Actually, Katsuki MIGHT think of Izuku for real when he gets going again, I think that being taunted about liking All Might for winning, along with being taunted about how close he is to Izuku triggered some realization(see @pikahlua's theory on the realization for more context) of how he can come back from this....Using All Might's strategy from his final battle with AFO; faking ShigAFO out with his broken arm, and actually using his left.
But like, not only this All Might reference, let's also remember back to his first fight with Deku in school. That famous right hook that Deku saw coming and had prepared for. The first time Izuku ever physically bested him.
I think he might play into that habit, only to fake ShigAFO out(it's not known if AFO has any knowledge of Katsuki's Right Hook?? But anyway, he'll likely be incredulous because of a broken Katsuki hurtling towards him with a broken arm, only to get a full blast because Katsuki is counting on being underestimated.)
And in this moment, what might he think of?? YEP, IZUKU. and that first battle.
Emulating AM and truly living up to his namesake? Check.
Coming full circle from that glaring weakness in his fighting strategy and tying a nice bow on his growth?? Check.
Once again using his long experience with Izuku to guide him and even motivate him into action? CHECK.
Maybe even getting a decent hit on Shigaraki/AFO? LETS HOPE.
Anyway, long story short, that is what I'm reading by the context of the panel of him having a realization,
Tumblr media
As well as the very end when he is muttering (very Izuku like) and his sweat droplets are beginning to spark.
He's not done yet, folks. 👀

Interviewer: So... Your fans have started speculating that you might have romantic feelings for your hero partner, Deku. What do you say about that?
Dynamight: Tch! That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard! Why do they think that?
Interviewer: They say you only post pictures of Deku on you Instagram. And only talk about him on Twitter.
Dynamight: So?
Interviewer: Well... if you're not attracted to Deku, then what's your type?
Dynamight: Pro heroes with freckles.
Interviewer: Alright. Now, can you tell us–
Dynamight: But if they don't have green hair and green eyes, I'm not interested. And they have to be nerds as well and be fucking great at what they do and keep up with my morning exercise routine and blush when I call them Izuku and be All Might fanboys and look good in my hoodies even though they're too big for them.

Reader has all mights muscle form as a quirk. (Gender neutral pls)
Izuku begins to subtly pick up that the reader is overusing there quirk just based on how skinny the listener's "real form" is becoming and how tired they are.
How would izuku remedy the situation and get the listener to rest and stop their self-destructive behavior.
You Can Rest Now.

The warmth of your bed calls to you , a needy call that refuses to be heard as you enter the dormitory. The days are getting harder and longer as you continue increasing the daily training.
However, what else could you do? The villains aren't going to wait for you to get stronger, no if you show any form of weakness in a battle with a villain you are done for. That's why for the last month you've been pushing through extra training sessions with Aizawa before & after school.
The fatigue starts to heighten each step towards your room, just as you are about to get to the elevator there's a heavy grip on your shoulder that stops you from taking another step.
"Izuku?" Why didn't I notice him walk up to me? My senses are usually able to help me determine when someone approaches me before they are able to touch me.
"y/n , aren't you going to eat dinner with the rest of us? "
That's when you vaguely overhear the sounds of your classmates laughing down the hall and the delicious smell of Katsudon. How did I miss that when I walked into the dorms? I must have really overworked myself today.
"Not tonight, I really just want to go to bed." I saw with the brightest smile I can manage.
Izuku's eyes darken a bit as he sets a hard stare on me. His hand on my shoulder tightens slightly as I try to turn once again. I catch his stare evenly for a moment , his deep frown setting in where his smile usually rests when speaking to me.
"That's the fourth time this week and at least the tenth time this month. Are you even eating throughout the day?" He asks with sad eyes as his hand lingers down to catch my wrist in his.
"Of course I am. This is nothing to worry about." Laughing off his concern with a lighthearted wave. "I didn't know being a fanboy included writing down your classmates eating habits."
His face turns bright red as his hand lets go of my wrist. Wide green eyes stare into mine.
"I didn't , I wouldn't! I'm just- I'm just worried about you y/n. Please make sure you are taking care of yourself. I know you are training more than normal lately." He nervously explains while awkwardly looking down at the floor between us.
"I will , I promises."
Turning towards the elevator once more you make the trek towards the comfy shelter of your room. The heat from Izuku's grip on your wrist slowly fading as a chill takes over , making you want to reach out for the heat that radiates off of him.

"Deku where did you run off to?" Ochako calls from her seat beside Tsu and Iida.
"I saw y/n walk in and wanted to ask if they would join us for dinner tonight." Izuku states with a warm smile before retaking his seat beside Iida.
Ochako's eyebrows pull upwards into a deep thinking expression settles onto her face.
"Now that you mention it, when is the last time y/n had dinner with everyone?"
"Oh no need to worry, y/n assured me that they are fine and are eating regular meals. You know how busy everyone can get with the extra trainings and work studies we don't get as much time as a class as we used to." He hurriedly states to not alarm anyone else to your overtired state.
"Well that is true! Ugh! I miss hanging out as a class with everyone, we should plan something soon in the dorm. " She says happily before taking another bite of her meal.
"That's a great Idea!" Iida says with a wide smile on his face as he begins to loudly plan the details.
Izuku stares off silently while eating, blurring out the conversations around him as he starts to think.
Was it really nothing?
Were you really okay?
Your quirk is similar to All Might's, the muscle form ability and how when the quirk isn't actively being used you transform into a deflated 'normal' version of yourself. However, the worry keeps gnawing at the back of his mind.
Why are your regular clothes suddenly much baggier than a couple of weeks ago ?
Just a few moments ago he had noticed how your school uniform was hanging off your body far more than usual. The way your wrist felt more bony and scrawny than normal. Now that he was thinking about it there was a few things that were bothering him about your appearance just now.
your always vibrant (h/c) was duller and held less volume, the ever-growing dark bags under your eyes were from multiple days of lack of sleep not just a few here and there. The fact that it seemed like you couldn't even hear him when he approached you until he grabbed your shoulder.
Is y/n overusing their quirk ? they must be.
He drops his chopsticks in shock as the pieces all come together of the subtle hints he has picked up over the last few months.
...The early mornings where he saw you already up before everyone else training meant you didn't sleep...
...The baggy school uniform , meant you weren't eating due to the fatigue...
Everyone's eyes were on him , but all he could think about was you and how he was going to get you to keep your promise.
✯¸.•´*¨`*•✿✿•*`¨*`•.¸✯✯¸.•´*¨`*•✿✿•*`¨*`•.¸✯✯¸.•´*¨`*•✿✿•*`¨*`•.¸✯✯¸.•´*
As much as you wanted to sleep the fatigue and the body pain away for the night, your hyperactive brain wouldn't let you. Why did you expect anything else at this point?
You tossed and turned trying to will your brain to slip into the darkness of your room and into a peaceful sleep, however each turn moment your mind was racked with thoughts.
I should be training.
I'm wasting time I don't have.
If I could just get out of bed right now and go train a bit more then maybe I'll sleep easier... maybe I'll finally feel like I deserve to rest.
The digital clock lit up the dark room with 4:20 AM etched into the screen. It's a Saturday and no-one would be up for at least a few more hours. There was no use in trying to sleep at this point you determined, might as well let the plaguing thoughts take hold.
You move to get out of the warm bed , your muscles screaming at you with each movement. It's getting harder each day to continue this little routine.
'I will, I promise.' Why did I even promise that? it's not like I'm able to keep it.
No, not when my mind won't allow me to rest.
.•° ✿ °•.
The brisk morning breeze shook your figure as you began to use your quirk. The trees blew in the wind around you, and you focused every screaming muscle to kneel to your will.
A figure watched you from the tree line close to the dormitory, not that you could have noticed in drained out state. Your eyes closed in pain as you pushed yourself beyond your quirk limits once again.
"STOP!" A voice yelled as a strong grip yanked you into a firm and warm chest.
"Wha-"
"Why are you overusing your quirk to this extent Y/N!" Izuku interrupted you.
You move your head slightly up towards the voice, to look up at him from the position of being face first in his chest and his arms wrapped around you in a fierce grip. His face was leaning down close to yours , dark green hair covering his eyes to keep you from seeing the green orbs underneath.
"Don't you see what you're doing to yourself?!" He said angrily once you hadn't answered.
"You are wasting away!" He says with a waver in his voice as tears stream down his cheeks , falling on to you.
His vice grip hug he had placed you in had gotten tighter, as you start to feel the guilt rack your body at his words. He was worried about you.
"I'm - I'm sorry." you say as you waver , not fully comprehending everything going on.
"Why?! Why are you doing this to yourself?!"
Izuku drops his hold on you only to lift one of your hands In his , as he feels the scrawny bones sticking out from your wrists. Rubbing his thumb over in circling comfort motions.
"I can't - I can't " you start , but find it hard to breathe through your tears.
"You can't what?" Izuku interrupts with a softer voice looking into your eyes now , tears streaming down both your cheeks as he places his warm palms on your face to brush them away.
"I can't rest. Every time I try to force myself to sleep more than a few hours , every time I try to relax I think about how I should be doing more. How I need to get stronger and It keeps me from sleeping , keeps me from eating without having this anxious feeling that I'm losing time."
Izuku breathes in and hums in thought at your words. Brushing off the tears that continue to fall with his thumbs. The unease in your heart has finally been spilled out in the open for someone other than yourself to see.
"Okay then let me help you rest." He states with a small smile before leading you back towards the dormitory.

You were now in his All Might decorated room , laying on his warm bed. Izuku had taken a seat on the floor still holding your hand as he placed his head on the mattress.
The air diffuser buzzed slightly throughout the dark room, the lavender scent reaching your nose in a comforting way to lure you to sleep. Izuku had told you on the way to his dorm, all the tips and tricks that he would try to help you rest your mind and the idea he had about making a journal full of his ideas if this ever happened in the future as well.
You couldn't help the small smile that graced your lips as you closed your eyes, finally starting to feel at peace, especially since a heavy weighted blanket now stopped you from tossing and turning on the bed.
"It's okay y/n." you heard Izuku say sleepily before stroking his fingers through your hair.
You were barely holding onto consciousness , your mind no longer hindering you from resting but you felt as if you needed just one little push before you could finally will yourself to sleep.
"You can rest now."
Sleep overtook you , a relaxed and peaceful expression taking over your facial features as your hand was still tightly held in Izuku's grip. The clam and tranquil morning light never breaking through the blackout curtains as you continued to snooze with Izuku protecting your slumber throughout the day.

Bonus Scene:
"Hey Izuku , Why were you outside at four in the morning?" You question as you scoff down the leftover Katsudon he had brought you once you woke up from your long slumber.
"Oh yeah , about that haha-" He starts off nervously as he plays with his chopsticks. "Well you see, last night I was able to put together how you must have been over using your quirk, as since I've seen you already training before I start my training in the mornings I figured I would confront you about it."
A red blush forms on his cheeks as he tries to not meet your eyes. You can't stop the smile that forms on your lips as you reach for one of his hands.
"You want to know what else would help me relax the next time I need to rest?" you say with a sly smile.
"What?" The blush grows darker as he looks between the coy look in your eyes and the hand resting in his.
"Cuddles."
You pull him closer to you while being mindful to make sure the food is safe and out of reach.

A/N: This was way longer than I had originally intended, but since this has been sitting in my inbox for awhile hopefully that makes up for the wait.
My requests box is now open again.

The thing that bugs me the most is how izuku never got recognised for his efforts and sacrifices. These should've been revealed when izuku was being denied entry into UA by the civilians. It was the best time to reveal. He tried to save bakuhoe's ass even when he was powerless while AM and other hero's gave up and that he cleaned the entire beach when none of the so called heroes bothered to do. All might along with Mt lady could've told the whole world about this. Heck even some of the civilians living near the beach could've told the other civilians about his deeds. Endeavour, big 3 and Ryukyu could've talked about izuku's heroic deeds with stain and overhaul incident. Rock-lock and pussy cats could've talked about the muscular fight and fight with shigaraki during the war. Even we could've had some of the civilians who were saved by izuku be there in UA to talk about him saving them as well as a hero course student from muscular. These all could've been done to instill hope for the civilians who were banning izuku to rest in UA as well give recognition to izuku. This would've been izuku's true hero rising.
