Just watched something horrific and felt like it unlocked some part of me. IDUNNO IF ITS GOOOOOD. hfjsjsh maybe. Maybe it is.
#me.#(I was just talking about how I fear my anger cause it’s dangerous#(but I know it’s linked to passion and protectivity and love sometimes#(but sometimes you play a game and ur like wow. what a nice lil outlet. I’m horrified. but I feel GREAT. what a mix.#(my PASSIONS get tied up into OBSESSIONS and needing CONTROL#(so playing a game bout people who are also. existential and obsessive and maybe they do get a lil violent.#(is very cathartic#(I think for a long time I’ve been scared of ANY PHYSICAL OUTLETS for anger#(this is kind of a mental one I guess#(and man I’m not even mad I’m teehee gritting my teeth kicking my feet clenching my fists#(such a happy anger??? weird. I think I’m a sadist sometimes but I could never hurt somebody willingly.#(I was a mean kid and I never wanna be that bad again.#(but that doesn’t mean I can’t find a healthy outlet! in!!! fucking yandere games???#(not the simulator made by That Guy but just. some random games. and stories. whew#(just the occasional mostly horror visual novel that u sometimes get to kiss the killer in sighhhhhhhssss#(I guess this isn’t NEW I liked JTHM as a kid. but i rly am not. a gore person.#(I like the psychological horror and the relation to being in a headspace where u feel. too intense. constantly. and feel. Rise Characterizations
Last month I did an in-depth re-watch of rottmnt s1 to take some notes on writing the characters of rise from their perspective and such. Figured I'd share what I found, but I'm also posting this bc my docs have a nasty habit of blipping out of existence.
We'll start with Raph bc he's the oldest of course, but I'll post the others sep. bc this is gonna get long!!
Raph Character Notes
Tumblr media
Language Habits:
Catchphrases: "like a boss", "smash"
Verbalizes his attacks such as "smash", "knuckle sandwich", "power smash jitsu", "tonfa power jitsu", "mystic punch jitsu"
Uses older song titles for surprised exclamations or in place of cursing, most notably "jumping jack flash!"
Uses aave/bae, For example: 'em instead of them, 'ey instead of they, 'cause instead of because, forgoes the g in ing words (going becomes goin')
Uses less and less grammar the more he's stressed, and his voice will come to a higher pitch
Will speak in a softer tone to his little brothers if he's concerned about hurting their feelings. Aka babying them
Mixes up both metaphors and idioms. Would be one to say how the turn tables unironically
Does say "hero" a lot, lost count, especially in phrases like "hero town"
Refers to his brothers as "boys" or "fellas"
Refers to Splinter as "pop(s)" most often
Refers to strangers he's directly talking to as "bubs" or "hoss"
Tumblr media
Personality:
Protective of his family
Plays up the hero act/has a strong sense of duty and justice
Impatient, rushes in without a plan (pre-movie), doesn't finish books until the end, falls asleep during "boring movies"
Oblivious, doesn't read into things beyond surface level. Struggles with empathy when something is beyond his understanding, but is still very emotional
Center of responsibility for his brothers, but also has a reckless sense of fun. As long as it's him doing the stupid unsafe thing it's fine
Carries the weight, in a literal sense he piggy backs his brothers, but will also use his body as a shield from danger. Unfortunately this also means he takes his brothers a little less seriously (Mikey the most common victim), and will try and either protect them from everything or as an oldest sibling everything has go "his way"
Doesn't do well in solitude. Needs to be looking after people to feel functional, and needs to be around people to feel safe
Clumsy, "takes horrible pictures", isn't very good at hiding, he's a big guy so it probably took a lot of time to find balance
A sweet guy who still won't shy from making fun of his family. Leo tends to be the brunt of his teasing since he is the most annoying, but he will also poke Donnie on his dramatics
Likes cute things!!! Has a teddy bear collection and loves animals. It's so cool how this isn't played off as a joke and he's still just as masculine for liking pink and cutesy stuff
Likes fighting!!! Gets a lot of energy out defeating bad guys (where he directs his anger towards), the one who is shown to train the most, and also weight lifts in his spare time
Doesn't do well under pressure, here the anger comes out the most. He gets stressed when it's all on him, especially since he tends to mess up the most in these moments
Tumblr media
Miscellaneous:
Second to unlock mystic powers
Nicknames/codenames: "raph-a-doodle" by leo, "red rover" by april, "red king" by donnie
Teddy bear names: Doctor Huggenstein, Captain Snuggles, Cheech
Stinks: fear stink, amazement stink, sneaking up on people stink, victory stink
Seems to be less afraid of rabbits and more afraid of puppets
Went on his first solo mission at 13
Cannot lift a bus, at age 15
Thought about discussing fighting style, but I'm not as familiar with that concept and I've seen a couple posts dissecting such topic. So we'll end here for now. Hope this was helpful!!! I'll post the rest of the boys later and link here
Leo is up!!
Donnie is up!!
Mikey is up!!
Splinter is up!!
April is up!!
Cassandra is up!!

Astrology Observations No.5 🧛🏻‍♀️💋🖤👻
(+ a bit creepy stuff)
I use the whole sign system
Tumblr media
Uranus opposition Ascendant & strangers talking to you all of a sudden in unexpected ways and places
Mars in 8th house get attacked by spirits often (sleep paralysis, seeing shadows, feeling presences) in many places you go to
!Sensitive topic¡
Astroid Medusa (149) in strong aspects (usually squares) with the north node/southnode + pluto indicate r*pe. I saw it in two of my friends chart. The north node can be seen as destiny. Even if you don't have this aspect and still went through this i love you you are never alone ❣︎
Scorpio ascendants attract a whole bunch of creeps trust your gut and keep it safe people always pay attention to what you are doing you just need to look closer
Lilith in the 10th house and females being annoyed of their presence in the work place. Usually also attract a whole bunch of jealousy in school, uni or at work. Michele Avil that was murdered by her best friend because of jealousy had this placement
Moon in Scorpio hate not having control they know how to (atleast try) to get someone to do something. Positive note good investigators who would make great psychologists, detectives and so on
So well if you have a bunch of 1st house, 8th house or 12th house placements in planets like venus, mars, moon or lilith you are more prone to attract stalkers atleast once in your life KEEP IT SAFE and I mean it¡! And by stalkers I also mean people who do a whole bunch of research on you and your life or keep following you obsessively on social media.
Don't leak unnecessary information about you and try to not go to quite places alone where no one could find you if something would happen.
Lilith in leo are feared by females loved by men
Venus in 10th house don't tell anyone about your love life trust me even tho people always find things to say and spread rumors about. You will publicly be known for what is happening in your love life.
Moon in aries need to be feared, if introverted it takes long to see their anger but most aries moons show ther anger explosively nevertheless they cool down rather quickly, loyal to their loved ones tho
Don't fuxk with leo venus friends they take care of them like a lion mother, dedicated
Venus in capricorn always have enemys
Masculines with libra placements always fall for people who don't love them the same way/or for absolutely toxic & crazzzy people
Lilith in the 22nd degree are necrophilists. Just look at Richard Ramirez chart, he loved s*x with the dead.
According to Ian Altosaar the 22nd degree is about murder and I combined this information with liliths nature, hidden desire. 👻Ps: Most necrophilists are men not always but almost all the time https://ijop.net/index.php/mlu/article/download/734/688/1339 or on Wikipedia (not so reliable source but says that about 92% are men)
Virgo placements get underratedly sexualised a whole lot. The biggest p*rn star right now has virgo placements. Also virgo liliths can be se*ualised
Pisces moons had a time of their life where they cried a lot or still are very emotional (nothing bad). Other than that they can be dangerously manipulative if they want to and feel every slight difference in someones behavior
Aquarius ascendants and loving colorful clothing
Juno (3) in aries and rooting for ambitious people that behave masculine in a loving manner (romantically)
Juno (3) in aquarius want a partner that sticks out from the masses
Mercury in sagittarius have a special voice
Pholus (astroid) shows you what transformed you the most in your life:
1st hous/Aries: You yourself/sports caused a transformation in your life
2st house/Taurus: Your financial situation changed you
3rd house/Gemini: The area where you live in (hood) affected you, or off topic your car/drivers license
4rd house/Cancer: Your home life, emotions or femininity
5th house/Leo: Creative skills of yours or recognition transformed you
6th house/Virgo: Routine or your health/hygiene plays/played a crucial role in your life
7th house/Libra: Your love life/ or glow up affected your life view
8th house/Scorpio: Deaths, paranormal stuff, operations, accidents and your sexuality transformed your way of dealing with life
9th house/ Saggitarius: Other cultures, traveling and your ancestors trigger something in you
10th house/Capricorn: Your work, work environment and accomplishments changed you
11th house/Aquarius: Humanitarian topics, technology and friends started your transformation journey
12th house/Pisces: Religion, spirituality & plastic surgerys may have affected your journey of developing your sense of self

There is no End | Luke Castellan x Reader
Tumblr media
A little idea I had, needed to right something angsty and toxic 😍💀
Tumblr media
Let go of me, Luke!”
You stumbled and tried pulling your arm away from the blonde boy who continued yanking you forward. The bruising grip Luke had on your arm did not deter you from trying to escape.
You thought he only wanted to talk. Maybe apologize for everything he had done. As anxious as you were to meet up with the boy, you did nonetheless.
Why? Because he’s your boyfriend. Or was, at least. Never did you imagine the kind boy you once knew to drag you away from the camp grounds kicking and screaming.
“Luke, I’m serious! Let me go!” Your voice trembled with rage and fear.
You were far from camp, you knew that. But you didn’t know that you were so close to home too. You looked at the house in front of you, anxiety shooting up as you recognized it as your own.
How did you guys manage to travel out of state so quickly? And how were you home??
It was all too confusing for you. You were cold, upset, and scared. You wondered if anyone at camp noticed your absence yet.
“LUKE STOP!”
At last, it seemed the boy finally heard you after all your previous attempts. He stopped suddenly, causing you to crash into his side. You yanked your arm away and was surprised when he let go.
You stepped away from him, eyes tracing his blank face carefully. You knew if you ran, he’d easily catch you. Your eyes traveled down to the sword strapped around his waist.
Who knew, maybe he’d use that sword against you too. What was it called again? Backbiter?
Luke’s eyes stared off into the distance. It was like he wasn’t even mentally there in the moment. He had changed so much, you noticed.
He looked older, in a way. His face, no longer soft and sweet, was hardened from the past years of intense fighting. You knew he’d seen and been through so much since he had left camp.
His once bright blue eyes were now dull in shine. He looked towards you, eyes narrowed as he turned his body to you.
“Join the army.” Your jaw almost dropped in shock.
You stepped back agin. He stepped forward.
“You seriously kidnapped me from camp, take me to my home, just to tell me to join your army? Is this a joke?”
Luke’s face twisted in anger. He took one large step and stood no more than a foot a part from you.
“No, it’s not. Join our army, and I promise you won’t get hurt when the war happens.”
Hurt? War? You realized in the moment that this was more dangerous than you anticipated.
“Why should I join your army, Luke? If you forgot, I still remember how you betrayed us. Betrayed me.” You scoffed out, arms crossing in defiance. You weren’t going to let Luke have his way.
“Betrayed you? I’m doing this for us. For everyone who was betrayed by the gods. You should feel betrayed by them.”
Luke was now so close that you could feel the warmth radiating from the skin on his arms. He was angry and you knew it. Luke never got angry before.
“When have the gods and goddesses ever been there for you, huh? Your father? Why do you take their side when the only thing they’ve done is screw you and everyone else over?”
You stared up at him in shock. Was he really trying to use your father against you? You knew what he was trying to do, you knew it.
“Luke-“
“No! Tell me, when was the last time Apollo said happy birthday to you? Actually, tell me when was the last time you’ve even seen him?”
Your face scrunched up in hurt, your body trying to back away from Luke’s, only for him to wrap his hands around your biceps, stopping you from getting away. You gasped from the squeezing pain.
“He doesn’t care about you, y/n. None of the Olympians do. Why are you fighting for immortals that don’t even care if you live or die?”
Your eyes watered up with unshed tears. His presence was becoming too much for you. Was he going to kill you if you didn’t join? Oh gods, you were going to die.
“No one cares about you. You don’t matter to anyone. Not even your own mother-“
“Stop it, Luke! Don’t say that!” Your lips wobbled as you spoke, the tears welling up in your eyes and slowly falling down your cheeks.
“It’s true, though. You want to see how much you matter to her? Don’t worry, I’ll show you.”
Your heart leaped to your throat as the blonde boy began dragging you to the house you once lived in. Panicking, you began your game of tug and war against him again, but you weren’t as strong as he was.
“No, no Luke please! Don’t do this, please!” You sobbed out as Luke continued pulling you closer and closer to the house.
Once close enough, he shot you a look as if to say quiet, making you immediately stop babbling out nonsense.
You were hysterical at this point, your face red from your crying and sobbing. Your body shook as you tried and failed miserably to stop your cries. You continued crying even as Luke pulled you up to a ground level window of the house.
Luke grabbed your jaw to keep you from turning away from the window, forcing you to look into the house.
“Look Y/N. I said look.”
You sobbed as you did what he wanted. It had been exactly 5 years since you’ve last seen your mother. 5 years since she left you at camp and never came back. All the memories came flooding back immediately as you stared at the woman you loved so dearly.
She sat on a chair reading a book, the same way she always did when you were younger. The house looked the same way it did when she took you to camp all those years ago. Except something was different.
You began crying all over again, broken sobs escaping your body as you saw two small children run over to her.
“No, no, no.”
You gasped for air as the woman in front of you put down her book and picked up the young children, placing them on her lap as she smiled gently at them.
Your pulled away from the window, away from the house, and back into the darkness where you first began.
You didn’t even register Luke pulling you close to him, his arms engulfing you in a hug. The boy whispered sweet nothings to you as you slowly calmed down from your hysteria.
You sniffled softly as Luke’s whispers filled the silence of the night.
Your arms slowly wrapped around Luke’s body, head leaning against his chest.
“There is no end, Y/N. I told you, they don’t care about you. They never did.”
You sniffled again as your eyes stung with tears again. He didn’t need to remind you again. The boy then kissed your head, still hugging you as you got a hold of yourself.
“But I care, Y/N. I care so much for you. That’s why I want you to join me. So you don’t have to be alone again. I promise I’ll never leave you like your parents did.”
And you couldn’t help but believe him. The sincerity in his voice was hard to miss. The way he held you was the same way he held you all that time ago, when you were younger.
He promised he wouldn’t leave you. Your hands clenched around his shirt. You took a deep breath and unclenched your hands.
“Ok.”
Luke pulled away and held your face, eyes staring straight into yours. These blue eyes were the same ones you remembered staring into when you were at camp.
“Promise me you won’t leave.”
He gently kisses your forehead, wiping away your stray tears with gentle hands.
“I promise.”
You never returned to camp after that night, leaving many of the campers to worry and wonder what had happened to you. Little did they know that you had signed a deal with the worst monster imaginable, after he promised you he would never leave you alone.

