I feel like whenever people talk about the Shroud parents based solely on the flashback scenes in Book 6, while some of the criticisms are valid, people tend to forget about one crucial thing:

Yes, Idia did lost a brother that day. But the Shrouds also lost a son. Based on what we've seen of them in Book 7, I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't mourn the loss of their own child (especially mama Shroud, that poor woman).

As someone who have personally experienced a loss that affected an entire family and seen my own mother wrecked with grief, I can't even begin to imagine how mama Shroud reacted when she heard about what happened to her baby that one fateful day she and her husband were away.

I also find it hard to believe that they didn't try to coerce Idia out of his room at least once, but at the same time I feel like they'd understand that their very young child would need some time and space to process his guilt and grief (hell, they're also trying to process their own guilt and grief).

Lowkey, I feel like they all had a pretty unhealthy way of grieving the loss of Ortho (Idia shutting himself away from the world and his parents busying themselves with their work). Which is why Idia turned out the way he did in Book 6.

Part of the reason Idia likes cats so much is because he knows realistically he could probably own one. They dont need to go out much. When he and ortho were really little, they really wanted a dog. The full "make your parents sit down to give them a powerpoint why we should get a pet" thing. but it just isnt possible with their curse. Idia since accepted that, but he still likes the idea of living with a pet. Also, cats are cute and soft

A lil crossover moment with Ghoulia Yelps and Idia Shroud coz I've been itching to draw two completely unrelated characters with atleast one similarity together and these two came to mind first.

I was fighting for my life trying to figure out how to render Idia's hair coz we know its fire but also hair. Like I can't render it with physics in mind coz its magic and its brighter on the ends where as real fire would be brighter on the middle. In the end I just decided to go with trying to replicate how his hair looks like canonically and added my own twist. Struggles aside, working on his hair was really fun.

Also the rendering is quite inconsistent because I was experimenting with some stuff I discovered in Krita so I kind of got carried away.

Idia wouldn't talk to girls but I think that he'd be chill with Ghoulia since she's a fellow gamer and intellectual and the fact that she's a zombie alone would very much catch Idia's attention.

Now you are stuck with a sleeping Leona. If you decide to rest and fall asleep, he gives you a forehead kiss.

He raises his eyebrow at you, but then laughs it off. He takes hold of your hand and kisses it while staring at you the whole time, making you turn into an embarrassed mess. He just loves that look of yours, so he gets a little bolder and slowly kisses up your arm. Once he is done, he tells you your hair looks dishevelled and suggests you come with him so that he can fix it. Will he really just fix your hair? We will never know.

Finds it so interesting that you just kissed his forehead. To be fair, he knows that you have been kissing everyone’s forehead, so he was just waiting painfully for his turn. Now that he finally got his kiss, he isn’t completely satisfied. Only one kiss? If you give in and give him another, he will go in for your defenceless neck and give it a kiss. You jump in your spot with the unexpected touch, and you can only watch as he laughs at your embarrassed reaction.

He had been hiding from you since he overheard your conversation about kissing him with Ortho. Don't get him wrong, he had been dreaming of you kissing him for the longest time ever, but the thought of it actually happening scares him away. So when you found his hiding spot, his room, and just took hold of his blushing face, you gave him a soft forehead kiss. He won't move from his spot no matter what you do, so you just decide to leave him alone. At night, he will be giggling, twirling his hair, waving his legs in the air while thinking about the kiss you gave him.

Oh my, a forehead kiss? He is so glad for the sweet gesture. However, he is also aware that you have been kissing everyone’s foreheads, and he had been spending all of his time hearing a whining Malleus who had yet to receive one of those kisses from you. So he takes hold of you and just teleports you to Malleus, leaving the two of you alone.

Literally runs to you as soon as he sees you, with this not suspicious at all look on his face as he tries to start a normal conversation with you. But he keeps on throwing random comments about kisses and foreheads. He keeps showing his forehead to you as if trying to convey what he wants. When you tell him that you can't reach his forehead, his eyes widen as he had never thought of it before. So he leans down, and he finally gets his well-deserved kiss. You can see how happy he is, there is this silly smile plastered on his face, and he can’t get it to go away.

winter was here, the ground was covered with layers of fresh snow and harsh winds blew mercilessly.

meanwhile, you were holed up with idia in the confines of his room. the two of you huddled close, wrapped in his warm fuzzy blanket.

you watched idia play some games on the screen as your hands wove together flowers upon flowers, as if they were on autopilot.

at one point, you spaced out while still weaving, which made idia turn to you with a confused look.

he had to poke you out of your daze, then sent you a questioning stare.

you only hummed, and tied the stems, finally finishing the flower crown. you then proceeded to place the crown gently on his head.

idia blinked, staring owlishly at you as his hair gradually glowed a pinkish shade.

he knew what those flowers were, they were native to the island of woes after all. he had read about its meanings, too.

as individuals, narcissus flowers represent creativity, inspiration, awareness and inner reflection, forgiveness, and vitality, all of which described him quite accurately. but giving a bunch of them means to ensure happiness and loyalty to your significant other, which was also directing at him.

idia felt as if his heart was doing backflips. he didn't expect to receive such a gift from you, and on the day before his birthday, no less.

looking down, he noticed you made another flower crown that was on your lap. he picked it up and gingerly placed it on your head, a tiny smile formed when he saw the surprise evident on your face.

"whee hee hee... now we're match." you only chuckled with him, feeling a familiar heat rushed to your cheeks.

the two of you decided to binge-watch some anime series, but underneath the blanket was your hands entwined, fingers interlocking as your hearts beat together as one.

Your friends, the first years, gave you scrapbook to hold all your memories, and matching bracelets

The scrapbook has pictures of everytime all of you guys have hanged out together, and some pages are still left empty to fill out more and more memories. The bracelets have all your main colors on each and every one of them, and connect to each other when close by. They have a striped pattern of Red(Ace), Dark Blue(Deuce), Yellow(Jack), Purple(Epel), Light Blue(Ortho), Green(Sebek), Grey(Grim), and [insert your main color](You).

Ace says the bracelets were "Duece's 'stupid' idea" But in all seriousness, he also loves them.

These things are something you can have so if you ever end up finding a way home, you can take it with you to remember them.
