A/N: I came across Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez again recently (a 1925 short story written in English and a classic in Philippine literature), and I was reminded of how I’ve always wanted to capture a fraction of the essence of that story ever since I read it in high school. But I sort of flipped it on its head and came up with this! My hand also slipped so lots of things happen. And given that I finished watching Business Proposal before I started writing and since I have no knowledge of the food production industry or the corporate world in general, several terms and elements were taken from that show (but it’s a completely different story). So please, don’t mind the inaccuracies! Jin has also been a menace 😈 recently so this was incredibly fun and satisfying to write. I hope you enjoy! 🥰🥰

Bubo Marquez-Madrigal Moodboard and headcanons:

He meets Isabella after the events of Encanto.

He and her go on to have two kids (Miguel and Zoey).

Miguel and Zoey are students at Auradon Prep.

Zoey is a band student.

Miguel is a Tourney player.

He loves Isabella and her family dearly.

Bubo has never felt more at home than at the Casita and in the Encanto.

He was an unplanned child and the youngest in his family.

He is the youngest of his family.

His brothers loved to pick on him when they found out what his name meant in Greek, saying that their parents intentionally gave him an insulting name.

Bubo was never sure if that was true, seeing as his grandmother was Greek.

He was cast out because he was not the son his father wanted because he was nerdy and odd instead of strong and athletic.

Bubo and Isabella went with a hyphenated last name because despite Bubo's bad relationship with his family, he still wanted to honor his ancestors.

He refuses to reconnect with his family after they try to reconnect with him upon somehow finding out he had kids. He didn't want that toxicity around his children and Isabella agreed with him on that.

To avoid confusion, I know Bubo means "Owl" in Latin. That is not the definition which is insulting.

The definition I am talking about is:

"Word Origin for bubo C14: from Medieval Latin bubō swelling, from Greek boubōn groin, glandular swelling."

As well as " An inflamed swelling of a lymph node, esp. in the armpit or groin."

And "A bubo (Greek βουβών, boubṓn, 'groin') is adenitis or inflammation of the lymph nodes and is an example of reactive lymphadenopathy.." Also let me know if anyone wants to know more about my ocs or see how I would incorporate other scrapped Encanto characters. I would love to work on them. Or any of the stuff I work on. It helps me when I am inbetween fics I am writing.
