Aaron likes FF.

He’s a good friend to have and he’s been doing Aaron a huge favor this semester by tutoring Katelyn in German. He’d tried to tutor her but his teaching style and her learning had not been very compatible and it had been leading to some fighting between the two of them. Nicky had been the one to suggest that FF was a pretty good teacher and he wouldn’t take any sort of advantage of the inherent romantic setting of being a tutor (whatever the hell that meant).

FF was a good tutor.

Aaron liked to hang out while Katelyn and FF had their tutoring sessions and FF’s gaze never strayed down from Katelyn’s face when he was talking to her. He gave her German children’s books that he himself had used to better understand the written language and Aaron quite enjoyed the nights he spent over at Katelyns where she’d clumsily make her way through them as they were winding down for bed.

There were other things to like about FF.

He liked how FF could disagree with him without fighting with him. He liked how FF had the confidence to just leave any situation he didn’t like. He liked how FF sang to himself when he was distracted (he had a pretty good voice). He liked how FF could watch horror movies without blinking. He liked how he could sit in easy silence with FF and the two of them could just do their own thing. He liked how bad FF was at video games.

He liked how FF never confused Aaron for Andrew no matter what they were wearing or if they were aiming to confuse people. FF never said how he managed it when even Matt and Nicky got them confused every once in a while but FF never failed to know which twin he was talking to. He also played along when they were going about messing with the other non-FF freshmen by vacating the area instead of alerting anyone to them having switched.

(Aaron is completely unaware of an entirely uncomfortable talk that Nicky has had with FF where he asked FF how he could tell Andrew and Aaron apart. The answer was that initially Aaron always had a very tiny pen mark on his ear somewhere because he had a habit of putting his pen behind his ear. The answer in the long run was that they stood slightly differently and Andrew had a wrinkle that Aaron didn’t. Nicky had asked why FF was looking so closely at his cousins, “Well, I thought that Andrew might swap with Aaron at some point to lure me into a false sense of security and then he’d kill me.” FF answers unaware of why Nicky went still, “I realize now that Andrew isn’t like that.” FF had rushed to assure.

“Yeah…” Nicky had said awkwardly.

“Really, I honestly don’t think Andrew would pretend to be Aaron to kill someone.” FF had said again.)

The thing Aaron probably liked the most though was how happy his cousin was to have someone who was ‘his’ person. Andrew had Kevin and Neil, Aaron had Katelyn, and now Nicky had FF. They were hardly separate from the other Foxes nowadays and they roomed with Matt but there was always a difference for their group between ‘family’ and ‘friend’. FF was someone that Nicky had claimed as family and they had all agreed.

Aaron also enjoyed watching how Andrew and Neil both couldn’t fully comprehend how FF had ended up as Nicky’s when they had both made quite a few efforts. Nicky had always just shrugged and said that they’d understand when they were older before heading off to go see FF at Abby’s house as if the rest of them weren’t following right behind him.

FF was healing nicely and would be moving back into the dorms in the next week or so but he still spent a fair bit of time in Aaron’s room. He had heard Nicky talking to Wymack about possibly having him moved into their room which Aaron wouldn’t mind even if it mean that he’d have to do the ‘Smith Shout’ more frequently.

The ‘Smith Shout’ entails walking into rooms that you thought were empty but theoretically they could also contain FF. If you didn’t mind a minor heart attack later then you didn’t need to complete the ‘Smith Shout’ but if you were perhaps…interested in making out with your beautiful girlfriend?

The ‘Smith Shout’ was a must, they were all trying to get better about the levels of hanky and panky that FF was subjected to just because they failed to realize he was right there.

FF never made a big deal about it but it always felt embarrassing when they heard the click of the door as FF left the room they were making out in.

There was no need for the ‘Smith Shout’ today as FF was helping Katelyn with some basic vocabulary and going over conversations and pronunciation with her. Aaron was sitting nearby going over some micro-biology homework when they heard a door slam open down the hall, pounding foot steps, and then their door slammed open to reveal a pale-faced Kevin

“Kevin, what-“

Kevin shushed Aaron before he could ask what was wrong and came into the room and shut the door with shaking hands. His phone was held in his right hand so tightly that his knuckles were white from the strain.

“Lord Moriyama just called me.” Kevin said shaking badly enough that Aaron wondered if he should guide the Striker over to their couch so that he could sit. “He…he let me know that he’s dropped the percentage I owe him to 65%” Kevin’s gaze slid to FF who was sat at the desks with Katelyn still. “He…he said to give you his…regards?” He says.

Aaron’s own gaze whips to FF.

“Ok.” FF says with an awkward shrug.

Aaron almost laughs at the lack of response but he holds it in unsure of how Kevin would take it.

“Kevin, it’s a good thing right?” Aaron says instead.

Kevin looks at him and nods frantically, “Yes. It’s a good thing.” He agrees. “35% makes things so much…so much easier.” Kevin says his shoulders sagging and it always bothers Aaron when he thinks about the deal that Kevin and Neil live under. He knows that Andrew has only been even listening to offers over a certain amount since he plans on helping Neil.

“I’m glad.” FF offers before turning back to Katelyn, “Ok, have you finished reading that book I gave you last week?” He asks apparently more interested in tutoring than in what Lord Moriyama had to say to Kevin.

“Oh, yes!” Katelyn agrees.

Kevin looks at them and Aaron has known Kevin long enough to recognize when he’s thinking about something. He even knows him well enough to sense when he’s thinking about something irritating.

Kevin leaves the room though so Aaron figures that it will be someone else’s problem.

He is, unfortunately, incorrect.

45 minutes later Kevin bursts into the room again and grabs Aaron, “I need your help with something.” He says, hands cold around Aaron’s wrist, and before Aaron can complain he is being dragged out of his room and into the room his brother shares with Neil and Kevin.

“Kevin, what the hell?” Aaron complains finally managing to pull himself out of Kevin’s grasp.

“I’m going to take control of Smith’s recovery.” Kevin says as if that was a normal thing to say, “Lord Moriyama wished him a speedy recovery and…and I owe him.” Kevin admits.

“You don’t need to take control of Smith’s recovery to thank him. You could just thank him?” Aaron points out the obvious answer but as per usual very few members of the Foxes were amiable to hearing the simple solutions that Aaron offered.

“No this is better. He’ll appreciate it more than just a simple thank you.” Kevin dismissed, “Now, do you think I should start with basic protein or more vitamin based smoothies for his recovery?” Kevin asks and only now does Aaron see the grocery bags of fruits, vegetables, and various other things littering the kitchen.

Why the fuck was everyone on this team so damn weird?

It was 20 minutes of Aaron trying to wrangle Kevin away from the weirdest combinations. The only thing that made him feel better was the knowledge that Josten was going to see all of these veggies and probably hiss like a vampire as he backed away from the fridge.

Still, 20 soul crushing minutes and they had a green beverage sitting in the blender that Josten had bought the room his sophomore year for Kevin. “I’ll be asking you and Katelyn for assistance on this project.” Kevin says.

“No thanks.” Aaron says exhausted from the last 20 minutes.

“Then I’ll just do it alone.” Kevin says and Aaron thinks about the various things that Kevin had wanted to put into the smoothie, thinks of FF tutoring Katelyn without asking for anything, and how FF had lied to protect Aaron’s brother even from federal agents when he had nothing to do with the mess of two years ago.

Fuck.

“Fine, I’ll help.” He grits out because he couldn’t leave FF to the nutritional whims of Kevin Day. He already feels bad enough about the drink that FF is about to be subjected to but he can at least stop Kevin from crushing actual multi-vitamins into the drinks and claiming it would make for good ‘texture’.

They come back to the room and Aaron hears Katelyn and FF talking about a new smoothie place that might be good for FF to try, “…have a peanut butter and banana one that would probably be easy on your stomach.” He hears her say unaware of the monstrosity Aaron has just had a hand in creating.

“No need for that.” Kevin says confidence unshaken and undeserved as puts a glass of green juice down in front of FF. “Drink that.” He says.

Aaron is immediately filled with a desperate desire to both apologize and slap the glass out of Kevin’s hand. Inevitable stained carpet be damned.

“Sure.” FF says as he takes hold of the glass.

It feels as Aaron watches it happen in slow motion. He sees Katelyn’s own revolted face and wishes he could tell her that this really was the best he could do in terms of saving FF. FF, unaware of Aaron’s inner turmoil, takes a sip of the green beverage full of Kale, spinach, sprouts, protein powder (plain), and some crazy Chinese health supplement that Kevin swore by but smelled vaguely alcoholic despite Kevin’s INSISTENCE that it was not.

“I know alcohol, this isn’t alcohol.” Kevin had said and honestly it was hard to argue with that logic.

FF brought it to his lips and drank it.

Aaron felt like he should have gotten a garbage bin ready but instead he watches on in horrified awe as FF drains the entire nightmarish glass.

“Cauliflower?” FF asks as he wipes the remnants of the smoothie off of his upper lip.

Aaron’s head whipped towards Kevin who was smiling as he accepted the glass back from Smith, “I’m surprised you would notice.” He says visibly pleased even as Aaron bristles.

“How the fuck did you put cauliflower in there, I was watching you.” He hisses.

“Katelyn texted you, I put it in then.” Kevin shrugs.