Izuku isn't just someone obsessed with being a hero just because it's cool. He has the same reason as Uraraka for wanting to be a hero when Uraraka talks about herself in chapter 220.(she ain't the only one who has this noble reason even if this came out of nowhere). Izuku trying to defend someone at the age of 4 or 5 from Bakuhoe and his lackeys is proof & that's more than just being an all Might fanboy or being obsessed with heroes overall. Even when he was trying to save Bakuhoe it was because he looked bakuhoe's eyes and saw someone crying for help. It wasn't because it was Bakuhoe. Izuku would've done the same if it was anyone else.
I would've preferred this over Uraraka's so-called 'great speech'. Yeah sure on the surface of it she was pleading to let izuku in but Hori's BS narrative makes it as if she's the only reason civilians are at peace with heroes, when it was Izuku's sacrifices, his vigilante stint were the entire reason for it. Don't believe me? check how Iida comments about Uraraka in the following chapters when he talks to izuku during their training. If he never left UA, Uraraka's words would've been empty. Those words only had any effect because of izuku. It pisses me that Uraraka and even 1A gets praised during the end of the vigilante arc and for her speech when they didn't even do 5% of what izuku did during that arc. The entire arc should've been izuku's rising and becoming the ultimate hero surpassing all might which nezu envisions. It should've been him standing tall and not Uraraka or anyone else on those 2 pages in that chapter 327 or 326 (don't remember which of these 2).
I also saw the later chapters about the so called recognition he got during his second fight with Shigi and imo it was pathetic. It felt empty.
Again I am sorry if it's too biased but I feel more than Uraraka or any other character, izuku deserved 'THE' spotlight considering how he has been treated like shit since chapter 1 and considering how much he has done in the series including the vigilante arc when compared to other characters.
Also I'm sorry if I'm being too harsh on Uraraka. I do like her but the way Hori treats his MC throughout the series and then he freakin gives Uraraka and 1A the recognition when izuku did all the work truly pissed me off.
I definitely agree that Izuku deserves more credit at least for everything he did during Dark Deku. He was on the runs for weeks; almost completely alone/isolated, exhausted, and mentally in shambles. And he was still proactive in not only protecting everyone, but also making people feel safe and comfortable. Like what he did for that woman with the mutant quirk. At the time, he was really the only one somewhat salvaging the relationship between civilians and heroes. And he doesn't get any recognition for it, just berated by Bakugou and 1A. It's unfair.
And I'm not gonna lie, Izuku's change from "this is how I become the #1 hero" to "this is how we become the #1 heroes" annoyed the hell out of me.
See, this is Horikoshi once again leans on "subverting expectations." Izuku can't have anything. I didn't invest in watching/reading this series to see everyone else infringe on what should be Izuku's story. I like (most of) 1A, but they were almost entirely irrelevant to the story before this. Other than Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Tsu, Aoyama, and Yaoyorozu, I don't care about any of them past finding them endearing. They were never important to the original overall theme or Izuku's story (except Bakugou, but only as an antagonistic force).
And no, there's nothing inherently wrong with the hero students working towards a better future together. But a) you can't work towards a better future if you don't acknowledge what's wrong with the present (if you asked 1A, no one would even have an idea other than Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, and Aoyama) and b) this had 0 build up. There was nothing to ever indicate that this ever changed into 1A's goal.
I love Uraraka too- I even liked her speech- but Horikoshi made a bigger deal about that than all the work Izuku was doing for weeks. You're absolutely right to call that out

I can’t take this out of my mind, this is the third time I am reading this and I cannot just keep it to myself, I need to share it!!
Deku tells Kirishima he is the key to save Bakugo successfully after he remembered Ochaco say that Bakugo wouldn’t like for someone to save him. Deku thought that if he tried to safe Bakugo, he was going to reject him. What is more funny to me about all this, it’s that Deku knows Kirishima became somewhat friends with Bakugo, he has been observant of people around Bakugo. Makes me think he is always looking at him no matter what he does, and thus he thinks that he would be a better fit to save Bakugo. If Ochaco hadn’t say anything, Deku would’ve safe Bakugo himself.
I feel like Deku when he said this to himself, was sad and at the same time desperate to safe him because he is trying other options in his plan. He really thinks and feels Bakugo wouldn’t want him to be the one saving him as he told him to stay back. He remembers it at the same time he remembers uraraka saying Bakugo wouldn’t want anyone to safe him. But what he doesn’t know is that Bakugo said that to safe Deku from more harm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If that were the case, wouldn’t Bakugo yelled at him instead of being soft and full of worry? After seeing how Deku was pummeled and hurt, he didn’t want Deku to risk his life just to safe him. And when he went to safe him, Bakugo yelled at him and told him the same thing. It’s not because he didn’t want to be safe, he didn’t want Deku to get more injured and lose his life in the process. He cares about Deku even when no one else realizes it not even Deku himself.
Tumblr media
Isn’t curious that Midoriya remembers every moment this two have been together? Because we are seeing Midoriya’s memories and narration since the beginning of the story. I feel that Midoriya feels somewhat jealous and envious that Kirishima could become Bakugo’s friend when Deku has been there since they were kids. I don’t know if someone already talked about this before but I wanted to address how Midoriya in this scene was sad that he wasn’t going to be the one to safe his childhood friend, so he requested the help of kirishima for the plan to go smoothly. In this panel, Midoriya is saying that no one else, not even him, can be able to talk to Bakugo without opposing them and make the plan go to shit.
Even when he says “then…it’s up to you kirishima”, why did he make a pause? Did he hesitated for a second to complete the sentence? I don’t know, for me it feels like Deku wanted to be the one to safe Bakugo, to be the one to grab his hand and called out his name. He even became sad when he thought that he shouldn’t be the one while looking at his hand. I just know that, Bakugo either way, would’ve grab anyone’s hand to be saved and give All Might the floor but also I know that if Deku was the one to called his name and grab his hand, Bakugo would’ve grab it either way, I mean, at the end Deku got an earful from Bakugo anyways hahahaha.
But let’s put this here now that I am talking about this, I have never seen Midoriya in this state. Never in my life I would’ve thought that this cutie pie, shy guy, fanboy of All Might, Bakugo’s admirer, and selfless could say that it was a total loss! Ma guy, you saved a little kid from another dude, and did a lot of things, how can you say that it was a total loss? Plus he screaming on the floor, devastated that Bakugo was kidnapped by villains is something that got my curiosity and liked very much. This make me also think about all those times where Deku would lose it when he sees Bakugo being harmed by others.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Midoriya is obsessed, possessive, and selfish when it comes to his childhood friend.

Dad December - Day Seven: "Blizzard."
*A rare dadmight one shot from me :D!!
Summary: A snowball fight turns sour when All Might gives Izuku a concussion.
word count: 1,286
@daddecember
--
It’s a few days into Christmas break.  A blizzard hit last night, leaving the ground covered in a thick layer of snow, blanketing everything in sight. Almost everyone in class 1-A has gone home. Everyone except Izuku, who’s on lockdown because of All for One and Shigaraki.
Thankfully, he’s allowed to go home from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day, provided All Might comes with him. But that’s a thin comfort when he’s forced to endure the brunt of the break alone.
At least he has All Might, Eri, and Mr. Aizawa.
His mentor and him stand across from each other. They eye one another. Izuku’s fingers twitch. He only has one shot at this. If he messes up….
Izuku pulls his arm back, and using a touch of One for All’s power, slings the snowball at All Might.
“Oh, it’s on!” His mentor shouts, dodging to the side.
Eri and Mr. Aizawa are taking a nap, so All Might’s in charge of watching him. Though, Izuku hates the term. It feels like he’s a little kid again, with none of the benefits of actually being a child. He knows the adults ordered the extra protection to keep him safe, but…..
Izuku lunges to the ground, rolling out of the way. He gets a faceful of snow for his efforts, but none of All Might’s hits land.
He shakes the snow off his face. That was too close. He can’t afford to lose focus. His mentor is the best of the best. All Might didn’t stay number one for decades by being mediocre.
Heavy footfalls approach him from behind. Frantically, Izuku grabs fistfuls of snow. The cold has started to seep into his gloves-the gloves his mother lovingly knitted and gifted him last Christmas-numbing his fingertips.
The footsteps stop. Before Izuku can say or do anything, a tightly packed snowball is lugged at his head. It feels heavier than a balled-up pile of snow, and Izuku hears a thud after it lands. Pain radiates from the back of his skull all the way down to his spinal cord.
Izuku falls face first into the snow. His face hurts from the cold, but his head hurts more.
All Might stands above him, laughing goodnaturedly. A large hand wipes the excess snow off Izuku’s jacket. “My boy?” He asks, voice as reassuring as always. Even in immense amounts of pain, Izuku can’t help his inner fanboy from freaking out. He still can’t get over that All Might- the All Might-calls him-plain old, useless, Deku-“my boy.”
“M’ h’d hur’s,” Izuku says, words muffled and slurred.
In a blink of an eye, Izuku is lifted out of the snow. All Might puts him on his own two feet, steadying him with his hands on Izuku’s shoulders.
The world is moving too fast for Izuku to comprehend the worried, almost frantic questions that his mentor is throwing at him. He blinks slowly, trying to think through the pain.
(C’mon, Izuku, you’ve been through worse. No way a small hit to the back of the head-with snow of all things-is going to be the thing that takes you down.)
Izuku forces himself to smile.
“Young Midoriya, you don’t look well. I should take you to the infirmary.”
Nausea wells up in Izuku. He feels off balanced, untethered. But his need to reassure those around him superseeds his need to pass out. He smiles again, giving All Might a thumbs-up for good measure.
“‘m fine, Allll Mighttt. Jus’ need to si-” Izuku falls straight into All Might’s arms.
-x-x-x-
When he comes to, staring at the tiled ceiling of the infirmary (a place he’s come to see as a third home of sorts), All Might is sitting next to his bedside. Seeing that Izuku’s awake, All Might gives him a smile. But the worried, slightly panicked look in his eyes gives him away.
“How are you feeling?”
“Good.” He rubs the back of his head. “A little sore. What happened?”
All Might shifts in his seat.
Recovery Girl answers for him. “Mister Plus Ultra over here went a little too beyond and gave you a concussion.” Even though her words aren’t directed at Izuku, he still cringes back. “Having a snowball fight,” she sighs, exasperated. “Of all things to get injured doing.”
Izuku and All Might both bow their heads, ashamed (and a little afraid of the little old lady scolding them).
“Well…what’s done is done. And I’m just glad it’s not more broken bones.” She turns her full attention to Izuku. “Now, you. Take some Tylenol and rest up. All Might or Aizawa will wake you up every three hours to make sure you’re still breathing. My quirk healed most of the injury, but there might still be some tenderness.”
Izuku laughs nervously. “I’m not dying, right?” He looks at his mentor.
“Of course not. Just routine, and it’s the least that one over there can do.” She points her cane at All Might. “One last thing before I release you.”
“Yeah?”
“Please, be careful. The last thing I want is for you to miss going home, because you two decided that sticking a fork in an outlet was a good idea.”
“Okay, sorry.”
“Sorry,” All Might echoes. “I’ll be more careful next time.”
“No.” Recovery Girl gives them a stern look. She points her cane at Izuku and then at All Might. “No more snowball fights until after Christmas. I’m going to be off campus for the next week. So, I need you two to be on your best behavior.”
They nod.
-x-x-x-
When Izuku is finally excused, All Might gives him a piggyback ride to the dorms. He can tell the man feels really bad about giving him a concussion and tries his best to make All Might feel better about the whole thing.
“It didn’t really hurt that bad,” Izuku says, holding tightly to his mentor. “I’m pretty sure Kacchan’s hit me worse.”
All Might pauses. “What?”
