AN; !!!!! first post !!!!! Kinda nervy writing this cuz it's my first time writing something but I been on my avatar shiiii so yk I gotta do what I gotta do !! Anyways yea this is like kinda sorta based on Mr. Brightside by The Killers but it's also like not ?? And again it's my first time writing so the plot and dialogue and everything abt it is def messy and possibly rushed but pshh enjoy !! And also not to be a lil spoiler but ofc Zuko and y/n get together in the end 😘😘😘

Zuko paced back and forth, unsure what to do. You were the only thing on his mind, it bothered him and he had to do something about it. But yet ever since that day when you two first met, Zuko couldn't let go of the fact you were probably Sokka's girl. But he couldn't let go of your kindness, you sat and cried next to his uncle that had just been struck with lightning. But obviously, his emotions getting the better of him, he shot fire at you and Katara. He watched as Sokka grabbed your hand and waist pulling you up and running away. But eventually when he had gathered all his courage(which took a while) and his strength he walked up to you.

Comin' out of my cage and I been doin' just fine Gotta, gotta be down because I want it all

"Hey y/n." he grimly uttered

"Zuko! Hey! Why so down? Did someone die?" you chuckled to yourself

"Uh n-no. I was just wond-"

Just when he was about to admit his feelings, here came the killer of all his courage. Strutting with intensifying ego. Sokka. With widened eyes, Zuko stared as Sokka scooped you up and twirled you around. Wrapping your beautiful arms around his neck and burying your head with them. Zuko looked down and saw his hands firmly carry you while holding your ass. A twinge of pain and jealousy struck his intestines hard and fierce.

"What's on your mind?" You said with immense joy in your voice, but yet not looking Zuko in the eyes. Your attention now only focused on Sokka staring into his dazzling eyes.

"Uh, can I talk to you.. alone." Staring dejectedly at Sokka, and he simply shrugs, setting y/n down and walking away.

Zuko can tell you are obviously annoyed, and it worries him. Maybe he isn't wrong and you and Sokka are a thing, his palms start to become slick with sweat and he lets out an exasperated sigh with a low flame following.

It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this? It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss

You watch as Zuko walks intensely closer, invading all your personal space. It wasn't a problem with you but it was definitely confusing. Zuko opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but nothing came out. Letting out a groan of frustration, he made a quick fast move. Grabbing the back of your neck and the small of your back, pulling you in and landing his lips on yours. At first for one mere second you found yourself kissing him back for a second, but when you came to your senses you pushed him off. Zuko falling flat on his butt and looking up at you with hurt in his eyes.

"Zuko what the hell?" You yell trying to shake off the weird feeling in your gut

"Y/n I'm sorry!" He tries to yell while you turn and run towards Sokka, great, you just kissed some guys girlfriend, he thought. "Ugh, I can't believe how stupid I am!" pitiful tears welled up in his eyes before he violently wiped them before they could even think of spilling out of his delicate eyes, god that was embarrassing. He got up and threw himself in his tent to try and take a nap to even forget what he did.

Now I'm fallin' asleep and she's callin' a cab While he's havin' a smoke and she's takin' a drag Now they're goin' to bed and my stomach is sick And it's all in my head

Zuko throws the sheets off of him, sitting up in a cold sweat. He wipes the sweat off the back of his neck.

"Shit," he utters

He kept having weird dreams about you and Sokka, as if he was looking right at you two, having to watch a repeating nightmare of the girl of his dreams get taken by another guy. He lays his head back down and closes his eyes. Clutching his stomach that's tied in all forms of tight painful knots making his throat slick with spit. Maybe if he just thought of anything else he would have some form of nice sleep.

But she's touchin' his chest now He takes off her dress now Let me go And I just can't look, it's killin' me And takin' control

Zuko was having yet another horrid nightmare, but it felt all too real. He had left his tent and made his way to yours to apologize for stepping over lines. Weird noises, smells, and heats emitted from your tent though. He grabbed the curtain and pulled it up, horrified at the scene in front of him. A topless Sokka laid over you on the ground, he was carefully stripping you of all your clothes. You looking over and making straight eye contact with Zuko as Sokka slides himself in.

Zuko shoots his upper body up covering his eyes and yelling. Softly opening up his eyes he realizes it was all a bad dream. But oh God what if that's actually happening? He wipes the sweat off his forehead and swiftly got up and out of his tent in one motion.

Zukos eyes landed on Sokka watching you practice your earth bending. He slipped down into a spot next to Sokka and blissfully watched a girl he can never have. He looked at Sokka through his peripheral vision, that very familiar pinch of jealousy hitting close to home.

"You're a lucky guy," he uttered

That caught Sokka by surprise and he laughed

"What?"

"Y/n, look how talented she is! And she's kind and pretty, and she's yours."

This caused Sokka to laugh even harder

"Lighten up Zuko! Y/n isn't my girlfriend, she's just a close friend of mine being Suki's sister and all. I see Suki a lot in Y/n and according to Azula with Suki in prison it's nice to still have a piece of her somewhere."

But it's just the price I pay Destiny is callin' me

This caused Zukos eyes to widen fiercely. Everything he had worried about simply drifted away, even if you had rejected him he still felt worlds better. A giant boulder sized relief fell of his shoulders.

Y/n saw Zuko and Sokka sitting together and waved to both the boys with a happy smile, walking up to them and nodding Sokka off. Leaving the earth bender and the fire bender alone. Before you could say anything Zuko shot up from the floor.

"Y/n I'm so sorry, I never meant to overstep any boundaries I just thought-"

He was cut off by the feeling of lips on his own

"You talk too much," you giggled "I'm sorry for brushing you off earlier I was just caught by surprise and I was nervous. But I do like you Zuko."

Zuko smiled and wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into yet another kiss.

"I like you too."

Ok so I have this idea for a Gravityfalls au and I'm a little obsessed with the idea right now so let me know if anyone wants to hear more about it 😖

(I have no idea if anyone's done this yet, but if so pls lmk bc I'd love to see it)

ANYWAY HERE IT IS, ENJOY WHILE I WORK ON HOMEWORK!!!!

Basically, it's an au where Dipper and Mabel get kicked out at sixteen by their stepmom(?) and end up walking around before ending up in front of a house where Emma-May Dixion (Fiddleford's ex/Tates mom) lives.

She takes them in and she calls Tate down from GravityFalls to help her find a place for these two kids and he recognizes the two from when they spent a couple summers down in GravityFalls, so he says he'll take them there so they can stay with their great uncles.

Obviously, the twins are like excited and happy to go to GravityFalls to see their grunkles, and so Tate does as he said, promising his mom he'll keep her updated.

Over the journey back to Oregon, they all sorta bond, and it's nice even though Dipper is tense and very guarded while Mabel is just happy to go to a proper home. When they arrive the twins are greeted by worried grunkles and questions by their friends on why they're back in the fall instead of the summer, they don't say much but enough to let them know it wasn't good.

During the course of the twins settling in the shack, it's really complicated. Now that soos and his grandmother are living in the shack and Ford and Stan as well, it's incredibly crowded. Especially with Fiddleford coming around at times, mostly to check on the younger twins, but still.

Mabel eventually feels pretty good after a couple of days, but Dipper, on the other hand, is super tense and quiet. The only person who can get him to answer a question or to talk is Mabel, and it's really awkward for everyone in the house who isn't used to Dipper being so..different.

Later on, the Mcguckets and Pines make a small outing plan in celebration of the twins being safe and everything going well.

They end up hanging out by the lake where Tate works, and Dipper separates himself from the group because it's all just too much for him.

Dippers, too, in his head to realize Tate is sitting next to him, and when he does, he jumps and sort of just watches him from the corner of his eye.

The two make small talk, which soon morphs into them talking about family and fathers and all kinds of things. It doesn't take long for Tate to get attached to the two twins, they're really great kids.

Soon enough the conversation of how the grunkles most likely cannot be their legal gaurdians comes up and the twins are like devastated, but here comes Tate suggesting he could take em in.

Mostly because if he does, they'd still be related if Fiddleford and Stan are together. So really it's not a bad plan at all, Mabel is loving it because she honestly loves spending time with the man and she thinks it'd be nice to get him as a dad and be able to call Fiddleford grandpa.

Dipper, though, freaks out. Internally of course because he doesn't want to bring his sister down but he's secretly terrified because yeah Tate is a cool guy and he's super nice and his dad is also cool but at the same time he kinda barely knows the guy and he hates the idea of some guy just taking him and his sister away from his grunkles.

Like yeah he knows Tate will most likely let them see their grunkles but he's also terrified because he's started to like Tate and he's caught himself a few times thinking of what it'd be like to have him as a dad but he pushed the thought away as soon as it came.

It's not like he was scared that when Tate does adopt them and legally gets to be their father and all that, hell regret it. Dipper knows he's stubborn, knows he lashes out when he's upset, how he assumes the worst in almost any scenario, how he can't do anything like his sister.

Dipper knows that once Tate takes them in, he'll see how Mabel is the better twin, and he'll kick Dipper out and then never want to see him again. But no, Dipper is not scared of any of that. Whatsoever.