Aaron regrets nothing.

Kevin continued to hand FF bizarre healthy combinations of fruits, vegetables, and god knows what. Aaron and Katelyn did their best to keep Kevin from going too wild with his purchases but Kevin on a mission was a difficult thing to stop.

It didn’t help that FF accepted any and everything that Kevin handed to him without a single flinch. As far as Aaron knew FF didn’t even know that Kevin had decided to take control of his recovery and diet for the foreseeable future.

He had been making a run to buy Katelyn some tampons when he found FF in the stomach pain aisle looking between a two-pack or an extra large bottle of Pepto Bismol. “Smiths, if Kevin’s god awful smoothies are hurting your stomach you can just tell him.” Aaron says as he drags FF out of the aisle knowing that Pepto Bismol would not be good. “You can’t take anything with aspirin. Nicky had me read your care instructions to him in plain English I know.” He says.

FF didn’t say anything as he let himself be dragged to the register where the girl there seemed surprise that FF wasn’t buying anything. “Nothing for you?” She asks looking at FF.

FF nodded, “Nothing for me.” He agrees.

“I’m glad! You deserve it!” She says smiling as if she hadn’t just said something that felt wildly rude to say to a customer.

Aaron grabbed FF by the arm, scowled at the cashier, and dragged him out.

“They don’t hurt my stomach. I ended up there more on auto-pilot than anything.” FF says and Aaron remembers the conversation they had been having in the stomach relief section. “I think what I had yesterday was a bit too much.” He admits and Aaron rolls his eyes but doesn’t say anything else.

Kevin’s nagging about their health had gotten a combination of better and worse since FF had started accepting the smoothies without comment.

Better because now Kevin had someone who he could unleash his full overbearing nature on and who didn’t seem to even care or notice just doing as Kevin ordered. Worse because now Kevin had a taste of what it was like for one of them to follow his orders.

This building irritation had lead to Josten and Andrew grabbing FF before he could be ambushed by Kevin for his usual lunch smoothie and drag him off to an off campus Deli that they both liked. Josten had probably wanted to feel just a little bit superior to the multi-lingual Freshman since it was a Russian Deli where the owner only really got what you ordered if you did it in Russian. It had happened on the day where at morning practice Kevin had implied that FF would be a better protege since he listened while Neil continued to refuse vegetables.

He could just imagine Josten offering to order for FF.

What an asshole.

He remembers coming into the room the day previous and finding them dumping the contents of a styrofoam bowl into the blender. “What is that?” Aaron had asked.

“Borscht.” Josten answered.

“Why are you putting it in a blender?” Aaron asks knowing that Josten didn’t have an ounce of social awareness.

“So Smith can eat it?” Josten said back to him slowly as if Aaron was the idiot between the two of them.

“Does Kevin know?” Aaron had asked

“Kevin can’t bitch, there’s plenty of vegetables in there.” Josten said with absolute certainty.

Kevin can, in fact, bitch.

“Andrew ordered the borscht for me.” FF says as they continue towards the dorms interrupting Aaron from his memory. “It was good, it was just too much. Like what Kevin said yesterday.” He adds.

Aaron can’t believe Josten is so opposed to ordering vegetables that he made Andrew order FF’s food for him.

What an asshole.

Aaron thinks his cousin is being over dramatic.

FF could walk back from the Fox stadium to the tower on his own just fine. He was a big boy no matter how many times Nicky claimed him to be his ‘sweet little baby boy’.

“I’m not your baby. Don’t call me that.” FF grumbles through his yawn sounding very much like a cranky little baby.

“Maybe stay awake through the game and I’ll consider it.” Nicky teases.

“The game was boring enough to play let alone just having to sit and watch.” Kevin says and it was only because Kevin had his ‘post-game’ smoothie for FF to drink that they realized he wasn’t there before they left the stadium. “We can hardly blame Smiths for falling asleep.” Kevin shrugs elated by the win but disappointed in the competition. “Drink your smoothie Smiths.” He says and FF went back to sipping at the unknown concoction, “The tart cherries and avocado should help you go to sleep when we get back to Abby's.” He says as if that combination was a natural one.

“Tart Cherries and Avocado?” Josten asks in obvious disgust.

“They’re-“

“Hey, Granny Boy!” Came a shout that interrupted Kevin’s explanation.

Usually, anything that interrupted Kevin from some going on another lecture was a good thing but Aaron, bringing up the rear, can see how FF’s posture went from relaxed to painfully alert in a matter of seconds.

“Daniel.” FF returns.

What is this being written on?

ChoiceScript. I would try Twine, but my other game has a nice steady base on ChoiceScript, and I'd rather not move it over.

Do you have a patreon or ko-fi?

No, not as of right now. This will change later.

Is the rating 18+?

Yes. I'd say I believe the minimum age would be 17+, due to sexual content that can be fade to black.

Note: All sex scenes will be fade to black on the public demo. A private demo will be available for patreon or ko-fi donators when we get there which will include the explicit scene option (think ao3) and the "lite" version (think published smut).

How is the story formatted?

It will play out similarly to a dating sim/otome game. There will be 1-2 common starting chapters and then it will branch out into 6 routes for the ROs. All routes will have the same 6 key plot events, but will be different in how they're approached.

How many endings are there?

At least 6?

The endings will scale off of how many main events you succeeded in and the selected RO's relationship towards you. That means if you have a high relationship with your RO but have done poorly with the main events, you can still achieve a good ending.

Are there any poly routes?

Not as of right now. The coding for poly relationships is a bit too complicated for me to do right now. This may change as I get more comfortable with it.

Does MC have to romance someone?

Yes, that's the point of the whole game/story.

What are the characters ethnicities? Are they Chinese?

The world of Nian is heavily inspired by China and the Tang Dynasty, so the characters would be Chinese, but I don't assign real ethnicities onto them.

I know. That's why I said it's inspired by China, fantasy period C-Dramas, fantasy period pieces, and romance manhwa/manhua.

How does magic work in this world?

As of right now, I don't have a lore post about magic, so here's a quick breakdown.

Everyone can use magic. Some people have Magic Aptitude, which means they have more ability than most people. Magic is classified into Elemental Type and Class.

Will XYZ be in the story?

Maybe. This is a WIP so it's possible.

How are WLW/MLM/Queer relationships viewed/treated in the story?

They're fine. No one is homophobic.

How are women viewed/treated in the story?

Everything is mostly viewed about the same, as in it's pretty much equal for a majority of people. But a few things have lingered on from tradition (i.e boys inherit over girls, etc).

Help! I can't pronounce the names!

I provide helpful pronunciations for the characters' names on the Side Characters page. There will also be pronunciations listed in the stat page of the game.

How are the names written?

All names are written in the LastName FirstName format.

If I write something like "Consort Huo", it's the equivalent of "Mr Smith". For those who understand, the last names are monosyllabic while the first names are disyllabic.

Does MC have a set name?

MC has a set last name (Nan), but not a first name. You can name your MC whatever you'd like.

I encourage using a disyllabic name, for immersion and the fact that it would be the most "accurate". I provide 3 examples of disyllabic names in the game, but you can ultimately name your MC whatever you want!

Can you help me pick a name?

I certainly can! Just send me a private message (not an ask) with the name of your MC, and I'll find a name similar in meaning or pronunciation. Please be sure to tell me which you want, similar meaning or similar pronunciation.

Does MC have a set personality?

A bit, although it's more traits, as of right now. They will never want the throne, they are a good sibling to their siblings, they enjoy social events, and they are well-educated and a little bit naive from their position.

Does MC have a set appearance?

No. MC's appearance is up to you.

Can MC be trans?

I'm planning on it. There won't be any references made to a transition, though, and it won't affect anything besides the sex scenes. You'll have an option at the first sex scene to set what your MC has.

Will MC become the ruler? Can MC overthrow their father/brother? Can MC hurt *insert person here*?

No. Male MC is 4th in the line of succession and Female MC is 14th in the line of succession. MC loves their family and would do nothing to hurt them. MC will not perpetrate any kind of excessive violence against anyone.

Does MC have magic? Can MC do magic?

As mentioned before, everyone has magic. MC does not have Magic Aptitude, however, so their magic is on a normal level.

Sorry I took a minute to answer this, it has been a crazy busy couple of days! I'm going to put my whole response under a read more because I have lots of thoughts on this topic!!!

We all took for granted how insane and amazing TS2 lore was. God, I pour one out for her everyday RIP.

Anyway, let's get into this! ↓

Strangetown is my favorite world in TS2 as well! No one is surprised by this I'm sure. I actually ended up tying it (and some of its townies 👀...) into my Strangerville story because I just couldn't help myself. But I'll be honest - the family tree stuff with Lola/Chloe/Jenny/Pollination Tech 9 has always made my brain melt a little. I'm a visual person so I had to reference their family tree as a guide for our conversation. I'll provide the one that I used below!

