AU List
Hello! Welcome! This is my attempt at keeping the AU's boiuncing around in my head in order. They should be mostly in chronological order.
Some of them are getting turned into full length fics! The list (and it's open to suggestions) can be found here: Fic List
A couple of things:
Please feel free to write your own fics based on any of these! No need to ask, simply link it so I can also read it <3
If you have any specific scenarios you have an idea for and would like me to write- my asks/prompts are always open! I can't guarantee quality as I do most of my writing at like, 3 AM but I'll try my best!
I don't condone racism, bigotry, homophobia, etc.. I do not welcome it here. I acknowledge that I have biases that I've yet to unlearn. If there's something that makes you feel unwelcome in the things I write, please let me know and I will fix it ASAP.
I write these mostly on little to no sleep (that’s when I get creative I guess?) so good luck.

the reason why nu52 Dick is so simultaneously messy and yet boring is because they don't let him be bitchy enough whilst simultaneously making him a little bitch
sdfsdfdsfs I don't totally understand what this means and yet I feel like I agree with the spirit, anon <3
Tumblr media
Outsiders 21 - preboot Dick yelling at Bruce my beloved
Yeah, caveat that there's plenty of nu52 Dick stuff that I haven't read and I don't think it's all bad, but also... man, he is not for me. As far I'm concerned, the main good thing that came out of n52/Rebirth is some setups for sad!Dick fanfic. And yeah, "Dick is not bitchy enough" is actually a pretty good summary of my complaints sdfdsfs
The thing is, nu52 Dick has some similarities to preboot Tim, in that he'll sometimes be insincerely fake-cheerful even when actually upset, plus he periodically seems uncomfortable with direct confrontation so instead he lies to avoid confrontation. And mmm I mean, I like these qualities in preboot Tim, so it's not like I think these are terrible traits to have!!
BUT :
1) Preboot Tim has no authority. But preboot Dick does, and it's frustrating to take it away from him in nu52.
There's some post-2011 panel where Dick lies to Batman and is cheery about it, a la Tim bragging to his friends about lying to Batman in Teen Titans, and I had to stare at it for ages trying to figure out why it felt like such a record scratch moment to me.
But it's because there is a huge difference between a presumably independent superhero lying to another superhero vs. a sidekick and his sidekick friends secretly joyriding in Batman's car.
Like, Tim lies to authority figures more-or-less constantly, because he doesn't want to be told what to do, but also because - importantly!! - those authority figures reasonably assume they have authority over him that he has to evade. Of course he tries to avoid direct confrontation with the JLA / Batman / Red Tornado / Starfire - they're not his equals and a direct confrontation would end badly!
Whereas Nightwing lying to Batman feels like putting him in a subordinate position in a way that preboot Dick never is. Preboot Dick always tells Batman off to his face, because preboot Dick cares about being equals and refuses to accept being subordinate. He doesn't sneak around behind Bruce's back - he fights back! If he doesn't agree with Bruce's position, he tries to argue Bruce into his own. He'll do stuff without asking Bruce's permission, but he won't conceal it; he'll make a point of making sure Bruce knows what he did and also that he isn't sorry.
2) Preboot Tim's lying / tendency to be fake with people is a consistent personality trait that's also consistently problematized. nu52 Dick's characterization is wildly all over the map.
In preboot, Tim is a liar and obsessive compartmentalizer, which is both a strength (disguises, sneaking around authority) and a problem (loved ones who are hurt by it). He's self-aware about his lies, periodically resolves to lie less, and generally fails at it.
Tim's consistent enough that you can track this character trait in all his relationships: he lies to his dad. He lies to Batman. He lies to his girlfriends. He refuses to tell Babs his real name for ages for basically no reason. He stalks Dick and then tries to run away from him in his origin story and then tries to avoid telling Dick his name. And this evasiveness consistently causes him problems!! Dick's suspicious of him. Ariana's suspicious of him. His dad is suspicious of him. Young Justice and Steph get annoyed with his secret-keeping. Young Justice want him to take off the mask. Steph wants to know his real name. When she finds out and calls him by his real name, he has a panic attack and literally runs away. When upset, he insists he's fine and fake-smiles at people. In Teen Titans, when Tim's busy being fake-cheerful and Conner is startled to see him there right after his dad died, Tim gets upset and angry at Conner and demands that he not tell anyone about Jack. Fine, Conner says, I guess it's another secret. In AC 3, he's lying to Conner again and Conner accuses him of having an insincere "Starfire voice," which is a hilarious callback to Tim being fake-agreeable-yet-secretly-bitchy at Kory when he first meets her. I feel like I get that the lying is a Tim Character Trait which is sometimes endearing and sometimes less so and which all the people who love him are gonna have different feelings about.
By contrast, nu52 Dick spends a ton of time lying but it's hard for me to model his characterization in the same way? He's sometimes fake and ... sometimes that's totally cool and sometimes people punch him! also, does it say something about him? ehhhhh maybe? no? who can say!! At the end of nu52 Nightwing, he doesn't want to go undercover and Bruce beats him up, but then in Grayson he seems totally on board with his mission and willing to actively lie to everyone, and then in Batman and Robin Eternal he carries out a whole secret mission behind nuTim's back because he thinks nuTim is maybe a spy and is scared (?) of confronting him directly, but also he's so sloppy about it that he gets followed and the bad guys find nuTim's parents. Oopsie! He represents The Heart and is super-caring but also somewhat ditzy with a tendency to leap before he looks, and also he's very very very goodlooking and Grayson would really like you to know that.
You can try to make sense of this character's internal motivations and I have read various enjoyable fanfics that do, but in the comics I don't feel like he's clearly characterized.
3) Dick should be a convincing team leader
I know I kind of talked about this earlier but it bothers me SO MUCH that I have to talk about it again dsfdsfds
Preboot Dick is a natural leader: he seizes control of the feuding personalities in the Fab Five; he does the same thing in the NTT; he stands up to Bruce. He can overrule strong personalities like Pantha and Roy; he can hold his ground against the Outsiders. He doesn't back down and he doesn't quit. He's got instinctive authority, and he's a forceful and aggressive enough leader that he can lead teams even when his teammates are feuding or difficult or arguing with each other. Sometimes he's a little too forceful and it backfires on him, but for the most part, it works!
By contrast, nu52 Dick often comes off as kinda... hapless? He's definitely not a force to be reckoned with.
Like, just to take one small example, in post-Crisis's Red Robin 14, Tim and Damian are fighting and Dick wants them to cut it out, so he throws a batarang at Tim's staff and snaps at him, and the fight stops immediately. By contrast, in nu52's Batman and Robin 10, Tim and Damian are arguing and Dick wants them to cut it out, but nuDick is incapable of confronting anyone over anything so he just sighs about it, passive-aggressive and ineffectual.
And "ineffectual" is too often the vibe I get from n52 Dick in general. You put that man with Pantha, and he'll probably be bemused, but he won't be able to make Pantha do anything, and he wouldn't be able to make Danny Chase do anything, and he can't or won't stand up to Bruce so he has to lie the way Tim does, and he would never have a fistfight with Roy over the proper way to lead a team.
And in a lot of ways this makes sense, because n52 Dick isn't a team leader, because they've deleted the Titans. He's just a guy. He's nice, I guess.
But even though he gets all kinds of excellent woobie plotlines that I'd normally enjoy (an evil organization is stalking him personally! his dad is beating him up and forcing him into becoming a spy! he's losing his memory!) his personality is usually so far off from the character I like that I struggle to get invested.
Because the thing is, Dick's leadership instincts aren't incidental to what I like about him. They're all wrapped up in his outsized sense of personal responsibility and instinctive belief that if anything is going wrong anywhere near him then it is his obligation to handle it and if anything goes wrong then it's his fault if he was involved and also his fault if he wasn't involved and actually if you have ever gotten within five feet of him and unrelatedly something bad happened to you then it's probably his fault and he FAILED. This belief gives Dick a lot of control issues and makes him bitchy sometimes and is not great for his mental health, but it's also very endearing and an outgrowth of how much Dick cares!
Anyway, re:bitchiness, I have similar feelings about various choices in Batgirls and in Tim Drake: Robin and in current Nightwing; like, I don't think any of these stories are bad ipso facto, I don't begrudge anyone who likes them, and I certainly enjoy fluffy fanfic sometimes - I don't always want the same things in transformative fandom that I want in canon.
But in comics, I often want the characters to have a bit of edge, to be cranky and difficult and just... y'know, clearly the kind of people who would choose to be vigilantes. I want them to care enough to be bitchy about it. And I often feel like I'm missing that, post-2011.

