Summary: The life of Crosshair and Tech in Kamino as cadets has never been easy.

TOMORROW IS A GOOD DAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DIE

Tearing his gaze away from the datapad on his hand displaying the stats of his most recent session in the shooting range, Crosshair scowls at Hunter and Wrecker when the latter asks where the last member of their squad is. The novelty of Tech being the last to return to their bunk quarters every night after a day of endless training is nonexistent.

“I don’t know, but he should be here soon.”

Crosshair doesn’t know to whom Hunter tries to convince more, himself or Wrecker. His tone of voice lacks conviction.

“It’s only ten minutes to curfew,” Wrecker says, glancing at the chrono on the wall. “If he’s caught out of bed, he’ll be in trouble.”

Crosshair leaps off his bunk bed on the top and lands smoothly with a thud next to his batchmates. He takes out of his mouth the toothpick he’s been chewing and says, “Wouldn’t be the first time.”

He prides himself in the nonchalance of his words, not letting anyone know that he also worries about Tech. He has noticed that Tech has been pushing himself harder than ever. Those damned longnecks are demanding of him to learn more and faster, to use his superior intelligence to solve impossible problems. Tech hates disappointing them. Failing means to be subjected to medical tests and experiments to figure out why the flaw occurred and how to improve his abilities.

Crosshair’s comment is received as expected. Hunter gives him a peeved glare. Meanwhile, Wrecker bristles and barks, “Yeah, well, I don’t wanna Tech to be punished for it.”

“Low your voice,” Hunter shushes him when several other cadets look their way from the other side of the barracks.

Crosshair shoots angry darts at the regs, promising retribution if any of them dares to comment on either Wrecker’s loud voice or Tech’s absence. His batchmates might try his patience more often than he’d like, but what Crosshair can’t put up with is the constant bullying that they’re objected to by the standard clones because of their genetic enhancements.

Most of the regs fidget under Crosshair’s glare, some of them get uncomfortable enough to climb on their beds and call it a night. Only a couple are bold and stupid to withstand the heat. They whisper between them, sending sneers at him. Crosshair can imagine what they’re saying. The same insults that he and the rest of his squad hear every day in the mess hall and corridors.

The sad batch.

The defect squad.

Freak droidmeat.

Crosshair tosses the toothpick away with an angry flick of his fingers and starts forward, just to be stopped by Hunter, putting a hand on his shoulder.

“Where are you going?”

Crosshair shrugs off the restraining hand, giving a stony glance at Hunter. “I’m going to find Tech.”

Snowmold covers the ground. At every turn. Every inch. The snow is gone, in the hellscape of Bozeman, for the most part. West is melting, the spring flood (from the insurmountable feet of snow piled high from plowing and other snow “removal” throughout the winter) is coming. In Bozeman it was 65 degrees, in Big Sky it was 54. The slopes are ‘sticky’ according to the skiiers. It’s slush at restaurant, mud at the resort base. It’ll snow again later this week. But ah, soon it will be True Spring. At least by the end of May. In all logic I know it’s snowed on any day in this vast uncultured wasteland from July 4th to mid August to Literally Any Day Any Time Of Year. And I fully expect some snow or mass flooding or earthquake or fires again this year.

#Also my nerves are up in arms because now that my license #is not on hold by CA #and is interlock valid by WA #Imma go F it up by trying again to switch it to MT #because my 2021 break of the law WILL catch me #and it better damn catch me in MT and not WA - difference of continuing to drive and not driving for 3 years #an extra year of things installed in my car or an extra 5 years #I really hate myself but I'm trying #even my treatment counselor thinks it's ridiculous #otherwise my 20s and the next 8 years of my life might as well be over #Maybe they might as well be #sigh #lonely sad scared tired #but I've been good and I'm trying really hard to live and hope and be happy #If my world doesn't end on Friday at the DMV I might already be being promoted at my summer job that hasn't started yet #they have a position that opened up #and dog sitting at my friends I can wash all my summer clothes and switch them out with my winter #And I guess I'll go from there

Some information about our dear Gävle goat <3

It will be finished on friday and have an inauguration ceremony on sunday

The Goat commitee have decided to build it in the same, new place as last year

This means unfortunately that it has higher surveillance as it's located closer to central Gävle and nearby buildings