Tumblr media
“Get your ass to bed before I throw you off my ship."
You fumble for the doorknob at your back, and the door swings open behind you, almost causing you to trip backward inside. Joel follows you into the room a few seconds later, leaving Todd out in the hall. You think it's probably for the best because Joel looks like he really might throw Todd over the side of the ship.
Joel locks the door behind him. You make your way to the bed and sit down, trying to catch your breath. You feel safer with Joel here. He comes over to you and places his hands on each side of your face looking into your eyes. Worry swims in his, and you nearly pull his mouth to yours.
“Did he hurt you? You have to tell me if he hurt you."
“I'm fine, really. I'm just a little shaken up, but I’ll be okay."
He continues to hold your face in his hands as if he's inspecting it to reassure himself that you're not hurt. You have to keep your eyes focused on him so they don't drift down to his perfect lips. Joel leans in closer, and you close your eyes, waiting -
Cool air hits your cheeks, replacing the warmth where Joel's hands had been. Your eyes burst open, and Joel's back is to you as he makes his way to the sofa. Heat burns through your entire body, and you wish Joel  hadn't pulled away.
“I need you to tell me the truth."
“What do you mean?" You ask, still breathless.
“I saw your face when that piece of cheesecake with the engagement ring was set in front of you. You weren't surprised; you looked almost heartbroken. Then at dinner tonight, Todd said something that made it sound like he’s known you for a lot longer than just this week. Then, I came up here to check on you, and he has you cornered."
“Joel, he was just drunk. I don't think he knew what he was doing," you say, looking down at your feet.
“Is he the reason you wanted to leave?" Joel asks bluntly. You can't  understand his anger. Is it possible that he's jealous of Todd?
“Not him specifically," you say, quickly bending the truth. “A lot of the group makes me feel like I don't belong. I don't come from money like the rest of them, and it's very obvious to me that I don't fit in with them."
In all actuality, you do feel like the odd one out a lot of the time. You imagine it feels similar to following an older sibling and their friends around. No one really wants you to come, but they put up with you so they won't get in trouble. It is, however, still a lie about the reason you wanted to leave.
Joel looks at you with a hint of sympathy in his eyes. “I didn't know you felt that way."
“I don't feel that way when I'm with you. Sometimes it feels like you’re the only one who wants me on this ship." You make your way across the room to sit on the sofa opposite him.
“I do want you here," Joel says softly.
You think back to the maid, Charlotte, talking about how Marnie had run off all of the women that ever got serious with Joel. You realise that he isn’t the playboy Sarah always makes him out to be. It isn't his intention that none of the women he's ever dated have not stayed around for long.
“I came up here to make sure you were feeling alright."
“I’m feeling a lot better," you say, feeling guilty about getting out of dinner with an excuse of being seasick. It felt like the best option, though, since you were apparently a topic of conversation at dinner. You wonder what Todd said about you to Joel but know it's best not to ask, or he’ll start asking questions you don't want to answer.
“Did you get anything to eat?"
“No, I didn't want to bug anyone."
You think back to the few handfuls of popcorn you ate while playing cards. You could definitely use something more substantial. Joel stands and walks to the intercom on the wall of your room.
“Can you please send some dinner up and a whiskey for me?"
“Is there anything else I can get you, sir?" Brenna says as she sets down the tray on the coffee table between Joel and you. She turns and winks at you, and you try your best to hide a smile.
“No, that's everything. Thank you, Brenna; I know it's late."
“I was up anyway, sir, and the night chef was in the kitchen making preparations for tomorrow, so it was really no trouble." Brenna turns and walks out the door, clicking it closed behind her.
“I like that you call all of your staff by name," you say, impressed that he cares so much about his staff despite his wealth.
“One of the few valuable things I learned from my father was to respect the people who work for you. Without them, I wouldn't be able to do the work that I do or enjoy my limited free time. My father always made it a point to call each employee by their name. In that way alone, I followed in his footsteps."
Joel takes the cover off of your plate for you. It's a bowl of chicken pesto pasta and a side of garlic bread. The smell of the garlic hits your nose instantly, and you can feel your stomach urging you to grab the plate.
“Your father sounds like he was a very harsh man?" You ask, hoping you're not overstepping. You grab the bowl of pasta off the tray and take a bite. The cheese melts in your mouth perfectly, complemented by the pesto.
“He was very harsh, and strict. He had high expectations for me, and he made it known when I disappointed him."
“That must have been hard."
“It was, but it made me who I am today. I don't take the wealth, or the work it takes to maintain it, for granted. But I do try to be a kinder man than he was."
You stay quiet and work on the rest of your pasta, slowly savoring each bite. You know Joel will probably leave as soon as you're done, so you take your time.
“I forgot to tell you I got in contact with a law firm I've worked with in the past. They would like to bring you in for an interview for a secretary position."
You nearly drop your fork. “Are you serious?"
Joel smiles at your response. He nods  and takes a swig from his whiskey glass. “I'll get you their information. They're ready to bring you in as soon as you get settled."
“I can't thank you enough, Joel. You don't understand how life-changing this is for me," you say, setting down the bowl of pasta on the table. You wish you could stand up and hug him.
“I'm just glad you decided to stay. You are the only one making this trip bearable," Joel says, meeting your eyes. The look in his eyes makes your heart flutter.
A loud vibration against the leather of the sofa breaks the moment, and Joel pulls out his phone. His face falls as soon as he reads the notification on his home screen. “I’m so sorry but I have something I have to deal with. I'm glad to see that you’re feeling better, darlin. If you need anything, let me know."
You stand. “Thank you for everything, Joel, truly everything."
He smiles and quickly makes his way to the door without looking back and closes the door behind him. The room suddenly feels empty with Joel gone. You slump back onto the leather sofa and grab the garlic bread off the plate, dipping it in the remaining pesto at the bottom of your bowl.
Your phone screen illuminates the dark corner where your bed sits, so you hesitantly get up to check your notifications. At the top are a few messages in the group text between your friends, and just below that is a friend request from Joel. You smile to yourself and accept it, then open your group chat.
Lin: What amazing thing did you get to do today? I am bored of packing for the move. I need to live vicariously through you.
Aubrey: Lin, keep packing you only have a few more weeks.
Lin: Don't sound too sad to have us go, lol!
Aubrey: You know I am going to miss you two like crazy, but I know you will panic pack at the last minute and forget half your underwear drawer. I am not shipping your panties to you, Lin!
Lin: You know me too well, Aubs.
You: I love that every time I check my phone, I have messages like these! Nothing exciting today. We have been at sea all day on our way to Sarah's dad's mansion in the Bahamas. I went down to the employee's quarters and played cards and got a lot of dirt on Sarah’s mom.
Lin: Okay, I'm going to need pictures of this Bahama's Mansion and details on her mom!
You: Sarah's mom left her dad for another man because she thought it would help her climb the social ladder. Turned out he wasn't as rich or well off socially as she thought, and when he died, she did a paternity test, and here we are.
You: We are going to her dad's mansion for Sarah and Todd's engagement party…
Lin: It sounds like Sarah is the spitting image of her mother.
Aubrey: Not only did you have to witness their engagement, but now you have to go to their engagement party too?
Lin: I swear, you have the absolute worst luck on the planet.
You: You don't even know the half of my bad luck on this trip.
Lin: What do you mean? What else has happened?
You: Well, I don't really fit in with the rest of the group.
Aubrey: But I thought you said you were making other friends? Joel right?
You: I am.
Lin: So, what do you mean by bad luck?
You: Joel is Sarah's dad.
Aubrey: Why is that a problem? I have a lot of friends in my classes who are like double my age.
You: It's a problem because I'm falling for him. Absolutely head over heels falling for him.
Once in the hall, Joel opens the text message that interrupted his conversations with you
Lucille: Do you know someone named Blaine?
That simple sentence makes his stomach drop. He was now contacting family members. Joel makes his way back to the privacy of his office for the second time in the same night. He closes the door behind him before dialing his cousin Lucille's number.
“Joel, I am so glad you called me. I just had the strangest conversation with someone named Blaine. I was just getting out of the bath when I got a call from an unknown number. Now, usually I don't answer the phone if I don't know the number, but I gave my information to this adorable man at the coffee shop earlier today, so I figured it was him."
“Lucille, this is important; I need you to tell me exactly what Blaine said to you." He has to keep Lucille focused on the topic, she's always been a talker, but at this moment, he can't politely listen to all of her stories in their excruciating detail.
“Oh, right, the call from Blaine! He told me I needed to meet his demands or else."
“What were his demands?"
“He wants me to send half a million dollars in a box to an address in New Jersey. I'm sure it's just one of those scam callers that has nothing better to do with their life."
“Lucille, if you thought it was a scam, then why did you ask me if I knew him?"
“Well, that's what I found so strange. He knew all about our family tree and how we are related. I just thought it was a little more information than scammers normally have. However, who knows? With the Internet, I'm sure people can find out all kinds of information about our family. We aren't exactly flying under the radar - Oh! Did you see that latest news article in the paper? Apparently, you are about to agree to an arranged marriage to the Princess of Thailand."
“Lucille, I'm afraid this isn't a scam. But the arranged marriage definitely isn't true. Have you left your house since you got this call?"
“No, why? Joel, you're making me nervous."
“Okay, don't leave your house. I'm sending some of my security team over there now. Do not open the door for anyone else."
“What should I do about Blaine's demands?"
“Just ignore it."
“Joel, who is it we’re dealing with?" Lucille asks. She’s clearly nervous now.
“You don't have to deal with anyone, Lucille, I promise. I will take care of everything. Don't answer any unknown numbers, and do not go anywhere without one of my men with you. I will get this figured out."
“Okay, Joel. Just be careful."
“I will be. Call me if you need anything."
He hangs up the phone and slams his palm against his desk, even though he wants to punch something instead. He allows himself a few seconds of anger before picking up his phone again and calling his head of security.
“Hello?" a burly voice sounds on the other end of the phone call.
“Bruce, I need you to send two men over to my cousin Lucille's home in the West Village. Her address should be listed in her file."
“Of course, sir. Has there been an incident?"
“A man named Blaine Blake. He’s blackmailing Lucille at the moment. I’m not sure what he’s capable of, but he is a threat to the entire family. I need your best men on this."
“Two men are already on their way to your cousin's, sir. Do I need to send a team to you?"
He knew he hired Bruce for a reason. He’s extremely efficient and always one step ahead of everyone else. He’s exactly who he needs to help him take care of Blaine.
“No need quite yet, but I'll keep you posted. Oh, and Bruce?"
“Yes, sir?"
“Keep your ear to the ground, and let me know anything you find out about this Blaine Blake. Any information that you find needs to be kept under wraps."
“On it, sir. Everything will be done with the utmost secrecy."
“Thank you, Bruce. Have a good evening."
Joel hangs up the phone and sets it on his large oak desk. Unconsciously, he's been pacing around his office while on the phone. He slumps himself down into his leather armchair and swivels it around so he can watch the ocean. It's so dark, it's hard to differentiate the water from the sky.
He should have known he would hear from Blaine eventually. He first found out about his existence after his parents' death when he was seventeen. His father's will had very bluntly stated that Blaine was to receive nothing. Joel had no idea that he had a half-brother out there in the world until after his dad was gone and couldn't explain the situation for himself. Joel was left spending the rest of his early adult life piecing the clues together. His parents' constant fighting and lack of affection for each other made complete sense as soon as he knew that his father's infidelity was likely the cause. He ripped apart his father's office, trying to find any clues about his hidden life. The only thing he found was a check register, showing he had paid a woman named Anne Blake - one hundred thousand dollars. He had no illusions about his father, he knew exactly what he'd done.
His father kept detailed records of every dime he ever spent; the lack of information on the check register told him everything he needed. The hundred thousand dollars was hush money, and the woman, Anne Blake, had to be his father's mistress. He searched for years to find Anne Blake, but her name was so common, it was impossible to narrow down his search enough to find the right woman. He had no other information to go off of, and was left with a million unanswered questions. It wasn't until he found out he was Sarah's father that he had a hope of finding his brother. Sarah had taken a DNA test that linked her to other Miller's who had their DNA in the same database. Joel took the same DNA test and waited for a notification that he had a sibling match in the database. Last year, that notification finally came, but after some digging into his brother Blaine Blake's history, he wished he'd never known about him. More importantly, he wished he didn't know at all. Blaine's criminal record was far from clean, with multiple charges of petty theft and blackmail. It wasn't long after that, that the threats started coming in. At first, it was easy to shake the threats off, and Joel simply ignored all of them. In the last month, Blaine must have gotten desperate because his attempts at blackmail were getting increasingly threatening.
So far, he even avoided telling his security team about the threats, but now he's threatening Joel's family. He knows Bruce will get to the bottom of the problem, but he'll likely find out about all of his family's dirty laundry in the process.
Joel runs his hands up his face and through his hair. Leaning back, he stares at the ceiling. He knows he’ll never be able to sleep after the events of the last few hours, so he turns back around to his desk and opens his laptop. Might as well get some work done if he's going to be up anyway.
A notification greets him as the screen flashes to life. You accepted his friend request. At that, he can't help but smile, just a little. There's something about you that makes it impossible for Joel to get you out of his head. He's immediately distracted by the memory of you riding on the back of the jet ski to find the dolphins. Thinking of that day, he can almost feel your body pressed against his back and how your face lit up when the dolphins swam into the cove. That night when you walked out of the salon in the dress he mentioned would look good on you; you nearly knocked him senseless. You felt beautiful and he could see it on your face.
He realises sitting there alone in his office, he would give anything to make you feel that way all the time. There's no point in denying it any further, he's falling for you. If you were anyone other than Sarah's friend, he'd pursue you without a second thought. But, the last thing he needs is to complicate his relationship with his daughter even more. It doesn't help that his daughter is so clueless as to be cruel to the one person she invites that could actually help her grow into a decent person.
The screen of his phone alerts him to another incoming text message.
Marnie: I need a plane ticket to the Bahamas. It was bad enough that I had to hear about my daughter's engagement over the phone. I refuse to miss her engagement party too. So we will also need to push the party back so I can be there.
A few seconds later, another message follows the first.
Marnie: Also, we need to start discussing the wedding plans. Sarah's wedding needs to be absolutely perfect. We can talk about the details later. Send the flight information as soon as possible.
Joel opens the drawer of his desk and slides his phone inside. He is not in the mood to deal with Marnie and her demands. He knows deep down that Sarah is becoming more and more like her mother each and every day. A part of him is excited about Sarah's wedding for the simple fact that she’ll be another man's problem. He immediately feels bad for thinking that of his own daughter, but it seems she only cares about his money. Thinking about Sarah's upcoming wedding brings a new wave of memories rushing in. Embarrassment floods his veins as he thinks about the conversation he had with his daughter over dinner. She said that you didn't fit the aesthetic of her wedding, so she wouldn't ask you to be a bridesmaid. He couldn't understand that. But if Sarah won't have you at the wedding as a bridesmaid, maybe he'll just bring you as his date.
The last thing you want to do is run into Todd, especially after his actions the night before; you think it would be wise to avoid him completely. Book in hand, you head to the secret deck off of the dining room balcony, where you had shared a few quiet moments with Joel. You figure it would be the best place for you to hide out and also possibly run into Joel again. He left in such a rush the night before, you’re curious to find out what happened. You check down the hallway before speed walking to the dining room. As soon as your hand hits the doorknob, Sarah's voice sounds behind you.
"I have been looking for you everywhere!"
You turn around quickly, and you’re relieved to see that Sarah is alone. She’s wearing a one-piece swimming suit in navy blue with the bust line cutting down to her belly button. She has a white sun hat and a pair of Chanel sunglasses to complete her beachwear.
"Sarah," you say with a smile.
"Come with me down to the beach. I am so bored, and I can't stand being on this boat for another second," she says with an overly dramatic sigh.
"I thought we were heading to your dad's place and wouldn't get there until tonight." You turn and look out the dining room windows. You’re surprised you hadn't noticed earlier that you aren't moving.
"Daddy said we had to stop to refuel. He is also giving some of the crew their half-day break so they can go on land and contact family or something stupid like that," Sarah says with a roll of her eyes.
"Oh," you say, slightly irritated at Sarah's insensitivity. "Well, a half-day isn't that bad."
"It is when you have an engagement party to plan. Plus, daddy told me that my mom is flying out for the party. She is going to be waiting at the house while we sit here all day."
The thought of meeting Marnie makes you slightly nervous. Maybe because you’re worried she’ll be able to tell you have feelings for Joel. You can't let Sarah catch you in a daydream about her dad, so you shift the conversation as quickly as possible.
"Where is everyone else?"
"Everyone has a hangover. Todd started a drinking game last night, and everyone had a little too much."
Well, that makes a lot of the previous night make more sense. Todd is never one to handle his alcohol very well, and he’s even worse at games. You’re curious as to just how many drinks made Todd forget himself the way he did last night. He was not waiting long into the engagement to show his true colors.
"How are you not hung over?" you ask, looking her up and down. She doesn't look like she was drinking the night before at all. As always, she looks absolutely flawless.
"The bartenders know to give me water instead of an actual shot. I hate the way I get bags under my eyes when I drink too much. It’ss much better to stay hydrated than look hungover."
"Right. Well, I was just going to go find somewhere quiet to read, but reading on the beach sounds a lot more fun."
"Great! I can wait for you to go get ready," Sarah says, looking at your outfit.
"I am ready, Sarah."
"Oh, you look…cute. Anyway, let's go!"
You follow Sarah out on the dock and quickly realize it will not be a simple morning on the beach.
A few members of staff have set up a large tan beach canopy surrounded by white gauzy curtains. In the center is a pair of chaise lounge chairs made of rattan and topped with matching white cushions. It looks like a photoshoot.
"Do you think you could take a few pictures of me? I haven't posted anything in a few days, and my followers are getting antsy."
The true purpose of Sarah inviting you to spend time with her this morning becomes very obvious. She needs a photographer, not a friend.
"Sure, I can take a few. I really want to read this book, though, so if we could be fast…"
"Oh, that is an awesome idea!"
Sarah grabs the book out of your hand and flips it from the front cover to the back. You must look confused because she quickly explains.
"We could take a few shots of me reading on the beach. I haven't done that before. Is this one of those books that will make me look smart?"
"Yeah, I guess we could. It's just a romance novel, I don't know if your followers will think it makes you smart, but it might make you a little more relatable to some people."
"Smart people read. You, of all people, should know that. Maybe I’ll stop getting all those mean comments about being stupid. I can caption it 'steamy reading on the beach.'"
Sarah takes her place on the lounge in a very photogenic pose that makes her look graceful while still artfully showing off her cleavage. She opens the book and drapes it over herself, careful not to block her best assets. After a few pictures, she will check your work and find the smallest thing she doesn't like and will make you take more.
"Make sure you get the lighting just right and hold the camera up higher for a better angle. Oh, and make sure to get a good view of the ring. I'm hoping someone will notice it, and then my comment section will blow up."
"Don't you want to wait until the actual announcement?" you ask.
"Oh, no! I am going to pretend like it is a mistake that I posted a picture with the ring on; that way, it will attract more attention."
"It's always about the attention with you," you say under your breath.
"What was that?"
"Tilt your head up higher, so you don't have a double chin."
Sarah gasps and asks to see the pictures you had taken, so she can search for the nonexistent double chin. You feel bad as soon as you say it, you don't need to stoop to her level. After finding out so much about Sarah's past, you understand why she can be so hard to be around at times. If you had found out your father wasn't really your father after he passed away, you would have been devastated too.
"I think it was just a shadow, Sarah you don't have a double chin in any of these pictures. I don't think it is even possible for you to have a double chin," you say, trying to make up for your moment of weakness.
"Of course, you're right," Sarah says as she hands her phone back to you. Apparently, you aren't done taking pictures.
"Maybe we could get a few shots of me in the sand. Those always get a ton of likes."
Sarah begins to position herself on her stomach in the sand with the book open in front of her. She bends her knees, so her legs are in the air, and she bites the end of her sunglasses while she pretends to read. The pictures look like they belong on the cover of a magazine. Sarah looks so natural, even though she's strategically posing herself.
“Sarah, do you ever get tired of this?"
“Of taking pictures? No, not really."
“Not just of the pictures, but of constantly worrying about what others are thinking of you."
“That is why I take so many pictures; if you put your best picture out there, the only ones who comment mean things are the people who are jealous."
“It just seems like so much work to paint yourself as perfect all the time. I guess that's why I stopped using social media so long ago for the most part."
“For once, things actually are perfect. I have the perfect fiance, and soon I'll have the perfect wedding too. If you ever want to get back onto social media, I could help you.”
"I'm good for now, but thanks," you say, resuming taking pictures. You realize that Sarah likely doesn't know about your past relationship with Todd because you never posted anything about it on social media. If you don't tell her, she likely wouldn't ever know, and you don't want to be the one to break that news to her. So you keep your mouth shut and keep taking every picture Sarah asks for.
"I think I should have something I can work with from these. Thanks, for helping me out. It was so much fun to spend some time with you," Sarah says, making her way back to the ship without looking back.
It isn't exactly your idea of fun to take pictures all afternoon, but you are finally alone, and you can enjoy your book. You take Sarah's chaise lounge under the shade of the canopy. Even with the breeze gently fluttering the sheer curtains hanging off the canopy, you are still dripping sweat. You had to stand directly in the sun to get all of the shots until your wet tank top clung to your body.
You check the beach to make sure it’s empty before slipping your shirt off and setting it next to you on the empty lounge chair. You feel so much cooler as the breeze snakes through the gaps of your lacy bralette. You open your book and are so thankful for the silence. You get sucked into the story on the pages, so much so that you don’t hear the voices approaching until they are only a few feet from you.
"Can you call and make sure the interest rate we discussed earlier is set in stone?"
"Of course, sir."
You don't have time to slip back into your shirt, so you press the open book to your chest, taking advantage of the little coverage it offers you. You look up to find Joel and Reggie staring at you. Reggie quickly averts his eyes. Joel stares openly at your body, and when his eyes meet yours, you know he wants you as much as you want him.
Reggie apologizes, "We didn't realize you were out here. We will give you some privacy." He keeps his head down and shuffles through the sand back to the dock.
"We aren't leaving for a few more hours." Joel holds your gaze as tightly as you’re holding the open book to your chest. "Take your time and enjoy yourself. I'll make sure no one comes down and bothers you if you'd like to resume reading," Joel offers. He winks at you and then follows Reggie back to the dock.
You watch Joel as he walks away, his neatly pressed linen button-up fluttering gently in the breeze. Once he and Reggie are at a safe distance, you grab your shirt off of the lounge chair next to you and slip it over your head. You let yourself fall backward on the plush cushions and close your eyes, imagining Joel undressing you the way he had done with his eyes when he realized you were wearing nothing but your bralette.
A wave of heat rushes through you at the thought until you remember where you are. You sit up so quickly that you make your head spin. After waiting a few seconds to regain your balance, you place your book under your arm, and with your head down, you race back to your room. As soon as your door clicks closed behind you, you head for the shower, throwing your clothes to the floor on your way there. You stand for a long time under the cool water. Eventually, you feel the embarrassment wash down the drain. It takes even longer for the heat Joel made you feel to wash away.
Wrapping yourself in a towel, you make your way out of the bathroom. You would love to sit on the balcony and let the breeze help extinguish what you’re feeling, but you figure you've already taken too much risk for one day. Instinctively, you grab your phone off of the bed to text your friends an update.
You: If I could die of embarrassment, you two would be making funeral arrangements as we speak.
Lin: Oooo, is there some daddy drama we need to know about?
You: Unfortunately, yes. I was just lying on the beach in my bralette, and I had no idea Joel was walking by until it was too late.
Aubrey: I'm sure he didn't mind. If it is that one you bought on our last shopping trip, I know he didn't mind!
Lin: So what did you do? Let him stand there in awe?
You: So not funny, you two! I covered myself with the book I was reading… but we definitely shared a moment.
Lin: Sounds steamier than those romance novels you read!
You: I think I am in way over my head. What do I do? We are staying at his house in the Bahamas for the next few days. We should get there later tonight.
Lin: Let it happen!
Aubrey: Just see where it goes, but if you want to leave, I will find you a plane out of there.
You: It might not be a bad idea to get that flight information. Would you mind Aubrey?
Aubrey: Of course, I will send you the details; that way, you have them if you need them.
You: Thank you. I will keep you both updated!
You close your phone and sigh. You don't want to leave, but it might be for the best, so you don't do something stupid. The thought of leaving this vacation is a weighted decision. If you don't see Todd again for the rest of your life, you'll be overjoyed. However, the thought of possibly never seeing Joel again, of never finding out if you could be more, is painful to think about. Your head is spinning over what the best decision is. So, instead of making any big decisions, you get yourself dressed, fully expecting another quiet day at sea. Exhausted from the heat of the morning and Sarah's impromptu photo shoot, you throw yourself on the bed and close your eyes for what feels like a few minutes.
A light knocking on your door wakes you up, and your eyes take a moment to adjust to the lighting in the room. A quick look out your balcony window, and you know you've slept way longer than you had intended. The golden glow of sunset is streaming through the windows, dusting everything in a light pink hue.
"Brenna! Hey, what's going on?" you ask as you open the door, happy to see a familiar face.
"I was sent up to help you with your luggage. We should be arriving at the Miller's vacation home in about an hour," Brenna explains.
"Oh, wow. I slept a lot longer than I meant to," you say and hold the door open for Brenna to enter your room. You try to rub the sleep from your eyes as she walks into your room.
"No worries, the only thing you missed was the 'Richies' showing off in the pool all day," Brenna reports.
"Then it sounds like I made the right decision. How were they showing off?" you ask.
"Oh, you know the usual 'I'm so annoyed my parents bought me the wrong color convertible,' 'I can't believe he really thought that I drank anything but sparkling water,' 'the sheets in my room are so uncomfortable–the ones on my dad's yacht are Egyptian cotton.'"
You laugh and shake your head. Brenna does a great impression of the things you have heard from different members of the group all week. You head to the closet, Brenna right behind you. "I don't think it will actually take me an hour to get everything packed up. Most of my stuff can just be thrown back in my suitcase, and my new clothes are all still in the garment bags," you say.
"It must be my lucky day. I was in that girl Megan's room earlier, and it looked like she tried on an entire store's worth of clothes and threw them on the floor when they weren't what she was looking for. I feel horrible for whoever got assigned to her room," Brenna comments.
"I would pity anyone who had to work for Megan. I avoid her at all costs. When she glares at you, it feels like you're going to start burning right on the spot," you say.
"I know, right? She's the worst of all of Sarah's friends, but her dad owns some luxury watch company, so she has been a regular on the guest lists for a long time," Brenna explains.
"Brenna, what is the vacation house like?" you ask.
"It's more than someone like you or me could ever believe one person could afford," Brenna replies.
As the yacht pulls up to the private dock of the Miller's Bahama vacation home, the size of the mansion is on full display. The white colonial-style mansion is three stories tall, with cantilever balconies off of the second floor. An illuminated infinity pool rests at the top of the white sanded private beach. A small runway off to the side of the property ends at a white stone gazebo that juts out into the ocean. Full palm trees edge the beach, making it feel secluded from the rest of the island. Music plays from the large deck, and shadows of people dot the beach and poolside.
Sarah rushes down to the dock, where a group of very rich women wait for you. Sarah squeals and thrusts her hand forward to show off her engagement ring. This is followed by echoed squeals from the group. You hesitate as your feet hit the dock, not wanting to get in the middle of the model-like women.
"Oh, sweetie, the maid's entrance is around to the side," one of the women says.
You stop in your tracks, not knowing how to respond to the assumption. You feel a warm palm on your lower back push you gently forward past the woman. Joel.
He leans down close to your ear and whispers, "Don't let them intimidate you. You're twice the woman any of them could ever be." His breath tickles your neck, and goosebumps prickle the skin down your arms. You look up at him and give him a weak smile. "Let me show you where you’ll be staying," he says quietly as he lets the corner of his mouth brush your earlobe.
"Thank you," you nearly moan.
Joel keeps his hand on your lower back as you walk to the mansion. He leads you through the back doors and into a living room with a giant chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. Two fish tanks containing every color of tropical fish rest on either side of the large staircase you take to the second floor.
"This is one of my favorite rooms in the entire house," Joel says. He leads you into an elegant bedroom with white double doors exiting onto one of the balconies you had seen from the yacht. Palm fronds are a recurring theme in the decorations throughout the room in a pale green color.
"It's so beautiful; I wouldn't dare touch anything," you say.
"Nonsense. Make yourself comfortable. It's one of three master bedrooms, so you have your own ensuite just through that door there," Joel says, gesturing to an open door on the other side of the room.
"I don't know if I belong in one of the master suites. I would really be okay with one of the smaller rooms," you say.
"This is where you belong. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.”
—
Waking up in the enormous master suite, you find yourself bathed in the soft glow of morning coming through the windows. The tranquillity is broken by screams of irritation from the floor below.
Wrapping the robe Joel had given you around yourself, you open the door to your room and hurry down the stairs to see what's going on. "You have got to be kidding me! This is completely unacceptable!" A woman with hair matching Sarah's is yelling at Max, the staff member you'd played cards with on the yacht.
"Ma'am, I don't know what to tell you. Mr. Miller has already assigned the rooms; I cannot go against his direct orders. There is already another guest staying in that room, and I am sure Mr. Miller would not approve of me kicking them out of the room," Max replies, clearly exasperated.
"We will see about that. You will be lucky if you still have a job by the time I'm through with you," the woman retorts and spots you on the stairs. Her face is devoid of emotion, probably from the excessive and very obvious botox treatments. "Come to enjoy the show, did we?" she asks, but you can't tell if she's trying to glare at you or not. You turn around, deciding it's best not to get involved.
A few hours later, you dare to leave your room again but are met with more yelling coming from the lower floor. Your empty stomach protests the idea of going back through there, so you hope you can make it to the kitchen without anyone seeing you.
"So you are the one that took my room," Marnie says immediately, and you know it's her.
You turn to find not only Marnie but Sarah, Todd, and Megan too. Megan has a small smirk on her mouth that she tries and fails to hide.
"What are you talking about?" you ask, pretending you have no idea what she means.
"I just found out that one of the master bedrooms went to you. I am stuck on the bottom floor in one of the guest rooms like some commoner," Marnie complains.
"I don't see the problem. I was told which room had been assigned to me. I didn't ask for it."
"Oh, you must be the poor one. It makes sense why you can't understand something so simple," Marnie says with a pointed look at your simple clothes.
Megan laughs at Marnie's comment, and Sarah playfully slaps her arm to get her to stop. You can't bring yourself to look at Todd's face, but you figure he's getting a laugh out of this interaction as well.
"Do you know who I am?" Marnie asks.
You internally cringe. You've always hated customers who tried the 'do you know who I am' card at the bar. "I'm guessing that you’re Sarah's mother," you say as calmly as you can.
"Exactly. So you need to pack up your things and get out of my room."
"I'm not moving my stuff. I was assigned that room, and I'm going to stay in it."
Marnie starts stammering an explanation, but Joel walks into the room without her noticing. Relief floods your entire body, knowing Joel is here. He has an angry burning look in his eyes that makes Marnie nervous.
"This whole thing was just a misunderstanding. I just figured, with our history, I would have one of the bigger rooms. I just remembered, though, that I love the view of the ocean from the room I'm in, that’s  probably why you picked it for me," Marnie explains.
Joel doesn't say anything in response, and Marnie tries her best to make an escape. Sarah and Todd follow Marnie out of the kitchen, and you feel heat on your lower back. Joel has placed his hand there and leans close to you.
"Are you okay?" he asks quietly.
You nod and step away from him, grabbing an apple out of the fruit bowl on the counter.
The rest of the morning is spent carefully avoiding Marnie, but it seems like everywhere you go, Todd shows up a few minutes later. He's always talking very loudly about what needs to be done before the engagement party. Not wanting to talk to him, you give up and go back to your room. You go out to the balcony and lean over the railing to watch the ocean. A few men are surfing, and you can make out Joel sitting on his surfboard bobbing in the water.
"Baby cakes?"
You look over to see Todd leaning over the railing of the adjacent balcony, straining to see you on yours. You shake your head at him.
"Please, I just need to talk to you."
"You have nothing to say that I would be interested in hearing," you say and go back into your room, shutting the door behind you a little more forcefully than you intended. Your heart is pounding, and you know you need to get control of your anger, but you can't do that knowing Todd is in the next room over. So you grab your book and a beach towel out of the bathroom before heading down to the beach. You walk through the living area of the mansion and nearly run into two giant ice sculptures as they are being brought through to the kitchen.
"Oh, careful!" Sarah says, rushing over to inspect the ice sculpture. You quickly step back to avoid a life-size rendition of Sarah and Todd embracing.
"Oh wow…" is the only thing you can say, looking at the ice sculpture.
"I know, right? It is absolutely perfect," Sarah beams.
"It sure is something."
"Mom commissioned it as soon as she found out about the engagement party."
"Well, I want the best for my little girl," Marnie's voice flows down the stairs as she makes her way toward you with Todd on her arm.
"It really is the perfect embodiment of us both," Todd says with a smile in your direction.
"It matches your heart, Todd. Ice cold," you mutter under your breath.
You make a hasty exit out the back door and nearly run towards the beach, needing to get away from both versions of Todd.
You spread your towel out in the sand and lounge on the ground, hoping to continue the book you had been trying to read the day before. Sarah's demanding voice carries all the way down to the private beach.
You need a better distraction. You throw your head back and look up at the bright blue sky. You don't think you can make it through this engagement party. Your phone vibrates with a text message from Aubrey, containing flight information for a flight leaving the next day. It would cost the rest of your savings, but maybe it would be for the best if you left.
"Every time I've seen you lately, you've had that book with you, but you never seem to be reading it."
You sit up to find Joel standing in front of you, shirtless, soaking wet, and holding a surfboard. Beads of water are sliding down his naked torso, and you can't help but watch them caress his skin, slowly sneaking lower. You look back up at Joel's teasing smile.
"Do you need a towel? You're dripping on me," you say with a playful smile.
"Would you share yours? Unless you'd like to join me for one more wave."
"I have never been surfing," you admit.
"I would be happy to teach you, as long as you don't send us both flying into the water again," Joel says with a wink and a charming smile.
“I can't make any promises about that," you say with a laugh.
“Then it might be best for you to stay on dry land. The engagement party is supposed to start in a few hours."
You sigh quietly and look down at your toes; you buried them under the sand. You pull them out and brush off the sand.
“Well then, I'm going to head back up to shower and get ready." Joel offers you his hand and helps you off the ground.
“I'll see you there." You hand Joel the towel you had been sitting on.
“In the shower?" He asks with a raised eyebrow.
“I'll see you at the party Joel," you reply with a seductive glance over your shoulder as you walk back toward the mansion, leaving him behind you. You can feel his eyes on you as you walk away.
The soft fabric of your chiffon cocktail dress swishes against your thighs as you make your way downstairs. The music is already thumping through the house from the back patio, making the windows rattle slightly. The infinity pool is illuminated, giving the entire party a slight glow. The first place you head is to the bartender, knowing it's going to take a lot to get through this night and needing all the help you can get.
"Would you like a Sarah Lemon Drop or a Todd Tequila Shot?"
"Are these the only two things on the menu?" you ask. You shouldn't be surprised that they have signature drinks named after themselves.
The bartender gives you a sympathetic smile, "Or we have the Marry Me Margarita."
This is going to be a very long night.
"A margarita then…"
You walk away with your margarita in hand and join a small group of people surrounding the life-size ice sculpture of Sarah and Todd. A woman turns to you and asks, "So how do you know the couple?"
"Oh, I went to school with Sarah at NYU." You figure it's best to leave out how you know Todd.
"I didn't realize that Sarah went to college. She never mentioned it at our photo shoot in Greece last year. That's how we met," she says with an air of superiority.
"What did you study at NYU?" a man says, entering the conversation.
"Oh, I got my Bachelor's in history and I just graduated with my Master's in political science. I'm going to Harvard for Law school in the fall."
"That sounds absolutely terrible. I went for the first week of college and dropped out. They wanted me to show up for classes before, like ten in the morning," the woman says.
"Yeah, some of the classes can be pretty early," you say, not knowing how to respond.
"So, are your parents making you go to law school or something? Does your dad own a law firm? I have a friend whose dad is making him become a lawyer so he can take over the law firm someday," the man asks you.
"No, I'm not being forced, I just have always wanted to be a lawyer. No one in my family owns a law firm, although I wish they did. That would make finding a job after I graduate a lot easier," you answer with a nervous laugh.
The two give you a strange look as though they had never met someone who willingly went to college to pursue a career simply because it was what they wanted.
"So you're, like, smart," the woman says in a patronizing tone. They turn to each other and actually laugh at you while you’re still standing next to them.
"Don't tell me you are putting yourself through school too. Let me guess, you're a waitress or something," the man says with a mean smile.
"I'm a bartender," you say quietly.
This answer sends them both over the edge with giggles. They move forward, effectively cutting you out of the group with their bodies. You realize that you have nothing in common with these people and turn to leave.
Tears sting the corners of your eyes, and you need to get away from the thumping beat of the DJ's speakers. You refuse to cry in front of these people. You walk down the runway to the gazebo that juts out into the ocean, so the waves crash against all sides, drowning out the music and laughter from the party. You brace yourself on the backrest of an iron bench, wiping away an escaping tear from your face. You know you don't belong here, and you can't stand staying another day. You pull your phone out of the clutch you're carrying and send a quick text to Aubrey and Lin.
You: I just got laughed at for wanting to become a lawyer. I need to get away from these people.
Aubrey: Do you want me to book you that flight?
You: Yes, I'm ready to come home.
Aubrey: Bad news. The flight tomorrow is booked.
You: When is the next flight out of here?
Aubrey: In two days.
You: Book it. I will just find a way to hide out for one more day.
Lin: You can get through this! I will be waiting at the airport to pick you up.
You: I can't thank you two enough. What would I do without you? I miss you both, and I can't wait to see you.
Aubrey: Your flight has been changed. We will see you in two days. Hang in there! We love you!
Lin: What Aubrey said. Just two more days!
You: Love you girls too!
A hand grips the top of yours on the bench and gives it a small squeeze.
"I have been trying to talk to you all day. Why have you been avoiding me?"
You look down and are disappointed that it's not Joel's tanned hand on top of yours. You rip your hand out from under Todd's and give him an icy glare. "What do you need?"
"I need to talk to you in private."
"This is private enough," you say, looking back at the party. You know someone would hear you if you screamed loud enough.
"Just come back to my room with me." Todd leans in close and whispers, "I miss you."
"You can talk to me here or not at all," you say and take a large step back and away from him.
"You look amazing, baby cakes. I have never seen you wear a dress like that. It looks good on you and would look even better off," he says with a sleazy smile.
"Do not call me that! Don't think about me like that! Does your fiance know where you are?" you hiss.
"Of course, she doesn't, and she doesn't have to."
"Does she know anything, Todd? Does she know about our past? Does she know that you dated me for years and how you were still dating me when you two met?" Your breaths are coming in ragged gasps now. You have never been so angry at Todd before. You can't stand the fact that he has not only thrown you over for someone else after you had wasted years of your life on him, but now he has the nerve to try and win you back at his engagement party.
"Of course, she knows," he says quickly while looking away.
"You are such a liar!" Your voice echoes against the pillars of the gazebo. Angry tears burn your eyes, but you refuse to let them fall.
"Are you sure I'm the liar and not Sarah? What if she just invited you here to make you watch her get engaged to your ex? It sounds like just the kind of game that she and her rich friends would find so entertaining. They have been laughing at you behind your back this entire trip."
"You've always been the liar, Todd. I wish I had seen that from the very beginning. You obviously don't know Sarah. There is no way she would be that cruel. I never mentioned you by name to her when we were dating because she never seemed to care about my personal life. And if they've been laughing at me this entire time, why didn't you tell me sooner? You're just lying to save yourself." You hope the words you say are true. Spending this much time with Sarah is a rare occurrence, and she seems different. However, you can't fathom that she would intentionally cause you pain.
"We have the chance to get back at her for humiliating you," Todd whispers.
"What are you talking about?" you ask, puzzled by the sudden change in topic.
"Take me back. She never has to know that we made up. Everything could go back to how it was."
"Back to how it was? Really, Todd? How do you think that would ever work? You expect me to be fine with the fact that you are marrying Sarah? Do you really think Sarah would be okay with her husband having a girlfriend on the side?" you ask, taken aback by his request.
"I would still marry Sarah, and we would have more money than we would even know what to do with. As soon as my dad makes me a partner, I will have to go on business trips all the time, and you could come with me. Sarah will never know that we are back together."
"You're ridiculous, Todd. It's all about the money, isn't it? You want everything that you can't have, and you are only marrying Sarah for her money."
"Well, she's not bad to look at either," Todd says as if you are the one being unreasonable.
"I can't believe I ever loved you. You are a terrible person. Just leave me alone, Todd," you say, turning away from him and crossing your arms. You are drained from your conversation and realize that there is no way to make him see how wrong he is being.
"Take me back, please," Todd says, reaching out and grabbing your arm.
"Don't touch me," you say, pulling away from him.
Someone clears their throat at the entrance of the gazebo. Todd drops his arm and takes a step back. "Todd, Sarah is looking for you. I think it would be best if you went and found her."
Todd doesn't respond and quickly leaves. You watch as he stops in front of Joel, waiting for him to move so that he can leave. Joel remains where he is standing, so Todd has to awkwardly squeeze past him. If you weren't so angry and trying to hold back the tears still hot in your eyes, you would have laughed.
You let out a frustrated sigh that turns into a small sob. Joel is by your side in seconds. "Are you okay?" Joel asks, putting a hand on each of your arms and rubbing them comfortingly.
"I'm fine," you lie, trying to hide the few tears that have fallen down your face.
"You're shaking. You are not okay. Come with me," Joel says, holding out his hand, and you take it.
"I don't want to go back to the party," you say.
"We don't have to go back to the party.”
"Then where are we going?" you ask, your voice cracking.
"To my room.”
Joel holds your hand as he leads you through a side door of the mansion, avoiding the large crowd of the engagement party. When the door closes behind you, the music and noise of the group become muffled. All you can hear is the low rumble of the bass as it vibrates through the walls.
Joel and you walk in silence, and he never lets go of your hand as he leads you back to his room. Joel's room is decorated in soft grays and silvers. The massive bed stands alone in the center of the room with a crystal chandelier hanging over the center.
Your feet are sore, so you slip your heels off and set them by the double door entrance of the room. Joel clicks the lock on the door, walks across the room, and sits down in an armchair on the other side of the room. You follow, your bare feet cold on the tile floors.
The room's soft coldness makes you feel like you're surrounded by a cloud, comfortable and warm but still in a storm. You nearly sink into the plush armchair that matches Joel's. You would love to be enveloped by the chair and not have the conversation you know is coming. Unfortunately, the truth will likely bring on a storm of its own.
"I need to know the truth."
"I know you do," you say. You let the silence fall between you, not knowing how to start. So you wait for Joel to ask a question first.
"You've known Todd for longer than just this week, haven't you?"
"I met him at NYU in one of my general classes," you admit.
"So you've known him for years?"
"Almost four years," you say barely above a whisper. "We dated for three."
You hear Joel take a deep breath at your confession.
"Why didn't you tell me or Sarah?"
"Honestly, I didn't know what to do. When I got here, I had no idea that Todd would be on board too. Sarah introduced me to him as her new boyfriend, and he acted as though we had never met before. The situation was so uncomfortable. I was still in shock and so hurt."
"So you just decided to say nothing instead?" his eyebrows cinch together. All you can manage is a nod as the tears blur the edges of your vision. "You said you were hurt seeing him again. How long ago was this break up?"
"He officially broke up with me the day before I walked to receive my Master's degree. We had been fighting for weeks before that, though, when I found out he had been cheating on me for months."
"Shit. With my daughter?"
"Yes…they met at my birthday party."
"Did she know?"
"I honestly don't think she knew. Or at least if she did, she didn't know I was the girlfriend."
"I'm so sorry. But how did you expect to spend an entire vacation keeping this all a secret?"
"By the time I came to my senses, the yacht had already departed. I figured I would avoid Todd, and at the end of this vacation, I would go back to my normal life. I would never see him again after I moved, and I honestly didn't think that Sarah and Todd would last. Sarah never dates anyone for longer than a few months. I never imagined that Sarah would get engaged to him."
"Why has he been following you around?" Joel says sternly.
"I don't know why he can't just let our relationship go…" you say.
You hear Joel sigh, and when he speaks again, his tone is softer. "What did he have to say to you tonight in the gazebo? You looked like he had you cornered."
"He was lying to me...." you attempt to avoid his question, not wanting to go into the awful details of your conversation with Todd.
"About what?" Joel asks, he was clearly going to keep pressing until you told him everything.
"He told me Sarah knew and that she invited me on purpose as some kind of joke for her and all her rich friends."
"I know my daughter can be thoughtless at times, but I don't believe she would purposely be so cruel," he says, rubbing his hands on his face.
"I don't believe him," you assure Joel, seeing the worried look on his face.
"Why would he outright lie like that?"
It takes you a few minutes to respond, trying to find the best way to word your answer. You sigh and look down at your feet. "He was trying to convince me to sleep with him again… to get back at Sarah."
Anger heats Joel's gaze as his eyes bore into yours. "Do you want him again?"
"What are you talking about? No! Of course, not. I don't want him in any way ever again. He completely betrayed me," you say, completely shocked by his question. You'd figured his anger would be towards Todd, not you. Joel's eyes remain dark, and he doesn't respond. Instead, he gets up from his chair and starts pacing the room. "Aren't you worried that this is the man that your daughter has picked to marry?" you ask, exasperated that he is questioning you about wanting to sleep with your ex. As if you are so weak that you can't possibly say no to a man who has utterly betrayed your trust.
"If I go and tell Sarah what's going on and try to convince her to end the engagement, then he would be free to come back to you. Is that what you want?" Joel asks through clenched teeth.
Joel's words sting.
"Why are you twisting everything I say?"
"How can I trust anything you say after you've lied to everyone this entire time?"
The tears truly start falling then. You quickly stand from your chair and make your way to the door. Before you even reach your shoes next to the door, Joel grabs your wrist, making you pause.
"Stop. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that," he says softly as he runs his thumb in circles on your wrist. Normally, that would have made your heart flutter, but at that moment, the only thing you want is to be alone on a flight headed for home.
"I don't need this from you." You use the back of your free hand to wipe the tears streaming down your cheeks.
"I just hate imagining you with him," he says quietly.
You let the unsaid meaning of his words float between you. Neither of you acknowledges the implications of his words.
"I just have to know. Do you love him?"
"Will you believe what I tell you?" you ask, finally turning around to look at him again.
He lets your wrist fall from his fingers. "Yes. I promise," he says with a note of fear in his eyes. Is he truly afraid that you are still in love with a man who treated you so poorly? He reaches up to your face and wipes away another stray tear.
"No. I do not love him," you say pointedly, your voice steady.
"Did you love him?" Joel asked softly.
"I was with him for three years, Joel," you say with a sigh
"That's not what I asked. Did you love him?" he asks again, more forcefully.
"I did love him, but after everything that's happened, how could I still love him? I was wrong about so many things in our relationship," you respond.
"What if you change your mind?" Joel resumes pacing the room.
"I won't. I don't take betrayal lightly," you say firmly.
"I just wish you would have said something from the very beginning."
Anger surges through you. Anger because Joel doesn't seem to understand that everything between you and Todd is over. You don't want anything to do with Todd because the only person you want is Joel. You only want Joel. "You don't get it though, do you?" you say, stepping up to him, blocking his path.
"What am I not getting? Tell me why you lied to me for so long. I would have understood."
"Would you really have understood? Don't you get it? If I had told the truth from the very beginning, I would have been on the first flight home. I would have left as soon as we made the first port," you say, raising your voice.
Joel stares at you, still not understanding. You take another step closer to him, so close that your bodies almost touch. You take a deep breath to calm yourself down before continuing.
"If I had told the truth, I would have never gotten to know you!"
Joel looks at you intensely. He knows you're right.
"I wanted to tell you first thing, but I was just scared. I don't fit in here, remember? The last thing I needed was to make Sarah mad. And who even knows if Todd would've owned up to it? He could've pretended I was lying to cover for himself," you explain, turning away from him.
He gently grabs your arm, making you face him. He looks down at your hand and then interlaces his fingers with yours.
"So, you're glad we've gotten to know each other then?" he asks with a sly smile.
You can't help but smile back. "Of course, I am. Isn't it obvious? I spend most of my time with you."
He nods. "That's true." He lets go of your hand, but your fingertips still touch.
"Todd wanted you to have sex with him to make Sarah mad? He seems to be pretty hung up on you,” Joel says, looking at you.
You raise your eyebrows slightly at that. "Are you trying to ask me about our sex life?"
Joel looks at you. "Honestly, I'm just jealous he knows what sex with you is like."
Your cheeks grow warm, and your heartbeat quickens.
"Why would you be jealous of that? I'm sure you've been with plenty of women," you say.
"Yes, I've been with women, but none as beautiful as you–inside and out," Joel replies, looking into your eyes.
You stare at each other, your fingertips brushing against each other. He moves closer to you and lifts your chin up. You gaze up at him, and he brushes a strand of hair out of your face with a smile and then ever so slowly, he leans down and kisses you.

