I've never been particularly interested in reading the love hypothesis (contemporary romance isn't my thing) but seeing people get absolutely frothing mad at its mere existence is pushing me close to actually picking it up.

The Ultimate Reylo Fanfic List
* = highly recommend (aka if you’re going to read anything off this list read this)
Canonverse AUs
***All Our Days - E - 221k - "I can listen no longer in silence."The hologram projection of his strangely handsome face is cobalt blue, flickering, and full of static. "I must speak to you, Rey. You… you pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me that I am not too late.” He groans, runs his hands through his dark, silver-streaked hair, then refocuses his gaze on the holorecorder. “I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight and a half years ago. Do not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death."Here the recording of Ben takes a deep breath, and looks down at something outside the holorecorder’s field of view. Perhaps at his hands, Rey manages to think, through the veil of shock and timid, fluttering hope. She wishes she were there with him, so she could take them in her own, and offer him the confidence to carry on.But this is only a hologram, so she must wait. Eventually, when he looks up again, his features have settled. He looks… Fierce. Determined. Self-assured."I have loved none but you," he says. - canonverse jane austen au
trillions of molecules - T - 11k - Fake papers forged, contract signed and a navy blue jumpsuit with his name printed on the chest supplied to him, the man who called himself Solo was hired by the Felucian Transit Corporation as shuttle operator number B414. - tros fix it au

She pulls off her sweater and takes him inside her again and rides him into the night. - canonverse far from the madding crowd au
*landscape with a blur of conquerors - E - 362k - "While I share your contempt for this situation in which we find ourselves, do not mistake it as apathy," he hissed through gritted teeth, dark eyes burning. "I hardly expect your disposition to sweeten, but I will be damned if I allow my future Empress to behave in a manner that reflects poorly on me and on the First Order!""If you allow?" She wrenched her arm out of his viselike grasp, batting his hand away for good measure. "I don't belong to you. I don't belong to anyone.""That might have been the case back when you were a scavenger on that pitiful scrap heap of a planet, but now?" His sardonic gaze flickered over her silk robes and the jewels woven through her elaborate braids. "Now you are the Chume'da, and the Chume'da belongs to her people. Their fate is entirely in your hands. Should you cross the line, it is they who will suffer for it. Am I making myself clear?""I hate you," she said bitterly. He sneered at her. "See? Already you are acclimatizing so well to married life." - arranged marriage au

Now the school gossips won’t leave her alone, prying for tidbits that Rey wouldn’t give them even if she had any. And she doesn’t. Because Mr. Solo is too horrified at being soulmates with an underage girl to even talk to her. - soulmate au
Mitan, Midi - E - 83k - After a French notary contacts Rey to inform her she's inherited a house in the Drôme (France), she decides from one day to the next to quit her job and move there. The house is pretty secluded, there's no service, no internet, no way to reach other people aside from the landline in the living-room.Ideal conditions, by her standards, as those theoretically should allow her to be perfectly alone. Theoretically. - french country side au
*A Treehouse Covered in Salt - E - 34k -High school senior Rey Johnson has lived next door to Ben Solo her whole life. The two could not be more different and at school, Rey wouldn't be caught dead in his presence. That doesn't stop her from sneaking out to their treehouse every night. Despite her unwillingness to be friends with Ben in the light of day, he has always been there with her in the darkness. - high school au
Initial - M - 45k - A Soulmate AU in which you are born with the initials of your soulmate marked on the nape of your neck. Easy enough, right? Except for two people who don't use their real names. - soulmate au

a place to go - E - 52k - All Rey Johnson wanted was solitude. A place to go where she could escape from the daily stressors and mayhem of her job. A week of seclusion was just what she needed. And then Ben Solo arrived. - snowed in au
into the great laughter of mankind - E - 30k - There is something about watching Rey put her mind to task. Ben can't put a name to this something, exactly— all he knows is that it fascinates him like nothing else has in a long, long time."Dr. Solo?" She glances over at him. "What do you think?"I think I'm doomed, he wants to say but doesn't. I think the curse of the pharaohs has nothing on you. I think you are my Egypt. - archaeologist au
(now it’s) Time to Learn - M - 86k - “You’re a teacher?” Ben doesn’t look like a teacher. At least not like any teacher Rey has ever had. - teacher au

Gilded - M - 11k - Everyone had two marks, one for class and another to identify a soulmate. She only had one: green rings on her finger, proof she was part of the laboring class. oh autumn, oh teakettle, oh grace - E - 30k - "So let me get this straight," he says. "You're a dryad.""Quite so," she cheerfully replies."Like an actual—" His hand rises to make a feeble gesture at the towering elms that surround them— "tree-dwelling, speaks-with-animals, has-magical-powers, frolics-through-the-woods-in-orgiastic-pagan-frenzy dryad?"She wrinkles her delicately freckled nose. "Well, I don't know about orgiastic frenzy, that's really more of a maenad type of deal."He looks her up and down, taking in her pretty face and her slender figure in the skimpy white dress."Too bad," he mumbles. - dryad roadtrip au
A Proposal by Any Other Name - E - 188k - Rey and Finn have been A Thing for a long time now. Since she was eighteen, to be exact. When Finn leaves on a trip to Europe for six months for work, Rey finally chases after him to Dublin to do what he seems to be putting off: propose. She wants a family, after all.The universe has different ideas. Her flights are delayed, storms hit, she loses her tickets and everything seems to be going horribly. To top it off, she ends up stranded around a rather irritating man by the name of Kylo Ren. It goes about as well as you'd expect. - leap year au
endless summer afternoon - E - 63k - “My son's room is always made up,” Han had said, hitting a light switch as Rey clung to a dirty backpack in the dark hallway, “he never comes home. Warm bed might as well get some use.”Rey spared Han some of the dignity of his own longing assessment of the space that clearly hadn’t been looked at in a long time. An empty room in a quiet house. As gruff as he was, handing it off to some runaway nobody just because she was helping him rebuild a car was one of the kindest gestures she’d ever experienced, and had a hidden weight that she knew needed a respectful amount of privacy. Mysteries were often about unresolved sadness, and were usually only solved by the people who didn’t feel it.Rey is offered a place to stay: a spare bedroom once belonging to the mysterious Ben Solo. What does she do when she wakes up with him wanting his bed back? - roommates au
Dandelion - E - 45k - Rey's an ex con and orphan, just released from jail after killing Plutt. She follows advice from her former guardian, Maz, and finds a job at Luke's coffee shop. Ben's a lawyer who lost his job and moved back to his hometown. He falls for Rey, unaware of her dark past. - coffee shop au
A Few Small Repairs - E - 69k - Ben Solo is a ruthless property developer, and Rey Johnson is the lone holdout on the block. She does not intend to give up what's hers, not for anything. (Not even for a pair of pretty eyes.) - property developer au
Unbroken - E - 7k - He found her sleeping in the stables, curled up in the stall of his newest, unbroken colt...
Lockjaw - M - 106k - Kylo finds Rey unconscious and near death on the side of a road, surrounded by twitching, wretched things looking to her for their next meal. Ever the altruist, he picks them off and takes her with him, saving her life in the process. It's no wonder that when she wakes she feels she owes him, and agrees to become his travel companion as he crosses the United States in search of safety and a new home. - zombie apoclypse au
Everything to Prove - M - 13k - “The show,” he says. “It’s probably best if they don’t—if we don’t—”And Rey follows his line of thought at once. For all the program is one that doesn’t seem melodramatic—the height of drama in previous seasons came from someone’s cake falling over and that was about it—she does not doubt that the producers and cameramen would leap at the opportunity to make there be something out of nothing in their relationship—especially if there was something out of something.“Yeah,” she agrees. “Yeah, probably. We can pick baking stations that are…” but she doesn’t want to complete the thought. She likes baking next to Ben.“Or we can just be careful?” he suggests, sounding quite as pained by the prospect as Rey feels.“Yeah, careful. I can do careful,” Rey says at once and her lips are on his again and he’s laughing now, and she’s laughing, and she didn’t think laughter would be part of all this. She didn’t think it could be. But here she is, laughing and kissing and holding a man who, at some point, she’s going to want to beat. She does her best not to think of that now. It’s a friendly competition, after all. It’s not life and death. It’s baking. - great british bake off au
*In Bloom - E - 13k - The flowers that bedeck her skin don’t lie—ballet dancer Rey is in love with her partner, Ben. But the years go by and his skin stays resolutely, devastatingly blank. He doesn’t love her. But when his hands are on her body, she can pretend. - ballet soulmates au
By Blood and Flame - E - 10k - Rey can’t go to her professors with this spell. She needs help, though, needs someone to do the spell with her, and she needs the best because it’s tricky. Dangerous. There’s a boy on campus. Powerful. Mysterious. He’s admired and envied, feared and loathed, depending on who’s talking, but for all everyone knows his story, no one seems to really know him. And Rey… Rey has been curious about him for… well, for longer than she wants to admit. She’s not sure if it’s good or bad luck that he’s the perfect person to help cast her spell. - magic college au
count the rings - E - 63k - “Because you’re sitting there all comfy, not looking at all bridal-” “I’ll just fetch the veil out of my backpack, shall I?” “-when you could be, you know, making a move on that fine-ass tree.” In which camping comes with unexpected consequences. - accidental marriage au
(won’t you let me) walk you home from school - E - 129k - Ben, a counselor in the upper school at the legendary Alliance Academy, keeps finding himself interacting with the lower school art teacher, Rey. He definitely doesn’t like it. - teacher au
follow in your form - E - 23k - Ben Solo wakes up paralyzed and angry about it.A story about dealing with change, holding onto hope, and finding love. - quadriplegic ben au
*screwdriver - M -101k - Rey is a bright-eyed intern on her first campaign trail, Ben is an irritated data analyst, and how difficult can it be to get a legacy senator elected president? Apparently fucking impossible. - political au
9 pints - E - 83k - She knew next to nothing, and Google was largely unhelpful. All of her searches (“vampire sex rules” and “vampire dos and don’ts” and one very self-indulgent “average vampire cock size big?”) linked her to dated top ten lists written by anyone other than an actual vampire.Twenty minutes of frustrated scrolling eventually led her to a supernatural dating forum. The website was horribly aged, but still active. Questions were tagged, which meant that it was easy to narrow down her search. Vampire, she clicked, and Sex.--In which Rey gets suckered into shooting porn with one of Poe's pickiest vampire actors. - magical porn stars au
fine young cannibals - E - 27k - Kylo raised his head to the sky as he inhaled, his broad chest expanding even wider. His eyes fluttered shut, savoring the scent like a sumptuous meal. He grinned.“Oh,” he murmured, so softly Rey wasn’t even sure it was meant for her ears. His eyes slid to meet hers, scarlet and violent and hungry. “You brought a snack.”And then all hell broke loose.About three things, Rey is absolutely positive:First, she is totally, completely, and madly in love with her vampire boyfriend, Poe.Second, there is another vampire—an older, evil, definitely-not-hot vampire—that thirsts for her blood and wants nothing more than to kill her.And third, she is maybe not absolutely positive about either of these things. - twilight au
Epithumia - E - 46k- ἐπιθυμία, ας, ἡ: epithumia : desire, passionate longing, lust *** “No extra credit.” He made a noise that might have been a laugh. “You ask that every time.” “Well, I have to try.” Rey said, weakly. “Can you make an exception?” A lone eyebrow ascended his lofty forehead into his hairline. “Try harder, Miss Kenobi.” - college teacher/student au
Historical AUs (ranging from medieval to the early 2000s)
light carries on endlessly - M - 6k - “Traitor,” he told Cerberus gruffly not too much later, using both hands to scratch behind the hound’s many ears. What appeared to be a rat tail lay nearby on a blood-stained bit of stone. “What did I tell you about women with pretty eyes?”One wet tongue lapped at his wrist, and he sighed. “Right. Nothing.” - Hades and Persephone au
The Witch in the Wood - E - 138k - As a knight errant of the kingdom of Alderaan, Kylo Ren has traveled the country, completing quest after perilous quest in search of redemption for the dark deeds of his past. When an evil witch captures the princess of a neighboring kingdom, Kylo reluctantly accepts the burden of rescue with the assumption that it will be a simple task.It is not. For the creature that lives in the woods is not a monster at all.Since her mentor died, Rey has lived in the witch’s tree and uses magic to maintain the balance of the forest. Her life is practical, repetitive, and simple—at least, until a wrathful knight thunders through her door and levels a sword at her throat. Yet something within the knight calls to her, a buzz beneath his skin that she recognizes.Without a doubt, he is not who he appears to be. - medieval witch au
Black Knight, White Queen - E - 53k - Luke Skywalker wrote his sister a letter on his deathbed, revealing that his ward is the orphaned heir of a family long thought extinct - and politically powerful. That letter fell into the wrong hands, and the secret of Rey's heritage is secret no more. The Emperor has managed to unite the Kingdoms, but he is old, and his son is weak. Seeking to ensure his son's claim to his throne, he sends his most trusted captain to bring the girl - willing or not - to be his son's bride. Rey is taken from her far-flung home, and plunged into a world of court intrigue, arranged marriage, political rivals, and would-be assassins - the black knight her constant companion and bodyguard. But even he, her dark shadow and protector, she cannot know whether to trust... - medieval bodyguard au

The situation, of course, would have been,” he wrung his hands together and stared at her feet, “It would have been preferable if we had known one another more. On several occasions, I did attempt to make myself known to you, but you seemed to have other preoccupations.”Rey could feel her face contorting into a sneer to spit out her barbed words, “Perhaps that was your cue not to marry me!” - regency arranged marriage au

And So The World Faded Away by SpaceWaffleHouseTM
Rey and Ben are actors in a well-loved tv show, and after seasons of sexual tension between their characters, the time has come for them to film their first sex scene. When that time arises, though one of them has done this a few times before and knows the ropes, but the other has never filmed a scene like this before. In fact, Rey's never even had sex in the first place.
Luckily she and Ben trust each other offscreen as much as they do on.
Laid Between Words by Jeeno2
“It wouldn’t be a real marriage, obviously,” Ben clarifies, as though that’s an important point that might not have occurred to her. “Though we’d have to live together, obviously. And I’m sure there are a lot of other things we’ll have to do to convince people.”

(Or: Rey is nearing the end of her temporary work Visa. Her friend Ben offers to marry her so she can stay in the U.S. She says yes.)

The year is 1994. The Iron Curtain has come down, the oligarchs have begun their rise to power, and Kyril Ren, a powerful member of the infamous crime syndicate Solntsevskaya Bratva, has been given a job: hunt down an estranged uncle who has been snitching to the FBI.

Turns out she was born in a little village named Vershinino, but if she wants to know more than that… she’s going to have to go there herself.
TL;DR: What up here's a Russian Mafia AU.

His reaction does not disappoint. “Get out.”

Familiar, a Reylo fanfic
Someone requested a fic taking place between the bridal carry and the interrogation in The Force Awakes.  Here it is, enjoy!
Kylo Ren carries the girl himself onto the ship and into the med bay.  She's not diminutive and the work winds him.  But he won't let go of something this important -- the map, that is.  He needs to get to Luke Skywalker, before the Resistance does.
The troopers escort him to the med bay, where he lays the girl onto the examination table.  He dismisses them.  Then he stands back but does not leave, as the droid trundles around, measuring pulse, blood pressure, temperature.  She is fit for interrogation.  Kylo sends the droid away.  He is able to look at her more closely now.  She is very young indeed, barely a woman, and the knots at the back of her head are the pigtails of a child.  But she is healthy-looking, warm of skin, slack of mouth, and rather pretty.  He gets the sudden, dropping sensation that he has seen her before.
She stirs, and his thoughts scatter.  She is not supposed to wake this soon. Her eyes flutter.  Kylo hangs back, watching.  She is not restrained.  She opens her lids and stares at the ceiling, vegetative.  Then slowly, slowly she turns her head.
He wonders if she will scream.  This is soon replaced by a different kind of wonder.  The girl's lips drift into a lazy smile.
"It's you."
It's ....?
Her incongruous reaction throws his brain into gear.  She doesn't seem to recall the fear from before, when she ran from him in the woods; and the bitter-tasting desire to kill him is absent.  He takes a few steps toward her, and peers into her face.  Her smile doesn't contract.  Neither do her pupils.  They are wide as though still in sleep.  She is in a liminal state of consciousness.  It is possible, though rare, that this can happen after manipulating the hypothalamus.  She will dip back into sleep before awaking to full consciousness.
Satisfied, he steps back.
She shifts to her side and sits up.
"It's you," she says again.
Kylo shakes his masked head.  "You don't know me."
"Yes," she says.  Her words slur.  "Yes.  I would know you anywhere.  You've never been so ... solid before.  But you're always there.  In my dreams.  I never remember when I wake up.
"This doesn't feel like a dream.  Are you real?"
He doesn't answer, doesn't move.
"Do you know my name?" she asks.
He shakes his head.  He holds off diving into her mind.  Not yet.  Not while she is vulnerable, exposed like this.  Even monsters have their limits.
"Funny.  Neither do I."
"Do you know mine?" he asks.  His voice crackles through the modulator.
"Yes.  I mean ... no.  Not the word-name.  Just the you-name.  It's how I can tell it's you, beneath that mask."  She scrutinizes him, as though by sheer will she can penetrate it.  "Will you take that off?"
It is an eerie feeling, the recognition without being recognized.  She seems so sure she knows him, but how can she?  Who is he if he is not Kylo Ren, the Jedi-killer, with the blood and tears trailing him like keening ghosts?  If she doesn't know him enough to hate him, how can she act with such familiarity?
She has mistaken him for someone else.
He clicks off his mask, to show her that she is not who she believes him to be.  But her smile flares up, renewed.
Kylo feels distinctly uncomfortable.  He does not like to be looked upon directly.  "I like your face," she says, in the lazy, delayed speech of a dipsomaniac.
Kylo jerks.  Lifts his arms to replace the mask.  But this distresses her, and she tries to come off the examination table to land on her feet.  Her legs collapse on impact.  Kylo has to choose.  He lets the helmet drop and darts forward to catch her.
He lifts her as before, but this time she puts her arms around his neck, helping to disperse her weight.
Kylo tries to deposit her onto the examination table.
But -- she --
-- she won't --
-- let go.
He feels like he is trying to shake off a some grass or leaf or dust clinging to a limb.  She only tightens her grip and sighs into his cowl.
This is most objectionable.
But he can't risk damage to the asset.  So he maneuvers himself onto a seat in the corner of the med bay, effectively placing her in his lap.
How long does she intend to hold onto him --?  Kylo swipes his arm forward.  The door to the med bay closes with a hiss and locks.
From the fabric of his cowl, she drawls, "You won't hurt me."
"I will," he speaks lowly.  "If I have to.  I'm a bad man."
But something about her breathing tells him she is barely with him.
"You won't remember any of this," he tells her; he tells himself.  "When you next wake, you will hate me, and we will be enemies.  You will have forgotten."
"I don't want to forget."  Her voice, distant but certain.
"You always forget.  You said so yourself."
He doesn't know what makes him play along with her mistaken fancy, her misplaced trust.  Perhaps it is a bit of respite, to be taken for someone else, if only for a little while.
Kylo holds her.  Her arms slacken.  Her breathing comes, deep and uniform.  He doesn't move just yet.  He closes out the space around him, submerging into his senses.  Allows himself not to think but to be, as in meditation; with the weight of her pressing a gentle comfort and her breathing the tempo to which he regulates his.
When he takes her to the interrogation room, he insists on setting her up himself.  He takes care with her head, tilting it upward so she can breathe without obstruction.  A trooper brings him his helmet.  He replaces it, a swoosh of compressors and of his own relief. When she wakes this time, Kylo will watch her and let her rage wash over him like a bath of acid.  He will take off his helmet when she calls him a monster and not regret that she doesn't know him.  He will be brutal, and plunge into her mind to take what is not his.  She will clasp him, and wrestle back, turning his own weapon against himself.  He will experience the kindness and cruelty with which he moves through this life and wonder that it still hurts, fresh after all this time.