BUT it's also located nearby the local bars and in my experience getting drunk = desire to burn goat increases by 300%

It was last burnt down in 2021, so a modern burning is far from impossible

Interestingly many of the last few goat-burners have been from outside of town, the consensus seems to be that Gävle citisens don't want the goat to burn and everyone else in the world want arson

The consequenses of burning the goat have become more and more dire. In 2015 a man was charged and had to pay 80 000 SEK, while 2021 year's perpetrator had to pay 109 000 SEK, but also serve 6 months in prison

I cannot stress enough how much Gävle city begs the community to not burn the goat which makes the continual burning even funnier

And lastly, apparently they burn it anyway in a "secret place" when the goat survives, so in my opinion the city would really cash in on having a public burning of the goat on like new years day or something.

It's 2:40AM and I can't sleep

So tag ramble time

#Wooooo talking to myself as usual #I don't know why but there are always just random days where the people I talk to decide to ignore me #Probably for good reason #I wouldn't exactly know after all #It's days like these where I just close Discord completely and continue on with my own stuff #Been trying real hard to focus on fixing wasteland game #Doing a lot of mod merges and stuff #Sometimes you do wanna play something else though #Lately I have been feeling lost on playing games and I think it's because I spent so much time playing stuff in 2020-2021 #Unfortunately it's all I got because I got no other hobbies #Aside from drawing ig #Recently the thing I enjoyed the most was being part of a 100 player block game event for a video #That was probably the most fun I've had playing games in a while #Also my first ever multiplayer experience #Real tired lately just wanna sleep all day #Kinda glad it's Friday #I have one class in a little less than 12 hours which is kinda cringe #But other than that I can basically sleep all day #Also been watching a decade old playthrough of yeehaw wasteland game #<- me avoiding getting this thrown in tags and causing people to yell in my inbox #Should probably sleep #Loneliness sucks but hey #Ain't like I can change that #Screeching into the void is what I do best #Thankfully the person I talk to most randomly decided to unfollow this account so he won't be seeing this #just a note don't expect me to reply to stuff when I've been ignored all day #maybe I am being an annoying bastard but y'know I feel like I'm being ignored so yeehaw

Qatar Weekend - Quali/Friday

Decided to make this a three part series, writing up the Sprint aftermath/Saturday events now and will follow up with Sunday’s race once i know how it goes for him.

Sprint/Saturday Race/Sunday

Summary: Lando’s girlfriend is there for him after a hard quali

Quali was a disaster from beginning to end. Y/n isn’t sure that there’s a single driver that didn’t end up having a time deleted. Some of them were obvious, but what really broke her heart was Lando’s radio on his in lap.

He made top three but it seems like there’s doubts of him keeping it.

Regardless, for now he’s P2.

He gets out the car heading to be weighed but the body language from him speaks for itself and the polite smiles he’s shooting to people is obviously fake.

Then the news comes that Lando already predicted, his P2 lap time was deleted and he walks off from the top three interview. Salt being rubbed in the wound that Oscar is taking his interview spot.

Y/n doesn’t get to see him before he is out doing media but she waits for him to finish it even though she knows he has the debrief to handle. She wants to see him before that.

As soon as he away from the media pen, he spots her and moves to her in a hug.

“I got you, it’s ok.” She whispers feeling him sigh into her neck.

She eventually manages to get him to his drivers room, really just to change for the debrief.

“I can’t believe I fucked up like that.” Lando mutters shaking his head while y/n watches almost feeling helpless.

“Lando, you are one of the best drivers on this grid. Red Bull aren’t publicly begging for you to join the team because they think you’re not worth it.” Y/n tries as he looks at her. The look of defeat in his eyes in devastating. “Do you know how far you’ve come? Just since the start of the season.”

“I’m starting P10 because I couldn’t even keep my car on the track.” Lando states earning a frown.

“I love you, I believe in you and I know I’m not dating a loser. Stop acting like you’ve already finished last in the race. The Sprint is tomorrow, you’re going to go debrief now and you know what you need to do to improve…Oscar lost P3 too. It’s a bad day, not a bad weekend. Just…give yourself a chance. You had one practice and that’s not enough for this track, everyone knows that.”

Lando looks at her paused for a moment before he sighs moving towards her and just hiding his face in her neck.

“I don’t want to go to the debrief. I let them down.”