It takes a couple of fights and a few breakdowns, but they get there, Tate adopts the twins and makes them official McGuckets.

They all celebrate with a small party and it's a little rough, Dipper hasn't called Tate dad yet but that's ok because Tate is a patient man and he knows it's a hard transition anyway.

But when the time comes when Dipper finally calls Tate "dad," he most certainly doesn't cry.

after i read your fic writer interview post i really interested in your vision about mandy struggling with a unrequited love towards ian and jealousy towards mickey. I'd love to know more about that !!

Hi anon! 💖 So, it’s a sorta random idea that I come back to now and again. I don’t actually know if I’ll get around to writing it - so if anyone feels inspired by this, feel free to use it as a prompt!

And it got long and I rambled (as usual…)

It would be set post-finale. Mandy ends up coming back to Chicago a bit reluctantly after she’s offered a promotion. It’s better money and better hours but it does mean she has to leave the place she’s been living for the past few years. She accepts and returns to Chicago but doesn’t let anyone know.

She doesn’t love her job, her love life is non-existent and she struggles with making close friends. She’s kinda unhappy with life but grateful for the fact she’s got a ok job and can support herself just about. That frustrates her- she’s got a normal, legal job and she works so hard but she’s still just getting by.

I think she’s probably lost touch with Ian and Mickey. She happens to run into them when she goes go buy some weed from a store and they happen to be there for work.

Mandy is surprised because the last she heard was that Mickey was on the run in Mexico. So, she can’t quite get her head around the fact that he and Ian are together and married and running a business together. It’s a lot to take in, they’ve changed a lot but in a lot of ways they’re still the same.

They start meeting up regularly and she gets to see how happy and settled they are. Of course, she saw them together when they were living at the Milkovich house but this is different - they’re far more comfortable with each other and their relationship. Idk if i’m explaining this well but she can see just how great their relationship is - it’s not perfect but it’s stable and loving and intense and all the things she assumed ‘normal’ relationships have but much more.

Mandy hasn’t been pining for Ian all these years or anything. She just slowly starts to fall for him and realises that her feelings are not just friendship. Ian’s gorgeous and kind and funny and he’s so in love with Mickey. She wishes she had someone love her like that.

At first, she just thinks she’s horny and needs to get laid. But after a couple of hookups with random guys, she realises it’s not that. Her feelings towards Ian are still there. This is something deeper.

I’m sorta imagining Mandy is just struggling with feeling unfulfilled with her life and although she wants to be happy for Ian and Mickey, she struggles with it a bit. And her feelings for Ian become muddled because she loves him so much as a friend but after not seeing him for so long, it’s kinda like they’re meeting all over again and he’s just so sweet and charming. Because on the one hand, he’s still the dorky, cute kid she first met all those years ago but he’s also more mature and sure of himself in a lot of ways.

It’s sort of difficult for her to not compare Ian and Mickey to her relationship with Lip. She wonders why her and Lip couldn’t overcome everything to be together and love each other like this. (Which is frustrating in a lot of ways because she thought she was so over Lip but there’s stuff she’s obviously never moved from.) Even though it’s been years, it brings up a lot of old hurt and she’s never really properly dealt with her jealousy and insecurity issues so she finds it hard not to feel slightly jealous that Mickey gets Ian and this good life.

Also, she’s never been jealous of Mickey before so it’s a strange, new feeling.

I think sometimes in fanfic, people write Mickey and Mandy much closer than they are in canon. Which is interesting and can be great in fics but I do think that it’s also interesting to explore a different idea that they cared for each other but they couldn’t really be as close because they were keeping so many secrets from each other. That’s sorta how they’d be in this fic - and they’re sorta learning to be siblings again now that they grown up and free and Terry’s dead.

Basically it’s a character study about reuniting with people from the past when you’re in a different place to them. Mandy wants what they have and, maybe wants Ian too in a way. But obviously she can’t have Ian, her feelings for him are unrequited - she knows he’s gay and that he’s in love and married to her brother. So she has to learn to move on from her feelings. It’d be kinda angsty, I think.

Maybe she’d drunkenly confess her feelings at one point (Ian doesn’t get it at first when she tells him she loves him, “I love you too, Mandy!” And she’s like “no…I’m in love with you” and it’s emotional and awkward). One reason I’m not sure I’d write this story is that I’m not sure how best to write Ian and Mickey after they learn this. (That, and I’ve never finished a multi-chapter fic and I feel this would work best as a long story.)

Anyway! Yeah, those are all my rambling thoughts about this. Like I said, I’m not sure I’ll actually ever write this so if it inspires anyone - feel free to have all of this or parts of it as a prompt. 💖

I think the basic idea of Mandy having an unrequited love for Ian and struggling with feeling jealous towards Mickey, might work in earlier seasons or like…in a canon divergent or AU setting but I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it in other settings outside of my post-finale idea.

okay so i feel like price's favorite holiday tradition is watching the nutcracker

fhhdhshs ok this is like a super duper random headcanon that's gonna go off on a tangent here and if ur a possessive price girly maybe u won't like it but oh well

but i can see price like at one point having a small little relationship with some other lady whatever she's kinda irrelevant ngl

what matters is her child

what im trying to say is that the ex's child danced in the nutcracker and his ex brought him to see it

but this was like quite a few years ago

either that or he just dated a dancer that was in the nutcracker

idk man all that matters is that the tradition of watching the nutcracker was started

he likes going to a different theatre/company every year so it sorta switches it up

so sometimes he'll go watch the royal ballet or sometimes he'll watch some amateur recital thing

he just enjoys watching people dance and listening to the music

he thinks it's so cool how effortless they make it look

especially since he knows it's anything but

he really likes the mouse king vs nutcracker part in the beginning

but simon really enjoys (and is really good at) making popcorn and cranberry garland

i mean guys let's be real

simon is a seamstress at heart and on the surface

i mean it's not like he has the time to stop by the store and get someone else to sew his mask on for him

there's just something so therapeutic about sewing

and he really likes the sweet and tart smell of cranberries mixed with the buttery smell of popcorn

it sounds weird on paper but irl it's really good (i assume)

he also eats a lot more cranberries than he probably should but tbh who can blame him

on another note he also really likes making sugared cranberries and just keeping them in a bowl so he can snack on them

and i can't even blame him bc i tried them for the first time during thanksgiving and oml they slap

so yeah he honestly just lives for cranberry stuff

but ofc like everything else about his life this is a secret that can never come to life

but he will decorate his house with strings of popcorn and cranberry garland

also every year he always eats some by the end

he doesn't eat the popcorn tho only the cranberries

and even then he pulls them all off and washes them

but he doesn't always eat much because they taste sorta weird by then

white elephant, secret santa, or just general gift giving

it doesn't matter soap loves them all

he loves to see who he gets and to buy presents for them

and ofc he loves getting presents in return

plus he really likes seeing just how much thought and effort everyone puts into their gifts

and he always keeps a camera on hand during gift opening so he can try and get that perfect moment of surprise

he's gotten a few good shots but a lot of them are really blurry

he's not the best photographer okay

but yeah he just loves seeing everyone so happy

his favorite one is probably white elephant though

because the randomness adds to the fun

and he likes to be able to look back at some weird object and be reminded of the good memories

I may or may not have been feeling inspired-- might try to expand it into a proper fic later but this is more of a refined-ish idea dump. A fic of a fic (Taking Running Blind by @thetriggeredhappy and having a similar plot with different main characters. Congrats, your peer pressure worked! :))

Summary: Spy is blinded, and after an earnest attempt to hide it, Engineer and Sniper notice (not crossteam btw, tho that would be another cool angle). They try to help him as best they can. (It's those 3 being shipped together, since I have trio relationships on my mind lately cus i read this rly good book with one in it it's called Iron Widow you should go read it rn)

At the moment it's more like an organized-ish infodump that I might turn into a proper fic at some point

Okay so Spy going blind, I think he would still be able to see light but nothing else. It'd happen because of some sort of injury that Respawn couldn't cover for some reason and that leads to Medic and Engineer getting anxious as all hell about Respawn. Medic would make Engineer take breaks, and it's during these breaks that he is trying to help Spy deal with day-to-day stuff.

I think the first to notice would've been Sniper, honestly. Looking through a scope it's not hard to assume that his sorta-friend is struggling with backstabs for a reason he can't place. What's going on with the Spook?

It gets even more obvious when Spy's knife lands, not into someone's spine, but their shoulder. it still does damage, but it's not a backstab. he's killed immediately by Pyro who was nearby and he's still blind. He thought maybe respawn would fix it but no nothing was fixed. Fuck.

Since he can only perceive light, he has to hide out for the rest of the match, using his Cloak and Dagger to remain alive and make an excuse as to why he wasn't seen on the field. I think he would hide out with Sniper, trying his damndest to not give the game away.

It's in this next half-hour that he starts getting used to how loud everything else is, without the visual clutter to distract him. For some reason he hears the other team's Heavy nearby, and it tips him off that that's actually the other Spy, using a new tactic.

