Okay, so Clouxie has my heart.

Look, I know that Claire changed a bit in character between Trollhunters and Wizards, but I believe they would have worked even in the earlier seasons.

I said in the other post that Claire takes to wizardry like an academic course of study, and Douxie does that too. Jim used lots of magical artifacts during his time as Trollhunter. But he and Toby just winged it, seldom understanding the full danger or potential of magic nor being interested in the deeper lore. Claire, on the other hand, learned Trollspeak (runes), and read up on Troll history. She clearly practiced using the shadow staff and exploring the shadow realm, trying to find things out about Morgana. She made some mistakes, sure, but she learned from them and produced good, stable results. She did all those things because she thought them necessary.

Now, Douxie is a literal student under Merlin and so he learns the rules and frameworks of magic from his teacher. But on top of that, Douxie has fun with magic. You bet he writes his own runes. He creates his own spells, and therefore matches Claire in the self-taught yet studious approach. Douxie, too, will do whatever is necessary to get things done. Claire will devote her time to learning every power move there is on the planet to successfully apply it, and Douxie will match that by sacrificing himself first, then improvise. They're the same in different ways, and can learn a lot from each other. E.g. in Wizards, Claire teaches Douxie to be a teacher (getting past the door dorks) and how to solve a problem with logic and persistence, even in the face of them both being overwhelmed by emotion. In return, Douxie's playfulness causes Claire to learn a spell that's purely meant for fun (magic butterflies that she lets fly on her date with Jim). Look, each of their teaching sessions is so top tier it's incredible. They so greatly enhance each other's confidence and ability just by interacting naturally, it makes me jealous just watching those scenes. They both love learning and they both bloom as they learn together. They literally have some soft physical moments too, e.g. where he catches her after she exhausted herself by letting the trolls escape, where he comforts her about Jim being in jail, etc.

Point is, they've got each other emotionally and that is one of the most attractive things ever to me. They share a kind of trust that Jlaire and Zouxie just couldn't build for the life of them. In those pairings, one person will always go and do something stupid without notifying their s/o, resulting in the other person being mad. Clouxie have the same mission, the same goal, they work together and they are doing it flawlessly and beautifully and effortlessly.

They went through the most absurd circumstances together that neither Jim nor Zoe witnessed, and they conquered them together instead of shutting the other party out.

So ya. Clouxie for the win. Rudely said, Jim is a shitty boyfriend - I don't get why Claire stays with him long-term, seriously - and Zoe doesn't grasp all of who Douxie really is. She only knows the part of him that she kicks ass with, and can't truly appreciate his sensitive side. But I feel like that's a personality thing - she couldn't even if she tried to. They're just different.

Thoughts about it, anyone?

So yes I have OF COURSE read @naffeclipse new fic Apex Polarity and yes, I AM OBSESSED!

So I decided to make a little comic of how I think their "first encounter" might have looked like from Eclipse's perspective.

I can't help but think about how alien and scary we most look to him (especially if there is a history of fasco hunting polar sirens in the past). With all that gear we look like emotionless beings, just observing and uncaring of this ice world. But then when y/n shows up and probably exudes this joy and wonder for his world + shows respect for the creatures and the environment??? Mmh yeah, I can see Eclipse falling for y/n, especially considering how alone he might be...

So yes, that's what I have for today! If you want to read the fic I'll link it right here. I can't recommend it enough, but as always, read the tags so you know what you're getting into! And lastly I also want to @themeeplord beacuse Eclipse's design is basically their design in my style (god I love their design so much, their character/creature designs are the BEST) so all the credit goes to them! Hi, I hope you're doing better! I was wondering what your take would be on Yohan's reaction to Ga On if he slipped into a coma after a serious attack or something. Because obviously there would be some abyss shenanigans, but do you think he'd be split into wanting to hover and protect Ga On while he's asleep or just getting revenge? Which do you think he'd prioritise and what do you think he'd be thinking?

