-Chapter 5-
Working things out.
---
The wind rustled the trees and cooled your heated cheeks. You sucked in a shaky breath, the wooden step you were using as a seat creaked under your weight.
Bucky was a wolf.
The shock had melted into a soft acceptance. It had shaken everything you had ever known, yet you wished you hadn't sent him away.
And just as the thought crossed your mind, the rustling grew more prominent. You squinted, your eyes adjusting to the blackness that was the woods, finding an all too familiar wolf looking right back at you.
"Bucky," you called, feeling comforted by his presence. You walk towards the gate. "You shouldn't be here. It's late."
The large animal gave a chuff of a sound, like a scoff. You could practically hear Bucky making the exact same noise.
The magnificent creature rose to it's full height, easily clearing the height of your gate with a woosh. For the first time, you were up close and personal.
His fur glimmered in the moonlight that peeked through the leaves. You were unable to deny the desire to reach out and run your fingers through the soft coat.
Bucky made a noise of approval, easing onto his belly. You bit your lip to contain a smile, but he nudged you with his head, making you stumble back with a laugh. The moment of distraction was all he needed to change back.
"You're naked," you squeaked, spinning around so your back was to him.
"Sorry," he said, not so apologetically. You could hear the smirk in his voice. "You can turn back now. You're lucky I thought to bring pants this time around, normally I don't."
You roll your eyes, taking in his still bare chest that was scarred all over. The prosthetic arm was marred beyond belief where the skin met the metal and you noticed him shift uncomfortably under your gaze.
"I didn't- I didn't mean to stare," you whispered.
"It's okay," he rumbled, his voice warm and, oddly, it soothed your frayed nerves.
You moved closer to him, peeking up at him. "I'm sorry that I made you leave earlier."
His gaze was unwavering. "You should never apologize for following your instinct."
"How come your arm stays on?" you asked curiously, unable to control the urge to reach out out and touch the metal. It was cool under your fingertips.
"We are not sure."
"We?" Your mind flashed to the other guy you met. What was his name? ... Sam. Was he a wolf too?
"There are several of us. We live in a pack." His voice faltered as you reached to trace the raised, angry flesh where the metal met his shoulder. He stiffened and you pulled back so your fingertips were just ghosting over him.
"That looks like it hurts," you murmured. "Are you okay?"
You felt him smile, and he tentatively curled his flesh hand around your waist. You smiled too, unable to deny the warmth.
"It's an old wound, sweetheart. Looks worse then it is," his husky voice soothed. "I still have a lot to tell you. Can we talk?"
You nodded, happy to have a second chance to hear him out.
He trailed behind you as you stepped into the warm house.
"I might have a tee that'll fit you, if you'd like," you offer gently, seeing how he was uncomfortable just a moment before. You didn't give him a chance to answer, tossing him an oversized, worn shirt.
He studied it curiously, "Is this a men's?"
You bit your lip to contain a smile, easing onto your couch. "Yeah, but I bought it. It's comfy."
His frown eased as he shrugged it on. "Wolves have mates, y/n. A Soul-mate, a pre- destined life partner."
You felt a thickness grip your throat as you struggled to come to terms with the new information. You liked Bucky, but if he already had someone out there for him...
"You're my mate."
It took a moment for the words to register. You met his gaze, and he reached for your hand.
"I am?" The words were a quiet flutter and his features brightened into a gentle smile. He ran a finger down your cheek.
"I know it's a lot. I understand if you still need time to process it."
"It is a lot," you confirm. "but it also makes a lot of sense."
"It does?" He shifted closer to you, his breath fanning your cheek.
Your eyes fluttered in anticipation and you gave a hum of agreement. "I didn't understand why I felt so comfortable with you. We haven't known each other that long."
"No, we haven't. And there's still so much we don't know about each other."
You could tell he was holding back something, pain crossed his blue eyes before he masked it to the normal, guarded stare.
"We have plenty of time to get to know each other," you eased, reaching for his hand. His lips quirked up and you smiled back.
----
I'm so sorry this took so long. This has been in the drafts forever - I didn't really know where to go with this. If you have any suggestions for the series please feel free to drop them. I hate waiting on long updates so thank you for being patient with me.

Tumblr media
    “May I draw you again?”
Your words ring clear in the lull of the morning, Eskel being the only other person in the kitchen with you. You’ve gotten up early, intent on making breakfast for the Witchers. You’d not been up longer than five minutes before Eskel joined you, wrapping an arm around your waist and placing a lingering kiss to your cheek before sitting at one of the benches at the table.
The pot of kasha steams and bubbles over the fire as you ladle two bowls full, bringing them over to the table as you speak. At your words, Eskel’s eyes shoot to yours, fingers clenching on nothing in particular. You set a bowl in front of him before sitting on the other side of the table, facing him as you sprinkle some dried fruits into your breakfast.
Eskel stares into his bowl, mixing some molasses into his kasha with a bit more ferocity than necessary. You let him ponder your question, gently blowing on the first spoonful of your meal as you tuck in.
“Did-” he clears his throat before starting again, “Did you have anything specific in mind?”
“Actually, yes, but only if it was alright with you,” you whisper, not wanting to wake the others up before you could actually make your request. Ever since that first kiss that you shared, you’ve been unable to keep this idea from your mind.
Eskel’s eyes are still glued to the bowl, absentmindedly running his thumb over a groove in the table as he mulls over your words. “How is it you want to draw me?” His voice is low and gravelly, but you can’t tell if it’s from having just woken up or nervousness.
“Well,” you start, pushing away your now-empty bowl, “I know how important your wolf medallion is, and I want to highlight that with you wearing it,”
Eskel’s brows furrow, his head tilting down to glance at the metal circle that hangs from his neck. “Okay...seems easy enough-”
    “Wearing only the medallion.”
Eskel’s golden eyes dart back to yours, a deep flush settling across the high planes of his cheeks. His spoon stills, halfway between the bowl and his mouth before he drops it, landing back in the bowl with a loud clatter. At the noise, he blinks back to himself, his hand coming up to scratch at the scars on his face.
“Can-can I think about it?” he murmurs, not fully comfortable but intrigued nonetheless.
“Of course, darling, I’d never want to push you into something that you didn’t want to do,” your words reassure him as footsteps sound from across the keep. Eskel pushes away his now-abandoned breakfast, deep in thought as you rise to clean up.
When you return, all of the other wolves have gathered around the table, Lambert sliding up to sit next to Eskel with a bowl of his own. Geralt’s hair is wild with sleep, and Vesemir sips from a steaming mug as he works on waking to a reasonable state. Here, in the safety of the keep, the witchers can afford to fully rest and take their time in lounging as the sun rises.
You rest a hand on Eskel’s shoulder before coasting onto the bench beside him, nodding a greeting to Geralt as he reaches for the molasses. Eskel turns his head to you, meeting your eyes as he stares deep into them. He smiles, something fleeting between heartbeats, before leaning to whisper in your ear.
    “I’ll do it.”
    …
That evening, you’re setting up the different materials that you’ve collected throughout the day. Your journal and pencils rest on your bed as you work, draping several thick furs over the cold stone floor in front of the fire. There is no moon tonight, only the stars twinkling in the sky as they wait in anticipation.
As the last fur hits the ground you stand, hands on your hips as you consider if there’s anything else you’ll need. The room is silent, save for the occasional crackling of the fire, and you jump a bit when there is a sudden knock at the door.
You cross the room, your light skirt just barely drifting along the floor. You typically wear trousers around the keep, since they’re much warmer and easier to work in, but the skirt is less restrictive, fluttering and flowing around your legs. The door opens with a low creak, revealing Eskel standing behind it. His broad form takes up most of the doorway, but at least he has foregone the heavy armor and swords that are almost always strapped to his back.
You smile, stepping back into the room and gesture for Eskel to follow. He does, gently closing the door behind him and kicking his boots off by the table before joining you in front of the fire. His hands are cool in yours as you take them, running your fingers over his knuckles as you look into his eyes. He’s nervous, you can tell, but you can also see the budding excitement that lies contained just below the surface.
“You’re sure that you’re okay with this?” you ask, your voice soft and soothing.
“Mhm,” Eskel nods, leaning down to place a sweet kiss to your lips. You smile into it, squeezing his hands in your own as you pull back.
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, dear,” you reach to his waist and untuck the light shirt from his trousers. The fabric is soft and well worn, comfortable to even the barest touch. You reach to undo the buttons at the neck, letting the edges fall away and reveal little glimpses of tanned skin. You fit your fingers under the hem and lift, raising the shirt over his head as he slides out of it. You carefully fold it up, taking your time as you place it on the edge of the bed.
You turn around, your eyes roving Eskel’s newly exposed chest as he watches you. You let yourself look, taking in the swell of his arms, the breadth of his shoulders, the dark dusting of hair over his skin, lingering only slightly on a particularly painful-looking scar that sits just below his sternum. You cross the room back to him, running your hands up his arms as you feel the muscles beneath twitch under your fingers. You admire the medallion, bright silver raised in the shape of a wolf’s head. You kiss the skin right next to it, Eskel’s chest pushing into your touch as he takes in a deep breath.
