Horrible: Link Talking
Wonderful: Sign language representation!
Nice: Light vocalizations and primarily gestures
Acceptable but only because it's funny: Link doesn't speak at all until the very end of the movie, at which point he says something utterly random (Hyrule High fans know what I mean, girl, I ain't even mad he talked, that shit was brilliant)

The funniest possible way that the Zelda movie could handle Link communicating would be for him to be completely nonverbal save for grunts for almost the entire movie, and then in the last (pre-credits) scene, he says "Well, excuse me, princess!" That's it. That's his only line in the whole film.

All right, that's it.
If this movie is horrible we're making our own.
It will take blood, sweat, and tears. It will call for voice acting, animators, composers, and editors the likes of which the world has never seen. But if this movie is horrible- and I have a creeping suspicion it might be- better to spend time, effort, and love to make a movie Zelda deserves than to force ourselves into contentment with a soulless corporate abomination.
Who's with me?

Imagine this in the live-action Zelda movie:
It’s somewhere in the middle of the movie. Link and Zelda have fled from Hyrule Castle, which has been taken over by Ganondorf. Zelda wants to recruit a neighboring kingdom to fight back against Ganon while Link, being her designated knight, says they need to stay in hiding.
So, we get the typical dynamic of two hard-headed individuals who mean well but are butting heads due to their conflicting goals. Zelda gets annoyed with Link, and vice versa. But Link doesn’t want to show his frustration since he’s the bodyguard. This leads to Link letting his frustration out in a passive aggressive way (like saying “you’re welcome” a little too sharply).
This all culminates in a scene where Link catches Zelda trying to take one of their horses so she can go off on her own. Link says she can’t do that while Zelda angrily shouts something along the lines of, “I don’t need your protection!”
There’s a second of silence. Then, in the most annoyed Link has ever been, he shouts, “WELL, EXCUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!”
And then Zelda just stares at Link, more confused than angry.

Listen, listen, listen. If the live action Legend of Zelda movie isn't as breathtaking, detailed, ethereal, and magical as Legend (1985) then I literally am not watching it. If they're not going to be using real sets for the environments, and real special effects for the monsters, and real costume and makeup, then it's not worth it. If they just CGI everything, they're wasting the potential for what could be the best movie ever made

Interesting... I like this! Remember that the director is a long time Zelda fan. He tweeted about wanting to make a zelda movie way back in 2010.

Just read an article on why Link will need to talk in the live action film
They talked about how it would be weird for Link to not talk but have the other characters react as if he did, and they're right on that front
But they didn't even mention sign language at all
It wouldn't be hard to have Link use sign language as a way of communicating
And It gives more representation for people who use sign language as a way to communicate, and for people who are mute irl