On MCU, Star Wars, Star Trek and feminism and queerness (or lack thereof...)
So this is all taken from a conversation I had with a good friend on Discord and just thought I’d rearrange it, clean up my thoughts, and share it here. I left her comments out, so these are just my opinions.
This will probably be tagged as “reylo critical,” but I’m not anti-reylo, anti-reylo fans, or anything like that. In fact, reylo fans probably agree with me that the relationship needed a lot MORE than what it was given, which is why a lot of them have probably turned to fanfiction to continue the story...
(Spoilers for Star Wars, MCU, She-Ra, Picard, and I guess my own series?? 😂)
So... I'm kind of over big Marvel movies, and not just because of Endgame. (Everyone I’m sure knows why I hate Endgame.) And, yeah, I'm definitely more into the whole series thing, especially after stuff like The Mandalorian and Picard.
Which I guess is to say... I’m just kind of over big franchise movies in general.
I think I'm just really, really into seeing characters develop, grow... form relationships (not necessarily romantic).
We did see that somewhat with the first few Marvel movies, which was why I was so into it for a while. The recent Star Wars trilogy I feel failed spectacularly at it. And late Marvel has lost the magic I feel. Many of the relationships were just... sort of lost in all the explosions, I guess. Bucky and Steve’s friendship is the BIGGEST casualty, but there were a lot of other friendships and relationships that just kind of petered out.
And films like Black Panther and Ragnarok were so good almost because they didn’t really fit in with the rest of the franchise.
Also, and this seems like it’s going off on a tangent, but it’s really not. But executives seem more willing to "let" queer characters exist in series than in films.
Also also, a lot of the time homophobia is wrapped up in sexism, and so lack of queer characters can go hand-in-hand with lazy treatment of female characters.
For example, the sequel trilogy just should've leaned SO HARD into the Rey/Poe/Finn friendship. That was the beauty of Luke/Leia/Han... yes, two became a couple, but not to the detriment of their friendship with the third. In fact, it literally made them a family. The same thing could’ve happened with Rey/Poe/Finn. Instead, the films are WAY too focused on pushing heterosexual romantic relationships, whether requited or not.
There's a part of me that's annoyed at Reylo fans, even though nothing's their fault. But like... those of us who usually become enamored by wlw or mlm pairings, we pretty much NEVER get to see them come to fruition. And often we're told, "you're just seeing things that aren't there” or “can’t two guys/two girls just be friends??” Yet for Rey and Kylo/Ben... honestly, their chemistry/connection is as tenuous as, say, Finn and Poe (who I don't particularly ship, but, like, I get it?). Except, since it's a straight pairing, of course that ship ends up sailing.
And then you had one-sided Rose x Finn, and one-sided Finn x Rey, and it's just like... it's exhausting. For gods' sake. Can't guys and girls just sometimes BE FRIENDS??
Even in the original trilogy you had Luke kissing Leia and lording it over Han (before they knew they were twins, of course). It just put Leia in this ugly, traditional "prize" role for each of the guys, which, really is just... gross.
But I'll admit, stuff like that is what makes me passionate about storytelling. Though I'm no George Lucas, so no one but a handful of wonderful fanfic readers will ever see my stories 😋
I'm already planning another [🚨🚨SPOILER!!!🚨🚨] wlw romance in the next book, and I briefly thought, but I already have two... is it okay to have a third? And an angry voice in my head was like, YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT IT'S OKAY.
And it’s just like... Poe seemed to genuinely flirt with Finn. So their interactions were light and healthy and sweet. But Kylo and Rey, yeah, that was honestly abusive. I'm not saying a romance can't form from an initial relationship like that. But it shouldn't be forgiven quite so easily. Or, let's say... I can believe that Rey is sweet and inexperienced enough to immediately forgive him b/c she's SO excited he's turned to the Light side. But the film shouldn't then just let him DIE, especially in noble sacrifice. His character requires redemption. It needs growth.
I want to then actually see them trying to be together, and him still having flashes of rage, and her coming to terms with all the evil he's done. And maybe their relationship survives that, maybe it doesn't. Meanwhile, it could be juxtaposed with Finn and Poe, who squabble like a married couple, but never truly hurt one another, and whose relationship becomes solid and sweet.
But when it comes down to it, that will never happen; it could have never happened. Because one of those pairings is straight and hence it became canon. And the other pairing is not-straight, and hence it NEVER had a chance at becoming canon.
And the fact that we’re talking about three guys and only one girl is also a little hint into where all this homophobia stems from in the first place: sexism.
(Maybe that’s why the only franchise I can think of that has the two main characters ending up in a same-sex relationship is from a SERIES and a feminist one at that: She-Ra.)
Anyway. It’s great that Seven and that other lady (whose name I can’t even recall) end up together at the end of Picard because that’s more than would ever happen in a Star Trek film. (For fuck’s sake, Hikaru Sulu was allowed a five second scene with a man who may have been his husband but it’s not like it was obvious or anything, and that’s the extent of the gay, ladies and gentlemen and folks.) (And oh god, don’t get me started on the policing of queer characters that comes in at all angles from the community, and that’s why we have that totally shitty storyline in Discovery. That guy’s husband should’ve stayed DEAD because those two have ZERO chemistry with each other. And okay, I’ll say it: the dead guy can’t act!)
So, yeah, Seven and her new girlfriend. Like, it’s great they’re together. But I’ll cheer when this happens to a main character and his, her, or their significant other. I probably shouldn’t hold my breath.

The force of the new beginning
Tumblr media
NOTE: I plan on making a big, angsty and fluffy fanfic about my reylo on wattpad but for now, just for tonight I’m postng this part here because I just can’t live with Ben dying so... yeah, basically that’s it, hope you enjoy it.
Ben gets out of the pit and notices Rey, he's worried, he's afraid of what might have happened to her since she's not moving.
He's hurt and it's difficult for him to get to her, but he fights through his pain because he needs to reach her.
Rey... rey. It's all that's on his mind.
When he finally gets to her he notices that she's cold, but doens't want to think too much about it. He pulls her into his lap and holds her delicately, expectingly and with fear that maybe it took all of her to defeat Palpatine.
Ben stars to panic a little and feels cold run through his veins when Rey doesn't answer, and her chest is not going up and down with her breathing. He knows she's death, but if he hurries then he may still find her force, her soul and with his own make her come back to life.
He takes a deep breath and places his palm gently but firmly over her belly. Slowly and with each breath he feels a surge of electricity, of life coming out of him and traveling from the tip of his fingers to Rey's body, sharing life with her.
He had never done something like this before, only healing but he knows that if he concentrates then he'll be able to make it.
Suddenly he feels a warm palm over his own and opens his eyes to find Rey waking up.
Her face is full with surprise when she realizes who's holding her and she sits upright without leaving Ben's eyes for one second. There are so much things running through both their minds that all they can do is stare at eachother.
Ben sighs with relief that he was able to bring her back, there's longing and fear in his eyes, that she may run away from him once again and excitement of being this close to her. Rey, in the other hand can feel the shift in him, can feel his new feelings, the cloud of confusion has left his mind and she's now grateful and excited.
"Ben" she whispers loud enough for them to hear, as she recognizes him, there's light in his eyes and she leans forward to kiss him. She waited for so long, to see him, really him and now she just couldn't let the oportunity pass.
They're both smiling as this is something they've craved for so long. Not only the kiss, but their company, to understand each other, to hold each other.
They pull apart and lock their eyes, there's true happiness in their faces, there's only a  feeling like they've finally found peace in their company and maybe things are all good now, but then Ben falls back.
Rey tries to grab him and gently puts his head on the floor.
"What is it?... I don't get it" she's whispering but in some words her voice fails.
Her mind is rushing through ideas, trying to find what's wrong with Ben and trying to find a solution fast. She can't lose him, not now when they've just found each other.
She needs him, she realizes. He's the balance and the company she longed for such a long time and at least she owes him the favor of trying to do something to heal him.
"Ben... Ben!" A tear rolls down her cheeck as she checks him to try and find any injuries. His face is so different to what it was just seconds ago. It's pale, lifeless, sad...
She notices some scratches and wounds he had from his fall to the pit, his leg is heavily injured too so she calms herself to be able to heal him.
"Please... please, please" she knows even saying those words are distracting her but she can't help but beg that her force is enough to heal him.
"Rey..." His deep voice sounds a little weak, but it's definately him.
She opens her eyes but doesn't take her hand off his leg.
"Rey don't. You need the force, stop it" he can't even lift his head from the ground to look at her.
"You didn't stop, so I'm not giving up on you either." After letting out a deep breath she feels like some warmth has come back to Ben's body so she stops and checks him.
"You didn't have to do that" he says, as his hand goes up and down her arm really slow, then he wipes away another tear that falls from her cheek.
"Just stop talking..." he pulls her to him and hugs her.
They're both tired but they stay there for a while, finding peace in their heartbeats and their breathing. After all they had to endure, all the pain, the fights, the sadness, at least now they finally have each other.
"So now what are we gonna do?" he asks after a while as he holds her on his chest.
"I... don't know. What about we go back to everyone and figure it out step by step?" Rey proposes. Honestly there'll be a lot of things to do and a lot of people expecting something from her, and him,  but they can think about that later.
"Okay" they smile and stand together, it's true that some of Rey's force is gone and they're both tired. But they're alive.
———————————————–
The next two days went by like a blur of congratulations, traveling and resting for Rey and Ben but finally today they felt a lot better.
The rebels or... just the people were resting for now on Yavin IV. There was still some uneasiness from the people, like they couldn't believe they didn't have to go running around trying to win a war anymore. Rey ashured them that there was still a lot left to do, like trying to find order and peace in all the planets and help eachother.
When people started trying to demand specifc things from her, or an immediate answer was when she was must grateful to have Ben by her side.
People were still and probably would be for a long time insecure to trust him, but he certainly was more prepared for ordering people and trying to reason with them.
"Would you like to join me for a walk?" Ben whispered to Rey as Poe and some other pilots celebrated something.
"Yes" she smiled softly at him and took his hand when he offered it to her.
They both smiled in complicity and walked away as nobody noticed them.
There were lots of talls trees and colorful flowers around this place and now Rey trusted Ben to guide her wherever they were going to.
"Careful" he warned her and took her arm to prevent her from falling when she got caught on a tree's root.
She couldn't help but laugh.
"What?" He asked smiling a little.
"Don't you feel weird?"
"Weird how?" He stopped walking to turn around to face her.
"This... us. You're watching over me not to trip but four days ago we were fighting with lightsabers"
"It's weird, but at the same time I feel like it's natural for me. Our bond made me feel close to you since we've had it. No matter what our relationship was, I was used to feel you and be with you in some way and this... this feels like an extention of that bond" he shrugged and kept walking.
Rey could see he was getting a little shy.
"I get it. It also feels kind of normal for me too I was just saying that it's a big change..." she didn't hesitate to take his hand again and returned the soft squeeze he gave her.
After some minutes of walking Ben stopped at the top of a pile of rocks and sat, helping Rey sit beside him.
She rested her head on his shoulder and stared front into the distance, with the sun barely touching their skin, she exhaled. She never thought she could feel so much...
"Peace. This place is peaceful and I know so many people asking things from you was making you anxious so... I thought about this" He said, like he was reading her mind.
"Thank you"
Instead of answering her Ben kissed the top of her head, and they stayed there for a while. Late enough that someone had to go and look for them.