You straighten up, letting your fingers skirt along the band of his trousers. Your eyes flick up to his for permission, smiling to yourself as he nods for you to continue.
“Red is a good color on you,” you murmur, deftly undoing the bright ties on his codpiece. He huffs out a laugh, his smile easy and soft under your watch. You slip your hands down, pulling the now loosened trousers to the floor as you kneel. Eskel rests a hand on your shoulder as he steps out of them, letting you slide them out from underneath him.
You turn once more to the bed, folding the garments as you go and placing them with the same care that you had his shirt. When you face him once more, your eyes run up the long planes of his legs, the slight dip of his hip, and the impressive manhood that hid under the not-so-subtle codpiece. You blush a bit when you notice that he is already half-hard, swelling and flushing with the beginnings of his arousal.
As you approach him, you take a moment to thread your hands through his hair with a sweet reverence. Eskel sighs into your touch as you trace the lines and valleys of his face, feeling the slope of his nose and the slightly chapped lips under your fingers. You step back after a moment, fiddling with a loose thread on your blouse to keep your hands busy.
“This alright, love?” Eskel blushes at the pet name, lowering his gaze for a moment before smiling lightly at you.
“I’m fine, it’s a little odd though,” he says, quiet in the sanctuary of the room, “I don’t think I’ve ever felt so...exposed…” His brow furrows as his voice trails off, his gaze vulnerable as you smile back at him.
“Do you want to continue? We’ll stop if you don’t want to-”
“Yes, I mean, yes I want to continue, it’s strange, but a good strange,” Eskel’s voice is strong now, reassuring both of you with his words.
“Well then,” you hum, “let’s get started.” There is a cushiony chair in the corner of the room and you move over to it, pulling it back to sit at an angle just off parallel to the fireplace. “Eskel, could you kneel, almost like you’re meditating? Mostly faced towards me, but angled a little bit away towards the fire please.” Your voice is no more than a whisper as you grab your materials, kicking off your shoes before sitting in the chair as he follows your direction.
Eskel’s eyes flick up to yours as he settles, knees pressing into the soft furs as he rests his hands atop them. The medallion around his neck glints with the light from the fire as he adjusts for a moment, getting comfortable. When he is satisfied, he looks over to you for what to do next.
“My Gods, you are simply gorgeous,” you smile, Eskel preening slightly at your words. “Now, I just want you to relax. This may take a little while, so please, just let me know if you need anything-oh wait, I almost forgot!”
You jump up, grabbing the cup of water that you had brought with you earlier in the evening. You set it at his side, leaving it within reach so that he can grab it with ease. Taking a thin strand of leather, you tie your hair back from your face, a few strands falling down nonetheless. You sit back down in the chair, tucking your feet under you as you flip to a fresh page.
“Eskel, you can close your eyes if it’s better for you, I just want you to be comfortable. Okay, here we go…” You take a deep breath before pressing the pencil to the page, gently marking the outline of his form. You hum lightly as you work, watching as Eskel sits still under your gaze. The fire warms you from the outside as you feel a different warmth bloom from deep within, settling in your core as you begin to add details.
You sit like this for a while, tracing the numerous scars and the lines of his muscles with your pencil. Eskel is relaxed, breathing slowly as you focus on the medallion. You take your time here, smudging and erasing the harsh lines to fade into a better representation of the decades of wear that it has seen. You move up and down his body on the page, shading and highlighting every inch of his skin with as much reverence as you would if you were actually touching him.
You watch as Eskel’s chest rises with a deep breath in through his nose, almost growling as he exhales. His cock throbs in his lap, now fully hard and leaking onto his hip. He murmurs your name and you hum in response, using the opportunity to focus on capturing the way his length bends upward slightly at the end.
“You smell delicious,” your gaze flicks up, catching him looking over at you. He is still in exactly the same position, but his eyes are open and boring into you, golden flames stoking the fire in your core.
“Patience, love,” you chide, smiling as you consider that you could really be speaking to either of you at this point. “I’m almost finished…”
Eskel smirks, his eyes falling closed as he takes another deep breath. You shake your head, now determined to complete this quickly. You stop and start back a few times, looking over the picture for mistakes and making small adjustments as you find them.
Finally satisfied, you rise from the chair and cross to the table by the door. You set down your journal and pencils, releasing your hair from its tie before turning back to Eskel. He is still kneeling on the floor, his eyes open once more and tracking your every move.
“Will you let me see it?” he asks, turning his head slightly towards you as you slink to his side. You stand over him, watching as he raises his eyes to look directly at you. They are clouded with lust, his hesitance and shame having been washed away by your worship of him.
“Hmm,” you ponder out loud, “I could, but Gods, I want to touch you so badly…” You lean down and fit the tip of one of your fingers under his chin, tracing the line of his jaw as you sink to meet him. You thread your fingers through the silk of his hair, bringing them down to rest at the back of his neck as you pull him to you.
Your lips meet in a sweet, soft caress before swelling into something bigger, more powerful as Eskel steals your breath. You move as a push and pull of the tides, each keeping the other steady as your hands become desperate. Eskel licks into your mouth, sweeping you into his embrace as you feel his hand start to undo the ties of your skirt. It floats to the ground, pooling around you as he lifts your chemise.
His hands are rough against the soft skin of your abdomen, but he moves with such grace that it’s insignificant. Your lips part only for the time it takes for the chemise to be lifted from your head before you surge back into Eskel’s grasp. His hands quickly find the ties to your underclothes, but he fumbles blindly with the knots. You laugh into his mouth when he growls in frustration, finally choosing to just rip them off of you. A fresh wave of arousal surges through you when you are finally, blissfully, bare before him, pressing as much skin into him as you can.
You fling your clothes off of the rugs, leaving them to be picked up in the morning. You have far better things to concern yourself with at the moment, pushing Eskel’s shoulders back to have him lay on the furs as you straddle his hips. His hands move all over you, touching everywhere he can reach, glancing up your thighs, over your hips, pressing across your breasts, grabbing you by the hands and pulling you down, capturing your lips once more.
He nips at the bottom lip before shifting his weight, bracing one of his feet on the floor before twisting, flipping the both of you so that you lie on the floor, caged in his arms. You laugh freely, the sound turning swiftly into a moan as Eskel brings his hand to cup your cunt.
“My Gods,” he sighs, “you’re dripping,”
“Mmm, only for you, darling,” you hum as his fingers move up and down the length of your slit, your legs falling open as he moves downward. Eskel takes his time, kissing and licking along your skin before laying on the floor with his head between your legs. Your nerves are singing under your skin, rising and falling in hums of pleasure that reverberate through your bones. He kisses along the inside of one of your thighs, climbing up, up, finally finding the peak of your core and suckling the little bundle of nerves. Your hands tangle in his hair as you moan, the sound low and deep and pressed through gritted teeth as he slowly sinks two of his fingers into you.
He hums against you, licking and thrusting and pushing and holding and taking, leaving you with barely a breath to tide you over. Your hips rock unbidden, chasing a pleasure that only they know the path to. You watch Eskel, his eyes glazed over, fucked out on the taste of you, his hips rutting against the ground in time with his fingers in your cunt.
“Oh gods, please, Eskel, please,” you babble, words turning incoherent as he brushes just the smallest glance of teeth against you. He groans, sending you soaring into an abyss of stars that burn too bright and noise that is deafening in its silence. Your thighs shake and your core clenches around Eskel’s fingers as he coaxes through your climax.
You sink down into the furs, finding his hand at your waist and threading your fingers together as you whisper, “Oh, Eskel,”
He falls apart, growling into you as his hips falter, his hand squeezing yours as his release takes over. He thrusts a few times more, spilling between his body and the furs as he holds you tight. Eskel gasps against your core, his lips shiny with the evidence of your arousal. His grip relaxes as he comes down, breathing deeply as he rises to his knees. He is still hard, his own spend dripping down his chest as he looms above you. You reach up, tracing a line through it, feeling him clench as you do. You bring your hand to your mouth and suck his spend from your fingers.
“Fuck,” Eskel says, leaning down to kiss you. Instinctively, you wrap your legs around his waist as you taste your own arousal on his mouth. He is heavy atop you, the weight of him enveloping you as you thrust your hips gently towards his. You pull back, panting as you feel the tip of his cock against your folds.
“Please, Eskel, don’t make me beg,” you murmur into his lips. He hums in response, looking down as he takes his length in his hand to align himself. His mahogany hair tickles your forehead as he leans against you, slowly pressing into your core. Your fingers grasp for purchase on the thickest parts of his arms, your nails digging in as he stretches you wide. It’s almost too much, dancing the line between pain and pleasure.
But when he pulls back, only to thrust into you again just a little bit faster, you can’t help that your legs push against his back, forcing him deeper inside of you as your hips rise to meet him. Your breaths intermingle in the space between you, filled with praise and begging for more, more, his cock spearing, nudging the bundle of nerves nestled deep in your core with every snap of his hips.
“Oohh, yes, Eskel, right there, keep going, just like that,” your voice is husky in the night, stars drifting from their place in the sky to line your words. Eskel pushes himself up, gripping your hips with an insurmountable strength and holding you steady as he fucks into you. Your back arches with the new angle, feeling every move that he makes in a way that drowns out everything from existence. All you know in this moment is Eskel, the bright, shining moon that was missing from your sky.