Lore-wise, you have to start this conversation by talking about alien pollination and normal sim reproduction. You just can't avoid it. For me, I've always seen them as completely separate entities... otherwise Jenny is married to a man who, for lack of a better term, knowingly banged and impregnated her father lmfao. But not only that - if they were the same, that would imply that aliens are abducting people and engaging in sexual relations with them (with willingness or unwillingness not playing a factor; sim abductions can happen to sims who want or fear them) and this is kind of reductive and uncharacteristic of what we know about their species (plus the implications are icky imo). Therefore, I never thought that Pollination Tech 9 would view Lola and Chloe as his children, even though they technically are, in the way that Poli Tech wouldn't view Tycho as his child either (nor would Pascal regard Poli Tech as the father either).

If I'm recalling correctly, I don't think sims are necessarily aware which alien pollinated them in game (even though each sim neighborhood in TS2 has only one Pollination Technician, therefore making all the half-alien babies in that neighborhood half-siblings by default within the limited span of the game). I also don't know that male sims in TS2, from what I remember, are aware they've been pollinated because they're always surprised to find they're "pregnant," meaning there likely wasn't any a-typical intercourse happening that they could connect to the pregnancy (even if, let's be honest, Pascal might have been down for that). I think of pollination as an act similar to cloning, (the wiki says through "advanced technology") or as the name implies it could also just be a consequence of coming into proximity with their species (their name being a reference to reproduction methods of flora by pollination, for example). But realistically... it's a fictional simulation game, and in the case of TS2 it was super campy and a knowingly-leaning-into-the-outrageous kind of simulation game (which I loved and miss). So who knows!

All that to say that I agree; regardless of how the baby process works for aliens, it is still an absolutely crazy family tree lmao. Oh I loved (and still love) Nervous Subject and Pascal together. Just thinking about that ship makes me giggle because it was one of my first exposures to "shipping" and "fandoms" as a preteen. I always put them together and had them raise little Tycho to fulfill Nervous' family aspiration. (I should note that I was also an avid JRO enthusiast. Johnny has two hands, why should he have to pick between Ophelia and Ripp?) Another interesting layer to the Ophelia/Olive/Nervous family is that Ophelia would be unaware of her direct relation to Nervous (1st cousins)! I loved playing around with this; Olive was a very secretive person who had a dark side for sure, so I'm sure Ophelia would have a lot of questions following her aunt's death (the first being why her aunt's inheritance is going to some rando named Nervous lmao). Plus, who says Ophelia didn't know her aunt was taking people out? She might not have known why, but she had to know all those deaths around Olive couldn't have been coincidental. That's messed up on its own lmao. I like to think that once Nervous and Ophelia meet, they become close and he even helps care for her in a weird-older-brother type way. I just know they would trauma bond lmao.

I didn't care for Loki or Circe (I never played with their household), so I don't have super strong opinions on them. That being said, I love reading people's theories on their connection to the Curious brothers. I think the ongoing feud with the brother's and their connection to Nervous is the most interesting part of their story, but my ideal ending for them would have been being exiled from the town and their careers in general for their shady practices. Pascal seemed like the science antithesis to Loki and Circe who seemed to believe that it was okay for scientific truths to come at the cost of the wellbeing of others. Also, I think Circe is too hot and too evil for Loki AND Vidcund. That's woman commits many crimes, but her taste in men is up there as one of the worst things about her lmao.

Lastly, LAZLO. He's so silly goofy and so chill in comparison to his brothers, and he's definitely the black-sheep of the family. I love how in comparison to Vidcund and Pascal, his personal life is pretty typical and mild. He's just vibing as a third party witness to the chaos. He didn't sign up for any of the drama, yet you know he's a ride-or-die. In my mind, he's also the cool uncle. He'd catch Johnny smoking and be like, "Gotta share little man." He's the best. Little Fun fact - when I watched season 4 of Stranger Things, I couldn't unsee Lazlo Curious every time Argyle opened his mouth.

If you don't see it, that's okay. I can't unsee it though! He's high af, he's precious, he's always has snacks, he will take down the government or transport a dead body for the homies. He should be protected. I totally, 100% agree that Nova is his child!

NIER SERIES AND AOT SPOILERS AHEAD! AND MAYBE SOME LORE INACCURACIES!

Everything begins just like in canon with White Chlorination Syndrome and Project Gestalt, that was supposed to save humanity by transferring their souls into artificial shells. One of the scientists of this project - Uri Reiss - created a series of android assistants in the project.

The series was called Ackerman, due to Reiss' origin and the meaning of the surname - "ploughman", who'll prepare the soil for the seeds of new humanity. There were two models designed for their own specific purposes - Kuchel, who was wired to resemble a human, compassionate and humble, was made for maintenance of Replicants, reporting of their status, and assisting them, whilst her counterpart - Kenny- was made for combat for protection from external and internal threats so nothing can stop the project. Uri was one of the first people, who got his Gestals successfully transferred to the new vessel, so he and his Original creations kept watching over the Replicant village.

However, playing God never went well for humanity and the project proceeded to collapse on itself, Replicants obtaining their own consciousness, Gestalts going relapse and turning into aggressive beings trapped in their new speechless forms, called Shadows. Uri's Gestalt started to relapse too but due to his DNA stayed inside him, dooming both the body and the soul to painful death. Kuchel desperately tried to save the village, Kenny desperately tried to save his dear creator, but everything was already going down.

Both Shadow Uri and Replicant Uri decide that Gestalt was destined to fail and they all were fools for carrying out such a vain experiment and should've just welcomed their end. He confided that to Kenny, apologised to him that he couldn't build a Paradise in this village as he planned, and told him that both of his essences decided to leave this world, which he did, before Kenny could stop him. In the meantime Original Kuchel infects herself with a virus from grief and helplessness and died.

The events of the beginning of the Gestalt's fall caused Original Kenny's disfunction and going berserk. He destroyed every Shadow that he saw on his way but his life had lost its meaning. He used every single bit of data to emulate Kuchel and Uri's personalities within his head, which he successfully did. Although it kept him company, he couldn't forget that they were fake. And just like that he went on an eternal journey, and other Ackerman Models were lost to time. In the current timeline he is more like a legend.

In a couple of thousands of years YorHa androids lead a war against machines. The Humanity fights the Aliens. And it never stops.

The Commander of YorHa, despite his clever and inspirational words about Council of Humanity awaiting their victory on the Moon, is perfectly aware that it is all a lie and the mankind is no more. However, despite humans being a relic of the past, the civilisation such as this never ceased to fascinate him, so he accumulated a great dream of his own to stop the war and either collect enough data and ressurect humanity by replaying the evolution or finding a new civilisation in the vast open space. He is eager to understand humans, their feelings, their thoughts, so he took a human name Erwin Smith and encouraged others to do the same. Not everyone was eager to play this game so he had chosen his right-hand man's name himself and gifted it to him with the legendary swords to own.

1B, or rather Levi, is a part of redesigned Ackerman series and contains both of Kenny and Kuchel's traits. Second to none in battle, he is sent to Earth only on highly classified missions. His operator is 16O, also known as Petra, and his elite squad consists from 5B, 7D and 15D, a. k. a. Eld, Gunther and Oluo. He is in a warm though a bit odd relationships with the Resistance leader Hange, who helps YorHa with upgrades, maintenance, intel gathering and experiments, and posseses deep feeling of devotion towards his Commander. He at times wonders whether that what's true love or soulmates feel like but he doesn't think about it for too long because the twist is that new Ackermen were made to be Execution models and 1E was manufactured with the sole purpose to kill the Commander if he becomes unworthy of the title.

The newest formations of YorHa androids consist of three units: a Scaner, a Battle model and an Operator. They aim mostly on gathering intel. One of such squadrons is the one of 5S, 3B and 4O, a.k.a Eren, Mikasa and Armin. Armin is the Operator for both members of his team, however unlike them he isn't allowed to go on Earth surface (even if he really wants to). Eren is vehement towards machines and wants to win the war as soon as possible and Mikasa wants ro protect him from harm. She is a new Ackerman model, so is in fact an Execution unit 3E designed to kill 5S when he inevitably discovers something that he shouldn't. Everything here is pretty much according to the Nier canon (even Mikasa's voice, who knew that Yui Ishikawa voiced 2B, huh, I certainly didn't).

One of the reasons why machines are so hard to fight is that they keep evolving. Humanoid machines, a new kind that appeared only recently, are the strongest of them and the most dangerous. The first of them, Ezekiel, is just as the Commander deeply fascinated by humans and wants to rebuild humanity from machine lifeforms, not knowing of it being a fruitless attempt. Other humanoid machines are called Reiner, Annie and Berthold and name their group The Warriors.

Almost all of the machines are connected to the Network, created by Ymir, a machine without a physical form.

I really don't know how to integrate the Logic Virus into the story but a similar attack exists in the plot, wiping each and every YorHa unit exept the Ackerman units from Earth. The story is very patchy here but Mikasa kills Eren (who probably was used by Zeke to spread the Virus) to save everyone but it is too late so she deserts YorHa and takes 5S' corpse with her. Levi kills the Commander driven by the desire to let him die peacefully and quickly before the Virus turns him into a beast. After that he goes for the Warriors alone (save for Resistance's help) but comes across the Original Kenny and gains one more ally.

Levi, Mikasa and Eren posess unique weapons and I've written characteristic stories for them, so here they are (ignore the Virtuous Contract and Cruel Oath in the picture).