“Ah…I mean, I’m just saying I’ve been hit in the head harder than that. Kind of funny that all it took to get a concussion was some snow. Right?” He laughs, but All Might doesn’t laugh along.
He continues to the dorms, oddly quiet.
“All Might? Are you okay?” He asks once they reach the dorms. His mentor gently shrugs Izuku off his back.
“Yeah, sorry. It’s been a long day.”
Izuku studies him. He might not be the most intelligent, strong, or cunning. But he does know when someone’s hurting. “You know, I was really dreading this break. With everyone being gone and the threat of war hanging over our heads, but you found a way to make it fun. I…didn’t feel as homesick as I expected. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is, thank you.” He smiles at the ground.
Strong arms bring him into a hug. All Might squeezes him tight. A dopey smile on his face. He pulls away but places his hands on Izuku’s shoulders. “I know how lonely the holidays can get. Back then, we didn’t have dorms. But I can recall overhearing my classmates’ plans for Christmas, and knowing that no matter how hard I work, nothing would bring my family back.”
“Where did you go?”
“I lived with Nana for a majority of my time at U.A. But the point I’m getting at is that I understand how lonely you must feel right now. This arrangement really isn’t fair to you.”
“I’m just thankful we can go home for Christmas Eve.” All Might’s eyes widen, and for a second Izuku thinks he overstepped. But then All Might smiles at him, bringing him in for another tight squeeze.
“Me too, kid. Me too.”

EXCERPT
“No, I-I wanted you to keep.. it.” The way Deku’s voice seemed to falter, as if he were questioning his resolve, almost drove Katsuki to break his neck and stare the nerd down himself. Surely, most certainly, there was no way he was giving Sonic the Hedgehog a relic from his childhood. Deku’s very own security blanket in the form of an All Might action figure; if one hand was brushing away tears, the other was surely wrapped around that thing. That figurine was in as many pictures as Katsuki in the Midoriya household. Probably more. There was simply no fucking way he’d part with it. Least of all to give it to someone who would dare call it a toy. “You all, you mean a lot to me. I never could have imagined friends like you… even a year ago. I really appreciate you all so much. I just… wanted to make sure you know that.”
“Oh my goodness, Deku! Thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you,” Uraraka squealed energetically. “It’s just like the one I got for Christmas, you didn’t have to do that!”
Katsuki could hear the insufferable shrill of Uraraka’s excitement long before he rounded the corner into the 1A classroom. He honestly didn’t mind her, she was one of very few people in class he found palatable at all. But still, that level of enthusiasm first thing in the morning coupled with the likes of Deku would be grating to anyone. He took extra care to mosey nonchalantly to his desk, hands shoved into his pockets irreverently.
Uraraka stood over Deku’s desk, her back blocking whatever he’d given her from view as Katsuki dropped into his seat. He tried to keep his eyes forward but every ecstatic coo from Uraraka and whatever Deku seemed to be muttering were putting him on edge. “Pink Cheeks.. Round Face.. no, Mochi-? I feel like I used that the other day…” he thought, shaking his head. “Ooh! Haven’t used ‘Kirby’ in a while,” he decided.
“Oi! Kirby! Unless this screeching is some new emergency broadcast system, how about you shutit?” Katsuki snarled, his teeth bared threateningly.
Uraraka was completely unfazed as she whirled around to face her classmate despite his notoriously explosive temper. “Oh, Bakugo! Check it out! I’ve got another All Might plushie!” she giggled, bringing the doll to her chest. “It’s so cool, I just don’t know what to do with him! I guess he can’t exactly twin with the one in my hero costume so I’ll keep this one in my room.”
Katsuki’s face deadpanned. “They aren’t twins, that one is Bronze Age All Might. It’s a totally different costume. Why would he give you that?” Mentally, he berated himself for revealing that he’d been eavesdropping which belied his strict air of indifference. But what the hell was Round Cheeks going to do with a rare artifact like that? Relatively rare. He had one too, after all. Deku and he had gotten them together years ago. The value of them surely exceeded one million yen, especially with the obsessive level of care Deku had when it came to his All Might memorabilia. Given the market, he probably wouldn’t go and buy another one either.
“Oh, uh, I figured Uraraka-san could use some cheering up. We just had a really tough mission a-and-” Deku proffered sheepishly, avoiding the discerning gaze of his childhood friend.
Katsuki’s eyes narrowed coldly, “I don’t give a shit about your work study.”
“Everyone! In your seats, class is about to begin!” Iida advised, inadvertently mediating the situation that seemed to be bubbling up between the 17th and 18th seats.
A deep sigh emanated from the yellow sleeping bag that lay perennially at the front of the class. “Thank you, Class Prez. It appears you’re the only one still standing though,” Aizawa observed as he emerged from his cocoon like a caterpillar who’d decided to say “fuck it” to the whole evolutionary process.
The heat from the blush that crept across Iida’s face could be felt in the back row of the classroom as he wordlessly took his seat.
“It would be illogical to ignore the fact that members of our class have experienced something beyond what mere hero students are meant to brave.” Aizawa was noticeably more bereft in his guidance for the day’s lesson. His words, while vague, were heavy enough to bow the heads of several students. Katsuki couldn’t help but notice that Uraraka, who mere moments ago had sunshine shooting out of her ass, was among those suddenly sullen. Before he could contemplate further, Aizawa continued somberly. “But it is a reality of becoming a Pro Hero. There may come a time, a mission, where everything boils down to life or death. If I’ve done my job correctly, you’ll be able to think rationally about how best to avoid that possibility.”
Katsuki cursed himself for jumping down Deku’s throat knowing all too well what had happened during the Shie Hassaikai sting operation. Kirishima had given him an earful, after all, and Deku was at the very center of it, per usual. There was a large part of him that sort of wished he knew what to say in situations like that. At least when it came to those he liked or respected. He didn’t really have the same flourish for sympathy that the nerd had so it’s not like that interaction could have gone differently. He didn’t want to admit that there was a small part of him that was also a bit jealous. Katsuki had, more or less, survived the same peaks and valleys Deku had. Worse if you count the whole being-kidnapped-by-The-League-of-Losers but that wasn’t quite the same. For all intents and purposes, he wasn’t exactly victorious in that great escape. From certain perspectives, it might have even looked like he needed assistance or saving. And there Deku was, ever the cunning strategist to extend a helping hand. The thought made Katsuki’s palms hot with rage. So, while there wasnt a soul alive he’d admit this to and, even though he felt a bit like a piece of shit for thinking it… he wished he’d have been involved in the sting operation instead of having his hair brushed obsessively by Denim Head. Even with the casualties incurred, it felt like Deku had another slingshot to propel further ahead of him and practical experience as a hero while he was wasting away in tedium with all his talent.
This would just become another thorny point of contention between them. He made a mental note to throw a stern nod Deku’s way during hero training later that afternoon to broker some sense of acknowledgement of his suffering.
The morning lessons passed unremarkably though it seemed the teachers all had comparable feelings to convey about the mortality of hero work and the importance of preparedness. It felt like a lesson Katsuki didn’t quite have access to which wore on his nerves as the day went on. He’d begun to grind his teeth by the time All Might was making his way clumsily through similar sentiments.
“Surprised today’s lesson came with sound effects. Looks like trainings going to be rough…” Kaminari muttered, eyeing the sparks that had begun to crackle and pop around Katsuki’s hands.
“Better hope you don’t get paired with him, Denks. He’ll make you pay for that,” Sero smiled wryly.
“Not it!” Kaminari fretted, inching away from the ticking time bomb.
“-no longer zygotes, I see fledgling heroes, here,” All Might concluded his speech, the gravitas of his words undermined by the low growl that seemed to be vibrating from one of his pupils. “Ah, with that, pair up, young heroes!”
“Shitty Hair, with me!” Katsuki called, pushing past Deku on his way to the training grounds. “Tch! Move it, Half and Half!”
“Midoriya.”
Katsuki’s jaw clenched at the name. The casual way it fit in Todoroki’s mouth always made Katsuki seethe. Especially when Icy Hot was a massively arrogant prick when he started at UA. Especially to Class 1A, especially to Deku. Somehow, despite defeating Deku, the nerd still managed to break something within him. Something that Katsuki couldn’t coax out of him less than an hour later in the fight that would decide the winner of the sports festival. The decisive ferocity Todoroki had had in his fight against Deku didn’t even flicker when he faced Katsuki. It drove Katsuki up a wall, worse so when he realized that the fire he’d had in his belly morphed, somehow, into affection. The kind that could wrap its arms around his surname without a second thought.
“Todoroki! Did you want to partner up?” Izuku chirped expectantly.
“I suppose. But I thought I should talk to you about the All Might shirt you’d given me. I don’t think that I can accept the gesture.”
“HAH!?” Katsuki briefly broke character to round on the unfurling conversation though he was fortunately far enough away to not draw the attention of either participant. He ignored the shocked look on Kirishima’s tensed face as his two biggest rivals continued.
“I appreciate the thought but also wonder if it will be too small for me.”
“Oh, Todoroki! The shirt isn’t to wear, it’s just kind of… to keep.”
“I’m afraid I don’t understand the purpose of a shirt you do not wear.”
One of Katsuki’s eyes became dangerously close to bugging out of his head.
“I-It’s a collectible? The value of the shirt comes from not wearing it. It’s official All Might merch that had a small run of shirts with a print error a few years ago and-and I want you to have it.” Deku smiled feebly.
Katsuki remembered the shirt well. They’d both fundraised (well, asked their moms for the money) to buy the shirts when they initially came out marking the dawn of a new All Might costume. This, of course, was before news of the elusive misprint circulated. They valiantly walked to the store unattended, two freshly minted kindergarteners taking on the world. They just barely survived the frenzy of people swarming the Pro Hero merch shop. They gleefully took their respective shirts to the front counter, carefully paying with exact change just like the hag had prepped them. Their smiles seemed to connect at the cheek and spread from ear to ear. It wasn’t until they got back to Katsuki’s that they realized one shirt had the proud “All Might” blazing across the top left pocket in English whereas the other inexplicably donned the phrase “All Fight”.
Katsuki remembered the way Deku’s face scrunched up right before big, fat tears welled in his eyes as he dragged his stubby fingers across the bold “F” that differentiated the shirt from his own. He was miserable and, for a moment, Katsuki was glad it wasn’t his shirt that was flawed. It wasn’t until days later that news of the misprinted shirts’ circulation hit the fan sites. He had to swallow his jealousy then. The shirt became a point of pride for Deku and hung, unworn, in a garment bag for years. Katsuki never had a reason to look up the value of the shirt beyond that first year but, surely, it outweighed that of the plush Deku had given Uraraka.
“I didn’t realize. Thank you, Midoriya. I will refrain from trying it on.”
The lack of excitement in Todoroki’s voice, the ignorance in acknowledging how grand of a gesture the gift was, all of it almost made Katsuki snap. Rather than launch a violently verbal outburst, he managed to barely suppress an explosion within his enclosed fist.
“Gah! You alright, bro?”
Katsuki was so consumed with the exchange taking place a stone’s throw away, he almost forgot he was still in Kirishima’s presence. He switched gears abruptly, shelving his curiosity and frustration and, instead, channeling his anger for a physical performance that rivaled the effort he put forth during the sports festival.
--
“Sheesh! You might be the only person who can handle Bakugo in hand to hand, man!” Sero clapped Kirishima on the back just as he released his hardening.
“His Howitzer definitely makes me wonder whether my quirk has a threshold, that’s for sure!” Kirishima laughed. “It’s like he knows I need to test my limits if I’m gonna go Pro! Bro is so manly for that. Now, more than ever, I know I gotta be prepared,” he smiled somberly, pensively studying his fist which still bristled with the remnants of his quirk.
The prattling of his friends didn’t even register as he wiped the sweat from his brow, and angrily made his way to the dorms. Nothing added up. The last thing an overzealous fanboy like Deku would do is part with merch so cavalierly. Even if some act of god were to sway his obsessive fanaticism, Katsuki would think he’d be the reasonable recipient of such keepsakes. For starters, he was there when Deku got most of them. Above all of that, even though he didn’t proudly fly his fanboy flag, Deku was intimately aware of All Might being his favorite hero, his inspiration to become a hero. Where the Uraraka thing could be chalked up to some weird comfort for their shared trauma, Todoroki rode the pine on that mission just like he did, so what gives?