“Fuck, I’m-I’m gonna…” Eskel groans as his thrusts turn sloppy, the sound of skin on skin echoing around the room.
“Go on, take your pleasure in me, let me have it,” you grip his hand where it rests once more and he roars, spending deep inside of you, his cock throbbing against the most sensitive spot over and over and over, and all of that sends you spiraling in your own peak with him. Your bones sing, simultaneously feeling everything and nothing as you hurtle through an endless night. Eskel comes and comes, his climax taking over all of his senses, his spend dripping past the tight seal of his cock in your cunt and dripping down onto the furs.
As the stars return to their place in the sky you smile, pulling him down to kiss him, humming against his mouth. He pulls out of you, a small whine crawling out of your chest with the emptiness. Eskel kneels next to you, fitting his arms beneath your knees and your back as he swiftly rises, cradling you in his grasp as he carries you to the bed. He sets you down gently, laughing as you keep your hands locked around his neck and try to pull him in after you.
“Hang on a moment, love, I just want to grab something,” he pads away and you get comfortable, yanking the blanket up and nuzzling into it, accidentally kicking Eskel’s clothes off of the bed in your haste. When Eskel returns to your side, he climbs into the bed beneath the blanket, pulling you close as he fits his nose just beneath your ear. He inhales, moaning softly as he relaxes into your arms.
“You always smell so nice,” he whispers, light and sweet in your ear. He pulls back, letting you curl around his side as he holds you close. You rest your head on his chest, reaching for the journal that he has clasped in his free hand. Eskel opens it, flipping to the most recent page. You feel him tense up just a bit beneath you, his heartbeat quickening ever so slightly as he regards the drawing on the parchment.
“I-I don’t know what to say, I just...thank you,” his words rumble through his chest, thick with emotion that he still doesn’t really know what to do with. You tilt your head up, looking into his golden eyes that are shiny with unshed tears.
“You don’t have to say anything, I know,” you murmur, letting him hold you close as the stars twinkle and fade in the early morning light, content in their witness to worship.

a/n: So i just needed to tell you that I also briefly considered using this infamous photo as a reference for Eskel’s pose, but I couldn’t write it without laughing hysterically so I went with this instead XD

The morning after the change is always the same.
You wake in an empty bed, fingers dancing across the bed sheets to find the warmth of Jungkook’s body beside you, only instead, to find abandoned, cold linens where he was the night before.
Sighing heavily, you force yourself out of said bed, and glance at the clock on the nightstand.
Five AM.
The red numbers blink back at you through the muted darkness of the still wakening sky-barely penetrating through the thick, cold fogged window panes of the cabin-as you shiver in the suddenly cool air of the bedroom.
Leaving the deserted bedroom, you make your way to the living room, where a fire still manages to crackle weakly in the hearth from the night before. Throwing in some more wood to bank the flames, you sit down on the old sofa, reaching blindly for your boots that you had discarded before bed, blinking sleep from your bleary eyes.
Lacing up the boots, you stand-stretching your arms above your head-and head toward the door, where you take your already prepared backpack from the hook, and sling it across your shoulders. Reaching for your heavy knit beanie and slouching it low over your ears, you grab the flashlight and truck keys from the kitchen table, the last supplies you’ll need in your search for Jungkook.
“Scout.” You whistle between your teeth, calling the dog’s name in a low, husky voice-still laced with sleep-and immediately, the large dog, curled in a blanket beside the fire, is at your side, looking up at you with bright alert eyes and tongue lolling.
You let your fingers trace across the mutt’s head-soft fur comforting beneath your fingertips for a moment-and then give him one last pat, before you open the door to the frigid, early morning, outside world and say, “Let’s go find dad.”
*******
The large plot of national forest that lies behind the cabin is not hard to navigate, crisscrossed by long, dirt roads and hiking trails that carve into the underbrush and disappear into the thick glen of trees that cover the hillside.
And for someone like you-who has been driving the trails in the same old pickup for years-the forest holds a certain comforting, familiarity in the early morning light of the dawn.
You turn the truck down one of the better worn roads that leads into the deep forest, ending in a glen against the sharp, steep crannies of the hillside, and let your hands go on autopilot as you steer the vehicle back toward the mountainside.
For someone claiming that “the wolf” is nothing more than a wild animal, Jungkook always seems to pick the same, easily accessible spot for you to find him the morning after.
As you pull the truck into the clearing, lurching it to a stop and shutting off the engine-the sudden quiet around you a little chilling-you reach up to finger the large, silver cross that rests between your breasts, hidden away under the material of your coat.
The cross that JK always insists you wear-day and night-when you’re around him.
For protection.
Shaking out of your thoughts, you reach for the door handle, as an excited Mac clambers over you, eager to be out of the truck and into the clearing first, his nose already twitching with all the smells and new things to discover.
“Get down, you daft dog.” You complain, shoving the dog’s large body off of you, as he bounds outward into the clearing, happily peeing on trees and following natural scents through the grass.
Tugging on the strap of the backpack, you exit the truck, slamming the door shut behind you, as you let out a long, low exhale into the cold, morning air, your breath turning frosty as soon as it passes the warmth of your lips.
Suddenly, Mac barks loudly, and you glance in his direction, just as Jungkook steps out from behind one of the larger trunked trees.
He walks toward you-full, bronze skinned, muscular body on display-and you wonder, just briefly as you shiver violently in your heavy coat, like you do every month, how he’s not freezing his ass off.
“Took you long enough.” He shoots you a playful smirk as he reaches you, hand still resting on the top of the very excited Mac’s head as he does circles around his master’s legs.
“Yeah, yeah.” You grumble good naturedly, the repetitive teasing making you hide a smile, as you reach into the backpack and toss him a set of clothes. “Just put your clothes on.”
He grins, but does as he’s told, swiftly pulling the hoodie over his head and then the sweat pants, the toned muscles of his young, supple body disappearing beneath the fabric, as he reaches up to rustle a hand through his thick, dark hair.
You have already retreated to the truck, with the heater full blasting, and opening the passenger door, Jungkook lets Mac hop into the middle seat, before he slides in himself, glancing over at you mischievously, as you shift into gear and begin to lurch the old truck out of the clearing.
“What?” You question, glancing at him out of the side of your eye, as you push Mac down so you can see him better. You stick your tongue out at him, trying to keep your focus on the road. “Why are you staring at me, Jungkook?”
He sighs dramatically, resting his cheek on the heel of his hand as he leans against the door, before he says, “Listen, baby. You look good enough to eat. Don’t get me wrong.” He flashes you a smug smile, as you roll your eyes. “However.” He reaches for the backpack and begins to dig through the remaining contents. “I’m starving. Did you bring any food?”
You roll your eyes once more, and direct him to the granola bars.
*******
The next month, things are far from normal.
“What the hell were you thinking, (Y/N)?” Jungkook yells out, as soon as you park the truck and step foot into the clearing.
Your hands go to your hips, and you suddenly feel defensive, as his looming, angry figure stalks you down, coming to a stop in front of you.
“I was thinking-” You huff out, throwing his clothes at him angrily, as you take a step closer to him, fingers digging into your sides in a vain attempt to quell your frustration. “That you were in trouble!”
“No, no.” He shakes his head furiously, his mop of dark hair appearing once more as he pulls the hoodie over his head, and his eyes meet yours, dark and swirling and stormy. You have never seen Jungkook look this angry before. “You thought the wolf was in trouble.”
“Jungkook!” You throw your hands up into the air out of exasperation. “You are the wolf!”
“No!” He barks out, stunning you into silence with the harshness of his tone, as Mac whimpers and cowers at your feet. “No.” He repeats again, softer this time, as he lets out a long breath through parted lips. “The wolf is a wild, unpredictable creature, (Y/N). It’s not me, and I’m not it. And I can’t guarantee it won’t hurt you.”
The sudden fear that crosses Jungkook’s dark, wide eyes is enough to make your anger drain away, and you swallow hard, reaching up almost unconsciously to finger the silver cross hidden beneath your sweatshirt.
His eyes follow the movement, and he reaches out, cupping your cold cheek in his hand, as he murmurs softly, fervently, “I need you to trust me on this, okay baby?” He reaches out to lay his free hand over your fingers, the cool silver of the cross pressed deeper into your skin at his touch. “I need to keep you safe. And this is the only way I can do that.”
You watch him for a moment, and then sigh. “Okay. I’m sorry, Jungkook.”
“Good.” He nods, before pulling you to him, enveloping you in the warmth of his arms and his broad chest that rests beneath your cheek, his heartbeat loud and steady in your ears.
You fight with yourself for a moment, but then the words leave your mouth without control. “But, the howl I heard sounded like it was incredibly pained and I was worried and I left without thinking.....”
Jungkook’s cheek is heavy as it rests on the top of your head, and his arms tighten around your waist at your words, and when he speaks, his voice is cool, “Baby, don’t worry about the wolf. It can take care of itself. Okay?” He pulls you back from him to make sure you nod in response, and then he says, tone slightly dangerous, “My only priority is your safety. And it always will be. You have my word.”