Yes! Eliazer has an AU counter part! For the sake of the post, and the fact i already have shown off OG Eliazer, this Eliazers nickname is Eli! [and if you havent seen the post, OG Eliazers nickname is just E lol]

I'll go ahead and list off their differences first becuase its easier and then get into detail about Elis spesific traits

Eli starts traveling a year or two before E does [yes i dont know their exact age sue me]

Eli had to actually die to "activate" his aasimar traits, so he died in the spell-explostion that E was merely burnt by!

Because Eli didn't know he was an aasimar/didnt get his traits until later in life, theyre still developing! hence the natural ginger hair turning white, the yellow eyes, and the smaller wings [this also means he cant control his wings super well and they react with his emotions and subconcious a lot more then E's do, so if he gets spooked his wings shoot out hehe]

[rip krevin] and Eli just doesnt know whats happened to him! i dont even know whats happened to him! he could be dead! sadly i dont intend on showing the fire genasi off, even though he has a super cool character design, because when i first made his design it was with this chibi base and while the base works for average people with minimal character traits to their physique [and to quickly get character design out of the way] it doesnt for someone whos supposed to be pretttttttty buff,,, so im gonna try to find better bases so i can learn from them like i do now!

Wow! thats all i can really think of? there are other small things like Eli isnt as flirty or sexually active as E or that Eli snuck out of his home town without telling anyone thats all pretty low on the level of importance

the biggest thing to say is that Elis hammer is a courting gift from his lost lover since hes a weapon smith and that his cloak is stolen from his mother when he snuck out at night

Anywho! the summary of his story issss,,, Eli spent a lot of his time in the woods surrounding his village becuase he was an outcast, he may not have been an aasimar at the time but he showed excelent signs of being a good healer so two of the priestesses started teaching him the way of his goddess and some healing spells and other religous things. this pulled him out of school from a young age so he never learned to read or write. he also blindly followed everything that was told to him, making everyone else in the town think he was incredibly nieave and gullable and kinda outcasting him more.

When Elis lost lover came to town he was completely foreign and not very welcomed, no one wanted to hang around a fire genasi in the middle of the woods. But Eli, having learned to treat everyone equally and with kindess from his goddess, encouraged the towns people to just let him stay a few nights.

and then a few nights turned into a year or so, Eli and his love definently had some kinda of relationship but it was never difined, they just lived day to day and while his love tried to make hints for Eli, Eli didn't really catch on. But near the end of Elis beginning his love kind of opened his eyes? made him question his loyalty to a empress hes never seen. hell his love mentioned a war but Eli has never ever heard of this war.

this is great of course because then the rebles attack his village to try and make sure the loyalists dont try and,,,,,,, kill more people lmfao ANYWAY Eli ends up questioning his whole life after waking up as an aasimar and in a state of panic and paranoia he flees to just literally anywhere and now hes with his life long destiny friends so thats great

the next session will be this saturday im so excited bc sometimes its voiced and i get to do a silly russian accent, this session will be over text but like! now i dont have to focus on maintaining the accent so yippe!

Yeah! Back in the day, Red vs Blue was my jam. I can’t say I’m familiar with any of the newer stuff once they actually started doing their own animation, but if you want something from the original old silly universe then I would be comfortable with that. Sheila is a queen and I would fight Caboose for her.

My first experience with a Kevin Smith movie was seeing Clerks 2 in movie theaters and I did not get the hype then. I think the Jay and Silent Bob characters are fun but otherwise I am not really a fan of his work.

Not really anymore. Trippin’ Balls was in its peak back when I was still writing on Lunaescence and I hadn’t even heard of Tumblr. I’d take requests from people in the reviews and so on. But now that I have a Tumblr and requests are open in general it feels kind of silly to continue taking requests for that specific old series when you can just ask me to write for anyone right here. I’m gonna be real with you, I have never watched a Nintendo Direct in my life. I did hear about them finally announcing the sequel to Breath of the Wild though and if Sidon is in it I will never shut up about it.

Doctor Who is already on my list of series I don’t write for. I have a feeling if I had a normal exposure to Buffy the Vampire Slayer that I would enjoy it, however, the only times I ever caught it on TV the absolute worst/darkest episodes were on. One was an episode where Buffy was in a psych ward because they were doing a whole thing where her life as a vampire slayer was all in her head or some shit. And the other episode I saw had a vampire that ate skin and he would skin his victims alive and I remember him using his sharp nail to cut a slice of skin off his victim and it fucked me up. So, yeah, I never wanted to watch Buffy atter that lol. So no Buffy either.

Eh, probably not. I mean, I watched the first season on Netflix and I enjoyed it but it also didn’t stick with me enough for me to remember anyone’s names. So unless another season releases where it is easily accessible for me to watch it and I am SUPER into it then probably not anytime soon.

SO. My One Piece insert comes from a family of nobles who govern a small island. They are, in a word abusive. Extremely so. And manipulative to boot, as they insist they love their 'little girl', and would never do anything that wasn't for 'her' own good. 'She' just has to be a good 'girl' and nothing will happen. So young insert starts to sneak out of the house so he doesn't have to be around them/spare himself some of the more physical abuse.

He roams the seaside town, looking sad and alone. He usually disguises himself (as a teen boy wow, how did he get that idea), so people generally don't give him the time of day. Little does he know, the local blacksmith has been watching him go by looking miserable day after day.

So one day, he gets called over. First, he's wary, why would someone want to talk to HIM. Who is this mysterious woman? She ends up introducing herself as Chante, asking him if he's busy and if he can help her with something. Warily, he agrees. That 'errand' is his first introduction to smithing. He loves it. A few days later he shows up again and shyly asks if he can hang around her forge again. She enthusiastically agrees and suddenly he's learning anything and everything. Chante becomes like a mother to him, inviting him over to her forge, or her house if the forge is closed. After a while, she asks him if he knows any self defense? He says no, absolutely not. This will not do, so fighting lessons it is. She teaches him several bits of martial arts, but also mostly pugilism and how to work a pair of cestuses. Of course, she notices the times he comes back roughed up and is steadily becoming angrier about it. But there's nothing she can do. One day, he comes back and tells her he has to tell her something. He's actually the governor's 'daughter', [deadname]!

"Oh, honey. I already knew that. But I don't think that role suits you, does it Adri?"

Many tears are cried! He thanks her for helping him become who he really is, and their relationship continues until his 24th birthday. Suddenly he shows up at her forge looking disoriented and rougher than most of the usual days. She tries to get him to tell her what happened, but all he remembers is her and who he is as ‘Adri’. She decides this is the last straw and also the perfect opportunity to get him out. So she prepares her ship (why does she have a ship?), and sets sail for the East Blue. Nowhere in the Grand Line is safe for him, not as long as there’s the possibility that he’ll be found. So she takes him to an island with a good reputation and tells him to start the adventure he’s always wanted. If they’re meant to see each other again they will. And they have their tearful goodbyes, Chante taking it harder because she fully intends to never see him again.  During insert’s character arc where he returns to the island with the Straw Hats, she’s quintessential to the plot of rescuing him from his family. And then right before the timeskip, Kuma boops him to this volcanic mining island, where lo and behold, Chante is there again! He asks her what she’s doing there and she grins, introducing him to her crew and welcoming him to the official mining/weapon-smithing operation for the Rebel Army. Then she trains him over the time skip. :D

That’s my lore for my Zoro ship insert anyway.  There’s an AU version me and @firebird-inkheart  have where it was just him walking around as a kid looking beat up so after getting to know him, the amnesia episode thing happened and she was immediately like ‘yeah, no, that is an actual child’ and straight up took off with him where she settled down with him in the island that a few key characters live as kids.

For my Smoker ship, he left with her on his own accord as a teenager and joined her rebel army gig before settling down in Loguetown and making the local Navy Captain’s life a living hell aksdghjk. For my Kid + Killer ship, it’s pretty much the Zoro Childhood Friends AU up there, but instead of settling on an island with certain other characters, she winds up on the island that Kid and Killer also live, and she deals with parents coming to tell her what a nuisance her kid is and she just shakes her head, shrugs, and says “He’s headstrong”, while also politely correcting people who misgender him. She’ll leave the intimidating and threats to Kid and Killer lmao. ANYWAY, that’s the story for Chante! She’s a kind, strong woman who is the forgemaster for the Rebel Army’s main smithing gig, is a talented martial arts teacher, and loves kids.

The Meloetta, claiming to be sent from Arceus, said she had an important mission - to bring gods to this world, in hopes of fixing the mess the trio had caused, as the death of all of the gods had led to many natural disasters, including the death of humanity and many Pokémon species.

There was an obvious problem with that however - the Godslayer, Hydrangea. With a lot of negotiation from Lilith, the two of them came to an agreement, that the gods would not misuse their powers against the mortals, and in return, Hydrangea would not attack or kill any of them.

It was a deal.

Although Hydrangea had promised not to physically harm the gods, she had not promised to be nice to them, and was verbally aggressive to most of the new gods - most of the time she was being petty, but one of the few things she had a point with was her name. She did not want to be called Hydrangea anymore, due to Luci calling her that, and instead shortened her name to Hydra; the nickname Lilith gave her.

However, Hydra’s attitude and history still made the other gods extremely uncomfortable, and the Meloetta was soon forced to take the Decidueye with her to another world while she sought out a life god.