“- I think it’s okay if you’re having a rough time but consider reaching out to the school counselor, ribbit.”
Suddenly aware of his proximity to the source of his ire, Katsuki slowed his gait but only slightly.
“Heh, you might be right, Asu-Tsuyu!” Deku whinced, a nervous hand resting on the back of his head. His shoulders seemed to tense as he looked away from his classmate.
“It just looks like you might not be sleeping, I guess I was just worried. But, you can tell me if I shouldn’t have said something.” Asui croaked, noticing Deku’s discomfort. She chanced a comforting hand but thought better of it just short of his shoulder, letting it hang limply between them. “I was thinking about going after classes too if you wanted to join..” she murmured.
“Yea, I just- Kacchan!”
“Too close,” Katsuki thought, rolling his eyes. “What, nerd?” he scoffed, though the question lacked its usual edge. He sidled up to the two without hastening his pace, his interest piqued by Asui’s gross display of concern.
“I was just thinking about you, actually! D-do you think we could talk later? Maybe after dinner rush?” While Deku’s inflection remained calm, the eyes he flashed Katsuki were pleading. It was a confusing dissonance given Katsuki’s assumption that Deku and Asui were pretty good friends. That and, while Deku was never subtle about his regard for Katsuki, he was also never so bold in requesting his attention or presence.
Katsuki squinted suspiciously at Deku, trying to decide on a response that wouldn’t give away his interest but would also make Deku sweat a bit. After all, this public appeal upset something deep within his gut, it was only right he return the favor. But even the glare that typically graced his face lost steam as he was able to study Deku up close for the first time in a while. His cheeks seemed to be a bit gaunt, not as plush and blushy as they usually were whenever he held his gaze. His eyes were sharply contrasted by puffy, dark circles that seemed to be in a competitive race to see which side would droop to his nose first. His typically unruly curls were.. well, they looked just the same but worse, somehow. “Frogger is right to be concerned…” he determined before responding to Deku distractedly, “yea. Whatever.”
Deku managed a feeble smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes before being called away by some extra.
In his absence, Katsuki’s eyes locked with Asui’s. She also looked slightly worse for wear but only in the sense that her eyes were maybe a bit red and puffy, likely from crying recently. Hell, maybe that’s just what she looked like, Katsuki wouldn’t know the difference. He also wasn’t exactly greatwith feelings. In fact, he couldn’t think of anyone worse than himself for anyone to cry to.
Asui seemed to know this, as well. “Be nice, Bakugo. I don’t think he’s doing well, at all. Don’t make it worse, ribbit.”
“Yea, yea, cry me a river..” he huffed, regretting his phrasing immediately.
--
Katsuki seemed to be in a daze as he prepared to hit the showers. The look on Deku’s face haunted him. He hadn’t looked in that worse of shape since middle school. He could pinpoint the day, in fact, as it was one that still turned his stomach. Katsuki’s arrogance, his general abrasiveness used to always be laser focused on Deku back then. He almost wished there was a froggy busybody to pull back the reins on him then, too. But his ego went roughly unchecked from the age of four until the UA entrance exams. He could recall only four instances that briefly shook his confidence throughout his adolescence.
One was after a fight with third graders when he was just barely out of kindergarten. He was obviouslyvictorious, but he may have cried a little bit which slightly tarnished the win.
The second time was a stupid spill into a river in front of his minions which he, like, barelyremembered if he was being honest….
The third and fourth times fell on the same day, the day he recalled Deku looking his worst.
He’d spent years by that point scratching away at Deku’s resolve to be a hero, decimating the confidence that dared to stand up to him, time and time again. That day, in all his bravado, with the supportive taunts from lackeys he no longer consorts with, he remembered tossing one of Deku’s carefully curated notebooks into the school pond. A critical hit. That would have been enough but his racing pulse, his blood that always ran a littletoo hot, got carried away and took it a step too far.
“Take a swan dive off the roof!” he’d sneered to the uproarious laughter of surrounding NPC’s. He didn’t remember the exact phrase he’d used but he remembered the sentiment. Moreover, while he could distance himself from the words, from the cruelty of them, he couldn’t as easily dismiss the broken look on Deku’s face. It immediately seared itself onto his mind’s eye and made him wish he could swallow the conversation and erase it from the collective memory of those who’d heard it. Even as a bunch of their peers proceeded to praise him, proceeded to glad hand him. He continued the afternoon in their company, anxiously ruminating on what he’d said and wondering if they were enough to push someone over the edge, push Deku over the edge. Surrounded by flunkies, he was isolated by his cowardice at not only saying such things but, also, not being man enough to apologize or brave enough to face Deku to make sure he didn’t take his taunts seriously.
The next hit to his confidence came when that quirkless nerd, raw from having been told to killhimself, still threw himself into harm’s way to save him. Between gasping breaths, Katsuki’s desperate eyes locked with Deku’s fearful ones, both glimmering with tears. Deku was scared but he was there wearing an unbridled grin with no clue what to do next. In that moment, Katsuki recognized Deku, er, Midoriya… to be a better man than he was. A better hero. Because he could overlook Katsuki’s malice, could ignore his own fear, could have nothing to fall back on, and still come to Katsuki’s rescue.
It unnerved Katsuki then. But, when he later became privy to the conversation Deku had had with All Might merely moments before? The fact that Deku could indomitably shake off the hopeless words of their idol while conveniently stranded on a roof…? He shuddered at the memory inadvertently. It stirred the bubbling guilt in Katsuki’s stomach, one he’d not been able to quell in the months since starting at UA. Moreover, the hits to his ego just kept coming while Deku continued to rise above people’s low expectations of him.
They both had come a long way since then. Their relationship had improved by leaps and bounds, typically against Katsuki’s own best efforts. Yet, here he was, reminded of that day just the same. He absently continued with his post training bath, decidedly ignoring those who buzzed around him. Occasionally, he chanced a glance at Deku who, while still visibly withdrawn, stayed in the company of Todoroki and Iida.
--
As Class 1A trickled into the grand mess hall for dinner, Katsuki was still notably distracted. Even as Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero and Mina could laugh and joke around him, he still felt as though he were on edge. He pushed the food on his plate around aimlessly, Deku’s request to talk after dinner turning over in his head. His behavior had been gnawing away at him all day. It all just felt a bit too much like before. The bob of green hair in the corner of his eye roused him from his reverie.
“Midoriya! This does not appear to be a proper meal! As a growing hero, you must take your health and nutrition seriously!” Iida chastised loudly as he, Deku, Todoroki, Uraraka and Asui made their way to a largely uninhabited table in the cafeteria. There, just within earshot, they sat off in his blind spot.
“Don’t be dramatic, Iida! Deku’s been fine! He’s just been-” Uraraka paused a beat before continuing. “Deku, all you got was rice? You love Lunch Rush’s food… maybe Iida is right.”
“Midoriya. Cold soba is nutritionally balanced and a comfort to eat-“
“Todoroki, no...” Katsuki could practically hear Uraraka shaking her head.
“Heh, guys, I’m fine.. you don’t have to worry about me. I just haven’t felt very hungry lately. There’s reallynothing to worry about.” Deku’s laugh felt hollow but the concerned chatter seemed to dial back.
“Well, Midoriya, in this very hall you once extended an offer to speak if I needed it. At the time, I refused to ask for your help and I frequently regret that lapse in judgement. I hope that you know that I, too, am here for you.”
“We all are, ribbit.”
“I’m FINE!” Deku shot back a bit too defiantly. “I mean.. there’s really nothing to discuss,” he insisted a bit more gently. The shrill uptick in his inflection rubbed Katsuki the wrong way.
“Well… perhaps we can discuss the nature of this toy you’d left at my door, Midoriya. I am unaware of any rules that prohibit them on campus but you did not need to avail yourself to bring it to me.”
“Bakubro, you alright?” Kirishima prodded pulling Katsuki back into his surroundings. Unbeknownst to him, he’d abandoned the show of eating altogether and had begun scowling. He shook off the question, deepening his knit brows, curious as to how Deku would evade the scrutiny of the class president once more.
“It’s not a toy, it’s an action figure, Iida. I just… I thought you’d like it. I, uh, picked it up when I went home to visit my mom yesterday.”
“Ah, I see. From its condition, I was uncertain what to glean. I admire the craftmanship, of course. My brother had several successful lines of merchandise, but I do not believe they hold a candle to some of the more seasoned Professional Heroes. I will return it to your care after dinner.”
“-am I right, Bakubabe?” Ashido’s singsong voice broke Katsuki’s concentration as she playfully draped an arm around his shoulders.
“Some fucking friends.” Katsuki muttered gathering his things to make a hasty exit.
 “Woah, no need to be so mean, Kacchan!” Kaminari called after him in jest. “What’s eating him?”
“… Isn’t it obvious?” Ashido sighed.
“All signs point to Midobro…” Kirishima surmised, chancing a glance over at Deku’s table. While his back was to Kirishima’s, the anguish on the faces of those opposite him spoke volumes.
“Oh! Kacchan! You’re still coming by later, right?” Deku called after Katsuki who had already begun fading from view.
--
“Recognizing Suicidal Behavior”
The words seared themselves on Katsuki’s eyes from his phone as he lay in bed, searching for an answer he couldn’t bring himself to ask Deku himself.
“Individual factors… anxiety disorder…. Relationship factors… history of bullying, lost relationships… socially isolated… ashamed to ask for help. Warning signs.” Katsuki murmured as he scanned the site. “Sad or moody, check. Withdrawing from others, check. Changes in personality, appearance, sleep pattern, check, check, check… experiencing recent trauma…. Making… preparations.”
Anxiety stung at his eyes as a fire welled in his chest, licking at his ears. The grip on his phone tightened as he brought it down to his stomach, his teeth grinding painfully. He forced several deep breaths in and out, in and out. “That dumbass. There’s no way. There’s no fucking way. I’ll kill him.” Katsuki rose with a start and wiped the anguish from his face, angrily.
He threw his door open and stomped his way to Deku’s dorm, ripe for confrontation. His balled fist rapped on the door aggressively. If he could see beyond his anger or his concern, he’d probably be worried the door would give way completely. He could hear shuffling from within the room and waited with bated breath.
“Kacchan! I didn’t expect you so soon!” Deku beamed as he carefully slipped through his slightly ajar door. The light that normally shone in his eyes, dimmed by the state of his sallow face.
Katsuki’s fist hung in the space between them menacingly.
“I just-I had something I’d been wanting to give you...” Deku’s eyes lowered, fully engrossed by the tiles on the floor of the hall.
Katsuki’s eyes narrowed to slits. On one hand, he intrusively thought it was about damn time that the nerd acknowledged him but on the other, he was starkly reminded of what had drawn his anger in the first place.
“I hope you don’t judge me too harshly. I.. had him sign it when he took me on as his successor..” Deku admitted under his breath. He gingerly pulled a trading card secured in a protective cover from his pocket and firmly held two corners between his thumbs tensely as he formally presented it to Katsuki.
“Just what the hell do you think you’re doing, hah!?” Katsuki spat darkly, forcibly pushing the trading card back into Deku’s chest. His fearfully questioning expression finding refuge below his bangs. They’d had twin All Might trading cards for over ten years. They’d received both on the same day, at the same time with a stroke of luck that had failed them through what felt like cases mystery packs until, finally, they both ripped open the limited #1 All Might trading card at the same time. Katsuki recalled the shock and joy that had warmed both their smiles that day. He wondered, if happiness felt like the bright, fiery sun on your face, did Deku’s sadness feel like the absence of that? Like the chill of an abruptly setting sun when you expected a long lazy day? Katsuki never liked the cold.
“Kacchan, I-“
“You think I don’t know what you’re doing!? What you’re planning!? Why the fuck-” his head hung parallel to the ground, fist still lingering in midair. “Is it- is it my fault?” The question pushed passed his lips before he could bite it back.