Dead Plate Vincent x male Reader
You are planning to ask a question that might make how you feel obvious, but at this point you don’t care. Even with the blowup he had you still want to ask him, but it just made you even more nervous, because you're not even sure if he likes men. And worse, what if he doesn't want you around him, if he hates you after?! All these what ifs are freaking you out but you need to know, you've had these feelings for far too long, they are no longer pleasant, they cause you anxiety because they won't go away, they are always there and you can’t get the chief out of your head. As you sheepishly step outside, you swallow the lump in your throat, trying to gain the courage to just ask if he is single, but alas, your anxiety had other plans. As you sweat bullets and your head goes blank you stand like an idiot in front of the man you love with your whole soul.
As you stand there panicking internally, chief Vincent, the most beautiful man you have ever seen, a charismatic man with a mean sense of humor and a dangerous temper that is unseen by the public eye, is standing there waiting for you to speak, while also trying to get rid of the anger from a few minutes earlier. “H-hay, Vincent..?” “What do you want?” he said without missing a beat, but quickly regretting it when he saw the flicker of fear in your eyes. You glance at the door, the ground, trying to look anywhere but his frustrated eyes in an attempt gone vain to calm yourself down.
You try to mutter out a sentence that will help you in this situation to not make yourself look like a fool in front of him. “A-are you… ok?” he looked surprised you even asked that, you personally think that that poor cook should be asked this, but you had panicked so much you had even forgotten about the confession Rody had talked you into. He had stared for a few seconds, looked away and stated that he was fine, he was just upset at the cook’s incompetence, and that you had no reason to be afraid of him. “Well… i-it not that i'm scared of you, i-it’s just… nevermind, i just wanted to see if you were ok!” you smiled a bit before leaving, seeing Rody waiting for you as you stepped in. “Hey! Hey! How did it go? Did he smile? Did he kiss you? Did he-""I didn't even ask.” you blurt out, feeling oddly intimidated when you see the gears turning in the ginger’s head.
“Really?” you feel like you're shrinking. You nodded slowly. He just hms, and proceeds to walk past you, gently nudging you out of the way. “No. wait- Rody please!” you say, getting more panicked with each word that slips out of your mouth. “Listen Y/N, I can’t handle to see my best friend of 3 days torture himself by letting the love of his life slip through his fingers, you want him and I can see that, just stay here and listen let me handle the rest.” you felt yourself turn into a hurricane on the inside, after he walked out of the door, you listened to the conversation the best you could from the inside, but you could only hear the tones. You felt your heart drop when you heard Rody say “are you single? I'm asking for a friend!” a bit too loudly.
The anxiety got worse when you couldn’t tell the difference with Vincent's tone. You loved how mysterious he can be, but right now it’s causing you nothing but the want for the earth to claim you early. As you heard Rody’s footsteps getting closer to the door you backed away so you didn’t get hit with it. Rody stepped in to see you stiff as a board, and gave you a soft smile that made you feel a little less scared of what could come next. You may have only known him for 3 days, but he made working here a little more enjoyable during work hours. As he walked past you, you noticed that Vincent followed behind him, and then panicked all over again, and your dear friend noticed this and patted you on the shoulder which may or may not have outed you then and there. Rody you dumbass.
Just as you thought would happen, Vincent took notice of this simple yet significant gesture, and walked up to you. You felt the air get caught in your throat and was daming your friend for his caring nature but not really meaning it. He had his arms crossed with an unreadable expression on his face. “We need to talk somewhere private, meet me in my office after your shift is over.” ok, it could be worse. He didn't seem mad, but he didn’t seem necessarily happy either. Oh shit oh shit shit shitshitshit-
“Hay it’ll be fine! I'd say that coming from him it’s pretty promising!” Rody confidently stated with that optimistic smile. “Shoosh Rody, I think I know what to expect, I've worked here longer anyway…” Rody did his best to console you when you both got a free moment, but you're completely sure that you’re facing a rejection by the end of the shift. You kept a smile on though because customers can’t see how miserable you feel, that would just be unprofessional.
By the end of the shift you did as you were told and went to the office, knocking before you walked in out of respect. You had an anxiety spike as you stood under his gaze, but this time it wasn’t as harsh, it almost seemed more welcoming and felt kinder. “There you are, you were nearly late.” you expected him to respond like that, he's pessimistic. “I know, but it’s better than not showing up at all.” he nodded in agreement, and continued. “So, Rody told me what I assume is what you were initially going to tell me.” you shyly nodded, feeling more vulnerable than you have in awhile.
He walked over to you and had the tiniest bit of blush that if you weren't so close you would have never noticed. Your face is a rosy shade of red, and you feel yourself burning up while trying to keep composure and failing. He’s only just mentioned the elephant in the room and you've already become a flustered mess. “I just wanted to ask you about it, but..” he leaned so close your noses were touching. “I think I already have my answer.” he says in a hushed voice and an almost seductive smile. You trail your hands up his chest and rest them on his shoulders, looking into his eyes. You glanced at his lips, and quickly closed the gap. As the heavenly kiss went on, things were getting a bit messy and felt a bit too fast, so you pulled away to catch your breath.
“Is everything ok?” you nodded with a grin. “Yes, this is perfect..” he wrapped his arms around you, as you laid your head on his shoulder, with a deep sigh, feeling content with where you have found yourself.

