Basic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Heyo peeps!! Been a little while, I've been moving house and getting back into the groove of Uni. Life's good.

Before moving out of my last student accommodation, I had a little board game night with my roommates. Before that, though, I cooked one last meal in that quaint student kitchen: Spaghetti Aglio e Olio (Spaghetti with garlic and oil). I actually ended up making a little too much, and it took me a couple hours to finish it all... but it was worth every delicious bite.

Just before eating, I saw my roommate in the hallway getting ready for bed and showed her my creation. She said that it smelt very good, although she couldn't try any due to brushing her teeth. Today she asked me for the recipe so she can make it herself. This one is for you Eline! <3

Disclaimer by the way, this is not my recipe. It is a classic Italian dish that I love to eat, and so I must share it :)

Ingredients (for about 2 servings)

160g of spaghetti (about 2 👌fulls)

a nice glug of olive oil (about 6 tbsp)

3 cloves of garlic cuz we're garlic girls

a good grating of parmesan (I used Violife) / nutritional yeast

a handful of parsley (fresh or dried, but fresh is better)

salt + pepper

Method

In a large pot, bring about 1.5 litres of water to a boil. You want to make sure that there is not too much water so that the resulting pasta water is starchy enough to thicken up the sauce. Once the water is boiling, add in a lot of salt so it's as salty as the sea, and then add in your pasta. Cook this for just a couple minutes less than the package instructions.

Whilst the pasta is cooking, heat up your olive oil in a medium/large frying pan. Whilst this heats up, mince your garlic gloves and parsley.

Add the garlic to the oil, stirring around till wonderfully aromatic. Make sure to keep a low to medium temperature for this, as burnt garlic tastes really bad.

Next, add the parsley and a few twists of freshly ground black pepper to the pan, and stir until fragrant.

The pasta should be done or almost done at this point. Once it is, drain the pasta, and save about a mug-full of the pasta water.

Add the pasta to the frying pan and toss it around a bit. Then add in the pasta water, little by little, and stir together until the sauce coats everything beautifully.

For a little extra loveliness, add in your parmesan/nutritional yeast now.

Give everything a good stir, and serve up straight away. If you like, you can garnish with a little extra parsley and parmesan/nooch.

ok so i called myself the unofficial head of this ship (lol) but actually looking through the tumblr tag i must denounce myself and crown @nyoomfruits instead bc she has been on it from day 1

max and oscar are just so similar i think they get each other!! they're both very down to earth and very focussed on the job. both of them hailed as extraordinary in lower formulas and quickly making their way up (ofc max's was very quick and oscar had his year out, but still all things considered). i feel like a lot of it is max being surprised about oscar, i dont think he expected that deadpan energy/serious but enjoying it/quick wit from him and now hes like oh i see, i get it. maybe also helps how much lando gets along with oscar and max obvs likes lando. trusts his opinion.

this tho!!! max never sits on the floor but sees oscar doing it so joins him?! for no reason?! lando was in the chair it wouldve been so easy to sit next to him (as he then does later) "thank you mercedes" and then max's fond laugh and almost surprise. surprise that oscar can be witty like that!! max didnt expect it oscar turning around to watch the screen and being too late. max laughing at him, checking to see if lando is laughing too. if it isnt weird that max is laughing at oscar's joke/misfortune. max then doubling down and voicing what happened as if they didnt all just witness it right there.

like i said on the oscar discord too, i think oscar would indulge max's maxplaining!! he enables it and is like "Huh, I never thought about it like that. Have you considered that [x]" and then suddenly its 11pm and everyone else has left the paddock before they even look up from their convo

Tails’ favorite food are mint candies (even if Sonic says they’re not a “real meal”), but what is his comfort food? Chili Dogs! He can’t help it, the moment he feels sad, or lonely or angsty he’ll go cook some Chili Dogs, and every time without fail he’ll feel better in a matter of seconds.

It might have something to do with the fact that every time Tails makes Chilli Dogs Sonic appears at his doorstep no mater how far away he is.

Or maybe not, maybe they both were hungry at the same time at it was just a happy coincidence that Sonic went to that specific live-in lab and that Tails was cooking right at that moment.

Had the absolute pleasure of seeing the @arcticmonkeys tonight at the @budweiserstage (from the barrier!!!) as a birthday celebration.

Not long after the Monkeys took the stage, I noticed a quick conversation between Jamie and Alex, with Jamie motioning in my general direction.

Alex proceeded to scan to crowd during the next song, and during the break, he headed to the side of the stage and had a short exchange with a stage hand while pointing seemingly directly at me.

Next thing I know, there's a stage hand interrupting my horrible singing along to personally hand me a pick, while gesturing to my sash.

Guess the boys noticed it was my birthday and sent a treat my way. What class acts. ❤️‍🔥 😘

Yes, poor people insist on eating cheap food and refusing to learn to cook. They wouldn't want better even if they did have the resources, that's just how they are by nature.

Thank you for correcting those ignorant Jason stans. Their headcanons of Jason being a good cook and enjoying fancy food are so seriously harmful.

Cass (who canonically lacks a lot of home skills and greatly enjoys eating other people's food) is one of the best cooks. Bruce (canonically a terrible cook who can't even make a sandwich) "does okay"—sure, it's your headcanon. Alfred, the classy British guy, is logically a great cook and "super posh". We can sum up Tim's unimpressive cooking skills just briefly.

But we need an entire section describing your headcanon about how Jason can't cook and needs to stick to "poverty comfort foods", because he comes from a poor background.

I have a wholesome question please? How would the male yandere twst boys react if female darling is a kitchen witch (a witch that focuses on food magic) who LOVES to bake for her suitor! How would he react? Who would be so smug? Who’s heart would melt from love?

Wholesome and yandere are not two words I would put on the same sentence, but I am weak for witches with cooking baking motifs so I'm writing this one.

Ruggie would adore them, you can't tell me that the way to Ruggie's heart, isn't his stomach. Food is so comforting for him, it's warm, and fulfilling, and his darling makes it with so much care... He completely melts. The only downside would be that anything he eats now outside of Ramschakle won't taste as good as it did before.

Azul would be selfish with his darling's gift. He always takes care of his figure, so he can't indulge much in baked goods, and that makes him a little bitter. I imagine he tries to convince his darling to not bake for others, or try to take their cooking away from others.

Trey would be very proud of his darling's talent. He can't wait to take them home and show them off to his parents and siblings, maybe Trey can start slowly slipping the idea of a future together in his darling's head.

Cater thinks the taste is good, but the presentation is the best. He is smug about having such cute and exclusive pastries that only he can post online. He gets very jealous whenever he sees his darling sharing their talent with someone else.

Malleus will get soft with every gift his darling makes for him, but the image of his darling baking is very homely, he can't help it when his mind starts to wonder. Even if cake isn't his favorite food, he really appreciates it and will get happy once his darling starts learning all of his likes and dislikes.

Floyd wants to get creative and test what his darling can do, and what both of them can create together. Sometimes the kitchen becomes a mess, and sometimes both have such synchrony that everything seems to fall into its place. However, Floyd on occassions brings some meat of dubious origins...

Sorry, this one is an idea with my mc Judas. I think he would be very curious about his darling's magic and starts taking notes while cooking together, it's also a good excuse to get some alone time with them. He also misses greatly his home since he came to nrc, so maybe he will ask his darling to help him recreate a flavor he can't reproduce with twst's spices.