Once upon a time... In a land where power tried to triumph over peace, an upcoming unique union would see myth and destiny be forever intertwined, diminishing powerful darkness.
In an isolated and almost abandoned village, Jakku, there lived a young woman who had raised herself since she could remember. She didn't know any other land. Her days were as miserable as the work she did to survive. She was known as the Scavenger; she retrieved weapons and machinery of old from the last battle that occurred there, for little coin and food. Sunset was her favorite time of the day as the air was cooler. She would find a secluded place to eat her supper, looking up at the stars wishing to earn enough coin to leave the village so her life could begin.
Days away from Jakku was the lovely town, Naboo. It was known for its waterfalls, meadows, and peaceful folk. In the Royal Palace, lived House Skywalker where Queen Leia reigned. Her husband was a famous equestrian and former soldier, Han Solo. Decades past, when the war between House Skywalker and House Palpatine occurred, Han was a soldier from another village and became the princess' bodyguard. As the war progressed they became each other's bodyguards and fell in love. House Skywalker conquered House Palpatine near Jakku. The night of victory for Naboo was the night Leia's and Han's son, Ben, was born, promising a new era of hope.
Prince Ben of House Skywalker was studious, always practicing his calligraphy. He was a master swordsman, learning from the most skilled and helped to train Naboo's soldiers. He loved spending time with his family. His grandmother Padme always shined his visits with picnics at the meadow, eating exotic foods, and giving him a fashionable wardrobe. His grandfather Anakin was a man he barely knew as he passed when Ben was still an infant. Throughout the years he would hear tales of the infamous Anakin Skywalker, the Hero with no fear was the best swordsman there was, beating the power-hungry Sheev Palpatine who would have brought endless destruction through the empire he was creating.
Ben grew up wanting to be like his mother and father. Throughout the years he observed his mother through her diplomacy, kindness, and sharp wit. Ben would go with his father all across the kingdom, overseeing the lands, villages, and the wellbeing of the people. At a young age, Ben was taught how to use a crossbow with the help of Han's best friend, Chewie.
For three decades, there was peace, until one afternoon at the beginning of Spring. In the Palace's council room, Leia received a letter, recognizing the fast and sloppy handwriting to be her husband's. She closed her eyes and fell in her chair.
"My Queen!"
"What is it?"
"Are you okay?"
Voices rang in the room, but Leia did not hear. She opened her eyes and told her advisors, "There has been an ambush on Han and others." She looked to her brother, Luke, a former monk and healer for the Palace. "Please tell Ben," she said in a hoarse tone.
Luke knocked on Ben's door, then opened the door revealing his nephew practicing his calligraphy. He looked up in concern. "What is it, Uncle?"
Luke sighed in disbelief. "Your father and others were ambushed in the outskirts of Naboo. It seems they were lured in that area by House Palpatine."
"How could that be? Palpatine is dead," Ben said with furrowed brows.
Luke nodded. "Yes, but the ashes of what Palpatine tried to achieve—his army, lives on. They're calling themselves the New Empire and they are rising in numbers, threatening to have revenge and destroy peace as we know it!" Luke sat across from Ben, staring at his calligraphy.
Ben tossed his quill, stood up, and walked to his large window, overlooking the grounds. He had his hands in front of him. His stance reminded Luke of his father, Anakin. "Where is my father?" Ben asked.
Luke sighed again, unsure of how to respond. "We're assuming they're on their way back. He was able to write a letter and give it a fast riding messenger so..."
Ben didn't respond. He continued to look out at the lush greenery in front of him. His expression said everything he couldn't. His eyes were watery, his mouth moving to one side then to the other, then partially open, unable to say anything.
Later that evening, the gates to the Palace were abruptly opened, letting in a badly wounded Han, Chewie, and others. Ben was dressing into a white tunic and black trousers when he received word that all the attackers were dead and his father had returned home. Ben ran down the hallway and two flights of stairs to the great hall. He helped take his father to his parent's chambers, with Leia walking at their side.
Han was placed on the large bed. His eyes were closed; he was barely breathing. Luke attended to Han first, felt his pulse, and put his hand on his blood-stained forehead. He looked at Leia and shook his head. Luke left Ben and Leia alone with Han and attended to the others.
"Han, darling? Please, wake up." Leia said softly. She held on to one hand, sitting on the bed with her husband. Ben held his father's other hand on Han's other side, his knees on the floor.
Hearing Leia's voice, Han opened his eyes slowly. "Sweetheart," he whispered. He and Leia shared a knowing look as she pressed her lips to his ever so softly. "It wasn't all bad, was it?" Han tried to smile.
"It was better," she assured him, laying her head near his.
Ben gazed at his parents in awe, wanting to leave so they had their last moments together, but he too wanted to say goodbye. "Dad," he whispered, gently squeezing his hand.
Han turned and tried harder to smile. "Kid," he said lovingly. He squeezed his son's hand back.
Ben's eyes were glassy. "Dad, I—"
"I know." Han gave his son one last half-smile before he looked at Leia, taking his last breath and closing his eyes, in peace.
Leia's guarded face she wore well as Queen crumpled into despair as she leaned into her husband, holding him. "Han," she said in a raspy tone.
Ben felt the loss of warmth from his father's hand almost instantly. He carefully guided his hand with his other, on top of his mother's. He went around the bed, sat near his mother, looking at his parents together one last time. Tears started to stream down his cheek.
The next evening funeral pyres were set up for Han and others that didn't make it through the night. Chewie, the beloved family friend, was gravely wounded but would take time to recuperate Luke thought.
Feet away from Han's pyre were Leia, Luke, Padme, and Ben. Everyone was dressed in black cloth and each held a torch. Leia closed her eyes, seeing Han's smile hearing him call her, "Princess." She opened her eyes, looked at her family, nodded, and they each set their torches at the bottom of a pyre. Leia put her hand over Han's one last time before setting her torch at the base. She stepped away and instantly felt Ben's hand holding hers. She leaned into him as he held her close.
The same night in the village of Jakuu, the young woman known as the Scavenger wrapped herself with one blanket, laying her head on a pile of hay, looking up at the night sky filled with stars. She felt great sorrow but did not know why. She reached next to her and felt for her sword with the unique jeweled hilt. Once she felt it, she sighed with relief, hoping the next day would be better than the last.
Leia sat at the head of the table, listening to her different advisors about the recent man that defected from the New Empire. They heard this man's—Finn's story from himself just an hour ago. His knowledge of the New Empire was valuable, revealing that the Supreme Leader was a young man named Armitage Hux and with his father's help he was able to rebuild a vast army to take down kingdoms, steal infants and children from villages and brainwash them to be soldiers. Finn was one of those children that will never know his real family. This plan of revenge for House Palpatine has been in motion for years, in unknown areas that are months away travel from Naboo and neighboring Kingdoms. Finn was a part of a group that was looking for young children and babies to steal. He knew that the big Army was weeks away from striking. The ones that ambushed Han and his group he figured were scouting the kingdoms, before reporting back to the New Empire.
"I believe what Finn was saying," Ben said. Others nodded in agreement. "We have received word now that the army is getting closer to our neighbors and us. We have to make sure we have all the help we can muster—"
"I found it!" Luke yelled, entering the room with everyone staring at him with looks of confusion.
"Luke?" Leia asked, needing to know what he found.
Luke stood next to Leia's chair and placed a vintage scroll in front of her. "I had not read this prophecy for decades but knew it was still out there once we heard about the New Empire Army and it took me a while to find it, but here it is."
Leia opened the scroll and read out loud, "Where two are one of spirit, will be the time Mortis is seen, at last, with refined sight. Believe and follow the ones with blue wings that will lead where two suns meet and they will see dragons from old flying above and will help against a regime, when in need." She finished reading and set down the scroll.
"Mortis?"
"Dragons? I thought they were a myth?"
"No one has seen dragons for centuries, my Queen.
"Prophecies are dangerous to depend upon."
Loud voices were talking over each other and all Leia had to do was raise her hand and the squabbling ceased. She handed the scroll to Ben.
He picked it up and at once felt a certain energy in his fingers. He didn't know why. He furrowed his brow, reading the scroll. Since he was a boy, he had read myths about Mortis and dragons. What if he wondered. He looked at his mother who was staring at him, with a knowing look. He knew she believed and he trusted her judgment.
In the Queen's outside courtyard, Leia, Padme, Ben, and Luke sat around a wood table eating their supper.
"I remember this prophecy when I was a little girl. I believe it to be true," Padme said.
"Why didn't father ever look for this place—Mortis?" Leia asked.
Padme, in her exquisitely designed black dress for mourning, leaned back in her chair. "House Palpatine and their army were not as big and Ani—" She smiled, letting his nickname slip out, which she did once in a while. "Your father wasn't sure this prophecy pertained to him." She shrugged. She looked at Ben. "You, my boy, I know what you're thinking and I agree."
Ben finished eating a boiled potato, put down his fork, and nodded at his grandmother. "I will leave tomorrow."
"You're going alone? I can't let you do that Ben—" Leia started to say.
"Mother, I think with the skepticism from the council, we shouldn't tell many of this plan. We can't let the enemy know of this prophecy, whether it is true or not, but I think...I believe it." He stopped and looked at his mother, "The New Empire is threatening to strike anytime. I need to get to Mortis as soon as possible. I will ride out this evening."
Luke nodded. "You should take that soldier that defected. He might know where other armies are along your journey."
Leia agreed. "You will take him, Poe, Rose, and a few soldiers for protection, okay?"
Ben nodded. Padme patted her grandson's hand with assurance. "The question is, which way will you go?"
"Ben has always had good instincts. If he believes, he will start to see certain wings," Leia said with a nod.
Ben shared a smile with his mother, knowing he was meant to do this. He believed it.
"Kylo?" Ben looked ahead. "Kylo?" "Kylo! Hey...Prince," Rose whispered as she brought her horse to walk along with Ben's.
Ben looked at Rose with an apologetic expression. "Sorry, Rose. I suppose an alias name is something to get used to."
"What does Kylo stand for, anyway? It seems pretty unique."
Ben nodded. "I combined both of my last names, Solo and Skywalker."
Rose raised her brows and grinned. "Clever." She adjusted her cape then asked, "It's been a couple of days since we left—You haven't seen another one of those butterflies?"
Ben shook his head. "That sole one, the evening we left, that nobody else apparently can see but me, was it." He looked around at the sparsely wooded area around them as they kept progressing on this path. "We're heading towards the graveyard—Jakku," Ben noted.
"Indeed." She looked at the empty fields of banners and rusted machinery. "It's near dusk. Should we set up camp in Jakku?" she asked, with distaste.
"We're going to have to." Ben sighed, not wanting to sleep where so many perished but they would have to, just for the night.
"I'll go tell the others." Rose rode with her horse a few yards back to Finn, Poe, and the few soldiers.
The sun had just started to set as Poe and another soldier prepared food. Finn and Rose were sitting next to each other by the campfire. They were in an area where few dry trees and bushes were surrounding them. It looked like the best spot in the whole village. Ben was feet away, sitting on a rock, looking up at the stars. He took off his dark cape and used it as a pillow, slowly closing his eyes.
A minute later he felt the tip of a sword barely touch his neck, along with, "Who are you?" Ben opened his eyes and saw a young woman standing over him, in trousers and a fitted top, both sand-colored. She wore her hair in a triple bun hairstyle. She looked at him with a fierce expression and the first thought that came to his mind was that she was beautiful, even with a blade at his throat.
"Sir!"
"Kylo!" Poe yelled out as he and others drew their swords.
Ben lifted his hand like his mother would do to stop their actions. "Good evening, my lady." He stared at the young woman and saw she had lovely hazel eyes. There was something about her that captivated him; he couldn't understand it.
"Your name is Kylo?" The girl asked, this time in a gentler tone. She started to lower her weapon.
For some reason, he couldn't lie to her and he wouldn't. "My name is Ben and I'm from House Skywalker."
"You shouldn't say your name...Sire. She could be a spy!" Poe said in frustration.
Ben shook his head. "No, I don't believe she is. Please, all of you put down your weapons." The soldiers, Poe, Finn, and Rose lowered their swords but continued to stare at the two of them.
The young woman's eyes enlarged as she immediately put down her sword and said, "You're Royalty. I apologize--I shouldn't have—"
"It's fine."
"It's just this is the area I usually reside for the night." She fidgeted with her hands in front of her.
Ben furrowed his brow, looking around the area, again. "You sleep on a rock?" He looked at her in confusion.
The woman looked anywhere but at him, feeling her cheeks warm up.
Ben immediately regretted his words. "I didn't mean anything by it." He changed the course of their conversation. "May I ask, what is your name?"
She looked back at him and raised her chin. "I'm Rey."
"What house are you from?"
"I..." Rey hesitated but truthfully said, "The house of nobody." She wasn't ashamed she came from nothing. "I don't have any family--It's just me."
Ben looked at her with compassion. "You've lived by yourself."
"Ever since I can remember." Rey pointed towards the graveyard where the battle took place decades ago. They could view the sight from the rock they were both on. "Collecting from the old is how I survive." She gave him a hopeful look. "But, I'll make enough coin to leave this place, someday." She said with a small smile. She believed it.
Ben was moved by her story. He looked down then up and saw she was staring past his shoulder. He looked behind him and saw them. This time, two blue-colored butterflies swarmed around each other and moved farther away toward the pathway, fluttering about. He looked back to Rey and saw her head tilt in question. "You see them?" He asked, breathing fast.
"The blue butterflies? Yes," she said, almost in a daze, as she continued to stare at them. "It's something I've never seen before. It feels...magical," she said at last. She finally looked at Ben. "Doesn't it feel like that?"
Ben nodded. He was glad he had someone to share this with. "It seems nobody can see them, but us."
Rey looked down at the others and saw they were still looking at her. She saw the two butterflies were swarming around them but they made no movement or gave any recognition they saw them. "You're right." She looked back at Ben, amazed. "Whoa! What does this mean?"
Ben, feeling more hope now than when he started this journey, gave Rey a half-smile. "I'll fill you in on everything, Rey."
The next morning, Rey rode on a gray horse, next to Ben's, similar in color. Two soldiers rode ahead of them. Rey looked back and saw Finn, Poe, and Rose riding together and talking amongst themselves, smiling and laughing. She smiled at them before looking back at Ben more closely in the light, seeing his dark locks and strong nose, his lips--He caught her stare and she felt her cheeks warm again. She looked away with a small smile. He gulped before asking, "How does it feel to finally be away from Jakku?"
"A relief." She made sure the dark gray cape Rose had given her was on correctly before continuing. "I've always wanted to go on an adventure but seeking dragons of old is much more than I expected."
Ben nodded. "I feel the same."
They rode on a path near the sea, into the village of Ahch-To. All around them were green-leaved trees, rocky terrain, and green grass. They rode higher and higher up a hill.
By sunset, they made camp. As Finn and Poe prepared the supper, Rose and Rey sparred enthusiastically.
Rose put her arm up and saw Rey put down her sword. They both had to catch their breath. "You're excellent, Rey! Who taught you to fight?"
"Me."
"Amazing." Rose drank water from her flask then offered it to Rey.
"Thank you," Rey whispered as she drank the cool water, feeling instantly refreshed.
"How about you and I practice, Rey?" She turned around and saw Ben with his well fitted black trousers, without a tunic. She starred at his well-defined naked torso and saw his skin was wet, as was his hair.
She licked her lips without meaning to before looking down, feeling flustered. "Shouldn't you wear a tunic or something?"
Ben shook his head. "Nah, this is how I usually train. Come on," he said, raising his long sword.
Rey nodded and raised hers and they sparred, moving together in sync as if they practiced these movements before. Minutes later they both yielded, out of breath, looking at each other, with intense stares. Rey stared at his torso again and saw it glisten with sweat. She wondered for a few seconds what it would be like to run her fingers across his chest and touch--She shook her head, trying to rid her absurd thoughts. She sighed, looking back at Ben and saw his look of awe and amazement, towards her. It made her feel butterflies in her stomach.
Later, as the other slept, Rey and Ben were near the smoldering campfire, inches apart, sitting next to each other, looking up at the stars. "It's a beautiful evening," Rey remarked.
"It is." Ben looked at Rey's sword hilt again, viewing the jewels. "Can I ask where you received that sword?"
She grabbed her sword and handed it to Ben. He looked at it more closely. Rey said all she knew about it. "Years ago, I saw it covered by shields and dirt and kept it with me ever since."
"If you had sold it, you would have made enough coin to leave Jakku ages ago."
Rey shrugged. "Yes, but for some reason, I wanted to keep this for myself. I don’t know why. It's like it called to me." She scoffed. "You might think me foolish."
"No." He ran his fingers over the hilt. He had heard tales of this sword and seeing it in person was a majestic sight. "After my grandfather defeated Palpatine, he came across one of his followers, Dooku, and that man fought with everything he had. He even cut off my grandfather's arm that carried the sword." He looked at Rey's astonished face. "If it wasn't for his best friend, Kenobi, he would have died on the battlefield." Ben looked at the sword again, feeling the hilt. "They never found his sword." He handed it back to Rey. "It seems that it was found by the right person, though."
Rey's eyes widened, looking at her sword. "This is your grandfather's?!"
Ben smiled slowly and put his hand over hers. They both felt a warmth and energy, as they stared at one another, intently. "It was and belongs to you."
"Thank you, Ben." She interlocked her fingers with his. Ben stared at their hands and felt at ease, smiling at this closeness, with the fire in front of them. It was—
All of a sudden, there moment of intimacy was interrupted, by screams and men in guarded armor, running towards the camp, with weapons raised.
"First Empire! First Empire!" They chanted as they ran. "For our Supreme Leader!"
The fire and moonlight was their only light as Rey and Ben raised their weapons and fought with all their might. Dozens of soldiers ran towards them.
Poe, Finn, Rose, and the Naboo soldiers woke up, alarmed, but grabbed their weapons and fought with ease against the First Empire soldiers.
Rey and Ben were back to back, fighting each soldier with expertise, seeing the soldiers lacked skill. Rey looked back and ran her sword through a soldier's gut, who was prepared to strike at Ben. Ben nodded at Rey and fought with fierce strength. At one point, Rey felt for Ben's thigh, using his bent back for leverage, and with her foot pushed a soldier in the stomach, knocking him down hard. Ben gulped but shook his head and kept his mind on fighting the enemy.
A voice rang out, "I see we have the mighty Prince Ben of House Skywalker. Wonderful, indeed." A man with red hair and in black attire, had his arms behind his back, looking at the battle before him.
"Don't let him distract you, Ben!" Rey yelled as she and he got separated and were fighting by themselves against two and three soldiers at a time.
Ben kept his mind on the enemies before him, took a few seconds to strategize, but then heard Rey yell out in pain. He looked ahead and saw a sword pierce and scar her right arm. He needed to get to her but had to defeat these soldiers first. He took a deep breath and fought brutally, piercing his sword through a stomach, punching a man in the face as he swung his other hand with the sword, decapitating. "Ahh!" He yelled, fighting others coming towards him.
"Kill, Prince Ben!" The man with ginger hair yelled. "Bring his head to me, your Supreme Leader, now!"
Armitage Hux Ben thought as he easily killed another solider in the heart. The Supreme Leader was just yards away. He figured he could reach him.
"And bring the traitor to me!" Hux said with menace.
Finn, fighting his own, looked at Hux, sneered at his former tormenter, and continued to fight alongside Rose and Poe.
Rey gave all her strength but with that pierce to her arm, she made sure not to be weakened by it. "Ahh!" She yelled as she swung at two soldiers. They were moving towards a large circular area, filled with moss all around. Rey ran towards it, looking down and seeing water below. It looked like a cave in there. Before she could look further she turned and stabbed a soldier, seeing more come her way. She saw Ben, still fighting. For one second their eyes met until Rey felt a blow to her head and she fell into the hole. The last thing she recalled was hearing Ben call her name, as her eyes closed, hitting the freezing water.
Hux and a couple of soldiers looked down the hole and smiled. The sound of fighting could still be heard in the background. They had their backs to the battle.
One soldier pointed down the hole. "Supreme Leader, do you want us to go find the Prince?"
Hux shook his head. "No. That fall killed him. I know it. Just kill—" He stopped as he felt a stab to his back. His eyes were wide with shock as he heard in his ear. "Your senseless bloodshed ends now."
In the dark cave, Ben gently retrieved Rey from the icy waters. He placed her on the rocky ground, in front of what looked like a mirror. "Rey?" He shivered, feeling the effects of the water. He felt for her pulse at her wrist and neck; it was weak but there. Like him, they needed to be warm. He knew what he had to do and hopefully it would help both of them. He took off his clothes quickly and hers. He looked away from her intimate parts and just focused on getting her warm, pulling her to him. Her hair, loose from her buns, was placed over her shoulder as he rubbed her back and arms, making sure she was receiving warmth. He pulled her close and laid his head near hers, closing his eyes.
A while later, Rey opened her eyes and instead of the cold, she thought she would feel, she felt incredible soothing warmth. She moaned and especially felt the warmth behind her. She then realized she wasn't wearing clothing. Her eyes widened as she saw her bare breasts stomach, and... She gulped as she turned and saw Ben sleeping. She then knew what he did and was grateful to him. He kept them both alive. She felt her breasts touch his strong chest. She liked the feeling as she finally ran her fingers through his dark locks, tracing a finger down his nose, to his full lips and strong chin. The gentle tickle of her finger woke him.
"You're awake," Ben whispered as he slowly opened his eyes.
"You saved us."
Ben put his arm around Rey's waist, pulling her close. "We've known each other for such a short while but that's just enough to know that..."
Rey raised a brow and asked, "Know what?"
"I love you, Rey." He stared into her eyes, not caring if she said it back. He wanted her to know of his true feelings towards her.
Rey felt a certain warmth in her heart as a single tear rain down her right cheek. She felt a happiness she thought she would never feel as she said, with all her heart. "Ben, I love you, too." She leaned forward, their lips inches from touching, and in a second she touched her lips with his, feeling an intimacy she had never felt in all her life. She felt him respond and she smiled against his lips, kissing him deeper.
Ben pulled Rey to be on top of him, breaking their kiss. He looked up and saw the woman he was in love with and he sighed in relief as she leaned down and kissed him again. He caressed her scar on her arm and felt a part of him awaken and she must have felt it as well as she looked at him intently with her hazel eyes and breathed just as hard as he was. She kissed him again and again. He rubbed her back lovingly as he felt they instantly became one, moaning together, their breaths mingled as they continued to share their love, together.
Later, dressed back in their clothing, Rey and Ben held hands, their swords held by their free hands, as they followed more blue butterflies through the cave, toward the opening revealing a beach.
"We made it out, Ben!" She squeezed his hand and felt him squeeze back. He looked at her, with a gentle smile, leaning down and kissing her soft lips. They were heavenly. She smiled and caressed his cheek.
They both looked around and together saw others running towards them.
"Do you see—" He started to say.
"Yes, I see—Rose and—" They walked in their direction. "Poe, Finn, and the New Empire soldiers?" She turned to Ben and gave him a quizzical look.
Ben's brows furrowed, knowing Poe and Rose wouldn't betray him and Naboo.
Rose had her arms raised as she hugged Rey, breaking Rey's hold on Ben's hand. "You are both safe!" She turned to Ben. "We thought we lost you two. We walked back and forth on these shores three times. She looked towards the rocks. "How did you get out?"
Rey pointed towards the entrance that was now covered in rock. "Ben? Do you see what I see?"
Ben nodded, mystified.  He looked towards the water, seeing the gentle waves roll in. He looked back at the crowd coming towards them. "Where's Hux?"
Rose crossed her arms. "Finn killed him and he was amazing." She smiled toward Finn and Poe, as they finally made it to her, Rey, and Ben.
"Finn, I'm grateful for what you did," Ben said with a nod.
Finn nodded towards him and explained, "There are generals just like him, with dark ambition. One of them will be the new Supreme Leader." He turned and put his arm out toward the New Empire soldiers. "After I killed Hux, I called out to the remaining soldiers that they didn't have to keep being brainwashed in fighting a senseless war. They could be better and live a new life," He said that last part as he looked at Poe and Rose with a smile.
"We stopped because what Finn says is right. We're not going to fight for power," a young woman said as she walked a few steps toward Ben. "My name is Jannah, Sire..." She started to bow but stopped once she heard his voice.
"We're in this together, Jannah, and that means equally helping each other." He looked at Rey and saw her smile. He looked back at all the soldiers. "You must all know where we're heading to. We ask that you join us, to help and stop the New Empire. Will you help?"
More soldiers walked behind and beside Jannah. One soldier ripped the cloak that held the New Empire's symbol and he stepped on it, with meaning. Jannah looked around at her friends and said, "We will."
The day passed on as they walked along the shore and that's when Rey and Ben both saw in front of them, more blue butterflies. They followed down the shore until everyone saw the binary suns and nearby were the dragons, flying above, as they just appeared out of nowhere.
Everyone looked in awe, seeing eight dragons, of large size, soar above them, calling out to each other.
"Mortis," Rey whispered. She took Ben's hand in hers and smiled.
Ben squeezed her hand, feeling her squeeze right back, as he continued to look above. "Beautiful," he said, simply.
In minutes, the dragons circled them. Ben and Rey walked toward one that looked dark gray. They raised a hand and the dragon moved forward, it's snout touching their hands. It made a cooing sound. "We'll ride this one," Ben said. He looked at everyone else. "Remember our plan, everyone. See if they will come on our side first but if they attack..."
"The dragons will do the rest," Rey said with a nod. Everyone nodded and cheered.
"Let's do this!" Jannah said to her fellow soldiers.
"We are the spark that will burn down the New Empire," Poe said with determination.
Ben nodded toward his friend as he and Rey easily climbed on their dragon. Everyone else did the same with the remaining dragons, some with four on a back.
"Ready?" Ben whispered in Rey's ear, as she sat before him holding onto the dragon as he had a hand on her stomach, keeping her close to him.
Rey looked back and kissed Ben, their lips moving in sync. She smiled and said, "Ready." Then at once, they were in the air, ready to fight a regime and restore peace for all the lands, and afterward, live happily ever after.

“You want to go first?” Ben asks her, moving out of the way.
“Lets go together.”
“Okay,” Ben says. Rey wants to scream never mind and climb down right now, but Ben is holding a hand out to her before she has a chance to do anything.
So, she takes his hand.

The gang goes on a tree-top course that goes south, real fast. Also, Ben and Rey try to talk. (They get distracted easily though.)