Circus Escapade ( Cross guild x Gn!Dracule!child!Reader)
A/N Finished my essay ya’ll!! So I made this for you guys, sorry it took so long anon! Also idk how I feel about it, no idea why but the first word that comes to mind is surreal?
Reader here is replaced by Dokucha which means Reader in Japanese.
Dividers by @/saradika
Tumblr media
Dokucha knew that what they were doing was likely to get them in trouble not only with their dad but their uncle would not be the happiest either
But they just wanted one small peek of the show, a small peek at what happened behind the tarp; that’s all they wanted
They grin, popping their head slowly over their hiding spot and watching as the different acts went about performing
The stage was filled with different acts performing, each one seemingly more outrageous than the other; some were dangerous, some were more comedic, and a few even seemed a bit off to the audience…but that was the point; it’s a circus after all
A new act has now taken the center stage, the lights dimmed and the curtains drawn as Buggy himself came out, using his devil fruit ability to perform various tricks
They grin, giggling at his comedic actions, watching enthralled as the different body parts move around independently
Buggy’s comedic act continued; his body parts continued moving all around, one arm reaching over, picking at his teeth, and one of his legs would do a silly little kick before each body part would come together again.
His act was rather amusing, and as the act reached his peak, he came over to the podium, extending his arms toward the audience
“Hahaha!! Applause, Applause, Applause!!,” he screamed, waving his arms around, trying to get the audience to clap for him
They laughed along with the audience, gleefully enjoying the act until they felt something lift them up
They squeak as they suddenly are brought right up to the ringmaster himself
“Well, looks like we have a break-in!” Buggy laughs but stills as he takes a closer look at them
“W-Wait, you’re Mihawk’s-
“Clown.”
Everyone turns their head at the sudden entrance of the ex-warlords; the circus growing eerily quiet, everyone too afraid to move a muscle in fear of angering the duo more
“Buggy…” Mihawk seethes, his eyebrows knit together, his tone of voice dangerously eery
Crocodile, while maintaining his usual stoic expression, holds back a low grow
Buggy’s expression changed when he saw the two enter, his body parts freezing into place, his eyes widening slightly as he gulped, his voice growing quieter as he spoke
“Cro-Crocodile, Mihawk…”
Buggy gulped, taking a few steps back as he spoke, “I ca- I can explain!”
“Do you think I care for explanations?” Mihawk glares at Buggy, his gaze becoming sharp; he takes a step closer
“W-Wait, I swear I had nothing to do with this. I didn’t bring them here!”
“Your hand on them tells a different story,” he growls, ripping way the hand from Dokucha and embracing them
“Tha-I swear I can explain. I didn’t know.”
“Dokucha.”
They flinch at their father's sharp tone, and although they were aware that the anger was not directed at them, they were also going to get one hell of a scolding
“Go to your room; I will come to talk to you after I'm done with him.”
They nod
“Sorry Papa”
“Now you,” Mihawk said coldly, looking at Buggy, who just stood there, sweating profusely, his entire body shaking in fear as the duo advanced on him.
“H-Hey, I'm sure we can talk this out.”
The last thing Dokucha heard as they flew out of the tent was the cries of the mercy of the crown; they flinched at the sound
“Oops…”
Tumblr media
Did buggy probably die? Yeah, is everything Dokusha said to that oops? Yeah cause their a menace