“I’m not sure- I don’t… think I know what you mean.”
Deku’s voice was soft and muffled in Katsuki’s ears. Could barely be heard above the sound of his own pounding pulse booming in his ears. Yet Katsuki could hear the distress that dripped off of his words. “How dare you worry about me when you couldn’t be bothered to think about me while you were doing all of this!” Katsuki growled, becoming aware of sparse tears that had started to trace their way down his face. Every word felt labored, like they were pushing their way forcibly from the pit of his stomach through his esophagus.
“Kacchan-“
“You think after everything you can just fucking leave!? Just give away your shit and end it all!?” Katsuki’s words steadied sharply behind his gritted teeth.
“No, you’re mistak-” Deku feebly proffered, his hands raised defensively. He looked around the abandoned hallway, hoping no one was in earshot of this desperate conversation. “I don’t-”
“You think I believe you!? You’re not right in the head, never were. And now, giving away everything we collected over the years to those fucking extras. And this!” his head shot up to stare blearily about face to his childhood friend, backhanding the treasured trading card away from him. Katsuki’s voice dropped lower, barely above a rasp. “I.. it’s my fault. Is this my fault?” he whispered hoarsely.
Deku’s eyes widened seeing the tears falling freely from Katsuki’s face. Apprehension sculpted his eyebrows before decisively ushering Katsuki into his room, afraid someone would overhear them. Uncertain what to do next, he stared at Katsuki waiting for inspiration to guide him.
Instead, Katsuki filled the silence with his fears. “You think you can just up and disappear, fade from existence and people wouldn’t care? I wouldn’t… notice?” The distance between them felt thick with Katsuki’s tears. His cheeks and nose burned with an exposed vulnerability he hadn’t felt since the last time Deku had made him feel small and uncertain, powerless, even. He wiped his nose with his forearm, feeling his anger welling up once more by the stupid confusion on Deku’s face.
He lowered his face once more, both fists balled at his sides. “I know I have no right to this or to expect anything between us to change. But there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t regretted the crap I said to you last year… or any year before that. It eats at me, not knowing if, one day, you’d actually act on what I said to you because sometimes this shit is too much and I gave you an idea like that. How can I be a hero if I can say such awful fucking things to someone? I don’t know what you’re going through but I know whatever it is, it’s temporary. I know shit went left on that mission and I don’t know how you feel about it. But I can guess you probably think it’s your fault because you take too much on yourself. Like you could have changed something that Pro Heroes couldn’t even avoid… But I know it wasn’t your fault. I know you did everything you could even before Shitty Hair told me about it...”
Deku’s hands knotted themselves nervously before he sent a hand to quell the blossoming heat on the back of his neck, all the while averting his gaze from Katsuki who stood exposed like a wound.
Incited by the persisting quiet between them, Katsuki continued to wring out the thoughts that plagued him, hoping they’d connect to someone he felt so adrift from. “Ever since we got to UA, nothing’s ever gone the way I thought it would. I couldn’t understand it, it was all supposed to be so easy for me. Instead, you just kept shooting further and further ahead of me and, for the longest time, I fucking resented you for that. Like this was karma for all the fucked up crap I put you through even though that resentment is the same reason I treated you so badly before. Even before we got here, it always felt like you were looking down on me with those stupid eyes. The ones that knew the truth about the shitty things I was capable of and the ones that knew you’d be a hero come hell or high water..”
Katsuki clutched at the collar of his shirt, drawing courage he wasn’t certain he had. “I can’t… I can’t change the shit I said before. But I can apologize, now, De- I-Izuku. And I can tell you I’m not going to let you slip through my fucking fingers like this. You can’t and you better not think you can chicken shit your way out of this. I’ll put you on watch my fucking self if I have to,” he decided defiantly, knowing even this wouldn’t make things between them square.
His eyebrows gathered expectantly waiting for a response, not sure whether he could face his childhood friend. Suddenly uncomfortable with his honesty and uncertain whether Izuku could give him the absolution he needed, his bravado began to take over, “Besides- I can’t be number one if I don’t beat everybody and that means you, too, you shitty nerd. So don’t think you can take the easy way out.”
“Kacchan… I… Did you-? I’m not going to kill myself.” Izuku declared, bewildered by Katsuki’s assertion.
Katsuki could feel one of his eyes twitching angrily. “HAH?” Surely, he didn’t misread the situation. Izuku checked all the despondent boxes complete with giving prized keepsakes to those he considered closest. What else could this be if not a call for help? Was denial normal in the face of confrontation for stuff like this? Maybe he should have gone straight to Aizawa instead of sticking his foot in his mouth… again. His eyes shot up to interrogate Izuku more directly. “You mean to tell me, that all this was….” the question died on his lips, his eyes widening. “Is that? Is that the 10th Anniversary All Might poster that was never released for sale for the public??”
--
“You shitty fucking nerd.” Katsuki laughed derisively. Both boys sat with their knees tented and their backs against Izuku’s dorm room door staring up at the victorious gaze of their idol hero, All Might.
“I can’t believe you thought I’d kill myself...” Izuku tightly hugged his knees to his chest.
“As if I committed the biggest faux pas here.” Katsuki’s eyes rolled, a disbelieving grin tugging at his upturned lips. “And, naturally, you thought giving away all your other merch would make you feel less guilty.”
“I wanted it so bad, Kacchan. I knew it’s what Sir Nighteye would have wanted…” Izuku nodded, his eyes wide and a bit of dribble pooling at one corner of his mouth.
“You fucking otaku! You couldn’t even wait for the body to get cold before you were doubling back for that poster, huh?” Katsuki’s laugh was harsh and unexpected but, in light of the recent revelation, put Izuku to some semblance of ease.
“I didn’t think it should go to waste…” Izuku’s gaze lowered as his voice dropped off. “Now I can’t bare to look at it, it’s like All Might himself is judging me.”
“Can’t ya just ask the real All Might? I’m sure he’d give you some peace of mind about it.”
“Kacchan, how can I ask the real All Might after what I’ve done? I swear it was like I was in a fugue state. One minute, I’m at the hospital with Mirio, Bubble Girl and Centipeder, and the next I’m in his dark office with this poster rolled under my arm. How can I be a hero after this?” Izuku exasperated, burying his head between his knees.
Katsuki exhaled slowly, lightly throwing his head back as he came to terms with how similar he and Izuku were. Both looked up to All Might in different but not incorrect ways. Both wanted to be number one. Both knew a treasure when they saw it. He snorted, “If I can continue on the path to number one after everything I put you through, I think I can give you the greenlight to still be a hero. We’re not our pasts… even if your past is like.. from yesterday, you little shit.”
“Kacchan!” Izuku groaned. “You’re making it worse!”
“I’m kidding! I’m kidding. If you can promise to stay the course, I can promise to keep your secret.” Katsuki stared sidelong at the ball of regret beside him. He cocked his head waiting for a reluctant response.
“Secret, huh?”
“You’ve kept mine, after all. ‘ts the least I can do.” Katsuki elbowed Izuku playfully, rousing him from his withdrawn position.
“… you know you can let that one go, Kacchan. Maybe I’ve just always known the way you were, but... there’s never been anything you’ve done that’s made you less of a hero to me.” Izuku’s words were muffled by the forearm that still pressed firmly against his mouth.
Katsuki looked away bashfully, his eyes meeting All Might’s. Maybe this was another thing the nerd had that he’d covet. Somehow, seeing the weight of it, the burden of it, put it into perspective. He smiled softly, letting his head lean slackly against the door. "Better to have a rival than a memory."he thought, suddenly grateful to relish in the unspoken familiarity they had even after all this time.
--
A/N: As inspired by, “Say Yes to Heaven” by Lana Del Rey because I feel like I once saw a tiktok where a Bakugo cosplayer insinuated they’d keep a watchful eye on Deku who’d begun giving away things that were important to him (or maybe that was a just a Mandela effect).
While in this instance, Izuku was just really, really sketchy, be aware of the impact you have on others and be mindful of the behavior of those you care about. There are always resources available and someone to speak to.

I'll Take You Both Down (My Hero Academia)
This fic was commissioned by @silentprincesstickles. Thank you!
Primary Universe
Summary: Kaminari catches Deku and Bakugou fighting over who is the reigning champion in their tickle war and decides it may be best for him to put them both in their place!
A/N: This fic+ sold fast and I was very excited to read the prompt for it! This was a lot of fun to work on. I love writing pure chaos between MHA characters, and it comes so naturally when Bakugou is involved. Plus it's a nice, natural way to begin expanding on my Primary Universe again! Enjoy!
Word Count: 2,615
~~~
CLANG!!
Kaminari screeched to an abrupt halt, startled. Before he even had time to wonder what the noise had been or where it had come from, it was followed by a string of loud, angry curses and grunts that could only have been King Explosion Murder himself. What was he doing? Throwing pots and pans around in the kitchen?
“Idiot! Stop!” Bakugou roared from just up ahead. Kami couldn’t see him yet, but it didn’t take a genius to know he was about to tear someone’s head off. “Someone will see! Someone will hehehear! Nohohohoho!”
Okay, now he had to know what was going on. Kaminari quickly glanced over his shoulder to check no one else was about to stumble upon what was clearly Bakugou frantically trying to keep the whole dorm from knowing he was being tickled right now. Satisfied that the coast was clear, the blonde jogged forward the last few steps and discovered Bakugou pinned to the fridge, arms clamped to his sides while he fought off a huge smile.
The culprit?
Deku.
“Come on, Kacchan, aren’t you going to fight me?” the greenette teased, digging deep into his underarms, grinning just as big, looking excited. “You don’t want everyone to come rushing in and seeing you like this, right?”
Kaminari was surprised at his friend’s audacity, but he took the opportunity to make his presence known. “I don’t know, Midoriya. Maybe he actually likes it.”
Both of the others spun to face him, all tickling coming to a halt as quickly as it had begun.
Bakugou shoved Deku away so hard he tripped and fell to the floor. “One of these days you’re going to get me caught, stupid nerd! I told you to stop!”
Kaminari glanced over his shoulder again. They were still clear. “Yeah, lucky for you both it’s just me.”
Deku looked sheepish as he got back to his feet. “Sorry.”
“What are you doing here anyway, dunce face?” Bakugou snapped, turning and opening the fridge, trying to hide how flustered he was.
“Uh…I missed dinner? What are you two doing in here? I thought Midoriya at least would be studying.”
“I’m taking a break. All Might told me I really need to be better at that,” Deku replied.
Bakugou closed the door after having grabbed a drink and leaned against the counter. “Iida told you that, fanboy. Not All Might. Everything is All Might with you.”
Deku looked offended. “All Might told me first! Iida just agrees with him. Like you don’t admire All Might as much as I do, Kacchan.”
Kaminari cleared his throat and strode to the fridge, strategically placing himself between the two of them. “So, uh…is it normal for you to just…randomly tickle him, Midoriya?”
Bakugou scoffed.
Deku shifted his weight. “I-I mean…we have tickle fights sometimes. I just wanted…”
“Ask me,” Bakugou snapped, slamming his fist on the counter. “How many times do we have to go over this? You’re always so observant and take notes on everything except this!”
“Okay!” Kami interjected quickly, putting a hand to his friend’s shoulder. “We get it. You’re mad. Calm down, blasty.”
“Blasty is what Mina calls me, you little—”
“And Midoriya,” the sparky blonde turned to the other boy in the room. “Why tickle him in a situation where he’s not comfortable with it? Like, you know…in public? We both know he hates that. You’re better than that, man.”
Deku suddenly looked guilty and embarrassed all at once. He lowered his eyes. “I know. I really am sorry.”
“If you were sorry, you wouldn’t keep doing it,” Bakugou grumbled. He took a long drink of lemonade, drowning his frustration.
Kaminari glanced between the two of them, a tiny smile creeping onto his face. “So you two have tickle fights pretty regularly? That’s cute.”
“It’s not cute!”
“It isn’t cute! This is war!”
“What?” Kami blinked, zeroing in on Deku’s words. “War?”
