Mickey and Mandy used to be super into roller blading, Mandy hears about how popular roller derby is in town and decides to try out for the local team

Mickey thinks it’s lame as hell until he goes to a practice and sees how brutal and rough and FUN it is

Ian’s team is practicing on the other side and Mickey definitely doesn’t mind the view as he watches him skate around ramming into people

He feels a certain weirdness about trying out, maybe it makes him feel vulnerable? Something about putting himself out there?

Ian sees him skating at the park and it’s an incredibly adorable sorta meet cute where they’re both skating and trying to show off

Ian dares him to try out

Mickey rolls his eyes but he’s not one to back down from a dare

Something about JJK 236 is bothering me

That fight...was awesome, but it could have gone better.

Other than the fact that I'm currently in mourning over our king's garish demise (don't get me wrong, I do want him to be happy in the afterlife and I'm slowly coming to terms with his death, it's just I can't really process all this yet), I'm still a bit confused how we got here so quickly.

I have countless questions and I know Gege will probably brush this off in the coming chapters and pull yet another meeska-mooska-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse move.

But there is one that lingers in my mind up to this day:

Remember during the Fearsome Womb Arc when Yuji and Sukuna deliberated with each other on the possible resurrection or re-animation of Itadori's body via a deathmatch?

Yeah. We all know Sukuna, the king of all curses, is a master at one-shotting his opponent. Just take a look at what he did to our best rose-colored boy who went from this:

Yeah, yeah, I've read all the “copium” theories from other Gojo fans such as myself who are kinda on the fence when it comes to accepting Gojo's death as being final or not, but, let me bring this back real quick to the matter at hand.

Sukuna went for the head with Itadori. Of course, maybe he did that to shut him up sure, but what I'm getting at is, the head is the singlemost critical point to hit when it comes to sorcery dogfights.

He knows this.

And he probably knows that Gojo Satoru, the darling of the heavens, the uncontested gem of Jujutsu Society, is a reverse cursed technique user. Pretty obvious thing to catch since Satoru had been using RCT the entire showdown to heal his countless critical wounds.

So, Sukuna, in all his centuries of wreaking havoc on the world, should know that the only way to permanently kill a sorcerer who uses RCT is by targeting the head. There were so many instances in this entire deathmatch that we are completely blown away by Sukuna's prowess and overall mastery of Jujutsu.

Can you imagine the amount of practice he's had over the years with other "greatest sorcerer of their generation"s? He knows the ins and outs of Jujutsu like scripture, which is exactly what kept Gojo Satoru on his backfoot for some parts of their skirmish.

Now, here's the thing that's bothering me:

I liken Sukuna as something like a super computer. All that battle experience is readily available to him like some Jujutsu techniques data bank, not to mention, Mahoraga's adaptation clearly gave him yet another advantage in this fight for the title of the strongest.

He knows Satoru Gojo has been frying his brain using Reverse Cursed Technique this entire time, and he's probably seen his former opponents do the same as well. He knows that the only way to kill them is by dealing a devastating blow to the head via decapitation or complete obliteration of the body.

So, my question now is:

Why did he bother cutting Gojo in this particular manner? Why didn't he go straight for the head, since Mahoraga's adaptation blueprint can now allow Sukuna to cut through reality/space itself and therefore bypass Gojo’s infinity non-selectively?

Arrogance now that he's secured his definitive victory? Or the so-called warrior's high? Why leave room for obvious speculation when it could so easily be crushed into smithereens if he just went for the kill?

It's all very confusing. I'll point back to the time when Sukuna swiftly decapitated Itadori.

And I'm willing to bet that that move was deliberate since at the time, Itadori had already been in Jujutsu High for quite some time and Sukuna must have realized that under the tutelage of Gojo and other sorcerers, he must be learning a thing or two about RCT here and there which may have led him to end the fight quickly hence, the resurrection of Yuji Itadori.

Now before, ya'll attack me, I know what manga panel you're gonna throw at me to deconstruct this entire analysis and dismiss it as "copium". So, I'll put this here:

I know it may look like Gojo's entire head has been blown off at this point seeing the pool of blood he's currently lying on. But why is Gege or the editor making the effort to cover Gojo’s head with the text bubble when, logically speaking (and coldly at that), Gojo should be deader than dead? Which he…in theory based on the afterlife sequence, SHOULD be.

And with that whole North/South thing to cap it all off? Though, I wouldn't dwell on that. The wording in that bit was very vague and I’m not really into the habit of over-reading so hehe~

Anyway.

Could it be there's something else in store for Gojo Satoru? Is something else at play here?

Or is this simply a writer's failsafe, just in case Gege wishes to bring back Gojo Satoru so that he'll have a rational explanation as to how that came to be? No one knows. But I think this wasn't some on-the-fly decision by Gege or the editors.

Gege Akutami - though as a writer myself, I find his current choices for the story to be a little questionable with the many gray areas where plotholes could eventually arise - has been deliberate about this story since the beginning, having already mapped out the fate of Fushiguro Megumi.