“You think they believe that? You think for a second they’d lie to you and tell you that you’re doing well when you’re not? You are Lando Norris for fuck sake. You are the best 2019 rookie, you are McLaren’s golden boy and you have an open invitation to join the Red Bull team if you feel like it. Do you not remember that the current world champion had an awful weekend in Singapore? Where you beat him? Or the fact that Lewis, the greatest driver in the sport hasn’t won a race since 2021 after winning races every year of his career from his rookie year? The best drivers have bad days among the good. This is one of your bad days, but it does not make you a bad driver.”

In any other mood, Lando would tell her that she should take up inspirational speeches or public speaking but right now, what he needed to hear was exactly what she said. Because the people Lando aspires to live up to, they do have bad races and bad days.

Charles was in the fight for the title last year and he is notorious for crashing himself into walls.

“Better?” Y/n asks softly making him manage the smallest smile.

“I don’t know what the fuck I’d do without you.”

“Don’t worry. You’ll never have to know.” Y/n promises then gently rubbing his bicep. “You need to change and go to this debrief. I promise, I’ll still be here when you’re done.”

After the debrief Lando went straight to the hotel with y/n and after a shower together, Lando just cuddled into y/n for the rest of the night while she played with his curls and tries to comfort him however he decides he wants to be comforted.

“Do you mean it?” Lando asks suddenly looking up at her with those exotic eyes.

“Do I mean what?”

“That I’ll never have to know what it’s like without you again?”

“Of course I mean it. I need you more than you need me, even if you don’t agree. You’re the best thing in my life, which I won’t apologise for saying.” Y/n smiles as he shifts up enough to kiss her.

“You are the most perfect, amazing thing in my life. I don’t ever want to know what life would be like after you.”

“Well like I said, you’ll never have to know. Mainly because I’m going to outlive your dumbass.” Y/n smiles earning a laugh from him before he returns to resting his head on her chest. “You comfy there?”

“Yeah, I can hear your heart getting faster too.” Lando whispers tracing a finger on her bare skin down to her belly button. “You think I’ll get a race win?”

“I know you will. But we might have to use George to get Max into a wall.”

“If anyone could manage it, it’d be George.” Lando hums in agreement, but she can feel his face changing as he smiles even if she can’t see it. “I don’t think Lewis would do it again.”

“Too much risk.” Y/n concludes on it. “Ready to sleep?”

“Yes. These sprint weekends are too exhausting to be awake and wallowing.”

You’re in the middle of doing your checklist when Spencer walks onto the jet. He looks to the cockpit and sees you there doing your thing. A bright smile etches on his face, and he steps aside to let his coworkers past him so he can talk to you.

“Hey, Y/N.”

“Spencer!” you grin and look at him. “I’m glad you’re here. How has your week been?”

“I finished ten more books. I would have finished more, but I was a bit busy playing chess at the park with the other kids. I also went to the local library and participated in the local science fair. The kids had good ideas but I helped them hone their craft.”

“Sounds like you had it good.”

“It would have been better with you by my side.”

That makes your cheeks heat to which your copilot smirks. You nudge her leg to get her to shut up. She knows of the little crush you have on Spencer ever since meeting him a few years ago. Hearing about his week makes your day tenfold. You’re the main pilot for the BAU for both A and B Teams. A Team is by far your favorite team because it’s the team Spencer’s on.

While you have to focus on flying, there are times when you can take a small break and let your copilot take the reigns. You and Spencer always have something to talk about no matter the subject because as much as it makes your day to hear about his, it makes his day to hear about yours.

However, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows as Penelope likes to put it. Spencer will be one way when you pick him up at the airport but be another way when you get to take him home. The stress of the case will weigh heavily on his shoulders, so you like to do the little things to help him feel better even if you don’t think they’ll help.

Spencer walks onto the plane after the grueling case you took him to, and you notice how his shoulders sag a bit.

“You got this, right?”

“Yeah, I’ll finish the checklist.”

You leave the cockpit and join Spencer’s side in the small kitchen where he’s making himself some coffee.

“Hey, sunshine,” you say to him.

“Hey,” he says and gives you a half-smile.

“I’m not gonna pretend to know what you’re going through, but I think under the circumstances, you’re doing a good job. You’re the strongest person I know.”