The knife sinks into Sniper's back easily, but he never expected the second spy (our pov spy) to pin him down and start stabbing wildly, finishing him off with a carefully aimed gunshot before returning to the shadows.

Once the match is over, he makes his way back to the base, using the light and large colored arrows he can process as a guide. All of this is under the guise of his cloak, so nobody notices.

Or, at least that was the plan. He manages to fall into the Engineer, knocking both of them over.

"Spy what the hell are you trying to pull?"

"That's not your business." is the lousy attempt at a coverup he gives. If he knew the only way he could tell who he was talking to was by the sound of his voice... that would be bad for him.

"Then get off me, will ya?"

He does so without making eye contact, he couldn't imagine what his eyes looked like at the moment but it couldn't be good (they probs look normal, if the research i've done is correct)

There isn't another battle for two weeks, so during that time he rests up and figures out some very basic echolocation so he can make his way around the base. it's better, in his mind, to look competent than it is to be hidden. So long as nobody can tell he has a problem, that's fine by him.

Engineer and Sniper get to talking, and find they both think something's up.

"You think his sight's gotten worse?"

"I can only tell ya what I saw mate, and I saw him swinging blindly. You've seen how his stabs usually are, they're point-perfect on that specific spot on everybody's spines! Just doesn't make any sense."

"He did trip over me... Kinda thought it was some short joke but, now that'cha bring it up, it's kinda suspicious."

"He'd never want us to notice."

Engie snorts, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure he'd rather die than admit he needs help."

"What do we do then?"

"We help him, whether he admits he needs it or not."

The first way they try to help him is subtle, reaaaaal subtle. Sniper asks to take him on a walk, holds his hand and tries to talk to him about that day's battle-- he's a bit blunt but he's got the spirit. Spy complains some, but doesn't really say anything substantial. He's actually surprisingly good at not getting off-track (i've been doing things with my eyes closed as an experiment and your steps can legit get wobbly), using sniper's voice as an anchor of sorts

Engineer takes the next attempt at getting him to open up, just sort of chilling together though. It's a normal thing they do every couple of weeks to de-stress after battles. Today he thought that it would be nice to watch a tv show together, and it's some history thing idk. He describes some of the images to him, which makes Spy feel a mix of thankful and scared about-- Did he notice something? And he confronts Engie on it, asking what's going on?

"It's been both you and Sniper, what do you think happened?"

"There's no think to it. He pointed it out to me-- you botched a buncha backstabs and it looked like somethin' happened.

"This stays between the two of you and me..." he proceeds to explain what he knows about what happened. He does admit that he is, in fact, blind. He explains that he can perceive changes in light but nothing else. "It's... something like closing your eyes, permanently."

Engie is conflicted, having very little of an idea how to care for someone having vision in a state like that. He's especially not sure what to do in terms of telling Medic for instance (since respawn didn't fix it like expected)

Still though, he tells Sniper about it after staying up all night doing research on like a million specifics about vision loss (causes, treatment, what to do if it can't be fixed, etc etc)

"Huh, so what can we do right now?"

"He's gonna be real concerned about visibility, so honestly our best bet might be teaching him echolocation."

"You're kidding me!" he lets out a wheeze of a laugh, "Spy, echolocating? Yeah right. By the way when was the last time you slept?"

Engineer responds, "uh, yesterday."

Sniper proceeds to herd him into bed like a border collie, doing everything up to and including a brief attempt to pick him up over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes. Engineer blushes, maybe makes some joke about being a princess

So anyway they teach Spy how to echolocate (Sniper does, specifically, since he just forced Engineer to get some sleep).

Spy: 'this is a joke, right?"

Sniper: "do you want to do this without help or not? I don't see you being willing to get a white cane" (note: it's super good actually for figuring out ur surroundings and materials, i didn't think it would be as good as it looks but the way it works sounds really damn useful)

Over the next hour or so they do echolocation together, starting with simpler sets of noises (snapping, clicking of tongue, things like that) and then just walking and talking around the base. After a little bit, Spy is able to get a general idea (hehe i misstyped that at first to be gender. Spy is certainly able to get a gender alright) a general idea of the layout of the base. He can't really figure out the rooms without touch and counting the individual doors, and stairs are his worst enemy, but he can do the base mostly.

The next day is a CTF battle (completely spontaneous for some unknown reason) and Spy hangs out with the intel with Engineer (yknow what fuck it i'm being fancy this isn't 2fort it's Landfall, the foresty one), hoping that the administrator will just think he's having a bad day. They chat while Engie builds and tinkers, about all manner of things. Probably more about what Engie found and remembered in his research.

Anyway I've been sitting on this a few days, felt like sharing a collection of vibes which may someday be expanded. Btw writing this actually inspired me to take a different direction in an original work lol, I might try to share some of that in the future when I have proper snippets to share

•Mischa, already known as the angriest boy in town- prolly presented young. Def a bit protective and a bit delusional. (I’m taking inspiration from a certain someone rn) most definitely thought that you guys were already in a relationship before even properly talking to one another.

•Nervous, despite appearances. Nobody really expected him to. Fall so hard. And fast.

•But here we are lads it’s a wild ride-

•Probably threatened your past partners without guilt. Maybe even killed someone. I wouldn’t put it past him- he sorta kinda has. Almost no morals. Plus home life sucks so there’s that too- my man actually romantic asf(obviously, have you listened to Talia?) and writes songs for you like a little homosexual.

•Came close to singing said songs at some point- but became afraid. Because of rejection, or just worry overall, who knows. What we do know is that you have a secret protector now. Who desperately wants to be near and hold you but still-

•you’re most likely in the choir together, he has the tendency to stare for too long. You’ll constantly feel eyes on the back of your head, and if you turn and catch him- it’s definitely a little intimidating, but he honestly means no harm- to you, atleast.

•Mischa is convinced that he needs you. Like water and air. You take over his mind every second of the day- it’s almost suffocating, but he loves it. Loves you, in his own,, odd way. Romantic Lyrics turn into possessive ones, wishing to take you away from people, asking why he can’t just take you away and get rid of those who dare even look at you-

•Mischa will cave in at some point. Confront you and start rambling about how he missed you- that he just couldn’t stand seeing you talk to that random guy, what your date plans are, how he has some songs to show you- it’ll obviously throw you through a loop. You talked to this guy like,, once. Why is he acting like you’re married already??

•But he really can’t tell the difference between his fantasies, and the reality of your relationship. So he acts as though everything is normal.

•For some people- you may decide to give in, if you want to keep him settled down. Reassure him, let him know that you’re his- even though you may be a little confused. He’ll treat you right! He promised to love and protect you wholly. And he’s telling the truth. But some of you may want to just turn heel and run.

•That’s not a good idea. He’s still convinced of your relationship together. Thinks you’re just a little shy from all the love bombing out of nowhere, but it’s fine! He’ll find you and talk things over! Except,, you keep avoiding him. Saying that there is no relationship. But, sweetheart, that’s just a one-way ticket to a Mischa breaking down and desperately grabbing at you, finally letting out his darkest inner thoughts and feelings for you. Mischa wants you to know how badly he needs you.

•No matter your response, you try to leave, or you give in and try to calm him down- he’s past the point of possible normality. You’ll be missing by morning. No one to hear from you- but Mischa is awfully happy during school that next day, talking about his perfect little boyfriend.

I do know you said that tarrlok would stop practicing his bending and just be more wary of it altogether BUT what about healer tarrlok? its generally the opposite of what yakone pushed for in his sons (yakone taught the two how to fight and use their bending to harm but healing is the exact opposite. it’d be like a final fuck you to his dad I would think and it’d give him. chance to heal? if that makes sense. because from the vibes I’m getting from your au tarrloks uncomfortable with his bending because everything he knows about it has been that it can hurt people, it’s a weapon. and finally embracing his bending and learning how to use it for good would push past his fathers influence)

i think their domestic life starts out with tarrlok going out and getting a job, to help them get the things they need, and noatak “hunting” for food (he just makes fish jump out of the water into his net)

tarrlok is definitely the first to make any friends, starting with whatever older guys he is working with, they probably take him under their wing. also he’s one of those “old soul” kids. i’m not sure yet what job i think he would have but it’s something physical because i like that contrast with his personality.

i think noatak doesn’t like to go out into town at first because there is more people and their combined heartbeats can be overwhelming, i don’t think he interacted much with people before they ran either. the only time we see him older outside of training in the flashback he’s like on a cliff or something just thinking.

but i think eventually tarrlok would want to introduce noatak to people, and they would want to meet him. tarrlok would probably talk about him alot. so noatak starts going to smaller get togethers with tarrlok.

you are so right. i do think it would be very liberating to have that final piece of reclaiming his bending from the ideas of his father.

i think that would be his final step of healing but it would take a long time to get there, especially since healing also deals with bending the body in a way. i think when he does eventually learn to heal, it would be many years later. after he and noatak are settled fully into the community and he feels safe enough to explore bending again with a support system that he can fall back on if it goes poorly.

HOT TAKE: I do sorta like this show BUT

I feel like it wastes a ton of potential?

