Plagg thinks for a moment that Adrien is renouncing him, only for the Miraculous to change it's hidden form. It's no longer a silver ring.

Rather, it's a sleek, black, ring that Adrien places onto his right middle finger. And if he shifts it, he can see a pattern of paw prints and ladybugs. It's extremely subtle, but it's there.

So I've been thinking about this poll by @rolo-potato, which at the time of writing this (less than a day into a week-long poll, but there are enough responses at this point that I doubt the overall conclusion of it will change much), has the ace spectrum as being Miraculous fans most common sexuality. I hadn't really expected that, given how heavy it is on the romance.

But then again, I'm ace myself, and I love the show, and I love the shipping in the show. The amount I'm invested in the couples is actually pretty unusual for me, I'm normally fine with a wide range of ships and tend to gravitate towards canon ones since those usually have the most textual support. When it comes to fanfics though, I'll often seek out the gen fics specifically, because while I'm fine with romance being included in a story, it rarely carries the story by itself.

But Miraculous has been different, and it's something I noticed even before this poll reminded me of that fact. The romance makes sense on a level that most other media doesn't for me - for most other media, I think of the pairings as being just a part of the story, an in-universe thing, but it doesn't usually connect with me on that deeper, more relatable level, because I haven't had that kind of depth of experience personally.

For Miraculous it's different. The romance doesn't just connect to me on a story level, but on a more visceral level somehow? Like when I watch the show, I can actually put myself in Adrien's and Marinette's shoes and get the way they're so head over heels for each other in a way that doesn't normally happen for me, even in well-written, well-built-up romances like between Percy and Annabeth in PJO, and Luz and Amity in The Owl House. I'm not even sure how to explain it fully, because I wouldn't say that the Lovesquare is better written than Lumity is, yet there's something about it, with the way it's presented, that hits me more deeply.

I do think that seeing the different ways Adrien and Marinette interact helps with that. I mean, they've got four distinct relationships with each other, and two of them - Adrienette and Ladynoir - are particularly important and common. For the first four seasons of the show, those relationships are also platonic on one side and romantic on the other, giving both Adrien and Marinette both the overwhelming attraction and secure friendship to each other, but in different ways. It helps that both their superhero and civilian sides, and the relationships between them, ARE true sides of themselves, so we see them get to be close in all these different facets that are still themselves - it's not just "oh this is a romance relationship, this is a platonic relationship" - it's both at the same time.

I'd like to ask other Miraculous fans on the ace spectrum what about Miraculous is special to them though, see whether they can articulate things better. But for me, Miraculous, and the Lovesquare especially, give me a sort of vicarious romantic experience that I just don't get normally.

In my rewrite, Adrigami happens for VERY different reasons and they almost never have romantic feelings for each other lol. As I figure out Kagami and Chloe’s arcs, all I know for certain is that these two definitely have an enemies to lovers arc together. Chloe wants Marc and Nathaniel working on their comic, but Kagami just makes herself home after ONE invite from her other artist friend and Chloe has to deal. Chloe doesn’t go down without a fight.

BTW, shoes.. are the devils creation. At least when it comes to drawing them.

I say this as a Love Square shipper so don't @ me, but with the way it's being portrayed, I can't help but think than, rather to try and run away from her feelings, Marinette crushing on Chat just as he as Adrien begins to have feelings for her and move on from Ladybug (i.e. her) reads more as her being lithosexual to me. Which, for those of you who don't know, is a side of the ace spectrum that describes when someone only feels attracted to somebody else when their feelings aren't reciprocated. 😂😂😂

I read an interesting post regarding Adrien Agreste just now, I would have reblogged it, but they said that they didn't want to deal with fandom backlash, which I totally respect. The post was talking about how they headcannon Adrien as aroace. Primarily because he's always stressing that Marinette is "just a friend". I think this would actually be very cool to see!

I don't think he'd be the standard definition or stereotypical aroace, but somewhere on the spectrum is entirely possible!

I truly think that until the episode multiplication Adrien has only viewed Marinette as a friend. Nothing more. And even now, I'm not so sure Adrien has fully come to the conclusion that he has romantic feelings towards her. He's acknowledged her as special. He has what most would call a "lovestruck" look when thinking of her, similar to how he does with ladybug, but that doesn't mean anything. This boy is no tsundere.

Personal rant:

I'm actually a bit jealous of his process. Every time I ever got stars in my eyes over someone as I grew up everyone immediately told me that I had a crush on said person, and I believed them. Only a year ago did I sit down and evaluate what I wanted to come of those "crushes" and do you know what I wanted from 99% of them? What most people would define as FRIENDSHIP. I get squishes, they're like crushes but you just really want to be their friend. I know I'm on the aroace spectrum. I think I could exist happily in a romantic relationship of some sort at some point in my life, but if I had had the time and opportunity to figure out my own feelings for myself instead of everyone labeling me and telling me what I was feeling I would have had much less hardship growing up. Confessing to someone that you like them, them getting awkward because they only see you as a friend and then they DITCH you because it's weird... when all you really want is to be their best friend. It hurts. And it happened over and over and over. Because it couldn't be friendship that got me giddy, it must be that "love and attraction" stuff that the whole world is obsessed with. INCLUDING MYSELF because... I DON'T even know why. Why am I obsessed with these types of relationships despite everything? I truly don't know.

Wait someone HC marnett to be ace? I can see why Adrien is HC as one but it's hard to imagine Marinette as an ace because this is the girl who said "if you must" when Adrien ask if he can get dressed first. 😂

I don't know whether anyone actually headcanons Marinette as ace, but I've seen a handful of stories where she is. Marinette's usually headcanoned as bi rather than ace, which makes sense. She looks up to Alya a lot after all, and is a bit too glowing with her compliments towards Kagami, thinking that of course Adrien would fall for her if given the chance, in Ikari Gozen.

Adrien's the one who's normally headcanoned as ace, since while he's definitely romantically attracted to Maribug, it's more the "sigh wistfully on her wonderfulness" type of behavior, rather than the "thinking with the other kind of head" type of behavior. I think he loves her, but doesn't lust for her. He gets sighy when he sees her, not drooly.