Derek smirks when he hears you subtly flirt with him, which Spencer doesn’t pick up on.

“Thanks,” Spencer smiles.

You get back to the cockpit to get ready for take-off. This flight isn’t as long as some of the others so sPencer decides to spend it taking a nap. When the plane lands, you allow the agents to get off first before you and your copilot do. Spencer and Derek are quietly arguing about something as you pass by them, and then you feel someone crash into your back.

“I am so sorry,” Spencer chuckles nervously.

“That’s okay. Did you need something?”

Spencer looks back at Derek who gives him an encouraging nod.

“Would you like to go out with me on Friday? I know a great Indian place.”

“I love Indian food,” you grin.

“So, is that a yes?”

“Yes.”

“Great. Um, here is my number.”

He fumbles with his FBI card that has his personal number on there.

“Great. I’ll call you,” you grin and walk off.

As they say, the rest is history. You and Spencer have been in a loving and stable relationship for a year now, and you fall in love with him every single day. You’re piloting for B Team this week, so Spencer planned something special for you when you return. You told him the date and time at which you would be touching down, and he told you he’d been waiting for you at the pickup area.

When you land, you rush to get your things so you can see Spencer sooner. You step into the pickup area and frown when you don’t see your tall boyfriend. Maybe he’s stuck in traffic or trying to find parking. You wait five minutes and grow concerned. He’s never late.

The irrational part of your brain thinks he’s cheating or that he doesn’t love you anymore even though you absolutely know he’d never hurt you like that. You look at the time when you hear two security guards laughing to your right. They’re looking at someone lying on the bench next to them, and when you walk closer, you see it’s Spencer. He’s so tired that he fell asleep waiting for you on the bench with flowers in his hands.

“Man, I bet he’s whipped,” one of them chuckles as they walk past him.

You walk over to him with a smile on your face and put a hand on his cheek gently.

“Spencer, baby?”

He jumps awake at your touch and looks up at you apologetically.

“Sorry, I fell asleep.”

He hands you the flowers that are slightly squished from his body.

“They’re beautiful,” you chuckle and lean down to kiss him. “Come on, Casanova. Let’s go home and fall asleep to Disney movies.”

“Sounds like a plan,” he grins.

It was also true that, at least 90% of this part of the fandom works with edits of different types of the boys; compilation of parts from a certain video or podcast, edits and even memes.

But there was a small portion that made videos talking about the boys, showing their faces and voices while explaining their content, work and even giving tips on how the triplets themselves could increase their audience or improve their brands.

And Y/N was part of this small portion, having been in the fandom since mid-2021 and not missing any videos of the triplets, she could talk about them for hours on end.

Her biggest hobby was making videos giving ideas for their channel and brands: some brands they could collab with, theme ideas for car videos, topics for podcasts, prints for hoodie sets and t-shirts - both for the triplets' brand and for Fresh Love -, different flavors and themes for Space Camp, and so on.

The girl applied all her love and knowledge to all her videos, editing the backgrounds and explaining her ideas with the smallest details, making them understandable. She had perfect lighting, audio, and set equipment for her work, which made the quality equally good as her content.

Her trademark was her strawberry frappuccino, which she was always drinking every time she turned on her phone camera. Fans joked that her obsession with the drink was like Chris's obsession with Pepsi.

And all that was exactly why fans loved her so much. Y/N had more than 400 thousand followers on her TikTok account and all her videos reached an average of 150 thousand likes, in addition to the many comments saying how smart she was for having those ideas, her kindness in sharing them with the public and even complementing her beauty.

The girl spent hours of her day reading each one of them and interacting with fans as if they were best friends, always being very kind. She laughed her ass off at the comments from people who madly tagged the boys, especially Chris, as it was a well-known fact that he was her favorite - she loved to make that very clear.

Some fans even went so far as to say that if Chris was ever ready to get romantically involved with someone again, they wanted it to be with Y/N. The girl read that type of comment with a huge smile on her face and red cheeks, feeling honored. Although she imagined that the boys would never even notice her, she allowed herself to travel through the world of delusion from time to time.

So it was an understandment to say that she was super surprised when, after waking up on a typical Saturday and picking up her phone for the first time in the day before even getting out of bed - a bad habit of hers -, she saw the notifications in triple the volume of its normal.

