"I'm worried about controversial stuff coming up about this ship opinion situation, but here we go-"
"I dislike Toppat Henry x Charles/ Henry x Toppat Charles, especially that second one. The artwork I see of it (especially Toppat Charles x Henry, not so much on the other option) leans into toxic relationships for me and I dislike it heavily."
"As much as I love Henrles (tied with Polythreat for me), that situation of "Enemies to lovers" is the one type of Henrles ship that just.. turns me the wrong way unfortunately.." submitted by anon

!!Rant incoming!! Because I truly think I’ve never seen something quite like this thing some people in the tag have with Mike Wheeler!
Mike expresses his insecurities about being worthless and not good at anything and Will builds him back up by telling him that he’s an inspiration to the party, that he’s their leader and therefore essential and important to every mission, that he’s the heart that holds the whole team together. Which is all true! Mike has an extremely distorted perception of himself and Will helps him too see who he actually is!
And what do the people in the fandom do? Make posts left and right about how “Omg Mike is only the heart for Will but Will is actually the heart of the party”, “Will sees Mike as a knight in shining armor while Mike actually holds a candle stick”, “Mike is not a knight, he’s the damsel in distress”, “Mike can’t fight for himself but that’s okay because Will is gonna save him”, “Mike needs to use his brain for once”, “Mike is incompetent”, “Mike wouldn’t be able to use a sword” “Mike wouldn’t be able to use a gun” “Mike can’t win a fight” etc. totally flipping it all around and creating this false narrative were Will is the one with the distorted perception of who Mike actually is!! YOU COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT!!
In all of those polls that get created Mike always ends up being the butt of the joke because “Mike isn’t as muscular as Will so of course Will is better than him at absolutely everything”, “Mike is too dumb to be good at that”, “Mike is super clumsy so he can’t do that”. Or fanfictions where “Mike doesn’t know his way around Hawkins”, “Mike has no common knowledge”, “Will has to do everything for Mike because he can’t do anything on his own”. Which of course goes hand in hand with depicting Will as perfect as well as assigning all the “positive” attributes to Will while assigning the “negative” ones to Mike. And back to the polls, literally the only polls in which Mike wins are the ones where the question is who of the party members is most likely to be, like or do something and it’s either related to falling down or it’s a gay stereotype!! [which is a whole other problem!]
This general perception of the characters that has somehow formed, in which Mike is this total “cringe fail loser” who’s clumsy and stupid and needs everything to be told, who can’t do anything right and gets villainized for his oh so many mistakes, while Will is super over confident and cool, above average at every single thing he does and is always chill and doesn’t do anything wrong, is incredibly bizarre to me. THIS IS NOT AT ALL WHO THESE TWO ARE!!!! And the thing is, one of the many great things about byler is that Mike and Will are equals and treat each other as such!! Turning around and making Will stand above Mike totally ruins a big part of what makes this ship so good!!
And it’s just especially frustrating with Mike, not only because people totally undermine who he is and what he’s capable of, but also because we have this scene of him opening up about feeling useless, worthless and overall like he can’t do anything right! We have this in the show!!! And Will gives him a truly wonderful, emotional, heartbreaking love confession in response to build him back up! The point Will made is: “This is who you are, Mike, and that’s why I love you so much!”, and not: “I love you so much and that’s why I see you this way”!!!! As I said, if you honestly believe that Will is the one with a distorted perception of Mike, and not Mike, then you completely missed the point! And quite literally, you too have a distorted perception of Mike Wheeler as a character!
Again, I’ve truly never seen something quite like this!! Mike expressing that he feels like he’s worthless, Will proving to him that he’s not, and the fandom turning around and going: “Well actually, Mike is worthless and everything Will said about him is only how he sees him.”
And all this while Mike Wheeler is canonically super intelligent and capable, solving problems left and right, coming up with the best plans every season and always ready to fight!!! Everything Will said about Mike is objectively true! He is a an exceptional leader! He is inspiring to everyone in the party! He is getting and holding the whole team together! This is all canon!!!
But I guess some of y’all are watching a different show….
Of course I’m well aware of the fact that everyone interprets and sees characters differently and has their own headcanons. But in this case people are completely disregarding what is explicitly and obviously shown about the character in canon to push a worse fanon version!! People are making the most bizarre and out of character statements about Mike Wheeler and the whole tag will applause them that the takes are so in character, even though they’re clearly not! They quite literally mostly directly contradict with what we know about the character in canon!! And somehow there are still people who think the show is gonna pick up on the made up version!! This widely accepted misinterpretation of Mike’s character is insane to me because people actually think that it’s canon even though it pretty obviously is not! It’s incredibly bizarre, especially because the fanon version is clearly so so so much worse than the real, canon Mike Wheeler!!
And it’s so ironic seeing this happen so much in the byler tag specifically because we are supposed to be the ones on Mike’s team! We’re the ones criticizing melvins and the ga for undermining Mike’s character, all while there are some of you who do the exact same thing.

Can I get something on the JoanFK tag that ISN'T just complaining? It is ok to be feeling shit that things went badly in the show, but do you have to tag that negativity on the ship? The negativity is all that there is to see whenever I try to interact with the show and it's making me feel horrible.
I've been in far worse fandoms, and they didn't make me feel this bad.
It all feels so puritanical, like you have forgotten what a teen drama parody entails. Did you forget that they were ALL assholes in the first season who backstabbed and did shitty things to eachother for their own selfish gain? You are applying pretty strict rules of morality onto characters who intrinsically must break those rules to allow the narratives of their genre to move.
This was a short kiss, the result of feelings that JFK and Harriet had actively been trying to avoid for the sake of Joan. This could have been resolved by open communication, but that's not how either drama shows OR stupid hormonal teens work. After making this mistake, they did the most responsible and moral thing they could have and confessed it literally within the same episode as soon as Joan would not, you know, DIE as a result.
All things considered, it wasn't a secret relationship, it wasn't sex, it wasn't a long term secret held until it accidentally spills out and ruins everything. It could have been SO much worse, it was none of my worst fears, and I'm honestly relieved a kiss was where it stopped. And I am also really glad they confessed to quickly because I HATE liar revealed plots more than ANYTHING and I probably would have stopped watching. If they were going to do this plotline it was the best case scenario for me.
And do you know what is even better? What should be the bare minimum but is actually pretty rare in dramas from my experience? Neither of them tried to mitigate Joan's reaction, to say she was overreacting or to dance around the issue to make it sound better beyond a truthful 'we felt nothing'. Joan was allowed the space to fully process the information and her emotions, even if through a montage. And damn I wish I saw that more often.
As for those saying JFK would need a redemption for what he has done- does being open and honest about his wrongdoings not do that pretty succinctly? Beyond having not done it at all what else do you want? Pretty puritanical to want him to suffer before he can be forgiven.
And granted, Harriet got plenty of unjustified hate before she had even done anything, but post-kiss most of the discussion and anger I have seen has been directed solely at JFK. Harriet was part of that kiss too, knowingly going against her friend. Why is the romantic relationship deemed worse to betray? Both of them did a stupid thing together, and fixed it together.
And I'm not saying Joan putting all the consequence on Abe is justified, he didn't do shit wrong either, he tried to keep his friend alive in a tricky situation.
All of your feelings are valid, and I do see why the dominant opinion is what it is. Cheating is an awful thing to do and you should not be with someone you do not trust, I cannot refute that.
Yet at the same time, I felt it was important to put forward some differing points that I had been having. This show will not be enjoyable if we hold a position of being negative and moralistic. To some extent there has to be an acceptance that this is a fiction and moral failings are often part of a narrative structure.
(And while many of you have legitimate critiques on the execution of the show, it feels like some of you are taking the 'thing done badly because I don't like it' route)
I really hope nobody takes this as me trying to enforce cheating or to say that JFK and Harriet kissing was ok. It was shitty of them to do in the first place, but they are not morally irredeemable. Teen do stupid bad thing is not new. I'm also not interested in having an argument over this, I get caught up far too easily in that so I won't be answering any replies or asks. It is fine if you disagree, I'm here to propose a counterpoint.
Sorry if this was repetitive or lengthy. It just felt like I had to get it out there despite it being the early hours of the morning.