The Chaos Bots should be a more consistent/bigger threat. But it feels like this show borrows notes from SVFTOE where it says "focus more on the teen/family drama than the ACTUAL looming threat."

The whole premise with the future could've been a bit more explored as well- because the future solely hinges on one person. ((I feel like this is kinda iffy but whatever)). Which is fine I guess- it's not like they can reveal what happens to everyone because of space/time continuum or whatever- ((that too is also a problem in and of itself when it comes to me caring about the characters, because it makes them feel like they don't matter in the long run??? None of them are Hailey's equals either? But it might just be a me thing)) but what about things like canon events? I'm not saying "THE SHOW HAS TO HAVE DARK LORE LIKE OWL HOUSE AND GRAVITY FALLS DID" but I honestly think it sorta needed a stronger hook if the stakes are going to be that HIGH. ((I do find it funny how it does lack that sort of depth of lore when you consider that the consequences of Hailey failing is the LITERAL apocalypse))

I feel like the whole 'kiss-scott' thing is sorta drawn out and boring. Hailey kinda feels like a flat character and I wish they'd gone for a more underdog-esque angle with her. She honestly feels like she's good at everything- and the universe just sorta helps her out (she's incredibly lucky, not lazy) so it sorta kills the tension? Nothing about her character indicates that she'd be a MASTER inventor who'd stop climate change one day. Sure she's creative and has a get-it-done sorta attitude, but until this list popped up in her life she never shows any deep interest in fixing the environment or wanting to become an engineer.

I feel like she should've been more like Lunella from Moongirl. Lunella is a brilliant inventor- but not very athletic (she struggles with gym class) so how does she compensate for this? Simple. She uses her weapons/gadgetry to bridge the gap. But even then I'd argue that Lunella fumbles/struggles more to get things done than Hailey does. ((But then again the Moongirl show doesn't have a strict framework like Hailey's show does-so it can get away with more but that's a talk for another time). They try to sell you a girl who's risk-aversed and introverted, but Hailey doesn't come off as either of those things to me. (But that just might be me)

Honestly I feel like the show should've started out being a bookworm/loner. She's not athletic in the slightest and in fact fails at a lot of things. She doesn't have scott by her side (I'll get into this later) so when the list comes to her- she's forced to believe in herself and for the good of the world interact/make friends with people she never thought she could. Maybe she even struggles with perfectionism/the fear of failure as well.

Scott's character is also super wasted too- I don't have a problem with dumb/friendly himbo characters that can't read the room- but it feels like he could've been a bit more than that??? Especially his unbalanced dynamic with Hailey? His character is sorta held back by all the re-occuring side characters if you think about it. And their chemistry is super limited. She's super smart/talented, and he's just well...Scott. He does and say stupid stuff that either annoys her or she just rolls with it for the sake of the joke.

((Personally I would've started off the show with them not being friends/maybe even frenemies and then just have them reluctantly work together until they fall for each other)) He can't be the rival who challenges her because that's AC's job (who's a joke of a character too btw) he can't be the super social one who's the popular kid who makes Hailey feel uncomfortable/reluctant to work with because that's Christine (who's also a reoccurring side character as well). He can't be the super snarky character who despite being just as smart/more responsible than her constantly butts heads with her over completing the list (because that's Beta's role- but I give Beta a pass because he sorta carries this show for me). But if he'd had any of those traits- being a rival, or a skill that he'd consistently be better at so he'd carry the team more- part of me feels like it'd have given their dynamic better footing.

Which speaking of-

Like this may be another hot take- but Hailey/Scott's dynamic feels unbalanced and lacks a lot of chemistry to me. I just can NOT ship them romantically, and ironically the more the show hints/tells me it's endgame- the less I feel inclined to ship it. I really think that if the list didn't outright imply it and the fate of the world didn't depend on it- these two wouldn't be a thing.

People say not every girl/guy has to end up together- and I do agree. But if the show really wanted to hit shipping gold, I think it should've explored it's options better.

Summary: You've been in love with James Barnes for... forever, it seems like. For the past two years of his marriage to your sister, you've been repressing your romantic feelings towards him because he's married. You'd never hurt your sister like that. 

But after she passes away suddenly, James leaves. Leaving you alone and giving you a position of wealth that you never wanted. 

Four years later, you're trying your best to keep things together until James barges back into your life. To his surprise though, you want to get married. You want to settle down, regardless if you love your future partner or not. 

And James... well... he doesn't quite know how to feel about it.

Six years, three months, and two days.

Six years, three months, and two days ago⎯ your life had resembled some sort of normalcy.

Six years, three months, and two days ago, your life was something like Charlotte Lucas from Pride and Prejudice.

Your parents had been bugging you then, telling you at the age of twenty-four, that you needed to start thinking about settling down. All of your friends were doing it. Darcy Lewis, your fellow Omega friend from uni already settled down with Loki Laufeyson and was expecting a pup with him. And her friend Jane Foster who was also an Omega was married to Brunnhilde and they were expecting a pup too.

Eventually, your circle of friends fell in line and started settling down too. One by one, as if they were dominos falling over one another.

Your friends were finding their future partners and then; there was you.

You didn't date.

You didn't settle down.

You didn't do any of the sort.

You couldn't date.

You couldn't settle down.

You couldn't, didn't do any of those things because the Alpha you wanted to date, to settle down with was already taken.

By your sister.

You loved your sister. Dolores, or as everyone called her, Dot, was the best sister you could ever ask for. She was the oldest out of the two of you. She had gotten married to James when she had been twenty-four, and James was twenty-six.

They were the perfect couple. They always smiled at each other and looked so disgustingly in love that some people in your elite circle called it nauseatingly cute.

If your life couldn't have gotten any worse, you had met James at their engagement party. You both struck up a conversation. He made you laugh. He made you smile. You both talked about the company that Dot would inherit after getting married, and a deep discussion about finances and trade was launched. Everything fell into place, and when you gazed into those baby blues, you knew.

You just knew.

You were in love with him. Like a love-at-first-sight sorta thing. He set your heart aflame.

No one had ever made you feel like this before. No Alpha or Beta, not even other Omegas ever made you feel like this.

Then, the realization of why he was here revealed itself.

This was your sister’s engagement party.

So you could easily imagine how your heart just shattered into a million pieces when Dot came from behind, smiling as James put an arm around her and kissed her.

What made it worse was that your parents chose that exact moment to come over, excitedly telling you that "This is James! He's your sister's fianceé!"

To make matters worse, your parents hadn't even told you that it was James that Dot was marrying. Just a "come to the engagement party to show support!" and nothing else.

If you could have, you would've given a nod, maybe even a smile, and politely tell them that you needed to FaceTime one of your other friends, and flee the scene.

And that was precisely what you did. You smiled at them, told your parents that you needed to FaceTime your group chat to tell your friends the good news, and left the room. You ran straight to the bathroom, locked yourself inside, and FaceTimed your friends, crying your eyes out.

When Dot and James eventually married, it was an extravagant affair. Many people you recognized in the upper middle class were there. Even kids you had gone to private school with had shown up. Heck, even your entire family showed up too.

You had been Dot and James’s Maid of Honor.

“I wouldn’t want anyone else,” she had told you honestly.

If the roles had been reversed and you had been the one getting married, you probably would’ve said the same.

So, you swallowed your pride and watched as Dot walked down the aisle escorted by your father and married James. You gave your Maid of Honor speech, and successfully hid the pain in your voice and eyes.

For the next two years, you were the third wheel to Dot and James. Dot and James, and you. You, and Dot and James. The happily married young couple and their sister/sister-in-law.

Everything had been manageable. Livable. Day by day, the pain became more and more acceptable.

Just for a second there, you were slowly coming to terms that yes; you were in love with your brother-in-law. But you loved your sister more. You wanted her to be happy. So you threw your feelings toward James out of the window like Prince Charming from Cinderella Three running after Cinderella and chasing the girl of his dreams.

Except in this scenario, you weren’t Cinderella and he wasn’t Prince Charming.

Nope.

You were Anastasia.

You weren’t all mad about that though. You liked her character development in the third movie. She became a truly fleshed-out character in Cinderella Three.

And like Anastasia from Cinderella Three, the worst day of your life happened.

You would never forget the day for as long as you lived.

Dot and James were discussing what they wanted to do on their second anniversary, and Dot had politely asked for your input. You had told her that since this wasn’t your marriage and you weren’t married to him, your opinion didn’t mean much.

It hadn’t been a lie. Because you were telling her the truth. You weren’t married to James; she was. So why should your opinion be weighed in? It was kinda redundant.

Dot however had persisted. Wanting your opinion. Even though you politely dismissed the idea entirely. And then, as if you couldn’t become even more uncomfortable, Dot brought up the idea that she should set you up on a blind date with one of James’s friends. That led you to point out that considering she was discussing it with you, it didn’t count as a blind date. Besides, you knew the majority of James’s friends already so it didn’t count.

But, she continued to probe and push. Like a kid poking at a bear with a stick.