Chapter 4: the torture of the mind to lie in restless ecstasy
-
“Are you sure the line is strong enough to support me?”
“Are you over 500 pounds?”
“No. But, I mean, I had a big breakfast this morning. Like four eggs, at least.”
“Then it will support you just fine.”
Rey grinds her teeth at the exasperated worker, wishing he’d say something just a little more reassuring. She looks across the rickety bridge, seeing Rose and Finn get across with little hardship, just a few missteps here and there. Ben sailed across the bridge like there wasn’t at least of foot of space between each plank; like he wasn’t at least thirty feet off the ground; like it was nothing.
If it could hold Ben, then surly it could hold her.
Rey takes a tentative first step, holding onto her glider for dear life. Hoots and hollers below her  come from Poe and Jannah, but she tries to tune them out and focus ahead of her. Each step is more unstable than the last, and when she makes it more than half way there, she sprints ahead, just to get to the solid base at the next tree.
“Oh my gosh, Rey! How did you run? I can barely move my legs more than one plank a minute,” Rose says.
“Sheer force of will and a very good survival instinct. Being on solid wood is better than… not.” She looks at the next course and sees small pegs, almost the size of one foot, stretching across to the next base. A gasp escapes her lips before she can stop it.
Finn is already halfway there, being coached by Ben, who stayed behind so he wouldn’t wobble the pegs further.
“The next one is a little further away, so just spring forward a little bit more,” Ben yells. Finn has a death grip on his glider, so much so that Rey can see the whites of his knuckles from here. Its a good five minutes before Finn reaches the next tree and the mocking jeers of her friends below her do nothing to calm her fear.
Rose goes next, deciding that Ben did a good enough job coaching Finn and deciding she needs that same support going forward. Rose does not account for the fact that Finn is a big scaredy cat and required a lot more input than she does.
“How are you so good at this? Are you secretly Tarzan, swinging from trees instead of going to a traditional gym?” Rey asks Ben. He laughs at her, but keeps his eye on Rose.
“Guess I’m just used to this more than you, city slicker.” Ben taunts Rey with the same endearment from yesterday. Rey just rolls her eyes, figuring insulting the person who will be coaching her through the rest of this course would not be of the wisest decisions. God knows she needs to make a few more of those.
“I used to climb these trees when I was a kid, so I guess it’s just engrained in my psyche to not be afraid of it,” Ben shrugs. Rey’s eyes snap up to him. Ben never willingly talks about his childhood. He usually has to be at minimum four bottles of wine deep before he even brings up events that happen prior to him turning 21, so Rey is shocked to hear this information.
“These tree? Like in Chandrila?”
Ben nods. “This used to be a camp ground. Han, Chewie, and I would stay further towards the lake, but it’s a real possibility that I actually climbed these exact trees, like twenty years ago.”
The admission feels very intimate and Rey’s throat goes dry thinking about that. Images of a ten-year-old Ben, with big ears and braces, climbing trees while Han watches on, probably trying to freak him out more than help him, flashes in her mind. She bites her lip from saying something stupid and ruining the moment, instead just letting out a soft “Oh.”
“I made it!” Rose screams when her foot touches the base, and Finn scrambles to pull her fully on it, to safety.
“You want to go first?” Ben asks her, moving out of the way.
“Lets go together.”
So much for not saying anything stupid, she thinks.
“Okay,” Ben says, hooking on their gliders together. Rey wants to scream never mind and climb down right now, but Ben is holding a hand out to her before she has a chance to do anything.
So, she takes his hand.
Ben keeps her close, only one peg between them at any given time, one hand wrapped securely around his rope and the other holding onto Rey. Not that it would take much effort on his part. Rey’s hand is clutching his like a vice, like it’s the only thing keeping her tethered to this equipment. It’s warm and calloused from hours of tugging rope and she tries to think of any other time they held hands for that long.
They haven’t before, she realizes, and she’ll be damned if she ever lets go now.
They’re halfway across before Rey’s foot catches one peg the wrong way, making the bridge wobble and sway in a very terrifying fashion, and she calls out Ben’s name without even thinking.
“It’s okay, I’m right here,” He says, staying still for her. Her eyes are looking down at the forrest floor that now looks much, much further away than thirty feel. She can feel herself shutting down, which is not the most helpful of experiences when in the middle of a rope bridge.
Suddenly, she’s eight again, climbing in the junkyard, looking for salvageable parts she can bring to Unkar, at the top of a pile when a marred up television crumbles, making Rey slide down the pile. The cuts and bruises she got lasted months and some of the deeper scars still haunt her skin.
“Rey, look up. Look at me.” She knows she hears Ben talking, but she can’t move a muscle in her body. “Rey, I need you to look at me, please.”
She thinks even when she was eight, the little Ben wouldn’t have let her slip. Her eyes snap up to his and she can feel the reassuring squeeze he gives her hand.
“You’re attached to a safety rope. There is a net beneath us. I’m right here. I will not let you fall.”
If she could move, she would kiss him. Right there. In front of God and her friends. In front of the staff that are waiting for them to be done so they can bring in the next group. On the tree that little Ben climbed.
“Can you go further? Can you let me help you?” He asks and all Rey can manage is a terse nod. They go even slower now, Ben helping her with each step. Her friends are silent and Rey is grateful for small mercies. When they reach the tree, Rey’s knees give out. She stays on her hands and knees, taking deep breaths and trying to shake off the memory.
After a few moments, she feels Ben’s hand on her head, brushing back some hair that had fallen in her face. She can’t bring her eyes up to meet him, ashamed that a little jungle gym made her spiral so far.
“We’re going down now. There’s a ladder right below us. I’m going to go first, okay. Just follow me and we’ll get down.”
“Okay.” Her voice is a whisper, but Ben hears her. She hears him step down the ladder, until his head is the only thing peaking above the wooden base she’s kneeling on. His eyes are impossibly wide with concern and determination and it makes Rey want to cry even more.
“Just follow me, Rey.”
-
The water coming from the faucet is warm, doing nothing to help cool the redness in her cheeks. Rey looks in the dirty, cracked mirror, seeing her eyes still wide with terror, despite being on the ground for a solid twenty minutes. She curses under her breath and stars counting back from 100 again.
“Rey?” She hears Janna’s voice call.
“Yeah?”
“Do you care if I come in?”
Rey just opens the door to the bathroom in response. Jannah’s holding a bottle of water and an energy bar, and Rey takes both happily. They lean on the sink while Rey munches down her snack in silence.
“Feel better?” Jannah asks when Rey’s finished and she nods. She actually does. Leave it to food to cure all the problems in Rey’s life.
“That was… intense, “ Jannah says, looking at Rey gulp down water.
“I’m fine now, honest.” Janna looks like she doesn’t believe her, but she doesn’t press further.
“I thought we’d have to tie Ben to a chair to keep from busting down the door, but Kaydel and I figured you could use a few minutes.” Rey’s heart lurches when she thinks about making Ben distressed.
“Where is he now?” Rey asks, trying to cover the worry in her voice.
“With Hux, by the lake. He needed to cool off too, I think.” Rey nods, happy that there’s someone else looking out for Ben too. “Can I ask you a question?” Jannah asks, making Reys’ stomach drop. She nods.
“Is everything… alright with you? I mean, in your life, right now. You’ve just been so… off this week. We’re all a little concerned.”
Rey still can’t believe she has friends that actually care about her, enough to check on her and bring her snacks. She’d fell much better about it if she wasn’t fucking their trip with her inner demons.
“It’s just been one of those weeks. I’ve felt off, too,” Rey tells her.
“Period?” No, but what the hell.
“Yeah,” Rey says sheepishly. Jannah nods in understanding, then scoops her into a hug. Rey hugs her back with enough force to crush both of their lungs, but doesn’t have the heart to care about that.
-
The ride back to the cabin is actually fine. The whole car is buzzing with the adrenalin from climbing the trees, so Rey’s friends are chatting up a storm without bringing up her episode.
Ben had, in true Ben fashion, been by her side since he spotted her come out of the bathroom. This means that he had to take the unfortunate middle seat, one that a man of 6’3 should absolutely not sit in, but did so without complaint. Their legs are squished together, but Rey wouldn’t have it any other way.
-
The heat from the bonfire was a welcome feel when the sun went down and the forrest got cool. It was a modest fire, despite Poe’s insistence that they build one that rivals the size of the cabin. It was the only illumination, casting a warm glow onto everyone’s faces, sticky with marshmallows that were, in fact, too big.
Everyone had taken a turn trying to give their best campfire story, which ultimately devolved into who could make their friends laugh the most, but Rey didn’t mind. Despite being in unfamiliar territory, she was surrounded by friends who loved and cared for her. Finn and Rose were sitting very closely, inching closer when the other wasn’t looking; Kaydel, Jannah, and Zorii were still roasting marshmallows, mostly just to light the big globs on fire and poke them towards everyone else; Poe and Hux were wrapped tightly together, with Poe passed out on Hux’s shoulder; Phasma was sitting at Rey’s right side, fueling the bonfire with blocks of wood whenever it looked low.
Ben was staunchly seated to Rey’s left, only mere inches away from her, like he had been all day. He didn’t make a fuss of it, just naturally gravitating towards her while doing the most mundane of things; putting up the gear from their trip, chopping up veggies for dinner, ect.
She hadn’t had the opportunity to be alone with him to tell him how nice it was, him being near. She would tell him when they were in their room together. Maybe while lying in bed. Maybe while doing things that were decidedly unfriendly.
She’d woken up once again with Ben wrapped around her like a vice, but they’d been screeched at by Hux, telling everyone to be ready to go quickly. There was no time to discuss what happened last night or the way they woke up this morning, and Rey was slightly relieved.
What would she say to him? ‘Thanks for letting me ride your thigh, now please fuck me into the next millennium and date me and love me and be this close to me always.’ And she’d naively thought they’d have a lot to talk about when they just mutually masturbated together.
There was also something else nagging at the back of her brain. The fact that Ben didn’t tell her until halfway into this trip that he grew up camping here. The small tidbits of info she’d gotten from him only brought more questions to her mind.
There was a lot to be discussed, to say the least.
When the fire dwindles out, and Phasma heads back to her personal cottage, the rest of the gang starts dropping like flies. Before Rey knows it, she and Ben are heading down their staircase, shouting ‘goodnights’ to her fellow cabin-mates. She’d thought about it all night, how she was going to approach this. About a way to casually work into the conversation that she was curious why Ben revealed so much to her just today and not before the trip. But, Rey was Rey, and there was really only so much her head could take.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you came here with your father? Before we got here, I mean.”
Being direct is probably a good thing right now, she thinks belatedly.
Ben had just finished taking his shoes off and looked surprised at her question, but not angry at it, which Rey thought was a win.
“It… didn’t seem important,” He says, slipping off his socks too.
“I think it is important, Ben. I know you don’t have the best relationship with your dad, so I’m sure this trip could be… a lot.”
“It was a long time ago, Rey. I didn’t even realize it until we got here and the roads looks familiar. If I felt like it was too much, I wouldn’t have stayed.”
“Well… okay then. But you’ll tell me if it does get to be too much, right. I can’t have us both being mentally unstable for the rest of the week.” Her attempt to make light of what happened earlier is a cheap shot, only serving to make Ben’s brows furrow.
“You’re not mentally unstable. You just had an anxiety attack. It happens; it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you,” Ben’s tone is comforting and Rey can feel tears prick her eyes again. But she doesn’t want that now. She doesn’t want to be sad around him any more today.
“If you say so,” She relinquishes, turning to go into the bathroom.
Ben is sitting on the edge of the bed, scrolling on his phone when she comes out. He’d changed into his white shirt and boxer shorts (although a different pair than last nights) and Rey suddenly has the urge to ask him what he normally wears to bed. So she does.
“This usually. Why?” He questions.
“I’d feel bad if you slept in the nude and were wearing clothes just for my comfort.”
Rey see’s his throat bob.
“What do you wear to bed? Normally?”
“A t-shirt,” Rey admits, “and underwear, if I have enough that are clean. Sometimes I go without just so I don’t have to do laundry so often.”
His eyes darken and his gaze feels very hot against her skin. She’s wearing an old-giant t-shirt from college with a pair of cotton sleep shorts that barely peak out from under the shirt.
“Oh,” He says, eyes still looking her up and down. “You don’t have to wear shorts if you’re… uncomfortable.”
Without saying word, Rey slowly pushes her shorts down and steps out of them. He can’t see her underwear. Can’t see the damp stain forming on them. But it feels like he can. Ben places his phone on the night stand and Rey decides to be bold and step directly in front of his slightly parted legs. He looks up at her, eyes soft and hungry at the same time. He keeps his body the same, not opening his legs to accommodate her as she wants. After a minute of silent staring, Rey finally finds the will to speak up.
“Will you let me do something for you?”
Ben’s neutral expression doesn’t waiver. “You don’t need to do anything for me.”
“I know,” Rey gently drops to her knees, “but I want to.” Ben’s eyes follow her down, widening when realization crashes over him.
Rey lightly puts her hands on his inner thigh, pushing them apart with little resistance. She can she his growing erection already beginning in his boxers, spurring her on further. She presses light kisses up his thigh, giving him kitten licks too. She works slowly, feeling the muscles tense beneath her lips and being reminded what it felt like against her cunt. When she finally gets to his crotch, she rubs her mouth against him, now straining against the fabric. She presses her tongue flat against him, licking from root to tip in his underwear. She feels him twitch against her lips, seeing a small bead of wetness form.
When she dares to look back up at him, Ben’s eyes are black. He’s breathing heavily, and she can see the muscles in his chest constricting.
“Ben, can I do this for you?” She asks, eyes never leaving his, lips brushing against his cock.
“Please.” His voice is strained, like he’s already on the precipice of orgasm. Rey’s hands go to the waistband of his boxers, and he lifts his hips as she pulls them down and off.
The sight before her is magnificent. Ben’s cock is thick and long, curved up towards his belly. He is flushed all the way to his tip, where a small bead of preccome is dripping onto his white shirt. Rey licks her lips before leaning towards him. Her hand comes up to gently trace a vein with just one finger, and Ben whimpers. It is the most beautiful noise she’s ever heard.
Her hand wraps around him at the base, brushing against the coarse, black hair there. She hears his breath hitch as she beings to pump her fist. She uses her thumb to swipe the drool of precome now dripping down her hands.
Rey slowly moves her head towards him, and when she’s only centimeters from the tip, she looks back up at him and extends her tongue to taste him. The strangled groan that comes deep from within him, sends a rush between her legs, and Rey has to adjust herself so that she can rub her thighs together.
Her licks become bolder, as she begins to follow her hand from where she pumps him. He is painfully hard and throbbing in her grasp, so Rey presses light kisses up his length to sooth him. When she makes it back to the tip, she envelopes him in her mouth, tasting the tangy precome as her mouth works down further.
Rey feels one of his hands shoot up and cradle the back of her head, tangling her hair in his fingers. She’s grateful that she choose to loose the three bun look when she changed into her pajamas, because the tips of his fingers pressing into the base of her skull is heaven.
She moans around him, sinking even further and taking as much of him in her mouth as she can. She feels Ben’s hips twitch, and she knows that she needs to work faster now, for both of their sakes. So, Rey hollows her cheeks as she begins sucking him in earnest, moving up and down and guided by his hand.
Ben is spilling moans and profanities now, head thrown back and exposing his long, pale neck that Rey wants to devour. She quickens her pace further, feeling his whole body tense. She’s involuntary rocking her hips, seeking friction on the back of her calves, but falling short in an infuriating way.
“Rey..” His voice is a whine; desperate and pleading for something he can’t put into words. She moans against him and takes him the furthest she can into her mouth, before he hits the back of her throat. His fingers clench in her hair and she knows he’s trying to control himself right now.
But that’s not what she wants. She wants him to use the immense strength he so clearly has against her. He wants her to loose himself within her. She wants him to destroy her.
“Rey, baby, please…” Ben’s voice is low as he speaks through gritted teeth. “I’m gonna come, baby, I’m gonna come.”
Tears are pricking her eyes once more and she tries to think of a way to tell him ‘yes please! Please come for me, baby’ without taking him out of her mouth. She stares up at him as she sucks up and down his cock, hoping that will convey everything.
He’s looking down at her again, face flushed and body heaving. “Can I come down your throat? Will you let me do that, baby?” Rey nods as best as she can with her face stuffed with his cock. Ben shouts as warm come pulses out of him.
She lets the tip rest on her tongue, and uses her hand to work him through orgasm, letting his come pool on her tongue. It’s tangy and bitter but its Ben, so Rey loves it anyways. She savors the taste, swirling it around her tongue as she gives kitten licks again.
Ben is sweating. His lips are red, like he bit straight through them. His cock is still hard, but she can feel him softening slowly. They stare into each others eyes as she swallows his come.
When Rey sits back on her legs, she feels her throbbing center and involuntarily whimpers at the feeling. Her panties are soaked clean through and she’s very, very tempted to just shove a hand down to her pussy and finish herself off with Ben’s eyes taking her in.
Rey, blessedly, does not get the chance.
Ben picks her off the floor, and pulls her onto the bed, following her with his own body, and covering her. His head is kissing at her stomach, though the t-shirt that dulls the sensation but still makes her cheeks warm. When he gets between her legs, Ben lick a strip, clean up her center through her panties, before ripping them off and shoving his mouth against her cunt.
He licks and laps at her, movement only enhanced by his nose that she can feel against her clit. He leaves messy, open mouthed kisses on her folds before using his tongue to circle her clit. Rey shoves a hand in her mouth to keep from screaming too loud.
His hands grip her thighs and toss them over his broad shoulders so that he can spread her easily. His tongue delves into her, warm and wet and positively sinful. Her hips buck against him with abandon, seeking purchase against his face. His whole face is nuzzled into her, and she’s sure if he looked up at her, she’d she her juices dripping down her face. The thought makes her whole body shake.
“You gonna come for me?” Ben says against her. “You’re gonna come on my face, baby?”
Rey just chants ‘yes!’ and ‘Ben!’ over and over, until her mouth is incapable of forming words. Her orgasm is white-hot as it races down her spine. She feels her thighs tremble and abdomen clench as she uses her free hand to tangle in his silky locks and push his face impossibly harder against her cunt.
Ben works her through it, tongue relentless against her, lapping up at all the fluids nearly pouring out of her now. His plush lips brush against her clit every now and again, making her twitch in overstimulation that is glorious.
They stay that way for a long minute; Ben with his mouth still attached to her pussy and Rey with one hand in his hair and the other still stuffed in her mouth as tears run down her face.
When he starts to pulls back, Rey winces at the contact and he presses a little kiss to the corner of her thing to soothe her. She takes her fist out of her mouth (because, ew, that can’t look nice) and stares up at him.
Ben is still flushed. Rey is sure she is too. They’re both breath deeply, the hint of musk penetrating the air around them. Her heart is hammering in her chest, blood rushing in her ears.  Ben is still looking at her.
He looks at her like she’s water and he’s been in the desert for a week.
Rey doesn’t know what motivates her to do it, but she moves anyways. She pushes herself up and grabs a fistful of his shirt and crashes her lips together. His mouth and chin are with with her, but Rey doesn’t care. If anything, she likes tasting herself on him; it’s like a claim.
Ben’s hands immediately go to wrap around her shoulders, crushing her to him with more force than she thought possible. His lips moves against hers, tongue tangling together as he lets her dominate his mouth. Their noses bump and teeth clash occasionally, but it only makes it that much hotter.
His hands wandered up to her head, cupping her jaw and throat as they kiss. It steadies her as she pressing bruising kisses to him, like she’s trying to crawl within him. She feels her back hit the bed again and the softness of the pillow beneath her, before she realizes he’s laid her down again. Still between her legs as his mouth continues its assault on hers.
The shrill ring of a phone pierces the silence that had previously been accompanied by the wet slap of their lips. Rey tries to turn away from him to see who would be calling him at this time of night, but his lips chase her. Ben clearly has more important things on his mind.
“Ben,” she mumbles against his lips, when he moves to working her jaw. “Ben, we have to see who it is. It could be… an emergency.” Rey’s voice hitches when she feels him nip at the underside of his jaw. Ben’s movements slow against her before he literally growls.
His hand quickly grabs his phone to see who’s calling before letting out an exasperated sigh.
“Fucking Poe,” He mumbles before accepting the call. “What?” His voice is sharp in annoyance and Rey can’t help but chuckle at that. She hears something like screaming happening from the phone and suddenly becomes very worried, before Ben lets out a sigh.
“Fix the rooms’ A/C yourself.” More shouting happens on the other end and Rey can make out a high-pitched whine. Ben’s head drops to her chest, where his black hair fans out around him.
“I’ll be there in a minute,” Ben grumbles against her t-shirt before ending the call.
Rey pushes a lock of hair behind his ear and trails her fingertips on the back of his neck, causing him to shudder. Ben abruptly pushes up and back on his legs, still red-faced and a bit angry.
“I have to go fix Hux and Poe’s A/C,” He tells her, with barely contained distain.
“Okay,” She breaths, not able to form more complex sentences at the moment. She wants to say ‘let those two deal with it themselves and kiss me again before I loose my damn mind,’ but that’s certainly out of the question.
“Stay right here. Don’t fall asleep.” Ben says as he removes himself from the bed. Ben gives her a pointed look that makes her insides clench. Rey already misses he weigh on her.
“I won’t,” She vows. Ben takes a long look at her, seemingly contemplating with himself whether or not just to say ‘fuck it’ and crawl back on her. But he doesn’t. With another growl, Ben is out the door and stomping up the stair.
Rey is asleep before he reaches the top.