𝕊𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕪 𝕂𝕚𝕕𝕤 𝕒𝕤 𝔽𝕝𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣 𝕃𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕦𝕒𝕘𝕖𝕤
♩ gn!reader, fluff, softness I guess, flowers and their meanings, romance?
♩♩ word count: 1.2k
♩♩♩ A/N: this one took me a while to write but it's here~ also I'm no flower expert so don't expect me to get everything right >-<
Tumblr media
Chan- Violet (Blue) I'll Always Be There
I must admit that I chose the blue violets for Chan mainly because of its flower language.
Words like "I will always be here", "I will never leave" and "You can always rely on me" all remind me of that strong yet sensitive person.
Chan loved to be a strong person in front of you and wanted to show you all his good sides.
Just like Blue, he is a gentle and unassertive person who isn't self-centered and is always making sacrifices.
But don't take advantage of his personality just because you know how it is. He is actually a very sensitive and caring person who needs other people too.
Sometimes, you need to reach out with your arms wide open and tell him "I'm gonna be here for you too, I'm not going to leave you, you can always rely on me."
That way, your love will grow stronger and deeper.
Tumblr media
Minho- Forget-Me-Not True Love
Forget-me-nots are colorful, and each color has a different flower language, but the one I found that reminded me most of Minho was simply "true love".
Minho's personality makes it difficult for him to show his care and love in a straightforward manner.
But because of this, if he is willing to show his soft and kind side to you, then he must really love you.
He would worry about whether you would leave him due to him not being straightforward enough, unlike "other boyfriends".
Did he say "I love you" enough times to you? Does he give you enough kisses and hugs? Did he say anything that made you feel uncomfortable?
These questions confuse him, and that's when you need to help keep his thoughts at bay.
After all, "I love you" is only true when it comes from the heart.
Tumblr media
Changbin- Lily of the Valley You've Made My Life Complete
The moment I saw these flowers, I thought of Binnie.
(Yes, I can't deny it, as these flowers are so lovely and mini.)
I don't think I need to repeat the fact that Changbin is a soft guy.
Although he looks like a giant boar (?) He is actually a soft and cute teddy bear with a good personality and very attractive.
"You've made my life complete" is the most romantic confession Changbin believes exists, even more so than "I love you".
This is also what he said to you when he confessed his love.
He held your hand and looked at you with sincere eyes, biting his lips a little nervously before shouting in the iconic Changbin voice.
These are also the words he wants you to say to him, he very much hopes to be part of the perfection of your life.
Like two pieces of a puzzle that fit together so perfectly.
Tumblr media
Hyunjin- Champagne Rose To Love You is the Greatest Happiness of My Life
Champagne roses are as noble and beautiful as Hyunjin and always manage to be the center of everyone's vision.
Many would consider Hyunjin to be more like red roses, but I think champagne roses fit better.
Red roses are aggressive, but Hyunjin has a softer beauty to it than the more assertive beauty that all roses have.
The flower language of champagne roses is "to love you is the greatest happiness of my life". I have stressed many times that he is a hopeless romantic, and this flower language suits him perfectly.
All of his feelings are intense, whether positive or negative. He can't hide neither his love nor his hatred for others, and will give his best when he does.
For Hyunjin, falling in love with you is his greatest happiness in this life, missing you is his dearest pain, being with you is his source of pleasure, and without you he feels like a ship that has lost its course.
Tumblr media
Jisung- Jonquil Desire for Affection Returned
Jisung's need for intimacy is no less than Felix, but he isn't initiating to everyone, he would prefer you to initiate intimate contact with him.
This is one of the big reasons I chose Jonquil flowers.
Like Jonquils, Jisung gives a cute but tough feeling.
"Desire for affection returned" is also understood as what he wants to say to you but fails to.
He wants to be close to you but is afraid you will find him annoying, yet he can't stop wanting you.
A very close type of flower to Jonquils are called Daffodils, its flower language being "the sun is always shining when I'm with you". This language also matches Jisung's personality.
Jisung is very shy with strangers and might even get anxious.
But when he's with someone he knows, you in particular, he's your little sunshine, always putting a smile on your face and the faces of those around him.
Tumblr media
Felix- Sunflower Unwavering Faith and Unconditional Love
Felix as sunflowers was probably the easiest choice, it simply couldn't have been any other way.
His whole being is like a sunflower, facing the sun, always smiling and warming others.
He is the sunflower, and you are his sun. You are the center of the universe for him, indispensable.
When you're around, there is no one else in his eyes. Others, or the world, are immediately overshadowed by your presence.
He does not want to hide his love for you, nor does he know how to hide it. He just wants to tell you every second how much he loves and cherishes you.
But when the sun ceases to shine, the sunflower drops its head down and becomes lifeless.
So if you want your sunflower to smile happily all the time, then please be by his side all the time.
Tumblr media
Seungmin- Carnation (Red) My Heart Aches For You
I actually think Seungmin is more suitable for lighter colored flowers, but I really like the red carnation's flower language.
I don't know if it's because Seungmin gives off college student vibes, or is it just because of his whole feeling, but I always think he matches up well with the unrequited love trope. (Definitely not because I'm a sucker for angst)
He thinks hard, and puts a lot of thought into choosing flowers for you, whether it's for a confession, a date or a proposal.
And naturally, when choosing a bouquet, he takes the time to look up the language of each flower with great effort. Even though you may not realize what he intends to do.
He isn't the type to say "my heart aches for you" out loud, but he will send you red carnations and then look at you with big, puppy-like eyes.
His eyes filled with love, but when you ask him what it means, he says nothing to you.
Like a lovestruck puppy, he doesn't know exactly what "love" is, but he knows that his feelings for you must be special, feelings he doesn't have for anyone else.
Tumblr media
Jeongin- Gloxinia Love at First Sight
If Seungmin has a little bit of courage and knows that he can express his feelings to you by sending you flowers, Jeongin truly knows nothing.
The first time he saw you, he felt a pounding heart.
Maybe it's the scent of you, or maybe it's because of a small gesture of yours, his eyes keep lingering on you, unable to and unwilling to move away.
"Love at first sight", is what they always say, right?
Just like the petals of Gloxinia flowers, his feelings for you slowly extend outward from the center.
He was originally pure white, a blank slate, and only after meeting you did he slowly began to show other colors.
Your existence left such a strong trace in his life that it could never be erased.