She only stopped when James rectified the situation. At that moment, you were grateful for him and his interference.

Wishing your sister and James a happy anniversary, you spoke your goodbyes, hugged them both, and went back to your apartment.

Little did you know, that was the last time you’d ever speak to her. Because at eight in the morning, you had been awoken by your phone ringing. Text messages spamming your phone.

When you saw the text message to come to the penthouse, you scrambled out of bed, not even bothering to wash your face or brush your teeth; because you were in such a rush. When you finally arrived, it was absolute chaos. Your parents were there and they were crying. Some of your family members already showed up, and they were in tears.

The worst thoughts came to mind.

Had James or Dot got hurt?

Was one of them in the hospital?

Those thoughts became worse and worse as you made your way to the primary bedroom suite.

What you saw made you completely stop in your tracks.

Dot was there, in bed.

Except… she wasn’t moving. She laid there still. Unmoving. Her skin was paler than usual, and her lips had a twinge of blue. Jaundice was on her face.

Your mother was screaming and crying, but somehow, you tuned it out. It became white noise as you zeroed on your sister.

There you stood in the threshold of the door to the primary bedroom, looking on in horror as the thought solidified in your mind. Cementing it there.

Dot was dead.

She was gone.

“She… she was so healthy… I-I just saw her yesterday…”

From where he was sitting in the armchair near the corner, James stood up to his full height. You were so engrossed, the tears beginning their way down your face that you hadn’t even noticed him walk over to you.

“... do something.”

Your brain caught those words. Slowly, with your tear-streaked cheeks, your eyes saw those blue eyes.

Those blue eyes were full of grief. Full of pain. Your heart shattered into even more pieces; even more than when you were told that James was marrying Dot.

At that very moment, your romantic feelings toward James were gone. None of it was there. You didn’t focus on it.

“You know her more than anyone,” his voice sounded broken. “You… you… tell her to wake up. Wake her up, flower. Do it. Please.”

Deep in your heart, you knew you couldn’t wake her up.

Deep in your heart, you knew the soul-wrenching truth.

There would be no waking her up. She wouldn’t be waking up anymore. You wouldn’t be able to hug her. You wouldn’t be able to tell her that you loved and appreciated her. You wouldn’t be able to see her and James’s future pups and be the single cool wine aunt. You wouldn’t be able to show her the pups you would have with your future Alpha, because you wanted to have pups of your own.

And now, you would never be able to do those things with your sister. Never again. She had been ripped apart from you in the worst way possible.

A jerk of your shoulders pulled you back to the present. James had grabbed a hold of your shoulders, jerking you around like you were nothing.

“Do something!”

He shook you. He had you by the shoulders, his grip on you tight. He, like you, was crying too. He had been crying all morning.

He looked so angry. So grief-stricken. But when he shook you again, this time; his voice was louder. Firmer. People outside in the hallway and down the stairs heard him loud and clear.

“Why can’t you just fucking do something?!” He roared at you, lashing out.

It hit you.

It hit you like a ton of bricks.

For the first time, you snapped. You never had snapped at him. Never got angry at him. You could never get angry at him.

But in that moment, everything erupted. Everything broke and shattered like china plates falling on the floor.

You shoved him.

You shoved him quite hard.

Considering he was an Alpha, it was surprising. Alphas were stronger than Omegas.

Your sweet scent of peaches and deep cinnamon flared. It became more intense and was overlapping with his oceany, musky scent.

It made his eyes burn even further. It made him choke.

“Fuck you!” You roared back in kind.

James was caught off-guard. A look of surprise broke his grieving face.

“Dot might’ve been your wife, but she was my sister first!” You shrieked at him, continuing to push him further and further away from you.

Push. Push. Push.

Shove. Shove. Shove.

“Don’t you think I don’t want to wake her up? That if I did, she’d magically wake up and everything would be fine?” You were looking livid.

“Don’t you think I want that too?” You had shouted at him, your teeth chattering because you were just so angry at that moment.

“That’s enough.”

Your mother embraced you tight. “Come on,” she was whispering in your ear, “... we’ll go downstairs. Break the news. Together.”

The funeral had been emotional. You still only remembered bits and pieces of it to this day. Your mother remarked that you had been crying the entire time, and you had collapsed on your knees in the church when you spoke your final goodbye.

Only six months after Dot’s death, James had vanished in the middle of the night.

He had left a note. As if that made things better.

In the note, he stated that he was giving you full control of the company and that he would be traveling for a while. Finding himself, he had written.

The first few months after you had stepped up to the plate and accepted the CEO position, you had texted him.

Once. Twice. Three times in the span of a month.

Radio silence was what greeted you. Then, to make matters worse, you woke up on a random day and saw that he blocked you. On everything.

It had been a miracle that you hadn’t thrown your phone across the room.

Instead, what you did was change your number.

After you blocked James on everything, of course. If that was how he wanted to treat you, fine. You could be a bitch too.

Four years passed.

And as you stood on the balcony of the penthouse suite that was your official apartment overlooking the Big Apple, the sounds of New York buzzed down below you.

Because New York never slept.

It truly was the best city in the world. At least in your opinion.

Clad in nothing but a crimson-colored nightgown, the slight breeze nipped at you. It was nice.

For a moment for the first time in a while, you could feel like you could actually take a moment to breathe.

Your Omega certainly agreed with you. She was silent, looming and lingering in the cage of your mind.

In the last four years, she bidded her time. Her Alpha had run away from her, tail in between his legs to cope with his grief. She knew what coping with grief felt like. She only had been doing it for the past four years, after all.

But the way he had done things infuriated her! Pissed her off! Made her want to chase him down and chew his head off with the way he treated her!

However, she instead chose the good path and fill in the shoes that her Alpha left her to fill. Even though she didn’t want to. But she knew she had to.

She had no choice.

You had no choice.

Although, you weren’t gonna lie; the position was nice once you got used to it. After four years of running the company as a CEO, you fell into a routine. You didn’t dread going to the office. You actually liked going to the office and seeing everyone.

Maybe it was your way of coping with Dot’s death. Maybe it was your way to keep your shield around your heart when James had shattered it. Maybe it was your way of rebuilding your life again.

Speaking of your heart…

Turning around, you walked back inside the penthouse, closing and making sure to lock the balcony door behind you. Checking it twice, you took out your phone and tapped at the screen, making sure that every room was safe. The front doors and the garage doors were closed and locked.

Everything was safe.

But you knew that not even the Big Apple was safe enough.

Dot’s death had been enough proof for that. To this day, you still didn’t know how she passed. The coroner told the family that she must’ve had a heart problem.

Still, you were wary.

With a sigh and a shake of your head, you continued on your trek to your room. It was pretty hefty. Nine rooms, three bedrooms. Three full baths and one partial. The partial one was nice for your housekeeper’s dog. Yelena Belova, a fellow Omega owned an America Akita. Fanny was small and very cute. But in need of grooming though. Yelena told you Fanny’s messy fur was a part of her personality, but you were more focused on if Fanny could see or not.

Such things made you a little reserved when Fanny was brought over. Yelena cleaned your home once a week, and always brought Fanny. It was a treat. You were even thinking about adopting a pet so Fanny wouldn’t be so lonely.

That thought was enough to quell your nerves. Soothe you. It was enough to make you not think of anything when you finally reached the primary bedroom upstairs.

Your bedroom.

Flopping right onto your bed, you sighed. You didn’t even bother to crawl under the sheets, because you were so tired.

Almost immediately, you shut your eyes closed.

Maybe you’d be able to finally get some sleep.

Later that morning…

“Ma’am?”

You were still typing on your laptop, intent on finishing this email so you could get to the meeting you had in a few minutes with a potential investor.

“Ma’am?”

Your head peeked up from the screen, so you could finally see the person who wanted your attention.

“Oh, Peter!”

Peter Parker, your assistant looked at you nervously. He was holding his iPad in his hands. He looked so nervous and skittish. As always, when he was around you. The twenty-three-year-old young Alpha was so kind and considerate with you, doing everything you asked of him with proficiency.

“Hi, sorry.” You apologized. “I’m just trying to finish up this email before I head to my next meeting. Is there anything you needed to ask? You know you can ask me anything.”

Nervously, Peter offered you a small smile. The brunet-haired young man was a good kid. You still remembered how adventurous you were when you were his age. Now, you were the sole CEO of the company your parents had once owned. They were mostly retired now, but they still attended parties.

“Oh. Did you need to ask about the party?” You inquired.

“Yes ma’am,” Peter confirmed. He handed his iPad over to you, and you looked down at the screen.

“Let’s see… catering, decorations, invite… uh-huh, uh-huh, yup… looks about right…” were the only words that you spoke as you scrolled down the list, confirming things or saying that particular things hadn’t quite been done yet. You were quick and precise, so when you eventually looked up, you were finished.

“Okay. The catering and decorations are good. The invite list looks to be right too. Everything looks good.” You concluded.

“Okay. Thanks, ma’am.” Relief showed on Peter’s face.

“You don’t have to be so formal,” you chuckled. Giving you yet another nervous smile, Peter’s head bobbed up and down quickly. It reminded you of a bobblehead, which just amused you.