CHAPTER III
Rey remembered attacking Kylo with all herself, animated by a dull anger, until then, she didn't know she was feeling. Sometimes her vision blurred, while in her mind images of workouts she had spied on boy 's head swirled when they had joined hands on Anch - To, and now her body repeated these moves diligently and precisely. Nonetheless, Kylo dodged her shots with calm, dexterity and precision. A couple of times, Rey had blocked Kylo's lightsaber by raising one hand and using Force, but he had twisted her move against her, blocking her lightsaber. Clash had continued in that way, until a strong pain had flooded Rey's brain throwing her on the ground in excruciating spasms. Rolling on the ground with her head in her hands, she had had time to notice  Kylo was in same condition, before someone lifted her up and took her away. Rey had seen her other companions throw themselves on Kylo, immobilize him and tie his wrists with anti - Force handcuffs. - Where did you get those?- Rey had heard herself babbling before she passed out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rey had woken up the next day, lying in her quarters bed. Sitting up, she had looked around until her eyes had fallen on tray covered with a white napkin, resting on bedside table next to bed. Raising cloth, Rey had found several dishes, a bottle of water and a glass with pills next to it. She had shaken her head annoyed. She felt groggy and didn't like it. Raising a hand to her head, Rey had inhaled deeply, until he calmed down and concentrated. Images of clash of last night had infiltrated nebulous blankets occupied her brain, until they became increasingly clear. Kylo Ren! They had caught him! How had they succeeded? Had they really taken it? Rey had expanded her senses and jumped as her eyes filled with tears. Leia's pain had overwhelmed her like a Tsunami. Rey had placed a hand on her chest as her breathing became labored. Swiftly swallowing pills on tray and opening water, to attach herself to the bottle, swallowing enough water to knock them down, Rey had jumped out of bed and rushed to General Organa's door. - Leia! - Rey had run into room, throwing herself at woman's neck, sitting at table in her room, her eyes closed, one hand resting on her forehead. Leia had barely had time to lift her head, open her eyes and turn to side where girl was, before finding Rey in her arms. Old woman had held Rey tight. -…it's true? Is... is he here? - Rey asked hesitantly.
Pain she read in Leia's eyes was impressive. Princess had nodded, silent and sad. Crouching in front of her, Rey had taken woman's hands in her own, looking at her sympathetically. -Where is he now? -  She asked sweetly. - In anti - Force cell, below us. He didn't want to meet me - Leia had sighed tiredly. -All right. He will want to meet me then - clutching Leia's hands once again, Rey had stood up, heading for exit. A step away from door, Rey had stopped, turning to Leia. - Since do we have anti - Force tools? - She asked, frowning thoughtfully. Leia had shrugged. -I don't know about handcuffs. As for anti-Force cell... Luke had built it for safety. Emperor and our father were dead, but nobody assured us there were no survivors or crazy cells... not to mention someone could always fall on the Dark Side... - Leia's voice had cracked, while she had lowered her shiny eyes on hands she held in her lap.
Rey had nodded, smiling.
- Rest, General Organa. I'll take care of rest - Rey had brought an outstretched hand to her temple, slamming her heels before going out. Leia had reacted to hoax with a faint smile and Rey had nodded. Girl had just left room, when a excruciating pain had caused her to crouch on the ground, her mouth distorted in a grimace of pain, without being able to make a sound. Rey had brought both hands to her chest, closing her eyes and tightening her eyelids, waiting for pain to pass. Someone was torturing Kylo Ren and Leia didn't have to know. Woman was too much sad and Rey feared she wouldn’t stand news. As soon as pain had passed, Rey had run to underground prisons. He was in first cell. Rey had widened her eyes in horror at seeing scene appeared before her. C3PO ran from one side of cell to other like a hen, shaking his head and murmuring in agitation what they had done. R2 - D2 turned his head left and right, following C3PO movements. Poe and Finn were standing in front of Kylo, hanging by arms on ceiling thanks to a pair of long and massive chains. Kylo's wrists were tight in thick, narrow iron rings, his head dangled on left side, his long, wavy black hair covered half his face, like a black wing of a crow, his eyes were closed, his skin shone with sweat. Rey's eyes had moved to new Supreme Leader’s cheast, where she had also felt pain. Young woman had jumped. A deep diagonal wound ripped through man's skin. Blood rivulet ran down his skin, smearing belt of his black leather pants and dripping on the floor beneath him. Rey had felt her breathing gasp as she frantically looked around. Eventually she had noticed Finn was holding a long bloody blade in his hand. Acting instinctively, Rey had reached out to cell lock, trying to blow it up using Force. Not only had nothing happened, but a kind of invisible electric shock had hit her palm, causing her to withdraw and scream. These movements had attracted two adventure companions attention . Finn and Poe both turned their heads towards her. - R-Rey ... - Finn stammered, widening his eyes and tightening even more blade he held in his hand. Rey had noticed beige linen shirt worn by man was stained with blood splashes, her friend was breathing heavily and his pupils were dilated. Poe wasn’t in better shape and he had stared at her as if a horn had come out in her forehead. - What are you doing here?- Poe had asked, genuinely surprised to see her in prisons. -Let me in!- Rey had roared. - Now! - She added, narrowing her eyes trying to influence them. - Are you crazy? Were you really trying to manipulate us? Do you remember this area is anti - Force and then... were you doing it for HIM? - Poe had finished, in a scandalized tone, blinking, pointing to Kylo with his thumb, but staring at her. R2-D2 had rushed to Rey's aid, opening cell door. Rey had come in like a tornado. In silence, she had run her eyes over Kylo's hung and exhausted figure. Planting her feet on the ground, legs spread and chest out, Rey had turned to Finn and Poe. -You are mad! Since do we torture people? We must be better than them! - Rey had thundered. -You can't blame us! Kylo has hurt us all! Poe was tortured, I was seriously injured, you ... - Finn reacted animatedly, gesturing furiously.
Rey was surprised.
- Fortunately you aren’t Force sensitive, otherwise ... - Rey had murmured, becoming sad to see her friend in those conditions. Finn's neck veins had swelled, his face was red, his eyes out of his sockets. Rey had a pang in heart when she saw her friend, usually sweet and cheerful, overwhelmed with anger and hatred. This was also Kylo’s fault, of his decision not to end war and First Order. -If he had been Force sensitive, today he would surely have fallen into Dark Side... - Kylo's tired voice had a cavernous and sarcastic tone.
Poe moved threateningly towards him.
- Shut up, damn you! - Pilot had shouted.
Rey stood in front of him, with open arms, blocking him.
- That's enough! He just wants to provoke us! Come back, I think about it - she said firmly.
Rey had half-closed her mouth, with a surprised expression when she saw two men move an inch, staring at her suspiciously.
- Kylo said you have helped him to kill Snoke and you became his ally... - Poe explained, answering her silent question. -That's why I hit him. I know I didn't have to do it, sorry, but I'm tired of his lies! Especially when it concerns you. I thought he just wanted to muddy you, but now you're defending him ... - Finn had spoken ardently, going out on the end, as if he were disappointed by Rey's behavior.
Girl had staggered for a moment to hear Kylo had revealed some of truth so easily, most likely to hurt her friends and undermine her relationship with them. Rey could feel Kylo's lips curl into a satisfied, malicious smile. Her eyes had filled with tears, but she had pushed them back. Sighing deeply, Rey had lowered her arms, relaxing. - I'm defending you ... us - she corrected herself, shaking her head. - I don't like seeing you in these conditions. You aren’t these. Don't let him win, please!- Rey had taken Finn's hands in her own. At that sight, Kylo had made a threatening, snarling sound. Poe had sighed.
- Okay, as you like, but if he does something ... - - Don’t worry. Poe ... General Organa isn’t very well - Rey had informed him, spying out of her eye corner Kylo Ren’s reaction. Suddenly, Supreme Leader had fallen silent and darkened. -R2 -D2 go with him. Leia may need you. Finn - Rey had grabbed her friend’s arm, stopping him. He had turned his sweaty face towards her, staring at her with a serious expression. - Calm down and rest - Rey had lightly squeezed his arm, Finn nodding, had left cell. - ... what about me, Miss Rey? What should I do? - C3PO had intervened.
Rey smiled kindly.
- Come here, help me get he down - Rey had stood on tiptoe, fumbling until an iron ring was released, while C3PO had thought of the other. Kylo had fallen dead on her, threatening to make her fall to the ground. -It seems you have hidden various things from your friends... this is also a Jedi thing, you know? - Kylo had whispered in her ear.
Rey bit her lower lip, refraining from screaming. C3PO had run to help her, taking Kylo by arm and passing it around his robotic neck. Rey had done same with other, transporting Kylo to a corner and letting him go on an old moldy mattress. -Fault of all this is yours, you could have ended war, but you didn't - Rey had hissed between her teeth, with flashing eyes. Kylo had laughed bitterly - Of course, as usual. You have no faults, do you? You could killed me. It would have been easy, I was passed out... you knew choice I had made, but you didn't. You got caught up in sentimentality... Luke, great Jedi hero and master, would have killed me without even thinking about it. Did you tell your friends you saved my life? I think they would have something to say about it ... - Kylo had spoken sharply, though weakened. By end of his speech, Rey's breathing had become labored and this time she had been unable to hold back tears that had started to run free along her cheeks. She had got up and ran away. Kylo's blood had started to boil in fury as he followed Rey's thin, nimble figure with his eyes. For a moment his attention had been drawn to something else. Kylo had inspected place by making his eyes dance between his half-closed eyelids, but it was difficult to focus wounded in way, with cell interference. He had turned on his side, falling into a kind of doze until, through Force, he had heard Rey return to him. She seemed to have recovered and eaten. Rey senses were clear and he had had no difficulty communicating mentally with her. Kylo was surprised when she started to medicate him silently until she decided to drop bomb - What are you doing here? Why did you get caught ... Kylo? -

Ben slowly stirred, shifting as a repetitive pressure in his side started to annoy him. "Poke me once more and see what happens," he grumbled into his pillow.
"Okay, tough guy," a lightly accented voice murmured before jabbing him again.
"Scavenger," he said affectionately, blindly reaching for Rey's lithe form.
She allowed him to pull her next to him, laughing as he pinched her pert bottom. "I borrow parts from the shop one time and—"
"Borrowed?" he interrupted, turning over to face her.
"Fine," she sighed in mock exasperation, "stole, but that doesn't change the fact that I made some much-needed improvements to Master Luke's ship."
Ben snorted, trailing a hand up her body to push a few errant strands of hair behind her ear, "I still remember the look on Luke's face when we found you knee deep in engine parts."
"He was so mad," Rey grinned, taking his hand and bringing it to her lips, "but you took the blame, like always. My hero."
Ben's heart felt full to bursting. "Do you honestly see me that way? As a hero?"
She leaned closer, rubbing her nose against his. "Yes."
All his doubts seemed silly now, when only a couple hours before he'd been sure about them. But Rey didn't see him as a monster or a descendant of the mighty Skywalker bloodline, she just saw him. "I love you," he said softly, cuddling her closer.
"I know," she replied smugly.
"Hey, I'm being serious here," Ben pouted, pinching her butt again.
"None of that now," she laughed, kissing away his frown.
"No?"
"Well," she leered, "maybe some of that. We definitely have better things to do than argue."
"We do?"
"Oh, yeah," she promised, playfully pushing him onto his back again. "Nap time is over, lover."
Ben choked as she kneeled between his hard thighs. "Wh—what are you doing?"
"What do you think?" she smirked, looking him over with hooded eyes. "You really are proportionate to your size, Solo," she said appreciatively.
"Uh…" Ben's brain stalled as she grasped his manhood.
"Loth-cat got your tongue?" she inquired, squeezing him experimentally. "Like this? I didn't get to touch you much before."
"M—move your hands up and down, like—yeah! Like that," he shuddered under her shy caresses.
"Faster?"
"Uh—no," he murmured, closing his eyes against the pleasure; the visual of Rey's small fingers gripping his cock was almost too much.
"Harder?"
"No, thank you." Was she trying to kill him?
"No, thank you? Well, at least you're polite."
Ben's eyes snapped open at her clipped tone. "Rey, what is it? Are you okay?"
"No, I'm fine, just… am I doing it wrong?" she frowned, maintaining the same slow rhythm. "What can I do to make it better?"
"Oh," he said, realizing the issue. "Rey, if you make it any better, I'm going to make a mess," he admitted frankly.
She sucked in a breath, then smiled, "I'd like that, actually. I'd love to make a mess of you."
Ben blushed under her hungry gaze. "You're amazing," he sighed, touching her hair again. But this time, he wrapped his hand around the back of her head and tugged. "If that's how you feel, then would you…?"
"Yes," she said eagerly, already lowering her mouth to kiss his flushed tip. "Mmm, salty."
"Sorry, it's the—"
"Heat?" She paused to lick him again. "I already told you, I like the way you taste." And then she was engulfing him between her pink lips, bobbing her head in time with his harsh breathing. Her movements were a little clumsy at first, but she quickly got the hang of it.
"Rey!" he cried, gripping her hair for purchase. "Wait! I'm—oh, Force!" Ben's back bowed and his dick slid to the back of her throat. "Rey! Fuck! Are you—ah!" His concern dying on his tongue, Ben barely held on as Rey seemed to lose herself in tasting a man for the first time. He could feel her in his mind, probing his fantasies, his desires...
"You already know what I want," he said without conscious thought. "You're what I want. You're perfect, perfect for me." Rey hummed around him in agreement, and the minute vibrations nearly tripped him over the edge. "Wait! Stop!"
Pulling back with a disgruntled glare, Rey wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "What? We were just getting to the messy part!"
"I want to come inside you."
"Oh!"
"Only if you want me to," he said in a rush.
Rey crawled back up his frame and hovered over his erection. "I want you to," she said, pointedly pressing her dripping pussy against him.
Ben gulped, palming her hips. "You take control, I don't want to hurt you."
"You could never hurt me," she said confidently. "I've been inside your head, remember?"
"I'll never block you out again," he vowed, clenching as she separated her nether lips with two fingers. "I love you, Rey."
"I—ah—love you too!" she gasped, slowly sinking onto his thickness. "Oh, my—Ben!"
"Rey, I—does this feel as good for you as it does for me?" he grunted, trying not to squirm as she enveloped him inch by inch. "Tell me what you need."
She nodded, bracing her hands on his wide chest. "Just—just be still for a minute. It feels good, but you're—a lot." Her thighs tightened on either side of his hips as she determinedly sank lower.
"Take your time, sweetheart," he encouraged. "There's no need to rush."
"I know, but I want—ooh!" she broke off on a moan as the fine hairs of their sex met. "I—I just can't believe this is finally happening! It's—ah! Ben!"
Fully seated within her at last, Ben struggled to fill his lungs with air. The oppressive heat and humidity outside had nothing on Rey's warmth and he felt like he was burning up. Thick fingers nipping into her waist, he made a strangled sound when she unexpectedly flexed her inner muscles. They were a tight fit, but Rey didn't seem to be in any pain. Just the opposite, in fact.
"Are you alright?" she queried after a moment, pushing sweaty strands of hair away from his face.
He cupped her flushed cheeks in answer, pulling her within range of his lips. Instantly feeling more grounded, Ben caught his breath by sharing hers. After what seemed like an eternity, she gently raised her hips, sliding almost all the way off him before forging the connection again, finding a languid pace that had them both on edge. Yet, their lovemaking remained soft and slow, existing in the space of one breath to the next. Of one heartbeat, one soul…
It was then that a word surfaced in his mind, something he had read once is an obscure tome: dyad. The exact definition eluded him, but Ben felt it beating like a tattoo in his mind. Leading him somewhere, drawing him into a separate world… but not alone. No, Rey was there too. Reaching for him… for the balance between them, light and dark. And the moment their hands touched...
Rey suddenly began to shake in his arms, her climax taking them both by surprise. "Ben, I'm—it wasn't like this last time! It's never been like this!" she panted, biting his shoulder, his chest, anywhere she could reach. "I don't know what to do!"
"It's okay, you're safe," he murmured, smoothing his hands up and down her back. "We're both safe forever," he comforted. What's more, he knew it was the truth; nothing could separate them now. They were made for each other.
"Then be with me!" she whined, still teetering on the precipice. "Be with me, Ben! Please!"
"I am." It was freeing to be in love, to be loved in return. He had feared giving into Rey's desires for so long, but now he knew that there was no difference between what she wanted and what he wanted. They were fated, just like Rey had said; soulmates bound through the Force...
Ben groaned harshly as he allowed himself to let go, to come apart in her arms, spilling his seed in an uncontrollable flood of passion. The pleasure was so intense, so sharp, it was almost painful, but then he realized why: Ben could feel Rey's ecstasy as well. "Force, Rey! Do you feel that?"
"Yes!" she screamed. "I feel it too!"
Supporting her weight as her strength gave out and she collapsed across his damp chest, Ben pumped into her a few more times to extend their shared delight. But, inevitability, exhaustion claimed him as well.
——————
You're an unfenced fire! (for last) Over walls we trampled! (for last) It's you I admire! (for last)
——————
Ben roused first this time, shivering despite the fact that Rey was still blanketing him. Though it was barely dusk, the weather had taken a turn. His once steamy bedroom was now cool, the wind wafting in through his open window chilly. "That's weird," he muttered, carefully rolling Rey onto her back as he moved to shut the window.
"Hey, come back," she said groggily, wrapping her arms around his middle from behind.
"I'm here," he chuckled, throwing the latch for good measure, "just hold on for a second."
"Don't wanna," she complained, nuzzling her face against his back.
"You are so greedy," he joked, letting her drag him back to the bed. "We'll have to work on that in class next—oh, shit." Ben froze as he felt his uncle's Force signature approach the front door.
"Are you decent?" Luke called, knocking merrily. "And there's no need to sneak out, young lady, I know you're in there," he added good-naturedly.
"Oh, no!" Rey's hazel eyes were huge in her elfin face as she tracked past Ben to the door. "Ben, what should we do?"
"Get dressed," he said numbly, hastily pulling black trousers and a matching long sleeve shirt from his dresser. He threw the latter at her and tugged on the pants, scrambling to look presentable before their master grew impatient and stormed inside. Quickly looking her over, Ben was pleased to see that his shirt fell to her knees.
"What else?" she asked anxiously.
"Hair!" he responded, grabbing his brush and motioning for her to turn around. Rey complied and he quickly put her to rights, picking up some of her pins and ties off the floor and securing her locks in an Alderaanian plait.
"All done?" Luke said with another knock.
Glaring at the door, Ben ran the brush through his own hair once, then smoothed out his rumpled bed while Rey stowed their discarded clothing in his hamper. "Almost!"
"Are you sure? I can always come back later."
"Just hold on!" they yelled together, giving the room a once over before looking at each other again.
"It's going to be okay," Rey told him, reaching for his hand.
Ben slid his fingers between hers and gave them a squeeze. "I know."
"Right then," Luke said, strolling into the hut as soon as Ben waved a hand to unlock the door. "Now that the two of you have finally figured things out, I must ask that you please cease and desist with manipulating the weather. It's not fair to the other students and inhabitants of this planet."
Whatever they had expected Master Luke to say, it wasn't that.
"What?" Rey gaped.
"Really, younglings, you must have noticed that our moderately temperate planet has suddenly experienced a change in climate today. Several changes, actually." Luke looked thoughtful. "It does seem to be evening out now, though. Likely due to the strength of your dyadic connection."
"So, it was because of us," Ben said in awe, recalling everything that had happened between them today. "Because Rey and I are a dyad in the Force."
The old Jedi texts in Luke's study mentioned Force-users powerful enough to affect the weather of whole planets, but Ben had never considered it could happen in real life. If the legends were to be believed, two Jedi Masters working in perfect harmony could do just about anything. And if those Jedi were also a dyad...
"You knew?" Rey tilted her head in interest.
"I suspected," Ben replied. "It started getting unseasonably hot when we were in the training center and then uh… you know… when we, um…" He trailed off in a mumble, recognizing that his uncle was still very much in the room.
"Ohhh…" she nodded in understanding. "But then why is it so cold now?"
"To balance out the heat?" Ben guessed.
"Precisely," Luke said, sounding amused. "So, if you're going to be together, please don't wait until the balance of the planet is at stake to, you know, be together."
"Are you giving us permission to have sex?" Ben said dumbly.
"I very much doubt I could stop you, so it seems like the prudent thing to do."
"You mean you're not throwing us out?" Rey said hopefully.
"Of course not," Luke scoffed.
Ben's mouth fell open in shock. "And we can still be Jedi?"
"Rey will obviously remain my Padawan when you graduate to Jedi Master, but yes."
"Really?"
His uncle rolled his eyes. "I can see that this conversation is going to take longer than I anticipated."
"But love is forbidden for a Jedi!" Ben exclaimed.
"For the Jedi of old, perhaps, but we are not them."
"No, we're not," Rey agreed, leaning against Ben's side.
"Uncle," Ben said, voice cracking with emotion as he put his arm around Rey for support, "thank you."
Luke beamed at them both, "You're very welcome, nephew. Now, I have some other news I wish to share with you."
"What is it?"
"Since the truth of our lineage has been revealed, your mother has suffered a blow in the Senate. She intends to come stay here for a while with your father."
"They're coming here?" Ben was astonished.
"They want to see you. To explain."
"They do?"
Luke's expression softened. "Of course they do. I'm only sorry they haven't been able to come sooner. You must forgive an old man's foolishness. I've been clinging to what the Jedi were, not what they ought to be. But we're going to change that, from this day forward. Okay?"
"Okay!" they said enthusiastically.
Still, Ben had a few reservations. "Uncle, can we talk later? Snoke's influence seems to have weakened, but—"
Luke waved away his lingering fear. "We can, certainly, but you have nothing to worry about. You will not fall to the dark side, Ben. Not now, not ever." He smiled as he backed up to leave. "Snoke doesn't know it yet, but he's already lost."
Ben knew it too, but nevertheless, it was a relief to hear the words from his uncle, his hero. "Thank you," he said again.
"No problem," Luke winked as he opened the door. "See you around, kids!"
——————
My living example... It's you I admire! My living example
——————
Rey and Ben collapsed onto his bed, laughing uproariously.
"I can't believe it!" she said happily.
"Me either!" he sighed. "All that worry for nothing."
"Not for nothing," she protested, curling into his side. "You needed to work through your fear."
"Thank you for sticking by me while I did." Ben closed his arms around her, kissing her soundly. "I'm glad you didn't give up on me."
"I'm glad you gave me a chance to get through that thick skull of yours," she teased.
"Yeah, well, it's really hard to say no to you when you want something."
"Which just proves that I have excellent taste in partners!"
"Partners?" Ben stared into her bright eyes.
"Life partners," Rey said seriously. "You're stuck with me, Ben Solo. Forever."
"Forever?" Meaning he would have someone in his life who loved him as much as he loved them? Someone who would never leave him alone again? Yeah, he could handle forever. "Deal."
-FIN-
——————
A/N: Thanks for reading my work! This was actually pretty therapeutic for me since I haven't been able to write much since TRoS. I truly believe that Ben should have reconciled with Leia and Luke and gone on to live and atone for his mistakes. I'll always be crushed that he didn't. Anyway, defy every cynical narrative <3