OK OK OK OK OK
I finally finished Good Omens season 2 and I have so many fucking thoughts which I will list in no particular order:
The Doctor Who references are always golden. (somewhat related: that part when Crowley was bullshitting about war regulations in front of Shax & co in the bookshop? super reminiscent of Ten’s speedy sci-fi jargon)
The music, as always, fucking slaps, especially at the end of each episode when the theme is played in a related style I love it so much
Nina and Maggie!!! I do really like them as a ship (coffee shop + record shop? that’s a built-in au fic) but I also like how they’re not actually together at the end. I love how they’re so healthy in how they go about their potential relationship, both acknowledging how messed up it was for Aziraphale/Crowley to meddle with their lives and how dumb it would be to rush into something headfirst regardless of all the shit they had been through both togther and as individuals. Also Fuck Lindsay all my homies hate Lindsay, as much as I liked what they did with visualising her shitty messages (the blackboard and crumpled notepad sheets? because of coffee shop reasons and how Nina’s work and love life was suffocatingly forced together by the incessant behest of Lindsay)
<The dancing/ball/Jane Austen vibes3
Beezelbub and Gabriel!?!? When I first came across this ship on ao3 I thought this ship made somewhat sense but would stay in the realms of fanon yet here I am disproven and I can’t lie… they’re kinda cute together. I was caught off guard (like every other character) but fair dues to them. Their parallels with the ineffable husbands are just ughh *chef’s kiss*
^alpha centauri!!!^
Peter Davison and Ty Tennant??? Their appearances did make me giggle for meta’s sake. Perhaps a Georgia Tennant appearance in season 3? (if they make it please please please say they’ll make it)
WAS CROWLEY ACTUALLY RAPHAEL??? I thought it was just a headcanon/fan theory (which I did fall in love with after watching this beautiful animatic years ago) but Crowley having access to classified files and the Metatron mentioning that an archangel being cast out has happened before??? it’s becoming more and more plausible.
AND JUST PRE-FALL CROWLEY IN GENERAL HE LOOKS SO HAPPY all he ever did was ask valid questions goddamnit (literally). nebulae are very pretty I would also be indignant if they weren’t gonna stick around for long. AND THE PARALLEL TO THE FIRST EPISODE WITH THE WINGSSS
Crowley just being a good nice decent person all throughout time (the goats, children, helping out elspeth, ect) it makes me happy
ANDD Aziraphale’s reactions (both positive and negative) to aforementioned deeds create a great moral foil to Crowley and perfectly builds up to what we see at the end (I’ll probably write about s2 Aziraphale in a different post because man I have so many thoughts)
Crowley’s callbacks to the date lunch at the Ritz!! Him talking to Nina and Maggie about taking Aziraphale to the Ritz again to him pointing out the lack of a nightingale (idk if that was leaning into meta a little but it didn’t bother me) just HURT so damn much
“Emotional damage support angel” you’re damn right he is/was
The battery-powered candles lmfaooo and literally any reference to the fire, including the absurd number of fire extinguishers, had me giggling
Muriel is a goddamned (or not so in some sense) treasure, a little ray of sunshine with a heart of gold and dumb of ass. I adore her and found Aziraphale and Crowley humouring her hilarious.
THE SECOND COMING??? I’m sorry wHAT WE ALREADY HAD THE ANTICHRIST NOW WE’RE DEALING WITH CHRIST CHRIST? YOU CAN’T LEAVE US WITH JUST THAT MR. GAIMAN
and of course the bloody
K I S S
THAT WHOLE SEQUENCE OF CROWLEY FINALLY FINALLY OPENING UP AND JUST BEING WHOLEHEARTEDLY HONEST (going against his predisposition and entire NATURE to lie/omit or walk around the truth)
CONFESSING HIS TRUE FEELING AFTER COUNTLESS MILLENNIA OF PINING EVEN AFTER AZIRAPHALE DROPPED THAT BOMBSHELL
AND HALF STORMING OFF BEFORE GOING BACK TO KISS THE SHIT OUT OF HIM AND THEN FULLY STORMING OFF
with aziraphale clearly unsure of how to react BUT STILL TOUCHES HIS LIPS IN SHOCK AS HE WATCHES CROWLEY LEAVE
That shit had me fully standing up on the sofa, arms in brace position, gasping, screaming, close to tears, indignantly repeating “NEIL GAIMAN!” every couple of seconds
Tumblr media
Truly a brilliant scene and a brilliant season overall.
As always the cast, the writers, the set designers, the effects artists, the costumers, the camera crew, everyone who had a part in creating go2 was fucking fantastic.

and okay okay okay i know you said you're done, i KNOW. but i've been discussing this with my friend and your post about how to rethink the kraken era and i think you could probably still do the leg with that if you made it, weirdly, more historically accurate? like. as far as we're aware, the real life israel hands was shot by accident when blackbeard meant to shoot someone else. that's why when he asked "why the fuck did you just do that" he got the nonanswer of "if i didn't they'd forget who i am"--because teach didn't actually have a reason to shoot hands, it was a mistake. you could absolutely keep izzy losing the leg as ed's darkest moment in a friendly fire situation--up until then he's targeting other people and is mostly mopey and neglectful and just not really a fun boss to the crew without being outright abusive, and then izzy gets shot by accident while ed is wildly ignoring gun safety and waving a pistol around on deck or something and ed. or izzy says "we shouldn't attack this ship, that's a terrible idea" and loses the leg during the attack, thus making it more indirectly ed's fault while still kind of being enough of ed's fault to make the plot go forward. either of those would be much more compatible with a "sorryboutyourleg" apology if you kept that or with izzy just brushing it off and moving on because he's knd of fucked up like that, because he could very easily compartmentalize that as not ed's fault. you could even get some interesting plot out of "izzy insisting it's not ed's fault and ed wanting to take that and just leave it be and also not being totally willing to do that because he does still recognize that it is in fact his fault"
(Post being referenced)
Yeah, an accident was one of the scenarios I was thinking could work if you really wanted to keep Izzy losing his leg in the story without having to deal with the fallout of it as something that Edward chose to do. Which has positives and negatives. It is easier and in-character for them to brush it into the past, as you point out, which might reduce the impact of it in the Edward-Izzy relationship. But the Crew-Izzy relationship using his leg as a point for them to all gather around and support was pretty well liked as an arc. Good addition of disabled rep, or bad look majorly disabling the S1 antagonist with "karmic" bad luck in what's still a romcom to everyone else? Things to consider.
Alternatively, Izzy lost his toe in S1 because that was Edward's response to getting pulled out of his hardcore denial/depression phase of Stede-grief. It sorta seemed like shooting Izzy's leg in S2 was an echo of that - what with it being prompted by Izzy confessing his love AND bringing up Stede again - but with everything else going on it didn't really hit like a true snap so much as an inevitability where Edward was waiting for an excuse. I do wonder if, in reframing Kraken Era a step to the left (no crew abuse / active pursuit of dying by mutiny) but still fundamentally as another form of avoidance via 100% focus on externalizing his pain without addressing it, that action as part of an actual "pressure has been building and finally snapped" point could still work?
It would probably need to be a real fight between them - something built up to where Izzy decides they need to yank down the curtains and address that thing they aren't talking about and damn the consequences, because the situation has become untenable for some reason. Maybe it is Edward spiraling into suicidality for real? Idk. I haven't actually figured it out, but I do think you could potentially go that way and have Izzy lose his leg due to a completely in-the-moment action that spurs whatever rock bottom moment Edward goes through in a way that doesn't feel like a premeditated strike or part of a pattern of abuse that we need to worry about repeating in less fraught circumstances. It would probably depend on how exactly Edward's mindset was framed, and there would be pitfalls to watch out for re: POC and abuse (and just sympathetic romance protagonists and abuse). Like my first instinct would be that Edward should probably pull the trigger for a reason that makes sense with something he's trying to do (even if that goal is clearly a mental health spiral like killing himself), not just to hurt Izzy. Again, things to consider both at a character level - how is this reflecting on Edward's characterization / arc? - and on a broader story level - what will this take to resolve and will it be worth the genre shift required?
I really just can't say for sure, other than, like, general writing advice, don't include limb loss as a character beat unless you have worked through the big implications of that with all characters involved? 🤷‍♀️ Which I do not think the S2 that we were given did.
And I guess dealer's choice for fix-it fics?