It’s Thanksgiving! So in the spirit of American thanksgiving, I would like to thank @arkhammaid for being such an awesome friend and mutual and give another plotbunny to you:
Batman gets thrown into another dimension...
And in this dimension, all his children were adopted by another rich black hair man who saves the world on a weekly basis. What's even stranger is that this billionaire is not someone he's familiar with at all.
He doesn't know how to feel about this. Why isn't this world's version of Bruce Wayne aka Batman their father? What happened? But that's not so important questions to ask. What is more important is making sure that this unknown male is treating this dimension's version of his kids well.
And thus begins Batman's (futile) attempts to stalk one Sung Jinwoo while he waits for JLA to find him and beam him back to his home dimension.
[More in #where in Batman stumbles upon a universe where Sung Jinwoo adopted his kids AU]

I keep thinking about writing a fic that diverges from the point in Joker’s Last Laugh where Nightwing kills the Joker.
Instead of resuscitating the Joker (really, Bruce? really??), Bruce lets him die.
As everyone recovers from the whole situation, Bruce is a mess. At first he — and all the other bats — assume that it’s from the guilt of sort-of breaking his no-kill rule. It seems much the same as the way Dick couldn’t forgive himself for allowing Blockbuster’s death (to say nothing of the guilt now eating Dick alive for, you know, actually killing someone).
But as Bruce continues on from reacting and into processing, it becomes apparent that he- Well, he’s grieving the Joker.
It… makes a certain amount of sense. He has known — for lack of a better term — the Joker as long as he’s known his eldest son. He’s been a fixture in Bruce’s life. A reliable presence even, inasmuch as an erratic, violent nemesis can be called reliable. The Joker has taken so, so much from the world — from Bruce in particular — but he has also given Bruce some pivotal part of his purpose. The Joker held a level of importance to Batman’s work that few other enemies could ever achieve. He’s a pillar of the role Bruce built Batman to fulfill. Is Batman even properly Batman without the Joker?
So this is Bruce’s grief. Once he identifies it, he’s horrified by how clear it is. The way he’s gone over and over the autopsy report, every angle of cctv, combed every haunt and shaken down every goon just because he doesn’t trust the Joker, doesn’t trust death. (He’s been in the cape too long.) Hours spent at the punching bag, trying desperately to funnel the violence out of his body and into a safe target. Nights spent watching the self-recriminating what-ifs play out on his shadowed bedroom ceiling. What if he’d tried chest compressions? Called EMS before his arrival? What if he’d reached Nightwing sooner? Investigated Tim’s “death” more thoroughly? He is staggered by many ways could he have prevented this death. He should have. He would have. If it wasn’t for how he just… didn’t.
And — so much more incriminating than the denial, the anger, the goddamn bargaining — he’s… sad. There’s an emptiness that stalks his days, a void he can’t help but watch while he patrols. It’s hard to put on his easygoing press smile and to straighten his shoulders against the fundamentally shifted weight of the world. He wakes up exhausted and falls into bed already dreading the morning. He does his work and watches over his family and his city, but all the while he’s looking through a layer of gauze.
He’s also relieved. Of course he’s relieved. There isn’t a single person in the greater Gotham area who doesn’t feel the tsunami of relief once the Joker’s death is publicized. His city is safer, for all that the rest of the rogues gallery still breathe. His people are safer. His kids are safer.
It’s almost as hard for Bruce to admit that he’s grateful the Joker is dead. It feels wrong to rejoice in a death, how ever silently, however well-deserved. But it doesn’t feel any better to notice that clinging, unwelcome sorrow.
The reason I’ll probably never make this into a real fic is that I’m terrible at the comfort part of h/c. I write myself into a corner and then look at where I am and,,
How can Bruce recover from this? How does he lay this internal conflict to rest alongside his most longstanding foe? He’s grieving a violent, unpredictable, horrifyingly creative mass murderer! Someone who has committed countless unspeakable atrocities, who had no single iota of regard for any life beyond his own. Someone whose very existence was intrinsically linked to Bruce’s own…
He can’t seek solace in his family. The Joker has harmed every single one of them in one way or another. Dick needs his strength and Jason would never, ever, forgive him. He can’t talk to his colleagues in the JLA. They’re committed to the greater good in the way Bruce had always believed himself to be. There is no one to absolve him. Bruce doesn’t deserve- Can’t deserve absolution. This grief betrays every principle he’s beaten into his mind and body. It’s the most shameful act he could ever commit.
So Bruce would stew in his guilt upon guilt upon guilt. He would pick at the scabs of the hard-earned mourning, unable and unwilling to accept that the loss of someone important is still a loss, even if that importance comes from a driving need to stop them at (almost) any cost.

Some random JSA and fam -centric ideas and Headcanons
Almost the entire surviving OG JSA gave Green Arrow some version of the shovel talk after he and Black Canary became an item
In many modern versions “surviving OG JSA” still includes WonderWoman, in which case she put the fear of god into him after they announced their engagement
“Noted conservative” Hawkman and “proud Communist” Oliver Queen in the same room together? Let’s just say Dinah is very careful which family events she brings Ollie to without both promising to not even look at each other
(This rarely avoids arguments, and never avoids both of them spouting off deeply distracting thoughts about eachother for poor Brainwave Jr to overhear)
In versions where Alan Scott’s base of operations is still Gotham (and the JSA and JLA share an earth), I’d like to see one of a few things:
Gotham being incredibly cursed and the eldritch magic of the Starheart being related
Him coming back after a time-skip and being horrified of what his city has become
Gotham having Always Been This Way, and that not only being the reason why he’s so dramatic and occasionally unhinged, but also has a weird assortment of survival skills for a previously pampered rich boy
I also think it would be very funny if Alan before coming out just either didn’t realize that Diana is bi and possibly trans, Dinah is trans, Jay is bi etc.
Either that or internalized homophobia so strong he just didn’t acknowledge it :(
Remember when Alan casually revealed he stalks his kids’ social medias? Yeah. I think sometimes he flies over and checks on them without their knowledge too.
The biggest reason why Jade remains a low- level actress is because her pride has her refusing roles where her powers would be centric as-well as her father’s numerous offers to buy her a tv show outright
Whether it’s the Scott fam or the whole JSA, it’s 50/50 if Harlequin Jr. shows up. He can never resist ending the night with at-least one prank, which can be difficult with this many heroes
On a related note, his mother is the only person who he’s never been able to outprank
Wildcat is “Uncle Ted”. Married into this messy family? Uncle Ted. Dinah’s step kids? Jay’s “grandkids” via the younger Flashes? Uncle Ted.
Jakeem Thunder after being invited to a reunion: hey why is the embodiment of God’s wrath and an embodiment of order here? And some of your rogues?
Rick Tyler arm wrestling Solomon Grundy: don’t worry about it