Combing back through all my Reylo fanfic rough drafts on Google Docs, I found a really good one-shot that I wrote a while ago (can’t remember when) but never posted. I wanted to do so now as a show of solidarity and positivity for my Reylo family who is wonderful and deserves the world. Here you go, my loves:
The criminal kept his eyes fused to the floor of the shuttle. He didn’t move an inch, and even if he’d wanted to, blasters were pointed at him on all sides in case he ever did. Upon landing the finality of gravity and solid ground kicked up into his rigid legs, and he could feel the pulsating energies of hundreds of beings waiting outside, surrounding him.
The doors of the shuttle opened with an angry hiss of steam, and the killer lifted his gaze at last to meet the eyes that waited, see the puffs of frozen breath rising up from places in the crowd where whispers danced and fought to escape into the cold air. He didn’t need to hear what they said to know what each and every one of them was thinking; he could feel the hatred, the contempt, the lust for justice rippling through the Force, shooting at him like blaster shots, piercing his chest and burning his flesh from every inch of the landing field. From the moment he stepped onto the ground, he knew, as he’d always known, he was alone. Utterly alone, a thing that was never meant to be but for some cruel reason Fate had decreed it to be so. Alone.
The word on their breath barely escaped their lips before he trembled with the excitement it forced into him: monster. They were right, of course. They’d always been right, and he had always known it on some level. Yet despite the shots of pure adrenaline that cascaded through his body at just a taste of their darkness, something wasn’t right. Nothing was ever right. That is, until he met her. The girl of nothing, from nowhere, who’d wielded a power greater than any he’d ever felt. The girl who’d filled his senses from the moment he laid eyes on her, who fought him and saved him and left him to die. Who wanted him so badly she couldn’t feel the truth, that no one in this galaxy possessed a compassion great enough to contain the forgiveness it would take to redeem him.
That is, no one except for her.
The next thing he knew he was on his knees, hard concrete grinding into his soul as he let everything go. Nothing else mattered. They had their victory, their revolution, their so-called “peace.” It would only be a matter of time before they realized the conflict they’d brought upon the galaxy, the same conflict that still ravaged his heart and his mind, even as he lied to himself, told himself there was no conflict, that there was only darkness and nothing more. And so they would lie to themselves, just as he’d learned to hide the truth within him. Nothing else mattered. Anyone who’d ever loved him was gone, and he realized this too late to stop the tear that broke through and shattered on the ground. He was alone. Completely alone. Nobody...no one...alone.
The pilot, Dameron, their new leader since Leia---his mother---died, cocked the hand-held blaster and put its frozen barrel against his temple. The monster shivered despite himself. He was afraid. Too late. No one could save him, he’d always known. And so he lowered his eyes once more, shutting them forever, allowing the Force to be his guide, to lead him far away from this place, far away from everything. He had nothing left but himself. Dameron’s finger touched the trigger. Cruelty found a home in the smile that appeared on his face. For the Resistance, he thought. For Leia.
“Ben!” a voice cried out, full of all the pain and fear of a lifetime lived alone. All heads turned away from the spectacle, turned away from the kneeling, trembling man who had just begun to beg for mercy. “Stop, please!” He lifted his head, red-rimmed eyes searching the crowd until at last he saw where the people were parting to let someone through.
The girl made her way through the throng like nobody was there, no one would hold her back this time. At last, Rey broke through to the clearing where he was, where Ben knelt before her, drowning in shame and fear. At once, she rushed forward, pushing back the guards who tried to restrain her with a hard nudge of the Force, sending them and their blasters sliding away. Poe found he couldn’t move; he’d been frozen in place by some invisible energy, prevented from pulling the trigger by the girl whom he’d known as a friend.
Falling to her knees in front of Ben, she instantly threw her arms around him, pouring all her energy of love and compassion, but most of all forgiveness, into his body, giving him the strength to lift his arms and hold her as tightly as he could. They fell into each other like that, drained of tears but still weeping in utter relief.
Poe, emerging from shock, said, “Rey, what the hell are you…”
The crowd, only moments before ready to tear their sworn enemy to pieces, fell into a hush that seemed to grip the entire planet, and the only sounds for what seemed like forever came from the two tired bodies holding each other tightly, no longer aware of the cold concrete beneath them or the sub-zero air around them.
Finding her breath at last, Rey wailed against his chest, “I thought you were dead!”
So did I, he thought, hardly daring to believe it wasn’t so.
But you’re here now. It’s going to be okay. I promise. Ben...I love you.
I… Ben thought, allowing himself to fall into the feeling that had haunted him ever since she’d left. The feeling that now bloomed in his soul, bloomed in Rey’s heart, connecting them forever. He took a deep breath of relief, burying his face in her neck and holding her tighter. I love you, Rey.
Rey smiled. I know.

Bonded Chapter 39: Rumors
The newest chapter to my Reylo fanfic (rated T). If you want to check out the previous chapters, here’s the link to AO3!
Rey rests against the seat, eyes closed. Her body is relaxed, every muscle at ease— her legs crossed loosely, arms hanging by her sides, palms facing up.
She’s in her favorite spot on the Falcon, the middle of the lounge seat, surrounded by the comforts of home.
But that’s not where she is in her mind.
No, there she’s in the kyber cave. She’s sitting dead center on that blue mat she took from the training room. The air is crisp and dry, a cool kiss on her skin. The crystals shimmer all around, whispering to her, inviting her to join them.
She answers their call, drifting away bit by bit like flower petals swept up in the wind. She becomes bigger, no longer Rey but part of that great, eternal consciousness, stretching out through time and space. Everything is small from this vantage point, events that transformed entire ecosystems just a speck, part of a never-ending cycle of destruction and recreation.
It’s pure peace. Pure truth. She revels in the sense of infinity, the knowledge that no matter the disaster, life will go on. It always does…
She tilts her head back, a smile on her lips.
That’s when it flashes. It’s brief, just an image.
Poe screaming at her, the look in his eyes— the anger, the brokenness.
She cringes.
In an instant, it all rushes back, shame and heartache weighing her down, making her so heavy she could sink through the floor.
She opens her eyes, trying to swallow, but her throat’s tight again, that tightness that just won’t leave. She walks around with it all day, that and the pit in her stomach.
Rey droops. She feels them gathering, tears pushing at the backs of her eyes.
No!
She straightens, sucking in a breath.
NO.
No more crying.
She didn’t come here to sit by herself and weep.
Rey squares her shoulders, adjusting in her seat. She brings her hands to her lap, closing her eyes, concentrating on the visualization. She starts to see it again…
The cave ceiling looms high, crystals stretching across it, shining down on her with their white-blue glow. It’s still the most beautiful thing she’s ever seen, filling her with reverence and gratitude.
She imagines them calling to her, whispers swirling in her head, beckoning her. She starts to let go, to drift away with them…
But she’s interrupted by another flash.
This one’s from the morning, the debriefing with the rescue team, all eyes on her. She sees the emotions flicker— uncertainty and suspicion gathering like a storm over the room.
Rey’s eyes fly open.
It’s back again— the tightness in her throat, the pit in her stomach, the weight crushing her down.
Without thinking, she slams a fist into the hologame table.
She scrambles to the edge of the seat, shooting up and starting to pace the room. She squeezes her throbbing hand, then flails it about, shaking out the pain.
She can’t do it. She just can’t do it.
She can’t go a minute without thinking about it, without feeling it, her friendships in shambles, her leadership in question, everything she’s built subject to scrutiny and doubt.
It’s been nearly a week, but the pain is still fresh, the scene playing again and again in her mind — everyone gathered around the holo, the confusion and disbelief, Poe blowing up at her.
It’s a living nightmare. Her reality.
She tenses, still pacing.
Being outed in front of her closest friends was bad enough, not to mention the way she was outed. She can’t imagine anything worse, for Poe to hear what he did, to have his heart ripped out in front of her.
She’d been so thankful to get off the base, on a mission the next day. It was easier not to think about it with a team to lead, slaves to rescue. She returned somewhat rejuvenated, ready to make things right.
But within minutes of getting on base, she felt it, a change in the air. The signs were everywhere.
She’d walk down the hall, and people would make a point not to look at her. She’d pass by someone on her team only to be greeted by a thin smile and a quickened pace. She’d walk into a room and a lively conversation would stop, transforming to hushed whispers.
It’s like nothing she’s ever experienced before, to walk by a crowd and feel their suspicion, their disapproval. There’s no escaping it, no place free from judgement. Even with Finn and Rose…
She droops, slowing her pace.
They’re trying so hard to understand, to give her the benefit of the doubt. They’ve listened to her, asked questions, and though she still feels their love, their loyalty, she also feels their ambivalence.
And their disappointment.
That’s the worst part, looking into their eyes to see the shadow of her former self, diminished.
Rey halts by the technical station, staring blankly ahead. For a minute, she just stands there.
Then she turns, walking absently to the lounge seat. She lowers to the edge, leaning over to rest her forearms on her knees. She stares at the floor, but she doesn’t see it. All she sees is him, his words echoing in her mind, quiet and steady…
“You.” Poe points at her. “You are not the person I thought you were.”
She closes her eyes.
“I don’t even know who you are anymore.”
She squeezes them tight.
“Except for a liar and a hypocrite.”
The tears start to gather, pushing their way through.
NO!
Her eyes fly open.
No more crying.
How many times does she have to tell herself this?
No. More. Crying.
Be strong. Be resilient.
Be Leia.
Rey sits up, wiping the corners of her eyes. She rolls her shoulders a couple of times, then squares them.
Yes, Leia’s exactly the person she needs to channel right now. She’s been through far worse than what Rey’s going through and survived it all.
She didn’t just survive. She transformed. What is it she’s always saying…?
Every challenge you face is an opportunity to become wiser.
That’s right. She said it again just yesterday.
Rey sent her a comm request after she got back, ostensibly to warn her about the gossip, the effect it could have on their agreement to tone down the Resistance’s activities.
But really, Rey just needed to hear her voice, see her face, even if it was over a holo. She raced to the conference room the moment she got word from command.
And they talked, not for long, but long enough to give her some much-needed perspective.
Leia was… Well, she was Leia. She has this way of being comforting yet tough and pragmatic at the same time.
At first, she just listened. She was very patient as Rey explained what happened through her sobs, offering empathy, her voice calm and soothing. Rey was encouraged to find she hadn’t heard about the incident, though Leia warned her rumors would spread beyond the training base.
Rey drooped in her chair, resigned to this reality. She gulped as she leaned to the holo, an image of Leia sitting in her office.
“So…” Rey started hesitantly. “How will this affect your decision to tone things down for a while?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean…” Rey shifted in her seat. “Everyone knows I was instrumental in that. What if…?” She pressed her lips together. “What if people think my judgement is skewed? What if…?” She cringed. “What if people start questioning both of us, think we’re acting on sentiment?”
“Rey.” Leia sat up. “I need you to listen to what I’m about to tell you because it might be the most important thing you ever hear.”
Rey straightened, scooting to the edge of her chair.
Leia leaned in, eyes fixed on hers.
“So what?”
“So what…?” Rey tilted her head.
“So what?” Leia punctuated each word. “So what if people talk? So what if they question? So what if they criticize? You cannot let gossip dictate your actions.”
“But…” Rey knitted her eyebrows. “You’re the one who says appearances matter, that what people think impacts what we can accomplish. What if—”
“Rey.” Leia lifted a hand. “Appearances do matter, but there’s a time to listen to the talk, and there’s a time to ignore it all and do what is right.”
“And you’re sure this is what’s right?”
“Positive.” She practically cut her off. “Rey, there are very few things that scare me, but the idea of Hux getting control of the First Order, of Starkiller…?” She widened her eyes. “That scares me. And based on what you’ve told me, it’s becoming a likelier scenario every day. If reigning back our activities helps my son keep that from happening, then I will do it because that is what’s best for the galaxy.”
“And if people start challenging your decision, say you shouldn’t trust me?”
“Then, I’ll listen to their concerns, and I’ll manage them.” Leia sat back in her chair, so casual, like she deals with this sort of thing every day. “People will always talk, Rey.” She folded her hands in her lap. “There’s never been a leader whose judgment wasn’t questioned by their followers. Let them talk, but don’t let them interfere with your convictions, what you know in your heart.”
Rey took a deep breath, eyes fixed on Leia. For a few moments, they were quiet.
Then, Leia got a strange look on her face. Even through the holo, Rey could see the glint in her eyes.
“You…” Leia pointed at her. “Are a very brave woman, you know that?”
Rey just stared, caught off guard.
“I’m not talking about these rescues you’re doing.” She shook her head. “I’m talking about a different kind of bravery. I’m talking about your compassion.” She leaned in. “For my son, for the people in the First Order, how you’re trying to end this war without bloodshed. It’s not easy to break the mold, to do something everyone around you doesn’t understand.” She sat back in her chair. “It takes courage to challenge people’s perceptions. They will kick and thrash against it. They’ll call you crazy. They’ll call you all kinds of things.” She kept her eyes on Rey. “And through it all, you just have to look them dead on and say, ‘You’re wrong. Watch me show you.’”
Rey listened intently, aching to be in the same room with her, to feel what she saw in her eyes, that absolute confidence.
“I am so proud of you.” Leia smiled. “You’re strong, you’re brave, and you are a good person.”
Rey’s throat tightened, tears welling in her eyes.
“Thank you,” she whispered. “But…” She looked down. “Tell that to Poe.”
Leia grunted.
“Poe…” She raised her eyebrows. “Is also very strong and very brave. And very…” She pursed her lips. “Rigid. He sees things in black and white. He hasn’t had your experiences, a chance to see how complicated things can be, but…” She tilted her head. “He will. And when he does, he’ll come around. Trust me.”
Rey nodded, trying to believe it. She lifted a hand to her cheek, brushing away tears.
Leia’s eyes tightened.
“Oh, Rey.” She tsked, shaking her head. “I wish I could hug you.”
At that, Rey just broke down, the tears flowing freely.

Supreme Leader Ren, Kylo Ren fanfic
Author’s note:
While I liked the Ben Solo in Snoke's Throne Room scene, overall, I prefer JJ Abram's portrayal of Kylo Ren - strong, intimidating, explosive, beautiful.
Tumblr media
Rian Johnson's Ben Solo is unkept, soft, all over the place, and rugged-looking.
Tumblr media
I get that Kylo Ren’s character is unraveling, but, idk. The warmer colors. The zero-strength Kylo Ren. 🤔🤔 I don't understand why Kylo wants Rey to understand him. A lot of things that happened in the movie seemed to be far from organic.
I love TLJ, either way - for what it is to us Reylo shippers. But for this fic, think TFA-Kylo Ren/Ben Solo.
I mean, even as Kylo was dying, he was still beautiful. LOL. HAHA. A true prince.
Tumblr media
I mean, look at that eyeliner power! Also, he looks so young in TFA. (Just my preference I guess.) :D
https://archiveofourown.org/works/13426206 (link to the original I posted months ago. I pasted the same story below.
Hope you like it!
SUPREME LEADER REN.
"Do you think I am still a boy?" He hissed in his deep, menacing voice. His gaze, unfaltering; his tone, resolute as he takes a step towards her. "Do you think I need saving?" He continues in challenge.
"I am neither lost nor in need of saving." He answers his own question in the woman's stead. As he approached her, she stood her ground, strong and proud as she always has been; even amid his intimidating physique towering over her. "I do not need your redemption." He spits at her.
"I am the Supreme Leader because I chose to be." He ends all doubt, all question about him, his heritage, his conflict. "I am neither Snoke, nor Vader, nor Han Solo."
"And I am ruler because it is my duty to kill the past. To bury it."
With his eyes glaring, gleaming with his expressive watery gaze, he tells her, finally, with subtlest hint of tenderness, "Do not fear for me, mother. For there is nothing I have been more certain of than this role cast upon me."
Finally, Leia's straight, unfazed expression breaks. Her wrinkled lips quirk. And a light flashes through her eyes. It seemed, as it always had been, that the connection Han and Ben never had; she and Ben always shared. So, as her final words to the son she had always loved, to the son she had lost, and to the son she had found, she tells him with her coarse, aged voice, "Then, rule."
At her words, at the sound of her voice so close to him after all these years, Ben involuntarily swallows the lump lodged in his throat; his Adam's apple, bobbing down and back. The taste in his mouth, soured by grief, by the guilt of making her suffer for so long.
"Rule, Ben; righteously, justly, and fully."
Then, Leia reaches up, to cup her son's cheek; the warmth of his face, the way he fell into her touch, filled her chest with a fullness she's known only once before; when she first held him in her arms.
Ben raises his hand and gently holds on to his mother's spotted, aged one. And tenderly, he vows to her in farewell, "I will." Then, his lips quirking like Leia's, like his strong-willed mother, says, "After all, I've had the best teacher."
You've thrust him upon men; doubting yourself, your ability to bring him home. All he ever needed was you, Leia. I've never met anyone so strong, so beautiful, and able as you. I only pray our son should be half as lucky as I am - to have met someone like you.
To salvage whatever morsel was left of our family, I was willing to sacrifice my life; as I have. I only hope our son knows, just how much he means to us - to me.
Tricky it is, the relationship of a father and son. Tender, that of a son and his mother. Where the latter is filled with love and compassion, the other is filled with disappointment, competition, and unrivaled expectation.
"Your father-" Her voice choked, amid the stifling cold air, her ragged breathing, the erupting Starkiller Base. "-He loved you! And you - you -"
His eyes widen, for less than a second, the image of his father, breaking into a smile, flashed through his eyes. For an instant, the man wondered - did the egotistical, money-hungry scoundrel think he would run away with him? From everything he's achieved?
"You monster!"
No. A voice in his mind speaks, deep, familiar, - dead.
His father had come to him to show him how deeply he loved him - that for him, he was willing to give up his life, his past, - his future.
The cracking of the falling trees, the thundering blasts and explosions around him, once again, he hisses as he pulls himself up and, with a full fist, hits his side, deep velvet blood dripping from his suit to the white winter snow; embracing the searing pain from his fresh wound, fueling himself with the burning agony.
This love, the deep love of his fallen father, Ben Solo will never know.
"I love him, Leia." Han breaks into his wife's tender embrace.
And with a soft voice, herself unsure, she tells him nonetheless, "He knows."
"Where," the young Ben Solo's voice broke, afraid to ask, to know the truth in what he feared. "Am I to go?" Fear - it always seemed to find him.
"To train with your uncle Luke," His mother pets his fluffy dark hair, her smile, not quite reaching her beautiful brown eyes. "To become a Jedi Knight like your uncle, like your grandfather before him." She tells him proudly.
Wide eyes look past his mother's tender gaze to his father's hard, conflicted ones, surprised by the expression in the boy's face - asking him a question he did not understand, searching for an answer he did not know.
So, instead, and rather lamely, Han tells his pre-adolescent son, "Give them hell, kid."
Ben's eyes fall to the ground in disappointment, nodding halfheartedly.
"Is that all you're bringing?" Luke pops out from his spaceshuttle, a grin plastered on his young, jovial face; gesturing to the calligraphy set between young Ben Solo's arm.
The boy gives a small smile, nodding. And, with a simple wave of the hand, his uncle calls him over, unaware of the friend his nephew had brought along; whispering lies and deceit into his ear.
"It is dead." Ben Solo now tells her amid the blood, metallic in stench, drying at the side of his head. The noise of the war stilled around them. "The Sith and the Jedi." And, for the third time, he raises his hand to her in offer, "Rule with me, Rey."
Promise me, Ben. Rule with righteousness, justice, and with your whole being.
Ben's tender gaze, never once before her, faltered as he tells her again, and again, "I swear it."
Uniform footsteps stop with a snap before him. Ben Solo turns from his commanding bridge and nods to his reporting military officers.
"General Solo." An amphibious humanoid salutes him. "We've arrived."
END.
Author’s note:
General Solo, what a tribute to his parent’s legacy! It would be incredible to see him addressed this manner in canon. (General Leia Organa + Han Solo) And no trace of the toxic/burdensome Skywalker name!! :oooooo
A snippet on what I see in Kylo Ren/Ben Solo's character. I have great hopes for him. Also, I don't want his character development to depend on another person - that's just unrealistic. You grow because of yourself, because you chose it. All your actions return to you and what you've done. The best people around you can do is to influence you. But, that's just it - it's by your choice that you allow them to influence your character. (That’s how I live my life/perceive things actually, lol. As an adult, you can’t blame anyone for what you are. You’re an adult. If you don’t like something about yourself, only you can change it.)
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo’s character is incredibly complex. I love it so much. He could go either way - towards the light or the dark. But the possibility of reaching a middle ground. OF SOME NEW EMPIRE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. WOW. That’s just next level. Here's to hoping we get a strong character out of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren in IX! Make us proud, kid!
*General Solo - A tribute to his mother and his father. Like how couples name their children with a mash of their names.