“We’re having a tickle war!”
Bakugou hissed, “Shut up, Deku!”
Kami asked, “Who’s winning?”
“Me,” they both replied in unison.
“Hah! As if!” Bakugou laughed, jabbing a finger toward his rival. “You’re so easy to take down it’s stupid. We both know I win every fight we have.”
Deku shot back, “No you don’t! I’ve won some. And you’re just as ticklish as me, Kacchan.”
“I’ve been beating your butt since we were kids, stupid nerd.”
“I won the last fight we had, which means I’m ahead of you now!”
Kaminari listened to the two of them go back and forth for a couple of minutes before deciding he’d had enough. He was getting a headache. He slapped a hand over each of their mouths, silencing the increasingly noisy kitchen in an instant.
“All right, there’s only one way to settle this.” He then took each of them by the arm and dragged them away from the kitchen, out the back door, and into the forest, out of sight of the dorms. About halfway there each of his friends wriggled free from him but followed nonetheless, apparently curious as to how Kami intended to settle this debate for them.
When they got to a spot everyone was happy with, the sparky blonde turned to face them both with a smirk. “You both keep saying you’re the best at wrecking each other, but we all know I’m the best at wrecking everyone.”
“What?” Deku and Bakugou said at the same time. The greenette added, “Says who?”
“Everyone!” Kami grinned. “Think about it. Who has been able to stand my tickle attacks, huh? Nobody, that’s who. Not even the most durable student in Class 1-A hasn’t been able to stand a more than a couple of minutes.”
Bakugou thought of Deku and smirked, but Deku thought of Kirishima and blinked in confusion. “What does that have to do with us?”
“You both think you’re so high and mighty, but neither of you could win against me.”
“Since when are you so high and mighty? I haven’t heard of you taking anyone down in months, dunce face.”
Kami shrugged. “So I’ve taken a backseat to let others have their fun. So what? If I wanted to, I could still kick both of your butts in a tickle war.”
Bakugou crossed his arms. “I beg to differ.”
“Beg all you want. I’ll prove it to you right here.”
“You want a fight, huh?”
“If calling it that will help you feel better about losing, then sure.” Kaminari was getting cocky now, and Bakugou was getting fed up with it fast. “I can take you both down at once. I’d bet on it.”
Deku was intrigued. “All right, bring it on!”
“Hold up,” Bakugou interrupted. “You’re not gonna wimp out and say you only want light tickling, are you? Otherwise it’s not a fair fight.”
Kami hesitated for only a moment. “All right, just this once, I’ll make an exception. Tickle me however you want. I guarantee I can still take you both down at the same time.”
Deku’s eyes were so bright they were almost hard to look at directly. “What’s the prize?”
Kami smirked at Bakugou as he answered. “If you two win, you can choose the penalty.”
“Confident son of a gun today, huh, sparky?” the atomic blonde grumbled.
“Sparky is what Mina calls me.” Kami winked at him. “But if I win, I choose my prize. Sound good?”
“Tch, whatever.” Bakugou rolled his shoulders. “You’re going down.”
Deku bounced on his toes, looking all too eager to get underway. “What he said!”
Kaminari cracked his knuckles. He couldn’t wait. It appeared the both of them had forgotten about his special trick, and he couldn’t wait to see the look on their faces when they realized how screwed they were.
“Ready, nerd?”
“Ready, Kacchan. Kaminari?”
The electric blonde subtly began to warm up his quirk. “Bring it on.”
Bakugou moved first. Deku was right behind him, and Kaminari behind both of them.
It worked like a charm. While each of his opponents reached for his torso as their first attack, Kami’s hands went over them both and reached into their armpits from behind. While they did get a few tickles in and made him grin, they both shrieked in surprise and stumbled away, already on the defensive.
“Oh,” Deku said, the first to remember, eyes wide.
Bakugou took a second longer. “What the heck was – wait! Hold on, that’s an unfair advantage!”
“We never said no quirks,” Kaminari laughed, lunging for them both while they were still off-guard. He reached Deku first and activated his quirk while tickling the greenette’s ribs, bringing him to his knees in a fit of hysterical giggles instantly.
“Ehehehehehehe! Wahahahahait!”
Bakugou growled, in full fight mode now. No way was he going down as easily as that nerd. No way. He grabbed Kami’s free arm and wrenched it above his head, drilling into his open side with a vigor that would have scared the electric hero if the situation had been more serious.
Kaminari giggled openly as well but never let up on his attack on Deku. The greenette was curled into a ball on the ground, looking happy as could be. If Bakugou didn’t know any better, he’d think his rival wanted to be beaten by this extra.
“Get up and fight, dang it, Deku!” he yelled, trying to pry Kami’s other hand away from him. “You’re such a wimp! Don’t give up that easily!”
“I c-couldn’t help it,” Deku replied breathlessly, taking the opportunity to grab Kami’s knee and squeeze, remembering how bad of a tickle spot it was on his friend.
Sure enough, Kaminari squealed and his quirk fizzled out, leaving him vulnerable to a double attack from the both of them. At first he tried to physically punch his way out, but then decided to just let it happen. He fell back onto the grass, each of his friends straddling a leg and squeezing his kneecaps, making him toss his head back and laugh uncontrollably.
“Not so high and mighty now, huh?” Bakugou laughed triumphantly, grabbing one arm and shoving it above his head, wiggling deep into his open armpit. “Tickle, tickle, dunce face!”
Deku, meanwhile, continued to tickle his knee and thigh, beaming at the hysterics they were causing together.
Kaminari knew he’d only have one shot at this. If he missed, or if they dodged fast enough, it was all over for him. He’d blow a fuse if they kept it up. So, gathering all of the energy he had left after being tickled so hard so fast, he shot upright and thrust his hands out. One into Bakugou’s armpit, one onto Deku’s hip.
He lit up his quirk.
Both of his attackers screamed and fell back.
Within a span of five seconds, Kaminari had completely swapped places with the two of them. Now he sat on their legs – one each – and continued using his quirk to shock and light up their most ticklish spots mercilessly.
Deku, as expected, gave in immediately. “AHAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHOHO!! NOT THEHEHEHEHEHEHERE!! OKAY, OKAY, YOU WIHIHIHIHIHIHIN!! KAMINARI!!”
“That’s one down,” Kami chuckled, turning to focus more on Bakugou, knowing he’d be harder. “Anything to say, King Explosion Murder?”
“I’LL KIHIHIHIHIHILL YOU!!”
“Well, yeah, that was obvious.”
“QUIT CHEHEHEHEHEHEATING AND FIHIHIHIHIGHT LIKE A MAHAHAHAN!!”
Kaminari tsked. “No, see, that’s not what I need to hear.”
“KAMINARI!! PLEHEHEHEHEHEASE, STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!” Deku begged, clutching his stomach as he laughed himself silly.
“Sorry, Midoriya. I said I’d bring both of you down at once, remember? So until Bakugou gives up, you’re stuck like this.” He sent an extra jolt into his friend’s hip to make him scream. “You’ll have to appeal to him.”
“KACCHAHAHAHAHAHAHAN!!” Deku cried, reaching a hand out to try and grab his friend’s arm but only managing to slam his fist into the ground from the ticklish agony he was in. “GIVE UP!! PLEHEHEHEHEHEASE, GIVE UP!!”
Bakugou – though roaring with laughter himself – stubbornly refused. “LIHIHIHIHIHIHIKE HEHEHEHEHEHCK I’M GIHIHIHIVING UP!! BOHOHOHOHOTH OF YOU ARE WIHIHIHIMPS!! STUPD EXTRAHAHAHAHAHAS!!”
“I take it you’re content to let me keep tickling you, then?” Kami teased, watching his master plan unfold with great satisfaction. He sent an extra jolt into Bakugou’s underarm this time. “While letting Midoriya suffer with you? How mean.”
“I DOHOHOHON’T CAHAHAHAHARE ABOUT THAT NEHEHEHEHEHERD!!”
Kami smirked, sliding his fingers down juuuust enough to get to that super special spot. “Oh?”
“GAH!!” Bakugou arched off the ground, tried to roll away, and slammed back into place when Kaminari’s weight on him kept him right where he was. He clamped one arm to his side and flailed the other frantically, hitting Deku in the face a couple of times. “STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!! NOT THEHEHEHEHERE YOU JEHEHEHEHEHEHERK!! I’LL KILL YOU!! I SWEHEHEHEHEAR!! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!”
“Do you give up?” Kaminari asked.
“NEHEHEHEHEHEHEVER!!”
“Hmm~”
Deku screamed a second time when he felt an extra strong ticklish sensation in his hips. He was losing his mind laughing, but nothing he said or did could get him out of this mess. It was all on Bakugou. Shrieking with hysterics, he rolled onto his side as much as possible and found the same spot on his friend’s other side, digging in with whatever strength he had left.
Bakugou’s other arm slammed down. His head flew back as bouts of uncontrollable laughter burst from his lungs whether he liked it or not. “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! NOHOHOHOHO!! NOT THERE, NOT THEHEHEHEHEHEHEHERE!! NOT BOHOHOHOTH OF YOU!!” He snorted, then cursed as his face lit up bright red. “FIHIHIHIHIHINE, I GIHIHIHIHIHIVE UP!! JUST PLEASE STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!”
Kaminari beamed as he silenced his quirk and sat back, watching his friends gasp for air and let out residual giggles. Deku looked like he’d just had a great time. Bakugou looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.
“I h-hate…both of you,” he grumbled, jerking his leg up and out from under Kaminari, sending him sprawling.
Deku was the first to sit up. He nudged Bakugou with his own freed leg. “Aw, come on, Kacchan. That was fun, wasn’t it? Unbearable, but fun.” He smiled at their attacker. “I guess you win, Kami—”
“Screw that!” Bakugou snapped, sitting up as well and glaring at both of them. “He didn’t take us down all on his own. You cheated and helped him!”
“I just helped you give up faster so I wouldn’t die laughing,” Deku protested. “He still had you. You’d have given up eventually.”
“I would not, you stupid nerd!”
“Ahem!” Kaminari cleared his throat before they could go after each other. “I’ll leave you two to battle it out. I’ll collect my payment later, okay? Whatever I want, remember~”
Bakugou clenched his fists. “You didn’t win, dunce face! Deku helped you!”
“Tell me you could have gotten away from me without blasting everyone within a mile radius,” Kami challenged.
“Not wanting to kill you extras doesn’t mean I lost!”
Deku shoved him playfully. “Aww, Kacchan, you do care about us!”
“SHUT UP!! I’M GOING TO DESTROY YOU BOTH!!”
Kaminari watched as Deku was tackled back into the grass, bright laughter filling the charged space again with ease. The blonde watched the two of them with amusement. It seemed to him that Deku wanted to get wrecked today. Well, he could have his fun. Right now Kami’s headache was returning and he wanted no part of whatever revenge match was about to go down.
“Well, like I said, I’ll check in with you guys later,” he announced, knowing that neither of them could hear. He grinned, shrugged, and walked away calmly, leaving the two of them to have their much-needed tickle fight in the privacy of the forest where no one could hear them screaming with laughter.
Especially not Bakugou.
i know this is so random but im watching mha and i just wanted to say that s1 deku and all might give me luz and eda coding and thats so random but now im wondering if anyone has made a toh au where magic is like quirks and shit cause like itd be really cool.
im only on s2 and i have no idea what happens but thats just my vibes. yk like think about it- all might literally gives deku all for one and deku has the dream of becoming a hero despite being quirkless while looking up to and idolizing all might for years. him being deku's favorite hero and him taking countless notes about quirks and heros. people call him a fanboy but like hes just so... idk... like he gives me somewhat luz coding. and i know thats me hyperfixating and wanting to cross my media consumptions with one another BUT IT SOUNDS SO FITTING IN MY HEAD.
anyway why am i like this 😔. all of this started because i fucking bought ones justice 2 the other day. fast forward im watching and bingeing the anime.
Photo Op
Izuku Midoriya x reader
~Izuku just has to get a picture with his Idol, even if it's a cheap imitation.
