My mother's eyes look like butterfly wings when she dreams, which she does only at nights when she is fast asleep. And I sometimes have this weird itch to paint them orange and black like monarch butterflies. I wonder how Argus might have looked like when Hermes sang lullabies to him. A swarm of butterflies fluttering all along his body. Back to her eyes, She remembers none of her dreams and the few hazy recollections from her youth, are now reminiscences within the wrinkles under her eyes. Butterflies never stop fluttering Neither does her eyes, Nor does our eyes. They just change shifts from working outside itself, at days to within itself, at nights. She prepares the manure out of the kitchen waste containing remnants of her passion and sometimes the bane of the voices swelling against her insides. She waters her plants and looks at them as if her long forgotten dreams will sprout any minute from the soil, and she dwells in a dream that maybe someday they will fly high, around the heap of corpses of dreams belonging to millions of women like her. But they don't have wings, they will fly, only when there is a blizzard. I tucked myself in the carpet hemmed with lace of darkness,

Fulfilled by the lullabies sang by my next-door Mockingbird, I fell asleep.

But the pounding thunders woke me in the middle of the night,

My curls covered my eyes to save me from spotting the wild colours in the sky.

I stuffed my mouth with a cotton rag to avoid screeching,

The clouds aimed at me with heavy ammunition,

I wasn’t in the mood to admit defeat,

And I cried out for that Mockingbird to REVIVE me💜

. . A blank white space. A huge lettered board. Loneliness. It can't be. I am not lonely. I have a lot of friends. "Do you?" A shimmering form "Do you have any friends?" I screamed. I do. I really do. I showed him my Facebook. My Instagram and my Twitter. Likes, comments, replies and follows. My chat histories. The form looked a lot like me now. "Wish they were real." I stammered. Books have been my friends and reading has been my favourite thing to do since 2015. It has been my escape from so many unwanted hellos, conversations, and thoughts. It doesn't matter what genre you read, as long as you're reading something, you're learning things; be it new words only. Sometimes some books or few of their quotes make you fall in love with them and let you keep hold of them for eternity. They relate to you in a way that comforts you and makes you feel understood. Reading habits are so rare here in Pakistan, maybe it is because of typical educational system which burdens students so much that they don't find time to spend on reading, or maybe because parents now a days are less concerned about telling their children importance of reading books. Somehow all of this is the fault of society and system. People often ask me that why do I read contemporary fiction and romance novels more than other genres and I am unable to explain it to them 'WHY'. Let me clear one thing to all of you out there, love stories are not solely based on hugs, kisses, sex, and fairytale love with happy/sad endings. They actually have stories that sometimes relates yours, some characters that are exactly how you are, some incidents that you can relate and THEY TEACH YOU A LOT. They change your whole perspectives sometimes. They let you look towards your situations from a new point of view. Polarity. (PROSE IN CAPTION🔽) . . There was something truly, madly, deeply inherent, innate about her. The things she did. They were full of magic, surprising to those that look at her with genuine bewilderment. Like Midas gold, everything she touched, became art. Everything she spoke, became sermons to behold by ears that listen. Everything she saw, a true masterpiece never seen by what people would see through a greying vision, sometimes painted in faded colors. Everything she ever felt, was either too much, by her heart, taking in all of the world and concealing it within her senses.