Force and Fury - a MadMax AU [Reylo] fanfic. ENGLISH VERSION Chapiter 3 : Starkiller
Tumblr media
There was neither an incident nor an attack during the journey. Unkar had picked a team of four scavengers, who joined Rey as planned a couple of hours before dawn. They all came from Niima and Rey knew them well. The truck driver was Riley, a blond woman with a side of her head shaved. Next to her sat Jared, carrying an automatic rifle. His skin was a deep shade of black and his sight flawless. The roof of the truck was the position of Sun, a skinny girl with dark skin, fearing neither sand nor sunburn, operating a heavy machine gun. The fourth member of the expedition, a swift man called Foster, followed the truck on his motorbike. As for Rey, she drove far ahead, carrying Fluffy-Evil-Lord-Of-Death in the empty wagon. Rey remained woke, expecting a treason any moment. Was Sun going to aim and execute her from her position? Would Riley and Jared try to crush her little bike under their truck’s massive wheels? Was another team of henchmen going to pop from behind boulders and ambush them? What was Unkar’s plan of action this time?
The previous day, after Unkar’s attack, Rey made it home without new trouble, and everything was quiet for the rest of the day. But she couldn’t keep calm : why did Unkar put a reward on her head? She was aware of two new elements that could have led him to this sudden interest : the wreckage, and the dog. The location of the wreckage couldn’t justify killing her, quite the contrary actually ; it would benefit him much more if she stayed alive. This meant he was after the dog.
It was a beautiful dog and he’d make quite a barbecue, but that wasn’t enough yet to hire four murderers. As far as she knew, she was the only scout of her kind in Niima. Which meant this dog was worth her sacrifice… it made no sense.
She now drove the track towards the shipwreck and was actually starting to relax. If these four scavengers had been willing to kill her, they would have made attempts by now. She could focus on her surroundings… the desert was never empty, despite appearances!
Her headache was fortunately quite mild at the moment. She only felt the buzz due to the dog on her vehicle, and the truck a few hundred yards behind. Nothing worth her attention.
As the blue shade of the night stretched over the plain, they stopped and raised their camp.
According to Rey, the shipwreck was only a few hours away, but it was safer to take halt for the night. They know too well the dangers of nocturnal expeditions.
The vehicles were carefully checked : engines, oil, gas, tires. Guns were loaded and night guard was established. First round for Foster and Sun, then Rey alone, then Riley and Jared.
They didn’t ignite a fire, it would have been too obvious in the darkness. Rey pulled out a bowl and poured water for the dog, who drank loudly. Riley, biting on her protein stick, couldn’t take her eyes of him.-
- Where does that dog come from, Rey? She asked after a while.
Rey shrugged :
- I found him, lost in the desert, and I kept him, that’s all.
- Are you going to eat him? Sun asked.
Rey smiled, as if the question had been completely silly :
- No! No, I’ll keep it as pet.
- What’s his use, beside eating your rations and water supplies? You could make profits from him, organize fights and gambling… All it would take is some training.
- No, seriously, I’m not into gambling. I’d rather keep him this way.
Riley frowned :
- Someone is going to steal him. There’s good money to make, what a waste. You’ll get in trouble.
Rey stayed silent, looking at Fluffy-Evil-Lord-of-Death as he playfully trudled around, waving his tail. Riley and Sun were right : this dog was going to draw attention on her. It had already started. Her lifelong protector had turned against her and she doubted to ever feel safe again until she arranged the situation.
She sighed :
- I’m always in trouble. At least now I’m in trouble in good company.
She stood up and stretched her neck :
- I’m going to sleep. See you in a few hours.
After what, she whistled sharply and pat her lap with her flat hand ; the dog came to her on that call and she rubbed his head.
- Come on Evil Lord Of Death. Let’s go to bed.
Everyone proceeded on getting ready for the night to come. Rey snuggled in her blanket, next to her bike, keeping her staff and machete close. The dog sniffed around, seemed to chase his tail for a moment, then curled next to her.
She listened to the soft voices of Foster and Sun, to the familiar clicking of weapons being handled, as both of them took their positions for the first watch. Steady squeaks and muffled moans came from the truck as Riley and Jared were having sex. Nothing unsusual. Rey gave in to sleep.
A sharp pain drilled her temples and she woke up screaming, holding her skull between both hands. People. People everywhere.
They were under attack!
She jumped wide awake. It must have been close to midnight, as the moon was high in the sky. She saw accurately Sun loading the machine gun on the top of the truck. Foster banged on the side to wake up Riley and Jared. Fluffy Evil Lord Of Death bristled and bared his fangs. Rey climbed to the top of the truck to join Sun and and stared at the desert around them. She pointed a finger towards the approaching men.
_ Over there, in front of the sand dune, she said. There are two of them.
_ I can’t see shit, Sun hissed between her clenched teeth, hands stiffed on the gun. Let’s ignite the torch lights, we can’t fight in the dark.
_ No, Rey said. They don’t know I can see them ; they show too much confidence. We can overcome them without taking any risks.
She knew, on pure instinct, where the ennemis stood. They were at least four : two crawling forward, who obviously didn’t know they had been caught yet, and two more on the other side, riding a large motorbike. What tribe did they come from? They didn’t look like raiders.
The one on the motorbike roared engines and raced toward them. It was a wide bike, with a single wheel on front and two on the back. Sun swung the gun and shot blindly, in a deafening thunder and flashes of light that blinded Rey for a moment. As if it had been the sign everyone was waiting for, suddenly all the guns started firing, in every direction. So much for stealth! Rey, lying on her stomach, could see bullets shooting around her. She was useless up there ;she was much better fighter in close combat. She climbed swiflty down from the truck’s roof and stood straight in front of the motorbike, ready to overthrow the pilot from his vehicle. She sensed that the dog was nearby, but she had bigger worries at the moment. The bike raced to her. Rey jumped aside to dodge it, but the pilot sharply steered, in a two wheels drift that almost knocked it over. Caught off guard by this sudden turn, Rey didn’t react fast enough to dodge the metallic staff that stroke her. She collapsed on the sand, breathless, her vision blurring. She could hear around her the roar of raging combat ; she heard the screams of Sun, Riley, Jared and Foster among those of their attackers.
She stood up with a wince, looking for the dog. He was in the middle of the battle, and she called “Evil Lord of Death! Attack!”
But the dog ignored her as he happily waved his tail in front of the rider. Rey, still struggling to catch her breath, stood frozen in surprise for the second time in only a few minutes.
The man exclaimed : “BB8! It’s BB8!”
And Rey, stunned, only managed to mumble “BB what?” before crumpling to the ground, stricken in the back by an attacker she didn’t see.
Tumblr media
Kylo Ren didn’t turn around as two tall figures came in the large room of walls made of raw concrete. He was contemplating the lake, and its dark and still waters. Slaves were busy on its shores, such as tiny ants.
- Tuanul village is no longer a concern, I personally made sure of that, Kylo Ren said in his mask.
A female voice, with a metallic hue due to her helmet, rose behind him :
- Did you find any Resistant?
Kylo Ren slowly turned around, to face his counterparts. Phasma was wearing an uneven armor, which she had been carefully grooming. Its chrome shades quite stood out in this palace of sand and rust. As for Hux, he was a shriveled yet sleek man, who took great care of his clothes when no one else could afford such luxury. He wore his red hair in a mohawk and nails in his ears. All three governed the First Order, under direct command of the Supreme Leader Snoke. Hux lead strategy, Phasma lead the armies and Kylo Ren led intelligence. Hunt and kill, military strikes and meaningful executions, that was all him. His name and his shadow stretched over the First Order as symbols of his power and his wrath.
- Our informants didn’t lie : Lor San Tekka was operating a well and a Resistance network. The well will be clogged today and the villagers should be on their way to the fortress, if you gave your orders as planned.
- I did. Phasma answered.
- And the Resistance Network, did you catch them? Said Hux with a nervous twitch of his shoulders.
Kylo Ren lowered his masked face to him and Hux flinched.
- The orange dog had been spotted near the village. He must have fallen off a vehicle and I expect him to try to gather with his owner, straight to the Resistance. I offered a fairly high reward to our barons for his head. Whoever sees him should catch it and inform us.
- And? Any news yet?
- Not yet. But it’s been less than 24 hours. Trust me : an orange dog can not pass unnoticed. We’ll hear about him soon.
- You better. Hux hissed between his teeth. The Resistance gets more allies everyday, and I don’t see you containing this plague.
Kylo moved a step forward. He was much taller than Hux. His voice was bitter.
- Are you questioning my strategy, Hux?
The red hair man flinched and slightly backed out as Kylo Ren leaned over him :
- All I’m saying is that I need results. These anarchists disturb our operations.
Phasma’s metallic voice cut short the argument, and both raised their heads to listen to her :
- Taxes will be perceived in two weeks time. You both know what that means. If Resistant is planning a coup, it will be then.
They knew what she meant : barons of the whole territory would send their ambassadors driving tank trunks to pay their taxes (whatever their village could produce : food, slaves, raw materials) and bring back water. There would be lots of hustle around the fort, temporary camps would rise, there would be people everywhere, and along with them would come parties, thefts, and fights. It was tradition to proceed to a few public executions, to make a statement and remind them who ruled this country. Snoke wouldn’t make an appearance, he never did. Yet Phasma, Hux and Ren should show off. Their main ally was the owner of the petrol fields and the refinery plant. It was a disabled man, whose legs were too weak to support his enormous stomach. He was a flabby mountain of wallowing flesh in his castle, another fortress at fair distance from Starkiller. Convoys of water and gas rode back and forth between both fortresses, and as these were the most valuable resources of this forsaken desert, the track between Starkiller and the palace of Jabba the Hutt, as he was called, was the Resistance favorite target.
Kylo Ren’s fists clenched to his sides as the simple thought of Resistance. His reputation and relevance within Starkiller would only stop being questioned when he’d crush this batch of vermins, lead by a woman whose sole name drove him mad : Leia Organa.
Because she was his mother, Hux, Phasma, Snoke, but also every single war trooper in starkiller questioned his loyalty. Because she was his mother, each failure was suspicious. Because she was his mother, he was fallible. And this idea infuriated him.
Phasma had work to do, she was to organize the troops for the tax ceremonies. The upcoming weeks would be exhausting. She gave a polite salute and left the room, closing the door behind her. Hux and Ren were now alone.
As soon as she left the room, Kylo Ren raised his hands to his helmet and took it off. He dropped it on the steel table that stood in the middle of the room and racked his fingers in his hair.
Hux didn’t make a move and stood straight, hands behind his back.
Kylo Ren’s voice rose, deep and strong as it wasn’t modified by the helmet anymore.
- I hate this season. The crowd. Those pathetic creatures…
- Now is not the time to fail, Ren, Hux said, raising an eyebrow.
Ren stared at him with furious eyes. The crowd gave him excruciating headaches that denied him sleep and made him even more nervous than usual.
Hux knew that and yet, he kept pushing.
- I won’t fail. Kylo answered, endorsing each word.
Hux came closer :
- You overestimate yourself, Hux said. You are obviously exhausted.
As he talked, he came even closer. They could almost touch each other and Ren felt his burning breath on his lips as Hux spoke. He was so close that the painful buzz in Ren’s skull because unbearable, even though he had managed to ignore it until now.
- Step back, Kylo Ren mumbled, almost begging.
- Does it hurt? Hux asked.
Ren didn’t grant him with an answer and turned his face away.  Hux’ finger gently touched his chin to make him look in his eyes. He whispered :
- Let me help you.
Ren felt Hux’ mouth take his, and he closed his eyes. His brain was buzzing louder than ever but the heat rising from his crotch diverted him. Hux’ hand layed on his genitals, over his black shirt. Kylo Ren felt himself grow hard and the buzz inside his skull seemed to correspondingly decrease. A tongue slid on his lips and he opened his mouth. Hux had his tongue pierced, a cold and hard bead that toyed inside his mouth and that he wanted to feel on his body. This thought aroused him. He flinched and took a step back to lean on the table behind him. The General’s left hand had seized the back of his head, as he deeply kissed him ; his right hand rubbed his penis, up and down, though his clothes. The headache and become a peripheral issue. His hardened penis almost hurt and with a swift move, he grabbed the general’s ass and squeezed him. He felt his hardness rub his own and a moan escaped his lips. This sound seemed to arouse Hux, who broke off their kiss and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. Without breaking eye contact, he slid both hands on his torso, above the black shirt, and slowly kneeled in front of him. Ren bit his lips in perspective. He bit one finger of his glove and pulled it off with his teeth before dropping it on the floor, before racking his fingers in his lover’s red hair. Hux’ face was just facing his crotch, and his long fingers were operating Ren’s zipper and belt. After a short time that felt like an eternity to Ren, Armitage Hux’ hand grabbed his burning cock, as Kylo moaned again. Hux’ tongue slid along his shaft in slow up and down strokes, then without warning, he covered it with his mouth. Kylo tilt his head back. It felt amazing. His whole body was completely focused on the feeling of Hux’s mouth around his cock, and everything else vanished in a blur. Hux was going up and down on his shaft, sliding the bead of his tongue around the penis head, and Ren clenched his left hand on the table he was holding.
His right hand was gripping the General’s hair and moved along with him with jerky movements. Hux resisted his instructions and Ren felt pleasure in that struggle, his wrist against this neck, his cock against this mouth, and he felt a pressure rising from inside his crotch. Deeper, stronger. Suddenly Hux bit and Ren roared as he released his hand completely. His burning cock sprung from the general’s lips who gave him a dark gaze. Ren immediately grabbed his hair, with both hands, and sticked his lover’s face against his slick, hard cock.
- Finish the job. Ren said.
- I don’t take orders. Hux hissed between his clenched teeth.
- Then do it because you fucking want to. Ren creaked, releasing both hands.
- Fuck you, Hux said, but he took the penis back inside his mouth and resumed the movement.
With both hands, he grabbed Ren’s ass through the leather pants, and Ren spread his tights, holding himself the the table. The feeling was divine. The headache had vanished and his body felt so relaxed at this sole feeling that he could have come, yet the burning lips of Hux on his cock were irresistible. He moaned and finally came, bluntly, jerking semen in his lover’s mouth. Hux swallowed and stood up as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. He seeked Kylo’s mouth and kissed him deeply, in a passionate exchange of semen and saliva.
Kylo was relaxed, eyes shut, and negligently zipped up his pants. Hux stopped him by grabbing his penis.
- We’re not done, Hux said.
Kylo tightened his fingers around Hux’ wrist until he released his cock and pushed him away.
- I am. Snoke is expecting me.
Hux tried to protest, but Kylo shoved him away with a shoulder punch, straightened his clothes and picked up his helmet. The General watched him walk away, powerless, and seized his own hard cock through his pants.
- Fuck you, Ren! He screamed, furious.
Kylo gave him a slight wave of his hand as an answer, without a look back.
Yet he stopped at the door and looked above his shoulder :
- See you tonight, General.
- I don’t take orders! Hux screamed on principle, but he already knew he’d be there, available for Kylo Ren, that very night.
Once again, Ren had been manipulating him from A to Z.

New project I'm toying with. Whacha think, folks?
I'm tagging this with Reylo tags because that's the main focus of my blog and people there read my Ao3 Reylo Fanfic.
Here is an original story I'm working on.
***
He's like a male Molly Ringwald.
That was my first impression of Ben Johnson when he completed his first season on my favorite television show. In his rookie year as a celebrity his character had come on the show as the slightly odd and geeky but still charming and rather attractive in an unusual way that you could spend hours pondering without ever being able to explain the how or why of.
The next year he finished the season by winning the heart of the beautiful Esmeralda Crain, the central "beautiful young focal character" of the ensemble driven primetime drama that I watch with an almost religious fervor.
The show, "Finding Me" is an hour every week from June to September of pure unadulterated drama about a dozen just out of college, young people finding their way in the world. It's shot like a 'reality' show, but it's fully scripted and jam packed with amazingly talented actors and actresses. I can't get enough of it.
By season three I was blogging about it on three different social media websites, spending every second of my free time obsessing over the show. In truth, I spent my unfree time obsessing quietly while I check bags and wave a metal detector wand around people at my local airport.
Season 7 has just wrapped up and somewhere along the way, I fell head over heels for the character Miles Adams. I tuned in every week after season three just to see Miles. The other 10 people on the show were great, but Miles and Esmeralda stole the show in season three… and for me, in my obsessive frenzy, they became the pair I loved the absolute most. They were perfect together.
The actors who played them - Ben Johnson and Emmy Star (no, that's really her birth name, I googled her) were superb. By season 4 they were each making four times more money per episode than anyone else in the cast.
Of course, when they flew to vegas during the season four finale and got married during the airing of Miles and Esmeralda's own vegas elopement the internet exploded with the impact of an atom bomb.
Some people were flat out convinced that it had been a sham, a publicity stunt, a way to make the show more money so that it could afford Season five's pay raises for the entire cast, including doubling Ben and Emmy's already impressive salaries.
I never believed that. No way. Ben and Emmy, or Bemmy as I call them, have waaaay too much chemistry onscreen and off to be faking it. No, the show making more money was a natural consequence of having the most talented young cast ever assembled in one show. Period. End of discussion. Fin. I will not hear another word about it.
Of course, in every fandom you find trolls… With six couples, a lot of cross-relationship sexual tension, and a highly diverse cast season seven Finding Me's social media following is a breeding ground for fandom trolls. We real fans call them "antis." They whine endlessly about the show but for some reason wont just stop watching it. I do not get those people. They annoy me.
So here I am, in my cheap polyester uniform with my shiney little badge and clunky black patton leather steal toed boots, daydreaming about Miles' gorgeous, fiery, brown-eyed smoulder while I wave through a pretty blond that towered over me by a good six inches.
Mile's eyes have the most intense quality about them. He can literally boil freezing water with a single stare. I'm not sure at exactly what point he went from "geeky" to "omfg I totally would trade my soul for just one night with him" but I think it might have been the season two smouldering hot ten second stare down while stalking toward Esmeralda with pure unfiltered, unbridaled lust rippling off of him like heat waves off desert sand. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the moment.
Just the thought of that moment is enough to make me blush as I blink away the image. I glance up at the guy who'd just set off the metal detector as I pass the wand across his chest. I freeze. My brain crashes against my skull and I stand there gaping like a fish out of water as Miles Adams stares back at me in annoyance.
I blink.
No, not Miles Adams.
Ben Johnson.
Ben "omfg" Johnson is scowling at me. In the flesh. At MY airport! In Real Life!
I watched in fascination as the annoyed look melted off his face and alarm flashed ahead of concern that gave way to amusement and finally turned to exasperation.
"Breathe." He rolled his eyes and said, half mockingly - half coaxingly with a slight grin on his lips.
In Dolby Digital his voice caresses you like tattered silk, in real life, it's more like a cat's tongue.
His eyes widen and he half reaches for me. "No, really, you need to breathe."
Oh, god. His voice... is talking to me!
"Shit!" He hissed as his face, that incredibly expressive face of his, swam before my eyes.
I blinked and found myself looking up into his frowning face.
"Dear god, not again." Came an annoyed female voice. "They're never going to stop doing that if you keep catching them."
Ben turned a quick scowl toward someone above my head then looked back and asked me, "Are you alright?"
That's when three things hit me at once.
One, I'm cradled in his arms, across his lap as he squats down in front of the metal detectors.
Two, his eyes are prismatic, a totally different shade, ranging from black to amber-yellow depending on how the light hits them.
Three, I'm making a total ass of myself by continuing to stare at him - dumbstruck and drooling.
Reality set in with the suddenness and force of a high speed mid-air collision.
I apologized profusely as I fought my way through 10 tons of humiliation and panic to get to my feet. My mortification could not have been more complete… until I chanced a glance upward and spotted a trickle of blood oozing down his chin.
I have never wanted to cry so badly in my life.
Without another word I took off at a dead run for the nearest ladies room where I immediately screamed "Fuck!" at the top of my lungs. That didn't help much so I did it a few more times before I began ugly-crying my eyes out.
It took me a good hour to get control of myself enough to clock out amidst pitying glances and some snickering from my fellow security guards. I kept my eyes straight ahead as I walked briskly out to my car.
I'd been at Bluegrass for five years. I'd seen celebrities before. Admittedly, not many… but some! Johnny Depp once came through my line! I was calm, cool and professional. No sweat. Under no circumstances have I ever lost my shit over anything or anyone like I did with Ben Johnson. Not even close.
I called in and talked my supervisor into arranging two weeks worth of my accrued vacation for the immediate future. It was too easy. He had obviously been appraised of my blunder.
I hung up and cried myself to sleep at four o'clock in the afternoon.
The next two weeks were more of the same. Log in to check my blogs, weep as soon as I see a picture of him, log out and cry myself to sleep. Wake up, go pee, see myself in the mirror and burst into tears. Pull a burrito out of the microwave, set it on a paper plate, burst into tears.
About midway through the second week I got rip roaring drunk... at home… alone… with a half gallon tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and a half gallon bottle of Smirnoff.
It tasted terrible when it made an encore appearance later on.
As I lay there next to the toilet, in the fetal position, my hair wet from both sweat and vomit, I pondered my life and it's recent trials and tribulations.
The most comforting thought came to me as the room spun like a drunken tilt-a-whirl. It doesn't actually matter what happened when Ben Johnson unexpectedly jumped out of my fantacy and into my reality… I'd never see him again.
Another highly comforting thought was that my co-workers will surely have moved back to their favorite gossip topic, Shirleen Dabney's love life, and forgotten all about me fainting and then splitting the lip of my favorite celebrity by now. Surely. It's not like they're blogging about it. Shirleen's love life is way more interesting than lil ole me.
Shirleen is a tall, leggy, redhead with surgically enhanced ta tas and an ass like a fetishist porn star. She's been picked up and dropped off to work by twelve different men in the three months she's been at Bluegrass. Twelve! Different! Men! That works out to one a week. The security room is abuzz with gossip about her every second that she's not in it… and dead silent when she is.
With two more Shir-boys to gossip about, no doubt my little incedent with a t.v. star is long forgotten.