This panel, the entire chapter, the circumstances we're now currently witnessing is deliberate. And maybe...we haven't seen the last of Satoru yet.

I'll leave this here for everyone to think about. This is all speculation, after all, so don't be mean about it, Jesus. In the meantime, I'll just admire my husband, Suguru, for now and will probably go back to writing my fics~ 💕

Reasons why Lost The Lightning Theif musical is amazing:

1.) "Hades is sending his monsters after us. We're doing something right." This is such amazing insight from Annabeth, and it goes criminally overlooked. We stan the daughter of Athena.

2.) "What did it say?" "Take that bus to Los Angeles." "We're not on the bus." "I know. (to Los Angeles 🐐)" "We blew up the bus!" "I know!(to Los Angeles 🐐)" I love how this is the way they depict the trio: Percy and Annabeth mid-argument on a dangerous quest while Grover is getting a word in when he can lmao.

3.) "Dude, like, listen, please. Half-bloods, to monsters, smell like Mickey D's.🐐" "We smell?!" "Like tacos, or takeout Vietnamese.🐐" Gover, you are freaking this boy out, and it is the funniest shit. Imagine you're on a quest and the way you find out that the monsters you have to fight want to eat you is by your best friend, who is half-goat, telling you that you, to monsters, smell like a happy meal. I'd give up.

4.) "Dude, are you talking to a squirrel?" "Satyr powers...Maybe he can help us." "Really, 'cause I think that seems kind of nuts." Percy, you little shit. This is why we love you.

5.) "You hurt his feelings. Tell the squirrel you're sorry." "I'm not saying sorry to a squirrel." "He's very sorry. Tell the squirrel you're sorry, Percy." this entire interaction makes me love the musical even more because the writers didn't even need to include this, but they did, and I'm so happy.

6.) "Hungry monsters on the ground." "Angry gods are in the sky." "No safe places to be found." "Wanna run! Wanna cry!" These lyrics are so good. It really shines a light on how unfathomably terrifying quest are.

7.) "Can't go back to any home." "Camp is way too far away." "Can't protect my only friends." And, right here, is what each character longs for: Percy wanting a safe place to stay because he's never had one, Annabeth wanting to be at camp because it's the only home she's ever known, and Grover wanting to keep his friends safe because he can't let another half-blood die. These lines won over my heart.

8.) "We're lost. We're just kids. We're alone." And then you remember that, with the exception of Grover, these are literal children who are expected to return Zeus's lightning bolt and save a mortal soul before the world ends. These are impossible stakes, and these kids are forced to handle them. The gods continue to disappoint me.

9.) "Children, come inside!" And then they have to face Medusa??? Fuck that. I want them safe😤😤

Lost is such an amazing song! It really highlights the trio's dynamic is an interesting way, and I highly recommend a listen to this one as well.

Slowly but hey, progress is still progress! It's also nice to see how things could be different if og Ortho was still around.

Where are we? Why are there terrifying ghost like things on the windows? Is this Ramshackle dorm before it became, well, Ramshackle as we know it now? I am so confused now lol– Wait we're in Mickey's room?! How'd we get on the other side of the mirror? We're all having an out of body experience... I dunno how to feel about that tbh.

Silver! My baby's here! And we get to see his UM!

Have I ever told you guys how much I like Malleus' humming? Cause I like it very much. But anyways... we're in cyberspace now...? Oh Ortho! Ortho's awake! Poor baby's trying so hard to wake up his brother.

It's kinda scary seeing how powerful Malleus is. Like, to the point where he can force even Styx issued gear into shut down mode, he's seriously overpowered. Can't wait to see Idia continue the trend and become the hero in this tale, but there's a lot of heart ache we need to go through before we reach that point so, best of luck to all our poor hearts.

I wonder if there's any particular significance to the fact that the time is stopped at 9:18.

So we finally meet Idia's dad, huh? His helmet reminds me of Hades' Helm of Darkness. And we meet his mom as well. A lot of technical stuff and lore drop that went a bit over my head, but it's fine! We'll be fine!

Seems like eccentricity is the middle name of the Shroud family. Then again all geniuses are a bit eccentric. Poor idia, his mom definitely snooped through password protected folders. I would riot if my parents ever snooped through my laptop, so I can't wait for him to wake up and proceed to lose his shit over it lmao

Ortho's Cerberos gear and the two support droids are so cool! The little family moment is cute, but I hope this isn't a death flag for poor Ortho because I've seen too much of that trope– Now we're back with the Prefect! Ngl, Silver's kinda hot when he orders us around.

Dreams are a very tricky subject, so I don't blame Silver for not knowing much about how his UM works. That being said, I'm ready to learn a little more about Sebek, now that we're in his dream. I'm not his biggest fan atm, but... let's see. I'm hoping my perspective on him changes because he seems like a fun character to explore.