end of the year book asks
How many books did you read this year? - I think about 25-30 (which is the least amount I've ever read omg)
Did you reread anything? What? - Almost all the books I read last year lmao. The ones I re-read the most was The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garner (including Once Upon a Brokenheart, which was the first book in that trilogy), The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon (because it's my favourite), The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen, and The Winners Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski. I haven't seemed to find any books that are quite as good as those ones so I was just reading the same content over and over lol.
What were your top five books of the year? - The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber, Fable by Adrienne Young, The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton, The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen, and Cursed by Marissa Meyer
Did you discover any new authors that you love this year? - India Holton and Deanna Raybourn. I think they're smaller authors, but their books are really good, really entertaining and honestly relaxing.
What genre did you read the most of? - YA Fantasy-Romance. This genre takes a hit a lot but when you find really good books in this category, they're so good.
Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to? - Too many. I meant to read Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalo and People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry but didn't get around to it.
What was your average Goodreads rating? Does it seem accurate? - I don't really use Goodreads
Did you meet any of your reading goals? Which ones? - Not really :( I was supposed to read 65 books this year lol. I upped it because I usually end up around there at the end of the year, but this year just felt like reading content really lacked. However, I did still meet my goals of reading an hour every day.
Did you get into any new genres? - Not really. I seem to stay romance-adjacent with my reads.
What was your favorite new release of the year? - The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber
What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read? - I think Fable by Adrienne Young. I don't think it's been out for "a while" but it wasn't a new release.
Any books that disappointed you? - The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L. Armentrout, I read a book by Emily McIntire called Hooked that had a really good synopsis but it was the worst book I have ever read in my entire life. It was so bad that I will always remember how bad it was. Awful. Terrible. (Note: I didn't know who this author was and it wasn't a book I was anticipating, but the summary sounded enticing and then I started reading and it was an awful experience). I also didn't really care for The Inadequate Heir by Danielle. L Jensen which sucks because I was looking forward to it, but it wasn't horrible - just not quite what I was expecting.
What were your least favorite books of the year? - I'll give those medals to The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L. Armentrout and Hooked by Emily McIntire
What books do you want to finish before the year is over? - I'm not really reading anything right now tbh.
Did you read any books that were nominated for or won awards this year (Booker, Women’s Prize, National Book Award, Pulitzer, Hugo, etc.)? What did you think of them? - Tbh I don't really pay attention to what books won what so I'm not sure! I usually read just whatever looks good to me.
What is the most over-hyped book you read this year? - I don't know if I read an "overhyped" book this year. I guess A Light In The Flame by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but that wasn't really hyped online, it was more so that I thought it was gonna be good and then it wasn't lol. Actually 2022 was the year I realized I don't like JLA novels at all.
Did any books surprise you with how good they were? - Deanna Raybourn books!!! I'm in love with Stoker and Veronica and honestly, the fact they're not talked about more is upsetting because those books are actually really good. They're cute, funny, entertaining.
How many books did you buy? - I don't remember lol. Probably just shy of what I read (I'll say 20-25 of them I bought)
Did you use your library? - No, I never use the library :( I either bought books at Indigo or through Apple Books and Amazon Kindle app.
What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations? - I think the book I was most excited for was Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber, and it exceeded my expectations. I loved every second of that book.
Did you participate in or watch any booklr, booktube, or book twitter drama? - No, but I did watch some book tube reviews for fun.
What’s the longest book you read? - I have no clue omg. The only one that I think was the longest that I can recall was probably A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas (which I read in 2021), but I'm not sure
What’s the fastest time it took you to read a book? - I think over night. I can't remember what book but I remember starting it at like 9 or 10 pm and finishing at like 4:30 am lol
Did you DNF anything? Why? - The only one I really remember not finishing is Hooked by Emily McIntire because it's the worst book ever
What reading goals do you have for next year? - I kind of want to get back to where I was by reading roughly 65 books by the end of the year. This year just felt like there were no books that really captured my attention so when I felt like reading I'd just go back and find a book I remembered enjoying and reading that instead of anything new.

TCOGB thoughts
These are all unfiltered brain dump thoughts after spending some time processing what I read
I was terrified the next three books were going to heartmate trials and I am so glad that that isn't the case
Usually, I get bored with established couples after the first few scenes by I absolutely adore PoppyCas, their dynamic evolves a lot and doesn't feel tiresome (like Feysand in ACOFAS)
Smut was smutty but it was meaningful and advanced the plot so I am happy
the smell of Lilacs means more than just the blood memories and I need to know why JLA chose Lilacs for PoppyCas and also for the weird faceless creatures
MISS WILLA wow I want more of her in every book always
also JLA is sneaky with her teasers! changing things up and moving around names!
Kieran is just part of the PoppyCas relationship and I’m okay with that - joining or no joining, he LOVES them both, them all cleaning up after the attack, the HUG, it was all lovely
Kieran touching Poppy’s cheek and hair just ended me, like it was so casual and so caring and a huge difference from "I don't think you would consider us friends" in AKOFAF (may write a Poppy Kieran post)
Also Kieran being like "fuck okay let's ascend her" like DUDE that is bro energy
Also all of the wolven and Poppy with their little brain conversations - that will come in handy!
Poppy telling their crew to call her Poppy but calling her mother in law to call her Penellaphe was savage
Delano and Perry FOREVER (seriously we had less than 5 lines of this ship but I ship it )
am I shipping Netta and Emil based off of like two lines? HELL YEAH
I kinda love Valyn even though he’s a little extreme at times, just being like "you're family" "we're lucky to have you" really got to me
Honestly would do anything for any of the 5 Contou family members, Kihra, Zaddy Jasper, Netta, Kieran, the new baby
Actually on second thought, can Jasper and Kihra just adopt me?
I'm glad Tawny is alive but I don't want a Kieran Tawny Ship,
Also RIP Ian you tried to flirt with Netta and provided a vague hint that's the only reason I liked you
Also RIP Lyra we stan you and your sex positive attitude and you did not deserve to die
Casteel being surprised when poppy said ily killed me and Kieran being surprised when they made him advisor also killed me
Casteel just stole my fucking heart time and time again between his love confession, getting poppy to come back to herself, supporting her every which way, literally threatening his father, like ily king (also considering a longer post about this)
I KNEW the cave cat was important and I need to know more, like what color are his EYE? (update, they are "vibrant green eyes. Intelligent eyes. Knowing ones." thank you @moonlitdreamer for that! )
I also knew Casteel was going to get captured again but I did not expect Malik to be involved dear gods I am upset
I was expecting the devastation of Malik being found and not knowing them, but this was next level - he was fully lucid
I really started to like Eloana but she fucked up big time and I hope she realizes that and she atones
Poppy is still upset about not being a changeling but if her dad can shape shift maybe she can too?
Is Isbeth really Poppy's mom? I'm not 1000% on this but am stalking the facebook group to see if JLA confirms (update: JLA confirmed)
I am Ready for Nyktos and Nektas and Sera and Jadis in ASITE