This is another installment for my 300 followers event which you could find HERE.
Tumblr media
'Wait!, Izuku,' you call speed walking after the mop of fluffy green hair carefully making his way through the crowd. His muscular frame trying not to trample over any other Pakgoers. "Where are you going?"
Seeing that your shouts are in vain. Once there is enough space to run without obstacles you take off, finally catching up to the pro hero and grabbing his scarred hand with both of yours.
His Emerald orbs find your face as he realizes that you were not following close behind him on his little excursion. Just as he is about to speak you double over in an attempt to catch your breath and hold out one finger to signal his silence.
Once the air has returned to your lungs you stand up straight. “Why did you run off on me?”
His freckled cheeks turn pink as he bashfully rubs the back of his neck. “I uhhh” He starts before the rest of his sentence turns into embarrassed murmurs.
'What was that Zuku?' You tease leaning playfully toward him.
'I wanted to see All Might?
'All Might?' you ask shifting your weight to your other foot. "I don't think All Might is here, Isn't he teaching Today?"
"Not that All Might," he laughs shaking his head and pointing to a  man in a cheesy costume that vaguely resembles the former Number One Pro Hero.
Understanding immediately that the inner fanboy is breaking free from the Pro Hero’s shell
You start to laugh at the sight of the costume. "Well, that almost looks like him."
"Can we get a picture with him then?" he says eagerly looking down at you with the biggest puppy dog eyes he can muster.
"Yeah sure!" you say smiling down at him.
He happily takes your hand and leads you to the back of the line where the  Costumed cast member is taking pictures with some kids. The funny thing is your boyfriend is more excited to meet the hero than the kids seem to be. Especially since he keeps attracting stares from the others in the crowd.
A little girl tugs on her mother's sleeve and points up at your boyfriend in an excited whisper "Mama, that's Deku."
Her mother glances over at the two of you before affectionately looking back at her child. "Dear, just because he has green hair doesn't mean he's Deku. Besides, he already has loads of pictures with the rea~ with All Might why would he wait in this long line." She kisses her daughter on the forehead and continues on her way.
You can't help but let out a deep snort at the conversation. Izuku's face turns a deep red in embarrassment, what the woman said was the truth, he does have countless photos with the real All Might
The next couple of minutes is filled with the near rhythmic shuttering of cameras as the line whittles down. Finally, you make it to the front of the line. Up close the All Might costume looks even cheesier.  The muscles inside of the suit seem to be filled with lopsided stuffing and the wig is a hideously dyed dandelion color. Everything looks wring but your boyfriend's eyes sparkle nonetheless.
After posing for a few pictures the staff member who was taking the pictures hands you the camera and nods towards the exit.
"Thank you so much All Might," Your boyfriend says happily giving the man a tight hug.
He's initially weirded out by the fanboyish actions but he shrugs it off with an imitated smile. "it was my pleasure good citizen."
As you walk away he looks at the photos with a pout "He always calls me Young Midoriya,"
You toss your head back in laughter, “How would he know that Zuku?”
“Because he's All Might,” he mumbles looking back at the picture.
With a smile, you snatch it from his hands and he looks up in confusion. “What are you doing with that?”
“I’m just gonna snap a picture of this and send it to the real All Might.”
You wouldn't" he says
"You wanna bet?" you say waving the photograph mockingingly in the air as he grabs for it. "You'll have to catch me first."
With that, the two of you run off together through the park.
Okay okay fine, I have another crossover idea, it’s based on an unfinished fic I’ve read (no, it’s not Assassin’s Creed, sorry to say) (that’s the next idea)
My Hero Academia x Madoka Magica
Instead of All Might giving Deku OFA, he makes a deal with Kyubey to become a hero, to maybe save Bakugou.
While yeah, in Madoka it’s just girls who are given a contract, for the sake of the story, lets say both girls and boys can become magical. Call em magical heroes instead? Because MHA.
Deku can be a hero, but (as I’d imagine for other magical heroes) he needs to leave to fight witches on top of villains. Who sometimes get amped up by witches to cause more chaos. This can lead to some angst, as I’d imagine.
Make some OC’s, give canon characters the Magica make over, or have him meet the Madoka Magica crew, whatever works.
And because I love me some tragic endings, if it’s a one shot, or just a hurt fic, Deku realizes his fate to become a witch and inevitably hurt everyone, he does and falls into his fate, or worse, chooses to die early to avoid this fate. To his friends and mom’s horror.
A longer running fic might have him team up with other magical heroes (maybe Madoka and her crew 👀) to take down an ancient witch who teamed up with a certain villain, cough cough AFO cough.
But hey, who knows, take this wherever you want.
Also I’d imagine Deku’s magical outfit being really cute and bunny related, Idk, it suits him. Maybe has the warm fuzzy vibe while still looking like he could kick ass.
His ability? Maybe quirk copying or replication with green constructs? Or a basic physical enhancement like All Might’s, being the fanboy he is. Hell, danger sense, but with witches, make my boy a homing missile!
His weapon? Definitely like gauntlets and knee pads or something, like he could use his body as a weapon to wreck shit. Like he does in canon, lmao.
Well, have fun!
shigaraki was what got you into bnha, but what made spinner your favorite? (and if you want, opinions on the each member of league?)
look at you remembering the lore
well one of spinner's appealing traits was that he was clearly smitten with shigaraki which put him in my good books as someone who was originally reading for shigaraki. in that same vein, he held a character trait that's always a win with me, being a gay evil lil minion. it's so good when born henchman is clearly desperate to get railed by his boss.
but more than that, for spinner to have struck me and be my special guy for like four years now, is how easy it would have been to write a character like spinner out or just leave him as a fully sidelined character, and how that didn't happen. instead MVA is used to develop and settle the purpose of spinner's character alongside shigaraki, in a way that built off and recontextualised the bits of character from prior in the story, and ended up being a consistent thread throughout the rest of the story, constantly reinforced literally every time he appeared. like regardless of spinner's status among readers there is genuine attention and care for him except for when he was rendered unable to give an opinion to counter shouji despite being the only character capable of really talking about the heteromorph discrimination in an interesting way but whatever i still got chapter 373
also it helped that when MVA was ongoing there was only like one other person posting regularly about the arc who seemed to see the same thing in the character i did (@codenamesazanka hiiiiii <3) so i got a nice little contrarian thrill when everyone else was So Wrong. remember how many people were convinced spinner was going to betray the league to the mla. remember how there are still people who think that spinner's main character trait is being a stain fanboy. i get a lil huff when i think about how i know him so much better than the masses.
i feel like there's more that i can say about spinner and how much he's always going to be my most special boy one of my all time legends but i'll end up crying and that's so embarrassing. rest of the league under the cut.
moonfish. he's so funny. he was on death row and he eats people but he's still concerned with a job well done. what's his story.
mustard. also so funny. i think more should be said about how this middle school kid got a gun and joined a terrorist group and is genuinely trying to commit murder and he is just in middle school. or just about to leave it. it's clearly cowardice that stops the story from calling back to him this middle school terrorist and why he's doing what he's doing, much like toga stabbing her crush a lil like we need some context.
muscular is the funniest character bar none in the entire manga. he's got special fake eyes. he's super chill about the world being kill or be killed. i want to go out for drinks with him so fucking bad. he was BORN in a baby fighting ring why won't anyone acknowledge it. i think he should have his own spin off. i think he should be allowed to kill deku. and kouta for good measure.
magne was the smartest and most proactive character in the league. the way she deduced that deku must have beat muscular and that he had to be taken out, coming up with a plan during kamino when bakugou & co were blasting off ruined only by mt. lady, immediately recognizing that overhaul was full of shit and moving to deal with him. her only mistake was not realising that closing in on a guy whose quirk she didn't know might be risky. genuinely still mourning her, and i think there would have been a really fascinating story in her if she stuck around longer. for example, as someone very proactive, how would she have taken shigaraki's lollygagging in the post-overhaul pre-mla era? at the very least, i wish the league would think back on her more often.
dabi, i'm still an avowed hater, but i more cool with him now that we know his full backstory. i appreciate that he's not a momma's boy or a nobly suffering big brother, there's something sad and real and understandable about his desperation to be seen, his fears of being discarded. still my least favourite character though. i've seen people be like "oh you really have to read between the lines to understand him, he's not what he seems on the surface, blah blah" you don't need to read between any more lines than any other character. all dabi ships suck so bad except for dabi/skeptic not joking.
mr compress is so funny bro he took out his ass to save the league. i'm not really into dadpress headcanons but i do appreciate the little ways you can see compress caring about the league before his big sacrifice play. i'm very much like waiting with held breath to see if we get anything more about him before the story ends - i want to know the backstory and how it led him to the league soooo fucking bad. also anytime we get lore about society from the villains it's so good it's literally the best. i have a lot of hopes laying with him right now.
twice. said it before i'll say it again, he's the best written character in the series no contest. no time was wasted with him, something was developed with him every appearance, and the only thing detracting from how well done his death was done was how fucking bad a character hawks is. i was literally nauseous for two weeks after he was killed but unlike a lot of people i think, it was something i fully expected after his development in mva. i do absolutely hate when fans obsessed with power scaling are like "horikoshi made twice too op that's why he was killed off" NO everything with twice was purposeful and evocative. except for the aftermath where twice's murder ended up being tangential for everyone except toga. but that's not twice's fault it's hawks', for being an insanely badly written character. i miss him.
toga. well. it's so funny than the murderous blood-drinking girly girl ended up being the best written female character of the entire series. lmao. i like how she is the most normal teenage girl in the world. blood drinking and all. i would like the quirk counseling to be explored more and made a thing that characters recognize happened to her. but i guess sidelining it helps with the castielification. there's actually more i can say about her but overall Love and she's never going to die.
shigaraki. shigaraki......................chapter 379 was so satisfying. if deku ruins him i'm killing for real. too much to say so i'll stick with Love and he's never going to die.
gigantomachia counts i love him he's so moe. he shoulda squashed shinsou like a bug.
Inuyasha x Bnha BkDk AU
A lot of the time I’ll see AUs like this that just replace the Inuyasha characters with those from another story, which is fun in its own way, but I don’t think it really takes the possibilities of this AU to its fullest potential.  (not to mention that trapping different characters into another character’s arc always seems really…confining? to me?)  Inuyasha has a lot of really interesting characters and world-building on it’s own, and putting characters you love from other stories in that setting as themselves allows for a lot of character development and some really complex story arcs, as long as you’re willing to follow the thread.  My goal in this AU is to develop Bakugou and Midoriya’s relationship in a similar pattern as canon, just with a different setting, with different stakes and different characters surrounding them. I also want to see how bkdk would affect the narrative of Inuyasha and the characters therein, because??? These two are ridiculous??? And inflicting them on other people amuses me. (Also, I just really love Kitsune Katsuki ^^’) So, with all that said…
This is the set up and general gist of the AU as I’ve developed so far:
(physically, Katsuki is around 12 to start.  Kitsune tails are earned by completing certain trials, or by otherwise overcoming difficult situations)
Izuku is 4 years old growing up in the age of quirks, and is, unfortunately for his poor mother, extremely susceptible to shenanigans.  During a special new years visit to a temple in Tokyo with his mom, he ends up falling down an old well in a derelict shrine. After crying a reasonable amount and managing to climb out of the well (then crying a little more), he finds the shrine has disappeared, and someone with a very interesting mutant quirk is sitting across the clearing and watching him, large wings twitching.  Izuku, already being a quirk fanboy, and also 4 years old, immediately approaches the only adult around to ask for help (and about their quirk).  The yokai, being hungry, kidnaps the child.
So begins a series of baffling events, interspersed with much wailing and an alarming amount of tears, which results in Izuku somehow not eaten and instead carried hundreds of miles away from the Bone Eaters Well and onto the holy mountain Hakurei, where a powerful young kitsune has recently begun a hundred years of training and meditation to achieve his third tail…
Instead of the quiet solitude Katsuki had been expecting on the lonely mountain, he instead has this inexplicable human child following him around everywhere, calling him amazing.  Any attempts to dump the child off with the nearest humans results in the little flea somehow making its way back to him.  Katsuki would just squish it, but it’s almost too pathetic to kill…and also the stipulation set by his mother for earning his next tail is that he not kill anyone for the requisite century.  Withstanding the holy aura of the mountain for that long is only half the struggle, it seems–but earning a tail has to be hard; otherwise all foxes would have nine tails.  And Katsuki is no mere fox.  Damn hag.