.... Something about the way he calls us human just pisses me off lmao. But we will be keeping an open mind. I will come to love you Sebek (yes it is a threat)

I feel terrible for Silver. Imagine looking at people you've known your entire life, two of them people you look up to and one you've trained alongside, and seeing strangers. Strangers who live in a fairy tale, who want you to join them and live happily ever after, sacrificing your freedom and responsibilities of the real world for an ideal ending. Who wouldn't want to take that chance? Making the choice to go against them, for their own good, is the most difficult thing to do in this situation. Raising your weapon against the one you trained your whole life to protect, fighting against someone who was once your comrade-in-arms.... it's terribly heartbreaking. But, hey, at least we got Sebek to wake up.

It's nice to see Silver taking the lead and being the dependable one. Also, General Lilia!! Been waiting for him since I got spoilers back when I was stuck in Ignihyde's book. I love how his hair transitions from being long and having red streaks to short and cute with pink streaks. Long hair is often associated, at least in my culture, with maturity and a sense of responsibility, while short hair is more fun and child-like. Similarly, red is an intense colour, while pink could technically be seen as a softer, gentler cousin to it. It shows Lilia's change from a warrior to caregiver and I think it's really neat. I just wish he could have seen him in a more adult-like form in the past.

#1. Bi-Han, aka Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot. He was bae to me from before I could even comprehend how to play video games.

#2. Kane. (I'm not sure if this counts? bc he's technically a wrestler) but he's a wrestler from an era where kayfabe was a thing that existed and wrestlers did their best to maintain it.

#3. Jadeite from Sailor Moon. I can't really explain why? Maybe it's bc he's usually ignored by fandom and when he is acknowledged, he's grossly mischaracterized and unjustly hated. I will love him more than any one could ever hate him.

I really like your idea on em both being rich kids lol, very interesting bc to me personally Billy is actually pretty poor. idk I mean I know we don’t see Tatum’s house or Randy’s either but the fact we never see a single thing about Billy’s sounds odd to me. Vs Tatum who has her own car and Randy with his odd collection of colorful (probably expensive) shoes.

there’s also the fact he’s on his dad’s income only who, from the real brief looks we got at him and the fact he slept with the town’s most likely ‘wellknown’ prostitute if that makes any sense, feels like some sleazy, struggling lawyer type.

I know in lore or whatever (wiki page lol) his dad is described as a powerful Woodsboro lawyer but considering this is the same lore that has Billy getting someone pregnant and can’t even decide the ages of the main cast I’m looking at in-movie evidence instead.

the only thing that kinda tips it to him being richer imo is the mobile phone he drops, or more precisely his dad’s phone - but even then it’s again his dad’s and not his own one. his dad who likely would need it as a work expense, but can’t afford to buy his son one and doesn’t care to.

anyway that’s my entire crackpot theory (I have even more but I wanted to spare your ask box from this already long thing) just to say that I really like your take on him being richer too

Hey thanks! My own personal theory dump below:

I've seen a lot of takes with poorer Billy. Tbh I think based on what we see in the movie it can go either way, we just don't really have the info. Also, not to nitpick, but we do see Tatums house, that's where Sid sleeps over after Billy gets arrested and there's also a breakfast scene there in the morning.

To me, Randy is actually probably the least wealthy member of the group, he's the only one that we know has a job, and the shoe brands (mostly hush puppies) he's wearing mostly wouldn't have been super expensive.

In my opinion we don't see much of Billy's home life because we don't see much of the real Billy at all until the reveal at the end. We only see as much of Stu's as we do because the finale takes place in his house, and imo more of Billy's home life would have made him more obvious. I have to imagine his room is full of horror merch lmao.

Honestly I don't really read Hank the same way as you do though. Maureen isn't a prostitute (not that theres anything wrong with sex work), she's a housewife with an extremely wealthy husband (aside from Stu's house Sid's seems like the biggest), so I don't really feel like the affair says anything about relative wealth.

In terms of the lore, tbh I don't actually think it's totally out of character for Billy to get a random girl pregnant. I chose not to do this in Debaser because I've decided to not make Sam canon in my own work, but I could totally see him deciding he needed to "practice" with some girl before Sid. I think he probably hooked up with her at a party, had a mediocre time, and never spoke to her again because he's an asshole. Not at all joking this seems fully in character for me.

My personal hc is that Nancy was a housewife, so Hank would have been carrying the family on a single income anyways. Even if we assume that she was working before and they lost that income, then they would have only been on a lower income for a little over a year, so I don't really see that as the makings of a poor Billy.

Also, we know from scream 2 that Nancy had enough money to get major plastic surgeries (enough that she was unrecognizable to Sid) and also paid for Mickey's tuition, so that's going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars. On top of that she's not working during the events of scream 2, she's doing the fake reporter thing. Based on that Nancy Loomis is either a rich girl by birth, someone who had an extremely high paying job before, or she got a lot of money in the divorce, which would require Hank to have had a lot of money to give.

In terms of the cell phone thing- cells weren't super common for teens to have in the 90's, as far as I can tell one of the first movies that shows teens having cell phones is clueless, which came out in 1995, so it doesn't necessarily say much to me that Billy doesn't have his own in the movie.