Lele, you’re probably following all the caos around the fbaa fandom and the total caos in goodreads and it got me worried for sjm… we knew the fandom is really divided right now with the ship war (I think it’s a 50/50? I don’t really know bc I don’t follow it) but wherever sim decides to go in acotar 5 I’m afraid this will happen to… the ship “not chosen” putting the book in the hate train
I have been following the fbaa thing, and it's really interesting to me because it feels like a process that the sjm fandom went through ages ago, but on speed 😂
This got longer than maybe you'd expect because I have a lot of thoughts about anti fandoms hehe
I'm not worried about the acotar fandom when gwynriel happens because:
1) sjm has blown ships up in the past and people either moved along with the changes, or they left the fandom, or they shrugged and said "I still ship the thing I like and canon is just a mere suggestion". See: chaolaena, doraelin, malide, moriel, and... that's all that come to mind atm.
2) When acowar came out, a ton of people left the fandom because they hated how it was written, the ships, Mor's coming out. We've been through this before. Besides acosf, acowar is the biggest shift I've seen in the fandom since I started stalking just before EoS came out in 2016.
3) Even if there weren't a "reason" for people to leave, the fandom naturally ebbs and flows.
4) SJM already has a healthy anti community. I've said this a few times but I really, really don't think that people who are new to this fandom or new to fandom in general ("new" being since acosf released) truly understand what the anti sjm community is. This whole tagging posts with "anti character" is SUPER WEIRD TO ME because hi, we can talk about things we don't like without tipping into the realm of being an actual anti, ffs. That's not the point of anti tags, or at least it hasn't been. You'll never catch me tagging a post "anti character" or even "pro character" 😂 To me, if I'm in the fandom it's implied that generally, I like the thing. If I'm in the anti fandom, then it's implied that I don't.
Being an anti is not "I hate this thing and here is why" and then moving on with one's life. It's creating an entire blog whose sole purpose is to tear down a creator. It's spending months, and years of one's life talking about what a shitty, problematic writer X person is and why everything they create is horrible and convincing other people of all the reasons why this entire creation, or every single creation, by this one person, is The Actual Worst.
The irony is that many antis start off as stans. I mentioned malide, right? A ton of antis still ship malide and/or stan Manon. I can see e*riel being the malide of acotar. People insisting that it was the plan all along and refusing to go with the flow, and then dedicating their entire blogs to how it should have been, and then deciding that actually, sjm is the worst writer in history because they read things one way and she intended them another way. Cue the misuse of "death of the author".
She's been clear as hell about what's happening, but they are trying their damndest to not see it. So yeah, they'll be antis, the ones who stick around. But that won't really change much because sjm already has a big anti community, like I said!
I actually asked some friends if JLA has an anti community already because what happened last week had all the classic markers of what happened with sjm during acowar. There was a ton of criticism, it was a shitshow for a while, but it calmed down eventually. It will be the same thing here!

