I feel that I should clarify, that when I said I'd hunt them for sport, I meant that in a derogatory way because you don't deserve to be treated that way.

Is this regarding the “stop commenting like you assume the author is dead” post? I’m not seeing your addition for some reason (then again, it’s tumblr, so maybe I’ll see it in five years lol).

Your thoughts are appreciated, but tbh all I really want is for people to stop feeling so entitled to authors’ works. I feel like there’s been an uptick on young people coming into the fandom scene and not really understanding that they can’t treat fanfic authors the same way they treat content creators who make income off the content they make — because the fact is that fanfic authors don’t make money, they legally can’t make money, off their work.

In my assumptions, the majority of the people who comment “update now please :)” grew up in the era of content creators, and they therefor have a certain mindset on how these things work, and they don’t understand that it actually doesn’t work that way — not for fanfic authors, and uh, not in real life with real people too (but that’s another issue altogether that deserves its own separate post).

Then again, that’s a generalization and those are in and of themselves unfair. Im sure that there’s plenty of people of the older brackets too who know full well what they’re doing when they word their comments to instigate pressure on the author, and they don’t care. I want people like that to just stop commenting entirely.

I almost quit writing once because of comments like these so even though I’ve by now learned to ignore them, I guess I just feel incredibly protective of all other authors who might get these comments. The creative act of writing for oneself is an enjoyable hobby and they are kind enough to share the results of that hobby for free for anyone to read. It just upsets me that people think they can treat us that way. It’s disheartening.

Anyway, while I don’t condone the violence, that original post I made was a hope that it could reach those people who make comments like that and educate them on why it’s actually NOT flattering or a desirable comment, and hopefully encourage them to stop.

I just hate the thought of an author seeing those comments and thinking of quitting like I once did, or worse: actually quitting and guillotining all the potential wonderful stories that live inside their beautiful, brilliant minds.

The room was big but it wasn’t that big. The fourth movie in their mini-marathon  still had another hour before it finished downloading, so they had both decided to take a nap while it finished. It was still another hour before dinner time and they still had spoils leftover from Marinette’s earlier raid to the dessert section of the buffet a bit earlier.

Not that Adrien had even managed to fall asleep.

Not while he kept glancing over at Marinette’s sleeping form, then staring up at the ceiling desperately hoping that he was right. 

He inhaled slowly. It was time to figure this out, once and for all.

Close proximity was driving him crazy. If she was his Ladybug, it was almost unbelievable that he had managed, not only to find her, but to wake up cuddled up to her every morning.

If she wasn’t, he clearly had a type.  The time was coming all too quickly for him to decide whether or not he should send her back to Paris as soon as they got off this cruise and have Nino chase down the real deal…or if it was time to offer Marinette the guest bedroom at his place permanently.

finally at that age where i'm thinking i should get a tattoo. not bc i feel strongly about it, just seems like a waste not to. i've got so much skin i'm not using

She patted the seat beside her as Kagami sat down beside Luka.

“Are you alright?”

He smiled softly. “Your plan worked perfectly. It was great thinking!”

“Yeah, I’m a genius.” Marinette quickly dismissed. “You look worried, though.”

Adrien sighed. “Alya and Nino didn’t exactly seem pleased to have to deal with each other.”

Marinette’s jaw dropped. “Really? They seemed fine at the bar the other day.”

Adrien nodded. “I was a little surprised.”

Marinette shook her head. “Nino has always been really nice. I went back through my old diary after we ran into each other the other night, and he was sweet enough to ask Alya and I out to the zoo just after she started school there. He was always really quiet but he’d been nice to me. I don’t think I ever heard Alya complain…”

Adrien’s arm shifted behind her. “I think I’ll feel better once we’re on the ship and far enough out that our parents can’t find us for a little while.”