is catradora a toxic ship? my opinion that no asked for :)
TW: discussion of toxicity, abusive relationships and trauma; pls take care of yourself :)
Hey snails,
I started rewatching She-ra and the Princesses of Power for the third time recently, so suffice to say I am a big fan. The ship catradora, which is the ship name for characters Adora and Catra in case you don’t know, is honestly very important to me as a lesbian. Calling a ship from a show ‘important’ may sound dramatic to some of you, but it’s the truth. I was just coming into my identity as a lesbian when I watched the show because I heard it had good queer representation. Catra and Adora’s relationship was one of the first relationships between two queer women that I’d seen in media which was actually written by a queer person, and it meant so much to me as a baby gay. I’m not even a particularly emotional person when it comes to the media I watch, so it surprised me when I got emotional watching their love confession scene for the first time. It was and still means a lot to me that ND Stevenson and everyone behind She-ra worked so hard to get representation in the show, and I’ll forever be grateful to them for doing so.
Now that I’m watching the show for the third time, however, I’m starting to view their relationship more critically. Perhaps due to me being older and more comfortable in my queer identity, along with seeing discussions of their relationship online. It is an unfortunate truth that Catra treats Adora like shit for most of the show. She is an undoubtedly toxic person, and that brings into question whether, after everything she’s done, she deserves Adora. I’m going to provide my own opinions on this discussion and analyse whether catradora is a toxic relationship. To do so, I’m going to split this discussion into three main categories - what makes a relationship toxic? What toxic behaviours are present between Catra and Adora? And, lastly, is catradora a toxic ship overall?
Firstly, what makes a relationship toxic in the first place? In my research, I found a quotation from an article by verywellmind.com (Toxic Relationships: Signs, Types, and How to Cope (verywellmind.com) which I feel sums it up quite well: ‘A relationship is toxic when your well-being is threatened in some way - emotionally, psychologically, and even physically’. A toxic relationship will provide more negativity than positivity to your life and well-being. A person in a toxic relationship may question why they even involved themselves with that person in the first place, but simultaneously find it difficult to let go of them due to happy memories shared and the manipulation tactics employed by the toxic person to keep the other person trapped in the relationship.
Common traits of a toxic relationship are gaslighting (making someone doubt their own thoughts and experiences), victim blaming, isolating the person from their loved ones, constant arguing - and having to walk on eggshells around them as a result, controlling behaviour and generally feeling bad after being around the toxic person for an extended period of time.
So, which of these signs of a toxic relationship are present between Catra and Adora, and how persistent are they throughout the five seasons? Catra is obviously the main person perpetrating most of these behaviours. She blames Adora for abandoning her and ruining their friendship despite Adora offering to bring Catra with her. In other words, Catra guilt trips her. She acts as if Adora was in the wrong for wanting to leave the Horde despite it being very understandable why she’d do so. This isn’t just a heat-of-the-moment reaction as well, as she continues to blame Adora for ‘abandoning’ her even after being given multiple chances to join Adora. There’s the more obvious abuse that takes place while they’re enemies, with Catra insulting Adora, physically hurting and trying to murder her - just casual stuff. She also attempts to separate Adora from her friends from the very beginning - trying to isolate her to make her more vulnerable and easy to manipulate. Catra guilt trips Adora and blames her for issues Catra caused; she belittles Adora constantly; and is generally a very manipulative person, not just to Adora but to other characters such as Entrapta who she’s meant to be friends with.
Of course, there is the elephant in the room that needs to be discussed, that being Catra and Adora’s shared trauma—due to Shadow Weaver treating Adora as the golden child who can do no wrong and Catra being the one who gets the blame for every mistake pinned on her. As a result, Adora has a saviour complex and Catra is starved for affection and validation, taking much of her anger out on the ‘perfect’ Adora who always received the favour from Shadow Weaver that Catra wanted. This makes her staying with the Horde more understandable. She wanted to prove herself to Shadow Weaver and perhaps saw Adora being gone as the perfect opportunity to do so. It can also provide an explanation for some of her toxic behaviour later on in the series, as it becomes clear that Catra is simply repeating the abusive behaviour she was subjected to her by her only mother figure as a child. It should not, however, excuse this behaviour completely, because even if her actions are understandable given the circumstances it doesn’t magically make everything she did to Adora okay. She treated Adora terribly and Adora is in her full rights to not forgive Catra if she wants to. But as anyone who has watched the show knows, she does forgive Catra in the end. So one must ask… was Catra’s redemption deserved?
In my opinion, as much as this ship means to me, Catradora is indeed toxic for most of the show. I believe the way Catra’s redemption arc was handled was the main issue. She stays a consistently bad person for all four seasons, showing a lack of a moral compass from the first episode. While the show does a great job making the audience pity her by showing her trauma involving Shadow Weaver, thus giving us insight into why she acts the way she does, it doesn’t necessarily mean she deserves redemption. She doesn’t show much sign that she’ll become good and join the rebellion until season five, where the switch happens very suddenly, and then they’re confessing their love for each other even more suddenly. Personally, if my old friend had been on the opposite side of a war and attempted to kill me multiple times, just to pull a 180 and say they’d always loved me, I think I’d have a hard time believing them.
If I were to rewrite their relationship to make a redemption arc work, I think dedicating more time to Catra’s redemption arc would be beneficial. This could create more interesting dynamics between the characters as Catra works with the rebellion and slowly gains their trust, building a healthy relationship with Adora and working through their issues, so that by the time they’re getting together they’re both at points in their lives where they’ve healed from their shared trauma and are ready for a relationship. I do acknowledge that to some extent the show did this, but I believe it needed more time to truly redeem Catra as it rushed through her arc too quickly. Making Catra less murdery would also be a good idea in my opinion, since attempting to murder your significant other is a pretty hard thing to come back from. Or Catra could at least show some remorse and regret about it - it would still be bad, don’t get me wrong, but there could be a tragic element to it if Catra felt like she was forced to hurt Adora because of their circumstances and showed a lot of angsty regret while doing so. More signs that Catra still cares for Adora would be good, like in season 1 episode 9 where Catra begrudgingly delivers the sword to Adora and tells her to leave, helping her escape the Horde. More moments like this could show Catra’s love for Adora in a very in-character way and remind the audience that these two were actually very close at one point, thus making their reunion more satisfying. Lastly, after everything Catra has done I don’t think Adora should be required to forgive her. Although, it is a show primarily for children so I understand why they did have her do so as they wanted a happy ending.
Overall, I believe catradora could have been written better. Now that I’ve done research into both sides of this argument, I understand why people argue catradora is a toxic ship and to a certain extent, I agree with them. I don’t think this ship is beyond redemption, and neither is Catra, but Catra’s redemption arc could use some rewriting to make that happen. In other words, Catra should be more like Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, rather than Azula, to who Catra is strikingly similar for most of the series. I will leave it at that. If you know, you know ;)
Thanks for reading :D