In terms of Hank, when we see him he's wearing a nice suit, it's up to date with trends in 96', meaning he's got enough money to be staying up to date with his wardrobe and suits aren't cheap. Other wardrobe hints include Billy's white shirt being Calvin Klein, not a cheap brand for a plain white shirt. If Billy is less wealthy he's more likely to be wearing Hanes. At the very least I, a relatively poor person, am buying the cheapest white shirts I can. I get that shit in a five pack from walmart, I don't have the expendable income to spend over 50$ for a single shirt.

All of this is to say that at least for me it doesn't make a lot of sense for Billy to be poor, especially with what we know about his mom in movie 2. But thats not why I chose to make him rich.

Why Sharp chose to make Billy a rich kid:

So i've seen a number of takes where Billy is poor and Hank is extremely abusive, and that was something I wanted to avoid. In some cases this can feel to me like the poverty and physical abuse is meant to explain his behaviour and that feels a little oversimplified. I specifically chose to make Hank neglectful, judgmental and argumentative (emotionally abusive) but not physically abusive. It doesn't always take more than that to fuck someone up, and I also wanted Billy's rage to come from somewhere else, to be a little less obviously justified. His life isn't easy, but he still has privilege.

In terms of the wealth issue, Billy's character reads more as an entitled rich kid to me. He's out of touch with the emotional stakes of the things he's doing and beyond that he's got the time and energy to plan and carry out a murder spree like this.

I personally chose to write Billy as someone who doesn't experience a lot of consequences for his actions because his dad can pay them away, which he does because Billy has an effect on his professional image as a lawyer. This was particularly important for my trans Billy storyline, because the money would be necessary both to access black market hormones (would have been near impossible to get them prescribed at the time) and also because Hank would have needed to bribe the cops and the hospital to keep quiet so Billy wouldn't be outed.

Aside from that though I just think the rich boy no consequences thing plays well into how unafraid he is about what he's doing and how casually he does it. All of this is just my take though! There are lots of ways to read the movie and I made character choices about him so that they fit into the narrative I'm crafting, doesn't need to work for anyone else.

at this point i would say the main one is stranger things. i tend to only be able to successfully write for one fandom at a time apparently lol. but i imagine i'll dip my toes back into merlin one day.

i do! most or try my best to. often in the first week-ish after posting something, and i do sincerely try to respond to every comment but i've fallen behind on that a lot recently.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

this is a hard question to answer because i literally have thrived off of angst, specifically in the merlin fandom, for many years. i think i'll say winter always turns to spring which is a canon compliant merlin/will fic i wrote that has a tinge of....unrequited feelings, which is probably what bumps it up into the most sad.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

is it bad that i don't write a lot of "traditional" happy endings? i kind of make them work to get there lol. bittersweet my beloved. i would say my hairdresser steve au is the most lighthearted thing i've written with a happy ending?

not really! i've gotten the occasional weird ass comment that i'm sure the commenter THOUGHT was "kind" but i've kind of side-eyed.

i have this shameless canon divergence fic. the summary i wrote describes it best: "When Ian was 3, his birth father Clayton Gallagher and his wife Lucy were granted full custody, ripping Ian away from the only family he had ever known. Fifteen years later, Ian has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is looking for answers. Here, he reconnects with Fiona and Lip, his brother and sister who watched him be taken. Ian also meets his brother’s friend, Mickey, who conveniently is the guy Ian has been meeting in bars and dark alleys for the past few weeks."

part of me wishes i could go back and finish it, but i haven't written for gallavich in so long & i have so many other fics for other fandoms i'm more inclined to finish first. i guess never say never, but i also don't know when the time for it would be. alas.

16. What are your writing strengths?

how dare anyone make me talk positively about myself....sigh. ok. i think i'm good at character tone/voice. the way characters speak has always come pretty easily to me, and so i'm often most proud of my dialogue. i think it's why a lot of my fics often are dialogue heavy & have people working out problems together.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

does my own brain count? i feel like i can be repetitive in my descriptors of things. everything is "says softly" or "he smiles" or "he laughs" etc. my brain tells me every single goddamn sentence has to be Unique or something, and then i get in my head about Everything. it's the worst !!!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i haven't ever done it! not sure how i would go about it tbh! i don't speak any other languages other than english, so i would be hesitant to put any other language in a fic of mine because i would have to rely on google translate or something.

HMMM. if i'm really honest, probably peter pan when i was like. 10. then it was icarly LMAO. all on ff.net babeyyyy

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

hands down, fields of gold. i consider it to be my merlin magnum opus of sorts, my eternal love letter to the show. i took 2 years to write it, and genuinely no joke some of the aspects/themes of that fic date back to headcanons/meta i wrote in 2012. so. i poured a lot of my heart into that fic, and i hope it shows.

okay was rereading how Tommy and Ranboo met and fun question I have is clothing.

What kind of clothing does everyone wear? Like Boggins wouldn't wear green and such like leafman and I know I've got the actual movie for reference, but like what's your take?

Like Bugfolk would surely be different too right?

Also also I just wanna know, what kind of fur is ranboos jacket made from? cause its half black half white and my first thought was: hehehe skunk jacket.

And also while we're on the the topic of clothes: weapons and armour.