And one more bit from the “Kings of the Sky” AU albeit several installments in, because I just......don’t know when or why I stumbled into an obsession with the dynamics between Dick and Jason and Cass as the eldest three Wayne siblings, but its there, its real, and its happening. I’ve stopped fighting it. I just....enjoy writing those three being dumb siblings who are dumb like so, so much.
Anyway, in this AU series, Jason doesn’t go to Ethiopia and die, but rather eventually joins Dick at Titans Tower more regularly and is Flamebird. Both are closer with Bruce here than in canon because Dick helped Bruce and Jason get through the Garzonas stuff and Jason helped kick Bruce in the direction of Dick and adoption papers right after the Brother Blood storyline. Then Cass is actually the third to join the family, by way of Babs, and she’s Batgirl and then Black Bat, but there’s a period of time when its just Dick, Jason and Cass as the Wayne kids.
(PS - this is the same series as where Jason ends up with his own age group of Titans, and accidentally falls into a love quadrangle of doom that is absolutely NOT a polycule dammit, with Tom Bronson (Tomcat), Ray Terrill (The Ray) and Todd Rice (Obsidian). Which amuses his brother and sister to no end).
Tim and Duke are both next, but sorta at the same time? Like Tim’s story takes a sharp turn when Robin II never dies and obviously is Flamebird now like Robin I is Nightwing, and Tim winds up in foster care after his parents die differently than in canon. Duke is also in foster care at this time, though a different placement, and while no Robin has died here, its been awhile since there’s been one in Gotham, and to kids who grew up with the idea of there always being a Robin, that feels weird and wrong ultimately.
So Tim and Duke both hit on the idea of being Robin like, at around the same time and totally disconnected from one another, and that leads to them both joining the Batfam around the same time, and co-sharing Robin until Damian arrives much later and they both move on to new identities. But there’s no real confusion between Robins because Duke is the daytime Robin with more yellow coloring in his costume and Tim is the nighttime Robin with more red, and people say Red or Yellow if they ever need to differentiate which Robin they’re talking about. Anyway.
************
So [Tim and Duke] run into trouble eventually and then when running from trouble they run into each other and they’re like….huh. Awkward. And then they decide well, might as well both run from trouble in the same direction, I guess. So they do.
“Did you have a plan for dealing with these guys?” Tim yelled at Duke. The other boy looked back over his shoulder briefly and gave what would probably have been a half-shrug if he didn’t awkwardly try to barrel-roll over a car two seconds later.
“Umm, sorta?”
“How sorta are we talking about? Maybe the two of us together could fill in the gaps in the plan and come up with one full plan?”
“Uh yeah, no, its not that kinda sorta. I meant sorta in the sense that I thought I had a plan but it didn’t work and that’s why these guys are after me. Sooooo…”
“Not helpful, basically.”
“Yeah. Pretty much. And hey, I don’t hear you offering up a plan! Did you even have one at all?”
“Uh….I mean I kinda didn’t think I was going to need one because I figured some kid running around in a mask making a nuisance of himself was the sorta thing that was bound to attract Batman. And so I was just pretty much running around until that happened, and then I’d make a case for how I obviously need training and Gotham needs Robin and if its not me its likely to be someone else trying eventually anyway so why not be me?”
Duke paused just long enough to squint at him. “That’s a terrible plan.”
Tim rolled his eyes. The effort didn’t pair well with his huffing and over-all exertions from running for his life and all that, but necessity demanded. “Yeah I know, that’s why I never said it was a plan! It was mostly….more…idea-ish.”
“I’m just saying, I thought I was doing this wrong, but at least I had a plan! I mean yeah, it might have ended up with me accidentally busting in on what I thought was a bunch of Riddler’s henchmen setting up some kind of clue thing, only it was actually a bunch of Intergang type guys with alien space guns or some shit all dressed up as Riddler henchmen for some reason? I dunno what they were trying to do honestly, but so yeah I might have ended up running away on foot from like twenty of them and some kind of hovercycle -”
“I’m going to cut you off there and say wherever this is going its probably not the superior vantage point I think you think you have.”
Meanwhile, Batman was not going to be coming because he’s off on a JLA mission. However, in his absence Dick and Jason are in town filling in, and they finished taking out the bad guys several blocks back and caught up to whomever was running from them, figured out the situation and are currently sitting on the edge of a rooftop watching them realize they’re totally lost and trying to figure out where to go from here. Mostly because Dick and Jason are incredibly amused listening to their back and forth and also just…this whole situation.
Dick justifies not piping up to let them know they’re safe now by saying this is good intel gathering so we can offer Bruce our assessment as to whether they’re gonna try and keep doing this whether we train them or not, and also how they handle this whole being lost situation. Not knowing they don’t have to run anymore isn’t going to hurt them and really, this is a good field exercise almost.
Jason justifies not piping up by saying this is fucking hilarious and I will hurt you if you end this any sooner than we have to, I deserve this, I had a rough week.
Which is right around the time that Cass pipes up from where she’s been lurking unnoticed behind them this whole time: “Oh no. Was it Tom? Or Ray? Or was it Todd?”
And she does it right in Jason’s ear so he kinda aborted-shrieks and almost falls off the roof except Cass is ready for that and grabs his arm to steady him.
“I hate when you do that!” Jason growls in an attempt to cover up how badly she got him and also because he hates when she does it which is why she does it a lot. Again, they don’t hate each other at all, but they do seem to act like it a lot, and neither of them is entirely sure why. They kinda just started doing it and have each been trying to get the other back ever since and ended up locked in an unending spiral of gotcha-gotchaback, except, y’know, Batfam style.
Dick occasionally picks sides just to muddy the waters. And then he randomly switches sides without warning, so neither of them ever wants to risk getting too peeved at him even when he’s helping the other, because that might push him fully over to the other side and leave them permanently outnumbered, so they’re kinda stuck, which is exactly as he likes it, lol.
“Why are you Satan,” Jason hisses dramatically as he gets up and stomps over to the other side of the roof to sulk, lest she almost knock him off again. Its not the almost falling part that bothers him, its that she’s the one that snatches him to safety each time. She’s like a freaking cat toying with a - yeah not going there, just blaming Selina. Knew them hanging out was going to be bad news for me somehow, he gripes.
Cass just shrugs and smoothly sits down cross-legged right where she is, grinning Cheshire-cat style at him from there. “Childhood trauma,” is her answer.
“Great, and now you’re stealing my comeback on top of it?! Is nothing sacred to you?”
She offers another shrug. He would like to return those for store credit please. Maybe get something useful instead. “Haven’t decided yet. Babs is still helping me explore my options. We’re going alphabetically and we’re only on  the E-religions.”
“God, you’re the worst. I can’t believe you ruined sisters for me.”
“You already used that same line last week when you came out of your room still half-asleep and she was just sitting directly across from your door waiting and staring unblinking and you yelped and dropped your laptop on your toe, and then cursed so loud that B came running around the hall thinking we were being invaded,” Dick reported idly, still perched in the same position he’d been in all along and watching the boys below them. “Just in case you thought no one noticed when you recycle.”
“I noticed too,” Cass added solemnly.
“I have no siblings,” Jason intoned. He threw up his hands dramatically and then loudly jumped down to the street below with a little help from the fire escape. It drew both Duke and Tim’s attention and they startled before realizing it was Flamebird. And that he’d landed on the street and was stalking past them while barely acknowledging them. And that that was Nightwing standing on the roof now with his hands on his hips yelling after him.
“Oh, reeeeeeal subtle. You’re not having fun anymore so you gotta make sure nobody else does either. Wow, the Brat-like behavior, just jumped out of the shadows with that one!”
And that was Flamebird not even turning around and just yelling back. “I HAVE NO SIBLINGS!”
And also they were both pretty sure that was Batgirl crouched on the roof next to Nightwing now, and she was…..sticking her tongue out at Flamebird’s back? No, Batgirl very much definitely was sticking out her tongue, that wasn’t in doubt, it was more just….very unexpected to see.
What was happening right now?
********
Eventually Tim and Duke have inevitably worn down [Bruce’s] resistance to training them by insisting they’re gonna keep doing this and if its not them its gonna be someone sooner or later anyway. Because, as they put it, you guys may not know this but Gotham’s gotten used to Robins by now and it freaks people out not to see one and Robin’s as important as Batman really and there needs to be a Robin and its not just us that will think that, like look at the fact that already two of us had the exact same idea, huh? And also, we’re gonna keep doing it anyway, sooooo….there’s that.
And then Cass vouches that they’re both 100% serious about that.
And then Dick vouches that as a former determined daredevil kid that was absolutely going to keep doing the same thing no matter whether you’d helped me or not, B, I also am of the assessment that these two mean it all the way.
And not to be left out and just to have something to contribute but also grumpy because his brother and sister are picking on him and he’s eighteen going on ten, Jason throws in: “And my assessment is that they both definitely seem dumb enough to keep doing this without help anyway and they definitely need help or they definitely will die, I’d give it a month, month and a half tops.”
And then Bruce dryly thanks his children for their contributions, their keen insights in this matter have been absolutely invaluable, he has no idea how he would make a decision here without it.
“Oooh, a rare sighting of Bat-snark in the wild. Someone call Nat-Geo quick, maybe he’ll do it again,” Dick says.
Bruce sighs. Duke and Tim look like they’re trying to decide if they’re allowed to be amused or if that’s also part of some weird Bat-test that they’re probably taking without even knowing it.
So Tim and Duke move in, start training together, and then also get sent to school together and it takes a month or so of settling in before they decide whether or not they actually are happy about this. There’s a period of deciding they’re supposed to be bitter rivals who snipe at each other back and forth across the dining table at every available opportunity, but that changes the first night Dick and Jason come back from the Tower since Tim and Duke have moved in and where Cass is also home instead of at the Clocktower with Babs.
Since all three of the older Batkids, upon seeing Tim and Duke squabble at dinner, decide to obnoxiously coo about how adorable it is watching the kids play. Which pretty instantly cements Duke and Tim as realizing their best chance of surviving the sudden acquisition of three older superhero ninja foster siblings who all can be as obnoxious as they are dangerous but also as much as they are - Duke and Tim are convinced - all quite insane.
A belief further cemented the next morning, with all three of them having spent the night at the Manor as well. Treating Duke and Tim to their first Saturday morning episode of the Cass and Jason show.
In this episode, Jason emerged from his bedroom in his pajamas still but warily peeking his head out first to look both ways down the hall before deciding it was clear…..and then makes it just almost to the end of the hallway leading to the stairs, when Cass drops down from where she’d been waiting perched above the other side of the door, in such a way as to suddenly fill the doorway just in front of him, hanging upside down suspending herself just with her feet wedged above the doorway, all while keeping her hands crossed her chest, a dead-eyed expression on her face, and with her tongue hanging out like she’s some kind of vampire hanging upside down in mid-slumber.
Jason shrieked and stumbled back a foot before catching himself and shoving two fingers in a cross shape in her direction.
“Demon! DEMON! Goddammit, I abjure thee, that’s supposed to fucking do something about having a demon sister, now what the fuck does it take to banish you!?”
“Can’t be banished,” Cass informed him, still upside down. “Can be bought though.”
Jason halted. “What?”
“I’m really surprised you never figured it out,” Dick said from his room further down the hallway. He was leaning against the doorjamb, arms casually crossed.
“Why did you think she never goes after me?”
Jason swiveled back and forth between his siblings suspiciously, trying to scry both their inscrutable (and in Cass’ case, still upside down) faces for signs they were telling the truth. “You’re telling me that Little Miss Monstrous has been a pain in my ass from day one and the reason she’s never so much as eked a single boo in your direction is you’ve been bribing her all this time?”
Dick shrugged. “Its all about getting in on the ground floor.”
Jason squinted, still unconvinced. “Nuh-uh. No way. You’re just fucking with me. Like if this is for real, what have you been buying her off with?”
Dick smiled beatifically. “Cuddles and hugs.”
“NO! NO! Bullshit! I am NOT falling for this crap again, you are not gonna get me this way this time. I call BS, fuck you, nuh uh, you’re lying out your ass and your ass-face both.”
“Wait, what is this ‘this’ that I did before? What ever are you talking about?”
“You know damn well what I’m talking about.”
“Is this about the Care Bear you had when you were fifteen?”
“Shut upppppppppppppppp, I didn’t have a Care Bear then, you’re such a - “
“Oh, I dunno, I’m preeeeetty sure there’s some holiday photos from that year that would say otherwise, pretty definitively in the form of you and your Care Bear….”
“That I only had because you literally just gave it to me as a present solely so that you could claim that I had a Care Bear when I was fifteen, you douchebag!”
“Just because I gave you the Care Bear didn’t mean you had to keep the Care Bear and hold the Care Bear and love the Care Bear, Jay. You chose to do all that.”
“I only kept the damn thing because you’re an asshole who lied about it being a family heirloom so I felt like I had to or I’d be a total jerk. Is nothing sacred to you?”
“I didn’t lie! It is a treasured family heirloom! Its the first Care Bear I gave to my little brother to teach him the important and valuable lesson that Care Bears - say it with me now - “
“Finish that sentence and they will never find your body.”
“CARE!” Cass shrieked from behind him before jumping on Jason’s back and bearing him down to the floor in an undignified tangle as she splayed atop him like a starfish and he stared up at the ceiling in a kind of strangled frozen fury, like there was so much emotion he wanted to process he’d overheated and now was stuck like that until he cooled down.
That was when Dick leaned over him and solemnly added one final thought, as though it was a crucial addition of the gravest importance:: “A lot.”
Jason’s eye twitched.
Dick’s eyes went wide in response. “Uh oh. He went to the Danger Zone. Run Cass. We’ve unleashed the dogs of war!”
Cass was off and on her feet in a second, taking off down the hall like a rocket. “Not the dogs of war!” She yelled.
Dick was only seconds behind her when behind him, Jason rose like an eruption, growling wordlessly and sparks practically flashing from his suddenly flinty eyes. He charged after them like an enraged bull.
“Kenny Loggins wouldn’t want this!” Dick yelled over his shoulder as he rounded the doorway and vanished. Jason rounded it in hot pursuit.
“Poison Ivy won’t even be able to make compost from what’s left of you when I’m through!”
The yelling and running vanished into the distance. Duke and Tim finally looked at each other blankly.
“What?” Tim asked. Duke shrugged helplessly.
A door opened at the end of the hallway. Bruce stuck his head out. “Is it safe?”
Tim just stared at him.
“What?” Duke asked.
**************
LOL mostly I just want to get to the tail end of the series, when Dick and Jason go undercover as supervillains in the Society of well, Supervillains....Dick as War Shrike and Jason as Gray Jay. (A kind of bird usually known for or referenced as being thieving and unpredictable and unexpectedly dangerous despite its size. Jason never went into the Lazarus Pit here and so isn’t as huge as he is in canon, he’s on the smaller side due to his early life’s malnutrition. Living with Bruce helped him catch up enough that he’s not TINY tiny, but he’s still smaller enough that this particular mantle fits him a little better than it would his massive canon depiction).
Cass also partakes in the undercover storyline, just showing up uninvited in a persona she’s crafted for the mission and calls Black Swan. And War Shrike and Gray Jay are both so startled and obviously a little freaked by her unexpected arrival, that combined with her being ticked at her brothers for leaving her behind, RUDE, and them sufficiently cowed and guilted by her wrath, that it all adds up to the other villains as being clear evidence that she is the boss and they are her advance minions.
Which mollifies and satisfies Cass immensely, and leaves Jason grumpy that their mission was hijacked and also his sister is The Worst, and leaves Dick temporarily disgruntled because This Whole Thing Was His Idea DAMMIT but then five seconds later finding it hilarious because Dick is a chaos connoisseur and he has an appreciation for whimsy and the unexpected.
“I can’t believe you not only gate-crashed our extremely sensitive and delicate undercover operation, but you completely hijacked it as well! This is so typical,” Jason grouched.
Cass simply swept ahead of him and strode down the hallway with lethal grace. “Silence minion.”
Jason spluttered behind her and she grinned to herself. He really made it too easy sometimes.