In Death's Embrace Pt. 2
Jason Todd x Death!Reader
Part one!
Tumblr media
Jason shoots up in bed, his hand stretched out. He’s sweating, drenched in his own panic in fear. His hand falls into his lap, still twitching. He doesn’t remember what he was dreaming about, doesn’t remember what he was trying to grasp.
He knows he failed. He knows it slipped through his fingers like sand. He doesn’t think there’s anything more tragic in the world. He doesn't know why.
“Once again, you amaze me. Breaking the rules of the universe, not once, but twice.”
His hand is wrapped around his gun before you even finish the sentence. It’s pointed between your eyes once you do. To your credit, whoever just broke into his apartment without triggering any of his alarms, you don’t even flinch. No, you just fold your hands behind your back and give him an odd look.
You tilt your head, eyes moving over the scars on his face and catching on the lock of white hair he sports. Then, your face breaks into a smile, and something in Jason’s heart jumps. There’s a knowing in your eyes that he doesn’t like. An understanding.
You see through him, somehow. He doesn’t like it. He’ll shoot you for the offence.
“Who are you? How did you get in here?” Jason demands, assessing you like you assess him. You don’t look like a combatant, in long dark flowing fabrics. Still, he knows not to underestimate someone based on their appearance.
That damned clown never looked like a threat. And now he was standing here, with someone who seemed just as crazy in his bedroom. Only someone that crazy would break into his home.
“Are you going to shoot me?” your words are teasing, eyes fond. Maybe you’re crazier, then. You don’t believe he’ll do it. He will.
He should have already. It’s base curiosity that holds his trigger finger. That’s what he thinks it is, at least.
“I might,” he finally says, “Again, who the fuck are you?”
“It’s interesting talking to you like this. You knew who I was straight away last time, but this time you turn your weapon to me,” you continue, ignoring his threat. A muscle jumps in his cheek, annoyed at your presence, at your blatant disregard for him.
“Last time?”
Your smile turns into a bright grin. He’s momentarily stunned by it.
“So, you really haven’t won just yet. That gives me a small measure of pride,” you say, walking over to the window with your hands still behind your back, “Maybe enough to spare you from my anger.”
You look over at him again. Purse your lips.
“Maybe not.”
“I think you forget who is holding the gun,” Jason reminds you, clicking his teeth at the way you just shrug.
You go quiet. No more teasing words or ominous warnings. Jason should shoot, shoot now. He’d hate the cleanup, hate the mess, hate all the effort, but it was necessary. You were dangerous. That much was obvious.
Instead, he opens his big dumb mouth and asks, “What do you want?”
You sigh, shaking your head. “Is it terrible I don’t know? Rules are rules after all, but this situation is… complicated. You’re not another Sisyphus, you don’t even want to be here.”
“You broke into my home and started threatening me. That doesn’t sound complicated,” Jason insists. This is such a fucking weird conversation. And Sisyphus? Jason had done his homework, he knew about the mythical man who cheated death. He thinks he’s actually quite a lot like Sisyphus.
He still doesn’t appreciate the comparison.
“Yes well, I don’t want to be here either, de-” your voice cuts off, eyes widen in surprise, and then narrow on him like he caused some great offence. Inside him, he feels his dead little heart wither even further at the sight. Like you being upset with him was one of the worst mistakes of his life.
Once again, you broke into his house. All he’d done was tell you to get lost. Oh, and maybe threaten to shoot you, but who cares about that. He soothes the momentary panic, insisting you obviously hadn’t.
Which is dumb. He’s being an idiot. Jason Todd is being an absolute moron right now, and he just needs to shoot you.
Instead of paying attention to the gun trained on you, you stare out his window, at the streets of Gotham’s Hill district below. The sun is rising, rays bursting through the fog. The people are just getting up with it. It’s one of the few times the city is anything close to quiet. Most are still sleeping, and so is crime.
Warm sunlight catches on your cheek, and again, something inside Jason cries out at the sight. It’s worrying.
“I think I want you dead, again,” you confess.
Jason’s breath whooshes out of his lips, and his gun arm twitches for a second. Well, fuck him, that’s certainly a statement. And again, why hadn’t he shot you?
He still doesn’t do it. He must be crazy, too.
“I’m being greedy. I always have been, of course. It’s what I am… But especially this time, I think I’m being too greedy,” you sound sad, your fingers trailing across the wooden window frame, “I think I shouldn’t be here, but it’s the ones like you who make it hard.”
You rub dust against your fingers, and Jason feels embarrassed for the state of his home. He realises a second later what a stupid thought that is, you broke in. He wonders how many times he’ll have to repeat it to remember it. He feels uncomfortable and off-kilter, and he knows it’s because of you.
He needs to get you out.
“I’ve always hated the special ones, you know. The smart ones. You’re too good at pulling me, manipulating me, tugging on my strings like a puppet. You make me human,” you turn back to him, crossing your arms and resting against the sill. You’re comfortable in his home, more so than he usually is. Calm, relaxed, like the world is at peace, and worries are something of the past.
He wonders what that must be like. Fucking delightful, he bets.
“Are you not human?”
You raise an eyebrow in response.
Shit. Ah, fuck it. His finger tightens, and the recoil jerks his arm. The silencer keeps the early apartment quiet. Quiet, if not for the sound of the bullet clattering to the ground.
You both glance down at the crumpled piece of metal sitting pathetically on the floor. You lean over, pick the piece up, and then lift it to your eye, watching that same sunlight reflecting the early morning in the steel. A small rainbow flitters across your skin. You close your fist, and you stroll over to Jason.
It takes him a moment to remember to be wary of you, and by that time, you already have his hand cradled between yours.
You place the remnants of the bullet in his scarred palm.
“I expect an apology for that later,” your voice is soft, sweet. Loving, even after he shot you in the chest. Not like it did anything. Your fingers curl around his, tracing every crack and crevice. You do it with concentration, with precision, like you were made just to touch him, to comfort him.
A memory, gone in a flash. He feels it’s loss like a toothache.
He swallows, “I’m sorry.”
You laugh, and the sun’s not outside, it’s in his bedroom and it’s smiling and it’s everything and it’s here in his grasp and he knows it’ll be okay again. It has to be okay again. You said it’d be okay, didn’t you? He can’t remember. His head’s swirling, spinning, falling right into you. Right back into you.
“Or now, that’s fine too,” you sound delighted. He’s glad.
You let go of him, and move back to the window, drawn by the view outside. Jason's hand clasp and unclasp. The street obviously fascinates you, your eyes flicking back and forth and tracking the movement of every soul outside. He wants your gaze back on him.
Jason clears his throat. You glance back at him, then pointedly, his right hand.
He can feel his face flush, embarrassingly. He’s still holding the gun. He turns the safety off and tucks it back under his pillow.
He clears his throat again. He wants something from you, expects it, really. But he can’t tell what it is. He thinks you know, though. That you’re withholding it, for some reason. He’s irrationally irritated at that. You said you were greedy, but nothing could compare to his greed.
Even if you wanted him dead. He was starting to put together the pieces, but he couldn’t seem to feel alarmed. No, it simply wasn’t necessary, with you here.
Still, it’s not quite enough. He wants more. He wants to know more. So he waits for you to speak again.
“I’ve thought about doing this so many times over the years. It would’ve been selfish, and more than that, outside of my duty. You’re not one of mine anymore. For a little while, at least.”
He wants to be. He wants to be yours. He wants it more than he can breathe. If he’s yours, maybe you can be his.
You glance to the side, thinking out loud, “But then you went and started remembering. I’ve worked very hard to make sure that’s impossible, you know. That the memories from my realm stay there.”
You turn a disapproving glance his way.
“Of course, far be it for me to get in the way of a Wayne and his decision to break the world. You lot do that far too much, give me too much work,” you mutter that last part, hand moving to your brow. Like you’re massaging away a headache. He should be doing that for you.
“But you did it. And you’re here. And now I am, too. And I have to go soon.”
You drift closer to him, and Jason’s breath catches. He’s still. He doesn’t make a single movement, scared he’ll scare you away. He realises that’s stupid. That you caught a bullet to the chest. That you’re stronger than anything he could imagine.
He still thinks he could startle you if he’s not careful. That you’re like the mist outside, incorporeal. But Jason can do anything if he puts his mind to it. He knows how to catch the wind, how to gather steam on the underside of glass, how to cup sand and water and feathers and everything that would ever want to be outside of his reach.
You’re out of his reach. He has to let you step into it.
You stop a foot away from him. He grinds his teeth, and again, you raise a brow at him. He doesn’t move, despite his muscles screaming at him too. You give him a nod and take another step closer. He still doesn’t move, and you give him a satisfied look.
“So, what should we do, Jason?”
“How do you know my name?”
“What? Did dying strip you of any brains?”
The banter is familiar. He doesn’t mean to ruin it.
“Do you have to leave?” again, a voice in his mind whispers. You look sad, again. Again, again, again. All of this is an again.
“Eventually. Sooner rather than later,” you sigh, “You can keep a secret, can’t you, Jason?”
“Not if you leave.”
It’s a bold move. You take a step back, and he winces. Back and forth, back and forth… Still, he doesn’t take the words back. He can’t, because it’s the truth, and now that you’re here, there’s no going back. He’ll do anything to keep you with him, and if you go too far for him to reach, he’ll follow you.
“I think that’s an unfair request,” you say, and he shakes his head.
“It’s fair. You don’t have to stay forever, just a while.” Now that, that is a lie. You seem to know it, too.
You look out the window again. Jason, after a moment's hesitation, moves over beside you. You don’t flee, your attention is on the people below. He opens the window for you, and you give him another smile. He collects them like the rare treasures they are. You lean out into the air, and he freaks, then realises you’d shrugged off a bullet. He stays close, vigilant, anyway.
“I’m curious, I have to admit. What’s this place like?” you ask, resting elbows on the wood. The streets are foggy, as they usually are in the morning. The Hill isn’t the nicest place, not the cleanest either, but you look at it like it’s heaven incarnate. He can see his neighbour down at the local grocer, the old woman who hoards cats seeing her grandson off to school, and one of his guys hanging out on the street, keeping the space safe.
Under his orders. The Hill wasn’t the nicest place, but he liked to keep it as nice as possible.
...Peaceful, he wanted the people here to have their peace. He was obsessed with it, really.
“It sucks.”
You laugh again, music to his ears, “Not the best advertising.”
“I take it back, it’s the best place on earth,” he replies, barely paying attention to his words. He’s seeing how close he can get to you. How many inches he can claim. His face is almost in your neck by the time you lean back, and he curses under his breath.
“It doesn’t need to be,” you say, pushing away from the sill and turning to wander around his room. You take in everything about the space. From the general mess, to the Jane Austen books crammed into his bookshelf, to the mask he’s left half-hazard on his bedstand.
You watch it all, just as fascinated with the world outside as the one inside. He wants to believe that means he’s special to you. And if it doesn’t, that just means he needs to work a little harder.
Finally, you turn to him. You take in every facet of him, once again. Your all-knowing gaze finds his hair again. You seem especially fascinated by that. You lift your hands, and he’s in them before he realises he’s moved.
You map his features with your hands, and he makes a little sound in the back of his throat. Ignoring that, you wipe the bags under his eyes. He feels his sanity slip away under your touch. You trace the scar on his chin, the one above his left brow. The stubble along his jaw. The bump in his nose. The edge of his lips. He wonders at the smirk you give when he groans. And finally, you come to that strand of hair.
You tug on it. A memory fizzles again, and to his frustration, he can’t quite grab it. Can’t quite take it, claim it. It’s not his, not yet.
You haven’t given him permission to remember. He wants it, he wants it, he needs it.
“I think I can stay, maybe. Just for a little, just a little. You want that, right?” your hands cup his face, and he knows, somehow, that you’ve done this a thousand times. And if this is the thousand-and-first time you’ve held him like this, he’s glad. To be back in your embrace is the sweetest pleasure. The greatest relief.
“Yes. Yes, yes… yes, I do,” he’s nodding, he’s begging, he’s pleading with you. Just for a moment more, just a second more. Just a little bit more, before you let him go again. He leans down and presses his forehead to you, sighing in your scent, the wheat reeds in the wind, the warm sun on skin.
He wonders what he has to do to make sure you never let go again. He wonders if you’ll let him do it.
You shake your head, giving him a rueful smile, “You really are too cute, darling.”
That nickname. The key to his heart, his mind. Every single barrier keeping him from you is gone, crumbled by your will. He is thankful you’ve given them back. He is thankful for every moment you ever had with him. And he’ll make a thousand more.
He presses his lips to yours, arms holding you close. When you melt into him, sigh into the kiss, he feels a euphoria he didn’t know could be true. He feels a relief he didn’t know even in his days under, even when you only held him.
He feels alive with it.
“Thank you for coming back,” he whispers against you, and he can feel that familiar, that damning smile spread.
“You left me. I had to hunt you down myself, Jason dear.”
Maybe he couldn’t have his peaceful death. But he had a loving one, and that was all he needed.