She felt dizzy with so much information, trying to find in the midst of so many comments and messages what was really happening.

Finally, after traveling between her TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter for long minutes, she finally found it.

Chris Sturniolo had commented on her last video.

It was Friday, and the triplets had just returned home after finishing recording their new car video that would be posted in a few hours.

Chris was currently lying in his bed, the lights in his room dimmed, and the low noise coming from his phone filling the four walls.

The brunette was just getting ready to take a shower minutes ago, having opened his TikTok and scrolling through his For You for a few minutes, about to take off his clothes used in the filming, when a video of an unknown girl talking about himself caught his attention.

It was very normal to have videos of and about himself on his For You, after all, the hours over the last few years that he spent liking one video or another showed the algorithm that he liked this type of content. Edits and memes of him alone or with his brothers filled his app, and he spent enough time watching, laughing, liking, and, sometimes, reposting some of them.

But it wasn't normal for him to have a completely unknown person talking directly about him, with her face and voice exposed for the world while doing it. And what surprised him most was what she was talking about, that specific video being about different prints and colors that he could use in the next Fresh Love collection.

His blue eyes lingered too long on the girl's face, admiring her features, her sweet voice serving as a melody for his ears.

When Chris dragged his thumb from the right to the left of his screen, entering the girl's profile, he finally noticed her name.

"Y/N." His voice came out in a whisper, enjoying more than necessary how the name slipped off his tongue so easily.

His fingers wandered across the screen, going from one video to another, listening to the ideas carefully - even writing some down on his Notes app -, saving some in a separate folder and browsing the comments, only then realizing that practically all of them were from fans tagging him.

Laughter escaped his lips at some of the jokes the girl made every now and then, while fascination filled his eyes with the effort she put into each idea.

The sound of knocking against his bedroom door startled him, his body jumping as he turned sharply towards the source of it, Matt's head appearing between his door and the frame, his eyebrows furrowed as his eyes traveled around the room briefly.

"You've been listening to this girl for so many hours that I thought she was here with you." Matt commented, opening the door wider and approaching Chris.

The youngest of the triplets rolled his eyes, suppressing the urge to lock his phone screen and keep Y/N all to himself, but she was well known in the fandom and her videos were about him and his brothers, the possibility of her content getting to them as quickly as it got to him was huge.

"It's a girl who appeared on my For You today. She makes videos of ideas for our channel and brands, can you believe it?" Chris looked at Matt as he showed his phone screen with Y/N's profile open. His eyes were wide with fascination, and his lips stretched into an enthusiastic smile.

Matt observed him for a few seconds, noticing his body language and the way he spoke about the girl, it was different from all the other times the boy commented about tiktokers or videos others made about them.

"Send me a video of her, I'll take a look later. Now go upstairs, I bought us something to eat."

Another Monday had arrived, and Y/N was looking for strength in her body to get out of bed and face another start of the week.

The thought that in a few hours, she would have a brand new Sturniolo Triplets podcast was what made her tackle her tasks.

Her eyes traveled to the time on her phone and to her notification bar every 10 minutes, as if she was expecting Nick to release the podcast earlier than usual - it was obvious that that wasn't going to happen.

After last Saturday, where she had woken up to a comment from none other than Christopher Sturniolo, her weekend was complete madness.

She spent hours staring at the little comment as her mind tried to process whether she was actually awake or still asleep and in a very good dream.

"loved the idea! it's noted ;)"

"it's noted"? What did that even mean? Did he actually write down her idea for future use? Should she be prepared to wake up some other day and see that he has launched a new collection with something she suggested in one of her videos?

And what made her go crazy the most was that Chris Sturniolo had seen her face, and not only that, he found her attractive enough and her idea creative enough to watch it until the end.

She spent almost the entire previous two days waiting for him to comment again, or even like one of her videos, but that didn't happen. Instead, Y/N received thousands of comments from fans going crazy with her about what happened. At least she had a good laugh with them.

Now, she was in her bedroom, the light from the movie playing on the TV was the only source of illumination. Y/N was lying in her bed, already in her pajamas and with her pre-bed cup of cappuccino on her lap, keeping her legs warm, her eyes on the television, but her mind somewhere else.

The sound of the YouTube notification came from her phone and Y/N had never moved so quickly, her hand taking the device out of her bedside table and unlocking the screen while muting the television, clicking on it with her thumb without even looking at the other notifications.