I also just wanted to let you know that I find your work amazing, especially Who Holds the Devil and The Gentle Light. You mention how you're worried about letting us down with it, but I think you forget how much you've already given. It's not that we're expecting something and that you could disappoint us, but it is what you do that makes us love it more. The way you think and write are incredible, as is your perspective on the characters and their interactions. Thank you so much for all your hard work and effort!

Oooooh! That's a really interesting question! I think my answer, at least when it comes to the finer nuances, would depend on a) when this happens (i.e. during or post canon), b) if they know who might be behind it (because during canon it would be easy to assume it's Jung Sun Ah or the like) and c) what their relationship is at the time (i.e. are they still just coworkers or are they in a romantic relationship).

But, in broad strokes, I think Yo Han would prioritise getting revenge. Not because he doesn't feel a need to hover — he definitely would — but because he's a pragmatic, efficient, and goal-oriented person down to his core. Meaning that as soon as it's established that Ga On is in a coma and that there's nothing Yo Han can do to help him, Yo Han will admit that his time is best spent elsewhere.

After making sure that Ga On has the best care money can buy and bodyguards to protect him, of course.

The thing about Yo Han is that he can look past his own emotions and focus on what needs to be done in a way — and on a level — that few are capable of. Which at times makes him look rather unsympathetic, sure, but is honestly one of the ways he shows concern. Like, to him, just sitting there waiting for Ga On to wake up would probably feel like an insult to Ga On and Yo Han's devotion to him. Yo Han's instincts would tell him to DO something about it instead but, since he's not a doctor, his presence in Ga On's hospital room makes no difference whatsoever. Which means he'd decide it's better for him to focus on trying to catch and punish those who hurt Ga On.

That's not to say that he also won't spend as much time as possible hovering — especially if they're in a romantic relationship. This also depends a little on where Elijah is, but I wouldn't put it past Yo Han to — after a long day of chasing the culprit — make a habit of sleeping in Ga On's hospital room instead of going back to the house. Because Yo Han HAS to sleep eventually and so he might as well do it where he has Ga On close by.

What little time he doesn't spend chasing leads and making plans, he'd spend with Ga On.

And yes, this definitely means Yo Han wouldn't really be taking all that good care of himself, neither physically nor mentally. Like, if this is post-canon and he and Ga On are in some kind of relationship? Just IMAGINE how lost Yo Han would feel. It's clear, even in the drama, that Ga On's presence reminds Yo Han to be kinder and gentler, not just to those around him but also himself. Ga On often mentions how much Yo Han grounds him in Who Holds the Devil, but he doesn't seem to realise that it's the same for Yo Han. The only difference is the way they need to be grounded and what behaviour that grounding is preventing.

And a post-canon, lovestruck Yo Han who suddenly finds himself without Ga On's gentleness and kindness to soothe and calm him?

Yeah, that won't go well.

Not in a way that Yo Han would necessarily care about, though. Or, maybe more accurately, he'd decide it's worth the sacrifice to find whoever hurt Ga On. Even if he, deep down, would know that, no, Ga On would NOT agree with that. Ga On wouldn't want him to put himself or his humanity at risk. But that's not the same as actually having Ga On there to tell him to stop.

Like, to be honest with you, I think Yo Han might even end up being extra reckless and violent because some part of him hopes that means Ga On will come back to him sooner. As if he can force Ga On to wake up simply by doing the thing he knows Ga On hates. Maybe he's even punishing Ga On a little?

"Look at what you made me do, Ga On-ah, when you're not here to stop me."

"If you don't wake up soon, I'll do something even worse."

"This is what happens when you leave me."

Which isn't reasonable (or healthy) by any means — especially for such a calm and collected person as Yo Han — but he's also a frightened, abused child who never got to develop his emotions and social skills in a good way.

He's never been in love before.

He'd be so scared.

And desperation makes us unreasonable, especially when we're afraid we might lose someone we love. He'd grasp for whatever stability he can, especially since his usual anchor isn't there anymore. He'd look fine on the outside but, on the inside, he'd be a mess. There would be fear and pain and anger and helplessness and sorrow and hope and longing. And he wouldn't really know how to deal with all of that since, at that point, he's probably gotten used to processing most of his feelings with Ga On's — knowing and unknowing — help.