What do you imagine each races preferred choice of weaponry is and made from what? Cause I'd imagine certain bug folk would have natural defence mechanisms like spiders and venom ya know? So would they still use a weapon?

Where as I kind of imagine boggins bigger and bulkier so they'd probably prefer hand to hand combat but then again also they ride bats in the movie so theres that as well as leafmen and their bows on hummingbirds.

ok first with the clothes: boggins wear lots of furs and weird armor-esqe things (like the shells of those spikey circle plants as shoulder guards [i don’t know what the spikey plants are called but if you google that they’ll come up sorry for my non american readers who have no fuckin clue what i’m talking about] or like bug shells as shields). bone jewelry/accessories, giant stitching, lots of sacks, bandages, belts, lots of overlayed raggedy fabrics. i took a lot of inspiration from viking type clothing. basically the boggins wear all this because their part of the forest doesn’t have much/any sun and they mostly live underground or in the trunks of dead trees where it’s very damp and cold.

as for leafmen, they don’t wear clothes. they’re perfectly built to survive in their natural habitat and since they’re basically sentient plants there isn’t really a need for clothes anyway, if you get what i’m saying. they all have different types and patterns of leaves which can look a lot like clothes and provide some extra support like clothes do, but they don’t put anything extra on their bodies unless it’s practical (like bags) or pretty (some leaf men wear jewelry).

as for bugfolk, they’re somewhere in between. most of them only wear clothes for an aesthetic or for practical reasons. Like, a warm weather bugfolk that lives in the bogs would probably wear a coat. but most of them are kinda like cartoon animals in the sense that they wear whatever clothes they want. like, think of the mickey mouse gang, and how some wear pants and no shirt, shirt and no pants, etc. that’s how bugfolk are. they just mix and match.

also thank you for the Ranboo skunk jacket comment i didn’t even think about what his clothes would be made of but yes canon it’s skunk fur now.

as for weapons, i’ve had some ideas about those too >:)

ok so first off, big folk with natural defenses probably either don’t carry weapons or carry small ones. bugfolk that can fly probably only carry small weapons as well as to not weigh them down, given that it’s almost always a better option to fly from danger than fight. ground dwelling bugfolk are probably the more bulky and tough kind of bug (ants, beetles, etc) so they are probably gonna be fine in a fight without a weapon but probably carry bigger ones to be safe. also bugs are strong, so i can totally imagine an ant carrying around a sledgehammer double it’s body weight like it’s nothing just in case lmao. but all in all, most of them probably just carry the equivalent of a pocket knife or maybe a machete or something.

as for boggins and leafmen, i actually have a couple of visual references i pulled from pinterest! most of the time they use very similar types of weapons, but created very differently and sometimes with very different purposes. Boggins, being much bigger and tougher than leafmen, create weapons that are mostly close range, giant, and pack a powerful hit. Leafmen, being more nimble and fast than boggins, create weapons that highlight their best way of fighting, which is mostly long range. Both use long (like a bow and arrow) and short (like a sword) range, though.

starting with boggins, they love using bones in their weapons. they also use a lot of belts, straps, and bandages in their weapons along with their clothes. all in all, their weapons aren’t as well put together as a leafmens, but they focus more on brutality, size, and endurance than making their weapons look pretty. all in all they make the scariest fuckin weapons ever and this is definitely part of the reason leafmen think they’re bloodthirsty monsters.

leafmen, however, have a lot more class with their weapons. it’s way more civilized, and they have more complex and harder to craft weapons. i especially like the idea that they have things like the first picture made out of vines and stuff that they can use to swing and maneuver through a fight, which a boggin can’t do cause they’re not as nimble.

the movie itself also had this little piece of concept art, which also highlights the differences well;

as an ian gallagher defender, I just wanted to say i saw a few of your posts about him after rewatching the series for the first time in years and i was beyond happy seeing people actually understand and empathise with him as an individual outside of his relationship with mickey. ian stans/gallavich stans who actually liked ian were in the trenches when the show aired and i personally just ended up avoiding the fandom altogether because gallavich and mickey stans could be particularly invalidating and straight up brutal with their opinions lmao

anyway it’s nice to see that binge watchers like yourself overall seem to have a much more positive view of his character! It’s been wild watching him over the years go from overhated to a fan fave in real time

I can't imagine what it was like watching live. I'm glad to hear there were people who championed his character while the show was on too. I only watched Shameless for the first time back in 2022 and when I went searching around Tumblr and YouTube for the fandom it seemed like the majority of fans were hating Ian for things that invalidates his experiences as someone with bipolar disorder in favor of defending mickey. I personally don't have any experience with bipolar disorder but I really don't think you need to in order to empathize with a character and understand a character. The amount of hate under gallavich YouTube scenes was so infuriating to me lol, which led to me making those posts. And I still to this day don't understand loving a ship yet not understanding one half of that ship. There are plenty of things Mickey does that I hate but I understand why they happened (events in season 10 notwithstanding -- that's just bad writing!!) but I still love that character.