I got my space but what I’d pay, for you
The red numbers on the clock read 04:37. You weren’t sure what sleep you had managed to get, if any. Steve’s soft snores next to you now are too much of a distraction.
You were in his bed, in his bedroom, but you didn’t feel present. It felt like groundhog day, same old shit different day. You and Steve would hook up after a party or a random phone call at 1AM, you’d sleep over, go back to acting like you hated each other and do it all over again a couple days later.
You went from spending every waking minute together to only seeing each other in mutual friend spaces, to only being close in secret. And man, what you wouldn’t give to go right back to the start.
It all felt too much. Too much being here, next to him, when you didn’t belong here. Not really. You had to get out.
You gently rose from the bed, fearful of waking Steve, tiptoeing your way out of his room and downstairs to the kitchen. You sighed before pouring yourself a glass of water. You contemplated if you could get back to your place in just your panties and one of Steve’s old t-shirts without raising any suspicion.
I need you closer or I need it over
“Couldn’t sleep?” A low raspy voice asked from behind you.
It would have startled you if you didn’t go through this exact routine every other week.
“Something like that.” You shrugged, taking a sip of the cool water.
You felt his eyes on you, raking up and down your body. You couldn’t bear to return the favour, his big brown eyes eager to draw you in. The chest hair decorating his pecs, the boxers hanging low on his hips all too dangerous.
“You wanna head back to bed?” Steve asked, tone calm and quiet, “It’s way too early.” He stretched his arm around your back. A simple gesture yet one you couldn’t stand.
“I’m just gonna go home, Steve.” You shrugged his arm off you, spinning on your heel to start up the stairs again.
“What? Are you crazy?!” Steve started, quick to follow you, “It’s like five in the morning, you’re not going anywhere. Just come back to bed.”
You sighed, shoulders slumping in defeat, “I don’t think I can do this anymore, Steve.”
The boy had the nerve to roll his eyes, scoffing at your statement under his breath. “Come on, this again?” He was flailing his hands about now, “This was supposed to be fun, remember? No strings attached, no feelings.”
You laughed in disbelief, “You said no feelings, Steve. You said no strings attached. You barely gave me five minutes to process our breakup which you never gave me a real reason for, by the way.”
The tears began to well in your eyes, purely out of anger and frustration. You felt awful inside, full of regret and nausea. Except you didn’t really regret entering this agreement with Steve, not in the beginning at least, longing to get those intimate moments with him whenever you could.
“But my feelings are still very much here, Steve. And it’s just, fuck–, it’s just too much. So, I’m ending it.”
‘Cause you’re the holiday I celebrate too late, you’re the eyes that I gave up trying to captivate
Steve stood there in the middle of his kitchen dumbfounded. Lips moving but no words were coming out. He couldn’t think of anything to say, nothing that would make you crawl back into bed with him at least. Instead, he let you get angrier, get more upset, he let you keep talking.
“You’re so selfish, Steve. We always hookup when you want to, on your terms. You’re saying you never once considered how I felt?”
“What do you want me to say? That I’m sorry, huh?” Steve asked, his tone a little harsh and condescending. He was tugging at his hair now, frustration evident in the tinge of red on the top of his ears.
“I want to know why.” You said, wet eyes blinking up at the boy, your lips downturned into a frown.
“Why, what?” Steve shot back with.
“I want to know why you broke up with me, Steve.” You sighed, shoulders slumped, “I deserve that much from you.”
He sighed, the angry, frustrated look on his face became one of sadness and despair. Tongue poking the side of his cheek, his eyes not able to meet your own. Instead his gaze was focused on his feet, a guilty feeling churning in his stomach.
“Cause I didn’t deserve you, okay?” He began, voice shaky, “So I sabotaged us, broke my own heart before you could, you know? Before you found someone better.”
You thought he was ridiculous, that the reason was some sort of cop out. The typical ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ schtick. But you knew Steve, and you knew when he was being serious or telling the truth and unfortunately, this was one of those times.
He grabbed your arm, wrapped his fingers around your wrist as you rolled your eyes, urging you to stay and listen. “I know it sounds crazy and really stupid but it was easier that way. It was too late before I realised I made a massive mistake.”
‘Cause I love you, or I want to, but I don’t know how
The kitchen was silent, save for the dripping tap in the kitchen sink, the ticking clock on the wall. The silence wasn’t awkward, nor was it comfortable. You were appreciative of his honesty, but it didn’t make it sting any less. Knowing that Steve threw your relationship down the toilet because of his self esteem was upsetting, especially when you thought Steve was nothing but the perfect boyfriend.
“Steve–,” your features softened, your pent up frustration faltering.
“No, let me finish, please?” Steve asked, eyes pleading, “It’s the least I owe you.”
You nodded reluctantly, stood barefoot in the middle of the kitchen at five-thirty AM. He started with a sigh, fingers running through his messy bed hair.
“I was stupid,” he started, taking your hands in his much larger ones now, “you know, I overthought everything. I acted crazy, because you– you were perfect and I loved you but I just didn’t know how to.”
His speech was heartfelt and sincere, a real tug at your heartstrings. In your time apart your feelings for Steve never once faltered, you still loved him, adored him. You felt bitterness towards him because he seemed fine, no heartbreak, no tears. What you didn’t know was that Steve’s head was still filled with thoughts of you, thoughts and dreams that kept him awake at night with a chest full of regret.
“Loved?” you breathed, doe eyes blinking up at the boy. You knew you had no right, but it hurt thinking that Steve had ever stopped loving you. Made your heart sink to the pit of your stomach, your brain was telling you to leave, to not stick around long enough to hear the end of the tragic song but your legs simply wouldn’t move.
Steve tried his luck, long fingers reaching up to stroke at your soft cheek. Your eyes fluttered closed at his touch, missing the soft intimacy you craved so much from your ex-boyfriend.
“Love.” He whispered matter of factly, a soft smile creeping on his lips. “I love you. Never stopped.”
There was something in the way he looked at you, a glint of hope, a glimmer of longing. You tried to ignore the butterflies fluttering throughout your stomach, tried to ignore Steve’s soft lips and the sprinkling of freckles and moles across his skin.
“Why wouldn’t you say something, Steve?” You spoke softly this time, a total 180 of your prior tone. So badly you wanted to wrap your arms around him, to pull him in closer but your head was fuzzy, unsure where you stood.
“Are you kidding me?” He scoffed jokingly, “I thought you’d never want to speak to me again, let alone have a serious conversation where I begged you to take me back ‘cause I’m a giant idiot.”
“You’re right,” you chuckled, “you are a giant idiot, Harrington.”
“You can say that again.” Steve sighed, both hands reaching up to cup your cheeks now, thumbs stroking over your skin, “I know you probably have loads of questions which I will definitely answer, but right now all I can think about is kissing you.”
“Are you asking if you can kiss me?” You asked, a subtle teasing lacing your tone. Voice playful and hopeful. Steve was right, you did have questions and you had no idea where you stood but all that could wait. All you wanted was his lips on yours.
“Can I?” Steve whispered, voice all saccharine sweet, low and sultry. Lips inching in closer to yours.
You let your actions speak for you, hands climbing up his chest, dainty fingers finding their way to Steve’s neck. You saw a glimpse of his smirk before your lips were brushing against his own.
You let yourself melt into the kiss, Steve’s soft lips sucking you right in. The kiss felt different than usual, rather than hot and messy, rushed and horny, it was sweet, passionate. Slow and soft. It felt like Steve, your Steve.
It felt like a lifetime that you were stood in Steve’s kitchen, lips melding together perfectly. His large hands began to wander your body, fists bunching his old t-shirt that swamped your body. You pulled away from one another, foreheads resting against one another, the tip of Steve’s nose brushing along the slope of yours, chests heaving as you both took a breath.
The pair of you both sported wide grins as Steve mumbled out, “That was nice.”
“Yeah, it was.” You replied, voice all sing-songy, teeth gnawing on your bottom lip playfully, “I’d like to do it again sometime.”
“Yeah?” Steve chirped, thumb swiping over your bottom lip, “How ‘bout right now?”
You squealed when he wrapped his arms around your waist, hoisting you up so you could wrap your legs around him, heels crossed at his tailbone. His lips were back on yours in an instant as he carried you through to the lounge, falling back onto the couch with you in tow.
Steve’s hands wandered down your back as you were perched in his lap, your fingers curling through the strands of soft brown hair atop his head. Steve hummed at the feeling, the vibrations rumbling in his chest as he kissed you a little harder, a little deeper. You were no stranger to makeout sessions with Steve, even post breakup, but this felt right. This felt normal, like you knew you wouldn’t ever have to skip out at seven AM again before anyone saw you.
The boy pulled away from you, lips pressing short, quick kisses to the column of your throat, mumbling between pecks, “You’re perfect, my beautiful girl.” Steve cooed.
You whimpered at both the feeling of his lips on your neck and the words that left his mouth. You couldn’t help but let it hit you right in your lower stomach, pressure building with every kiss of Steve’s lips, every squeeze of your ass with his large hands.
“Your girl?” You asked innocently, eyelashes fluttering as you felt the heat rise up your body, goose pimples simultaneously covering your skin.
“That’s right, honey,” Steve breathed, “my girl.”
Your hips began to move absentmindedly. The feeling of Steve’s lips on your skin, his hands all over your body, his words an aphrodisiac and the more he kept talking, the more needy, desperate you became.
“And what does my sweet girl want, hm?” Steve asked softly, one of his hands skimming underneath your t-shirt, his fingers brushing over your tits, thumb circling over one of your nipples.
“Fuck,” you whined, arching your back and pressing your chest further into Steve’s touch, “you, Steve. I want you. Please?”
He chuckled at how fragile you sounded, your whines and whimpers only serving as music to his ears. “I’m all yours, baby.” The boy responded, hand sneaking lower, fingers circling over your clit over the material of your panties.
You let out a strangled moan at the almost-there contact, feeling the arousal poole at your core. You bucked your hips into Steve’s hand, hands bracings themselves on his shoulders as you began to grind your heat over his meaty thigh, his fingers rubbing at your clit with every movement.
“Oh, that’s it, baby,” he cooed, “there you go. That feel good, huh?”
Steve’s voice was syrupy sweet as he whispered in your ear, urging you to chase your high, to make yourself feel good at his expense. You could only respond to his question with a high pitched whine, a sound that had Steve all giddy, grinning from ear to ear.
“God, look at you, sweetheart,” Steve mused, cheeks flushed and eyes hazy with lust, “making a mess of yourself all over my thigh. Fuck.”
Your hips began to move faster, desperately trying to get yourself to your climax along with Steve’s fingers on your throbbing clit. You whimpered the boy’s name into the early morning sunrise, eyes heavy and heart longing for him.
Steve coaxed you to your first orgasm with his skilful fingers, soft words of praise and encouragement whispered under his breath. You came undone with a shrill cry, a sweet groan of curse words and pretty noises tumbled from your lips as you shook against Steve’s thigh.
He hushed you with his lips, kisses swallowing up your moans and whines. He hummed against your lips as your orgasm washed over you, your fingernails digging into his shoulders as you let the tension leave your body.
The boy had a subtle smirk on his face when you pulled away, cheeks flushed and his bottom lip settled firmly between his teeth. You giggled as you tried to hide your face away in the crook of his neck, the smell of sleep still evident on his skin.
“Ah, ah,” he teased, “let me see you.” He spoke quietly, pulling you back gently as he cupped your cheek with one hand. “Beautiful,” he cooed with a gentle kiss to your lips.
You felt the heat creep up your cheeks at his admission, the feeling of Steve’s hands on you and his hard cock pressing into your core through the cotton of his boxers ever present in the front of your mind. You felt him tense as you moved over the bulge gently, the sound music to your ears.
“Fuck,” he breathed. Steve’s eyes fluttered closed, his large hands moving to your thighs, his fingers digging into the doughy flesh. It only spurred you on, the noises leaving his pretty lips, the way his head was rolled back against the back of the couch.
“Baby,” he whined, “fuck. I gotta feel you. Please?” Steve’s eyes were wide and glassy, pupils dilated and dark. His cock was aching and begging to be touched, desperate to be swallowed by your pillowy walls.
You nodded with intent, standing up to rid yourself of your shorts and underwear as Steve did with his boxers. You watched with a slack jaw as Steve’s cock sprang to attention, hard and thick against the thick trail of hair that decorated his lower stomach.
Breath hitching in your throat, Steve lathered up his cock with his own saliva, fingers wrapping around his length as he ushered you back onto his lap. You held onto Steve’s shoulders as you lowered yourself onto his cock, both of you groaning at the stretch.
You sunk down inch by inch until Steve was buried in your pussy to the hilt. The stretch was a sweet pain, sinful and worth every wince. The boy cursed as you began to move, gentle and slow as you gave him a nod, a hint to pull you along his length. Steve could only abide as he moved his hands to your ass, palms squeezing the flesh as he pulled you back and forth in his lap.
“Jesus,” he groaned, throaty and raspy, eyes trained on your face, how your features were twisted in pleasure, “you feel so fucking good.”
You could only whine in response, mind too busy to focus on anything else except for how the tip of Steve’s cock was brushing that sweet spot deep inside you. You began to move your hips faster, fingernails leaving pretty marks in his freckled skin, your wetness dripping down Steve’s cock, a sticky mess trickling down his heavy balls.
Steve was losing his mind, the sound of skin slapping against skin, your ass coming down against his thighs as you rode him, the poor boy was in a tiz. He didn’t know where he wanted his hands most; your hips or your waist, your ass or your tits, on your face or in your hair. The decision was impossible.
Closer. Steve needed you closer. Sure, your bodies were entwined, his cock buried inside you, your hands all over each other. But it wasn’t enough. He shifted you both forward on the couch, his arms wrapped around the small of your back, your legs instinctively wrapping around his own.
You were sat chest to chest in his lap, his hand shoving your, his, t-shirt up your chest, your nipples free to brush up against the coarse hair of his chest. You both moaned out loud at the close contact, his hands on your back urging you to grind on his length.
“Fucking hell,” Steve moaned, plump lips engulfing one of your nipples, tongue licking over the bud, “you’re amazing. Can’t believe I let this pussy go.”
Word vomit of praise and lustful ramblings was Steve’s tell tale sign that he was close to his own climax, his orgasm right around the corner. Your fingers were stuck in the boy’s hair, your lips flying to his, kissing him like your life depended on it.
“Steve,” you moaned between kisses, noses knocking against one another. Your hips seemed to pick up the pace with every roll, your clit throbbing and aching.
“What’s wrong, baby?” He asked, forehead resting against yours, his big brown eyes wide and enticing. His lips brushed against your own with every word he spoke, “You making yourself feel good on my cock?”
“Yes,” you cried, eyes squeezed closed as you felt the coil in your lower stomach tighten, “please, I’m gonna cum, Stevie, shit—.”
“Yeah? Fuck,” Steve groaned, hand snaking between your clammy bodies so he could rub at your delicate clit. “gonna cum f’me, pretty? Make a mess all over my cock, yeah? That’s a good girl.”
“Oh, Steve,” you moaned loudly, eyes fluttering closed as you felt the beginnings of your orgasm rock your body. Your hips rocked faster, harder, desperately chasing your climax.
“That’s my girl,” he cooed, “gonna let me cum inside you? Fill up this pretty little pussy like she deserves.”
“Yesyesyes,” you chanted as the coil snapped, warmth spreading throughout your body as you came undone. Steve wasn’t far behind you, two more rolls of your hips and he was painting your insides with his seed.
He cried out your name like a song, face buried in your neck as his fingers dug in the skin of your waist. His toes curled in the plush carpet as he whined and whimpered into your soft flesh.
The orange-y pink glow of the sunrise over the horizon basked you both in a golden gleam. The rays covered Steve in a pretty radiance, one you hadn’t seen in a while. A weight off his shoulders, perhaps, or an old flame in his lap.
Neither of you spoke for a while, too busy taking in the comfortable silence. You hadn’t moved a muscle, cept to rest your head on the boy’s chest, his fingers drawing delicate patterns on your bare skin.
You didn’t know what this meant for you, both of you were pretty clueless where this left you, where Steve’s confession would take your relationship. But you didn’t care. Not one bit.
You only had tomorrow to look forward to now.

