The hand of the clock made its final dash, Kunikida heard a leisurely knock on the door. After waiting for the invitation, a girl entered the room. In the detective agency, as it often happens, trouble brought her - two months ago her mother died.

For other such things, Dazai would never have missed the girl's sly look. A troubled past has taught the detective to anticipate danger so well that it sometimes works against him. The new case seemed incredibly boring. He does not yet know that very soon his thoughts will be taken over by the anticipation of a new interesting game.

Kunikida Doppo was proud of the fact that he succeeded in creating the most accurate plan for the day that he had ever made. The young man arrived at work exactly on time; he didn’t waste a second of delay or a moment standing in front of the door waiting for the start of the working day. He sorted out the mail for a strictly allotted time, then he devoted exactly as much time to writing a report on the solved case as was allocated for this in the plan of his ideal day. Kunikida was glad that none of Osamu Dazai's tricks could disrupt his schedule. The potential client was supposed to arrive at exactly eleven o'clock. Of course, it would be crazy to expect everyone to be punctual down to the second. However, from time to time (much more often than he would like) people surprised him, and that became a serious test for Kunikida's schedule.

It might seem to someone that making a plan for the day is a simple task, but this would show just the frivolity of those who think so.

Kunikida, on the other hand, spent many years honing his planning skills. He must study the traffic schedule, the frequency of changing traffic lights all along the way, take into account weather impact and so on. But the most difficult thing is to anticipate all unexpected situations, like a colleague who deliberately arrived early to delay him with a conversation — and that’s far from a complete list of what should be done to create the perfect schedule. The thought that all this work could be vain just because of the visitor's lack of punctuality depressed Kunikida. He kept a close eye on the second hand, preparing for the worst — the client being late. 

However, as the hand of the clock made its final dash, Kunikida heard a leisurely knock on the door. Three rhythmic knocks. They were not too quiet to remain unheard, but also not too loud  to disturb people in the office. After waiting for the invitation, the young lady entered the room. The girl, who had not yet lived through the sweet years of youth, seemed to be trying to imitate a grown lady in grief. Her knees were safely hidden under by a fitted black dress with voluminous elbow-length sleeves, and her curly dark hair was neatly pulled back into a short hairstyle under a brimmed hat that framed her face like a painting. And only the red ribbon on the headdress diluted the mournful image. However, this imitation did not seem funny to Kunikida. On the contrary, it added seriousness to the young lady’s image.

Sitting down on the chair offered to her, the girl who introduced herself as Ishihara Nen began her story. As it often happens, trouble brought her to the detective agency. Her mother, Ishihara Shige, died two months ago, while the young lady was away. The deceased was found hanging by a neighbor who came in the morning to return the rake she had borrowed the day before.

“Why are you sure that it wasn’t suicide?” Kunikida clarified after listening to the details of the case. “After all, this is exactly what the police came to.”

“Kunikida-san, believe me, if you only knew my mother, you would never believe in such a version either!” her voice filled the room with music, but in this melody all the pain of humanity was concentrated, pricking everyone present right in the heart.

Of course, Kunikida knew that people often do not believe, that the death of a loved one was a suicide. They ignore cries for help, not finding time for it between going to the store and general cleaning. And then they cannot admit someone around them is suffering. The detective found a hundred rational arguments in favor of this version, but he did not dare to show them to the girl, who was perhaps experiencing the strongest loss in her life. He looked at the colleagues for support, but they silently refused.

“Well, if you prove that it really was suicide, I at least want to know why she did that,” the guest looked at the detective with hope, and he, in turn, was grateful to her for the opportunity not to convince the young lady. 

The very thought of rejecting a person who had experienced such a tragedy caused Kunikida to feel guilty. The girl continued to talk about her mother, and the detective tried to fight that sticky feeling, but it wouldn't go away. Eventually, Kunikida made a decision to take up this case. The young lady warmly thanked him for the assistance and the time spent, after which she left.

Time. Almost for the first time in his life, Kunikida forgot about his schedule. Displeased with such indiscretion, he hastened to sit down to work, but the day was hopelessly ruined. When planning things, Kunikida always took into account how long he could stay focused. The detective couldn't believe that while making the most accurate plan for the day he had ever made, he had miscalculated the time for breaks. However, Kunikida could not find another explanation for the sudden drop in productivity. Closing the door behind her, Ishihara locked the entire Armed Detective Agency with a suffocating longing.

What to expect from spring 2024?

Let's talk about anime. Last spring was an intense one for anime fans, but what can we expect this year?

TV shows

First, we will discuss the new titles, and then we will briefly mention the new seasons of the old ones.

Kaiju No.8

Action, adventure, Sci-Fi

The new title of Production I.G studio ("Haikyuu!!", "Moriarty the Patriot", "Vinland Saga" and a bunch of other great titles)

Giant monsters are attacking Japan (where else could this happen). The defense forces kill these kaiju, but the main character, Kafka Hibino, is not one of them. He has another job, he is a cleaner, he cleans up kaiju corpses after battles. However, very soon he gets a chance to realize his childhood dream and join the defense forces, but unexpectedly begins to turn into a kaiju.

I expect at least an average title from this studio, so I will wait.

Gods' Game We Play (Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru.)

Comedy, Drama, Ecchi, Fantasy, Romance

The anime studio LIDENFILMS (Tokyo Revengers, Insomnia After School, Call of the Night) is an adaptation of a light novel.

The gods had too much free time and instead of finding a job, they created an intellectual game to test mortals. They did not think about the name for a long time - "Game of Gods". An ex-goddess is looking for a true gaming pro to challenge the supreme Gods.

Go, go, Loser Ranger! (Sentai Daishikaku)

I'm really looking forward to the release, because it's an anime based on the manga by Inio Asano (the author of "Goodnight PunPun"), although I don't know how they'll fit everything into movie, so I'm a little afraid of being disappointed.

The alien threat loomed over Japan (they could get used to it). The characters are high school girls who live life in the conditions of the end of the world. They grow up and begin to understand that real demons do not come from other planets.

I highly recommend it to everyone who liked PunPun.

Kurayukaba and Kuramerukagari

Kurayukaba and spin-off Kuramerukagari are original feature-length anime films.

Kurayukaba is a mystery film - with a romantic atmosphere of the Taisho era and powerful gadgets - about a detective Sutarou who solves a mass disappearance and steps into the underground world known as Kuragali.

But one phrase from The Hobbit struck me the most. Usually in movies and books, good triumphs over evil, and the heroes immediately celebrate the victory among the ruins, but not in The Hobbit.

I really like how Elrond raised many generations of Isildur's descendants.

Imagine little Aragorn II being brought to him. And Elrond just, "Well, another Dunedain. Good, I will raise him as a son. Not for the first time." And Elrond's sons are like, "Wow, new toy".

I am convinced that Elrond sent Aragorn II to claim the throne of Gondor just because he was tired of raising these Aragorns, kings of Gondor in exile.