Im not super entrenched in the fandom but there are definitely people here on Tumblr who feel the same way about Ian and gallavich so we're not alone! Though I definitely still come across those same opinions about Ian that seems to have plagued the fandom for years, knowing that there are people out there who love his character is validating. For a while there, I thought I was alone.

hello vio! i don't know if you've answered this before but what made you ship steddie in the first place? was it a specific moment from the show? and more in general, do you have specific dynamics you like in terms of ships? i'm really curious about your OTPs (is my age showing using this term?) in other fandoms, if you have any (and if you want to share, no pressure)

i haven't answered this before!! but i love thinking about it.

i've enjoyed tossing steve into ships since s1. so it tracks that steddie would pique my interest. but if i'm honest, when i first watched s4, i liked eddie and nancy. i just!!! i liked how he helped her onto the boat lmao. that's the kind of thing that gets me (and it was a fun twist on eddie throwing his vest at steve. guess i liked jealous!eddie from the start).

but once eddie and steve had their little forest stroll, i thought, okay, eddie has chemistry with most people. so while i write steddie, i read for a lot of different pairings. i like allllll the possibilities. like when i find a rarepair i'd never considered, and someone writes them and it WORKS? and for that brief period of time, i'm like fully immersed in it? nothing beats it.

some ship dynamics i enjoy: we're stronger together. you make me want to be a better person. my love for you scares me (and even though it scares me, i can't imagine stopping).

i like it when there's a character who's tough on the outside but is secretly soft, and when they don't laugh all that often but when they do, it's with each other (looking at you rick & michonne from twd). i like the 'you're terrible but i'm also kind of terrible so i guess we work' dynamic (ian and mickey from shameless). i like 'no one gets me quite like you, but our timing is shit' (marianne and connell from normal people, fleabag and the priest). also some non-romantic dynamics like 'we're amazing partners and i respect you above all others' (joan and sherlock from elementary, hardy and miller from broadchurch).

Clock Tower headcanons because yes (feel free to use these for your own hcs for him I don’t mind)

This is gonna be long. Brace yourselves (also a lot of these are gonna involve the dolls in the attraction and theres gonna be MAD angst so uh beware. TW for mentions of (doll) child death I guess?) oh and im prob gonna be calling him Clockenspiel throughout this post as my design of him uses that name.

• He behaves like a father to the dolls in the ride. The animals in the ride are considered pets, too. (And last time I checked there’s approximately 240 doll children and 60 animals on the actual its a small world so idk?? Could be wrong)

• Clockenspiel’s mental state affects those of the dolls. If he’s normal, the dolls will be, too. However, when he’s gone insane, the dolls will act more strangely too.

• This also makes me imagine when Clockenspiel has COMPLETELY gone mad and the bossfight happens, (if there was singing in the game), the dolls would gather around atop parts of the arena like alley cats stalking a mouse (ha.) and sing.

• Clockenspiel has control over the attraction. Sure, gremlins and people can mess with parts of it, but the overall functions and mechanics are under his control. (So yes, he can suddenly turn off every light except one to bring a spotlight on you.)

• “Can a clock tower need therapy?” YES. The thinner disaster and being abandoned for presumably decades (plus the song getting stuck at a point an playing nonstop according to the junior novel for Epic Mickey) degraded Clockenspiel’s mental health BIG TIME. More on this later.

• Theres plenty of reasons why Clockenspiel completely lost his mind once Mickey entered the area for his bossfight, but a possible reason in my headcanons is a mix of several things; If Mickey destroyed any dolls (aka his technical CHILDREN) on his way to reaching him (making him reasonably PISSED), perhaps he knew Mickey was just gonna leave through the projector screen once he reached Clockenspiel (which would probably cause a reaction like “you people left me abandoned for SO, SO LONG. And finally, when I see another toon again, all you want to do is LEAVE? Just like that? AGAIN?!”), maybe his security protocols triggered, maybe he just snapped at the moment Mickey walked in, etc…

• In the paint route, Clockenspiel is alive, and back to his usual, friendly, gentle-giant self, but he’s still struggling with the trauma and mental issues he got. Bottles of thinner stress him out, he cannot be left alone at night during closing time or else he’ll get REALLY, REALLY anxious and stressed (so someone has to stay with him for the night so he can actually “sleep” or just generally relax and not lose his mind all paranoid about being abandoned again), he’s trying to recover though, be nice to him.

• In the thinner route, Clockenspiel eventually shuts down, and at a point, dissolves enough with the thinner and sinks to the bottom of the river. Oh, and I haven’t decided on what to choose yet, but either the dolls will scurry off away from the area where Mickey kills him (if the dolls were watching), or the dolls will simultaneously shut down with Clockenspiel.

• The rules of the attraction are his “house rules”, break any of these rules (or just generally be disrespectful and/or rude), and he will NOT be pleased. At all. Seriously, you don’t want a giant clock tower to be mad at you. Just be nice and behave lmao

• I haven’t seen much on Epic Mickey 2 so take this headcanon with a grain of salt, Small World (and Ostown I suppose) is the only area in Wasteland perfectly safe for children, so many who live on Mean Street bring their kids there, making Clockenspiel pretty much a children’s icon for the kids in Wasteland.