While Meloetta was seeking her out, Hydra wandered off, and found a Yveltal venting to herself.

Listening in, she overheard the larger bird planning on killing herself to spite some of her fellow gods - at best, she would take some of them out with her, at worst, it would still destroy their domains.

Angry, Hydra made her presence known and immediately started an argument with the Yveltal, pointing out her death would harm a lot more innocents than she was acknowledging, in a midst of insults.

The Yveltal, very intrigued and impressed by this owl who had the courage to speak down to a god, did admit she had a point and began reconsidering her actions.

Unfortunately, Meloetta had been unable to convince any of the life gods to come back with her, but the Yveltal, introducing herself as Mara, was willing to volunteer, due to her earlier interaction with Hydra.

Overall, Meloetta had managed to convince seven gods to return with her; Hoopa, Celebi, Jirachi, Yveltal, Landorus, Tapu Fini and Shaymin. Alongside herself and Lilith, that made nine gods - nowhere near what the world should have had, but enough to keep it functional.

Unfortunately, there were still signs that this world was not quite right; fields upon fields of ichor flowers, the temperature being colder than usual, with winter receiving little to no sunlight, plants struggling to grow properly and hostile seas, not to mention humanity and several species of Pokémon were extinct.

However, it was no longer doomed, and thus Meloetta considered her job complete.

Afterwards, Hydra chose to live in the Sinnoh mountains, visited only by three individuals: Lilith, who she was genuine friends with, and always welcome; Allium, the Hoopa, who was convinced he could befriend Hydra; and Mara, who’s interest in Hydra had revealed itself to be romantic, and was attempting to court her.

Strangely, despite Hydra not reciprocating this courtship, she made no move to indicate that it was unwanted or she was rejecting Mara. Knowing that Hydra would, somewhat threateningly, let her know if her advances were unwanted, Mara did not let this dissuade her, and continued to pursue her. Eventually, Hydra had made up her mind, and began reciprocating Mara’s courtship, and the two of them became a couple.

Eventually, Hydra began settling down. She took up weapon smithing and pottery as hobbies. She got a little closer to Allium. She had a child of her own with Mara, and to everyone’s surprise, easily accepted Lilith’s adopted child as her own family.

With time, Hydra slowly began to reflect on her actions - seeing her family, and knowing that long ago she would have killed them without hesitating, was unsettling to her, to say the least. She also knew that her claim of it was for ‘the good of mortals’ was just an excuse for her to carry out her bitter grudge.

Change was slow, but sure. She became less verbally aggressive towards the other gods, and began helping mortals in need in the mountains. She also finally considered what identity meant to her, personally, and started going by Rayne, and he/she/they pronouns.

Although she never announced what she was doing, her family could see the change in her actions, and were secretly proud of her, and with time, you would never be able to tell that Rayne was the feared Godslayer of old…

Hello and welcome to my first ever collab call to celebrate me hitting a huge follower milestone! This is dedicated to everyone who loves the supernatural – like me – and enjoys writing a little more interesting creatures than just vampires and werewolves – which of course are still lovely. Some creatures are fairly similar but I wanted to give you as many choices as I could come up with without having to choose absolutely crazy creatures. As said before you’re free to bend the lore of the creatures, this is just a guide – mostly off of Wikipedia – to some of the lesser known creatures. Warning: Some creatures are darker and more gore-y than others. The descriptions are as ungraphic as possible.

Vampire: A living corpse that feeds on the blood of the living to survive

Werewolf: A human with the ability to shapeshift into the form of a wolf

Werecat: A human with the ability to shapeshift into the form of a feline

Angel: A pure, benevolent intermediary between humans and god, protectors and guiders for humans, servants of god

Guardian angel: Godsend protector and guider for humans

Fallen angel: Angel that has become tainted by sin and fell from heaven

Devil: Ruler of the underworld, personification of evil and temptation

Demon: Supernatural creature usually associated with evil and sin

Incubus: Male demon that gains his energy from engaging in sexual activity

Warlock: Male practitioner of witchcraft

Witch: Female practitioner of witchcraft

Necromancer: Practitioner of magic involving communication with the dead

Genie/Jinn: Neither innately evil or good spirit

Shapeshifter: A human possessing the ability to physically transform their body

Ghoul: Demon-like creature associated with graveyards and consuming human flesh

Zombie: Undead revenant

Siren: Creature half bird and half woman who lures sailors by the sweetness of her song

Mermaid/Merman: Aquatic creature with an upper body in human form and the tail of a fish

Nymph: Minor nature deity, generally regarded as personifications of nature, tied to a specific place or landform

Dryad: Tree nymph

Fairy: Magical creature with human appearance, magical powers and a penchant for trickery

Elf: Beings with magical powers and supernatural beauty, ambivalent to humans, capable of either helping or hindering them

Gnome: Diminutive spirit that typically lives underground

Dwarf: Entity hat dwells in mountains and in the earth, associated with wisdom, smithing, mining and crafting

Satyr: Bawdy male nature spirit with horse/goat like legs, ears and horns

Naga: Creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake

Harpy: Half human, half bird personification of storm winds

Ha, hello again, welcome back.

That said, I'm actually not, to me Sauron's a very interesting guy that we don't get to see much of in the original series. That's the end of Sauron, where he ends up after everything that's happened to him.

To me, Sauron's story is essentially a classic tragedy, a noble character, through an inherent and lethal flaw, makes a series of increasingly terrible choices that ultimately lead to his doomed end at the end of the series.

Or, in the case of what happened to Sauron, he got his ass kicked by lesser beings twice.

So let's go back to the beginning.

Sauron starts as Mairon, a proud, ambitious, but certainly not inherently evil Maia living in Valinor, the realm of the Middle Earth gods. The Maia, in Middle Earth lore, are essentially angels, and have not only no inherent form (Mairon's actually a giant ball of light and fire that can appear in various humanoid forms) but were created to help create the mortal world.

Mairon was a very talented, perfectionist, smith under the... we'll call him a smithing god, Aule. However, Mairon was unsatisfied with this and was intrigued by Melkior, a different god who was viewed as one of the most talented and innovative of the Valar. So, Mairon goes off to be his apprentice instead and then...

Well, Melkior becomes Morgoth, and if there is an inherently evil character in Tolkien's worlds then it's definitely Morgoth. Opinions vary on how willing a disciple Mairon was of Morgoth once true colors were revealed, but I fall on the Mairon being very internally conflicted.

I imagine he went through quite a bit of torture and hell on earth, and in the end, isn't all that fond of Morgoth. Doesn't excuse him, of course, but he and everyone else has a miserable time.

During this time, Mairon also loses his name and becomes Sauron, the abhorrant one, and embraces his identity as torturer/despised enemy of the elves (who Mairon never saw much point of and doesn't see why Middle Earth was created for them let alone Men).

Morgoth declares war on the rest of the Valar, makes Middle Earth a hell hole filled with monsters, and Sauron becomes his lieutenant. Various shit happens, Sauron gets tangled up in the Luthien and Beren mess, loses to them, and spends a good chunk of the first age in a coma somewhere recovering from his wounds inflicted by Morgoth in punishment.

Morgoth is imprisoned by the Valar, that doesn't work so well, he escapes and there's a giant battle. Morgoth and company lose, Morgoth is banished into the void, Sauron, rather than return to Valinor and face punishment for his crimes, flees.

And here's where he could have had his moment of redemption. He could have returned to Valinor and owned up to his actions. Or, barring that, he could have let go. Morgoth is effectively dead, he can leave his identity behind, and he can move on.

Sauron can't move on.

Instead, a good while later, he starts building up an army in Mordor and then arrives in Eregion, an elven kingdom, in the disguise of a Maia from Valinor arrived to teach elves great smithing tricks. There, he and Celebrimbor invent ring craft and practice it for three-hundred years, and I don't think it's a stretch of imagination to say that they were friends.

Only, Celebrimbor didn't quite trust him and created the three rings for the elves in secret. Well, Sauron revealed his true intentions after creating the one ring, making the men who had been gifted rings by him his slaves and making the dwarves more indifferent and greedy (they proved hard to corrupt). He ends up torturing Celebrimbor, using his body as a banner, and sacks Eregion.

And here's the thing, he didn't have to do any of this. He could have stopped, could have become Annatar as he was pretending to be, but no, Sauron just keeps going.

Anyways, Numenor, the kingdom of men, go to war against him and win. This is pathetic, Sauron has been defeated by mortals, and he's taken captive on their island. There he sits, for a good long while, until political drama comes up and a very corrupt man seizes the throne and marries his cousin.

Long and short, Sauron convinces them all to be Satanists and to invade Valinor, a land mortals are never meant to touch. Well, God doesn't like that, and smites not only the invaders but the entire island of Numenor. It sinks into the sea, Sauron's probably hated water and been terrified of drowning ever since.

Sauron goes back to Mordor, but there's still a kingdom of men out there, those who fled from Numenor during the Satanist purges. They ally themselves with the elven kingdoms and make a last stand against Sauron.

Against all odds, Sauron distracting himself in a crucial moment, they defeat him by cutting off his finger. Sauron becomes a wraith, the ring falls into Isildur's hand, and the second age comes to an end.