The League of Assions and The order of the guardions. The order master fu was a part of have always been allys. Daimon learns that lady bug and chat noir are active and thanks to a member of the Jla Paris calls for help have been wrote off as a prank. He goes sees how Chat is not doing his job and basical takes over. Marinette whom it the garudion now. Ask whom he is after he turns up as the new chat. He tells her the greeting league and order members use.
There was a hidden alliance unlocked only to those who deserve it. Damian had little knowledge until his mother pulled him away from a stray mission that his father sent him on and told him everything about. The Order of Guardians for the Miraculous, the miraculous themselves and how powerful they are. He never once thought a second of that was until a lazy Saturday night.
That night, Damian decided to hack the Justice League system and after coming across the trash file bin he finds footage of Paris dating back to three years ago. The recent video broadcasted only a few months ago had a very distraught and tired Ladybug staring at the camera. He watches every video that was ever sent to them and with each second a growing sense of anger rose within him.
By blood he is supposed to help the Guardians in their time of needs just like they do with the League of Assassins. Years of being pushed off as a prank, Damian knew what he had to do. Hacking into the Justice League of Europe he finds little to investigate, so he ends up searching for it online. Two vastly different websites regarding the Paris issue comes onto his monitor One website—the LadyBlog—was nothing but downgraded tabloid that would make Lois Lane, now Kent, gag and gouge her eyes out. The other site—Miraculous Out—was an informational site with Ladybug producing it along with news reporters by the names of Aurore Beaureal and Mireille Caquet. Together they appear in a professional setting reporting on the latest akuma attacks and give Ladybug the option to relay coping techniques every week and information regarding the aftermath of the akumatized victim.
It took every bone in his body to not just zeta tube to Paris right then and there. He must be smart, diligent. He doesn’t even know who the current Guardian is. It’s not like he could call upon the League and get (the right word is force) them to give him information regarding the current situation of the Order of the Guardians.
That sort of willpower only lasted a week. After being brushed off by the League members that remain after the majority, his father included left on a mission out in space. He snuck past Nightwing, his apparent guardian, and zeta tubed to the closest place to Paris.
It takes him a day to locate the current holders of the ladybug and black cat miraculous. That was mainly due to an akuma attack in the progress that night.
Chat Noir was practically no help. The hero wasn’t listening to any of the demands (the better choice of word is strategies) Ladybug was telling him. He could see the stress in her through her body language. A facepalm, constant use of a scowl. Her eyes darting around for a perfect moment. It’s all the reason why she hadn’t used her lucky charm yet.
Foolishly, Chat Noir called out his Cataclysm prematurely and it wasn’t Ladybug’s screaming at the hero to not do that, that gave it away. No, it was that with him analyzing the situation Cataclysm was not needed for what Ladybug was setting up. The akuma victim wasn’t near the proximately that the attack would even help.
Seeing the useless black cat holder looking unsettling unhappy. Ladybug now breathing deeply turns her attention back to reworking her plan as the person that was supposed to be her partner, her equal, runoff into the distant. Ladybug calls out to him, but even she knew better than anything.
Damian takes off towards the running, failure of a hero. He waits, lingering in the shadows. Each blast from afar, he knows that he needs to hurry. He no doubly trusted her abilities to handle the situation but for how long was the question that rang through his head.
Got him.
Damian quickly takes down the useless hero. It’s not like him to put up a fight as the hero was mumbling to himself at how she should trust him more, that they are meant to be together.
The kwami of destruction showed himself to the Gotham vigilante after Damian reassured him with the password that the League and the Guardians came up with to ensure they were the real deal. Reluctantly, the kwami gives Damian permission to be his wielder allowing Damian to take the ring off the unconscious former hero.
The kwami tells him how to activate the miraculous, but we will need to speak to the guardian after this whole ordeal to determine his fate after this. “Plagg, claws out!”
Ladybug was used to fighting alone, but that didn’t mean she liked it. Her plans go down the drains the moment Chat decides to act out during each of their attacks. She also hates knowing that he is Adrien Agreste, a person she once thought of so highly to the point when her civilian self wanted to start a family with him. After becoming the guardian, she only then started to see how selfish he is and clinging to others. Perhaps it was his lack of knowledge of the real world, but even a baby understands the meaning of no and yet he acts like one.
This akuma wants vengeance against those who wrong her. A beauty contest went wrong and she swears that the winner only won because she slept with the judge the night before. Not that Ladybug needed to know that.
She already figured out the akumatized item, it was her pageant satchel.
“Need a hand.” Ladybug turns around to see a person wearing a cat-eared hooded black cap. She swears that the person reminds her of Batman with a mixture of Nightwing.
“I don’t have time for this.” Ladybug sighs before stalking up to the newly defined holder of the cat miraculous. “Her akuamatized item is in the satchel care to lend a hand.”
The newly acquired black cat nods allowing Ladybug to proceed in giving him her plans for ending the akuma. She couldn’t get a good look at him until he launches himself into the air and sees the black tight bodysuit with red and green accents outlining his suit. His use of combat boots and handle the black cat’s miraculous choice of weapon with ease. If someone were to ask her if she felt jealous of his determination, outfit, and skills, she would have denied it to her very core.
They bodies moved in sync, always knowing what the person was going to do before needing to communicate vocally. It was this time of teamwork she needs right now.
“Bye, bye little butterfly.” She says as the purified akuma flies off into the distance. Throwing up her lucky charm item, a fishing rod, into the air everything returns to normal. She turns to the new black cat and asks him his business for taking the miraculous and being in Paris.
Damian asks for an audience with the current guardian. Ladybug places her hand on her hips and tells him that she’s the current guardian. Within a second of that information escaping her lips, he tells her the sacred password. Ladybug’s stance becomes at ease and she motions for him to follow her.
“You have some nerve taking a hero’s miraculous without my knowledge.” Ladybug sits across from him as Plagg hovers over her shoulder snacking on a slice of cube cheese.
“I’m in an alliance with the Justice League and only recently found out about the lack of attention Paris is receiving,” He tells her honesty. “As a member of the League of Assassins, it is my duty to aid you in your time of need.”
Ladybug sighs and leans back into her seat, “The help was nice. If you want, I can allow you to use the black cat miraculous until the Hawkmoth situation is dealt with, or you can return to the Justice League and help from afar?”
It was a great deal. He gets to be on his own seeing as he’s closed to becoming eighteen and gets to be away from his family’s prying eyes.
“I would like that.” He answers her after a moment of silence. “It would do my honor a great justice helping out an alliance that my grandfather swears by.”
“You seem like the type of person that would avoid anything, and all things League related.”
“And seem like the type of person to avoid things Order related.”
Ladybug and Damian shares a smirk together.
“Well, I’m sure the ladies at Miraculous Out is just dying to get to know the new black cat, what will you be called?”
“[Insert hero name for Damian here].”
Ladybug smiles and gets up to shake the man’s hand, binding their future together.