*******
And then, the next night of the change, Jungkook is forced to prove his promise.
You are awoken from sleep by the sound of Mac, barking loudly at the front door.
“Mac!” You hiss between your teeth, as you pull a blanket around your shoulders and hurry down the hallway, bumping blindly into walls as you struggle to maneuver in the cabin in the blackness.
You reach the front door, where the large dog is barking and growling, and your fingers connect with the leather of his collar, as you struggle to pull against his strength.
“Mac! Stop it!” You berate in a whisper, trying-and failing-to pull the suddenly frenzied dog away from the door and whatever he hears outside.
And then, in a lull between his loud barks, you hear what has startled him into such a state.
Your hands go numb on his collar, and your efforts to quiet him stutter to a halt, as you hear the sound of wolves fighting-close by-and then-
That’s Jungkook’s howl.
“Mac! Move!” You shriek out, suddenly finding strength to push the large animal to the side, as you fumble for the handle of the shotgun that hangs on the wall above the front door, and stumble against the handle, tumbling outside as the door opens suddenly.
You realize, as the cold, frosty wood of the front porch hits your bare feet, that you haven’t bothered to put on shoes, or a coat, or even change out of the pjs you had put on the night before.
None of that matters.
Fingers chilling on the icy metal of the shotgun, your feet move of their own accord down the chilled front steps and onto the frost covered grass, as your hands, without thinking, begin to fumble in the dark to load and cock the shotgun.
Your eyes-still hazed over from sleep-begin to focus, and you see the cause of the commotion, as Mac continues to bark from the landing of the cabin.
Two large wolves-one black, one gray-are circling each other at the edge of the woods, teeth bared, saliva dripping, eyes flashing with rage and fury, as snarls erupt from their throats.
The shotgun cocks into position, just as the gray wolf leaps onto the black, sending them both tumbling to the ground in a flurry of indiscernible claws and teeth and growls.
“Shit.” You say under your breath, your voice shaky-whether from fear or cold- as your now numb fingers drop the shotgun down from your line of sight for a brief moment. “I can’t shoot. I’ll hit Jungkook.”
The wolves break apart once more, and you notice, with a sudden pang, that the black wolf seems to be injured, limping heavily on one paw, dark, crimson blood weeping down an open wound in its shoulder.
You could have tried to shoot then, you should have, and yet, every fiber in your body-at the sight of Jungkook’s blood-went into a sort of primal rage, and without thinking, you were dropping the shotgun into the grass and sprinting toward the fighting wolves with bare feet.
“No! Stop!” You yell out, as you barrel in between the two of them, and stand in front of the injured wolf, arms outstretched like some sort of pathetic, protective shield, as your chest heaves, and you stare into the yellow, swirling eyes of the gray wolf standing before you.
It snarls, sharp teeth flashing past red gums-reddened from Jungkook’s blood-and you swallow hard, but stand your ground.
You don’t dare take your eyes off the opposing wolf to look at Jungkook behind you, scared that if you do so, it’ll make a move and you’ll both be taken down.
The gray wolf growls, low under its breath, and you wave your arms once more, exclaiming loudly, trying to keep the trembling from your words, “Get out of here! Leave us alone! Go!”
You feel as if it’s an eternity-looking into the yellow, slit eyes of the huge wolf-but finally, it flashes it’s teeth once more, and then turns on it’s heel, trotting off and disappearing into the darkness of the woods.
You wait a good five minutes, just to make sure it’s really gone, and then taking in a deep breath, you turn to look at the black wolf standing behind you.
The wolf-teeth still out and hackles raised-lets out a low growl as you turn to face it, and you hold out a hand, frozen in spot, as you say in a low tone, “Jungkook. It’s me. Let me help you.”
The wolf takes a step back as you take a step toward it, and suddenly, the silver cross you always wear seems to be ice against your skin.
Reaching for the chain, not even bothering to unclasp it, you rip the necklace from around your neck as the wolf watches you warily, and holding it up for Jungkook to see, you toss it into the woods.
You take another step toward him, and this time, he does not step away.
“Jungkook. I know you won’t hurt me.” You murmur carefully, crouching down, as you hold out your spread fingers in his direction. “You’re hurt. Let me help you. Please.”
The wolf cocks it’s head and stares at you intently with dark eyes-so much like Jungkook’s-and its teeth recede behind closed lips as its nose twitches to sniff the air.
“Please.” You repeat, shuffling a little closer, so close that you can feel the wolf’s warm exhales on your fingertips. “I know you’re in there, Jungkook. You wouldn’t hurt me.” You watch him carefully, as the two of you are frozen, inches apart from each other now. “You always promised to protect me. And that’s what you did. You protected me, Jungkook.” Your voice wobbles a bit. “And you got hurt keeping your promise. So please. Let me help.”
There is a thick silence, and several more frozen moments, and then, the wolf noses into your outstretched palm.
You feel as if you can breathe again.
“I knew it was you, Jungkook.” You whisper, suddenly feeling tears in your throat, as your fingers feel his soft, thick winter coat beneath their touch. “Thank you for keeping your promise.”

Of Thorns and Buttercups
~Ch 3/?~
(Beauty and the Beast AU, Kiiiinda. It has definite elements of the original story cause I’m a sap for Fairytale AUs. I hope you enjoy. Also shout out to @sophiakuso1 for being my beta. Here you can find Chapter 1 or Chapter 2) In today’s episode, Geralt wrestles with his feelings... again while Jaskier is his usual charming self. Also there’s magic and enchantment abound much to the witcher’s dismay.
Primary Tags: Beast! Geralt, Belle! Jaskier, Memory Alteration Via Curse, It really only affects Jaskier right now Also on AO3!
————————-
Geralt sat in the quiet wreck of the room just trying to contemplate his current predicament. How he had fallen so far, he didn’t know but he supposed he was always trying to get back to what was supposed to be normal. The thing is, he wasn’t really sure what was normal anymore, much less if he really wanted it. For the longest time, he had known he was supposed to walk the path alone. Then Jaskier walked into his life. After that happened, it seemed like he was cursed for having the bard as a companion. He thought Jaskier needed to leave him so things would just go back to the way they were before, but now that he was gone everything felt wrong. His world kept turning on it’s head every time he thought he had the hang of it and he wasn’t really sure of what he wanted at that point. He supposed there was no point in trying to figure it out now though, everyone was gone and it was decided for him.
He sighed and stood finally, trying to get used to the feeling of his new form. He was certainly bigger, which was saying something. He was also probably much stronger now too but his gait felt weird now that his legs were shaped more akin to a wolf’s. His gaze swept around the room trying to take everything in once more in case there was anything he missed before. Anything that could help him figure out how to break the curse. There was still the cage with the buttercups inside and the ruined furniture but nothing too out of the ordinary. One strange detail however, or lack thereof he supposed, was the absence of the beast’s blood on the ground where it had died. In fact, there wasn’t even a body to be found. It was just gone. The only object left in its place now was a cluster of dried vines with sharp barbs and dead, dried up roses. “...Creepy.” Geralt hummed in agitation. For what had seemed to be only a moderately annoying job at first, it had turned into something far bigger and more troublesome than he had expected. Not to mention it was all because he wanted to get the damned bard back! He realized a moment later that his chest was rumbling in a low growl, strange but not completely foreign. He took a deep breath and let the rising emotions out as a sigh. No. It wasn’t the bard’s fault in any way. If anything, it was his own because he acted horribly and took his frustrations out on the only man, other then the other wolves, who had stayed by his side through thick and thin. Not to mention, he would have most likely taken the job anyway. He was a monster but he wasn’t completely heartless, at least he thought he wasn’t. If he hadn’t yelled on the mountain top, then he’d at least have a companion in this mess. No, he was alone to figure it out. Just like he wished…
He sighed again, pulling himself from his reflections, as he rummaged for anything helpful. It took a few minutes but his work bore fruit in the form of a small worn leather bound journal that had been hidden behind a ripped portrait of a man and a woman. When he went to open it though, the door slowly creaked open. He quietly tucked the small book back into it’s hidey hole and went to investigate. It was later then he realized since the halls were now pitch black from night fall but with his enhanced sight, he could still see pretty far down. The passage was empty, but a curious scent that hadn’t been there prior now faintly drifted down the hall. If there was another beast he was actually supposed to kill lurking about, then he was going to be furious.
He stepped a foot out into the hallway, intending to quietly skulk down the passage to catch whatever thing was still present in the keep, but the sconces on the walls burst to life. A lesser, poorly trained human would have possibly had their heart stop right then and there but the witcher only felt his hackles rise. With a huff of displeasure, Geralt swiftly went down the hall, torches lighting ahead as he went further and extinguishing behind. So… Whatever enchantment that filled the old castle was also directly tied to the curse now on Geralt. He didn’t like it but it wasn’t like it was that surprising. He tracked the foreign scent to the stairs where it branched off in two directions, one faint trail went into the east wing while the other went down to the first floor. Both were barely there, most likely some time had passed since the thing passed through, so he hazarded a guess and went down.