For the entire third age, Sauron is off being a miserable wraith, and only towards the end regains his form (though not his fair form) and starts gathering forces in Mordor again. The ring floats at the bottom of a lake, then Gollum gets it, then Bilbo, then Frodo.

Then, against all odds, the Lord of the Rings happens and the ring is destroyed. Sauron is essentially defeated and will never have the power he ever wielded again.

Life is pointless, he's a fool, and the volcano is erupting. EDIT: An anon reminded me (warning, it’ll be a while til I get to your actual post and question), that Gil-Galad was very important! Sauron was gravely injured/died from the wounds inflicted on him by Gil-Galad, Isildur cutting off Sauron’s finger helped that along, perhaps, but was far from the killing blow.

OKAY! so! dnd au's! this gonna be a long one lol I'll start off with my oldest one!! this one started as an attempted secret santa gift that got too big to finish in the time frame I had with the energy I had. basically I got a list of the person's favorite characters and thought "hm. i don't currently have any au ideas including them all (eret, foolish, wilbur, sapnap and punz) as the main characters, so why not come up with a new one!" and I put a bunch of au bases (ex. superhero, pirate, timeloop, etc) down and rolled a die to pick one lol and thus the dnd au was born!! as well as the worst party composition I've ever seen lmao punz- mark of sentinal human fighter (battle master) / warlock (functionally the fateweaver, but different in story context ;-]) sapnap- fire genasi fighter (champion) / warlock (same as punz) eret- kalashtar sorcerer (angelic bloodline, but flavored differently in world) foolish- demigod (homebrew race) artificer (alchemist) / sorcerer (storm sorcery) wilbur- demifae (homebrew race) rogue (mastermind) / bard (college of lore) I don't want to spill too much of the story here cause I do still want to write it someday, but we've got warlocks by force, demoted gods and tired-of-his-small-town wilbur who gets in a bit over his head. au 2!!! this au was born when I was playing with my dear friend @logicallystupid's random au generator, which involves putting in different options like protagonists, antagonists and au type, and rolling dice to put together an au concept! i rolled dnd (my dice seem to really like dnd au's, how fitting) and got this! i also rolled randomly for the characters race, class, subclass, level and stats, which brought some fun concepts. for the protagonists I rolled rainduo (niki and wilbur) and for them I got: niki- scourge aasamir ranger (monster slayer) wilbur- mark of handling human sorcerer (frozen heart [a homebrew subclass]) for the antagonists I rolled beeduo (tubbo and ranboo) which is very fun for me, and for them i got: tubbo- tiefling artificer (battle smith) ranboo- changing cleric (life domain) this one doesn't have a fully plotted out story yet, but so far its got magically bonded wilbur & niki, up-to-no-good beeduo, and hermitcraft cameos <3 the other au isn't so much a single au as it is my minds constant wish to mix dimension 20 and dsmp together (which may i say, the two fanbases are criminally undercrossed) there's so many good possibilities, be it direct character to character au's, isekai'ing people from one universe to another, or just au's in the settings. an sbi-centric acoc au is particularly painful to think about, but there's also imagining dsmp characters in the unsleeping city, trying to line up the wild family trees from both stories for a fantasy high au, and more. any dsmp fans who are also d20 fans, feel free to hit me up anytime to talk about these things (or other stuff) i'd love to find more people with the same dual interests as me lol thank you mye for indulging me on my dnd aus, and if there's any questions or comments you (or anyone has) on them, you're always welcome in my askbox!!!

Gorillaz: Plastic Beach

mAh, nostalgia. This album was my high school years. I got a digital copy for my birthday from my mom and became obsessed with this album well into college. The dominance of electronica, the use of people with great voices, the expansion of the lore, Lou Reed...this album was all of music when I got it. It's my favorite Gorillaz album and it looks like it's gonna stay that way for a while. But how is it on a not even approaching semi-objective level? Let's find out.

1. Orchestral Intro

You can probably guess it by my awful taste but I'm not really into orchestra. This opening though, with the sound of waves and the mourning instruments, really tipped me off that I was in for something different. This album wasn't going to start off with something chill or even a zombie movie clip. No, at this point, Gorillaz were officially done fucking around.

2. Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach

Then we get the brass leading us into a good beat and then HOLY SHIT, SNOOP DOGG?! He leads us in like a bandleader while a chorus of women back him up Just Like That while he goes with his usual flow. He adds the needed touch of instant cool to an album that's practically frozen with the artists already on it and with this song, it feels like you're walking past the gate into Disneyland.

3. White Flag

Some nice Arabian sounding instruments on this one. Pretty cool for Gorillaz to keep engaging in world music. Anyway, this was a really cool instrumental but it's time to move on to the other son---

Huh?

Suddenly, we get beeps and mixes backing up Bashy and Kano as they kick so much ass talking about pacifism for the sake of survival. This song kicks an undisputed amount of ass and it barely even tries.

4. Rhinestone Eyes

What I like about this song is that I keep finding new things to like about it as the years go back. First, I liked the weirdly-threatening nature of the song along with the woman moaning in time with the verses. Then I liked the video (even though it was insanely shady of EMI to release that without Damon's and Jamie's permission and it ended up being the thing that led to Phase 3's premature ending and Gorillaz going on hiatus). Then I liked the continuation of the moaning that I first noticed in live performances then finally heard in the song itself. This song is like Rolexes falling from the sky.

5. Stylo

Ah, the first single from the album. I remember telling my dad about this when I first saw the video for it. I was about to write off Gorillaz as a relic of my past before I saw Murdoc and 2D get run off the road by Bruce Willis. This song has an awesome bridge by Yasiin Bey, nice crooning by Damon Albarn and incredible back-up by Bobby Womack, who manages to lift the entire song over his head using just his voice. Damn, wish he had another song that put his voice on full display. Maybe later in the album...

Yeah, De La Soul is back! And they're singing about TV dinners! Seriously, these guys can make guessing crossword actually fun instead of a dredging experience and have Shiny Toy Guns frontman Chad Petree singing about radioactive seas brings the whole thing home. It makes you want to really go out and eat a random jellyfish but don't do that. It'll hurt.

Okay, before I give this song its totally fair score, it should be noted this is my third favorite song of all time. I love Damon's reassuring lyrics in the beginning but the switch in the middle to a more upbeat electronic pop tune pushes this song past perfect.

Then there's Little Dragon...

This song introduced to me to Yukimi Nagano's voice and wow...I didn't think humans could sound like that, let alone an Asian woman singing soul. If you think the instruments are carrying her here, obviously there are clearly no other songs on the album that showcase her talents so I have to recommend After The Rain, Twice and Constant Surprises by Little Dragon. Seriously, this woman's voice will water your fucking crops.

8. Glitter Freeze

Where is north from here? Don't ask me, I'm not a compass. Anyway, this song has Mark E. Smith from The Fall and they use him to his fullest extent...by which I mean letting him make an absolutely evil fucking laugh somewhere near the end. The instrumentation makes it feel like you're in a storm on a shaky ship and you're definitely going to feel like you need some pills after you're finished. This stuff will put hair on your chest.

9. Some Kind of Nature

This song introduced me to Lou Reed and I'm grateful to it for that. Lou was a shitty dude but damn his voice really made things better than they should have been. Fuck, I was one of the eight defenders of Lulu for this reason. But Damon doesn't sit with his thumbs up his ass on this song. He holds his own and makes the chorus sound legitimately dreamlike. All we are is stars, indeed.

10. On Melancholy Hill

This song is awesome to chill to...unless you're escaping a cruise ship while being gunned down by fighter jets. But other than that particular example, I recommend this song for anyone trying to relax while thinking of someone special. But be careful with the last note of this song. That gong can be a real eye opener.

Bummer of a song but if there's one song you absolutely NEED to learn on melodica, it's this one. Aren't we all broken? Well I am. And this song speaks to me.

Yasiin's back and there's gonna be trouble. He plays a carny in this track and you know that no matter how many times you listen to this song, you'll always gonna fall for his schemes. He's gone on to say that this is one of his finest achievements as a MC and I can see why.

Holy shit, they got the 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover guy on this track. Makes since because this, outside of Empire Ants, is my favorite song on the album. The harmony, the little imp they got for the bridge, the triangle...everything makes this song better than it has any right to be on an already awesome album. Damn, plastico indeed.

14. To Binge

Shock of all shocks, Yukimi's back! And it's a duet with Damon! And it's a song about a relationship torn apart by addiction! It's not my birthday so it must be Christmas. These two manage to drown the listen in waves of audio goodness that leaves them feeling like they spent 3 minutes and 56 seconds standing under a waterfall.

15. Cloud of Unknowing

Okay, I cried to this song. And now, with Bobby Womack's passing, I cry even harder. This song should be an anime ending with how solemn it is but you need to listen to the end to hear, "It may bring sunshine on its wings." Also, Damon covered this song live after Womack's passing. I suggest you look it up because it is tear-ripping.

Eh. Pretty average song compared to the others on the album but I appreciate the message. Sweet Lord, people. Turn off your shit when you're not using it. We only got one planet and I don't trust Elon Musk.

5e Renekton, the Butcher of the Sands build (League of Legends)

So I’m a dumbass who didn’t realize that May 31st falls on a Monday. Guess you get one more Shurima’s champ out of me. Honestly it’s only fair since I did Nasus such a long time ago. "Die like a dog."