Dick and Tim – brothers in arms
Tumblr media
So I got this ask. And it’s a good thing I got it the first night of my summer vacation, and the weather hasn't been great ;-)
Tumblr media
Once I started digging for comics with both Tim and Dick, I found several that I've never read. I got the impression Anonymous would like a complete list, so I just kept going. But this means I don't know if they even interact in some of the books, or if they make "blink and you miss it" guest appearances.
I'm sorry if they, by any chance, was asking for reading recommendations for good Dick and Tim moments and not The Complete List... Looking at the number of comics here that I haven't read/can't remember, I'm not really qualified to answer that. But if I had to try, I would mention:

I'm going to skip post-Flashpoint because, well, there's hardly anything there. The worst thing with Flashpoint/New 52, in my opinion, was that it destroyed relationships between characters who used to be family, but ended up hardly knowing or even liking each other. :-(
Tumblr media
Detective Comics #975. By James Tynion IV, art Álvaro Martínez and Raúl Fernández.
The only panel worth mentioning with Dick and Tim is from DC #975. Yes, it's sad – one of the best brotherly relationships in DC turned into dust. Here's to hoping future writers will pick up on their wonderful dynamic at some time.
(The pictures in the header are from: Red Robin #12, Young Justice vol 1 #22, Showcase ‘93 #12, Batman #441, Nightwing vol 2 #6, 25.)

Imagine this. Tim dissapears after a meeting with the JLA and everyone is justifiably freaked out. Then they found out that Superman and Tim got talking and now they're at Supes fortress bonding over cool alien technology
hi babe.
You know, I could totally feel this as Tim’s first time sitting on a Justice League meeting. But, let’s be real. He’s just gotten back from his Robin training with Lady Shiva, officially got the suit, and is maybe a few issues into his own Robin run, so while he’s pretty bad ass for a kid his age, taking on gangs of scary martial artists in Hong Kong with an even scarier assassin, he’s adorably fanboying all over the place.
He’s still just a smol bird to all these superheroes, a kid with whiteouts that talks fast and hangs right behind B’s right side.
This is probably how Tim in my works is just that tech guy and kick ass at it, because he really started getting into it when, you know, Superman professess an interest as well.
Just like with Dick and Jason, Clark finds the kid to be a-dor-a-ble. Ollie gets B on some tangent about how public identities are a righteous pain, and Clark gets to steal the little Robin away to get him to eat something from the after-meeting buffet and talk about himself a little.
It’s terrible that this Robin has been in the tunic for a few months already and this is the first time they’ve met.
(B probably brought him because Clark happened to just mention last after-meeting he’d met Dick only a few weeks after he first put on the pixie boots, and Jay only four nights in. So, when is the new kid coming around?)
While he’s trying to talk up the shy Robin, congradulate him on graduating to actual pants, he might pry some stories out of the kid, might check out the cool mini-computer he made himself and just!
Before you know it, the Dark Knight is stalking around trying to find his wayward bird. Diana leads him to a Boom Tube, and he comes to the Fortress of Fricking Solitude and just sighs.
Robin is deep in the computer console beside Clark, just their legs sticking out while they apparently tinker.
He clears his throat once.  A second time.
And no, he’s can’t just sleep over. He has school tomorrow! Stop being a bad influence, Superman. You’re supposed to be a role model.
It would be wonderful if, you know, after Tim lost Robin and all, on his way out of Gotham, the paragon of justice is hanging out just outside the city limits sign, waiting. Maybe Clark makes him hit up a safe house in the next city, get some actual sleep before he goes on this manhunt. He doesn’t want to give false hope, but he does want him to take care of himself and stay in contact with someone.