• Clockenspiel cares about children, and is actually pretty capable of babysitting (although he WILL judge someone if they’re being a bad parent.), he can even entertain people on his own, playing music (since he could possibly be a giant instrument), playing little games, storytimes… he’ll also teach kids how to sing its a small world, so uh. Sorry if suddenly a toon kid just starts singing it over and over.

• Some people are slightly hesitant to trust him at first, since he’s a huge animatronic with enormous fists that could be considered dangerous, but he’s harmless when theres no danger around or he isn’t crazy.

• He can hold his friends using his hands! He’s very gentle, there’s nothing to be worried about regarding that.

• When being built, once people realized he was sentient, they quickly gave him arms (because it’s only fair to let him have SOME movement besides his head tilting if he’s gonna be alive)

• Clockenspiel used to be far more energetic when he was first built, but had to be taught to be more gentle and careful so he’d stop accidentally scaring people with his more high energy (because y’know, he’s HUGE). Now, hes more soft-spoken, and more careful and precise with every single one of his movements.

• The toon “armor” on his arms can be taken off. But he has to be very careful when doing anything without those parts so he doesn’t damage himself. (Plus he generally prefers to have them on more because they add to his more colorful color palette)

• As implied by the Clocktower Cleaners comic, he is allergic to his own dust.

• You’re lucky he’s so friendly and gentle! In game, theres 3 ceiling props of a sun, and 2 clouds, and whenever the Clock Tower attacks, the props violently bounce. Meaning this man can cause SHOCKWAVES just by hitting his fists on the ground. Good lord.

• He’s good friends with the gremlins. His very tall walls forming the facade help protect Gremlin Village, and the Gremlins help repair Clockenspiel whenever he needs it. And in general they seem to be close. (Which. Hurts a lot now considering in the junior novel, when Mickey destroys the clock tower, the Gremlins simply cheer on Mickey for stopping him from destroying everything with his fists. And the fact they abandoned him for decades but hey. Everyone was kinda fending for themselves.)

I'll send it in as an ask bc replying in tags is too much of a hassle now, bit basically it was one of the best doctor/rose fics i've ever read, and i failed to save it and now i can't find it anywhere no matter how hard i try. Worst thing is, i can't even remember if o read it in English or in Russian, i was so invested in the story and the writing was so organic the language kind of melted away, it was projected directly into my brain. It had a motiff with stargazing and images you see on the Moon, so i think it was rpobably called something like Moon Rabbit, but there's nothing on ao3 with that title.

It starts with Rose and Ten golfing (i think) somewhere in space, and it's early days for Ten so Rose didn't have time to adjust to the change so she's a bit apprehensive and keeps trying to see Nine in him and it was all tied up into the Moon imagery somehow? Suddenly she gets a call from Mickey telling her to come home asap and not tell the Doctor, so she does, and there's Nine (!) alive and well. They meet up in secret from Ten and he tells her that "no Rose wtf i didn't just transform into another dude, i was beamed away from the TARDIS and this one's an imposter (basically confirming all of her fears from just after the regeneration) and he's civil with Mickey? couldn't be me" (ok this part i might've imagined afterwards lmao, but it's basically right, he convinces Rose by perfecrly matching Nine's character, which, for Rose, is more Doctor-y than Ten ever was so the latter has to be the fake one right?)

There's this whole angsty thing about how she missed him and how hard it was for her to adjust to the regeneration, and the matter of trust was explored really well bc she doesn't really know who to trust like 70% of the fic, and then there's the Doctor (Ten, who's the real one obv) who is hurt by the fact that she would just go against him like that but he understands why she would do that, the dynamics and emotions were just *chef's kiss*

Turns out that "Nine" is a unique model of a TARDIS from the Time War so it can shapeshift and pretend better than other TARDIS's apparently and also read minds (that's how it's able to trick Rose). Also turns out that TARDIS's could be male or female (i wasn't with the author on this one) and this new TARDIS was male and our TARDIS was female, so when the dude learned that most of the TARDIS's were gone after the war he came to the conclusion that he had to breed to make new TARDIS babies? (i'm even less with the author here, but when i'm describing it it sounds even worse than i remember, it was much more elegant and i guess reasonable in the original text) Of course our TARDIS doesn't want that bc the process kinda sucks, i guess it was dangerous for her? i don't remember. But yeah, once the Doctor and Rose sort their thing out they have to hunt the dude TARDIS down and get rid of him. At the end he passes through time i guess and an early human glimpses him in the sky like a fallen star and comes up with a fictional story about a warrior and a maiden this warrior was chasing or something, and that's how humanity started making stories.

This fic is SO GOOD despite the weird bits, and i will forever be sad that i didn't think to bookmark it or something. I'll leave this here, firstly bc i think it answers some of the questions you might have and retelling is better than nothing, and secondly because maybe someone will see this post and recognise the fic - unlikely but i can't pass up this chance of finding it

Oh wow that sounds amazing! Mostly the trust part! It would be SO easy to make a companion doubt that the other is the Doctor when you can perfectly pose as an incarnation they know better. Because they're human and us humans, we like to cling to what we know. That concept is just - Idk I feel like it's slightly blowing my mind and now I really want to read this fic.