Her fingers worked on increasing the volume and screen brightness, setting it to the best resolution and getting comfortable on her bed, preparing to stay in that position for the next hour.

The podcast was already at minute 35, and Y/N felt her cheeks hurting from how much she was laughing at the topics brought up by the boys. Nick was especially funny that day, making Chris and Matt laugh at every moment.

In addition to the senseless fights that would arise between the three of them out of nowhere, which made Y/N roll her eyes playfully, already accustomed to their way with each other.

Until her big smile was replaced by an expression of a mixture of fright and surprise.

"Can we take a moment to talk about the intense crush Chris developed this weekend?" Nick interrupted Matt's laughter, taking a sip of his Doctor Pepper.

Chris turned abruptly to his brother, his eyes wide at the comment as he shook his head, almost begging through telepathy for him not to talk about that.

"It's true, Chris spent the weekend obsessing over a fan of ours who makes videos on TikTok with different ideas for our channel." Matt agreed, looking briefly at Nick while his hands moved the microphone support, pressing his lips together as he tried to suppress his laughter at Chris's reaction.

"Yeah, she is super pretty, and her ideas are very interesting. I think I only saw her profile once, but I listened to all her videos through Chris's phone." Nick continued, raising his right hand and directing his palm towards Chris, pretending to cover his figure with it and ignoring his desperate expression. "He literally spent the entire weekend watching her."

"Her name is Y/N. Search for her guys. We might even use one of her ideas on our next podcast." Matt added, his voice coming out low despite his mouth being almost glued to the microphone.

"You guys are horrible, I hate you." Despite the distance, the camera lens that focused on Chris's image captured his red cheeks as he tried to suppress a smile at the thought of the girl who took over his thoughts, rolling his eyes to his brothers.

"Now he will be silent for the next 10 minutes." Nick continued, amusement in his voice as he picked up his Space Camp watermelon lip balm, playing with the object in his hands.

"He's in love Nick, give him some credit." Matt mocked alongside the oldest triplet, a small smile on his face as his eyes watched his brother's reaction.

"Okay, next topic." Chris interrupted loudly, his voice cracking with embarrassment. He raised his arms and moved them from side to side exasperatedly, earning laughter from the other two, before Nick briefly passed his eyes on the document open on his laptop, starting the next topic.

"Oh my God." Y/N whispered, clicking once on the screen and dragging the small ball in the bottom bar to the left, going back a few minutes of the podcast and rewatching that specific part.

The girl repeated that action at least three more times, her brain still processing that Chris Sturniolo had been watching her TikToks all weekend - as if she were some kind of famous artist - and that, apparently, he was developing a mini crush on her as well.

Her heart was beating too fast to be normal as her cheeks burned, a red tinge taking over her skin. Goosebumps ran through her body as her fingers trembled slightly. Her jaw was already hurting from the time she held her mouth open, but no sound escaped from it.

A notification suddenly appearing at the top of the screen caught her eye, her right hand instantly flying to her mouth while her left hand lowered her phone, resting the device on her mattress.

Her eyes were now fixed on the wall in front of her bed, as her mind screamed at herself.

Never doubt my ability to recommend this show. One of the best live action yaois ever made, with perfectly structured angst, fantastic characters and acting, and no problematic tropes (rare in Japanese BL). The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat there’s still some really cute mutual kisses.

Cherry Magic AKA 30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii

The sweetest fluffiest magical realism BL, packaged as a pinning office romance, very low heat (practically chaste) but the cutest. It’s truly great.

A soft charming warm hug of a show about crushes and mind reading and self worth, with no-fuss execution from a consummate team and an OG lead pair proving why they remain eternal and deserve to grow up. Look, here’s the thing, Cherry Magic is a great Thai BL in its own right not comparing it to any other iteration. But even when I do compare (and I've seen all the Cherries and read the manga) it still stands. I personally like it slightly better than the Japanese live action, but I think that’s because I just really like Thai BL and I LOVE TayNew. Also all the kissing was both present and better than any other iteration. As it should be from Thailand.