from the latest prompts - Number 5 : “You’re feverish, so stop being stubborn and go lay in the nest.” for Roydick? or Jaydick? or both??
🍪 for the magic
5: “You’re feverish, so stop being stubborn and go lay in the nest.”
“Target is last located half two miles from the Harbor east dock. He’s armed and extremely dangerous. The profile state agency...”
Jason leaned over a wall in a dark corner, watching Dick ramble about the current mission to the JLA. He couldn’t even remember how he got here, to be honest, he didn’t even care anymore.
The moment the room dismissed, Dick slummed down the chair, head in hands. Being the leader of all the biggest faces in the world sure was a dream job to most people, but clearly, not to Nightwing who apparently had already got too much on his plate already.
Jason might don’t really remember how he got here specifically, but he remembered he got here for Dick. Because the last time he was insane enough to stand in one closed space with all the capes, he was about to be extra with his coming back from death and twisting Batman’s pants up.
But now? Only Dick.
“Hey, the Lanterns wanted to ask something...“ Jason was stepping out from the corner and coming to him when the redhead came in. Roy Harper. Never liked this guy.
“Are you okay?”
Dick nodded, pinching his nose bridge. “Yeah, just... a minute please. Okay, what is it?”
“Yeah, you’re definitely not okay.”
“Roy, what do the Lanterns need?”
“Well, they want you to check over their patrol report and cross with- Dick, your face is red. Are you really sure you can go like this?”
“It’s okay, I know what they want now. I’m checking over the files.”
“Dick, are you listening to m-“
“I said I’m fine!”
The room fell into silence until Dick’s echo fade across space. Jason had always known Roy Harper was never the smartest man. But despite that, despite his incompetence in relating the burden of responsibility Dick believed was weighed on his shoulders, the man made his attempt of trying, connecting, sharing. He put his hand on Dick’s shoulder, and they listened to each other talk in this silence.
This was why Jason hated him. Roy Harper. He was the Alpha with a history. The childhood friend. The partner in crime. The one with every character Jason carried, and more.
And Jason just hated how Dick let him touch him, so easily.
Before he knew, Jason was already moving.
“Holyshit! How long have you been in here?“
“From the start.“ Harper was right, Dick was beet red. He could even see how the tiny hair on his nape raised a little when he or Harper got too close.
“Red Hood’s here to give us some extra hand. We’re running short on staff. All helps are welcome.”
No, Jason wasn’t here to help. He was here for Dick, who had half-mindedly asked if Jason really got nothing to do other than stalking him, maybe he should help. And here Jason was, staring at the back of Dick’s neck, waiting for the attention he fought teeth and nails to earn since 15, now fixed on the computer screen.
Guess at least that something he and Harper scored equal at. Because as Nightwing, it would always be the world first, and nothing else, even himself.
Jason lightly gazed a gloved finger over the side of Dick’s neck, and watched him shiver under his touch.
“Where're your suppressants?”
That was the elephant in the room, wasn’t it? Three of them knew Dick was edging on his heat, but it took almost five whole minutes for Dick to admit.
“Somebody needed them so...I gave my last pill away, a week ago.”
“Jesus, Dick!”
“I’m fine, Roy.”
“No, no you’re not. Let me get you back to your room.” And he still refused to look at them.
There was no polite way to do this, so Jason twirled his chair back so fast, Dick yelped a sound. And he held his head in his hands. “You’re feverish, so stop being stubborn and go lay in a nest.”
Jason was serious. And, for fuck sake, Harper was being serious too. The last thing they wanted was Dick collapsing and half of this facility jumping their leader (everyone had been wanting to jump him for years).
“Fine.” Dick gave up and stood up. “I’m heading back.”
Thank god.
But then Dick stopped midway when he was already at the door, licking his lips.
“Do you want to...I don’t know, build my nest?”
“Me?“ Jason and Roy said at the same time. “Wait, you?“ and then again, looking at each other.
Dick laughed. He leaned on the door, and oh, there was a sinister look looming under the shadow of his raven hair.
“The more the merrier.”

This feels weird to admit, but I thought you might be able to help me. I sometimes stalk your Jason Blood tag bc a friend got me into DC via Constantine and JLD, and Jason became a fast favourite. But I'm new to comics in general and esp DC and was wondering if you would be willing go recommend some titles with Jason or mention which ones aren't worth looking into it. I've read Demon Knights, but that's as far as I've gotten. Thanks for your time!
Oh sure! Well you can't go wrong with the original Jack Kirby run. There's also been a few other Demon titles over the years. The 90s run is half collected in TPB, everything by Garth Ennis, I believe. But do yourself a favor and look up the first half of the run as well because it's very silly and fun and Etrigan runs for president. Those runs are just called The Demon. There's also several other Demon series. Hell Is Earth, Blood of the Demon, and Driven Out. Hell is Earth is fairly new and only 6 issues and tons of fun. Blood of the Demon is pretty good and has some travel shenanigans if I recall correctly, and Driven Out is the one I liked least simply because Jason shed Etrigan for the duration of the series (don't worry he got him back) and there was just a whole lot of Fast and the Furious car racing for some reason. And the Yakuza. For more isolated storylines Arkham Asylum Living Hell prominently features Jason and is quite good, there's a tie in comic for Suicide Squad Hell to Pay which also features Jason and he is pretty awesome in that. The JLA story arc Obsidian Age also features Jason as a temporary member of the Justice League, hand picked by Batman. Batman issues 544-546 is also a good appearance. There's also a plot arc in one of the Wonder Woman comics where Jason is heavily involved, but I can't remember exactly which issues. Supergirl (4th series) issues 66 & 67 (Jason and Etrigan go to Vegas)
Aside from that there are a few animated appearances. Honestly, the episodes with them in Batman Brave and the Bold are the best representation of the characters, Justice League Action also has a couple that are super cute and Jason is just So Done and I love it. The first Justice League Dark movie and the Justice League cartoon appearances aren't as good/accurate but still worth it. The episode he appears in is A Knight of Shadows it's a two part. Etrigan appears without Jason in the Justice League Unlimited episode Kids Stuff and it is super fun. The episode the Demon Within is part of the last season of the Batman animated series' final season when the art changed. That was my first exposure to the character so it holds a special place for me.
Hope that was helpful and not just a wild ramble 😅
But, yeah, Jason really is an awesome character and pretty under utilized.

Dare I say it, that Lois is way more ‘sluttier’ than Diana. Lois literally throws herself after Superman and puts her ass in danger to get attention. Yet Diana is a ‘whore’ because she wears less clothing?? Yeah... people are strange
Lois was known, in the past, for resorting to seduction to get information from the people she interviewed. She now is a respectable married woman, but she still has a past. In this “woke” times, it is not relevant, but still.
She also is an attention whore: she would do almost anything to get the front page of the news paper with her name on it.
What she did with Superman could be called “reverse harassment”, because she knew if she puts herself in harms way, Supes would come rushing to her for sure. She didn’t need to stalk him, he was always with his ear on the ground to know when she needed him.
When she had her own book, “Superman’s girlfriend: Lois Lane”, the things she was willing to do to get the attention of Supes were unspeakable: dating other men to make him jealous, having a kissing contest with all the male members of the JLA to see who was the best at it, etc.
It’s easy to point one’s finger to some woman by the way she dresses, though you shouldn’t do it nowadays: it’s her body to do what she wants with it, but the degree of “sluttiness” is way more than skin deep. Be thankful these aren’t the nineties, with the proliferation of thongs as part of the outfit of superheroines.