Yo Han, like many children with his history, is very adept at regulating his own emotions, mainly because he had to as a survival tactic. He probably learned from a young age which ones he was allowed to show and all the other ones were suppressed until he was out of his father's reach. He's also good at reading a room since that, too, is necessary for survival in a violent household. Granted that Yo Han now mostly uses those skills to manipulate and intimidate people, but he is well aware of emotions, how to curb them, how to influence them, and how to use them to his advantage.

What he doesn't know is how to process them in a normal and healthy way. But, in the drama, we see him begin to test the waters when it comes to using Ga On as a sounding board. He says things, sees how Ga On reacts, and gets clues on how a more well-adjusted person would process that information. And I think that's something Yo Han would continue doing, bouncing his emotions off of Ga On to see what's actually a reasonable reaction.

But, more importantly, to get validation. To see, with his own eyes, that his fear, hurt, anger, pain etc. is valid. Ga On feels it too, just from hearing of Yo Han's trauma so, clearly, it mustn't be wrong for Yo Han to feel that, too. It doesn't make him weak. He's allowed to feel that way.

I think that Ga On would become Yo Han's emotional lodestar. Which I wouldn't call healthy, exactly, but what about their relationship is? x'D

ANYWAY. The delicious consequence of this is, of course, that Yo Han is left directionless and adrift, with no way to properly handle all the very intense emotions he's feeling. And that probably means that when Ga On finally wakes up again (be it weeks or months later) Yo Han will be in such a state that the moment Ga On hugs him, he'll break.

Or, well, as close to breaking as you can get when you're Kang Yo Han.

All the emotions will come rushing to the surface since his brain just recognised that the person who usually helps him deal with all of that is back and so now it's safe to let it out, right?

Yo Han vehemently disagrees, I'm sure, because he's got a reputation to uphold! And he can't just suddenly break down in his sugar baby's arms! Especially since said sugar baby just woke from a coma and is still weak! This is so inconvenient!

Unfortunately, he doesn't have much of a choice.

Sucks to be you, Yo Han.

But at least he has Ga On there to hold him, kiss him, and make it better?

SO YEAH. Something like that, I guess? I think Yo Han would be HELLA worried but is also too goal-oriented not to choose to focus on revenge. He'd probably become incredibly restless if he didn't.

Not literally (I remember it with surprising accuracy a lot of the time) but it's sometimes difficult to remember that I've already written 400k when I always have to focus on posting the next chapter and then the next chapter and then the next chapter. I rarely get the time to sit down and just revel in what I've already written? Especially since I want the story to continue just as much as the rest of you.

And while the majority of the comments are absolutely lovely, I do sometimes get ones demanding new chapters or ones questioning the choices I make in the story (especially the length). They're definitely in a minority so far, but that doesn't stop the fear that, sooner or later, they'll become the majority.

And, more than anything, I fear the moment when I'll write a bad chapter. I don't even know what would constitute a bad chapter or what I would have to do for it to become one, but I'm still afraid of it.

Which probably isn't reasonable, but since when are our anxiety brains reasonable?

So I try my best not to think about it, and receiving such kind messages as yours definitely helps. Thank you 💜 I'm so very glad to hear that you like my works, especially my takes on the characters since that is (perhaps not so surprisingly) something I put a lot of effort into and take a lot of pride in, too. I LOVE these characters and want to do them justice by writing them as best I can, even if that means the fic ends up being the behemoth it now is because they cannot move faster than a glacier x'D

So yeah. Thank you so, so much. Both for the fun question and the encouragement. It means a lot to me :)

