I’m so excited to announce that my Indigenous Americans Folklore Romance Series premieres on January 15th! 🥳

The first 12 installments (the 15th and 30th of every month ((save February when it’ll be the 28th)) ) will be about the Thunderbird. I know a lot of you think you know what they’re all about, but their mythology varies across all of North America, and I’m so excited to get to write a novella about them, sharing what I always read and heard about them.

The first installment of every series will be available here on Tumblr, but the rest will be only shared as a tier on my Ko-fi and Patreon. Once each project is finished, I will be selling the novellas on KDP. I hope to by next year increase the amount of projects going on at once, but I’m taking it slow this year so that way I can deliver on what I promise ❤️

Disclaimer: I’d also like to let everyone know that I’m not an expert on Osage nor any other interpretation of the Thunderbirds. I have studied Indigenous folklore since I was very young, and continued to in college and beyond, but I’m not an expert. Please take this all with a grain of salt, just as you do with Greek or Egyptian mythology inspired works. I might be wrong, or embellish to fit my stories’ narratives. I also might not be drawing inspiration from a nation that you’re familiar with.

Thunder Bird Final Thoughts

Going forward there are few things that I would add to the game to increase enjoyment. The first thing would be to add a proper model for the enemy so that the players know what is attacking them. I would also add another type of enemy that would hang at the top of the screen for a short time and throw projectiles at the player. This would increase the challenge of the game.

Along with this, I would like to implement the speed increase mechanic mentioned in the elevator pitch. The buff would be gained by collecting an item (food) and the buff will slowly decrease over time. The pickup will appear periodically allowing the player to stay 'buffed' providing that they do not miss it when it appears.

To incentivise replays of the game a scoreboard and timer are crucial. The timer and scoreboard will allow players to see how their performance matches up to that of other players.

EXTRA POST - ASSIGNMENT 2 FINAL DESIGN

Overall I am quite pleased with final product of my one page and sell sheet. I did find the visual side challenging as I am not the most artistic person but I think they look appealing enough. The design of the sell sheet in particular incorporates art from the game as well as some external material that I used as inspiration. I believe the content included in the documents clearly highlights all of the necessary features required and is delivered in a readable manner. The one page does look a little bit bland but as the more information heavy document I focused on the quality of the content over the overall visual appeal.

okay i got an idea, do you think this works?

sages past:

fire = goron water = zora wind = rito thunder = gerudo spirit = mineru light = rauru time = sonia shadow = / earth = / - ((ganondorf)) (the plan wasnt yet finished so the search for someone suitable was still ongoing when the end started)

sages present: fire = yuno (fire boom thing) water = sidon (long range attack/ or just adding element on weapon + damage boost) wind = tulin (wind gust) thunder = riju (lightning strike) spirit = purah (guardian laser? or sth related to tech) light + time = zelda (she has a shield, you get time gimick) shadow = koga (teleport)

((earth = ganondorf, cataclysm + general tree theme with miasma))

keep in mind i just want to make it seem plausible, theres no way to put anyone into a clear role and im taking the enigma stones as just a power boost to whatever magic someone wields rather than anything super divine (in this game)

so again its just supposed to be believable, i could match koga for almost every single one of the powers tbh, im taking feedback on this of course, but still theres no perfekt solution sadly

Howl's moving castle movie did a lot of things differently, but I think I should point out that Howl had full on cool as hell wizard spells/battles in the book, that, in my humble opinion, beat the whole bird war thing

I mean:

Howl’s arms moved, heavily, as if he was lifting a large weight, until they were raised high above his head. He shouted out a strange word, which was half hidden in a crack of sudden thunder. And the scarecrow went soaring away.

Sophie and Michael looked too, and found a huge cloud boiling and twisting just above the chimney tops. It was black and rotating on itself violently. White flashes that were not quite like light stabbed through the murk of it. But almost as soon as Michael and Sophie arrived, the clot of magic took on the shape of a misty bundle of fighting snakes. Then it tore in two with a noise like an enormous cat fight. One part sped yowling across the roofs and out to sea, and the second went screaming after it.

A ball of pale fire rolled lazily up in the distance. It must have been enormous. The bang that went with it only reached the watchers when the fireball had become a spreading tower of smoke. The line of people all winced at the blunt thunder of it. They watched the smoke spread until it became part of the mist on the marshes. They went on watching after that. But there was simply peace and silence. The wind rattled the marsh weeds, and birds began to dare to cry again.

The room turned dim. Huge, cloudy, human-looking shapes bellied up in all four corners and advanced on Sophie and Michael, howling as they came. The howls began as moaning horror, and went up to despairing brays, and then up again to screams of pain and terror. Sophie pressed her hands to her ears, but the screams pressed through her hands, louder and louder still, more horrible every second. (this is from when howl got mad abt sophie messing with his shampoos and indirectly making him ginger btw)