To his disappointment, all he found there was moving furniture in what he assumed was the dining room, slowly setting up what looked to be breakfast. At least now he knew he wouldn’t starve. The furniture didn’t seem alive either per say, but each piece had little quirks as they seemed to be puppeted around by invisible hands. With everything so far, he wasn’t surprised by magical furniture really, just tired and unamused. Jaskier would have found this fucking delightful and the thought made Geralt glare harder at the innocuous objects shifting about. He left back towards the stairs to follow the second trail, grabbing a lantern on the way in hopes that the wall torches wouldn’t light if he carried a source of light with him. He didn’t need to spook whatever it was or give away his position.
His hunch about the lantern proved correct and as he approached a bedroom door, the scent got stronger. His hand paused on the door handle. He realized suddenly that he knew this scent but he couldn’t place it in his mind. Everything smelled so much stronger after he changed, as if the magic made it ten times worse. It felt like he could see the fucking scents drifting in the air. He tried to shrug it off before finally entering the room. The approaching dawn slightly lit the lavish space. The fire was just coals and embers now and the bed had the hangings shut. The scent was thicker the closer he got to the bed, coating the back of his throat, the drapes too thick to see through. He quietly crept around the side and noticed a… lute? Geralt felt his heart quicken before he snatched at the curtains of the bed and pulled them open, confirming the sudden creeping suspicion of who was laying there. His-- The bard that had been hanging heavily over his thoughts for weeks laid there, rumpled and blinking blearily up at him. He couldn’t back the shocked exhaled whisper. “ Jaskier?...”
The bard seemed frozen as he looked upon Geralt and took everything in. The witcher felt uncomfortable as the other observed him as if he were some specimen. Obviously, the man could at least recognize his voice but perhaps his tired brain needed a moment to catch up. The words that followed just further confused the hell out of Geralt though. “Ah, so even magical beasts living in ruins in the middle of nowhere have heard of me!” Geralt flinched at the word beast that was thrown at him but the bard’s proud exclamation soothed the hurt a little with it’s familiarity. It was just like the little idiot to preen about a monster knowing his name but it still flustered Geralt that his voice hadn’t clicked in that cute idiotic brain of his. Wait, cute? “Are you going to kill me?”
The soft concerned words had Geralt’s blood running cold. Kill? Yeah Geralt may have hit Jaskier that one time but he would never-- Did the bard lose all trust in him because of what happened on the mountain? Still! It was a little extreme to think Geralt could ever kill him, much less wound him in any significant way… Then again, hadn’t he? What were harsh lashing words if not another form of hurt. Geralt struggled to find his voice again then. “No, Jask--”
He found his words being cut off all of a sudden before he could finish what he had wanted to say. “Then am I your prisoner?”
The new question had Geralt shaking his head. “No, I--”
Again he found his explanation interrupted, drawing a frustrated growl out of him. “You’re not very beastly or monstrous as one would expect from your appearance.”
Geralt paused a moment to see if the other would continue and when nothing came, he tried once again to speak. “That’s because I’m not--”
“A beast? Oh!” Geralt was seriously reconsidering the no harm thing as the bright voice piped in yet again. “Then I am going to assume you’re either cursed or under some sort of spell! I bet I’m right, I usually have a good eye for these things.” False. “Did you upset the wrong witch? Sleep with her and then her sister? Or was it more of the case that you slept with her intending it only to be a one time thing but you forgot to mention--” The bard was blathering on like his usual self, digging for details for his next song but still something felt off. “-- it was a one time thing? Almost happened to me once. Not at the same time I assure you but on two separate occasions, you know?” Geralt did know. He had had to stop each witch at the time, pulling Jaskier out of the fire just before the idiot got cursed. “Not one of my better moments when I was in the prime of my youth… Can’t for the life of me remember how I got out of those sticky situations though…”
That was the final straw that broke the horses back and sent red flags sailing in Geralt’s mind. Jaskier quite often brought up either or both of those stories around a campfire as he reminisced about the early days of their friendship. It was ridiculous that he couldn’t remember such a big detail of the tale. That meant… maybe the bard really couldn’t remember the sound of Geralt’s voice, much less Geralt himself. That thought unnerved the Witcher more than anything ever had. Maybe the curse was starting to affect him because he was so close to the source. Geralt decided right then that he had to get the man out of there fast. He realized he had been spacing out and Jaskier was already almost completely dressed but still talking. “Anyway, how about I help you break whatever this is and once you’re free, you’ll allow me to turn it into an epic lyrical tale!” He proposed, all flourish and grandeur, but his eyes belied his fragile hopes and wish for companionship. It almost had him accepting but Geralt couldn’t let the other get trapped with him.
So he grunted, shaking his head. “No.” He growled with a deep rumble in his chest, trying to avoid the sight of the bard deflating slightly. Instead, he busied himself by snatching up Jaskier’s pack and lute. When he turned, he found Jaskier in the pose he often struck when he was about to argue and act like a stubborn ox. So Geralt threw him over his shoulder like he weighed nothing. It earned him an indignant squawk which turned into a delighted gasp of “You’re so fluffy and warm!” but he ignored the human’s wiggling in favor of sweeping down the stairs and out of the castle into the gardens. He’d get the bard to leave, even if he had to toss the man into the forest himself. The very idea had a part of him chewing him out and screaming that he was an idiot, but he hushed that part by reminding himself that this was for the best. It’d be safer for the fragile bard if he left, and once Geralt had broken the curse, he would track Jaskier down again so he could actually try and patch things up. His plans, however, stopped in their tracks when he reached where the edge of the forest should have been. Instead, a great wall of thistle and thorn blocked any possible exit, which meant there was no escape now. “Fuck…”
“So about that curse…” Jaskier piped up as Geralt tried to process the new situation they were in. He growled lowly as he set the smaller man back on his feet and shoved his things at him before turning to head back inside. If they were now trapped together, then Geralt wanted to keep to himself and be alone. He couldn’t stand Jaskier looking at him and talking to him as if he were a stranger again. It made something unfamiliar settle in his chest like a weight. The last thing he heard before entering the keep was Jaskier calling after him. “Does this mean I can stay?”

Tony had never been one to stifle Morgan’s curiosity. He encouraged it, in fact, would always act so proud and enamored by his daughter’s adventures when she recounted them at dinner or while they took a walk through the gardens. He loved watching her eyes light up in excitement as she recounted the wizards she watch perform in the city square or the hurried sketches of animals she drew wandering the city’s border.
He had never thought, not once, to set limits to her curiosity.
At least, not until the night she didn’t come home.
Tony rode out along with six search parties, searched every nook and cranny of the royal capital, sending men and women charging through neighboring towns and villages for any sign of his daughter. Houses were upturned, forest homes were trampled, and Tony was ready to wage war in order to find her. He swore that any person who dared to harm a hair on his child’s head would die slowly and painfully in the middle of the town square, an example made of them.
He reluctantly returned to the castle to rest for a search the next day, but he barely slept. Most of the night was spent pacing about the room until exhaustion finally overtook him, and he was found hunched over his desk the next morning. He startled awake, ready to ride out despite the circles beneath his eyes.
“There won’t be a need for that, sire,” Jarvis, his advisor, assured him. His voice was soft and gentle, a stark contrast to the panic in Tony’s head, and it stopped him from rushing out of his bedroom door. “Lady Morgan is standing in the throne room awaiting your presence.”
“Morgan? Is she all right!?” Tony’s fingers dug into Jarvis’s shoulders when he grabbed at the man. “What happened to her? How did she get back?”
“You can ask the young man who escorted her home, sire.” Jarvis patted the back of Tony’s hands, and the king dropped them to his sides. “She’s rather smitten with him, so do be polite when you address him. No threats, as he seems to have taken good care of her.”
Tony got himself ready quickly, pushing away his handmaids when they didn’t shave his stubble off as quickly as he liked. Jarvis helped him dress, a simple crimson waistcoat over a white long sleeve tunic and black pants, and he had to remind Tony to pull his boots on so he didn’t greet a guest at his home barefoot. Tony couldn’t have cared less about his state of dress when it came to taking his daughter back from a stranger, but he knew that his appearance would be harshly scrutinized by his court otherwise.
He pushed his hair back and hoped the dark circles beneath his eyes weren’t too obvious. Jarvis gave him one quick glance-over before nodding his approval and holding open the door to the throne room for Tony.
Morgan, pristine and clean and, most importantly, unharmed spins from where she was talking with her nanny. The only indication she had been in trouble was a series of rips in the skirt of her dress, which was already being inspected by the older woman under Tony’s hire. Morgan’s pretty brown eyes lit up when she saw her father, and Tony couldn’t have cared less about his image as he dashed to meet her halfway, falling to his knees as she threw her little arms around his neck.
“Oh, thank god,” he breathed into her neck, petting her hair and kissing her cheek. “Baby, I was so scared you were gone. What happened, where did you go?”
His tone was just a touch too harsh. When he pulled her away to arm’s length, her lip was trembling and her eyes were bright and wet.
“I was playing hide and seek with Harley, and I got lost,” she said, sniffling and blinking fat tears down her cheeks. Tony’s hands, shaking with a rush of adrenaline and relief, are gentle when he wipes them away. “There were wolves, and I tried to run away but I ripped up my dress. I’m so sorry, daddy.”
