Though I'm unsure this will reach the right people, I need to speak my mind about the reaction to the Shubble situation.

I am overwhelmed with reassurance by how this community is supporting Shubble.

A part of me heals every time I see everyone continue to recognize that Shubble is the most important person in the room.

I am proud that we are supporting the victim.

But I do have to stress that we haven't stopped the support of the Abuser, Wilbur Soot.

While it's amazing to see the community come together for Shubble, and that we have already hurt Wilbur's reputation.

I am still afraid it's not enough.

Wilbur still has a fanbase, he still has reach. But most importantly: He has INFLUANCE.

Though I am already seeing the effects of this community's endless support of Shelby already reaching his fanbase, I can't ignore the people who haven't left.

I know that I can't speak for everyone, but it's hard to immediately cut ties with someone like Wilbur. He was someone that I used to look up to and admire. It was painful to let go of the comfort I found in him. But I still found a way to leave him.

Right now people are slowly learning more about the situation through videos on YouTube and posts here on Tumblr, but there are still people who are blindly supporting Wilbur.

As someone who doesn't use Twitter, which is where everything is taking place, I had to learn about the situation from Tumblr users fighting over Wilbur's innocence.

Which was two days before his apology was screenshotted and reposted on Tumblr.

Before Wilbur's shitty apology, there were only two videos on YouTube discussing Shelby's VOD and Wilbur's allegations, now confirmed, of his involvement as the Abuser.

With the only informative video being a quick summary of Shelby's VOD and all the main arguments for Wilbur being the abuser. Which, as I'm now making this post, the YouTubers who made those videos have yet to update the current situation.

Though there are more "informative" videos on YouTube now, they still lack both reach and current facts. With only one in particular having both requirements, xetn4's video which I'll link here: Why do my heroes become horrible people. (youtube.com).

But while xent4 has made a solid video that has checked these boxes without being clickbait, that video still only has 10k views (as of now).

Sure that's nothing to sneeze at, but that 10k compared to Wilbur's 6 million subscribers (as of now) pales in comparison.

And that's not even mentioning how his video is the only one that doesn't feel like people trying to hop onto the "Fuck Wilbur Soot" train before it leaves, using it as clickbait for views.

But even with how ungenuine those videos are they still only have a thousand views at best.

And while posts here on Tumblr have been reaching nearly a thousand notes overnight, they still don't have the proper reach.

Again, I cannot stress enough how little reach this situation has outside of Twitter.

Because while the support for Shelby has affected Wilbur's fanbase, I'm still afraid it isn't enough.

And with every day that passes my fear that this situation will be swept under the rug and forgotten only increases because I'm already watching the numbers fade with every day.

Because as long as the situation stays on Twitter, as long as people read Wilbur's apology without knowing it's about Shelby, the less people are going to know the very real threat Wilbur poses as an abuser with a fanbase.

And yes, to clarify the apology, people are going to shrug it off without knowing the heaviness of his words. Wilbur wasn't afraid to say Shelby's name, he was ensuring a safety net, a loophole.

Because if you read his apology without any of the facts, then it ensures that you stay ignorant and continue to support him under the guise of him "getting better".

And I'm not assuming here, because I've already seen it happen with my friends. Just showing them Wilbur's isolated apology multiple of my friends have asked me why it matters so much "he's already apologized and is getting better, so what's the problem?".

The problem is that Wilbur is dangerous.

And as long as someone can read Wilbur's apology without Shelby's name or the facts, then they will continue to think that everything's taken care of and that nothing has changed.

I can already picture that without Tumblr I would also be one of those people and would still be blissfully ignorant as I happily listen to Lovejoy thinking about Wilbur's next upload.

This is the very thing that is happening as long as we allow this situation to stay contained on Twitter. Because if we don't spread the facts and get the proper reach, we are allowing Wilbur to keep his peace.

His peace which was the exact thing that kept Shelby silent in the first place, hell it might even be the reason why the VOD was taken down to begin with!

Wilbur is dangerous and shouldn't be allowed peace.

Wilbur doesn't deserve a fanbase and we need this situation to reach the proper audience, his audience before it's too late.

Always Believe the victims.

Don't support the abusers.

Support Shubble.

Stop Wilbur Soot.

Not one piece related but I follow DC stuff on here too and it really weirds me out that so many batfam fans haven't read the comics and are only living off of fanfiction???? Look, I'm not one to judge, each to their own or whatever but they're also really proud of not consuming the original media????

I get that DC is a huge franchise and it's not just the comics, there's a whole bunch of animated series and movies and live action films and shows, there's a ridiculous amount of content for it and you don't have to read the comics to be a fan. But in the case of batfam... There's not a lot actually. And because of this there's a huge difference between the fanon and canon versions of the characters. Like, a lot more than any other fandom I've seen. And because a lot of the fans "hate" the comics, the fanon versions are what is more widespread. And it boggles my mind.