I Feel You Linger in the Air

IFYLITA is an exquisite BL, from filming techniques to narrative framework (much like Until We Meet Again). Steeped in history and family drama it edges into lakorn (but no as much as To Sir With Love and with way less scenery chewing). This is an elegant and classy BL... from Thailand which normally doesn't even try for classy. The main couple (both as a pair and individuals) were excellent, particularly Bright (Yai) whose eye-work acting style is a personal favorite of mine. Pity about the ending. Oh it wasn’t that sad but it wasn’t good either. This show could easily have earned a 10/10 from me except that it fumbled the… erm… balls in the final quarter. Argh. Whatever.

Restart After Come Back Home AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de

Japan 2020

Atmospheric study in rural Japan meets complex family dynamics built on a romance framework of city boy meets country boy, grumpy/sunshine. It’s beautiful and icy sweet. Slow moving in places but ultimately worth the patience, low heat, low angst, and stunning.

Boy joins band, falls in love with other boy. The singing is terrible, fast forward through that but with the possible exception of the hair styles, this BL could have been made in 2015 and no one would be surprised. As such, it wasn’t ground breaking, but it didn’t disappoint either.

Make a Wish

Thai 2023

A doctor who can see the dead strikes a bargain with a wish-granting irreverent tree angel - naturally they fall in love (from Sammon: Manner of Death & Triage). Stars Fluke Natouch opposite not Ohm, but who cares because Fluke has chemistry with everybody. Once again the Thai afterlife is incredibly bureaucratic but I enjoyed the premise and the unfolding of the story (it’s not predictable but still satisfying and with nice little twist). I like that the doctor is just gay AF - fag hag bestie and all the swagger. The cast is excellent but the comedic stylings are a bit overblown and tonally off. It had sad parts and did make me cry but is ultimately happy with a great sex scene, good smiley kisses, and all the agency.

2 Moons The Ambassador AKA 2 Moons 3

Thai 2022

A Thai pulp that felt like it came out 5 yrs ago with many of the flaws inherent to that time and studio system, including manufactured angst and convoluted plot, but an ultimately sweet main couple that (as a pairing) feels a bit more modern and satisfying to watch than they started out. This will probably go down in history as one of the few BLs where I genuinely didn’t care about any of the side couples. All that said I find this show oddly appealing and rewatchable and I have no excuses for that.

I Want to See Only You AKA Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai

Japan 2022

This is a beautiful, well acted piece of cinema, about two boys who are opposite personalities and grew up together. Gifted and serious Sakura pines after outgoing eccentric manic pixie dream boy, Yuma. It is very pretty and this is the kind of atmospheric elegantly performed BL that only really comes from Japan (complete with dead fish kisses - what you though Korea invented them? oh no).

Thai 2022

BL does Groundhog Day featuring a doctor stuck in a time loop who must save a poor little rich boy from death by seducing the stuffing out of him, then PLOT TWIST, poor little rich boy must do the same for doctor! Unfortunately... stuffing keeps leaking. I thought the plot was engaging if a little redundant and occasionally exhausting. The pairs were all well done, low heat but with decent chemistry and the support characters were likeable (or unlikeable, as required). If anything, the romance arc detracted and distracted from the main plot, but that doesn't stop this from being a genuinely good show.

Great Men Academy

Thai 2019

Bodyswap involving unicorns making a teenage girl into a boy makes this questionable as a BL (because, ya know, gender). But the fact remains that James is killer in the lead, and I (who do not like bodyswap) loved this damn show. Look, there is actual plot, hotties at boarding school, "bully the one you love" trope, some weird VR shit, very bad CGI, and yes, the boys end up together... whether they boys or not, so to speak.

Some of these shows may appear on a smaller streaming service, like WeTV, or they may be on a legal platform in your territory. I hope it goes without saying you should check there first.

Saturday August 10, 2019 [7:18 am]

You woke up, having hardly gotten any sleep, but energized as ever. Today you were meeting up with your boyfriend, Jaehyun. You two had just made everything official and your heart was so happy.

You go into the bathroom to do your skincare, and when you walk back into your room, you notice a good morning text from him.

Jaehyun: "Good morning baby! Can't wait to see you today <3"

A single text shouldn't make you this filled with joy, but it's from Jaehyun, so of course it does.

Y/n: "I can't wait either! Do you think we could also get some ice cream afterwards?"