“Hey, hey, sweetheart. It’s okay.” Tony pulled her to him again and squeezed her tight. “I’m not mad, and you’re not in trouble. I’m just glad you’re safe.”
Quiet murmurs passed through the crowd around him as he held his child. He could hear some women tittering about what a caring father he was, about how gentle and loving he was with Morgan. One woman, just a little too loudly, wondered how he could benefit if she gave Morgan her attention when Tony was too busy running his kingdom.
Tony pushed those kinds of comments away from the forefront of his mind and focused instead on the girl in his arms. He wasn’t interested in remarrying after his previous wife left him. Morgan didn’t need anyone else in her life.
As he kissed her forehead for maybe the sixth time, a figure stepped close, and Tony glanced up at them from over the top of his daughter’s head. A young man with chestnut curls and matching eyes bowed his head reverently, a small smile pulling at his lips. He was dressed in a light brown tunic opened low on his chest, dark green pants, and brown shoes so worn that Tony couldn’t see the soles in them. His fingers had smudges of dirt on them, and a browning maple leaf was tucked neatly behind his left ear. A worn leather satchel hung from his shoulder and down to his hip, looking fat with items underneath its flap.
Morgan pulled away from her father and stepped back to gesture widely to the young man. “This is Peter! He helped me when I got lost and  drove the wolves away.”
“I’m sorry for keeping her so long, Your Grace,” he said. There was a musical lilt to his voice, sweet to Tony’s ears as he looked the king fearlessly in the eyes. “She was injured while trying to flee the wolves, and I didn’t want to return her to you in that state. I kept her long enough to heal her injuries before bringing her home.”
Tony opened his mouth to respond but was interrupted by an excited Morgan jumping up and taking Peter’s hand. “Pete, Pete, do that thing you showed me last night! The magic trick!”
Peter looked bashfully at Tony, then Morgan, before conceding to her begging. He reached into his satchel and pulled out a small cloth bag, and from that he pulled out a small seed. Morgan giggled excitedly as Peter set it in his palm and covered it with his other hand. A few twists of his wrist and when he pulled his hands apart—
Shock widened Tony’s eyes as he stared at a bright red, fully-ripened apple now sitting in Peter’s open hand. He offered it to Tony, who took it to a chorus of gasps from his court. They were silenced immediately by Morgan’s excited clapping.
“It’s so amazing!” Morgan gushed as Tony turned the fresh fruit over in his hands. “He did that with my knee, too! It’s all healed up!” She yanked her skirts up to show off her healed knee, and her nanny rushed over to pull the young girl’s skirts down again. Still, if there had been any sign of injury on his baby, Tony didn’t see it. And Morgan would never lie in order to raise the social status of a complete stranger.
Peter’s cheeks burned pink as he averted his gaze to the floor. His teeth hid a proud smile as he sucked his bottom lip into his mouth. Tony’s fingers tightened around the smooth red skin of the fruit in his hands, and he had to keep himself from turning it into pulp between his fingers.
“Well, Peter,” he said, “are you looking for a steady line of work?”
Despite criticism for harboring a witch in his court, Tony found that Peter brought with him a sense of peace to the servants that worked and lived there. Sure, he kept Morgan entertained with his endless magic tricks and ears that never seemed to tire of her stories (all past-lived or fictitious), but he always seemed to look out for Tony.
That trick of growing fruits from their seeds came in handy when Tony’s stomach growled just before a meeting with a potential paramour. Morgan needed a mother, a caretaker, and Tony had a duty to give his country someone to rule with him. Even if he did find himself yawning and rolling his eyes at each doe-eyed woman who came through to try and catch his fancy. Each mumbled comment earned him a chuckle or smothered smile from the witch at his side.
Morgan’s opinion was just as important as his, and the young girl accompanied him to each meeting. She would curtsy and greet each woman politely, just as Tony and her nanny had taught her, but no matter how much the women talked to her, she always made her way back to Peter, clinging to his tunic or sitting at his feet and purposely looking very bored with them.
Peter entertained her while Tony tried to build a connection with each potential partner he met. And Tony, despite his best efforts, found his gaze going back to the young man playing with his daughter, whose face brightened every time Peter managed to produce a flower from behind her ear.
Tony hadn’t even realized he’d been staring for so long until the woman who had wrapped herself around his arm gave him a tug, bringing his eyes back to her.
“Are you even listening to me?” she asked, offense hanging off every word.
Tony looked at her, then back to Peter, who was now watching him from across the way while his hands created fairy lights for Morgan to play with. His eyes blazed trails up Tony’s body, pink tongue poking out to wet his lips. That pretty pink blush, something Tony had come to appreciate over the past weeks, colored his cheeks, and he returned his focus to Morgan’s entertainment.
Another tug at his arm, and Tony couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped him.
“I mean no offense, madame,” he said, easily peeling her fingers from his arm. “But it seems someone else has my attention this evening.”
The taste of cinnamon, ripe-sweet apples, and rum sat on Tony’s tongue when he pulled the young witch close to him, knees locked on each side of his lap as the witch grabbed at him with strong hands. He hadn’t expected any of this, of the young magic-user clinging to him in desperation as he rolled his hips down against Tony’s.
He should have seen it sooner, if he as being honest. Peter was Morgan’s favorite person, directly after her father, the person who looked after her when Tony couldn’t and kept her excitable mind quiet during court sessions. He had protected her when Tony couldn’t, held her when Tony’s attention was forced to the throne. He looked after her and loved her, and Tony couldn’t have asked for more from a partner.
It made sense, right? It made sense to him, when he curled his arms around the lithe frame in his lap and skated fingers across smooth and soft skin.
“Your Grace,” Peter moaned against his lips, almost purring into his mouth when Tony squeezed his thighs and kissed him. “Tony, please.”
“What is it you want, my little witch?” Tony asked, and he relished the shiver that ran through Peter’s body at his words, at the subtle brush of their lips. “Tell me, and I’ll drown you in your desires.”
“You.” Peter’s fingers were gentle against the prickly stubble on his jaw, and the young man’s lips pressed tenderly to his. “You and only you.”

Howl In The Dawn
The first sign of daylight had lightened the night sky into a muted purple, and the Sunguard’s main camp seemed quiet save for the guards getting ready to be relieved of their shift; perhaps those who were early risers had begun to stir in their tents. Snow was still present, and though the cold nights had not been quite as harsh as before, the ground was becoming more wet as signs of Spring were beginning to show with a gradual melt and crunch of those white hillsides and banks.
Approaching from the east, a dire wolf as massive as many of the cavalry’s warhorses and nearly camouflaged by her pale sand-colored fur, slow and tired from an arduous journey. One guard who was a volunteering fighter from The Farstriders recognized the beast and allowed The Blonde through, though curious and somewhat alarmed that the wolf was alone; missing the woman she was bonded to. Tied at the neck and hidden under The Blonde’s thick, winter guard hairs was a satchel that seemed to be made from skins of animals recently caught. Determined to reach her target, The Blonde did not stop to let the Farstrider check this satchel, and walked her way silently through the camp with only the crunch of snow beneath her paws alerting her presence.
The scent of Ethalarian Dawnstalker and Nuellen’s wolf Moro grew stronger and eventually The Blonde had arrived in time to greet the Blood Knight when he walked out from his tent, still pulling himself from a restless sleep.
His reaction, understandably, was one of immediate shock and then panic. He began to look around the immediate area The Blonde was standing, “Where is she?! Where-- Where is Nuellen?!”
He addressed the dire wolf directly, knowing the connection The Blonde and Amarr had to Nuellen, and seemed to understand general feelings and intentions from others. Yet, all the wolf did was wag her tail gently and lean forward to lick the entire left side of his face with the broad side of her tongue. He seemed to grow more frustrated and was about to continue his fruitless interrogation of a four-legged creature, but forced himself to calm as he watched The Blonde sit back onto the snow and yawn wide, lifting her head to expose the leather pouch tied to her neck.
The surge of concern and adrenaline made Larry’s hands shake as he went to untie and remove the pouch. Another deep breath was needed before he opened the pouch, not caring to admire the fact that somehow Nuellen had pulled enough twine from her supplies to sew the damn thing together.
Inside were three pieces of parchment folded neatly and marked on the outside with different sets of initials: BK E.D., AK A.B., and Arch. T.T.
He quickly identified which initials belonged to their person and made to remove his letter, but his eye caught the glint of metal resting at the bottom of the pouch. He reached and felt his heart sink as he pulled forth two necklaces; one of which was very familiar to him. Thinking the worst already, he looked down and pulled his letter. He only read what was addressed to him, but after some time, he dressed and left his tent once more, letters in hand and moving to make sure they were delivered to their intended recipient.
Nuellen’s Messages:
Under The Cut
Ethalarian,
I write this as I camp somewhere on the far Eastern side of Quel’Thalas, between a mountain range and perhaps a few weeks walk to The Goldsea; it’s a bit hard to tell right now. I don’t plan to linger very long here, and I don’t know how long this message will take getting to you, so I can only say that I’m alive and have avoided most conflict. I’m uninjured, if a little hungry, most of the prey animals are keeping warm and out of the snow.