“If there’s anything else I need to know, you can shoot me a text,” you reminded him as you got up from the chair. It was a rolling chair. Cause you liked those. They were always so fun to sit in and roll yourself around as a young pup. Even now, you looked absolutely delighted.

“Right.”

You walked out of your office, followed by Peter. Both of you walked down the long hallway, passing by employees alike.

“Say, ma’am…” You looked at him as you continued to walk toward the elevators.

“Yeah?”

“Do you…” he swallowed a little, “... do you ever miss him?”

Him.

James.

“I⎯” you were quick to catch yourself before you said something you’d probably regret. “Well… sometimes. I’ve been trying to… cope with it. When he left, it kinda broke me further, y’know? He and I, we’ve always been close. Other than my sister, we’ve always been good friends.”

And I’ve always been in love with him too, so there’s that.

It was ironic.

Four years had gone by and even though you tried your best to keep yourself going, to just keep chugging along and live to see the next day⎯ James would always creep back up in your mind. Like an itch that popped up every once and a while.

“It was shitty though, don’t you think?” Peter’s voice broke you out of your thoughts.

“Hmm?” You were giving him your full attention again. The two of you stopped in front of the two elevators, and he pressed the second button to go down to the conference room.

“That he just left. He left a note. He didn’t even bother saying goodbye to you.” Peter said, making you remember.

You couldn’t help yourself.

You mulled over it again. Somehow, someway, you heard his voice in your head again, like he was narrating an audiobook when you remembered his letter.

“My dearest family…”

Even after all these years, you didn’t like remembering his note. Sure, it had been his own handwriting. You knew what his handwriting looked like.

But even now, you still felt like his letter had been just that.

A letter.

Words on paper were nothing compared to the real thing. Why did he just pack up some of his stuff and just get up and leave without warning you? Telling you that he was going to go traveling for a while?

You understood needing space. You had told your family, your friends, and even James that you needed time to cope. You couldn’t be the daughter, the friend, the sister-in-law that everyone needed. You just couldn’t be that person at that time.

You weren’t even quite sure if anyone else understood that you just weren’t that person anymore. You weren’t even quite sure if anyone could even see how different you were now.

Maybe it was the fact that you had put all so many walls, so many barriers between yourself and everyone else in the world to make sure that you weren’t hurt again.

Your sister had been taken away from you.

Your parents had distanced themselves from you.

Your brother-in-law, the only love of your life that you’d ever known up until that point had left you.

You realized that really; the only person you could rely on was yourself. No one would be there to hold out a hand when you would be close to falling.

It was just you now.

“No. No. I… you aren’t really wrong. For a couple of months after that… I didn’t really talk to anyone. But I think… I think that he was coping too. In his own way. Everything just reminded him of Dot. Even me.” You admitted. It was something you thought about almost every day after James had left. Fled to god knows where. India maybe? Europe? Wherever the hell he went.

“Sometimes people just need to be alone, Peter. And that’s okay. It might not look right or sound right, but it’s life.”

The elevator doors finally dinged. They pushed open, and both of you walked inside. Peter pressed the button to close the elevator doors.

And neither of you said anything else after that.

Valentines' Day List: Ranking The Disney Princess Couples

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Whether you are with the love of your life, still waiting for Cupid's arrow, or are 100% happy single, I hope that you are having a wonderful day. So for the past couple of years, I've been doing lists for the holiday. A Top 10 Ships list (that is now outdated hence why no link), Top 10 Disney Couples, Top 5 Disney Love Songs, and a Top 5 Spones Episode List for Star Trek TOS. What's in the cards this year?

Well after forgetting, the only thing I could come up with was a Ranking List. In this case, we're going through all the main Disney Princess pairings and I will rank them from least favorite to favorite. I'm also going to count Frozen cause why not? However, this will NOT include Merida, Moana, and Elsa as they do not have any canonical love interests at the time of this writing. Also a note for Pocahontas, I am focusing this based simply on the context within the film. We know about the inaccuracies and such that I don't feel like going into here, so just be aware that I am talking about the pairing simply based on the in-film interpretation. And of course, these are just my opinions, so please take it all with a grain of salt.

Everything clear? Good. Then let's begin!

#11. Snow White/The Prince

Right at the bottom is the first ever Disney Princess romance. No, it has nothing to do with the whole 'he kissed her while she was asleep' argument. People have tried to demonize the film by saying the prince denied Snow White's consent and I could write a whole essay on why that's stupid... and I kinda sorta did a few years back. But The Prince is ultimately a plot device with little to no screentime and not even extended material to y knowledge has seemed to do much to further the relationship. The guy doesn't even have a name (Florian is the one I see pop up the most but IDK how official it is). It may be one of my very few fleeting hopes for the remake to explore like they did Cinderella.

That's pretty much my only complaint. It's fine. It's cute. I'm happy that Snow White is able to finally be happy after all the Hell the Queen put her through. But that's really all that I can say about it. It's just... a thing that exists cause we need the kiss to awaken Snow White. But hey, everything's gotta start somewhere and without this we wouldn't have had anything else. So it deserves our respect.

#10. Anna/Kristoff

Back when Frozen came out, it was praised for addressing and calling out Disney's cliched 'fall in love at first sight/marry a guy he girl just met' trope. It's meant to be against rushing romance, especially when you know absolutely nothing about the guy... and then proceeded to do precisely that with Anna and Kristoff. Oops. I think the two are cute and fit together, don't get me wrong. But Dear God their development is REALLy bad. It's very rushed and comes out of nowhere which I wouldn't have an issue with... but because the movie outright rubbed in our faces how you shouldn't do this and that is a bad thing, it makes it really hard to ignore. And trust me, I tried. And no, Anna waiting like... a day or so longer than with Hans doesn't excuse the execution. Really the whole message when taken as a critique of the there Princess films is incredibly problematic and outright inaccurate, but that's for another day.

I go back and forth on how much I like these two as a couple. You can even see how different my opinion was back when the film first came out. Anna is my favorite character while Kristoff is okay and gets more 'meh' as time passes. I watch them during the movie and like their interactions, but they come off more like bickering buddies than anything prior to them finding Elsa. Then Kristoff worries and cares for Anna... and then Fixer Upper happens and it feels even MORE forced. Then in Frozen II, Anna misunderstands Kristoff various times and ultimately ditches him without really any thought or care about it in order to support Elsa. Which is great, sisterly love and all and to be fair she did apologize, but it really shows how much the film really didn't care about their relationship. That's not going into how the movie in general treated Kristoff as useless with even Olaf being more relevant and like he was just there cause there would be questions about where he was otherwise. But then we get to him proposing and Anna's reaction and... God these two give me so many mixed signals.

If I have to accept that Frozen III is happening, I REALLY hope that they give Anna and Kristoff the treatment that they deserve. Because ironically in the first film's attempt to call out rushed romances, it created one itself with all the problems that it tried to criticize its predecessors over. It's far from the worst romance ever, it has a lot of cute moments and I do think that the two are a good match. I just need the films to realize that.

#9. Pocahontas/John Smith

As I said, we are going to just focus on how this is presented in the film and leave it at that. These two are... okay. Pocahontas is a film that legit gets me emotional and has since I was a kid. But looking back, even now knowing the actual history, I wonder '...why did this have to be a romance at all?'. I know they were going for a Romeo and Juliet vibe, but I feel like it may have been stronger had Pocahontas not been aged up and just became friends with John, ultimately willing to risk her own life to save him and stop the bloodshed. It would certainly cause fewer ugh... unfortunate implications, let's just say that.

I feel like I like the atmosphere and presentation more than the actual relationship. The film has so much beauty and Alan Mencken's score is just so beautiful. Whenever I watch everything from Pocahontas visiting John before his execution to the very last scene of her waving goodbye as the ship sails away... dang it, the emotions! You all have no idea how many times I've listened to the end credits version of If I Never Knew You. There is a reason I listed that as my Favorite Disney Love Song a few years back.

But once I finish the movie and get back down from the emotional high, I think it over and again go '...why is this a romance? did it really need to be?'. And I kind of just forget about it until I decide to put the movie on again. I can never bring myself to hate this film due to how it impacted me, though I acknowledge its problems and how upsetting it can be for people. But ultimately the romance is just forgettable at best to the point that I sometimes wonder if the second movie pairing Pocahontas with her RL husband John Rolfe really was that bad of a move. But best to not think too much more on that

#8. Aurora/Phillip

This is Snow White/The Prince done better. Not a surprise since the film reused some of the early ideas for Snow White, but still. Of the three original princesses, this is the best-done relationship. This may make you wonder why Cinderella ranks above it, but I'll go into that in that entry. So these two are cute. Phillip certainly proved his love by fighting Maleficent and her forces and by his kiss awakening Aurora. As I said above, the 'the kiss was non-consensual' argument is a non-issue for me and we're just gonna leave it at that.