How would the Lords be as parents? We know how Alcina is, but how about the others?
You don't have to answer if it makes you uncomfortable.
I don't mind! In fact, this is my favorite kind of content XD Hope you enjoy!💖
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Four Lords as Parents Headcanons
Tumblr media
Alcina Dimitrescu
-We do already know how Alcina is as a parent, but let's recap a little just so she can be included. She can be very loving but is also very strict. However, she always has her children's best interests at heart.
-It's hard for her to show any loving affection with hugs and stuff like that. She's much better in showing her care with the life she's given them, safety and so forth. It's just hard for her to share her emotions.
-However, she's a very protective mother as we all know.
-She will kill anyone who dares harm her children or their livelihoods. They mean a lot to her, and this is how she really shows it. The more danger they are in, the more anger and stress Alcina gets, leading to her lashing out.
-Alcina isn't afraid to scold or punish. The way she sees it, she's the queen here, the one in charge. None of her children would dare talk back to her or speak badly against her. They have a simple yet solid relationship.
-Despite the level of dominance she holds, Alcina does have a sweet spot for her children. If they want to do something with her, she'll do it. She likes to spend downtime with them. Alcina isn't entirely cold, she does have a soft spot for her children.
Tumblr media
Donna Beneviento (and Angie)
-Donna would be a good mother, be it a little absent minded here and there. However, she has rules and those rules better be followed or else. Her first rule is definitely don't go into the basement, and then it would be to stay away from her gardens.
-All her strictness comes from paranoia that her children could get hurt or something. She didn't have a very safe childhood, so she overdoes safety now because she's worried. Even though, if the kids are left with Angie, it's a whole other story entirely.
-Despite her overwhelming sense of fear, she still holds a sense of sereness and acts very calm.
-She likes to teach new things to her children, like her art of doll making, gardening, or even tea. Even though she wants them to stay away from her dangerous flowers, each child would get a little spot in the garden where they could grow their own plants under her supervision.
-Donna likes to do a lot of play with her children when they are young. She thinks the imagination is important, so if they want to have a tea party, a tea party they shall get. And if they want to play with dolls that she made for them, she'll drop everything to join.
-She is the queen of comfort. When I mentioned she's a worrier for their safety, that includes while they sleep. Nightmares don't get to cause her children any pain. Donna will give hugs, lay with them until they fall asleep again, or do anything to bring comfort.

Salvatore Moreau
-One of the most caring yet most fearful fathers is Moreau. This man has no idea what to do and no instincts seem to come to him. He's kind of just following on principle of keep them alive and safe and cared for. In fact, sometimes he's too caring.
-His children can never go anywhere without him. Moreau starts to see everything as a hazard and goes to "baby proofing" whatever he can. He always tries to find something to distract them, like a movie or something, in order to get him to feel peace for a while.
-But Moreau is also very proud of his children, running around and talking the ears off anyone he finds.
-The other lords are getting sick of him coming around and gushing about what his kids have done that day. To be honest, they didn't really care. Moreau might know this, but he doesn't care. Just getting to say it makes him happy because he knows his kids know he's proud.
-While he's always scared that something will happen to them, he's also aware that they need to feel loved. Moreau overloads his children with loving words and means of affection. All the hugs in the world from him.
-Despite his soft nature, he's also extremely protective. He will go full on fish mode if anything dares try to harm his offspring. In fact, he might even be scarier than the other lords when it comes to that aspect.
Tumblr media
Karl Heisenberg
-Heisenberg is probably one of the most complex fathers in the world to describe because he is just one large mix of everything. He is fearful for both his children's safety and his own status as a parent. Yet, he also loves and cares for them like any parent should. He also has a sense of pride and determination to be a better parent than Miranda ever could.
-Yes, his temper is certainly a problem that he is trying to fix. Every time one of his kids does something wrong, even if it's an accident, he raises his voice. However, deep down, it comes from the fear he felt that they could've gotten hurt. His factory is not a safe place, so they need to listen to him.
-But despite his tough demeanor, his heart has grown three sizes with the addition of children to his life.
-Considering that his factory is a dangerous place to be, he tries to keep the kids occupied while he works. Most of what he does is throwing paper and coloring supplies on the ground and letting them have it. That means he shows up later that evening with them shoving drawing after drawing in his face. He acts annoyed, but he hangs them up all over his workspace.
-Heisenberg knows how dangerous the world is, so he is extremely protective. Not overly protective, but he seems to have a sixth sense for when his kids are in danger. At that point, he magically appears and deals with the problem.
-He's a rough man, but he isn't going to let his kids feel unloved. If they want a hug, they get a hug. If they need him to lay with them till they fall asleep, he's there. They aren't getting a shitty unloved childhood like he got.

It bothers the hell out of me when no one talks about what George stacy? (whatever his name is) (gwens dad) pulling out a gun and was (probably) going to harm his own kid?? why is no one talking about? why is that scene so overlooked?? it's so fucking overlooked, call me whatever, but my gut has been screaming to me about it, it's so weird how overlooked it is, And I know it's not just me, but I also feel kike I know why and it sucks, I feel bad for gwen, I don't think she'll ever look at him that way and it's not being talked about as much.
NO DEADASS REALLY FOR REAL DEADASS
Like the implications of that scene are insane - if we question what he would've done, like it gets sickening.
Because he let out a warning shot, he's going by procedure. So if Gwen hadn't complied, what would he have done? If she 'resisted arrest' is he really ready to use force - A GUN on his own daughter.
He KNOWS she Spider-Gwen now. He's see what she can do - Gwen could probably dodge a bullet if she knew she was being shot at. Knowing that, he was doing that to get her to submit in fear, that hopefully his place as a cop would scare her into WHAT?? Giving herself up.
Gwen CAN'T.
This is NYC mind you.
If you get arrested in NYC they send you Riker's Island while you wait for trail. Riker's Island being the jail that inspired ARKHAM ASYLUM.
It's considered one of the foulest facilities in the country. Gwen is what, 16-17? Wanted for murder - the cops HATE her, the courts could easily trial her as an adult.
Was he REALLY ready to throw his 16 year old daughter into the most dangerous neglective hellish place the city has to offer? Was he ready to shoot her or worse?
WHAT WAS HE GONNA DO??? CAUSE WHATEVER IT WAS...HE SEEMED COMMITED TO DOING IT.
SIR WHAT WERE YOU GOING TO INFLICT UPON YOU INNOCENT CHILD - HOBIE GET THE GUITAR
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No wonder she was gonna leave without talking to him. If Hobie hadn't come over, she would've rather been homeless on the streets rather than try and face her dad again - knowing it can end up MUCH worse.
Not knowing if he's looking for her to apologize or throw her in a cruiser he makes me SICKKKK BRUHH ITs NOT EVEN FUNNY AT THIS POINT
As soon as he started talking she had an attitude because she's still pissed about there. There's so much sadness there but anger too, cause like
How you deadass pull a gun on your only family??????????????
How you deadass about to send your daughter to a detention center or a jail OR MORE LIKELY COMPLETE SOLITARY. Consider her powers.
Like..... These movies want me to pat him and Peter B. on the back for a job well done when they BOTH let Gwen down. And Gwen has to come TO THEM to fix it (which I understand for her dad but Peter r u deadass)
Meanwhile Jefferson is doing TWENTY THOUSAND TIMES BETTER WTF
FUCK GEORGE STACY ALL MY HOBIES HATE GEORGE STACY JEFFERSON DAVIS IS A KIN
Tumblr media
DO YOU THINK HED EVER PULL A GUN ON MILES NO!!!!!

warnings: swearing
Tumblr media
My heart raced as Son and I stepped out into the blinding camera flashes. We had been keeping our relationship a secret for months, savoring the precious moments together away from the public eye. But now, the secret was out, and the paparazzi descended upon us like a swarm of vultures hungry for a story.
"Who is she?" one photographer shouted, thrusting his camera in my face. "How did you two even meet?"
I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment and anger. These questions were invasive, and they painted me as some kind of gold-digger, a girl trying to cash in on her relationship with a famous footballer. The reality was far from that.
Son, ever the gentleman, stepped closer to me, placing a reassuring hand on my back. "Hey, let's just keep walking," he said softly, his voice a calming presence amidst the chaos.
But the relentless questions continued. "Did you guys have sex to get his attention?" Another voice yelled from the crowd, causing my blood to boil. I clenched my fists, wanting to lash out, to defend our love, but Son squeezed my hand, urging me to stay calm.
We pushed through the sea of reporters, trying to make our way to the waiting car. The shouts and accusations followed us like a dark cloud. "Did you want fame? Is that why you're dating him?" a particularly nasty reporter asked, a sly grin on his face.
I couldn't take it anymore. I turned to face the relentless crowd, my voice trembling with anger. "No! None of this is about fame or money. We love each other, and that's all that matters!"
Son's grip on my hand tightened, and he shot me a loving, grateful look. But the paparazzi didn't let up. They continued their barrage of questions, trying to get a rise out of us.
Son's comforting presence beside me was the only thing keeping me from breaking down. He reached for my hand, his fingers interlocking with mine.
"Y/N, please don't let them get to you," Son whispered, his voice filled with concern. "They're just trying to provoke us."
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. "I know, Son, but it's so infuriating. I can't stand the way they make me out to be some kind of villain."
Son's expression grew stern as he squeezed my hand. "You're not a villain, Y/N. You're the love of my life, and I won't let anyone tarnish your reputation."
"Hey, Son! Is your girlfriend always such a bitch, or is that just for the cameras?"
I felt a surge of anger rise within me, but before I could respond, Son grabbed the car's radio and pressed the button. "You have no right to talk about her like that," he growled, his voice filled with a dangerous edge.
The paparazzi on the other end seemed to revel in the confrontation. "Oh, look at the tough guy! Defending his little girlfriend. What's the matter, Son? Can't handle a real woman?"
My heart pounded as I watched Son's knuckles whiten around the radio. I knew he was on the verge of losing his temper, and I feared what could happen next.
"Son, please," I urged, placing a calming hand on his shoulder. "Let's not give them the satisfaction."
He took a deep breath, his jaw clenched, and then released the radio button. The paparazzi's laughter rang through the car's speakers, but we remained resolute in our silence.
Minutes turned into hours as we finally escaped the clutches of the paparazzi. When the car pulled into the driveway of Son's secluded home, we both let out a collective sigh of relief.
Son turned to me, his eyes filled with regret. "I'm sorry, Y/N. I should have handled that better."
I shook my head, a small smile playing at my lips. "You were defending me, Son. I appreciate that more than you know."
He reached over and gently caressed my cheek, his touch warm and tender. "I love you, Y/N. I won't let anyone hurt you, no matter what."

Thank you for all your hard work...if only words could describe how much every single story has made me feel so much better🥹
May I leave a request in here
My closest friend went behind my back and betrayed me in the worst way possible and the only thing I have been thinking about was how to get her back, finding ways to make her regret it. (Do not worry it's just a payback, no blood bath in planning)
How do you think the bsd boys (nikolai, dazai, chuuya etc) would react to their s/o becoming so rough and hard after a situation like this? Would they help her or talk her into just letting it go? I mean it's not an easy thing the live with when someone backstabs you

Nikolai listened to his s/o as they explained the situation with their friend, who had betrayed them in the worst possible way. He could see the pain and anger in their eyes, and it made his blood boil. How dare someone hurt the person he loved most in this world?
One day, as they were discussing what to do about the situation, Nikolai suddenly broke out into a silly dance. "I know what we should do!" he exclaimed, twirling around. "We'll give her a taste of her own medicine!"
His s/o couldn't help but laugh at the sight of him dancing, but the thought of revenge still lingered in her mind. "But how?" she asked.
Nikolai's expression suddenly turned serious. "We'll give her a warning. Let her know that if she ever messes with you again, she'll have to deal with me."
His s/o was taken aback by the sudden shift in his demeanor. She had never seen him like this before. "Nikolai, you're scaring me," she admitted.
Nikolai's eyes softened as he walked over to her and took her hand. "I'm sorry, my dove. I just can't stand to see you hurt. I'll do whatever it takes to protect you."
His s/o couldn't help but feel touched by his words, despite the lingering fear. She knew that Nikolai would never let anyone hurt her and that he would go to great lengths to keep her safe.
In the end, they decided to go through with the plan. Nikolai left a warning for her friend, letting her know that he was watching her and that if she ever tried to hurt his s/o again, she would have to deal with him.
While the thought of revenge still left a bitter taste in his s/o's mouth, she couldn't help but feel grateful for Nikolai's unwavering protection and love.

As Fyodor's s/o approached him, he could see the rage and hurt in her eyes. "Fyodor," she started, "I don't know what to do. My friend betrayed me in the worst way possible. She went behind my back and did something unforgivable." Fyodor listened carefully, his expression never changing as she continued to tell him the details of the betrayal.
After a few moments of silence, Fyodor spoke, his voice low and dangerous. "Myshka," he said, using his pet name for her, "I understand how you feel. Betrayal is a terrible thing, and those who commit such an act deserve nothing but punishment. I will help you get revenge on this person, but you must understand that it will not be a gentle punishment. It will be harsh, and it will be final."
Fyodor's s/o nodded, her face set in determination. "I know," she said, "I don't care what it takes. I just want her to feel the same pain that she caused me." Fyodor nodded in agreement, "Then we shall start planning. But remember, Myshka, revenge is a dish best served cold. We must be patient, wait for the right moment to strike."
As they began to make plans, Fyodor's s/o noticed a glint in his eye, a look of sinister pleasure. "Fyodor," she asked hesitantly, "Are you enjoying this?" Fyodor's expression did not change, but his voice had a hint of amusement in it. "Of course, Myshka. Revenge is what we do. It's in our nature. And besides, it's always satisfying to see those who have wronged us suffer."
As the days went on and their plan began to take shape, Fyodor's s/o found herself becoming more and more ruthless. She was determined to make her former friend pay, no matter what the cost. Fyodor watched her with a mix of admiration and caution, knowing that her newfound ferocity could be dangerous if left unchecked.