#personal #so here's the thing:#i don't think any of the radiators in my apartment are currently working #which kind of sucks bc it's winter in northern europe lmao #one of them had blown a fuse. which i changed yesterday. and now it's cold again. so there's definitely something wrong with it #two of them. which are located in my bedroom/living room combination. have red lights on #but they are both cold and not heating up my apartment. which means i'm freezing here #so it could be a thermostat or something. i don't know #but because my place was a mess. after having worked for a few months and not having energy to do anything else #i had to clean up here yesterday. because i couldn't call my landlord who lives closeby in case he decided to drop in and see #the mess i was living in. to you know. check on those radiators #so anyway. my apartment is pretty okay now. stuff i still need to clean though but it's mostly minor #but i seem to have strained my lower back doing it. or from sleeping in an awkward position because i was cold #the kind of pain i haven't experienced in months which must be a record for me now #but yeah now my lower back hurts. i can't properly crouch or even twist my body to the side without my knees trying to give out #and i've already taken painkillers for it today. which kind of put me to sleep again and had a lovely little nap a while ago #but this is bothersome #i hope my back feels better by tomorrow so i can finish my cleaning and then message my landlord #because i don't want to freeze here anymore xD and i also don't want my houseplants dying because of it so

SO many feelings about him omgg rant under cut please forgive me

okay so i don't really talk or draw him much cause honestly,,,most of the times i just think he's a bit....boring? or more accurately plain? not in a mean way either but just in a 'fades into the background' type of way like don't get me wrong!! he's a really nice friend to his peers, his feelings about his powers and aura making his relationships harder to navigate and trust along with his whole conflict with nightmare and morality about what's good and bad IS very cool!! and i love it whenever they write him to be complex and not on this black and white mentality or when he's just straight up following along his friends with no free will or with a dubious purpose without ever addressing his issues or feelings! it's just unsatisfying to me :')

or when they're making him the 'naive' and oblivious, (sometimes childish?) character being marked as the obstacle and villain along with the other star sanses from the fic's pov, always talking about doing good things while fighting his brother and not hearing him out about the balance, (and for weak reasons most of the time. like it's been so long and you STILL haven't sat down with him when he's, generally, basically begged you to just have a talk? guys please :'( ) or when they go for the victim sad dream always missing the old nightmare, where corrupted nightmare is the incarnation of evil, with no sympathy or emotion except anger and sadistic glee, killing and hurting everyone and dream's just trying to protect the multiverse and dream's always been in the right. such extremes!!!

LIKE!! i hope i'm not the only one that thinks a 500+ year old should have had enough time to idk. learn things? about people and manipulation and deceit? after knowing what the villagers did to night? about the bad things in the world and how there's a lot of grey areas in life and that he maybe reflected on his past enough to process and ask himself if there should to be a convo to settle his differences with nightmare (and you can make nightmare the stubborn one too! or have them BOTH be petty and imperfect and have some things wrong and some right at the same time like why do i always see the good guy vs bad guy cliché with these two when they're the perfect example of why positivity doesn't have meaning without the negativity!! as long as there's a satisfying evolution or growth that doesn't leave me empty i'm good yknow?)

plus i believe dream really isn't as dumb as people view him. i do get some of you saying he probably can't read or write since that's actually a pretty interesting idea to explore! but in general please let him have emotions other than pure sunshiny happiness or endless sadness like he's gotta have more depth than that! let him make mistakes, have flaws that don't just make him the bad guy that's always in the wrong by default, and be angry or suspicious or jealous or bitter or battling his mental health problems/depression or malicious or smart or witty or mischievous and silly or sarcastic or ANYTHING dude i just want him to be put into different scenarios where he can be serious or lighthearted like it doesn't even have to be long or perfect but make him feel real.

it could definitely be that i don't read or see much art about dream or really look for it hard enough but also i just. i feel bad for even saying this fr and i wanna be honest about why i don't enjoy most stories about him cause he always gets the worst treatment along with ink!!! especially ink omg the poor guy has it the worst i think like wow do they mess him up :'(

always one dimensional in non shippy fics, or too plain or easily replaceable by other, more entertaining people in the significant other's life in most of his ships like man. i have read fics out there that made me genuinely FEEL and root for him and love his character so much it restored all hope for me!!! but i can only name one on top of my head and the others? it's been so long i don't even remember their names i just legit feel terrible cause i love him still and i can't find many headcanons that fit my interpretation of him yknow?

not to say people who write him very happy, mislead or sad are ruining him like that's silly- if i see something i don't like i just. move on bro i wouldn't force people to feel or think the same way i do about him cause anyone can have whatever headcanons they want!!! just talking about what i personally look for in him and why i can't exactly find it since most of the stuff out there just isn't my cup of tea :')

Haha, oh the troubles of a filthy multishipper! XD In any given fandom I probably have an opinion on every possible ship. I'm pretty sure this is impossible to parse and trying to list everything is literally overwhelming me. XD Alas I don't know who made the template, but thank you, this was fun!