I also know that the comics themselves fuck up characters all the time, because it's impossible to keep track of a character with 80 years of history. (It would be a lot easier if DC had a good archiving system in place but oh well.) So how can you expect the fans to have an accurate vision of your characters when you as a company don't???

So, I get why it happened and I'm not trying to be a hater but there's something so fucked up about shitting on the thing you love. Why would you go out of your way to say you wouldn't touch the comics with a ten-ft-pole???? (Yes I've actually seen a fan say this on this very website) Bad comics exist, in fact some of them are REALLY bad, but also good comics exist. Really good, well written and drawn comics are out there about characters you love and you definitely don't have to read it if you don't want to, but you shouldn't brag about how you've never read a comic. It's not the slay you think it is.

I love drawing War and Sky cuz then I get to draw sexy fat dudes- Oh, but the Twili twins have feral features! drawing Angel with a sexy pose is so much fun! XD And with Four I have great plans for him in the future. He is so animated! and so is Bunny! Absolutely LOVE drawing animals XD which means Twilight in his wolf form is definitely amazing as well! And with the fairies too!! With Time and Kori, it is so much fun to both write for them and draw! they can be the biggest pricks and no one can stop me! Your borderline fic recaught my interest in being in the batfandom rn! I just keep seeing all those posts criticizing characterizations and lack of accuracy in fanfiction and posts in the fandom at large and it kept stressing me out, I’m here to have fun and play around. Look, I've seen those posts too, and I can't lie -- they stress me out too. I've never claimed to write canon-accurate characters or straight from the comics plotlines. There are some authors who do that, and they're great! There's also a ton who don't, and they're also great.

Fanfiction isn't about being accurate to the canon source material. It's about writing your takes on characters, events, what-if scenarios, etc. This idea of "accuracy" only hamstrings writers, creators, and artists.

If I was being "accurate" to some DC source material, my Bruce would be very different. He would be meaner, and much more likely to hit/abuse his kids.

Do I like writing that? Hell no! And who's saying I have to?

This idea that fanon is somehow "ruining" canon and/or canon fanfiction is ridiculous to me. I keep seeing this kind of comics elitism pop up here and on TikTok, and it drives me nuts.

Fans have always, since the dawn of fanworks, taken characters and put their own spin on them. They've done things to your blorbo you hate, or that your friend hates, or your friend's friend really hates.

There was a comment by one TikTok creator on a similar post who asked people to stop telling her to "let people enjoy things" because she felt that that phrase was harmful to her involvement in and appreciation for the Batfamily/DC fandoms.

Well, I disagree. I think we should absolutely let people enjoy things, above all else.

So yeah. Write the OOC Bruce Wayne fic. Put together a Tumblr post about a chat between the Batfamily members that would probably never happen in canon. Draw Dick Grayson in short shorts with a boob window, which now that I say it, they might actually do in canon, but oh well.

Fanon/Fandom enjoyment of stuff like the Batfamily, Batman, Superbat etc is not somehow magically ruining canon. If your understanding and appreciation for canon can't handle when buttfucker69 on Tumblr woobifies Bruce for a mini a/b/o fic, then you need to challenge your understanding of fandom.

We don't gatekeep here. I certainly never will. And I will keep fighting on this point until I eventually leave this godforsaken hellsite.

You are a valid fan even if you don't read the comics. You are a valid creator even if your fic/posts are OOC. Your fanon and fandom experiences are VALID.

Really disappointed in Toto's comments. Because let's be clear here: I don't care how much a driver ticks me off or how much I dislike them, I would rather have my favorite driver not get a single podium all season than see my least favorite driver get hurt. And the fact that Carlos walked away from FP1 last night with only a sore neck and back is really the only positive thing from that whole incident. It could've been so much worse for him, for Esteban, for literally anyone else, had they been the one whose car lifted up that water drain cover.

The safety of our drivers was put at risk by the organizers, so much so they had to cancel the session. Who knows how many cars and/or drivers would've been destroyed/hurt, had we continued. And that is on Liberty. People who paid for tickets to FP2 not being able to watch it, because of the incompetence of not securing the manhole covers properly, is also on them. And yes, they have every right to moan. As do Carlos, Fred, and the Ferrari mechanics who not only had to work a blooming miracle to practically build a car from scratch, but also with the knowledge there is a 10-place grid penalty for the race. A penalty because of damage caused by, again, the organizers' negligence.

Rules should be changed to avoid bouncing, but not to avoid giving someone a penalty for massive damage to their car through no fault of their own - got it.