My headcanon for Maki's sexuality and Danganronpa's "everyone's bisexual" problem
okay, but the fact I'm pretty sure Maki's LHS is about that friend (she tells Shuichi she used to play family with that friend and then in LHS she's like "we used to play family and we promised to become one when we grow up")
like, I'm fully Maki is a lesbian team, she played dad in their family, there's no heterosexual explanation, Kaito is just comphet
Ves: with the way she talks abt him, as a representation of what she's always wanted - to be "normal" - i think it's a fair reading!!
omg, you're a guy and you're being pushy with me, demanding I meet your idea of what a girl should be, what if I took that chance to emulate heterosexuality like I think I am supposed to as you're reaffirming that world-view
"you're the first person that made me feel this way", girl you were coerced into every situation where you were spending time with him and never said a positive thing about him, what kinda way you're talking about
she was shown being protective of him in the later stages but never saying something good about him
token comphet girl to me, following Toko's legacy
Ves: she's definitely sapphic…whether she likes men is hard to decide for me bc of kaito's general aura
Sini: She’s so gay in DRS Her interactions with Kaede and Chiaki?
listen, if you're not willing to see certain things as comphet dr can and will make everyone seem kinda bisexual this is because they make everyone accidentally gay from the beginning and then try to apply as much straightness as they can shove down our throats
salmon mode has a romantic ending for Tenko afaik, so people made cases for her being bi and repressing that side bc of trauma, canon would support that, but I don't, "a nice enough guy can fix her" is literally just another negative lesbian stereotype bc they tried to give her ALL of them
Ves: i have had SO MANY arguments on tumblr trying to explain that 1) tenko is a lesbian 2) tenko is attracted to men 3) this is because the makers of v3 are lesbophobes and her story is about finding a good man to "fix her" like. i feel like it isn't difficult to understand she's not written SUBTLY
Sini: Let’s be real, she’s kind of presented as a lesbian in denial. That’s not what they intended at all, but that’s definitely how it reads to me
[in another conversation] Hina: I'm just making her gay atp
this is a win for lesbian Maki truthers and I will take it, calling her unfortunate thing for Momota comphet is the only way to salvage that mess, the whole thing with her childhood friend and her LHS, and things she told Shuichi all contradict her confession to Momota, she is not in love and this would not be "the first time she felt that way" if she was, and just. immaculate gay energy, not bi, I can believe Tsumugi on her feelings for Momota being in-universe scripted, it was so forced, and she complied with it in a way that had to be pulling strings, just begrudgingly going along with something when her heart is NOT in it
Ves: harumami rights!
one of my fav "this is actually qp now, not doing the sibling dynamic" Amami ships beside amaguji, amamatsu is a bit below, it's the basic default cute option that will be good to see with any dynamic so I don't go for it, seen too much background romantic amamatsu in fics that protag Harukawa fic that seems silly if you judge it by it's cover is doing harumami propaganda to me, I think it's literally titled "ass in an assassin", unless I mistaken it with something else (since I know the title exists, I just hope I associate it with the correct fic)
Ves: ASS IN ASSASSIN IS RLLY GOOD IM PRETTY SURE I HAVEN'T READ IT IN A WHILE BUT I REMEMBER LIKING IT

Continuing the therapy rewatch of mp100 and rewatching the mogami arc knowing what's coming and knowing I already did the anime version once already really helps to like... settle the anxiety enough to actually be able to think through what's happening instead of just nausea and, you know, the emotions.
I always read the world of the mind as Mogami's childhood; not having powers, being bullied, not having a sibling, violent teachers, etc. And while most of that can't be proven either way...
He actually confirms he could see spirits from birth. He had his powers his whole life, the same way Mob was levitating little things in grade school before the Big Stressers kicked in and amplified them to ??? proportions.
Mogami is making up this world. He's taking individuals who yes, are analogous to real people.... But instead of spreading them out with an assortment of different people, he is taking the worst analogies of people and putting them all in the same pot, all at the same time. All the bullies and all the people who would stand by or assist bullying when prompted. All the abusive teachers. All the indifferent peers. No parents, no sibling, no support group.
It's true Mob is lucky/privileged to not have money problems, to not have someone ill who he's supporting. But what Mob does have is a shitton of neurodiversity, a power that reacts to unstable emotions, and God Damn Anxiety. These aren't the same struggles, but they are real ones, in the real world, that he really has to deal with, even if Mogami thinks it's baby shit.
(I guess I'm projecting a bit of anger onto Mogami from all the people who told me to "just wait until you get to the REAL WORLD with REAL PROBLEMS" when like. My brother was dead and I had PTSD over it? I was very frustrated at those people, and Mogami is definitely being one of them. >:\ @ mogami: bitch)
Mogami runs into the very real problem of "needs money" and when his solution of "becomes an assassin" has drawbacks (trauma, his mom being haunted by ghosts) he blames... the people who hired him as an assassin? Or possibly, the victims of his assassinations? He is upset that despite all the money, his mother still dies-- a man who literally does seances for a living should hopefully have a better understanding that eventually that is probably going to happen, no matter the medicine.
When Mob runs into a very real problem of anxiety uncontrollable psychic powers, he finds a professional (R.... Reigen...) and does some coping solutions that have some drawbacks (emotional smothering, strained relationship with ritsu, definitely being underpaid) but he doesn't blame others for it. He doesn't really blame himself either, which im not complaining about, and he does eventually chip away at things over the course of the series.
He builds a support group until when things blow up between him and ritsu, or when he's bullied, or when things are just stressful, he has people who come to help and keep him steering his ship. He has a goals that are attainable (confess to Tsubomi, get buffer), and just... like he says. He interacts with people. He tries to be a positive force in people's lives, or at least not a negative one. He is much stronger than if he'd been on his own.
He has changed.
Mp100 is a story about a kid looking at other people who started like him and saying, "huh. Ain't wanna be like that."