These weeks of tracking have been almost too long - Amarr and The Blonde caught scent of Kipcha and we followed her trail as some allies were trying to get her to lead them to Velianor’s location, but Kipcha broke away and ran back the way they were traveling. I expect perhaps Frostblaze is injured and she was returning to her mate... Instead of turning back, we pressed forward; lost the scent a few times, but have finally found something.
Time has worn away any sort of direction Veli and her pack were headed, but someone had her on the run. I found wolf bodies, well worn by decay, but no sign of Velianor or a body. I’ve been canvassing the area for the better part of two weeks now; I may have found a site where she could have fallen, but there’s no signs of a body, nor any kind of scavenging. I have a fresher scent now, though...
I also have proof that I’ve made headway and have packed them with these letters to you, Aestus, and The Archon; I remember catching a glance of her wearing these necklaces a few times and I assume they weren’t removed voluntarily.
There is no trail, so Amarr and I will circle and widen the area for any possible signs or routes that she could have taken. I will not assume that she has been taken captive or killed.
I’ve done some training of my own with Amarr and The Blonde. I believe they now will have a connection to my well being, similarly to Velianor and her wolves but not quite as strong. The Blonde is to remain with you and Aestus for the time being, but if she will let you know if something is wrong.
I love you. This will have a positive outcome. Believe in that.
-Nuellen
P.S. Please make sure that Archon Truefeather gets my report.
Aestus,
I write this as I camp somewhere on the far Eastern side of Quel’Thalas, between a mountain range and perhaps a few weeks walk to The Goldsea; it’s a bit hard to tell right now. I don’t plan to linger very long here, and I don’t know how long this message will take getting to you, so I can only say that I’m alive and have avoided most conflict.
Finding our Velianor has not been easy, and it remains a challenge, but I believe I’ve made progress finally and now have more to work with.
Bad News first: Much of her pack has been eliminated, it seems. Some kind of skirmish happened and she was forced to retreat but not without pursuit. I found the necklaces I’ve sent with The Blonde hanging from a tree in one valley section, but I also found a few other signs that Amarr and I could get a solid scent from.
Better News: I have not found any evidence of a body or scavenging from other animals. This means she’s not here and I will continue to track her down. It will still take some time to circle the area and extend our search, but I’m confident Amarr and I will catch up to her. Wherever she is.
I realize this message may bring you and Ethalarian more distress, but keep your head clear. Don’t let the Worst Scenario worm it’s way to you. There’s something in my bones telling me that she isn’t gone from this realm; certainly you feel the same thing?
Keep hold of that feeling.
I’ll find her; and we will return together. Keep breathing.
-Nuellen
Archon Telchis Truefeather,
Nuellen Swiftstrike, Pathfinder Dawnward and Farstrider Ranger-Captain, writing to you in regards to the whereabouts and status of fellow Dawnward Velianor Novastorm. Apologies, first off and also in hindsight, for departing without previous approval from Superiors; this mission to track and locate the Dawnward started and has only been one of Personal and Emotional gain to myself and other members who are close to Velianor. However, I am acting alone and did not attempt to convince anyone else to join me; any repercussions for my actions against orders, I will accept when I return with Dawnward Novastorm, alive or otherwise.
I’m unaware of her reason for being so far from any other units, but that is not a concern to me, at current... Only that myself and others were alerted by one of her bonded wolves that something severely wrong had happened to her and the wolf pack she travels with. She had escaped the main camp and I decided to follow.
I’ve managed to track down a site along the mountainside South East of The Goldsea that I believe she had encountered an enemy force and retreat was required. However, the retreat was followed - perhaps harried - as many of her wolves are now rotting in the snow. The body of the Dawnward in particular was not discovered, nor have there been signs of any scavenging in the area; not even a finger bone was located. I have, however, found a lead and have chosen to follow it. If I find she is captured by any enemies, I will send my black Dire Wolf Amarr with notice and continue to track, but I will not engage. Otherwise, if she is found recovering or otherwise, I will report to the nearest camp with Dawnward Novastorm in my care.
I understand this is a minor update among events that are far more important. Please consider this letter an official report of investigation for The Sunguard’s archives.
Light and Lady Aessina Keep You Safe,
Nuellen Swiftstrike Alah’ni

The Omega’s Secret
Warnings/Tags: angst, violence, mentions of death and suicide
Chapter 5
Hot… It’s HOT! You woke up sweating, panting and gasping for cool air. You wiggled around but you felt a pressure so heavy on top of you, that it made moving difficult. You somehow managed to turn until you were laying on your left side, only to see a familiar brown eye and black fur.
Who is that? you wondered. As you wiggled until you were laying on the opposite side, you peered over a large leg covered in fur. There a tan and gray wolf slept about 50 feet from where you, and the wolf on top of you, were positioned. You shifted to until you were sitting on your belly and crawled –with great difficulty – your way out from under the large mass that seemed to have taken its place on top of you.
When you finally were free of the mass, you heard a shifting and grunting from behind. You looked back to the black wolf, whom you assumed was the man from earlier named ‘Seokjin’. His brows were furrowed and his nose was flared, making his expression look like he was extremely uncomfortable. Though he stirred, he curled up against the tree he was lying beside and after a couple of seconds, fell back asleep.
Finally having been freed of the large wolf’s body heat, you still felt abnormally warm. It was dawn, so the sun was just beginning to come up, but you deducted that the sun wasn’t the reason for the continued heat you felt.
Maybe I’m just thirsty, you thought. I haven’t really drunk anything since I left home. Home… Jungkook… Mom, Dad… I miss you.
By doing the math in your head, you realized that this would be the second day you had been away from home. You wondered what Jungkook was thinking. Was he mad at you? No, he was probably furious. Mom? No doubt about it, she was worried sick. And Dad? He was definitely blaming himself.
When you felt your chest tighten, you shook your head hoping to shake out the thoughts and homesickness with it. Let’s go get something to drink.
You walked over to the spot where you had seen Seokjin drinking at before, making sure to be quiet so you would not wake up the two wolves and dipped your mouth into the cool water. Due to it still being late winter, the water was like ice sliding down your throat so it caused you to shiver. However, you were still extremely hot.
As you were quenching your thirst, you tried to observe your surroundings. You had only been out of your pack’s territory a handful of times (usually taking the main road with your parents) so you knew you were off the beaten path but you didn’t know exactly how far off you were. You had already noticed the river, and as you looked around you saw that across the river there was a small field that turned into a forest after some brush. Behind you there were staggered large trunk trees that also formed into a forest.  However as you turned your head and looked up, you realized that the forest on your side of the river seemed to be at the bottom of a mountain, and three quarters of a mile up the river there was a rock wall that the river ran through which seemed like it could easily be used as a bridge to the other side of the river.
While you were making your observations, you realized that the adrenaline from the events of the day before had worn off and your whole body surged and ached with pain. The cut on your back hurt, your legs ached, your head was pounding, but as you moved your feet in the soft mud of the riverbank, you felt a pain in your paws that was worse than everything else. Though you knew you were standing in mud, as you shifted your weight from one side to the other, the pain told you otherwise. Instead of mud, it was like you were standing on heated glass shards or a bed of nails.
You just wanted to get your weight off of your paws, and cool the heat that – no matter how long you drank – wouldn’t subside. So in a split second decision, you launched yourself into the river. Now, at about .0003 seconds in the air you thought that jumping into a river right after a big rain storm might not have been the smartest epiphany you had ever concocted. This was proven true when you felt your body hit the rushing water with a force that caused all of the oxygen inside your body to become oxygen outside your body.
You began to panic when you realized that your legs were so sore, they wouldn’t move on their own. You tried to paddle yourself to the river bank, but the current of the river was too strong and you couldn’t fight it. You opened your mouth to howl or bark, anything really, but a whine was all that came out before a rush of water found its way lodged in your windpipe.
I can’t believe I’m going to die like this, you thought. As your head sank underwater, you closed your eyes and waited until the inevitable point where your lungs would ache and burn until you finally tried to take another breath, causing more water to pour into your mouth and sealing your fate.
However that feeling never came. Right as you closed your eyes, you felt a strong hand grab the nape of your neck and hoist you up onto the riverbank.
Your coughs and gasps for air caused your lungs to burn and your head to feel dizzy from the lack of oxygen. Through your coughs you could hear a growling and almost yelling coming from the man who seemed to have changed into his human form. When your breath evened out you could finally understand what he was blathering about?
“Are you listening to me?” Seokjin growled as he glared at you, “Were you trying to kill yourself?!”
His question was met with your face of confusion. What does he mean? Try to kill myself? I was hot…
Of course still looking like a wolf and with no voice to even properly whine, growl, or howl, you couldn’t relay your thoughts to him at all. Still he continued with his rant.
“Have you completely lost your mind?!” He yelled. For some reason the sound in his voice made you cower a bit, which was a strange experience to you. It made you extremely uncomfortable. You couldn’t tell if he was somehow forcing you to feel bad, or if – being in wolf form – your omega was feeling guilty for upsetting him.
