yeah tensions go up and things just...begin for them. Sephiroth is a bit hopelessly attracted, Ienzo is definitely ace and arospec
I love them

An obnoxiously long essay on why I headcanon that Bakugo Katsuki struggles with undiagnosed OCD. Trigger warnings for mental health discussion, intrusive thoughts, self degradation, depression, anxiety and more. As a hefty disclaimer before I go into too much detail, I do not claim to understand what everyone with OCD experiences; I am only speaking from personal experience as someone who was diagnosed with OCD late in life and how I've come to relate to Katsuki through common struggles seen in the show. I don't think Horikoshi intended to write him with OCD at all which is why I am firmly calling it a headcanon and nothing more. So without further ado, enjoy my ramblings and please share your thoughts !!
OCD ( Obsessive-compulsive disorder ) is, by definition, a common, chronic, and long-lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts ("obsessions") and/or behaviors ("compulsions") that an individual feels the urge to repeat over and over. In popular media this might look to most people like the obsessive need to clean, have things organized, or repeat motions a certain number of times. Realistically, however, OCD is much broader than what is commonly seen and Psychologists are still learning about this intrinsically complicate disorder. It has over fifty ' symptoms ' to be considered when diagnosing, and many of them not at all like what anyone would expect. This is why I feel like Bakugo Katsuki would go undiagnosed, because he displays the more non-traditional signs of OCD albeit obvious ones. Here are some examples: MENTAL CONTAMINATION Mental Contamination is evoked when a person feels badly treated by their terms, whether this be an outward or perceived insult, it creates a feeling of internal uncleanliness that turns into an impulsive need to prove said person wrong and / or make them take back what they had said to trigger them in the first place. Mental Contamination does not require any physical touch, and it can spiral into a plethora of reactions based on an individual; shutting down, crying, getting angry and retaliating. Though it sounds like something everyone will go through in their life time, for an individual with OCD it becomes an obsession. Something they can't stop stressing over, thinking about, losing sleep or productivity over it and allowing a simple comment or disrespectful individual completely tear their life apart for months at a time. We see this in Katsuki a lot in his earlier years, specifically anytime Izuku seemingly ' disrespects ' or ' patronizes ' him ( as perceived by Katsuki. )
Tumblr media
You can also note that Katsuki holds onto his losses, which to him others beating him is also a perceived point of disrespect ( especially from those he considers lower than him like Izuku ) and agonizes over them to the point of sheer rage. It's a form of anxiety to work oneself up to a point of emotional turmoil over losing. Of course people will argue his pride and ego are what lead him to be so angry when he doesn't come out on top, but OCD and someone's ego are not mutually exclusive. There's something to be said about Katsuki's dissonance as outwardly he appears over confident but inwardly he's well aware of his own misgivings; albeit mostly physical rather than his emotional or personal one's in the beginning of the manga. He shuts down, he fawns, until he is once again perceiving someone as ( in this case Izuku ) as being patronizing towards him and then he immediately responds with rage because it's become a crutch for him.
Tumblr media
PHYSICAL CONTAMINATION Far less imposing than mental contamination in Katsuki's case, but still a key point of his personality ( otherwise I doubt it'd be mentioned in the manga at all. ) He is super cleanly, and grows both angry and uncomfortable when things are messy! This is shown often during the dorming period for UA students, and it's clear that even if it can be called out as a moot point as many people are cleanly they're never so obsessed with having a clean space that they force everyone in the vicinity to begin tidying; while also taking full control of how things are done, so that he knows they're done right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again this can be considered a moot point, and I'd understand if this was disregarded by many! However, couple it with the remainder of symptoms I'm going to list and it's just another piece to a puzzle of the struggles Katsuki faces. Realistically, a 15 year old boy shouldn't be concerned with the cleanliness of a dorm room and yet here we are. Could it be considered an attempt to humanize his character a bit? Yes, and I'm all here for it. Still proves my point a bit. OCD RAGE ATTACKS
Research has shown that about half of OCD patients receive what is called Rage Attacks or Anger Attacks. They're specified as being triggered by their frustrations over their inability to control their obsessions and compulsions, or through interruptions in their compulsive rituals. This might not remind you of Katsuki initially, but consider these facts carefully; Katsuki is a control freak. Often if things do not go his way he loses his damn mind, and again that can be chalked up to his ego, pride, whatever but when it comes down to it his rage is so out of place and intense that everyone mentions it on a regular basis . . . which only triggers him into an ever deeper rage because he realizes he cannot control said outbursts. Katsuki has an compulsive obsession with becoming the number one hero, it's all he ever talks about to the point of pushing away friends, family, and even his own mentors later in the manga. Whenever this obsession becomes seemingly threatened or unattainable, he is overcome with rage as a response. Often this is due to Izuku constantly challenging him, but later we can also see it with anyone who might be better than him and threatens that compulsion, that need to be the best. Also consider how angry he becomes if he feels he didn't fairly win something, for example his one on one with Todoroki that left Katsuki pissed to the point of needing to be restrained.