josuke + 3 + 22
Oooh let’s see
3-Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Tbh I can’t think of anything when it comes down to Josuke himself, i do sometimes dislike how canon handles some things when it comes to Josuke’s relationships tho, like the fact Ryohei was killed in episode 2, i kinda wished i’d see more scenes with Josuke and his grandpa :’)
When it comes to Josuke himself tho, I can’t really think of anything, I really love all his character traits, both positive and negative, he’s honestly such an amazing character
———
22-If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
Starting with what i like, literally any fic that focuses on Josuke’s relationship with his mom has a special place in my heart, regardless of what the story is about, as long as it focuses on these two I’m immediately reading that story hdhxhxh
Another thing i like are when fics focus on Josuke’s familial relationships when it comes to his father’s side, LET THE BOI MEET HIS ENTIRE FAM HE DESERVES TO HAVE A BIG SUPPORT SYSTEM!!!!
Also fics that focus on Josuke’s and Jotaro’s relationship, or have them bonding are really heartwarming i love them <3333
Or fics that have Josuke and his friends getting themselves in trouble as per usual
And obviously fics that are the aftermath of Kira are always a nice read, i love me fics that show Josuke’s hospitalization and the mess that comes with it and the recovery after
As for what i dislike, it may come as a surprise, but fics that focus on dates/confessions when it comes to Josuyasu, like don’t get me wrong, i love the ship, literally one of the best ships ever, but as a platonic relationships enjoyer and as a Josuke and Okuyasu are besties truther these kinda fics don’t interest me
Like I’m fine with fics that has Josuyasu, but not the ones that has their romantic relationship as the spotlight of the fic
The problem tho? These are like 85% of fics that focuses on Josuke, so I’m here starving for fics that don’t focus on the ship, i just want Josuke and okuyasu to have wacky adventures together, or fics where their relationship can be read as romantic or platonic, hell fics that have them as an established relationship already and the fic actually focuses on adventures they have or them playing video games or going to Tonio’s or even messing with Rohan, rather than them confessing to each other or going on dates plz I’m fucking starving over here
Other than that, fics that are too occ aren’t my thing, I’m fine with a lil bit occ as I can’t realistically expect a person other than Araki himself to be able to truly write Josuke completely in character, and I humbly think nobody truly can, that includes me, it’s just a matter of can this writer get Josuke to be in character the best they can (which mostly they can actually and they do an amazing job at it <333)

mike's monologue and love giving el the strength to fight back against vecna was a parallel to el gaining strength from remembering her mother's memory and love for her and defeating vecna at the lab scene. i am sorry but how can ppl watch that happen and say that the monologue was a lie and mike secretly has feelings for will is beyond me. bylers have the tendency to reach hard to prove their ship's existence with baseless ''parallels'', but when they see an actual and real parallel on the show they completely disregard it, it is just ridiculous in terms of following the narrative and storylines. also el being 'dependent' on mike is not a good way to read that narrative, the show portrays love and being dependent on it as something positive, not negative. el depending on her mother, and on mike is not a bad thing when the show portrays love as the strongest feeling that gives you strength. so no, i don't think el being dependent on mike was portrayed as a negative thing. she and others characters are portrayed as getting strength from love, will did in s2 and max did in s4 and el did it at the lab and then in s4 with mike giving strength to her.
Ok firstly, I agree that it was a parallel between her mother's love and her use of strong emotions in previous seasons to boost her powers. I'm more of a Byler doubter and that scene is ultimately what holds me back from believing in Byler because it's quite romantic and was the climax of the series, which feels odd if they're intending for Byler to happen. However, I still dislike it and believe they should be together even if I have my doubts that they will (I was thinking about not including this paragraph, but I would like to be honest with people following me however I'll still make pro Byler posts and theories!)
However, disclaimer aside, I still dislike the scene. Personally, I would've preferred Will and Johnathan cheering her on from a familial sense of love because it would've served the same purpose without as many issues. Eleven depending on her loved ones is not the issue; it's Mike needing her to depend on him. Maybe that's not what the writers intended, but he had a scene about how he thought their relationship was over because she didn't need him, was told she secretly did (when it was a really Will) and only then was able to tell her he loved her. It just makes him seem like he's only telling her so he can feel validation - this is an issue for me with Byler as well. Also, and you can disagree, the confession just felt a bit cheesy and cliché to me.
I'm aware this is only one opinion, but I just think the other ships were handled so well and Mlvn has been a bit of a let down to me, especially considering how much I love(d) them in earlier seasons. And I don't think I'm the only one; most people in my life who will never even have heard of Byler are no longer invested in their relationship as it seems cheesy, they're constantly fighting and are outshone by the other couples. For me, the difference is that I genuinely feel like Mike and Eleven could break up and stop loving each other during their fights whereas when Hopper and Joyce or Lucas and Max fight, it just feels like they love each other.
It's nice to hear your perspective and I hope this was balanced and made sense. Thanks for the ask, hope you can understand my pov more.