Just read an article on why Link will need to talk in the live action film

They talked about how it would be weird for Link to not talk but have the other characters react as if he did, and they're right on that front

But they didn't even mention sign language at all

It wouldn't be hard to have Link use sign language as a way of communicating

And It gives more representation for people who use sign language as a way to communicate, and for people who are mute irl

So my game crashed... again

This hiatus did me well so far, but this morning I've tried doing a simple photo shoot, the one that was posted earlier. And my game unfortunately crashed about 45 minutes in. It was a new save in Roaring Heights, I used only EA lots. I can't make sense of it, it just crashes randomly, sometimes after about one hour, sometimes after 10 minutes. I couldn't make any connection with me going in- and out of build mode, or a specific CAS item, a mod or a lot. It happens on different saves, either old ones or new ones, on any lot. I've checked for any conflicting mods and deleted a few that could potentially cause issues (even if they worked perfectly together on my previous computer). CLA keeps telling me it's cc, but I've removed everything I'd downloaded since February. I have absolutely no clue what could be causing those random crashes, and at this stage, I think I will simply sadly give up on my new computer altogether and play on my old laptop instead. I bought that computer specifically for my story, and it cost me a lot of money but I just can't make sense of it and I can't work on my story with the impending dread of a crash. I'm sad, because my game really flies on this new computer and it seemingly has no issues with the game other than those inexplicable crashes, but honestly, I'm tired of all this, it's been going on for a month and I need some peace of mind.

I haven't been able to follow general conference in April for a couple of years now

I haven't even been able to go to church really

I accidentally became less active when I didn't want to. It was something I never wanted to happen and it was unavoidable.

I haven't been to the temple in 4 years and my temple recommend expired around that time too. Never renewed it.

I miss it. I miss the temple and refusing to go to 90% of the activities organized by the ward but still being asked every single time. I miss groaning whenever the too-talkative elderly member stopped me for a chat when I was in a hurry only for them to always end up telling me a funny story.

The ward has grown so much these past 4 years and I know nobody in there. Aside from the 10 people I talked to most often, I don't remember anyone's name and I don't know the face of any of the new members, let alone their names.

I miss it all and I don't know how to go back

love how well one piece portrays age

like

so many shows and stories focus on the characters as the age they’re at in the media which, let’s be honest, is pretty much all young adult so like 16 to early twenties

but one piece has old men who are just old idk how to say it. u have zeff and shanks and garp and they’re so well done u can just tell that they’ve lived. that they’re direct products of what’s happened to them and the choices they’ve made

idk i just think that in a world where fantasy focuses on being young and going on adventures it kind of neglects that there’s a life after then too

The last two years 4 movies came out that I saw in the cinema that I really liked, The Green Knight, The Last Duel, The Northman and Devotion. They all reminded me of movies like they used to be, before franchises and superheroes took over the big screen. Except for The Green Knight (who slightly over-performed in the box office) they all ended up flopping. Sure, the pandemic and bad marketing played a role (Ridley Scott really need to stop blaming millennials and their phones) but another thing is happening as well. People are bad-mouthing these movies before they even see them. Let’s take two examples:

The Last Duel is about a very sensitive subject matter (that’s why it’s rated R) but the film acknowledges this, it is not just ‘’two men butchering each other over the honor of a woman’’, as I heard said (by people who did not watch the film), and no, the woman in question is not just a prop in the story. Her story matters here. 

Devotion is not ‘’whitewashing’’ the Korean war. It is less of a warfilm and more of a character drama about Jesse Brown, who was the first black naval aviator. Only at the end of the movie do you see any war at all. And the movie is pretty accurate to the true story, especially considering they had to condense it down to a 2 hour runtime. It’s a good movie, and very moving at times. 

I really whish more people saw these movies, so original stand-alone movies is seen as less of a risk for Hollywood and more are made. Sure, The Last Duel has violence (including sexual violence) and Devotion tells of racism and grief, totally understand if you want to avoid them for that reason, but they don’t deserve the bad rep they get. Again, mostly by people who have not bothered to see them. 

Stories deserves to seen on the big screen even if they have a sensitive subject matter.

After these eight months of working in my new job, I realised how insecure I still am around people who I like and who I assume are way cooler than me. I always fear that I might be annoying to them, or that nobody actually likes me and they talk about me behind my back. It's sad how much the years of being bullied back in school for being the way I am still hinder me from getting closer to people. And especially now, as I'm also not thin or even slightly beautiful anymore, I always worry about how those people see me. And of course I am the only "bigger" person working there, so it makes me even more insecure. I really love my new job and the people I work with. I just wish I could be more comfortable with myself and around them, so that it'd be easier to connect to them.
