Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? Mine went by so fast! But here we are at the precipice of a new week. Full of new adventures, new experiences, and new ideas. Let’s make it ours. We’ve talked so much about letting go and moving on. Because with all of our successes, we still look back on the people and the things that we may have left behind. Sometimes, I think we feel like we don’t deserve those very successes that we worked so hard for. Sacrificed everything for. Bled for. Because we miss those who were there along the way. Today's #matriarchymarch post is all about Murasaki Shinkibu, famous Heian era poet, novelist, and Imperial lady-in-waiting. She is best known as the author of The Tale of Genji, and her writings are considered an important reflection on Heian court society. Many if her works gave been interpreted through ukiyo-e woodblock illustrations. Murasaki most likely descended from the Fujiwara clan, an old lineage well respected for it's literary illuminaries despite having fallen from prominence to the lowest levels of noble houses. She showed an aptitude for Chinese writing, which was not taught to women at the time. It’s one that I love very much, and with the terrible things that have gone on in this past few weeks, I think it’s apropos. I hold it very close to my heart.