People that say NaruHina has little development do not paid attention to the Naruto manga are the same kind of people that say Sussaku has development even know the development is almost non-existent. Sasuke and Sakura barely interact with each other in part 1 as anything more than teammates the way Sasuke treats Sakura is just like every other person he doesn't treat us anyone special he doesn't treat her in a way that is different. If Sakura was Sasuke's intended love interest he would treat her differently he would hesitate to harm her in his reunion with her in Shippuden he wouldn't constantly treat her as an annoyance or avoid her in the sequel series. Sasuke and Sakura have barely interacted. There's not one on screen kiss not one moment where Sasuke expresses concern or his affection for Sakura physical or with words none so how is their development for them? Almost all their interactions are negative if people think that's development that's good then I question if they understand how romantic interests work.
Naruto and Hinata in contrast have far more development in both part one and part two ever interaction they have is their relationship progressing. Their first interaction we see on screen Naruto thinks Hinata is weird then when he sees her in the tuning exam he sees her in a different light and then her proud failure speech he blushes something he never did around Sakura ever. Also unlike Sasuke Naruto is very careful how he talks to Hinata or how he treats her which is pretty obvious for a main character they would treat their love interest differently than any other person. Yeah the development is subtle that's because Naruto is not a romance manga but if you look at the sequel series there's more interactions with them as well and it's positive and Naruto and Hinata are the only couple that have confessed their feelings for each other and had a kiss on screen people can whine and moan about oh the last should not have needed to exist to resolve their romance but at least it's more than the banshee and Sasuke ever got and they could go suck it.
NaruSaku and SusSaku are garbage ships that needlessly hate on other ships for the most ridiculous reasons I can go on the non-cannon filler ship Narusaku but that would be it making this too long so I'll just ended at that.
The people who say that didn't pay attention NaruHina actually has a lot of subtle development from the start of the exams all the way to the end. Like when he checked on her in the manga Naruto puts his hand over hers its very hard to tell, but it is there. While during the Pain fight Naruto actively protects and avoids Hinata when he loses it and there are many more subtle moments in their interactions during the manga.
SasuSaku though it is one sided Sasuke sees Sakura as annoyance and while he does treat her as a teammate that is where it end nothing more. The reason their interactions are almost always negative is cause Sakura doesn't mean that much to Sasuke, like he has tried to kill Sakura several times in part 2 with no hesitation yet they want us to think he sees her as someone special.
NaruHina you knew it was going to happen, but with SasuSaku there was always that underlying feeling he may never come back or it just won't happen. As early as part 1 it was obvious and only became more so it went on, by the proud failure speech NaruHina was pretty much set in stone as I think that was when Naruto truly fell for Hinata as his face when she calls him a proud failure the slight blush you can tell he is touched then saying he likes girls like her.
What makes it worse is the amount of filler SP pumped for NaruSaku they even ruined several NaruHina scenes by altering them and then films with it like RTN was advertised as NaruHina and SasuSaku film only for it to be filled with NaruSaku rubbish. Like seriously how nice would it have been if they worked harder to make it possible to fit into the canon timeline and showed NaruHina/MenmHina as well as Hinata getting along with Naruto's family and ended it with say they lose their memories of what happened in the genjutsu world. It could have been a perfect film if they made NaruHina a focus.

Okay, so it's actually Monday, but I was busy yesterday. :D
The still as of yet unnamed sequel to Closer and Closer Still has stagnated a bit during my struggle with an ongoing wasp invasion of my house (check out 'the wasp invasion' tag on my main for more details if you're curious) but there has been progress all the same.
Eobard’s heart was suddenly thudding in his chest too fast. Did Barry know what he’d just said? Just implied about his feelings for the Reverse Flash? Someone… someone he loved…
“Let’s get dinner.” The words just slipped out without permission. “My treat. You’ve had a difficult day.”
Eobard is all worried that Barry will deliberately slow his own progress to keep the Reverse Flash around, but maybe he should be worried about his own resolve to go home should Barry ever confess being in love with Eobard directly.
My Flash Finale Fix-it has also been suffering under the wasp invasion writing-block stress, but it's inching in the direction I want it to go so that's good. It's Westhallen endgame and Barry's not exactly being subtle about his feelings about Eddie. Though Eddie's not connecting the dots yet because he knows a.) Barry's married now and b.) Barry's always been in love with Iris. Just Iris. Right?
And then he asked, "what's the Negative Speed Force?"
Barry's turn to grimace.  "Either it's an artificial Speed Force that Eobard created in the far flung future or it's the Negative pole to the Positive represented by the Speed Force I get my powers from.  And, honestly, the first explanation makes more sense as Eobard's ego talking because he thought he created something that he actually just woke up."
That got a snort of amusement from Eddie.  "When he kidnapped me, he ranted on and on about how I wasn't a scientist or a politician and didn't live up to his expectations.  Sounded like my parents, like my achievements only mattered based on how they reflected on him.  Or them.  I hate to say it, but the ego is a Thawne family trait."
"Skipped you, then," Barry said, gently squeezing Eddie's hand in his.
Barry's been holding Eddie's hand the entire time they've been sitting on the couch in future!Joe's house.
By the time I get to Eddie's PoV, he's a lot calmer about what's going on than canon!Eddie was. He's been dead and it's not like he didn't realize it'd end up being Barry that Iris would most likely move on with in time - Eddie just hadn't expected to suddenly be alive in that future and it's being dropped in the middle of a point in time where he knows neither of them really need him that makes him sad.
I've also been working, on and off again, on the next entry in my Flash Back series. This entry would be set right after the now altered events of Flash Back in S2. In which Barry's memories of the new timeline have filtered in alongside his memories of the original (to him, anyway) timeline.
Eddie's alive now and still engaged to Iris. Ronnie is alive and gone with Stein to join the Legends, which is straining his relationship with Caitlin. But at least they're alive.
“Without me, Eobard Thawne couldn’t exist anymore…” And Barry can see those wheels turning in Eddie’s mind.
So Barry hugged him. Too tight, maybe. “If Eobard dogs my steps for the rest of my life, I don’t care. Not as long as you’re here and safe. You are worth more than you know, Eddie.”
Eddie hugged back, a shaky breath let out against Barry’s shoulder. “Got it,” he promised softly.
I didn't go in to this series intending Westhallen, but... I am a sucker for that ship. I can't guarantee it'll go that way, but the hints of it are there now. (All I really intended was one-sided EoBarry on Eobard's side and Barry recognizing that things between them are really weird for two people who hate each other.)

I was thinking about the interrelationship between “ships” and canon in my own personal taste.
I generally find that I prefer “ships” that have SOME basis in canon.  I do not require the ships themselves to BE canon (and in fact, I sincerely dislike quite a few canon ships), but I generally prefer to choose characters who have some pre-existing interaction - either positive or negative - to build from.
I’m generally not a fan of crossover ships, or weird time travel ships, unless there’s something really compelling that makes me think the characters would vibe well.  (I’ve read a couple of Mandalorian time travel fics that paired Din Djarin with Jaster Mereel, and based on my very limited knowledge of the man, I feel like that could work!  It fits with the underlying theme of Din Djarin as the quintessential ur-Mandalorian.)
As a slasher, at heart, I am not married to a character’s canon sexual orientation.  In my heart, everyone is bi or pan.  Some of them may just not have figured it out yet.
I think there’s a big difference between ships that “have a basis in canon” vs. ships that “will happen in canon” vs. ships that “I want to see happen in canon.”
One of my very guilty pleasure ships, for example, was Rick/Negan in Walking Dead.  If you followed me during my Walking Dead phase, you may recall that I was pretty virulently anti-Negan (or at least anti-Negan apologia).  So the pairing was not one that I would want on the show.  But I did think there was an intriguing, borderline sexual dynamic between the two on the show, that authors have done very well at exploring in fic.  So, as a dark ship, I am/was kind of into it.
My biggest issue with Reylo fans, though, wasn’t that they shipped Reylo, but so many were very aggressive about their ship becoming canon, which is an idea that I find genuinely harmful.  (The actual execution in Rise of Skywalker ended up ambiguous enough that I didn’t mind it as much as I thought I would.  But the versions proposed by the loudest Reylo fans really were just awful )
But now the official story’s done.  There’s no real danger anymore of young girls internalizing the idea (yet again!) that they HAVE to forgive a man who hurt them.  IMO, the potential for harm has passed, Reylos continue to enjoy their ship and I have nothing against that.
I get irked sometimes by accusations of queer-baiting, because most of the time, it seems to translate to “my chosen pairing didn’t happen.”  I’m sorry, but 911 is a show with multiple canon queer characters that have a substantial amount of screentime.  The fact that these two particular hot guys, with a close friendship, aren’t actually fucking is not an example of queer-baiting.  Bad taste on the part of the showrunners, maybe.
I will maybe give Supernatural fans this one though.  I didn’t particularly feel the Destiel vibes throughout what I saw of the show, but that whole confession-sucked away into the void thing, did seem pretty blatant.  (That said, the way they reacted to Misha Collins accidently/incorrectly coming out as bi, as though it would have been somehow invalidated because of “queer-baiting” was just horrid.)
It’s annoying to me because I do worry sometimes that shows will get so fixated on the idea of not queer-baiting (because some fanbases are fucking scary) that they’ll start to avoid showcasing male friendships at all.  I don’t know if there’s any real basis to this fear, but I’ve mentioned before that I think there’s been a considerable decrease in the comfort end of hurt/comfort on television shows in the past ten years or so.  I watch my old DVDs of Stargate Atlantis, and see so many hugs, hand-holding, waiting at bedsides with a smile and soft words, and I realize that I don’t tend to see that in modern television shows anymore.  I don’t know why this changed but I don’t like it.  I feel like television has become a lot colder, a lot more focused on people suffering alone, and that’s really fucking sad to me.
Besides, I tend to like these “queer-baited” pairings too.  Of course I would like t see more explicit canon representation.  But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying canon-adjacent fic that use the pre-existing dialogue and dynamics to spin them in new directions.  It would be spectacular if Trent/Ted became canon in Ted Lasso, but I also appreciate how their complicated relationship has developed in canon, and I love seeing it explored in fics.
I don’t really have a point to this, I guess.  I like canon.  I like shipping.  I like when canon feeds the shippers.  But I don’t need ships to become canon.  And sometimes I wouldn’t want them to.  I can enjoy them anyway.