There's not a lot more to say honestly. They had a bit more development in their meeting than Snow and her prince did, we have Phillip saving her, and... yeah that's it. I don't dislike them by any means. I can't think of any negative points aside from maybe it's rushed, but that was just the nature of things back then. It's a Hell of a lot better than how it goes in the original stories. I like it better than the other three I already listed, just not as much as the seven below. That's really it. Sometimes you just like something cause you do, nothing wrong with that.

#7. Mulan/Shang

You would think that this would be near the top considering that Mulan is my favorite movie of all time. But I never loved it due to its romance, which while not irrelevant is a side-element compared to it being so major in the other seven previous films. Mulan isn't driven by love like Aladdin and Aurora, nor is it love at first sight like Snow White and Cinderella. She meets Shang while posing as a boy and he's her commanding officer. Before we go further, for this film at least Shang being Mulan's superior is a non-issue, especially since nothing happens until Mulan's out of the military anyways.

These two are cute. They start off simply as commander and trainee and Shang is frustrated with 'Ping', even kicking 'him' out. But Mulan refuses to give up and earns Shang's respect, and even friendship. She outright risks her life to save him during the avalanche despite being injured, that's nothing to sneeze at. She's clearly crushing on Shang and Shang may be crushing on 'Ping', I'm not very qualified to go into that since I honestly never saw it. His feelings get more complicated after discovering the truth and he's upset... but it doesn't last too long with him ultimately trusting and accepting Mulan and her abilities. Then we get awkward Shang at the end and it just cracks me up XD

We end the film with the early signs of them forming a relationship and being able to get to know each other. Shang gets to know Mulan as she truly is. Mulan gets to know Shang away from the battlefield and from him being her captain. Mulan II focused on them getting engaged... and that's all I wanna say about it. Yeah, as much as I love Mulan and like the two fine, the romance meant very little to me over the focus on finding one's true self. But I know that especially for the bisexual crowd, Shang was so important to people and this relationship in turn means something to people. And that is a beautiful thing. But for me they're good and they rank above the others cause it's Mulan.

#6. Belle/Beast

There was a time when I was indifferent to the film, let alone the romance that is at the heart of it. But now that I'm older and especially seeing all the arguments about them from all sides, those times have changed. I love them. Are they perfect? No. Beast is a temperamental brat who only wants Belle's love to break the spell. Belle is there only because she took her father's place and wants nothing to do with the Beast and his behavior. It seems like they're a match made in Hell... but then something happens. They change. Belle, after the Beast saves her from the wolf, is grateful and ultimately tends to his wounds because she's just too kind, but still stands up for herself. Beast, touched by this kindness, finds he wants to return it and starts to experience happiness for what may be the first time in his life.

When it becomes clear that the Beast is a damaged person who despite his issues is able to make himself a better person is when things change. The Beast doesn't become kinder for Belle... well okay maybe a little but that's not the main thing. The Beast became kinder because of Belle, as shown when he gives up his chance to become human again so that Belle can rescue her father. Why? Because he loved her so much that he let her go. And Belle tried to defend the Beast from the village and returned to try and save him, proving how much she'd grown to care for him.

The Beast gave Belle the one thing that she wanted: to be loved for who she was. Not because of her beauty. Not as some kind of trophy. But because the Beast genuinely loved her. A love that she returned and thus freed the Beast from the curse. It's such a beautiful love story. Is it for everyone? No. As much as I've disagreed with some of the arguments, I can see why the Beast's behavior may make people uncomfortable and how it may enforce an 'I can change them!' mindset even if indirectly. But I think that this is that kind of story done well with Belle never letting the Beast treat her poorly and the Beast taking it upon himself to change. They bring out the best in each other and earned their happy ending. And when it comes to tales as old as time, that's all I could ever want.

#5. Cinderella/Prince Charming

Some of these rankings were due to movie preferences. Chances are I would have ranked Aurora/Phillip above Mulan/Shang, but since I had similar feelings about both it boiled down to me liking Mulan more than Sleeping Beauty. Which is why Cinderella/Charming ended up here in Number Five. Let's face it, they have a similar issue as Snow/The Prince with Charming IDT ever having an on-screen name until the live-action remake. If I was counting the remakes I would use Ella/Kit's relationship as a justification for the placement and it may have even been higher, but I'm not so ah well.

Some of it boils down to nostalgia. Cinderella was one of the first movies I ever saw and is very special to me. Another big reason is what the relationship means for Cinderella herself. Cinderella endured significant emotional abuse, but always found a way to remain kind. Especially after her step-family destroyed her mother's dress, seeing her at the ball and just so happy as she dances with the prince is beautiful. And Charming looking up, seeing her, and forgetting about everything else as he personally approaches her, especially with how bored he'd been with all the girls going up to him? Perfection. 100% perfection.

Sadly, Charming has the same issue as Snow White's prince in being more of a plot device than an actual character, hence why I can't rank this higher. To Disney's credit they have given Charming a few moments of characterization in other works such as the DTV films, the third one especially doing him a LOT of good. But even without it, sometimes you just like a ship because you like seeing the one-half happy. Seeing Cinderella happy and loved at long last? How could I ask for anymore reason to love these two?

#4. Ariel/Eric

These two are adorable and I love them. Is it another fast-paced one? Yeah, although at least we kind of have a justification for it. Speaking of said justification. Yes, Ariel made a rash decision in becoming human. Does that make her and Eric's relationship bad? No. Eric is what Ariel always imagined about humans. He's friendly, brave, and outright risks his life to save his dog. Who wouldn't fall for that? He's also the first human that Ariel got to see up close and thus she becomes infatuated. Chances are it would have stayed like that if her father didn't take the actions that he did and Ursula used Eric as the catalyst for Ariel taking the deal.

When we finally get the two to interact, it's just adorable. Ariel is living out her dream with her crush. Eric, although infatuated with the mermaid that saved him, is nothing but kind to Ariel. He, a royal who could leave Ariel with anyone else and leave it at that, takes what he thinks is a shipwrecked mute girl back to his home and gives her the royal treatment just because he's a good man. The two's interactions are just so cute with Ariel being so excited and expressive even without her voice and Eric being won over. It's just... dang it they're so cute!!! AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Is the pairing perfect? No. I get it, it's rushed and overly idealistic. Do I care? No. It's a Disney Fairy Tale. I'm here for the warm fuzzies, not cynical reality. And these two ALWAYS give me the warm fuzzies. It's at Number 4 only because I think the Top 3 have more development between the pairings, but it's still in one of the top spots. People will likely always criticize the movie for Ariel and her decisions and I guess we'll see if the remake addresses those things. But for me, I'll always love these two and getting to be a part of their world.

#3. Tiana/Naveen

This could have easily been a miss. Tiana's an independent working woman aiming for her dreams, sacrificing any free time and personal life to do so. Naveen is a spoiled playboy who loves to party and has no sense of responsibility which has caused him to be cut off and left to his own devices. They are such opposite personalities. It would be so easy to make us hate their interactions and make the pairing seem forced. But despite how fast-paced it is, it doesn't feel forced at all.

Not only is it fun to watch these two bicker and clash over their differing lifestyles, but they really did need each other. Naveen needed Tiana to realize his flaws and find the initiative to both take responsibility and have the drive to care for someone outside himself. Tiana needed Naveen to realize that there's more to life than just working and to see that even if she can't reach her dream she has what she needs: love. It's so cute when the two start to bond and start to realize what the other person needs, willing to sacrifice their own needs for that person. They even accept being frogs when it seems they've lost their chance, happy that they can be together.

As I said it's very fast-paced. It's kind of a common trend in the Disney Princess films directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. Yet they somehow do it SO freakin' well. Like I said it was so easy to screw this pair up, but Tiana and Naveen are well-written characters who don't cross the line into annoying and their development comes off as more funny and sweet than annoying. They're great and I love them~!

#2. Aladdin/Jasmine

I adore them so much. I can say that about most of these, but these two? IDK what it is. Maybe it's A Whole New World. Maybe it's the beautiful magic carpet ride along the night sky. I don't know, but I know I love it. Aladdin's a street rat who wants to be seen as more. Jasmine is a princess who just wants her freedom. When the two meet it's love at first sight. Their interactions are so cute and natural and their chemistry just sparks instantly. Despite being from completely different worlds, they connect to feeling trapped in their lives and it's just so beautiful and God I love it~!

The only issue is Aladdin feels unworthy because he's a street rat and Jasmine is obligated by law to marry a prince. Thus once he gets the lamp, he decides to lie and act like he thinks a prince would. What goes horribly wrong as Jasmine is no prize to be won. She liked Aladdin because he treated her as a person and related to her. As far as she's concerned, Prince Ali is just another stuck-up asshole who wanted her for her looks and money and she ain't having it. It's only when Aladdin drops the act and acts like himself that he starts to win Jasmine over, even if he still lies once she figures out he was the same boy she met before.