I feel like it's worth saying that I do look at content in the "nah" and "NOTP" categories if there's something even a little interesting to me in it. In many cases I used to be more fond of some ships and either saw/read something so upsetting I can't enjoy the ship anymore (SkwisTok, Nickles) or met too many assholes who soured the ship by association (PickleGail, NateGail, MagCharles). But even with those ships you can get my attention by writing them in a certain way (still love me some twisted sociopath Charles lording it over Magnus :D). I'm thinking of making Shiny the jelous type. Her intended character in her cartoons was envious of the protagonists' girlfriend (being doted on and spoiled by the protagonist, I mean. Her character didn't love him. Just his money), so jelousy might be a trait that was literally made in Shiny.

If so, I doubt she'd even realize it. Not until she's actually in love with someone, but they aren't with her, does it really start to show how jealous she can get of potential suitors. She'd probably need a third party to notice her behavior and point it out for her to see it.

I do gotta say…

… I love what I can only refer to as the ‘Hitter community,’ or at least what we see of them in Leverage.

Quinn and Eliot’s first meeting is undeniably hostile, and sure, maybe a couple years later, but when Eliot pulls Quinn for the Dam job, neither appears to hold any ill will towards the other (especially notable given that was the incident that made Eliot have a grudge against Sterling). Presumably he goes to Quinn bc they met on opposite sides and he’s a distant enough contact that Dubeniech wouldn’t know of him, but I do think it’s a nice look into the way their ‘world’ works.

Especially when you follow it up w/ Mikel and Eliot’s behaviour towards each other. Despite being on opposite sides on their first meeting, too, they seem to be semi enjoying planning out the fight, and both harbour a strong respect for each other. Once things are over, hell, even before things are officially over, they get side tracked from fighting, and are playfully comparing scars and teasing each other in the bar afterwards.

Then there’s the ep w/ the organ, where Eliot runs into those two other retrieval guys and is quite casual w/ them, even that guy who owed him, even though they immediately come to blows.

It just feels like it gives a realistic, very nice insight into the way their 'community’ works. They’ll duke it out to hell and back bc it’s part of the job, but it’s no hard feelings at the end of the day bc someone has to do it. Like I’m absolutely sure there’s bad eggs, the last two examples here seem on the smarmy side, and Eliot does make a reference to Mikel killing someone, and Quinn’s also pretty fine doing that, but there’s a sort of. Honour code about the interactions that I really like.

And to give credit where it’s due, I know Parker gets ruffled as a matter of pride, but the conversation in the air vent and the lock picking contest in the bar indicate that the thieving community operates on a similar vibe. The might be more likely to get competitive, but there’s nothing personal beyond that.

#Leverage #and then there's Chaos #I respect that Will Wheaton is having the time of his life and I wish him well Xd #Wheaton just being like 'how much of a shit can I make this character??'#you know he's doing it intentionally #now to be fair I'm sure there are hackers who operate on a similar code of honour #Chaos just happens to not be one of them #but to the point I do love that and it fits so well w/ the personalities we do wee #*see #the other larger time hitters seem to have a respect for combat equal to Eliots which honestly is a side effect of getting good at imo #kinda like actors in a way #have to wholesale makeout w/ each other onset and then come over to celebrate the baby's birthday #perhaps not quite that familiar but there's definitely a healthy respect and an honour code #like I said I'm sure there are bad apples like Chaos in any of the respective 'communities' but I like the way they portray the fighters #it's nice to see characters who technically deal in violence on a regular basis not be completely defined by it #Literal Crime Family