the archer, soon you’ll get better, miss americana & the heartbreak prince,i forgot that you existed, lover with crhsyijacks? <3..
YAYYY, you chose the one i was thinking of hehehe
The Archer: Has you f/o had a positive or negative relationship with love in the past and how has that affected their relationship with you?
jacks has so many issues w love <3 and it’s so funny bc most of them stem from chrysi herself, in their first life… but yeah, he has issues with believing in real love, and his current interpretation is definitely more of a possessive one—which makes his relationship with chrysi be attempt after attempt of keeping her like a trinket, when she’s actually a whole person. thank god chrysi doesn’t take that shit—she’s forced him to realize that he feels so much safer and relaxed when it’s jst being with each other and taking pleasure in each other’s company <333
Soon You’ll Get Better: How do you and your f/o take care of each other when one of you is sick?
chrysi’s out here, making homemade soup, tucking jacks in w blankets, holding him and running her hands through his hair, reading him books, letting him nap in her arms, running to the store and getting him medication, doing it ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! jacks. doesn’t know what to do <<3 ummm, he holds her :) he’s so good at this, he’s going to get a good grade in nursing chrysi back to health! (he has an f.)
Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince: If you and your f/o ran away together, where would you go?
thinking abt this makes me think of the moulin rouge au… oh no…. hmmm, but i always think of a cute little coastal town! they’d move there + they’d frequent a local bookshop, the local cafe, they’d walk along the beach in the early morning bc jacks got them a beachfront property, theyd go to the lighthouse a lot!!! their house would be two stories, but modest, and chrysi would have so many hanging plants on their balcony (bc of course they have a balcony <3). chrysijacks is soooo northern pacific coastal town coded. all bc i was visiting my friend’s family up north when i confessed that i shipped chrysi w jacks!!!
I Forgot That You Existed: How does your f/o handle being wronged? Do they hold grudges or are they the type who lets everything roll off their back?
NOT WELL!!!!! he probably tries to murder ppl that wrong him. why am i saying maybe? he totally is 💀 he totally HAS. and he holds grudges over the tiniest things.. he remembers his first life and is pissed at azure for nearly scaring him out of that apple tree, even though that was CENTURIES AGO??GET OVER IT, HONEY.
Lover: What is your favorite part of the life you’ve built with your f/o?
chrysi loooooves that she’s domesticated jacks <3 he’s an excellent gift giver + kisser, and like… she likes that their collective fucked-up-ness balances out to a weirdly normal life??? like they both have decided that the fated stuff is too stressful. jacks is happy to be a trophy wife while his gf is working on her work reports at the local cafe <3 he’s her pretty princess!!!

Demiromanticism and how it's affected me (and possibly others)!
This is a bit of a serious post today about Angled Aromanticism/Asexuality and mainly the label Demiromantic.
I Identify as queer. My attraction to people is definitely not heterosexual attraction. I have a preference to females and masculine non-binary people. But mostly it's only aesthetic, alterous attraction, and sometimes sexual attraction. especially if I've only seen them a couple of times, or they're an acquaintance.
The only time I ever experience romantic attraction to somebody is when I have had years of building on a friendship. But personally for me to experience romantic attraction is if I hang out with them or talk to them almost if not every single day.
If we only hang out for a couple of times a month I will not have romantic attraction towards somebody which made me confused in middle school when I fully identified as aromantic. I never felt romantic attraction because I never had that connection with somebody, and nobody would hang out with me almost everyday for years on end.
It took me 3 years of talking/roleplaying platonically everyday to fall in love with my ex. It took me 4 years to fall in love with my current partner, we saw each other pretty much everyday, even if we only interacted for a couple minutes each day.
This has positively and negatively affected my psyche. Especially when I was younger. The stories of falling in love at first sight are not true to me and I'm really heartbroken about that. It made me romance repulsed in middle school.
Demiromanticism isn't just about building an emotional bond for me. I have to interact with my friends on what feels like 24/7 to fall in love. It's like a job to fall in love, and when I am actually in love, i I confuse it for aesthetic/platonic attraction unless they confess to me first.
And when I am in a romantic relationship I obsess over romantic activities with only them and fictional characters because this feeling is so hard to obtain. Also being Aceflux with a hypersexual partner, who really loves sexual attraction, and prefers it over romantic, when I prefer romantic over sexual, really affects me.
And I hate when people say Demiromanticism and Demisexuality are not real or valid labels. This invalidates so many people who identify with these labels and experiences people have. I also despise when people use us as an excuse to ship or sexualize full on aroace people who do not experience romantic or sexual attraction whatsoever.
Yes, aroace people can still date or have sexual intercourse, and me and many others are proof of that. But using our label as an excuse to sexualize and romanticize aroace people who don't date and will not have sex is disgusting.
I feel like polyamorous people who are angled aroace have a hard time too. I'm not fully polyamorous myself (monoflexibe), but it's probably 10x harder for you all.
That's my little rant on this topic. I know there's like a wide variety of angled aroace identities, but I'm talking about my label and my experiences. I do however want to go in depth about other identities in the angled aroace community. Maybe I should start a podcast or continue writing these.
Feel free to write your experiences below in the comments, I'd love to read them all!
Bye <3,
-Glam!