GOALS

As I live, all will die! - In the heat of battle the strong survive by Culling the Meek. Helps when said culling gives you strength to keep fighting.

Who's next on the chopping block? - We need to be able to get onto our enemies to Slice and Dice them like the Ruthless Predator we are.

Now you will know agony! - Isn’t it nice to just slap a button for 550 extra HP?

RACE

I’d love to be able to use Christopher Zito’s Envie race for Renekton but unfortunately I swore off homebrew for this account. With that being said there are several different races I’d like to use, but let’s get the Tasha’s stuff out of the way first: whatever race you end up using aim for a +2 to Charisma and a +1 to Strength. Charisma will be used for Intimidation, and Strength is what you’ll use if they don’t care about your Intimidation!

With that out of the way there’s three races I’d suggest for Renekton:

RACE 1 - LIZARDFOLK

IE “the obvious one” that’s the closet to an alligator. The truth is that Lizardfolk doesn’t offer too much for this build. You get Cunning Artisan to craft bone weapons, but why would you use them when you have some of Shurima’s best weapons on hand? (IE Renekton doesn’t really make bone weapons.) You can also Hold Breath for up to 15 minutes at a time but Renekton isn’t an aquatic ambusher.

Hunter’s Lore is nice (I’d take proficiency in Perception and Survival) but Natural Armor is completely wasted as we’re going to be wearing Heavy Armor in this build.

The only ability we’d really be using is the Bite and Hungry Jaws which could serve as a recreation of Cull the Meek‘s lifesteal effect. But it’s honestly the worst option we have and other options that come later in the build that recreate that ability better.

This blurb basically exists to say Lizardfolk would be the best race to choose if you want it to be blatantly obvious that you’re playing Renekton. But it’s really not that good for the actual build.

RACE 2 - RAVENITE DRAGONBORN

If you want to keep the scales but actually be practical in combat the Ravenite Dragonborn from Wildemount is a pretty good pick. This does mean you get a  Breath Weapon which is a problem because uhhhh... Renekton doesn’t have a breath weapon? But you’re more than welcome not to use it, especially since as a (likely) Green dragonborn your breath weapon does kekw Poison damage.

As a Ravenite Dragonborn you trade Damage Resistance for Vengeful Assault, letting you make a weapon attack as a reaction if someone hits you. This is a very good way to get more damage output but you can only use this ability once per Short or Long Rest.

Oh you’d also get Darkvision, so you probably wouldn’t go insane in the dark with Xerath. Oops.

RACE 3 - ORC?

It seems very out of left field but an Orc (either an Orc of Eberron or Orc of Exandria, as they’re just objectively better than the Volo’s Guide Orcs) honestly has the best racial traits to recreate Renekton. The most notable trait of Aggressive serves as a very good recreation of Slice / Dice since they basically serve as a dash towards enemies. Primal Intuition is also nice for free skills (again I’d go for Perception and Survival); everything else on the Orc race is more of a ribbon ability so I’m not going to talk about them much.

tl;dr I personally made Renekton an Orc as that’s the best recreation of his abilities in League of Legends. Lizardfolk would be the best recreation of his appearance but has few practical abilities. Ravenite Dragonborn is a good middle ground of looking like Renekton while still being useful.

ABILITIES

15; STRENGTH - Wars are won with blood on the sand.

14; CHARISMA - Charisma is still tied to Intimidation for whatever reason, and “intimidating” is certainly a word to describe you.

13; CONSTITUTION - Top laners are meant to be tanky and you are certainly no exception.

12; DEXTERITY - You don’t get two dashes without having at least a bit of dexterity.

10; INTELLIGENCE - Military tactics were done by your brother... WAIT! YOU DON’T HAVE A BROTHER! RAAAAHHHH!

8; WISDOM - Xerath broke your mind, turning an already violent croc into the true butcher of the sands.

BACKGROUND

You were a Soldier... but I like having backgrounds that don’t reference long-dead civilizations, so Outlander works well enough. You get proficiency in Athletics but I’d swap that Survival proficiency out for Intimidation to still be a Soldier at heart. You also get a Language (Celestial for Ascended) and I guess a musical instrument? But I’d change that instrument out for a tool of some kind. Or maybe another language.

The reason we opted for Outlander is because Wanderer makes far more sense for you. You’ve been looking to kill your brother for long enough you also know how to hunt for food and find your way around important landmarks.

THE BUILD

LEVEL 1 - FIGHTER 1

Starting off as a Fighter because that’s all you’ve ever known. You get some skill proficiencies so take proficiency in Perception and Survival... unless you already have them in which case uhhh... I guess Acrobatics and Insight works? Honestly if you got skills from your race we’ve got all we need. But more skills never hurt!

You know what does hurt, though? A Fighting Style like Great Weapon Fighting, which will allow you to reroll 1s and 2s on a Greataxe. Because I’d reflavor your cleaver as a Greataxe!

The Great Weapon Fighting style is kinda bad though, even though more damage is the most fitting for Renekton. Defense, Superior Technique (take Trip Attack), and even Blind Fighting fit as well if you want something more practical.

For more things that don’t hurt Second Wind will let you carry a refillable potion into lane to heal for a d10 plus your Fighter level as a Bonus Action.

LEVEL 2 - FIGHTER 2

Second level Fighters can unleash their Fury in an Action Surge, letting them take two actions instead of one!

LEVEL 3 - FIGHTER 3

Third level Fighters get to choose their Martial Archetype. You share one thing with your brother, and that’s your Ascension. So take the Rune Knight archetype like your brother for true Dominus! You gain Bonus Proficiencies in both Smith’s Tools and the Giant language but let’s be realistic that’s not what we’re here for.

Your Ascendant powers manifest some Rune Carver abilities; you technically have to inscribe these runes onto your armor but what’s important is that each rune grants some passive effects and you can activate either of these runes once per Short or Long Rest:

The Frost Rune gives you advantage on Intimidation checks (and Animal Handling checks, I guess?) You can also activate the rune for a +2 bonus to your Strength and Constitution checks and saves. This mostly just means Athletics but it does also boost your Concentration checks, which will be important later!

The Fire rune gives you expertise with your tools, which is neat I guess. But if you hit an enemy with your weapon you can not-quite Stun them by chaining them with fire! They take 2d6 fire damage and have to make a Strength saving throw to resist being restrained. If they’re restrained they take 2d6 Ignite damage at the start of their turns, and can attempt to break out of the chains at the end of their turn. It can last up to a minute though, and if anyone’s cooking through Ignite for a full minute then they’re probably dead.

But come on: what we’re really here for is Giant’s Might for some Dominus! As a bonus action you become Large (along with anything you are wearing, unless you lack the room to become Large), you have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, and once on each of your turns you can make one of your attacks deal an extra 1d6 damage to a target on a hit. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

LEVEL 4 - FIGHTER 4

4th level Fighters get the first of many Ability Score Improvements: Strength is used to be the Butcher of the Sands, so get more Strength to truly butcher your foes.

LEVEL 5 - FIGHTER 5

5th level Fighters get an Extra Attack, letting them both Slice and Dice on their turn.

LEVEL 6 - WARLOCK 1

Be it your Ascendant blood corrupting or Xerath’s influence, but you’ve got some abilities that can only be described as magical. (Which is to say I can’t give you Lifesteal and Stuns as a Martial character.) Warlocks get to choose their Patron at level 1 and I hope you bought Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, because I sure didn’t! That’s why I’m still using the Unearthed Arcana version of the Undead Patron (and definetly not because I’m writing this build before Van Richten’s came out.)

Regardless the influence of the Undead means that your Reign of Anger manifests into a Form of Dread for your foes. You can activate this ability as a bonus action for one minute for the following bonuses:

You gain temporary hit points equal to a 1d10 plus your Warlock level. Be it a second Second Wind or Conqueror healing more bulk is always appreciated!

Once during each of your turns when you hit a creature with an attack, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. If they fail the target is frightened of you until the end of your next turn, as they should be!

And you’re immune to the frightened condition, for it’s your foes that should fear you!

You can transform a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Of course as a Warlock you get Spellcasting as well. You learn two cantrips from the Warlock list: Sword Burst will let you Cull the Meek around you, and Toll the Dead is a ranged attack that isn’t Eldritch Blast! (Put simply Toll the Dead makes far more sense for Renekton. He doesn’t normally have a ranged attack to begin with so be thankful I’m ever giving him a ranged option.)

Armor of Agathys will serve as Thornmail to both increase your survivability and damage foes, and Hellish Rebuke will let you retaliate if anyone dares to hit you hard enough to feel it!

LEVEL 7 - WARLOCK 2

Second level Warlocks get Eldritch Invocations and Ascendant powers. You’re going to get Concentration spells eventually so Eldritch Mind is good to pretend that you’re Xerath, but we’ll be leaving our other invocation empty for a bit.

You also learn another spell: Expeditious Retreat gives dashes to those who didn’t wish to be an Orc, as I am obliged to do so.

LEVEL 8 - WARLOCK 3

Third level Warlocks get to choose their Pact Boon and you a sworn to the blade, hence make a Pact of the Blade for a magic weapon! Speaking of said weapon take the Improved Pact Weapon invocation now to make that weapon a +1 (unless you already have a +1 weapon in which case I dunno. You’re going to swap this out in 2 levels anyways.)