Jaehyun: "We'll do anything you want angel"

You flop back onto your unmade bed, your thoughts filled with how lucky you feel to be Jaehyun's girl. You start to get giggly because you know that, by the end of the date he's going to cup your face into his hands and tell you how pretty he thinks you are, like he always does.

You were supposed to be at home, already asleep in bed by now, but you and Jaehyun didn't want to leave each other. Each of you making excuses to prolong your date. Now it's one in the morning and you're on a walk, the street lit up by the moonlight. Each step you take, now unconsciously synced with his. Jaehyun hasn't let go of your hand once, and you wish that he never would. While you were enjoying your stroll, his mind was racing, thinking of how to tell you. He knew in his heart that you felt the same way about him, so he decided it would be best to just tell you outright. "Y/n?" He says, with a hint of nervousness in his voice.

You both stop and turn to face each other, knowing from the tone in his voice that he needs to tell you something important. "I love you." Words cannot describe how your heart feels in this moment. The way he's looking at you, like you're the most precious person in the world to him, was making you melt. "You love me?" You say with a teasing smile, tilting your head slightly. "So much y/n. I can hardly take it." He says, breathlessly. You stand up on your tippy toes and give him the biggest kiss you've ever given him. "I love you too, Jaehyun."

The slight movement of Jaehyun cuddling more into you was the reason you had woken up. You move to get into a more comfortable position, causing Jaehyun to wrap his arm tighter around you. “I’m sorry baby, did I wake you up?” Jaehyun says with his morning voice that you couldn’t get enough of. “Hm, it’s okay. I love cuddling with you in the mornings.” Jaehyun nuzzles his head into your neck, “Me too, baby.” You fall back asleep, thinking about how excited you were that it’s almost your six month anniversary together. You can’t believe that you’ve been together for that long, the time feeling like it was going by so fast.

You knew something was up. You weren't sure what, but Jaehyun and all your friends and family had been acting strange for the past month. Like they all knew something you didn't.

You had just gotten a promotion at work, so maybe they all came together to plan a surprise party for you. But that's not really something you would enjoy and they all know that, so you really had no clue what it could be.

Today, Jaehyun was taking you out on a fancy dinner date, so whatever was going on definitely wasn't happening today.

"Good morning, angel." Jaehyun says, once he sees that you're awake. He's carrying a suit that he must have just picked up from the dry cleaners.

"Did you buy a brand new suit for our dinner?" You ask, confused.

"Yeah." He shrugs, as if getting a new suit was no big deal. As if he didn't have to spend days finding the right one for the special occasion. As if he didn't get the suit tailored to fit him exactly the way he knows you like.

You had more questions, but Jaehyun distracted you from them all by climbing into bed with you and giving you a million little kisses. You were in heaven whenever he did this.

Little did you know, that in only a couple of hours he was going to be down on one knee, in the park that you two visited during your first date, asking you to make him the happiest man on earth.

You woke up with the waves coming from right outside your hotel window. You feel around the bed and notice that Jaehyun must have already gotten up. You hear a sound in the bathroom and know that he just got finished with his morning shower. He comes out of the bathroom with a white robe on, his hair wet and messy, but you don’t think you’ve ever seen anyone as handsome in your life. “Can you believe we got married two days ago, Jae?” You ask, unapologetically staring him down. “No, I can't." He says, jumping back under the covers with you. "Did my beautiful wife have a good night's sleep?” You rest your chin on his now bear chest. “Yes, I did.” He strokes your hair as he looks down at you. “Should we sleep in on the first day of our honeymoon?” You nod your head yes, adamantly. You come up to press a kiss onto his lips and he cups your face into his hands and kisses you back. He pulls away, but just for a moment to ask you a question. “Do you know how beautiful you are y/n?”

Monday May 8th, 2028 [7:23 am]

“Mommy!” You hear as your oldest hops onto your bed, waking you up. “Mommy, happy mothers day!” She presses kisses all over you, making sure that you're fully awake. “Thank you sweetheart.” You say, sitting up so you can give her a hug and another kiss. She giggles in your arms and gets close to your ear like she has a secret to tell you.

"We made you something." She whispers.

Soon after, Jaehyun walks through the door, balancing your youngest in one arm and a stack of pancakes in the other.

“Happy mothers day, angel.” Jaehyun tells you as he sits the pancakes down on the bed and leans over to give you a sweet kiss.