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a fight when he cannot control an outcome, he cannot be expected to win or win the way he wants and therefore this throws a wrench in his compulsion to be the best and thus triggers a rage attack. Regularly, when people say rude things or disrespect him or mock him it's not something he can stop or control ( the way they think of him, the violence he is compelled to commit etc.. ) and therefore it triggers a rage attack. It's all about control for him, just like it's all about control for those with OCD who struggle with compulsions and their inability to control those around them or themselves from doing something they may regret. INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS ( VIOLENT STREAM ) Intrusive thoughts are characterized as having repetitive thoughts. Everyone experiences them, though people with OCD are known to experience disturbing and graphic intrusive thoughts that set them apart from the general public. Often they are violent compulsions, even if they have no intentions of following through. It's clear Katsuki has a violent streak, but it's also clear he can hold himself back when he needs to . . . unless he's triggered into acting out his intrusive and violent thoughts. He's often made fun of by readers / viewers for constantly using the catchphrase die during battle with friends; it's obvious he's thinking of killing or maiming in his mind but outwardly he has enough control to not act out on those thoughts. We also can't forgot the infamous line of his: telling Izuku to take a swan dive off the roof is very clearly a point in Katsuki's life where he was at his lowest mentally based solely on his obvious insecurities. His intrusive thoughts commonly turn to violence, because it compliments his rage and is easier than sorting through all the other emotions. It makes sense something so cruel would crop up in his mind, and his decision to say it despite knowing it isn't socially acceptable is the exact reason I theorize his OCD controls him far more than he controls it in his younger years. He's compelled to say nasty out of pocket shit and he just does. But, as expected, when he is a bit older controlling his words is easier and he's far less inclined to say something totally out of line. Because now he knows it's unacceptable and with age comes a self recognition that helps people with OCD understands their thoughts are not who they really are. Which I could go on a spiel about why that is important to Katsuki's character, as he's always being likened to a villain despite his hard as steel moral compass but that's besides the point.

AVOIDANCE
My closing point is probably my strongest, because If I said Bakugo is really damn good at running away from his emotions everyone would hard agree with me. Avoidance is one of the key symptoms of OCD aside from Intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviour; it's when an individual specifically avoids their triggers and when they're faced with it, they either fawn or like Katsuki they rage. Perhaps Katsuki chalks it up to just hating Izuku, but realistically the guy is a trigger for him ( from no fault of his own of course ) due to his own insecurities and inability to reconcile with the fact that Izuku is not trying to destroy him / disrespect him. As a result, he's keen to avoid him as much as possible. So of course he's going to be pissed when he realizes someone he thought was quirkless shows up at the school he's dreamed of going to since he was young, though it isn't exactly reasonable nothing about experiencing trigger avoidance or rage attacks is. This doesn't excuse Katsuki's bullshit, it never will and thankfully canonically he realizes that but his need to isolate himself from others to avoid being triggered is so obvious to me in the way he refuses to make close and meaningful connections. Because despite the fandom outlook, if we're being fair, Katsuki really isn't close to anyone in class 1-A. Not until much later in the manga, as he grows and matures. It's a constant cycle: Izuku chases, and Katsuki avoids.
Tumblr media
Another side point that isn't exactly a symptom of OCD but is something I, as someone who does struggle with OCD, can relate to is that Katsuki mentions in the manga that he always felt miles behind Izuku. Clearly he didn't mean in power because he was originally quirkless, but he means emotionally. Katsuki was always the bully, he always saw his own faults and masqueraded them with a false sense of confidence. There's a self hatred that comes with being the only one to know your own shitty thoughts and behaviors, while also not understanding them or being able to control them. Couple that with a hefty sense of pride after spending your entire childhood being told you were born to be something special like Katsuki was . . . and you end up with someone who is dangerously unbalanced. When you struggle with OCD, you always feel one step behind your peers who don't. It's a truth that's hard to come to terms with, and it hurt me to hear Katsuki say those words to Izuku and not really know the weight behind what he's admitting. It's a step in the right direction, but it's also a confession of years of turmoil and pain mistaken for brashness and over confidence. It will never excuse what he's done and who he's hurt, but I understand him. Thank you for reading!

Why I am less active ~ again ~
Cw: mental health // selfshipping // spoilers [One Piece]
Might delete this later, but I am having a moment and I honestly do not know where else to post this without coming across as annoying or weird or whatever.
Please DO NOT REBLOG.
So, it's been an emotional week or two, I have been sick because of sleep deprivation on top of it all and I am pretty sure shark week is coming up, so I am being an emotional mess right now. I won't bother y'all with the details, cause frankly, they don't matter. But I can feel my mental health just spiraling down and I have no way to stop it. It'll soon be the summer holiday, and hopefully I will have some time to recuperate.
Anyway, that's not what it is about here. This is about the most recent OP chapter leaks, altho by now it might actually be out (idk, I usually actually don't follow the manga *this* closely). If you're not there and you don't want to be spoiled then please consider this your final warning to stop reading.