Dazai would react to his s/o's situation with a mixture of concern and humor. He would likely make light of the situation and tease his s/o about their revenge plans, but deep down he would understand the pain and anger they were feeling.
One day, Dazai's s/o came to him looking more serious than usual. She explained to him what had happened with her friend and how betrayed she felt. She told him about her plans for revenge, and Dazai couldn't help but chuckle.
"Ah, my dear, revenge is never the answer," he said, grinning. "But if you're set on it, I'll be happy to help you come up with a plan."
His s/o looked at him with surprise, not expecting him to take her seriously. But Dazai knew how important this was to her and he wanted to support her in any way he could.
Together, they spent hours devising a plan that would make her friend regret what she had done. Dazai used his quick thinking and strategic mind to help his s/o come up with a plan that was both effective and safe.
But even as they plotted, Dazai made sure to remind his s/o that revenge wasn't everything. He knew that the pain of betrayal would stay with her for a long time, but he also knew that holding onto anger and hate wasn't healthy.
"Don't let this consume you, my dear," he said softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Let it go and move on. You deserve better than to be held back by the actions of others."
His s/o smiled at him, grateful for his support and understanding. Together, they executed their plan and watched as her friend got her comeuppance. But even as they celebrated their victory, Dazai made sure to remind his s/o that there was more to life than revenge.

Chuuya sat across from his s/o, watching as she scribbled furiously in a notebook. He could tell she was still reeling from the betrayal of her friend. He took a sip of his wine before speaking up.
"Thinking about how to get back at that bitch?" he asked bluntly.
His s/o looked up, surprised. "How did you know?"
Chuuya chuckled. "You're not exactly subtle."
His s/o sighed, setting down the notebook. "I just can't believe she would do that to me. We were supposed to be friends."
Chuuya raised an eyebrow. "So, what's your plan?"
His s/o leaned in, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I've got a few ideas. I was thinking of setting up a fake social media account and exposing all of her dirty secrets."
Chuuya smirked. "Sounds like a good time. Need any help?"
His s/o looked at him skeptically. "Are you sure? I don't want you to get involved in my drama."
Chuuya waved a hand dismissively. "Please. I'm always down for a good revenge scheme. And besides, I can't let that bitch hurt my girl."
His s/o smiled, grateful for his support. "Thanks, Chuuya. You're the best."
Chuuya smirked, pouring himself another glass of wine. "Damn right I am. Now let's get to planning. I want to see that bitch squirm."

Ranpo had been aware of the situation since the moment his s/o had confided in him. He had listened patiently as they recounted the betrayal of their so-called friend, and the subsequent desire for revenge that had consumed them.
As he watched his s/o brood and plot revenge, Ranpo couldn't help but feel a sense of amusement. He knew exactly how his s/o felt; after all, he had encountered his own share of betrayal and injustice in the past. However, his approach to handling such situations was vastly different.
"Are you really going to let this person have so much power over you?" Ranpo asked his s/o, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
"What do you mean?" his s/o replied, a hint of confusion in their voice.
"Well, by obsessing over revenge and making them regret what they did, you're essentially allowing them to control your emotions and actions. They've already hurt you once; don't give them the satisfaction of hurting you again by dwelling on it. Move on and focus on the positive things in your life," Ranpo said, his tone serious.
His s/o was taken aback by Ranpo's response. They had expected him to join in on their anger and offer to help with the revenge plot. Instead, he was suggesting that they let it go and move on.
"But Ranpo, don't you think they deserve to be punished for what they did?" his s/o asked, still feeling conflicted.
"Of course they do, but not by your hand. Leave it to karma or the law of cause and effect to deal with them. You have more important things to focus on," Ranpo said, his voice softening.
His s/o pondered Ranpo's words for a moment before nodding in agreement. Maybe revenge wasn't worth the energy and negative emotions it would bring. Maybe it was time to let go and move on.
As they hugged Ranpo in gratitude, he couldn't help but feel proud of his s/o's growth and maturity. Maybe, just maybe, he had taught them a valuable lesson in handling betrayal and injustice.

What would bring angst to nyx and his s/o's relationship?
Would there be any "bad pre conceived ideas" agasint nyxs s/o from others of his kind?
Also, weird question: Could his species breed with humans and have a viable offspring?? What would that child be like? Would it be more human with some rabbit traits or the opposite?
While I'm the main proponent of no NSFW prompts this is plain scientific curiosity and that I encourage
Talks of reproduction capabilities and results in the most scientific ramble below heads up
If Nyx's partner has a uterus (and if he wasn't either ace due to my preference or just did something out of curiosity) I'd say it's similar to two animals from sister species having offspring. A donkey and a horse can produce a mule but mules can't have offspring together. Due to unmatched chromosomes from the horse and donkey counterparts mostly, so they're infertile.
If a rabbit-hybrid and human had a kid, it would be low chance, and would take on more traits of the more dominant species, a human.
This could work many different ways, but mostly how you phrased it, a rabbit-hybrid that looks more human like than others.
As for your first remarks, absolutely.
Nyx is a prey species, his family is a prey species and they live in a community of burrows where other rabbit-hybrids live. Humans are by nature predators and as such are usually larger, stronger, and far more dangerous. Humans do eat rabbits, I have before when my folks hunted some down and added them to the family gathering menu
Nyx got off on the best foot with his human because they(you) saved his life, proving that humans can be just as helpful as they can harmful. For Nyx, it takes a long time of convincing his family to just meet you, and also to let him leave the burrow again because he promised to meet up with you and they were terrified for his life.
Cause to rabbit-hybrids or prey species hybrids, humans are hunters, carnivores at the top of their food chain by sheer force of will and intelligence, having grown to outrank their own predators. Humans are feared, respected from afar for the good that they can do, but mostly feared. In a way it's almost superstitious like when a human talks about fae
"never accept their food or else you'll be hooked" humans are just damn good cooks. "Never allow them to take you away, you'll return knowing little of your own world and remember unfathomable knowledge." If you let a stray cat come inside it's gonna get socialized to a person through effort. It's gonna forget how to survive on its own bc it's taken good care of by it's human and will learn how to 'converse' with humans and human ways. Am I making sense?
There's also generally separation between humans and most prey like species. Obviously some couple together but it's a more unpopular thing to see and can be a bit difficult.
There's also a power imbalance in the relationship that's always needing to be remembered. Nyx is small and weak compared to his human partner, he can easily be scared by them and while sometimes it's fun, his human has to remember to be calm with him. One big explosion of anger towards him and he'll fall back on instincts and flee and hide. Then it's an emotional mess for everyone because you scared your bunny boy and he wants to feel safe and only feels safest when you hold him but you're the one that scared him and he's lost at that moment.
Challenges but damn the sweet moments make it worth it

GENUINELY just heard someone on tiktok say "theyre trying to convince people the shooter was a trans woman" 😑 like no, they are essentially calling him a ""trans identified woman"". this is an issue that is so targeted at transmascs and people are just desperate to pull that away from us and devalue our fear.
Yeah I've also seen someone say "they are trying to convince people he's a trans woman" like no. they are not. They are misgendering a trans man very sloppily. Most articles mention he was AFAB. Transphobes are talking about him as a trans man because they read the articles and know he was AFAB.
Trans women getting targeted because people think he's a trans woman is a very real possibility and I am scared for them as well! If they are hurt by this it is no less real than potential harm to transmascs! But it really is like GOD can we just for a minute act like transmascs might just be the key targets here instead of constantly finding a way that transfems are going to be the REAL victims we should be talking about.
Especially since it feels like we've been trying to warn people about the demonization of T for a while now. In my experiences with transandrophobia tag there's multiple people who have spoken about being treated like they suddenly became hulking violent abusers the minute they started T (or even before), or being warned against T by fearmongering about mood swings and anger issues and how T makes you a dangerous person. We have been trying to talk about this for a while now and sure fucking enough! Transphobes immediately jumped on the IDEA Hale was on T and started blaming that (instead of a combination of America's godawful gun laws & culture + mental health issues likely undertreated because of America's godawful mental health system + someone with those issues growing up in a transphobic evangelical enviroment that actively despised his existence and abused him. but no its actually "gender ideology" that causes shootings. sure.)

CR3 EPISODE 78 SPOILERS
god. i love this fucking campaign. this one's gonna be long as shit.
despite how genuinely depressing this episode was, it also made me really giddy because i love hurt/comfort and there's no point of that if there's no hurt or angst.
im probably gonna go down the line with each member of bells hells, discussing what i can remember off the top of my head, i hope i don't forget anything in my rambles cause this was one of my FAVORITE episodes of the whole campaign and that's saying something.
i love ashton. i have loved ashton the most since the very beginning and for a lot of it i was really worried that ashton was deliberating running from opening up with bells hells while also going out of their way to have one-to-one convos with different members that were deep and insightful but never went as far as they needed to.
i am projecting a bit with analysis of ashton but taliesin does it best when rp'ing for ash and generally talking abt him in interviews. ashton reminds me of myself, which is not a compliment and is actually really terrible. ironically enough, ashton said the same thing abt fcg. i have spent a lot of time hurting myself by sabotaging the things i love, or embracing the worse parts of myself simply because it's become habit. there's always going to be a piece of you that finds the sadness, anger, guilt, emptiness, whatever -- comforting because it's all you've known.
ashton mourns a life that he never lived. i find myself mourning versions of myself that i would hate but still...yearn for them like an itch or an ache that comes from hurt. ashton wanted their family back, in whatever desperate, corrupted way he felt he should have done it, and hearing how he described feeling like he looked past the cautionary tale simply because he thought the pain they caused him should have meant something else made me think of imogen.
beautiful, sweet, powerful, dangerous, sad imogen temult. i won't comment on how everyone berated ashton because that's not really surprising nor was anything imogen said or did pertaining to ash shocking whatsoever. but... there's smth abt the destruction that ashton did to feel close to the idea of a family that doesn't really exist that just parallels so well with the fight that imogen has been undergoing since childhood. against the red storm, now against the call of ruidus, and the temptation and attachment she felt and still feels to her mother, despite everything liliana has done that jeopardizes everything imogen is fighting for.
abandoned by her mother, shunned by her own town, ignored and feared by her father.
going back to ashton again, there's smth to be said abt the guilt and shame that comes from making horrible choices that put yourself and the ppl you love in danger that forever changes the way they perceive you. I've done it. i had to fight to make things better. it can't be enough to love someone enough that would die for them, you have to fight to stay alive. if not even for yourself, for THEM.
i know it can be unhealthy to rely on others so much, but it's certainly not easy to fight for yourself when the foundation isn't there. learning how to love without throwing yourself on a blade is more important than self sufficiency. that comes afterwards.
i...don't like laudna's reliance on delilah briarwood this episode. i... there's smth very ironic about laudna being worried abt ashton's betrayal and the way he hurt her and the others with his deception and selfishness, coupled with my understanding of the absolute fucking insane, borderline stupid danger of even SPEAKING to delilah briarwood, let alone working WITH her.
i think it's hypocritical, but i don't feel any animosity towards laudna. just..sadness. delilah is a parasite. a disgusting, cruel, evil bitch who wants laudna to be... that weak little girl easily crushed under her thumb. she may preach abt laudna's latent power and potential, but laudna won't serve her purpose if she TRULY gains the strength to cast delilah aside forever. i don't think delilah was telling the truth abt their fates last episode, and that's why i so deeply want laudna to toss aside that defeatist mindset that has only gotten worse since episode one. maybe im wrong, maybe delilah was actually being genuine.
i kept watching imogens/laura's face during laudna's moments speaking with delilah alone, and it just made me sad because she didn't need to be alone. she had imogen, but she still felt the need to run and hide away. god i just want her to be happy.
i really liked the doll she made for ashton, even though delilah made it really creepy for no reason, the dramatic cunt she is. her assessment of ashton as being a child may seem rude or even a projection but to me it's the truth. ashton has not grown past his childhood. past abandonment and pain and mistrust and love that never lasts and always hurts. that shit followed them to adulthood and anyone who has any number of mental illnesses and childhood trauma will tell you that it's so easy to feel yourself stuck as a reactive, stubborn, bitter little kid trapped in a shitty cycle of pain. both ashton and laudna this episode felt like they were both broken, sad children interacting. laudna clinging to comfort from delilah, hiding away, mentally reverting to the person she was the last time she was in whitestone. ashton, clinging to his lost childhood and the acceptance of laudna's doll, the admittance that they'd never had a doll before. god... they're so sad, im gonna scream.
fcg apologizing for forcing faith down ashtons throat was sweet and so was ashton apologizing for being so bitter abt fcg's faith. now i just need fcg to apologize for the multiple instances where he put laudna in danger by casting turn undead with no acknowledgement of laudna afterwards.
fcg saying that ashton didn't love anyone or care about anyone hurt me a bit, because while i understood why they were saying those things, it was so... obviously untrue. before all of this, ashton has shown again and again and again how much he loves bells hells, and especially fcg. i know that ashton almost dying over smth so arrogant, desperate and foolish would make anyone question what someone's idea of "love" is, but still. it stung. maybe because i have been there. i know what it's like to be doubted and mistrusted because you ruined smth good callously and carelessly.
chetney... chetney really loves fearne. i don't care if y'all don't get it or if y'all still think chet is some joke character with no substance, I never understood that shit and i simply never will. chet and fearne probably have the best relationship in all of bells' hells -- and yes, that includes imogen and laudna because god knows those two have shit brewing under the surface that needs to be HANDLED, i.e: laudna being defeatist abt their relationship even tho it's barely begun.
chetney's a good man. him going after fearne was the best choice and im glad he gave her a couple laughs before she went off to wander. he cares about her so much, and he BELIEVES in her so much, and i love them. i LOVED the way he went in on ashton. hurting fearne by making a shitty decision and letting her bear the burden of watching ashton die right in front of her was... bad. it is very complicated but, that's pretty cut and dry.
i like him testing ashton again and again. telling him to leave but also being glad they chose to be brave and stay, and face the consequences of their actions. attacking ashton to see what all of any of that shit was even for. (im a little bummed that the shard didn't fully wake up yet but...i love the suspense im just impatient).
FEARNE. CALLOWAY. i love fearne, and i love the breakdown during the first part of the episode. it was such a raw moment and it established the tone of the episode so quickly. im glad that fearne knows that while ashton fucked up royally, her rejecting of the shard and complacence in ashton's plans was also royally stupid. i don't think her being terrified of taking the shard is bad or stupid, it's actually one of my favorite fearne character choices. no one ever actually asked her WHY she didn't want it, and when she said she didn't want it, it was still decided by the hells that the shard would go to fearne. (they're very shit at communication, poor babies). im happy that she specifically clarified that ashton did not threaten or manipulate her (plus he gave her many opportunities to not be involved with his bullshit if it made her uncomfy so im hoping the insane critters who keep treating ashton like some evil, predatory person finally stfu).
fearne being so scared of a version of herself that was sad, lonely, and "evil" to the point that she chose to believe that it was ashton's destiny to take in both shards is so... so rich. i hope she talks about that more in the next episode because i don't think she's EVER brought it up since exu. i don't think the shard would change fearne's personality but god the fact that SHE is so afraid of herself and what she's capable of.... AHHHH. love this damn party.
i hope liam knows that expect really painful roleplaying from him when he comes back cause i really do need ashton and orym interactions like i need air.
the choice to go to the fey realm was brilliant and i missed nana morri so it's a win for me. bells hells COULD have done what they've been doing for a while now, which is ignoring the pain they're all feeling and pushing forward, but ashton doing what they did was the straw that broke the camel's back and im GLAD because i have been begging them all to have real conversations with each other that don't get cut short prematurely for whatever reason.
i do hope that they do really lean into the self care aspect involving therapy and talking through their issues with ALL of the members present or even in groups, and it isn't just fun and games. they're prone to distraction. i love my little guys.
:( two weeks without bells hells. is it thursday, yet???