Once the truth is revealed and Aladdin proves himself by saving the kingdom, the two are free to be together. Aladdin chooses to be true to himself. Jasmine is given the freedom to choose who she wants to love. Jasmine loves Aladdin because he loves her for her. Aladdin loves Jasmine because of her independence and beauty inside and out. It's again a very fast romance, arguably the biggest offender of the 'love at first sight and makes bad decisions due to it' argument (which ironically Aladdin is probably THE most guilty protagonist of this yet he never gets heat unlike the girls, but that's all I'll say). But I don't care. They are adorable and the extended material, DTVs, and the series only made me love them more. I recommend the episode The Secret of Dagger Rock where you get to see what happens when you both kidnap Jasmine's man AND make her mad. You'll NEVER question why Aladdin fell for her when you see that XD

As much as I love these two, there was only one real choice for number one. And it wasn't even close. You all know what it is.

#1. Rapunzel/Eugene

I normally hate going for the obvious, but sometimes there's a reason that it's... well, the obvious. I love these two together so much. Admittedly that can be blamed on the series to some degree, which also really helped Aladdin and Jasmine be in the number two spot. But even discounting that I just love their relationship so much. It starts off as hilarious then becomes sweeter and sweeter until by the end you're bawling your eyes out from sadness then from pure happiness.

Rapunzel is a sheltered girl wanting to see beyond her tower. Eugene, going by Flynn Ryder, is a thief pretending to be something he's not. When the two meet at first Rapunzel has him agree to take her to see the lanterns and Flynn is trying to trick her into giving back the crown he stole. But ultimately they start to bond with Flynn revealing his true name and Rapunzel letting him know about her magic hair, Rapunzel is finally able to connect with someone away from Mother Gothel and Eugene is able to be himself and trust someone after only being with himself for so long.

There are just so many beautiful moments after that. The two having fun in the kingdom with Eugene going out of his way to ensure that Rapunzel has the best time imaginable. The two talking about dreams and finding a new one. The entire I See the Light sequence, which is one of the most beautiful Disney moments ever. Then the ending where Rapunzel is willing to be locked away by Gothel forever just to save Eugene. Eugene, despite dying slowly and painfully, cuts Rapunzel's hair to free her. "He chooses that over his own life"You were my new dream." Just... just everything oh my God. Now, of course, Eugene survives and the two get their happily ever after, and out of all of the happily ever afters, theirs feel the most powerful and it only got better in the series.

Just talking about it now makes me emotional. It's just so beautiful and pure and everything I dream of when it comes to love. These are two people that found what they needed in each other and they're both willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the other's sake. It's done in such a fun yet beautiful way and I just love them. I know I've said that about almost all of these, but this one? Aside from Mickey and Minnie, this is the best romance that Disney has ever done bar none. It is my favorite of the Disney Princess romances and while I know to never say never, it's gonna be tough to ever top this one.

They cling to each other, shortly before the movie Jino teased Roy about how scared he was probably gonna get to which he strongly denied. Then they were both scared and held onto each other at nearly every jumpscare. They’ve agreed not to tell Maru.

Who asks weird questions in the middle of the night? 

They probably both have at different points in time. The first time tho it was Roy sorta just thinking out loud, he thought Jino was asleep and was not expecting him to respond, especially not with serious interest.

Who falls asleep on the other?

Jino definitely falls asleep on Roy. He initially just leans on Roy while Roy’s reading or something and refuses to move then eventually falls asleep. Roy’s arm has long fallen asleep so what’s a little while longer.

Who eats the other’s uneaten pizza crusts?

What do you mean? Ari, obvi. I think Roy tells Jino he’s childish for not eating them, but he eats Jino’s pizza crusts for him, anyway, as they are the best part of the pizza.

Who talks smack while playing video games? 

Jino 1000%. Roy will talk smack back but Jino starts it every time, without fail.

Who would throw the other in the pool?

Jino’s definitely thrown Roy into the pool before, probably more than once.

Roy is the better carer but Jino makes better soup.

Who cooks normally? 

They are learning to cook together, but it’s Roy. It’s like 15% together, 55% Roy, 30% Jino.

Jino made the first move, he was going to play it off as a joke but then when Roy actually reacted to it in a way that told Jino that there might be something there.

Who kissed who first? 

Roy kissed Jino first. They’d been dating for a while already and it had come up the other day so he was mentally working up to it. Everyone thought it’d be Jino first tho.

How often do they fight and over what?

They fight over the little things all the time but all in good fun. They only have big fights every once in a while and seeing as they are protectors of sorts with their whole watch car thing, it probably is about decisions and stuff about that.

Who’s the first one to fix things after a fight?

Uh unless Jino actually hurt Roy’s feelings, it’s Roy. He’ll bring back up the issue they fought over and discuss it all at a level tone and everything, which Jino acts like he hates but really appreciates, especially since it helps get them through each point.

Who talks about the other more without noticing? 

Jino, definitely. Ari and Maru have teased him about this and he got self-conscious for two seconds, but in the long run he still never catches it himself. 

Who steals the other’s clothes?

So Jino on occasion might steal something of Roy, Roy on the other hand, he “doesn’t steal” Jino’s clothes or anything it’s just that sometimes things like Jino leaving his jacket with Roy, and well Jino having yet to return a couple of Roy’s jackets so he might as well wear Jino’s jacket, he’s the one who left it. 

Which of their friends is over-joyed shipper trash that they are together?

Probably Ari, she's happy they're happy and that she can gather things to use against them she credits herself as to how/why they got together whether it's true or not, but also Maru is all over teasing them and follows up all the time with them on their relationship.

For Sydari and Teldryn: 11, 33, and 45!

Time for me to actually work on them as a couple!

11. Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?

Sydari has been trying to express how she feels verbally. She used to drown her sorrows out in a skooma-enhanced haze but a very close call made her stop doing that. She's gotten better at talking about it but it doesn't come naturally. She's afraid she'll be judged and tends to just... word-vomit the problem.

When she's upset she'll be silent, fuming, calculating Teldryn knows this because he does it too. Her shoulders tend to slump and she shrinks back into herself quite a bit. She becomes small, and it scares him a little, she's usually so bright and energetic. He's not used to her getting quiet like that, that's his job. He's, he's not good at the emotional stuff but he knows when she's quiet, she needs comfort. He can manage that. He can listen. He likes to feel needed, it's become another addiction.

Teldryn has so much turmoil locked up that it'll just spill out. He's in a near-permanent mood. He mostly relies on drinking his feelings until he passes out. He'll do it again as soon as he remembers why he started doing it in the first place. If he's mad he has some trouble controlling his pyrotechnics. Things have a tendency to catch alight.

Sydari has started to notice that the alcohol isn't just harmless fun. He's taken it too far a few too many times but he won't tell her why. She's been trying to coax it out of him. Something that happened in Morrowind a long time ago. Like a really long time ago. If she's honest, she's a bit confused because his timelines don't match up. He doesn't look like he was "around before Red Mountain". She's confused by it and she can't get any info out of Geldis or Aphia about it. Something about "when he's ready, he'll tell you", she just wants someone to give her some insight.

He's been trying to tell her in his own way, he thinks leaving some history books around might give her a hint. He doesn't know that she can't read the language in any of those tomes that he's left on her nightstand.

When she finds out it's explosive.

33. Who's the better cook?

Sydari is the one who does the cooking when they're on the road, Teldryn has almost no sense of taste and his sense of smell is iffy unless the scent is particularly pungent. If he's cooking he'll add way too much chili oil to the food, it's all he can taste. Everything just tastes like ash, ash and salt. If he's cooking no one else can eat the food. It's absolutely ruined. He doesn't think that that's everyone else's problem. No, Sydari makes the food, she'd actually like to taste something outside of burning! Ideally, the two of them would hit Geldis up for food. Geldis is the cook. Geldis actually knows how to cook, that's why he runs the inn. Plus he knows how to cook for Teldryn's preferences (You add his preference at the end, at the goddamn end with plating!).

Severin Manor has colour-coded dishes now, and so does their travel gear. It's been switched way too many times and Teldryn can't deal with dairy so... It's better if their things are separate. Separate but together.

45. Can they fall asleep without the other?

They're used to sleeping alone, they've always slept alone. It's been an adjustment since they're both quilt hogs and they spend a lot of time in the cold. Teldryn tends to hug during the night and he runs hot. It's a constant fight between being too hot and then freezing after kicking off the blankets...which then get stolen.

Sydari talks in her sleep and flails a bit. She's also a light sleeper so every noise wakes her. Teldryn snores and sleeps like a log. You can't wake him, he's dead to the world.

They have their own separate beds and their own rooms. This is mostly because they travel together prior to actually defining their relationship (it just sorta merges into a romantic thing organically, they kinda do things a bit backwards though, certain milestones happen out of order, get forgotten and then happens again... whoops).

When they actually do make things official towards the later part of the Main Quest they compromise. They're doing a lot of travelling between holds so the tent situation remains the same. They just put up one tent, one of them takes watch whilst the other sleeps. If they're staying in a tavern or in one of Sydari's homes they use two blankets. They kinda get used to their weird way of sleeping, so when Sydari leaves to go to Sovngarde and Teldryn can't follow her well he stops being able to sleep of his own volition. He stops sleeping, Sydari isn't sleeping much either but for different reasons.

They'll get their normal, one day.