So, Katsuki accepts Izuku, who he dubs Deku, as another facet of necessary suffering for the sake of getting stronger.  Doesn’t mean he can’t yell at the twerp though.  And maybe kick him. Just a little.
Consequently, a number of months pass with that damn twerp Deku going back and forth between leeching off the humans* and bothering Katsuki.  He jabbers about “quirks” and “heroes” and a god named All Might, (who Kastuki immediately declares he will defeat in combat, to the twerps complete indignation. “You can’t kill All Might, Kacchan!”), and performs much oohing and ahhing and “Amazing, Kacchan!”-ing at the slightest demonstration of Katsuki’s prodigious and awe-inspiring and super cool abilities.
Katsuki finds himsef almost impressed by the humans sheer determination to annoy the fuck out of him.  He then performs the tricks again to rapturous applause, and pretends not to preen.
Katsuki even deigns to teach the squirt a few things, to various levels of success.  Skipping rocks and origami both go similarly terribly.  Wood carving ends in disaster.  Tracking goes alright for a while, even if he is still pretty shitty, so when Katsuki challenges Deku to track him down and hides away, it takes Katsuki until sundown to realize that something might have gone wrong.  He would never admit to worrying, but the mountain is dangerous at night, and Deku, being Deku, and therefore both stubborn as well as stupid, wouldn’t have given up and just gone back to the village when he couldn’t find Katsuki.  He knew Deku would still be on the mountain.  Annoyed, Katsuki emerges and goes scenting for Deku. With a spike of fear, he recognizes the scent of human blood. Katsuki runs.
“Kacchan!”
There, tangled and dangling in the vines of a willow, with a bloody nose and scraped knees, is the one and only Deku, who, true to form, immediately bursts into tears.
“Kacchan!” he blubbers past the blood and mucus. “I was so worried about you!”
Katsuki looks up at him in disbelief and mounting rage.  Why the hell was shitty Deku worried about him?  He was a Bakugou, a Kitsune of the Bursting Flame, and Deku was just a weak human child.  Why was he apologizing about getting stuck and leaving Katsuki alone?  Why was he asking if Katsuki was alright?  Why, why, why?
And how did he even get up there in the first place?
“Er, Kacchan?  Could you help me down, please?”
Katsuki explodes.
Eventually, Katsuki cools off enough to get Deku down, call him stupid nine different ways, and then drop him off at the village like a sack of potatoes.  When Deku comes back to him again, Katsuki sits him down and teaches him to weave. Katsuki braids a bracelet made from strands of his own silken fur and one of his fangs, and then casts a spell on it.  He then lugs it at Deku’s fat head and tells him to wear it and never take it off.  “I’ll always be able to find you with that thing.  And you’ll always be able to make your way back to me.  So don’t go being an idiot and losing it!”
Cue gross sobbing and adamant promises from the resident 4 year old.  Deku eventually is able to braid a bracelet out of some ribbon and a twinkling bell he finds in the village to give to Katsuki. Katsuki calls it ugly, but wears it anyway. Life goes on.
Over time, Izuku develops a certain melancholy.  He still follows Katsuki like a dumb puppy, but there is a certain shuffling to his gait and dullness to his dumb doe eyes that somehow annoys Katsuki even more than his usual stupidity.  He demands Deku tell him what’s wrong, and with much nervous fiddling and mumbling and only a little bit of Katsuki grabbing him by the scruff and shaking, he tells him.
Deku misses his mother.  It’s been a really long time, and she’s probably really sad right now.  He doesn’t know what to do.
Katsuki goes quiet. His own mother left him here to train for a hundred years on his own.  He doesn’t think ill of her for it, since he wants to be strong, and this is the best way to do it.  But he can’t say that when it’s dark, and the wind is strong and howling outside his makeshift den, that he doesn’t sometimes wish he could burrow into his mothers golden furs and block out the night, warm in the comfort of her protection.
And here Deku is, openly missing his mother after only a few measly months. The coming decades stretch out before Katsuki like the horizon over a cliff’s edge.  He shivers.  Then pauses.  Katsuki will be alright.  He’s strong, he doesn’t need his mother around to take care of himself.  But Deku?  He’s a total wimp.  And in any case…
“Do you want to see her again?”
Deku nods.
Katsuki doesn’t say anything for a long moment. Then he takes a long look at Izuku, sitting quietly and staring earnestly back up at him, small and weak and precious, and comes to a decision.
“I can send you home.”
So Katsuki uses his magic to send Izuku, his only friend, away from the mountain, towards home.  And as the light engulfing Izuku races him away like a shooting star, Katsuki stands alone, three tails hanging limp behind him, his only reward for a selfless act.
“Goodbye, Izuku.”
Izuku, released from Katsuki’s magic and falling down a well, hopes he hasn’t worried his mom too much, and can’t wait to tell her all about his new friend.
Inko Midoriya receives a phone call 9 months after her son went missing at the old Higurashi Shrine
No one believes Izuku’s story as he tells it, but investigations into possible cults and quirks including large wings in northern Japan abound
Izuku tries to convince his mother to go back to the well, since Kacchan probably really misses him by now, but Inko refuses.
A year later, after worries that trauma from his experience may have stunted quirk development, Izuku is officially diagnosed Quirkless.
When Izuku turns six, he boards a bus from Musutafu to Tokyo on his own, determined to visit Kacchan.  When he gets to the well, he breaks his wrist hitting the bottom, and worsens it trying to dig down into it.  The shrine keepers find him sobbing in the dark, and rush to get him out and home.  Inko grounds Izuku forever and ever, and Izuku doesn’t react.
Izuku grows up.
In middle school, Izuku meets his hero
All Might finds his successor.
Centuries in the past, Katsuki hates his third tail.
But since he’s already here anyway
He decides to stay on the mountain and complete the century of training to achieve his fourth.
He’s gonna have to start the count over again though
Fuck
Fifty years later, a Hanyou falls in love with a priestess.
An evil man becomes a demon.
A betrayal transpires.
A seal is pierced against a tree.
In 20th century Tokyo, Kagome Higurashi is pulled down a well.
50 years after the death of the Shikon Priestess, the Shikon Jewel shatters and scatters across the land
In 2XXX, Izuku is interning with Endeavor alongside his friend, Shouto.
As a treat for the winter holiday, Enji takes his family and his son’s friend to Tokyo.
Izuku visits a familiar shrine.
He absently fiddles with the fang on his bracelet.
The well opens up
And he Falls
In
CUE THE GODDAMN MUSIC
Haven’t decided Izuku’s full timeline yet, or the many ways the absence of a Kacchan in the story would change the course of events in Deku’s era from the canon My Hero plot.  Deku going missing for months in the winter of his first year would definitely derail a whole bunch of shit, but that’s what’s happening in this au.  The only thing I'm pretty sure would stay mostly the same is USJ.
Izuku stops wearing the bracelet after his visit to the shrine, but takes it up again when he is accepted into UA.  Somehow, it still fits.
*Also just a misc. note, but the villagers who took in Izuku when he was four were all at least half certain he was demonic in some way due to his unnatural green hair and eyes.  He was such a sweet, earnest kid, though, that they mostly just shrugged and took care of him anyway.  When Izuku gets the chance, he definitely mourns them and pays respects to them in the ruins of Mt. Hakurei.
Physically, Katsuki ages to be around sixteen, approaching seventeen over the course of the century
Anyway
Plot
Katsuki wouldn’t leave Mt Hakurei until around the time Naraku infests it.
Katsuki, transformed into his true form as a black and tan fox with four tails and face markings like a black mask, searches for his mother, who he expected to be there to meet him as soon as the century was complete.
Worryingly, there’s no sign of her.
Naraku, trying to take advantage of a powerful Kitsune practically falling into his lap, approaches Katsuki the same way he did Sesshomaru–with gifts and advice–to turn him against Inuyasha.  Since Katsuki is near Sesshomaru in strength, this might be something Naraku would do, instead of immediately absorbing Katsuki, which is the alternative.
Naraku would probably tell Katsuki about the genocide of the kitsune (an act that in reality was performed by the thunder brothers for their own amusement, as well as by Naraku himself to gather power) and pin the blame on Inuyasha and his allies
Katsuki, being a kitsune, would sense the trickery, and approach the situation with caution.
He’d seek out Inuyasha to try to get a feel for him directly.
Disguised as a normal fox, Katsuki makes a nuisance of himself to a young kitsune boy and his companions, including the half demon inu.
He’d follow the group around, occasionally playing tricks and stealing their food, and cackling his fox laughter at them.
He forms a bond with Shippou, who reminds him a great deal of Izuku, and very sneakily teaches the boy more advanced fox magic.
He’d only reveal his true form upon Izuku’s arrival to Feudal Japan, an event which he sensed in the aching of his fangs as soon as it happened. He would part ways with the group at that point to seek Izuku out.
Due to the bracelet, this, at least, is very simple.
The shenanigans he finds Deku embroiled in when he gets there are anything but.
CUE THE MUSIC AGAIN, BUT DIFFERENT THIS TIME
The overarching quest for these two would be to find Katsuki’s mother, who is a fully realized golden nine tails, aka a being as close to divinity as a demon can get.
Also aka, someone who is VERY HARD TO KILL
And therefore, most definitely not dead
I’m considering giving them a third companion, but I’m on the fence about it, and I’m not sure who it would be anyway?
They travel around with very few leads, but they do end up running into Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Kohga’s groups often, and are willing to join the fight against Naraku with them, due to both personal and altruistic reasons.  Deku is a hero after all.
Oh
And Katsuki and Izuku fall in love
The end.
So yeah! That was a lot of words.  Again, this was just the general direction I want to go with this. I’ve got a lot more to say about actual character dynamics and the ways BkDks presence in the Feudal era would impact what's going on there, but this is already really long so I’ll stop here ^^’  Tell me what you think in the comments or tags.  I really love this AU and want to share it with you guys, so please feel free to ask questions and tell me what you might want to see in this AU too! Kisses!
My hope for the use of Katsuki’s quirk by All Might is some kind of mirror to bkdk vs All Might where Izuku uses the gauntlet. I could also see Katsuki actually giving All Might some of his sweat to power it depending on how much he knew about the plan
The gauntlets (even just one) are so going to happen <3 though the thing with All Might's plan is that no one knew what he had in mind (except Melissa I guess?), so I don't really see what you said happening, if only because I don't think Kacchan would have supported an apparently suicidal mission. But I'm hoping that AM will find out about him before the time to use explosions comes (and that we'll maybe possibly hopefully get a flashback to his reaction to Kacchan's fanboying GREAT EXPLOSION MURDER GOD: DYNAMIGHT somewhere T-T), I really want it to be an emotional moment that will make me cry my eyes out :')
I'm not sure about a callback to the final exam, especially since AM is trying to stay in contact with AFO for as long as possible, while Deku used the gauntlet to allow for them to run away. BUT. AM technically has used both shoot style and blackwhip, but he hasn't called out Deku's name so far, so I'm thinking that we might see other moves of his. A combined Deku/GEMGD attack would be heaven for me personally, but I don't know how it could be feasible tbh. But using their attacks in succession could be an option 👀🤔
dude did I hear that bakus name is.... dyna-might :')
Yes, and I fucking hate it so much xD Honestly when I thought this boy couldn’t be anymore of a nerd. Why are my favorites always the biggest dweebs
Honestly I think it’s the spelling that gets to me,  dynamite would’ve been a bit of a let down but I would of enjoyed it more than the whole all might homage. Though that’s a bit of my personal bias towards disliking hero idolization culture tbh. I also lowkey hate All Might as a character too so oops
I love he still refused to get rid of explosion murder tho lmao