You can also learn second level spells now like Misty Step. Good ol’ Flash!

LEVEL 9 - WARLOCK 4

4th level Warlocks get an Ability Score Improvement: you’re still a Fighter first and foremost, so more Strength would let you swing that axe hard!

4th level also means another spell, and another cantrip! For your leveled spell take Hold Person to stun a foe (or two!) before butchering them, and... fiiine. You can take Eldritch Blast.

LEVEL 10 - WARLOCK 5

5th level Warlocks get more Eldritch Invocations, and veterans of this Tumblr will know one thing: I really like Eldritch Smite! Look it’s just the easiest way to give Renekton an on-hit stun, though the extra damage definitely didn’t hurt. But if you want to hurt more I’d suggest replacing Improved Pact Weapon with Cloak of Flies for Dominus’ damage aura effect.

And since we got a rage-induced Ruthless Predator, how about a rage-induced Cull the Meek? Vampiric Touch will give you some lifesteal for tougher teamfights.

LEVEL 11 - WARLOCK 6

6th level Warlocks are Grave Touched, which I’m again going to reflavor as Ascendant Touched. Regardless if your brother locks you in a dark room you won’t need to eat, drink, or breathe in there. But more importantly you can turn any attack you make into Necrotic damage to get around resistances, and if you’re in your Form of Dread you can roll one additional damage die when dealing Necrotic damage. Remember how you’re using a Greataxe? That means your hits will be doing 2d12 damage!

You can also learn one last spell so how about even more damage? Spirit Shroud will make your attacks do an extra d8 damage, and has a nice added bonus of slowing people down near you.

You can also maybe replace some of your old first level spells, notably Expeditious Retreat which isn’t that useful. Look Phantom Steed isn’t really in-character but it’s still a super cool spell that doesn’t get enough appreciation.

Disregard this part if Van Richten’s cut Phantom Steed from the Undead patron. I’d be sad if they did, but...

LEVEL 12 - FIGHTER 6

6th level Fighters get Ability Score Improvements instead of class features. I’ve kinda ignored that uneven Constitution score of yours so grab the good ol’ Durable feat for +1 to your Constitution and more healing with your hit die!

LEVEL 13 - FIGHTER 7

7th level Rune Knights have to pretend to care about their minions. When another creature you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack roll, you can use your reaction to create a Runic Shield and force the enemy to reroll. Fun fact: this isn’t Disadvantage, so technically you can turn a regular hit into a crit. Just an interesting note. Regardless you can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

You also get another Rune Carver option: the Hill option gives you advantage on saving throws against poison and resistance against poison damage. You can invoke the rune to resist bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage for 1 minute. See, this is why we didn’t take Barbarian levels! You’re allowed to Rage as classes other than Barbarian!

LEVEL 14 - FIGHTER 8

8th level Fighters get another Ability Score Improvement... or Feat. The Great Weapon Master Feat is always good to do big rage-filled damage! GWM has two effects: if you crit or reduce an enemy to 0 health you can make an additional attack as a Bonus Action. But more importantly you can choose to reduce your hit chance by 5 to add a whopping +10 to the damage of an attack with a heavy weapon (such as a Greataxe!) We’ve been stacking a ton of damage modifiers so an extra +10 will really "Shred their fragile bodies!"

LEVEL 15 - FIGHTER 9

Level 9 Fighters pack QSS, and can use Indomitable to reroll a failed saving throw once per Long Rest.

LEVEL 16 - FIGHTER 10

10th level Rune Knights stand at a Great Stature of Ascension. Your height increases! ...Oh and I suppose Giant’s Might now does a d8 of damage.

You do also get another Rune option from Rune Carver. The Storm rune lets invoke some of your brother’s knowledge for advantage on Arcana checks and the inability to be surprised. You can also invoke the rune for 1 minute to be able to spend your advantage to give someone advantage or disadvantage on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. In short you can almost guarantee success in combat, or even outside of combat! "The slaughter will never end!"

LEVEL 17 - FIGHTER 11

What’s better than one Extra Attack? Two Extra Attacks! Swing your axe three times or six times with Action Surge!

LEVEL 18 - FIGHTER 12

12th level Fighters get another Ability Score Improvement. I could take the Charger feat for those who didn’t opt for Orc to give you Slice and Dice... or I could increase your Charisma for stronger Warlock features.

LEVEL 19 - FIGHTER 13

13th level Fighters get a second use of Indomitable per Long Rest for twice the QSS!

LEVEL 20 - FIGHTER 14

Our final level is the 14th level of Fighter for one last Ability Score Improvement! You can cap off your Charisma to make Hold Person and Cloak of Flies all the more deadly, or you could grab a feat like Tough for more health. Honestly by total level 20 it’s up to you what you do.

FINAL BUILD

PROS

I will spare no one! - So let’s do a quick tally of how much damage you can do in one turn: with no abilities you can already do up to 3d12 + 15 damage... but now let’s add Great Weapon Master for an additional 30 damage. And we can then add Giant’s Might for an additional d8 of damage. Then there’s Grave Touched to double your d12s while in Form of Dread. And finally we can add Spirit Shroud for an additional 3d8. This means that with all your abilities active you can do a grand total of 6d12 + 4d8 + 45 damage. If we average that out you are doing about 107 damage every turn. This doesn’t even account for your Fire Rune or your Action Surge! All that Fury’s gotta go somewhere!

All will suffer as I have! - Despite not investing too heavily into Constitution you’ve got enough bulk to shake a stick at. Heavy armor is always good for keeping your insides inside, and you have many different ways to bulk yourself up between Form of Dread, Second Wind, and the Hill rune. Not to mention that d10 hit die means you can easily have around 160 health.

What? Do I have someone in my teeth? - You’re not a skill monkey by a long shot but your runes do augment your abilities quite a bit, notably your +11 to Intimidation having permanent Advantage thanks to the Frost rune. Renekton can be the perfect character if you want to play the bad cop!

CONS

Destruction approaches - Big damage is nice and all but it takes awhile to build up all that Fury. It takes up to 4 Bonus Actions to activate all your abilities (Giant’s Might, Form of Dread, Spirit Shroud, Cloak of Flies) and additional Bonus Actions to activate most of your Runes.

I'll leave them in pieces! - “Running on fumes” is an understatement. Almost everything you do is tied to limited resources that only come back after a Long Rest, and while you probably won’t need to activate Giant’s Might or Form of Dread more than once per combat you’ve still likely got 6 fights max to go all out.

You are not my brother, traitor! - Dumping mental stats doesn’t exactly help you when dealing with issues outside of martial combat. Your skill checks are low and your saving throws aren’t much better. You’re just an Enchantment spell away from turning on everyone you once cared for.

But a blood bath takes awhile. Battle is constant and you relish every second of it! Cut down armies with a single swing of your axe and keep fighting until you find the one who took everything away from you! Maybe you can remember a little something when you find them...

The Rebel’s Ascension

Solas is now on his way to the Sonallium to see an old friend. I polished the descriptions and dialog and added more elven lore stuff during revision. I’m quite happy with the result. I hope you have a wonderful time reading this chapter.

Chapter Seven: Dirthamen’s Offer

-3,700 Ancient

The Sonallium was, like the Vir Dirthara, a wonder all of its own. Although it was possible to move freely through its cavern-like halls and corridors, the edifice was locked away in a sphere that tied it closely to the magic of the Beyond. In a way, it was like an eidolon that had been trapped with rune markings to never vanish. Everyone within the sphere needed to maintain a contemplative state of mind that was close to daydreaming at all times to gain access to everything the Sonallium had to offer.

Sylaise had dreamed up the Sonallium as a gift for June when he had asked for her hand in marriage. It was supposed to be the perfect home, a place for them and their protégés to craft new marvels and to retreat to when the hard work of the day was done. And Sylaise had seen to it that every hall was welcoming and comfortable as possible. Even the small nooks between the mighty columns that supported the arched ceiling in every hallway had been outfitted with blankets and cushions. Thick carpets, curtains, and wall hangings took away the coldness of the bare stone from which the Sonallium had been crafted. Instead of direct sunlight, most chambers and hallways were illuminated with the warm light of countless fires that burned in golden braziers clinging to the walls.

And then there was the smithy.

It was the largest hall of the Sonallium and was located at the sphere’s center. Within lay hundreds of forges that gave off enough heat to supply the entire Sonallium with warmth. Yet, every forge was separated from the others with metal screens to provide the smiths and their spirit assistants with some privacy while the runes carved into the stone floors swallowed most of the noise produced by their labor.

Solas stood on a walkway overseeing the hall and took a moment to regard the people working. The air was heavy with the scent of their sweat and blood as they poured their heart and soul into their work. Delving deeper into Beyond, Solas felt their emotions tugging at his awareness. He sensed diligence, devotion, but also anxiety. Then he heard the crack of a whip echoing through the chamber like distant thunder and shuddered.

“Follow me, please,” said the spirit of duty that had been sent to greet Solas when he had entered the Sonallium through an eluvian. It waited impatiently a few paces away at the top of a staircase that led down into the hall.

 “Of course,” Solas said and went to meet the spirit. “I’m sorry.”