Is it because I’m shifted? Does that lessen my humanity to where I can fight back? Or is it him?
You felt tears brim your eyes and lowered your head as he continued to glare at you. You wished Mrs. An was there, she would be able to help you understand what was going on. Why you could fight against anyone, but this person made you feel guilty. You missed your mom, you missed her hugs that made you feel like everything was going to be ok. You missed the comfort of having your little brother around, and the safety net that was your father.
Why is he yelling at me? He doesn’t even know what I’ve been through these past couple of days… Wait a second, I’m Do Miyeon. I don’t have to be guilty. I didn’t even do anything wrong! That’s it, if he yells at me one more time, I’m going to bite his foot!
With your head lifted up, your shoulders held high, and your resolve set, you stared back into the eyes of the man who seemed to currently be scolding you. He began to speak but you didn’t let him finish as you quickly started walking to the tree where you knew your bag was. Your feet however were not cooperating with your current “I have pride too” show off, but you held back your tears as the pain in your paws continued to prick and burn.
You made your way behind the tree (which was not very far away from the riverbank) grabbed your bag in your mouth and plopped yourself down grateful that your feet were finally relieved of your body weight.
Why are my paws hurting this bad? You wondered as you twisted your paws up to get a better look. What you found made you almost want to faint. You had never been much on gore and wounds, and that’s exactly what you saw. These must have come from the territory border. Your feet had large gashes and cuts in them and though they had stopped bleeding, the semi fresh wounds were still horrifying to look at. I’m going to throw up… you thought as you turned your paws back toward the ground opting to not stare at the wounds.
You laid your head down trying to keep your mind off of the pain that seemed to intensify after finding the source of your discomfort when you heard a rustling from behind the tree. “Jinsin, what happened? Why is your face so red?” Solbi asked.
“Let’s just walk over here,” Seokjin whispered. You heard the wet leaves squish under their feet as they seemed to walk away from where you could hear their conversation. Luckily they didn’t know that you had extra sensitive hearing.
“What happened?” Solbi said, “And where’s the kid?”
Kid? I’m older than you KID.
“She jumped into the river. I don’t know what was going through her head. I thought she was trying to kill herself but... maybe not. She’s behind that tree now sulking.” Seokjin explained.
You huffed and growled a bit. I am not sulking!
“Ok, well... what should we do about the mission?” Solbi whispered. “We were just supposed to meet up with agent Park, but you decided to pick up the hitchhiker instead.”
“We have to go back to the capital. The mission’s been… we just need to regroup and I’ll brief everyone then.” Seokjin said and you could sense a deep sadness in his voice.
Seokjin being sad eased the anger you had against him from before.
“Jinsin is everything okay? Did something happen to agent Park and the mission?” Solbi asked but after a couple seconds she continued. “Alright, I’ll go get them and bring them back here. You just stay with the kid. She really doesn’t like me so it’s best if I go and you stay here.”
“You’ll be fine by yourself?” Seokjin began to ask but a howl was his reply. You heard the sound of paws plodding off into the earth, with the next sound being a mass plopping down behind your tree.
For a while you just laid there and listened to him breath. By the time he cleared his throat and started to speak, it was already sunset.
“You scared me, that’s all…” he sighed. “I woke up to you flailing in the water. I can’t stand for anybody else around me to die. ”
You felt the heartbreak in his voice reach all the way down to your own heart. Mrs. An… elder… I’m not the only one who’s lost important people. It hurt so much you thought you were going to be sick. The pain in his voice sent a message from your brain to your feet and you quickly stood up so you could make your way toward him. You could only take a couple of steps though as the pain from your feet quickly won and you fell to your stomach with a yelp of pain.
“What’s wrong?!” Seokjin said as he ran around the tree and up to you. You turned your paws up to the side and looked up at him. As he looked down at your paws and let out a sigh that almost sounded like he was the one in pain. “Why didn’t you tell me – oh right, don’t cry, you’re ok.”
Crying? I’m not crying, you thought. Somehow he knew you were going to cry before you did as he was proven right when you felt your eyes water.
“Stay here, I’ll go find some herbs for – ,” he was cut off by your stomach rumbling, “for your feet… and how about something to eat too,” he chuckled. As quickly as he said it, he ran into the forest and disappeared behind the leaves.
With Solbi gone, and Seokjin occupied, you figured that it was the perfect time to go through your bag to find the supplements. There has to be something on that bottle that will tell me why I can’t get back to being a human.
Getting into a drawstring bag with paws instead of hands was not as easy of a task as you had thought. You maneuvered the bag around quite a bit before you could finally nuzzle your way through the opening. Though the sun was gone, there was a little bit of light left from the refraction of the clouds just as you carefully pulled the bottle out with your teeth so you could read the warning label. Which pretty much listed the maximum dosage as 2 pills within a 24 hour period and seeing as you had taken 3 in the span of about 16 hours, you figured the most common symptom “shift disorientation” was to blame for your current wolf form. As you read further the bottle said to seek immediate help if you couldn’t shift after 36 hours.
It’s been more than 36 hours by now right? Your fever had subsided about an hour after the river fiasco, and since failing the previous day you had not tried to shift again. Well, while they’re gone, I might as well try again.
The darkness had just set in as you made your first attempt to shift, which ended up being a complete failure again. But thankfully after a great amount of concentration, willpower, and prayers, the second time was the charm. You were so happy, you wanted to jump up and down but all of your weight being focused back onto your feet again made you think twice. It only took a couple of seconds for your excitement to dwindle as a cold, late winter breeze brushed past your now naked skin. Somehow you felt around until you found your underwear and bra, a long sleeve shirt, some sweat pants and your socks and converses. You reached back in your bag and realized the only items you had left were your first aid kit, sweet potatoes, supplements and the chest wrap Yomin had given you.
Where’s the rest of my clothes?! You panicked when you remembered that you shifted when you were running from Kang’s henchmen, meaning that pieces of the clothes you were wearing at that time were now scattered like confetti on the forest floor behind your house.
“I’m back,” Seokjin said and you felt yourself lurch forward with excitement.
What the… it was like you wanted to see him. You wanted him to be proud of you for being able to switch back into looking like a human again. You wanted to hear him praise you. I must just want to see him happy because he was sad earlier, you reasoned. Yeah that’s it.
You were about to walk out from behind the tree when you heard him speak again. “Oh, you’re back too. I was just about to make a fire. Where are they?”
“Putting clothes on,” Solbi grunted and set down something heavy with a ‘thud’.
You heard the smacking of wood and then the crackle of a fire, “I bet Hoseok just loves the thought of having to walk around clothed,” Seokjin said sarcastically. “I see you brought food.”
“This isn’t all of it, Taehyung and Yoongi have one each too. And Hoseok complained a bit on the way here but not as much as I thought he would. He’s probably just more excited about the new kid than anything else. Though he did say ‘Sleeping is always better when nude’ at least 5 times, but he’ll get over it.” Solbi chuckled, “Besides, not having to see a naked Hoseok for a while will do us all some good. What are those herbs for?”
“She has some really bad cuts on her paws,” Seokjin explained.
“Speaking of that little menace, where is she?” Solbi asked.
As she was talking about you, a flash of what she said earlier came back to your head. If she’s an omega, I call dibs. You felt around in your bag for the chest wrap. You quickly pulled your shirt up and wrapped your breasts as tightly as you could living a little wiggle room for breathing.
Just in case, you thought. You popped 2 supplements into your mouth and held back the reflex of wanting to throw up after taking them without anything, a sore throat making the task more difficult than before. 3 a day = bad, but 2 a day should be fine, you deducted.
“I think she’s sleeping behind that tree,” Seokjin said.
You took that as your cue to come out and as you walked toward the fire slowly letting yourself be lit up by the burning mass, you confusingly cocked your head to the side because – not only were there three new faces – but the two you already knew were looking at you strangely.
“Dang~,” someone had said in between the two, “she’s cute.” He had brown fluffy hair, beautifully tanned skin and a face that essentially looked like a puppy incarnate.
You looked over to Seokjin who was standing on the left and seemed to have his jaw dropped. You smiled at him then quickly looked away when someone came up behind him and whispered something about ‘type’ which you couldn’t make out because another very excited male started talking.
“With those hips, I bet she’s an omega,” the excited man said.
“Nah, Solbi says she’s feisty. Definitely an alpha like us,” the man who had whispered to Seokjin replied. He sleepily smiled at you and went about setting the large mass on his shoulder next to the other large mass that Solbi had placed to the left of the fire.
Like us? What does he mean like us?! Internally you began to panic until you saw a man walking from behind the others with his hands crossed over his chest.
The way he walked looked so familiar, but you just couldn’t pinpoint it. He made his way around Solbi and the crowd of three until his face was just barely lit up by the light of the fire. You couldn’t see much of his facial features but the outline of his head and the smirk he was wearing rekindled an angry fire in you so deep that, by the time you had controlled your emotions, it was already too late. Seokjin and Solbi each had an arm across your chest holding you back, and a man you had never wanted to see again was staring up at you from his position on the ground with a bloody nose and a look that could kill an army of wolves.
“Do Miyeon, I’m going to rip you to shreds!!!”