So, in the final chapter Ashura and Izo died. Now... I have not been following super closely, and I am not even sure why I checked the spoilers earlier. I know it's fictional characters, trust me, I am 10000% aware. And yet. Izo's death has hit me a little harder than I expected.
For the past 2 years, he's been my main comfort character and I was actively selfshipping with him. Not so much on Tumblr because I am too self-aware and insecure to throw it out in the open like that, but on discord, among friends, and in some little writings that I never shared up here.
Selfshipping has been a great comfort while I figure out what is wrong with me mental health wise. It's been a great tool to figure out what I look for IRL relationships, hell it's been a help figuring out my sexuality, all in a safe online environment, helping me reflect on the real life that's not online. It's been a great comfort whenever I feel insecure, a source of humor to look back onto on bad days, just a very nice coping mechanism for when the depresso hits hard.
It's nothing new that a comfort character dies, it's almost a running meme that 90% of my comfort characters don't make the end of whatever medium they're part of and usually I handle it pretty well. An emotional reaction at the moment I see/read/hear it happen, and maybe some exaggerated online outrage, then some memes and acceptance, 5 stages of grief, but make it funny kinda thing.
But for some reason, this hit super hard? Be it hormones, depression, the fact that my real life is having some struggles at the moment... it just was the figurative drop that made the bucket spill (is that how you say it in English?) and I have been crying some real human tears over non real characters.
I had planned a tiny break while being on weekend with my students and wanted to get back to writing (especially for the summer event and OP bingo) the moment I got home. Instead I kinda got teary eyed and shut my laptop again. My head just fills with Angsty thoughts, and while those are all fun and games whenever I am in a good place, now is not the moment for it. So I am taking a little break again, I am extremely sorry.
I *will* get over it, and will do what any other fanfic writer does in situations like this: ignore canon and move on. But for now it kinda hurts and I feel silly even admitting to it.
Anyway. I just needed to let that out, writing down my feelings is somewhat cathartic and I am running out of tissues, so I had to try something else. I am not even sure if many people will read this because my range has been a little less again lately, but I just had to get it off my chest? Sorry for making you read this entire rambling wall of text if you're still reading. I am not even sure if I am making any sense at all.
Signing off with loads of love, and drink a lot of water, be gentle for yourself, it's what I am doing rn as well. ♡
Love, Hazel
Ps: please don't reblog, invalidate my feelings cause the characters are not real or if you don't like selfshipping. Anything negative said, I'll just block.

Sensoron
I personally was not a big fan of this manga, while granted, I am not a big fan of manga in general… so I might be a little biased.
I knew going into it that this piece would have similar themes of war like Hetalia, but I thought this one approached it way differently. For starters, it seemed like this piece almost had pro-war themes, which was a little bit strange. I don't think that anything good comes out of war in general, and especially not world war 2, so I don't know if I was just reading into that wrong, but I completely disagree with war being a positive thing in any way.
I also understand that countries are all going to have those nationalist ideas, but it just seemed like Sensoron was trying to make Japan out to be the victim of all of the events, which is not the case at all. Of course, we in the West are probably a little biased, and by no means am I saying that we were in the right either. But you can't completely victimize a country, acting like it did nothing wrong, when that isn't historically accurate at all. I found that to be a very frustrating piece of propaganda designed to make the Japanese smpathize and merge together in this shared idea of "we were the victims". But again, look at history. That was what caused WW2 in the first place. The Germans felt like they were the losers of WW1, and got punished more than they deserved. That self-victimization was what pushed the civillians to be affected by things that horrible leaders, such as Hitler were saying, where he claimed he would bring Germany back to greatness and that they would no longer be the victims of the post-war society. And that is what this manga really reminded me of, was the type of propaganda sent out during that time to stir up the population and convince them that they were the victims.
However, despite that little ramble, I will admit that the manga does bring up some good points about how media often invents fake quotes and re-used images out of context to dehumanize a country or to push their agenda. And it is true that sometimes sources are not completely accurate, and this manga is reminding us to be wary of what we believe. I think that is something that people need to be aware of, especially with AI becoming more popular and having the ability to create realistic looking images. However, while it is true that sources are not always completely accurate, you can't deny the war crimes that Japan committed, and there was empirical evidence and hard proof that these events were real and did take place, so I thought that whole argument was weird and too biased.
Overall, I think this manga was a bit too biased and too one-sided with its ideas. While I agree that we should not believe everything we read in the newspapers, I think it's also important to accept and understand history and current events, and make informed decisions about what is real and what is not real, as well as fact check what we are reading. But you need to acknowledge that even if you don't want your country to be painted in a negative light, you can't deny history and you shouldn't try to sweep atrocities under the rug. When you do that, it just creates more problems later (again as seen throughout history… think Armenian genocide and the fact that some people still deny it happened). So overall, I wasn't a big fan of the ideas of this manga, but it was cool to read something instead of watch something for this class, and I found it interesting to find a piece of pro-war manga just sitting out there.
