The age was old when Ymir (Twin) lived; from Ymir’s flesh the earth was formed, and from his sweat (i.e. blood) the sea, boulders from his bones, trees from his hair, and from his skull the sky.
First two lines are from Vǫluspá 3, the rest is from Grímnismál 40

Völuspá, Retold
Spirit breatheth Odin
Mind giveth Hoenir
Blood shareth Lodur
Another excellent job, spake Odin
Three about to leave
I’ll catch up thee, saith Lodur
I have to pee
Leaves Odin and Hoenir
Heaves a sigh, Loki
Finally
See guys, he says
My love language is
Follows a snap of fingers
Giving gifts
Sets a flame on their timber
Once cold, now an everlasting ember
His voice is warm like honey
Our little secret, aye?
I saw what happened to the last guy
Who gave some fire to your kind
Sighs
Go now, have some fun
Be great, be terrible
Saith the firebringer
His eyes are warm like amber
Gifts a wink and disappear

Fenrir howls terribly before the doors to Hel; the wolf will break its bonds and run. I know much wisdom, I see deep in the future, all the way to Ragnarok, a dark day for the gods.

IM gay
Giant sentient warship and her small sentient transport ship girlfriend. Absolute titan of a ship built for war and killing but ever so gentle with Val because she cares about her so so much. Who wouldn’t love to have a big girlfriend who shoots people out of the sky for you if they’re mean. i would love to have that. (via @spiralsofeyesandinterests)
Marquis de All The Knives/Dr Pilchard:
the last 2 people who have been able to wreck the mech's shit in any capacity. in a mechs rp server where this ship has its own plotline and its amazing
their shipname is dr. knives. theyre both fuckshit imperfect immortals. i write them with a friend and marquis "markus" de all the knives is a vampire drag fag who's buff and hairy and dr sebastian pilchard in an absolute wet cat of an astrobiologist who seeks out the mechs for Proper Immortality so he can spend eternity with his husband. carmilla turns him into a zombie with the same functions as king cole's cannibalism-fueled immortality. mark needs blood and bastian needs flesh. cmon. cmon they make a eucharist together. theyre soulmates. please [insane]

So, last year, I wrote a 135 verse poem entitled The Völva's Haikus — Essentially a rewriting of Völupsá in what's typically regarded as the "haiku metre".
I'm hoping to publish the poem in full later this year, but until then, here's an excerpt from it.

As I mentioned before when it was still in progress, I made a biggest one so far
Tumblr media
It's an A3 sized lino print. It took me about a week to draft it, then erase, then draft again and so on back and forth, in the meantime carving parts I felt okay with and hoped it will turn out great. I guess it did after all.

I was unhappy with the results of rolling ink so I used a sponge.

Audio
(The Golden Lyre)  ~ Maris Bergrune
These are songs that use stanzas of Old Norse poetry - written down starting in the 1200s in Old Icelandic - set to music. I didn't try to be traditional in the music style; so the styles don't reflect any particular tradition. The idea was to make the poems, starting with the Völuspá (Prophesy of the Seeress), more accessible to people not familiar with the genre, and help me memorize the poems in the process. At first I was thinking I would just do a few stanzas, but it soon became clear I was going to do the entire poem. I am almost done with the 64 stanzas or so of the Völuspá. These are some of my preliminary recordings that will be refined and published.

Worms from the rotting remains of Ymir became the cardinal directions
Tumblr media
Odin and his two brothers were in fear that the sky would fall upon them.
Luckily, worms had started to slither out of the rotting remains of the recently murdered Ymir and turned into dwarves.
The brothers grabbed 4 of these newly developed dwarves and had them hold up the sky.
They became known as Nordri (north), Sundri (south), Austri (east) and Vestri (West).

✨My precious 🥀 A few weeks ago, my beloved friend @ateliersentulia made me the most amazing gift : a customed book binding of one of the most precious text to my pagan heart, the Poetic Edda. It’s now the most sacred book I own (except for Dodu & Gros, my Book of Shadows & Grimoire) and it has a very special place in my craft and heart. Thank you again, my dear, you have no idea how meaningful this beauty is to me 🖤💫📚 #book #grimoire #edda #poeticedda #norsemythology #skald #norsegods #havamal #voluspa #sacredbook #mythology #scandinavianmythology #odin #freyja #volva #asatru #pagan #heathen #paganism #custombook #handmade #altar #paganaltar #paganism #norsepaganism #runes #norsepagan #norserunes #futhark #futharkrunes #norsewitch https://www.instagram.com/p/CjP8qiQqL-i/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

has anyone else noticed that the part from ithlinne's prophecy "the era of the sword and axe is nigh, the era of the wolf's blizzard" sounds similar to stanza 44 of the voluspa "an age of swords, shields will be cloven, an age of winds, an age of wolves"