Chapter 1 AO3 Link
Chapter 2 AO3 Link
                                               Chapter 2 - Spring 🌷
Ben sat on a bar stool in his parents' kitchen, working on his laptop. He stopped typing, raised his arms and stretched--instantly feeling less tense. He grabbed his warm cup of coffee from off the counter and finished it. He sighed as he looked ahead at the back yard. He grinned slowly, watching his dad flip burgers on the grill next to the gazebo. He saw him give a half-smile to his mom and Aunt Amilyn. The two were on an outdoor rattan sectional sofa. His mom was sat up with Amilyn's head on her lap, massaging her head lovingly. They were talking to each other until his father said something he couldn't hear. His mom nodded at him with a grin and said something which made his dad laugh. Ben looked away, glad they were all happy. He retrieved his phone from the counter and saw a new text from Rey. He smiled, not caring if anyone saw him. He started to text back, sighed happily, missing her.
Rey sat on a bistro chair next to her small round black patio table, on her balcony, facing Alderaan park. It was a lovely day to take a stroll through the park, see and smell the gardens full of blooming flowers if only she could, she thought. She stretched her legs in front of her, lifted them, and placed them on the other bistro chair where the sunlight instantly warmed her skin. She reached for her favorite mug filled with her freshly made strawberry and blueberry smoothie and took a sip. It tasted so refreshing she wiggled her dark blue colored toes she painted the previous night. She looked to her left and saw Ben's vacant balcony separated only by a glass divider. His linen love seat, patio table, and easel remained unmoved for almost two months. Her phone chimed with a new text message. She grabbed it and wrinkled her nose, reading Ben's text. She sighed--resting her head against her sliding door, missing him.
More Than 3 Months Ago
Between Christmas and New Year's Rey got her apartment settled before she started her job at the city library in early January. She purchased essential furniture: A bed frame and mattresses, a small couch, and bar stools for her surprising long kitchen counter. She didn't feel the need to buy a table for the dining area when she could fit four chairs at the counter. She instead used the dining space as a mini office, purchasing a blue shabby chic desk and matching chair. She didn't see anything to suggest her apartment was haunted unless she dismissed that one time the light in the kitchen randomly turned on in the middle of the night when she couldn't sleep and ate cereal. Other than that, she was enjoying her new life in the city.
It was the morning after New Year's Day as Rey finished eating her fruit bowl when she heard a knock at the door. She walked over and peeked through the peephole. Her heart leaped at seeing Ben. They had spent one morning out together for breakfast just a day after Christmas and since then were friendly if they ran into each other, waiting for the elevator. He even helped the people that moved in her furniture. She briefly saw him on New Year's Day when he came back from a party hosted by his friend, Tai. He had invited her and she wanted to say yes, but didn't--insisting she had other plans, but really, she saw the city's fireworks from her balcony and watched rerun episodes of a favorite show on her new television. At the time, she didn't want to move too fast in getting to know Ben as she recognized he was different from other guys she dated.
She opened the door revealing Ben with a worried expression. He said in a rush, "I wanted towarnyou that my momandAuntAmilyn are coming over."
Rey raised her brows, getting half of what he said. "What?"
"I'm sorry." He genuinely looked apologetic as he sighed, and ran his fingers through his hair, nervously.
"Why?" Rey felt like she couldn't get any other words out since she was caught off guard.
Ben shrugged. "They unexpectedly came over for breakfast and now they're interested in decorating your apartment. I'm sorry."
"Oh!" Rey's eyes widened. She didn't know how to respond.
Ben pointed toward the inside of her apartment. "I tried to text you earlier--to warn you so you can leave or—"
Rey groaned, closing her eyes as she leaned into her door. "I forgot to plug it in last night."
"Ah." Ben crossed his arms.
At that second there was a new voice in the conversation: "Rey!" Leia said from behind Ben as she put an arm around her son's waist and squeezed him, making him groan slightly. "How are you this morning?" She asked with a bright smile. Amilyn also appeared, standing on the other side of Ben looking inside her apartment with an inquisitive look on her face.
"Great, thank you, Mrs. Solo." Rey saw Ben look gigantic next to his mom. It made her grin.
"No need for formalities." Leia walked towards Rey, quickly hugging her as did Amilyn, who followed behind. "Call me, Leia," she said, walking in the living room looking around at the nearly empty room.
Rey shrugged at Ben, who was still in the hallway. She gestured with her head for him to come inside. He mouthed I'm sorry as he walked by her. She nodded, giving him a small smile.
Leia walked a few steps into the kitchen as she said, "We just wanted to pop by and..."
"See if we can help you decorate your place. Ben mentioned you start work soon," Amilyn said as she gave Rey a wink.
"It would be a gift from us to you," Leia said.
Ben rolled his eyes, looking agitated. "Mom..." He interrupted or tried to.
Leia walked back to Rey and gently squeezed her arm. "We're just grateful that Ben has a neighbor like you and someone who can be—"
"Mom, stop," Ben said in annoyance. He was standing on the other side of Rey with his arms crossed.
It was as if Leia didn't hear him as she continued to say, "You remember at Christmas when he looked happy singing carols while Luke played the piano? Ami, when has that ever happened?"
"Never!" Amilyn yelled from the kitchen. Ben scoffed.
Rey chuckled and crossed her arms, bumping her elbow with his. Ben sighed. "Did I mention I was sorry about this?" He asked, his dark eyes looking into hers. She saw the intensity in his look and she could tell he was distraught over this.
She put her hand over his arm. He wore a dark sweatshirt, but she felt the strength of his arm--the muscle which made her take a breath in before she reassured him, "It's okay, Ben."
"I know what we're going to do." Leia walked outside to the balcony. She turned and said in a matter of fact tone, "Rey, give us until this early evening and we'll have everything ready."
"We'll be done by five," Amilyn estimated as she walked towards Leia with her iPad in hand, typing.
Rey looked at Ben with a look of disbelief. "Are they serious?" she whispered.
"Always," he said with a heavy sigh.
"Go see a movie or dine at Maz's restaurant. She added a few new meals on the menu," Leia said as she retrieved her phone from her purse and started to type away.
"The garlic parmesan pasta is divine," Amilyn said, not looking up from her iPad as she made the chef's kiss gesture.
Ben's phone rang, surprising them both. He retrieved it from his jeans pocket, looked at it, and grimaced. He looked back at Rey. "It's someone from work—I have to take this." He looked back at his mom and Amilyn and shook his head. "As I said, they're too much," He looked uneasy as he placed his hand on her arm before walking away.
Rey felt the warmth from his touch as she saw him walk to the hallway talking about the design of a website. She looked back at his mom and aunt on the balcony and walked with determination to them. "Leia, I'm so appreciative but I don't have the money to pay you back. I just got some furniture that I know will work for me so..." She gave them a reassuring smile.
Leia looked up from her phone and put it back into her purse. She walked just two steps to reach Rey and took her hands in hers. "I promise we will keep your furniture in place. We just want to help and maybe one day you can pay back the favor to someone else." Rey felt trust as she stared in her soft brown eyes that resembled her son's. Leia smiled which made Rey smile in return.
"And we're good at this." Amilyn boasted as she continued to type on her iPad.
Leia still held Rey's hands as she said, "I'm sorry if we inconvenienced you, Rey, and we understand if you want us to leave."
Other than Ben helping her when she first moved and even inviting her to spend Christmas with his family when she didn't have anyone, she had never had someone help her just because. She realized the genuine kindness in this family ran strong. With a smile, she said, "I look forward to seeing what you two do."
After Rey and Ben browsed a bookstore, took a stroll in the freezing outdoors through the snow-filled park, and had lunch at Maz's restaurant, Rey saw as promised the newly added décor work with all her furniture. A dark wood coffee table was placed in front of her dark couch. A floor lamp and an end table were alongside one side of the couch. There were mirrors placed in each room. Different scenery and floral prints were hung on the walls. An end table with a lamp was placed in her bedroom. A blender, pots and pans, and a spice rack were added to her kitchen.
Out on the balcony, there was a black bistro table and two chairs on the patio along with an umbrella. Succulents, ficus plants, geraniums, and orchids were placed all around her apartment. She touched the petal of one orchid and felt it was indeed real and not fake. She hadn't nurtured many plants before but was ready to take care of them. They made the apartment livelier, Rey thought. That evening she made everyone dinner filled with bruschetta and mac n cheese with veggies. Rey found herself getting more attached to Ben and his family and was starting to feel like she was where she was supposed to be--she held on to that feeling.
Soon enough, Rey got in the rhythm of her apartment, neighborhood, and her new job position. At work, she instantly clicked with two of her co-workers: Rose and Jannah. At the apartment, she and Ben had lunch every weekend after a busy work week, either at hers or his place. The more she talked to Ben, the more she was feeling something for him.
During their lunch before Valentine's day, Ben made a sausage, cheese, and spinach quiche. Rey took a bite and closed her eyes in bliss.
"Does that mean it's good?" Ben asked and grinned.
"Fuck yes," Rey laughed, covering her mouth. "Sorry."
Ben laughed. "Glad you like it." He took a bite and nodded at her. "Yeah, there's not going to be any leftovers."
Rey already took a second slice from the dish. She raised her fork and said, "Correct." She looked at the easel on his balcony. With her fork, she pointed at it. "Are you working on new art?"
Ben nodded. "It's of the park," he said, modestly. He immediately went back to eating.
Rey gave him a sly grin. "When do you think I will be able to see this new art piece by artist, Ben Solo," she said with a smile.
He laughed and rolled his eyes. "Maybe...never," he said, raising a brow.
"Oh, come on!"
He shrugged. "Probably by next weekend. I'll bring it over to your apartment."
"Yes!" Rey said with excitement.
Ben looked at Rey and thought she looked genuinely happy to see his art. He looked away and took another bite of quiche. He then realized next weekend was Valentine's Day and he had been wanting to ask Rey on a proper date. Perhaps—his cell rang just then. He looked at it and put it back down. "It's Amilyn," he said.
"Oh! How is she?" Rey asked then drank orange juice from one of Ben's expensive-looking crystal goblet.
Ben shrugged. "Fine, I guess. She and my mom are always busy so—" The phone rang again. "Ok, I better get this."
Rey nodded.
Ben answered, "Hey, Au--What?" Ben's brows furrowed. "When? ... Which hospital? ... Okay, I'm leaving right now...umm..." He moved his mouth one side then the other. "Did you see him? ... Okay, yeah, bye." He put down his phone and stared at his plate of half-eaten quiche.
"What happened?"
At the sound of his name he looked at Rey and said as if confused, "My dad was by himself ...in a plane accident. He needs surgery and I need to go to the hospital." He stood up and walked down the hallway to his room. He came back less than a minute later and looked around the living room. "My keys--I don't know where they are."
Rey looked behind her at the hook near his front door where his keys were. She walked, grabbed them, and gave them to Ben.
He looked surprised as he held the keys in his hand. "Right." He looked around the room again and said, "Umm...my phone." He grabbed his wallet from the pocket of his dark jeans and looked puzzled. "Not my phone." He put his wallet back in his pocket.
Rey looked at his phone, left on the counter. She grabbed the phone and gave it to him. He looked confused as he said, "Thank you."
"Ben, you're in shock. Let me drive you to the hospital."
Ben raised his brows. "You'll drive me?" He looked genuinely surprised, again.
"Of course." She gently put her hand on his arm. He looked down at her hand then his eyes searched her face as if trying to find something. Rey tried to give him an encouraging smile as she walked with him towards the front door, locking it behind them.
As Rey drove to the hospital she made it a habit to check on Ben during red lights. His eyes were always closed--his jaw was clenched.
When they got to the hospital waiting room, Leia held onto her son as Ben had his arms around her. Rey heard him whisper to his mom, "He'll be fine—He always is." Rey smiled, touched seeing Ben so affectionate with his family.
Later that evening as Rey and Ben were back at the apartments she opened the door to hers. She looked to her left and saw Ben still standing in front of his door. "Ben?"
He looked at her with an almost worried expression. He walked a couple of steps to her. "I'm thinking of packing a bag of clothes and staying with my parents for a while--just until he's out of the hospital and recuperates at home. I don't know-- maybe if I was there more it would help." He shrugged.
Rey stepped closer to Ben where there were less than a few inches between them. "What can I do?"
Ben half-smiled. "You've done so much already—driving me to the hospital when I couldn't get myself together. You being there--it helped... thanks, Rey."
"Even though the timing was not ideal it was nice to meet your dad's friends, Chewie and Lando. They told so many stories when you were younger." She wrinkled her nose in mischief.
Ben looked like he was turning red in embarrassment. He ran his fingers through his hair. "Oh, yeah, like what?" He shook his head. "Never mind."
Rey chuckled. "Anyway, if you need anything, please let me know." She realized they were close--very close. She leaned forward just a tad. The hallway lighting was dim as if it was going to go out any minute.
Ben looked down at her hands. Slowly he touched her fingertips with his. "Rey, earlier I wanted...um..."
Rey looked down at their hands touching. His touch felt warm--she wanted more. She held his hand, stroking his skin with her thumb. She looked up and met his dark eyes. "Yes?"
Their faces were close enough where Ben could smell her strawberry shampoo. He felt her soothing caress on his hand and wanted to ask her out for Valentine's Day but he refrained. He closed his eyes and sighed, feeling it wasn't the right time. If he left now he wouldn't be back for a while, and-- He cleared his throat and didn't let go of her touch as he said, "Let's keep in touch, okay?"
Rey felt that he was going to say something different but nodded, interlocking her fingers with his, and said, "Absolutely."
Texts and phone calls were how Rey and Ben communicated the next few weeks as Valentine's Day came and went. Han was out of the hospital and back in the comfort of his own home, in bed most of the day, with a cast on one leg and one arm. Rey could tell Ben was relieved that his father was almost back to himself just in the more at ease tone of his messages to her. She planned to visit Chandrila during an upcoming weekend but soon enough that became just a wish.
As March rolled in, whispers about the Red Shadow Virus became louder and louder, world-wide. Everywhere, including the city, many were severely sick and some died. It became a tragic pandemic that resembled the Blue Shadow Virus that occurred less than a century ago. A stay-at-home order was enforced, keeping people home except going out for the essentials. Ben continued to stay with his family at home while Rey stayed in her apartment on her own. Instead of talking a few times a week their conversations were daily.
"I'm glad your father is feeling better," Rey said as she made dinner in her kitchen. She had her cell phone on speaker.
"That's the only good news right now. He can be grouchy sometimes but I think he's relieved I'm home—Mom too." He sighed. "It's a tragedy what's going on."
"It's heartbreaking—watching the news and listening to the loved ones of those that have passed away..." Rey felt her eyes moisten remembering what she saw on the news just an hour earlier. "How's your mom?"
"She's been redecorating half of the house and making sure my dad is healing well. She's keeping busy, as always. How are you holding up?"
Rey stirred vegetables that were sizzling in the pan. "I went shopping earlier this morning so I'm good on groceries for a while and I'm able to work remotely, for now."
"Same here."
"Yeah and a couple of days a week, Jannah, Rose, and I have been making food deliveries to first responders."
Ben smiled, knowing Rey is someone that wants to help any way she can. He admired that about her. "That's great. Rey, I—" He stopped talking.
Rey furrowed her brows. "Ben? You there?"
"Yeah... What I wanted to say was that I'm going to miss seeing you these next few weeks." He gulped.
Rey smiled, glad he felt the same as her. "I feel the same."
"Yeah?"
"Mmm." Rey took a breath before she admitted, "I miss seeing you every morning, taking the elevator together, and having our weekly lunch—it's something I look forward to."
She didn't hear him for a few seconds and feared she might have said too much but she then heard him say, "Ditto." Rey grinned.
Present – Early Afternoon
Ben was in his car arriving back to his parents' home after making a grocery run and other errands for his parents. He turned off his car and saw the garage door close behind him. He took off his mask, got out of the car, and started to bring groceries to the kitchen, cleaning the fruit and vegetables, before putting them in the fridge. He looked outside at the gazebo. It was quiet but he knew his parents and Aunt Amilyn was home. He shook his head and retrieved more groceries from his car.
Minutes later, he went upstairs to check on his parents to see if there was anything they needed before he took a shower, worked on his laptop, and perhaps text Rey. At that thought, he grinned and opened his parents' bedroom door. "I'm back, do you need anything else?" He asked before his eyes enlarged at what he saw before him. I should have knocked, he thought.
"You know there's something I didn’t know about my family."
Rey was lying on her bed wearing comfy pajamas as she looked up at the ceiling. She had Ben on speakerphone next to her on a pillow. She leaned on her right side and said, "What?"
Ben was in his room, sitting up on his bed, his feet on the ground. He was holding his phone at his ear. "My parents are like a couple with Amilyn."
Rey smiled. "You didn’t know?"
Ben gasped. "Wait--you knew?!"
"I did see some sort of intimacy between them in the kitchen at Christmas. I thought you knew."
"I found out earlier today after coming back from the market. I went to check in on them in their room and saw my dad asleep without his shirt on one side of the bed and the other side... My mom and Amilyn—" He gulped before he continued, "Um—They were making out, hands everywhere, and they were unclothed, the duvet at their feet and--I ran--feeling like an idiot." He sighed, covering his eyes with his arm.
Rey laughed. "Oh my god, did you at least talk afterward?"
"Yeah. I know it's their business but I wished they would have told me a long time ago so I could have been happy for them starting back then instead of now." He sighed. "I'm probably not making sense."
"You are--When I saw them together it looked like all three were in a happy relationship."
"I learned it's been going on since my mom and Amilyn met in college and then my mom met my dad and--Well, they're happy together and so am I. Aunt Amilyn always felt like family since I was a kid so I'm glad they can be comfortable together in front of me instead of feeling like have had to hide it." He remembered earlier that evening as his dad was at the bbq grilling burgers and his mom and Amilyn were in the gazebo, how content they all looked together. He smiled, wishing he had more memories like that.
Rey stretched her legs before curling near the phone. "Why didn't they tell you back then?"
"My mom didn't think I would understand but at thirty-two years old, I'm glad they can trust me," he scoffed.
"You're thirty-two?" Rey asked.
"Yes, why? Too old for you?" He then stopped talking as if he said more than he meant to.
"Ben?"
"Hmmm?"
"You're the perfect age for me and I don’t know about you but I miss you." She wrinkled her nose and raised her brows, feeling a rush of relief in telling him her true feelings.
Without a pause, he said, "I miss you too, Rey." He sighed. "Wow, I can't believe we've been waiting this long to tell each other that."
"I know," Rey said. "Ben?"
"Yeah?"
She felt bold when she asked, "What do you miss about me?" She didn't realize but she held her breath waiting for him to answer.
Ben chuckled. "That's easy--Your smile whenever we see each other and when you wear your hair in that unique triple bun hairstyle and I miss talking to you face to face."
"So, what are we going to do?"
"Once this stay-at-home order is lifted, I want to take you on an official first date."
"I want that too, badly."
Another month went by as Rey was at her desk on her laptop corresponding with Rose concerning work when she heard Ben's door open. She immediately ended her chat on teams and closed her laptop.
She stepped outside to her balcony and saw the sun just start to set. She turned to her left and finally saw him. He took off his dark mask and placed it on the patio table. It had been three months since she last saw him. She felt such emotion in seeing him. "Ben!" She walked to the glass divider.
Ben turned her way, smiled, and walked to his side of the glass divider. "It's so good to see you, Rey," he said. He looked at her face, her hazel eyes, her lips, her hair which had grown longer. "You grew your hair out," he remarked.
Rey ran her fingers through her brown hair. She nodded. "Thought it was time."
"Looks nice." He gulped, moving his mouth one way then the other.
"You look nice too." She licked her bottom lip, seeing his hair tied in a tiny ponytail; it looked different and she was intrigued. He was dressed in dark pants and a dark gray sweater that fitted him just right. He had a couple of days of scruff on his face and with it, he looked very handsome. "It's a surprise seeing you here."
Ben nodded. "My dad is feeling back to normal and--I just wanted to give them their privacy." He shrugged as he next said, "I wanted to get back to my art and—you. Even as we're separated by this glass, I just want to be near you."
He lifted his hand and placed it on the glass. Rey raised her hand and placed it opposite his. "Same," she said. They stared at each other making sure not to look away.
