He walked into the dark cobbled street with a well-thought-out plan. Lit with a kerosene lamp, everywhere he looked, shadows danced upon the damp walls.
He plans to leave as soon as he finds the clue, the secret location of an ancient artifact, that could change the course of some events, about to follow. It was said, that here, in this alley, a gentleman resides, of no good nature, but great knowledge. Who could give him some direction, where to find the artifact.
The alley became even darker, as he walked further. And then he saw it. The sign to the entrance. Under the ivy plants, there it was. A symbol of malice. All he has to do is find a way to open it. Somehow.

Little white flowers bloom,
they are like snowflakes on the ground.
When the green grass becomes white,
fairies make their first sound.
Awake from their winter sleep,
the forest now will be crowned.

The forest has awakened to the sound of our footsteps. Slowly we moved through the frosted branches and mossy path. Above us, the fog persisted, even though the sun had already risen.
In the fog, we heard whispers. They were talking in a foreign language about the path we were aiming to take. It leads to uncertainty, that we knew. But we had to take it. It was our only chance, to meet at the old Godstone. For death and life will cross its path, amidst the tall risen ancient trees.

Ice and cold, for the winter soul. Those who are from the north, understand it. The pain comes, starting slowly. First the fingers, then the face. Exposed and bare. Then what is underneath? The body trembles and the mind goes numb. A stillness start. A silence.
And once the silence ends, something new begins. The body is calm, it gets used to the cold. It adapts. It grows stronger. So fellow stranger. Do not fear the cold. Embrace it and with it the peace that it brings.

I have started reading A Game of Thrones for the first time recently. I watched the show when it aired and was enamored by the vast world-building. But oh my, the books. The books are something else. You know, when you have an 800-page book, it looks daunting. Not here. I can't wait to start reading it, every day, in the night.
My favorite characters for now are Tyrion, Arya, and Jon. All are very strong in their opinion and stance. I have been writing down some quotes, delivered by them, as they hold immense knowledge.
“A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge.” Tyrion Lannister
“Fear cuts deeper than swords.” Arya Stark
“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.” Ned Stark
These are just some of them.
While it is beautifully written, it is also hard to read. The characters are so believable, you fear for them. You know that honor will bring them no good, as the world they have entered is cruel and cunning. Not a place for morality. You can read the downfall of any mistakes that have been made. Especially by the Starks.
I highly suggest you give it a go. It is even better than the starting seasons of the show. There are so much more details. Oh, and Asshai. It has my heart. The most mysterious place in Westeros and Essos. I hope one day we will get more information about it.

20 books in 2024
Another year, another year of a TBR pile. I'm really satisfied with my reading in the year 2023. I read some books I wanted to read for a long time. But still, I left some for the year 2024. So I'm transferring the remaining ones into this year, and adding a few more. I'm happy about the upcoming year, as I want to read a lot of fantasy.
The library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges
Babel by Rebecca F. Kuang
Legends & Lattes by Baldree Travis
Fabric: The Hidden History of the Material World by Victoria Finlay
The Island of missing trees by Elif Shafak
Ways of being by James Bridle
The Gathering Dark: An Anthology of Folk Horror by various authors
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet
The return of the king by Tolkien
A game of thrones by Martin
Shakespearean: On Life & Language in Times of Disruption by Robert McCrum
A court of thorns and roses by Sarah J. Mass
Femina by Ramírez Janina
Anything by Ava Reid
The road by Cormac McCarthy
Red rising by Pierce Brown
Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer

Some things to prepare for the new year
Clean out your overfilled drawers full of documents
Make a manifestation journal and write in it some simple starting wishes
Recycle all your paper
Start your new journal with a book TBR page
Donate clothes that you don't use to charity
And most important, rest and make yourself some good Christmasy drinks

At night, when everything becomes silent
I can hear a distant ringing, some kind of guidance.
It is calling me into the forest,
into darkness and through mossy land.
Where the nocturnal have their dance of sleep,
and the magical awakens from its deep, deep dream.

Autumn at Castle Rock in Begunje, Upper Carniola Slovenia.
To the north of Begunje, in the valley of Draga, there are the ruins of the once mighty castle Kamen. In written sources, the castle was first mentioned in 1263. It was one of the most important Ortenburg castles in Gorenjska. He stood in a strategic position, along the traffic link of the Land with Carinthia (Ljubelj).
While visiting you can take a hike on the Lamberg's path. A path full of mystery that takes you around the castle. On the path, you will see many attractions such as the Devil's Manor House, the Zijalka Cave, and the Hostages House.

Samhain
On a dark autumn day, it will begin.
Bonfires and bones, to protect the land from sin.
The Druids awaited, the veil would get thin.
Evil can only watch, with its claws and grin.
As the ashes off the bones, will protect our kin.