I agree on the TARDIS thing. In my mind it is uncommon for a TARDIS to have a gender at all. I believe 'our' TARDIS does have a gender but she just ran with it and picked one because the human strays kept going on about it. So her gender's basically 'she/her' - pronouns plus the colour blue with some mischief sprinkled in - or something; you know what I mean.

Plus, I am a tentative fan of the loom thing so if timelords already don't get 'born' I do not believe TARDIS-s would mate for reproduction at all. I would rather assume a TARDIS gets made when there's an imbalance in the space-time-continuum on the quantic level that gets augmented by randomly appearing resonance and then the moment the TARDIS appears it has always been existing since the dawn of time. Or something along those lines. Probably the process can be fabricated some way and timelords have perfected exploiting it. Like they do.

Not like I have been thinking much about TARDIS genders OR reproduction, tbh. In my mind they just are 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, apart from those points that fic sounds absolutely amazing and I think I would also love those moon metaphors. So if someone knows it and could send it to us, that would be great? <3

I also totally get the 'I have no idea what language this was in' feeling, I have that all the time. Not with dw fic though because so far I have read 1 work in German and 1 work in translated Russian and half a work in French and all the other times I strictly stick to English. It just works better in that language for me and there is an abundance of fic in English anyway :) We are so blessed to be in a huge fandom. Although a tiny one WOULD make finding your fic a lot easier.

Wrote this pretty soon after I finished Kingdom Hearts 2, I only got into the series in early 2022 (late to the party lmao). But that means when I wrote this I lacked the context of anything beyond KH2, though I don’t think that negatively impacts what I wrote in any way.

I imagine they never speak of this again after returning to the Destiny Islands and it’s only after DDD/pre-KH3 that they finally talk about it. Soriku is canon in my heart.

The Realm of Darkness is surprisingly beautiful.

An endless beach, an endless sunset, and an endless feeling of relief. At least for Sora.

Everyone in the light world is safe. Kairi, King Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and all the friends he made in all the worlds he visited. Even though it comes with the sacrifice of him and Riku being stuck here, well... he can't complain too much. He can even catch up with Riku, which is exactly what he's been doing for the indeterminable amount of time they've been here.

"...Hey, Sora?" Riku asks. Sora sits up.

"Yeah?"

"Who would you choose, me or Kairi?"

The question is immediately confusing. "Huh? I can't pick between you two like that! You're both my best friends." Sora huffs playfully. "What kind of a question is that?"

Riku smiles gently. "I dunno. Guess I was just curious." He looks back out to the sea, seemingly finished, and Sora follows suit. A few minutes later, though, Riku looks back at his friend and speaks. "Can I ask you another question?"

"Sure, go ahead."

There's a pause. Riku scans Sora, his eyes holding an intensity that's only matched with how they looked during their recent battle. "Can I kiss you?"

Now that definitely takes Sora aback. He jolts backwards in shock, sending a small wave of sand towards the other boy.* "H-Huh? What? Kiss me? Isn't that– don't only boys and girls do that?" Of course, Sora knows that answer, he's thought about kissing and being near Kairi for a long time. But the thought of it being Riku instead, it's... strange. His heart has started to beat faster against his will.

Riku chuckles. "Not only boys and girls do that. You really are naïve."

"H-Hey! What's that supposed to mean?!"

"That you're naïve."

Sora growls. Before he can come up with a retort, Riku has suddenly shifted closer to him.

"I would like an answer, though." Riku says quietly, seemingly unfazed with how close they are to each other.

Sora stutters, and he can feel his face warm up. He thought this would be with Kairi, not...

“I... w-well,” Sora begins, “I wouldn’t... mind it.” That’s the strange part to him. He’s never thought about kissing Riku before, and now just the concept is making his heart leap into his throat.

Riku doesn’t say anything in response. He seems surprised, just for a moment, until he gently leans in and kisses Sora, bringing a thumb up to rest on Sora’s chin.

Sora can barely breathe, let alone move. It’s only just occurred to him that he doesn’t exactly know how to kiss somebody, which has resulted in him being completely frozen while Riku puts his lips to his. But the experience itself, how warm it is, feeling Riku’s hair brush up against his face, the feeling of Riku being careful and taking his time for once...

He may not be able to breathe, but he sure can turn his cheeks bright red.

Riku pulls back a few inches after a moment. His expression seems unsure. “Did you... like that?”

Sora’s eyes are wide like saucers, and it takes him a second to regain his voice. “I-I— uh, yeah... I did. It felt really weird, but I really, really liked it.”

Riku sighs softly in relief. “Good.” He pulls away fully, leaving Sora somewhat cold, and looks back out to the sea. “Just... let me know if you’d want me to do that again.”

There’s a pause. “I... I think I do want it again.”

The corners of Riku’s mouth curl up slightly. “Hah... come here, then, Sora.”
